Gearin' Up Bicycles: what do users think?

M B (M B): Had a great experience here! I went to one of their Saturday bike sales and was able to find a nice bike with the help of the staff! They also have a shop that you can go to for bike maintenance and to learn skills from the staff. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good bike in DC.

Brandon Sousa: Really happy with my experience here. I had a flat and they addressed it immediately, I was back on the road in 5 minutes. Reasonable prices, I think I paid $40 total for the tube, the tube change, and a new tougher tire, hopefully keeping the bits and bobs out of my ride.

Grant Sexton: Had several things fixed on my old Schwinn Traveler. The price for repair was great, and the customer service was as well. They gave me a very down to earth explanation of some of the problems on my bike too, which I appreciated because I often have trouble tracking with “bike guys.”

Aurora Williams: Love that this in an option in our community. Very affordable, professional, and quick service. Was in and out with a fixed bike within 30 minutes. Very happy to make the trek and support this organization.

Bryce McKibben: Awesome place to stop in for a quick repair. Got a flat and came in around 4pm, and it was done in 30 minutes. Amazing prices, too. Will be coming back here again!

Nastacia Moore: The guys are so friendly and knowledgeable. I brought my bike in same day and they fixed it on the spot. I highly recommend this place.

Diana Nguyen: Just after moving to DC, this is where I bought my trusty bike. I was received with great energy and just overall amazing service. They helped me out on fitting me with a bike, describing the details/repairs of said bike (ie Shimano STI shifters, hieght adjustment, etc.), etc.. By far the nicest bike I ever did buy. You know I really love it here because I ended up naming my bike, Keith.

Cale Magruder: these guys are awesome. hooked my friend up with a new bike cheap, and tightened up a loosening crank on my bike for free. great people :-)

Zbigniew Kostrzewski: Fantastic shop and mission! Quick affordable and pleasant service! Highly recommended, well worth some travel easy street parking! All in on this shop and its mission.

BicycleSPACE- Ivy City: what do users think?

Alex Martin: Leave it up to the wonderful people of Washington DC to complain about “rude” behavior. Maybe like one dude in the back was a douche but at least he was an honest douche. If you appreciate radical honesty then this place is worth a visit. Also Justin new kid training had great insight to give when it came to my curiosity about fixed bikes. Last but not least the owner made absolute sure my bike fit my body size, far more than the competition ever did. Will send people to this location for sure.

Louise Pocock: I’ll preface by saying I’m not a bike head but went to this shop in my neighborhood after moving to DC because I wanted to make biking my primary mode of transport. These guys spent hours listening to what kind of bike I wanted and how I planned to used it and explained all my options and answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly. I not only bought a bike but learned a lot about bikes and how to take care of them. They got me set up with all the practical locks/lights/fenders etc for a very reasonable price. When I wrecked they fixed it right away and for free (no replacement part needed, just my fenders reattached). I have been back several times for other little things and they always help me right away and keep me riding. I love my bike shop!

Mike Carr: Many bike shops are plagued with pretentious staff. This is NOT the case at Bicycle Space. The employees are all super friendly and helpful. As an added bonus their location in Ivy City is easy to get to from most parts of DC and there is almost always easy parking right out front. This shop also sponsors many fun bicycle events in the area, such as the Saturday Cupcake Ramble lead by Lionel!

Jessica Long: I was in the market for a new bike for commuting and racing as I start to get into triathlon training. The staff there was very engaging, kind, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend it!

Julia Lo: As others have mentioned, slow service and poor communication. I came in for a quick/on-the-spot repair but halfway through the repair the bolt on my front derailleur broke off. I was told that the mechanic would take a look at it the following week to see if he could get the bolt off, or if we had to order a replacement. I checked in periodically and was often told that they would get to my bike and provide an update "later today" and "tomorrow". Long story short, my bike was at the shop a little over 3 weeks. I would have appreciated an honest and realistic time estimate from the beginning. My brakes, which were replaced during the visit, were also squeaky when It came back to me. I would return to the shop only to have the squeaking return after after a day or so. The mechanic often talked trash about REI, but in my opinion they have not proven to be any better.

Nick Webster: BicyleSPACE is a wonderful, friendly, downtown bike shop. I stopped in to look around and a knowledgeable staff member took the time to show me around in a no pressure manner. When I am in the market for a new set of wheels, I will be in.

Marc Pulliam: Not sure how they have 4 stars. These guys are very unprofessional. No type of customer service I call and ask if they sold bike pedals the response was were a. Bike shop how rude. Ordered a bike and had it shipped to be assembled which should had only taken a minimum of two days. My bike has been there over a week and all they can tell me is that they are backed up because there mechanic was tboned. They said they would follow up but I have not received any follow ups. At this point it will be faster to cancel my purchase and have a bike shipped to a different shop. No focus on customer service here don’t say you wasn’t warned

Bike Club: what do users think?

dholmblad: Cannot recommend Bike Club enough. Had the derailleur hanger bend on a very sentimental 1990s carbon specialized. The owner was able to work his magic, replaced the derailleur and fixed the hanger. Before I walked out he made sure the shifting was smooth and dialed in. Thanks!

Chuck Baier: Bike Club is a one of a kind bike shop! It is a one man shop and you need to approach Phuoc, the owner, at the right time and in the right way to get positive results. If you rush in, start rapidly firing off questions, and making demands, Phuoc is likely to dismiss you and recommend you look elsewhere for needs, often rudely. However, if you stop in, sit down, and make some friendly small talk, then he will dig what you need out of his cavernous shop, fix you up, impart some insightful wisdom to you about human nature, elicit a few belly laughs, and get you back on your way. You will then have a friend who will remember you even when you come back 3 years later, as he did with me. If you’re bringing your bike in for service, the question is not whether Phuoc can fix it but if he wants to fix it. Therefore, don’t start off by telling him your opinion of the problem or how to fix it. God forbid, don’t start by arguing over 5 bucks based on your latest Google or Amazon search. Instead, just set back, ask for a beer while you wait, and let this Master perform his craft. And if you genuinely love bikes, don’t miss the opportunity to take the tour inside. Carefully navigate the pathways through the shop for a trip through the last 50 years of bicycle history. I’ve been in dozens of time and find something new to intrigue me each time. Bike Club is an absolutely unique Falls Church institution and Phuoc is indeed an endangered species. A trip to Bike Club is MUCH more genuine than the overpriced pro shops staffed with hipsters with a different sort of attitude. Good luck!! Pedal Power!!!

Alec Lee: Horrible owner with rude attitude, don’t even think going in there. You will be traumatized after visiting this place and experiencing customer service for a long time. The owner is simply crazy, start yelling and cursing after simple questions. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone!

Patrick N.: This is an old school bike shop, keep in mind, there is really no “customer service” you get to the shop, state what you want and proceed to either get your bike serviced or purchased. Pham goes out of his way to repair and sell these bikes, as strange as it sounds; he is NOT a salesman and doesn’t value taking too much time for window shoppers because he is a 1 man team mostly. So before you judge this shop like it’s a modernize shop with different department staffing and things like that; keep in consideration he’s doing well every thing he can effectively to run his own store, and he’s been in the business longer than you’ve prob been alive so he can tell a window shopper or someone who’s going to waste time off the bat.

Howard Stultz: I’m not sure how this guy stays in business. The first time I went there for a product he said he didn’t have any when I thought I saw what I needed on a shelf that would have been hard to reach. (One look inside the door and you clearly get the idea he’s a hoarder.). The second time I went there (on a Sunday) he was sitting outside talking to a potential customer. I waited until they were done because it was clear from looking at the doorway navigating the chaos would have been difficult. When it was my turn I told him I wanted to buy a bike. His reply was truly unusual (and rude). He said he didn’t have any bikes for sale and that they were closed... Huh? I get there’s a run on bikes these days, but you can look in the shop window and see he had some bike inventory. Needless to say, I’ll never go back and will spread the word about my experiences.

OneChance OneMistake: Store is very messy and cluttered with random things. Came to see a used bike that caught my eye before. It was in decent condition but dirty and the man wanted $250 for a bike that sells for $220 new. Told me he priced it high just because be assembled it, and is taking advantage of bikes being sold out everywhere during covid. Would not go here if youre looking for a bike. And the man smokes so much so bring a gas mask.

Bicycle Pro Shop: what do users think?

Mike Jones: Long time quality shop in DC, been going there since 1996 when I was a bike messenger and racer. Stopped in today to get some new cleats, and grabbed some energy gels, new gloves, and got a great deal on some aero water bottles from the manager Garrett. Got everything I needed for upcoming race quickly and with friendly helpful service. Thanks a lot!!

Humberto Murati: Last Saturday stopped by the shop to get the front tyre fixed. After a couple of miles the front tubeless Schwalbe had a pinched. Job was done perfectly. I was able to ride back to Old Town Alexandria, confident that the tyre will not be an issue. Thanks guys for the awesome friendly customer service and the great job fixing the tyre. Humberto Murati Owner Murati Titanium Bicycles LLC #muratibicycles

Michael Kelly: Bought from Giants website, shipped to the store and they were the most professional and courteous staff. Bike was built and ready to ride the next day. I would highly recommend getting a bike here, staff was knowledgeable and were extremely professional.

OSCAR CLONINGER: Technician Will White rocks! Friendly and didn’t lord over me with his knowledge. Don’ know about the other team members but I would go back and pay for Will’s help anyway! FYI: in and out in a jiff when I dropped my bike of: the shop wasn’t super busy when I dropped my bike off!

Alan Raeder: I stopped in the shop this past summer needing a specific chain tensioner for my single speed and Dave went above a beyond to get me set up with one. I was taking a rest day in the middle of a bike tour and working on fixing a few things on my bike. I visited/called more than 8 shops with no luck. I met Dave at Bicycle Pro Shop and after learning the shop did not have the part, he mentioned he had a used one at home. Later that evening, Dave met up with me and I got the part I needed to keep going the next day as planned. Really helpful and appreciated!

Andrew Moore: Absolutely great service from Garrett here. I’d been having an ongoing issue that another shop wasn’t able to identify or fix. It took Garrett minutes to figure it out and the bike is 100% again. Highly recommend.

fgjewett: Best shop in the DC area, I bought a road bike and had such a good experience that I bought a mountain bike there too. The staff are easygoing and knowledgeable; they are a great shop for the mid-to-High end merchandise. They’re not snobby or elitist like other high end places can be. Every purchase comes with a free fitting, which is a $100 value. They also provided free adjustments for a year which was great.

Jimmy Russell: We love the customer service very informative upfront and honest. Very impressed with the bike feels good rides smooth and good. Very light for a Hybrid Bicycle.

Vélocity Bicycle Cooperative: what do users think?

Stephanie Watson: Super friendly, knowledgeable staff, and fantastic experience! After explaining my bike needs, a specific bike was suggested perfect for my height. I took it for a little spin down the block and everything worked perfectly. I got to ride my new bike home and a great way to start the weekend!

A F: I’ve been coming here off and on for a decade or so and this is just about the best shop I’ve ever been to- not just for cycling, but for anything. Great people with a great mission, knowledgeable, fairly priced and very community oriented. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to donate, to buy a bike or cycling gear, or have work done, this is the place to go. I wish every shop was more like velocity

Rashawnda Watson: We came in prepared to purchase a bike today. Sadly, we were ignored. Then, to add insult to injury, we were directed outside “where the used bikes are”. Now I’m no bike salesman, but that can’t be a good sales pitch. You failed today, Velocity.

Duvalier Hernandez: Great spot, so many cool things going on. Its a bike geek dream, parts galore. Thanks to the team that saved my ride with an allen wrench to remove my pedals.

Mariam Gimbi: Wow highly respect well done, best customer service plus advise I saved almost a lot of money, @ the end I only paid $80.00, thanks again, for everything wish you the best, wow🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🙏👌👌👌💯💯💯💯

Takoma Bicycle: what do users think?

Rahwa: Highly recommend this shop. While I wasn’t able to find something that worked for my needs, Bruce was patient, knowledgable, friendly and thorough while I explained to him what I was looking for and helping me select bikes to try out.

Eric Weissman: This is a great local, independent bike shop with an attentive, talented staff. I have been taking my multiple bikes here over the years for complete tune-ups and on-the-fly adjustments. Yesterday I had a bit of grinding as I was biking into town, stopped by, and one of the mechanics cheerfully checked things over, cleaned the chain, lubed the gear rings, and sent me on my way after just a few minutes, with a bike that worked perfectly. Even if I had to travel some distance to go there, I would.

Krishna Bhavithavya Kidambi: I wanted a bike immediately and found this place online and went to see if they have any. I found one that I liked and they set it up in the next one hour and gave it to me. They were very friendly and they have nice collection. They said they do not have any riding groups though, which was disappointing. But the over all experience was pleasant.

Loren Shimanek: Fast, friendly and affordable. Needed a quality bike in a pinch, and I walked away a happy customer. They offer a year of tune-up services and recommend a 30-day "break-in" tune-up. A trust worthy local business perfect for families with kids.

Brian Hopkins: They do bike repairs but with limited hours. They still are open for retail. And they are amazing. Very quick, courteous, and professional.

Sam Allen: Very helpful and technicians are helpful

Bril A: Parking in back. Good prices for bike repair. Friendly service.

Ileana Schinder: Amazing service. Huge selection of products... and the friendliest crew in town. I highly recommend them even during this crazy period. Bruce took the time to talk to me on the phone, assembled the bike and had it ready in a day. I highly recommend this shop.

Phoenix Bikes: what do users think?

Amir Sajanie: I personally haven’t purchased anything yet from Phoenix but the associates there are nice and super informative. I spoke with Jonathan and he really took the time to go over the questions I was asking and helped me understand bikes better. Thank you for the awesome service and I will be back soon with Gods will!

Arren: Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Went in looking for a road bike and was able to try out several bikes to get a better understanding of the feel. I would definitely recommend coming here for used bikes since the parts and quality of the bike are overall great.

Robert Pelley: For sure my new community and goto bike shop. They hooked me up and had me back on the road in under 25 minutes. My bike felt brand new. Thanks!

Abigail B.Y.: I bought a Retrospec bicycle online and had a hard time putting it together, I called the company, and they suggested that I take my bike to Phoenix bicycles for Assembly, glad I did! Drop off was easy. I got a text message when it was ready, and the gentleman who checked me out helped me load the bicycle to my car. He also made sure that the seat fit my liking and that I was pleased with the assembly. Before my visit, I had called the shop several times to reschedule my appointment, and in each call, they were gracious and kind to me. I took my bike on the road yesterday, and I have no complaints.

Jake Tuber: As a new rider looking for my first road bike, I went to the right place. Despite the heavy Covid precautions they took, Liam did a terrific job explaining some of the basics to me and helping me try a few bikes. I bought a terrific refurbished bike in phenomenal condition. Highly recommend!

Sajjad Ahmad: I was in Arlington and had my bike on the rack. I saw the shop and randomly popped in to ask for help with my pedals. The staff quickly helped me and got me back on the road. Awesome shop and service

Rebecca Clement: These guys are awesome! I bought my current road bike from them a year ago and it’s been working great. They helped me install a bike rack at no cost and gave me great deals on bike repair tools. This is a great little place with friendly staff and good vibes. Plus I feel like my money is going to a good cause.

Griffin Cycle Inc: what do users think?

David Lipscomb: Griffin has made it easy and worry-free to own & commute via an electric bike. When I was shopping for an e-bike 2 and 1/2 years ago, I almost went the online route -- since there were/are cheaper, well-reviewed options out there. Fortunately, I realized I needed a reliable, local shop if I was going to sustain my move to bike commuting, beyond the purchase. For the past 2+ years -- even during the pandemic -- the staff at Griffin has supported me with tune-ups and tons of advice. Love walking in to that place. Great people.

Bernard Wagman: They were extremely helpful in fitting me with a new bicycle and gave a great follow up service. I have recommended them to others and plan to bring my family back in for more bicycles. Their service department is excellent as well. Very fair and accommodating

Steven Tender: Great independent bike store. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Go there for bike service, you will not be disappointed. 💯🚴‍♂️

Anthony Lentine: Every time that I go there, I get help, good advice and quick service. Last time I was having trouble with my right shifting mechanism that I have never experienced. Bert took my bike and with the cold weather, the grease was so thick the shift would not engage; a new one for me. He quickly fixed the defect and I was on my way. The store is a true warm spot for all levels of cyclist. Thanks for being there!

Frank Pawlicki: the bike rental was handled very professionally. the bike was prepped with the proper SPD peddles when i arrived to pick the bike up, i was fitted, and given directions regarding local cycling routes. the bike performed well through out the week averaging 40 miles a day on the local ride routes. bike return was handled equally well. One issue that did come up was the lack of a flat kit with a pump or CO2 for refilling the flat tire, turns out it was a new employee education issue. it was a great experience.

Jacques Taty: Great staff.. highly knowledgeable, patient, friendly and extremely professional.I recommend them strongly. We are a biking family of 4 and Griffin is our one stop shop for everything bike related.

Diane Weil: I have been a customer at Griffin Cycles for years. They have always had great customer service and do an excellent job with bike repair service. Recently I ordered a small top tube bag that had to be specially ordered from a store in California because the company is no longer widely distributing them, and they were "right on it !" Thanks Griffin Cycles ! Diane Weil Bethesda, Maryland

Valerie Rouxel-Laxton: Hi! I love my bike and cycling has become a second nature to me. Whenever it needs a tune-up, Griffin cycle has been my go-to for a number of years. Service is top notch, folks are extremely courteous and I always walk out with great additional advice. Way to go!

Nomad BicycleWorks Mobile Bike Repair: what do users think?

Meredith Jensen: Incredible service and quick response time! Omar is so friendly and flexible, accommodating to my schedule changes last second. My bike looks and feels brand new and the tune up barely lasted an hour! As a new bike owner, I had a lot of basic questions but Omar patiently answered them all without making me feel uneducated. Highly highly recommend!!

Robert “Bo” Stearman: Wow! What a service! Omar: knowledgeable, trustworthy, and professional. New client here and could not be more impressed. You know how you feel when a service is done right? I feel that way now! Assessed issues with my bike quickly and efficiently. Communication top notch. All in all great experience. Apologies bike shops you just lost a client. Work with Omar it is great.

Nikki Kasparek: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueWorking with Omar was great. He was very responsive to my email and scheduled an appointment to repair my bike very quickly. He was on time for our appointment and charged very reasonable prices for his work. I plan to use Omar for all of my bike repair needs!

Leila Lucas: Omar was awesome. Great communication leading up to the appt. During the appointment, he was efficient and made sure I understood exactly what he did to get my bike up and running. I really appreciated his patience with all of my questions and am very excited to have a working bike again!

Asha Singh: Omar was awesome. He cleared up what the service was before the appointment, confirmed the time and details both by text and as he was getting started, and set up right outside my door. Service was very quick and he made sure I tested everything before he left. So glad I booked him. Bike rides like a dream!

Andrew Byrd: Highly recommend Nomad Bicycle repair! I purchased a new e-bike that came dissembled, Omar set up outside my home and took care to assemble my bike and review everything that I would need to know as a new rider. He also gave me tips and tricks to successfully maintain the bike as well. Overall, Omar is really kind, responsive, knowledgeable and provides a great service for a competitive price.

Marianna De Souza: Excellent job! Omar was super helpful and flexible in terms of communication and scheduling. My bike was set up so quickly and smoothly. Highly recommend him.

Kelly Orzechowski: Wonderful experience! Super convenient. Omar was extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy and very quick to respond. My bike looks fantastic! I highly, highly recommend him.

Ryan Hamilton: Absolutely excellent! My hybrid bike gearing got wrecked in a windstorm, so I needed a new rear derailleur, shifter, chain installation and all-around tune-up. After taking the bike to another mechanic in town who did a shoddy repair, I reached out to Omar, based on a recommendation from a good friend and mountain biking enthusiast. I ordered a few replacement parts on Amazon and scheduled service through the Nomad Bicycle Works website. Omar was super reliable, professional, friendly, trustworthy, and supportive and had a great passion for bikes. And very convenient. He came early to the job and got the entire job done while I drank my morning coffee. I was back up and rolling in about an hour, all before my morning meetings at work. When the job was done, Omar suggested I take a test ride and to push every gear of the bike pretty hard, just to test things out. The thing rode perfectly, even better than when the bike was originally built, and the gearing was flawlessly dialed-in. He also gave good recommendations for other upgrades and services I might consider in the future. I was so satisfied with the service, I gave him a tip. I look forward to getting ALL of my bikes serviced by this guy.

Washington Area Bicyclist Association: what do users think?

Nozipho Dube: Had a great 3 hour lesson with Chuck, Kristi, Allison, and Mike. The class size approx. 15 people at different level of skill. The instructors did a good job of splitting us up based on skill set and moving us up based on our progress. It was a great class.

Karen Brown: I had a horrible experience with WABA. It is not worth $85.00 to learn how to ride a bike. The instructors were very hands off and my husband had to assist my daughter in learning how to ride. Then the instructor tells us my daughter should come back and pay another $85.00. I was underwhelmed with what I saw. Additionally, I received a harassing email that was very inappropriate from Syndney Sotelo, WABA Director about my husband assisting my daughter when she was struggling in learning how to ride. Stay woke everyone $85.00 to be hands off is never acceptable. It’s a rip off.

Bayley Vanderpoel: Great organization doing God’s work. More bike lanes now!

Michelle Minstrell: Great resources for area cyclists, advocates for biking safety, bike lanes

Aries Keck: Love them

Trek Bicycle Arlington Clarendon: what do users think?

RigGarage 22: I arrived to this Trek Bike Shop and was greeted by this nice lady that helped me with getting the bike I reserved for. I test rode it and was ready for purchase. Kevin the manager went above and beyond in helping me with the purchase process and gave me a beyond my expectation welcome! It is truly sad they are located so far away! I felt like I was their cared customer and treated me like I was their customer for many years! Such an awesome team and there was another great guy I forgot his name I think it was Jeff he did a fine job in tuning up my bike before I took it home. I am so excited of my New Marlin 8 Red and I want to thank from the bottom of my heart to Kevin and his Amazing team!!! Bless you all!

Lisa Young: The employees at the Clarendon store were super friendly and helpful. They walked me through when I should service my bike and how often my tires may wear based on the area I ride in. I purchased a new saddle, which was installed on the spot. Plus they gave me great tips on how to properly set the saddle. Great service and great experience!

Wesley Price: The staff at this store is extremely kind and knowledgeable. I was on the fence about which bike to select, so Kevin allowed me to test ride the bikes as much as I wanted in order to decide. The team even swapped the stock stem on one bike so I could test it out. Kevin made selecting new bikes fun and easy for both me and my wife. We will definitely be back in for service and accessories when the time comes!

Michael Salter: The Trek Clarendon service department always provides top notch professional service. They are tenacious to handle even the really tricky problems that involve troubleshooting older model bikes and they communicate clearly and openly throughout the entire process. I really appreciate all they have done for me and are the only bike shop I recommend to my friends. Thank you!

B Chisholm: I pulled my bike out of storage and realized someone in my building had dented my handle bar inward and my breaks weren’t working. The guys at the shop fixed it in literally 2 minutes complimentary like it was nothing. I had already filed an insurance claim expecting a $100+ fee. I’ll definitely be back. Great customer service.

JJ L: Very good customer service by staff that had very good knowledge about their products. Store seemed to have a good selection of bikes. Overall, had a very good experience purchasing a bike. Definitely would recommend.

Thomas Gelson: World-class service! I took my Trek 9.9 Speed Concept into Trek Clarendon for a major service overhaul. It has traveled all over the world with me in the past years as I am an avid triathlete. It needed some love after many miles of training and racing in all sorts of terrain & weather. An awesome bike, but quite involved with Di2 groupset, etc. John and his service team were top-notch in reviewing with me their recommendations of what had to be done. They then did the work in a meticulous and timely matter to make the bike look and feel brand new. Thus, resounding 5-stars and I highly recommend them.

Adrian Ferrufino: I started Cycling a little over a month ago, been to a handful of bike stores and this is by far the absolute best. Zero pressure to buy anything from anyone. They all just want to help you. Kevin has been a great help with tons of great Information as has Alex. Everyone there has outstanding customer service and they are always so welcoming and take the time to answer all of your questions no matter how simple they may be. Update June 2020- about 12 months since my first purchase from them. Well I wish I could re-rate this with 10 stars. A lot of places will be good to you when you buy something then forget about you, this is NOT one of them. No matter what I need or how many times I go in to annoy them with a questions everyone, and I mean everyone, is always so eager to help. They have helped friends of mine get bikes and their experience and comments back to me are never anything but positive. This is truly one of the best, if not the best bike store in this area. I live less than half a mile from another bike store and rather drive the 20 minutes (or ride) to come here and get what I need. Alex, Kevin, Jeff and anyone else you encounter in that store will do everything they can to help you with whatever you need. If you want a bike or need service or accessories I would not go anywhere else.

REI Co-op: what do users think?

Michael Brown: As a company, REI should not inflict their political beliefs onto customers. That said, they carry good gear and this particular location is fantastic. Every time I have come here they have exactly what I need. The staff are friendly and helpful and generally knowledgeable. I don’t know who makes REI branded clothes and gear, but they do a good job.

Mike R: I like this store for so many reasons. First: they have excellent customer service. Today I walked in with my bike to get my flat tire fixed. A woman approached me and signed me in. Then a man walked up to me and asked if I would like to him to park my bike. I was appalled by this gesture. Second: This establishment has everything here. I mean like… leave that bike area if you want to. You will be buying anything from energy gel to underwear. Third: conveniently located right beside the metro.

Anne Probst: Thank you Jeremy in cycling for taking care of my bike I commute on. Haley assisted and was down to earth and happy. High five to Micah in footwear who helped me find a size in a scarpa I haven’t been able to find in stores in 4 years. He’s super knowledgeable and was connecting with all the customers. Thank you REI DC!

H Gill: Great store! love REI… but checking out here is always a 15 min wait. The checkout line moves at a snail’s pace, and the managers/supervisors don’t seem to care. I’ve seen customers put items down and leave out of frustration.

Rebecca Tolbert: Generally a good store, but the parking situation is currently very weird. You park in the parking deck and then have to walk all the way around a whole city block because they have blocked off the elevator and stairs. So, you drive into the parking deck and then have this surprise journey ahead of you, through a sketchy alley and everything. Just wanted to give other customers a heads up!

R: Oddly enough they aren’t dog friendly yet I saw a pitbull walking around without a service vest. The area around is horrendous, good luck finding a parking spot. Really disappointed that REIs aren’t dog friendly yet their competitors REI and Bass Pro is.

Bogi Yohannes: Many thanks to Tim in the bike repair department for excellent work fixing my brake line and coming up with an alternate way to fix my broken basket being held by zip ties.Tim took the time to really give great customer service and make it an amazing experience.Thank you Tim and REI for the best bike department. You guys rock to keep us rolling.

Pedego Electric Bikes Alexandria: what do users think?

jim shanks: Todd and his staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable on the electric bikes. Great customer service and no pressure at all on buying. They did an excellent job educating us on using the first ebike that we purchased. Will definitely highly recommend to family and friends!!

Alexis McVey: Todd was amazing with teaching us how to use the electric bikes and how to navigate riding in town and down Mt Vernon trail. Renting bikes and riding the trail was the highlight of our trip. Todd is the nicest guy and would recommend his shop to everyone !

Thomas Allen: Todd went above and beyond to help me experience an amazing bike ride to Mt. Vernon. What a treat to be given such excellent customer service! He deserves more than five stars!

McKinney Monica: Shout out to Todd at Pedigo! Had called to tentatively schedule a tour for friends visiting from out of town. Unfortunately one of the participants was not feeling well and needed to reschedule. I had completely forgotten that we had discussed a couple of potential dates and Todd called as a follow up. Didn’t make the tour, but the fact that he called to touch base…if the customer service is an indication of the tour-WE can’t wait! If this is something you are interested in, definitely contact them.

jeremy lippman: Fabulous experience. Took the water taxi over and test drove my first ebike. Todd, and his staff, were super friendly and very knowledgeable. They have bikes to buy, rent or test drive for enthusiasts of all ages, sizes, and experience.

Chris Langford: Our family of four rented bikes from Todd, the owner, on a whim to do a ride out to Mount Vernon, and we had a blast! Todd was absolutely fantastic; not only did he do an excellent job educating us on using his bikes, but he also gave us some great tips for our trip. We highly recommend Pedego of Alexandria. Note, our child was under 14, and so we got a two-seater Tandem, and we had no problems at all.
