The Wydown Coffee Bar: what do users think?
Khoi Nguyen
Khoi Nguyen: Great coffee spot located on a busy street. I recently stopped by on an early Sunday and the line was almost out the door. My friends and I ordered a regular coffee, espresso shot and a matcha latte. Prices are reasonable for DC and service was really quick. I’ll definitely be back for their breakfast pastries
Josephine Valois
Josephine Valois: I’ve had good experiences the first few times I’ve stopped by for breakfast, but this time was just the worst. $12 for avocado toast and it’s covered in so much oil I used 4 napkins to wipe it off. It’s completely soggy with oil. I unfortunately didn’t notice until I walked home to eat. The coffee is good, but get the breakfast sandwich instead.
Michael Meotti
Michael Meotti: Good coffee, great scones (I had the cherry almond, good amount of fruit and a bit of sugar icing on top...all to the good!) and nice location with comfortable indoor seating, some tables outside and a roll open garage style door/window in the front for nice weather.
Oliver Wiehe
Oliver Wiehe: The flavor of the coffee is exquisite. The coffee is so good it needs no sugar or cream. Be sure to order a orange cranberry muffin. The sugar layer has a wonderful crunch to the warm fruit flavors inside. Atmosphere is casual urban. Wydown coffee bar is a must visit when close to U street in DC.
chparatrooper88
chparatrooper88: Wydown Coffee Bar. One word…wow.Coffee is second to none. Gluten free options. Price is the best yet.
Emir Sfaxi
Emir Sfaxi: I love Wydown since I don’t live far from it. However I was really disappointed that they removed the blueberry lavender scone and their pimento cheese biscuit. These two items were part of their best sellers! They also removed the croissants from the menu and never brought them back.
Jhori Lobban
Jhori Lobban: Elizabeth is the best barista there! She is immensely respectful and kind and has a very nice personality. She made sure my order was correct and the latte was perfect ! Hope you guys are treating her as the asset to your establishment that she surely is.
Ravi S.
Ravi S.: They use the lightest roast from their coffee supplier for their espresso. This results in a highly acidic, sour shot. Furthermore, milk drinks taste a bit curdled because of the extremely high acidity. If you like the espresso here, you have no sense of what good coffee is. Perplexingly, the line here is always long, indicating the sad state of coffee quality in the District.

La Colombe Coffee Roasters: what do users think?
Joseph Mathias
Joseph Mathias: Cute little coffee shop in Blagden Alley. I frequent La Colombe often, this was my first one in DC. Location is GREAT, with the wall art. On a warm summer day, you can take your coffee to go and explore the many arts in the alley. The only complaint I have is that the menu is very limited, and they have only pastries (I attribute this to the fact that there’s 2 other coffee shops in the alley, that’s probably why. But it would be nice to see them add bagels or other small bites to the menu). Something else as well (and mentioned by a few others) is that there’s No WiFi, so if you’re looking to get coffee and catch up on work, this is not the best place. Staff was nice!
Phil Armstrong
Phil Armstrong: Popped in here for a cup and a pastry, and enjoyed both very much. The pastry was a delicious blueberry scone with a vanilla icing drizzle on top. The medium roast drip was excellent. I like its location in the neat little alley, too.
Joan Melendez
Joan Melendez: I love this space! I 💜this coffee company. I have my places in DC and NYC that I do frequent. I just am wishing and saying a little prayer... that La Colombe would look at National Harbor when they are needing their next spot!
Jorge Zurita-Coronado
Jorge Zurita-Coronado: Great location with friendly staff. Great selection of pastries as well. Inside seating is a little limited because of the pandemic. Great place to do some reading or get some work done.
Charles Michael
Charles Michael: The place does get busy because it is amazing. The staff is friendly and the location has fantastic coffee. I was able to get a lot of work done. The place does get busy because it is amazing.coffee my favorite, tried their hot chocolate for the first time and love it. Quality drinks, quality wifi, quality space. All around wonderful My go-to coffee shop in DC 😊 The people are wonderful, the ambiance cozy, and the drinks are DELICIOUS! Their iced chai tea latte is my favorite, tried their hot chocolate for the first time and love it. Quality drinks, quality wifi, quality space. All around wonderful
Jenn Z
Jenn Z: We just followed the crowed and it led us to this coffee place. It wasn’t disappointing at all! Very good coffee and bakeries. It resides in Blagden Valley which was interesting itself. It was an old shabby part of town now is under going transforming to a better place. The colorful murals lighten up the valley. Parking was easy ( from what I observed) just park on the brick road.

Bourbon Coffee: what do users think?
Ddheardya (Dd)
Ddheardya (Dd): meh, it was okay. Aztec chai was good but mostly tastes like spicy milk, would have preferred to taste more flavor aside from spice. Sandwich was overpriced for quality. Having been a barista for starbux and dunkin, could have seen a bit more friendliness from the Barista. Seemed like a bummer when i came in :/ Cool chalk board menu tho.
Liz González
Liz González: I am visiting from the south and came across this location thanks to a friend/google recommendation. Very aesthetically pleasing spot! The service was super friendly and quick, and my panini and coffee were made perfectly! Really a cozy atmosphere.
Brent Berkley
Brent Berkley: So glad I found this place while walking to the big chain coffee shop. Great coffee!
Will Dkn
Will Dkn: Great decor, based on Rwandan styles, also where the coffee is sourced from. music is on point, and the ambiance is great for getting some work done or meeting friends.
Lucius Domitius Aurelianus (Augustus)
Lucius Domitius Aurelianus (Augustus): Good tasting and well priced coffee. Service was slow but it seemed like they were quite understaffed and I ordered something which takes a while. Egg a cheese tasted good.
Tim Possible
Tim Possible: Convenient location for nearby offices, medical centers, etc. Friendly staff that remembers your order to the T. And most importantly, very good light roast coffee.
Dan Edwards
Dan Edwards: Coffee with a purpose. (And that’s just how it should be…)

The Coffee Bar: what do users think?
LP
LP: Cute space with a great dirty dirty chai and coffee selection with assorted local baked goods. There’s some great in and outdoor seating to stay a while.
Response: 🙌🙌
byron subero
byron subero: A nice little coffee spot in DC. Great service and delicious blend for their house blend.
Dylan Roche
Dylan Roche: This is a great coffee shop in Shaw. Good drinks, friendly staff, decent prices, and a nice big patio out front. The only downside (and this is subjective) they do not offer wifi, which is interesting during the weekday because everyone seems to come here to work outside on the patio. But overall ten out of ten, this is a great spot to have in the neighborhood.
Response: Thank you! 🙌
Hannah Mirviss
Hannah Mirviss: Love supporting the local coffee shop. Drinks are great, staff is very nice. A few small outdoor tables but nothing inside. Matcha is not great and the one pastry I’ve had was nothing to write home about. But coffee, vibe, staff, location great!!
Response: 🙌 🙌
Susanna Mostaghim
Susanna Mostaghim: Cute spot, reasonable prices. I don’t like that there’s only one bathroom as someone was in there for like 20min. While that’s not their fault could be better planned.
Laura Schlesinger
Laura Schlesinger: Great coffee and pastries, very friendly staff! Most of the seating is outdoors.
Response: Thank you! 🙌
Bruner Burner
Bruner Burner: Great neighborhood coffee spot. Not ideal for work requiring internet, as there is no Wi-Fi.

Swing's Coffee: what do users think?
Samantha
Samantha: Had one of the best cortado in my life for less than $4 ! Their pain au chocolat is really good too! Clean and elegant interior design made the experience very delightful ☺️
Vanessa Anderson
Vanessa Anderson: Lovely, peaceful place for studying and getting together with friends! Smells good like coffee when you come in and the service is done with speed and grace. Thanks!
Mike Galante
Mike Galante: Really excellent espresso drinks. Both the cortado and flat white were excellent.
Perks Advisor
Perks Advisor: Swings in DC brews a very consistent and good cup of coffee. It’s location is just steps from the White House. You can also pick from a variety of pastries to go down with your coffee. The shop is small but there are some seats to sip away your day. Swings roasts their coffee and is knowledgeable on all things coffee. This company has been around for years and is worth a visit if you happen to find yourself in Washington and in need of some caffeine.
Paul Jarczynski
Paul Jarczynski: Ok coffee but the toilets... my God. Bio hazard at 10am on a Wednesday.
Arianna Vranas
Arianna Vranas: Very kind staff and a delicious cold brew! I picked up a cold brew from them and walked down to the Sculpture Garden and had a lovely afternoon sipping my coffee in the sun ☀️

Sweet Science Coffee: what do users think?
Carolyn K
Carolyn K: This is a wonderful little coffee shop and a must visit if you’re taking a coffee shop tour of DC. The parking was not great, so I had to part about 4 blocks away and walk. The shop was really cute inside and was not super crowded which was nice. The coffee and food was delicious!
Response: Carolyn, thank you for stopping by and taking the time to review, mich appreciated:)! Sandra
Hind KH
Hind KH: It’s quite place to get work done. I liked their new social rose cold brew. The cinnamon roll and strawberry loaf are delicious
Response: Thank you for stopping by!
Liam Mullins
Liam Mullins: I previously gave this place a lower rating for what was a once-off issue with a coffee I had ordered. Since going back, I’ve had more positive experiences. Overall, this is a great place. There are some things I would like to see changed though. (1) The limit on WiFi (I think it’s two hours). In the age of remote work, they’re missing out on work from home folks. I’ve worked from Sweet Science, only for my WiFi to elapse, even though I would have happily ordered more coffee to stay put. (2) The seating isn’t the warmest. With a couch or two, some other seating options, or even just more seating, the atmosphere could be a lot warmer. That shouldn’t stop anyone though—the coffee is great!
Response: Thanks for the updated rating and feedback Liam, we appreciate it!
Samantha Melvin
Samantha Melvin: My husband and I stopped for a quick coffee and breakfast. Home made pop tarts were delicious and coffee was deep and rich. We both drink black and were not disappointed.
Response: Samantha, thank you for stopping by and taking the time to review us, we appreciate it:)! Sandra
Ted Lai
Ted Lai: Cortado very tasty. The vegetable quiche could have been warmed a bit longer because the inside was still very cold, but I saw potential. Scones were awesome. This place in NoMa is worth going back repeatedly.
Response: Ted, thank you so much for the feedback and taking the time to write a review! I will make sure that we increase the heating time on the Quiche. Best wishes, Sandra
monica yarur
monica yarur: LOVE the cortado! And the pastries are so delicious. Great place, 100% recommended!
Response: Hi Monica, thank you so much, we‘ll let our pastry chef know :)!
Zoe Weaver
Zoe Weaver: This is probably one of my favorite coffee shops for working in DC! Low volume music, great pastries and drinks, wifi, outlets, and friendly service. Parking in this area is a bit crazy, but overall great experience.
Response: Zoe, thank you so much for the feedback and kind words :), we appreciate it! Sandra

Qualia Coffee: what do users think?
Mischa
Mischa: This is a laid back and multi-level coffee shop with a lot to offer from good coffee to alcoholic beverages to food, etc. It is also very comfortable here and I love their decor.
Scott Cornelius
Scott Cornelius: Kind of confusing to get into at the moment, the coffee shop is located next door inside Commonwealth. That said, the coffee was good, and Commonwealth makes a good burrito!
Divina Pippin
Divina Pippin: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The breakfast we had was really good and very tasty. The espresso was even better, the best coffee in the area. I also love the decaf it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The barista is very good at making different toppings. The staff is very friendly. And also the strawberry topped cake is really delicious.
justabugDownUnder
justabugDownUnder: Loved the coffee I had here. Reminds me of home down-under. People should come to this kind of cafes more often, rather than go to Starbucks and stuff. Local cafes should thrive rather than let the big guns take over. That’s why Starbucks never really made it in Australia except where there are tourists. Just bring your own power banks when you travel! Why four stars? The staff are very “official”.
Gold Mountain Coffee Growers
Gold Mountain Coffee Growers: They source from ethical coffee farms and have amazingly fresh coffee, without pretense. What a wonderful DC business!
วรรณกานต์ พรมกลาง
วรรณกานต์ พรมกลาง: Just stop by to get my ice brown sugars escapeso oat milk, nice services ☺️will be beck. Cool place & cool people there.
Sahra Sakha
Sahra Sakha: Today I had an espresso which was very sour and tasted like acid which could be the result of under extraction (there could be several reasons for this, low water temperature, coarse grind etc..). I guess if you drink your coffee with sugar and milk, you will not notice it much but as a coffee purist who lived in South Europe for more than a decade where a perfect espresso is to be found at every corner, this was disappointing. The location is charming though, brings a nice vibe to the neighborhood and the baristas are friendly. Given this, I am happy to try again their espresso again, and hopefully have a pleasant surprise!
Response: Glad to hear you will give us another try. Espresso is hard and even the best barista can't get it right 100% of the time. If you are ever disappointed with a drink, we will be happy to remake it or replace it.

Bryan Levi
Bryan Levi: Hands down the best espresso milk drinks in the area. Lattes, cortados, all excellent. Perfectly silky steamed milk and delicious espresso. Breakfast items are also excellent. Espresso nerds will appreciate the turquoise blue Slayer.
Clinton W Spence
Clinton W Spence: Nice variety of breads for delicious breakfast and lunchtime sandwiches, specialty coffees and teas, a small selection of pastries—in a cozy, classic coffee shop or on a pleasant patio. Enjoy this independent shop just off WI Avenue between Tenleytown & Frienship Heights.
desbjet600kl
desbjet600kl: A great place to have a cup of coffee from Seattle roastery. They have a delicious sandwiches and pastry.
young kim
young kim: This is the cutest little coffee shop! Really cozy and welcoming atmosphere to enjoy some coffee and cookies.. their Nutella latte and matcha & red velvet cookies are the best! If I lived closer, I’d come here all the time!!
Timor El-Dardiry
Timor El-Dardiry: We’ve been regulars for the past two years and this place just keeps getting better. Excellent sandwiches, perfect espressos, and super service. This is a true gem for the neighborhood.
Gabriel Fineman
Gabriel Fineman: The coffee is very good and the breakfast sandwiches (I tried most of them) are freshly made to order, a cut above anything else in the area, on excellent bread, generous in size and a good value. Has large outdoor seating area.
Joaquin Muñoz
Joaquin Muñoz: Great menu, and super tasty espresso! And the art on the wall was super Cool! Big props to whoever had the little TV running showing the World Cup:)
Sawyer Moseley
Sawyer Moseley: The bulgogi beef breakfast sandwich was nothing short of incredible, friendly customer service and delicious coffee.

Grace Street Coffee Roasters: what do users think?
Stephen Shields
Stephen Shields: Incredibly peaceful and calming after walking the Georgetown strip. The vanilla latte was a perfect temperature and silky smooth. Interesting note… their company roast their own beans and the syrups are made fresh in-house! The latte art is a nice touch to boot! The staff is incredibly friendly! Thanks for the great experience!
Luis Mantilla
Luis Mantilla: Very cute on the inside but where sometimes that means a lack luster coffee this place delivers! Coffee was very good. The people were very kind. The neighborhood/street had tons of style. Overall great experience and definitely stopping by again. Photo attached is of the coffee plus the bagel shop I went to before. Great combination.
Fernanda Lanzagorta
Fernanda Lanzagorta: The coffee is good. The only down point is that even though this coffee shop is listed in several websites as a good place to work, you should be aware that during the weekend this doesn’t apply. They also have food in case you want to seat and enjoy. Available seating outside. Staff not to friendly.
Emma Rose Wooten
Emma Rose Wooten: Cute cafe on a quaint little side street in Georgetown. Feels very granola since it’s part of a cycling shop. It doesn’t seem like the coziest place to study or do work but definitely a good place to socialize or regroup after a lot of walking!
Kinga Szilagyi
Kinga Szilagyi: Good coffee but it’s inside of a store so it’s super noisy, not the best for working or taking work calls It’s noisy and loud as there is something going on at all times! There aren’t enough power plugs either but the Wi-Fi is good! I read that it’s one of the best cafes and I’m kinda disappointed
David Pohly
David Pohly: Outstanding coffee, but also a great place for food. Loved the grilled cheese and tomato soup.
Ido Simyoni
Ido Simyoni: Nicely designed coffee shop if you’re looking to work remotely some people were even taking zoom calls). I got the oat milk latte and wasn’t really a fan of the coffee roast . My friend wanted a pastry but noticed two flies around it so skipped and went to the bakery next door (dog tag bakery).
Mohammed Al-Marri
Mohammed Al-Marri: Small but cozy place, the chairs could’ve been better but everything else just compensated the experience. The staff were really kind and welcoming, helped me pick my americano beans based on my preferences. I really enjoyed the coffee as well as the avocado toast, definitely coming back again!

Krystal Perez
Krystal Perez: Cute little coffee shop I found on my lunch break this evening , the baristas are so sweet and creative I felt at home here ... they allow inside seating and presented me with a fancy latte, with art included! Keep it up ladies, your the best !!!
Response: Thanks for the feedback Krystal! Next time you visit trying one of our cold brew options, I recommend the Flower Power.
Saray Fischer
Saray Fischer: Stopped by this afternoon for a quick pick me up, I was surprised that this cafe was open but it feels like home , great music, soft lighting, tons of plants, and the male barista served me at my table, I loved it. I felt special and will be returning when I need to get out of the office more often . I will be recommending this chain to my coworkers , family , and friends !
Monika Raj
Monika Raj: The staff are among the nicest folks I’ve ever met and make visiting this place worth it. However, the store consistently has issues with their online ordering system…often times it’s down or underestimates how long it will take to be ready. This in no way is the fault of the staff and they do their best to work with what they have…but this is not reliant if you are hoping to grab coffee before a meeting
Response: Monika, thank you so much for the feedback and for bring this issue to our attention. We will address this right away.
Elizabeth Hung
Elizabeth Hung: Loved my experience and drink here! The indoor decor is so hip and cute. The menu choices all sounded amazing but I went with the matcha latte with oat milk. It was perfectly matcha-y and unsweetened (my favorite). One of the best matcha drinks I have gotten in the dc area. My friend got the chai and he said it was great as well.
Response: Awesome news Elizabeth, thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed the Matcha! See you soon!
Sharon Angela Naidoo
Sharon Angela Naidoo: This place ticks all the boxes, good service, GREAT COFFEE and wonderful atmosphere. I have visited this coffee place everyday I stayed here. The coffee always had a personal touch. The picture below is a cortado with skim milk.
Fred Kingman
Fred Kingman: My wife and I agree that this cafe has good drip coffee, and great customer service. There is indoor and outdoor seating, we chose outdoors. She had the breakfast burrito. I tried the skinny and it was wholesome. Definitely worth a second visit next time were in town.
Response: Fred, thank you so much for your feedback. Next time your in town, your coffee and breakfast sandwich will be on us./
Adam Rutkowski
Adam Rutkowski: There needs to be some customer service training. Business opens at 7am. I showed up at 7:03. It was raining outside. The door was unlocked. I entered and was told I had to leave because you weren’t open, yet. Instead of inviting me to sit in the foyer area in a chair, out of the rain, I was escorted out of the space and the door was locked behind me… in the rain.
Response: Hi Adam - I'm so sorry to hear about your experience this morning. It is definitely not how we should have welcomed you in out of the rain and served you right away even as we were setting. I've addressed this with the team and I want to invite you back in for coffee and a treat on us to make up for this. DeeDee ,the manager on site will be there and will take care of you! So sorry again and looking forward to seeing you again. -Greg

Peter Ferguson
Peter Ferguson: I love this Blue Bottle Coffee. The locations is great. In the middle of the Union Market area. The coffee is excellent. The Baristas give great service. They are friendly. They have WIFI in case you need to stop in to work for a little bit. There is also great seating outside. This is definitely my go-to when I am in NE DC.
Sarah Safi
Sarah Safi: I’ve been going here a couple times a week for over a year now. I’ve never had such exceptional service than with Nathan and Lee-Ann. They make a great team. I never really experienced anything like that in the year or so that I’ve been going, so I was completely caught off guard. They give off such a friendly vibe & make the experience so personal. They really make the experience of your morning coffee that much better. Will definitely be returning more now & looking forward to face to face interactions with them! Thanks guys!!
Kenny Myers
Kenny Myers: Great coffee but way too expensive. $17.50 for a coffee and croissant sandwich is insane. Service is excellent though.
Chanpen Tee
Chanpen Tee: I ordered decaf ice mocha. It is good coffee with nice aroma. The batista is super friendly. The place is also nice and clean
Noel Shu
Noel Shu: Just ordinary coffee, watered down like the rest. Funny thing is, this seems to be the only branch near DC that has no signature aroma of blue coffee experience from their NOLA iced coffee.
Jeremy Del Moral
Jeremy Del Moral: Blue bottle just opened near Union market. The location is large and has a coffee lab. Service was fast coffee was tasty. They offer pastries, beans, scales, Chemex and pour over kettles. Really anything you need to start your brewing at home. Prices are reasonable for exceptional coffee.
Rick Filippetti
Rick Filippetti: That’s some smooth coffee and the staff were very friendly. Super clean location and the merchandise is very well crafted.
Ana Ano
Ana Ano: I am a big fan of Blue bottle coffee. The place is big and bright however, they need to pay attention to cleaning in general and particularly the coffee cup.

DUA DC Coffee: what do users think?
Swastika Nohara
Swastika Nohara: Very delicious coffee! Their cappuccino is simply the best, right amount of everything and perfect temperature. During summer, choose Kedua Coffee with ice, very delightful and refreshing. Wonderful croissant and pastries too. There are quite plenty of space inside. Friendly shop assistants. Overall atmosphere is really nice.
Kim Pop (kimpopusa)
Kim Pop (kimpopusa): Delicious gourmet coffee! This is really really good coffee, don’t go anywhere else if nearby. Caught them at an event pop up in Nova burbs serving “cherry blossom” coffee (rose flavor from Indonesia) which I loved so much I went into the district to drink again! Not on menu but owner was very kind to make it again. Friend got hazelnut and said that was also very good.
Ido Simyoni
Ido Simyoni: Gorgeous coffeeshop in downtown DC. I had the oat milk latte which had an interesting flavor, not my regular pallet but I quickly got used to it. They have some food options sadly no gluten free bread so I couldn’t try that.
Tenny Kristiana
Tenny Kristiana: Came here around 9 am and it was quite a line. However service was quick and awesome. As Indonesian I love espresso mixed with coconut water. We called it cocopresso there and here they called it Klavee. Taste good, slightly sour a bit compared to one in Indonesia which is mostly sweet. Definitely will come back for Klavee and probably try their food, saw several options and all of them look good.
Wei Hsu
Wei Hsu: Americano and latte are good! Brewed coffee smells great. Nice location and the environment is bright and clean!
Ankita Chatterjee
Ankita Chatterjee: Indonesian coffee place with limited but cute seats inside. Also has outdoor patio seating. They have alternative milk options. They have sweet treats including some Indonesian options like banana wrapped and fried like a spring roll. Overall, unique and cute. Would definitely visit again!
Sam Canchola
Sam Canchola: Very hospitable and warm, especially considering the dynamics of COVID changing every week. Ordered the owners recommendations - Brown Latte and the hot Kopi Kedua. Both were great!
Krupa Shah
Krupa Shah: Decadent coffee! Upon walking in, I was embraced with the smell of freshly brewed coffee. I ordered a vanilla latte with half the vanilla syrup amount and substituted with oat milk. The latte was heavenly and the barista made a beautiful design to add to the experience. limited in door / out door seating, and very hipster decor. Overall a cute little spot for a quick afternoon coffee fix or a solo work day if you can find a spot to sit.
Response: Glad to know that you had a great experience. Thank you for taking the time to share it. Hope to see you back!

Brew'd Coffee Bar: what do users think?
Ido Simyoni
Ido Simyoni: I really liked the coffee and I thought it was a cute spot too. I got lavender oat milk latte.Service wasn’t great nor friendly.
Rachel
Rachel: A great spot to enjoy the sunshine and a delicious iced latte on a warm summer day! I tried their pistachio rose latte and am so glad I did - what a unique blend of flavors. Indoor atmosphere is beautiful but indoor seating is pretty much non-existent. We really enjoyed sitting outside though — there were several tables, large umbrellas for shade and well-landscaped planters for ambiance. This is one of the best coffee shop patios I’ve found since moving to DC. Their wifi did not work outside though - given the paucity of indoor seating perhaps they could consider getting a wifi extender. However, there was Xfinity wifi available in this neighborhood so I was able to get connected to that instead.
Leezia Dhalla
Leezia Dhalla: Ordered a large latte this morning & basically got a cup of steamed milk; I think they forgot to double the coffee because of the size. Not worth the $5 but staff was nice
Jack Connolly
Jack Connolly: I was deceived by the photos of this place. It looked like a spot where the drinks would be amazing, however the espresso was lackluster and not pulled well. The barista wasn’t to be seen when I walked in. When the barista came after 1-2 minutes, she had an attitude of apathy and disappointment- as if I was an inconvenience. Maybe she’s having a bad day so I take that with a grain of salt. Overall, the aesthetics are nice, but the drink I had was not. Would not recommend.
Mario Sengco
Mario Sengco: This is my favorite coffee place in the area. For my taste, they make the best drip coffee and latte drinks. Great flavor, consistent quality, and friendly service.
M Ramachandran
M Ramachandran: Amazing! The barrista on Sat afternoon was so wonderful and welcoming. And she made the perfect espresso shot. Great patio and vibe as well.
James Ives
James Ives: Really solid coffee spot in Mount Vernon Triangle which offers outdoor seating. Went here on a Saturday morning and tried their Latte, Focaccia and croissant. Everything tasted good and the coffee shop it’s self was vibrant with a good atmosphere. The only negative I took away from my experience was that they didn’t offer recycling for the cups they provided.
Response: James, I'm so glad you had a good time here a few weeks ago! We ARE looking into recycling options and hope you'll come back and see us again soon! At your service, Nick
Sam Clark
Sam Clark: Terrible experience. The latte had less than a shot of espresso added. Additionally, the cup cracked because the lids are extremely difficult to put on the cups. The two baristas on staff then stood and watched as I struggled to keep the drink from pouring out the cracked cup without offering any assistance. As I was the only customer in the shop at the time I find that unacceptable. After several minutes watching me struggle they finally offered to give me a new cup. No replacement drink or apology was offered. I do not recommend this place.
Response: Sam, I want to sincerely apologize for your experience here last week. The quality and service you received are in no way emblematic of what we aspire to be. When you have a moment would you contact me at nlongobardi@altamareagroup.com so that I might make up for your experience? Again, I am so sorry, and I look forward to hearing from you. At your service, Nick

Emissary: what do users think?
Martha Wilson
Martha Wilson: Hip vibe at this neighborhood coffee. Cool interior but lots of space outside. Delicious food and coffee, too. Thumbs up!
Rebecca Peters
Rebecca Peters: I’ve been here several times and had pretty mixed experiences. The staff is super kind and lovely. If you’re there to work, there’s very limited seating with plug access for charging devices. In ~5 visits, I’ve never been able to get on the wifi (even with restarting devices/the wifi itself etc.) The coffee is really good, but other aspects could use some improvement; I ordered a salad (~$15!) expecting it to be pretty substantial at that price. Was disappointed when it came with only a few pieces of grapefruit, half an avocado, and stemmy greens. Overall: go for good coffee, pre-charge your devices, consider not ordering salad.
Rosa
Rosa: I love the vibe, the location, the avocado toast, the coffee and pastries of Emissary, but there are a few recurring issues that I hope they address: Some of the staff are very ignorant. You need to ask for one thing several times for them to address. The tables are not always being cleaned after someone leaves. People constantly come and go and sometimes you just get to sit at the dirty table and even when you ask for a napkin to clean the table, the person doesn’t come back. The WiFi also sucks. If you need to do stuff online, you can’t rely on their WiFi.
Tatiana Padilla
Tatiana Padilla: Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating; a variety of small plates; and delicious coffee! The space was cute and the staff was friendly. The espresso was a bit fruity and bright— not what I expected. Wish there were more breakfast pastries/breads available throughout the day as the food menu was a bit on the expensive side.
HK
HK: My go-to comfort cafe in the neighborhood. Coffee and pastries are great. They have ample seating space indoors and outdoors, which makes it a great rendezvous point. They offer healthy food options although the portions aren’t big.
Lisa Giorgi
Lisa Giorgi: Cozy casual place, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Tried the egg sandwich which was tasty. Good for breakfast and work.
Jelena Djokic
Jelena Djokic: Cool, indie coffee place. It serves delicious coffee and pastries. Prices are average. We got a tasty carrot cake cupcake there. The only thing that bugged me was that we took the food outside and there was simply no argonomic way to eat it without getting super messy, so I would recommend that they get utensils for the take-out.
Bhinesha Seetaram
Bhinesha Seetaram: The best matcha latte. I took mine with almond milk.

Compass Coffee: what do users think?
Ephraim Fields
Ephraim Fields: Super quick and welcoming service matched with warm, perfectly frothy and delicious drinks.
Response: I am glad you had a great experience! We hope to see you again soon!
Theodore Schneider
Theodore Schneider: These employees are very pleasant and helpful especially Sidney and Jessica. This is very creative coffee. I have a Lot of respect and love for all of you
Michael Feigenbaum
Michael Feigenbaum: Ive been going to compass coffee for over 5 years. This location, and apparently management is terrible. They are serving bad nitro and charging full price. They even admit to it! The general manager literally reached out and told me not to email her. She says my email response is harassment. This is truly offensive. I will attach emails. They failed a DOH health and safety inspection after I told them that I would report them if nothing was fixed. I called DCRA because they do not sell what is advertised. This 8th st location is blatantly fraudulent and I will attach the first picture which is correct nitro from their 7th st location, and then what they serve at 8th st. This is straight fraud and they know it. Don’t go here. Oh also their pastries suck and have flies on them always.
Karen McGarity
Karen McGarity: I was able to describe how I make coffee at home and get a suggestion that hit the mark! I wish I lived closer or had a visit schedule, so I could use this coffeehouse regularly. When are you coming to Boston!?!
Response: Thanks, Karen! We're so glad you enjoyed your experience. I can't say whether or not we'll ever make it out to Boston, but please visit us next time you're in DC!
Lauren Frazier
Lauren Frazier: Really nice people and great coffee. I had a maple latte (seasonal) and loved it. Service was quick and friendly. Looked like they were a dog friendly place too!
Xavier Barnes
Xavier Barnes: By far the best nitro cold brew money can buy.Good, very fast service, standard prices.
Heinrich Botes
Heinrich Botes: Not just a coffee shop...it’s an experience! Trendy yet functional store with friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Melvin Johnson
Melvin Johnson: This one is a nice one. Friendly staff. Not really that big but nice seating in their upstairs area.

Compass Coffee: what do users think?
Sahar Bayounis
Sahar Bayounis: If you’re a hardcore coffeeholic, you won’t get enough of this coffee. I tried their ‘coffee of the day’ and it was super strong. The coffee cake was delicious, though. It went well with black coffee. 👍🏼 I didn’t like how very loud the music was. So I wouldn’t recommend working/studying there. But a quick cup of coffee in the outside seating area sounds fun.
Response: Thank you so much for your feedback. We'll certainly keep our ears open around the café for the music level fluctuations. Cheers.
Ryan Brown
Ryan Brown: Compass Coffee is a necessary part of the DC experience, phenomenal! Excellent vanilla cold brew.
Robert Gluzman
Robert Gluzman: One of the best cappuccinos I ever had. So smooth and flavorful!
Response: Thank you so much for your kinds words! We look forward to serving you again. Cheers!
Angelina Hicks
Angelina Hicks: Amazing Cherry Blossom Cold Brew! Very nice and clean café with wonderful service!
Response: Hi Angelina, thanks for the great feedback! Glad you enjoyed your experience, and we look forward to seeing you again!
Brian Hagan
Brian Hagan: Great location, especially for those visiting and exploring the national mall area. Barista was very kind and coffee was solid...bought some beans to take home which come in really nice tins! Definitely recommend.
Claire F
Claire F: Coffee was super bitter, like they hadn’t cleaned the machines in a while. The AC was nice, and I was feeling generous, so this was going to be a 3-star review. But then the barista who had rung me up minutes earlier accosted me as I was trying to use the restroom on my way out asking “are you even a paying customer?”, with a don’t-try-to-steal-our-restroom smirk. Stunned, I showed him my receipt. Lovely customer service, Compass Coffee.
Response: Hi Claire, I am sorry to hear about your negative experience. We never want our customers to leave without a legendary experience. I would love to keep chatting and learn more about how we can improve, please email me at hello@compasscoffee.com. Thanks Claire, I hope to hear from you soon.
Heather Johnson
Heather Johnson: Stopped by to grab coffee after a work event nearby. Caramel latte and blueberry scone were tasty. The two guys working were prompt and friendly, and the restrooms were clean.
Response: Hi Heather, thanks for the feedback. We are glad to hear that you had a great experience while at the café. We hope to see you again soon!
Ahmed Alameen
Ahmed Alameen: I wanted to taste something new.Very nice, cozy and welcoming.
Response: Hi Ahmed, I am so glad to hear you enjoyed your visit. We look forward to seeing you again!

Compass Coffee: what do users think?
Zubair Khan
Zubair Khan: The knowledge of the barista in charge was quite bad. Fact they do not serve pour-over coffee yet they charge close to 3 bucks for a drip version that is supposed to be lite roast but comes off as a Starbucks blonde roast profile. Add to this the coffee is piping hot. Shouldn’t be for a third wave coffee shop as such. Needless to say, may be good but personally wasn’t a fan.
Response: Hi Zubair, thanks for the feedback. I am sorry to hear that your experience wasn't great. We hope to stop by again so that we can provide an awesome experience for you!
Margaret Sisson
Margaret Sisson: I really enjoyed my coffees and croissant. But most of all I enjoyed watching the baristas as they greeted everyone with a smile. It made my day watching them work and laugh together.
Emily Smith
Emily Smith: A must see in the Shaw area! Adorable little coffee shop with the sweetest baristas and great coffee selections. Awesome atmosphere and the cutest little free stickers. Nice view at the windows and great location for work or informal meetings. Check it out!!
Response: We are glad that you stopped by Emily! We hope to see you again soon :)
Orion Novinger
Orion Novinger: Great coffee and tea and great atmosphere; the building was set up so you could view the coffee grinding and preparation process along with the packaging of the product for the sale in the building. Packed with college students but otherwise a warm atmosphere and inclusive staff.

Jacob's Coffee House: what do users think?
Joseph Wilson
Joseph Wilson: Just a heads up, this place didn’t have any seating available when we went, probably because of COVID. They do have a couple tables still set up outside though, but no seats. We ordered a lox bagel sandwich, an egg and cheese and beef sandwich, and a coffee. Everything was really good, but the lox bagel sandwich was exceptional! I highly recommend it if you like raw smoked salmon.
Charlotte Meindersma (Charlotte's Law)
Charlotte Meindersma (Charlotte's Law): Best bagels in town! Really good European style coffee (American size!), lovely people, really nice outside seating and they provide cookies for dogs!
Henrietta
Henrietta: Came here randomly because I needed some coffee. I love when I run into a place that delivers quality food and service without having to do any advanced research! I got the cold brew coffee with oat milk and sugar free vanilla/ caramel. I also got a hummus veggie wrap and added Turkey and red pepper sauce. Sooo good! Please consider adding a Turkey wrap to the menu! I’ll be back 😎
Amelia Anthony
Amelia Anthony: Absolutely love this place! Jazz (the owner) became more than just someone I bought my coffee from, she would always stop to talk when I came in. She’s so thoughtful and sweet and the food and coffee is amazing! My favorite thing from there is the chicken salad on a croissant. Support small business, shop here!
Rachel Cipkins
Rachel Cipkins: Pretty good breakfast food! They are very COVID safe. There is no indoor seating even though the pictures on maps shows so
Jime Colado
Jime Colado: I loved visiting! The owner was absolutely kind to us, we chatted a bit and had the most amazing breakfast. The food and coffee are delicious and feels like home, so cozy. I loved the concept, and I’m looking forward to come back soon!
Shant Sarkissian
Shant Sarkissian: This shop has respectable coffee. Sadly, the breakfast breads are sincerely awful. The bagels are flattened, right out of the refrigerator and hardened. And the croissant was far from “fluffy” and crusty, but instead bloated and again - hardened on the inside. Overpriced and underwhelming.
AL Brandes
AL Brandes: Average coffee, but was the best iced caramel macchiato my daughter ever had (so she claimed). Sandwiches were great and the bubble tea drinks were good quality

La Colombe Coffee Roasters: what do users think?
Asionna Warner
Asionna Warner: Had a drop latte for the first time and I must say as a coffee enthusiast it was an amazing experience I would try often. It’s reminds me of coffee infused whip cream as it’s thick, smooth, & frothy before getting to the delicious liquid of the drink. The ambiance is also very relaxed. If your thinking of choosing between this coffee shop and a chain like Starbucks don’t think about it definitely go here!
Hari Jagannath
Hari Jagannath: Cafe Latte was done really well! Great ambience and friendly staff though pastries were not that interesting. Go for the coffee and enjoy the minimalist but calm vibe.
Fine PhotoGraphics
Fine PhotoGraphics: Stayed in The Hampton Inn ConventionCenter location across the street but wanted something much better than their free hotel coffee. La Colombe is steps out the door and has really good coffee. The barista was super helpful in letting us know about their flavors. Very positive experience in a delightful, convenient location. We’ll be back next DC trip.
David Lazar
David Lazar: I was back in DC visiting old friends for the first time in years and I was super excited to see that La Colombe now has a location in Chinatown. This shop is located kind of in the no-mans-land of Mass Ave but there are a few apartments buildings around so I imagine it gets a lot of foot traffic during the day. This place has the usual selection of fantastic La Colombe drinks and sweets. Try their iced latte or a cold brew can! I love the way they have built this store into the surrounding aesthetic. Love to see Philly brands expanding into this area. Check it out a support a (semi) local business!
Hind KH
Hind KH: Great coffee as usual. However, they still don’t have the Pre-pandemic seating options. Friendly staff!
Charlotte Meindersma (Charlotte's Law)
Charlotte Meindersma (Charlotte's Law): Love this place. Had their Corsica drip coffee twice on different days. It’s a really good black drip coffee. Not sweet like some other American black (drip) coffees. Not too strong. Just how I (as a European) like it.
Patrick DuChêne
Patrick DuChêne: I highly recommend the oatmilk draft latte (add some simple syrup for a little more sweetness). It was a great way to start the morning. When I went, there weren’t really any pastries. I’m not sure when/if these are coming back, but the coffee is worth the stop.

Peet's Coffee: what do users think?
Maddie Olson
Maddie Olson: First time going into a Peet’s coffee store. Walking in the aroma is super fantastic, and makes your mouth water. Customer service is super friendly and welcoming to be in DC. Lots of different options to pick from. We got a slow drip and a caramel latte with almond milk. For the latte being almond milk, I was beyond impressed. So smooth, lots of flavor, and so amazing that I had to come back and get a second coffee later in the day! ALSO the chocolate croissant was to die for! Coffee store was super clean, organized, and a perfect place to study.
Kay Pepper
Kay Pepper: Nice place with a good vibe, nice workers and good service. Overall, a great place in the city to relax and study. Much better than the coffee places in the surrounding area. Latte: I like my latte on the stronger side, so the latte was just what I liked, no problems with that. Ham and Cheese Criossant: Very crispy and fluffy, very good. Ham and cheese portion of it is on the cheap side, but still yummy.
Lily Ayres
Lily Ayres: I waited so long to try Peets and the wait was worth it! I ordered a caramel macchiato and it was delicious. Perfect amount of sweetness and a coffee flavor that was just so yummy. I also love the fact that they have decomposable straws!! I can’t wait to be able to grab another Peets coffee!
Zerah Kawami
Zerah Kawami: Great place to grab a coffee in the morning to start the day. The inside is lovely and very relaxed.
Christopher king
Christopher king: Iced sugar free vanilla latte tastes like Heaven in my mouth. Excellent place! I love starbucks but this is a contender
Fedor Potanin
Fedor Potanin: Delightful coffee shop. Pleasant design, friendly staff, and calm ambience. The tea came sweeter than I usually take it but welcomed nonetheless. I will definitely come back.
