The Rooftop DC: what do users think?
MEVR3E
MEVR3E: Pricey but you get what you pay for. I like the ambiance— would recommend this spot to catch up w friends or couples. I felt comfortable spending a few hours here, and enjoyed the personalities and service of the bartenders. I will be back again to make use of the happy hour specials.
Response: Thank you for leaving a thorough and honest review!! We are a new bar and intend to keep on improving , feel free to email us with any suggestions at therooftopdc@gmail.com! Our happy hour is the best in the area!
Epic Work
Epic Work: Nice setup and ambience aesthetic wise but bartender service is trash with non friendly attitudes. Therefore management of it is trash for allowing it. They walk back and forth ignoring you as if they have better things to do even with only 2 people there. Not ever again
Lindsay Peters
Lindsay Peters: The view and atmosphere was great for an early spring day! There is limited seating at the rooftop edge. The prices are slightly higher though happy hour cocktails are 50% off (4-7pm). I had the pork tacos and they were super delicious. There is an automatic 20% gratuity applied.
Response: Thank you Lindsay for taking the time to leave a review! Come back for our new 50% off happy hour on Sundays from 1PM to 7PM!
Zahra Amiji
Zahra Amiji: Literally the worst rooftop experience of my life. Went during the so called "happy hour" where drinks are supposed to be 50% off and was charged full price for multiple drinks ($18+). Also, had to wait 45 minutes to be served at the bar. Would not recommend this rooftop at all. Try a different place for a better DC experience.
Response: Zahara was refunded** Hello Zahara, so sorry to hear of this mistake. We would like to make this right— please email your name to therooftopdc@gmail.com so we can correct your bill. We are a new bar and intend to keep on improving. We are making sure there will not be a long wait in the future. Thank you for letting us know, once again we would like to make this right.
Daniel X. Bandong
Daniel X. Bandong: Great vibe! Staff was very attentive and a great menu. Had a great work Happy Hour with a fantastic space. However, no beers on draught; hopefully that changes soon!
Response: Love to hear you enjoyed our staff and overall vibe! Hope you and your coworkers come again soon! Thank you for the recommendation, we are a new bar and intend to keep on improving!
3z M
3z M: Lovely bar , nice service, thanks guys

Ellipse Rooftop Bar: what do users think?
Morris Jones
Morris Jones: The good - This is a nice place to enjoy time with a friend...great views. Food offerings were on par for a roof top bar. The "beef" - The bar area is small...enough for hotel guests to enjoy and groups of two. The bar size and the bar service are not satisfactory for handling a group or a table with more than 3. Do not go expecting table service (none). You must go to the small bar to order everything...paying for a table or a round of drinks was a challenge. Paying for a $40 shot of whiskey served in plastic glassware (?)...I did enjoy my table guests, the view and the weather. I expected better service...
Donovan Craig
Donovan Craig: Nice rooftop with a bit of a view, the atmosphere was very relaxed, just wish they were open to the public more as we saw multiple days where they were closed for private events.
Rich Opalinski
Rich Opalinski: Weather was perfect while we stayed, both bartenders were attentive, great views
M planetmike
M planetmike: (Update 2022 June) Arrive early if you want a seat. Conveniently located to McPherson Square. There is a happy hour. However due to its relatively small footprint and its connection to the hotel it is often reserved and unavailable. Recommend calling ahead to verify it is open. It is a refreshing spot on summer days.
Rachel Cipkins
Rachel Cipkins: Perfect place to unwind after a day at the national mall
Adara Ney
Adara Ney: A perfect place for an after work drink to watch the sunset and soak up nice weather. Great for group events too! I hosted a team happy hour with 20-30 and had a great experience. Great food (and prices!) on the catering menu and Brittany did a fantastic job coordinating the event.
David Cuevas
David Cuevas: they never used real tequila on my tequila cocktai, I got a headache before I finished it.
Brenda-renee Vance
Brenda-renee Vance: I enjoyed myself. The bartender was amazing. My drinks was good beginning to end.
Mike Rucki
Mike Rucki: Overpriced drinks, very limited bar selection, and not enough bartenders on a cramped rooftop. A decent view earns an extra star, but I cannot recommend this spot.

Vue Rooftop: what do users think?
Elizabeth T.
Elizabeth T.: Awesome location for a rooftop - only issue is that the best views are by the standing bar which seems to be an odd placement considering the food is expensive and you would think that they would seat more people by the windows. Drinks are on the pricier side with beer starting at $11. We ordered the burrata and lobster mango to start - by far the highlight of the meal. For dinner I got the lamb burger and it was okay but I’ve had better.
Elliott Schellinger
Elliott Schellinger: The views of the Washington monument are absolutely unparalleled from the booth at the Vue Rooftop. This was my first time at the establishment and I must admit I am quite impressed. The staff and the management were extremely accommodating, even though our demands were somewhat obnoxious. They were willing to open up the private dining area just for the two of us, and let us experience the D.C. skyline at its absolute best. The food was quite delicious. The appetizers in particular were truly scrumptious; “calamari” and “Parmesan fries” are the absolute must, along with the “olives and bread” starter. The must have cocktail for me was the “power to peaches”, divinely smooth and summery fresh. All-in-all, it was a perfect bon-voyage evening before we headed back to NYC. Thanks to the staff and the management for wrapping up our Washington D.C. visit in a ribbon with a luxurious bow on top.
JR Franks
JR Franks: Definitely worth checking out for the views of the WH and Mall, and the rooftop itself is quite spacious with a good amount of seating. The drinks were (unsurprisingly) on the pricier side so I probably wouldn’t come back often. Didn’t try the food but the burgers looked excellent, I’d probably try one if/when I come back.
Pat S
Pat S: We had a table of 13 guest for a dinner party. My calamari was hard and overcooked my entree the seafood linguine was distasteful. Our entire table didn’t enjoy their entrees. Beautiful views of the White House and Mall, and the rooftop it’s spacious with a good amount of seating and upscale. Good vibes and ambience for drinking and dance only, dine somewhere else. The drinks were on the pricier side my cocktail was $22, overall so I probably won’t come back as often.
JD
JD: This is a great spot for the social fare and view. It was packed on a Tuesday evening. Food was okay. Service okay. Drinks are great. Service gratuity is included in your bill, so tip extra when warranted
Robert Chang
Robert Chang: If you want a great view of the White House, definitely check out this bar. Definitely worth spending the price for a drink just to check out the view. The drinks are definitely on the pricier side and my Old Fashion was a tad small but once again, the view was worth it.
PGAmos
PGAmos: Fantastic view. The White House is hidden because of the trees but I’m sure it’s in plain view during the winter. I attended an event and everything I ate was tasty. The drinks weren’t bad either! I’ll be adding this to my list for out-of-town folks to visit.
Susan FG
Susan FG: Food was great, as were service and views. One drink from the outdoor bar was not good, indoor bar drinks were definitely better. We still had to wait about 20 minutes for our table but that was not too bad
Christopher king
Christopher king: The view was pretty great. I ordered the lobster and rice because the bartender recommended it. The presentation was great but it tasted really dry. My friend got the crab cakes and those were delicious! Dont get the rice, it’s not worth $54. Probably wouldn’t visit again.

The Rooftop at The Ven at Embassy Row: what do users think?
farida popal
farida popal: I was there on Saturday the 25th. We wanted to go to the rooftop bar. As soon we were at main entrance, the door man greeted us and guide us. When we went to the bar the atmosphere was nice. The drinks were a bet pricey and bar food was great! I’ll defiantly go again.
chrisy edme
chrisy edme: The stay was wonderful! The staff at the front desk are amazing ! Specially Lyle at the front desk, he was just a sweetheart to us. We booked our stay prior to them implementing the daily amenity fee. He waived it off of our stay and informed us that he will be more than happy to still provide the perks ! We received some sent sachet of jasmine and lavender which were amazing :) In addition to that he provided us with late check out because our flight was later in the afternoon. He also gave us some great tips of how to get around since it was our first time in DC. Also my room was provided with daily housekeeping and my housekeeper was just a sweetheart too but forgot her name unfortunately. My only Con was the bathroom size, as it was super small and there was no ventilation.
Kimberly “ ” Watson
Kimberly “ ” Watson: Excellent! Love the space! The art exhibit in the hotel was wonderful!
Reuben Wauyo
Reuben Wauyo: This is a beautiful venue and would seem to be all great but terrible customer service. Called for a reservation and information on restaurant and was referred to main line. To which someone picked up after I waited on hold, heard me then hung up. This is the most disrespectful and frustrating thing I can think of when trying to get things set for events. Calling back no one picks up and I have now been calling main line for 30 minutes to be assisted and again no one to answers. You would have to be crazy to work with these guys on anything important for you will receive absolutely no clarification or answers on any questions you have. I was very surprised to even see positive reviews at all. I really hope it’s an isolated event, but if I can help anyone else not deal with my issue I’ll be glad to steer you away and onto another location. I will update with location and name after my reservation is set with our new venue. Also to be noted, not even the central main line can reach these guys and are unwilling to even try. I believe we’ve definitely dodged a bullet.
Walter Hunt
Walter Hunt: Friendly staff , great location, very accommodating

Hedy's Rooftop: what do users think?
A
A: Edit: Sadly, Hedys no longer serves food at the rooftop! Such a disappointment. Also, there is no direct number to the restaurant and no one ever answers the phone when transferred through the hotel. Previous post: LOVE Hedy’s!! Food & drinks are always amazing and the view is outstanding! Music, vibe and service are all great too!
S.M.
S.M.: Visited 7/10/21. Place was okay. Views were nice, seats were limited and menu was very limited. Food tasted okay, nothing amazing. Cocktail menu had 5 cocktails but had a good size alcohol list. Nice place to take a date if you just want to have a drink and a small plate and enjoy nice relaxing ambiance with nice views. Not the place for a full blown dinner.
Lin Dinh
Lin Dinh: First of all, I just want to mention that the valet attendant is the sweetest and attentive person I’ve ever met. Located on top of a cute boutique hotel, the vibes are very chill up on this rooftop bar. The view is great! However, these pictures don’t even do any justice because as simple as these plates look, they are beyond what my tastebuds could ever expect. The duck leg is so perfectly cooked that you literally pull the bone out and shred the meat with a fork and it’s the most moist and flavorful thing I’ve ever had. The deviled eggs were also perfection, I may be biased tho because I love anything with a bit of truffle in it 😅 definitely a great find!
nataliya vlasova
nataliya vlasova: Nice cozy friendly staff burgers were good, I’m not a big fan of alcohol-my husband got against the grain cocktail and it was kinda too bitter but it’s up to your taste. The views are great
Herman Guzman
Herman Guzman: Really wish they served food on rooftop evening and afternoon hours Took a while for drinks and to close out tab A place really just for drinks thats all , no snacks or apps atleast , downstairs serves food but you cant bring it up to rooftop
Faith Mitchell
Faith Mitchell: I had most of the cocktails on the menu and they were delicious. The truffle fries were good as well. The bartender was very nice, but on this particular day we had to keep going back to the bar to order which I did not care for. However, this didnt lessen the experience. The space is beautiful and definitely one of the best rooftop views in the city. I will come again.
Rae W. (Rasheeda Williams)
Rae W. (Rasheeda Williams): Beautiful space. Chaotic atmosphere. Ultimately, not a great experience. I had been SO excited to try this bar, but when I went I had sooo… many… Issues. For starters, it’s clear that they overwork their staff. There was one hostess for essentially two bars: one at the lower level and the rooftop bar. In order to have questions answered and to be seated, we had to wait for the sweet hostess to take each individual/group to the upstairs bar and then come back downstairs. How does this seem like a good system for anyone?! After a wait, my friend and I were seated, so naturally we were disappointed when we didn’t have the greatest experience with bartenders/servers. I am certain they were overwhelmed and overworked. As a patron, however, it’s difficult to want to go to a place with long wait times and mixed-vibes with service when there are soooo many places in this area where grabbing a drink is uncomplicated.
Isai Ortiz
Isai Ortiz: OVERPRICED weak drinks. At $15 per drink, no wonder why the place is basically empty. Cute views but not worth the price tag on drinks. First time and last for me. Oh, and no expresso martinis, blah.
beverly giron
beverly giron: Food was amazing!! I had the crab and artichoke dip! Omggg. And the fries. The drinks were strong and yummy

CUT Above: what do users think?
Laetitia Monnier
Laetitia Monnier: Beautiful view of the Potomac river. The rooftop is really nice. We went at night and we could see the Potomac river and the skyscrapers in Virginia. We took desserts and it was so good ! We had the chocolate soufflé from the famous restaurant just below and it was one of the best cake that I had !! The basque cheesecake was good also but the chocolat soufflé was definitely the star of the show for me.
Response: Dear Laetitia: Thank you so much for you kind review of CUT Above. I am delighted that you were able to enjoy two of our signature desserts as you took in the view from above the hotel We look forward to having you back with us. Sincerley, CUT DC and Rosewood Washington D.C.
Manda B
Manda B: Beautiful rooftop. Pretty small, chill spot so a good place to have a stop-by on a date night.. The cocktails were pretty good!
Response: Dear Manda B: Thank you for this delightful review! I hope we can welcome you back for more date nights! See you soon, CUT DC and Rosewood Washington, D.C.
Cc C
Cc C: Terrible service, terrible experience. We sat for an hour and we’re never served water. They didn’t bring us any menus for 90 minutes. The drinks are dramatically over priced for rail whiskey and tequila - at least $20 a cocktail. To add insult to injury, it took 15 minutes before the bartender even acknowledged me but served the woman who sat down after me. The ambiance inside is incredibly dark and they refuse to turn on the lights even at our parties request - we paid for an entire section in the restaurant. Ridiculous! The absolute WORST part was that the table we were supposed to sit at was left dirty for 45 minutes and they let us stand around, refusing to clean and adjoin the tables for our party. We ended up doing it ourselves! I would not recommend this place to any of my friends. I hate being that guy, I really do, but I honestly feel we were being discriminated against for our race! I wanted us to go to Flavio instead so bad!
Response: Dear Cc C Thank you for your note and comments. I am wondering if you can please reach out to me directly with more specifics about your experience so that we may address these with your personally. I can be reached by calling the hotel at 202 617 2400. This will then allow us to offer a more detailed public response to the above review. Many thanks, Timothy Edgecombe Director of Sales, Rosewood Washington, D.C.
Rene Hugentobler
Rene Hugentobler: Limited expensive selection. I expected more from a 5 star hotel and especially from Puck. Food, drinks and ambiance. Additionally maybe a minimal dress code would be beneficial. The Graham seems to be the better choice.
Response: Dear Rene Hugentobler: Thank you for the feedback. As you can appreciate our rooftop lounge, which is adjacent to our rooftop pool, is used by both hotel guests and those from outside - so there will always be a variety of casual attire in this space. Given our kitchen set-up at CUT Above our Temaki Sushi program best allows us to provide an experience unique to the offering of CUT Lounge (on the main floor - which also has outdoor space). We have ensured that given our unique program and setting, our pricing is very competitive with others providing similar experiences. I hope we have a chance to welcome you to one of the other venues we offer in the near future. Sincerely, CUT D.C. and Rosewood Washington, D.C.
Nisan A.
Nisan A.: Went there for a drink with a friend and loved the Cut Above. Artisan cocktails and a good menu. Took great pictures for the full moon while there that night. The only thing is that it’s just a bit overpriced.
Response: Hello Nisan: Thank you so much for your review and the great picture! I hope we have the chance to welcome you back. Rosewood Washington, D.C. and CUT D.C.
Ronjon Ray
Ronjon Ray: Beautiful venue, decent drinks. The tiny taco "sushi" appetizers were extremely overpriced. Would go back for drinks only.
Response: Dear Ronjon Ray: Thank you for your recent visit to CUT Above and for the rating. We appreciate the feedback and will review our menus accordingly. Hopefully we can welcome you back in the near future. Sincerely, CUT D.C. and Rosewood Washington, D.C.
Scott Heldman
Scott Heldman: Fantastic view!Drinks were great.Service just a little slow.
Response: Dear Mr. Heldman Thank you for you kind review and your note on your service experience. We have made note of this comment and hope to welcome you back in the near future! Sincerely, CUT D.C. and Rosewood Washington, D.C.
Harry Fang
Harry Fang: Nice rooftop bar and lounge with good food and drinks. A pool is accessible for hotel guests.

Rosebar Lounge: what do users think?
Lane McCall
Lane McCall: Pros - Clean environment - Beautiful aesthetics - Great lighting effects - I got compliments lol Cons - Most bartenders are rude - $20 cover (cash only) - Venu is small and cramped - Music was severely lacking
Carson Goff
Carson Goff: Come to this bar if you want to fear for your life. Worst crowd of any bar in DuPont. Avoid at all costs.
Tracey Hart
Tracey Hart: i fly down to dc once in a while to visit friends and family and was very disappointed to learn this place was boring and colorist. They apparently dont hire women of deeper complexions and their waitresses are online arguing, being fatphobic, and unprofessional. I could never do that and expect to keep my job but of course this place has no standards so im not too surprised. Spend your money somewhere else.
Google User
Google User: Guess you gotta be a somebody to get a table or section here, I reached out way in advance before my birthday letting them know I was interested in getting a table for when I come celebrate my birthday. Someone responded asked for my contact info, left me on read and never heard from them again. It would’ve been my first time in DC and my first time going here.
Shaneaka R.
Shaneaka R.: The music was great in the room all the way to the back. Loved the decor on the ceiling. You must have to reserve the hookah because it was sold out.
soccerqueen181
soccerqueen181: Not professional! From the hiring process to the social media presence they do not know how to conduct business. They also refuse to hire women of color which is confusing because DC is referred to as chocolate city. Definitely take your business elsewhere because they need to actually learn how to run an establishment properly.
Ed E
Ed E: This place is a waste of time and money. Bad music, overpriced drinks, they want to charge a lot of money to get in, bully bouncers pushing people because they feel less in their small brains, small space. There are many other options in DC than this awful place.
Brandon Jones
Brandon Jones: It might very well be awesome, but when I went, it was deadlocked in the back bar.

Ciel Social Club: what do users think?
Oluwaseyi A
Oluwaseyi A: We visited Ciel early in the week randomly after work. This is the spot if you’re looking for a bar with city vibes, aesthetics and a rooftop. And our bartender was friendly. However, thats where it stopped for us that night. It could be because it was early in the week, early in the night or because we sat at the bar but the drinks and desserts we ordered were not good at all. We could barely finish our drinks and dessert. The quality was not equivalent to the prices at all. We ended up closing out the tab and heading to another bar. (Located in AC hotel)
Scot Fishman
Scot Fishman: The vibe is on point, with a rooftop experience nestled at the top of a relatively new hotel in Mount Vernon Triangle. The food is decent, and the drinks are even better. Rumor has it that Erica, one of the bartenders, makes a mean Old Fashioned. 😉
Response: Thank you for your review Scot, hope to see you again soon!
chandrima deuri
chandrima deuri: Great ambience for a date or social night out. Some really interesting items in their drinks menu. I tried the drinks Bloom, Irezumi and Wood from their special cherry blossom festival and Irezumi was my favorite. The costs are a bit at the pricy end and food menu was limited. There might be trouble finding it initially as it is located inside the hotel AC Hotel Marriott.
Tierre Wright
Tierre Wright: Rooftop was excellent. Drinks and food were great also!!! I will definitely be referring my friends and family!!!
Response: So happy to hear you enjoyed your experience at Ciel! We can't wait to have you back, Tierre!

Alexis Farrar
Alexis Farrar: The drinks was great we got passion Margarita drinks and Parton shots. We ordered the taco bowls and lamb tacos it was great as well haven’t had tacos that great in a while. The whole atmosphere was a vibe the decorations was fire we will definitely go back just make sure you make reservations.
Response: Thanks for the great review!
Patrick Young
Patrick Young: Margaritas at happy hour were tasty, cocktails were tasty, and the decor was beautiful, but the rooftop had a plastic shield that blocked our view. We went here since we were looking for a rooftop bar experience, but it takes away from the experience if we can’t see out. The drinks were pretty pricey too even at happy hour
Tenny Kristiana
Tenny Kristiana: Love this place. Owner is kind and staff also really nice. Came here a bit late and it was full. We ordered nachos and it was good, love it. Also love their charcoal shot 😆
Moira Leonard
Moira Leonard: We sat at the bar in a gorgeous covered outdoor space. Our bartender Lina was fantastic and made us so beautiful and delicious drinks. I had the gin drink in the menu with rose and mint syrup among other things and my girlfriend had some special frozen concoction. Lina made some great recommendations and our tacos were fantastic. The carnitas with pineapple slaw was so yummy, but the SHOWSTOPPER was the handmade corn tortillas. They were so soft and held together so well. They were hands down the best tortillas I’ve ever had. If I’m ever back in DC I’m coming for the tacos and the cocktails.
Bobbi DeAnda
Bobbi DeAnda: This place is a whole vibe!!! Such a beautiful setting! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because about 3/4 of the drink menu was unavailable (and the drinks we got were tasty but weak). Tacos were yummy - and it was taco Tuesday. They messed up my order but brought a replacement quickly. The only other things, seating is not comfortable and it’s not accessible at all - no elevator and large staircase to get there. Other than those things, loved this place! Great service, cool vibe, and great selfie backdrops, haha! :)
Johnleia Lambert
Johnleia Lambert: El Techo is a vibe! The decor is dreamy, whimsical and simply beautiful. The avocado taco was a surprise treat on the menu. The texture was perfect and the ingredients paired well. The Imperio cocktail was refreshing and perfectly made. I recommend the birria tacos if you love lamb as much as I do. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection. Definitely go to El Techo if you are in the Shaw area.
Response: Thanks for the great review and please tell your friends!
Aaron Krahling
Aaron Krahling: Great Atmosphere, Excellent Menu, Highly Reccomended My teenage daughter and I met a friend at El Techo last night and it was a very pleasant experience. We were greeted and seated promptly at our reservation time. The decor was simple but unique and pretty cool looking. The noise levels were low to moderate so conversation wasn’t difficult, which is my biggest pet peeve when dining. The wait staff was quick to greet us at the table and helped us with any questions we had about different dishes. At our friend’s recommendation, we ordered one of each of their fresh juices followed by their cleanse juice. These beverages were unique in their blends of (not all in one) beets, tangerine, lemon, ginger, apple juice, pear juice and several others that I’m not recalling at this time. When the server brought the juices, they also brought our order of chips/salsa/queso/guacamole. The guacamole was fresh made in house and spiced appropriately while the queso and salsa were far above average. After talking to the server for a while and asking more questions than most would tolerate, we ended up ordering 2 of the 3-taco trays. The juices kind of unexpectedly filled us up so we were light on the meal. The tacos we ordered were Carne Asada, Fried Avocado and Shrimp. They came served on corn tortillas, which weren’t too hard or soft, topped with lettuce, tomato (might have been pico) and onions and then of course whatever the main topping was. They were the perfect temperature and definitely fit in my top 5 best tacos I’ve had, which might sound sub par, but I’ve had hundreds at restaurants all over the country. Since we filled up on juices and tacos, there was no room for dessert but that’s okay. It gives me something to look forward to the next time around. Overall, I give this place a 9/10……………. because there’s no such thing as perfect.

Damon Okey: Great little dive in Chinatown with a rooftop bar. American style pub fare with a good cocktail menu and a few craft brews to chose from. Service was friendly, if a bit understaffed. Glad we stopped!
Response: Thank you for stopping in Damon- we really appreciate the compliment on the service. We hope to see you again soon. Cheers!
Anthony L. Forshier
Anthony L. Forshier: I ordered the Gouda Short Rib Burger; it was the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I don’t often write reviews of bars or restaurants; but knowledge of that short rib burger must be shared with the world. The short rib was delicious; but what made it exquisite was the added sweetness of the maple syrup coupled with the savory Gouda cheese. The crunchiness of the toasted bun ensured that each bite appealed to all five senses. I will be back.
Response: Anthony- many thanks for the rave review! We appreciate the compliment on the Gouda Short Rib sandwich. We hope to see you again soon!
Will Combs
Will Combs: We sat on the rooftop. Staff was fun and outstanding. Food was amazing as well. The pictured sandwich is only half of it. Portions are more than enough and fairly priced. Atmosphere and quality make this definitely worth a visit.
Response: Thank you for the great review Will- we will be sharing your comments with the team.
Shay Holihan
Shay Holihan: The whole place is 4 floors and I went when only two of the floors were open. The rooftop is very spacious and the 3rd floor bar is very long. They have great great happy hour specials. And I got the burrata salad with chicken and it was pretty good. Only reason I’m not giving it a 5 was because of the service. My bartender was really fast but not personable. I’ve been a bartender for over 5 years so it hurts to see none of the bartenders care about their guests. Also they add an automatic 20% grat on to every tab. Which I always pay more but it feels very odd to do it so high automatically.
M H
M H: We were here for a Caps game and the larger female server was just angry the entire time. Thank goodness your other server in a black hoodie was there. She was awesome, polite, got us what we needed and even offered to go upstairs for a different beer we were looking for. Went on 5/7/2022 if you are a manager. She is the only reason we will come back. Please teach or help the other server. She was absolutely terrible. As a member of the armed forces and a past server myself, it was absolutely uncalled for and really upset the people around us and ourselves, food was awesome by the way!
Justin M
Justin M: Self serve bar with first come first serve. Good drinks!
Response: Thank you for the recommendation Justin! We hope to see you again soon. Cheers!

Jack Rose Dining Saloon: what do users think?
Oceanie De Silva
Oceanie De Silva: What an Amazing Whiskey Collection!! We had a night out of drinks here with our friend who was visiting us and we absolutely loved the place and the collection of whiskeys and bourbon and so many other stuff! The bar tenders are so friendly and knowledgeable about everything! I said I love fruity cocktails with either Gin or Vodka and instant cocktails were created! Must visit in DC
Meg Salocks
Meg Salocks: One of the best collections of Scotch Malt Whisky Society on the east coast, along with lots of other unique bottles with a real range in prices. The staff are eternally nice and thoughtful, and will happily help you find the right pour for your tastes. A date night favorite if whiskey is your thing.
Anindita Barman
Anindita Barman: This is a very popular place I could tell from the crowd that was in the restaurant even after the kitchen had closed. We had the "Jack Rose Barrel Picks" flight, the "Time in a Bottle" cocktail, whiskey Wings and fries. The whiskey selection in the flight was great, the cocktail and the wings were good as well, however, the fries were not seasoned or salted at all. Service was good but the host could have done better. He just stood there without greeting or anything so we were not sure if he was part of the staff. Upon asking if he worked there, he said he did after which we asked for a table and he led us to one. :/ Parking can be a hassle as the restaurant is in the heart of DC. There is street parking but finding a spot is up to luck.
Gregg Caldwell
Gregg Caldwell: Have been here two times and the service has been excellent and the bourbon knowledge has been on par. Not sure how long it would take a server to know what liquor they have and the ability to speak about each bottle? Place gets loud as it gets later in the night. Make sure to check out the upstairs area.
Kevin Raisch
Kevin Raisch: As a whisk(e)y fan, I had to visit Jack Rose while in DC and it was awesome. Kyle, our whisky advisor, perfectly crafted a whisky flight based on my preferences and provided very detailed and interesting facts about the story and science behind each bottle. In addition to the 3,000 unique bottles of whisky they have food, beer, cocktails and two floors of space (including outdoor space) so it’s perfect even for those who don’t want whisky.
Larry Miller
Larry Miller: Over 2600 different Whiskies in their inventory. Great selection of rare whiskey. Great cocktails, service and food. This was a busket list bar for me. Itcwas the worth the trip.
Michael McDaniel
Michael McDaniel: Truly a must-go place for bourbon and whiskey lovers. For starting at only $28, you’ll get to experience 3 bottles tasting with an excellent background on each bottle by well-knowledgeable and passionate servers. The second floor is open air with different corners to experience.

Mike Corbett: First time there it was cool. Some of the services could be improved. From security trying to charge to reenter for leaving extra funds in car. And $15 for a fre wings and handful of fries??.. The carryout does better amd you get a drink most times...
Lamont Ambrister
Lamont Ambrister: Really nice spot. Great music. Great crowd i had a ball.

DC9 Nightclub: what do users think?
John T
John T: This dive bar is awesome! In the summer you can relax on the 3rd fl rooftop and laugh at everyone waiting in line for the "popular" bar across the street. In the winter they have small indi bands on the second floor. Great concert space. Staff has seen it all so be respectful!
Katelyn Stenger
Katelyn Stenger: Intimate venue and very friendly staff. I would highly recommend if you can! The tickets were shockingly affordable and the folks at the front actually checked vaccination and ID. Much appreciated.
Jessica Strahin
Jessica Strahin: Went there for a small intimate concert. Loved the venue and the staff!!
Robert Cardoni
Robert Cardoni: Great intimate show space to see smaller up and coming bands ... only hold about 150 people - so sold out shows are tight. Staff is super friendly. Beer is cold. Sound is good. What more could a music fan ask for Check set times though. Sometime shows are early with dance parties afterwards ...
Omny Miranda Martone
Omny Miranda Martone: I love DC9. We go here regularly. The bottom floor is a typical indoor bar, the second floor is for dancing, and the top floor is a rooftop bar. Definitely recommend.
Stacey Brooks
Stacey Brooks: Little but intimate. TTNG played twice here and it was a laid back experience. Bar on every level, food always smells great, bands perform on the second level without it being over crowded! Great place to rock!
Joe Nicol
Joe Nicol: always a good time, the best unofficial gay bar in DC — great acts, cool space
Chris B
Chris B: 150 person capacity venue means you can get up close to the bands but shows usually end pretty early and the beer list is not impressive by any means. The food is pretty good tho, and be sure to get their garlic fries as a side to whatever you order.
Daniel Cox
Daniel Cox: Great place for live music. It is a really small and intimate venue which makes for a much better experience. Bouncer was really nice, drinks are averagely priced, and overall a good experience. Would come to a show here again.

Doyle: what do users think?
Justin Leach
Justin Leach: The servers were very friendly but 4-5 different people visited my table through the night, I wasn’t sure who my server was and who was just there to refill waters because everyone seemed to be switching roles. Even the host refilled my wine. They weren’t even too busy. I never got my salad, which in my situation was fine because I wasn’t too hungry anyway and really just wanted a couple drinks but normally would not be okay, and when I asked for the desert menu it took 20 minutes because they apparently only had one copy and all the tables were sharing it. Again, very friendly but confusing service. Can’t speak to the food because I never ended up getting mine.
Response: Thank you for sharing feedback on your recent experience at Doyle. While we're pleased to learn you found our staff to be friendly, we are disappointed to learn we felt short on delivering a memorable experience. Please know I have shared your comments with our team to ensure the high service standards we have set for our team are consistently upheld. Alyssa Miller
Alyssa Miller: I usually love the Doyle however - after over a month of not setting foot in the establishment I was charged over $85.00. Let me be clear - I have not lost my card, it has been in my possession the entire time. It has been impossible to get this resolved and incredibly disappointing in that the likely cause of this was a staff member running my card information and pocketing the money. My goal has been reversed and that has been not only incredibly difficult to do - I have been promised call backs from the manager that have never materialized. At this point I don’t see myself ever going back to what was one of my favorite places to enjoy a drink and wonderful atmosphere and I cannot in good conscience recommend it to anyone because they might be stolen from.
Response: Good Afternoon, Alyssa. We are deeply concerned to learn of this issue. After further review, it appears there was a delay of charge from the credit card processing company from your original visit. A member of our team would like to be in touch to provide additional details surrounding this charge. Please be assured that credit card details are never stored in our systems. When convenient, please send us an email with your contact information so we have the opportunity to make amends for this inconvenience. Regards, Julian Enright Bar Manager Hello@doyle.bar
Lina G
Lina G: The best spot to kill your vibes. I felt disrespected. My taste buds felt disrespected. The three days old burger buns were offensive to my very culinary enthusiastic existence. The pickle wouldn’t take in the knife or teeth. The cocktail tastes like slushy. The bartender attends to customers not in the order of first come first serve, but in the order of shades - of course white to black. The manager looks like he hit the loto making management in the midst of lack of labor in covid era. If you came in ravenous, you’ll leave mortified or else you’ve simply lost your taste. What a shame it’s in the heart of DC. Sat June 25th, 2022. 11pm

the Gibson: what do users think?
Jeff Schwamb
Jeff Schwamb: A brilliant speak-easy with bartenders that truly take their craft seriously. The custom mezcal drink was spot on the lighting and atmosphere promoted an escape from the outside world.
A V
A V: Definitely a 4 star experience, not more. Clean, with a nice atmosphere ( music selection was not speakeasy.. more hip hop), and the staff was very nice. However, drinks were not impressive for the price paid. Also, they should describe the drinks better, especially if they have an online menu. Went to 600t on the same night and much better experience
byron subero
byron subero: So my new thing is trying to go to all the speakeasy in the DMV. 6 down many to go. Gibson has a relaxing vibe with a indoor and outdoor seating.
2luvis2live
2luvis2live: This place is so discreet. Once inside, you are totally removed from outside and embraced by the atmosphere which was chill and laid back. Everyone was cool and down to earth. Our bartender was so warm and friendly (Enjoy your upcoming birthday in August Leo). I would definitely visit again. Thanks for a great time.
Paige Sheats
Paige Sheats: This is one of my go to places. I love the vibe and it’s very speakeasy-ish! I also can’t say enough good things about the cocktails! They’re not only delicious but also very unique based on other speakeasies and bars around town! The only negative is it’s hard to get a table if you’re just trying to walk in, so book a reservation in advance.
James Lee
James Lee: Great drinks and beautiful interior. I also recommend ordering your own and letting the bartender be creative. The bar is currently closed (tables only) and service was a bit slow when I went, but still had a good time.
Maya Bryant
Maya Bryant: This speakeasy was tucked away off of U street. The drinks were okay, but the vibe was everything. Very fun for a chill night. Make sure you have a reservation.

HEIST: what do users think?
Muzafar Umarov
Muzafar Umarov: Excellent bartenders. They are very professional and fast. Music is also very good here. Only bad part is that the place is small and can get packed really quick. But it has an awesome vibe. Especially on Fridays.
Kevin Orlandi
Kevin Orlandi: Wow! What a night! I once was lost, but then I found Heist! Place is amazing. Bartenders were slinging drinks faster than I could order them! Service with a smile is an understatement. I asked my server for a bottle and she ran so fast to get me it that she made Bo Jackson’s 40-yard dash time look slow. This establishment is the epitome of “excellence.” If I could, I’d give it ten stars!!
Alvin
Alvin: Bartender was very rude and meand. A lot of young guys but staff never on the top of that....If you want a couple of shots maybe otherwise is plenty of better spot
Kaz Okochi
Kaz Okochi: Heist is a gorgeous venue for special events, has an amazing sound system, and the art is SO unique. We cater some private events there and always are excited to get to stop by. Very upscale clientele and vibe.

Twelve After Twelve: what do users think?
Angelica Norman-Beltran
Angelica Norman-Beltran: Really fun club to visit. There were 4 or 5 different rooms all with different music. Loved the Wonderland vibe it had.
Adriane Busby
Adriane Busby: Place itself is fine but they allow their bartenders too much power. One bartender tried to have me kicked out for asking whether he mistakenly put soda instead of tonic in my gin and tonic. Literally had me kicked out for asking politely, I might add. I was completely shocked. I left and was only allowed back in bc the manager was from the same town in Syria as my friend who went to bat for me. Crazy
M
M: In absolute totality, this is the only place in DC that has good music and good DJ’s. After the death of 18th street lounge I was afraid the vibe, soul, and rhythm would be gone forever. But I’m so glad the past couple times I came, they played amazing music. For your information good music is music you can dance to and enjoy. Often times it’s music that you havnt heard before or don’t know the words to. I’m glad this place doesn’t play the same cookie cutter playlist of mainstream music all the clubs all over the city and country and bars play. This place is totally underrated. Keep up the good work. I wish I lived closer to DC so I can come a lot more frequently. Also the staff is extremely friendly and uplifting. This is the spot you want to go to if you wanna have a good time and not deal with the frustrations that come with other places. 5 stars truly deserved!
Dr Tiaga Phillips TBA
Dr Tiaga Phillips TBA: The staff were polite and the music was great. The only con was the price, size and alcohol context of the drinks.
Levya Samantha
Levya Samantha: Severely understaffed. Not enough security. Got my wallet stolen. Rude staff. Reserved two tables for a farewell party but other than getting the bottles we ordered, there was no bottle service or anyone checking in. Not worth the expensive price tag.
Zain
Zain: My friends and I have been going every Friday for the past month and enioy it. It does empty out a bit after 12:30/1, but it’s a fantastic spot to pregame, the staff are very friendly, and the music is great. Would highly recommend checking it out!
Real Shai B.
Real Shai B.: BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. I GOT MY $700 CAMERA STOLEN AND WALLET AND MY SISTER GOT HER PHONE STOLEN! THERE WERE 5 OTHER PEOPLE THAT GOT THEIR THINGS STOLEN THE SAME NIGHT AND THERE WAS 15 PHONES STOLEN THE NIGHT BEFORE AND WE WERE NOTIFIED OF THAT WHEN WE GOT OUTSIDE AND SECURITY TOLD US! THEN WENT ON TO SAY ITS OUR FAULT OUR THINGS GOT STOLEN. SHORT MANAGER WITH TATTOOS AND MOHAWK TRIED TO GET IN MY SISTERS FACE AND ARGUE WITH US. HE WAS PROBABLY IN ON IT BECAUSE HE WAS VERY NONCHALANT ABOUT IT. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!
Scott Greenler
Scott Greenler: Spent 4.5 million in a "renovation" to ruin the unique character of 18th street lounge and create a bar that perfectly mirrors a dozen others in DC. What a shame.

Sax Restaurant & Lounge: what do users think?
Diana Feldmaier
Diana Feldmaier: SIR Sundays are BACK!! It is the best brunch I’ve been to. The buffet style food was delicious, lots of fun, great show, and unlimited mimosas! Bring all your girlfriends, you’ll have a blast!
Alexander Cárdenas
Alexander Cárdenas: The experience was really good. I enjoyed the night with my friends, good drinks and the music was perfect. However, there was not enough air conditioning and very hot. Other that that good.
B Rene
B Rene: I have to give Sax 4/5 stars because of my experience. I took my mother here for her birthday about a week ago for the dinner and show. The atmosphere is REALLY intimate/dramatic. Quick bite: they give you some type of flavor popcorn. Unfortunately, the server came around and took the bowl while we still has popcorn in it and didn’t even ask us if we were done or if we wanted more. I just thought that might’ve been a nice courtesy. Appetizer: we ordered the cocktail shrimp (there were four fairly large shrimp. They were seasoned and cooked perfectly! My mom had their blackberry mesculin salad which was really good as well. Neither of us really cared for the vinaigrette that comes with it (too vinegar-y), but their ranch (which I believe is housemade) was really great! Drinks:my mom had what was originally served as a house shooter (They practically give these away) district was pretty refreshing, cool, and crisp. It’s pink, and forgive me I cannot remember the name of it. I had the art of the tease, Which is either whiskey or bourbon-based, but really tasty! Comes with some type of sugar crystals on a stick that’s a little bit longer and thicker than toothpick. Would definitely order again. Dinner: I tried the lamb... not so great. But traded for the Oscar NY strip....BOMB. It came with asparagus beets in the crabmeat. I don’t even know how to explain the flavor in the party in my mouth! But definitely a must try if you plan to visit. It definitely made up for any concern I had about the lamb. My mom had the Chimichurri steak frites. They came up very tender and juicy. Not quite as flavorful as the New York strip, but still really good. For sides (yes, they are à le carte) we had the mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. Both really good! Those are probably some the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had in my life! Not sure if that’s a thing, but for me that night it was. Only issue that I had with that was they don’t seem to have enough sides. I took pictures of the menu, so you’ll see what I mean. I just feel like maybe a little more variety would have been more intriguing. Dessert:didn’t really look too appetizing. Again, not enough menu options, and the few items that were there didn’t really spark my interest. Because it was my moms birthday, they did bring out cheesecake with a candle and two glasses of champagne. Not bad. Definitely nice that they were thoughtful enough to bring her something and celebrate with her. The cheesecake that they brought out was really good… Unfortunately I don’t remember seeing that (non dulce de leche) on the menu. Entertainment: They have a different set every 40 or 45 minutes after the hour. Definitely not raunchy or anything classless, But I would not recommend this place for kids under 16 maybe even 18. As this was my first time, I wasn’t really aware that the show takes place kind of at the eye level of the people sitting upstairs, and we ended up sitting downstairs. Still a great deal because the entertainment was also on the floor, but I feel like there were parts of the show that we missed when they were doing floor work in the skybox. We would have been able to see that better if we were on the second floor. Now we know for next time though. Last tidbit: No matter the size of your party or the time of day or the day of the week that you come in, they will be adding 22% gratuity to your bill automatically. Overall, my first Sax experience was great. Definitely book a reservation. They do have a two hour maximum time limit that they claim that they strictly enforce. I took plenty of photos for you guys...enjoy and pay a visit
Daisy de Santiago
Daisy de Santiago: The staff at SAX needs to learn the definition of hospitality. Better yet, they need to go back to hospitality school. We used to go to SAX several years ago until their shows became tasteless and raunchy. Then, we recently heard they rebranded their image as a legit supper club, so we decided to try them again. When we arrived, the place only had a few diners and the bar area that they call a “fast bar” but had no bartender in sight. So, we sat down at one of the tables to wait for a bartender to show up and watch the show that started. A service staff (if you can even call her that) walked up to us ask asked if we had a reservation. We said, we didn’t, but that we wanted to grab a drink. She immediately dismissed us and said we cannot sit in that area because the party who reserved it was about to arrive any minute now. Well, as evidenced by my photos below, it had been over an hour and no one had occupied the area where we were sitting. The bar downstairs was never staffed and we were told we needed to go to the upstairs bar to be served drinks. The bartender was the only hospitable person in that entire establishment. Also, when we moved to the other side of the restaurant, this time with our drinks in hand, we were approached yet again by someone who looked like he could be the manager. Rather than offer us a seating where we could enjoy our drinks, he simply told us that we cannot sit at that particular table. This place was a waste of visit. They were rude and dismissive. They ought to take a page out of Stephen Starr’s book when it comes to excellence in service and talent in the restaurant industry. Which, by the way, was where we headed after our time at this wannabe, overpriced, superficial supper club.
Desirea Conner
Desirea Conner: Sax is always a great time ! I went with my best friend for a pride event and we had so much fun !
Bryan Jordan
Bryan Jordan: Awesome decor and entertainment. Easily spend $200 between two people, so bring your $$$ but the drinks and food were executed very well. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great place for a date night, birthday party, or special event. We will be returning again for sure, well worth the trip into DC.
Dani Pass
Dani Pass: Never go here. The staff is so aggressive. As a woman I felt so unsafe. I saw their bouncer grab people by the neck and aggressively take people out in an unacceptable way. This person cannot be working there. Brendon, the one working at the door was completely unhelpful and ignorant about this serious situation.

Morris American Bar: what do users think?
Martin Schmidt
Martin Schmidt: nice atmosphere, slightly too much air-con , or we as European are not use it ?.. We ordered 2 espresso martini, they were average, So much vodka , and coffee was not strong enough. For my taste But their original cocktail were Bom !!! Jamaican twist on Manhattan super tasty . La Reina was soooo good , if you live tequila try this . Overall i would definitely go back
Response: Hi Martin! We are ecstatic to hear you found us all the way from Europe-- it was our pleasure having you! Thank you for taking the time to try our selection of cocktails and for this detailed review (we know a cocktail connoisseur when we meet one)! Looking forward to seeing you in the future !
Bradley Popkin
Bradley Popkin: Swanky and cozy bar with two floors. Spent some time here with family and friends. Great cocktail selection and service. We were greeted quickly and everyone was friendly. I really appreciated the full-size Johnnie Walker figure outside lol.
Neil Patel
Neil Patel: The staff are super friendly and accommodating. We ordered off the menu and were pleasantly surprised at how much we liked our drinks. The mocktails and zero proof drinks were great too!
Response: Neil, thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that you had a great experience and we hope to see you again soon!
Andrea Martin
Andrea Martin: Good drinks, good service. It’s across the street from where Google currently shows. Has an outdoor patio that feels much different than the indoor vibe
Response: We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your experience with Morris! Thank you for this great review!
Nirupa P
Nirupa P: Good experience. We did the Halloween special & the drinks were good. We both got 3 drinks each & they were great. Our favorite was Noche de sueno & dia de muertos. Food menu were also limited. We got the devil eggs & they were good.
Rachel Lipton
Rachel Lipton: The space was thoughtfully designed with a great bar but the drinks were a bit of a letdown - certainly not bad but I was expecting something a touch more exciting (I know they rotate monthly so I’ll be back to try some new ones soon) The vibe was also a touch quiet/empty which was a bit of a bummer since we were celebrating but perhaps it would have been better if we were there earlier or later
Adam Pusateri
Adam Pusateri: Morris is without a doubt an absolute gem of a cocktail bar and my personal favorite. The bartenders are not only inventive but also thoroughly well-versed in classics and contemporary drinks. You can tell the whole team is proud of their bar, and it really shows. The seasonal menu is their own impressive creation, but make no mistake, they gladly take requests and offer new suggestions. Inside is a time capsule of a classic bar. The colors, décor, lighting, music – it is the perfect place for relaxing drinks. Outside is shaded and casual, exactly what you want for a group of friends. Other bars even the often lauded “Bests in DC” have fallen short of what Morris is consistently doing here in terms of quality, knowledge, skill, and service. You get way more than what you pay for here. As amazing as it all is, it is not at all stuffy. Everybody is friendly, easygoing, and enjoys what they are doing. This review is long overdue and could not be more well deserved. Morris often surprises, never disappoints, and after all their extra hard work during the pandemic, I cannot wait to sit at the actual bar again. Until then, cheers!
Response: Thank you so much Adam! So glad you enjoyed your experience.
Mohan Sun
Mohan Sun: Our favorite cocktail joint in town! The drinks are top-notch and reasonably-priced. We’ve been to other “good” places that charged $16 for a to-go cup. Morris beats that in so many aspects and it never disappoints. Everyone works there are super nice and knowledgeable. Doug, Ian and Rhine are skillful bartenders who can fix you up with almost any requests. They usually have seasonal cocktail menus and recently added low & non-alcohol drinks which is perfect for a person like me who can’t drink too much. I got Strawberry Kitty last time and it’s sooo good! If you want something refreshing, you NEED to get it! Please support their business. They work hard to stay afloat while continue to innovate great drinks during this difficult time.
Response: Thank you for your review and your support Mohan!
