Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store: what do users think?
Reanna Rousseau
Reanna Rousseau: I have to say very disrespectful management at this location. The staff was lovely and helpful but the short light skin women manager with the face piercings, with her mask underneath her nose gave me the worst experience I have ever had at goodwill. Her regional needs to have her replaced ASAP. You can’t make your own rules at your store that’s not in policy. You can get fired for things like that and she must be reported. This is a store where they take free items and mark them up for “Goodwill” to sell to the people in the community who can’t afford the regular priced items. If you are over pricing the item you are basically doing a disservice to the community.
Zh Ie
Zh Ie: Purchased online from this location. The staff was amazing on checking the condition of the item after purchase, and as an added service on their end, they sent a few extra close-ups even after I had purchased, which was not necessary, but so appreciated that they thought to do that. Above and beyond service, and extremely customer-service oriented.
Kim Barr
Kim Barr: I found some lovely things there the staff was very helpful and definitely check out the colors of the week sales. I was able to get a 15.99 suit for 3.99 because of the colors of the week sale.
Franklin Owens III
Franklin Owens III: I was there for clothing… but I can never pick out clothing in a thrift store, so I left with books. The store was well organized though. I tend to be a bit uncomfortable buying items out of thrift stores. I didn’t care much for the clothes. But there were other items in the home section were really nice. Everyone was nice in the thrift store. Even when I gathered a cart full of books and then realized I couldn’t use my clothing voucher on books😬😅
bluslushii
bluslushii: Been to multiple Goodwills, the staff was by far the most helpful and I honestly received the best customer service I did at any business. Definitely will be returning! Thank you so much ladies for being so kind and helpful!

A Wider Circle: what do users think?
Julia Reda
Julia Reda: A little hard to find only because my GPS kept taking me to a footpath near the back of the building. If you have mattresses, boxsprings in great condition, they will take them. A great service they offer to those needing help to get back on their feet.
Arlene Phillips Sumner
Arlene Phillips Sumner: They are a good place I gave to them a few years ago when I was moving now I just met with the gal and the things I’m giving them our new most of them designer clothes with the tags still on them. They do not sell or things like Salvation Army Etc. that’s why this is a good place they will be coming to pick up peace
Lisa Queen
Lisa Queen: They have very professional staff and one of the best contributes to the DC, MD, VA area. They help supply furniture to recipients who may not have money for further at the time they move in. Please donate to one of the best non- profits in the area!
Anna W
Anna W: I really felt let down as a volunteer career counselor, mentor, cheerleader or whatever. They gave me a person to mentor, but she had to cancel a few times due to family issues. A Wider Circle also told me to give the woman some time/space, so I didn’t push her. When we did get together, the woman just went on and on about family problems, and problems with her boss. Anything I suggested, she had a reason for why it couldn’t be done. For a while, I called and got no answer, and when I asked WC if they knew what was happening, they told me the woman was dissatisfied with me, because I didn’t push her hard enough. After that, WC said they would assign me to someone else. Long story short, they didn’t ever call me back. Additionally, I never would have known my services were no longer required if I had not called WC. Finally, they never even asked for my side of the story regarding the woman I was trying to help. I drove all over the place to meet this woman on her turf, so it would be easier for her. I spent my time listening to the woman, not to mention the training I sat through, and I don’t even warrant the courtesy of a phone call from WC to explain what was happening, as it was happening. I found WC to be poorly organized and managed regarding the mentoring piece. I’m retired, and I wanted to do something good, and WC just dropped me without explanation. Very poorly done, WC.
Virginia fleischman
Virginia fleischman: Great organization. Careful withonline maps! Had to go into my backup system to actually get there
love never fails
love never fails: First time going there 12/10/2021 big of a wait wasn’t on time. Did get a new nectar brand bed. Today 12/12/2021 bed bugs came from the box springs received and they were in the couch. While waiting for my moving people (185.00) I did get to witness first hand there steam cleaning is not the best nor the real deal. Spent 14.00 for fogged bombs, and had to find some where for me and my son to go.
Sharon Lundahl
Sharon Lundahl: This is a competently-run charity. They are clear about what donations they are looking for, and they improve life for many of our citizens. I wonder, however, if it is necessary to ask for your name, address, phone number, and email address before you drop off any item. It seems a bit invasive, and I expect a ton of solicitous emails if not phone calls

Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store: what do users think?
deborah
deborah: Friendly and clean. You have to wear a mask. They have antibacterial wipes for the carts but the hand sanitizer bottle is empty lately. I love the sale on the colored of the week.
Ariel W
Ariel W: Snagged a fantastic dining room table and chair set. The staff were upbeat, very helpful, and assisted me with loading it into my car. Great deals like brand-new designer sandals can be found with a little searching.
A Google User
A Google User: I was here last week and bought a dress from a somewhat upscale brand. I got home and quickly realized the item had a hole on the front as long as my thumb. I paid $9 plus tax for this item, which is in my opinion pretty high. This item should not have been on the floor. I also saw them selling blatantly fake Gucci shoes for $70 displayed right at the front of the store near the door. Last time I shop here. They shouldn’t rip people off like this. One time about a year or so ago I came here when they had obviously just fumigated the store, and they were letting people walk around despite it smelling strongly of fumes. It gave me a headache and made me nauseous, and I’m not usually super sensitive to chemicals. I have to wonder how that was for the employees, who are usually working at Goodwill because they can’t leave and get hired elsewhere. Two stars because occasionally there are good finds here, but overall prices are way too high for the type of things you’ll find.
Kerubel Gezahegn
Kerubel Gezahegn: Amazing Service and will most definitely shop there again10/10 would recommend
Emma Jones
Emma Jones: Mixed feelings about this store. I did get some great stuff and staff was super nice but when I pointed out that one purse was covered in mold they said that it was fine and they would sell it anyway. They placed it back on the shelf/purse rack.
Ruth T
Ruth T: The store closed 10minutes Early. Very disappointing.
Rebecca Dellavilla
Rebecca Dellavilla: Quality items for sale but bad staff attitudes. Not sure if it was just the crew they had on shift tonight but there was one only helpful staff member. The rest seemed like they could use a nice warm cup of tea...
Maya Elle
Maya Elle: Very organized and clean the only problem is the store size, and therefore, the selection is really small. Staff is super friendly overall good. :)
Taneesha Gray
Taneesha Gray: bad place for employees. i was terminated because my children were sick. The head manager Jessica is very rude to her employees and customers. thats why everyone quits after just a couple of days or months of working there. They dont pay enough for all the stuff you have to do. the store never stays organize because everyone leaves. thats why im so happy i found a better paying job thats worth it. good luck to them finding dedicated employment. they only have one that sticks with them for years. No one does not like working for goodwill. only the people that are desperate.

Renee Simms

Carol Casperson
Carol Casperson: Very courteous and helpful staff. A great place to make your donations of household goods and clothing. Very organized and clean.

Kurt LaRose MSW LCSW LICSW
Kurt LaRose MSW LCSW LICSW: The antiques and the finds here are wonderful. The staff, volunteers, care so much about the items. Here I am reminded of my grandparents dishes, jewelry, paintings, dishes, silver, metalurgy, pocket watches, rugs .... and the iron statutes are just phenomenal. Today I found a 10k gold rosary engraved from 1924 ... with a historical attention to detail that is awesome. The people working in the store celebrate the items as you look.
Response: Thank you Kurt! We're so glad we were able to help you find some beautiful items!
rebecca leigh
rebecca leigh: A lovely store with beautiful things. Sometimes a bit pricey. The service is excellent and warm.
Sandra Biedron
Sandra Biedron: Wow. Great place for vintage jewelry and everything else one needs for a home or office. Not only is everything repurposed but all proceeds go to children in the area that need help meeting their emotional needs. Found four rare Portmeirion pottery pieces as well as two pieces of vintage high-end jewelry. These were very fairly priced with the market. Excellent collection of dishes, silver, and crystal. Go there instead of doing a wedding registry! So much more green! Rock on Opportunity Shop - you made my heart happy today seeing things re-purposed! The place was packed!
Eric Rajendra
Eric Rajendra: The best antique and bric-a-brac store in all of DC. Our family in Georgetown has given thousands of dollars worth in contributions of our own antiques we no longer needed and then we bought thousands of dollars more in antiques we needed!! This place is a gem for us Washingtonians!! The volunteer staff members are truly precious and really dedicated!! They love their work and make the entire experience of browsing a joy. The second floor has great stuff so GO UP!! Jewelry, silverware, Asian antiques, porcelain, etc! You won’t be disappointed. You need to return weekly as new consignments and donations come all the time!! Trust me.
Response: Thank you so much, Eric!
Randolph Lopez
Randolph Lopez: Question the authenticity of the antiques and antiquities. Do not be misled. I was foolish enough to believe the descriptions that were displayed on the Asian pieces and the purity of some silver pieces that I purchased. I am not a seasoned collector. I only depend on the honesty of people; especially those associated with a “Christian” charity.
Tom Preston
Tom Preston: Prices are too high, often higher than the antiques shops in the neighborhood. No bargains unfortunately. And reductions are not per standard consignment shops- only 20% every 60 days instead of every 30 days. Not sure how they stay in business TBH.
Response: Thanks for the feedback, Tom. We host flash sales on our Instagram and Facebook every Monday with 20% off select items. You may find some bargains there!
A. Greenough Dodd
A. Greenough Dodd: Huge fan of this nonprofit consignment shop (aka The "Op Shop"!) that benefits the needs of DC area children. Always great finds, but definitely allow time to peruse the many items. Well-worth the search!
Response: Thanks for the kind words! We now have a Facebook and Instagram page where we highlight and feature different items. That may help you find some treasures! And yes we love our customers and their support of our mission of helping local mothers and babies in need!
Angela Van
Angela Van: Clean and organized decor consignment purchase structure (can see how the price drops by date). Always find something when I go in. Unfortunately, they just re-organized downstairs so the bulk is upstairs--no elevator.
Jonathan Fuhrman
Jonathan Fuhrman: Nice place for antiques. Everything has a date it came in and gets marked down every month. Prices are a bit high, but not outrageous.

Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store: what do users think?
Jane Elizabeth Webb
Jane Elizabeth Webb: Many items were overpriced....however there are still treasures to find that are reasonable. Many of the clothing items should have never made it to the rack however some are great! Will I go back... yes...but only when I have time and patience to dig thru things that should be tossed.
Eva Leon
Eva Leon: Good items. Only concern is not all but some staff are rude and not friendly whatsoever. I don’t see myself coming back here anymore.

Hansei Kai: Great place to buy used stuff.
Janine Perky
Janine Perky: My daughter and I enjoy finding clothes for our family at Goodwill. The clothes are in wonderful condition and the prices are very affordable, especially when on sale. The staff are friendly and always helpful.
Dale Brandt
Dale Brandt: This place is terrible ! I tried donating about 10 books (mostly hardcovers) and some medical journals. The lady there took my Walmart bag containing the books, and dumped them into a large cardboard box (about 5’ x 5’ 5’ in size) that was sitting outside in their parking lot. The were in great condition but won’t be after being exposed to the outside weather. This black lady (about 20-25 years old) had no concern that I was making a donation ! She was clueless … and didn’t care. This was at the “donation center” in Bull Run in Manassas, VA. If employees aren’t going to take care of donations, because the obviously don’t care, they should be fired ! I had to pay approx. $25.00 for Lyft or Uber rides to/from Goodwill from my apartment in Fairfax, VA. I can’t drive. If I could give Goodwill a negative Star-Rating, I would !!! They are not taking care of the Donators or the people who may want to purchase the items !!!!! Just Terrible !!!!!
B Colbert
B Colbert: Not a well organized store. The employees were also standing around complaining about the job. Things were just thrown on shelves. Purses priced anywhere from $3 - $78. The only thing organized was the furniture. Not going out of our way to go there again.

Habitat For Humanity Restore: what do users think?
Regina Mock
Regina Mock: I love thrifting at stores like this for odd pieces of glassware or furniture. The store layout is not the best for shopping. Quite disorganized in the back with just general groupings of different types of glasses. It’s a bit like a scavenger hunt, to sift through everything. There are lots of construction materials like tiles, faucets, sinks, piping, power tools, and large cabinets and statement pieces. During the pandemic there was a large amount of good priced office furniture from local businesses closing. The location is kinda far from everything else in the middle of all these industrial buildings.
Tee Cee
Tee Cee: Came here back in summer of 2021, and was so pleasantly surprise by the prices and variety of the furniture, tile, and faucets. Came back today to buy again--walked out empty-handed. They are now WAY overpriced. $300 faucets, used water lines for $5 that you can buy new at Home Depot for $6--and the list goes on. Also, I saw something troubling in the store. There was a sign for the volunteers that noted they are not allowed to lounge, that if they need something to do to ask the manager, and that they are only allowed a 15 min break if working at least a 4 hour shift. Wow! The last time we came they were rife with volunteers but this time there were barely any--and I see why! Not coming back.
Sara Clark
Sara Clark: Nobody in DC knows were to go but through alot of research and weeks without furniture I found this place. I highly reccommend you stop by. It is worth the drive.
Indhira Holmes
Indhira Holmes: Great place to buy used furniture and also find cool stuff you didn’t think you needed. Also good prices
Loopy H
Loopy H: Great place to find excellent building materials for your one off project. You can find great doors to replace broken ones in your older home that are no longer manufactured. Very large space and decent prices. Also a good place to find kitchen cabinets to organize your garage, kitchen, or bar.
Test Test
Test Test: The big white guy manager is shady and unethical. Ups the price on an unmarked item even though another worker had given me a lower price.

Ramy Sharabi
Ramy Sharabi: Absolutely a must go for treasure hunters and if you are looking for home remodeling and furnishing in a budget. It is not an antique store, rather a salvage store that sell second hand and used construction, home improvement, kitchen cabinets, doors and windows, and electric appliances etc for decent prices. Friendly staff and plenty of parking spots.

Response: Hello, Nathan! Thanks a lot for the great review! I just saw the photos that you posted, and the vintage pendant looks awesome over your dining table. And I love your chairs! Thanks for the support!
Jennifer Ibrahim
Jennifer Ibrahim: What an amazing community resource that i bet most people aren’t even aware is here. This is the goodwill of home renovation. They will pickup things you don’t need anymore (they recently came to my home in dc to pick up an old toilet and vanity for donation). They have such gorgeous stuff and lots of awesome antiques and all at great prices. Love the idea of shopping here since it’s environmentally friendly to recycle and reuse instead of buy new!
Response: Thank you for the kind words - and for spreading the word about our free donation pickup service :)
Melani Harden
Melani Harden: I was walking the wrong way as I am out of state and wanted to visit this place. A man in there was very rude to me and started just saying no. So I asked for help and he said “im on break” and walked away. I understand people need to eat but dang there are better ways to speak to people and offer them help. Walked out immediately due to that experience.
Response: Hi Melani, I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience at the warehouse. That's not a great way to be treated and it's very atypical of our team to be rude. Would you mind contacting us at info@CommunityForklift.org? Would like to hear more and figure out how we can help. Thank you!

AND TO MAKE IT WORSE I CALL TO SOEAK TO THE MANAGER AND SHE HUNG UP ON ME. Please contact me to explain in further detail on how these employees are a embarrassment to your establishment. Josue
Gena Komrada
Gena Komrada: Lands End shorts and top. Awesome deal.
Matt Burz
Matt Burz: Large selection inside with good prices! Donation process was relatively straightforward and streamlined
Juliana
Juliana: This store has such great options! Vintage finds, designer finds, and kitchen items are great! My only issue is they always have a million people outside in the donation area and only like two people at the register, so you end up standing in line for 15-20 mins. But aside from that I love the store and their selection.
Pedro Cabezablanco
Pedro Cabezablanco: To give credit where credit is due, this location of Goodwill has gone to great lengths and innovative concepts in developing new forms of being rude to people who wish to donate. Heavy box? Not our problem. Disabled driver who needs some aid donating? Be comfortable blocking a line of other donators as they figure out that you need help after shuffling large pallets around and try to ignore you as long as possible. A couple of color laser printers along with spare toner and peripherals? dropped into cartons as if the sound they made crashing against the bottom was the voice of angels. Such a shame. I like to thing the donations will do some good, and I realize they famously do not pay well, but oh how I dread coming here.
Maritza Cooper
Maritza Cooper: If you like to shop thrift stores, then you should try this location. I went in to just browse and maybe find a book or 2. I left $100 POORER! I found 10 books, 3 shirts, a Michael Kors Purse, a Fossil Purse and a fabulous pair of Ralph Lauren boots! Plus a bunch of other useful things! I happily shopped for 2 hours! The service there is excellent. From the guys stocking the shelves to a fabulous cashier. It was wonderful. I am thrilled with my purchases. ESPECIALLY the BOOTS! I try to pop in frequently as the stock is constantly changing. You never know just what kind of treasures you may find! Shop Happy!

Brentt Moore
Brentt Moore: The hours could be much better than what they are, but prices are really good and they frequently have specials on various selections of items. I do wish that the facility was larger and that it offered a larger selection of outdoor equipment, indoor furniture, and electronics. Its main focus is civilian and military clothing.
The Caramel Effect
The Caramel Effect: The customer service is what I like so far the most!!
Diedre Point
Diedre Point: 1st time back, since 3/5/20. Found 75% of the items that I wanted.

Frugalista: what do users think?
Blessing Okafor
Blessing Okafor: Amazingly cute items for a pretty reasonable price!!! I bought 11 items for about $75, and that included sweaters (many are currently discounted for $4.99 + tax each) and a cute pair of Marc Fisher sandals. Highly recommend to check out!!
Leslie Williston
Leslie Williston: Good place for some good finds! Pretty cheap clothes. In a basement so it kind of looks fake but i promise it’s real. employees were really friendly.
P B
P B: I love Frugalista - satisfies my “shoppy” urge and I can’t even calculate the money I’ve saved. Very little is beyond $20. Not that it’s so important lately, but I’ve gotten a lot of really good quality work clothing especially there! Also found a lot of great Boden clothing, which makes me happy. Plus every single pair of shorts I own, from nicer ones to super casual (all $7)! And the people who work there are also really nice.
Response: 🙌🏽
Crystal Banks
Crystal Banks: Cool name but Based on that name I thought I would be getting variety and a deal. Nope. I paid $10 for 3 T-shirts. My favorite thrift store shirts are $1- $3. One shirt here is $4.99 + tax 😒 Everything was just drab. There were some prom dresses and lots of mens clothes and dress shoes. Ultimately, this is a pricey thrift store the size of a DC (city) basement. With matching DC parking for a business😥 I feel like I got duped but I was the one who wanted to "check it out". The staff speaks mostly Spanish but did greet me kindly when I came in. There are fitting rooms and a seamstress. Oddly, for a second hand store, they were accepting unwanted pantry foods but... It was all sitting in a box right outside the store🤔🙄🙃
Tristana Fiscella
Tristana Fiscella: Fun spacious second hand store that you can get lost in for an hour or two listening to the radio. Bring a tape measure and hone in on measurements, cut and color instead of Brand hype and Size label madness. NOT a thrift store and the prices reflect that. They pay rent, employees and keep on keeping on after many years in the neighborhood. Besides, you may come across practical, well-made clothing at a reasonable price or at the very least walk out smug & virtuous, w. your Green Fashion ideals fulfilled for the day.
Response: 🙌🏽
Keri Panatier
Keri Panatier: Fun small thrift store! Many great finds - coats, shoes, accessories

Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store - Clinton: what do users think?
Helen B
Helen B: Prices are definitely higher than your average thrift shore. $19 for a used pair of shoes is a little outrageous, and the flat rate pricing for clothing is also really high. All sweaters and long sleeve tops are $6.99, etc. Remember, Goodwill is NOT a non-profit. That said, this store has a good selection and is organized nicely and has some good brands and many NWT items. Great for resellers like myself!
JE Namaste
JE Namaste: The price are extremely high, you might as well buy it new. I will not be visiting this store, sick of some people think they are the mask police, I walked in to few other stores before coming to this location and no body care if you have or don’t wear mask. If you have not learned anything for the last past two years with these mandated you needs to WAKE UP and smell the roses. It DOESNT work, and it’s a illegal mandate not a law. Glad it was not worthy of my time visiting this store.
m4ryk473 !
m4ryk473 !: Their selection of clothes and shoes is amazing, everything else is kinda meh but still a nice good will. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE FACT THAT EVERYTHING IS COLOR ORGANIZED! And it’s done well, it’s so satisfying to see everything color coded. Shoppers and staff are also pleasant. You can tell that they have a lot going on is all. I love thrifting and this place is a easy way to spend $100.
PHIL W
PHIL W: Regrettably, this store will not pick up donations offered by donors. Furniture, clothing, and household items were offered and they declined...and not even politely. Perhaps funds should be collected to purchase a truck for pickups and the necessary staff. This would build goodwill in the community.
Angela Newman
Angela Newman: The Clinton location is great. I shop here daily. The prices are sometimes a little inflated. I want to acknowledge a few store employees Jeremiah H., Christyan H. And Xavier. They are fantastic and make shopping here a joy!!! Please let me not forgot a young man that works in the back. He’s always so pleasant with a yes ma’am. Have a blessed day ma’am when I donate. ( sorry I wish I knew his name). Keep up the good work guys. 😊. 🎉🎉 Thanks Angela
Virgil Bauer
Virgil Bauer: Enforcing outdated mask policies.I will not shop or donate to any goodwill stores ever again.

Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store: what do users think?
Justin “Nytalite” H
Justin “Nytalite” H: I came here on a Sunday afternoon in March 2022. While the staff were friendly and the electronics prices were surprisingly good, the store itself was tired and depressing. There were also so many people inside the small store that it felt claustrophobic. This Goodwill should definitely be moved or renovated.
Adrienne Rigby
Adrienne Rigby: They have come a long way since opening. Items are more organized, color coordinated, more designer options, and prices are not as expensive. Some items are overpriced, so choose wisely. There is handicapped access and free parking. The donation center is in the back.
janet marable
janet marable: Applied for a Job here, received a Phone interview with a woman name Kim, Never received my email with my start date or address of Job, I Texted this woman Kim without any response, that was a very Unprofessional way to Try and Hire a candidate.
Wendy Baynard
Wendy Baynard: I like the way the clothing items are tagged by size, it makes it easier to find what size your looking for. However, the cashier forgot to put one of the items that I purchased in my bag.
Naki Rowe
Naki Rowe: Estefany was so helpful and patient with us while we were at the Location off of Telegraph road🙏
T The best
T The best: Shopping here is great outside of the managers. They always have an attitude and kick you out the store in such a rude way… I thought it would be cool to work here… no. Working here and the managers are just as awful. The staff environment is terrible. Rude disgusting people especially the two GM’s. Overall just needs better management and kinder folks
