Khoi Nguyen: Great coffee spot located on a busy street. I recently stopped by on an early Sunday and the line was almost out the door. My friends and I ordered a regular coffee, espresso shot and a matcha latte. Prices are reasonable for DC and service was really quick. I’ll definitely be back for their breakfast pastries
Josephine Valois: I’ve had good experiences the first few times I’ve stopped by for breakfast, but this time was just the worst. $12 for avocado toast and it’s covered in so much oil I used 4 napkins to wipe it off. It’s completely soggy with oil. I unfortunately didn’t notice until I walked home to eat. The coffee is good, but get the breakfast sandwich instead.
Michael Meotti: Good coffee, great scones (I had the cherry almond, good amount of fruit and a bit of sugar icing on top...all to the good!) and nice location with comfortable indoor seating, some tables outside and a roll open garage style door/window in the front for nice weather.
Oliver Wiehe: The flavor of the coffee is exquisite. The coffee is so good it needs no sugar or cream. Be sure to order a orange cranberry muffin. The sugar layer has a wonderful crunch to the warm fruit flavors inside. Atmosphere is casual urban. Wydown coffee bar is a must visit when close to U street in DC.

Emir Sfaxi: I love Wydown since I don’t live far from it. However I was really disappointed that they removed the blueberry lavender scone and their pimento cheese biscuit. These two items were part of their best sellers! They also removed the croissants from the menu and never brought them back.
Jhori Lobban: Elizabeth is the best barista there! She is immensely respectful and kind and has a very nice personality. She made sure my order was correct and the latte was perfect ! Hope you guys are treating her as the asset to your establishment that she surely is.
Ravi S.: They use the lightest roast from their coffee supplier for their espresso. This results in a highly acidic, sour shot. Furthermore, milk drinks taste a bit curdled because of the extremely high acidity. If you like the espresso here, you have no sense of what good coffee is. Perplexingly, the line here is always long, indicating the sad state of coffee quality in the District.

Joseph Mathias: Cute little coffee shop in Blagden Alley. I frequent La Colombe often, this was my first one in DC. Location is GREAT, with the wall art. On a warm summer day, you can take your coffee to go and explore the many arts in the alley. The only complaint I have is that the menu is very limited, and they have only pastries (I attribute this to the fact that there’s 2 other coffee shops in the alley, that’s probably why. But it would be nice to see them add bagels or other small bites to the menu). Something else as well (and mentioned by a few others) is that there’s No WiFi, so if you’re looking to get coffee and catch up on work, this is not the best place. Staff was nice!
Phil Armstrong: Popped in here for a cup and a pastry, and enjoyed both very much. The pastry was a delicious blueberry scone with a vanilla icing drizzle on top. The medium roast drip was excellent. I like its location in the neat little alley, too.

Jenn Z: We just followed the crowed and it led us to this coffee place. It wasn’t disappointing at all! Very good coffee and bakeries. It resides in Blagden Valley which was interesting itself. It was an old shabby part of town now is under going transforming to a better place. The colorful murals lighten up the valley. Parking was easy ( from what I observed) just park on the brick road.

Ddheardya (Dd): meh, it was okay. Aztec chai was good but mostly tastes like spicy milk, would have preferred to taste more flavor aside from spice. Sandwich was overpriced for quality. Having been a barista for starbux and dunkin, could have seen a bit more friendliness from the Barista. Seemed like a bummer when i came in :/ Cool chalk board menu tho.
Liz González: I am visiting from the south and came across this location thanks to a friend/google recommendation. Very aesthetically pleasing spot! The service was super friendly and quick, and my panini and coffee were made perfectly! Really a cozy atmosphere.

Dylan Roche: This is a great coffee shop in Shaw. Good drinks, friendly staff, decent prices, and a nice big patio out front. The only downside (and this is subjective) they do not offer wifi, which is interesting during the weekday because everyone seems to come here to work outside on the patio. But overall ten out of ten, this is a great spot to have in the neighborhood.

Perks Advisor: Swings in DC brews a very consistent and good cup of coffee. It’s location is just steps from the White House. You can also pick from a variety of pastries to go down with your coffee. The shop is small but there are some seats to sip away your day. Swings roasts their coffee and is knowledgeable on all things coffee. This company has been around for years and is worth a visit if you happen to find yourself in Washington and in need of some caffeine.

Carolyn K: This is a wonderful little coffee shop and a must visit if you’re taking a coffee shop tour of DC. The parking was not great, so I had to part about 4 blocks away and walk. The shop was really cute inside and was not super crowded which was nice. The coffee and food was delicious!

Liam Mullins: I previously gave this place a lower rating for what was a once-off issue with a coffee I had ordered. Since going back, I’ve had more positive experiences. Overall, this is a great place. There are some things I would like to see changed though. (1) The limit on WiFi (I think it’s two hours). In the age of remote work, they’re missing out on work from home folks. I’ve worked from Sweet Science, only for my WiFi to elapse, even though I would have happily ordered more coffee to stay put. (2) The seating isn’t the warmest. With a couch or two, some other seating options, or even just more seating, the atmosphere could be a lot warmer. That shouldn’t stop anyone though—the coffee is great!

Ted Lai: Cortado very tasty. The vegetable quiche could have been warmed a bit longer because the inside was still very cold, but I saw potential. Scones were awesome. This place in NoMa is worth going back repeatedly.

Mischa: This is a laid back and multi-level coffee shop with a lot to offer from good coffee to alcoholic beverages to food, etc. It is also very comfortable here and I love their decor.
Scott Cornelius: Kind of confusing to get into at the moment, the coffee shop is located next door inside Commonwealth. That said, the coffee was good, and Commonwealth makes a good burrito!
Divina Pippin: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The breakfast we had was really good and very tasty. The espresso was even better, the best coffee in the area. I also love the decaf it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The barista is very good at making different toppings. The staff is very friendly. And also the strawberry topped cake is really delicious.
justabugDownUnder: Loved the coffee I had here. Reminds me of home down-under. People should come to this kind of cafes more often, rather than go to Starbucks and stuff. Local cafes should thrive rather than let the big guns take over. That’s why Starbucks never really made it in Australia except where there are tourists. Just bring your own power banks when you travel! Why four stars? The staff are very “official”.

Sahra Sakha: Today I had an espresso which was very sour and tasted like acid which could be the result of under extraction (there could be several reasons for this, low water temperature, coarse grind etc..). I guess if you drink your coffee with sugar and milk, you will not notice it much but as a coffee purist who lived in South Europe for more than a decade where a perfect espresso is to be found at every corner, this was disappointing. The location is charming though, brings a nice vibe to the neighborhood and the baristas are friendly. Given this, I am happy to try again their espresso again, and hopefully have a pleasant surprise!

Stephen Shields: Incredibly peaceful and calming after walking the Georgetown strip. The vanilla latte was a perfect temperature and silky smooth. Interesting note… their company roast their own beans and the syrups are made fresh in-house! The latte art is a nice touch to boot! The staff is incredibly friendly! Thanks for the great experience!

My friend wanted a pastry but noticed two flies around it so skipped and went to the bakery next door (dog tag bakery).
Mohammed Al-Marri: Small but cozy place, the chairs could’ve been better but everything else just compensated the experience. The staff were really kind and welcoming, helped me pick my americano beans based on my preferences. I really enjoyed the coffee as well as the avocado toast, definitely coming back again!

Saray Fischer: Stopped by this afternoon for a quick pick me up, I was surprised that this cafe was open but it feels like home , great music, soft lighting, tons of plants, and the male barista served me at my table, I loved it. I felt special and will be returning when I need to get out of the office more often . I will be recommending this chain to my coworkers , family , and friends !
Monika Raj: The staff are among the nicest folks I’ve ever met and make visiting this place worth it. However, the store consistently has issues with their online ordering system…often times it’s down or underestimates how long it will take to be ready. This in no way is the fault of the staff and they do their best to work with what they have…but this is not reliant if you are hoping to grab coffee before a meeting

Elizabeth Hung: Loved my experience and drink here! The indoor decor is so hip and cute. The menu choices all sounded amazing but I went with the matcha latte with oat milk. It was perfectly matcha-y and unsweetened (my favorite). One of the best matcha drinks I have gotten in the dc area. My friend got the chai and he said it was great as well.

Sharon Angela Naidoo: This place ticks all the boxes, good service, GREAT COFFEE and wonderful atmosphere. I have visited this coffee place everyday I stayed here. The coffee always had a personal touch. The picture below is a cortado with skim milk.

Adam Rutkowski: There needs to be some customer service training. Business opens at 7am. I showed up at 7:03. It was raining outside. The door was unlocked. I entered and was told I had to leave because you weren’t open, yet. Instead of inviting me to sit in the foyer area in a chair, out of the rain, I was escorted out of the space and the door was locked behind me… in the rain.

Peter Ferguson: I love this Blue Bottle Coffee. The locations is great. In the middle of the Union Market area. The coffee is excellent. The Baristas give great service. They are friendly. They have WIFI in case you need to stop in to work for a little bit. There is also great seating outside. This is definitely my go-to when I am in NE DC.
Sarah Safi: I’ve been going here a couple times a week for over a year now. I’ve never had such exceptional service than with Nathan and Lee-Ann. They make a great team. I never really experienced anything like that in the year or so that I’ve been going, so I was completely caught off guard. They give off such a friendly vibe & make the experience so personal. They really make the experience of your morning coffee that much better. Will definitely be returning more now & looking forward to face to face interactions with them! Thanks guys!!

Jeremy Del Moral: Blue bottle just opened near Union market. The location is large and has a coffee lab. Service was fast coffee was tasty. They offer pastries, beans, scales, Chemex and pour over kettles. Really anything you need to start your brewing at home. Prices are reasonable for exceptional coffee.

Swastika Nohara: Very delicious coffee! Their cappuccino is simply the best, right amount of everything and perfect temperature. During summer, choose Kedua Coffee with ice, very delightful and refreshing. Wonderful croissant and pastries too. There are quite plenty of space inside. Friendly shop assistants. Overall atmosphere is really nice.
Kim Pop (kimpopusa): Delicious gourmet coffee! This is really really good coffee, don’t go anywhere else if nearby. Caught them at an event pop up in Nova burbs serving “cherry blossom” coffee (rose flavor from Indonesia) which I loved so much I went into the district to drink again! Not on menu but owner was very kind to make it again. Friend got hazelnut and said that was also very good.
Ido Simyoni: Gorgeous coffeeshop in downtown DC. I had the oat milk latte which had an interesting flavor, not my regular pallet but I quickly got used to it. They have some food options sadly no gluten free bread so I couldn’t try that.
Tenny Kristiana: Came here around 9 am and it was quite a line. However service was quick and awesome. As Indonesian I love espresso mixed with coconut water. We called it cocopresso there and here they called it Klavee. Taste good, slightly sour a bit compared to one in Indonesia which is mostly sweet. Definitely will come back for Klavee and probably try their food, saw several options and all of them look good.
Wei Hsu: Americano and latte are good! Brewed coffee smells great. Nice location and the environment is bright and clean!
Ankita Chatterjee: Indonesian coffee place with limited but cute seats inside. Also has outdoor patio seating. They have alternative milk options. They have sweet treats including some Indonesian options like banana wrapped and fried like a spring roll. Overall, unique and cute. Would definitely visit again!
Sam Canchola: Very hospitable and warm, especially considering the dynamics of COVID changing every week. Ordered the owners recommendations - Brown Latte and the hot Kopi Kedua. Both were great!
Krupa Shah: Decadent coffee! Upon walking in, I was embraced with the smell of freshly brewed coffee. I ordered a vanilla latte with half the vanilla syrup amount and substituted with oat milk. The latte was heavenly and the barista made a beautiful design to add to the experience. limited in door / out door seating, and very hipster decor. Overall a cute little spot for a quick afternoon coffee fix or a solo work day if you can find a spot to sit.

Rachel: A great spot to enjoy the sunshine and a delicious iced latte on a warm summer day! I tried their pistachio rose latte and am so glad I did - what a unique blend of flavors. Indoor atmosphere is beautiful but indoor seating is pretty much non-existent. We really enjoyed sitting outside though — there were several tables, large umbrellas for shade and well-landscaped planters for ambiance. This is one of the best coffee shop patios I’ve found since moving to DC. Their wifi did not work outside though - given the paucity of indoor seating perhaps they could consider getting a wifi extender. However, there was Xfinity wifi available in this neighborhood so I was able to get connected to that instead.
Leezia Dhalla: Ordered a large latte this morning & basically got a cup of steamed milk; I think they forgot to double the coffee because of the size. Not worth the $5 but staff was nice
Jack Connolly: I was deceived by the photos of this place. It looked like a spot where the drinks would be amazing, however the espresso was lackluster and not pulled well. The barista wasn’t to be seen when I walked in. When the barista came after 1-2 minutes, she had an attitude of apathy and disappointment- as if I was an inconvenience. Maybe she’s having a bad day so I take that with a grain of salt. Overall, the aesthetics are nice, but the drink I had was not. Would not recommend.
Mario Sengco: This is my favorite coffee place in the area. For my taste, they make the best drip coffee and latte drinks. Great flavor, consistent quality, and friendly service.
M Ramachandran: Amazing! The barrista on Sat afternoon was so wonderful and welcoming. And she made the perfect espresso shot. Great patio and vibe as well.
James Ives: Really solid coffee spot in Mount Vernon Triangle which offers outdoor seating. Went here on a Saturday morning and tried their Latte, Focaccia and croissant. Everything tasted good and the coffee shop it’s self was vibrant with a good atmosphere. The only negative I took away from my experience was that they didn’t offer recycling for the cups they provided.

Sam Clark: Terrible experience. The latte had less than a shot of espresso added. Additionally, the cup cracked because the lids are extremely difficult to put on the cups. The two baristas on staff then stood and watched as I struggled to keep the drink from pouring out the cracked cup without offering any assistance. As I was the only customer in the shop at the time I find that unacceptable. After several minutes watching me struggle they finally offered to give me a new cup. No replacement drink or apology was offered. I do not recommend this place.

Martha Wilson: Hip vibe at this neighborhood coffee. Cool interior but lots of space outside. Delicious food and coffee, too. Thumbs up!
Rebecca Peters: I’ve been here several times and had pretty mixed experiences. The staff is super kind and lovely. If you’re there to work, there’s very limited seating with plug access for charging devices. In ~5 visits, I’ve never been able to get on the wifi (even with restarting devices/the wifi itself etc.) The coffee is really good, but other aspects could use some improvement; I ordered a salad (~$15!) expecting it to be pretty substantial at that price. Was disappointed when it came with only a few pieces of grapefruit, half an avocado, and stemmy greens. Overall: go for good coffee, pre-charge your devices, consider not ordering salad.
Rosa: I love the vibe, the location, the avocado toast, the coffee and pastries of Emissary, but there are a few recurring issues that I hope they address: Some of the staff are very ignorant. You need to ask for one thing several times for them to address. The tables are not always being cleaned after someone leaves. People constantly come and go and sometimes you just get to sit at the dirty table and even when you ask for a napkin to clean the table, the person doesn’t come back. The WiFi also sucks. If you need to do stuff online, you can’t rely on their WiFi.
Tatiana Padilla: Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating; a variety of small plates; and delicious coffee! The space was cute and the staff was friendly. The espresso was a bit fruity and bright— not what I expected. Wish there were more breakfast pastries/breads available throughout the day as the food menu was a bit on the expensive side.
HK: My go-to comfort cafe in the neighborhood. Coffee and pastries are great. They have ample seating space indoors and outdoors, which makes it a great rendezvous point. They offer healthy food options although the portions aren’t big.
Lisa Giorgi: Cozy casual place, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Tried the egg sandwich which was tasty. Good for breakfast and work.
Jelena Djokic: Cool, indie coffee place. It serves delicious coffee and pastries. Prices are average. We got a tasty carrot cake cupcake there. The only thing that bugged me was that we took the food outside and there was simply no argonomic way to eat it without getting super messy, so I would recommend that they get utensils for the take-out.

Michael Feigenbaum: Ive been going to compass coffee for over 5 years. This location, and apparently management is terrible. They are serving bad nitro and charging full price. They even admit to it! The general manager literally reached out and told me not to email her. She says my email response is harassment. This is truly offensive. I will attach emails. They failed a DOH health and safety inspection after I told them that I would report them if nothing was fixed. I called DCRA because they do not sell what is advertised. This 8th st location is blatantly fraudulent and I will attach the first picture which is correct nitro from their 7th st location, and then what they serve at 8th st. This is straight fraud and they know it. Don’t go here. Oh also their pastries suck and have flies on them always.

Sahar Bayounis: If you’re a hardcore coffeeholic, you won’t get enough of this coffee. I tried their ‘coffee of the day’ and it was super strong. The coffee cake was delicious, though. It went well with black coffee. 👍🏼 I didn’t like how very loud the music was. So I wouldn’t recommend working/studying there. But a quick cup of coffee in the outside seating area sounds fun.

Brian Hagan: Great location, especially for those visiting and exploring the national mall area. Barista was very kind and coffee was solid...bought some beans to take home which come in really nice tins! Definitely recommend.

Zubair Khan: The knowledge of the barista in charge was quite bad. Fact they do not serve pour-over coffee yet they charge close to 3 bucks for a drip version that is supposed to be lite roast but comes off as a Starbucks blonde roast profile. Add to this the coffee is piping hot. Shouldn’t be for a third wave coffee shop as such. Needless to say, may be good but personally wasn’t a fan.

Joseph Wilson: Just a heads up, this place didn’t have any seating available when we went, probably because of COVID. They do have a couple tables still set up outside though, but no seats. We ordered a lox bagel sandwich, an egg and cheese and beef sandwich, and a coffee. Everything was really good, but the lox bagel sandwich was exceptional! I highly recommend it if you like raw smoked salmon.

Asionna Warner: Had a drop latte for the first time and I must say as a coffee enthusiast it was an amazing experience I would try often. It’s reminds me of coffee infused whip cream as it’s thick, smooth, & frothy before getting to the delicious liquid of the drink.The ambiance is also very relaxed. David Lazar: I was back in DC visiting old friends for the first time in years and I was super excited to see that La Colombe now has a location in Chinatown. This shop is located kind of in the no-mans-land of Mass Ave but there are a few apartments buildings around so I imagine it gets a lot of foot traffic during the day. This place has the usual selection of fantastic La Colombe drinks and sweets. Try their iced latte or a cold brew can! I love the way they have built this store into the surrounding aesthetic. Love to see Philly brands expanding into this area. Check it out a support a (semi) local business!

Charlotte Meindersma (Charlotte's Law): Love this place. Had their Corsica drip coffee twice on different days. It’s a really good black drip coffee. Not sweet like some other American black (drip) coffees. Not too strong. Just how I (as a European) like it.
Patrick DuChêne: I highly recommend the oatmilk draft latte (add some simple syrup for a little more sweetness). It was a great way to start the morning. When I went, there weren’t really any pastries. I’m not sure when/if these are coming back, but the coffee is worth the stop.

Maddie Olson: First time going into a Peet’s coffee store. Walking in the aroma is super fantastic, and makes your mouth water. Customer service is super friendly and welcoming to be in DC. Lots of different options to pick from. We got a slow drip and a caramel latte with almond milk. For the latte being almond milk, I was beyond impressed. So smooth, lots of flavor, and so amazing that I had to come back and get a second coffee later in the day! ALSO the chocolate croissant was to die for! Coffee store was super clean, organized, and a perfect place to study.
Kay Pepper: Nice place with a good vibe, nice workers and good service. Overall, a great place in the city to relax and study. Much better than the coffee places in the surrounding area. Latte: I like my latte on the stronger side, so the latte was just what I liked, no problems with that. Ham and Cheese Criossant: Very crispy and fluffy, very good. Ham and cheese portion of it is on the cheap side, but still yummy.
Lily Ayres: I waited so long to try Peets and the wait was worth it! I ordered a caramel macchiato and it was delicious. Perfect amount of sweetness and a coffee flavor that was just so yummy. I also love the fact that they have decomposable straws!! I can’t wait to be able to grab another Peets coffee!
