Balance Gym Thomas Circle: what do users think?

J: I was visiting DC and did a few CrossFit drop in classes. The coaches were excellent and welcoming, and all of the class members were very friendly. The facility is excellent. Thanks for making my visit so nice.

Somak Ghosh: Used to be a member of the foggy bottom location and liked it. Not so much this one. -The equipment is probably from the 1980s. Some of the plates are so old they’ve turned red. Yet I’ve been charged multiple enhancement fees. -A lot of the machines are breaking down and don’t get regularly fixed. -The staff is nice but not that helpful. Other locations will actually help you and they have designated staff to hell tidy the weights -Most of the good equipment is in the CrossFit area. If you just want to lift weights you’re second class in this gym. I’ll probably leave soon. I wanted to end my “annual” membership but I learned in the fine text of my contract that it’s actually 13 months. Another scummy move.
Response: Hey Somak, Thank you for bringing this feedback to our attention! I'm sorry you feel that your experience at our Thomas Circle location isn't up to par with our other locations. We really strive to be a great fitness community for all of our members. I'd love to have the opportunity to further discuss your experiences here, in hopes that we can do better. Please email me directly at chris@balancegym.com so we can work together to bring you a better fitness experience! Best, Chris General Manager Balance Gym

Alistair Perumal: Used this gym for a month in DCReally enjoyed the atmosphere and most especially the Sanitized environmentWould go again!

Jack Sykstus: Was a long time member. Went to both Thomas Circle and Foggy Bottom locations frequently. Great gym in the DC area, and live the CrossFit programming. Tons of options for fitness there. Go if you can.

Kristin Dion: The staff was friendly, the facilities seemed clean, hand sanitizer was well stocked, and the classes have been helpful!

Obi Asemota: I joined this gym with my wife about a year ago after seeing how well kept the place is, and how professional the staff and trainers conducted themselves. We’ve been doing our evening work outs ever since, and I must say, the ties we’ve made with the people here are just beyond words. One of the best gyms in DC, without a doubt.
Response: Obi- Thanks and we're fortunate to have you as part of our community. Take care and keep training!

Caetie Ofiesh: Easily the best gym in the city, reasonably priced and a great workout atmosphere - nice but not fancy, lots of people serious about fitness. Ive gotten some of my best training advice from staff there, Michael, Stacy, Aesha and others.

Libby: I never write reviews, however, given my horrible experience I decided to share. Belonged to this gym for a few months. Everything smells, needs to be cleaned / updated. You can see the machine rust / falling apart. You get what you pay for. Customer service is horrible. There is one woman who has a horrible attitude and closes the gym 15 minutes early than the actual listed closing time and rudely rushed me and other people working out at the gym on multiple occasions. I tried cancelling my membership and they made it extremely difficult and ended up charging me for 2 extra months, despite me moving more than 10 miles away. Overall, bad experience wouldn’t recommend.

Brendan Gregory: Really awesome gym! Lots of squat racks and bars on the second floor. First floor is just for cross fit but the rest of the building is for regular gym members. They also have personal training in a separate studio right on 14th Street.
Response: Thanks Brendan! PS- Is that a FD RX7?!

David Lapidus: Fantastic gym. Have been a member since 2012 (Thomas Circle location) and been happy the whole time. Plenty of squat racks and places to perform olympic lifts. GREAT membership options especially compared to the bloodsucking national chain gyms.
Response: Thank you for the review David! #balancelife

VIDA Fitness Gallery Place: what do users think?

Ignacio Vera Loza: Very nice environment, kind staff and good housekeeping. Not usually crowded and a very flexible operating hours. It doesn’t hurt to have a salon there which I also visited. I would like some more leg exercise equipment but, regarding the rest, is very complete. I am really enjoying my membership here. The location is also very convenient!

Luke Dawson: Went here at the last minute before catching a flight. Unlike other nearby gyms, allowed for visitor pass without knowing a member. Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Great facility and equipment as well.

Andy Cassell: With so many gyms to choose from, VIDA has really stood out to me as one of the best for a number of reasons. Since the pandemic, they really took member's safety seriously and have taken a number of great steps to keep us safe. To be able to go to the gym and feel safe during these trying times is a huge improvement in my quality of life!

Eugene Anderson: This is one of my favorite gyms anywhere. It’s a perfect size for a central, downtown location. They have the latest equipment including the Woodway treadmills which are great for those with knee joint issues. They have lots of rubber plate weights & platforms for deadlifts & cleans. They have my spin bikes with Coach by Color system which is great in a spin class or using alone sigh the bike app. The gym is clean & well designed. It can get crowded during before 9am & after 5pm rush, but nothing too bad. Friendly staff make it my gym of choice in DC.

David Zeledon: Staff is very friendly! However the gym layout is not the most easy to navigate through as you work out. Since there isn’t too much horizontally the gym is 3 stories high with many different machine areas on 2 different floors which isn’t convenient for super-setting. The individual pools were broken for a long time, and equipment doesn’t seem to get fixed with any sense of urgency. Steam room is coed and pretty spacious.

Zachary Curtis: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityOverall really great gym. They have handled reopening during the pandemic even better than my high expectations. I feel extremely safe with their well thought out cleaning and social distancing procedures.

Wesley Swanzy: Clean gym, friendly staff, and it is my go-to when I visit DC.

Jenn: BEWARE OF CANCELLATIONS! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS GYM TO ANYONE.. When we first signed up, we read the terrible reviews regarding cancellations and expressed our concern to Jaramis Wallace (manager at that time) who ensured us he would be flexible if we moved and not charge extra fees. He he has since left and new management will not honor that agreement. Make sure you get everything in writing.. they will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you signed up. Areas of Frustration: 1. During COVID they charged you even though the gym was closed! YOU WERE CHARGED FOR A PRODUCT THAT WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO YOU... sounds a lot like the law suit Washington Sports Club recently lost. 2. I am on a month to month contract. Was charged the $79 annual fee on the month I cancelled (was told the fee is for the following year that I will not be a member), plus I have to pay my membership dues $113, plus I have to pay a $25 cancellation fee... How is there is a cancellation fee when I'm not breaking my contract (I'm month to month) and I'm giving a 30 days notice. They will look for anyway to make a dollar. I regret not paying closer attention to the contract and trusting the words of their employees which clearly holds no weight. They're charging me $217+ for one month when I'm not even going to be in the city... Fine, then they should be reimbursing us for the months they were closed and we couldn't use the product we were all paying for. 3+ months they were closed and we still got charged and had to pay the annual fee... not sure how that is legal..

Julia Ormond: I started off going to the U St location because I read bad reviews here for Gallery Place, but honestly was very satisfied and happy with my experience at this location! Locker rooms are very nice, there’s ample space in the stretching area, a lot of cardio machines, and overall very nice employees. Ignore the bad reviews here and give it shot yourself visiting this location/using this gym! It made me happy and I am now going to this location instead U St moving forward!

Shawn Adams: Positive: QualityGreat club, great experience. This location is a little older than some of the other ones, but still meets VIDA's high quality standards. The location is great for commuting.

Orangetheory Fitness: what do users think?

90Pitin: A nice place if you don’t care about personal classes, and coaches and staff are really nice. But, they are ruthless with their cancellation/freezing policies. After having a new baby and going back to work (I’m a physician) I tried to cancel/freeze my subscription for time and financial reasons. The last day of my month I tried to do it, and because it is the day they charged me, they want to charge me TWO more months before cancelling my account due to their policies of not letting them know the month prior (basically one day ago). Absurd, abusive and inflexible even in the setting of trying to cancel for financial and personal reasons. Maybe if they were more empathic and helpful, I would have freeze my account, but this situation made me cancel and will not consider OT again in the future. I guess this is an issue with big gyms like this one, a lack flexibility.
Response: Martin, I'm sorry for your less than satisfactory experience while trying to cancel your membership. We're actually not a big gym rather we are a small business, independently owned, local franchise of Orangetheory Fitness. However, we have to follow corporate policy. Note that Orangetheory Fitness is a global franchise with network-wide rules & policies. We have to enforce the rules equally for all the members. At the time of sign-up we specifically go over the cancellation policy and the advance notice required for cancellation prior to charges going through. Unfortunately you failed to provide an advance notice. However, in your situation the studio manager connected with you when she was alerted by the front desk staff. We worked with you to come to a resolution to your satisfaction. I hope that was acceptable to you and that you'll consider making Orangetheory part of your fitness journey in the future. For further questions or concerns please reach out to us at the studio's email: studio0437@orangetheoryfitness.com

Gregory J: Extremely predatory pricing. I had an “unlimited” membership, and they still looked for every avenue to nickel and dime me beyond that. When I forgot a heart monitor, they gave me a temp one for the day and didn’t tell me they were charging me ten bucks to “rent” it for that session. When I booked a class for the next day at 10pm and cancelled an hour and a half later because I wasn’t feeling well, they charged me fourteen dollars for a “cancel fee.” When I went in to cancel my unlimited membership as a result, they informed me I was locked in to pay for another TWO full months. I know gyms have a reputation for this sort of thing, but these folks take it to a new level. If you must, do NOT pay for anything but an individual class or two - you will regret it and end up paying hundreds more than you expected.
Response: Greg, we're sorry for your less than satisfactory experience at OTF. Our goal is to always provide top notch customer experience. It appears that you signed up for a membership about a month ago and you enjoyed free unlimited classes as part of our summer promotion. We appreciate you trusting us to make us part of your fitness journey. Orangetheory Fitness has set rules and policies across the network of thousands of studios. At the time of sign up we go over all these policies with the member, including cancellation process for the membership, heart rate monitor rental prices, and late cancel rules for classes among other Rules & Policies for the studio. There is a separate document that you signed which goes over all these policies. At the time of sign up we go over the membership cancellation process also. It requires one-month notice to cancel and one final payment with complete access to classes for the final month that you pay for. As for the class late cancel process, our app will automatically assign a late cancel to you if you cancel a class within 8 hours of the class. However, if you text or call us before class time with a legitimate reason, e.g. not feeling well or reschedule to another class on the same day, we are always considerate and remove the late cancel charge, within reason. The studio management will connect with you to listen to and alleviate your concerns. We hope that you will continue your fitness journey with OTF and continue to see the results that your hard work produces with OTF classes.

Danielle Guido: I like that Orange Theory workouts have a lot of variety, in both the layout of each class (moving between rower, treadmill, and floor) and the goals of each workout (endurance and/or strength). The workout makes you work, pushing me harder than I would push myself on my own, and goes by quickly as you listen to the instructor and move between each section. I also appreciate how friendly and helpful the staff is. Initially, I thought it was a little overkill to have to be there 30 minutes prior to my first workout, but that time was valuable to learn how the class works, what to expect, get setup with a heart rate monitor, and review any injuries that the instructor should be aware of. All in all, it was a great experience!

Erica Teller: Love working out here! Instructors are great and the facility is modern and relaxing. Can't wait to come back!

Isabella Pacheco: The music was a tad loud and I found a bit hard to listen to the instructor (but I think that was just how the instructor was managing the mic etc) The rest was great. The usual really good lots of calories burned workout. I was specially impressed by the way they were ready to receive me with paperwork and a locker as well as water for me to take into my class. Felt very welcomed!

Courtney Bolin: I love Orange Theory. I've been a member for over a year and I love the workouts. I don't get bored during the classes and I walk out feeling great afterwards. I love it so much, that I picked an apartment near a studio when I moved. That said, I highly dislike this studio. I recently canceled my membership and will not be attending the classes here for three reasons. First, the front desk staff are not polite. On several occasions, someone (Mariah?) said she would call me back and never did. In person, several staff members were rude. Some of them were misinformed and would give me bad information, then other staff members would act like I was crazy when I was confused. The staff is the biggest reason that I am leaving--I had problems with billing and classes being charged outside of my membership, and I got tired of having to chase people down to get things fixed. Second, its difficult to get into a class. The convenient times have long waiting lists and I haven't been able to get into classes on the weekend. Plus, with the 8 hour cancellation policy, it is impossible for me to schedule a class too far in advance because my job can be unpredictable. Third, the instructors are very okay. Not bad, but not great.
Response: Hi Courtney! Thank you for taking some time to offer this feedback and we appreciate you being part of the OTF family. We are disappointed to hear that you have had negative experience at our studio and understand that at this time of year it can be difficult to get into some peak time classes, but we always encourage members to pre-book classes and watch the waitlists closely as they move very quickly. Almost always you have a very good chance of getting into the class of your choice if you pre-book in advance, put yourself on the waitlist, or be at the studio before the start of the class. Like all Orangetheory studios we strive to provide the best in customer experience for all of our members by being positive, prompt, and upbeat. On occasion there are issues that are beyond the control of the studio management such as an app issue or classes being pulled from the pack vs. membership etc. that the OTF help desk has to help with. I see that the staff has been hard at work behind the scenes to have such issues fixed for you. We will be sharing this feedback with our team and will have higher level management connect with you shortly to try to turn your experience around. Also, coaches are always available for consult and they are open to feedback. Feel free to give them suggestions and/or address your concerns with them, the Head Coach and the Studio Manager.

Will Trokey: Love my home studio! I have been a member of Orangetheory for over 2 years, and I continue to LOVE this workout. No two workouts are ever the same. The staff at this studio is very friendly and accommodating. They help you understand the policies and work with you on the technology involved. Plus, they added a towel service which I know is not offered at other studios outside of DC area to stay competitive with the intense gym market. You can customize your own workout, so if you are looking for a new challenge but feel intimidated check Orangetheory out.

Anna Trupiano: I came in as a visitor for a couple months while on an internship in DC. I LOVE my Orange Theory studio in Michigan. I love the workout obviously, and that doesn’t change based on studio, but I love the coaches, the staff, the atmosphere. It feels so welcoming and kind. I loved it so much I didn't want to give it up and was willing to pay extra money for this premium studio so I wouldn't miss out during my internship. My experience at this studio, however, has been mostly negative. The music is incredibly loud (which makes me sound 90 I know, but outrageously loud) and when I asked if it was possible to turn it down a little because it physically hurt the coach laughed at me. They did give me ear plugs which I wore each time, and I did appreciate, but even after explaining the effect of an 85+ decibel exposure over an hour and its impact on hearing loss, they made no attempts to change. Some of the coaches are wonderful, while others are pretty intense and drill sergeant-y, which I guess is probably the case in many places but they don't feel as connected to the people as I've felt at other studios. On a particularly tough day I got out of work late due to a student crisis, got stuck in traffic in my Uber, ran two blocks, ran in the door at 4:38 for the 4:30 class and wasn’t allowed in. It wasn’t a full class that was just their policy. I am not normally late to classes, usually crazy early, but the one time an exception couldn’t be made. My studio at home were so kind and understanding about a situation similar to this, but not so much here. I will say a couple staff members and coaches have been nice and friendly, and I don't want to leave the impression that it is all bad. It isn't. There are a couple gentlemen behind the desk, a coach Ashley (I haven’t had all the coaches to be fair), and some wonderful clients who are all there to make it as positive as possible. But, I guess with all the other studios in DC I would suggest finding one that cared a bit more about the clients overall. They are out there and I think in the end it makes a difference.

Sarah Wingert: I really enjoy this location of OTF. The coaches are very helpful, energetic, and kind. The front desk is also very welcoming and friendly. It is a supportive environment for improving your health and fitness. Even when the class is super challenging, the coaches encourage you and keep it fun.

Malu Menon: When the pandemic first hit, I explained to this studio on the phone, that I have a high-risk health condition and had moved from DC, thereby being unable to come into the studio for classes. They agreed to freeze my account. I received a text in early December stating that I must cancel my account before it goes into collections. As I attempted to cancel my account, the staff informed me that they intended to make me pay for at least 3 months of classes, in addition to the cancellation fee. This is unfair, as I had already explained my health condition and situational change to the studio. I agreed to pay the cancellation fee of one month's fees, but they threaten me with collection. It is extremely unfair to attempt to back-bill past months of classes, especially given COVID circumstances.
Response: Hi Ms. Malvika! Thank you for your feedback and we're sorry for any inconvenience. After further investigation I'll like to respond with some facts. You had signed up for a monthly recurring, auto-bill membership at Orangetheory Fitness, which requires one month of notice of cancellation per the agreement and the policies. We go over this detail very carefully at the time of sign-up and we get your acknowledgment of understanding of these rules. Therefore, your CC gets an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) every month. Due to the pandemic we had informed you that you have the option to continue your membership and attend classes since our re-opening or you can put your membership on hold without incurring any charges. We have a signed freeze form from you where you chose to put your membership on hold from 07-25 to 08-25. The document clearly outlines that at the end of the requested freeze your monthly recurring membership will become active and monthly EFT will resume. We have no other communication from you since then nor do we have any cancellation or another freeze request while your account remained active, until we contacted you in December due to your three declined payments since resuming after the freeze ended in August. At this time you informed us that you wish to cancel your membership. Your account was in delinquent status now. You had this same choice back in August when your account was current and it had come out of the freeze. We would have happily processed your cancellation request then with one month's notice. Since reopening we have relaxed some membership policies and provided several options to members given how the pandemic has affected all of our worlds. In order to cancel a delinquent account our team presented you with several options to bring your account to current status and was willing to waive certain declined payments, including the ability to stagger payments and allow you to take all the classes from your membership when you are comfortable to return next year. Our studio manager has been trying to reach you to come to a resolution that is acceptable to you. Instead you have sent us a threat that we should accept only one payment by a certain deadline otherwise you plan to report us to BBB. The pandemic has had tremendous effect on all of our lives. We have and we will continue to work with our members to come to a fair resolution with any such disputes, while being fair and equitable to all members with respect to our policies. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and we hope to work towards a solution!

Reformation Fitness: what do users think?

DC Techie: Wanted to love the class/studio but had a mediocre experience. Few modifications provided during abs class made for a precarious situation for first timers. Teacher did not seem to notice anyone but the regulars. Room was packed. The sequence went too quickly. Given the class type, may have benefited from less moves or more repetition so we could work on form rather than struggle to get set up. Positives: clean studio with water dispenser and lockers. Variety of classes offered. Good AC and cool temperature in classroom

Bonafide Experiment: IMO, this is the best gym in DC. Love the energy of trainers and attendees here. The trainers are inspiring, professional, and attentive to each one’s posture and growth. They also have a supportive community where you feel welcomed even when you come here for the first time. I have been following their virtual classes but can’t wait to go back and take pilates classes when the summer ends.

Jennifer Rowley: I love all of the instructors doing group reformer classes. Everyone is talented in their own way and I always get an amazing workout. It's a bit of a distance from where I live and work, and parking (if I drive) can be stressful, but I keep going back b/c it's worth it. I feel comfortable and the instructors know my name which is really nice.

Allie Medack: Awesome classes. Every time I go, I know I’m going to get a great workout. Whether you’re a beginner or someone who has worked out for years and loves to be pushed, the instructors tailor the class to your intensity levels and needs. This is my favorite studio in DC.

Taylor Dankmyer: My favorite gym in the district. Love the variety of classes & instructors. For the Metcon/HIIT classes, I love that each week is a different focus (power, strength, or endurance) and each day is either lower, upper, or full body. It's also easy to scale the workouts down or up based on your ability. I've always felt super welcome & comfortable here.

Izaak Beekman: Amazing gym. Great #RefFitFam community. Other patrons are friendly, supportive and encouraging. Instructors are motivating without yelling at you, always helping you dig deeper and ask more of yourself. Programming is well structured and varied. This is not the type of gym to go to if you want to admire yourself in the mirror or find a date. Each class will ask 100% of you and you'll leave happy, exhausted and dripping with sweat.

Elizabeth Matts: I love reformation fitness! It's close to home so super convenient and has quickly become my go-to workout place - so much so that I purchase monthly packages so that I can go all the time and without the restriction of classpass. Everyone is super friendly, the instructors are professional and incredibility skilled at their craft. They do a fantastic job of pushing us outside of our comfort zones but always in a safe and controlled way. And I value that the instructors whose classes I got to regularly have made the effort to learn my name. I like that there is a nice mix of class options that I can choose from including: Spinning, TRX Fusion, MetCon, Bootcamps and Reformer Pilates, as well as classes offered at 7.30pm on a weekday evening. The Saturday Sweat sessions are my favorite and always set my weekend up right. All in all a very convenient place to workout, clean and modern equipment, friendly atmosphere and fantastic fitness instruction all in one.

Lauren Kane: The trainers know you by name and it feels like a community. Any issues with passes are resolved swiftly and effectively. Really awesome staff. I moved from around the corner from the gym to all the way out in Maryland and I will still gladly drive the 40 minutes to go to a class at Reformation Fitness any day.

Caitlin Baker: The workouts are always well thought out and challenging and the teachers are awesome. The studio has a great community feel and the prices are reasonable. My favorite workout studio in DC!

Bidisha Roy: Love the studio vibe, humble but refined atmosphere, group reformer class size, professionalism, and quality/precision of instruction. RF is unparalleled for group reformer classes. Not cheap, but reasonably priced for the area. Instructors and students occasionally engage in light, sparse conversation, which is fine. I've been to a few other studios where the instructors and students converse constantly, which i find distracting, isolating, and unprofessional. Not RF though :)

F45 Training U Street: what do users think?

Bridgette Hall: I've been coming to this studio since May 2018, and with almost 900 classes completed since then, I'd say I'm addicted! I've seen the studio go through a few different directors, and it still always feels like a family. I love the complimentary bootcamp classes they offer in the warmer months! New members get a free week to try it out, which is such an amazing offer. Try it out if you haven't yet - nothing to lose!

Hannah Hanover: I've been going to F45 for a few months now - not only is the studio clean, safe, and highly pandemic-protected (no covid there!) but the coaches are warm, professional, and highly knowledgeable. Classes have also been a mental/emotional lifesaver during quarantine. And as for progress? I've gone from asthmatically panting my way through two push-ups on my knees to better reps and form, higher overall stamina, a lifted butt, strengthened back and core and an improved knowledge of safe exercise techniques and lifting form. It's a great workout, kind community, and welcoming space. I highly recommend this studio - EVEN mid-pandemic!!! Try them out!

Julie Arsenault: After years trying to figure out a fitness routine that works for me, F45 U Street is it. I showed up as a total couch potato. The trainers were so kind and helpful when I clearly had no idea what I was doing and every move seemed impossible. Four months later, I am so much stronger and surprise myself all the time in everyday life when I can lift heavy things or run with my dog. It's truly functional fitness. The trainers still push me and tweak my form (nicely), and I'm excited to see where I am six months from now. I decided to write this after trying a different gym class today and realizing how much better this studio and trainers are. I do have to disagree with another review though. Jason has the best music.

Tessa Phillips: I wish I could give this gym more than 5 stars so buckle up for a lengthy review explanation. TL/DR: great trainers willing to teach, focused workouts that actually work, fun and non-judgy atmosphere. (Note: If you try a class and the vibe isn't quite right, try a different one with a different trainer until you find the right music/communication style.) I tried F45 initially bc it was conveniently located and offered me a free week. Therefore, if i hated it, I wouldn't waste any money. I was really intimidated to join a gym that did classes because I didn't think I could keep up and I didn't want to be embarrassed or uncomfortable. But I was really out of shape and unmotivated to go to a gym solo, so I gave it a go. My membership is the best gift I ever gave myself. I feel stronger every day! And I am always so happy when I leave class even on days I struggle to get there. The trainers are really patient and knowledgeable and willing to teach (and reteach and reteach) the movements with a focus on good form and safety. They are really kind even if half your attempts to jump on a box result in you slamming your shins into it. I am not the most coordinated but somehow over time, I find that I can perform exercises that seemed impossible. The trainers give you modifications to the movements to match your skill/fitness level. There are super fit members that go here and they get heavier weights and modifications to meet their levels. For those starting out, there are lighter weights and easier mods. I feel guilty calling out just a couple trainers by name, because they are all awesome. But if you are nervous to start , I recommend looking for a class with Megan P or Kaisa. They play the best jams and have the best tips/tricks to get the form right. They make even the hardest classes super fun. Jason has the runner up best jams and fun classes, so also great for new people to try out.
Response: So... You rock. We cannot thank you enough for these kind words and please, keep us accountable to this standard! We won't quit if you won't! - Love, The U Street Squad

Reilly Knecht: F45 U St. is absolutely the best gym in DC. I've tried a lot of gyms...cycle, HIIT, boot camps, Orange Theory...but every single time I come back to F45 and I see RESULTS. Not only does F45 do incredible things for every different kind of body, but the instructors and the community make this tinier gym on U St feel like HOME. Their communication is impeccable and understanding is unparalleled. I can't recommend F45 U St and their amazing instructors enough. What are you waiting for!! Try it out for a free week now!!!!!

Ariella: Freaking love these people. The workout is great and the perfect amount of demanding. I've been going for several weeks now and they still treat me like it's my first time. The environment is awesome, everyone is always having a blast and cared for; all while getting their butts kicked. It's awesome how quickly they make you feel comfortable and welcomed. It's the perfect place for someone who wants to get a good workout in, but might be hesitant to go somewhere new or meet new people. Give it a try - you won't regret it!
Response: Hey Ariella- We freaking love you as well! Cheers and see you soon!

Allison Jensen: I cannot say enough fabulous things about the team at F45 U street! They’ve always been great, but they’ve really gone above and beyond to make their fitness fam (aka: customers) feel safe to workout at the studio during these uncertain times. We’ve been back for about three weeks now and I’m so impressed by their commitment to ensuring not a single piece of equipment is shared, from the time you line up in the alley to get into the class till you're back out the door afterward, there’s not a moment that you are within 6 feet of another person. If an instructor touches a piece of equipment (helps someone with it, brings them a lighter/heavier size, etc) they immediately wipe it down before it’s touched again. And, the icing on the cake is the fact that not only are they doing so much inside the studio, they are continuing to offer both zoom & outdoor bootcamp classes for those who are not yet ready to re-enter the studio. They have really thought of everything in order to keep people safe and comfortable while working out!
Response: We're not crying, YOU'RE CRYING! Thank you so much for this review. We will continue to do everything we can to keep you safe and fit!

Lauren Pignataro Rakitin: While the space is a bit small, F45 more than makes up for that with the amazing workouts and community it brings to the neighborhood. The workouts are 45 minutes long (60 on Saturdays), and are accessible but tough. The coaches and people are very supportive and friendly, making this a great workout experience!
Response: Thanks for training with us Lauren!

Bridgette Hall: Weekday classes are only 45 minutes, but don't think that you won't get a good workout in. You are constantly moving the entire time! I love this studio because it allows me to get an intense workout in without taking a lot of time out of my day. Plus I can bring my two small pups to the space, so they can stay entertained. I suggest trying it for free for 2 weeks - check out their website!
Response: Thank you so much for your awesome review! You rock! And we love the little fur balls!

Ariel Steinberg: Love this studio, the music, and love the instructors. They have incredible energy which make getting your butt kicked not so bad. As someone who gets bored super easily, this workout is perfect.
Response: Thanks for training with us Ariel!

Orangetheory Fitness: what do users think?

Mahnaaz Ismailzadah: I am very disappointed with this site. I love Orange Theory and rave about it to everyone. I am from NJ visiting my friend who recently moved to DC and i saw that she is walking distance from this OTF site. She was also thinking of joining a gym and I was highly recommending her to join OTF. I signed us up over the phone with Evon and let her know it will be my friend’s first time here. When we arrived 30 min before our work out, there was no one at the front desk for a while. Then when Evon finally came, we find out my friend was not added on to the roster and claimed we were “late”. Evon was being unkind and not understanding that we had called to have my friend try out a class before getting a membership. Evon was arguing back that your friend shouldve called back and that i didnt provide her information, even though she knew I was bringing a potential new member beforehand. She failed to put her on the roster and failed to communicate properly. I ended up cancelling my work out and we left disappointed and unhappy. I felt embarrassed and letdown because i clearly overhyped OTF and, when i brought my friend here the OTF staff did not care about their current member and potential new one.

David Do: On February 12, 2022, I visited the Orange Theory on 14th street after responding to an advertisement on Facebook/Instagram. It said if I signed up I would receive a free class. I put in my email and did not respond to the repeated calls to get me to come try their studio (see virtual voicemail messages from studio). Finally, after many calls I picked up the phone and the associate convinced me to sign up for a class. They said it would be free and that when I attend I just need to arrive early and fill out my paperwork online before class. I did all that and was at the class. When I arrived to class this morning and checked-in an associate calls me across the room and says, "Are you David!? You need to pay for the class!" I couldn't hear because we were all masked so I walked closer to understand the situation. And she says that because I previously took a class at another Orange Theory I needed to pay for the class. They offered so me sort of preferred rate but by that time i made a decision to leave because I felt disrespected. I was frustrated and said I would leave and take the SoulCycle class around the corner. I even referred a full paying friend to come with me to the class that morning. We both left to go to the SoulCycle Survivor class at 9:30am the team at SoulCycle were welcoming and treated me and my friend with respect. In none of my calls or text with OT did they say I would have to pay for class. In fact, they said it would be free when I chatted with the associate. If they let me know in advance instead of cornering me 20 minutes before class, I may have been more understanding. I wish that they had outlined expectations a little bit better especially since I scheduled this class two weeks in advance. Needless to say I had a very bad experience. I was upset and I just feel my customer experience was not up to par. My friend and I are now probably not going to this OT in the future. I just cannot believe how this experience turned out.

Rod Thomas: 1st Visit: The team was friendly and welcoming. It made me less nervous before meeting the coach. Luke is such an engaging and motivating coach. He was awesome. The workout class was challenging but oh so worth it. I’ll definitely be back on Thursday. Update: I joined in May. The coaches, the classes, and the location is amazing. I have recommended OTF to all of my colleagues, neighbors, and friends. Love Coach Jihad, Coach Maddie, and Coach Luke- OTF on 14th is my favorite.

James Melgarejo: First time at this gym. Was visiting DC from NJ and took a 2G 45min class. Everyone including the coach was great! Highly recommend OTF!! 🔥🧡

Nicole Deloney: I was a member 2 years ago and I was interested in joining Orange Theory again, it's obvious the people that worked there before are gone because the level customer service has declined. I've called on seperate occasions inquiring about rejoing and my questions and concerns due to covid. I WAS not greeted very friendly and the persons on the phone aren't able to give much information. This disappointing hopefully when the manager is available my questions can be answered.

Mallika Thomas: The coaches here are absolutely fantastic. However, the management here is terrible. The management needs to be more clear about their policies. Something as simple as posting what the late arrival window is, in the window would be helpful, but the policies seem inconsistently applied, and I have been told different things on different days. I have also been told different things than what other members have been told. The coaches here are absolutely great, but the studio is badly managed. Every time I come, I am given a completely different set of policies. For example, I was on the waitlist, and asked to wait 10 minutes for the people who were signed up for class to have their window, and I was allowed in after 12 minutes. So I missed 15 minutes of a 45-minute class. However, when I next came and was seven minutes late, I was told the window was five minutes. Next time, I was told the window was three minutes. Different rules for different people, apparently, or just a manager who does not have a consistent set of policies. An easy way to ensure that there are not different rules for different people is to just post somewhere, for example, on the window of the studio what exactly the window of arrival is. We are already constrained to not arriving more than five minutes early, due to Covid, and that is posted on the window. So it would make the policy clear for everyone to know what the late arrival window is as well. My sense is that they don't want to be clear about it because they do, in fact, have different rules for different people, as I have regularly been on the waitlist while others are given ten minutes to arrive. Most recently, I arrived just outside of a three-minute window (mind you, I've been told previously that it was ten...and on a different day that it was five). I had both called and texted, as staff members had previously advised me to do. (Apparently, it doesn't actually matter to do this, but again, I am being told different things by different people. I might have arrived on time if I hadn't spent my time following what I was told were the rules.) I was okay with the fact that they had to give my spot away to someone else. However, since I arrived just outside of the window, I asked whether I could be put into a later class that day. I was told that it was considered a "no-show," so I was charged $28 for a "no-show," even though I did, in fact, show, as previous staff members have told me to do. I believe the staff members are doing their best, but the studio manager has not provided a consistent set of policies, as I have communicated with her. I have attended OrangeTheory for five years in all different cities throughout the US - Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Long Beach, New York City, Seattle... the list goes on...I have never encountered a studio with such inconsistent policies before. When there are different rules for different people, this really makes one wonder what the reason for that is... That said, the coaches are phenomenal, and the staff are great people and are doing their best. Management holds the responsibility for this.

Sarah B: I love this location. Admittedly it’s my home gym, but I wouldn’t pay for workouts every month if I didn’t love the OTF concept and how they implement it at OTF 14th Street. It’s a “select” location so you might pay a bit more, but I think it’s worth it. Most of the coaches are great, most of the classes have the right coach:client ratio, and the facilities are really nice. I love it, and everyone else who’s tried it has loved it, too.

Patryk Tararuj: OTF is a great organization to work for. I have been working with them for 2 years already as a subcontractor and they don't only promote health but also value people. Each employee is very friendly and professional. My wife joined their fitness classes and she absolutely loves it.

Katherine Browne: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityEnergetic and solid workout for all fitness levels. Staff and coaches are super friendly and helpful.

Michael Williams: Demi is amazing! A perfect balance of fun yet she pushes us. I really enjoy her classes! I have really worried about joining a class like this but from my first one, I felt like home here. My fears were relieved when I met the staff and this is a great community. I have never enjoyed working out as much.

Uplift Strength & Spirit: what do users think?

Andie Vaught: Nancy is a fantastic trainer! She is very responsive and easy to work with, incredibly personable and supportive, and extremely knowledgeable about all things strength, mobility, and yoga. She is a great teacher and has helped me consistently improve at weightlifting. I would highly recommend her to anyone with any fitness-related goals, regardless of age or prior experience.
Response: Thank you, Andie!! It is such a blessing to have fabulous athletes like you who are eager to learn and want to put in the effort to see progress. I've loved helping you get physically stronger, but, most of all, seeing your excitement to keep going and being disciplined enough to workout on your own are a huge inspiration to me. That enthusiasm is a big reason for why I am dedicated to this work! Thanks for being such a star :)

Aimee Dowl: Uplift changed my life! I started to train with Nancy as a way to restore my health, increase strength, and manage stress. After xix months of training with Nancy and Gary at this evolved and body positive gym, I feel terrific and have lost a lot of weight. Training at Uplift has been the best investment in my health I’ve ever made, and has taken me to a completely new level of health, strength and wellness. For me, all physical activities are easier now - running, yoga, swimming - and so are life activities, like work and travel. What I love the most is that Nancy’s personalized program provides rapid improvement and results but at a manageable and safe level. She also provides a sense of community without being invasive. This is the ultimate safe space and low key gym that really helps people reach their goals. Strongly recommend if you want to try weightlifting for the first time.
Response: What a pleasure to work with you, Aimee! You are amazing and what you've accomplished is so inspiring. Hope to see you soon!

Leslie Linn: Nancy Townsend is a marvelous coach and trainer. I had been telling myself for several years that I needed to do some strength training in addition to the aerobic exercise I did, but I never found anything that seemed like a good fit until I was lucky enough to stumble upon Nancy and Uplift Strength and Spirit. She’s a caring, knowledgeable, and inspiring coach and trainer. She was also excellent at working with some existing joint issues I had. She found ways for me to do the workout without hurting myself, and this included some pretty creative solutions on her part! I’m sure that a major part of my decision to delay knee replacement surgery has to do with the work we did together strengthening my core and quads. The Amazing 12 was quite a ride! It really is a commitment, but I found it to be well worth it. It’s a great program for anyone that wants to take his or her training to a new level, but it’s also a good place to start. I had never lifted before I started Amazing 12. Nancy is very good a working with multiple levels of expertise within a group - from beginner to very experienced. I think she is so good that I have signed up to work with her twice a week in her small group sessions for Amazing 12 graduates.
Response: Go Leslie, go! You are a rock star!! What a pleasure it is to work with you and to have you around the gym regularly. You've come quite a long way and I'm very pleased with your progress and your dedication. You're always working hard and it shows! Thanks so much for your sweet words and support! Keep up the great work :)

Miriam Ponciano: I’ve worked with a few personal trainers in the past and Nancy is the most knowledgeable coach I have met. She is highly responsive and personalizes your exercise routine based off of your needs and goals. When I let her know my knee had been bothering me from a past ACL injury, she took the time to listen and customized my exercises to strengthen it. She is constantly challenging you and pushing you in a healthy and productive way. I highly recommend Nancy for anyone looking for a positive, knowledgeable and flexible trainer.
Response: Thanks, Miriam!! It's always fun to workout with your positive energy in the room. I've been so happy to see you working so hard and to watch you get stronger each week! Awesome work!

Eileen Hennessey: Nancy has been my personal trainer for over 2 years and she is fantastic. She works with clients of varying fitness levels and ages. She makes a real point tailoring the workout to the client rather than trying to fit the client into a cookie cutter routine. She has made adjustments to the routine when injuries arose and that has meant I could stick to a workout routine which is a great accomplishment (for me and for Nancy 😏). Finally, she is good at varying the workout based upon my long and short term goals so that I stay motivated. I can't recommend her enough.
Response: Great work, Eileen! I'm so glad we accomplished your goals this year :) It is always a joy to work with you and makes my job so much fun. Thanks for your kind words.

Kristen Mayer: When I first started working with Nancy I was completely new to weightlifting, but she made it seem approachable, and in my time working with her, I have seen my strength and technique continually improve. Nancy is extremely knowledgeable, personal, and motivating - and overall an amazing trainer!
Response: Thank you, Kristen, for such a positive review! I always have a great time working with you and it has been really fun for me to watch you improve every session. Keep it up!

anon ymous: Working out at Uplift was a great experience. I am about 30 lbs lighter and much stronger than when I started. These jeans were tight on me in May of 2018! I definitely recommend contacting Nancy if you are seriously ready to take the first step. The workouts were tough but a lot of fun!
Response: Thanks so much! You rocked it!!

Michelle Riestra: Uplift has transformed how I viewed strength training. The program combines yoga and barbells! Nancy, the head coach is super knowledgeable and personalizes the routine to make sure you achieve results. She teaches you to listen to your body which is so important so you don't get injured. I have gone to many gyms but it's Nancy's expertise and constant attention to detail that has given me results faster! Highly recommend her!!
Response: Michelle, thank you for your feedback and recommendation :) You are such a joy to have at UPLIFT!

Idalia Rodríguez: Uplift has greatly exceeded my expectations! I started with the sole objective of getting fit and increasing strength, but I have gained way more. Both my approach to exercise and relationship with food have positively changed for the long term. Amazed at what my body can do, and with the help of Nancy, Gary and the staff, I have built body and mental resilience. I have never been a person who exercises, but that has now changed. I am happy, active, and I eat, sleep and cope better with stress thanks to Nancy, the team, and the supportive community they foster.
Response: Your words bring tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing your experience with the world and for being so authentic in expressing the difference our work together has made for you! You have been a delight to have in our space and we are LUCKY to have you in our community. I am so so so happy that this has meant so much to you. I can't wait to see what's next for you :)

David Benowitz: Nancy is a fantastic trainer and person. I've trained with her, beginning with the Amazing 12 program, for almost 4 years and achieved fantastic results! Nancy is creative and very encouraging; overall great to work with - I highly recommend her.
Response: Thanks for the recommendation, Dave!

VIDA Fitness U Street: what do users think?

Benyam Ephrem: Overall: Solid gym, nothing is overtly missing. You can do everything you need to do. Summary: Basically 3 floors, cardio floor, machine + dumbbell floor, powerlifting floor (w/ dumbbell rack). Good: The ambiance and vibe is good. You feel like you are working out in a cave with a bunch of people. Bad: - Working out from 5-6/7 sucks. The gym is too small to serve the load of patrons at rush times. There aren’t enough benches & benches for presses so you find yourself waiting for major lifts. - If you go any other time that is non-rush it is a solid gym - The benches are way too close to the mirrors, you can’t do heavy lifts and drop weights. It just feels cramped. You have to maneuver around people doing heavy lifts and there are just personal space issues (when squatting I don’t want anyone near me, we have mental bubbles). - Maybe picky but the dumbbells are decent ones. I’ve used better with more grip (steel handle with a mesh pattern etched in). They are a bit narrow in grip and have plastic handles with decent grip. This nuance is kind of annoying and grip is worse so I just do few dumbbell movements now. I’d give ~3 1/2 stars but I imagine there is a huge constraint on real-estate within the city so a gym can only be so large, etc (can’t compare it to gyms I’ve been to elsewhere). But at ~$120/130/mo you’d want more space and just…more. But this was the closest complete gym option to me (.8 mile jog) and the vibes are good. Edit: Have visited all other branches. Nice to be able to switch up gyms on a day you have time to jog farther. Great branding & vibe consistency. Great value add if you want to switch things up and drop in other gyms.
Response: Hi Benyam, thank you for your review and feedback. We take great pride in our facilities and glad to hear you have overall had a great experience. I'll make sure to share the feedback regarding both the dumbbell grips and the placement of benches in relation to the mirror. I invite you to try out some of the other locations in your membership if you get the opportunity, although I can appreciate that our U Street location is less than a mile away from you and that's fantastic. Stay strong, stay well, and see you at VIDA again soon!

Smiley Sunshine: Definitely worth the money spent! My favorite is the Sweatbox Class. Lost 14 pounds within a month and a 1/2 just in time for my wedding. Took a month off, then returned and worked out until the day of my surgery. I am recovering and So far, I can only do bike and light cardio :( but safety first. Once I'm cleared to do high intensity workouts, I will go to the Sweatbox. Can wait!
Response: Wow, and thanks for this review! Glad to hear you got the results you wanted for your wedding and hope you had a great time on your big day. It sounds like you're well on your way back to Sweatbox and we can't wait to have you rejoin some classes. Take it easy on the road to recovery and we'll see you VERY soon. Stay strong, stay healthy, stay well!

Taylor Hayes: I pay entirely too much money for there to be towels in the floor from a roof leak, a scale in the locker room that has been low battery for a week so I can’t weigh myself, and RUDE STAFF. Will be canceling my membership this month.
Response: Hi Taylor, we're super bummed to hear this and our facilities team works hard to ensure these kind of issues don't happen. I'll flag this with them, as well as the management team at U Street, and see what's going on. We hope we don't lose you as a member and invite you to chat with the team there so they can actively address your concerns. Thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback. - The VIDA Team

David Gershman: In the most appropriate way, I can say that Vida does not prioritize member safety in its steam rooms and saunas.
Response: Hi David, thanks for taking the time to leave this feedback. We recently rolled out new policies regarding our steam rooms and sauna with this goal squarely in mind, so curious to hear what sort of issues you are having. Please feel free to speak to the GM at U Street privately and/or contact our DIB with your concerns. Their information can be found at www.vidafitness.com/diversityboard. We take our members safety very seriously. Thanks again.

Joe Kawly: The most decent gym in DC. But lately, they have been faking short especially when it comesTo maintenance. It feels like each day there is something not working.

Mattia Pallozzi: Honestly I have had always a lovely experience, clean fun and the staff especially has always been pretty amazing, from managers to trainers! 👌🏻👌🏻
Response: Hi Mattia, thanks so much for the 5 star review! We think our staff is pretty awesome too and glad to hear you're getting such great service. Not to mention our housekeeping team, which we truly believe is the best in the biz. Thanks again and see you at U Street again soon!

Harry Longlast: I a had meeting with Paul and all I can say is that I have never felt so uncomfortable and embarrassed before. His rude comments about my " big chunky thighs and lack of motivation " were very unprofessional. How do you even motivate someone by highlighting his/her insecurities? He was very rude and impatient. I am not an experienced lifter, however I was under the impression that the staff and culture at vida fitness were solid. The level of unprofessionalism really upset me and will for sure never come back. He was trying way too hard and pushing me to buy a membership and did not even consider my questions, concerns. I believe as a sales director or rep; you must be able to not only know your product but to hear your clients needs in order to better cater to their need. I run a local blog with over 5,000 daily readers and will for sure write about this awful experience. I understand I am overweight but I want to make the changes in my life that get me healthier; I just wish mr Paul, as a professional would be more empathetic and see me as a human being; not just a number.

Reynaldo Castillo: Positive: ProfessionalismAmazing workout experience from the membership consultation to the quality of the facility. Paul Leiby understood my fitness goals and listened to all my concerns as I came from another gym franchise. I fully endorse the quality of the experience and I guaranty you will see results in your fitness goals.
Response: Thank you for the kind and thoughtful review, Reynaldo! We're thrilled to have you as a member of the VIDA Fitness U Street community, and we're delighted to hear that Paul has been such an asset in helping you reach your fitness goals. Take care - and thank you for joining us!

Jordan Bayless: Absolutely love the gym itself. The facility is large and has a dedicated floor for compound lifts filled with squat racks and deadlift platforms. Unfortunately, personal trainers usually dominate this space and use it for calisthenics and TRX workouts. Granted, they seem very focused on ensuring their clients have a great experience, just at the cost of other members. As a result, there is almost never an open rack or platform. The locker rooms are top notch. With a sauna, steam room, and showers that have excellent bath products, there is amazing attention to detail. The rest of the facility is nice as well. Although, it is devoid of some typically essential equipment such as seated leg curls. These spaces, to include cardio rooms, are often overcrowded and only seem to be less trafficked from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Overall, the facility is great, to include the rooftop pool. However, these seem to be used as selling points to encourage new members and after joining, the organization only is invested in trying to get members to spend more money through personal trainers, nutritionists, etc. rather than ensure members spending $180/month have an enjoyable experience.

Robert Mckernan: Pros: They have an entire floor dedicated to power lifting that has squat racks and platforms so you don’t have to wait! One always opens up within 3-5 minutes even at peak hours. The roof top pool is great and so is the food as well. I love those friggin’ wings and drinks! They also never run out of sanitizer, sprays, wipes and towels. Great hours is also a plus. I have a second membership at a competitor for later hours when my schedule entails but vida is definitely my preferred location. The members are super friendly and great and I never see anyone not masked or sassy when they’re required; I’ve made many friends at the pool so keep that in mind. Value is a plus; I’m used to spending ~150-300/mo for other premium/lux gyms and I feel what they charge is very fair. Also a barber in the gym is great and they have quality cuts. Cons: Their billing department is deficient, I’ve never had a issue with a gym not being able to schedule recurring charges, and it seems they have been unable to properly due so. The $150 sign up fee that gets rolled over into credit to use at the gym, it took two months for it to get added into the barber account. I had to follow up about it several times to make that happen. Very frustrating and not a very luxurious feeling to have to deal with that as a new member. Each month billing cycle roles around and i ask them (FD) if everything is squared away and they say yup/yes you're all good. Yet for the past two months in a row they contact me weeks after it’s due saying I have late fees and haven’t paid. Even when I’ve called and spoke to them each time on the phone after the first warning they still don’t properly process it and it ends up back after 10 days in a email; you have late fees, it’s very disappointing. I know they’re able to process my card; they’ve charged that same card “no show fees” when I’ve booked for the pool and it’s canceled due to rain. So it seems sus. It took about 3 weeks of my effort of calling, emailing and talking to the front desk to get that squared away to refund the “no show fee” when they closed the pool due to weather. In that process many emails were not answered. They did however eventually reverse the charges but it wasn’t easy and the communication was absent until finally getting ahold of the billing manager in person as she was taking out trash one day. She was very kind and apologizes and seemed to be the person who gets things done. If I were the owners I’d give her more tools or people to work in her department to make their billing staff efficient, or let someone else take out trash so she can better allocate her skills to where they’re most needed. The rude front desk manager in other posts is most likely John/Jon, he doesn’t listen to guests and always responds with attitude. I tried to review my account today and was met with “well maybe you should try paying your card so it doesn’t decline”, like dude I’ve never carried a balance, and when I paid it with the same card today in person there was no issue. I definitely did not appreciate his less than helpful personality. I would like this late fee reversed but I would happily pay $10 to not have to talk to John/Jon again. **Communication** Forget about trying to leave a message anywhere, inboxes are full at their billing specialists, pool inbox, everywhere on their phone tree. Emails aren’t answered, so your only chance to have them resolve any issue is in person, provided you find someone willing. Penthouse reservations; weekend slots for premium seating are booked quickly and often occupied primarily by their employees; seems sus. If you want a spot; set a alarm for 167.9 hours before you want it and immediately book when it changes to 168 hours, else lose your chance to vibe on a daybed or cabana on the weekend. In summary: it’s a good place and I’m sure they're doing the best they can during this pandemic, but boy it can be frustrating. If it gets better I’ll be sure to update this review. Best Rob

CrossFit DC: what do users think?

Gabrielle Ocker: Coach Amon was very welcoming and so friendly! The facilities were great and would recommend this gym to anyone dropping in :)

Samantha Taylor: I joined back in April of 2019 and I can't recommend this place enough. Being new to CrossFit I was really nervous starting out but the staff made me feel very comfortable and made sure to explain movements thoroughly. All the coaches are great and the facilities are really well kept. Great place to get a heaping helping of fitness.

Paula Tilson: I was brand new to CrossFit and started out at this gym with an intro class and then the elements class where you learn some of the basic movements used in classes. This gym has been absolutely wonderful! The coaches are amazing and really know what they are talking about. They give extremely helpful tips when you are doing the workouts and will critique your form to help you improve. The coaches also know when to push you more and help you achieve your goals. The workouts are always killer even if the main component is building strength in a specific lift, I have never left this gym not sweating. And the people here are some of the best motivators, workout buddies and friends. Everyone is extremely welcoming and pushing each other to improve regardless of if you are a beginner or experienced vet. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone whether you are wanting to try CrossFit, find a new gym or just drop in for a class. 10/10 would recommend!

Geoff Orazem: I'd been going to my building gym for a couple years and was hesitant to start paying to workout but I'm really glad I did. I'm working out harder and getting way more fitness per hour here than I was solo. CrossFit DC is super welcoming with great coaches and community. I'm cheap, but I'm also short on time and CF DC is totally worth it to me. Highly recommend

Martin JANDA: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityI have been visiting this box on U street for less than a month and I can only evaluate it positively. I would recommend it for the high professionalism of the coaches, good equipment, super wod programming and also a positive approach to visiting crossfitters.

Michael Zeltakalns: My experience is with the H Street location specifically. I only kept a membership here for two months and then moved on to a different gym because I didn't feel comfortable with their coaching staff. I'm relatively new to CrossFit which means I need movements explained. The staff here, nearly across the board, do not offer a description of their exercise, any demonstration of the movement, and barely any feedback. Whenever I asked what the exercise meant, across multiple coaches, I was met with exasperation. 'You don't KNOW what a kip swing is?" No, and I bet I'm not the only one in this group that would benefit from at least a cursory explaination. The instructors swarm to their friends and the guys lifting big weight, leaving new people to wiggle around without instruction. Then, in the same week, two of my friend injured themselves lifting here and I dropped my membership. It's not safe or enjoyable. I like my new gym a lot more. If you're great at CrossFit, the facilities are nice and you should drop in. If you're new, go elsewhere.

Dominik Mlinarevic: I came, they welcomed me, they coached me I PRd. It was a very good experience two coaches on 15 athletes for the weightlifting part even 3 coaches. Facility is super clean and the equipment is great. Coaching as mentioned was great and professional. Thanks to the team.!!!

Daniel In: The coaching staff here is amazing. They are very knowledgeable and provide great instruction to reduce the possibility of injuries as much as possible. The members here are friendly and enthusiastic. They also have all brand new equipment. After dropping it at other croasfit boxes across the country and across the workd, I realize just how amazing CrossFit DC is.

Jeffrey Neal: Healing my pre-existing injuries, safer than previous options, worth every penny! I was going to CrossFit classes for free at the local military bases. I dropped in on a class here, what a difference! I joined immediately, even though I have to now pay. I was new to CF, riddled with old injuries (not CF related), and was concerned I could easily add to my long list of pre-existing injuries. The quality of the coaching has prevented that from happening. Before each class they show the proper form and queues to use. They intervene when I'm not using correct form and show me how to make needed adjustments. They are helpful when I have questions. Seven years later and I'm the healthiest I've been since I can remember, overcoming many of my old, pre-existing injuries. I couldn't have imagined I'd have progressed this far and feel this good. So much gratitude for the coaching staff and community.

Mikhala McMasters: I started going to the gym in August and I love it! The coaches explain things well, are encouraging, and provide scaling options that make the workouts accessible.

Orangetheory Fitness: what do users think?

Sarah Beatty: Orangetheory is a great workout and this studio in particular is really clean, great equipment, and good coaches and staff

Miriam Ponciano: Positive: Professionalism, QualityThe trainers are highly skilled and trained. They challenge you and are supportive at the same time. Appreciate their enthusiasm, positivity, and dedication to ensuring we get a great work out every time. Highly recommend.

Austin Graff: I usually go to classes at the Orangetheory on Capitol Hill, but this location is near work so I stopped into a 4:15pm class on Wednesday. What I love about OTF is that each location is so on brand. It was the same experience I have at my home location from the friendly desk staff to the great instructors (shoutout to Abby!) to the music to the structure. The difference in this location is the space. It's bigger than the one on Capitol Hill (well, at least the set up makes it feel bigger). If you love intense, but doable workouts, this one is for you!

Amanda Chassé: It’s so nice to have a gym that I can visit on business trips. I enjoyed my time at this studio. Especially Coach Abbey who gave me the same attention and guidance as studio regulars. Great class, heading back today before I leave to head home.

Tommys Shinebox: The personalized attention and consideration of the customer are top notch. Super attitudes of all of the employees and a real dedicated and patient spirit from everyone. A+!

Pushker Mookim: Great workout, clean facility, friendly staff, I definitely recommend Sarah’s class.

MINT health club & studio- Dupont: what do users think?

Massimiliano Santini: Terrible experience. It's incredible how a gym that prides itself with being a family-run independent business close to the customers, and part of the neighborhood community, has taken advantage of one of his customer. Here is what happened. I requested to cancel my gym membership 7 days before the renewal date, as I had an emergency and would not have been able to use the gym on the following month. They told me they had a 10 days cancellation notice, that they would not exercise any flexibility, and that they would press on and charge me for the following month despite the fact that I was not going to be able to use the gym for a single day. I am extremely disappointed about this charge. When I first joined Mint a few months back, as a long-time Adams Morgan resident, I was really excited to become a member of a community of gym enthusiasts that support a local business. In particular, I trusted the flexibility and friendliness displayed on their advertising emails. You can only imagine my disappointment in seeing that as I faced an emergency, MINT did not display any sort of flexibility and common sense. My advice -- go to any other gym in the neighborhood and avoid MINT. When you need any flexibility, they will not be there for you.
Response: Hi Massimiliano - We are sincerely sorry that you feel this way. Our liberal cancelation policy does require 10 days' notice and is clearly stated in all agreement information. The standard notice period in the fitness industry is 30 days. To allow time for our team to process and to be fair and equitable to all of our other members we apply this policy across all memberships. We wish you the best as you navigate your family emergency.

R Adebowale: Great local gym. Small building but with all the modern equipment needed for a good workout. Nice front desk staff.

Lexie Barton: I love Mint!! I have been so impressed by their ability to pivot during the pandemic and create an environment that truly feels safe for everyone. I cancelled my gym membership before the pandemic at another gym and felt unsafe returning as I have an at-risk person at home, until I found Mint! Cannot say enough good things about the team and the facility. Thank you, Mint team! Also agree with the 2nd review below 👇 I’ve been during all times of the day and have never had an issue with any of my belongings. There is ample locker space with the ability to choose your own combination so you can secure your items. I’ve never seen or encountered any issues.
Response: Hi Lexie! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a thoughtful and kind review. We really appreciate it!

Kaelah Horwath: MINT is the BEST! All of the instructors are amazing and it is such a nice place to work out.

A MM: My partner's wallet was stolen from his LOCKED gym locker at this location (which occured due to MINT's bad practices). Other reviewers below who are not familiar with the situation mention that you can set your own combination and that the locker must have been unlocked, but the locker was locked and the below reviewers don't mention the quality of the locks/lockers are so poor that someone could break into it in a matter of minutes. Following the robbery, MINT has barely apologized and does not respond to his emails about the situation. As an update, 6+ weeks later, the issue still has not been resolved and there has been no communication from management despite multiple attempts to contact them. It's telling that management chooses to respond to positive reviews below, but blatantly ignores this one. Would not recommend this gym.

Amy Carmichael Smith: This has been a great gym so far. I signed up a couple of months ago and I splurged for the membership that allows me to sign up for any class which I highly recommend. I wish I had more time in my day to take advantage of them all! But it's great to just sign up, even at the last minute, for an awesome class. Most importantly, the people at Mint are fantastic. Really down to earth, helpful, and friendly. I'm really fortunate that this is my neighborhood gym.
Response: Hi Amy, We really appreciate you taking the time to leave us this amazing review! It's so great to hear that you're enjoying our classes and the MINT team. :-) We can't wait to see you in the gym again!

Nisha Singh: MINT has been adapting their virtual and in-person offerings to maximize client experience and safety, from the start of the pandemic. I used to go occasionally to in-person classes at the Dupont location and started going to the Power Playground classes once my virtual fitness routine got stale and the virtual platform, class format (no equipment necessary!), and instructors were so great that I ended up buying a class pack. It's been great to feel challenged again in a workout!
Response: Hi Nisha! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a great review. We're so happy to hear you're enjoying our virtual classes, especially Power Playground. We'll be sure to share the feedback with the team!

Blanca Badgett: Mint is fantastic! The variety of classes is great as I lack self structure when I try to workout alone. The instructors are very motivating and work with all skill levels. They all have a good knowledge base to modify workouts for people with injuries which I appreciate. They also have a child care, full amenity locker rooms, and a coffee machine. It is rather expensive for memberships so I would suggest using ClassPass to try it out before fully committing. Their memberships do also include the 14th St location!
Response: Hi Blanca! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us such a thoughtful review. We're happy to hear you enjoy our classes, instructors and amenities! Looking forward to seeing you in the gym. :-)

Connor O'Donnell: I joined Mint when they reopened after the pandemic and the gym has been fantastic. There is plenty of space and equipment that you aren't on top of other members when you're working out. Even before the pandemic Mint took cleanliness and sanitation very seriously and have ramped up their procedures even more so now. The best thing about the gym is the windows that wrap around the whole building so that its drenched in sunlight. Very different feeling when compared to the dungeon weight room of Sport and Health NW in Tenleytown.
Response: Thanks so much for your thoughtful review, Connor! We're so happy to hear that you're enjoying your workouts with us.

Mallika Thomas: Such a great place! Really nice to go to a local, family-owned gym that is really set on delivering great health and wellness to the local community! What I especially love are the outdoor classes that are being offered in the time of Covid. They are safe, in small groups, and outdoors! And I really need the exercise after having been inside for so many months! Thank you, especially to Lauren for offering a fantastic outdoor workout!
Response: Hi Mallika! Thank you so much for leaving us such a fantastic review. We'll be sure to pass the compliment on to Lauren.

Balance Gym Foggy Bottom: what do users think?

Nathan Wirt: I used to like this gym, but as of late we now have two defunct pieces of equipment that have been that way for 2 months. To me that would bring them down to two stars, but after not getting a response via email to the manager of the gym I have downgraded to one star. Additionally, along with the regular monthly membership fee there is a biannual “upgrade” charge that is intended to be used by polling the membership, determining what additional equipment membership would like to add, and then using said funds to buy that equipment. I haven’t been polled for this upgraded equipment in 2 years nor have have I seen this equipment. Starting to see echoes of WSC.
Response: Nathan- Thank you for the honest feedback and we're sorry things at slipped these past two. It's been a less than ideal situation given the pandemic which has compounded our ability to enhance, upgrade and staff our locations. The good news is we're set to renovate our locker room and replace some select equipment over the next month as business has been finally picking back up. We hope you stick around to see these upgrades and my apologies if management has been slow to respond as our manager is currently away on paternity leave.

Isaac Flath: Solid Gym - Exceptional Staff. Ms Dee is at the gym working the desk among other things in the early morning when I go and she is very professional, enthusiastic, friendly and helps me with anything I need immediately.

Briana Provost: Really enjoy coming to this gym. Everything is always very clean, and the staff are friendly. It can be a little tricky to find it since it’s entrance is through the Fairmont, but would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a gym in the DC area.
Response: Thanks for training with us Briana!

Eleanor Rollings: I have been part of this gym for over 10yrs - the leadership of the gym has created a community of fun, informative and welcoming. The coaches are smart, engaging and will always answer questions. Never once have I felt that the classes (CF included) were beyond me or that only the 'cool kids' could participate. Thank you Balance for changing my life!

Emily Porat: Great gym with even better staff! I went to this gym weekly for a little over two years and have been really happy with my experience overall. It’s a small but well-appointed gym. Lots of cardio machines, a pool, and plenty of lifting equipment - 1 bench press station, 3 squat racks, and 2 platforms (one that also has a squat rack). I mostly came here to lift in the mornings and it was never too crowded. I didn’t attend many group classes, but the ones I did were small (<6 people) and well-run! The cherry on top is the top-notch staff. Miss D at the front desk is so friendly and welcoming, as are all the trainers I’ve chatted with. I’m only leaving Balance because I’m moving, and I’ll honestly really miss it!
Response: Hi Emily! Thank you for your kind words and your loyalty over the past two years. We're sad to see you go, but wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. And don't hesitate to drop by for a lift next time you're in DC!

Tatia Jahan: Terrible customer service. have reached out multiple times regarding my billing and they only responded when it was convenient for them. Once they took a good chunk of money out of my account, they stopped responding to my emails regarding my membership cancellation. First time I even emailed them, I had to follow up a week later to even get a response. The second time, I had to follow up again, call in several times, and still no response. Although the facility is nice, it's really not worth it for it's price. $99/month for a tight squeezed gym facility??? Equinox just about a block away offers more for around the same price. Saw a response from Balance Gym to one of the reviews about how "hotel guests rave out how spacious it is" lol. They are on vacation so for a hotel gym yes the size is adequate. Those people are not working out there daily, for a member who is NOT just a temporary hotel guest the gym is not spacious at all. Also, one of the front desk staff members is super rude. She is very condescending and unhelpful. When I asked her to assist me with an issue, she gave me a rude look and very little information as if I'm paying $20/month. I payed even less than that at Planet Fitness and got way better customer service from their staff

K W: UPDATE as of 3/5/22: The locker situation is as bad as ever. It is common to try 10-15 lockers before finding one that will work. ********* I have been going to this gym for 2+ years. I have noticed the quality of the gym has been deteriorating a bit. In the ladies locker room, many of the lockers don't work. One night, I had to change lockers five times to find one that would lock. There are also only two traditional elliptical machines now...and a lot of new fancy cardio equipment that I have no idea how to use. The handles on one of the elliptical machines is worn, and feels like it will fall off soon. Otherwise, the front desk is always polite, the locker rooms are nice and clean, and the gym is pretty clean. Just hope they fix the women's locker room situation soon!
Response: Hey Kristina - Thanks for the longtime patronage and please know that we're planning a full locker room renovation before the end of this year. This will include all new floors and layout including a lounge area. We'll take a look at that elliptical and if there's any others things you notice that need attention please don't hesitate to notify our staff. Thanks!

Sarah Harmer: Every single staff member is so kind, friendly and helpful! The gym is always very clean and well maintained. I have never left a review before, but this place and the people deserve it :)

Adil R: Good customer service but boy what a basic gym this is. I was a member at foggy bottom location and I can say that I have seen hotel gyms bigger than this. This is a very small gym for the membership cost. Machines are always being used and this gym gets crowded. I wouldn't recommend joining this gym during Covid. People are literally on top of each other. Not safe at all.
Response: Adil, we are happy you had an opportunity to experience our "Best Gym in D.C ." Award winning customer service. More members and guests are feeling very comfortable coming back to the gym during this pandemic based on our safety protocols, so we have made some adjustments. You say the weight room has felt a bit "small" during high volume times. We have made the same observation, so we created an additional weight room to help keep physical distancing. Ironically, the Foggy Bottom location is a hotel gym as well. Hotel guests often comment on how spacious and nice our facility is. I would be happy to extend another chance for you to visit our gym, and see how safe we really are. - CJ Finlay Balance Gym Foggy Bottom

Hope Ajayi: Critical: Communication, ProfessionalismPoor and petty customer service. Pool not the cleanest. How one communicates to customers or potential customers is telling. Would never ever recommend membership —

1TO1 FITNESS - K Street Northwest: what do users think?

David Olive: Each trainer shows great care and attention to exercise details — even via Zoom. The trainers also share training information so that the customer has a customized training experience with certain strengths or limitations taken into account when conducting a session.
Response: Thanks David! Great job with your virtual workouts!

Dennis Horn: Well trained, personable trainers who motivate you to exercise. Also well equipped gym and remote training available. I have been training here forbyears and think this place is first rate
Response: Thank you Dennis! You’ve been working hard, keep it up!

KatherineTallmadge: I've been a client of the 1to1 personal training coaches for about 20 years. They have improved my health and life in multiple ways. Because they all have specialized college degrees an extraordinary training, I feel 100% confident I will only benefit without injuries. It also means I feel great referring my clients and friends. I trust them utterly. The training there kept me from back and knee surgeries as well. At 63 years old, I feel grateful that I have had the benefit. My budget is stretched having personal training, but I feel it's worth it. The alternative is scary. The cost of the numerous illnesses that occur when you're unhealthy is infinitely higher
Response: Thank you Katherine! We hope we can continue to work with you for the next 20 years!

Connie Tipton: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityOne to one helps me to stay in shape and keep moving - this improves my life immeasurably. Trainers are knowledgeable and great motivators!
Response: Thanks Connie! Keep up the great work!

Paul Khoury: I'm in better shape now than when the pandemic began. The trainers I've been working with remotely have kept my workouts varied, fun and challenging. I am indebted to 1 to 1 for a good part of my mental and physical well being during an otherwise difficult time.
Response: Thanks Paul! Great job continuing to exercise during the pandemic!

Jim Fleischer: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityI have been with them for over 30 years. They have maintained consistently top quality training, up-to-date information and techniques and a stellar attitude toward their clients and their business. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
Response: Thank you so much Jim! It means a lot to us that you've been with us for that long. Keep up the good work!

Richard Peyster: Great trainers and a great system that gives you the opportunity to work with multiple very highly qualified trainers. They can work with any age and any special needs.
Response: Thanks Richard! We are glad our system works for you!

Richard Hollander: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityGreat results. Increase in strength is substantial. Very responsive to adjusting exercise regimen to accommodate injuries. Very friendly.

Bench Gym Personal Training DC: what do users think?

Anna Reva: Bench Gym has the best personal trainers in DC!!! I have been exercising in this gym three times a week for almost a year and this is my personal record. I work with Jon Ponce and really enjoy his teaching style. He is very considerate, attentive and gentle. He makes a real effort to understand the priorities of each client and adjusts the exercises to their needs. For example, when I got a foot injury and was walking in a boot, Jon adapted my training routine so I could continue exercising without hurting the injured joint. I rarely leave reviews but feel like this place is a hidden gem. I really like the welcoming atmosphere, the variety of equipment and of course the creativity of the trainers. I would strongly recommend this place for people of all ages and abilities as the coaches are really good at creating individualized programs for their clients. In addition to Jon, I also worked with Dominic and liked his training style as well. The gym is conveniently located close to Dupont Circle and has flexible working hours.
Response: Thank you Anna. Your review is very honest and totally coming from your heart. We appreciate you sharing it.

Arne Zubeil: I love this place! I first went to Bench Gym Personal Training about 10 years ago and had the pleasure to train with both Jon Ponce and Dominic. Both of them certainly know what they are doing. They listen to what you want to achieve and then execute and deliver with customized training programs, dieting advice, and continuous encouragement and positive reinforcement. Bench Gym Personal Training is a wonderful and safe place for people of all walks of life who are ready to make a change in their lifestyle and who want to be part of a fitness family. Jon and Dominic have become close friends over the years and I certainly would not want to miss them.
Response: Thank you for sharing your review with us. We truly appreciate it. Keep up the good work!

Elizabeth Ricketts: Jon Ponce and Dominic are world-class personal trainers. They are caring and professional and know how to listen to your concern. It is truly a personalized service with a smile. The facility is well-equipped, so beautiful and clean. I totally recommend this place for personal training. Keep it up Bench Gym Personal Training, the best ever!!!

Thomas Steyer: My body has never looked this good until I enrolled at Bench Gym Personal Training in DC. Seriously, give this gym a call and get into the best shape of your life now with the help of the awesome personal trainers Jon ponce has.
Response: Thank you so much Thomas, we appreciate the accolades and will keep on striving to do our best.

Chayut Mathurapote: Bench gym is by far the best personal training facility in Washington DC. Doing abs with Dominic is a must, absolutely amazing!! Jon is a great personal trainer. He tailors the workout plans based on your needs and guides you through nutrition. He always pushes you during the training sessions and makes exercise both fun and productive. I highly recommend this quality personal training !!!
Response: Thank you Chayut for sharing your review with us. Appreciate it. See you!

Randy Jimenez: Best thing I did when looking for a personal trainer was to choose Jon Ponce at Bench Gym" Bench Gym Personal Training in DC is one of the best private gyms in Washington DC.
Response: Thanks Randy. I appreciate your feedback. Your goals are my goals. Your discipline equal result. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

Randdy Clari: Positive: ProfessionalismI've been feeling great thanks to the amazing personal trainers and people at this gym. I have gotten in shape and may be in better shape than ever. They really make you work but also have fun. I needed a trainer that will not only train me but also give motivation and advice. Love it here!
Response: Thank you clari for sharing your review with us. We are grateful and so rewarding! Cheers to the future and for achieving your fitness goals. "Our personal training gym with the best personal trainer in Washington DC will make your fitness dream become a reality."

Robert J.: I was a client of Bench Gym for over 10 years before leaving the DC area in December, 2020. While I have been to countless "big box" gyms in the past, I NEVER felt the sense of family, personal attention and professionalism that I felt while at Bench Gym. The place is contagious because not only do they care about your health and well-being, their professional style and expertise yields results. I worked out primarily with Dominic and Jon for all those years and despite not wanting to go on occasions, I knew I would feel better after spending time with them working out and seeking advice on healthy living. Since leaving D.C., I must say I do miss the gym and the people there. Change is hard. Making that personal fitness change for me was difficult but I know that there is someone else who took my spot there who will love and enjoy their quest for personal fitness and healthy living as much as I did. Kudos to BenchGym. You are MISSED.
Response: We appreciate sharing your review with us. Thank you Boss! Miss you!

Kevin Massey: I can't recommend Bench Gym enough. Jon and Dominic are great attentive trainers, equipped with everything you could want for a good workout, and they work with you to execute your fitness goals. I had absolutely no previous background in sports, weightlifting, fitness, or diets, but knew I needed to lose some weight post COVID quarantine. So far, I've lost over 20lbs since working with them and they've been nothing but helpful and encouraging. Highly recommend their gym for your next workout!
Response: Thank you Kevin. We appreciate sharing your review with us. We’re very grateful for clients like you and hope you stick with us for years to come! Our personal training gym with the best personal trainer in Washington DC will make your fitness dream become a reality.

Jack Mizerak: A true full service, one stop shop for your athletic needs. I have used bench gym for several years and have nothing but positive feedback. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, designing personal plans as my fitness goals have changed. No hesitation in providing an enthusiastic recommendation.
Response: Thank you Jack for sharing your review with us. We are grateful and so rewarding! Cheers to the future and for achieving your fitness goals. "Our personal training gym with the best personal trainer in Washington DC will make your fitness dream become a reality."

Equinox Sports Club Washington, D.C.: what do users think?

Daniel Caroe: Almost at the end of my year membership and will not be renewing simply due to the customer service. In my experience, a good amount of the staff are hard to work with and even snobby at times and its takes multiple calls and requests to get anything changed on my account. Here are a few examples of the troubles I have had: 1) I called twice over the summer to freeze my membership for a few months while I was travelling. They said this would not be a problem and that they would do it.......I called a third time about month later to find out that they did not freeze it and were still charging me. When I told them about the first two times I called, they said they had no recollection of this happening. Kinda a waste of money for me in that case. 2) I was having some trouble with my personal training scheduling and called to get in contact with the PT Manager. I called multiple times over the course of a week and each time they told me he was busy. They assured me I would get a call back from him but this call never came. (kinda annoying he could not take the time for maybe a 15min conversation) 3) I had to cancel a PT session due to illness (strep) which they said meant I would not be charged a cancellation fee for my session. They definitely still charged me, and again, it was impossible to get into contact with the PT manager. Overall, it's a great facility but I find the staff to be pretty inadequate and kinda rude (namely a front desk person named Shaniya and one of the club managers named Dwayne). I loved my trainer Evan (highly recommend) but in the end, I feel like I could get what I need at another gym with a nicer staff.
Response: Hi Daniel, we are very sorry to hear about this experience. It's definitely not what we like to hear. Please connect with us at concierge@equinox.com. We'd love to get additional details regarding this matter and investigate, allowing us to work towards making improvements going forward. Please be sure to mention your review so we can address quickly.

David Gershman: Today I signed up and had a great experience. Mike, in membership, not only showed me around- they answered every question with full clarity, gave me far more insight than I expected, and was simply very nice and sweet. I knew I was going to get a membership going in, but it’s nice to get warmth and comfort instantly upon arrival. Felt like I was one of the regular folks
Response: Hi David, thanks for the 5 stars!

June Wade: Scheduled a spa massage for my friend’s birthday at the Ritz Carlton/ Equinox (Foggy Bottom) location. The staff was courteous and the gym was clean. I was disappointed the spa does not offer champagne or snacks for special occasions, instead we were given “swag bags” full of gym advertisements and trinkets. If you’re not a guest at the hotel, arriving early is highly recommended (parking, etc). Must walk outside to enter Equinox since elevator access to spa is for guest only. My massage therapist was (Donna) friendly, courteous but chatty. I was not interested in talking about where I live, hearing comments about my “poor”elbows🙄 or asking why my shoulders were so tight during my 80 minute massage. Unfortunately , the massage was not good (technique). Ambiance was fair in the room, there was no soothing music or waterfall fountains, just dim lights, and a cool quiet room. The warm bed with robes was a nice perk. Not a fan of the massage lotion (dry paste) used, she had to continuously spend time stepping away from the massage to reapply. I’m giving this spa 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️since my girlfriend had a positive experience with her masseuse. In addition, they provided a quiet space and champagne glasses for us to enjoy our BYOB champagne post massage. Would not recommend, lacks luxury for the price. $500+ ( 2 people)

Lauren Arquette: As all the other reviews said, horrible customer service. The club itself is fine, but don't try to bring a guest and don't try to cancel the membership because it's impossible and no one responds. I was a member for all of a week and tried to quit because I was told when signing up a guest of mine could come if I gave them that guests info. Gave them my guests info- they never put it in the system and turned them away at the door without even trying to investigate the problem/track down the person who gave my guest the ok. Was also told they hard certain equipment for rent when they didn't. If this was a planet fitness I wouldn't complain, but this is a $200+/month club that markets itself as elite. Nothing is elite about their customer service. Per the customer agreement you get 15 days to cancel and get a refund- tried emailing the manager for my refund, tried calling the concierge and nothing yet. I'd love to know if they actually even answer the emails they get when they respond to these complaints "sorry to hear about your experience! contact us as at..."
Response: Hi Lauren, please connect with us at Concierge@equinox.com. We would love to get additional details that led to this review so we can investigate closely. We would be happy to discuss this matter with you further if you'd like to share additional feedback. Please be sure to mention your review so we can address quickly.

TPMT Associates: Love it here as usual - they take care of the place and most importantly, the people who works out here take care of the place and is clean and tidy and doesn’t trash the place. As usual, it’s the people who come to gyms that are the messy/dirty and this place doesn’t have those ppl - not that I saw anyways!
Response: Thank you for reviewing!

John Heinemann: You get what you pay for. This gym doesn’t make sense for everyone, no one is a better person for going here, and a free gym in an apartment building is going to do 90% of what Equinox does. But the other 10%? I actually look forward to working out more when there’s both a sauna and a steam room, a saltwater pool, luxury bath products, memory foam floors for stretching, and refrigerators full of Eucalyptus infused face towels. I go for the amenities, and then I just decide to work out because I’m already there.
Response: Thanks for the 5 stars, John! Glad to hear you are enjoying our amenities.

Lena Fleischmann: Lots of amenities (pool, basketball court, steam room, sauna, soulcyle bikes...), good customer service, they constantly make improvements by adding products in the changing rooms like razors, hair ties, curling irons etc. What I don't like about it (apart from the price obviously): it's pretty much packed no matter what time you go which is annoying - wish they had a gadget in the app that would tell you how busy it is beforehand. Also, showers aren't always very clean.

Izabella Ritz: The club has a pool with saltwater which is very convenient, covid safety is great, the thing why I didn't join is no natural lights in a building, which is very important for me personally.
Response: Hi Izabella, we appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your experience. Thank you for the 5 stars and we will be sure to escalate your feedback to the appropriate teams.

Gelila Sebhatu: I called to inquiry about membership packages and I found the sales rep, Erica, a little rude and she did not directly answer my questions, which was irritating. Based on the reviews here, I’m not surprised I received this type of experience. I guess I’ll be looking elsewhere. I just wanted a nearby pool 🏊‍♀️
Response: Hi Gelila, we are sorry to hear you had this experience. We hope that you will give us another shot to show you we are capable of better service.

Ebony Williams: Do not work at equinox if you have living situation or just a situation period the manger Duane don’t care if you have living situation problems he even told one of the employees that mid shift is childish because we all going through something sorry if you hired people who have living situation or who gave problems and be careful of the Towels and hand towels they wash them in hot water only no solution that why the towels look a little dirty Yess I use to work their and got fired because I was trying to find a place to stay the days I called out because I was homeless the cleaning manger is horrible at his job and HR needs to send a Secret Santana to see how they clean the place

Pure Barre: what do users think?

Mary Claire Tansill: Highly recommend if you're looking for a challenging, low impact workout that will make you feel both mentally and physically strong after every class. Also, teachers and staff are very friendly and will answer any questions you have!
Response: Thank you for the kind words Mary Claire! We are so grateful for the opportunity to support your mental and physical health. Congratulations on completing 250 classes! We'll be cheering you on to your next milestone and beyond.

sara agostini: Great workouts, instructors and staff. The staff in particular has been very patient, accommodating and understanding besides being very professional and kind. When I had troubled with the app or I had to reschedule, they called and offered help and solutions so I wouldn’t miss workouts or lose credits. The workout is awesome too, I just want to highlight their great customer care. Highly recommended!
Response: Hi Sara, Thank you for your positive feedback! Our team loves supporting our community and we're thrilled to hear that you are enjoying your experience at Pure Barre DC. See you at the barre soon!

Rebekah Hoshiko: I tried a variety of workout classes, including spin, yoga, and HIIT, but never enjoyed any of them until I began Pure Barre. It's the perfect intensity level, and I always leave a workout feeling challenged but not exhausted. I'm also training for a race and barre has been an excellent cross-training routine, especially in the winter when it's tough to get outside. All the Pure Barre instructors are friendly and encouraging, and I can't recommend it highly enough!

Lindsey Ellertson: I get migraines if I do any workouts that are too high impact, so have never been great at working out consistently. I decided to give Pure Barre a chance and so far I love it! It works all the areas of my body I want to tone without the high impact of other classes I’ve taken. I’ve been 5 times and it hasn’t triggered my migraines. This studio is great and I love all the instructors so far. They are really welcoming to new comers and are great at helping with form to get the most of the work out. I will definitely keep coming back!

Catherine Rodgers: Pure Barre is the highest quality barre studio around. I have tried multiple barre studios in the DC area and and Pure Barre is by far the best and most effective. The staff is extremely friendly and are always willing to go above and beyond to help you have the best experience in each class. Each instructor makes an effort help you learn the right techniques. I have been attending a littler over one month now and I can already see results. I have so enjoyed my experience with this studio and I look forward to many more classes!

Jenee Sharon: Pure Barre Dupont is the best! The classes are a challenging but fun workout, the studio is always clean, and most of all, their staff is friendly and attentive. They really make an effort to remember your name and motivate you individually during classes, which gives it a community feel. I have been coming to this studio for over a year and I keep coming back because it’s the best barre workout and they keep it different each class. Definitely encourage you to try it out, it’s worth the time and money.

Calli Obern: I love going to Pure Barre - it’s low-impact and incredibly challenging, and you feel great walking out. I appreciate that the instructors always know your name and are attentive to make sure your form is correct so you don’t hurt yourself and so you get the best workout. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to try barre. I also love the carpeting, which feels gentle on your body.

Naomi LaChance: Love Pure Barre! A great full-body workout that really pushes you to your limit. The instructors are super welcoming and encouraging, and they are great about making sure your technique is right during each of the movements. I love that the instructors take the time to learn everyone's names in class! A really fun, rewarding class that flies by.

Jenna Friedberg: I've loved coming to Pure Barre so far! The instructors are so helpful and knowledgeable, and it's been great to have such qualified teachers especially because I'm a beginner. They take the time to learn your name, and are always so eager to help you make the most of the workout. Plus this studio is really close to the DuPont Metro, which makes it super convenient! Love this place, will definitely keep going!

Florie Mendiola: The staff and instructors are friendly and motivating. They make it a point to know your name and they make me feel welcomed. The classes are always challenging and the instructors are thoughtful about guiding you to get the most out of your experience. The place is clean and inviting. I appreciate the ease and efficient flow of each experience from signing up for classes, reminder emails, option to cancel classes, quick in and out is mindful of each members time. I would absolutely recommend pure barre D.C. I leave every class feeling supported and accomplished.

Orangetheory Fitness: what do users think?

Ananya Yadav: Maddie is really wonderful instructor, she always checks in on you and makes sure she gets your name, which is encouraging and really motivating. I especially enjoy her classes. The rest of the instructors are largely impersonal and focused on just doing the job- last week I was stitching up really bad to the point that I had to leave and the instructor that saw me go out didn't ask, nor give me any advice on how to help ease it. Overall, the gym is nice and the classes are fun, my workouts are never the same which keeps things interesting. Lastly, there is no attention to spacing during COVID. I have been to some other gyms who try to keep gaps between stations if the class isn't full, but there is little to no care for that here, which can be frustrating.

Chris Collins: The Good: location is pretty close to everything, and it is one of the few studios in DC. Coach Maddie, Kyle, Fara, and Jade are really awesome, if you have the chance, you should definitely take a class with them! The Bad: TLDR: Do not take a class with Lena - or take it at your OWN RISK OF INJURY. She is just unprofessional. While she is friendly, she just cannot act within a coach's capacity - Typically other coaches would demonstrate each workout to the class, she does not. She would just blandly "explain" the exercise and point to the video demonstrations. On top of that, she cannot keep track of time - which is important when you run for 3 minutes at push pace or 2 minutes at base pace - She told us to go at base pace when she has already told us to go at base pace one minute ago... honestly keeping track of time should not be this hard. Adding to these - she does not correct people's postures during the workout. I saw someone in my class with bad postures that could literally hurt herself - but Lena did nothing and just kept repeating " good job everyone" "great XXX(insert movement names)" - which add on to my fear that someone could really get hurt themselves as a result. Overall, you will probably be better off by just watching a workout video online than taking (and PAYING) for a class with Lena - she is worse than a workout video with timer - at lease these videos would get the time right and provide more supportive comments.

Abby Roskind: The reason I'm writing this review is because they have truly bad customer service. In addition, the classes are boring and poorly run. By mistake, I purchased a 20 class pass instead of just one class to try out the classes again for the first time since the pandemic. I hated the class and knew I wouldn't be interested in taking any more. They refused to give a refund. There are so many other good, effective fitness classes in DC. Save yourself the time, headache, and money and go to literally anywhere else.

Alexa Franzese: I work at OTF in long island and tried to call this studio multiple times in regards to one of their members wanting to cancel with that studio because she moved out of that state and wanted to join here. The customer service was horrible. They were very rude and not helpful at all. When I called the first time and asked my question they told me they would call me back. They never did so I followed up with them the next day. I'm guessing the assistant studio manager answered and she talked to me with an attitude, questioned my concern and asked "Didn't you call yesterday?" I said yes and no one gave me a direct answer so I was just following up so I could pass the information on to your member. She said "Is that all?" I said yes and then she hung up on me. If that displays how they treat their members there, I would not recommend.

Tom Nicocelli: Coach Meaghan was great! I usually go to Orange Theory Tysons Corner, but last week had an opportunity to take a class at Orange Theory West End. Great class in terms of energy level and positivity. Keep it up, folks!

Aída Romero: Great studio, the instructors are awesome and helpful and meet you where you are at. I only wish they had one more evening class, but other than that it’s perfect!

Binny Bing: I have called this location three times since last week to process my cancellation and it still sitting in the queue untouched. I also requested a receipt for previous transactions and that still, is to no avail. For some reason the management here can’t process two very basic requests in regards to doing business. I’m never again signing up for their overpriced classes and rude staff members.

Viera Crawford: This place’s customer service is terrible went in to get a tour of the facility to hopefully become a member. The staff treated me really snobby bad vibes and wouldn’t fully show me around or give me any information on prices until I took the free class. Schedules a free class but my car broke down so I had to cancel. They CHARGED MY CARD FOR A “FREE” CLASS 15$ even though I canceled hours before . Won’t be coming back ever.

Joe Brennan: I signed up for a membership here having never taken a class before as a way to cross-train while running and have really enjoyed the classes, staff, coaches, and the studio. I had always hated the treadmill, since I would prefer running outside. But, the treadmill "blocks" are challenging and help me train in different ways than I normally would. I enjoy the class format where I show up and know that I am getting in a good exercise regardless of whether it's a Power, Endurance, Strength, or Combination day. The staff is very friendly when you check-in. They also run a number of fun one-offs to help engage you and make you feel apart of the studio. From selling out a 5:15am class to funky sock Fridays, they help keep the energy. The coaches drive the class and make the workouts fun and enjoyable. They make a point to get to know you, so you're not alone. Even if you go to a class by yourself, they are there with you on your PR days and challenging days. The studio is great. This location opened in May 2018 and has a couple nice amenities. The floor section is completely padded, which means you do not need a mat to protect your knees from the hard floor. The studio also provides sweat towels to use and the showers are clean.

Alexa Secrest: OrangeTheory workouts will intimidate, challenge, and exhaust you. Do not let this deter you from joining. Through the nerves, sweat, and soreness, you will emerge anew, with both a stronger physical and mental state.

Total Source Fitness: what do users think?

Hannah: Updating my review after a few months of coming here as a guest. I have found more appreciation for this gym than the gym I belong to. I’ve never had to wait for any equipment here. They have everything you’d need. Never too packed. Still leaks in places is the only thing. Has been consistent $10 since last review. Would join this gym if I lived closer. Lots of gym equipment & heavy weights. Perfect for big dudes who lifting is their passion or small guys who want to get big 💪🏽. Only bad thing is leaks everywhere (Buckets pictured). Cold in the winter. Cost of bringing guests changes every time based on who’s working. $10 to $20 per visit. This place has a lot of potential but needs a little work.
Response: I’m very sorry you feel the way you do and we wish you well as you locate a nice cozy gym to fit your needs But to be clear this gym, our gym caters to those serious workout enthusiast who could care less about cold or heat because they are there to workout with a multitude of tools we provide that far exceeds any gym within a 10 mile radius. We are proud to be able to say that with certainty. Our gym is HARDCORE not designed for those who kinda lift or are cardio driven We are in a warehouse for that reason we post banners on the wall also for that reason to indicate to YOU and all who enter we are not here to be comfortable your hear to get results in a (uncomfortable) environment that is old school and rustic thus once again we are in a warehouse for that purpose. Now If you where even a member which I’m not sure of, but if you where thank you for your business, but I’m certain when you walked in it’s clear it’s a warehouse and if you required a more cozy environment there was a planet fitness not 2 miles up New York ave that has all the comfortable things you clearly require in your non warehouse style gym. We have retained 65% of our members for over 6yrs primarily because of the very things you complained about and they are super loyal patrons thus on there behalf I felt the need to address you because you dishonor people who love this type of gym and would have it no other way but what TSF is. Now with a few exceptions I agree with you on a few of your points which are already being addressed prior to your review All in all this gym is not for the latte enthusiasts or the guy or gal who wants a massage and hot tube after there workout, this is not the clientele we pursue although we welcome all who look to challenge themselves to achieve greatness We have a very reasonable price for the super stocked amount of gym equipment we provide and we understand our position in the gym community there are gyms that charge you $10 or $20 bucks or on the high end there are gyms that charges $180 monthly but you can’t deadlift or drop weights you can’t dress the way you choose and a list of other do not does. We allow our members to have at it and be themselves in a challenging environment because that’s what it takes if you are serious about getting fit and we encourage and support that thought process There will always be some privileged folks that you can’t satisfy and such is life and we understand that but we also understand that some people are entitled in certain instances and feel the need to try and discredit others when they can simply go ware they feel more comfortable or never use the facility in the first place In closing Mam we wish you well and hope you look around before joining your next gym to be certain it’s what you are looking for prior to joining so you don’t have to leave a flawed review on that business because it doesn’t fit your needs. Now I guest the plot thickens and we are getting some clarity on these last couple of reviews so we looked up your acct and you haven’t been a member since 9//12/2021 so interesting that you post a review in January and it looks like you entered the gym without having a membership on 12/20/2021 at 8:12pm so why where you here in December what was your business if you was no longer a member ? I guest this is a plot or hit job to attempt to destroy a Black owned local business who has been a solid part of our community for almost a decade write ? Quite sad but not surprising

Cam Frasier: I love this gym. Close by and has all the equipment you need to get at it. This is a no frills gym. Just open space and tons of equipment. I go with my fiance to work out together and she is also a fan. She typically works with aerobic, alternative bands, and ropes. I definitely recommend this gym to people who are serious about getting fit!

Andrew Meehan: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityThis is the best gym in dc. It's a no nonsense, no frills gym that has everything you need. Having lived in DC for over the past decade and trained at Golds, WSC, Vida, and Equinox, Total Source stands apart. It doesn't cost an arm and a leg and has a great community. Strongly recommend for anyone in the NE/NW area.

Denice Socha: The gym and prices are ok. My issue was with a trainer. I enrolled in a CrossFit class, I got sick and had to miss a couple of sessions, when I came back he gave me the silent treatment. What are we, 10? Refused to instruct me or include me in any group. This was a while back, hopefully he’s gone. In response to your comment: Yes, it was a while ago. I’m planning to return to the area this summer and recalled this negative experience when I came across your gym. I am not aware of your contracting policies but that was my personal experience. Good luck with your business in 2022. And for the record, I love the small black owned businesses that I frequent.
Response: Denise I’m sorry to hear this but are you sure you have the correct gym we don’t offer a CrossFit class here at total Source Fitness as trainers are independent and running there own business just using our gym. not to say you didn’t have this experience but the appropriate business to give a 1star review is the trainers business that you worked with not TSF But in the interest of investigating further can you please email me direct who you trained with and the time of day your session’s where so I can find out who you are speaking of Follow up Mam after doing a internal investigation you haven’t been a member here at Total Source Fitness since March of 2019, which now begs the question what is your underlying motivation for leaving a one star review in 2022 three years later and the review was clearly for a independent trainer who worked out of the location but yet you reviewed the gym knowing it could impact a small black owned business in a negative way ? I’m kinda confused but please clarify and if I can help you with any concerns because you plan to rejoin and wanted to know if your past trainer was still here or not, because of your bad experience. I’ll be glad to address your concerns although they are quite old at this point If you do decide to join us when you move back to this area, as the owner of the gym, I’m very accessible. Feel free to reach out to me. As you know as a former member of TSF, we have a very diversified customer base and it’s extremely rare to hear something like this. However, every customer old or new is important here at TSF and if you have a problem at my gym, I will personally see to it that the problem is addressed. Thank you for your patronage and we wish well in 2022 as well.

Bryan Cash: Stay away. You will be fighting fraud for months dealing with them. Somebody giving good reviews here is lying. I canceled and they still continue to charge my card. I went in person and the person told me I owe them money. If a person misses a payment for a monthly service, you revoke service you don’t accrue charges for a service they wouldn’t be able to use. Then won’t let you cancel until you make that up which is ridiculous. I wouldn’t be able to use the gym if I walked in but still have to continue to pay you? The lady in the front was completely hostile when i was trying to cancel and REFUSED to cancel my service. Completely shady billing practices and will commit fraud against you. Look at their YELP reviews. Somebody even said they used their card during Christmas. Ridiculous business.

Iryna F: I really like this gym, not crowded, all needed equipment and very close to my home. Nice customer service! Recommend!

Connor Davenport: I genuinely don't understand how such a great opportunity for a gym with this great location could have so much wasted potential, and how the rating is so great here. Holes in the ceiling everywhere forces the staff to put out buckets everywhere when it rains. half of the barbells are unusable due to wear, bending, rust and improper care. Inadequate bathroom necessities. (they "don't do paper towels" and offer no way to dry your hands other than to use cleaning rags.) 85+ degree temperatures in the gym. Floor mats splitting at dangerous locations in the squat racks and around the facility. Imbalanced weights at many of the machines. Calling this a "no frills" gym is not an excuse to let the facility literally fall apart. For $70 a month, this doesn't even come close to meeting the bare minimum of what someone pays that amount for. Topping this off, canceling your membership is not guaranteed because apparently employees do not actually know how the process works. It's appalling.

H Stepat: This is a great gym! I'm only leaving because I'm moving, but this gym has all the essentials. If you're into lifting heavy, training agility, and no frills gym experience, this is the one for you. Inexpensive too compared to some of the other DC gyms and Kent, the owner, really works with you. I was actually overcharged for a couple months and when I brought it up with Kent, he worked to make sure I was compensated in cash for the overcharge and inconvenience too. He made sure I was taken of.

Gerald Regep: I love this gym, hands down. When i moved to DC I looked for a place that was affordable, within walking distance, and had the equipment i needed to stay in shape. Total Source gave me just that. Total Source Fitness is run and owned by Kent, a straight up dude who never fails to ask you how you’re doin. I’ve seen some comments that suggest that TSF is poorly run and a low-quality gym. In my experience, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Kent has been straightforward with me since i first joined the gym. I had an issue where my membership was charged twice in one month, an accident he fixed after I spoke with him. The correction took a week or two, but he made it right and was transparent with me the whole way through. Sometimes things take time with computers and logistics. As long as you’re straight with him, he’ll take care of you. Love this place.

Josten Forsythe: If you’re looking for a gym to get an actual workout in, then Total Source Fitness is the place. With seven squat racks and a bunch of benches, I’ve never waited for a lift. While it’s definitely no frills, the regulars know their way around a gym, making it easy to move around and get work in. What’s more, Kent, the owner, gave me a break on my initiation fee because I’d only be in town for a month. Definitely give Total Source Fitness a try if you’re in town.

Gold's Gym - Cap Hill: what do users think?

Sergio Guerrero: This gym is pretty good, on my visit it was clean and with many options for machines and free weights to help you get your best workout.
Response: Thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re so glad you've had a great experience at one of our DC Metro locations! We'd love to hear from you -- Please feel free to reach out to our Member Experience team (memberexperience@goldsgymdcmetro.com) with any further comments, feedback, or suggestions!

xiomara sahle: I’ve been going here a week now.Staff is very friendly and people are there doing their exercise routine.Located side by side of the Federal Center metro.Once you get inside it’s the kind of place that you can focus on a vibrant workout.I love the AM time that suits my style. After a while I’ve gotten use to seeing the regular gym members.Positive vibes thus far.

Jahtay Teh: It's a mediocre gym, but there isn't enough space for the number of people that regularly workout there and they need an upgrade. The staff is very kind though!

Hafeez Giwa: Mediocre Service - Beware of Thieves!: Imagine finishing your workout, going back to your locker, and finding your padlock broken and wallet missing. That’s exactly what happened to me at Capitol Hill Gold's Gym on 26 Dec 2021. Front Desk's response was "we are not liable for theft" and "you are the second person that reported this today"... not encouraged by the indifference of the team. Particularly frustrating as I am visiting; having to freeze your cards and get replacements when you are thousands of miles from home is PAINFUL... Word to the wise...stay away
Response: Thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations. Please feel free to reach out to our Member Experience team (memberexperience@goldsgymdcmetro.com) with any further comments, concerns, or suggestions you wish to share. We would love to hear from you!

Wanda Wright: I went online and signed up for a free 3-day pass to see if I would like the gym, the staff, and its vibe before joining. I moved back to DC and was looking for something closer to home. On Sat 11/6/21 I spoke with someone name Kit or Kitty and asked if I could come in and try out the gym. She asked if I had a DC license and I told her I still had my MD license, and hadn't had the chance to transfer it to DC. This person told me that I could not get a free pass with the use of my MD license, but I could immediately sign up and buy membership with my MD license. This was stupid and made no sense! This DC location is WACK!

Erik Schafer: With 4 squat racks, this gym has made an effort to get as much useful equipment in a their space as possible. While lacking in some "nice to have" specialized equipment (standing calf raise, plate loaded hip thrust, glute ham raise) they have all the bases covered (machine press, row, leg extensions, leg curl, seated calf raise, and more), a few nice specialized machines (e.g. lat raise machine, hip abduction/adduction, etc.) a fair selection of plate loaded upper body machines, and plenty of pulley machines. They have a wide selection of dumbbell weights (there's one dusty rack of 110+ dumbbells, not sure how high they go), pre loaded straight and ez barbells, and preacher stations and plenty of adjustable benches. For upper body barbell work they have 4 flat benches, one incline, and one decline, which is pretty nice. They have a tBar row for plate loaded rows and they have a hinge for a barbell so you can do rows or landmine presses. There are two Smith machines, which is 2 too many imo 😅 but in case that's your thing, they're often empty. This gym really does put in a lot of effort to be useful, maximize their space, and as a result has a lot of capacity and lower wait times than you might expect. The staff are nice and friendly too. The bathrooms are clean. The facilities include showers and a dry sauna. It would be nice to get a plate loaded hip thrust machine, the one weak spot for this gym is no real posterior chain isolation work. It's really not easy to find space (or enough padding!!) to do real BB hip thrust. It would also be nice to get a longer "lane" for lunges or farmers carries, but space is a limitation here already. I think they really deserve 5 stars because of the emphasis they've made on building a useful space, with as many squat racks and benches as can reasonably fit.

Julie Wolf Kato: This gym has an abundance of equipment. It's in a convenient location and right off the Federal Center SW metro. It's also spotlessly clean.

Tanium T: The gym is too small for the number of members. I might come back if they open another in DC

Sam: Awesome gym - high quality equipment, nice staff, good amenities (towels, sauna, clean lockers and restrooms), free validated parking (for most hours of the day), and good vibes from fellow trainers. You get 90% of what Vida/Equinox offers for 25% the cost.

Dana: This is my home gym when I'm in town for business. Overall the place is clean, and we'll maintained. I've been going there for about 6 months now and other then a couple of treadmills all the equipment is maintained is good working order. It can get a bit crowded during peak times, but thats to be expected.. especially on universal chest day. The staff that run the front end are always, friendly and professional, they really do a good job. From what I've seen the greet everyone and say goodbye when they leave. Really great customer service. Overall, great place to workout.
