Zach Geller: My experience with Magnolia was abysmal. I called Magnolia on a Thursday asking them for the first available appointment because my air conditioner was dripping a lot of water every time it turned on. They said the first time available is that Sunday... fine, I get it’s the busy season. Sunday comes along and the technician’s equipment, a wet vac, isn’t working and says he will have to come back when it is working. He notes that the cause of the problem is likely the condensate line and that he will call to schedule the new appointment. Days go by and I don’t hear back from him or anyone at Magnolia so I called again. It is now Wednesday, 6 days since my first call. Miraculously, they say he can come that day! I stay home that day and wait for his call but it never comes. Late that evening I get a call from the tech saying he can’t come that day but he’ll be there Friday morning. He arrives on friday morning with his wet vac and nothing else and vacuums out the condensation pan and then asks for paper towels - I figure he’s cleaning up some of the splashed water that got on the walls and floor. Then he says something along the lines of “if the problem persists, we will need to rebuild the condensate line” and hands me his card reader to pay the bill. $189 dispatch fee and $235 for vacuuming out the pan. I was shocked. Had I known he was just going to vacuum out the pan for $235 and not actually fix the problem, I would have spent the $200 at Home Depot to buy my own wet vac. Unsurprisingly, the drip started back up within the day but was coming from a different spot now. I followed up directly with him and then with the dispatch team. I asked for them to apply the money I already paid to actually repairing it... a full week later and I still have not heard back. I’ve never felt like anyone has ever taken advantage of me so aggressively before. $424 is no small amount of money, especially considering the time I needed to put into this for negative results. Not to mention that when I hired a more competent company to clear the condensate line, they found the paper towels I handed the Magnolia tech shoved into the pan which caused the leak to move and damage even more drywall. I’m still waiting for my refund. Make this right, Magnolia. Service: Repair HVAC

Matt Toigo: I've had Magnolia do work for me twice and both times they've been outstanding. I needed advice on an old boiler and Angel clearly ran me through everything I had, checked everything over, what service options were available, and didn't try to scare me into servicing anything or buying a totally new system. Really appreciate having all the info I needed to make good decisions on maintaining or replacing what I had. I had another plumbing company no-show for a job, called Magnolia up, they got Nelson here at 9AM the next day. They gave me an estimate before starting any of the work, talked me through everything they were going to do, and capped a gas line and installed a new tub faucet in 2 hours. Life is too short to deal with contractors who don't communicate well or show up so I'll call them every time now for anything plumbing/heating related. Chris Faircloth: The customer service at this company is atrocious. I have been rescheduled and cancelled on multiple times after providing a down payment and being repeatedly assured that service would be performed during the scheduled appointment. I will update this review if they ever actually fix the air conditioning but so far we are going on week 5... Update: The AC has been fixed but at double the cost that was estimated based on the initial visit. While the technician was kind and apologetic, I will be looking elsewhere in the future.

Alonzo F: Magnolia Plumbing Service. A couple of days ago I noticed water was leaking from my hot water tank. Call around for estimates for a tankless water system but was shock at the prices. I call several companies for the estimate and decided to go with a regular tank water heater. I chose Magnolia Plumbing to replace my tank. The plumbing service technician was mainly why I chose this company. He followed up that night with a call to see if I made a decision to go with his company. He saw that my water was ready to go and to call in the morning if I had any problems. Sure enough, that night the water tank fail and water all over the place. I called the plumbing technician Pasquale Skok, he call back and told he would check his schedule and see if he could come that morning. He did come and installed my new water heater and this is the first time that I received such great service from a Plumbing company. Magnolia Plumbing your technician is a true value to your company. Bill Lawall: After having them come out and determine that we would need about 1k worth of services we were not able to do on the first appt. Paid for coming out and giving an estimate. Next made an appt for 2 weeks later on the only day the building can/would turn off the water to do the work. wanted first thing and was told they would be there between 8-10. Day of appt they canceled at 9am! Never will i use again and i suggest you think twice before scheduling because who knows if they will show!!!! Services: Shower repair , Plumbing leak detection

Steve Kramer: I have been a Spartan customer for several years, now, and always found their plumbers to be well qualified and professional. For today's job (which was to repair a leak in our sink), David was no exception to this rule. I found him to be not only incredibly competent, but extremely polite and cheerful. He carefully explained all of the work he would be doing prior to performing it. He arrived exactly on time and cleaned everything up before leaving. And the area below the sink is now completely dry! I will be requesting David the next time I need plumbing assistance. Thank you, David, for your great work!! Service: Plumbing leak detection

Peter Mott: This company's web site says "voted best in DC seven years in a row" and "BBB A+ rated". Buyer beware! We have used them occasionally for many years. In the past, they would show up on time, do a good job, and charge a fair price. However, they have lately changed their billing practices, and now charge by the job, not by the hour, and the result is their prices have more than doubled. When we called to complain, they gave us a lecture on capitalism. We are remodeling a small bathroom. Called them to cap off supply and drain lines, and install three simple shut off valves -- an easy job. Total cost of components from Home Depot was $28.91, and it took them 90 minutes to do it (total time in to out the door). Their fees were: Three angle stop valves -- $645 2" PVC cap -- $189 1/2" copper cap -- $278 (They waived the $89 dispatch fee) TOTAL $1,112 I would expect to pay about $400 for this job. After receiving this exorbitant invoice I contacted them using a different name, and asked them to quote this exact work. They said they would send a tech for $99 ($10 more than what is on their web page, what they charged us last month), and the tech would review the job and provide the quote. So when you call for their service, the tech shows up and gives you a huge price, and then stands and waits for you to agree to it -- after you already owe them the $99 dispatch fee. Professional, thorough in his troubleshooting, he explained everything - and was not in a condescending. Best service, I've had in a very long time! Taylor Thomas: I needed my radiators flushed. They called when they were in route, as promised. Very professional. Matthew (who wore a mask) explained what he was doing and why. Kaprice Gettemy: My furnace sounded like a jet engine when I turned it on this morning - not ideal for Airbnb guests checking in for the Thanksgiving holiday. I called several plumbing and heating companies. The first came out and the technician asked if I had any tools. Seriously? Spartan called just as I left but their technician, Matthew L., let himself in using the house code, listened to the furnace noise with me over the phone, then proceeded to to do his thing - with tools! He called me back about 20 mins later, reporting he'd diagnosed and fixed the problem...a piece of insulation rubbing against the motor was the culprit. He charged me for just the service call. The other company told me they'd have to order a new motor and replace it to the tune of $400, but they didn't even check it because I only had a screwdriver. Gabriel Gopen: Polar Bear installed a ductless mini-split for us and they were some of the best contractors that I have ever dealt with. We needed to convert a sun room into a home office. A sales rep came out to discuss options and look at the space. He walked through all the details from where the unit would go to the conduit lines. When the unit we ordered couldn't be delivered, they upgraded our unit at their expense. Great company, highly recommended! Services: Ductless heating & A/C services , Heating system installation

Anne Miller: Our heater stopped working and it very cold in our house. Polar Bear did come out on a Sunday in a timely manner. The owner seemed friendly. He was wearing a mask but it kept coming down as he was talking so it was pointless. He told me I needed a new furnace costing $5200. My furnace is only 10 years old, we bought a very good model and was told it would last 15 to 20 years. He told a very inappropriate political joke during our conversation and is very good at selling. He went on and on about why it wasn’t worth repairing. I thanked him and decided on a second opinion. The next day another company came in and repaired it for $750.00 and assured me the furnace will be good for another 10 years. The parts they repaired were not even close to what Polar Bear said was wrong with it. Buyer beware and always get a second opinion. I do not recommend Polar Bear!

Tim Rann: Very friendly team and easy to schedule. Purchased the 2x annual service contract. The first AC inspection went smoothly, although the technician didnt really clean anything (just made sure everything in working order). Suggested I use a hose to clean the condenser on my own - had hoped they would do this. My unit started leaking a few months later, causing some minor flooding in my basement. Had to call Polar Bear a few times over the weekend before they confirmed that they don't send anyone out on Sat or Sun. Was able to get an appt on Monday afternoon - no real harm done, but would have been nice if they were upfront on timeline (esp for "priority service" per my service contract). Technician very quickly identified the core issue and getting an estimate for a new system one day later. Overall, pretty happy with Polar Bear - customer service very pleasant, technicians on-time and very nice / to the point.

Tracy Roman: We had a great experience with Polar Bear. We called them in the middle of a heat wave and they had a technician out to us the next day. The technician was on-time, courteous and quick. He diagnosed the problem in a few minutes, fixed it on the spot, and made recommendations for future maintenance of our system. Also, the employee who answered the phone and scheduled the visit was very courteous and helpful. All in all, we are extremely satisfied and will use them in the future for any heating and AC problems.

Sophia Malone: I highly recommend Polar Bear Air Conditioning and Heating for AC installation. I own a 1913 row house in Washington DC and after eight long hot summers, I finally decided to have central AC installed. After getting estimates from multiple companies in the area, I decided on Polar Bear. Joe Kelly, the owner, provided exceptional ideas for installing central air in my older home. The duct work went through the attic and walls, so no exterior ducts with drywall were needed. Mr. Kelly offered the best, most competitive price. Communication with Mr. Kelly and his crew was easy. I didn't have any concerns about the crew working in my house and they were respectful of my space and pets. The project was completed ahead of schedule. I'm very pleased with this investment of AC from Polar Bear and look forward to enjoying a cool, comfortable house next summer.

Amy Bishton: This fall, when my 20 year old gas boiler would not fire up upon first use, I contacted Polar Bear to take a look. Their response was incredibly quick, with a tech dispatched on Monday afternoon based on a Sunday evening email. The tech arrived promptly, worked efficiently, was knowledgeable and willing to answer all my questions on boiler operation. Fortunately, the problem turned out to be minor (pilot light out), but it is re-assuring to know I can confidently turn to Polar Bear when I have HVAC needs.

George Grabow: Contacted Michael and Son for general plumbing and pipe repair in a location that had very difficult access. One of their highly experienced plumbers, Eric Blackmon, called and asked to see if he could come early. I was overjoyed as our water supply had to be turned off. Erick immediately assessed the situation and briefed me on some of the complexities and how he planned to proceed with the repairs. He kept me completely informed of his progress and asked me to inspect the project when completed. He was very knowledgeable and shared some of that with me. He then asked if I needed any other repairs work and then made some expert suggestions of other potential problems that I should keep my eye on. This was a very friendly approach with no pressure applied - information only, and I appreciate that. I will certainly ask for him for any future plumbing needs. Brittany Booker: Our service person was very nice and knowledgeable and completed the work in a timely manner. However, the work (electrical panel replaced) that was done to me is "incomplete" but according to M&S it is complete and we would have to get a "handyman crew" to fix the dry wall that the Michael & Son employee cut out and drilled back in a sloppy manner. I emailed Michael and Son's customer service and was told it's an additional cost for the dry wall to be fixed..usually costing $350 extra. Also, originally we were going to use their "leasing program" in order for this unexpected job to be completed. We asked every question we could think of to our service person and the bank they use for this program. It was not explained that if we paid it off early that there would be a "buyout" to complete the 120 month contract they wanted us to sign. ($10k total) This whole process to me was not very smooth and to honest "incomplete" due to the extra dry wall that had to be cut below the paneling. UPDATE 4/7/22 We were told the job was "complete" about a month ago, however when the Dominion person came out today to inspect the final project, there was a copper wire that wasn't grounded. Carol Willis: It is unfortunate that this company sends standard responses to complaints and does not reach out directly to the customer. If the person responding to my posting had taken the time to review my account they would see that I called and asked to be contacted by customer relations several times. I am stuck with this heating/hot water heating system that I paid $15,000 for and only worked for 3 months. I am very disappointed. This company installed a furnace and hot water heater system in November. Three months later I discovered water leaking from the system, there was water all over the floor. A tech came out on a Wednesday but was able to make the repair. The tech shut off the valve and had me turn off the system. He returned the next day and stopped the leak. Due to warmer than normal temps I didn’t realize the heat was not working and on Saturday morning the temperature in my house was in the 40s. A tech came out for the third time on Saturday but wasn’t able to fix it. I would have to wait until Monday. The tech returned for the forth time, was here for about an hour. He left saying that he thinks he knows what the issue is but it is 1100 on Monday and I am still without heat and hot water and waiting for the tech to return. I don’t have any confidence that even if this system is fixed that it won’t break down again. I began calling customer service on Saturday when it was clear that the system couldn’t be fixed. I asked for a replacement of my system. Unfortunately the people who could help were not available on the weekend. I waited until 8 on Monday and still had not received a called. At this point I was quite angry. I finally received a call back and I vehemently expressed that I wanted a replacement system. I was told it didn’t work that way and he wasn’t in the mood to be yelled at and hung up. I have been without heat and hot water since Friday and I am unsure when my system will be repaired.

Christine: Michael & Sons has done my furnace installation and electrical panel upgrade as well as regular maintenance on my A/C and heating. They are always professional and are mostly on time. They could be a little better about cleaning up after themselves but it’s not a huge complaint since they do a good job on the actual project at hand. There are small things I wish they would be more clear about such as they won’t be patching the square they cut out of my wall to work on the electrical panel so I have to find someone to do that as I’m not handy myself. They’re not the cheapest service but they’re not the most expensive and most of their services have a pretty good warranty that’s included. Hong Qiang: Our 15 year old water heater had to get replaced and I was able to get next day service through online scheduling with Michael & Son. The technician came right on time. It was a big job to be done by one person not to mention he has to go get the new unit and to haul away the old one. 5 hours later our hot water system is back in business. R and D: Michael & Son - Plumbing – Shower Repair - 2/23/2022 The technician respected my property by putting on foot covers at the door (each time) and not parking in my driveway without asking. I appreciated that the technician followed health protocols for wearing a face mask. The technician asked about the problem and listened to my concern (“The shower will not stop dripping”). The technician explained his assessment of the problem based on his inspection and he offered a solution. He offered assurance that Michael and Son could fix the problem and the price (up scale) for the service. The technician completed the repairs promptly and professionally. After he completed the repair he showed and explained what he had done. While I am very satisfied with the completed repair, my confidence in Michael & Son could have been boosted higher if the specifics of the written warranty for the services and parts I received today was highlighted on the invoice. Syed Younus: NICE Heating & Air was amazing, from the get go when the sales person came, to understanding options / pricing / financing with the main office, all the way through the technical side of things with the installation crew. I’m extremely happy I went with NICE- there are a lot of HVAC installation crews out there but I truly think this business thinks of the customer first. They use great technology in terms of scheduling and are transparent with what they’re selling (equipment, cost) which I appreciate, as many other companies refuse to do the latter. The entire crew was patient, flexible and customer-service oriented. I highly recommend NICE and will use them going forward for maintenance. I know I’m in great hands with them! Rich Ressler: We've used Nice a few times now both for our furnace, AC, and our tankless hot water heater. The service each time has been excellent -- technicians were on time, friendly, and very helpful. I ask a lot of questions, and the technicians did a great job explaining how all of our systems function, what they were testing, and what they found. Our most recent service was more involved, and required replacing our furnace's control board. Rolando did a great job, and even managed to pop over to a supplier to get the necessary part to get the repair done in the same afternoon. Lew Williams: I recently contracted Hugee Corporation to replace an aging Carrier unit with a High Efficiency (16 Seer) Goodman condenser, coil and humidifier. The HVAC technicians were professional and very knowledgeable. The entire installation was successfully completed in less than three hours. All of the old equipment was hauled away and the technicians used lots of company provided floor coverings for extra protection making cleanup quick and easy. Brenda Pilgrim: Yesterday I called Hugee Corporation for their help in fixing my air condition unit that was not working. Around 9:30 a.m. this morning, the company dispatched one of their worker to my home, and upon checking the system, he was able to spot the problem right away. He discovered the compactor was bad, he when to the shop to retrieve the new part for the AC system, replaced it and the system is working awesome. Hugee Corporation was very professional and the technician was well verse as to what was required for the system to work properly. My family was very happy with the service that was rendered. I am therefore recommending Hugee Corporation as an excellent Air Condition Company. I will make sure and past on this information to all of my family and friends. Kawytae Norals: I recently hired Hugee Corporation to come out and resolve my issue with my AC unit, as well as figure out why my 3rd floor was not cooling to my standards. They performed an assessment, and it was determined that I may need AEROSEAL, as well as a duck cleaning. Upon them starting and running the pre-aeroseal work, it was determined that that was not the issue, and the duct work was clean (honesty). It was later determined that I needed my AC unit serviced, as well as repair a rip in the duct work in the attic. Receiving honesty and integrity from a business goes along way in my book. It is one of the most important qualities when dealing with companies that you have never worked with before. I highly recommend them. Adam Fine: Worst customer service and transparency. It is impossible to get someone to even get back to me in a timely manner with a quote. It was simple enough to get a diagnostics visit set up (though they scheduled it for the wrong day by mistake). Then charged more than double what I was quoted for the diagnostics visit. Really unprofessional. Severe lack of transparency when it comes to quoting/billing. Do no recommend anyone uses this service until they drastically improve the way they do business. Pro Functional: Between being overcharged on more than one occasion, redundant diagnostic fees, breaking the heater while fixing the A/C, and then charging us to fix the heater that they broke, I felt compelled to share my experience with HUGEE Corporation. First, we must use HUGEE due to the fact that our home's HVAC unit was installed by them and is serviced by them per our home warranty terms. On 6/26/2019 we called HUGEE because our air condition was intermittently failing. It would not blow cold air consistently. HUGEE sent a tech and unfortunately, the system was blowing cold air at that moment. We were billed $125 for the diagnostic and $95 for the tech to literally just show up and tell us he can't do anything since it is working. We paid the $220. I agree that it's difficult to diagnose an intermittent problem. Bill paid. On 7/22/2019 the HVAC finally completely fails. They again charged us another $125 diagnostic fee + labor. I felt we had already paid the diagnostic fee on 6/26/2019 which resulted in nothing. Whats worse is this time they charged us twice for the labor since they sent two techs. Each tech accrued an hourly rate. What's odd is that the 2nd tech's job was literally holding the door open. I would have suggested using our door stopper. The techs were friendly and I was happy that the AC worked so left it at that. On 8/2019 our 2nd HVAC unit failed completely. Keep in mind that both HVAC units were installed by HUGEE. I called HUGEE and asked for an estimated cost to avoid being blind-sided. The lady on the phone explained it would cost $125 for the diagnostic fee and $90 per hour. They sent a tech who confirms that the HVAC had indeed failed and charged me a $125 diagnostic fee and says he'll need to order a part and install it on a future date. Fine, that's fair since he had to drive here. On 9/2019 the part finally arrives and HUGEE Corporation sends a tech to install it. Since I was told it was an hourly job I noted the start time and end time. The total time to complete the job was hour. But they charged us $425 for the visit when the 1 hour should have costed us $90. This was over 400% more than what they quoted us. When I asked why he said "That is just what my boss told me to charge". I called the office and the lady confirmed that she told us $125 for the diagnostic fee and $90 per hour. However, this time they had to charge $425 since the part was under warranty, which made no sense. This was not disclosed to us on the initial call or any time after ordering the part. At this point, I was annoyed but not compelled to write a bad review. It is now 11/5/2019 and in VA it's when it gets cold. We turned our HVAC unit to heat. We immediately noticed that there was no hot air. I reluctantly called HUGEE and again asked for a cost breakdown. The gentleman explained that it was now a $45 trip charge and $25 per 15 minutes. They send a tech out and this is the worse part of the experience. The last time HUGEE came out to fix the unit on 9/2019 they failed to secure a wire so it was loose. He pushed the wire in and the heat immediately started to work. I'm not an HVAC expert but I'd expect that testing for both heat and air/condition are required after replacing a core component. But they didn't. They billed us $209 for 1 hour. $125 for the diagnostic fee when they quoted $45 by phone. $80 for labor when they quoted $25 for 15 mins. When I pointed it out he immediately acknowledged it and said it was a mistake. I am not frustrated with the tech and don't fault him at all. Mistakes and miscommunication happen. I get it and can empathize. The tech was friendly and ultimately got the HVAC to work properly. And he connected me to his boss to figure out how to handle the transaction. It was the owner/"boss" of HUGEE who ultimately made the final call to make us pay for an issue they created, in addition to overcharging us almost double. You could also argue that the HVAC should've been checked for both heat and A/C after the repair on 9/2019. The heat was never tested until we tried to use it.

Sharita Gruberg: Just stay away from these folks. I had my condo inspected before buying and the inspector found an issue with the water splitting between the tub spout and showerhead. United Service Specialists sent a plumber who replaced the faucet. I didn't use the shower until after the replacement, at which point I noticed water was spraying out from the new faucet into my bathroom. There was enough water to warp the bottom of my bathroom vanity. I sent photos and they came out the next day and found the faucet they installed was defective so replaced it for no charge. I got an estimate for replacing the damaged vanity but, rather than paying for the damage, they insisted on fixing it. The plumber came back a few weeks later and simply glued a piece of wood over the damage and began insisting the damage wasn't because of the broken faucet, but couldn't identify another potential source of a leak. Since the refused to pay for the damage, I filed a complaint with the DC AG's office but they were unresponsive to the mediator assigned to the complaint. Service: Faucet repair

Todd Reitzel: My gas furnace broke Friday evening; so I called their emergency line at 10:30pm and left a voicemail; received no callback that evening. So I called back next morning at 7:30am and left another voicemail; still received no callback by Saturday afternoon. It's not an emergency line if you don't answer it promptly; so I obviously do not find United Service Specialists dependable.
Response: Hi Todd, I am SO VERY SORRY! We actually have no real excuse. Unfortunately, we "transferred" the emergency phone to a personal cell phone because the person who had it was sick. There was no voice mail on our office phone so we were totally unaware until your message came through on Google, so we did not know the phones were not transferred. We have since called our carrier and got the problem resolved. For the past 25+ years, we have carried and answered phone calls immediately and can only ask for forgiveness and apologize that we missed you. Best, Laura

Kim O'Neill: Great customer service and also very kind which is important, because people get stressed when there is water in the house where there should be no water, very responsive and knowledgeable, and setting up and confirming the appointment was perfect. Things just flow in a very organized way. The technician Marvin is like a scientist as far as expertise goes, it is clear he knows his stuff but he explained things to me so that I could understand the issue and what to expect for the repair. Around 30 minutes before he arrived I got a text that allowed me to track the service van. I really appreciated that. Sarah W.: Our extremely old hot water heater finally began leaking one night (why is it always at night?) and after a recommendation from our neighbor who also used United for their hot water heater, we called the next morning. Their customer service was top notch: they fit us in for a service call, and the plumber who responded, Marvin, agreed that the unit was far too old to repair (25+ years - it did its job well). He gave us an estimate for replacement, explained the hookup we had that required a specific type of heater, and ordered the unit. His explanation was detailed and specific, and the installation happened the next day. It took only a few hours, and the work is superb: new unit, new pipes around it, a new on/off switch for the water going into the heater, and another detailed, careful explanation of how to care for the new heater, plus instructions on draining it, and reading the different sensors on the side. He also installed a pan below so that if there is another leak it won't reach our carpeting. I highly and enthusiastically recommend United Service Specialists for hot water heater replacement and am relieved to have found a reliable and excellent plumbing company. The process working with Johnny was efficient from initial quote to installation zero surprises. We received clear instructions on how to use the new system (which has minimal maintenance!) and we greatly appreciated the clean manner with which the team worked in our house including the tidy equipment installation. This is our first time using John C. Flood and we are incredibly please so far. I would highly recommend the team for HVAC, plumbing, tankless water and water filtration installation.

After they replaced my air conditioning system to an infinity system with a high SEER rating, my monthly costs have been lowered! Nick Doty: BUYER BEWARE!! Technically incompetent, shady business, and unresponsive customer service. Argent installed my new heating/cooling unit. Days after moving into my new build (with the new heating/cooling unit), insulation from my heat melted all throughout my heating/cooling closet releasing terrible fumes and nearly causing a fire. Fast forward a year and a half later -- my auxiliary heat (from my 1.5 year old HVAC unit) burnt out. Keep in mind, most HVAC systems have 10 - 20 year warranties. Argent sent someone out, said it needed to be replaced, and then I had to follow-up via phone 2 weeks later to get a status update. Darnella informed me the part was ordered and would be here in 4 weeks. During this time it was sub-30 degrees more than half of the time, with no heat. 4 weeks later, I called and was told the part had not been ordered. It would take another 4 weeks. Then Robyn took my call and said it had been ordered, but it would still take another 4 weeks *headscratch*.. really? Robyn informed me she would try to get the manufacturer and the distributer to cover the costs. 4 weeks later, I had to call again (because Argent doesn't know how to update their customers apparently), and was told it would be another two weeks at least. Robyn informed me the manufacturer, distributer, nor Argent would cover the parts or labor for the piece. All to say, I've wasted my time dealing with this incompetent company. There hasn't been one bright spot: their units, the installation, and the people are all faulty, incompetent, and rude at best. Don't waste your time! Seek HVAC services elsewhere! He fixed the valve the first day then I bought the faucet the next day and he installed it a couple days later. There is no more leak and my new faucet works perfectly. MaShana Davis: CroppMetcalfe was great! This was our first time using them. Our hot water had been scarce the last few months. Didn’t know why, and they came in to diagnose it. We have a tankless water heater. Although the model we have appeared new to the tech (Jared), he took time to call the manufacturer and get some advice on how to assess the issue. He even called to get the price of the part that was needed to resolve it. Jared returned after the part was ordered, installed the new part, and stayed around until we were sure the issue was resolved and we were satisfied. Jared was hilarious; felt like a friend more than a tech or contractor. CroppMetcalfe made sure they informed us on when Jared would arrive even when the original appointment time was slightly pushed back.

They fixed my furnace within days of diagnostic of the issue, it was just a matter of waiting for the part come in. Caren Penso: The nice man they sent, Yohanbes, was very professional and on time. He did my semi annual heat pump check and cleaned my dryer vent. I have this done every 18 months but no one was ever as thorough as he was. He took a lot of lint out and could not believe I had it done only 18 months ago. He told me that probably the guy before me did not do a good job. Very honest of him. I’ve been using this company for almost 20 years. Some of the repair people they send do not have much experience. Others are top notch. Many of them are always trying to sell me something else. He did not. Anita Adkins: I purchased a replacement for a broken high-end faucet ($599) on 3/31/22. The technician told me someone would call and it should only take a few days, so my faucet was left dismantled. No one called. I called to check on it a week later. I was told it takes 5-7 business days. We waited a few more days, then my husband called again. This time, he was told it could take up to 30 days. He asked to be transferred to our local office to speak with someone. The call was transferred, my husband was greeted by his name, then the call disconnected. No one called back. The very next day, just shy of a month, we got a call the faucet was in. But it was not the right faucet; it didn’t fit. Again, the technician said someone would call me, but no one called. After seven more business days I called again. I requested verification another faucet was ordered or to have my money returned. I was assured the Manager, Geo, would check on it and call me back. No one called. It is now almost the end of May and almost two months later; my sink is still inoperable. We had been customers of United Air Temp for over ten years. Our account has always been in good standing and we haven’t needed much outside of regular maintenance. The dismissiveness and lack of customer service we have received is shameful. I am requesting my money back.

Andrei-Jacquetta Taylor: Made an appointment for estimate. However they are requiring $100 consulting fee. But they don’t make that clear when booking the appointment. They ask for payment once they arrive. I will not recommend and use service. I received a call from Customer Service Manager to correct the error. I received a refund within 1-2 days. To correct the issue and I appreciated the response. So I changed my review from 1 star to 5 star based on my experience with CS Manager.

But, I don’t appreciate a $ 400.00 fee for “overtime pay” for literally coming out for 10 minutes and not doing the work because the price was way too high. Anna Elizabeth: Do not use this company. They installed a unit for me six years ago and when it had issues, they came to check it (after missing 3 appointments) and then entirely broke the unit. Tony, the tech, was really helpful. Ashley, the scheduler, was also really helpful. The others were not. I've followed up and have not heard back. I canceled my service package and yet they continue to charge me. DO NOT USE THEM. You will regret it and have more issues after they leave. Megaforce Omar: I needed a plumbing company to stop the water hammering problem at my home. I previous had a bad experience not getting this fixed by another company. The operator for Affordable Plumbing took my info and wanted me to send pics what the previous company did. I had a tech Monday morning at a reasonable time, operator gave me a courtesy call to let me know the technician was on his way. The tech who came was Carlos, he explained to me and showed me the cause of the problem, he was very informative. Techincian did some repairs and fixed the problem. Going into two days after, I don't hear any water hammering. I wish I called them sooner, I feel they value their customers. Brigitte Chemarin: I had a gas leak on my house line detected on Sunday afternoon and the gas control (matrix system) needed to be replaced. Gas was shut down, so no heat, no water. I called Affordable Plumbing & Gas LLC late on Sunday. Montiel called me back quickly understood the issue and scheduled a technician for Monday morning between 8-10 am. At 8:10 I got a message that the technician was on his way. He did a great job, checked everything, especially that there was no more gas leak. He explained everything to me and answered all my questions/concerns. The price was exactly what I was told. Very satisfied.

Nick McGaffin: I was really glad I called them. Brian was professional and went extra mile to diagnose my garbage disposal, someone else might have said need new disposal but Brian pointed out it was only 4 years old, and actually just had some small pieces of glass in it from when I had accident in the kitchen, he didn't stop until all of them were removed. He only charged me half the usual diagnostic fee, I really appreciated that. He apprenticed with another large plumbing firm that I've used in the past. I was happy with them but not so much their prices, feel they gouged me last time they came, to be honest. Even though he didn't replace or install any plumbing items, I feel I'm in capable and HONEST hands, so I'll use them from now on, I already told my brother if he needs plumbing to call them. Kirk Anderson: The good: Our mainline clogged and Rotorooter got here within a few hours (way faster than our normal plumber was able to) to snake and clear it, although they didn't do a thorough job and had to come a few days later to snake again. To their credit, they came promptly and didn't charge us, which is appreciated. The bad: they did a camera inspection of the mainline and told us that the pipe was horrible and needed to be replaced like yesterday and we'd need to jackhammer up our finished basement and dig up our front yard and they could do all this for the low low price of $21k! Now, I'm not spending $21k without a second opinion. I tried to get the video of the pipe from Rotorooter, but they couldn't provide it even though I paid for the service. So I called our normal plumber out to do a second video inspection (which cost me an additional $1k). They said our pipe looked totally fine and that no replacement work was needed. They said that if replacement work was needed, that a trenchless system would work way better, with significantly less disruption than digging up the old pipe and at significantly lower cost. I feel like Rotorooter was a bit dishonest in trying to push us into an expensive repair that wasn't necessary. All this to say, if you get a proposal from Rotorooter for a big job, get a second opinion. Service: Drain cleaning

Ali S: I reached out to Ivan and his team after my previous contractor decided not to come back and finish the install. Needless to say, I was a little jaded after my previous experience. Ivan reviewed everything, provided me a detailed explanation of what work needed to be done and then sent a quote via email. His price was very fair and more importantly he and his team are clean, polite and take pride in their work. Ivan has been extremely responsive to my questions and followed up to make sure my family was comfortable. I did not have any reservations giving his team access to my house when I was not home; they always considered my wife and infant's comfort when performing work. I'm relieved to have found a local HVAC company I can rely on moving forward.

Matt: I have used Ameritec Services twice, and both times I've been blow away by the quality of the service. Each time I called, I happened to call well after hours -- Ivan returned my call and took me through some basic steps that might correct easy problems. When those didn't work, he came out and early the next day and was able to fix the problem. The first time he came, I was out on a business trip my wife was home. My wife said he was great and did a very thorough job of explaining what the issue with the heat was, and the options for fixing it. The second time, I was home, and he was again able to quickly fix the problem.

Frank Alloy: Every once in a while I get the privilege to meet honest down to earth people who take pride in their word and work ethic...today - I experienced that pleasure. Ivan and his team are attentive and just all around good people. Adding to their repertoire, they are fairly priced and understand the worth of word of mouth reflecting their value, customer service, and standards. This is the type of small family owned business you want to support. As a household compromised of two out of state military members, we are happy to find a service team that gives an out of city, local neighborhood technician comfort.

Ivan is easy to talk to and got the job done at a great price while explaining everything he would do before he started. A year later, I had a question and he remembered the specific custom work he had done at my home. Instead of charging me for a quick visit, he gave me some information over the phone that solved the issue. I would definitely recommend Ameritec Services to anyone looking for HVAC expertise.

Holly Mason: Edit: We found out what the issue was. The tech left the door open so the system didn't connect to the thermostat and the air wouldn't work until it was corrected. I would not recommend this company. The prices that they quoted us for various services are way more affordable going through Home Depot or Lowes. Moreover, they had an HVAC technician come out for a regular check up and when the person left, our thermostat was having issues connecting to the system (there were no issues before). When we called to ask about it, they said if the technician comes back out and decides that the thermostat issue was not from the technicians visit, we would owe a $150 diagnostic fee. Robert Walker: I took a day off of work for a simple procedure which I scheduled for the morning so I could take care of other matters. I received a text the day of saying I was the technician’s second appointment. I then received a text later that morning saying my appt was pushed back 5 hours, already inconvenient losing a couple hours that morning. I returned early from errands to be home during my window. 2 hours into my window, I receive a call cancelling my appointment. Not taking another day off with no guarantee that they’ll arrive. First time using F.H. Furr as we’re new to the area and we saw an ad for a special. Gladly pay a little more for reliable service.

Carrie F: I want to start by saying my interactions with all FH Furr staff, including the customer support and technicians, were all very positive. Everyone is personable, kind, and friendly. My issue is that they are completely unreliable. I contacted FH Furr as I just moved into a new home, and immediately started my preferred customer plan (where you pay every month and get free inspections plus discounts on their services). My plan was to work with FH Furr on all my electrical, heating, cooling, and plumbing needs. Unfortunately, after the inspection showed I could benefit from a new water heater, I had the installation appointment changed THREE times (over the course of two weeks), all within an hour or so of when the appointment was supposed to begin. That meant I had to stay home from work three times , twice of which no one showed up. Then, the technician spent 50% longer on the installation (meant to be 4 hours, I believe he was here form 9 am until 3 pm). Apparently, he didn't take photographs which meant ANOTHER technician had to come again to do so, which was another day spent at home. Finally, that technician found work had been performed incorrectly so he scheduled another date to come back to fix. We scheduled for 2 pm on a Friday, but then they texted saying they'd arrive at 10:30 am. I wasn't going to be home so reminded them I scheduled for 2 pm, and they told me they couldn't make it at 2 so had to reschedule again. I mean really. Again, everyone is so nice, but for heaven's sakes, I can't stay at home the rest of my life, particularly since they have a well under 25% actually show-up rate. Chase Klingensmith: I called to schedule service on Sunday May 15, 2022 as my A/C was not working well and wasn’t cooling my condo. I got the next available appointment which was Thursday May 19, 2022. The weather wasn’t going to be too bad temperature wise until then so I felt comfortable waiting until Thursday for them to come out. This was perfect as it was going to be fixed right before the temperature soared into the 90s causing Mayor Bowser to declare a heat emergency. Unfortunately I received a call Thursday around 11 am asking if I would reschedule service for a time on Saturday due to some issue with techs in my area (they never explained the reason beyond this). I informed them that I could not as we were expecting high temperatures, I had already made arrangements to get home that afternoon to meet the tech, and they were canceling at the 11th hour. They said they would talk to their manager to see if they could keep me on the schedule. After being placed on hold for about 10 minutes I was told they wouldn’t be able to come out that day and they could reschedule me for Monday (not sure what happened to Saturday). This would have been over one week since I scheduled service. I asked to speak to the manager as it wasn’t the worker’s, on the phone with me, fault. After waiting another 20 minutes to speak to the manager, I laid out my case citing everything I previously mentioned and also asked how they could claim to provide 24/7 emergency services if they couldn’t manage to come out to a scheduled call (I even asked if I paid more for an emergency call would they be able to come out; the answer was no). I received a lackluster apology and told they couldn’t do anything. Point being I wouldn’t use this company and would advice others not to as well. They can’t keep to their scheduled calls and I would assume can’t provide emergency services based on the answer I received about this. I ended up calling Magnolia Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling as soon as I got off the phone with the manager and was able to schedule service for Thursday evening without any issue. Magnolia was able to diagnose and fix my A/C in under and hour. I would recommend using them over F. H. Furr any day. Service: A/C system repair

John Doe: Not good is too good of a review. Randy Bennett was rude, disrespectful and arrogant. He started my renovation and in the middle of the remodel he left the job for 2 months so he can work on a bathroom renovation. Granted it may have paid him more money but you do not leave a customer hanging for 2 months, stalling the completion of their renovation. He is only in it for the money and yes, he does overcharge for his work compared to other plumbing and HVAC companies. When he decided to comeback to complete that section of his job he did it incorrectly and had to come back 2 other times to fix leaks. He also lied stating (in the middle of the project) he was not made aware of all that was part of the job...I was there when everything was explained to him. He then stated to the head contractor he would finish the job of hooking all sinks, stove, water line to refrigerator and outside water line (that was disconnected during construction), long story short he refused to do so and left me and the renovation project incomplete again. His reasoning, he stated he was not informed that was part of the project he was hired for. What makes it worse is that the head contract had already paid him for the work to be completed. Randy is dishonest and not trustworthy, obviously only in it for the money and if the amount is not sufficient for what he originally signed on for he leaves the job and the customer in a bind.
Response: John Doe, To start, anyone that knows me knows I am not disrespectful and I take my job very seriously as an owner and a qualified technician for multiple trades and couldn't have accomplished 38 years of business and you can see that here on this Google site with my previous compliments by all of my valued customers. Your complaints above were never spoken about to the General Contractor whom I was a subcontractor. They have never mentioned any of these issues to me other than a couple minor things that we gladly resolved in a timely manner. The contractor started this project during the Pandemic and we fought for supply houses being open and materials being available and the risk of Covid during this project as well wearing masks and staying our distance according to the CDC guidelines. Fairfax County had their issues with how to issue permits and virtual inspections that took an extremely long time which were all approved with no delays. It was a difficult time for everyone agreed. There were extra tasks that were above the original contract/ proposal written to the General Contractor and were discussed prior to any work being done. Those items included the kitchen work which was not on my scope of work with the GC but were approved and were accomplished in a timely manner. My position is I provided more than the contract/proposal and completed the project per plan and I would gladly offer any warranty repair issues as agreed like I would for everyone we work with. Please speak to your GC if you need anything further from us. Thank you for the business.
