Sign of the Whale: what do users think?

Jeffrey Warner: A really awesome drag brunch hosted by Tiffany D. Carter.Really enjoyed the chicken and waffles and the staff were super friendly and fun.

Apollo Ryans: Great Time. Rich the bartender knows how to pour and entertain. And with Toby manning the helm it only gets better. Next to Camelot and Umpire dance clubs.

Dom Dimarco: Went for brunch. Chicken and waffles are fire. The BLT was also tasty, kinda tastes like maybe Caesar dressing is on it. The bloody Mary’s are good, spicy and on the thinner side. Service was very attentive, thanks Amanda!!

Tani B: I went for the bottomless brunch and had the chicken and waffles and added scrambled eggs. Sooooooooooo good. The whale pail drink (I think) was delicious and BOTTOMLESS🤪. Also, their mimosas were tasty as well. The DJ was great and the service was too. Enjoyed myself and look forward to going back soon.,😊

Dorothea Knigge: Sign of the Whale has burned. Awful fire at 5 pm Eastern time March 2, 2022. Please we hope all are safe and the staff are safe.

Hunter Hageman: They were EXTREMELY overpriced and deceitful with their receipts. They automatically included gratuity and expected you to tip as well. I spent $120 on 6 shots. Definitely not worth it.

Anna Figueroa: Came to DC from out of town and made a reservation in advance of our trip. Confirmed reservation through text the day before. Got there night of and told to “go upstairs and sit anywhere”- but all that is upstairs is the little crows nest bar, no tables. The bar tender was extremely nice and tried to go talk to someone downstairs again, but ultimately we were told that we could sit at that bar to eat, but they had a happy hour event that would be starting downstairs, so there was nowhere else we could sit. We didn’t see any tables downstairs either, just the bigger bar. The floor was sticky, and everything seemed much dirtier than what we were expecting. We did not stay to eat there, so can’t comment on the food or drinks.

Krystie Wilson: Worst experience today for my birthday brunch. The online representation is not what you get when you walk in. Dirty furniture. Dirty glasses- not once but twice - lip stick stains and filth! Slow service! We waited an hour for absolutely nothing. And NO COVID PRECAUTIONS. The server actually touched the top of the straw with his hands after wiping his forehead! Highly disappointed after hearing such great reviews! Hope things turn around.

Business type: Tiki bar

Archipelago: what do users think?

Philippa Hughes: A favorite neighborhood spot to have a great (and well garnished!) tiki drink on the patio. I love the Dan Dan noodles.

Bryce Holliday: Really fun drinks! It had a nice ambiance both inside and outside. Food and drinks were good, service could have been better. We asked for recommends and didn’t really get any. Our food was coming out at all different times, some of it didn’t come for over an hour so we had to ask about it. We were told they forgot to put it in, but did then. Then they brought it out and forgot some of it a second time. Oh actually there was a really annoying part. My review was 4 stars until I remembered this. The hostess was pretty rude. When we told her there would only be 5 of us instead of 6, she rolled her eyes at us. 2 hours later as we’re waiting for our second round of forgotten food, our 6th friend stopped by since we were there for so long. There were two open tables so we borrowed a chair. The hostess instantly comes out and asks if we want to change our reservation for 6 and move tables. We said we can do that but didn’t want to move tables, we weren’t staying much longer. She said our friend had to sit inside at the bar by himself because she has reservations that she needed those chairs for reservations. So we quickly finished our food and drinks, but then one of our friends left, so the friend at the bar joined us and we got one more round of drinks. Over the next half hour, there were no new reservations at that table; they didn’t even clean it off because they knew there were no more people coming. So she pretty much just wanted to come over and make a big deal out of us changing our reservations and making us jump through hoops for no reason. I would actually wouldn’t go back due to the overall service.

R. Austin: Cute tiki bar with a low-key vibe. Nachos are a huge serving. Drinks were great, the Mai Tai was quite strong but delicious.

Maybell Elizabeth Varillas Maza: a very pleasant atmosphere good attention I really like their drinks and everything

L R: Love this place!!! Awesome drink!!! Food is good.. hot spicy chicken buns... Are hot! The only problem with this place is 22% added on as a service fee on your bill.

Sophocles Grafas: Love this place so much. I happily order more then I initially thought i wanted because there was so much to choose and share. Very tasty drinks and food and the best staff!

David Voegtle: I don’t ever leave reviews, but this place is the exception. Of all the bars I’ve been to in DC, this is my favorite (and that’s after just one visit). From the second I arrived to the moment I left, the amazingly chill and friendly staff made us feel right at home. The drinks are superb, with names as colorful and unique as the establishment that serves them - the ones we had were as delicious as one would expect from a bar owned and operated by seasoned bartenders. I’ll be telling my friends about this place, and I will most certainly be back very soon.

Rachele Clegg: I have been wanting to pop into this spot for what feels like forever and it did not disappoint. The tiki cocktails are phenomenal and the food was out of this world. We had a lot, but I loved the cold sesame noodles, the Dan Dan, and the ham and cheese slider buns. Can’t wait to pop in for more mezcal cocktails + noodles!

Round Robin Bar: what do users think?

Caitlin Cordova: The Round Robin Bar is the perfect place to have a cocktail during the holidays when you’re downtown to see the National Christmas Tree. Located inside the Willard Hotel, which is a work of art in itself, the circular Bar serves cocktails and a full menu of classic options. Cocktails ~$20 apiece. Happy hour is crowded, but there are plenty of standing options around the bar itself, and additional seating options in the hallway of the hotel’s lobby. Our bar table service was quick and efficient. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Annie Wilson: Attentive service, beautiful warm atmosphere and classic drinks - a delicious experience. The mint julep is spectacular, not fussy, and the staff are cheerful, knowledgeable and enjoyable to watch keeping bar. We went here to celebrate an occasion but we also went to see the national Christmas tree - great location for this. The historical aspects of the bar make a great addition to the experience.

Paul Terry Services Lawn Care & Landscaping: Christina and her staff are - in a word - AMAZING. Kind, caring and beyond gracious. Special requests are a not a problem for this crew. For the most unique and special celebration, look no further. Grateful for this staff.

Hue Tran: Went to the place for a drink and dessert. Service was horrible. I was eating on my dessert and the lady walking passed my table and just grabbed my dessert plate without saying anything, none of the " are you done with this? Or can I take this? Was happened.

Alex Holston: Fantastic. In the 1800’s Henry Clay brought the Mint Julep to Washington DC featuring it at this bar. Rich in history they still make this favorite May drink the same way. Makers Mark. Rose Simple Syrup. Muddle mint. Crushed ice. Our bar tender was fantastic. One of the best. We will return.

Patsy Agpalza: The Round Robin Bar at the Willard Hotel in D.C. is quickly becoming a favorite spot to have a drink and soak up the atmosphere. The Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon is absolutely delicious. I have ordered it twice now and have been very happy each time. The Bartender, Elias has worked there for 30 years and is absolutely phenomenal. Ask him to make you any drink and you will not be disappointed.

Matthew: A classy bar in a historic hotel only steps away from where Ulysses S Grant coined the terms lobbyists. Great bartenders who know how to serve a proper glass of whiskey.

Off the Record: what do users think?

Ariel Aviles: We loved this hidden bar, just a perfect "speak easy" located in front of the White House. Decor is very fancy, lighting is dark, all red walls with caricatures of politicians. Bartender was friendly, and we got some great cocktails. Perfect the end of a date, nice cousy space for great conversation and drinks.

Kimberly Giang: Came here for a light snack and drink before dinner. It was very crowded during Presidents Day weekend but we managed to find a 2 top table. Loved the cozy old fashioned lounge atmosphere. Even though it was insanely busy, our server managed to be very helpful and attentive. He did a great job running around the whole bar by himself. I did not get his name but the receipt said Vlad on it. He definitely deserved a shout out! My husband enjoyed his drink and I liked the soup!

Karen Riegler: What can I say? Amazing, amazing, amazing!Daughter took us on our visit to DC. Pear martini is oh so yummy! Lobster rolls. Potato croquettes , wedge salad! The staff is incredible! Can’t say enough about the experience! Must go

Paola Pritchard: Very old school vibes and men in suits. The drinks are good and the staff is friendly. Had the potatoes coquette with red pepper sauce that was so good.

Sylvia P: Iconic bar. The drinks were outstanding! The waiter placed coasters based on our political preferences, these are cartoon images of iconic government figures seen on the walls.

Sagar Wadgaonkar: Great bar. Cozy underground feel right across from the White House. Bartenders are very skilled and make great drinks. Drinks are expensive but that comes with the territory.

Steve Otten: My wife and I visited this place as a potential “speak easy” bar with some historical context connected to the Hay-Adams on Saturday 5/28/22 at approximately 10:30pm. We sat at the bar closest to the door. Eventually, we were given menus without any greeting or pleasantries. I ordered a Blanton’s straight and my wife a glass of wine. We advised the bartender it was my wife’s birthday and asked if he wouldn’t mind snapping a quick photo. He told us “he didn’t have time for that, and will get to us when he has a chance”. Mind you, this is a bar in DC during a holiday weekend and we easily walked in and found seats because of the lack of patrons. This clearly is of no surprise given the service. We actually happened to see his POS Home Screen and noticed 6 total tabs…. Six. The bartender eventually asked some wait staff behind us to take our photo which we declined. I asked for my check and the bartender told the other bartender “see this is what I’m talking about” and the took the next 10 minutes getting our bill in a folio. We both left our full drinks in disgust. From this point forward, I will advise all of my colleagues, friends, and family to never visit this venue. This was easily my worst experience of any caliber location and that bartender was a disgrace at best. I’m sad I wasted my time to visit, and even more so to type this review. I hope to whomever comes across it, that I saved you the time and money from the looming disappointment.

The Crown & Crow: what do users think?

Christopher Yuen: I was in town for a business meeting and I took a few friends out to this bar on a whim and we had a blast! The bartenders were friendly and the drinks were unique and delicious! I had so much fun I ended up leaving my blazer at the bar. I called the manager Graham a few days later and he mailed it back to me all the way to Connecticut. He’s awesome and this place is too!!!!!

Annie: Cool bar with a chill vibe. Came here on a Monday night at 630 and there were only 2 other groups. Not the typical DC bar. There are a few tables and the bar to sit at. The cucumber mule was really good!

Corey Nolan: Always have a great time in this nostalgic Bar. Brian "Bar Man" has done an outstanding job building his dream. Staff is super friendly and they have stepped up their cocktail game since I last visited. Glad I was able to ring in 2022 in such good company! Thanks C&C team! Stay safe!

Adriana Cortés-Buelvas: I absolutely love the Crown and Crow. Great cocktails and a huge offer on drinks. Great indie rock music, feels like an Irish experience.Graham is the nicest!

Last Call Bar: what do users think?

Josh Newman: This place is amazing. Great specials, Old Fashions on tap, hot Cheetos for purchase. Darts and a Ms. Pac-Man machine complete the dive bar aesthetic.

Barry Downs (FABS): Perfect late night Divya bar. Good drinks. Fun local crowd. Great for after a good dining experience and you are not ready to go home

Joseph Ivanov: Nice establishment with reasonably priced drinks and tasty paninis. Bring a sticker for the bar. Hole in the wall vibe is low key and chill. This place was an cafeteria in the old days of Union Market, and they really preserved that feeling with some modern touches.

Zoe Willingham: Pretty good for a straight bar. I like that it has a wide range of drink selections from tall boys to fancy craft beee; cocktails to HH rails to jello shots. Something for everyone.

Alex DiCaprio: A lot of potential but needs some work. I want this place to be a dive that all can appreciate.. unfortunately lights are too bright (due to neon signs spattered about). I would love to see a proper wood bar installed to help make a warmer feeling ... Otherwise this bar comes off sterile.

Fleming Campbell: Fun little bar with solid drinks. Not overpriced. Decent food.

Celestino Garcia: Good bar. Convenient for those living in the union market area.

Elisabeth St. Onge: Amazing music, chill atmosphere, great drinks deals, and tasty food! Definitely get the lemon drop, and the grilled cheese is a must!!

Bryan Jaret: Wonderful dive bar with elegant cocktails and darts. Great happy hour.

Doyle: what do users think?

Justin Leach: The servers were very friendly but 4-5 different people visited my table through the night, I wasn’t sure who my server was and who was just there to refill waters because everyone seemed to be switching roles. Even the host refilled my wine. They weren’t even too busy. I never got my salad, which in my situation was fine because I wasn’t too hungry anyway and really just wanted a couple drinks but normally would not be okay, and when I asked for the desert menu it took 20 minutes because they apparently only had one copy and all the tables were sharing it. Again, very friendly but confusing service. Can’t speak to the food because I never ended up getting mine.

Alyssa Miller: I usually love the Doyle however - after over a month of not setting foot in the establishment I was charged over $85.00. Let me be clear - I have not lost my card, it has been in my possession the entire time. It has been impossible to get this resolved and incredibly disappointing in that the likely cause of this was a staff member running my card information and pocketing the money. My goal has been reversed and that has been not only incredibly difficult to do - I have been promised call backs from the manager that have never materialized. At this point I don’t see myself ever going back to what was one of my favorite places to enjoy a drink and wonderful atmosphere and I cannot in good conscience recommend it to anyone because they might be stolen from.

Lina G: The best spot to kill your vibes. I felt disrespected. My taste buds felt disrespected. The three days old burger buns were offensive to my very culinary enthusiastic existence. The pickle wouldn’t take in the knife or teeth. The cocktail tastes like slushy. The bartender attends to customers not in the order of first come first serve, but in the order of shades - of course white to black. The manager looks like he hit the loto making management in the midst of lack of labor in covid era. If you came in ravenous, you’ll leave mortified or else you’ve simply lost your taste. What a shame it’s in the heart of DC. Sat June 25th, 2022. 11pm

M Whittaker: Fun office happy hour in a perfectly air-conditioned environment! Tasty drinks and snacks for all co-workers!!

Silver Lyan: what do users think?

Marissa P: Extremely well priced cocktails for this area and the caliber of the drinks/service. You can go to a dive bar down the street and still be paying $14 for a drink out of a plastic cup! The ambience is lowlight speakeasy style, perfect for a date night. Bases loaded was the best we tried, the cherry float was delicious! I’m not even much of a whiskey fan either. If you’re a fan of good service and attention to detail, Silver Lyan should be on your list.

Rebecca Carmeli-Peslak: worth every penny. such a cool classy experience. the staff is all amazing and goes out of their way to help you pick the perfect drinks for your celebration. we really enjoyed the fruit jell-o shots project apollo champagne espresso martinis and french martini. my party and i will definitely be returning soon! bonus they have a giant gumball machine

Ryley Thompson: Modern space with an interesting vibe in the basement of the St. Riggs. The cocktails are unique, which honestly is hard to do these days. Prices were fine but higher than average If that matters to you. Very friendly staff was a highlight. Definitely worth a stop on your DC cocktail adventure.

Natalia P: Best cocktail bar in DC. Service was quick and everyone was friendly. Chairs were cute and comfortable. Definitely will be back next time I’m in the area.

Blvknative: Nice underground world to step into inside the Riggs, a bunch of different drinks curated perfectly with every drink. The ambience of the place is to die for. Great way to end your night!

byron subero: Nice spot to grab a drink and relax. Very crowded cause they had special guests from NYC for the cherry festival but definitely will go back......aaaaand I went back

Rocket Bar: what do users think?

Nate B: We enjoyed this place. This is hidden gem in the basement. Drinks were good. Service was great. Prices were reasonable. Free popcorn. I would definitely recommend this place.

Baynard Marcus (RUDY): great atmosphere, music, selection of games, darts is so hard to find but they have it here, lounge area is nice, multiple bars and experienced bar tenders, floors were ridiculously sticky, bathrooms seem to not have been cleaned often enough, security was great and overall had a great time and will be back asap🤝

J J: Rocket Bar is always a vibe no matter the day of the week. The bouncers are friendly, the drinks are reasonable and the happy hour last until 8! They have games you can play and good music to dance too.

Thoff: This place is terrible. Atmosphere was fine felt like a frat party honestly. Me and my friends were having a decent time until one of them got kicked out for absolutely no reason. The bouncer claimed he was far too intoxicated, but we were simply playing shuffleboard. After that, another friend got kicked out! And I saw others being kicked out for the worst reasons. I wouldn’t go here if you don’t plan on your night being ruined.

The Dubliner Restaurant: what do users think?

H: I have never had a sublime turkey burger until I went here. Half a pound patties on toasted brioche buns with a side of thick cut fries. Great spot to hit a spot for pub food. The fries were a tad overly seasoned for my taste but I was thoroughly impressed by the burger of the day and the bison burger. Okay service. Restaurant is connected to a hotel in the back. Outdoor patio seating available. Nice atmosphere even though music was a bit too loud at times to converse.

Samar Al Kobrossy: Great place! The food is tasty and flavorful. The portions are big. The decoration is amazing. The waiters are attentive and can give you tips on how to navigate your way around the city. You can sit down, relax, and enjoy your food while listening to some beautiful Irish songs.

Kelly Hyer: Great local choice. Fabulous service and really great food. When in an Irish spot, must have the fish and chips. Seasoned fries- yum. Sooo good, highly recommend. Pretzel stix appetizer delish. Nice kids options too 👌 🌭 🍟

Brett Daviau: Breakfast was great. Salmon bagel with all the fixings. Poor server was trying her best to handle the whole shop by herself. Hope she can get some help. Delicious.

Bobbi DeAnda: AMAZING SERVICE!!! Food was ok, but the service was amazing. So friendly. So fast. So responsive. I actually left my sunglasses and someone ran them out to me!!! The French fries are AMAZINGGGGGG, but the rest of the food was just ok. Fish and chips, fish ok. Burger, ehh. I ordered the burger medium and it was well done. Probably a great spot for drinks and snacks, but wouldn’t go for lunch again. For drinks and French fries, YES!

Edward O'Beirne: Decent menu, good quality food, worth going again. Service was lackluster, possibly an element of understaffed but the place was nearly empty on a Friday afternoon 1pm. Greek salad with salmon was enjoyed. Philly cheesesteak about average. Cold beers. Nice outdoor seating view. Not first choice but would return.

craig mossinger: This is an absolute must for lunch! Service is quick and friendly! Fish n chips and the Irish Rueben are phenomenal.

Steve Meier: Great place, and of course what do you order at an Irish Resturant? Fish & Chips and it was probably the best I have ever had. Some of my coworkers were Shepherd Pie fans and a couple others were more traditional and had a Chicken Sandwich. The common theme was everyone was happy with their meal. Service was great and atmosphere was pleasant.

Madam's Organ: what do users think?

Brad Badger: My girlfriend and I made sure to stop here after she had been here years ago and loved it. Our bartender Deborah was 10/10. She made some amazing drinks and was incredibly great to us. We got an appetizer sampler and the fried fish bites were absolutely killer. Live music was great as well. Cool vibes and great service. I will definitely stop by Madams Organ again the next time I am in DC!

Eve Breier: Lovely atmosphere! The music is good, bartenders are friendly, nice mix of club-like dance floor upstairs, seated area on the middle floor, and a bar/performance area downstairs. It has it all. Also pretty funky decor all over.

James Bladen: I really wanted to try this place and menu sounded good, but waited over 15 minutes or more for someone to take my order and never did! I asked the bartender if someone was going to wait on my table and I could not hear what his response was, he just mumbled something. I was being as patient as possible and understand places are short staffed. There was a big table of around 10 people upstairs and I was by myself downstairs, I guess that explains it. The bartender was more interested staring at his phone than making sure his customers were taken care of. I was going to order a large order and I do tip good, but sorry, you just lost a customer and me recommending a place if you ignore solo diners like that.

Stacy Walker: Awesome spot, easy bar, and amazing entertainment! Check them out on Tuesday nights for great live music

Ieshia E. Butler: Food was just ok. Nothing to write home about. I am from the Caribbean and was expecting the soul food to be a bit more flavorful. The waitress was really nice and the menu was affordable.

Amanda: Great dark chilled atmosphere. Multiple floors with a partially covered roof top bar. Live bands. Friendly speedy service. Reasonable food and drink prices. Pool table available.

DiiJay Victorious: Great place. Bouncer is cool and ppl are sociable. Bands are cool. Beware atmospheres change momentarily and without notice (not for badly, just different crowds)

Alison Scott: Loved the live music, bartender was so friendly! Amazing vibes - so glad we stopped in here. One of my favorite stops while visiting DC

barmini by José Andrés: what do users think?

Natalie Caldwell: We were in DC for the weekend, looking for a place to get drinks before our later dinner reservation. There is a reason barmini has the reputation it does, and our experience was more than we could have hoped for. The attention to detail was both expected and impressive - the care and perfection that went into each crafted concoction was amazing. We described to our waiter what our flavor profiles were and he made us both personalized (and perfect) cocktails. We topped off our before dinner drinks with the brioche. *Chefs kiss* and that butter…I’d eat a whole loaf. Can’t wait for the chance to come back.

Kennith “Conley” Coleman: We were able to enjoy the cocktail flight. The experience was amazing and all the cocktails were so delicious. The service was excellent. We also tried the grilled cheese appetizer and it was beyond good.

Triloka Shanbhag: For those of you wondering if the long waitlist and tough-to-get-in reservation system renders this place worth going to or not, I’m here to tell you it is utterly and absolutely worth the wait. The experience of being at Barmini and having their cocktail flight is unparalleled. From the sophisticated palette displayed in the variety of cocktails to the servers that pay you copious amount of attention, every little detail is planes to the tee. At times you may feel you are transported to be amidst a lab experiment but the drinks made at your table using liquid Nitrogen are delicious and a spectacle to watch. We also tried the brioche bun, it absolutely melts in your mouth. Having been to a few other Jose Andrés restaurants in the DC area and always being pleasantly surprised with my experiences, this certainly keeps the streak going. Can’t wait to try Minibar by Jose Andres too.

Mukesh Bhakta: Just Wonderful. Vegetarian food paired with drink for me and a la crate for my wife. The dishes can be substituted with non vegetarian. We had 6 small plates and were full by the end of 2 hours. Each item was superb and we did add Australian Truffels to 4 dishes which elevated them substantially. It is definitely worth it for the experience. It is expensive but we enjoy these throes of restaurants very much. Staff was precise and excellent. Cocktails were unique and superb.

DeJuae: Food presentation was some of the best I’ve seen here in DC. It has 2 Michelin Stars. The intimate setting and couches make for a nice date night!

James King: Amazing food. Fantastic service. Highly recommended.Presentation is very elegant. Decor is intimate. Call ahead.

The Lucky Bar: what do users think?

Saif Al-Alawi: This is the official supporters bar for Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United. They offer some local IPA and I recommend the 3 Stars if you love your simcoe hops. The bathroom upstairs is a work out but clean. Glad I hit it early before those United fans stunk it up.

Joe Joemer: The breakfast was excellent, the staff was very nice, and the rates were fair. Fantastic collection of draft beers chosen by a beer expert.

Samantha Elizabeth: After being rejected by Decades nightclub, my boyfriend suggested Lucky Bar for drinks. I liked how dices of different sizes were mounted within the bar counter. When we sat at the bar, at first we had to wait to place a drink order. I asked for a drink menu and the bartender Shannon asked what kind of drinks I liked. They had three types of ciders - Magners, Woodchuck, and Angry Orchard. I ended the night with an Angry Orchard.

Geoffrey Fleming: Excellent bar, good atmosphere for sports and good on prices for both food and drink. Ordered a Philly cheese steak and it was delicious. Great selection of beers and food. Definitely recommend for anyone around the area looking for a good sports bar and excellent service. The bar staff were excellent, especially the lady Shannon who took care of us all night.

Michael Wiredu: The atmosphere is electric win lose or draw. Great place for Gunner fans. And the food is very good.

Todd Boppell: Great place to catch an Arsenal game! Staff is super friendly, breakfast was great, and prices are reasonable! Awesome draft beer selection curated by someone who knows beer.

Skanbass: Good sport bar. I went there a lot during the African soccer cup. One of the only bar that passes the games.

ChurchKey: what do users think?

C Yager: Great craft beer bar, knowledgeable bar staff, 50 beers on tap, wish they had less national/big craft beers on tap and more local. Extensive beer bottle list with hard to find beers, especially good Belgium beer selection. Fast friendly service, hard to notice from the street. Definitely recommend a visit if you love beer.

Jonathan Isett: Top notch selection of craft beers in DC. Also one of the most extensive whiskey/ bourbon catalogs around. Atmosphere is good, and the food comes through. The homemade tots are a must have. Great location on 14th st close to Logan circle. Stop and have a beer or two.

Rossukon Jandech: Beer Brunch Event on June 25th, 2022Great event, great employee, great service.Meet famous brewers there as well, so awesome.

Taylor Friedman: I love churchkey but the service here needs improvement. I’ve been twice since they reopened with the latest being a Saturday night around 11:30. Busy but not crazy. Was able to find a seat at the bar. After I sat down it took at least 5 minutes just to get a bartender to acknowledge me. Was handed food and drink menus. After that probably another 5 minutes to get my order in. I thought it was weird that the bartender didn’t provide water when I sat down. I feel that it’s customary to do so at a bar as so not to make people drunk quickly. After I ordered my second drink I placed an order for food as well and was told the kitchen closed at midnight. That would have been helpful to know as I got there at almost quarter til so that was annoying. Shortly before I left there was also a guy at the bar who was passed out and one of the bartenders slammed a bottle really hard on the counter to wake him up and I thought that was kind of unnecessary. All in all, definitely a craft beer Mecca but just keep in mind service can be kinda spotty. (P.S.- they made the place brighter after they reopened so you can actually see going up that long flight of stairs and the menu once you’re inside!)

Tom W: Great list of beers. Nothing I was too interested in and I love me some craft beers. But that’s not their fault, that’s my palate. The issue was the service being absolute trash when the bar wasn’t even busy and they had ample staff. Drinks took about a half hour to come out so we ended it early and just left.

Jack Rose Dining Saloon: what do users think?

Oceanie De Silva: What an Amazing Whiskey Collection!! We had a night out of drinks here with our friend who was visiting us and we absolutely loved the place and the collection of whiskeys and bourbon and so many other stuff! The bar tenders are so friendly and knowledgeable about everything! I said I love fruity cocktails with either Gin or Vodka and instant cocktails were created! Must visit in DC

Meg Salocks: One of the best collections of Scotch Malt Whisky Society on the east coast, along with lots of other unique bottles with a real range in prices. The staff are eternally nice and thoughtful, and will happily help you find the right pour for your tastes. A date night favorite if whiskey is your thing.

Anindita Barman: This is a very popular place I could tell from the crowd that was in the restaurant even after the kitchen had closed. We had the "Jack Rose Barrel Picks" flight, the "Time in a Bottle" cocktail, whiskey Wings and fries. The whiskey selection in the flight was great, the cocktail and the wings were good as well, however, the fries were not seasoned or salted at all. Service was good but the host could have done better. He just stood there without greeting or anything so we were not sure if he was part of the staff. Upon asking if he worked there, he said he did after which we asked for a table and he led us to one. :/ Parking can be a hassle as the restaurant is in the heart of DC. There is street parking but finding a spot is up to luck.

Gregg Caldwell: Have been here two times and the service has been excellent and the bourbon knowledge has been on par. Not sure how long it would take a server to know what liquor they have and the ability to speak about each bottle? Place gets loud as it gets later in the night. Make sure to check out the upstairs area.

Kevin Raisch: As a whisk(e)y fan, I had to visit Jack Rose while in DC and it was awesome. Kyle, our whisky advisor, perfectly crafted a whisky flight based on my preferences and provided very detailed and interesting facts about the story and science behind each bottle. In addition to the 3,000 unique bottles of whisky they have food, beer, cocktails and two floors of space (including outdoor space) so it’s perfect even for those who don’t want whisky.

Larry Miller: Over 2600 different Whiskies in their inventory. Great selection of rare whiskey. Great cocktails, service and food. This was a busket list bar for me. Itcwas the worth the trip.

Michael McDaniel: Truly a must-go place for bourbon and whiskey lovers. For starting at only $28, you’ll get to experience 3 bottles tasting with an excellent background on each bottle by well-knowledgeable and passionate servers. The second floor is open air with different corners to experience.

Denson Liquor Bar: what do users think?

TexCat: Wanted to stop into a bar after a night tour of DC before heading back to our Airbnb. Happened upon Denson Liquor Bar - mightily glad we did! What a great little hidden gem! Friendly, personable staff, great drinks and service. Awesome cozy ambiance. Highly recommend

Benjamin G: Was visiting DC and wanted somewhere for after dinner drinks on a Friday night. Found this place. A little hidden but worth the walk down. Cool atmosphere, nice vibe and mix of people. The bartenders were great. They both make a mean old fashioned! True mixologists.

Austin Shaheen: Excellent service and the place has a really cool vibe! My fiancé and I were here on a Saturday evening for her birthday and they treated us to a complimentary champagne, very nice touch. We’ll definitely be back and recommend our friends visit here

Dane Fergusson: MUST GO! Walk down the stairs to step back in time to the speakeasy era. Just the setting is worth the trip; but, the drinks are incredible. Add to this the world class bartender Dinesha. Yeah, I said it. World Class! Excellent drinks, suggestions for other drinks, great conversation, asking our preferences to tweak to our tastes, made us feel like we were her only customers... and oh yeah the place got slammed with an overflow crowd... to busy now? No way! She still had time for hugs and pictures, before we left!

Matt Noble: What a great spot this is! Very old school and dim lighting, as if you are back in time at a speak easy. Drinks were all great and so was the music. If we are ever in DC again we will be sure to come back to Denson! Highly recommend to stop in for a drink if you haven’t already!

Brendan F: There is something about walking into a below street level bar that brings a feeling of vintage nostaligia. The staff is filled with smiles, conversation and great drink ideas and the food is unique and delicious. It does get crowded but that should tell you about the quality of the place. Definitely worth a visit.

Quadrant Bar & Lounge: what do users think?

Konstantin: Visited this place for breakfast while staying at Ritz Carlton hotel. Well, it is expensive but the food is good, atmosphere is very cozy and place itself is amazing. They do have buffet breakfast on Saturday and Sundays. Monday to Friday is a la carte

DJY30: Very comfortable place. I really enjoyed the relaxed but upscale setting. Live jazz on Saturdays, all the other days they play jazz, I guess from Spotify/radio. Still nice and relaxing. Cocktails are very strong and food is very delicious. I recommend to get a reservation ahead of time; it can be crowded in the bar area (small bar) if you dont come at an early time (aka 8pm/2000). Highly recommend.

Shaun “Shaun386” Jafarzadeh: Had dinner here after a long drive to DC. Food was good service was both friendly and knowledgeable. Bar staff was helpful with recommendations and knew the local bar scene well.

Ahmed Hameed: My gf and I were at this place, the drink cup broke and cut my girlfriend’s hand. They fixed this incident. 5 minutes Later the server brought the check and asked me to pay and leave because they were slow !! It was such a big lie … the place was full of customers and he had a big attitude when he seen lil salad dropped on the floor. I was extremely disappointed and treated racistly based on how I dressed First time and last time at this place.

Lola's: what do users think?

Mike Laarry: Stopped by last week to grab some dinner and watch the games. Ordered the short rib entree w/veggies, I really didn’t like it. When I order short ribs I don’t expect for it to be on a tomahawk size bone, the glaze was flavorful but It just wasn’t for me. The bartender Tristen was cool. I’ll come back another day and try something different.

Moses Grossman: I proposed to my sweetheart here and the entire experience was wonderful. The staff was absolutely amazing and so helpful. Thanks for the beautiful experience!

Nina Mcrae: Only gave it one star b/c I had too. PLEASE stay away from this place. Food is disgusting. Manger is homophonic and a racist. He charged us for food we didn’t eat and food we didn’t ask for. It’s no life in the place. BEWARE.

Vanessa Long: Popped into this bar a couple weeks ago because the pride flag outside caught my attention, I was instantly greeted by Tristan the bartender GM and was made feel welcome. This weekend I had to bring my family in to meet Tristan and enjoy their delicious baked mac and cheese, satay skewers, and ribs!! Will be back again to enjoy their pool table, lounge area, and of course Tristans welcoming energy!

Deegant Adhvaryu: Great Mac and cheese, drinks are solid, and Ali is the nicest bartender. He made us feel very welcome and chatted with us frequently.

Sarah Bartholomew: Bartender was insanely rude. I walked in with a friend and said we just wanted some drinks and she rudely replied well you’re at the bar what do you want? I thought perhaps maybe there was table service and mentioned that and she laughed. I am a bartender and have been working in the industry for around 10 years. I have NEVER spoken to a patron the way she spoke to me and it would have never been tolerated by any company I have worked for. I asked my friend if it was me being over sensitive or if she thought the woman was rude and she said yes she was rude. I then went online to look at reviews and it seems almost everyone else feels that way as well. I am appalled. Especially during COVID as an industry worker I respect and value my guests so much and could never imagine treating people this way and expecting them to tip me or ever return. I NEVER write reviews, but thought this woman was so awful she deserved to be called out. There are so many good workers in the industry, you should maybe consider cleaning house and hiring people who genuinely care about your company and value guest experiences.

David Handler: Food is pretty good and the vibe is cool, though kind of pricey and staff is very overworked.

Dave Donahue: We found this place as it was one of very few places open late after a rain delayed Nats game, while waiting for uber prices to drop. The lady who was the bartender was extremely rude and acted like she had a chip on her shoulder the whole time - seemingly to everyone. I heard one person ask if she had a beer list, she replied “over here honey” and pointed at the tap handles, then walked away. Another customer asked if she had a menu, she said “no” and then walked away. Basic mixed drinks with well liquors were a little on the high priced side, but not out of the normal range for DC. It could be a cool little place if they had a half friendly or helpful bartender.

Samantha Kahn: Great food! the pork sliders are a must , the meatball flatbread was so yummy! Service was amazong and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming.i really enjoyed their playlist and it might make me seem old but I really enjoyed that I could hear the music enjoy it but not have to scream over it 😁. Tristen was super welcoming and we will def. Be back

Ellipse Rooftop Bar: what do users think?

Morris Jones: The good - This is a nice place to enjoy time with a friend...great views. Food offerings were on par for a roof top bar. The "beef" - The bar area is small...enough for hotel guests to enjoy and groups of two. The bar size and the bar service are not satisfactory for handling a group or a table with more than 3. Do not go expecting table service (none). You must go to the small bar to order everything...paying for a table or a round of drinks was a challenge. Paying for a $40 shot of whiskey served in plastic glassware (?)...I did enjoy my table guests, the view and the weather. I expected better service...

Donovan Craig: Nice rooftop with a bit of a view, the atmosphere was very relaxed, just wish they were open to the public more as we saw multiple days where they were closed for private events.

Rich Opalinski: Weather was perfect while we stayed, both bartenders were attentive, great views

M planetmike: (Update 2022 June) Arrive early if you want a seat. Conveniently located to McPherson Square. There is a happy hour. However due to its relatively small footprint and its connection to the hotel it is often reserved and unavailable. Recommend calling ahead to verify it is open. It is a refreshing spot on summer days.

Rachel Cipkins: Perfect place to unwind after a day at the national mall

Adara Ney: A perfect place for an after work drink to watch the sunset and soak up nice weather. Great for group events too! I hosted a team happy hour with 20-30 and had a great experience. Great food (and prices!) on the catering menu and Brittany did a fantastic job coordinating the event.

David Cuevas: they never used real tequila on my tequila cocktai, I got a headache before I finished it.

Brenda-renee Vance: I enjoyed myself. The bartender was amazing. My drinks was good beginning to end.

Mike Rucki: Overpriced drinks, very limited bar selection, and not enough bartenders on a cramped rooftop. A decent view earns an extra star, but I cannot recommend this spot.

Old Ebbitt Grill: what do users think?

Natalia Mednikov: There are straightforward American-style food. This restaurant is best known for its huge old-school oyster bar—think lots of dark wood, brass fixtures, and big mirrors. That oysters was fantastic and fresh. We’ve enjoyed also cheese sampler, fried calamari and baked oysters. Everything they do is absolutely delicious. The service was very fast and friendly. We were happy to choose this great restaurant to end our busy day in Washington, D.C.

Aditya Karandikar: Had an awesome time here as a late night/ early next day stop. The food was quite nice and fairly refined, especially at such a late hour! The atmosphere was popping as well which made it more enjoyable. Service was very friendly and they had great oysters. Fresh complimentary bread never hurts either…

Sam M: This place is one of the more famous restaurants in DC. I visited this spot during brunch and it was packed. I would definitely recommend making a reservation for both weekend dinner and brunch services. I started with New England clam chowder and some salad dish. For entrees, I got eggs benedict and catfish. All the dishes I ordered were pretty good. But, I definitely enjoyed their desserts more even though I was pretty full before it. Their key lime pie and salted caramel bread pudding were both amazing! Staffs were very accommodating and attentive during the whole service. I’m planning to visit this restaurant and will get some oysters and burgers next time. I heard they are pretty good. I definitely recommend this place to celebrate any special occasions.

Suzi Figueroa: Wow, wow and wow! A friend recommended this establishment to me when I asked for dining recommendations for my upcoming DC trip. I am so glad I listened. The warm and inviting ambiance matched the service. And the food? Oh my goodness. Delicious. My SO ordered meatloaf. Who knew meatloaf could take on a such an extraordinary presentation.

Elaine Viegas: AMAZING! There is no other word to describe it. Since we arrived until we paid the service was perfect. I couldn’t be more happy for their food, service and kindness on my birthdays lunch. We didn’t mention that it was my birthday but they saw on my profile and as soon as I arrived they asked to confirm and no only brought my desert with a candle and a cute chocolate happy birthday place on the top. Our server was amazing, she arrived singing happy birthday, was very classy and really surprised me. Thank you for the excellence in your service. BTW the food it’s top quality, my oysters and shrimps were fresh abs really tasteful.

Jelena M: Great food, great price, great service! The waiter we had was so nice, knowledgeable, and friendly! The calamari was very good, but watch out for the spicy peppers in it . My salad was yummy! I usually never order salads, but I am glad I did as the dressing was citrusy and refreshing! They also give warm bread and butter while you wait 😍
