Home Energy Medics: what do users think?

Cary: Really enjoyed working with Luke and Home Energy Medics for our Energy Audit. We contacted Home Energy Medics to help us with temperature imbalances in different areas of the house and look at ways to improve the overall energy efficiency of our home. I had the chance to work with Luke. Luke was very knowledgeable, professional, and personable with good attention to detail. He clearly communicated each step of the process and took time to explain his measurements and what it means for improving the comfort of our home. Luke clearly cares about the work he does and providing the best information for customers.

K Z: We had our house for 4 months when the HVAC system failed and a new system installed. That’s when the leaking started. It went on from April-August because of the instillation HVAC company with poor ethics. In August, Home Energy Medics came to inspect the house. We fired the other company and hired HEM on the spot. They impressed us with their home knowledge and we put our trust in them to help us. We had to do mold mitigation 1st and I’m grateful for their recommendation. Mitigation took longer than expected, which pushed our house repairs/sealing back. We explained our living situation of space heaters due to heat pump set at 60-62 degrees for the axillary heat not to turn on and Scott juggled things to make it happen right before Christmas. We actually had a warm Christmas morning. We are extremely grateful for the drive and extra effort to make that happen and the quality of workmanship in the finished outcome. Thank you very much Scott, we appreciate everything you did for us.

Hannah Wiegard: We had Taylor here to inspect and test our house on Monday. He was awesome. After a thorough but totally doable questionnaire about our house and our any comfort issues we had noticed, which Taylor had familiarized himself with before arriving, he spent the morning collecting a ton of data and running the blower door machine. My toddler was fascinated with everything he was doing, and Taylor was really good with us while working with a lot of attention and care. He made time to discuss some preliminary ideas about our aging windows (antique home) and heat pump system with my spouse and me and we are super excited to hear back with what they glean from the info they got while here. We are confident that the measure we end up getting which will probably include spray foam insulation, will be completely worth it and will be done right. After three years in this house I’m so glad we found them and didn’t wait any longer. Thanks Taylor and everyone there!

Lorraine Hendry: This is a follow-up to our original review of Home Energy Medics. After finishing our job, Scott came back several times to help solve problems other contractors could not. He took the time to listen to us and made sure our job got done properly. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We would again recommend him highly.Services: Fan installation, Drywall installation

Providence Spina: I asked Home Energy Medics to perform an energy efficiency audit shortly after I moved into a new house. They were extremely responsive and helpful with setting up the appointment, answering my questions and making sure I selected the appropriate services. The audit itself was fantastic. I was very impressed with the thoroughness and detail of the report, and appreciated that my specific concerns about the house were fully investigated. Most importantly, the audit uncovered significant inefficiencies in our heating/cooling that need to be addressed, and Home Energy Medics offered practical solutions to resolve them. Over the course of several months, we had the insulation in our attic and garage replaced (from basically nothing to a lot), had our internal vents sealed, and a number of other gaps addressed. The difference in indoor air temperature consistency was immediately noticeable, and we were so grateful to have had this work done before winter. I highly recommend their services.

Christopher Miller: Our experience with this company has been fantastic so far. After our initial inquiry they sent us a very detailed explanation of how and what they do. After our initial intake information was then submitted, Taylor reached out via phone call to get a better understanding of our trouble areas and what our main concerns were so he had a jump start before we even had the initial audit conducted. He was very knowledgeable and described in length his background and what he would be doing throughout the days evaluation and assessment. He would take the time throughout the "audit" to explain things he was seeing or to answer any questions that we had. We are looking forward to continuing to work with him and this company going forward.

Kimberly Giang: Super friendly staff and great location. Room was very clean and tidy. Valet staff was fast and very helpful. Love that it was pet friendly. My only negative comment is that the shower and sink would do this weird random thing where it would shut off mid use for about 20seconds. Fortunately the water would come back on nice and hot again but it was strange. My overall experience was still 5 stars and I would definitely stay here again.

Joe Mulder: firstly this is a super nice hotel with a top location and with super nice staff. The room nicely decorated. the bed is super soft i slept very well. Only a small litte thing is that sometimes some feathers sticking out of the bed. But besides that I had 2 perfect nights at this hotel i definitely recommend this hotel.

Mustafa Rabah: For a business trip I stayed 6 nights in this hotel in January and had a really great stay; I am an Arabic interpreter (from Syria) and I was summoned to Washinton. The location is perfect, just a few steps from the subway; and other attractions such as the white house; also In the immediate vicinity there are bars, restaurants and everything you need. both the long journey and the work were tiring as I had to be around the city about 10 hours a day in the middle of winter so the 2 things I most appreciated were 1) the breakfast was plentiful and varied perfect to start the day; 2) the bed are comfortable with very soft, thick duvet that really aid sleep, i liked the duve: it was huge and wide and not single like in many european hotels. I conclude by saying that the rooms are spacious and well furnished and offer excellent comfort for business travelers; therefore I can say with certainty that my stay was a positive experience

BC Taylor: I had the corner room 314, for June 17th-19th. I liked my view. I loved my location. I loved the overall feel of the area. I would highly recommend this as a great place to stay for your visit!

Husky Ski: Very nice and flexible front desk service. Let me check in a little bit earlier. I left my noise canceling headphone behind. I called the hotel and they mailed it back to me, and I received it in 4 days. what a great service. Room is a little dated, but very comfy and has all the things you need. a lit if places nearby to explore.

Michael Reid: Absolutely overwhelmed with the quality of product, customer service, packaging, shipping speed, purchase process, and sales process. From the beginning to the end, I was impressed with this company. I purchased some VB-77G. The stitching was fantastic, as they stated on their website, grommets are manually placed so not always exact but they were absolutely PERFECT for my applicable. Plus who puts up hooks before they buy the product and measure/drill/etc. The sound absorption blows me away. Thank you so much vocalboothtogo! I will definitely be buying more blankets for future projects!

Courtyard by Marriott Washington, DC/U.S. Capitol: what do users think?

BC Turk: To start, the valet parking is outrageous but there is a garage literally right down the same road for about a third the price. The staff is super friendly. Housekeeping would speak to us and ask if we needed anything as we headed to the elevators. Everyone was always saying, Have a good day”. The amenities within the hotel room were good. We checked the sheets and filters and all was clean. Sheets are super thin but worked out okay. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and sink/bar. All the you need. I like the security they have coming in. It is a two minute walk to the Metro (red line). Would recommend for location being close to a walking path and the Metro.

Garrett Robak: Extremely friendly staff from the front desk, the cafe, management, housekeepers, and valet. Everyone was so pleasant and made the stay that much more enjoyable. The hotel is very modern and has very comfortable amenities. The hotel is also located in a really great section of DC where there are a ton of restaurants and shops that are within walking distance.

Jean Ng: We read a lot of negative reviews about this place and some is kinda true. Parking is an issue BUT we found a garage just across from the hotel inside the ELEVATION BUILDING which a full day charge is only $16 max. We left the car in the garage for the entire week stay and just use the metro as our main transportation. The room we got was nice and comfortable. Although we have an issue with the AC. The temperature is constantly at 73 even tho we set it for 68. A little stain on the couch but no big deal. The room also have good noise insulation (maybe I just slept through it since we walk so much during the day) Big shout out to Miss Nu who checked us in. She just brighten our day and made us feel special. There is a refreshment table set up with coffee tea water and cookies for free after the breakfast period. Tons of food options around and trader joe’s is just 6mins away on foot towards Union Market.

ESB NYC: Busy and basic Marriott in NE DC. It was fine for what we needed but I’m not too enthusiastic. Room was clean. There were some kinda gross stains on the sofa/ottoman that were unappealing but we’re not too fussy. They charge $45+tax for daily parking but you can self-park across the street for $16 a day including tax, literally 3 minutes walk. The morning coffee situation was not very well organized. There were also some strange service issues with the front desk. We stayed in the same room but we utilized two separate reservations, the front desk seemed very confused about this and they came up to our room with a rather confrontational demand that we come downstairs to check out and check into the room again although we had been told on the phone that we were good to go. Not really a big deal but I felt that the aggressive posture was unnecessary and left me with a bad taste. On top of that, I am a gold Bonvoy member and I would’ve been entitled to a room upgrade which I declined for the convenience of remaining in the same room. One thing that I believe some other people commented about is that you cannot control the temperature in your room effectively. There is a thermostat and you can make the numbers move up and down a bit but it doesn’t appear to have any effect on the temperature in the room which seems to be controlled centrally. There were a couple of evenings where we were uncomfortably warm. On the plus side, you are just a couple of minutes from the Noma metro station and there is also a Dunkin’ Donuts close to that. You’re also about a 8 to 10 minute walk from the Union market area which has a Trader Joe’s and some great restaurants and other food options inside the market. If not for the convenience of the location and the comparatively reasonable price, this would probably be a three star review.
