Capitol Hill Sport&Health: what do users think?

Allison Nielsen: It's a good gym! Lots of equipment and levels so it's kind of spread out and the locker rooms are nice. I will say that the equipment doesn't seem that new and some machines could use some upgrades/repairs (things like the fans don't work on them) but overall I've always enjoyed all the times I've been here!
Response: Thanks Capitol Hill Sport&Health! We are incredibly grateful that you took the time out to leave us this note. Our company values put customer satisfaction as top priority and we are committed to our customers.

Edward Wendel: Great gym and great trainers. I have been using gym since its opening. I am now 81 (yes, I know, old). Have been training for several years with Razonte Dunn. He may be exceptional at training high performing athletes, but he also has a special gift for taking everyone seriously and taking them to the highest level they can achieve. He not only knows the mechanics of training, he communicates a desire to make you succeed that is contagious. This experience has been life-changing.
Response: Hi Edward, Thank you for the 5-stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Asher Allman: Great gym at an affordable rate. Helpful and responsive staff, both in person trainers and with online/email inquiries. All the equipment you would need, and a really cool atmosphere/space. Big fan!
Response: Hi Asher, Thank you for the 5-stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Paxton Helms: Love this place and have been going for years. Lots of room, trainers are great (if you want to use them), changing areas are large and clean, and price is reasonable. I don't do classes but do love that they have a counterweighted dip and pull up machine. They also have parking! Great neighborhood resource.
Response: Thank you very much for such a great review! We work very hard to make sure that we are offering the best experience. So happy to hear that our commitment was clear with you!

Rachael Hunt: I want to give 5 stars to Raz, one of the trainers. I’ve been working out with him in his group classes and it’s been a great experience. He is super enthusiastic and always plans engaging and effective workouts. He is a great motivator. If you are ready to push yourself, he’s the trainer for you.
Response: Hi Rachael, We are happy to hear you had a positive experience at Capitol Hill Sport&Health! We value your input and encourage you to let us know more details about your experience with us.

Flynn Chapman: Love Sport and Health. The gym staff are always friendly and the gym equipment is in good shape. I've trained with Raz for a while now and he's been an excellent trainer getting me in great shape.
Response: Hi Flynn, Thank you for the 5-stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sam C: I do not recommend this gym, they have terribly dishonest billing practices. It borders on a scam. I requested cancellation of my account during COVID, and was told on the phone that "as a courtesy" they would instead freeze my account until I was ready to start coming back. 3 months later, they started billing me again. Shame on me, I only noticed this 4-5 months later. When I contacted them, they said "you are not eligible for a refund without proof of a previous written request to extend the freeze on your account." Despite the fact I was never told I would need to request an extension. I was never told I needed an extension, I was told to contact them when I wanted to come back. Reading through other reviews, it appears this is a common problem.
Response: Hello [NAME] If you’re open to discussing your experience further, please call us at (202) 234-5678. We’d greatly appreciate the opportunity to make things right and work toward earning back your business.

Lindsey Taylor: This review is specific to Razonte and his semi-private Explosive Performance (EP) Class. I have been taking Raz's EP class once a week for about 4 months and can see a real difference in my strength, how I talk to my body and my confidence in using free weights and the weight room. In total, I have lost about 20 pounds, and Raz's class and his wealth of knowledge absolutely was the catalyst. I have been a life-long fitness class attendee, and when Covid hit, I felt far more lost than I expect as I tried to come up with a consistent workout plan. As gyms in the area open back up I knew I needed to learn the basics of a weight room from a professional. Enter Raz. I couldn't afford personal training, but I could afford EP. I met with Raz and we talk about my goals, and after reviewing the body scan metrics, talked about realistic expectations and set a plan. Sure, the body scan said I needed to lose about 40lbs, but Raz said to me, "Realistically, where can you make small changes in your life that you can maintain to start to move towards whatever goal you have first? That is where we start". I still felt the fun, competitive aspect of group fitness, but I learned the correct form and how much weight I could really throw around, and saw a bunch of non-scale victories that I am very proud of. I think Raz's personality has a lot to do with my success. Each person in the class gets told what weight they should grab for each new movement and each person is getting personally coached or cheered on. You don't feel that lapse of attention, no matter how many people are in the class. There are times when he will push you because he knows you can do more, but never in a way where you feel like you are being yelled at or being called out. He listens to you, offers alternative movements before you have to remind him of your injuries, and all the while picking up on how you like to be motivated. From there he leans in to create a safe space for you to work hard (and it is hard) and push yourself to hit your goals.
Response: Hi Lindsey, Thank you for the 5-stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Andrew Kugle: I've been a member of Capitol Hill Sport & Health for over a year now along with the semi-private Explosive Performance (EP) Class. My trainer Razonte has been phenomenal in getting me back in shape and building more muscle than I've ever had before. At first, I struggled to finish the hour training sessions that I did once a week. But he encouraged me to keep at it and suggested several workouts that I could do on my own on the days I didn't have a EP class. Now, I am able to work throughout an entire session and have increased my classes from one a week to two. If you put in the work and time with Raz, you will notice a difference in your energy level, your strength and overall health. Every few months, we do a check-in to see how much progress we made and I personally have seen my body-fat percentage decrease and my muscle-mass increase over time. While Raz will push you to work hard, he is cognizant of peoples' limits and abilities, prioritizing one's health. He's also a funny and great guy, who gives out constant encouragement and will hold you accountable. In my opinion, the price for the semi-private classes is worth it. You get to workout with a small group of people and you will definitely notice results if you put the time and work in. The gym itself is clean and has all the equipment you will need. The staff is friendly and encouraging to everyone who comes. Highly recommend being a member and taking Raz's sessions. - Andrew K.
Response: Hi Andrew, Thank you for leaving such a wonderful review! We are so happy that you are enjoying your experience with us! It has been a pleasure serving you and we look forward to more great experiences at Sport and Health.

Devon Murphy: Love this gym! Best gym in the area by far. My only recommendation would be to add mirrors in front of ALL the squat racks. It is beyond me why half would have mirrors and half do not.
Response: Hi Devon, On behalf of myself and the team, we are so happy that you are enjoying your experience with us! It has been a pleasure serving you and we look forward to more great experiences at Capitol Hill Sport&Health.

Crunch Fitness - Chevy Chase: what do users think?

Jade Rodrigues: I’m really happy to have joined this gym. I got some sessions and my trainer Dawn was super helpful and is the sweetest person! I had never had a trainer before and she exceeded all of my expectations. When I joined the gym I wasn’t sure how to start and felt intimidated with all the equipments options. Dawn showed me a variety of exercises and created a workout plan that was tailored to me, to my needs and what I need to improve. Seeing her definitely made me feel motivated and confident to keep going regularly to the gym. Dawn is super nice, caring, and dedicated, and I would see her every day if I could!

Katerina Athena: I’m a new member of crunch and I already love it! Everyone has been super friendly so far. I’m doing personal training with Sean. He is very attentive and personalizes my workouts. I have previous injuries to my spine and he really checks in and makes sure I’m not doing anything to further my injuries and incorporates workouts that will help strengthen areas that will lessen my chronic pain. I haven’t used the showers yet but it’s super nice that they provide towel service so you don’t have to carry a soggy towel out with you. There’s a parking lot in the back and you can get validated for 100 free minutes. I got a great deal on a few personal training sessions but I will continue to go even after those are finished!

Jim Manning: I have been going to Crunch for over 5 years and couldn't be happier. Crunch acts like a "boutique" gym: the staff is very friendly; the housekeeping staff is meticulous about keeping everything clean; the equipment is well maintained. We are lucky to have Charles Foggie as our personal trainer. He is full of energy and has a great sense of humor and makes me want to do my best. We have noticed that all the trainers there are 100% focused on their clients and act like there is nothing else they would rather be doing. For anyone looking for a friendly, no drama place to work out, it would be hard to beat Crunch.

Brian Jessup: Can’t say enough good things about this gym. Housekeeping is always keeping busy making sure the gym is spotless. Management always tries to answer questions and resolve concerns as quick as possible. Front desk staff always welcomes you with a smile and most even by name. Trainers are very knowledgeable and attentive.

Zoe Watkins: I've had the pleasure of working with Selina, a wonderful fitness trainer at Crunch Fitness who is helping me reach my fitness goals. She is warm, professional and always ready to lend a helping hand. I was hesitant to work out with a trainer at first but after one session with Selina, I was hooked! I wanted to change our normal workouts a bit and add more weights and she was more than happy to adjust to my needs. If you want a trainer who is dedicated to helping you meet your fitness goals, pick Selina. The entire staff at Crunch Fitness are friendly and welcoming. I always recommend people this place if they are looking for an affordable and quality gym membership.

Scott Shay: I usually go over lunch and it's never crowded, so I'm able to get my workout in very quickly. Staff are friendly and the gym is well maintained and clean. It's a small gym but I rarely have to wait for any of the equipment, whether machines or weights. Lots of cardio choices as well. I've been going to gyms for 30 years and this is one of the better ones I've been a member of.

Mikhail Nowlin: This is by far the best gym I have worked out at since moving too Maryland. Very clean, very friendly non judge mental environment. The staff are great! And for a low monthly price compared too other gyms. Check it out!!!!

Camilo Conde: The vibe of crunch is excellent. My trainer, Sean, and other staff are extremely helpful and positive. The variety of equipment is diverse and gives gym goers the ability to train with a highly varied program structure if desired. Also a short walk from the Friendship Heights metro station.

Marie Moylan: Excellent facility. Always active but never crowded. Great range of machinery and space for exercising. The cleaning staff are of the highest quality and are always working to clean and sanitize the facilities. Covid rules were followed religiously and I have always felt ‘Covid-safe’ working out there. We’ll organized, professional and friendly.

Colton Long: I’ve been coming to this Crunch location since fall 2018, and it’s been one of the best gyms I’ve frequented in the DMV. They’ve handled the pandemic and its ups and downs like rock stars. The only main caveat I’ll add here is that they desperately need squat racks that don’t have fixed safeties. Deadlift platforms are also a huge need, but squat racks with adjustable safeties are #1 on the list in my view.

VIDA Fitness U Street: what do users think?

Benyam Ephrem: Overall: Solid gym, nothing is overtly missing. You can do everything you need to do. Summary: Basically 3 floors, cardio floor, machine + dumbbell floor, powerlifting floor (w/ dumbbell rack). Good: The ambiance and vibe is good. You feel like you are working out in a cave with a bunch of people. Bad: - Working out from 5-6/7 sucks. The gym is too small to serve the load of patrons at rush times. There aren’t enough benches & benches for presses so you find yourself waiting for major lifts. - If you go any other time that is non-rush it is a solid gym - The benches are way too close to the mirrors, you can’t do heavy lifts and drop weights. It just feels cramped. You have to maneuver around people doing heavy lifts and there are just personal space issues (when squatting I don’t want anyone near me, we have mental bubbles). - Maybe picky but the dumbbells are decent ones. I’ve used better with more grip (steel handle with a mesh pattern etched in). They are a bit narrow in grip and have plastic handles with decent grip. This nuance is kind of annoying and grip is worse so I just do few dumbbell movements now. I’d give ~3 1/2 stars but I imagine there is a huge constraint on real-estate within the city so a gym can only be so large, etc (can’t compare it to gyms I’ve been to elsewhere). But at ~$120/130/mo you’d want more space and just…more. But this was the closest complete gym option to me (.8 mile jog) and the vibes are good. Edit: Have visited all other branches. Nice to be able to switch up gyms on a day you have time to jog farther. Great branding & vibe consistency. Great value add if you want to switch things up and drop in other gyms.
Response: Hi Benyam, thank you for your review and feedback. We take great pride in our facilities and glad to hear you have overall had a great experience. I'll make sure to share the feedback regarding both the dumbbell grips and the placement of benches in relation to the mirror. I invite you to try out some of the other locations in your membership if you get the opportunity, although I can appreciate that our U Street location is less than a mile away from you and that's fantastic. Stay strong, stay well, and see you at VIDA again soon!

Smiley Sunshine: Definitely worth the money spent! My favorite is the Sweatbox Class. Lost 14 pounds within a month and a 1/2 just in time for my wedding. Took a month off, then returned and worked out until the day of my surgery. I am recovering and So far, I can only do bike and light cardio :( but safety first. Once I'm cleared to do high intensity workouts, I will go to the Sweatbox. Can wait!
Response: Wow, and thanks for this review! Glad to hear you got the results you wanted for your wedding and hope you had a great time on your big day. It sounds like you're well on your way back to Sweatbox and we can't wait to have you rejoin some classes. Take it easy on the road to recovery and we'll see you VERY soon. Stay strong, stay healthy, stay well!

Taylor Hayes: I pay entirely too much money for there to be towels in the floor from a roof leak, a scale in the locker room that has been low battery for a week so I can’t weigh myself, and RUDE STAFF. Will be canceling my membership this month.
Response: Hi Taylor, we're super bummed to hear this and our facilities team works hard to ensure these kind of issues don't happen. I'll flag this with them, as well as the management team at U Street, and see what's going on. We hope we don't lose you as a member and invite you to chat with the team there so they can actively address your concerns. Thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback. - The VIDA Team

David Gershman: In the most appropriate way, I can say that Vida does not prioritize member safety in its steam rooms and saunas.
Response: Hi David, thanks for taking the time to leave this feedback. We recently rolled out new policies regarding our steam rooms and sauna with this goal squarely in mind, so curious to hear what sort of issues you are having. Please feel free to speak to the GM at U Street privately and/or contact our DIB with your concerns. Their information can be found at www.vidafitness.com/diversityboard. We take our members safety very seriously. Thanks again.

Joe Kawly: The most decent gym in DC. But lately, they have been faking short especially when it comesTo maintenance. It feels like each day there is something not working.

Mattia Pallozzi: Honestly I have had always a lovely experience, clean fun and the staff especially has always been pretty amazing, from managers to trainers! 👌🏻👌🏻
Response: Hi Mattia, thanks so much for the 5 star review! We think our staff is pretty awesome too and glad to hear you're getting such great service. Not to mention our housekeeping team, which we truly believe is the best in the biz. Thanks again and see you at U Street again soon!

Harry Longlast: I a had meeting with Paul and all I can say is that I have never felt so uncomfortable and embarrassed before. His rude comments about my " big chunky thighs and lack of motivation " were very unprofessional. How do you even motivate someone by highlighting his/her insecurities? He was very rude and impatient. I am not an experienced lifter, however I was under the impression that the staff and culture at vida fitness were solid. The level of unprofessionalism really upset me and will for sure never come back. He was trying way too hard and pushing me to buy a membership and did not even consider my questions, concerns. I believe as a sales director or rep; you must be able to not only know your product but to hear your clients needs in order to better cater to their need. I run a local blog with over 5,000 daily readers and will for sure write about this awful experience. I understand I am overweight but I want to make the changes in my life that get me healthier; I just wish mr Paul, as a professional would be more empathetic and see me as a human being; not just a number.

Reynaldo Castillo: Positive: ProfessionalismAmazing workout experience from the membership consultation to the quality of the facility. Paul Leiby understood my fitness goals and listened to all my concerns as I came from another gym franchise. I fully endorse the quality of the experience and I guaranty you will see results in your fitness goals.
Response: Thank you for the kind and thoughtful review, Reynaldo! We're thrilled to have you as a member of the VIDA Fitness U Street community, and we're delighted to hear that Paul has been such an asset in helping you reach your fitness goals. Take care - and thank you for joining us!

Jordan Bayless: Absolutely love the gym itself. The facility is large and has a dedicated floor for compound lifts filled with squat racks and deadlift platforms. Unfortunately, personal trainers usually dominate this space and use it for calisthenics and TRX workouts. Granted, they seem very focused on ensuring their clients have a great experience, just at the cost of other members. As a result, there is almost never an open rack or platform. The locker rooms are top notch. With a sauna, steam room, and showers that have excellent bath products, there is amazing attention to detail. The rest of the facility is nice as well. Although, it is devoid of some typically essential equipment such as seated leg curls. These spaces, to include cardio rooms, are often overcrowded and only seem to be less trafficked from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Overall, the facility is great, to include the rooftop pool. However, these seem to be used as selling points to encourage new members and after joining, the organization only is invested in trying to get members to spend more money through personal trainers, nutritionists, etc. rather than ensure members spending $180/month have an enjoyable experience.

Robert Mckernan: Pros: They have an entire floor dedicated to power lifting that has squat racks and platforms so you don’t have to wait! One always opens up within 3-5 minutes even at peak hours. The roof top pool is great and so is the food as well. I love those friggin’ wings and drinks! They also never run out of sanitizer, sprays, wipes and towels. Great hours is also a plus. I have a second membership at a competitor for later hours when my schedule entails but vida is definitely my preferred location. The members are super friendly and great and I never see anyone not masked or sassy when they’re required; I’ve made many friends at the pool so keep that in mind. Value is a plus; I’m used to spending ~150-300/mo for other premium/lux gyms and I feel what they charge is very fair. Also a barber in the gym is great and they have quality cuts. Cons: Their billing department is deficient, I’ve never had a issue with a gym not being able to schedule recurring charges, and it seems they have been unable to properly due so. The $150 sign up fee that gets rolled over into credit to use at the gym, it took two months for it to get added into the barber account. I had to follow up about it several times to make that happen. Very frustrating and not a very luxurious feeling to have to deal with that as a new member. Each month billing cycle roles around and i ask them (FD) if everything is squared away and they say yup/yes you're all good. Yet for the past two months in a row they contact me weeks after it’s due saying I have late fees and haven’t paid. Even when I’ve called and spoke to them each time on the phone after the first warning they still don’t properly process it and it ends up back after 10 days in a email; you have late fees, it’s very disappointing. I know they’re able to process my card; they’ve charged that same card “no show fees” when I’ve booked for the pool and it’s canceled due to rain. So it seems sus. It took about 3 weeks of my effort of calling, emailing and talking to the front desk to get that squared away to refund the “no show fee” when they closed the pool due to weather. In that process many emails were not answered. They did however eventually reverse the charges but it wasn’t easy and the communication was absent until finally getting ahold of the billing manager in person as she was taking out trash one day. She was very kind and apologizes and seemed to be the person who gets things done. If I were the owners I’d give her more tools or people to work in her department to make their billing staff efficient, or let someone else take out trash so she can better allocate her skills to where they’re most needed. The rude front desk manager in other posts is most likely John/Jon, he doesn’t listen to guests and always responds with attitude. I tried to review my account today and was met with “well maybe you should try paying your card so it doesn’t decline”, like dude I’ve never carried a balance, and when I paid it with the same card today in person there was no issue. I definitely did not appreciate his less than helpful personality. I would like this late fee reversed but I would happily pay $10 to not have to talk to John/Jon again. **Communication** Forget about trying to leave a message anywhere, inboxes are full at their billing specialists, pool inbox, everywhere on their phone tree. Emails aren’t answered, so your only chance to have them resolve any issue is in person, provided you find someone willing. Penthouse reservations; weekend slots for premium seating are booked quickly and often occupied primarily by their employees; seems sus. If you want a spot; set a alarm for 167.9 hours before you want it and immediately book when it changes to 168 hours, else lose your chance to vibe on a daybed or cabana on the weekend. In summary: it’s a good place and I’m sure they're doing the best they can during this pandemic, but boy it can be frustrating. If it gets better I’ll be sure to update this review. Best Rob

barre3: what do users think?

Denise Recinos: I've been going to Barre3 for almost two months now, and I've loved it! I didn't know what to expect, but it's been such a great workout experience. The class instructors keep you moving and the music pumps you up as well. If you're looking for a workout that puts your body to work and is still fun, I highly recommend Barre3!

Kathleen Schwarz: After having my first child, I had a hard time finding an exercise class that allowed me to reconnect to my core muscles, adapt moves for my current abilities and range of motion, not strain a recovering pelvic floor, and still be challenging. The classes at barre3 have checked all these boxes! I’m already noticing much more stability in my core and the glute strength I’ve been missing after only one week of attending. I’d definitely recommend this for someone returning to exercise postpartum!

Kristen Sharpe: I've taken several classes with different instructors, in-person and via zoom with Barre3 DC and each one has been great! The instructors give modifications for every fitness level and the workouts are full-body without being hard on your joints. Trust me, muscles you didn't even know you had will be sore!

Nhu Girl: If you’re new, I like to say Barre3 is a mixture of Zumba, Yoga, and Ballet techniques combined. It’s fun, upbeat and challenging. They offer a lot of time slots so it’s easy to schedule a class into your day. Parking is easy to find and love their location.

Jessica Goodman: barre3 DC studios (Clarendon, Navy Yard, Union Station) consistently provide a stellar workout and a wide variety of options to keep me engaged and successful during workouts. The staff and members are very welcoming and non-judgemental. Highly recommend.

Elizabeth Charash: Great classes!! Love an early morning workout and it is so nice to have so many options throughout the week. The instructors are great and the studio is a nice respite from a busy day.

Gwen Cummings: I love this studio! It's conveniently located, immaculately clean, and feels like an oasis after a long work day. I've been to three classes so far and have yet to be disappointed in an instructor. I'll definitely be going regularly.

Mathea Pielemeier: Barre3 instructors are always friendly, energetic, and welcoming! It’s a great low impact workout and good combo of cardio & strength work.

Abby Balmert: Barre3 is by far the best barre studio in the DMV area - much better than PureBarre or BarreMethod. I love the instructors' energy and the combination of cardio, yoga, and classic barre moves. The ball, sliders, bands and weights make for great props and an intense workout. I always work up a great sweat - and shake - while I'm here!

Cally Perkins: Barre3 Navy Yard is a great experience. Impressive studio with plenty of space and fun instructors who keep you energized and going! Highly recommend.

Foundation Fitness of Cleveland Park: what do users think?

CJ Wesby: This is a great space on Connecticut Ave. The facility is always clean and inviting. The staff is top notch and very friendly. Dega is the best person to talk to. She runs the show. The are worth a visit, you'll never want to leave.

R. Montgomery: We are really enjoying the flexibility of using Foundation Fitness to get and stay in shape. The gym is convenient and friendly and we are enjoying a bonus of couples group training!

Mariana Salas: Positive: Professionalism, QualityThis gym is truly great! They have all the popular equipment you’ll need and a great space to do your own thing. The staff is incredibly friendly and the space is always clean. If you’re looking for a low-key gym this is it. I feel super comfortable and they offer a variety of classes in your membership.

Ben Rissler: This is an excellent gym with friendly staff! The facility is relatively small, but the gym has everything that you need to have a good workout. The gym is always immaculately clean, COVID-19 procedures are followed by everyone, and its online people tracker allows you to see how many individuals are at the gym at any given time. During the pandemic, this is a great feature if you prefer to limit your exposure to others. The outdoor deck is a unique addition which allows you to workout outside, which is rare to find in cities. Highly recommend this gym!

Maureen O'Brien: This gym is fantastic! I've been a member for about a decade. Everyone who works at FF Cleveland Park is friendly and professional. They know every members' name. I started training with Tony about six months ago - best trainer I've ever had. They absolutely helped me get through quarantine - not just because I could exercise, but because of the interpersonal, social atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Response: Thanks so much Maureen!!

Shahrzad RoshanZamir: If you live close to the Woodley/Cleveland area, Foundation Fitness is definitely the highest quality gym with the most convenient location!! They have a variety of equipments that can be used by both beginner and advanced lifters. Both the staff and the members are very respectful and keep all the equipment clean, which is a plus. The staff is super supportive and welcoming. They made the environment of the new gym feel very friendly and provided with any help that I needed! If you are in DC for a short time/internship, they will work with you!! Their summer deal saved me so much money!
Response: Thank you so mcuh Shahrzad!

Danielle Lee: Love this boutique style gym! Been a member for a few years and the staff is always pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. Clean gym and even an outdoor space for some socially distant fresh air workouts. Imani is my trainer and I’ve grown in strength, endurance and confidence since working out with her. Love her motivation. Keeps me on my toes. And always shares great tips for me to practice at home too. Def check it out if you’re in the area. Worth it!

Kevin Lucey: The gym has everything you need as well as a nice personal feel. The members are very friendly and nice. The workers are enthusiastic and provide a good energy to the gym. The after hours is an outstanding policy that makess it much easier for the member to fit a workout into their schedule. Overall, the gym is a great atmosphere for a workout.

Emily: Everyone at foundation fitness Cleveland park is fantastic!! Imani and Tony are great trainers, they are fun and motivating. They make working out enjoyable. I recommend coming and training with them, they are so personable and awesome. Jenee is so welcoming and friendly. I enjoy everyone here and love coming in!

Edeline D.: I have been a member at this gym for a few months and I am very pleased with my experience. While on the small side, the facility is well maintained and equipped with everything needed to help you look and feel great. The staff is great and they are always happy to help or provide guidance during visits. Another plus is that the gym is conveniently located near the metro stop and the hours are flexible for anyone with a busy schedule. Special shoutout to Jenee, Imani, and Tony who are always welcoming and kind!

VIDA Fitness at The Yards: what do users think?

Victoria Stiles: Vida is more than just a gym, it's a lifestyle. State of the art gym facilities with a seasonal rooftop pool, beauty salon, and even a spa! In my opinion, also some of the most reasonable monthly rates.
Response: Hi Victoria, thanks for your review and we completely agree - we see ourselves as a total wellness solution and are here to make our member's lives better! We're glad you enjoy the facilities and find our prices to be a great value in return for the services we provide. Thanks again and we hope to see you at The Yards again soon!

Kelly Blackwell: Is it a gym with standard equipment, yes. Is it convenient if you live in Navy Yard, yes. Are the extra perks they promise you worth the over priced membership, NO! Will you get the run around when trying to book your “complimentary training sessions”, YES! Will you get the run around when you want to stop your membership, YES! You’re an adult, make your own choice. Just know this is clearly a place with pressure on numbers so take that for what you want. Don’t go excited to start a fitness program because the trainers won’t respond and it will kill any motivation you have. Just be warned that this is probably not a place for anyone starting a new journey or looking for help. But if you just want a place to go, maybe it’s for you if you don’t mind the high cost.
Response: Hi Ron, thank you so much for the time to provide this feedback about your experience. We appreciate your business and strive to make sure all of our members have great experiences. We want to make this right! Please contact that location directly at 202-554-0444 so we can make sure your issues get resolved. Thank you for your business.

Michael Cave: Perhaps the worst gym in the entirety of DC. The equipment is rarely racked correctly, the locker room is dirty and the staff is rude and feels inconvenienced by your presence. Additionally, they are requiring boosters as entire countries (the UK) is rolling back their mandates. I guess Vida's PH professionals know more than the UK's? That is very interesting. I would encourage not joining this gym and either working out in an apt gym or if that is not available finding transportation to another gym. I changed to a gym in NoVa and it is the smartest move I have ever made.

Sandie Bonwinkor: I’m currently a new member at this gym, so far I have to say.. everyone has been super nice and the energy of the gym naked me want to go hard (harder of course). The price for the kind of “luxury” gym and energy of the gym I think is worth it. Also, I get gym shy (lol). I quickly got over that because EVERYONE is literally in their own space and world, but super nice. It feels like I’m just kinda working out and doing my thing (which I love).
Response: Thanks for the review! We are pleased that you feel comfortable working out with us here at VIDA Fitness at The Yards. We strive to create a welcoming and accessible environment, and it sounds like we've achieved this! See you again for your next workout.

Spiro Dimakas: Great gym and staff. Clean and newer equipment. Parking is very problematic after 3pm and routinely cars are double parked in the lot. Limited street parking and the larger lot at the grocery store doesn’t honor cross validation so you’ll end up missing a lot of workouts if your plan is to drive after work. If you don’t drive this is a great gym to go to!
Response: Hi Spiro, thanks for the review and glad to hear you enjoy the gym. We totally appreciate that parking can sometimes be tricky, especially during peak hours, and have tried to alleviate that with the subsidized parking in the garage under the facility. We'll keep an eye on the double parking issue down there. Thanks again and hope to see you at the Yards soon!

Hope Greenleaf: Love the pool, the actual gym is great, the classes are just okay, and my favorite part is the luxurious locker rooms complete with sauna and steam room!
Response: Hi Hope, thanks so much for this review! We're happy to hear you have been enjoying the locker rooms, as well as the steam room and sauna. The pool is one of our favorite spots as well. Please stop by the front desk let us know how we can make the classes better! Thanks again for your feedback and see you at the Yards again soon!

David Gershman: Considering VIDA - on JUNETEENTH OF ALL DAY - made a WATERMELON-based cocktail speaks to the RACISM the company possesses. Can’t imagine what it’s like to carry that much hate. I feel bad for Vida— I feel bad for those whose values are such.

Joe Edward: Amazing gym. If they ever close down, a night club could move in without changing a thing.
Response: Hi Joe, thanks so much for the 5 star review. What can we say, we like a gym that knows how to have good time! We're glad to hear you're enjoying the facilities at The Yards and can't wait to see you back again soon. In the meantime stay happy, stay healthy, and stay well! - The VIDA Team

Scott Garvey: Vida was quite nice before Covid. Since Covid they've made changes to cut corners and save money but they are still the most expensive gym membership in DC with dwindling amenities. Select cardio equipment goes months without repair with no sign of when it will be repaired or replaced. Towels have stains and still circulated to the welcome station.
Response: Hi Scott, thanks for your review. We are constantly working to make sure our equipment is the best out there, whether it's repairs, upgrades, or making new purchases. In fact we're rolling out a few new amenities, classes, and equipment in the next month or so. Please feel free to speak to a GM if there's a certain piece of equipment that seems to have been out of service for awhile, as they're the best person to give a target date as to when they'll be back up and running. Thanks again for the feedback! - The VIDA Team

Todd Marino: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityThe staff is super friendly and down to earth, they definitely took me by surprise! If you go at the right time, the gym is practically empty too; nice spacious, ridiculously clean & modern areas that you only have to share with a few others. I don’t use any of the amenities for your comparison purposes, to include the locker room.

Z Sweat Dance and Fitness: what do users think?

Camille Rey: You will never find a nicer group of (mostly) women with whom to dance! The music is lively, the instructors are fun, and the workout flies by!

Candace Avonne: Zumba classes are awesome and full of energy. Come ready to work...there is no working up to it. They start fast and go until the end. Great work out. You will sweat.

Nathalie Arvanitakis: ZSweat is the greatest little gem in Montgomery County!! If you're in shape-or not, if you're wearing a cute Zumba outfit-or not, if you know how to do the steps-or not, the owners/instructors are very warm and welcoming!! The classes are high energy and super fun with music that flows into your bloodstream!! Even the students are friendly with smiles and high fives!! First class is free and the prices are reasonable!! Try it-you'll LOVE it!!

Francesca Leli: Went to the soft-opening 90 minute class on 11/19 and had a BLAST! The Zumba teachers were super high energy, the song chores were easy to follow, and all the students were very welcoming and inclusive. It just opened so the space is super clean, new, and beautiful! Plenty of free parking too. I am purchasing the unlimited membership package!

Ana Robles: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualitySince the start of the pandemic Zsweat has been livestreaming zumba and other classes every week that one can follow from the safety of home. A women-owned local small business that is all-around awesome.

Joanna Hoopes: I can’t say enough wonderful things about Z Sweat, the energetic instructors, and the community that Mariela and Nati have cultivated at the studio. I can guarantee you’ll have a GREAT time during class at Z Sweat, dancing, singing, sweating, and laughing! I have never had more fun in an exercise class and Z Sweat is a second home to me and many others. It is, without question, the BEST PLACE FOR ZUMBA in the DMV!
Response: Awwww thanks Joanna!!!! We love having you as part of our family, you bring happiness and joy to the studio and help us spread the zumba love in our classes <3

Chelsea Wynter: Did Zumba Toning on Thursday night and I LOVED it! Every part of my body was sore in a good way. Loved the class and loved the high energy. I will definitely be back on Monday after I'm not so sore LOL.

Cynthia Shannon Burke: Best Zumba classes ever! So much fun and a great workout. Everyone is so friendly and the vibe is enthusiastic & warm.

Diane Webber-Thrush: I have been doing zumba for more than 10 years, and the instructors at this studio are THE BEST. Also a fun, energetic group of (mostly) ladies to dance with.

Caitlin Magidson: I love Z Sweat!! Such an amazing community with the BEST energy!! If you're looking for a great workout and new friends, this is the place to be!
Response: Thank you Caitlin for your review and your kind words about our studio. We're very happy you're part of the family. <3

Washington Sports Clubs - Columbia Heights: what do users think?

Kuntal Sen, MD, FACMG: My poor review is due to following reasons: My trainer left abruptly without notice. I was charged for cancelling my session with him even though it was their fault. I have disputed the credit card charge. They are infamous for wrongly charging customers and fraudulent activity. They implemented covid vaccine card policy which was nice but didn’t inform customers. I and others was treated very unprofessionally by front desk during this day.
Response: Kuntal, We're sorry to hear of your less than satisfactory experience at our Columbia Heights location. We hope you will accept our sincerest apologies. We are committed to providing a great fitness experience, and we would like to make things right. Please send us an email to Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com so that we can determine how we can provide you with a solution. We value our customers' opinions and thank you for bringing this to our attention. All the best, Here to Help Team

April: Personal Training - Thomas Harrington After being out of the gym for a while, Thomas was much needed. He is kind, engaging, patient and knowledgeable just to name a few. What I really like about him, he takes the time to explain the whats and whys. It doesn't feel like he's just "doing his job". Thomas goes above and beyond to explain the mechanics in layman's terms. After each session I walk away having learned something. He loves what he does, and he's happy to pass it on. Thomas gets 10s from me.
Response: Hi April - thank you for taking the time to submit this positive review of Thomas! We love hearing that our team is making a different in our member's lives. We have shared this feedback with the club team. We hope you continue to love your sessions and we will see you around the club! Thanks again, HereToHelp@tsiclubs.com

Luke Brown: Thomas Harrington was the trainer I needed! Thomas has revolutionized my workout regimen and level of fitness. Not only am I noticeably stronger and more toned, I also have greater self-confidence in the gym, better kinesthetic awareness, and a bevy of workout routines will demonstrated results. Thomas has been a strong balance of expertise and care for me. He frequently spent additional time showing me an alternative exercise, checking-in about my hesitations, or demonstrating an additional stretch for a lingering ache. I actively looked forward to our time together, and I will apply his instruction for years to come. I had been hesitant to pay for a personal trainer, yet investing in my time with Thomas has been a massive personal victory. I would recommend Thomas to anyone hoping to build more effective workout routines, prevent or recuperate from an injury, or develop their confidence in and around the gym. Whether you are looking to fine tune your workouts or turn more heads, I'd invest in time with Thomas.
Response: Wow Luke! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review for our Columbia Heights location including amazing feedback for our trainer, Thomas! We will be sure to pass along the feedback to Thomas and the rest of our team. We hope you continue to enjoy your time with him and we will be seeing you around our club! Thanks again, HereToHelp@tsiclubs.com

Conor O'Reilly: I had a personal training session with Phil and he did a great job! He taught me a lot about free weights and stretching. Now I feel more comfortable to use the more advanced equipment. They also have a pool, sauna, and basketball court. Love this place
Response: Conor, Thank you for taking a moment to leave such a positive review for our Columbia Heights location and sharing your experience with our personal trainer, Phil. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your personal training session with him and feel more comfortable with using the equipment around the facility. If you ever need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to HeretoHelp@tsiclubs.com. Thanks again, Here to Help Team

Terry Chasteen: I joined on a special rate, maybe it was 2018. Due to my own fault, I never used the gym ... not once. I cannot blame that on anyone else, however I would have thought with a new client in a business like this, someone would have reached out; invited me in for a tour, found out why I was paying monthly but never using the facility. No one ever contacted me for the full year that I was billed. That is not the worst part, however, Even though it was NOT in the contract, they automatically renewed my membership without my approval and not only at my original rate but almost $30/mo above. This went on for a year since I never used that credit card and it was paid monthly automatically by my bank. Only bc of sething else on the card did I notice the fraudulant charges and they were too old for my bank to recover.
Response: Terry, Thank you for reaching out regarding your experience at our Columbia Heights location. We’re always looking to make things right. We do truly appreciate the feedback as we’re always looking for ways to improve our member experience. Thanks for taking the time to leave this review and we hope you will provide us with an opportunity to do better. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you by emailing us at Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com. All the best, Here to Help Team

Benyam Ephrem: Scheduled an InBody scan a week ago (as a non-member), came in prepped for the scan (no breakfast) at 10am - front desk said they did not have an appointment asking if I received a confirmation email (I said I got no calls or emails), then made me scan a QR code on a banner to schedule for another day since apparently the person doing the scans would be in at 5pm. Frustrating experience. Will not be coming back to the gym.
Response: Benyam, We are terribly sorry for your experience at our Columbia Heights location. It is because of customers like you that we can continue to learn how to improve. We are most certainly sad to hear that we fell short. We want to contact you and learn more about your recent experience. Please feel free to send us an email with additional details to Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com. All the best, Here to Help Team

Gregory Alan: Critical: QualityMediocre at best. See attached pictures below. The equipment is not well maintained and does not justify the cost of membership. Also the club hours are terrible on the weekends.
Response: Gregory, thank you very much for your feedback. We take our member's insights to heart, and we apologize for not providing you with the best possible experience in our clubs. As you know, the pandemic has presented a unique set of obstacles for most business but has especially affected the fitness industry. If you are open to discussing further we would love to connect you with one of our Customer Relations Managers at heretohelp@tsiclubs.com. All the best, Here to help team

Thaiz Alicia: Do not come to this gym!!! They do not care for your safety!! They will cancel your membership for protecting yourself from weird men that will follow you around ! Stay safe and go to a gym that will help you out and help you enjoy your gym experience instead of canceling your membership!

Mahvash Edrissi: I started going to gym a month ago, first it was difficult to come out after so long time lock down. But after few days I got used to it now i want to go there everyday. Friendy staff, and clean place, and all equipment makes this place great. I do my exercise, take a shower and saunas, afterwards I feel great about myself. Thank you wsc
Response: Mahvash, We're delighted to hear about your experience. We truly appreciate your recommendation of our Columbia Heights location. We will work hard to continue going above and beyond. As always, our team is looking forward to your next visit. We are always here if you have any additional feedback or suggestions. You can reach us at Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com. Thanks again, Here to Help Team

Bita Kh: The worst customer service I’ve ever seen. Nobody takes responsibility for the actions. They charge me with new fee membership that is more than the original one because of the mistake that made by themselves. I’ve spoke with customer service and sales department several times, everybody already aware of this problem but no action. When I follow up they send me to new person. This is absurd.
Response: Bita, We're sorry to hear of your less than satisfactory experience at our Columbia Heights location. We hope you will accept our sincerest apologies. We are committed to providing a great fitness experience, and we would like to make things right. Equinox Sports Club Washington, D.C.: what do users think?

Daniel Caroe: Almost at the end of my year membership and will not be renewing simply due to the customer service. In my experience, a good amount of the staff are hard to work with and even snobby at times and its takes multiple calls and requests to get anything changed on my account. Here are a few examples of the troubles I have had: 1) I called twice over the summer to freeze my membership for a few months while I was travelling. They said this would not be a problem and that they would do it.......I called a third time about month later to find out that they did not freeze it and were still charging me. When I told them about the first two times I called, they said they had no recollection of this happening. Kinda a waste of money for me in that case. 2) I was having some trouble with my personal training scheduling and called to get in contact with the PT Manager. I called multiple times over the course of a week and each time they told me he was busy. They assured me I would get a call back from him but this call never came. (kinda annoying he could not take the time for maybe a 15min conversation) 3) I had to cancel a PT session due to illness (strep) which they said meant I would not be charged a cancellation fee for my session. They definitely still charged me, and again, it was impossible to get into contact with the PT manager. Overall, it's a great facility but I find the staff to be pretty inadequate and kinda rude (namely a front desk person named Shaniya and one of the club managers named Dwayne). I loved my trainer Evan (highly recommend) but in the end, I feel like I could get what I need at another gym with a nicer staff.
Response: Hi Daniel, we are very sorry to hear about this experience. It's definitely not what we like to hear. Please connect with us at concierge@equinox.com. We'd love to get additional details regarding this matter and investigate, allowing us to work towards making improvements going forward. Please be sure to mention your review so we can address quickly.

David Gershman: Today I signed up and had a great experience. Mike, in membership, not only showed me around- they answered every question with full clarity, gave me far more insight than I expected, and was simply very nice and sweet. I knew I was going to get a membership going in, but it’s nice to get warmth and comfort instantly upon arrival. Felt like I was one of the regular folks
Response: Hi David, thanks for the 5 stars!

June Wade: Scheduled a spa massage for my friend’s birthday at the Ritz Carlton/ Equinox (Foggy Bottom) location. The staff was courteous and the gym was clean. I was disappointed the spa does not offer champagne or snacks for special occasions, instead we were given “swag bags” full of gym advertisements and trinkets. If you’re not a guest at the hotel, arriving early is highly recommended (parking, etc). Must walk outside to enter Equinox since elevator access to spa is for guest only. My massage therapist was (Donna) friendly, courteous but chatty. I was not interested in talking about where I live, hearing comments about my “poor”elbows🙄 or asking why my shoulders were so tight during my 80 minute massage. Unfortunately , the massage was not good (technique). Ambiance was fair in the room, there was no soothing music or waterfall fountains, just dim lights, and a cool quiet room. The warm bed with robes was a nice perk. Not a fan of the massage lotion (dry paste) used, she had to continuously spend time stepping away from the massage to reapply. I’m giving this spa 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️since my girlfriend had a positive experience with her masseuse. In addition, they provided a quiet space and champagne glasses for us to enjoy our BYOB champagne post massage. Would not recommend, lacks luxury for the price. $500+ ( 2 people)

Lauren Arquette: As all the other reviews said, horrible customer service. The club itself is fine, but don't try to bring a guest and don't try to cancel the membership because it's impossible and no one responds. I was a member for all of a week and tried to quit because I was told when signing up a guest of mine could come if I gave them that guests info. Gave them my guests info- they never put it in the system and turned them away at the door without even trying to investigate the problem/track down the person who gave my guest the ok. Was also told they hard certain equipment for rent when they didn't. If this was a planet fitness I wouldn't complain, but this is a $200+/month club that markets itself as elite. Nothing is elite about their customer service. Per the customer agreement you get 15 days to cancel and get a refund- tried emailing the manager for my refund, tried calling the concierge and nothing yet. I'd love to know if they actually even answer the emails they get when they respond to these complaints "sorry to hear about your experience! contact us as at..."
Response: Hi Lauren, please connect with us at Concierge@equinox.com. We would love to get additional details that led to this review so we can investigate closely. We would be happy to discuss this matter with you further if you'd like to share additional feedback. Please be sure to mention your review so we can address quickly.

TPMT Associates: Love it here as usual - they take care of the place and most importantly, the people who works out here take care of the place and is clean and tidy and doesn’t trash the place. As usual, it’s the people who come to gyms that are the messy/dirty and this place doesn’t have those ppl - not that I saw anyways!
Response: Thank you for reviewing!

John Heinemann: You get what you pay for. This gym doesn’t make sense for everyone, no one is a better person for going here, and a free gym in an apartment building is going to do 90% of what Equinox does. But the other 10%? I actually look forward to working out more when there’s both a sauna and a steam room, a saltwater pool, luxury bath products, memory foam floors for stretching, and refrigerators full of Eucalyptus infused face towels. I go for the amenities, and then I just decide to work out because I’m already there.
Response: Thanks for the 5 stars, John! Glad to hear you are enjoying our amenities.

Lena Fleischmann: Lots of amenities (pool, basketball court, steam room, sauna, soulcyle bikes...), good customer service, they constantly make improvements by adding products in the changing rooms like razors, hair ties, curling irons etc. What I don't like about it (apart from the price obviously): it's pretty much packed no matter what time you go which is annoying - wish they had a gadget in the app that would tell you how busy it is beforehand. Also, showers aren't always very clean.

Izabella Ritz: The club has a pool with saltwater which is very convenient, covid safety is great, the thing why I didn't join is no natural lights in a building, which is very important for me personally.
Response: Hi Izabella, we appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your experience. Thank you for the 5 stars and we will be sure to escalate your feedback to the appropriate teams.

Gelila Sebhatu: I called to inquiry about membership packages and I found the sales rep, Erica, a little rude and she did not directly answer my questions, which was irritating. Based on the reviews here, I’m not surprised I received this type of experience. I guess I’ll be looking elsewhere. I just wanted a nearby pool 🏊‍♀️
Response: Hi Gelila, we are sorry to hear you had this experience. We hope that you will give us another shot to show you we are capable of better service.

Ebony Williams: Do not work at equinox if you have living situation or just a situation period the manger Duane don’t care if you have living situation problems he even told one of the employees that mid shift is childish because we all going through something sorry if you hired people who have living situation or who gave problems and be careful of the Towels and hand towels they wash them in hot water only no solution that why the towels look a little dirty Yess I use to work their and got fired because I was trying to find a place to stay the days I called out because I was homeless the cleaning manger is horrible at his job and HR needs to send a Secret Santana to see how they clean the place

The Energy Club: what do users think?

Rebecca Rockey: Awesome gym with a huge variety of equipment needed for weight lifting, KB, TRX, battle rope, med ball and other interval training. Love getting to do my cardio on the rower, assault bike, skiurg, and on the traditional cardio deck. Couldn't be happier, and that's saying a lot as a 15-year fitness professional! Personal staff and friendly patrons make it even better. Highly recommend.
Response: Thank you for the great review, Rebecca! So glad you are getting good use of so much of the gym!

Tarica Danielle: My body felt so amazing leaving my first Zumba class with the fitness instructor Blair! I broke a great sweat and had fun while doing it. I highly recommend fitness training with Blair as well as visiting this facility!
Response: Great instructors. Fun. And a solid workout?! We love that you had a great time with Blair and enjoy The Energy Club.

Muriel Hubbard: This is simply the best gym there is. It’s more than just a place to come and get fit. It’s a community of people who care about each other and revel in each other’s successes and encourage each other to be the best you can be. I love every day I come to The Energy Club even when the work is harder than I think I can handle. And I always learn that I CAN handle it because all that requires is giving 100% whatever that 100% looks like that day.
Response: Thank you for the great review, Muriel! We appreciate you!

Jen W: Small gym with excellent equipment, great trainers, and a really nice locker room.

Sarah Humphries: I can't say enough good things about the Energy Club. The staff is amazing, Tom Tomlo, the fitness director, is unbelievable, and they are incredibly lucky to have him. The classes are awesome. I love being there; it is so much more than just a gym. I've been a member of gyms all my life, and this is the first time I've felt such a sense of community and belonging. They care so much about your progress, your fitness level, and all levels are encouraged. They work very hard to make people feel welcome, to host events that build connections, and to offer people the best in fitness. I feel so grateful to be a member- thank you Energy Club!

Stephanie Bredahl: I’ve been a member for about 2 years and can’t say enough great things about this gym. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, easy parking. Amazing classes! Love Patrick’s classes, I train with him too and if you’re looking for a personal train he is outstanding. He pushes you, makes sure you have proper form and makes each workout ‘fun’. Spin classes a great-they got new bikes recently and new gym equipment. Try the rock climbing wall!

Christian Lilakos: The Energy Club is a great value for the cost. They house any and all equipment you need to train, whether you are a competitive athlete or just looking to train for general fitness. There is everything from functional equipment to Olympic platforms. There is even a small rock wall. I’ve been in correspondence with Howard, whom made sure to show me all of the facility and amenities . He also went over and explained the different membership packages, as the club has different options to suit your needs. Highly recommended.
Response: Christian, thank you for the glowing words of endorsement. We hope to see you again real soon.

Angelo: UPDATE: Donald (GM) is a true professional. He personally reached out and worked out a plan that would be beneficial to his establishment and customer satisfaction and peace of mind. Thank you Donald. UPDATE: Stellar staff and great amenities, never a wait for machines or weights during the times I workout. Very clean and functional extremely pleased with this gym. UPDATE: Still love this gym, just a quick note, locker rooms have towels, soap, shampoo, and just about anything you can think of or need. Always stocked and clean. Staff always has a smile and ready to help.
Response: Hello Angelo, Thank you for the feedback, and the opportunity to hopefully win your business. We have several new staff learning and we do apologize if your experience was less than stellar. As the GM, the club is only as good as the experience of each person that walks through the door. I am asking for you to come back in and we will have a clear (and easy) way to discuss what the Energy Club really is - a great place to workout. My sincerest apologies for the experience. You canot make a first impression twice, so please allow us to make the second FAR better than the first. I can be reached at dbahneman@theenergyclub.com or 703.824.0600 Best, Don Bahneman - General Manager

Amelia Marple: Probably the best gym I’ve ever belonged to ever. I was a member for about 3-years and referred many people to join this gym. The staff and comradarie among the other members was unbeatable.
Response: Hi Amelia! Thank you so much for three years, five stars, spreading the word and for being a part of Energy while in the Shirlington area!

Derek Fronabarger: Horrific experience. Not only did they charge extra to leave (I’m month to month) but there were constant issues with people attempting to sell drugs in the locker room. If you want an over crowded gym, with shady people using the locker rooms, any a rude management who would not stop email - then this place is just for you. I would not recommend at all.
Response: Hi Derek, As we discussed over the phone and email, you were not charged any “extra” fees. Upon putting your membership under Freeze Status in November 2018, you agreed to abide by the Freeze Policy listed on both our website and Membership Freeze Request form. Since a Membership Freeze is offered in good-faith with the expectation that members will resume membership once the Freeze Status ends, our policy stipulates that The Energy Club has the right to collect any waived membership dues should you decide to cancel before your Freeze Status ends. While I understand that you are unhappy to honor the terms you agreed to, I’m sorry to see that you have followed through with your threats to discredit our small, community-driven business. We are also sorry that we could not close out your membership on better terms, and wish you luck with all future endeavors. Sincerely, Chris Tran Assistant General Manager, Director of Membership Services

Chevy Chase Athletic Club: what do users think?

Kevin Sunita: I’ve recently joined CCAC since I heard about them from a fellow member. The classes looked like something I would be very interested in, but more so the stretch class. I’ve had back issues for quite a while now but after attending that class for a couple weeks, my back has never felt better. The instructor Vikky makes the class very fun and enjoyable along with the people that take it. Would highly recommend this gym!

Lallie Marita: The staff and trainers at CCAC have been some of the best. A lot of gyms feel very “money-grabber” so-to-speak and I have never once felt this way here, even though many will simply go out of their way to offer a correction or two. This gym also appears to attract everyone, but definitely leans toward a younger to middle-age crowd, all are welcome nonetheless!

Lisa Wu: I live closeby in a neighboring apartment complex and recently joined CCAC a couple months ago after touring the facility and doing a free trial. I highly recommend attending their Strong class with Hayat every Tuesday and Thursday; this has been a game changer for me and my fitness goals. It has helped me tighten up and tone my body all over - especially my core and inner thighs. This instructor is one of the best I have ever taken from and is extremely motivating and personable!

Jonathan Steele: This gym is of even greater value than what you pay for. If you want to be part of a community and actually get to know people within the facility you're signing up for, join this gym. It's a real community that motivates and supports each other. The management is great and I can attest to the fact most negative reviews occurred because people did not abide by guidelines in the contract or clear direction from management. With the current staff and employees, I can confidently say CCAC is well worth every penny. Highly recommend this club and asking to try using one of their personal trainers... I've never been so sore but made so much progress.

Tim Smythe: Just recently joined with some of my friends from AU and a couple guys interning in the area and it's been great. Awesome variety of gym equipment and the staff members are really friendly, chill, and genuine. They'll validate parking for $1 up to 2.5 hours and they have a sauna and steam room which is cool. Middle-age to younger vibe and the owner Steve White is really nice about taking the time to correct form or make things harder... you will be sore though. Check it out.

amelia brooks: I joined about a month ago with some friends and we have loved this place! Super convenient since we live in a house not too far away during the year, and now summer with internships. They just recently started offering a deal for college students in the area, so I highly recommend checking it out - and if you love a quieter time to workout with less people, I recommend the mornings here! Super spacious and the staff is so friendly and personable. Everyone pretty much knows each member by name and they're super encouraging! We've felt really comfortable in this place when it comes to COVID and everyone seems to be doing their part.

JJLindsanity: This club is amazing! It definitely meets all of my exercise needs, so much space! I love all the equipment choices that they have, every time I visit I can't help but to try something new- love at first try! I also love how the staff knows everybody who comes in by name- so nice! This is definitely the place to be (exercise)!

Pete Kaminskas: I recently 'discovered' CCAC when looking for a place to practice squash with my daughter. I was pleasantly surprised to learn about the breadth of equipment and programs beyond the 3 squash courts (which are very nice). Moreover, they recently upgraded their equipment and improved spacing to promote better distancing. CCAC is a hidden gem and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a clean, well-run gym with friendly staff.

Medhavi Bhatia: I would be very careful with this facility. The owners are very bad at managing billing. Look at my credit card statement below. I left the club in Feb and after a couple of disputes which I presumed settled this, I noticed very late that the owner kept charging me. By the time I found out, the credit card company would not refund me between March and May. I informed the club in September and after that not only they did not refund me between March and May, they also kept charging me in Oct, Nov and Dec. The owner was extremely rude and I found that they have done this with other members too. They sign members up and if the member does not meet their revenue generation criteria within a year, they kick the member out and make up the loss via such billing as much as possible. I am $500 down! Please save yourself!

Rebecca Post: Critical: Communication, ProfessionalismSimilar to a previous poster, we canceled our membership and continue to be charged months after. Despite writing several times to Claire, no response. - WOW, that response below is rich given we did all the paperwork on November 23rd and are still being charged.
Response: Hello Ms. Post, We hope you are staying healthy, but despite repeating the cancellation process *several* times over the course of *several* months, you chose to make an exception for yourself. You could have come into the business to cancel or send a certified letter and I easily and happily would have taken care of this for you - no questions asked and no problems moving forward. When you sign a contract, you are expected to abide by the rules laid out in it. We understand there is a pandemic, which is why I have made exceptions, such as meeting people outside of the building or having them send a certified letter. We have hundreds upon hundreds of members, so sticking to the cancellation policy is critical in staying organized and taking care of matters like these adequately and properly. We wish you well and wish we could have taken care of this a long time ago. Very Best, CCAC

PIES Fitness Yoga Studio: what do users think?

Ruth Buba: Im so glad I found this place. Ive been taking Capoiera with instructor Dante and its been life changing! The peace, the grounding, the community. I came to Pies to get in shape and months later im in better shape mentally physically emotionally and spiritually than ever before!! If yr debating trying it DOOOO IT!

Sophia Howard: PIES is a wonderful studio for everyone but especially for those that have ever felt unwelcome ANYWHERE! The yoga is a bonus to the Community piece :)

Fred Williams: Not just another Yoga studio, variety is the spice of life!

TL H: Very professional and courteous staff! I’m new to yoga and I purchased a Groupon to try this place. I mentioned it to a friend and she just happened to be a regular at Pies. She suggested that we go to Mellow Yoga, which is great for beginners. First off, if you purchase a Groupon you have to register on the PIES website first. Contact the studio for more details, about 48 hours prior to your first visit. I visited the valley forge location. It was clean and inviting with a cozy decor. The instructor, Kimberly, was fantastic and very friendly. I told her I was a beginner and she allowed for this by incorporating plenty of props and modifications. Mellow yoga was an amazingly relaxing and meditative experience— very soft music, dim lights, very soothing. I’ve already scheduled another class for next week! This was a 10/10 experience!

Duma H: Lovely studio! My family absolutely loves this place. The owner is very nice and we ended up getting lifetime subscriptions so we can always keep coming back. Important note: PIES is actually two studios that are across from each other. Make sure to double check which one your class is at on the schedule before you go there.

Tam Tran: Every class that I have taken here has lifted my spirits. The owner Marsha answered my very first call to the studio and she made me feel welcome. All of the instructors I have met here have been knowledgeable, kind, and patient. The facilities are clean and calming. This is the perfect peaceful place to heal your mind and body with yoga!

Wanda Colbert: Purchased a groupon to try the studio but never received a call back to make the first appointment. After a week or so decided to purchase a class online to check it out and talk about redeeming my groupon in person. My card was charged 2xs in error and figured I would be refunded when I got to the studio. I arrived at the location for it to be closed. The owner was in her car waiting for a solo client by chance and informed me the class I booked was at her other location. She also inforned me that there was a no refund policy even though the xtra $s were taken in error and also my groupon could no longer be used since I booked and paid for my 1st appt. The actual yoga instructor, Maggie, was amazing and I give her a 5 star. I left a msg a few days later to see if I could use the overpmt towards the new customer special and again never received a return call! Contacted groupon customer service to inform them of my experience and my bank to dispute the duplicate charge. The worst customer service ever by a business owner I've ever received!
Response: Hi Wanda, we're sorry, you've had that experience. Could you contact us and we can discuss more in detail? While we use sites like Groupon for clients, it is stated in the terms upon purchasing that it's only for first time clients. Sometimes Groupon may refund the purchase but we can't honor both the Groupon special and our internal special. Please feel free to contact us and we can discuss.

Alison Arnold Spinney: I've been going to PIES for almost 3 years now, and at the time I was brand new to yoga. There is a wonderful variety of classes offered here for every level, and every interest. The multiple locations in the Alexandria neighborhood make classes very convenient to attend! Never had a bad teacher. Marsha's "My Body Don't Bend That Way" was the PERFECT class for the uninitiated. Now I"m all about Yuki's Vinyasa.

Kristi Schueler: I have visited many yoga studios in several states and I have yet to find one that embodies yoga philosophy so authentically! The community is diverse and accepting of everyone. What I love most is the spirit of servitude and the opportunities they provide for everyone to experience the benefits of physical movement through their $7 community and zumba classes, their yoga therapy for the special needs community, yoga en espanol, and the adaptive/therapeutic classes that are perfect those with some extra challenge from illness, injury or age. The flagship class, My Body Don't Bend That Way with Marsha, is not to be missed if you think you can't do yoga!

J&K: Great studio, particularly if you are new to yoga. Very inviting (and not intimidating) environment. There is something here for everyone. If you’ve been thinking about trying yoga, but have been scared to try, go to PIES!

Onelife Fitness - Reston: what do users think?

T K: Back in December of last year, the crunch in Reston closed and they gave all those members access to this Onelife location. Since then it has been near impossible to complete a workout because of the overcrowding. There are literally twice as many members here then prior to the crunch closing. They expanded the gym but all they did was put two benches and light dumbbells, and some racks. Is that supposed to compensate for an entire gym doubling its member amount? Coming here is just playing a waiting game to use a piece of equipment at all hours. Also why are they still only open till 9pm? They could at least stay open later to compensate for the extreme amounts of people at the gym. Please do not join this gym because there is no room for you.
Response: Hi TK, We would like to apologize for your recent experience. We take pride in being the best we can be and really hope that every customer is treated like family. We want to make this right - call us at (703) 904-7600 and we can talk about making it up to you.

Emily Coates: Don't get a membership that's annual unless you want absolutely not flexibility or ability to leave or make changes and keep getting charged. customer service is abysmal. I moved far enough away I should have been able to cancel but because my ID had my old address when I enrolled they wouldn't honor it. Now I am being charged for a second year and I haven't even been there in MONTHS!!!!

Bravo Elizabeth: They provide an energy-filled and fun workout experience that I always look forward to every week. I've been going for 8 months now and have seen great results!!
Response: Hi ROBERT, On behalf of myself and the team, we are so happy that you are enjoying your experience with us! It has been a pleasure serving you and we look forward to more great experiences at Onelife Fitness - Reston. Please feel free to provide more feedback to let us know exactly what we are doing right!

Terry Loveman: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityI’ve been at this gym for eight or nine years. The people are great, and it has a very community feel. And everyone is eager to help you achieve your fitness goals. Great atmosphere and classes, too. I highly recommend it.

Allen Luethke: The employees really care and are always kind to the customers - even on those early mornings when I'm sure it would be better to hide in a cup of coffee. I want to give a special commendation to the employees who are ALWAYS wiping down equipment, cleaning surfaces, and even vacuuming behind gym-goers. Seriously, who does that?! It took me a while to venture back into gyms following COVID, but the team at Onelife Reston has never left me feeling uneasy about my decision to return. They are truly a notch above. I'd also like to note that the culture at this gym is strong. The gym-goers are courteous of each other, and the clients are clearly serious about health and wellness. It's a diverse crowd with guys lifting more than I could ever dream as well as folks who might be venturing into the gym for the first time. Again, the culture is strong, and the people are kind and courteous. All are made to feel welcome at this gym, and I am constantly recommending it to those I know in the market for a new place to workout.
Response: WOW! Thank you for the shiny 5 STARS and kind words Allen! We think you're amazing too and we appreciate you taking the time to share so many positive details about your experience! It's our mission to exceed your expectations and we're excited to see you at the Club soon!

Bob Cochran: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityProfessional, helpful staff will help you or leave you alone, whichever you prefer. Modern, clean equipment. Locker rooms are large and clean. The cleaning people have been there for years and are outstanding. The background music does not cater to old people, but is not too loud. It’s a nice well-run place.
Response: Thank you for the 5 STARS and kind words Bob! We are so honored to be a part of your fitness journey and your review made our day! We appreciate you and we look forward to seeing you soon at the Club!

Jane Batten: Everyone is so kind and engaging and dedicated to improving my challenging fitness level. They even went above and beyond recently when I lost my car keys. GM and trainers (including Cat) took the time to check the security tape which showed me walking out with the keys, and Trainer Sam (who said this was one of his talents) found them outside the next morning. Also the gentleman who cleans the gym looked through every trash can. I very much appreciate everyone going above and beyond during their very busy schedules to help me with a personal problem. Thank you…Jane
Response: Hello Jane and thank you for the fantastic 5 STARS and kind words! It's our mission to deliver the ultimate fitness experience and we were SO happy to help you find your keys! Total Team Effort! We appreciate you taking the time to mention our all-star Team, like Sam, Cat and our housekeeping team! We appreciate you and look forward to seeing you (and your keys) again at the Club soon!

Dan McGuire: I cancelled my membership after 3 years because I feel the Manager Chris Francis isn't doing enough to enforce the covid restrictions mandated by the Governor and the safety policies of Onelife Fitness. Masks are required while in the locker room yet 75% of the members are not wearing masks in the locker room. The urinals are 2ft apart so you can't keep a safe distance when someone comes up and uses the urinal next to you without a mask. Signage in and around the locker room are poorly placed and no one reads them. I asked Chris to put one of the two urinals out of service but he refused. On top of that, like others have posted, they are charging me for an additional month even though I clearly stated that it was a health and safety issue and they are required to provide a safe environment for its members. The customer service department has been less than helpful in trying to resolve the situation. But that's not all, the gym is old. The equipment is old. It's hot and has poor ventilation. The parking lot is falling apart. In my opinion, this gym should be closed!

Susan Caley: I have been a member of this club since it opened.. I have also used many other Fitness type clubs when I travel and I have never seen a club as well maintained, with super friendly staff and is so amazingly clean! At all times of the day and night the cleaning staff are in attendance, busy scrubbing away! I have had no fear during these Covid times because of the cleanliness, the attention to making sure everyone keeps their distance and making sure everybody wears a mask and has no temperature when entering. I love this club! Great job!
Response: Thank you for the shiny 5 STARS and kind words Susan! We really appreciate you taking the time to share the details of your clean & safe experience! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Andrew Shea: This is my last month at OneLife due to relocating for a job - and I’m going to miss it! Having been a member at many gyms over the year - Chris and his team at OneLife have been by far the best. From getting me registered during the COVID-19 pandemic, to all the services they’ve offered - I’ve been shocked at how great a gym this is. OneLife also has a wide variety of equipment, and it’s NEW and ALWAYS maintained! There hasn’t ever been a hindrance to my physical fitness at this gym - I actually look forward to the gym! For the price, location, and the amazing staff - you can’t find anywhere better. Take a chance and give em a visit! Thank you OneLife!
Response: Thank you for the awesome 5 STARS and kind words Andrew! We are going to miss you... and we really appreciate you taking the time to share so many positive details about your fitness experience before your relocation. So considerate! Thank you again and we hope to see you again in the future!

LA Fitness: what do users think?

Val Thakore: Coming here for 4+ years and the lack of maintenance on the machines is astonishing; you’d think for $360+ a year that they could do something right. My membership is up for renewal come October, this will sway me to join the nice new gold’s gym on Columbia Pike. 👋🏼

Layth Baheej: The location is perfect. The size of the gym is fantastic. Bathroom are broken and dirty. Shower curtain has mold! Roof the shower has some mold too. Sauna is dirty and I can promise it has not cleaned since December. Broken equipment more than 3-4 months! Common LA Fitness!

James Robert: WORST LA FITNESS IN AMERICA: Most La Fitnesses get knocked for having broken equipment, but this location always seems to have significantly more pieces out of service - both weights and cardio, than ANY other gym I’ve been to. The staff is okay, but rarely greet you coming in or out. The club actually stinks... like, has an odd odor to it. The biggest issue for me is there is no WiFi at this location (in 2021...seriously!?) To makes matters worse, the building has zero cell phone reception. This location also gets a 1/5 on cleanliness (see aforementioned odor). Lastly, they DO NOT enforce mask mandates. People simply walk in with their mask and quite literally take them off once past the front desk. Bottom line: If you’re just looking for a place with weights and aren’t particularly adverse to contracting covid, this is your place. If not, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. Update: As of 12/15/2021: more than half of the cardio machines have been out of order for MONTHS and there are roaches (photos attached) 1/9/2022: Not that it matters much at this point— BUT as of today the elevators are past inspection (photo of expired cert attached). I only know this because the door momentarily failed to open as I was going between the first and second floor. (When you’re stuck in an elevator you tend to check these things..) I suppose things are just what they are with this gym. Member safety, cleanliness, facility upkeep… are simply nonexistent. Be sure to ask these complaints and others like mine posted here when they’re trying to sell you on joining.

John S: I've cancelled membership at many gyms over the years and my only unpleasant experience has been at this LA Fitness. I called to cancel and was informed I needed to come in between specific hours to speak with the individual in charge of memberships. I did as requested and despite her attempts convince me not to cancel, I was persistent and was finally informed that my membership had been cancelled. One month later, my bank account was charged monthly dues and an annual fee. When I called seeking clarification, the individual in charge of memberships became combative and attempted to gaslight me by telling me we'd never spoken. I understand mistakes happen but the response to their mistake left me wondering what type of training LA Fitness is providing their membership team and whether they actively encourage this behavior.

Rahma Hejja: I like LA fitness in general for Zumba classes and swimming. This one was good location and convenient for me, but I had to cancel my membership. My concern is, they don’t accept canceling on the phone or online, so for one month I was too busy to go , especially after my working hours and I had a newborn baby, and I paid for one month without going any day, so today in my weekend I went to Cancel my membership and guess what?! It was so easy check chak done! So why they couldn’t do this on phone and let me pay $44.99 for no reason!

Lan R: This location continues to be the ‘armpit’ of LA Fitness. I recently visited the gym after a few months and found the sauna door still broken from months ago. Also, on this visit, I noticed the shower curtains in the men’s locker room were moldy, and the lockers had not been cleaned or wiped down in some time as a layer of dust was visible on most of them (photo example attached). The sauna smelled terrible, along with the sauna door that had to be forced open just to enter and exit. It appears this location just stopped cleaning after COVID and takes no pride in its appearance or upkeep. I, personally, will pay a few extra dollars for a gym membership elsewhere where you don’t feel ‘dirty’ just trying to shower and change your clothes. Furthermore, the staff just sits on their personal cellphones at the front desk while you are waiting to be helped or checked in. LA Fitness, you have to take accountability and fix this!!

Martin Geiger: Never seen a messier gym in my life. There is equipment all over the place and the whole gym smells terribly. I’ve never seen an employee cleaning the place and I’m there every day. They just sit at the front desk with AirPods in on their phones

Maya Jones: I stand by the one star. If staff wasn't nice and the Zumba class wasn't so fun, then I would give it zero stars. LITERALLY almost every machine has an out of order note. Fine if you want free wieghts (hahaha) the benches are broken too. All the equipment is rusty. I should have taken pictures but the comment pictures are accurate. Bad equipment that you cannot use. It is literally not worth $5 a month. The zumba class is fun I love Ana. I cancelled my membership today with very little pain after I walked in tried to use the treadmill (all broken), then the elliptical (all broken if not in use), the stair stepper (all broken), and even the elliptical varients were broken too. I was trying to give people space and not use the machine next to them but ironnically all of them were broken too. I gave up and rowed for 10 minutes. Then attempted to use the wieghts and the benches were broken. I then tried the wieght machines and serval were BROKEN. You see the trend its a BROKEN gym. When I was fed up and wanted to cancel...I went straight to the guy at the front desk who looked at my ID and cancelled my membership on the spot. He was very kind and took care of it. I will not be billed anymore and I still can use the gym until Feb. Overall, that expereince was not bad. I do not relate to the theft comments, I always keep my valuables with me and if I leave something in the lockeroom it is just a jacket with no money, valuables, or keys. I will update if they still bill me.

Adrian Mathura: As a member for several years now, I watch this gym’s management rake-in years of COVID19 membership income, while re-investing NOTHING to provide working equipment and hygienic facilities —the toilets, urinals, bathrooms, sauna, and cardio equipment are consistently in disrepair and visibly dirty. Good location and garage parking warrant the single star.

Epic Work: This location looks cool but upon closer analysis it is filthy. What looks like Dog hair all over the mats and equipment. Went home and stray hairs all over my clothes. Not what you expect at the newer Potomac area. Went with a girlfriend and we wiped the equipment and mats with a white towel and it was black after we wiped it. No bueno

Onelife Fitness - Ballston: what do users think?

Jeffrey Haden: Overall enjoy this gym the only thing I don’t not enjoy is that sometimes their staff is late to open the building. I rarely come early in the morning but sometimes I have to depending on my work schedule. This was one of those times and at 5:05 am there wasn’t a single staff member there to open the door. At the rate I’m paying each month this should never happen. Otherwise I don’t have any other complaints.
Response: Hello Jeffrey, We would like to apologize for your recent experience and sorry to hear you were less than satisfied. We pride ourselves on our service and the high-quality standards we maintain and would like to make things right. Please reach out to us at 703-816-8800 to discuss what occurred and how we might make it up to you.

Devin Boehmer: I've been a member here for over three years. I signed up because I moved to the Ballston area, but I have continued my membership over the past few years even after moving farther away to 2 other locations in Arlington! I love the variety of group fitness classes and find all the instructors to be professional, engaging and friendly. The only equipment I typically use in other parts of the gym is in the treadmill area, and have never been in a situation where I've been unable to find an open machine (even during peak times). The gym was renovated three years ago (around when I first joined) and I still find the quality of the equipment and facilities to be great. The value you get for the membership rate that you pay has always seemed reasonable to me. During the height of the pandemic in 2020, I greatly appreciated the level of seriousness that the staff took in terms of mask-wearing policies, cleanliness, and group fitness attendance limitations. I even emailed feedback about continuing to enforce mask-wearing policies that I felt was received well by the staff and taken into consideration/addressed. The Ballston One Life makes my fitness/gym experience very enjoyable and I always recommend it to friends and other locals in the area!
Response: Thank you for the wonderful review and for taking the time to share your feedback with Onelife Fitness - Ballston. Our priority is customer service and we are ecstatic that we met that mark! Kind folks like you make our job a pleasure.

Laura Henschel: Brittany and her team and the Ballston location are awesome. They have been so accommodating as I moved clubs from OneLife Rockville to their location, helped me with guest passes, towel service questions, and anything else I could need. I love this location because of the ample free weights section, including the brand new turf section used for stretching, dynamic workouts, etc. and their dry sauna and steam room. The outdoor terrace area is great when the weather is nice. Fun to people watch there or on the treadmills and get a workout in. I also enjoy their workout class selection -- the yoga room is great and the club has lots of equipment for every need -- blocks, pilates tools, bands, barbell pads, etc. and the staff is always around keeping the space clean. Nobody asked me to write a review, just needed to brag about how much I love my gym!
Response: Thank you very much for such a great review! We work very hard to make sure that we are offering the best experience. So happy to hear that our commitment was clear with you!

sebastian Benitez: Is look a nice one, unfortunately I wasn't able to come in and do my work out because my recently membership didn't cover this location, they can provably offer me a day pass? yes... but they didn't, very very very mean Latin Guy at the front desk.. and is not easy to get someone at the phone to fix it …. Bad administration, I taking down my short membership. thanks!
Response: Hi Sebastian, We would like to apologize for your recent experience. We take pride in being the best we can be and really hope that every customer is treated like family. We want to make this right - call us at (703) 816-8800 and we can talk about making it up to you.

Ed: Onelife has nice gyms. However, the gym hours are terrible because they close so early. 10 pm on a weekday? Thats terrible and the weekend is even worse as they close at 7 on Saturday and 6 on Sunday. The price of the membership is not worth it and the customer service could be much better.
Response: Hi Ed, We would like to apologize for your recent experience. We take pride in being the best we can be and really hope that every customer is treated like family. We want to make this right - call us at (703) 816-8800 and we can talk about making it up to you.

Eric C: Excellent facilities and fantastic, engaging staff. Surprisingly larger on the inside than you would think. Plenty of room to get a good workout in even at 5 pm on a Friday afternoon!
Response: Hi Eric, Thank you for the 5-stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Uuganbayar Dashdondog: Too expensive. Literally no point in paying the more expensive plan b/c everyone just uses same amenities. This facility lacks pool and courts. The equipment are dated and basic. Only bright spot is the wellness studio.
Response: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations. If you would like to discuss further, please call us at 703-637-0563.

Julia Neumann: Best gym to find best trainers! There is a lot of space so it's never super crowded. The group workouts are fun and not overrun!
Response: Thank you very much for such a great review! We work very hard to make sure that we are offering the best experience. So happy to hear that our commitment was clear with you!

Kelly Bauer: I've been going to this gym for nearly a year and joined this gym because of all the classes offered. The last THREE times I have been to this gym to attend a class I signed up for on the app I have had to turn around and leave because there is no space in the studio for me to attend. It's super frustrating and a waste of money to have a gym membership when you can't use the services they offer.
Response: Hi Kelly, We would like to apologize for your recent experience. We take pride in being the best we can be and really hope that every customer is treated like family. We want to make this right - call us at (703) 816-8800 and we can talk about making it up to you.

D M: Coming from the Reston Onelife (which I would give a 5 star review on), my experience has been mixed but overall negative: Pro's: - very nice location - great views from the cardio room - staff are mostly friendly (or at least no worse than neutral) - Locker rooms are spacious and clean - Large calisthenics area - 5-6 power lifting stations with bumper plates and you're allowed to drop. Con's: - Organization. I put 80% of this on the members but the plates are never organized - you'll often find a 25 lb plate in front of a 5 lb plate in front of a 45 lb plate. Again, I put this mostly on the members but it would be nice if there were more notices telling members it's proper etiquette to put the plates back in the right spots along with periodic organization by the staff. There's also a limited number of plates. I've often had to walk across the gym to find a set of 5 lb or 10 lb plates. Posted picture shows disorganized weights around 5 am, right after the gym opens. - Overcrowding. If you go between 5 and 7 pm on a weekday, good luck using any of the equipment. Before 7 am and probably after 7 pm are really the only useable times of day. Not a huge issue for me being an early bird but I'd still like to have more flexibility. - Consistent operating hours. There's been a few occasions now where the gym doesn't open until 5 or more minutes past the operating hours. As I right this review, it's 725 am on a Saturday and no one is even inside the building. - Parking. I typically go right at 5 am when the gym opens. I can usually find street parking (free before 8 am and on weekends) but if I go later in the day or if there's no street parking it's $1, even if it's less than an hour. Not a huge deal but if you're going later in the day and plan to get there by car, you're effectively adding $15 a month to the membership assuming you go every other day. - Equipment. There's a wide variety of machines but some equipment is noticeably absent. For example, the Hammerstrength machines aren't a full set. It's understandable though with the limited space they have to work with
Response: Hello DM and thank you for writing. We certainly appreciate the kind words about the Clubs! We are also always open to constructive feedback and appreciate you sharing your concerns. We'd like to address these items, and any potential misunderstandings, with you directly for clearest communication please. You can reach our General Manager, Brittany, via email at bcmgr@sportandhealth.com. Thank you again.

Washington Sports Clubs - DuPont Circle: what do users think?

G L: Supports individuals following members and blames the victim for the harassment they endured. Canceled their membership for documenting the stalker following them and still charged them for the membership. Very unprofessional on the phone when this situation was being discussed and stated that the victim should have talked to management as if them being followed is something they would address. The company would not address the stalker and that is very clear. It is important that everyone feels safe and comfortable at the gym and they did not create that sort of environment for the victim. I would absolutely not suggest this gym and believe all current members cancel as soon as they possibly can. You are not safe. You will never be safe in this gym. They do not care about their customers…

Jesse Bacon: I was in town three days for a conference and needed a gym to workout in… when we asked about daily passes the staff was super friendly and helpful in allowing me and a colleague to utilize the facility… I was able to complete all of my CrossFit workouts for the three days I was there. The facility was spacious and had everything we needed. Would totally recommend to anyone in the area looking for a gym home or those passing though on business. I’ll visit again whenever I’m in the area.
Response: Hi Jesse! That's amazing, we are so glad you were able to enjoy our Dupont Circle facility and what the club has to offer. We really hope to see you again in the future! Thanks again, HereToHelp@tsiclubs.com

Michael: It's a great gym, I really don't get why the rating isn't higher. Perhaps the former management can be blamed. Juayla could not have been more welcoming. I can recommend this gym 100% Not too busy It's clean Good variety of equipment Big lockers (gotta bring your own lock) A nice, respectful crowed
Response: Michael, WOW! Thank you so much for your 5-star rating of our Dupont Circle location and kind words about team member Juayla. We appreciate you taking the time to leave this review. We hope to see you again soon. If you ever need assistance, you can always reach us at Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com. Thanks again, Here to Help Team

J Heather: Very friendly front desk staff and cleaning staff. Location is well maintained (cleanliness and equipment). The location can get crowded especially during rush hours (around lunch and at the end of the day). The other WSC nearby shutdown so their members automatically transferred to this location. Bathroom/lockers may be spotty at times but it depends on the time of the day. They offer membership discounts if you sign up in person (just a warning regarding the annual fee- they cannot waive it).
Response: J Heather, We're thrilled that you were satisfied with our Dupont Circle location. We are happy to hear our team members are meeting your expectations. Your feedback is appreciated, and we are here should you ever need help in the future. You can always reach us at Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com. Thanks again, Here to Help Team

Linnies World: I give this gym -10/10. A facility were the staff don't care about your safety is not a place to be. Not to mention taking people hard earned money when they were protecting themselves. Let not mention the unprofessional person on the other end of the phone. This makes no sense honestly they guy needs to be fired.

Whittney Dents: A club member was being followed and recorded the interaction to protect himself. Instead of the manager being understanding, he abruptly canceled the members membership and would not give them a refund. In a society where you truly don’t know the intentions of people, recording yourself for protection should not be punished. Shame on this establishment and the manager.

Nesi Smith: This gym feel as if it’s ok for a member to be stalked and you terminate them because they’re recording for their safety!!! As a former law enforcement officer I felt the need to record was justifiable and due to the fact that he didn’t report it shouldn’t matter. You have all types of weirdos working out so the need to report is slim to none unless that person actually starts following and stalking you to point where every move you make they make!!!! Refund should have been given as well as an apology.

Micha-Re Newton: This gym disregards the safety of its members and instead punishes them for taking precautions of their own safety. A recent member had just posted an interaction on social media of how he was followed by a man throughout his entire visit. The man would move to every corner that the member did. Even down to preforming intimidating acts by setting his belongings directly next to the member. WSC then decided that they would suspend the members membership for “recording and posting. & should have taken it to management” yet no actions have been taking on the predatory behavior of the man that was recorded. I can’t imagine how they would treat a woman in this same situation if this is how they treated a gentleman.

Carmen King: Unprofessional. Member felt unsafe and recorded the man following him. The stalker told the manager & the manager canceled the victims membership and refused to give a refund. Didn't ask the victim his side or anything. Not good business & you should feel safe in your gym. 0/10

Tiana Stewart: This club does not care about the safety and well-being of their customers. Your membership will be terminated if you vent about the gym on social media with no refund of your monthly payment. This gym is not safe If you are attending alone. If you do go to this gym, please go with another person so that you were not followed around the gym.

VIDA Fitness Ballston: what do users think?

Austin von Heeringen: I became a VIDA member about 2 months ago and I have only had positive experiences since joining. I have found the staff to be extremely friendly + helpful and was pleasantly surprised that the Assistant GM Erik actually remembered who I was after meeting me briefly the day I signed on. This gym is fully equipped, clean, has helpful staff, and it’s members have an overall kind demeanor (which is not always the case in a gym). I saw reviews for this facility that targeted confusion on pricing but I want to clarify that in my experience the membership costs where completely transparent from day 1, and aligned with EXACTLY what is displayed on their website. As far as the pricing itself goes, I honestly believe it is fair. This is a top notch facility on par with luxury gyms such as lifetime (but with friendlier staff) for a lower cost. As someone who has had experiences with various gyms at different price points (onelife, lifetime, planet fitness) this has been my best gym experience to date.
Response: Hi Austin, thank you so much for this review and we're so happy to hear we have been your best gym experience! We take great pride in our facilities and truly believe we have the best team in the biz and we're glad to hear you agree. Please let us know if there's anything we can help out with or if you have any questions - we're happy to help and hope to see you at Ballston soon!

Danielle Eickhoff: I joined Vida Fitness in Ballston about 7 months ago and have been happy with my experience so far. The gym is the cleanest in Arlington, and they have an exceptional COVID policy. The equipment is high quality, and their locker rooms and showers are spacious. They also have a sauna and group classes, but I haven't tried those experiences yet. So far I've experienced mostly kindness and respect from the other members, and the staff are attentive. Even at peak times the gym isn't overly crowded like other gyms in Ballston where you have to wait an exceptionally long time to use the weights or equiptment. I also recommend Aura Spa which is attached to the gym - both for facials and massages.
Response: Thank you Danielle! Happy you are part of the VIDA family and look forward to seeing you soon!

Quarib Chowdhury: The best gym in Arlington! You really get what you pay for. Super clean environment, from the front door to the lockers to exercise area, everything. As someone with pre-existing medical conditions, I loved the vaccine card check when I went in for my tour. Staff is professional and friendly. Meredith provided a great tour and I signed up on the spot. You can tell by my fellow gym members, everyone is serious about their workouts and getting it done. Very inspiring. World class equipment - Eleiko bars and plates. Apparently they’re adding more platforms. Let’s go! There’s plenty of cardio equipment as well. I need to try out the classes on my off weeks. It has a fun vibe and also a solid serious gym to focus on our workouts. Highly recommend.
Response: Hi Quarib and thank you so much for the 5 star review! We're glad you enjoyed the tour with Meredith and happy to have you as part of the VIDA family. Definitely make sure to try out a group fitness class when you get the opportunity and let us know what you think! And if there's ever anything we can do or any questions you have as a new member please don't hesitate to get in touch. Thanks again and welcome!

Alisha Sheth: If I could give this place zero stars, I would. An extremely ill-informed and disrespectful staff, I would urge everyone to look into an entirely different gym where the people actually treat you with respect and want to help you. As a prospective member, I was told numerous things incorrectly regarding their memberships and treated poorly by their front desk for a lack of them not knowing how to do their job. Devon, the front desk guy was extremely disrespectful and rude to me. Sarah, the manager of their membership services also has a lack of understanding of what is currently being offered in the gym for memberships. An extremely disappointing experience nonetheless. Not worth your time or money!

Angella Daluz: Very nice facility, started to go here because I wanted to get excited about going to the gym. Sweatbox is really intense! Overall I have been loving the experience so far, just very expensive and they do not allow the same guest to come back after the first visit.
Response: Hi Angella, thanks for this review and glad you are enjoying the facilities! Sweatbox is an awesome workout and so happy you've been loving it. While we know we're not the cheapest gym out there, we truly believe we are the best value thanks to our high standards of cleanliness and quality of our team and equipment and the breadth and depth of our services. We hope your guest will become a member too! Thanks again for your review.

Steve E.: Very clean, full service gym including top of the line equipment, knowledgeable staff and personal trainers, a spa, smoothie bar, and multiple locations some of which feature rooftop pool access (with the right membership). The locker rooms are well appointed and the showers include shampoo and body wash with towel service at no additional cost. Most gym showers become nasty after a year or so after opening, but VIDA maintains a high standard that sets it apart from other area gyms.

Katarina Mijic-Barisic: I did not physically go to this gym so I cannot speak for their facility, but when I was shopping around for one, I contacted this VIDA. They were very unwilling to share transparency with pricing and asked me several times to discuss pricing when I arrived at the gym for a tour, despite me explaining to them that I do not have time to do a tour. It was a very salesy vibe which is never appreciated.
Response: Hi Katarina, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback. All of our membership details, including pricing, are available on our website: https://vidafitness.com/membership/options/ We hope this is the transparency you are looking for and if you're ever interested in trying out the gym for a day please let us know as we'd love to see you! - The VIDA Team

Lydia Rossi: Signed up with Vida in Balston and it is truly amazing. I've been working out for over 25 years, it is super clean, all new equipment with a layout that makes it easy to access each area, and windows on three sides with a great view. Worked out with Nick, a personal trainer and got a good feel for the equipment and suggestions for a routine on my own. Membership sign up was easy, no pressure, it took less than 20 minutes. Can't beat the location. Highly recommend this club!

David T: Fantastic gym! I’ve been going for several months & I’ve been very happy. They’ve done a great job modifying things to be Covid Safe - plenty of space between equipment, cleaned constantly & ample disinfecting supplies located throughout the gym. Everyone adheres to the mask policy & is good about cleaning equipment when done. Great selection of high quality equipment, definitely worth the higher price compared to other gyms in the Ballston area.

John Saaty: This is the best workout facility in all of Arlington! Jonas Price is #1 PT and Jimmy runs a great cycling class!
Response: Hi John, thank you so much for your review! We are happy to let Jonas and Jimmy know your great feedback. We hope to see you at our Ballston location again soon!
