Residence Inn by Marriott Washington, DC Downtown: what do users think?

Alyssa Sciannella: The room was perfectly clean and had everything we needed. The staff was kind, friendly, and helpful when we arrived. We were given clear instructions about self parking, which was helpful. The breakfast was better than expected, and had gluten-free options to accommodate my food allergy. At check-out, the doormen were kind enough to stack our belongings on a rolling cart and bring it out to my car without us having to ask. They really went above and beyond to make us comfortable.

Brent: Great hotel. We stayed in a suite which was great value! The room was clean, love the small kitchen which was useful! The location of the hotel was great - really close to the metro station and the staff were super friendly. The downsides of the the pressure of the tap sink wasn’t strong, there wasn’t a kettle or teabags and no bathroom robe was provided. Otherwise would recommend.

Chris Saslo: Truly appreciate the convenience of this hotel. Staff are always kind and professional. Closet space is a challenge as suits and shirts stick out beyond the doors making the closet suboptimal. They still have not reinstated full maid service yet so you have to ask for coffee, Towels etc. Otherwise the hotel is one of my preferred despite other Marriots in the city having more amenities overall.

Alfonso A. Rivera Cordero: It worth every penny. The included breakfast it was a mega plus. Thanks to the associates that make the breakfast everyday. You deserve all the Credit. The locaction was perfect for our visit to all the national mall. The CVS on the same building was awesome to have. 15 minutes from all the sights and very easy to walk around. The room was phenomenal, the only thing was the touch paint in room you can notice was the wrong gloss and the thermostat was so far from the actual vents area it can get warm enough that bother. But other than that was great stay.

Tsukiko: Can not say enough good things about this place. Sheriden is the nicest, most amazing person. She always has pets for my little dogs and I know they make her day. William, Kyle, and Dylan are also incredible people. Kyle is my service dog’s favorite new friend. I’ve never seen her warm up to anyone so quickly. Everyone at the front desk also loves my best friend’s dog Cap. He always gets so excited to see whoever is working when we come down. The staff here are all wonderful people and have helped make the last 9 months amazing.

Kristina. Lumapas: Overall everything was great from check-in to checkout. Room was clean, bathroom felt luxurious and kitchen was fully equipped. The only downside was the bed size. We booked a room with king bed and what we got was a queen. We reported this to front desk and they insisted that it was their king size bed. I couldn’t be wrong with the size since we have a regular king bed at home, not even a California king bed, and theirs was just too small, I’m very sure it was a queen. If you’ll get assigned to room 1010, don’t expect a king bed, it’s just too small. My husband slept on the couch since me, our preschooler and him couldn’t fit.

Nicole Laskin: Highly recommended. Really enjoyed our stay here. Came to DC for the first time, and loved the convenient access to the green line metro. It made it very easy to navigate the city. The room was clean and plenty of space for just the two of us. Price is reasonable for a big city. Would recommend and definitely would stay again.

MR. MiIosz: Disappointed. I was really excited to stay here as the hotel is fairly new and the pictures looked really nice. However, this hotel has not been kept up well. Many stains on the couch and the bedside table had many scratches.Have stayed in older hotels that had better upkeep. Their measurements are also off. Their standard suite was NOT 471 sq feet, maybe 371 and the bed was a Queen not a King. Dishonest! If they were honest about the room and bed size, it would be a 3 or maybe a 4 but the false advertising needs to be noted.

Albert Wu: Modern, new looking, well designed business hotel just adjacent to the convention center. All of the staff is very friendly, nice, and efficient. Pillows are fluffy. Beds are comfortable. I had a satisfying stay to visit relatives for a few days at this hotel. Rooftop access is very nice. The scenery on top is not exactly spectacular but it feels good to relax in the comfortable furniture and enjoy outdoor air on rooftop. A lot of TV options in the room. Somehow casting from iphone doesn’t work. The website mentioned in the instructions doesn’t work. A technician tried to come to help but I think it is a website issue and not a hardware issue in the room. Breakfast area is cozy and breakfast wait staff is highly courteous. However, the breakfast food variety and quality is not better than in lower end hotels though.

Chyna Westfall: We had a great stay while in DC. We stayed for 4 days. The room though a little dated was very clean and housekeeping was awesome. The staff were very accommodating and welcoming. Complementary breakfast had a good selection. We did not try the restaurant. Being located on the 12th floor directly under the fitness center was a minus because we could hear banging from the equipment throughout the night. The fan on the HVAC system also never shuts off regardless of how you adjust the thermostat and the room seemed to always be hotter than the thermostat was set. Overall good place to stay though!

Mauricio Flores: Hotel is located in a very good location, rooms are wide and open, but they have some issues that I will number as follow: 1. They limit you on your Air conditioner thermostat, your AC won’t go down in temperature more than 72-73ish. How I know that?, I travel a lot and have with me 3 different thermometer which I position in different places in the room, and they never came down in temperature of 72 F, When I have set my room’s thermostat at 65. I pay for Ac and they limit your temperature to save $10 2. Curtain’s shower smelled like mold or not clean. That’s a -3 points for me. 3. Room’s Tv won’t work, It was resetting every 30-45 seconds itself. 4. Parking is about $50 per night. Otherwise, breakfast was serve as every other Residence Inn in the country.

Mohamed Aburadi: I had a fantastic stay at the Residence Inn in DC/Capitol. I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and amenities in the rooms. The ladies at the front desk were very kind and extremely helpful. They explained everything amazingly and made our stay very enjoyable! The hotel was within walking distance from the main attractions. I highly recommend this location and will return to this location in the future.

Elizabeth Long: Very nice hotel, excellent location and amazing value. Check in was a breeze and staff was super friendly. Breakfast is great even during Covid times, they still have a full hot breakfast. Parking can be tricky but we found a couple of spots upon our late night return.

Jenny Teng: Conveniently located that we could walk to our points of interests in DC. Great value for our stay of 3 nights. Room was clean and spacious. Due to a tall building across the street, our room was a bit dim even with all lights on. Nice staff and good service. Breakfast was good.

James Stewart Jr: Landed in this hotel as part of a larger group reservation, and only because somebody else canceled. I hit the jackpot! Prior to arrival spoke with Louise (I believe), manager who assisted me with an issue with reservation. Could not have been any more helpful ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Checked in on 5/14, clerk Jackie I believe, just PERFECT, polite, helpful, parking tips, just a great asset to Residence Inn ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Room-Top-Notch! Full size fridge, microwave, dishwasher, plates, utensils, big screen TV, strong water pressure in the shower, zero complaints⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great, free, hot, buffet style breakfast too! 12 minute walk to US Capitol building. Highly recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Serelle Taylor: Check in was smooth, easy and staff was friendly. Our room was clean. Thos hotel is so close to everything. I would 100% stay here again with family and kids. Easy access to National monuments, transportation and restraunts. My son enjoyed the pool. Breakfast was good. I was hesitant from reading previous reviews, but I can assure you our stay was great!

Edgardo Honda: The property is worn out. It needs a top to bottom update. The beds are very soft provides no support and out backs hurt in the morning. The a/c is motion sensitive and it stops cooling at night and woke up sweating. The bathroom toiletries are cheap. Other Marriott hotels have very nice toiletries. We even found a roach. I love Marriott hotels and go out to the way to stay with them buy this one has been forgotten by the company.

Kurniawan Fahmi: The hotel located near the office, DC Metro in Dupont Circle, qnd the moat important thing is halal food restaurant ... less than 5 minute walk. Visit this location on May 2022 The American beeakfast provide variance of bread, eggs, beverages, and 1 fresh fruit. The service is good. Room is large, equipped with large tv, microwave, kitchen utensil, and large refrigerator. But they do not provide daily cleaning. Hotel also provide guest laundry in 4th and 8th floor. The staff namely Mauricio explained me in detail on how to operate it. And provode the coin change.

Aubrey Peterson: My parents stayed here while visiting, and it was an easy, central location. The room was clean and spacious, and we had a nice time enjoying dinner together inside the room when our reservation was cancelled due to a windstorm. I also called in regards to blocking rooms for an event and the head of sales, Robin, was so kind and warm. She really made my day and was exceptionally helpful!

Haf A: The Staff were excellent and made our stay very comfortable. We had a specialty vehicle and Muricio assisted to where we can park safely out back. Karen was great with hotel extension. Seviye was very friendly and felt I had family there. The Hotel is near everything, especially coffee lovers with several options. Food Galore of different types in the area of your favorite food or Discover new favorites as I did.

Zorina Pop: 5 days no cleaning service, pullout couch was unusable, stained sheets, noisy pipes. Great front desk service. Great location.

Jessica Poku: I enjoyed my stay. Full service apartment hotel. Lots of storage and great lighting. Good options for breakfast and nice location. Service was average though, none of the staff were warm or pleasant, except for the bellmen/doormen. Also no recognition or upgrade for Titanium elite. They also posted my stay wrongly and generated an incorrect folio. I left some items there that I intend to collect, and I’m hoping they take care of them in their lost/found till I can.

Ashley A: The hotel from the start was wonderful everyone was kind and very helpful. The complimentary breakfast was very delicious, I totally recommend the waffles, the rooms were clean and everything was organized, there was nothing wrong with the room. Good tv, good beds, a nice table A big fridge and freezer. Definitely something not common in all hotels, would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that is planning a trip to DC!

MarcyRobert Monasky: Clean rooms with kitchenette. Excellent location near bus stop. A great hot breakfast including eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, oatmeal, juice and of course hot coffee. There are also gluten-free options for pastries.

Dhruv S: Staff was very friendly, had my car in valet for a whole week and they always took care of me! I had my dog there and he very very much enjoyed the stay and The Yards out front made it even more pet friendly! The clean renovated spacious rooms to the AMAZING shower pressure, I have nothing but great remarks for this hotel.

Tracy H: The pros: -Great location to metro, eateries, George Washington University, the hospital, Whole Foods -great breakfast options -comfy bed! Slept great! The cons: -majority of personnel needs a LOT of customer service training! I have NEVER been talked to so rudely as I was at this Marriott! Flabbergasted!! I’ve been exclusive Marriott customer since 1988! This personnel needs an overhaul (not all but most!!) -needs a remodel (lobby has current decor), but the rooms and hallways - EEK!! Very dark, dim and dank. Furniture is large and bulky, very 1980s-1990s feel. -breakfast is quickly put away, and depending on who is manning the breakfast, it may or may not be refilled or refreshed 30 mins before closing it down. I’m simply talking coffee here!! Unacceptable! Very rude when asked about refilling coffee urn! -bathroom was ridiculously small! Room spacious, bathroom - barely room for one, quite awkward set up ***main tip*** Lock up everything of value in your room or take it with you!! Hopefully your safe works (ours did not). Unfortunately, there seems to be at least one bad apple in a position that has access to keys! Be advised! I would not stay here again.
Response: Thank you for your recent feedback. We do apologize that you were unhappy. We thrive to give all our guests a great experience and we apologize for not been able to provide you with one.

James Rose: Rooms are very spacious. Carpets show alot of wear in the room. Obviously this is an older building but they have done well maintaining it. Staff was very polite and located in quiet area. For the $ I would definitely stay here again. Especially compared to what I pd at other places in DC during my stay here.

Ron Milkowski: Great location to GWU and Foggy Bottom Metro stop. Room was spacious. Bathroom was small but it served its purpose. Breakfast was not very good. Seemed like everything was pre made and warmed. Made my own breakfast in my kitchenette seeing Whole Foods was a 5 minute walk away. I found the team to be nothing but nice. No issues whatsoever. On-site Parking is tight. Only a few spots available in their underground parking. Call ahead. Would recommend Foggy Bottom Residence Inn and will be staying there again.
Response: We appreciate you sharing your feedback and hope we have the opportunity to host you again in the future!

Carol Aguilar: I have stayed here numerous times. Easy walk to grocery and restaurants. Washer/dryer available and supplies for purchase at the front desk. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is back, now hopefully the evening snack will follow soon.
Response: We appreciate you sharing your feedback and hope we have the opportunity to host you again in the future!

Jason Barrett: The staff all have Aspergers. They are unable to communicate properly and they have no care or concern for the guests. They gave our room away, forcing 4 of us to sleep in one bed and told us to leave our car in a loading zone when they ran out of space. There are tents with transients around the hotel, yelling at all hours and in your face. There is no housekeeping unless you go out of your way to request it. The hotel should be renamed the Bates Motel.

Diane McCarthy: Very clean, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet, quiet. The most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The negatives: No maid service- had to request towels and empty garbage bins at the desk- but they did respond quickly. The parking prices are crazy. You’re paying decent money to stay there, they need to adjust the parking fees to cut the cost atleast in half. I would definitely stay there again.

Dottie “Dottie” Mount: Everyone there was excellent! A very seamless experience and no problems whatsoever, despite the snow and all of the chaos outside. The hotel offers a comfortable experience. A room with a nice view and amenities. In a most convenient location!

Rajagopalan Viswanathan: I am a great fan of Marriott hotels because of their standard beds & Pillows and service. I always chose to book in a Marriott hotel to stay overnight to have comfortable sleep to get refreshed for the next day. I traveled with my family and booked Studio; 2 King in “Residence Inn by Marriott Arlington Capital View”. It’s not worth the money. The quality of the Bed & Pillows is not up to Marriott’s standards. A/C is a disaster, it was installed right on the top of the bed’s headboard and the A/C vent airflow was right in my face. I had a tough time getting sleep that night. The bathroom looks 20 years old and needs to be renovated; Breakfast was ok. On top of $200+ tax /day room, parking fees are additional, Self-parking is $37 & Valet is $42. Overall, $270 for an overnight stay with these standards, is not worth the money. For Arlington stay, I don’t recommend this hotel, rather book some other hotels (Other brands) that provide better comfort and service for half of this price.

Scott Garland: This is an amazing hotel. The rooms are large, nice and quiet. The staff is accommodating. They area is getting better quickly with many nearby dining options and a couple grocery stores in easy walking distance. The airport is very close, and they have a shuttle that goes twice an hour.

Richard BREAKIRON: I really enjoyed my stay here and will likely make it one of my go to hotels going forward. Nice rooms, great lobby and well above average hotel breakfast. What worked best for me was the great availability to on street parking at a reasonable rate!

Rubén García: They charged me for a smoking fee when I never smoked in the room. Charge was made more than a week after when they made the “discovery” in the room of a “strong odor” do you really expect me to believe this? They are clearly scamming people with these charges. Tried to contact customer service and the hotel and the information is very contradictory and unhelpful. Avoid this hotel at all costs! You don’t want a surprise $250 charge weeks later claiming you smoked there…

Tiffany Pinckney: Absolute Perfection! Lourdes at the front desk is so amazing! The Customer service, breakfast, location and rooms were just the absolute best! I really enjoyed the stay, thank you.

bEp pen: Excellent location only minutes to Rosslyn Metro station. About an 8-10 minute walk. Starbucks and Safeway are very close and within walking distance. Nice neighborhood. I got a one bedroom, and it was perfect for our family of 4. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff was accommodating and friendly to any needs we had. I will stay again.

Promiti Ghose: We had a great stay at the Marriott as we usually too. Only noticed that their breakfast options have reduced greatly and not a lot of variety. Otherwise it is still maintained and clean. The maintain vivid restrictions as much as possible but mask wearing is not compulsory in common areas

Ashish Gupta: Location: This hotel is right across from Washington monuments. Really convenient. I kept my car parked at the hotel and took the train to DC to see attractions. Rosslyn train station is about 4 minutes walk from the hotel Parking: Parking is paid and costs about $25/day. Pretty standard for all hotels in the area Staff: Helpful and coureous staff Breakfast: I stayed there for 5 days and all 5 days breakfast was exactly the same. They repeated scrambled eggs and sausage and after a while it became boring. I wish they change things around. Overall good and healthy breakfast if you are staying there for less time Gym: There is a gym but it is small Rooms: Rooms are decent size given the location and the kitchen had everything you would need to cook a quick meal Overall a good option if you want to stay close to Washington DC.

Christian Ardito: The Residence Inn Rosslyn definitely needs some urgent remodeling (more on that later) but offers larger than average rooms for the area, and super friendly and courteous staff. The hotel manager, Ms. Flavia, is very attentive, professional and kind. In addition, it’s the only hotel in the area, among the ones I’ve stayed at so far, that offers smart TV connectivity to watch Netflix and YouTube. Now regarding the need for renovation - the hotel shows its age and need for repairs both outside and inside. The carpets are old, the furniture is old, and the decor is extremely outdated. In fact, every hotel I’ve stayed at in this area is old and outdated but this Residence Inn needs attention more urgently. Having said all that, if you just need a place to sleep, it’s a good option mainly due to the lack of real competition.

Angie Dee: Great place to stay if you’re in town for business. They help with package deliveries. But the staff have to catch up with times on communication. I called with a typical guest request and was met with a lot of “no that’s not possible” but when I pressed and got the right person the restriction was lifted. Also in stead of calling me or chatting through the Marriot App, the staff member emailed me a time sensitive answer that got lost amongst other Marriot emails. I would still give this place another opportunity if need be due to location. Post-Covid Marriot sadly is not what it used to be. Costed me an extra nights stay.

shadow E: Staff at front desk were super friendly when we checked in. Room was nice and a good size. Parking was behind the building across the street. Only bad parts that took a star away was the counter of the kitchen in our room was sticky, we found a few hairs on the bathroom counter and in a towel, and there was no dish soap to wash dishes, only the machine soap for the dishwasher. Would stay here again!

Tina Weiss: I would highly recommend this hotel. It is clean, in a great location and the service is excellent from the front desk to housekeeping. Staff members at the front desk, Ryan and Nicole were excellent from check in to check out. Rooms are very nice, really enjoyed the studio suite. Definitely will return to this hotel.

MIB Orthodontics: At check in the staff says to everyone that house keeping us suspended unless you stay 7 days or more. We are staying 7 days , but they still declined housekeeping. She kept saying housekeeping will only clean the room id we are staying 7 days or more… Most good hotels have resumed their housekeeping. Seems like this place does not take pride in hospitality. Either be hospitable or don’t be in the hospitality business.

93svx: The breakfast is great, you have different options each day. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful! The hospitality here is that of a 5 star resort! I would stay here everytime I come to the DC area and always recommend it.

Karl Richards: This is a nice clean hotel with friendly staff. I’m giving the hotel a two star review though because of the noisy heating and air-conditioning used. This is a pet peeve of mine, but I really hate hotel rooms with very noisy heat pumps. It makes it hard to sleep and darn near impossible to have a web meeting in the room without turning off heating or cooling.

Chase Plumbers: If I could give no stars I would. We are staying for 7 days with kids with no house kipping. I can respect covid policies along with lack of people working at house kipping, but their black on white writing sais "at least one house keeping if you are staying 7 days" We called and visited the front desk several times just to be told it is coming and nothing ever happened. On the last night we are being told that house kipping will be performed tomorrow when we are checking out... Really? If you are here on business give it a try, but if you are here with your family, unless you like paying top dollar for their top 10% rates and living like a PIG for 7 days, STAY AWAY!

Carolyn Ballard: My husband and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary, and my sister-n-law celebrated her 70th birthday on the same day, March 31st. My bestie of 55 years, who lives in DC, met us and spoiled us this weekend. The hotel staff was amazing, service was outstanding. Every employee so considerate and personal. Location perfect for all we wanted to do!

Olga Bergelson: Horrible experience overall, paid $700 a night for 7 days yet no house keeping, bathroom flooding due to cheap shower curtains, poor service, broken glass yet no one want to vacuum floors and lack of basic customer service. Stay elsewhere or better air bnb as this is not up to par to prices being asked.

M. Serkan Akturk: Great hotel and great staff. I stayed at this hotel with my family for three days and it was a great experience. The location is excellent with all the restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. The breakfast has great options and “Dave” runs the breakfast area like his own kitchen. Thanks Residence Inn for this great experience! Will definitely be back for future stays!

Teri Boland: We stayed for 3 nights and had a great experience. Front desk staff were always helpful, going above and beyond. Room, as well as kitchen, was clean, with lots of space. Comfortable bed-we both slept well, all night long Great shops and restaurants just steps away. So close to Metro, which was perfect for getting to the sites in DC.

Lorrie Landrum: I would recommend this hotel to all. The location was GREAT! Close to shopping, food, transportation and really anything else you would need/want. The staff was very friendly and they took care of anything we needed. We rented out two of the 2 bedroom suites for our large group and they were absolutely perfect!

David Powers: Great location for everything downtown Arlington. Close walk to restaurants. Staff was friendly and Dave served up a wonderful breakfast. I want to take a shower and long black hairs everywhere 😩. So damm gross, not even sure they cleaned the shower after the last guest checked out! Another recent disappointment with a Marriott property 😕!

Yuki Zhou: I rented out 1bedroom suite for my family, it’s fit for family trip.I would recommend this hotel to all. The location was good. Close to shopping, food, transportation and really anything else you would need/want. Breakfast was good, staffs were very friendly.

Carole Goldman: Lovely lobby and check in very prompt. No indication upon making reservations charge for parking. Breakfast very fresh and nice room for starting morning. Area very convenient for sitting outside and walking around.

Trese Briggs: The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast spread was nice... eggs, potatoes sausage and pastries. Sad to have to use valet parking but there really is no other option available. It would have been nice if it were included in the cost of the room with an option to tip the attendant. All in all it was a great stay.

Liza M: I love this place. LOVE. You could maybe choose a newer place but that would be a loss. So comfortable, quiet, clean, and also caring staff. I appreciate the details of the spacious rooms, and miss them when we stay elsewhere. Great location. Caring, efficient, welcoming staff. I can’t say enough nice things about this hotel. I wish this was the only hotel I ever had to stay in. Breakfast area and spread is peerless, excellent and kind staff there as well. The rooftop pool (when open) is a delight, so are the views up there, open seasonally.

Joyce Griffin: Very nice and clean. Full kitchen, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, stove, garbage disposal, and large shower gel, shampoo, conditioner in bathroom. All the amenities of a home away from home for a short term. No free parking for residence. Steep at $27 over night. Staying a few days so a bit pricey to me. There was a stale odor on entering room. Staff very accommodating and friendly.

Matt Vilardebo: A great hotel located in a perfect area. I love the rooms as they are large and accommodating. The rooms are always clean and the staff has been top notch. Would absolutely recommend this location.

Mars Salcie-Gautreaux: This hotel is strongly mid. The staff is ok but I’m a titanium elite which is the second highest status and I struggle to understand why my treatment wasn’t better. No one acknowledged my status (they’re supposed to), didn’t get special treatment for it (also supposed to). Our rooms were pretty basic but the cooking wear is really really old. The breakfast was ok, most of the items were very salty and for whatever reason, they hid the wheat bread. I’m used to wayyyyyy better service in 2/3 star hotels. The front desk didn’t explain my benefits. I asked to have my bags held for two weeks (as I come into town every two weeks) and was told no, even though pretty much every other hotel I’ve been to has stated yes, there were no free bottles of water at the front. Also the elevator has been broken for four months and there is not effort to repair it. The location is cool, but I would rather just stay at the Residence Inn in Gaithersburg if service is going to be less than great.

Wendy C: Sadly this is a barely 3 star review. The hotel was clean, the suite was nice, and the location was great. However, one of the elevators is out of service (for quite some time apparently from other reviews) and the wait times for an elevator could be long. I waited over 5 min standing in the hall for an elevator to breakfast. So add an extra 10 minutes if you need to be anywhere. The WiFi was sloooooooow. It was difficult to stay connected to a zoom call for work - I ended up having to call in on my phone. And then there were multiple people knocking on my door (with the do not disturb hanger on it) the last day asking when I was going to check out, interrupting my work calls. So if you want or need to work - I’d say find somewhere else.
