Katherine Gamao: I'm so glad I discovered Dennis! When you're only 5'2" like I am, there is an issue with desks being too tall to properly sit in a chair so your feet can rest comfortably on the ground. I decided I needed a standing desk not necessarily for standing but for adjusting to a lower height. I found the base I wanted to use but was really unhappy with the desktop selections being offered at stores. I wanted something affordable but I also knew I wanted solid walnut wood, a thicker tabletop and attractive cable management options. I had some inspiration images and shared my ideas with Dennis. I purchased the table base and had it shipped directly to him so he could create a custom tabletop, resulting in the perfect desk for me! Dennis was so easy to work with, understood exactly what I needed and wanted, and made sure I was able to check all the boxes while staying within my budget. He shared his knowledge of wood and furniture design to help create my ideal workspace, including a beautiful matching monitor stand. He even came up with the coolest leather cord management straps (and even offers a vegan option too)! He delivered the desktop and base and even put it together for me on site. The quality, the value and the design are beyond anything you could ever buy at a store. If I could have Dennis custom build every piece of furniture in my home I would totally do it! Alan R: We came across Austen/Morris when looking for a custom banquette bench and ended up commissioning Dennis to build the bench along with a table and stool to complete our dining nook. He’s a true artist and craftsman and if you’re looking for something unique and timeless he can create that for you. The process was fun and collaborative, starting with a visit to our space. We exchanged inspirational examples of what we like and discussed wood types. Ahead of the build, he provided 3D renderings of different possibilities, which we then refined before making a final decision on what everything would look like. Custom furniture can be intimidating, but Dennis was great about working within our budget and being flexible as we kept changing our mind. We wanted something solid wood that would last forever and were so happy we found this place. See the pictures for before and finished product. Angie Rhinehart: We came upon this store when we were out looking for new bedroom furniture. While we didn’t find that, we did find so much more! Don’t let the outside deter you, a treasure trove awaits you inside. They carry such unique and reasonably priced pieces. Plan to spend a good bit of time because there is so much to see that it takes several times around the warehouse to take it all in. The best part of this place is the customer service. Furniture shopping can feel like being fed to the wolves, but not here with Nico. He was present to offer help but not in your face and he was incredibly friendly. We found so many things we want for our home but picked up a few to start and are going back for more soon. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Rishi Kumar: I have bought several wonderful pieces from Hardwood Artisans. Pictured here is a coffee table and their 'Jeannie cubes' (the astonishing striped cubes to the left; they are made of scrap pieces of wood pursuant to the company's mission to minimize waste) These are among the most beautiful objects I own. The craftsmanship is astounding. Most of the items are made to order and take time, but boy is it worth the wait. This furniture ain't cheap, but this is the kind of place you go to make an investment in a piece that will last a lifetime or more.

Bule Story: ^_^ BuleStory review for Hardwood Artisans 😊 There is one murphy bed in Hardwood Artisans - Shirlington, Virginia which really really surprised me because the bed just look like a wall cabinet but it can be open and you can pull the bed from those cabinet more like a secret bed 😎 that MI6 use for keep all the guns and weapons 🔫 hahahahahahahahahahahahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 (feels like being James Bond) 😎😜 it does make me really impress. The another model for murphy bed looks good and nice as well, but this one i like it the most!

T Banner: Beautiful wood work. Lots of innovative designs and craftsmanship. I would decorate my entire home with their work but.... I cannot afford it. Many of the pieces are expensive. I am not saying that they are over priced, but if you are not looking for heirloom pieces then this may not be the place for you.

All handmade furniture made from solid woods (beautiful cherry, maple, figured & burl maple and walnut pieces) with ornate detailing, dovetails & ebony peg joinery. This is not IKEA furniture so my experience is it is built to last. Lots of pieces have a craftsman & Japanese modern mash-up feel, very unique & beautiful. If you're a fan of Woodcraft, you'll love this store! A unique piece they make are floor to ceiling custom bookshelves with hidden murphy beds--great for DC area where extra space is difficult to transform. Forgot to take pics, sorry.

Morgan Holden: I went to Creative Classics in a hurry… I am moving to a remote area in Alaska and the movers were coming on Monday. This was Saturday. In getting ready for this big move I had not been able to purchase dining room chairs that we were desperately in need of after years of using donated furniture. I walked in, looked around a little bit, and was then asked if I needed any help. I told the gentleman I was looking for sturdy, Amish made, dining room chairs but I needed them this weekend. He said, maybe Monday: let’s look at our delivery schedule and our inventory to see what we have available. So we did. They did have delivery time on Monday, but my moving company was coming on Monday morning. I kept looking but secretly wasn’t sure Monday would work for me. He introduced himself as Steve, the owner - along with his wife, who was also working in the store that day and helping other clients. Steve brought me over to 2 different styles of dining room chairs and had me sit in them. One was so comfortable for me. I loved it. We went back to the computer to see when we could get these delivered. This is where it goes from good customer service to AMAZING!!! Steve calls his son, who also works in the business, and they arrange for his son to meet me at their warehouse right then. Even though the warehouse is closed on Saturday and it was his son’s day off they knew I was moving and completely went out of their way to help me. I paid and met his son at the warehouse 30 minutes later. He had pulled out all the chairs from their boxes, urged me to inspect each one, and then repacked them so I could have them moved to Alaska. I was headed to Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel next. Creative Classics prices were comparable and they are a small, family owned business, selling Amish made - not factory made - furniture. I am soooo happy with this purchase. I’m moving but I hope this review will bring other people to the store. Creative Classics will be my first choice when we come back to the area. Thanks for your help Steve and Steve Jr.

Rachel Landry: We had a great experience ordering our couch from Creative Classics. The sales associates were very helpful, but not pushy. There was a long lead time on the couch from the manufacturer but when it finally arrived, it was worth the wait. The delivery crew was professional and friendly. I signed off on the couch and realized shortly after that there was a fabric snag on the arm and an imperfection on the leg. When I contacted Creative Classics, they responded immediately and contacted the manufacturer to look into options. The manufacturer wanted to repair the upholstery and leg, which would have required us to surrender the couch. CC offered a couch to borrow during this time, which they would deliver. After more discussion, we really did not feel like going through such a process, during pre-vaccination Covid, for such small imperfections. I suggested a small monetary compensation to account for the damage and CC issued us a check, for what we felt was fair. The customer service is top notch and would never be found at larger, big name stores. They came through even when the issue was with the manufacturer, not their company. We will absolutely return to Creative Classics when we need quality furniture in the future.

Robert J.V. Sumner: I have been visiting Creative Classics since I moved to this area and well-before I was able to afford to shop there. During my visits, I met and have gotten to know Ann and the owners, Rachel and Scott. When stopping in, if only to browse, the staff has always taken time to tell me about the products they sell, how they are made, what is new, and the array of options that are offered to make each piece truly custom. Many of the products sold at Creative Classics are also made in the United States, by hand, and are scaled for smaller condominium spaces, which has been a refreshing contrast to many of the large, overstuffed or oversized pieces that are widely available. In recent years, I have been able to afford to buy some items from Creative Classics. The service is second to none, the items delivered on time with care, and are lasting longer than other products I have bought at mass retailers. I regularly receive compliments from guests about my furniture and how it brings my home together. To address some of the comments about the cost…well, you get what you pay for at any store and Creative Classics is no different. I have paid less for furniture from larger retailers where finishes have dulled, or components have failed within a short amount of time. My pieces from Creative Classics look just as good as they did when they were delivered. Of note, a dining set I purchased from Creative Classics was signed by the workers who built it in Illinois; a sofa I purchased from a manufacturer in North Carolina came with a card signed by each person who had a role in the construction of the piece ranging from the seamster, to the fabric cutter, to the upholsterer. This attention to detail and quality is not inexpensive but it lasts and the pieces are truly personalized. I cannot say enough about how welcoming Ann, Rachel, and Scott have been to me over the years and it is always a pleasure to stop in and browse. If you are seeking quality, American made furniture that can be tailored to your space and tastes, with personalized service, I recommend Creative Classics without hesitation.

Jessica Teel: I really had an outstanding experience with Creative Classics Furniture. Everyone was outstanding from working with Melissa to selecting my item to Ann on providing regularly the status of my order (Due to COVID-19 delays) and Dan making sure everything was on route and timely. I am very happy with the final product. This is my second time ordering from Creative Classics. I worked with Creative Classics over 10 years ago when I ordered our first bed when we first purchased our home. Creative Classics still has wonderful customer service even during the current environment with COVID-19 and the demand for furniture and home products being high. Tanya: I was adamant that I wanted to support local crafters and was referred to Creative Classics by a friend when in search of a new dining room table. I found the one I wanted through Copeland, and ordered it via email with Creative Classics. In my email (and pandemic haze) I failed to specifically mention a glass top table. When the table showed up it was of course solid wood. I signed off on the order sheet etc so really the blame is on me. Creative classics was so kind to not only order me the correct table, but to allow me to use the one that was incorrect until it would arrive. They refunded the price difference, and also my delivery fee! Simply amazing for something that was really *MY* fault. I absolutely will be ordering from them again. Thinking maybe a new bedroom set next. Bottom line, don't hesitate to support this small business who in turns supports other small businesses with products that are made in the USA.

Margo Ramage: i cannot say enough good things about Creative Classics in Alexandria, VA. I live in a modestly-sized condo and I found Creative Classics had by far the best options for appropriately sized furniture. I ordered a sectional and I got what I wanted in dimensions, firmness, fabric and arm style - not what I was willing to settle for. Ann was beyond patient and gave me great advice. I also bought metal-framed nesting tables and was able to select from a variety of metal finishes to blend with other metal finishes in the living/dining area. The delivery service was professional with an emphasis on safety during the pandemic. Try them, you'll like them.

FlimFlam Man: I highly recommend this store if you are looking for high quality, American-made furniture. My wife and I live in a small, two bedroom condo. We purchased all of our living room furniture from them and had it delivered around 2 months ago, and just finished placing another order for a dining room table, chairs and a buffet. We love this store so much that after the dining room furniture arrives, we will be ordering new bedroom furniture from them also. The staff and owners of the store are very nice, helpful and professional. The delivery guys were friendly and very good at their jobs - all of the furniture arrived without a scratch and in perfect condition. All of their furniture is custom-made with hundreds of options in regards to fabric choices, materials, colors and patterns. When we sat down to look at some of the fabrics for the couch, Rachel, one of the owners, must have noticed a look of desperation on our faces as we tried to figure out what we wanted. She told us they had designers who could come out to our home to help wade through all of the choices, so we decided to give it a try. That was probably the best decision we made. Our designer was Elisa - she came to our home and spent nearly two hours with us to figure out what we were looking for. A week or so later, she gave us multiple design plans for the living room, dining room and bedroom, and also gave us recommendations on new carpet colors and patterns. To finalize the color and fabric choices, Elisa even met us at the store on a Sunday morning (usually her day off) a few hours before the store opened. Our living room looks beautiful and is very comfortable. Everyone that comes to visit comments on the great looking furniture and loves the way our condo looks. I am so glad we took advantage of their design service, and even happier that Elisa is so good at what she does.

Natalie Mosher: I can't say enough good things about Creative Classics Furniture. We worked with designer, Elisa, who nailed the scale of furnishings we should purchase for our condo. It was worth the wait of 10 weeks. All the furniture is made in the U.S. As an aside the owner , Scott who we had the pleasure of meeting one Sunday afternoon in the store, offered a chair from the warehouse while waiting for our furniture to arrive...of course we took him up on the offer! Great staff, local family owned and operated. A real treasure in Alexandria VA.

Joost Santos: Yes, the furniture here are expensive, but as someone (like me) who does research first, the prices in this store are lower compared to online stores. The quality is superb! You can easily tell a cheap furniture from other places to the high-quality ones you would find in this store. Customer service is excellent. I like the fact that the staff don't follow you around persistently -- they would just let you take your time. If you ask questions, they would give you the best answer without even overly-pressuring you to buy (unlike other commission-based stores). I bought a Copeland bed in this store last year and it has even gotten better after a year (the wood stain matures beautifully over time). Nonetheless, there's a downside to visiting the store in person -- you would literally salivate at the sight of the fine furniture on display. Oh I almost forgot to mention the muscular delivery guy (can't remember his name). When I first saw him I thought to myself -- if this guy wrestles with me, I would get defeated in less than a second so I will minimally interact with him. But I found out that he's super nice and I also learned that he is the son of the owner. Let us support this local family business. Indeed, they are truly deserving of a 5-star rating.

Jacqueline Dobranski: We have been enthusiastic customers of Ligne Roset DC since 2012 when we bought a set of 12 formal "So" dining chairs and the iconic pumpkin chair. The store is locally owned by a warm and welcoming community-minded family. This translates to amazing customer service! Owner David Zein has an exquisite eye for design. He patiently helped me choose the right pieces and the perfect colors for my home without sales pressure. A couple of years later I stopped in and purchased the Ploum love seat - like sitting on a cloud! The first night I had it my dog chewed a hole in the seat! David had an upholsterer there the next day and you cannot tell anything happened! Last year we replaced our casual dining table and chairs at Ligne Roset. David swore the chair fabric would not stain, and he was right! I have two young kids - soy sauce, spaghetti sauce, you name it - it all comes right out of light gray fabric with a damp cloth! I have always admired Ligne Roset, and we get compliments on the style and comfort of our furniture all the time. Thank you to David and wife Dani for an excellent shopping experience. We are customers for life! BTW their newest store at the DC Wharf is stunning!

Stacy Lemery: Having a West Elm accessible to bus and metro lines is great for residents of the DC area. There is always lots more online, but being able to see the quality of bedding, furniture, etc in person makes a big difference. I have purchased a bed, bedding, hallway shelving, a shoe rack, curtains, candle holders, and other decor from West Elm.

Ms.: I love the items in the store. Very stylish and very unique. 2 full floors of sofas, pillows, dishes, pot holders, baskets, wall decor and more. Easy to stay in store and "look"..sure to find an item for your home or gift for another. Can't really talk about customer service except to say no one acknowledged or ask me did I need help to find an item. I was on my own..succeed

Eric Overton: Staff at this store were basically useless and didn’t seem to know much about the products for sale. Fortunately, I was only there to test a floor model before buying online. Shipping was fast with only two weeks between purchase and delivery. Delivery dudes were both prompt and chill.

Geneva: I was wary of buying from this store based on some of the reviews here; however, after a year of searching for the right sectional, I found the perfect one for me at West Elm. I received good service from the store. The sales person was very clear that my sectional - which I bought in November for a nice discount - would not arrive until early January. As promised, I got calls and emails from the delivery department the second week of January and was able to schedule a date that worked for me. The two delivery guys were amazing - they had to maneuver their big truck down a narrow alley to get to the loading dock. They were professional and efficient and out of my apartment in less than 15 minutes. The sectional is exactly what I wanted and so comfortable.

MIchael Wright: Prices are unnecessarily high, since the doors are left open during warm weather, thus requiring more energy for A/C,, which also incrementally contributes to climate-changing emissions. So, not the shop for customers who either don't like higher prices or want to help the environment.

Angela Garcia: STAY AWAY FROM WEST ELM. It's customer service is the worst, they won't ever deliver your items on time, they won't care and won't do anything about their mistakes with your order....it is just not worth it. I have received the wrong item TWICE (which honestly I don't understand how they can mess up the size of a piece which is clearly stated in their website other than it should have never been offered there in the first place because it doesn't exist). Now I'm stuck with an item which is not the one I ordered, and west elm won't care to pick it up and complete the return. THIS BRAND IS A JOKE.

The store associate we worked with was knowledgeable, professional, and personable, and really helped us choose the best option for our apartment. Our furniture won't arrive for a while, but we'll eagerly await it! The store itself was clean and well-organized.

Jonathan Mullen: Some nice stuff. Seems overpriced for what it is. Similar to Crate and Barrel.Joybird is just down the street and offers higher quality furniture at a better price.

Annapurna Mitra: The worst delivery experience I have encountered. I ordered a dining table and four chairs, with in-home delivery. The chairs were sent via UPS, not assembled, and with no explanation despite paying $250 for in-home delivery. I live alone, and there are 7 pages of assembly instructions requiring two people. I have no way of doing this, and am left with a living room like a furniture warehouse. On the other hand, the dining table, which was ready 10 days ago, and I had asked the customer service to wait and schedule an appointment for all items together is yet to arrive. I cannot find a way to schedule anything on the website, and on the phone I can not find a way to talk to a human being. I have received no response to my email. If I could give zero stars I would.

Sarah Gunel: Customer service was super here! All of the sales associates were helpful, but not pushy. They were also pleasant (happy). After we returned home from our shopping, I realize that I left my daughter's hat there. I called and the woman who answered the phone said she would mail it to me. I was incredibly impressed with their customer service. I would definitely return to this store!

Jennifer Zydney: My best customer experiences come about when someone I do business with makes a problem go away. That was the case with Warehouse Showrooms. Knowing lead times are stretched, we ordered some outdoor furniture well ahead of when we’d need it. When we approached the date that we thought we’d take delivery, we learned there had been some miscommunication about how/when the delivery would occur. Warehouse Showrooms really bent over backwards to address the situation and make it work for us. Super helpful and responsive customer service. Furniture delivery guys were great too, very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to enjoy our Polywood rockers!

Sara Barth: Warehouse Showrooms is great! We purchased a bedroom set and couldn’t be happier. Excellent quality solid wood furniture at reasonable prices. The staff at Warehouse Showrooms are so easy to work with and gave us realistic expectations about delivery timelines. We ended up adding a piece to our order a few weeks after our initial order was placed and they did not charge us for the second delivery. We’ll definitely shop with Warehouse Showrooms again!

Barry Rosman: We bought 5 matching walnut chairs to go with our new Live Edge table. The chairs legs were too wide to fit 2 chairs side by side. After some discussion, the came up with an innovative solution to move the table legs at no charge. They saved the day and fixed it within 24 hours. That is service. They are very helpful, creative and very easy to do business with.

And most items are very customizable to adjust sizes and wood types and finishes to match just what you are looking for. We are really impressed and would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for long lasting furniture.

Jon La Marr: I would give R-Home Furniture 100 stars if I could. An absolutely amazing place to get custom, hand-made, and beautiful furniture at great prices. We've had endless problems with the "brand name" furniture places, but you will not have any problems going here. We hand picked our pieces and had them custom made/delivered in under a week! R-Home Furniture is family-run from creation to delivery. Every interaction we've had with them has been a breeze. We will definitely be back to get more soon!

M M King: The R-Home Furniture team is amazing! From selection of the wood to designing the table, bench seating, and end table, the service and support were first class! The finished products were great!

Jessica Kropf: This is a good store to visit if you like solid wood furniture. They have some items available to carry away same day, and offer custom orders as well. They also have a lot of large wood slabs on hand to select and custom finish for live edge tables. The location at 2936-B Prosperity Ave. is scheduled to close and consolidate with the Alexandria location (possibly by July 2022?). They have live edge wood slabs there still, along with rustic reclaimed cabinets and furniture, tansu style chests, and tables and chairs. Items are discounted at that location currently until the move, or visit the main location in Alexandria for a wider selection of furniture and decorative items.

Kaitlin Beach: This is truly a hidden gem. We were looking for a new table and found R-Home. The service was excellent, helpful but not at all pushy. I could not believe the amazing selection of quality, handmade wood pieces, including reclaimed and live-edge wood slabs. Prices are super reasonable for the excellent quality, especially as it's right in the DC area. We didn't see anything else close to this selection and price for the quality. We came away with a dining table made of reclaimed oak that will last us for the long haul. Delivery was great. We cannot stop raving about this purchase!

Arthur Lord: Great quality, family-owned business, with even better customer service. We were very happy with the dining room table and chairs that we bought. After we used the table daily for a year, we noticed the wood started to separate at one end-- we contacted the owner (Bram) and he happily fixed the table, free of charge. Even gave us a loaner for the days it was in their shop. They picked it up and dropped it off around our schedule. It looks and works great now. Talk about standing behind your products. Would definitely shop here again.

Cory C: The storefront might seem small at first glance, but inside is a huge warehouse of unique furniture from around the world. I was blown away by size inside the store and the amount of furniture in it. The pieces in the store are mix of contemporary and classic pieces of beautiful, solid hardwood and they also offer accents and accessories. While shopping, the staff was kind, friendly, and helpful. While I was browsing, they even offered to customize pieces of furniture to fit into any sized spaces-- (which was great for furnishing my apartment!). The tables, chairs, and media console that I got all look simple and beautiful. Next time I'm in Virginia, I'll definitely be stopping here again. Potterybarn pieces of furniture without the prices. Would recommend.

Ali Samadpour: This store is basically abandoned. The alarm goes off on this building weekly and no one is there to turn it off for three days straight. People in the neighborhood are forced to listen to their alarm 24 hours a day.

Da M: Stopped in but was told you need an appointment. No where on the website does it say you need an appointment. The showroom looked to have about 5 people in it. Its okay. I ended up ordering from a third party and saved the sales tax! After that experience i will not order direct from Knoll

Gary Berman: This is the second time I have used CC for installation of closet systems. My first experience was stellar leading to using them again. My second experience was not. Not only was the design poor and inefficient, it cost me more money because more wood was needed than necessary. The installer was sloppy in the installation. CC rebuilt part of my closet system because they agreed on the poor design and poor quality installation - good for them. But their redesign did not entirely fix the problem. Still there is a section of the closet needing repair and the re-installer was not prepared to fix it on site, so now they have to come back for a third time causing us to remove everything from the closet again. My recommendation is to study the plans and ask more questions than I did. My designer, Colleen Cuff, was newer to CC and that should have been a red flag. Lastly, CC did not refund me the amount of money that was wasted in the original design which they estimate was about $370 out of $8,000. Service: Cabinet construction & installation

Wendy Patten: I used this company to install wall to wall bookshelves. I wanted something that we aesthetic but could really handle all my books. The designer did a great job meeting with us to review our needs and what we wanted. She kept flexible and submitted several options. We chose our favorite option. The installation was done in one day and done well. There was a need to come back for a small correction and they did a great job with that as well.

Carol Weiss: California Closets designed and installed a home office — wraparound desk with shelving, drawers, special inside cabinet for printer, etc. The designer did an excellent job translating my vision into a highly detailed concept drawing that fit some tricky dimensions including a window on one side of the desk. The designer provided options and guidance for materials and colors, and ensured the design was exactly what we wanted. Installation was meticulously carried out; the two techs were extremely professional and everything fit perfectly. They also thoroughly cleaned up poop afterwards. Furthermore, we were planning on hosting dinner for friends and family and we asked if they could promise the install prior to it, especially given global supply chain issues. Kendra Bacchus: The design process with Reza was great. My needs were taken into consideration 99% of the time. I knew what I wanted prior to meeting which made the process smooth. Once I signed off on design and made a deposit I waited roughly 3 months….which was expected in the height of the pandemic. When the installers arrived- the process took an entire day( was expected) the installer Franklin worked efficiently and communicated well when an issue would arise. At the end of the build Franklin walked me through the builds (Main closet and Laundry room). I was very pleased with the work executed. Later on after the installers left- my husband noticed that we were not able to access the water or electrical in Laundry room if an emergency were to occur-I promptly notified my designer and he said it was missed during the install and was in the original design. I also realized I could use a few more shelves in my main closet so I was able to order additional. It took a few months for the shelves to come in as well as the update to the missed opening for the laundry room. The shelves were not the right size and the opening that was cut was vey shotty. The new installer was able to cut shelves on site ( not the best quality) and the hole that was cut in order for us to access the water for washing machine was a mess… the integrity of the unit was compromised and I was told I could lose an entire shelf of storage. So…..waited a few more months a supervisor inspected the unit in laundry room, was told that the entire side needed to be replaced. Fast forward to a few more months….Installer came in tried to repair hole by using drywall caulk and blue painters tape. Not happy and I was told that they will be ordering a new panel …..still waiting. I paid for all services 100% (1 year of waiting for correction). Although I was extremely pleased with the overall install- my experience has deteriorated with how the small mistake has turned into uncertainty of the quality of my laundry room build. My designer Rena was excellent and the initial installer Franklin did an impeccable job with both the main closet and laundry room, so sad that a small miss made such a huge impact on overall service. Tiffany Roberts: This is THE place to go to hunt for DIY furniture in Northern VA. Once you’re there, you can roam the warehouse of unending furniture and paints. Everyone was SO nice and gave me great suggestions for my next DIY project. I purchased two chairs for my new house and will definitely be back for paints!

Elizabeth Taber: When I priced out buying new kitchen furniture, replacing my six chairs alone would have cost more than I wanted to spend. Plus I didn't want to give up my table, which is in good condition, or the chairs, which are some of the few I can sit in comfortably. Joni and The Back Dorr to the rescue! They did a lovely and professional paint job, working hard to customize a color that kept the seats true to the color of my table. And that was after patiently removing the old, damaged finish (see before and after pics). Every encounter with the folks at The Back Dorr was pleasant, and I highly recommend working with them to save the furniture you love.

Ryan Boyer: The Back Dorr and The Front Porch is the place to go if you are looking for restored furniture, furniture repair, or custom painting. The owners are knowledgeable, helpful, and incredibly patient in dealing with their customers. We got a customized cabinet turned into a media table which was exactly what we were looking for when we couldn't find anything brand new. Their work is the highest of quality, their prices are fair, and their selection is great.

ann feltman: Absolutely the BEST place ever!!! Amazing selection of furniture to refinish or have customized. They even offer classes to paint and create your own. Joni is truly the BEST teacher. Truly a treasure, especially for Northern Virginia! Totally in love!

Joni is very knowledgeable, and showed the class so many different types of paint, painting techniques and finishes. The store is fabulous too. Joni's team re-finished this old china cabinet base for me to use as a TV stand; the paint and preservation-coating really brought the piece to life. Carrie: I bought a sectional for my "small space." I worked with Laura at the Clarendon store in Arlington, VA. She fit me into her schedule promptly so that I could qualify for the sale price before the deadline, and came to my home the same day I visited the store to get measurements and evaluate fabric samples. I placed the order and received the item earlier than promised. The delivery team was professional and the whole experience was very positive. I love my new sectional sofa and it fits perfectly in my living room.

Samantha Katz: I have worked with Antoinette since 2018. I have bought several pieces for a variety of rooms in my house. I have a particular eclectic style and a fairly strong opinion of what I like and she works with me. She never pressures me to buy. She will give you the same great service if you are only buying one piece or if you are redoing a complete room/house. She is a great designer and while I have not used her for design, I would highly recommend her.

Amina Bennett Nevels: Every piece we ordered (and we ordered 4 rooms of furniture) came nicked/chipped. After waiting a year for our items we were sorely disappointed, especially at this price point. Customer service was spotty and did very little rectify these issues. I didn't buy furniture from this establishment only to have it require repair upon arrival. Last time I order from this place.

Vanessa Villagarcia: WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! In April 2021 my husband and I were searching for furniture for our new home. I purchased a few pieces of furniture at Pottery Barn before without any regrets but we wanted to go in a different direction this time. We went to Ethan Allen because we thought it was high end and good quality furniture. We ordered furniture for our Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen and our new Bedroom. We also placed an order for Window treatments for the entire house (About 30/35 Windows). We placed the furniture in April 2021 and we were told and assured that the furniture was going to be delivered and installed in August 2021 the latest. It is Mid-November and we are still waiting for our furniture to arrive. We were so very disappointed that we wanted to cancel our furniture order but our request was denied. A couple of weeks ago we received a sofa and a dining table. The sofa arrived with a big and noticeable stain on one of the cushions and some dents on the wood. First, We contacted Ethan Allen several times since August to follow-up and get updates about our furniture and the sales representative was not too helpful and always gave vague answers. There was and still there is not a straight answer regarding delivery dates and now about the sofa cushion replacement. All I heard is Ethan Allen processes and a lot of excuses to fulfill our furniture order and get the furniture replaced. The last time I spoke with the sales rep. she literally said: "I am hoping you are enjoying your beautiful furniture" I am not sure how she dared to say so knowing that I/we can not have our house set up yet. I am SO VERY DISAPPOINTED and deeply regret the day we decided to stop at Ethan Allen instead of going back to Pottery Barn since I knew how serious they take customer's business.I wish I could go back in time or have the opportunity to return what we just received and cancel the remaining pieces of furniture order, I will DEFINITELY do that. I thought Ethan Allen was a serious and respectful furniture store with good quality pieces of furniture but now I know they are not. Sadly I can say, I was wrong.If you take CUSTOMERS seriously and a piece of advice from a very frustrated customer, you should train your people to be more honest, straightforward and respectful with your customers and their needs. This is not a joke, we are spending money on your business, nothing has been given for free. We had to cancel two or three events in our new home because we had and still have an empty house.

Zayda Morales: Customer service almost non existent. We ordered furniture months ago. We had a time of delivery. It didn’t happened. We were not really surprised since everything is taking a long time to be delivered. My disappointment is with the lack of communication on the status of the order. I called on a Saturday. Today is Thursday and I have not received a call. An email was sent Sunday and still no response. It doesn’t take much to make a call or respond to an email. Out order is 2 months over due.

C. Kane: The designer was awesome and the furniture well made and on trend. I purchased a full condo worth of furniture. It’s been just under 4 years and it’s all held up extremely well. My only complaint today is that the fabric protection I purchased is outsourced to a third party (Guardsman) and they are extremely difficult to deal with and their Better Business Bureau rating is a “stellar” 1.9. Remains to be seen if they will actually honor the claim but I have little confidence given the reviews and my experience to date, even though I’ve followed all of the rules. It was very expensive to purchase (through EA) and Ethan Allen should be better at selecting the vendors it affiliates with. The fabric protection induced me to select a lot of whites, I’m not sure I’d make the same choice today given my experience w Guardsman. My recommendation based on my experience is to think very carefully before buying anything affiliated w Guardsman.

Maureen Zafros: I had a fantastic experience working with Sidney! She's a very talented and creative designer who made refinishing my living room stress-free and fun. I love the furniture and rug I purchased and appreciate the calm, peaceful atmosphere she created. Sidney visited my home several times and developed a personalized plan for me to work from. Her exceptional artistic sense and her knowledge of design principles were evident as she patiently spent many hours working with me. Sidney suggested furniture styles and organized fabrics and rug samples so that the process of making final decisions was straightforward and within my budget. I've referred her to my friends who were very pleased with her guidance and expertise in assisting them. I highly recommend Sidney!

Juliette B.: Pascal repaired damage done to our wood bed frame during a move. He was prompt, professional and communicative and his work was so good you couldn’t even see where the wood had been damaged. We were so happy with the work that we kept his info and reached back out when we wanted to restore an old coffee table that really needed some tlc. Again Pascal provided clear communication about our options and even gave me the opportunity to come out to the shop to review finish colors in person. He was very patient with my silly questions and we are delighted with the finished product. He is a true craftsman and I would highly recommend him.

Elissa Redmiles: Pascal was absolutely amazing. He came to our house to fix an issue with a cabinet door we’d been dealing with for nearly a year. He instantly recognized the issue and quickly and generously fixed it.

Jody Brookover: Pascal repaired a century old all wood dining room chair that had split at a glued joint. He was perfectly on time and the repair looked better than I had originally hoped.

M: UPDATED 6/2017: The manager Christine has taken extra steps to rectify the issues, including replacing both recliners. The new recliners worked perfectly upon arrival, and had better padding than our original recliners. I am not sure if this was because she indicated that they would perform extra quality control, or if the two we originally ordered were so shoddy. The new recliners are great, and what we had expected when we tested them in the store. We are going to work with the manager directly to see if we can finish ordering our set of dining room chairs, and if they do that well, I would recommend working directly with the manager. ====== We are repeat customers, and it saddens me that this store has gone downhill. Our furniture arrived defective four months ago. The store doesn't seem to care. We notified the store, and they said they would schedule a technician to arrive. I called to confirm the visit because I received no confirmation call on the date scheduled and was waiting for a time window the day before the technician was scheduled to arrive. Turns out they accidentally canceled the technician visit and I had scheduled to take the day off from work. That was a terrible situation, and no one called to apologize. I called the headquarters customer service and they said they accidentally messed up, and that I should call the technician directly, so I did, and they sorted it out with Bassett. Then, the technician arrived and told me that the furniture should make a popping sound, that wasn't a defect. Luckily we had two of the same chair, so I was able to prove to the technician he was wrong. He said he wouldn't want to fix the issue because he may ruin the fabric. He does nothing, and concedes that the recliners do have issues because I was able to prove it because we have two of the same exact recliners. Please note that the technician does nothing when he arrives, it is to simply inspect the problem. The manager calls after I ping the store, and she apologizes for being away and not getting back to us. They of course they decide to "fix the parts" instead of replacement, and said if it doesn't work, they'd replace the defective recliner. Also, one of our recliners doesn't recline properly. They told us they are waiting for parts, and that gave me some hope that they would redeem themselves. However, since mid March, we haven't heard anything -- it has been an issue since January 20th, and it is now mid April. They do not respond or keep track of the issue, so I would recommend avoiding this store at all costs. If anyone from corporate is reading this, please know that we are not being treated well by your company or store. We also bought custom dining room chairs, which arrived with a weird chemical odor, which dissipated after a few weeks. It is now the end of April, and the manager has reached out since the online review to apologize, and offer to resolve the issues, but nothing has happened. Since my last conversation with the store, 9 days have passed with no contact. We still have two defective recliners since January.

John Loring: The sales process was fine and I liked their merchandise, so I placed a $9,000 order and paid in full. Since then Bassett has failed to keep two appointments for delivery. Each time I called and was told that delivery was never scheduled. When I asked for a refund, I was told that only the store manager can authorize a refund and that he is not available. I tried calling their corporate office and was told that I can only deal with the store. If you care at all about post-sales customer service or delivery schedules, stay away from Bassett.

Tandra Jones: I just bought my beautiful living room furniture at Bassett. Along with my personal designer Donna was so helpful in helping me select the right sofa, recliner chairs and matching rugs that all came together perfectly. I cannot wait for delivery. I would definitely use Bassett again and will recommend to friends and family.

Dillon Franks: Bought a wood table and a couch from this location. The table is low quality and the finish scratches off easily, even with a fingernail. The couch however has been great.

Leigh Hennessey: Every time I go in everyone is courteous and friendly. They spend as much time as I want wandering around the store with me; answering questions - even if I am not buying that day. Bassett is definitely one of my "go-to" furniture stores!

regina taylor: Horrible. Had our delivery date changed 4 times. Nit sure which lie to believe. We need ti purchase a top rated adjustable mattress but changed our minds after this experience. We will not purchase from them again. Rooms To Go has been great with deliveries & even replacements. Purchases with them in March & April have all been delivered and here in our home. Purchases with Haverty's ordered in December 20, 2021 is still not here! A big DISAPPOINTMENT to us.😔

David Rich: We had just been at LaZboy, where everything was "4-7 months" until delivery, so were shocked that Haverty's could customize the sectional we want and deliver it in just 4 days! Florence provided exceptional customer service and stayed with us from store entry all the way thru financing.

Victor Yu: I purchased a large amount of executive office furniture (Whitlock II collection): 6 bookcases, executive desk, and file cabinet. Total price exceeded $11,000. I purchased these items approximately 8 months ago, but have not been able to use the bookcases because they were assembled incorrectly. Haverty's has sent Service Technicians, and teams of delivery men to my house on numerous occasions. Over these 8 months, I have been astounded by the ineptitude of this company's inability to correctly assemble the bookcases in order to make them safe to use. I have purchased better quality furniture at Arhaus and BiF furniture stores in Fairfax, VA. Even though these stores are more expensive, I was glad to pay the extra amount of money SO THAT I CAN USE IT ONCE THEY WERE DELIVERED TO MY HOME. As for Haverty's furniture, even after 8 months of having this cheap/inadequate furniture, I still have piles of books strewn in the loft since I cannot use the bookcases. If you have the means, I would definitely look elsewhere (i.e. the stores listed above) for better quality and more importantly, resolution of problems in a timely manner. ADDENDUM: If you look through these reviews, you'll notice that the "5 star" reviews get a "Response from the Owner." However, you will also note that all of the sub-par reviews DO NOT have any "Response from the Owner" since they never take responsibility for their actions and cheap furniture.

MSS Primary: I happened to see this place next door to IKEA and stopped in when I saw the polywood chairs outside the store. They were just what I had been looking for and in all the right colors! I had been searching for pink children's polywood chairs, which are impossible to come by. I called several stores and was quoted waiting lists for months, if they even had them. I ordered 5 adult size navy chairs, 2 pink children chairs, and 1 navy child chair, and I had them all within less than a month (the in-stock ones I was able to take home immediately). The chairs are low-maintenance and are comfortable and beautiful and were reasonably priced, which I discovered after shopping around. Definitely recommend!

Brendan Corey: Prices are kinda steep but the quality is good. Communication is lacking but installation is great. Lance, the owner runs the operations side of the business and appears to struggle to meet deadlines, communicate and retain talent. If you order from Lance be prepared for delays, no shows, and no callbacks. I think it's due to the fact that they take on too much work and they use what seems to be a pretty dated CRM tool. At the time of us ordering, they had only 1 craftsman : a full time teacher who only worked weekends. Quality of product is pretty good.... Probably 9/10

The quality of the furniture is great, their showroom is diverse, the prices are very reasonable, the customer service is awesome, and the delivery was timely and professional. Bob Kohm: Lovely selection of unfinished wood furniture at reasonable prices; they can/will stain & poly for an additional price. The $20 turned walking stick/shileaghles are a hidden gem, hanging on a rack near the exit.

He kept us up-to-date as the build progressed by sending pictures and was able to meet our tight timeline. He was courteous and professional and answered all our questions. The craftsmanship is top-notch and we are so pleased.

Van Pham: This post is mainly about the service I received. I bought a dining table from Woodcrafters and we do love it. It’s well built and made exactly how I envisioned it. The service and treatment I received, however, is probably some of the worst. I came here from Leesburg, VA because Lance and Woodcrafters was recommended to me by a close friend who had a great experience with them. I, on the other hand, did not receive such phenomenal service she spoke about. I ordered our table on May 1st. I also paid for this table in full and was told that it would take 6-9 weeks to complete and be delivered. Well, we received the table on August 14th. Not only was it not delivered in the timeframe that was promised, I never once received a phone call to tell me there was a delay with my order. Every contact that was made was always initiated by me, the customer. It wasn’t until the 3rd or 4th time I checked in on my order (around week 10) that I was told there was a back order on the bench seat I wanted. Why was this not communicated earlier?! I would have understood and not been so upset if Lance had just called me and been upfront about it. Instead, he just let me wait it out. Also, all communications about your order has to go through him. The lady who answers the phone, bless her heart, really does try her best but she’s basically useless because I was always told that she will have Lance call me back, which literally never happens in the time period you would expect (i.e. the following business day) so I would always have to reach out a day later. I received exactly one call from Lance (around week 14) to let me know my table was in the finishing shop and that once it goes through inspection, he can deliver it by Tuesday or Wednesday. He said he’ll call me back. Never happened. I called the following weekend because I really needed this table and he’s several weeks past the expected due date only for the lady over the phone to tell me Lance had a perfect excuse why he hasn’t called me back this time around. What about the 5 other times?! Well turns out his mom was in the hospital and I really do feel bad but I am doing business with someone who doesn’t know how to delegate priorities. Eventually, I called again the following day because the lady said Lance would call me, but as we know, he never does but this time he said again that it’s in the finishing shop (wait, you said that over a week ago!) and once it passes inspection he should have it delivered by Saturday. Received a call from the store lady (she’s useful this time) to say the table will be delivered on Saturday. We did receive the table this time but there were so many times I wanted to go in and just cancel my order with them but hearing all the details about others getting charged some card maintenance fee, it made me pause so I just stuck it out. TL;DR the service was awful and I’m never going to order from them again. I’d rather find a more local place that I can physically go to where it doesn’t take me an hour to drive to. So much for trying to help out a local business that was recommended by a friend. Needless to say, she will not be recommending them again.
