Clothes Encounters DC: what do users think?

Libby Gill: Love, love, love the range of items and the personal styling help I receive every time I visit Clothes Encounters. As both a customer and a consigner, I'm so happy buying and selling there. I just splurged on a gorgeous fox coat and I couldn't be more pleased with the shopping experience, the coat and the price!
Response: Thank you Libby!!!!

Colleen Dougherty: Went in for the first time and left with three amazing dresses. Shopping as a person bordering plus and straight sizes can be tricky at best when shopping at stores that have regular stock, let alone consignment but I popped in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful as you browse. The shop is adorable and has a great range of styles and sizes. The jewelry counter was especially fantastic and I can't wait to stop by again!

Abbey Linsk: This place is a gem! I stop by whenever I can to see what they have. They carry great brands -- everything from J.Crew to St. John! I got a classic red Burberry dress from here for just $80! Store is clean and employees are just lovely!

Shefa Ahsan: Rather lovely experience. I happened to have some time on me and walked inside simply to browse. I've been to many second hand clothing stores but there's a warmth and hospitality in this place as soon as you're greeted at the door. Customer service is 10/10. Friendly conversations all around, so many regulars, and if you're new (like me) they leave you feeling like you need to come back asap. With regards to the actual store, they are the most organized, I had no problem finding my size. Everything was so clean and the prices were so reasonable. I left with 4 pieces from Ann Taylor and J.Crew for the price of one T-shirt at either of those stores. (But they also had a variet of styles to fit all kinds of preferences). I didn't intent to buy anything, but the selection, the kindness, and the overall experience gave me alot more than the pieces I left with. I don't even write reviews but I knew I had to for this place and the lovely ladies who own/work there.
Response: Thank you Shefa, your review means the world to us!!!

Bart Zwaard: A wonderful store staffed by lovely people. There is always something fantastic to find in this consignment shop. I love their jewelry selection and it is my go to spot for finding gifts for my wife. Everyone at the counter is so helpful and they really take the time to help find the perfect item you are looking for.
Response: Thank you!!! We love helping people find the perfect gift!!

Rajni Rao: Favorite second hand store in the district! I have found items at all price points that are in exceptional condition. There's a broad enough range to appeal to all tastes, and these ladies really treat customers like family. Stop in if you're a vintage fiend!
Response: Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Valerie Sans: This is my absolute favorite consignment shop to shop at in the district. They always have incredible items, if you're willing to "treasure hunt". Prices are very reasonable given the quality and brand names that they carry (Stuart Weitzman, Burberry, Gucci, Theory, Helmut Lang to name a few). The owner is very pleasant and helpful towards shoppers. Unfortunately the owner's kindness does not apply towards sellers. I've brought in many (high quality, brand name) items for their consideration, only to be insulted. I absolutely understand that not every item will be accepted, but it is entirely unnecessary to insult the seller. I have been on the receiving end of many rude, snide remarks about how out of style my items are. Again, it's totally fine to decline a seller's items, but a simple "no" pile would suffice. This is what other consignment shops in the area do. I was also mocked for going in to collect a small amount (<$10) that was on my account with a comment like "I guess every dollar counts, huh". In the future, I will just donate my clothing or sell on Poshmark to avoid being insulted by the owner here again. There are a few reviews that echo this sentiment, and I urge the owner to take note. After all, you need people to donate their clothes in order to be a viable business. TLDR: great experience as a buyer, unpleasant experience as a seller
Response: Valerie - I cannot tell you how sorry I am and how much I cannot remember any part of the exchange you describe. I cannot recall ever saying 'every dollar counts' to someone collecting a payout. I agree it would be hugely insulting, and that it is never ever my wish to be disrespectful or insulting to anyone. I have said 'every dollar counts' when people apply their account balance for store credit though, because $10 off a purchase can really make a difference, and even if it is $10.00 that does decrease the bottom line. Customers love hearing the total owed is decreased by the money they've accumulated selling their clothes. We used to take a little of everything before Covid hit. We could cast a much wider net before we needed to maintain a 5 person maximum capacity in the shop. Truth be told, we don't think we'll get back to whatever the new 'normal' will be until there are more people inside the store than those waiting to get in. We're happy to do this during the pandemic to help keep everyone safe, but this filters down to what we can and cannot take for consignment. Most consignors do want to know why we reject their clothes. Therefore I offer an explanation to help them adjust what they bring in the next time. Your point is well taken, I will ask people if they want guidance to understand why we reject one item and take another. To streamline the process we suggest consignors email some photos of their consignment, it saves time and prevents unnecessary trips to the shop. If you ever want to give us a second chance, this option might work really well. Most important though I sincerely apologize for making you feel badly in our store. This is not okay and I promise to avoid a repeat. Clothes Encounters is usually such a happy place, we take an enormous amount of pride in this, it is a part of core to be kind, welcoming and respectful to all. We love our community, our consignors, our shoppers, our location, the market -- everything and everyone. I am sorry you had a bad experience with us and wish you all the best in future. Gail

Julia Beatty: This place is truly a gem in the middle of the Eastern Market area. They have a huge variety of consignment items in wonderful shape, lots to browse! On my first visit there, I found a pair of Cole Haan nude flats for only $10! Will definitely be back to shop again soon.
Response: Thank you so much Julia!!! Enjoy your cute shoes!!!

Karen Petersen Finch Whitworth University: I try to stop by here once a week. I have made great finds for reasonable prices! There is a range available from designer down to more basic (Clark’s shoes for 20.00). The buyers have a great sense of quality and style. Merchandise moves through more quickly than in some small stores. But best of all are the women who work and shop there. They lift my spirits every time.
Response: Thank you!!!!

Deb B: Great store! I often consign there and usually get a fair price for my items. Gayle and her team are always very nice although they get busy during certain hours. I have found a lot of really unique items there I will treasure forever. Like any other consignment store sometimes inventory is amazing, and other times it’s just OK. But that’s the reason to keep going back.
Response: Thank you Deb B - weekends can be very busy - and we always wish we had more dressing rooms!!!

Secondi Inc: what do users think?

Jasmin Hollywood: Maybe someone else's cup of tea or tequila or maybe too rich... LoL so I really tried to find something that I liked or wanted to buy that was used for $40&up but just couldn't. It was a cute little neat location and ALL their employees were really kind to me.
Response: Hello Jasmin, Thank you for visiting our shop and for your review! We're sorry we didn't have what you were looking for this time, but we welcome new items all day long--hopefully next time we will have the perfect thing for you! Have a lovely summer! Secondi

Sophie Jylan: My first time going to a consignment shop, and i had a great time! Everything was organized and there was a great selection of clothes and accessories. The shop was very cute, and i loved the feel of the small second story shop. Fitting rooms are open too. Prices are reasonable and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely be making this a regular stop in the future.
Response: Thank you for your review Sophie! We wish you a wonderful summer! Secondi

Angela: I love the set-up it's a cute spot, and I wasn't ready to walk up the stairs to get in to the boutique. It was organized, the staff was very informative, and I'm not from here so the prices where higher than where I'm from. Other than that it's a treasure it does have high-end Variety Appreall, And they are in good condition.
Response: Hello Angela, Thank you for your kind words, your review made our day! We hope you come back soon for another visit! Have a great summer, Secondi

V W: I’ve been a long time customer of this establishment. Sadly, I shall not return. I experienced suboptimal customer service in the earshot of management. When I approached management to remedy the situation, I was unapologetically told that the staff member’s words were justified, “It was in the hearing and not the saying.” I don’t need an interpreter. I hear you loud and clear. Preemptive accusations and dismissing my perspective as a customer are simply unacceptable.
Response: Hello VW, We're sorry to hear you didn't have an enjoyable experience at Secondi, but we thank you for your feedback. We acknowledge that while we try to offer excellent customer service at all times, there is always room for improvement and will work among the staff to make sure this doesn't happen again. We wish you a wonderful summer season, Secondi

Leslie Williston: this place was nice but more expensive than i thought. i am more the type for cheap thrift stores so this wasn’t my jam. it was clean and well organized.
Response: Hello Leslie, Thank you for your feedback! We do our best to make sure the shop is clean and organized so your kind words mean a lot to us. We are sorry to hear you didn't have success on your shopping quest with us, but we hope you come back soon! Have a great summer, Secondi

Pook Trinh: They do have nice items, some of them are reasonably priced. However, the service is not great in comparison to similar businesses in the area. They have a deal whenever you spent more than $500 in one transaction, you will get $25 coupon to use next visit within the next 3 months. I found out after I just spent about $440, any efficient employee/merchant would have suggested a customer to spend some more to get $25 coupon. If the customer said no, nothing to loose, but failing to do so, it’s a loose-loose situation. I left unhappy, they could have get me to buy some more today, and the next time I come back to use the $25 coupon I’d would spend more then, as well. I guess they don’t really care since they already have lots of business going on. Several years ago, the owner/manager with her old team were much more friendly, but the new team are ok, doing their job ok, no more no less.
Response: Hello Pook, Thank you for your feedback! We do our best to respond quickly to reviews, however Google didn't notify us of yours and so we apologize for the delay. I understand about the 500 Club Card, and we will do our best to make this more well-known to customers in the future. Our goal is to never push customers into spending more money, but I can see how us telling you about the 500 Club Card would have been welcome information. We hope you visit us again soon, and in the meantime have a wonderful summer! Secondi

Alyssa Cooper: This place is the single best thrift/consignment shop I’ve ever visited. They carry a variety of designer and high-quality pieces. Go early in the morning when the shop first opens for the best selection and service…it’s gets super busy on weekends and evenings.

Lori Penix: I stumbled on this store while traveling from Los Angeles. I absolutely LOVE this place. Great items at prices that work well for me. I will keep in touch. ❤️
Response: Thank you for your kind words. Your review made our day! We look forward to seeing you in the future. Thank you, Secondi

Maya Mosley: They sell a lot of broken clothing and accessories (completely broken that you cannot wear) for a “luxury consignment” store, and do not allow returns. Watch what you buy.
Response: Hello Maya, Thank you for your feedback. We do our best to make sure all items are in excellent condition before we put them out on the floor or mark them as-is if the wear or marks are very minor, but we acknowledge that we occasionally may miss damage when we first accept an item. If you notice an item that is not in its best condition, please feel free to bring it to our attention so we can pull it off our sales floor! Thank you, and have a great summer, Secondi

Andrea Za: I really checking out the latest fashions at this place. It's clean. For the most part the staff is friendly and attentive. A fun place to shop in DC.
Response: Thank you for your feedback Andrea, we're sorry we missed it until now! We hope you have a great summer, Secondi

Current Boutique: what do users think?

Lauren Hoffman: Great consignment shop! Have only visited to shop, not to sell, but am very impressed by the quality and curation of clothing within. Also appreciate that they organize by size and have abundant, well-lit fitting rooms. Wish they had more accessories and jewelry, and found that they had something like a 10:1 ratio of tops to bottoms, which was odd? But really fun to browse.
Response: Laura - thanks so much for shopping with us and posting a review. Yes, curating our pieces is a BIG deal for us and we believe it helps our shoppers find exactly what they're looking for. Also, we're always on the hunt for great accessories and we have a hard time keeping them around when we get them. Check back again soon as new gems arrive daily. Take care ~ Carmen

Marisa N: This shop has a great selection. Their stock ranges from trendy fast fashion to high quality designer. The quality ranges from a clearly used items (likely selling because of the brand name) to brand new with tags. The prices are fair (not a steal, but fair). They charge more than your average thrift shop because their inventory is better than your average thrift shop. The price range seemed to be about $40-$80 per item, with some lower priced fast fashion items ($15- $30) and some expensive designer items ($100 - $200) mixed in. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my experience & will return!
Response: Awesome! Thanks so much for your review Marisa. Stop back soon - Carmen

Katherine Koehler: This is a great consignment shop. The inventory changes frequently, sometimes I don't find anything and other times I find tons! Also it's very easy to sell with them. Highly recommend.
Response: Katherine - thanks so much for the review. We work hard to keep the inventory fresh and current. Stop back again soon! ❤️ Carmen

Gemma Ni: I consigned several items here and I regret doing so. It has been almost 4 months but none of my item was sold, including a pair of Eileen Fisher pants, a silk scarf and a necklace. All in pretty good condition. I started to read reviews online and realized they donate unsold items fairly quickly. I simply don’t want my designer pieces to be donated. If I knew the sales didn’t move, I would never choose Current Boutique. Even if set the slow sales aside, I am also suspicious of the check-offline-status-online business mode. Unlike the completely online consignment, the status of store sales cannot be monitored. I don’t know if no one buys them or it is payout delay.
Response: Gemma - thanks for reaching out and providing your feedback. For starters, please make sure you have access to your online account to check item status and receive updates. If you need help accessing your account, please contact us at https://currentboutique.com/pages/customer-service. I checked your account and you are correct that your pieces have not moved yet. We hope to move your three items shortly and will continue to attempt to sell them on your behalf. Take care - Carmen

Natalia: UPDATE: The store manager reached out to me to address my concerns and updated me on when my items would be posted. They said the wait was about 2-3 weeks for items to get logged into the system. Updating my review rating because I appreciated the communication and clarity. UPDATE: It's been over two weeks since I brought my items in, and I don't see my items listed for sale on my account. Not sure what the status is since they should be listed by now. Getting a bit worried and this feels a bit sketch. Had a positive experience both selling and buying here. Great selection of designer clothing and bags. They were very clear about what the selling process is like & were able to answer all my questions. They don't allow you to reclaim your clothing after the 90 day window but they do try to sell at a lower price before donating it.
Response: Hi Natalia! I'm thrilled to hear about your awesome time at our DC store. Thanks so much for taking the time to post a review. Carmen

Stacy Walker: The girls there are all super sweet and helpful! I go in probably once a month, but didn't have too much luck until today! Found some great pieces and had a good time talking. Thanks so much!
Response: Stacy - I always say to check back often because new gems arrive daily! So so happy you were able to find some great pieces on your last trip. Hope to see you again soon. ❤️❤️❤️ Carmen

Marie Eichholtzer (Marieichho): Great to have a second hand shop with current brands and not only vintage clothes. Always great finds.
Response: Marie - love the review! Having a current, curated selection is why I started CB 16 years ago. Please come back again soon. Take care ~ Carmen

A S: Did not honor their own refund policy.

Jason Vieira: Totally overpriced. Charging $16 for SHEIN tops that are literally $4 brand new. Not consignment. You won’t be saving money here
Response: Jason - thanks for sharing your experience. We are constantly reviewing our pricing to ensure the best value for our customers and highest return for our consignors. We'll take a look... Take care ~ Carmen

Kia Johnson: During a recent stop, my first ever visit at the store, I walked in and was informed the store has a policy of keeping shopping bags at the front counter. I hesitantly walked to the counter to check my bags from other stores then was told they also needed to hold my handbag behind the counter. I have never been asked to surrender my handbag to a stranger to hold while I shop at any store, much less a consignment store. I told her that was a step too far and retrieved my other bag and left the store. Another associate told me it was very common for stores to hold bags and handbags. I have never, and will not never surrender my purse to shop. The irony is they don’t trust me to shop without stealing items, but I should trust them to hold my handbag. This was my first and last visit.
Response: Kia - thanks so much for visiting the store. Thanks also for your honest review. We are truly sorry to make you feel uncomfortable. That was not our intent. Since we reopened our stores, we have been beset with shoplifting attempts. Due to social distancing, to keep our staff safe we've instituted the policy regarding large bags behind the counter. The policy is universal and applied to all customers. We are aware some shoppers are not comfortable with this policy but until conditions change we must err in the direction of staff safety. COVID-19 has been super tough on us. We need customers like you to survive. We hope you'll give us a second shot. Thanks - Carmen

Frugalista: what do users think?

Jazsmine Armstrong: The store is very nicely organized and the staff acknowledged me when I walked in. The prices are a bit on the higher side for a thrift store, but this is DC after all! The clothing and shoes were typical clothing you'd find at a chain store and in relatively good condition. If you need something affordable for work or an interview this would definitely be a place to check out. But if you're looking for something unique or cool to add to your closet, I'd try elsewhere.

Blessing Okafor: Amazingly cute items for a pretty reasonable price!!! I bought 11 items for about $75, and that included sweaters (many are currently discounted for $4.99 + tax each) and a cute pair of Marc Fisher sandals. Highly recommend to check out!!

Leslie Williston: Good place for some good finds! Pretty cheap clothes. In a basement so it kind of looks fake but i promise it’s real. employees were really friendly.

Kenna K: I've probably spent hundreds of dollars here. And with that money, I've bought a completely new wardrobe for work, nights out, special occasions, loungewear, daytime, etc. I've taken all my friends here on multiple occasions. The deals are unbelievable and the quality and variety are amazing. I would give 10 stars out of 5 if I had the opportunity. Highly highly recommend!
Response: 🙌

P B: I love Frugalista - satisfies my “shoppy” urge and I can’t even calculate the money I’ve saved. Very little is beyond $20. Not that it’s so important lately, but I’ve gotten a lot of really good quality work clothing especially there! Also found a lot of great Boden clothing, which makes me happy. Plus every single pair of shorts I own, from nicer ones to super casual (all $7)! And the people who work there are also really nice.
Response: 🙌🏽

robert witherspoon: Love this place, if you take your time and look carefully you can find some real treasures at decent prices, they haven't jacked up everything like a lot of vintage / thrift stores have these days in the area

Crystal Banks: Cool name but Based on that name I thought I would be getting variety and a deal. Nope. I paid $10 for 3 T-shirts. My favorite thrift store shirts are $1- $3. One shirt here is $4.99 + tax 😒 Everything was just drab. There were some prom dresses and lots of mens clothes and dress shoes. Ultimately, this is a pricey thrift store the size of a DC (city) basement. With matching DC parking for a business😥 I feel like I got duped but I was the one who wanted to "check it out". The staff speaks mostly Spanish but did greet me kindly when I came in. There are fitting rooms and a seamstress. Oddly, for a second hand store, they were accepting unwanted pantry foods but... It was all sitting in a box right outside the store🤔🙄🙃

Tristana Fiscella: Fun spacious second hand store that you can get lost in for an hour or two listening to the radio. Bring a tape measure and hone in on measurements, cut and color instead of Brand hype and Size label madness. NOT a thrift store and the prices reflect that. They pay rent, employees and keep on keeping on after many years in the neighborhood. Besides, you may come across practical, well-made clothing at a reasonable price or at the very least walk out smug & virtuous, w. your Green Fashion ideals fulfilled for the day.
Response: 🙌🏽

Will Stephens: Frugalista is my favorite clothing shop in all of DC! It's a very warm and friendly place. The prices are good, and they curate the second-hand items very well. I don't think I've bought clothes anywhere else for several years now. I've gotten men's pants, jeans, workout clothes, sweaters, dress shirts, shoes, winter coats, spring/rain jackets, belts, and casual clothes there since first discovering it about 4-5 years ago. You can go there to find things you need, or just browse and definitely find something you like. The joke in our family is that we go in looking for something in particular for my wife, but then I'm the one that walks out with 5 things. The same folks have been running the shop for years. They recently moved a couple doors south on Mt. Pleasant Ave, but they are still in the first floor of the same big building. And they are open during Covid, with safety precautions. Please go check them out!

Keri Panatier: Fun small thrift store! Many great finds - coats, shoes, accessories

Rosario's Thrift Store: what do users think?

Nara McCray: I go here often, and have found some great finds. $1 rack is everything. I will find dark clothes and experiment with reverse tie dying with bleach. They have changing rooms so it's great to be able to try things on. Please wash IMMEDIATELY after buying, I found clothing moths in store ( an egg sack embedded in a skirt I was trying on) and had an infestation in my closet after shopping here regularly for a few months.

Erica: The store had several racks claiming that they were three for 10. When we attempted to check out they tried to charge us four times the price for each of the items. Claiming that they had prices on them and therefore we're not part of the sale. Very misleading.

Jace Warble: Misleading signs caused us to pick up three items that according to the sign should have been $10 they instead tried to charge us about $13 a piece. Will definitely not be going back again. And I don't recommend you go either unless you're directly looking for the $1 rack.

Brighid Rose: I didn't realize before that this was a thrift store. From the outside it looks like maybe a budget place to buy new clothes. But don't be misled like me! This place is an amazing gem of a thrift store!! Such great selection, brands and unique finds. Great prices too!! So cute! I'm going to tell all my friends, and I will be back!

Liliana Angulo: This store is HIDDEN GEM!!! A lot of name brands for great prices. They have awesome deals! $1 apiece racks and 3 pieces for $10 racks. I got a pair of like-new Vince Camuto wedges for just $3!!! They are very welcoming and friendly. They even greet repeat customers by their names. Highly recommended!!!

Amy Lawson: They only arrange garments by type, but not by size. Everything is all mixed together, so prepare to waste a lot of your time while you dig through the racks looking for your size. There are good quality brands due to the kinds of labels donated by the locals. Vince Camuto, Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg were some of the labels I saw today.

Lolita Brogsdale: My first time coming there....it was nice...clean and organized. I will be back again soon. You now have yourself a new customer....thank yoy for your customer service and your gratitude😊

Hangda Zhang: [Updated] Just went recently. The owner is friendly and this place has a lot of clothes at affordable price. Make sure not to go last minute because this area doesn’t get much foot traffic and at the first time I went there the shop closed 30 minutes before the time listed on Google

Laur Tiv: I love Rosarios! They have some amazing brands like Tory Burch, lots of J. Crew, Vince Camuto, etc. I’ve found some amazing things there. Rosario herself is super nice and lethargic why I’m posting. Would love to keep her in business during these times of Covid! The only draw back to this store is that it’s small and you have to find on-street parking which can be difficult (it’s 16th st) but otherwise this is a hidden gem in DC!

Kristen Jarvis: I went in looking for a cheap top for a themed party (which I got for $1) & came out with a Columbia rainjacket and Patagonia fleece (for $25 total!). I was amazed at some of the brands & selection.

Prime Thrift Georgia Avenue: what do users think?

Kim Reyes: Great finds the other day when they had 3 tag colors 50% off! I snagged five jackets, a skirt and one long 100% wool coat barely worn all for $30. There are treasures hidden within the racks!
Response: Thank you for your review!

Karina Baumblit: The people who work at the store are wonderful. Always willing to help and very accommodating. They have a nice verity for a small store and it is vell maintained.
Response: Thank you for your review!

Vanessa L Jackson: Great day for students with 25 percent off on Tuesday and Thursday. Return policy is reasonable 7 days with receipt, and prime thrift members earn points use phone number to join Points adds to dollars off of next purchases. Good selection of coats and MENS wear. Large variety of plus size and plus size petite. My secret to stylish name brand dressing. Had a good shopping experience. Staff friendly prices clearly marked social distancing and mask required.
Response: Thank you for your review!

Donovan Phelps: This store has a lot of good quality items available and at really good prices
Response: Thank you for your review!

Lashonda Steward: There is always something going on in this store but I had to post this complaint. I stood line for at least five minutes. I watched three people walk past the line and went straight to the cashier posted. She looked at me and served the three ladies instead of sending them to the back of the line. The store was packed. I reported the incident to the manager and his response was "so what". I told him it wasn't fair for all of us who waited and followed the rules. His response was " I can't do nothing." He didn't even bother to tell customers that they should wait to be called. I'm know for sure I can donate and purchases stuff from other store. People shouldn't cry foul when they are committing the foul!!!

Blaque Love: Recently visited this lost gem that was super organized and well managed, but unfortunately I became frustrated by the style chosen to hang the clothes. Instead of the clothes organized by size as it used to be, they now just lazily hang them all together. I ended up leaving out pure frustration without purchasing anything. Super disappointed.

Summer Brouwer: Found a lot of great items here! The employees are very friendly, both in English and español :)
Response: Thank you for your review!

Danyelle Lamb: This was my first time went there. The store was clean, organized & very affordable.. The associates are nice & definitely coming back😁
Response: Thank you for your review!

Ben Riddlebarger: Too crowded and dirty. Everything smells like burnt sausage.
Response: We are sorry to hear about your experience. Thank you for your feedback

Chef Minh: Used to be a good store. But not any more, it’s a mess. Not things organized, sometimes you found 2 different prices marked on the same Item.
Response: Thank you for your feedback. We have sent this to our team! Thanks.

Remix Recycling Co.: what do users think?

Henrry Palacios: Visited this store for the first time today and had a great experience! Staff is very friendly and the option of clothes was great. I was able to purchase two pants at a reasonable price and both were in great condition!

Maddie A.: Do NOT come here if you are looking for a large inventory or are in search of places to thrift. There are several other stores (such as REDDz) within a mile with much larger inventory and friendlier staff. When I tried to ask the owner (presumably) a genuine question about sales policies in the store, he answered my question in a manner so flip that it suggested I had asked him the most obvious thing ever. Additionally, this is not the place to be if you are looking for cleanliness. The store has a roaming cat and my mother had to step out after a couple minutes due to a reaction; there are other obvious signs of pet filth about. TLDR: this place is not worth your time no matter who you are.

Sherri LaRowe: Neat shop. Support a long-time local biz like this and score inexpensive deals that your closet will love. Its hard not to leave without something each time I visit. Just got a brand new Lilly Pulitzer dress (original tags still on it read $188) for $42. And a brand new Ann Taylor light pink work and fun appropriate skirt for $12 (still had original tags too!).

Sarah Kramer: Although it’s a small store, they always have a great selection of both gently-used and new apparel and fabulous inexpensive jewelry. Today I found five spring dresses, an unworn pair of heels, and new earrings for an unbeatable price. This place is leagues above Poshmark and online consignment stores.

Nick Eddy: Been going to remix about once a month since well before the move to the current location. I've bought men's office, casual, and athletic wear over the years. The owner buys only quality items, has good taste, and charges very reasonable prices. A Bethesda gem.

Sharon: Went last week, it’s a small place but I feel that the selection is pretty good, especially for cute crops and jeans (compared to platos). I got some nike leggings for $8. I couldn’t find too much in my size (pants I’m about a 10-12 and I’m on the larger side). The people working were nice and checked up on us! Overall would recommend if you’re looking to find some thrifted pieces. (You apparently can sell your items here)

Amanda S: I’ve never had a pleasant experience at this store in the few times I’ve been over the course of 5 years. Racist, and unkind owner.

Jordana Coronel: I had an appointment today at 5pm and I was rudely stopped by a sign that was written on a backwards envelope stating that they had an emergency. Unfortunately they had TWO missed UPS notices since yesterday on their door! So not only did the store not notify me of this emergency today but has had TWO days to notify and cancel appointments for this "EMERGENCY" lasting two days. This was the worst first impression I have ever had. Please have the courtesy to tell your customers that you will be CLOSED till further notice. I would have saved on GAS and TIME.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our business. A medical emergency prevented us from being open for a period of several days. I didn't have anyone who could run the store in my absence so I had to close for several days. I would have done things differently if I had the personnel to run the shop in my absence. Sincerely, Derek Kennedy

ks ks: Seem that the quality and service (new owners?) has changed. Much better at previous location. The guy was very rude about not wanting the items (didn’t even look at labels) which were 100% better than the offerings at the store - unappealing and very disorganized. Needs an upgrade and better service.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our store. Sincerely, Derek Kennedy

Izzy Gieser: Remix has a incredible selection of designer brands at a really affordable price. My friend bought two pairs of leggings for $22. The people are super friendly and there’s even a store cat named Sushi. I am thoroughly satisfied with my experience shopping here and would definitely come here again in the future.

Christ Child Opportunity Shop: what do users think?

Kurt LaRose MSW LCSW LICSW: The antiques and the finds here are wonderful. The staff, volunteers, care so much about the items. Here I am reminded of my grandparents dishes, jewelry, paintings, dishes, silver, metalurgy, pocket watches, rugs .... and the iron statutes are just phenomenal. Today I found a 10k gold rosary engraved from 1924 ... with a historical attention to detail that is awesome. The people working in the store celebrate the items as you look.
Response: Thank you Kurt! We're so glad we were able to help you find some beautiful items!

rebecca leigh: A lovely store with beautiful things. Sometimes a bit pricey. The service is excellent and warm.

Sandra Biedron: Wow. Great place for vintage jewelry and everything else one needs for a home or office. Not only is everything repurposed but all proceeds go to children in the area that need help meeting their emotional needs. Found four rare Portmeirion pottery pieces as well as two pieces of vintage high-end jewelry. These were very fairly priced with the market. Excellent collection of dishes, silver, and crystal. Go there instead of doing a wedding registry! So much more green! Rock on Opportunity Shop - you made my heart happy today seeing things re-purposed! The place was packed!

Eric Rajendra: The best antique and bric-a-brac store in all of DC. Our family in Georgetown has given thousands of dollars worth in contributions of our own antiques we no longer needed and then we bought thousands of dollars more in antiques we needed!! This place is a gem for us Washingtonians!! The volunteer staff members are truly precious and really dedicated!! They love their work and make the entire experience of browsing a joy. The second floor has great stuff so GO UP!! Jewelry, silverware, Asian antiques, porcelain, etc! You won’t be disappointed. You need to return weekly as new consignments and donations come all the time!! Trust me.
Response: Thank you so much, Eric!

Sam Bartley: This place looks amazing. And everything is very nice. But this place is no thrift store. Almost everything here is consignment and the prices can be outrageous. If you're looking for a place to get fine decor and fine bone china (and you're willing to pay hundreds of dollars for it) this is the place. But if you're a student or a person that has anything called a budget restricting you, don't come here.
Response: Thank you for the feedback, Sam. We now host flash sales on Mondays on our Facebook and Instagram. 20% off select items from a range of different prices. You might find some treasures on there!

Randolph Lopez: Question the authenticity of the antiques and antiquities. Do not be misled. I was foolish enough to believe the descriptions that were displayed on the Asian pieces and the purity of some silver pieces that I purchased. I am not a seasoned collector. I only depend on the honesty of people; especially those associated with a “Christian” charity.

Tom Preston: Prices are too high, often higher than the antiques shops in the neighborhood. No bargains unfortunately. And reductions are not per standard consignment shops- only 20% every 60 days instead of every 30 days. Not sure how they stay in business TBH.
Response: Thanks for the feedback, Tom. We host flash sales on our Instagram and Facebook every Monday with 20% off select items. You may find some bargains there!

A. Greenough Dodd: Huge fan of this nonprofit consignment shop (aka The "Op Shop"!) that benefits the needs of DC area children. Always great finds, but definitely allow time to peruse the many items. Well-worth the search!
Response: Thanks for the kind words! We now have a Facebook and Instagram page where we highlight and feature different items. That may help you find some treasures! And yes we love our customers and their support of our mission of helping local mothers and babies in need!

Angela Van: Clean and organized decor consignment purchase structure (can see how the price drops by date). Always find something when I go in. Unfortunately, they just re-organized downstairs so the bulk is upstairs--no elevator.

Jonathan Fuhrman: Nice place for antiques. Everything has a date it came in and gets marked down every month. Prices are a bit high, but not outrageous.

Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store: what do users think?

Reanna Rousseau: I have to say very disrespectful management at this location. The staff was lovely and helpful but the short light skin women manager with the face piercings, with her mask underneath her nose gave me the worst experience I have ever had at goodwill. Her regional needs to have her replaced ASAP. You can’t make your own rules at your store that’s not in policy. You can get fired for things like that and she must be reported. This is a store where they take free items and mark them up for “Goodwill” to sell to the people in the community who can’t afford the regular priced items. If you are over pricing the item you are basically doing a disservice to the community.

Lea Sumlin: On. April 30. A beautiful morning. I decided to donate things, I don't need. My family and I went to the South Dakota location. When we got there, a light skin colored girl with glasses as the manager was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL We did not get a Good Morning. She WAS VERY UNPLEASANT with her Approach. "We're not open yet, did you hear me and we line up over here. I never opened my mouth but after her unprofessional way of speaking. I ask, " do you WORK here. "Am the manager". She is NOT MANAGER PROFESSIONAL. We left. I Googled Salvation Army on Kenilworth Ave. They were open and VERY PROFESSIONAL AS WELL. THANKS SALVATION ARMY. We were very happy when we got there and after we left.💯❤️❤️❤️.

Zh Ie: Purchased online from this location. The staff was amazing on checking the condition of the item after purchase, and as an added service on their end, they sent a few extra close-ups even after I had purchased, which was not necessary, but so appreciated that they thought to do that. Above and beyond service, and extremely customer-service oriented.

Andrew Patricio: Bizarre. Don't bother going here to donate anything except kitchen stuff or toys, (except baby toys they won't take). On the website it says they take clothes, furniture, etc and they used to but no longer for some reason. Any even toys they won't take anything "a baby can sit in". Ie no bounce toys, push bike etc. Wasted my time twice in a row. Never again. Just go down the road to salvation army or even better, the value village thrift store.

Kim Barr: I found some lovely things there the staff was very helpful and definitely check out the colors of the week sales. I was able to get a 15.99 suit for 3.99 because of the colors of the week sale.

Team World: Caĺled them numerous times over several weeks for pick up of lots of veey good clothes and furniture. I am leaving the country. They never called back.- couldnt be bothered apparently. SHAME on you, Goodwilll, aren't you supposed to serve the disenfranchised????

Janice Burrell: Called and asked if they accept books. The guy told me they did. When I got there the guy told me they were at their capacity for books. It was more like he didn't want to do the work to check them in. Every time I go there it is always a problem. They should tell you these things when you call. Since they don't I can only conclude that it's just a lazy employee. Extremely poor customer service.

solomon asefaw: I am writing this review to let Goodwill undermines its gools when it doesn't follow up its workers at the receiving and dropping gate of this location. Today at around 3:35pm when I came to donate, I was harassed by one Of the stuff at the gate. Goodwill should place professional stuff at the dropp of gate before it too late.

Franklin Owens III: I was there for clothing… but I can never pick out clothing in a thrift store, so I left with books. The store was well organized though. I tend to be a bit uncomfortable buying items out of thrift stores. I didn’t care much for the clothes. But there were other items in the home section were really nice. Everyone was nice in the thrift store. Even when I gathered a cart full of books and then realized I couldn’t use my clothing voucher on books😬😅

bluslushii: Been to multiple Goodwills, the staff was by far the most helpful and I honestly received the best customer service I did at any business. Definitely will be returning! Thank you so much ladies for being so kind and helpful!

Fia's Fabulous Finds: what do users think?

Anna Sumner: My friend found this place in the DCist's Top Thift Stores article. Unfortunately the article was from 2016 so many of the places listed were no more. Fia's was one one of the few exceptions. We pulled up around 3 in the afternoon unaware that the store had switched over to appointment only for in-person shopping. The lady working at the time kindly let us in since there was an hour until the next appointment. Their inventory was fantastic, if a little disorganized. The layout has been converted more to a warehouse than a sales floor. The store is also transitioning into online sales. As things turned out the kind lady who let us in to shop was the owner herself. She explained the appointment-only policy and told us we could text the store number to make future appointments. It felt good to have been able to support a local, black woman-owned shop, especially after going through the list of stores that weren't able to stay open. On the inventory: I found a lot of good pieces in my size which made me very happy. I'm on the curvier side and I'd definitely recommend this place for plus sized fashionistas. I saw very few items for men and children so you might not want to do family shopping here.

carolyn jackson: I love this boutique. Fia the owner is very nice and sweet. I love her basement grab bag. It a lot of fun. It like playing a game.😁😊

Edward Parsons: My wife and I had a chance to visit FFF and was surprised to find that the store has a $35 full a bag sale next week. The clothes are in good condition and reasonably priced.

Julia Near and Far: Fia's Fabulous Finds had a great selection of cute dresses and footwear. In the basement was $25 for everything you could fit into a bag.

Alex Chapman: I had a lovely visit at Fia's Fabulous Finds today. You have to book a private appointment now to shop and Fia was there herself to describe each room of the store for me. It's a warehouse setup, so you get to move and dive into the racks yourself to find amazing deals. Lots of Kate Spade purses and clothes, with some other brands mixed in. A wide range of sizes too, which is great! 3.3.21: Fia is no longer allowing in-store shopping outside of a once per month opportunity. Check the Facebook page for future updates.

Cassia Morris: My boyfriend and I stopped in Fia’s 2.5 years ago or so to find some items for a costume. I can’t remember the owners name, but she was THE sweetest, nicest, and most helpful!!! We talked about where her son was going to school. We live in Alaska and I still think about our visit here. I hope the owner is well and the shop is doing good!!! Much love.

Eugene Simms: Fia's Fabulous Finds is a phenomenal experience waiting to be discovered! I walked in on a Sunday, and was warmly greeted by associate, Sharon. She told me, to my amazement that Fia's offers sizes 0-3x, a rarity for a consignment shop. They have such great quality clothing, shoes, bags and accessories and at affordable prices. I purchased a silk Escada skirt for $25!! Also, check out their Bargain Basement for some unbelievable deals. A beautiful experience from start to finish.

Clark Flynt-Barr: This place is packed! Lots of good finds - always fun to shop here.

Madeline Desser: This place is such a gem with a great selection of higher end brands. The space is fairly small, but it manages to feel full without feeling overly crowded or messy. There is a separate rack dedicated to plus size clothing which is amazing and rare to find in high end consignment shops. Fia has a great eye for stylish pieces and is super friendly too so don't be shy and check the place out if you want to find some great deals!

Symea Johnson: Stopped by for the “fill a bag for $25” event. I had to control myself because I could of stayed all day and shifted thru all the bins and racks for clothing. Fia was actually present and her and the staff are genuinely good people All positive vibes in the air! Check her out you will not be disappointed 13items including dresses, skirts, purses and jacket all rolled in one bag for $25🎉

Unique: what do users think?

Kim P: Great place to shop! Two stores in one, lots to choose from. Prices can be little high and staff is no where to be found for questions. Apart from that, it’s worth checking out!

S B: OMG... the UNBEARABLE STINCH in the restroom made me vomit! The restrooms in both stores were EXTREMELY FILTHY! SMH! An unforgettable experience.

Mary Cooley: Extremely packed on Saturdays. 4/5 for cleanliness and organization. 2/5 for prices, as stated in other reviews the prices are that of a consignment boutique and not a thrift store. The employees are kind, although they are far and few between.

Catracho Baca: my claim is due to the purchase of a carpet washer. On Saturday October 23 and that cost 26 dollars and today that I wanted to use it to wash the carpet in my house I realized that the Carpeta washing machine is broken and today I went to return it and they tell me that there is no return for electrical items in my think this store gives a bad service Asia customers and employees who are dedicated to checking appliances do a terrible job in their work area for not checking things and all they do is put the price and put it on sale without checking if the appliance is in good condition or damaged.

Nakaiayah Robers: It’s a really nice place super big the prices are kinda high for a thrift store but you can always find such good things

Jewelz Young: Definitely one of the best thrift stores that I have ever been to. Found a genuine leather jacket for $25 and barely worn lace up pumps for 20 bucks. Beware of the bazaar; the man that sells perfume can be a bit snappy but it might have just been that he thought he was cuter than me and my friends. We questioned why the Jimmy Choo perfume was $90 as it is being sold outside of i.e. Macy's, and was told maybe we should go there instead of him trying to make a deal.

Denise Higgs: Each time I visit I find great unexpected treasures in both stores. The air quality of the smaller side needs to be improved; it stays too hot. Because Unique is a thrift not a consignment store, items are a bit pricey. The majority of the staff are friendly and polite. However, there are a few I recommend customer service training and understanding/ interpreting store policies.

Kelly C: I like shopping at this store. They have a large selection with fair pricing. The 1 star rating is completely because of the checkout process. There are never enough cashiers and the ones that are there seem to hate their jobs and do it as slow as possible. I frequently leave without the items I want because I don’t have time to stand in the ridiculous line.

Jacqueline Fischer: I absolutely LOVE this thrift store! I'm here almost every day and there is always a plethora of high end purses, clothing, shoes, accessories, and soooooo much more!! Extremely kind staff, always willing to help when needed. I always feel welcome, and treated with a great deal of respect. The staff at the donation center is 100% on top of their game! The staff will unload your car for you, there is never a wait, careful with breakables, and make the experience very pleasant all around. I would highly recommend this thrift to anyone! Thanks very much all, Jackie

YOHANNA ALLEN: Yesterday I visited here with my daughter and it literally smell like pure doo doo on the side of the store near the accessories. I almost couldn’t shop because of that alone. I also wish the clothes were more fairly priced. I (regretfully) ended up putting many things in my car back because I just couldn’t justify spending money on items I could get brand new for cheaper, which is why I only give them 3 stars. I think a lot of people echo this same sentiment. However, you can find some great stuff in here and in good condition and on trend with the current fashion season. It was super packed because of a 40% off sale they were having that I found out at the register was only for kids’ items 😒😒. I also had to re-register to get my super saver points which also sucked. But overall, the shopping experience is decent you just gotta have patience. Some lady nearly tackled me for a coat (that she could not fit) yesterday.

Uptown Cheapskate: what do users think?

Crystal Miller: I’m going to start this review by saying this entire company is racist. No person of color especially a black person should sell their things to this company. I brought in several items that had tags on them and because they didn’t fit the stereotype of the white area that it’s in they chose to say that my clothes wouldn’t sell. I know that that is a lie because I have seen plenty of college girls in that area wearing the exact same clothing. Same time in the store I found a black woman who wanted my new leather Zara dress that was originally $70 it was never worn. I ended up selling the dress to her in this store that claimed they did not have the clientele to take my items. What I got from the store was that the ownership is racist. They only want things that cater to white people even though they are in an ethnic area such as College Park. I have found plenty of black women in this specific area who would love the clothes that I brought in but it didn’t fit the white standard in the store so it wasn’t taken. I cannot speak for the manager because she tried to run away from the situation. However the people that do work there the staff they are friendly they are lovely however I will never recommend any person of color to go to the store to bring your clothes because it’s not white enough. On top of that they took two items who were in worse condition than the rest of the clothes that were in great condition because it fit the white aesthetic in the area.
Response: Hi Crystal. Uptown Cheapskate College Park is black-owned and -operated. The majority of folks who buy from and sell to us as well as most of our employees are people of color. The company is not racist just because we were not interested in purchasing your items.

Ricky Gomez: I will start this review by saying that the workers are super friendly and nice , the reason i am giving this place a 1 start reviews because I brought in a pair of slightly used Jordan’s with the box (both with the same Serial number ) and everything to get them appraised and sold . Well I come to find out that I had to wait TWO WHOLE HOURS for them to examine the pair of shoes . They give me a call to come back into the store just to tell me they couldn’t “ authenticate “ the shoes and basically told me I brought in fake Jordan’s . They’re reason for saying this is because “ they don’t have the factory smell (obviously because they WORN Jordan’s ) and because the jump man logo had a little bit of glue that was visible (obviously from the manufacture process). It’s ridiculous to me that a store that buys and sell streetwear products can’t tell the difference between an original shoe vs a knockoff . Retros Jordan that release now a days aren’t made like they were 10+ years ago . The quality and materials they use aren’t definitely not what they used to be , now with that being said regardless of the quality its not hard to tell a real Jordan Vs a fake and mines weren’t perfect but they were in great condition with no sighs of knockout to a trained eye . So I took my business elsewhere and just shipped them to goat and check this out guys , they authenticated the pair in less then 24 hours of me shipping out the pair of shoes . Complete waste of time .
Response: Hi Ricky. Thanks for taking the time to review. Glad you were able to sell your Jordans. Out of an abundance of caution we often have to turn away items. The process is always smoother if the customer is able to provide proof of purchase or other material to guarantee authenticity.

Xiaojing Mao: I’m not sure if it was because I came by on Friday afternoon and no one wanted to work, I was not only illy treated but also asked to bring back all the stuff they don’t buy, even after I selected the “donate to charity” option in their system. There’s also no recycle bin nearby, I have to walk one block away to drop off the rest of my stuff. Considering the extremely low price offer they gave on the items they wanted to buy, it’s really not worth the effort paying this visit. I recommend donating your clothes directly.
Response: Hello Xiaojing. Thanks for taking the time to review. We try to give everyone a great experience. Unfortunately the automated checking system does not reflect the fact that we have not been taking donations since the pandemic began. All customers at drop off are informed that they are required to take back any items we are unable to purchase. We are not responsible for the whereabouts of local recycling bins but are glad you found an option. If you would like to provide more information about your experience please call 240-553-7271 and ask for Liz. Your feedback can help us improve our customer service.

Mindalay Bay: Very friendly staff & impressive mens collection. However, I value my time and don’t appreciate waiting almost 2 hours to be told they wouldn’t take any of my items (considering I arrived 10 minutes after they opened, had 1 person ahead of me, and was told it would only take an hour). Before I made this trip I made sure to include things they were interested in according to their Facebook posts. I was told they’d take a few things but it wasn’t worth it. Pretty sure something is worth more than nothing. Anyway, I don’t plan on coming back to this location since it was a hike for me and a complete waste of my time. Not looking for an apology or a response with an excuse.

Veronica: I am giving a one star due to the obvious following an employee with green hair was doing. She followed me and my younger sisters various times and just wandering around wherever we were when she was doing absolutely nothing or pretending to do “work”. We come to buy clothes in PEACE not to be harassed for our race or have someone think we’re thieves. She wandered around us a lot but not the white couple that was in there as well, how funny. Shame on that employee and whoever may have told her to do that. Next time she’s gonna get called out for that. Besides that, I would’ve given the store 5 stars because they have great clothes and it’s very clean. The cashier Samuel was so sweet and funny, maybe she could learn a thing or two from him.
Response: Hi Veronica. Thanks for taking the time to review and bringing your experience to our attention. I am sure no profiling took place and our employee was trying to do their job as best they could. If an employee is ever making you uncomfortable please bring it to a managers attention to address. Sam is fantastic. I will pass on your kind words to him.

Teetee Foster: I called up there 3 times to confirm that they accept DESIGNER SHOES . I asked them do y’all accept all designer shoes they answer was “YES “ . So when I drove 30 mins away from home to try sell my shoes they told me my shoes was over budget meaning they couldn’t accept them . If you know designer shoes gonna be HIGH , why say y’all accept all designer shoes ? . DONT WASTE YOUR TIME .
Response: Thanks for taking the time to review. We do take designer shoes for every budget. We currently have Prada, Raf Simons, Balenciaga, Manolos, etc but we can not guarantee purchase until we have seen items in person. Style, condition, demand and season are some of the factors besides brand that help us determine whether to make a purchase. Hope you are able to find a buyer for your shoes.

Felt God: they be spamming they took 6 items for 16 dollars and 3 items for 6 dollars they selling for 8.99 one of my items for more they offered me. this the type of store you go to turn your clothes in to get better clothes with store credit NOT to sell your clothes here. maybe the more clothes you have the more you will make. they do have the drip in there for decent prices tho actual designer. anything they take they should sell for at least 5 dollars an item thanks for attending my ted talk
Response: Hello. Thanks for taking the time to review and Ted talk. When you choose store credit you will receive 25% more than our cash offer. When you sell you will receive only a percentage of the price the item is marked - generally somewhere between 24 - 50% depending on style, demand, etc. You are always welcome to decline our offer if you are not satisfied. We do have a great selection at fantastic prices.

Joshua Newman: Hello, I can’t help to notice a handful of bad reviews. I must say my experience has been different. Everyone is kind, down to earth and super welcoming. The clothing is all quality brands and in good condition. It takes them up to 40 minutes to look through the clothes people want to sell them so they can assure quality. This is not an antique store nor your traditional thrift store. I definitely recommend checking it out.
Response: Hi Joshua. Thanks for taking the time to review. We are trying really hard during very trying times so it’s wonderful to receive some positive acknowledgment of our efforts. Hope to see you again soon.

Duncan: good cloths, good shoes, all very clean, got called "boss" a lot :D
Response: Hey Duncan. Thanks for taking the time to review. We try to make sure everyone has a good shopping or vending experience!

Andrea Angel: I take care of my shoes but some how aren’t In good conditions. They look the same as I bought them. Lastly, If you do sell they try to give you the lowest. Look around and you’ll see the conditions of their clothing honestly better off selling on offer up. I clearly went to both if I put down a review. Thanks for having time to verify though. Maybe better service and attitude will leave you better reviews.
Response: Hi Andrea. Can’t help but notice this is the exact same post you left on Plato’s site. We encourage you to exhaust all your resale options.

Unique: what do users think?

Abi Maghamfar: A place to donate unwanted items and buy used items from furniture to toys to kitchenware, clothes, shoes, books, DVDs, etc at reasonable prices. If you buying toys, puzzles and games or anything that have multiple pieces, makes sure all pieces are there as this has been one of the disappointing aspects of buying stuff here. The other disappointment is the lack of organization and cleanliness of the facility. Love the idea of recycling and reusing rather than sending them to the wasteland and Unique provides that opportunity.

Alice L.: Unique Thrift is a for-profit enterprise owned by Savers, which is owned by a private equity firm in the Seattle area. It is NOT a charity shop and does not donate its profits to charity. Their website clearly states: "Shopping in our stores does not support any non-profit." The company says it purchases donated items from some local non-profits; however, it does not release details on these buying deals. The company is large and owns many thrift stores around the country. I mention this because there are true charity shops in the area--including Goodwill, Urban Thrift, Salvation Army, church shops, etc.--that are actually charities and donate their profits to charity. Some of the real charity shops are even run by volunteers working for no pay in order to help the cause. A lot of people seem to think Unique is a charity and the attorney general in Minnesota has in the past accused this company of misrepresenting how much it gives to charity. So if you have lovely and near-new items to donate, I highly suggest donating them to authentic charity shops. I frequently shop the charity shops, but I also shop at Unique. Unique Thrift is still a worthwhile place to shop and I have found many nice items for good prices. It is pretty well managed and prices are marked clearly. The merchandise is generally clean and not damaged, although you have to examine your items carefully. There are 7-day exchanges but only for clothing and shoes. Be very careful buying anything else that might have defects, such as luggage, electronics, furniture, etc. Some items do have hidden damage so you have to look carefully. There are discounts here on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays only so those days tend to be crowded.

JJ Edwards: Its a huge thrift store, as afar as I know and for so many thrift store I had visited this is my favorite one. They have huge selection of clothes, shoes, toys, books, furniture, kitchen ware and many more. Worth to check out!

Sara O'Brien: I have been going to this place for years and always felt welcome, but today was the worst experience of my life. We were in line for self checkout, when I saw that register 18 was open, as I proceeded with my daughter to the register the woman that was in charged of self checkout named Charika told us, "come here because I cannot see what you ring there." We walked to the register that she told us and as I scanned this woman stands there staring at us scan each item. I was already getting upset because she was staring at us scan as if we were the only customers there or as if we were thieves. After scanning 7 items this woman proceeds to approach my bag and count the items that I had placed inside the bag to make sure it matched the amount of items on the screen. I felt that we were being treated as thieves. I got so upset, I asked for the manager, but she said no one was available, so I took a picture of her ID card. This woman stood staring at our register until we finished ringing every item as if we were thieves. People go to the thrift store for many reasons, but in no moment should they be harassed by anyone. This store needs to train its employees to be courteous and not target people

li garcia: Good thrift store. Nice selections of everything. All staff and personnel are nice and friendly except for the old lady at the register. Very mean ! Unfriendly! And the voice specially when she’s on the speaker. She’s always mad and unhappy person. I’m sure I’m not the only one noticing it!

Par and: It was my worst horrible thrifting experience ever. This Women Charika was extremely rude, and treated people as if they are thieves, it was traumatizing to see her digging into ppl's card at checkout and checking every single items aggressively. This store will go out of business soon, because of this women "Chaika", who enjoys harassing customers. Not to mention the store was extremely dirty, and messy.

Cynethea: This is a big store. They have household items, furniture, bedding, books, toys and more. I always leave there loaded up with great finds. It has a huge clothing section. I always find some of the best sweaters and tops. It's a great place to shop especially if you have limited funds. Tuesday is discount day. Check out lines move quickly. Team members are very pleasant.

That Brunette: High volume thrift store. Very busy with customers every day of the week. The turnover of stuff is high so, if you see something you like grab it. I've seen collectors and resellers in this store. Lots of kids playing in the toy section while the parents shop.

Ariel S.B.: My favorite thrift store! Yeah, some of the prices are just a little bit higher than your average goodwill, but the quality of items is so much better. I’ve seen brand new items from designer stores, sometimes with the tags still on them. Stuff is actually trendy and cute and not dated. They have clothes in every size, the selection is huge! Definitely visit if you’re looking to revamp your wardrobe.

Pr Katz: Love this place! Having a party? Get all the great Pyrex and serveware you need - have awesome BoHo mismatched fine china place settings, accessorize with cheap stuff from the craft store and outlet stores, and you've got a magazine worthy party photo at a price you can afford. Best of all? After the party, I box it up and redonate it back to the Great Stuff Stream (thrift store) for the next person. No new manufacturing, no waste, no piles of seldom used party supplies cluttering up the house. Perfect 👌🏼 Update: the masks are getting OLD! Self check out. Not shopping or donating here again.

Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store: what do users think?

Noor Ayoob: Great run with the family today to Goodwell there was so many stuff to buy good used equipment. Clean store parking was available on site great customer service . Keep up the great work.

Sandra Penoyar: Beautiful setting. Good food and drinks! Can't wait to go again

Natalie Forbes: I love thrifting at places like this because of the great finds you can get for low prices. That being said.... I've never been to a goodwill where things were high priced like this.... sneakers for 40$, jeans for 15$, select items in the 15-30$ price range. Also not a good selection of items at this store. Really turned me off...

Sharon: Went yesterday around 2pm The store itself is smaller than the goodwills ive been in before, but also more organized! I think their best section is the long sleeve shirts for women, I think they have some real gems in there! Workers are nice and it was an easy checkout. Would recommend if you need a blouse or just want to browse!

Robert Garrett: The Falls Church store is messy. The shelves are badly disorganized. The prices of many items are ridiculously high compared to the Annandale and Fairfax City stores. The staff were surly and sometimes rude. I won't be back.

T: A medium-sized store with a pretty decent selection on used pieces. I came out with two really nice dresses both brand new with the tags still on them and a skirt that still have the tags on it so it was new as well I also found a nice straw beach bag for the summer. The staff was very kind and helpful and the store was very clean I will definitely get back here 😊 Sorry guys I forgot to take pics this time!

Elmer And Liz Gonzalez: Two stars is just right, goodwill has become so overpriced that at today date I rather buy new instead, pair of shoes for $40 already used? No way, those used stuffs are donations, so should be priced accordingly not even higher than new. Check for yourself.

BEN watson: Fantastic service, nice stuff and great prices. Got a like new backpack for $9

Benjamin Medina: Don't waste your time with this store! They are over priced in all their items, and have some AWEFUL customer service issues! I grabbed a shirt from the same rack, go to to checkout and they tell me two different prices. I attempt to understand why two similiar shirts are marked differently, so the cashier, in spite, just charged me the higher price! Secondly, I was interested in a item, but it was in a bad shape for $200, again I was treated with bad service.

Marco Montoya: This a donation drop-off review: In a nutshell, one of the easiest and simplest donation drop-offs I have ever done. I drove up to the rear of the store where there was a woman handling the donations outside. All I had to do was wait in a car line of one, which took about 2 minutes, then drove up. She helped me unload my items from my trunk, and handed me a receipt when we were done. Start to finish: about 7 minutes tops. I will definitely donate here again. (I had initially tried donating to a women's shelter as I have done in other states I have lived, but apparently here in NoVa it is not as simple as all that; they were the ones that told me to just donate to the Goodwill. Done, and done.

Unique: what do users think?

Fredrick Omeniho: Unique is a good thrift store for dropping off your items that you no longer need ranging from clothes, kitchen wears, electronics, books, you name it. You also buy from items donated by others at a low price. Customer service here is also wonderful. I would say keep helping. Update: Unique has undergone some recent changes - sales automation and now you could attend to yourself but sales attendants are still around to help, coupons and perks have become more decent. Unique also has more inventories recently but you could walk in to donate more.

N: Had NO fitting room which seriously inhibits anyones ability to find quality items. Would have loved to get some jeans, shorts, etc. but felt uncomfortable buying when I can’t try on. To make matters worse, there are no returns, only exchanges within 14 days with original price tag attached. Well organized and good selection, though it’s hard to find items without trying on. The self checkout is also really convenient.

Karrington Greenlee: Clean and well organized however some of the clothes are dirty (stained not unwashed). They also have no place to try on and don't accept returns. The prices are good and you can definitely find good things if you're willing to take the time to look!

K Loftur-Thun: Used to be a great place to find quality things on a budget. Now that it's been redone, it's a turned into a bunch of overpriced, mediocre clothes that you can't even try on because they got rid of their fitting rooms and if you purchase anything, you can ONLY return it for store credit within 14 days (which they don't advertise! It's written in tiny legalese at the bottom of your receipt). Don't shop here unless you are 100% confident that you'll love what you're buying and it will fit perfectly, because as it is this is just a trap for your money.

Olmo Beherzt: Warning! They will sell counterfeit if you are looking for a bargain of an Vuitton purse. Avoid this, if legitimate you will over pay look for it in eBay if fake that has a negative value and it is illegal to sell it but Unique doesn’t discriminate and sells fake and genuine at same prices and more often it is going to be fake (again selling counterfeit is ILLEGAL unique managers should know better). Save your money… get elsewhere online is better because laws are applied rigorously.

Kathryn S: Wide variety of clothing and home goods, mostly at fair prices. It seems that they rotate their stock seasonally, i.e. sweaters are out in February, but not shorts. **There are no fitting rooms** but there are mirrors throughout the store to help you try on jackets/outerwear.

Robert Garrett: Major down-check after the store switched over to self-checkout. Normally, Tuesday is automatically a 30% discount for seniors' purchases. Guess what?! Even if you are a registered member and previously qualified without asking, for the discount, the self-checkout system is stupid and doesn't recognize senior status. Worse, when I brought it to the attention of one of the "assistants,"her response was "You have to tell us before you pay." What the heck? So I lost a10%discount because the system is faulty and the clerk doesn't want to bother with processing a refund Major negative marks for Unique! Odd, big store with a huge variety of clothing, shoes, accessories, household goods, furniture, knick-knacks, electronics, even games and sporting goods. Take your time to look around. But be careful. Remote controls are often missing from TVs, Stereos and other electronic devices. Also for some insane lack of reason, separated AC power supplies are frequently separated from their associated product. For example I found an Aerogarden hydroponic growing kit. Marked $19.99. what a bargain for a system that retails for about $130-150. Except.... No power supply! Thus no way to test to make certain that everything functions properly, and if you're lucky enough to find a replacement power supply (About $40-50) you stiil won't be able to return the unit if it doesn't work. Stupid, stupid, stupid. There's no other word for it. I'm getting used to the self-help checkout system. I think it makes customers more likely to be careless about cashing out, if you understand my meaning. Too many of Unique's goods are junk, trash. They are missing parts or are partially or entirely non-functional. I would be inclined to avoid any electrical appliances or electronics unless you really know what to test for and go over the product very thoroughly. My pet peeve for TV and audio gear is that they separate the remote controls and external power supplies from the devices they're intended to operate. How incredibly stupid and inconsiderate of the customer. Yes sometime you can buy a replacement remote or accessory. But more often the stereo or TV it BluRay player you just bought is crippled and useless. At least the store could try to keep pieces and parts together.. (and yes, I know, there are crude, thoughtless customers who open a retail package and toss the components aside, separating them so the next customer gets inconvenienced. You know if you're one and should be ashamed!) I have talked to a floor manager about selling defective merchandise and bit accepting their returns. His response was simple: he didn't care! What utter gall! The most important thing to remember is to take advantage of discount days and coupons for donations. This company is FOR PROFIT. Who know how much the Special Olympics actually benefits. I've never seen any public disclosures, have you? So save your money and your frustration by not buying anything that you can't be absolutely certain is in working order. One more observation. Their pricing scheme for the goods they sell appear to be completely random and without reason or rationale. My attached photographs show numerous glass flower vases, all essentially the same size and shape. Yet the prices range from $1.99 to $3.99, DOUBLE the reasonable lowest price. You'll find similar results in cookware (pots and pans) and even in small electrical appliances.

nonya biznes: i call this place the walmart of thrift stores. it’s gigantic, filled with good deals, and speedy with self checkout. it’s impossible to come here and not find SOMETHING in your size. highly recommend. i drive over an hour to come here.

Danielle Gorsky: Management and employees are extremely rude and unprofessional. Manager is cocky about his position and disregards customer service. He talks down to customers when they ask questions and prefers to go against store rules. Employees are generally rude and pretend like you’re not there and have no manners. Selection is okay but store atmosphere is sad from everyone working there.

Hannah Elizabeth: one of the lady workers with a middle Eastern accent accused my fiance of stealing one of the $.10 paper bags. she kept insisting that the prompt for it showed up and we didn't even see it pop up on the screen. would rate 0/10 stars if I could. very rude employee!!

Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store: what do users think?

vvk honey: I never usually come here but whenever I do they always be charging me for items that’s totally wrong & it’s kinda annoying. I’ll buy kids clothes & you can clearly see on the tag it’s says size 9, 10, or 12 .. just because they see an adult buying it they’ll charge me for women’s clothes? I buy kids clothes because I give them to my nieces. I’ll even buy a lingerie dress which would be considered “bra” or sleeping wear” & they’ll charge me for a regular dress. I don’t get it. They should probably have proper tagging tactics if they keep getting confused about items. When it’s the “color of the day” I would have to mention it’s the “color of the day” to them other than that they’ll charger for the regular price. It’s only this location that does this too.

Meka Sledge: Well organized and reasonably priced. They are really mindful of covid regulations with only 22 people at a time, direction on walking in lanes and masks are required. Dress only 8.99 and shoes 12.99

Manjosh Sidhu: Have donated here several times but never had a horrible experience but today. The on-duty person instructed me to drop clothing in one of the big bins and when I did, he started to yell that not this bin but the other one. Told him not to yell at me and he instead told me that I was yelling at him. Started to lie. I had a bag of clothing and he started to snatch my bag. And, I kept saying I was not donating the bag but clothing. In the end, donated clothing alone and came back. Had to add that this happened on the day I posted this review and in the evening around 5:30pm. Hope this helps! I remembered this since it wasn’t a great experience. You normally remember something Great or Terrible.

Angelita Sinor: Excellent prices always crowded

jose rospigliosi: A lot of "flippers" like myself used to go to thrift stores, salvation army and goodwill stores because they had really cheap vintage items that we could flip. Now they got smarter and look up prices online such as eBay comparisons. They price high. Same price you can buy on eBay or other resell sites. So it's no longer worth it for us. For the regular shopper? I don't even think it's worth it either. You can find the same prices for new items at Marshalls, ROSS or TJ Maxx. So I don't think it's worth at all. DVD and VHS movies at $2 here where you can find people giving aways huge boxes full of DVD / VHS for free. Or even yard sales you get 4 DVDs for $1. Just an example. So will not go here anymore unless it's to dump my junk that won't sell on eBay.

Mike Sampson: Decent (but not great) thrift store with a variety of clothes, household items, etc. A good option if you reside nearby (Frederick goodwill has a lot more good stuff).

Jason Morris: Great courteous staff and it has a drive-thru donation area. It really doesn't get any easier than this to donate your used items. Outstanding idea whoever came up with it I absolutely love it

Jaden Hdez: I went to the store 7.55 pm and the employees was very rude, the cashiers say it’s close I know they supposed to close 8.00pm. It’s happen in May / 5 / 2022 I don’t know want they are very rude I have 5 minutes left

Sam Odle: Good drop off setup, friendly staff in my experiences, and decent size inside. You’ll often see in reviews that goodwill stores need more organization and while that is true compared to traditional retail stores I found the organization here to be good.

Delighted Day: Super cleaned but clothes price went up recently. Some clothes cost more than original tags.Clothes price went up and 2 times they charged me what I didn’t buy I caught it right at the cashier, the first time I got credit, second time the manager help void it.

H&M HOME: what do users think?

Carina Palomino: the stores great and they have great clothes and all other than the fact the the changing rooms are closed. what’s the point of going to a clothing store then buying something and it dosent fit you? i saw several people go up to the blocked off charging rooms and turn back to see them closed. please open the changing rooms it will stop people for wanting to buy clothes

Swan Logan: Well . I was waiting behind two people On cashier line . I was the last on line . Until sudely the line start in the other side . Then the people on the other side saying that the line start here . Fine they let me in first . Then both of cashier only say” I can help who is next on line ? I go to the cashier and he tell me “ Man is pretty simple Line start here “. BUT he help the other people before me to the opposite side and he never said or correct anybody about the Line!!!! SO don’t make me feel bad. Next time make sure there is no two lines HM !!!!!!! Terrible Customer Service ever

Marjolijn Courbet: Funniest thing happened: Hi would love to see the coat the mannequin has on. Oh the one the mannequin in the store AND in the window has on ? Yes both the mannequins. Ah yes we don't have that coat anymore... Seriously ? Why is it on 2 mannequins... Uh well dunno actually. Hilarious....

TR4VL -Josh O-: Great prices but becareful the male workers open the curtains in the dressing rooms while people are inside... i saw a guy in his underwear because the worker had no idea what he was doing. Very surprised HM allows this kind of behavior in their stores. Improper management at this location becareful.

Sheila Marshall: This store needs a new buyer. I use to be able to go to the store in Georgetown and buy a few pieces of black to mix and match. It's totally garbage. Staff don't speak or smile. It's a waste of time and don't throw your money away.

Lana: Terrible customer service. Came at 6.45 and they already didn’t let people in since they were closed. And I needed to make a return exactly on that day! Improve your customer service or hire more stuff, you can’t simply close the store when it’s officially still operating hours!

Angela Davis: Came to do a return on a online order that someone brought my kid. I literally didn’t care if it was 10$’s I was willing to take the store value and buy other items. No i didn't Have a receipt because duh it was a gift. However but hole “manager LIZ” made it the most difficult thing ever. I read her, her own return guidelines and told her it’s ok I’ll take it for whatever value, but no a receipt was needed. I mean This is the nastiest women. She returned part of the same order but not everything because she felt i had attitude per her co worker who finished the transaction. I mean she act as if I wasn’t a customer who needed customer service. What I am going to say is I’ve worked here and shopped here ok and if she can’t do her job she needs to go!

LaToya Conner: Please check your receipts. I had the young lady do a price check and she never took the item off. I called today and Liz, a manager, was very rude and hung up on me. Not only do I have to request a formal compliant, now I have to spend time and additional money to right the way I was wronged. They can pull cameras, look at inventory, or just plain ask the young lady at Checkout to verify the experience. I’m very disappointed seeing the amount of money I spend here. I pray everyone has a better experience.

KATHRYN Morgan: My grand daughter wanted to show me this store..It was very nice ... clean helpful staff

Marwan: Like any other H&M. Huge selection. Friendly and attentive service.

H&M: what do users think?

Georgia Hensley: I really enjoyed visiting this H&M. We needed new dresses before going out for a night on the city so we stopped by the H&M closest to our hotel. My sister and I bought a few blouses and some really nice dresses. This place is clean, modern and shiny! Lots of inventory to look through. We were pleasantly surprised. Cute kids clothes as well. This H&M is located at 1025 F St. NW in Washington DC

Gothicah: On certain days, can display a great selection of good finds... on other days it can just be a very messy store. But one of the regular locations I frequently visit.

Lorraine McGhee: The cloth is beautifully set up to pull you in, prices good. Helpful staff, need more smiles though. Other than that I will go there again to by clothes that actually fits my shape and makes me look 👍👍👍👍👍.

Your Helpful Wendy: The lady in the cash register were so nice with me helping me with the questions I have. I signed up to their rewards program to get points on my future shopping. The store was a little confusing. They had good sales.

Jamie McIlwaine: I love H&M but not this location. They could care less about customer service.

Renita Lake: I almost never walk out of here empty handed🤣🤣 I took advantage of the sale and bought 2 sweaters. The associates are always nice and friendly, and the registers are always speedy at this location.

Dayili 7: Mmm it’s good but expensive.

May Arnold: I really like the fabrics they work with, it doesn’t give me allergies .

Uptown Girl: The staff is so miserable. I like shopping this store when I’m downtown, but would rather shop online to avoid rude employees. The people that work on the second level are the absolute worst. They go out of their way to ignore you.

Bonnie: Clothes are well organized but a staff who worked upstairs on 7/11 around 5-6 pm was not friendly to customers. I only asked what time they close the store and she said 7 pm and didn't even look at me and seemed very ungrateful and bothered.

Chelsey Birgisdóttir: Olivia and Adrian were so kind and helpful during my shopping experience. They are GEMS!

Tanya R: Very cheap clothing with strange cuts. Suited for 20s and early 30s age ranges.

Duke T. (Duke): Great. Guys fitting room closed--- go upstairs/elevator. Hugs

ajenae' herbert: Very well organized store. Love the business clothes selection. However, all the clothes seemed to be the last in sizes on the floor and staff didn’t offer to check backstock for anything. Nice store, needs better customer service.

D McC: Clean store and well stocked but long line with 1 cashier.

Ernesto Severino Escaler: Sub Par. Sale rep didn’t have scissors to remove tags and prices and the “red stickers” on the sale racks are mis leading. It’s the price of the lowest priced item on the rack, not the actual rack itself.

Sandra Andrade: Found items at great price.

Cristian M: Nice store but no kids section

matthew mckee: Great prices.. fun store.. I was mad I couldn't buy my wife the dress they had in the window but found something decent.

Tino M-Ze: This store is big and they always have a wide selection of newly release clothes. The clothes isles are very organized and accordingly from smaller size in the front and larger size in the back. Therefore easy to find what you’re looking for. They got rid of their huge nail polish and makeup station and replaced it with jewelry. Don’t try to start a nice conversation with their cashiers because they are not interested in small talk even though your just asking them how their day is going.

Nordstrom Rack: what do users think?

Bojana Stef: I never had such a negative experience in Nordstrom. There is a clear sign at the entrance door and in the store stating that if I download their app-get $5off. In from of the cashier and later store manager Ronda I did that and then they declined to give me $5 off as some banner on the app didn't show up - no explanation no nothing. I never had the Nordstrom app before (during covid, I was in Europe, and I just came back, so I didn't have the app). I will communicate this to Nordstrom.as well. If something is advertised, they have to honor it.
Response: We're sorry to hear this was your experience and for any inconvenience this has caused. If you would like any additional follow up to discuss this experience further, please send us an email to dgtlstrrvwsmb@nordstrom.com with more details as well as your contact information and we can certainly arrange that. -Tasha

Darlene jackson: 8/28/21, Voting rights March bring me to DC. And provides me an opportunity to check out Nordstrom Rack. I haven't done so in NY. SALES TIME! I bought 2 $15 T- shirt dresses and a $ 10 sweater!Great bargains at DC's Nordstrom Rack!

Jason Almeida: Great place for branded items at discounted prices. Ok maybe they might not be the style of the season but it's still worth it. Street parking is easily available all around the store. It's not as big as some of the other outlets but you'll still find a great verity of products

Hilda Kroll: The only department store in the area. Clean and organized so that it's easy to find what you're looking for.

George Brightman: Plenty of stock, although uneven from department to department. Staff on hand were friendly, capable and obviously very busy ( probably quite a few out sick or under quarantine ) -- so bring your own sense of fashion, do some browsing, and go home with some serious bargains !

40ish Sophisticate: This is the worst Rack I have ever been to and I am a frequent shopper plus a Nordstrom card holder for decades. The service is very poor. Lots of standing around, only one person checking out but plenty of security though. Will not return. This an update- I am just now seeing that the cashier did not credit my account for my return! This is absolutely unacceptable! I wish I never shopped at this location 😪
Response: Hello, We're sorry to hear about your recent experience at our store. Thank you for your feedback and we'll be sure to share this with our teams.

M Hunt: Horrible "customer service" at this location. Employees are rude and extremely unhelpful. I understand that retail has its challenges and am completely empathetic; however, multiple employees across the board at this location are downright terrible at their job and their attitude is even worse.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. We're truly sorry for the disappointing experience and will send this feedback over to our teams. - Trevor

Jon Scott: You never know what you are going to see in the mens shoe dept. I usually come here to ' just browse' but most of the time I find my self purchasing yet another a new pair of kicks!

Stacy Lemery: Nordstrom Rack is a great place, in-person or online for a myriad of goods, particularly shoes since Nordstrom the Department store is known for shoes and carrying extended sizes. I have noticed a shift in the Nordstrom Rack stores to now carry home goods like sheets and bedding. Be careful if you go in there - it's easy to shop, shop, shop!

Leonard Schneider: Great location. Some of the Racks are hit or miss, this is one of the good ones. Nice staff
