The Wydown Coffee Bar: what do users think?

Khoi Nguyen: Great coffee spot located on a busy street. I recently stopped by on an early Sunday and the line was almost out the door. My friends and I ordered a regular coffee, espresso shot and a matcha latte. Prices are reasonable for DC and service was really quick. I’ll definitely be back for their breakfast pastries

Josephine Valois: I’ve had good experiences the first few times I’ve stopped by for breakfast, but this time was just the worst. $12 for avocado toast and it’s covered in so much oil I used 4 napkins to wipe it off. It’s completely soggy with oil. I unfortunately didn’t notice until I walked home to eat. The coffee is good, but get the breakfast sandwich instead.

Michael Meotti: Good coffee, great scones (I had the cherry almond, good amount of fruit and a bit of sugar icing on top...all to the good!) and nice location with comfortable indoor seating, some tables outside and a roll open garage style door/window in the front for nice weather.

Muniba Khan: Really great coffee, I'll definitely be back to try the smoked salmon and pastries! Service was great and quick and the place itself is really cute. I came late morning on a Monday and it wasn't too busy. I only wish that they had wifi because it would be a great place to study or work otherwise. Update: I tried the pastries and they were very good! The scones are absolutely amazing, I think I got a cranberry almond scone and I loved it. I also got the jalapeno biscuits- they were really good but I felt that the jalapeno flavor was subtle.

Oliver Wiehe: The flavor of the coffee is exquisite. The coffee is so good it needs no sugar or cream. Be sure to order a orange cranberry muffin. The sugar layer has a wonderful crunch to the warm fruit flavors inside. Atmosphere is casual urban. Wydown coffee bar is a must visit when close to U street in DC.

chparatrooper88: Wydown Coffee Bar. One word…wow.Coffee is second to none. Gluten free options. Price is the best yet.

Emir Sfaxi: I love Wydown since I don’t live far from it. However I was really disappointed that they removed the blueberry lavender scone and their pimento cheese biscuit. These two items were part of their best sellers! They also removed the croissants from the menu and never brought them back.

Jhori Lobban: Elizabeth is the best barista there! She is immensely respectful and kind and has a very nice personality. She made sure my order was correct and the latte was perfect ! Hope you guys are treating her as the asset to your establishment that she surely is.

Ravi S.: They use the lightest roast from their coffee supplier for their espresso. This results in a highly acidic, sour shot. Furthermore, milk drinks taste a bit curdled because of the extremely high acidity. If you like the espresso here, you have no sense of what good coffee is. Perplexingly, the line here is always long, indicating the sad state of coffee quality in the District.

BJONESADVENTURE: Perfect coffee. If you are fortunate enough to live close to Wydown then I'm sure it's already your go to spot. If you are passing through DC make this a stop on your list.

La Colombe Coffee Roasters: what do users think?

Joseph Mathias: Cute little coffee shop in Blagden Alley. I frequent La Colombe often, this was my first one in DC. Location is GREAT, with the wall art. On a warm summer day, you can take your coffee to go and explore the many arts in the alley. The only complaint I have is that the menu is very limited, and they have only pastries (I attribute this to the fact that there’s 2 other coffee shops in the alley, that’s probably why. But it would be nice to see them add bagels or other small bites to the menu). Something else as well (and mentioned by a few others) is that there’s No WiFi, so if you’re looking to get coffee and catch up on work, this is not the best place. Staff was nice!

Tarek Ghaly: By far the best coffee in DC! I have tried several coffee places around Washington but I would rate this as the best of them all...staff are very friendly and welcoming. The place is cozy and in a quiet area behind Marriott courtyard..tried the biscotti and cannele from their bakeries and they weren't as good as expected.. restrooms are clean and tidy.. I would definitely visit again.

Phil Armstrong: Popped in here for a cup and a pastry, and enjoyed both very much. The pastry was a delicious blueberry scone with a vanilla icing drizzle on top. The medium roast drip was excellent. I like its location in the neat little alley, too.

Josh Roberts: You can't beat the charming location of this coffee shop. I've been working nearby at the convention center and various area hotels for a while but I didn't know about this hidden gem called "Blagden Alley." With its colorful murals and wide cobblestone streets, it's such a gift to DC. It's like if Old Town Alexandria had an artsier vibe. Anyway, back to La Colombe. I had a cappuccino here and found it to have a light, frothy texture and a robust flavor. After being outside in what felt like 20 degree weather, this was a much needed respite.

Joan Melendez: I love this space! I 💜this coffee company. I have my places in DC and NYC that I do frequent. I just am wishing and saying a little prayer... that La Colombe would look at National Harbor when they are needing their next spot!

Aaron Peters: Great selection of single source coffees - it's unclear if they come from a single farm or just a single region. Super friendly staff, and they have oat milk chai on tap.

Jorge Zurita-Coronado: Great location with friendly staff. Great selection of pastries as well. Inside seating is a little limited because of the pandemic. Great place to do some reading or get some work done.

Charles Michael: The place does get busy because it is amazing. The staff is friendly and the location has fantastic coffee. I was able to get a lot of work done. The place does get busy because it is amazing.coffee my favorite, tried their hot chocolate for the first time and love it. Quality drinks, quality wifi, quality space. All around wonderful My go-to coffee shop in DC 😊 The people are wonderful, the ambiance cozy, and the drinks are DELICIOUS! Their iced chai tea latte is my favorite, tried their hot chocolate for the first time and love it. Quality drinks, quality wifi, quality space. All around wonderful

Sergio Ortiz: I absolutely love the style of this place. Small, hole-in-the-wall joint that serves excellent coffee. It's like a secret gift to the area. Danny the hostess was knowledgeable and knows her coffee! The pour-overs here are great and they feature various types of both espresso and drip coffees from dark to light! Music is enjoyable and not distracting. The style of the pottery they use is incredibly beautiful and striking. It comes from a handmade seller in Italy which gives it an authentic feel to touch. Definitely coming again next time I visit DC!

Jenn Z: We just followed the crowed and it led us to this coffee place. It wasn’t disappointing at all! Very good coffee and bakeries. It resides in Blagden Valley which was interesting itself. It was an old shabby part of town now is under going transforming to a better place. The colorful murals lighten up the valley. Parking was easy ( from what I observed) just park on the brick road.

Swing's Coffee: what do users think?

Samantha: Had one of the best cortado in my life for less than $4 ! Their pain au chocolat is really good too! Clean and elegant interior design made the experience very delightful ☺️

Vanessa Anderson: Lovely, peaceful place for studying and getting together with friends! Smells good like coffee when you come in and the service is done with speed and grace. Thanks!

Frank Mikolajczak: It's a very straightforward no fluff coffee shop. They aren't trying to sell you "stuff". It's just their great quality roasting and classic coffee drinks. This place is good to sit for a few with a latte or just run in between meetings and get something to go.

Katherine Jones: Way better than chain coffee. And they have several coffee origins. I'm taking one back home.

Alabama OUTSIDErs: The coffee was great and the staff was very friendly! You aren't (as of late Dec 2021) encouraged to stay inside after you get your order, so we weren't able to enjoy the ambiance so much. There was a table outside, under the portico of the building it's in. So there IS a place to sit, out of the rain, if you need it.

Mike Galante: Really excellent espresso drinks. Both the cortado and flat white were excellent.

Perks Advisor: Swings in DC brews a very consistent and good cup of coffee. It’s location is just steps from the White House. You can also pick from a variety of pastries to go down with your coffee. The shop is small but there are some seats to sip away your day. Swings roasts their coffee and is knowledgeable on all things coffee. This company has been around for years and is worth a visit if you happen to find yourself in Washington and in need of some caffeine.

Paul Jarczynski: Ok coffee but the toilets... my God. Bio hazard at 10am on a Wednesday.

Arianna Vranas: Very kind staff and a delicious cold brew! I picked up a cold brew from them and walked down to the Sculpture Garden and had a lovely afternoon sipping my coffee in the sun ☀️

Bojan Divjak: First, they do not serve in porcelain cups but in cardboard ones. Secondly, the staff should be a little kinder. Third, coffee is okay, but it has some line of acidity, which I don't like.

Compass Coffee: what do users think?

Sahar Bayounis: If you’re a hardcore coffeeholic, you won’t get enough of this coffee. I tried their ‘coffee of the day’ and it was super strong. The coffee cake was delicious, though. It went well with black coffee. 👍🏼 I didn’t like how very loud the music was. So I wouldn’t recommend working/studying there. But a quick cup of coffee in the outside seating area sounds fun.
Response: Thank you so much for your feedback. We'll certainly keep our ears open around the café for the music level fluctuations. Cheers.

Brian Hagan: Great location, especially for those visiting and exploring the national mall area. Barista was very kind and coffee was solid...bought some beans to take home which come in really nice tins! Definitely recommend.

Claire F: Coffee was super bitter, like they hadn’t cleaned the machines in a while. The AC was nice, and I was feeling generous, so this was going to be a 3-star review. But then the barista who had rung me up minutes earlier accosted me as I was trying to use the restroom on my way out asking “are you even a paying customer?”, with a don’t-try-to-steal-our-restroom smirk. Stunned, I showed him my receipt. Lovely customer service, Compass Coffee.
Response: Hi Claire, I am sorry to hear about your negative experience. We never want our customers to leave without a legendary experience. I would love to keep chatting and learn more about how we can improve, please email me at hello@compasscoffee.com. Thanks Claire, I hope to hear from you soon.

Michael Anderson: The service, wow! The coffee, wow! I think I just found my new favorite Java spot. A step above the rest! Attention to detail and I got my order back super fast!! I'll be a repeat customer as long as the excellence is there.
Response: Hi Michael, thanks so much for the awesome feedback! We look forward to seeing you again :)

Angelina Hicks: Amazing Cherry Blossom Cold Brew! Very nice and clean café with wonderful service!
Response: Hi Angelina, thanks for the great feedback! Glad you enjoyed your experience, and we look forward to seeing you again!

Heather Johnson: Stopped by to grab coffee after a work event nearby. Caramel latte and blueberry scone were tasty. The two guys working were prompt and friendly, and the restrooms were clean.
Response: Hi Heather, thanks for the feedback. We are glad to hear that you had a great experience while at the café. We hope to see you again soon!

Nathaniel Zorach: It's a good spot with good coffee and great service. I have subtracted two stars for this "cashless" absurdity, which is clearly just an attempt to restrict who can shop at this business without actually improving the ostensible public health aspect in the slightest.
Response: Hello, we're so glad you had a pleasant experience at our café. We do accept cash. We just ask for exact change or as close as possible. As we do not carry cash to provide change. We hope to see you again soon. Cheers.

Love Lacy: First time at this location. Came for the collaboration with Rent The Runway. Despite being extra crowded the line ran smoothly with no long wait. I got a caramel cold brew. My favorite drink from here. The space is great and I will definitely check it out on a regular day.

Matheson Harris: Liked most of what we ordered. The Nutella mocha was pretty weak and didn’t taste like Nutella or really even coffee. The nitro maple cold brew was great. The baked goods all awesome. Needs a bit more seating as many were standing around jockeying for a chair.

Ryan Brown: Compass Coffee is a necessary part of the DC experience, phenomenal! Excellent vanilla cold brew.

Filter Coffeehouse & Espresso Bar - Foggy Bottom: what do users think?

Benjamin W.: Filter has been a high quality independent coffee place in DC, close to many George Washington University buildings. It was renovated in the last half of 2021, but retained many of the great staff people. Quality coffee, chill atmosphere. It's just not a place to camp out and do work or stuff like that

Jadon Marianetti: This is the anti Starbucks coffee shop. It's also connected to one of the most lovely inviting lobbies that was recently renovated in DC. They only use ceremony coffee, the best roastery in the Mid-Atlantic. They used to only do french press because the best beans in the mid-Atlantic and french press is what people who really like coffee want to drink. They also now do pour overs and espresso drinks. They don't do Wi-Fi and laptops. They encourage conversation. it's not for everybody... But they are my fav coffee shops in DMV.

Emilee Tin: Great Staff & Owner. Coffee and tea were fantastic! Vanilla Coconut Tea was to die for 10/10. Relaxing, comfortable, and quiet sitting area to drink a beverage and get work done. Got productive studying and assignments done. Good mid day pick me up. Close enough to campus that I don’t have to leave too much time to get to class, but far enough that I am not distracted by everything.

Michelle Brown: We were excited to visit this place to try the French press coffee. We were looking forward to sitting down and enjoying the coffee with a breakfast pastry. When we entered, we were handed a mask before we could approach the counter. Asked if we were going to drink it there and did we want ceramic mugs. We said yes that would be great. We were then told we had to show proof of vaccine before we could use ceramic mugs!! Seriously!! Most ridiculous thing I have ever been asked since the pandemic started. There were only 2 stand up tables in the front. You have to go to the back of the building which puts you in the lobby of a building. Coffee was okay, French press wads served in 2 small paper cups and the girl behind the counter had to put the cream in. I prefer to make my own.

Caleb Trantham: Just went for the first time today and it's great! They have a selection of V60 and other Hario and Fellow products for home brewers along with many single origin Ceremony coffees to buy. If you're a coffee geek, this is your place. The staff were very nice and showed me how to clean the thermos I got, and the Ethiopian pour over I got was delicious too. Definitely going back! Glad to have them open once more.

Patrick Walsh: 5 stars for the coffee, but even by DC standards it's way overpriced. $7 plus tax for an iced latte, and one day later I got an iced latte of equal quality and volume (these are both third-wave shops) at Emissary x Pergamino for $4.50 plus tax. Paying for the neighborhood?

David Roche: Best coffee i've had so far in DC. Knowledgable baristas, they do a mean long black. The only negative is the lack of/awkward seating space

Matt Graham: Good coffee and muffins. Huge, hidden seating area. A much better place to work than my freezing cold, shared office.

Dondré: This place is a good coffee shop. It has up stairs seating and downstairs standing room with bar tops and tables facing the street. There is no WiFi here, they encourage conversation. Upstairs is a dope rendition of DC in the future, a collaboration between artists and architects which is really cool. I'm not a coffee guy but the person I was with said the coffee is really good. My chai was alright.

Alexander Smallwood: This place makes my day every morning. They source great coffees and know what to do with them. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and competent. The culture is accessible, but undeniably quality centric. It's not the experimental, multi-roaster, brew lab type place that I generally look for, but it is the dedicated, consistent, friendly, quality oriented place that I'm stoked to have right next to my office.

Brew'd Coffee Bar: what do users think?

Justin Schmid: My coffee this morning. I ordered a cappuccino and this is what came out. It's at least double the size of a proper cap. But I noticed that the foam looked great (barely any bubbles) and a bit of latte art. It actually tasted good and was the right temperature. So it was a tasty espresso drink, if not what I'd consider a cappuccino. The baristas were very nice, too, which always helps. Next time, I'll try a cortado.

Ido Simyoni: I really liked the coffee and I thought it was a cute spot too. I got lavender oat milk latte.Service wasn’t great nor friendly.

Rachel: A great spot to enjoy the sunshine and a delicious iced latte on a warm summer day! I tried their pistachio rose latte and am so glad I did - what a unique blend of flavors. Indoor atmosphere is beautiful but indoor seating is pretty much non-existent. We really enjoyed sitting outside though — there were several tables, large umbrellas for shade and well-landscaped planters for ambiance. This is one of the best coffee shop patios I’ve found since moving to DC. Their wifi did not work outside though - given the paucity of indoor seating perhaps they could consider getting a wifi extender. However, there was Xfinity wifi available in this neighborhood so I was able to get connected to that instead.

Leezia Dhalla: Ordered a large latte this morning & basically got a cup of steamed milk; I think they forgot to double the coffee because of the size. Not worth the $5 but staff was nice

Jack Connolly: I was deceived by the photos of this place. It looked like a spot where the drinks would be amazing, however the espresso was lackluster and not pulled well. The barista wasn’t to be seen when I walked in. When the barista came after 1-2 minutes, she had an attitude of apathy and disappointment- as if I was an inconvenience. Maybe she’s having a bad day so I take that with a grain of salt. Overall, the aesthetics are nice, but the drink I had was not. Would not recommend.

Mario Sengco: This is my favorite coffee place in the area. For my taste, they make the best drip coffee and latte drinks. Great flavor, consistent quality, and friendly service.

M Ramachandran: Amazing! The barrista on Sat afternoon was so wonderful and welcoming. And she made the perfect espresso shot. Great patio and vibe as well.

James Ives: Really solid coffee spot in Mount Vernon Triangle which offers outdoor seating. Went here on a Saturday morning and tried their Latte, Focaccia and croissant. Everything tasted good and the coffee shop it’s self was vibrant with a good atmosphere. The only negative I took away from my experience was that they didn’t offer recycling for the cups they provided.
Response: James, I'm so glad you had a good time here a few weeks ago! We ARE looking into recycling options and hope you'll come back and see us again soon! At your service, Nick

Sam Clark: Terrible experience. The latte had less than a shot of espresso added. Additionally, the cup cracked because the lids are extremely difficult to put on the cups. The two baristas on staff then stood and watched as I struggled to keep the drink from pouring out the cracked cup without offering any assistance. As I was the only customer in the shop at the time I find that unacceptable. After several minutes watching me struggle they finally offered to give me a new cup. No replacement drink or apology was offered. I do not recommend this place.
Response: Sam, I want to sincerely apologize for your experience here last week. The quality and service you received are in no way emblematic of what we aspire to be. When you have a moment would you contact me at nlongobardi@altamareagroup.com so that I might make up for your experience? Again, I am so sorry, and I look forward to hearing from you. At your service, Nick

Austin Graff: Brew'd Coffee Bar is the newest coffee shop in Mt. Vernon Square by the Capital View hostel and another coffee shop, Chez Lily. Here's what's to love: 1) Outdoor seating: There's oddly no seats inside, but there are plenty outside. That translates- only go when it's not raining outside. 2) Service: My barista was very friendly and fun to chat with. 3) Coffee: It's good. They brew La Colombe. The odd thing is the layout. You walk in and step down a few stairs to order your coffee or grab-n-go food. The coffee area takes up most of the space and looks like a space ship.
Response: Austin, Thanks so much for checking us out! Glad you had a good experience and we hope to see you again soon! At your service, Nick

Bourbon Coffee: what do users think?

Coleman Hutchins: I want to like Bourbon Coffee but their cups constantly leak all over the place (after every sip you end up with drips of coffee on your hands). When they first opened in Tenleytown I used to frequent, but the lids never seemed sized right for the cups. I pointed this out, but they never changed them. The cups were flimsy and of lower quality than other coffee chains (lids pop off if you put a little too much pressure when you grab it). I thought it was local to the Tenleytown shop. Today I had the same issue downtown on L ST. I'm rooting for this coffee shop as I love Rwandan coffee so hopefully someone sees this and switches up their cup/lid order. Probably some finance dude looking to cut costs. You can't be cheap about what you put your product in. After 3 years how does this go unnoticed?

S G: Love the coffee here and no its not spiked coffee. Bourbon is actually a plant's name from where coffee is sourced! The coffee is deep and bold, the milk consistent and frothy. The venue is beautiful! With a clear Kenyan theme. Spacious too.

Ddheardya (Dd): meh, it was okay. Aztec chai was good but mostly tastes like spicy milk, would have preferred to taste more flavor aside from spice. Sandwich was overpriced for quality. Having been a barista for starbux and dunkin, could have seen a bit more friendliness from the Barista. Seemed like a bummer when i came in :/ Cool chalk board menu tho.

Liz González: I am visiting from the south and came across this location thanks to a friend/google recommendation. Very aesthetically pleasing spot! The service was super friendly and quick, and my panini and coffee were made perfectly! Really a cozy atmosphere.

Brent Berkley: So glad I found this place while walking to the big chain coffee shop. Great coffee!

Heather: Had the virunga as a pour over and it was really good. Well described from their menu. I'd recommend this place for a coffee on the go

Will Dkn: Great decor, based on Rwandan styles, also where the coffee is sourced from. music is on point, and the ambiance is great for getting some work done or meeting friends.

Lucius Domitius Aurelianus (Augustus): Good tasting and well priced coffee. Service was slow but it seemed like they were quite understaffed and I ordered something which takes a while. Egg a cheese tasted good.

Tim Possible: Convenient location for nearby offices, medical centers, etc. Friendly staff that remembers your order to the T. And most importantly, very good light roast coffee.

Dan Edwards: Coffee with a purpose. (And that’s just how it should be…)

Tynan Coffee & Tea: what do users think?

Nathan Bickell: Price on the menu is not the price.... It felt like the tax on my orders were absurdly high so i asked for a receipt. Turns out there is a "recommended service" automatically added to your order, and then tax on top of that. The receipt still has recommended gratuity, so this isn't a tip... also it can't be a tip if you HAVE to pay it... Also you don't even get the option to accept or decline a receipt... I had to affirmatively ask for it... also shady and clearly done to keep people oblivious to the charge. Absolutely nothing in the store or the menu indicates this is the case. If you need to raise your prices fine... but just raise the price! Don't add some hidden fee to every bill. It's a nice place but I'm not going back to support nonsense business practices like this.

Jessica C: This place has my favorite lattes/mochas. I think it’s because of the textured milk. Their seasonal honey lavender latte was fantastic — sweet but not sickeningly so. Their ancho chili mocha has the exact right amount of spice. Unfortunately though, these don’t translate to their iced coffee counterparts. If you want a flavored drink, order it hot, as the flavoring separates and you can taste powdered cinnamon (or whatever it is) when served cold. Great selection of pastries including bullfrog bagels. This is always where I go for a treat.

Herbert Meisner: When I move into a neighborhood, I really try to become a part of the community. My favorite thing to do is find coffee shops to try out and meet the staff. Before I moved to Columbia Heights, I visited a bunch of coffee shops. Tynan is by far my favorite coffee shop in DC (and honestly, ever!), and holds an incredibly special place in my heart because it was the first place I dined indoors and sat in to work after being fully vaccinated. The staff are incredibly friendly (shoutout to John, Leti, and Maria!), their food is great (especially their power bagel, love bullfrog bagels and the BMT and grown up grilled cheese), and I love their homemade syrups for lattes. The staff are so personal, I brought my parents to the coffee shop and introduced them to the owner. Its a lovely place, lovely vibe, favorite coffee, and super convenient since its right next to the west entrance of the Columbia Heights metro. Its my go-to local coffee shop, and I can't praise it or recommend it enough!

Audrey Jane: Ordered a delicious cafe con leche. Their ginger flavor was great. But I came here specifically to work on homework the register worker informed me that the manager turns off the Wi-Fi on the weekend?? The description for this place advertises wifi, I was disappointed when there wasn’t any. Had to go to another place, wish I didn’t spend my money here

Margot Igland Skarpeteig: Perfect espresso - so sweet! And patient and super friendly staff.

Shey Wilkin: Made a quick stop into Tynan during our trip to DC pre-pandemic. Nothing too memorable, but I do recall it being really close to the bus stop, which made it super convenient, since we were strictly traveling by free public transport at the time. Husband had that delicious looking waffle, egg, and cheese sandwich sitting in a pool of syrup. I think I got a turkey avocado sandwich. I would go here again.

Real Live Blue: The everything bagel, blueberry waffle and turkey sandwich are amazing🔥🔥🔥🔥

Chris Dock: Writing this on my phone because their wifi is that bad. Decent place to come for food, the coffee is just okay, and I can't recommend it at all if you need to get work done. Go to Tryst or Elle instead nearby.

Haim Haviv: Laptop-friendly neighborhood cafe. However, the bagel my breakfast sandwich was served on was dry and internet is limited so you need a code every hour. Otherwise friendly staff and a spacious place.

Nancy Cosner: Amazing. Chilli ancho mocha. My new fave. I like spicy. This has got just a touch at the end. Barista super helpful and friendly. My first visit. Will definitely return.

Peregrine Espresso: what do users think?

Emily Smith: Great little coffee shop! No indoor seating, so factor that in, and a small selection but great brews. Very sweet people and cute place to lounge.

Kyle Van Hecke: Pro: Great coffee - top 1% for DC. Cons: (current as of 5 March 2022) They got rid of pour overs during the pandemic and never brought them back! They also have a self-imposed mask mandate (even tho CDC, DC government, US government, etc all dropped theirs). Bottom line: this is a 5 star coffee shop that is shooting themselves in the foot. Happy to update my rating when pour-overs return and they follow CDC guidance. Let me know too so I can come back to my favorite coffee shop!
Response: Hey Kyle thanks for your high praise we will post on our social media (@peregrinedc on both Instagram and Twitter) when we are able to make these service changes we all miss, so stay tuned…

Eze Travel: SOLID Great options, both, hot and cold drinks. Tried a classic late and also one of the cold drinks. Good customer service and lovely shop in a good location.
Response: Thanks for stopping by, and for the high praise!

Cristine C: Peregrine takes coffee seriously! Love how the staff explained to me in detail the taste and origin of the beans. Free oat milk and milk on the side bar. Will definitely come back!

Brendan Lazarus: I cannot speak for the "espresso" quality as I did not try it, but to me any specialty espresso bar in the USA that serves iced coffee over cold brew is not cutting it - especially in a city with a warm climate. Seems to be a DC wide issue anyway as few places serve proper homemade cold brewed coffee. Will return in the winter for straight espresso and reevaluate.

Ary Arifin: Great Coffee! no matter what you order.. a personal favorite for the longest time, have been going to their Eastern Market store due to proximity to the workplace, but they also have another store in Union Market, and their quality is consistently good 😊 friendly staff, overall great service!

kaledev: Had great coffee but there are only three seats outside and none inside. So I'd end up getting something next door if I wanted to sit down for a bit.

Sam Odle: Looking for a friendly place to caffeinate and meet up/get some work done? You have to try Peregrine. It’s pricey compared to chain coffee shops and seating is limited inside but for me the extra cents are well worth it. The baristas rock, the coffee is good, and I’ve never had an issue with the WiFi.

Brad Bichsel: One of the best in DC! Multiple locations and all provide excellence. This location, Eastern Market Area, has a great vibe with lots of great walking and little shops and places to eat close by. Grab a cup and go for a stroll. The Baristas are always friendly, knowledgeable and never in a hurry... which is a good thing. They take time to make a good cup or latte. Using locally roasted beans by SmallPlanesDC. Americano and Latte are always on point. If you’re looking for a good Third Wave style coffee shop or just good coffee in general this is the place to go. They also have a great selection of tea.

Winston Rodz: I would lile to give a five star review due to the fact that the place was neat, staff was friendly, enviroment was chic. But, I do not like much Robusta grain coffee. I always prefer Arabica. Although, barista even gave me a glass of water without asking which I appreciated it

Coffee Nature: what do users think?

Bryan Levi: Hands down the best espresso milk drinks in the area. Lattes, cortados, all excellent. Perfectly silky steamed milk and delicious espresso. Breakfast items are also excellent. Espresso nerds will appreciate the turquoise blue Slayer.

Kayla Hyland: A a cozy space with a good amount of seeing room. They have a decent selection of drinks and many teas on offer. I was able to set up shop with my laptop and get some work done for a while. They have food that smells good, but I didn't try any. Edit: I did go back and get a sausage egg and cheese bagel. The quality of the sausage was just ok, but over all it was worth while and I enjoyed the treat. I wish they were open on Sundays. An additional note: on a cold day the inside gets cold, too, due to the small space and the constant flow of people. So wear a sweater!

Clinton W Spence: Nice variety of breads for delicious breakfast and lunchtime sandwiches, specialty coffees and teas, a small selection of pastries—in a cozy, classic coffee shop or on a pleasant patio. Enjoy this independent shop just off WI Avenue between Tenleytown & Frienship Heights.

desbjet600kl: A great place to have a cup of coffee from Seattle roastery. They have a delicious sandwiches and pastry.

young kim: This is the cutest little coffee shop! Really cozy and welcoming atmosphere to enjoy some coffee and cookies.. their Nutella latte and matcha & red velvet cookies are the best! If I lived closer, I’d come here all the time!!

Timor El-Dardiry: We’ve been regulars for the past two years and this place just keeps getting better. Excellent sandwiches, perfect espressos, and super service. This is a true gem for the neighborhood.

Gabriel Fineman: The coffee is very good and the breakfast sandwiches (I tried most of them) are freshly made to order, a cut above anything else in the area, on excellent bread, generous in size and a good value. Has large outdoor seating area.

Joaquin Muñoz: Great menu, and super tasty espresso! And the art on the wall was super Cool! Big props to whoever had the little TV running showing the World Cup:)

Sawyer Moseley: The bulgogi beef breakfast sandwich was nothing short of incredible, friendly customer service and delicious coffee.

Wayne Clark: I really like the rearrangement of chairs and tables inside the cafe. It is now so much easier to order and wait for your drinks and food. The creama on the cappuccinos isn't quite like that of the previous owners but is getting close.

Zeke's Coffee of DC - Downtown: what do users think?

Ido Simyoni: Cute coffeeshop with hipster vibes. Coffee was great. I got lavender oat milk latte and it was good.

Suzana Kedron: Nice tucked away coffee shop. Excellent service and likewise excellent coffee.

Sam Buck: The coffee at Zeke's may be the best coffee I've ever had! We each got a coffee that was absolutely out of this world. The iced mocha tasted like dessert, and my wife's iced americano tasted fresh and quality. There is some limited outside and inside seating, but Zeke's atmosphere is modern and inviting.

Kelly Peck: Great little shop, best latte I’ve had in a while and my girlfriend loved her black coffee. Friendly staff and and good atmosphere. Great stop before hitting the monuments.

Elyse Horvath: Great little coffee place tasty coffee and a nice clean bathroom! it’s definitely small but worth your while you can also buy bags of there coffee and other zekes coffee merch you may want from shirts and cups to stickers never underestimate the power of a good local coffee and a clean bathroom especially that later being in a city and all

vignesh s: Best coffee I have had in recent times!!Try out their honey lavender coffee!

Noah Ifergan: Great spot! Good coffee. Not a lot of workspace though.

Christopher Ramnarine: This is some great lattes! I wish I could have gone into the store but what they have is an outdoor setup and you have to order online and they will being it out to you. i ordered a caramel latte with oat milk and it was delicious one of the more flavorful lattes I've had in a while.

Tracy Bonay: Very good coffee. Got an “Iced Dirty Chai”My daughter got a hot Americano with simple syrup.Everything all natural here.

jeffrey nester: Zekes has freshly roasted coffee beans. I enjoyed the Ethiopian beans.

Sweet Science Coffee: what do users think?

Carolyn K: This is a wonderful little coffee shop and a must visit if you’re taking a coffee shop tour of DC. The parking was not great, so I had to part about 4 blocks away and walk. The shop was really cute inside and was not super crowded which was nice. The coffee and food was delicious!
Response: Carolyn, thank you for stopping by and taking the time to review, mich appreciated:)! Sandra

Hind KH: It’s quite place to get work done. I liked their new social rose cold brew. The cinnamon roll and strawberry loaf are delicious
Response: Thank you for stopping by!

Dondré: A nice coffee shop. I'm not a coffee drinker but the chai is pretty good. They have an in house blend they make from scratch. Sweet science coffee has baked goods as well as oat meals and juices. The staff is good and will answer all your questions.
Response: Thank you for stopping by and the feedback! Sandra

Liam Mullins: I previously gave this place a lower rating for what was a once-off issue with a coffee I had ordered. Since going back, I’ve had more positive experiences. Overall, this is a great place. There are some things I would like to see changed though. (1) The limit on WiFi (I think it’s two hours). In the age of remote work, they’re missing out on work from home folks. I’ve worked from Sweet Science, only for my WiFi to elapse, even though I would have happily ordered more coffee to stay put. (2) The seating isn’t the warmest. With a couch or two, some other seating options, or even just more seating, the atmosphere could be a lot warmer. That shouldn’t stop anyone though—the coffee is great!
Response: Thanks for the updated rating and feedback Liam, we appreciate it!

Samantha Melvin: My husband and I stopped for a quick coffee and breakfast. Home made pop tarts were delicious and coffee was deep and rich. We both drink black and were not disappointed.
Response: Samantha, thank you for stopping by and taking the time to review us, we appreciate it:)! Sandra

Rick Kemp: I found out about sweet science coffee in the daily coffee news. I realized I had to go and I walked over 40 minutes to get there and back. I would have walked much, much further. I have been to many coffee shops in many cities in the United States and most have pastries. This coffee shop pastries are beyond outstanding. So much so that I left with two bags of the pastries. Even if you are not a coffee drinker it's worth going simply for the pastries. They have two talented pastry chefs on-site and that makes all the difference. It is also my understanding that in the afternoon there is a different pastry offering which I have not yet had the pleasure of trying. When it comes to the coffee this is a very unique shop in that they have your typical espresso drinks but with very great coffees. In the multiple brewing area, which opens at 10:00 a.m. daily, those really interested exploring the limitless bounds of coffee flavors will be delighted with all the options. Hopefully, the photos will give you a good idea of the ever-changing coffee options and the available brewing methods. One of the very unique aspects of this coffee shop is that they determine which brew method is the best for a specific coffee and yes you should leave it to the professionals. I see this more and more at the better coffee shops where they will use the brew method that best suits the coffees flavor profile. You will have the opportunity to taste coffee flavors that you would never think are possible. Enjoy.

Ted Lai: Cortado very tasty. The vegetable quiche could have been warmed a bit longer because the inside was still very cold, but I saw potential. Scones were awesome. This place in NoMa is worth going back repeatedly.
Response: Ted, thank you so much for the feedback and taking the time to write a review! I will make sure that we increase the heating time on the Quiche. Best wishes, Sandra

monica yarur: LOVE the cortado! And the pastries are so delicious. Great place, 100% recommended!
Response: Hi Monica, thank you so much, we‘ll let our pastry chef know :)!

Zoe Weaver: This is probably one of my favorite coffee shops for working in DC! Low volume music, great pastries and drinks, wifi, outlets, and friendly service. Parking in this area is a bit crazy, but overall great experience.
Response: Zoe, thank you so much for the feedback and kind words :), we appreciate it! Sandra

Whitney Dobson: The coffee is delicious here but customer focus is off. After having two coffee drinks (~$10) over 1.5h I was set to order lunch, but realized I'd been kicked off the internet with a black out period of 5 hours. I asked the staff if there was a way to extend it and they said no. At this point there was me and one other person in the store. I had to pack up and go to Peets around the corner to order lunch and another coffee to keep working. Cool spot and good coffee, but have some procedures in place that don't make it a great place to knock out work and keep guzzling good coffee. Peets is around the corner and much more accommodating.

Casey's Coffee Inc: what do users think?

Kris Mazowieski: My first time ordering a breakfast bagel. I was more than shocked when my eggs were green !? Looks like mildew. Unbelievable they let that leave their business.
Response: I'm Kris. I'm so sorry about the problems you had with your order. I remember your online order earlier today. When we receive a new order, we make every sandwich with a fresh egg. The egg may have been overcooked, but it is safe. https://www.incredibleegg.org/recipes/egg-tips-tricks/why-eggs-turn-green/ We carefully consider the comments our customers give us, and the information you shared with us has been given to our manager so he can utilize it to further our service.

Gligor Tashkovich: I entered the store around 2:10 pm and ordered a chicken salad sandwich on rye. The cashier had trouble entering the order on the cash register and didn't know how to generate a receipt -- and it wasn't until I gave the receipt to the sandwich maker that I realized it was for someone else's order! The sandwich was lightly toasted and tasty if a bit too much mayonnaise. There was no lettuce on the sandwich despite ordering it.
Response: I am deeply sorry for the unpleasant experience you had in our store. Because the cashier was still in training, he could make an error with your order. If you let us know when you come back to our store, I will be able to provide you with greater service on your order.

Meg Pike: Such a nice cafe! It was recommended to me by a coworker and I got the omelet wrap and a chai latte, both were delicious and the workers are all very nice! Definitely visit if you can!
Response: Thank you.

david carter: I absolutely love Casey's they are a small business and have amazing food you will enjoy your experience if you visit there business trust me.

Matthew Chin: Good coffee, decent food, all reasonably priced, and conveniently located.
Response: thank you

John Jason Lucas: Not sure why this place averages a 4. Food was hot and fresh, coffee was good.
Response: Thanks, Lucas!

Jongyoung Na: Avocado cheese melt, surely the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Store is clean, well organize, and most importantly, staffs were very friendly. Best coffee shop in DC!
Response: (Translated by Google) Thanks, Thanks (Original) Thanks, Gracias

Mike Williams: Hands down, the best coffee shop in the area! Not just bc they have great coffee but also bc John and his wife that run the shop are amazing. The roast beef, turkey club, and infinity sandwich are great. The BLT will blow your socks off... Double macchiatos or a daily red eye is my go to and are exceptional. All in all the best part of this shop is the people. It is always a joy to John and his wife. This shop is nestled back off the busy street and the environment provides a great place to ponder and focus on your tasks for the day. Thanks John and Mrs. Lee for taking care of your customers. Looking forward to seeing you later this week. Mike

Kristina Sokol: I have been here a few times and over all it is pretty good. I have only tried the sandwiches and breakfast pastries so far and haven't been disappointed. The Ester and grilled cheese sandwiches are tasty and come in a huge portion, the coffe cake muffins are probably my favorite of the pastries. The staff is always nice enough and efficient. My only complaint is the coffee, which isn't terrible, it's just kind of eh. I went with their house medium roast, I will try a different one next time, maybe it will be better. Definitely a better option than starbucks.

Matthew Jorstad: This is a very great establishment. they are extremely freindly and take great care in making the food and drinks .when an employee noticed i was squinting too see the menu they offered me a paper one so i could see better.👍🏻
Response: Thanks

Blue Bottle Coffee: what do users think?

Peter Ferguson: I love this Blue Bottle Coffee. The locations is great. In the middle of the Union Market area. The coffee is excellent. The Baristas give great service. They are friendly. They have WIFI in case you need to stop in to work for a little bit. There is also great seating outside. This is definitely my go-to when I am in NE DC.

Sarah Safi: I’ve been going here a couple times a week for over a year now. I’ve never had such exceptional service than with Nathan and Lee-Ann. They make a great team. I never really experienced anything like that in the year or so that I’ve been going, so I was completely caught off guard. They give off such a friendly vibe & make the experience so personal. They really make the experience of your morning coffee that much better. Will definitely be returning more now & looking forward to face to face interactions with them! Thanks guys!!

Ilsy Marilyn: This coffee is completely overrated. The portions are small but the prices are bigger. The quality of the coffee should be able to match with the price tag but it doesn't. I used to go here every day but I stopped so now I go to the other coffee shop in the same block but carries a much better quality and portion on their drinks. The prices are relatively the same but the richness of the coffee they carry is much better than Blue Bottle. It's a shame Blue Bottle is just another fancy Starbucks.

James C: Excellent coffee shop in a great location! High-quality drinks and friendly baristas. Cool, open-to-the-outside concept in warmer weather. Beware -- drinks are definitely on the expensive side, though oatmilk is included if you like that. Your choices for a flavored latte are pretty much either their sweet latte or a mocha -- they don't do other flavored syrups so go elsewhere if that is what you're craving.

Kenny Myers: Great coffee but way too expensive. $17.50 for a coffee and croissant sandwich is insane. Service is excellent though.

Chanpen Tee: I ordered decaf ice mocha. It is good coffee with nice aroma. The batista is super friendly. The place is also nice and clean

Noel Shu: Just ordinary coffee, watered down like the rest. Funny thing is, this seems to be the only branch near DC that has no signature aroma of blue coffee experience from their NOLA iced coffee.

Jeremy Del Moral: Blue bottle just opened near Union market. The location is large and has a coffee lab. Service was fast coffee was tasty. They offer pastries, beans, scales, Chemex and pour over kettles. Really anything you need to start your brewing at home. Prices are reasonable for exceptional coffee.

Rick Filippetti: That’s some smooth coffee and the staff were very friendly. Super clean location and the merchandise is very well crafted.

Ana Ano: I am a big fan of Blue bottle coffee. The place is big and bright however, they need to pay attention to cleaning in general and particularly the coffee cup.

Java House: what do users think?

John Louie: Neighborhood mainstay does their own roasting. Very nice espresso drinks. Gelato looked tempting even on this very cold day! Plenty of space for dining in.

Michael Montesinos: Absolutely not! Coffee is terrible, with a bitter and burned after taste. It didnt seem like the barista really cared to take the time to make a good roast or coffee. Staff was nice though, and gelato tasted good.

Daniel Albert: A 17th Street staple. Cozy neighborhood vibe. Good food, nice place to hang out, and they always play good music.

Nemer Muallem: I really enjoyed the outdoor patio. Went for breakfast on a sunday morning and the line was moving fast. They are efficient and the food is great. I got the turkey brie panini and the salmon and cream cheese everything bagel and both were delicious. I attached pictures of the menu as it was difficult to find online.

Ioana Balas: Walked out after noticing they charge $1.50 for non-dairy milk. Charging anything is already pretty bad, but this is just outrageous. Cost too high and no regard for the environmental implications of encouraging dairy milk consumption.

Madison Glennie: I always come to Java House for my coffee. They have a great outdoor sitting area. Their coffee is quality, and they are always very nice to customers.

Marilin Wong: Nice outdoor seating with outlets if you need to do some work on the computer. Great location :). Recommend the oatmeal and the bagel sandwiches!

Jayme Birgy: Java House is a well-established cafe in the Historic Dupont Circle neighborhood. Situated on the warm side of Q St NW, Java House’s large patio offers power outlets along the railing, as well as umbrellas and an extendable awning for shade during warmer days. Java House is a great place to study, grab weekend (or any day) breakfast & lunch, or extend your work-from-home office for a few hours.

anthony danks: Off 17th street. Has outside tables in shade and some air conditioned inside. Big range of coffee, Chi, and sandwich menus. Roasts it's own coffee. Quiet strong. Prices above average. Range of pastries sometimes Bananas. Clean toilet you ask for a coin. ATM. Some times you might have Moscitoes. Busy street parking meters. No

Andrea Carlucci: I love this place for a "on the run" coffee! The staff is extremely friendly and its kept extremely clean!

Compass Coffee: what do users think?

Makenna Gott: Experience was fine. Coffee was good, BUT it seemed like the drink wasn't mixed. Once I got to the bottom that's where all the syrup flavor was. I would still go back
Response: Hi Makenna, thanks for the feedback. I shared this note with the team to ensure they are making quality drinks every time. We hope to see you again soon!

Ephraim Fields: Super quick and welcoming service matched with warm, perfectly frothy and delicious drinks.
Response: I am glad you had a great experience! We hope to see you again soon!

Michael Feigenbaum: Ive been going to compass coffee for over 5 years. This location, and apparently management is terrible. They are serving bad nitro and charging full price. They even admit to it! The general manager literally reached out and told me not to email her. She says my email response is harassment. This is truly offensive. I will attach emails. They failed a DOH health and safety inspection after I told them that I would report them if nothing was fixed. I called DCRA because they do not sell what is advertised. This 8th st location is blatantly fraudulent and I will attach the first picture which is correct nitro from their 7th st location, and then what they serve at 8th st. This is straight fraud and they know it. Don’t go here. Oh also their pastries suck and have flies on them always.

Karen McGarity: I was able to describe how I make coffee at home and get a suggestion that hit the mark! I wish I lived closer or had a visit schedule, so I could use this coffeehouse regularly. When are you coming to Boston!?!
Response: Thanks, Karen! We're so glad you enjoyed your experience. I can't say whether or not we'll ever make it out to Boston, but please visit us next time you're in DC!

Theodore Schneider: These employees are very pleasant and helpful especially Sidney and Jessica. This is very creative coffee. I have a Lot of respect and love for all of you

Candice Shimanek: The beverages here are exemplary. The London Fog and Matcha Latte were like pillowy sweet dream clouds in my mouth. Trust me, this is a good thing. The Nutella Mocha was decadent and created with love.

Madeline Guth: I love Compass Coffee and feel that both the drinks and service are great. Quality of coffee is excellent, especially the cold brew. They also make drinks FAST and you rarely have to wait very long, even if it seems busy. Only taking off a star because I feel that some of the seasonal drinks can be sickly sweet and/or oddly flavored (e.g. the mint cold brew tasted like straight up toothpaste even though I asked for half the amount of syrup!), and it's usually safer to stick to the basics.

ottiviani morris: Awesome and pleasant staff. The coffee has always been excellent every time I've been to this location. Modest atmosphere and always a pleasure to have a seat and enjoy your coffee or a latte.

Xavier Barnes: By far the best nitro cold brew money can buy.Good, very fast service, standard prices.

Heinrich Botes: Not just a coffee shop...it’s an experience! Trendy yet functional store with friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Jacob's Coffee House: what do users think?

Joseph Wilson: Just a heads up, this place didn’t have any seating available when we went, probably because of COVID. They do have a couple tables still set up outside though, but no seats. We ordered a lox bagel sandwich, an egg and cheese and beef sandwich, and a coffee. Everything was really good, but the lox bagel sandwich was exceptional! I highly recommend it if you like raw smoked salmon.

Charlotte Meindersma (Charlotte's Law): Best bagels in town! Really good European style coffee (American size!), lovely people, really nice outside seating and they provide cookies for dogs!

Henrietta: Came here randomly because I needed some coffee. I love when I run into a place that delivers quality food and service without having to do any advanced research! I got the cold brew coffee with oat milk and sugar free vanilla/ caramel. I also got a hummus veggie wrap and added Turkey and red pepper sauce. Sooo good! Please consider adding a Turkey wrap to the menu! I’ll be back 😎

E Petey: A DC gem. We love Jacob's Coffee house: great selection of breakfast and lunch, great service, the perfect neighborhood coffee shop. AMAZING breakfast sandwiches & we love their smoothies: blueberry banana is the house fave. They have a very seamless and safe protocol for contactless pick up. Definitely stop in if you're new to the neighborhood, you'll feel right at home!

Amelia Anthony: Absolutely love this place! Jazz (the owner) became more than just someone I bought my coffee from, she would always stop to talk when I came in. She’s so thoughtful and sweet and the food and coffee is amazing! My favorite thing from there is the chicken salad on a croissant. Support small business, shop here!

Rachel Cipkins: Pretty good breakfast food! They are very COVID safe. There is no indoor seating even though the pictures on maps shows so

Jime Colado: I loved visiting! The owner was absolutely kind to us, we chatted a bit and had the most amazing breakfast. The food and coffee are delicious and feels like home, so cozy. I loved the concept, and I’m looking forward to come back soon!

Dana Grosser-Clarkson: Awesome vanilla latte! I've had about a dozen and they are always amazing. I've tried a few of the panini sandwiches and my favorite are the two with pesto (grilled chicken or mozzarella and tomato). If getting order to go get the ciabatta bread so it doesn't get soggy. Breakfast sandwiches are good too! And they also sell good Korean masks!

Shant Sarkissian: This shop has respectable coffee. Sadly, the breakfast breads are sincerely awful. The bagels are flattened, right out of the refrigerator and hardened. And the croissant was far from “fluffy” and crusty, but instead bloated and again - hardened on the inside. Overpriced and underwhelming.

AL Brandes: Average coffee, but was the best iced caramel macchiato my daughter ever had (so she claimed). Sandwiches were great and the bubble tea drinks were good quality

Soho Tea & Coffee: what do users think?

Weekend Warrior: It was a good place to get work done. The outside area was quite noisy being near traffic, but the inside was fine. Only issue was that the servers forgot to bring my sandwich's to the table, or even call out that they were ready. If I didn't see them, we never would got them.

Hannah Sadollah: Mobile ordered to avoid the line and ended up waiting 20 minutes more than everyone else that arrived around the same time we did. Coffee come with the food so we just had to sit and wait for 30 minutes. The sandwich was $10 and it was average in taste. Coffee was good. If you come here only order a drink and do not mobile order.

George Ivanov: Tuna salad had mold growing on the tomatoes, all orders were delayed, and the wrong items were sent out multiple times. A line of disgruntled customers were talking to staff about their orders the entire time I was here. The staff at this coffee shop should be retrained and management replaced. You're better off going to any nearby Starbucks.

Lisa Smith: My favorite cafe in DC! I come here very often. The place has changed tremendously after the new owners took over. I love their pastries and teas. My favorite is the Green Pomegranate tea. They have happy hour as well. Wine and beer on a great price.
Response: Lisa, Thank you for sharing your feedback!

Debra Olson: Delicious coffee and tea, plus delicious pastries. Friendly staff and quite reasonable prices. Nice patio for eating outside or comfy chairs and tables inside. I suggest it for a relaxing weekend afternoon spot.
Response: Thank you Debra for your feedback. We will look forward to serve you again!!

Victoria Jones: Sooooo delicious!! Definitely top 5 best breakfast I've ever had!! It was my 1st time here. I had a Croissant with ham spinach egg & cheddar cheese!! Blueberry muffin & oj!! The service was great! The cashier guy was so cool & informative about the menu! He was short lol idk a name

Just a name: There are hundreds of coffee and tea recipes but there's only a few that are any good. This place has the latter. You can always judge a place by how they brew an Americano. Of they can mess up something so easy, they are not worthy of any money. This place nails it. Food is not bad.

Kiara Ivanova: Hands down, the best local coffee shop I've been in DC. Fresh and delicious pastries with a great variety of REAL loose tea and delicious food. My favorite spot from now on!
Response: Thank you for your feedback. We will look forward to serve you again!!

Michael Kellar: Comfortable cafe, nice service, awesome location. Come to DuPont, get a little off the normal path, and definitely worth a visit while you do something work or just wait for a meeting.
Response: Thank you for your feedback. We will look forward to serve you again!!

Jamie Gaitor: Liana was a fantastic server! We came in a little after her shift ended but she was happy to take care of us and converse with our group. The coffee was great, will be back whenever we visit DC again!

Tryst: what do users think?

India Lindsay: Nice ambiance, quite chatty and a little dark. Plenty of seating and I had no trouble finding an outlet. Tried the seasonal Sakura latte and it was average, didn’t taste anything more than a vanilla latte. The barista was unhelpful and looked annoyed when I was asking questions about the taste of specialty drinks.
Response: Hi, India! Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you had a negative service experience, and I can assure you that this is not the standard we strive to as a company. I will make note of this incident and forward your review on to our management team.

Ian Dutton: Really wanted to like this place more. Welcoming environment 🌈 and comfortable place to meet friends or pull out a laptop. But the service was indifferent at best. I asked for coffee to-stay but was served plastic that just ends up in the trash. Wanted a cannoli but was told I could only order 2 at a time, for $7! What?!? I can’t eat 2 and didn’t want to pay for 2! When I questioned the staff mumbled something about it being the same policy for cookies too. So if you don’t have enough money to buy more than you want, you can’t be their customer? Finally the outside street-seats could use some fixing up - just look at your neighbors with greenery and welcoming structures, not just blacktop and concrete dividers!
Response: Hi Ian, thank you for taking the time to write a review. If you ordered at the front counter, there may have been a miscommunication about the to-go status of your order. I apologize for any confusion, as we definitely like to stick to our reusable mugs whenever possible.

JONATHAN POTTER: Good ambience. Friendly although a little distracted (maybe post Thanksgiving effect). Coffee decent without being amazing. V good muffins and spinach twist. We didn’t try the bigger breakfast dishes. Plenty of space and v laid back.
Response: Thanks, Jonathan:)

L.A. Rusterucci: Walked in and was confused how seating and or service was being offered. I was told to find a seat and a server would be over to assist me. However, I had to flag a server down to place an order. Server was friendly and attentive once I got his attention. I love this area and the concept of this place. Will be back again.
Response: Thanks, L.A., apologies for any confusion regarding the seating:) We are still working on rebuilding the team and service can sometimes take longer than we'd like. I appreciate the feedback and will definitely share with the team. See you soon!

Katie Damon Scheuer: Tryst had exceptional service. When you sit down a friendly server comes over right away with water and a menu, and cleans off your table. Their food is delicious (breakfast burrito is so good) and their coffee solid. It’s bustling during weekdays but magically my favorite couch always seems to be open.

James Garza: Great spot for brunch or a coffee - very diligent about checking vaccination cards and although it can be full, they are great about finding a place to sit if there's a way they can accommodate you/your party.
Response: Thanks, James!

Jeremy Champagne: Great little neighborhood coffee and breakfast joint. Authentic teas (such as Dragon Wells) are available, and smoothies too (my favorite with kale, spinach and apple cider, Green Machine) !
Response: Thanks, Jeremy!

Tamer Mahmoud: Awesome place! Great coffee and munchies! We tried to go recently to do our work and just get out of the apt. A slight snafu, some area is quite dark. Dunno if this is by design. A lot of area are without an outlet. Probably by design. Still design or not, you lose a star (or two) when you slight customers' convenience for turnovers.
Response: Hi Tamer, thanks for taking the time to review Tryst! I appreciate the feedback on the outlets, our table/couch layout has changed over the past two years and it makes sense that the outlet situation may have suffered:( We will take a look at the accessibility and make some changes where we can. Thanks again for your time and for supporting Tryst, we appreciate it

Linden Yee: I love the atmosphere and the staff is always super friendly. The seasonal lattes are usually amazing and the sandwich and soup options are great. I like the Santa Cruz bagel and the nachos. The pastry isn't my favorite, the croissants are a little soggy and the cake is a bit bland for me, but the cookies have been good before. They don't have good WiFi so I wouldn't recommend this place to work, but a great spot to relax and talk.
Response: Thank you for the kind notes! Aric Sandoval Director of Operations aric@trysttradingcompany.com

Sadia Khan: I love exploring cafes when I visit new places, my first time in DC last year, I came across this very cute and charming cafe on the 18th street. We came for a light breakfast. Ordered turmeric milk, brownie , butter croissant and I don’t exactly remember the name but it was something coconut pie kind of thing but it was super delicious. I even loved the turmeric milk. We sat outside. Our server was a very pleasant guy. Would definitely recommend this place.
Response: Thanks, Sadia! I hope we see you again the next time you're in town:)

Andrea Betances: I ordered the orange raspadura latte and I loved it! Refreshing and delicious with hints of orange zest and cinnamon.

Ashley Gallagher: Ugh i love this place so much. Mari and Alyssa are lovely and regal presences, queens without equal. The coffee and atmosphere is great, but it's these two that take what's already a good coffee shop with good coffee to something truly special. 10/10 would (and frequently do) recommend

Janette Ponticello: Manzana latte was SO GOOD, smooth and just slightly sweet. Empanada also delicious! Will be back

Felipe Cavallini: This place knows what they are doing! Finally found excellent quality coffee in DC! Cappuccinos and expressos done the right way, perfect extraction and ratios (no 3 gallons of milk with your shot)

Yara Gayar: I ordered a matcha latte which tasted fine. However I was appalled with the customer service. The barista practically threw my coffee down the counter when I was standing right in front of him (so he slid it away from me, not towards me), it spilled out of the cup, and he didn’t even apologize (which I was waiting for assuming it was an accident). I asked the woman sitting down and for a napkin and cleaned my drink as well as their counter. My friend ordered a latter an hour earlier and he apparently did the same to her. Treating your customers with respect is everything. He definitely needs to learn to be attentive to how he interacts with customers.

Jacob Murphy: New favorite coffee shop in DC. Barista was kind and responsive to our questions and my cortado tasted great!

Felix Torres: Great coffee, not many places where can get a Geisha pour-over! Very friendly and helpful service too

M Ramachandran: Great, strong coffee, and nice barrista! Try the orange flavored one.

Cody Cox: I went in not expecting much but was incredibly impressed. Coffee is excellent, staff is friendly, and the baristas really know their stuff. The best cup of coffee I’ve had in DC thus far.

Heidi Morales: Located inside La Cosecha, the coffee is good and perfect for a weekend grab and go while you shop the market. If you prefer to sit and drink, there is plenty of outdoor seating and some indoor space as well.
