Home Energy Medics: what do users think?

Cary: Really enjoyed working with Luke and Home Energy Medics for our Energy Audit. We contacted Home Energy Medics to help us with temperature imbalances in different areas of the house and look at ways to improve the overall energy efficiency of our home. I had the chance to work with Luke. Luke was very knowledgeable, professional, and personable with good attention to detail. He clearly communicated each step of the process and took time to explain his measurements and what it means for improving the comfort of our home. Luke clearly cares about the work he does and providing the best information for customers.

K Z: We had our house for 4 months when the HVAC system failed and a new system installed. That’s when the leaking started. It went on from April-August because of the instillation HVAC company with poor ethics. In August, Home Energy Medics came to inspect the house. We fired the other company and hired HEM on the spot. They impressed us with their home knowledge and we put our trust in them to help us. We had to do mold mitigation 1st and I’m grateful for their recommendation. Mitigation took longer than expected, which pushed our house repairs/sealing back. We explained our living situation of space heaters due to heat pump set at 60-62 degrees for the axillary heat not to turn on and Scott juggled things to make it happen right before Christmas. We actually had a warm Christmas morning. We are extremely grateful for the drive and extra effort to make that happen and the quality of workmanship in the finished outcome. Thank you very much Scott, we appreciate everything you did for us.

Hannah Wiegard: We had Taylor here to inspect and test our house on Monday. He was awesome. After a thorough but totally doable questionnaire about our house and our any comfort issues we had noticed, which Taylor had familiarized himself with before arriving, he spent the morning collecting a ton of data and running the blower door machine. My toddler was fascinated with everything he was doing, and Taylor was really good with us while working with a lot of attention and care. He made time to discuss some preliminary ideas about our aging windows (antique home) and heat pump system with my spouse and me and we are super excited to hear back with what they glean from the info they got while here. We are confident that the measure we end up getting which will probably include spray foam insulation, will be completely worth it and will be done right. After three years in this house I’m so glad we found them and didn’t wait any longer. Thanks Taylor and everyone there!

Lorraine Hendry: This is a follow-up to our original review of Home Energy Medics. After finishing our job, Scott came back several times to help solve problems other contractors could not. He took the time to listen to us and made sure our job got done properly. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We would again recommend him highly.Services: Fan installation, Drywall installation

Providence Spina: I asked Home Energy Medics to perform an energy efficiency audit shortly after I moved into a new house. They were extremely responsive and helpful with setting up the appointment, answering my questions and making sure I selected the appropriate services. The audit itself was fantastic. I was very impressed with the thoroughness and detail of the report, and appreciated that my specific concerns about the house were fully investigated. Most importantly, the audit uncovered significant inefficiencies in our heating/cooling that need to be addressed, and Home Energy Medics offered practical solutions to resolve them. Over the course of several months, we had the insulation in our attic and garage replaced (from basically nothing to a lot), had our internal vents sealed, and a number of other gaps addressed. The difference in indoor air temperature consistency was immediately noticeable, and we were so grateful to have had this work done before winter. I highly recommend their services.

Christopher Miller: Our experience with this company has been fantastic so far. After our initial inquiry they sent us a very detailed explanation of how and what they do. After our initial intake information was then submitted, Taylor reached out via phone call to get a better understanding of our trouble areas and what our main concerns were so he had a jump start before we even had the initial audit conducted. He was very knowledgeable and described in length his background and what he would be doing throughout the days evaluation and assessment. He would take the time throughout the "audit" to explain things he was seeing or to answer any questions that we had. We are looking forward to continuing to work with him and this company going forward.

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: what do users think?

Kimberly Giang: Super friendly staff and great location. Room was very clean and tidy. Valet staff was fast and very helpful. Love that it was pet friendly. My only negative comment is that the shower and sink would do this weird random thing where it would shut off mid use for about 20seconds. Fortunately the water would come back on nice and hot again but it was strange. My overall experience was still 5 stars and I would definitely stay here again.

Joe Mulder: firstly this is a super nice hotel with a top location and with super nice staff. The room nicely decorated. the bed is super soft i slept very well. Only a small litte thing is that sometimes some feathers sticking out of the bed. But besides that I had 2 perfect nights at this hotel i definitely recommend this hotel.

Mustafa Rabah: For a business trip I stayed 6 nights in this hotel in January and had a really great stay; I am an Arabic interpreter (from Syria) and I was summoned to Washinton. The location is perfect, just a few steps from the subway; and other attractions such as the white house; also In the immediate vicinity there are bars, restaurants and everything you need. both the long journey and the work were tiring as I had to be around the city about 10 hours a day in the middle of winter so the 2 things I most appreciated were 1) the breakfast was plentiful and varied perfect to start the day; 2) the bed are comfortable with very soft, thick duvet that really aid sleep, i liked the duve: it was huge and wide and not single like in many european hotels. I conclude by saying that the rooms are spacious and well furnished and offer excellent comfort for business travelers; therefore I can say with certainty that my stay was a positive experience

BC Taylor: I had the corner room 314, for June 17th-19th. I liked my view. I loved my location. I loved the overall feel of the area. I would highly recommend this as a great place to stay for your visit!

Deanna Bossebroek: I hate writing bad reviews but...Very disappointing experience here. My biggest complaint is their gym, or lack of, almost every piece of equipment was out of order and the gym was so dirty that I ended up buying classes at the Barrys for my stay. I asked to talk to someone and also emailed staff with no reply. Sad. Not 5 stars! Please please put your gym as out of service and note on the website!

Washington Hilton: what do users think?

Husky Ski: Very nice and flexible front desk service. Let me check in a little bit earlier. I left my noise canceling headphone behind. I called the hotel and they mailed it back to me, and I received it in 4 days. what a great service. Room is a little dated, but very comfy and has all the things you need. a lit if places nearby to explore.

Davaish Singh: Older property on outside, rooms are nicely updated with few issues. Room service was impossible to reach, excellent cleaning service and shoe shine. this is a good work hotel if you have to stay. it is not meant for families. Served its purpose, but parking is 52$ even for self park (valet not offered always) and they have a 20$ dest fee just because.

Loretta Harrison: I travel quite a bit and have stayed at some of the best hotels around. I was truly disappointed with the check in and the size of the room. I only wanted to spend the night so I could travel home safely after an afternoon event. Parking was an extra $52.00 and $20.00 for a destination fee??? I am glad I purchased the room online cause they may have charged me for even more bogus charges. The entrance is spacious but the room is dated for a four star hotel. I say get your stuff together Washington Hilton. You can and should be soooo much better! PS. No microwave or mini fridge. Really

Virginia Milius: Booked this hotel specifically for the outdoor pool option and checked in to find that this place rents out the pool and their gym to locals. It was very disappointing because this is a business hotel and I expected to be able to use the pool but instead, it was filled with local kids and their families. Thought I could beat everyone to the pool to relax a bit for my 40th birthday but never got the opportunity. I would suggest to the hotel manager that they offer the pool to only hotel guests for a certain time period each day because that was just ridiculous. The facility itself is nice, though one must make sure to bring ports for their devices. Outdated rooms without usb plugs. Shower heads are old with lime buildup and only two water settings. I did expect more from such a highly regarded and well known establishment. They have the nerve to push sales for other destinations with Hilton sales people, stopping you in the lobby and interrupting your day. This might be the last time we stay in this hotel. We were never given our $20 food credit for each day of our stay nor the 3 hour bike rental, which was a mandatory fee added to our room stay. Just all around a disappointing experience.

VocalBoothToGo.com: what do users think?

Michael Reid: Absolutely overwhelmed with the quality of product, customer service, packaging, shipping speed, purchase process, and sales process. From the beginning to the end, I was impressed with this company. I purchased some VB-77G. The stitching was fantastic, as they stated on their website, grommets are manually placed so not always exact but they were absolutely PERFECT for my applicable. Plus who puts up hooks before they buy the product and measure/drill/etc. The sound absorption blows me away. Thank you so much vocalboothtogo! I will definitely be buying more blankets for future projects!

Raif Douthwaite: Purchased x2 of the Door Noise Control Cover (38"x90") All Black Double Layered. The overall quality of the blankets seemed lacking with loose stitchings at the top and corners (see pictures attached). There also seemed to be some inconsistent information between the website stating NRC 1.0 and the information sheet that arrives with the sound blankets, stating NRC 0.8. The package arrived very quickly, which was great. The sound absorption was quite effective at blocking sound coming into my office. With the addition of white noise, it will practically eliminate high and low-frequency noise from loud conversations coming from outside the room.

De Dee: If you are looking for customized products from this company go elsewhere. They do not customize and then when they mess up and try to give you a product you did not request they will blame you for any errors. They are untrustworthy, especially the owner. He will gaslight his customers into either accepting the product they want to give you or telling you you’re wrong and there’s nothing they can do about it. I’m responding to a review I wrote in which the owner responded with a bunch of lies about my sister and I. I am writing this review because I cannot respond directly to the owner who keeps lying in his responses. His business practices are shady and instead of owning up to his mistakes he rather gaslight his customers and I’m not about that so I’m calling his misogyny and his threatening behavior out. He is aggressive and he is a threat that I even almost called the police on him when he entered my home because he was that aggressive. He can try to lie about me as much as he wants I am writing this review because he keeps lying in his responses and I’m not about to let that go unchallenged. While In my home, He thought he could use his size and voice to intimidate me into accepting a product I didn’t pay for. And when I refused and requested my money back he got hostile and aggressive. And then he responded to that review by trying to blame me the customer for the measurements I gave him even though I sent him the measurements of the door per his request as well as video footage of my booth and pictures. All of that can be proven via emails. So ummm yeah, the written record is there. And just like his excuse to me the first time where he thought the door opened on the outside even though my pictures in the emails clearly showed it on the inside, this is another lame excuse to try to explain away his incompetence. He lied in his response to my original review which you can read for yourself. He also lied about my sister. He took both the incorrect product he sent to me the first time And refused to let me see the supposedly customized door cover because it was in his car and he wouldn’t bring it down. He then refused to commit to offering a refund after keeping both products. And no my sister did not try to break into his car or any of the sort. That is just a ridiculous and slanderous claim. And if it wasn’t so sad and pathetic it would be laughable because that’s how desperate this man is. The bottom line is he was unprofessional, hostile, and lacks integrity in his words. I request an apology for this lie from the owner. We were the ones who were going to call the police because of his behavior but he chose to get in his car and speed off. I finally ended up getting money back later on but again it wasn’t because of his great customer service or generosity or kindness as a business owner. It was because he took both products and left me with nothing but a traumatic experience. I’m sure the owner will try to provide some lame response to this review like he did in the last one, but I know I’m not the only unpleased customer that’s dealt with this company before and it won’t be the last because the problem with the company is clearly at the top. They lack customer service and integrity.

Kisha Peart: Do NOT order the custom room blanket if your build your own PVC pipe booth. It’s basically set you so you have to order their version so you get their exact measurements and it’s 50%-75% more expensive to order their version than just to go to Home Depot and get your own PVC to build yourself. I have the the measurements of my booth and it did not fit. They claim to add extra inches to allow for it to fit over your booth when this is not true. After pointing out that they didn’t leave enough room on mine, they will not fix it. This is already an expensive item and I won’t be shopping their again.

Dalia Ramahi Voice Over Talent: The owner is the company and is dishonest and apparently incompetent based on my experience dealing directly with him. They were supposed to customize a door cover for my vocal booth and based on their staff, I ordered the customized door cover and they sent me a discontinued blanket cover not customized or what I actually ordered. They claimed that I ordered wrong even though I chatted with their sales staff to get it ordered the first time. After me insisting and pushing back that they send me the item that I actually ordered or provide a refund, the owner of the company agreed to actually do it properly this time and personally deliver it. I waited over a month and I had to send several emails inquiring about the product and insisting they give me some shred of info about when I could expect delivery. In that whole time they never once followed up with me, provided me with any information, asked any follow-up questions or any of the sort. I gave them the dimensions they were looking for and pictures and video of my booth door and booth so that they would have it for the customization. The day the owner finally decide he’s going to generously come over to my house himself and install it , he never brings in the booth cover from his car! All the sudden he acts shocked that my door opens to the inside of my booth instead of the outside which is clearly shown in the pictures and video that I sent him over a month earlier. I asked him if he knew how doors worked and why he would be surprised by this and assume it opened to the outside when my pictures and video and description clearly showed the door open to the inside of my booth? He must’ve rehearsed his shock and thought it sufficient Because he had no answer and shrugged his shoulders and then started getting mad and yelling at me. He insisted that the door cover they supposedly customized won’t work on my booth. If that sounds ridiculous, it is!!! Then he had the nerve to get hostile and aggressive in my own home and raise his voice at me and get in my personal space even during a pandemic when I called him out on his incompetence and asked why he would come all the way to my house to deliver a product he has no intention of taking out of his car. I had to ask him three times if he would just bring the door cover out of his car so we can just try to see if we can make it work because I was still trying to make this thing work but he refused. The 1st time he went and got a tape measure to try to prove to me that I was wrong in the way I measured the door even though he embarrassed himself and came out with the same measurement. Measurements were in the email. The 2nd time, he went and brought the receipt trying to insist that I ordered incorrectly which didn’t make sense because I have the emails to prove it. This man I was trying to gaslight me at every turn to make me feel like I was the one wrong. He was yelling and being unprofessional. He made me feel threatened in my home, he lied about the product, and then refused to commit to giving my money back then and there. I won’t trust this company because he runs it this way. He Displayed a lack of integrity. When I demanded a refund, he left he told me that there’s nothing they could do for me and he doesn’t know when it might come because I never ordered a customized product to begin with. When I threatened to call the police about his aggressive behavior he ran to his car and drove away with both products. He took the incorrect discontinued item they sent me the first time as well as the supposedly customized door cover that I never actually saw. He is so shady and this company is shady so save your money and go to a more reputable company. I am being generous when I described them as incompetent and him specifically as an incompetent individual. I think they count on their customers being too dumb to understand customization specs. They also have horrible customer service and don’t respond timely. He finally issued me a refund After I reminded him I had no product Because he stormed off with both door covers.

Courtyard by Marriott Washington, DC/U.S. Capitol: what do users think?

BC Turk: To start, the valet parking is outrageous but there is a garage literally right down the same road for about a third the price. The staff is super friendly. Housekeeping would speak to us and ask if we needed anything as we headed to the elevators. Everyone was always saying, Have a good day”. The amenities within the hotel room were good. We checked the sheets and filters and all was clean. Sheets are super thin but worked out okay. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and sink/bar. All the you need. I like the security they have coming in. It is a two minute walk to the Metro (red line). Would recommend for location being close to a walking path and the Metro.

Garrett Robak: Extremely friendly staff from the front desk, the cafe, management, housekeepers, and valet. Everyone was so pleasant and made the stay that much more enjoyable. The hotel is very modern and has very comfortable amenities. The hotel is also located in a really great section of DC where there are a ton of restaurants and shops that are within walking distance.

Jean Ng: We read a lot of negative reviews about this place and some is kinda true. Parking is an issue BUT we found a garage just across from the hotel inside the ELEVATION BUILDING which a full day charge is only $16 max. We left the car in the garage for the entire week stay and just use the metro as our main transportation. The room we got was nice and comfortable. Although we have an issue with the AC. The temperature is constantly at 73 even tho we set it for 68. A little stain on the couch but no big deal. The room also have good noise insulation (maybe I just slept through it since we walk so much during the day) Big shout out to Miss Nu who checked us in. She just brighten our day and made us feel special. There is a refreshment table set up with coffee tea water and cookies for free after the breakfast period. Tons of food options around and trader joe’s is just 6mins away on foot towards Union Market.

ESB NYC: Busy and basic Marriott in NE DC. It was fine for what we needed but I’m not too enthusiastic. Room was clean. There were some kinda gross stains on the sofa/ottoman that were unappealing but we’re not too fussy. They charge $45+tax for daily parking but you can self-park across the street for $16 a day including tax, literally 3 minutes walk. The morning coffee situation was not very well organized. There were also some strange service issues with the front desk. We stayed in the same room but we utilized two separate reservations, the front desk seemed very confused about this and they came up to our room with a rather confrontational demand that we come downstairs to check out and check into the room again although we had been told on the phone that we were good to go. Not really a big deal but I felt that the aggressive posture was unnecessary and left me with a bad taste. On top of that, I am a gold Bonvoy member and I would’ve been entitled to a room upgrade which I declined for the convenience of remaining in the same room. One thing that I believe some other people commented about is that you cannot control the temperature in your room effectively. There is a thermostat and you can make the numbers move up and down a bit but it doesn’t appear to have any effect on the temperature in the room which seems to be controlled centrally. There were a couple of evenings where we were uncomfortably warm. On the plus side, you are just a couple of minutes from the Noma metro station and there is also a Dunkin’ Donuts close to that. You’re also about a 8 to 10 minute walk from the Union market area which has a Trader Joe’s and some great restaurants and other food options inside the market. If not for the convenience of the location and the comparatively reasonable price, this would probably be a three star review.
