Ginkgo Gardens: what do users think?

a: I finally had the chance to stop by Ginkgo Gardens, and it completely exceeded my expectations. There is a WIDE variety of plants, planters, tools, and more! During checkout, I told the man I was just beginning my gardening journey and he pulled out this book to help me with the plants I bought today! Thank you so much for the amazing experience and exceptional customer service. This isn’t the closest plant nursery to me, but it is 100% worth the trip. I will definitely be back soon!

Scott Nguyen: Some of the plants sold here did not have any roots, so what chance do they have in surviving? The other plant we bought was fine though, still this nursery need to either check their greenhouse or suppliers for rooted plants.

Kristen Diaz: Just moved here from Miami & have been searching for a new fav plant shop. Ive explored so many & this one is definitely it! Great selection of plants at reasonable prices. They have an outdoor & indoor section plus an upstairs portion. I’ve gotten so many plants from here already. The staff is also friendly & helpful. Recommend.

Alison A: I was very excited to come hear about hearing good things. I was looking for something particular that a friend had found here. I asked a long haired male employee for help, and he just told me to look around for it…. The place is huge with lots of variety of plants, so I wasted time because I couldn’t find it… with that being said, very poor customer service. Wasted my time here.

Sheree P: I was recently in an unfortunately common predicament. My husband was on a business trip and my daughter was in quarantine from Pre school. So I was limited in what I could do but was also responsible for entertaining a busy toddler. During our time together, my daughter and I prepared our garden to plant vegetables. I was able to call Ginko, talk about specifics of our plan and pay over the phone. Someone even gladly brought the merchandise to my car. The customer service representative went above and beyond in taking the time to speak with me and my daughter about our desires and even researched a topic for us. I feel valued as a customer and will always come back for my gardening needs.

Anna Sumner: My first impression of this place is that it's a garden where plants are available to be taken home. The outdoor space is absolutely brimming with happy plants of all sizes so much do that it spills out onto the sidewalk out front. The indoor space has two levels. The second level is accessible by stairs and has a very lovely balcony with more plants and outdoor furnishings. I didn't notice an ADA option to ascend. It would likely be a tough store to navigate anyhow with such narrow aisles all around. Parking is available on the street. Read the signs because some spots are affected by the school nearby. They had a great variety of planters from basic nursery plastic to ceramic and even brushed metal. As you can imagine the nice ones are pricey as are the larger plants. Furnishings and racks can also be purchased here. They even have terrarium components. Literally whatever you may need for basic indoor and outdoor gardening is under this roof. Go check it out!

Kris negella.bbs@hotmail.com: Although there is a great selection of plants/ horticulture, the old guy that is either the owner or an employee has a terrible attitude which he attempts to hide with snide remarks and a disingenuous smile! Outside of this abrassive individual the other staff members are wonderfully helpful, pleasant and professional. Please check out other plant buying options in the neighborhood....this man makes the buying experience at Ginkgo Gardens horrible! We've sent others to Ginkgo Gardens to see if my experience was an isolated incident. It appears this grumpy old guy doesn't like certain groups of individuals....Pitiful Ginkgo Gardens

Ieshia E. Butler: Had a great day shopping for plants at Ginkgo. There is such wide variety and the staff was very helpful

Ashley Stewart: Ginkgo Gardens is a cozy neighborhood plant store where I get almost all of my houseplants and planters. They also have a wide selection if outdoor plants. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the plants are beautiful. Sometimes I just visit the store for some pleasant browsing.

Rodney Newman: FANTASTIC enjoyed the staff and my Bee Balm plants are beautiful!! Thanks.

Frager's Garden Center: what do users think?

Kayla: I adore Frager's! They have an excellent supply of all kinds of hardware needs, plus an excellent gardening center with all kinds of great indoor and outdoor plants. All the employees are super knowledgeable, kind, and eager to be helpful. I love having this store in my neighborhood and am grateful it has been around for so long.

Uncle Poodle: Fragers is but a shell of what it once was. Poor management has driven away all the institutional memory. Recently a staff member was assault by a member of management team. She gave two weeks notice and was fired on the spot. The general manager must have something over the owners. Nobody could be that blind to how this business has declined since the takeover.

Simona Ciampi: A staple of the Capitol Hill neighborhood, people here wear t-shirts to show their love for Fragers. Kind, knowledgeable, and with great variety, it is a little more pricey then Home Depot but the service beats them all. Love this place!
Response: We appreciate your positive feedback and hope to see you back in soon!

Lee Mejia: I'm in love with this place.

Kromeklia Bryant: Good looking plants. Very healthy. Didn't get a chance to go inside. But I plan to go back.

Javier Reyes: Nice pots and plants

Sandra King: Love everything there! People are knowledgeable and friendly, patient and kind! I drive up from Virginia because they have such a nice variety!

Joseph Butler Jr: Always welcoming, helpful, with great knowledgeable advice! I love Fragers Hardware Store.

David Larter: Great Christmas trees every year. Friendly staff. We go back every year.

JoYo: Wow, I was totally saved by these guys.I was hunting for vermiculite but they pointed me to perlite and coco coir.Vermiculite, as it turns out, isn't so great to breath in.
Response: We are glad we could fulfill your needs and hope to see you back in soon!

Olde City Garden: what do users think?

Lindsey Franklin: I am not a very adept gardener or plant owner, so I really appreciated how helpful Jeremy was. It’s a great neighborhood gardening center. Picked up a cute pot for my monstera. Will be back.

Jarred Ricks: Great place to buy firewood. Nice sized pieces that you can pick on your own for a good price. Convenient for those who don’t need to purchase wood by the cord. A nice neighborhood gem.

Robert DeJaco: Best place to get a Christmas tree. Sam was great helping us make a choice and load it on our car.

Suzi Hamernik: Wonderful selection of regular as well as unusual plants. Constantly changing mix. Also, garden supplies are good. Go to the very back of the lot (southwest corner) for bargains on 'distressed' plants. TLC will usually revive them. Staff very helpful. Worth waiting if they are busy.
Response: Thank you! We are always trying to provide an interesting mix and are happy to look for unique requests if we do not the plant in stock. Hope to see you again soon!

Jess H: Went to try the Spicy Water food. Delicious! Added bonus- we got to shop for a few perennials after a nice lunch of chicken, fries, and perfect plantains.
Response: Thank you for the 5-star review! We greatly appreciate your support of local business during this time. Spicy Water has been such a hit, they'll be here every Sunday!

Stefano Negri: Super kind staff, Christmas trees looks great, nice fire pit to get warm while chosing the tree...they should put a hot chocolate / Glühwein stand, my kids and I would have been happy clients :-)
Response: Thank you for the excellent review, Stefano! We love the idea of a hot chocolate stand, maybe next year ;)

Gregory Moran: Smaller than a big box store, but they had the tomato seedlings we were looking for! Always happy to support local.

John Moore: A great locally owned plant (and fire wood) center. Sometimes a little low on stock but worth a visit for healthy plants!

Keith Marzullo: Old City is an unusual establishment. I walk by it frequently: this week, they were still selling pansies along with calibrachoa, zinnias, and marigolds. The people are friendly, the selection good, and I enjoy the non-chain vibe. The place does looks abandoned during the winter.

Anya B: Great experience! I called ahead to see if they had what I needed and Tom was helpful and informative. They had a great selection of plants as well.
Response: Thanks for the 5-star review, Anya! We are always happy to help! We look forward to seeing you in the future.

Lowe's Garden Center: what do users think?

Judy Lapine: Best nursery I've ever been to! Found the cutest plants at a decent price. Nice pots, too. The staff is very knowledgeable, patient and helpful. Love that they potted my plants for me and they did a beautiful job with it. Highly recommended!

Altagracia Mendez: The plants in the garden center here are horribly mistreated! I went there looking for a few indoor plants and left with none because all of them were dying or dead. Most of them had extremely dry soil and you can tell they hadn’t been looked after. People there are obviously not doing there job. If you’re looking for plants, I recommend going to Home Depot instead. I went there after and while they have a smaller selection, the plants looked much much healthier.

Jiaqi O'Reilly: Difficult to find help and the display items do not match the inventory. It seems like no one work here. We went in to buy fluorescent light bulbs (the long tube kind) andd asked multiple times for some help finding the correct item. Each time we were told they would send someone over to the correct department, but in the 30 minutes of waiting nobody ever showed. We decided to return another day, thinking they were short staffed. The second day it was also nearly impossible to find someone to help us and when we asked where the display items could be found, we were told that they hadn't changed the display light for 4 years so none of them were likely available.

Frank Guidry: Always up to date with seasonal related flowers, plants and trees. Currently they are loaded with quality live Christmas trees.

Ilsy Marilyn: Awesome store.

Urban Jungle: what do users think?

Ryan Ellis: I ordered a succulent garden to surprise my wife. The arrangement was awesome, but the plants were not doing well after a couple of days. I contacted Urban Jungle. They delivered a brand new garden and let me keep the old one. The new succulent garden is doing much better. Good customer service!

Justine Williams: Very disappointed! I was excited to find Urban Jungle online and to see that they could deliver a fabulous plant to my colleague for her birthday. I received an invoice and receipt confirming that it would be delivered by the end of the day on a Friday. Not only was it not delivered (missing her birthday!) but it is now the following Wednesday and I haven't been able to reach them on phone, email, or text. If they could have atleast contacted me to let me know there was an issue I would have been understanding, but the ghosting makes it feel very scam-y. I've contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge.

Caitlin Hone: I ordered a Plants that cost nearly $60 from this business in April and never received it (it’s now August). I was not refunded my money and I have never been contacted by the business though I have emailed and called and texted them. I understand that the spring was an incredibly difficult time for everyone but I was still charged money for a product that I never received.

Nicole Choi: I gave Urban Jungle a chance because of their prices, but I had a very poor experience with them. I ordered a plant to be delivered on Monday, and I received no confirmation, even through email, about my order being placed or an estimated delivery time. However, I know my order was processed because I was charged. During their business hours, i tried calling and texting, as they suggest doing in their voicemail, but I received no response. I have no way of knowing if my order was actually delivered or not, yet if I reach out to the recipient, it’ll ruin the surprise! I was using Urban Stems, but again, I have Urban Jungle a try because of their competitive prices. However, the customer service is so poor at Urban Jungle that I’ll be going back to Urban Stems.

Josh Higham: Terrible experience. Ordered a couple of plants for a coworker whose surgery keeps getting postponed because of covid-19. The website was slick and everything seemed good--they even offered free delivery! However, they won't answer my calls or emails, and the plants haven't been delivered.

Amal Omer: This is a shoddy service that should be reported. My order was delivered a day late. I received no confirmation of this until after *I* followed up TWICE. They also delivered the wrong plant and the message was printed with *multiple typos* (despite me noting this prior to the delivery). I have followed up multiple times to get answers but have received no response to my emails, there's no answer to calls, and the vm box is full. I have also reached out to my credit card to dispute the charge. I regret using the service and do not recommend giving them your money. Make sure to review the other low star ratings below as you will see they had a similar experience to me. Totally ruined the experience of wanting to send someone a thoughtful gift. This is zero star service. DO NOT USE THEM.

Danny Peters: I wish I would have researched this company before ordering. Went purely based on social media. Ordered a plant for Christmas, to be delivered on Monday the 23rd. It never arrived. And just like all the other 1 star reviews they don't answer the phone, don't respond to texts, they don't respond to emails, and don't respond to Instagram messages. The website has NO information about any minimum days for delivery. You just pick a date, and the confirmation just says it's good. Maybe if I get my plant I will adjust this review, but the lack of information on the website and the non-existent customer service makes this place difficult to give the benefit of the doubt. Just give me some sort of correspondence, please.

Metta C: Updating to say that they fixed their mistake and ended up delivering the flowers I ordered later that week. Apparently there was a technical problem with their website. I ordered an early Mother's Day gift for my mom to be delivered yesterday (Thursday) and it was not received. I've called twice now and emailed with no response from the establishment. Terrible customer service - if you are not able to fill orders, please do not have a shop online that states that you will. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM.

Janelle Joslin: Wish I could give this company NO stars...Do not order from Urban Jungle! I ordered an arrangement to be delivered to my daughter for her birthday and it never arrived. I've received no response from phone calls, or various texts and emails over the last week! Charges have been disputed...now off to find something else to send my girl...a week late, mind you :(

Timothy Meyer: Same experience as many others - I ordered a plant for delivery, it never arrived, and I never heard back from Urban Jungle in any of my attempts to contact them by phone or by email. They ghosted me and it really bummed me out. I'm happy for those who did receive their plants and liked them though, I really am.

American Plant: what do users think?

Cecilia Gaultney: This nursery has disappointed me. I was so excited initially, but then my plants started not thriving. That happens sometimes with a change of location/environment so I was patient and did everything possible to make them happy. I bought a gorgeous begonia from them that died in 4 weeks. They over-fertilized it (which made the bloom so impressive) but in days it started showing leaf burn. I couldn't save it as hard as I tried. A rose I got from them was also not looking great. It was not putting out new buds or stems, and it was yellowing. It ended up to be spider mites. The spider mites then spread to my nearby plants. (I know I didn't have spider mites before the rose because I have a pretty controlled environment - a balcony - and no other plants changed.) The spider mites have taken over my elephant ear and tomatoes and have been very hard to knock back. I have one plant left from them. It's a maidenhair fern. It's not put out any new stalks. It hasn't died yet but it certainly isn't a very healthy plant.I have 20+ other plants that are all doing just fine so my conclusion is that I got unhealthy plants from this nursery.

Maggie Quinn: I used to hear people talk about how American Plant is a little pricey but good quality and was scared off. Early in the pandemic when stores weren't open, I ordered some perennials from an online store out if state and was unpleasantly surprised when they arrived and were TINY. Now, I view American Plant as a great value for good sized, healthy plants. I love their large selection and helpful descriptions. I can always find quite a few good native plants, which are always labeled well to help me find them. They have very good social distancing measures that make me feel safe shopping there. Makes me happy to support a great local business.

Wanda B: Shop here whenever in area & in need of flowers & gardening supplies. Orderly stocked inventory & courteous employees makes it a lovely shopping experience every time! Only criticism is they are a little pricey!

BRT: Lovely inventory and perfectly located in the heart of Bethesda. You'll over pay but worth the comfort. Staff is always ready to lend a hand.

Tracy Needham: I think they have just about everything you need in terms of plants, herbs, etc. Staff are friendly for the most part. A lot of times you have to track someone down if you have questions. Parking is awful. I would never go on a weekend due to parking.

Shannon Jennings: I love the selection of decorative pots and other home items here in the inside store, who ever purchases for this place has great taste and does a good job curating for different styles. The outside section here is a little overwhelming if you don't know what you're looking for, but staff will help you if you need guidance. I have had some hit or miss customer service experiences here, but I think the majority of the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and do their best to jump in if you want help. It's a mixed bag but mostly positive. Just as an example, I was here recently buying a bunch of pots and miscellaneous stuff, and the person who rang me up completed the transaction and then wordlessly meandered away. There was too much stuff for me to carry, and it was not bagged up because of the odd sizes of the items, so I said to a different cashier, "I"ll be right back, I will just have to make two trips to take this stuff." Another girl jumped in and cheerfully offered to help bring things out to my car. So... weird customer service from the person who rung me up(?), but excellent customer service from the girl who carried stuff to my car :) I am deducting one star because I recently bought an outdoor hanging plant here and it literally shriveled to dust and died the next day. I specifically chose this hanging plant based on the recommendation of a friendly staff member who said it would do well in the shady area of my porch. I am not a plant expert, but I do have a lot of indoor and outdoor plants and am not a complete noob -- I have no idea how it's even possible that this thing died so quickly :( Otherwise, I have only good things to say about this place and I always look forward to going here. All of the indoor plants I have bought here have done well without pests or problems. Great selection, and usually pretty good service.

Kristin Dunbar: Wide variety of plants available including many species & cultivars not typically found in other garden centers.

Ericka Ward-Audena: This place has everything you need to start gardening or to take your gardening to the next level. I love to get ideas from simply taking everything in. 😌

John Weir: As always, that place is tight and packed, however the selection and quality is second to none

Karen Smith: Good quality plants, with helpful informed people.

Little Leaf: what do users think?

Austin Graff: On a hunt for the perfect plant for our living room, my wife, daughter and I visited four plant shops within two hours- Rewild, Little Leaf, She Loves Me and Ginko's Gardens. All were great options, but here's what stood out about Little Leaf: 1) Space: It's the most beautiful space with plants everywhere, bringing the tile floor to life. It's a small shop, but one you can easily photograph. 2) Price: For being a boutique shop, the prices weren't bad at all. For a taller plant for our living room, we expected to pay $200+, but found an option at Little Leaf for $69. Little Leaf also sells greeting cards and other small gifts. Parking can be harder to find, but worth it if you snag a spot. There are tons of shops and restaurants nearby. The one downside of Little Leaf was that the staff were the least helpful out of the locations we visited. They weren't rude at all, just didn't jump in to help as eagerly as the others. At the end of the day, we're all human so I get not having the energy to always be our best, especially around the holidays.
Response: Hi Austin, Thank you so much for visiting us! We strive to offer the most hospitable customer service to everyone, and are disappointed to hear you didn't receive that. We'll take your note to heart and be sure to continue working on this. We hope you love your new plant, and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Best, Mollie

Ben Segall: Love this place. Got a rlly nice fern in a gorgeous handmade ceramic pot. The plant selection is awesome and they are rlly nice and helpful. Be aware: most of the ceramics and plants are sold separately. The ceramics are mostly handmade and therefore priced accordingly, so if you don’t want to spend extra on a planter pot I suggest you bring your own and have them repot it for you. Overall this place is a 10/10 recommend. Will definitely go back soon.
Response: So happy to hear you had a great experience, Ben! I remember potting that fern for you and being excited about the plant + pot combo you picked out. Hope to see you again in the shop soon! Best, Mollie

Melissa Pazornik: Eleanor was absolutely wonderful to work with! Her eye for arrangements and knowledge about each plant was phenomenal. The entire team made my experience so enjoyable and I am OBSESSED with the final product.
Response: Thanks so much Melissa! We are also thrilled with how the arrangements turned out- enjoy your new plant babies! -The Little Leaf Team

Ceci Moffit: The store was very nice despite the strong artificial flower smell. The store was also very small and not covid safe at all. The male employee was very rude and did not answer my questions. He also look as if he had more important things to do. I have never had such a bad experience at a flower store before.
Response: Hi Ceci, We're so sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. We pride ourselves in our customer service and COVID safety, running at a limited capacity of 8 customers in the shop. We hope you give us another chance down the road, and we will be sure to share your feedback with our team. Best, Mollie

R. Sims: I have purchased several plants from Little Leaf over the years and recently decided to get a larger plant for my living area. I ordered a Birds of Paradise to be delivered, but did not hear from anyone on the delivery date (Saturday). I got a message on Sunday saying the plant was delivered. I reached out to the supposed delivery driver who I guess contacted Little Leaf and received a message that the confirmation was sent early, erroneously. Ok, no problem. The plant was delivered today and I must say I am disappointed in the quality - many of the leaves are split and the plant does not seem to have been well taken care of. I am surprised by this and unfortunately will be purchasing plants elsewhere.
Response: Hi there, we're so sorry to hear about the state of your plant upon arrival. If you could send us an email to hello@littleleafshop.com, we'd love to send you a replacement. Thank you, Mollie

Holden Rhodes: Hands down the best indoor plant boutique in DC. There’s no other place like it. The selection is always excellent and the profits are high quality and extremely healthy, especially compared to other plant stores in the area. I’ve bought nearly all of my plants from here and there’s a noticeable difference in the longevity of the products purchased here versus chain stores. Staff is consistently helpful and welcoming and the aesthetic never fails!

Ms.: Nice gem in D.C. great selection of plants, all shapes and sizes. Great staff. Some items are great to give as gifts. Books, cards, pots etc. Loved the pot hangers
Response: Thanks so much for the kind review, Ms. Green! Come back and see us again soon!

Lindsey Casella: Always love stopping by this gem. The plants are reasonably priced and the decor/design of the store feels like Justin’s Blakeney Jungalow come to life !!!! Here are my newest additions from the store, that I snagged for total of ~$25. (Note: care cards are included, which is ideal for beginners!)
Response: Hi Lindsey! Thanks so much for the sweet words! We're so happy to hear you're a fan and hope to see you again soon in the shop. Many thanks, the LL team

Kristen Diaz: Shop looks really aesthetically pleasing but that’s about it. Not a great variety of plants & everything is wildly overpriced (plants & pots). Even with that, I expected at least good customer service but received nothing from both employees working there. Not even a greeting or goodbye as I left (even though I still thanked them as I walked out), let alone assistance with anything else. There was also only 1 other person in the store who left before I finished shopping around so the shop wasn’t busy.
Response: Hi Kristen, We're so sorry to hear about your experience. We completely understand how frustrated you must have been reflecting on your visit. We are always working to train our team to provide warm, attentive and welcoming service, and we will certainly use your experience to help us improve. We hope you give us another chance and have you back in sometime. Best, The Little Leaf Team

Ms. D: Extremely poor customer service and overpriced. Last Tuesday, (Dec 21) the brunette female was cold, unwelcoming and her attitude/personality was off-putting. Especially, her tone of voice when telling people there was an occupancy limit as soon as they barely stepped foot into the shop. With how tiny the shop is, it definitely needs a limit for the safety of staff/customers during Covid, but there’s a much more professional and friendly way to communicate to people, let alone customers. When entering the shop, it felt like you were just a nuisance to her. I will not be returning.
Response: Hi there, We're so sorry to hear about your experience. We are constantly striving to offer warm and genuine customer service, and are disappointed to hear you didn't receive that during your visit. We hope you give us another chance and that we get to see you in the shop again. Best, Mollie

American Plant: what do users think?

neriah anne: Visited for the first time today! This is my first plant shop I've visited since moving here recently. I'm starting to collect houseplants again since I had to leave them behind. I loved the selection of plants available! They had lots of plants I've dreamed of seeing like the variegated string of hearts, calathea orbifolia, hoyas. I will definitely be coming back again to check out the baby plants! The cons are that the larger plants were pretty pricey and customer service is a bit lacking, but it was busy today. I wish some of the larger trailing plants like the pothos njoy and other hoyas came in smaller pots that were more affordable. Overall a great houseplant spot!

Stephanie Stubler: Like my favorite nurseries: a plant wonderland from the moment you walk in. I was on a mission for indoor plants so did not spend much time in the covered annual/perennial area, but it was very well stocked and taken care of from my quick outdoor tour. So many indoor plant varieties to choose from, a few I had never seen in this area. I will return for further investigation, for sure!

Linda Balon Stein: Bought Biotone here to amend the soil prior to installing new shrubs. Also picked up flower and veggie seeds. American Plant is amazing. It is a bit higher priced compared to other local nurseries or big box stores. The staff were very nice and helpful.

Ashley Robertson: Nursery hopping in DC, MD, and VA is a favorite past time of mine and so far American Plant wins my award for most beautiful. American Plant had a large selection of healthy looking indoor and outdoor plants. They have everything from succulents, to trees, to climbing vines, and roses. I picked up some pollinator seeds from the garden center, a trellis, and a Thanksgiving Cactus. The prices were fair and the staff were knowledgeable and available. I particularly loved their yard sculpture collection. Those were pricy but the design and quality were some of the best that I’ve seen. I had to keep slapping my own hands to not walk away with all their hanging plants. Gorgeous!

Paul Hudson: This store is amazing, it has a wonderful assortment of plants and very knowledgeable staff. Overall, I had a excellent experience walking around and finding the plants I was looking for!!

Julie Chang: Had a great experience! Amazingly helpful staff and beautiful selection. Ended up buying a bird of paradise and a beautiful pot. Numerous staff helped me find the best fit for my needs and even adjusted my car to help things fit.

Sara Corrigan: Come every year for our Christmas tree. They have a really good selection, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Hits all the marks for us! We come for gardening season too are always pleased :)

Jeffery Holley: I fancy myself a seasoned gardener with Master Gardener certification from a California and Idaho. I'm crazy for flowers, nurseries, yard tools and botanical gardens. In a business with wild swings in seasonality and traffic, the customer care experience at AP is a superior. Folks are helpful and attentive. Plant inventory is excellent and the shop is filled with practical items and gift delights. One day I walked in with three 20-year-old Felco pruners in dire need of care. Garden Supply Manager, Andy Harms, fixed them up with alacrity. Polished up with new blades and springs...they are like new. Thank you American Plant, your products and people are a head-and-shoulders above any garden center. Period.

Liz T: Beautiful plants with tons of selection. Pretty reasonably priced for the location. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend engaging with them because they are also knowledgeable. We ha d a small bush not make it and they gave us no trouble at all to replace it.

David Feuer: Very helpful staff, large selection in general. I do wish they sold wild-type strawberries.

Merrifield Garden Center: what do users think?

Cathy Besley DeLoach: There is something quite magical about shopping at Merrifield Garden Center. As a native Virginian, it's held a special allure my whole life. I bought my baby girl's very first Christmas Decoration in the Christmas shop in what must have been 1990 or 1991 when it was much smaller and more modest. Over the years, we have made MGC our first stop when in need of plants for the inside or outside of our home and always visit the Christmas shop. In addition to shopping for house plants and outdoor projects at Merrifield, I also support their business with my business. Our real estate team's landscaper, Mr. Mow, buys plants and mulch for all of our listings at Merrifield, probably about 35-45 times a year. One of our big personal home exterior projects was creating a lounge area under a big tree we have in our side yard. We had so much fun shopping for rocks--big rocks--as well as buying the stone we needed to build our large coffee table and firepit there (second picture). Merrifield had all the stone delivered to my house in about an hour after we made our selection. It was amazing!!! I planted a fern/shade garden amongst the rocks and, you guessed it, bought all from the garden center. On a recent trip to the garden center, I was sad when I found they had dwindling supplies in their green house--understandable with supply chain issues of late. I found a plant and planter I loved but noticed the leaves on the plant were a little spotted. Undeterred, I decided to move forward with the purchase of the $35.99 8" swiss cheese plant, knowing I was taking a slight risk if it should die. When I got to checkout, I asked if I could have a small discount on the plant considering its condition. The lovely cashier, finding my request reasonable, called a manager over--tall guy, maybe his name is Michael?--who really responded super quickly with a decidedly stern "no" when asked about a discount. It was such a moment! A 10% discount, $3.60, would have gone so far at that moment. The moment was extended when he made a few additional condescending comments suggesting I didn't know anything about plants. I was left feeling bad about myself and disappointed with the manager (the lovely cashier gave me a 10% discount anyway and should be applauded for saving the day). So really, Merrifield Garden Center is an exquisite garden center which I love so much. A little of the magic has been been extinguished for me but I'll still go. I just hope the managers don't take that relationship for granted because that would just be so sad.
Response: Cathy Thank you for the kind 5-star review! We so appreciate your kind words and your loyal patronage. I am so very sorry to hear about the unfortunate encounter with one of our managers when you inquired about a discount. If you don't mind, please contact me at Kevin@mgcmail.com and provide me with your phone number, so that I can personally apologize to you. We very much appreciate your business, and despite that one disappointing encounter, I hope we get to see you back at the garden center again soon. Kevin

Noofy Allen: Tomato season is here, and I bought mine at Merrifield Garden Center. You can never go wrong there. Best local garden center in Northern Virginia! I purchased the Heirloom and Big Boy. You cannot go wrong with ANY purchase here. Caution, you'll find more than you need here.

Brian: We were shopping for a live cut Christmas tree and we could not find many trees in the area that were full and had a really nice shape. So we went to Merrifield Garden Center and found a very nice tree. That is the good news. The bad news is that it was about a $150 that is twice as much as The Home Depot across the street. A kind of felt like being gouged at Christmas. All of the prices of the items we saw seemed incredibly expensive. Capped off by a 11 foot Christmas tree that was $895!! Wow. Really? $895? If this review was helpful to you, please give it a thumbs up!
Response: Brian Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We're glad to hear you found a nice Christmas tree. As for our prices, we feel we are very competitive with other local, independent garden centers, especially when you compare similar quality. We buy from premium growers where you know you're getting a quality tree with a beautiful shape. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

beyondTabu: Pretty wide selection of plants. A little pricey in comparison to other garden supply stores, but staff are friendly, helpful & informative.
Response: beyondTabu Thank you for the kind review! We're glad to hear you enjoyed our vast selection of quality plants. As for our prices, we feel we are very competitive with other local, independent nurseries, especially when you compare similar quality. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

Andrea M. Watling: This is probably my favorite garden center in the area! They always have some cool plants but they've been raising their prices a lot recently. I think the price of indoor plants just really skyrocketed dueing COVID-19 but I can't get myself to buy a 4" neon for $25. Even if they're very pretty! I still got a a very nice and full snow queen for $6.99 which I was very happy with. I also got a rattlesnake calathea whoch didn’t last very long in my house. They also have a nice collection of pretty pots- lots to choose from! The staff was also very friendly but I did ask for help to get one of the hanging baskets because I couldn't reach it but the lady never came back and I saw her helping another customer. Oh well! Saved me some money because I ended up not getting it. Still worth going in and taking a look at the pretty plants!
Response: Andrea Thank you for the kind review! I'm glad to hear that we're your favorite garden center in the area and that you enjoy our wide selection of plants. As for our prices, we feel we are very competitive with other local, independent nurseries, especially when you compare similar quality. Every now and then, a plant or product might be inadvertently mispriced, so we appreciate you bringing this to our attention in case that was what happened. We did check with our greenhouse staff and that price does sound right. While most of those 4" plants we sell are around $7.99, with certain varieties a little more, the neon is a patented variety that is much more expensive. One of the reasons we carry such a wide selection of plants is that we can offer our customers many different options at different price points. And while we're glad to hear you felt our staff was very friendly, I'm sorry the person that was helping you did not assist you in getting the plant you wanted. We hope you'll give us another opportunity to serve you better. We appreciate the feedback and your business, and we hope to see you back at the garden center again soon. Kevin

Devon Janes: I've been going to this garden center for years and they are FANTASTIC! I'm not someone who wants a lot of help when I shop and they're respectful of that but also super attentive when you do ask for it. Their selection is wonderful and they're helpful when you ask when certain plants will be coming into season. I see a lot of reviews on them being more expensive than other places in the area and yes, they are. But their quality, selection, and service is also miles above others and it is worth it. When I buy young plants here they do cost a few dollars more typically than other places but in my experience they've been healthier and sturdier.
Response: Devon Thank you for the kind 5-star review! We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your shopping experience and that you found our staff to be helpful. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

Sue MacLane: Great selection. Large nursery. Staff was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Dyan in the front and Andy in the back really helped out. Our purchase was very large and we need some very specific plants and rock palettes. Much more professional service than at their Gallows Rd location.

Tyler Balsam: One of the best retail experiences I've had in a few years. Searching for some supplies for a community garden, and both Andy and the other people I talked to were incredibly helpful in showing me the ropes of how to get bulk landscaping materials, and genuinely seemed to care and take the extra mile even if it wasn't required. The indoor prices seemed a bit higher but the service was unbeatable and everyone there seemed motivated and customer-service oriented. You get what you pay for and these guys were high class! Thanks again y'all, and major props to Andy! :D Keep it up, y'all! ☺️😁👍
Response: Tyler Thank you for the kind 5-star review! We're so glad you enjoyed your shopping experience, and that you found Andy and our other staff members to be helpful. We are fortunate to have so many great people who genuinely enjoy helping our customers find just the right plants and gardening supplies for their garden. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

Huy: Good and friendly people with a heap of knowledge as to what plants would be best for me. I go for their interior plant section and there are endless choices with a good variety of both species and sizes of your favorite species. I like buying smaller plants and watching them grow over time. They've got everything for my repotting needs as well so I can say that I'm covered here. Lastly, there is a "plant doctor" here as well if anything were up go awry.
Response: Huy Thank you for the kind 5-star review! We're so glad to hear you enjoy shopping at our store and that you liked our selection of indoor plants. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back at the garden center again soon. Kevin

Carrie smith: Just an all around great place. We are here vacationing and I found this place on Google maps. Based on the reviews I decided to visit. I wasn't disappointed. A wonderful selection of plants, planters, wind chimes, just a wonderful selection of goodies. A bit pricey on some of the plants but considering they all looked in excellent condition, I would have paid it. Unfortunately I was too busy looking at everything to remember you get many photos.
Response: Carrie Thank you for the kind 5-star review! We're so glad you enjoyed your shopping experience while here on vacation. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back again the next time you are in town. Kevin

Johnson's Florist and Garden Centers: what do users think?

Jesse Cowan: Terrific customer service today! I was greeted right away by a friendly staffer who showed me just the plant I was looking for and helped me pick one from 3 healthy specimens. Then another friendly staffer potted it for me, and when she understood it was to be a gift, wrapped it with pretty tissue paper. So grateful, and looking forward to coming back soon.

Evan Morier: Johnson's has some great houseplants, some of which are very reasonably priced. There are nice pots as well. Great place to go during the holidays for ornaments (and afterwards for sales). Cut flowers are nice but pricey. I've always had great service here as well.

Dan S: Nice people working there, hence my not giving 1 star. We’ve had multiple issues of purchasing products from them that are infested with various pests. We bought a palm plant from them, to then find out it was infested with spider mites (to this day we haven’t been able to get rid of them, and have isolated our palm plant). We also bought compost from them on a separate occasion, to then find out (the hard way) that it was infested with fungus gnats. Our veggies withered because these gnats ate all the roots. I don’t recommend purchasing any plant products from this store, as they seem to have pest problems.

Bailey Price: Beautiful garden center that had everything I could have needed! Thanks so much to Eileen for working with me for about a half hour to pick all of the right plants and materials for what I was looking for! They turned out so nicely!

Ofelia Gaitan: hands down the best flowers in the area. I have been going to Johnson's for over two years and they always have top quality flowers. Their arrangements are always beautiful. I have experienced a few issues upon delivery of arrangements but they are quick to make correct their errors and thus why they deserve 5 stars. With all florist I think going to the the stores is the best route to go when placing an order as issues may arise upon delivery.

Madeline Klein: WOW! A MUST GO TO PLACE! There are two locations FYI; Johnsons Kensington is hands down amazing! I will definitely make a travel to this location! I am not the best at all with house plants; this young lady (apologize I completely forgot her name) she was about 25-maybe 30 short brown hair. Her knowledge was beyond anything I have ever experienced! This specific young lady was so warm and welcoming since I walked in (before I have noticed other employees on phones or other things "more important") this woman was so attentive from the beginning! re-potted a plant I thought would make it I'm still trying to keep the plant going but I learned so much and it may be in a much much smaller pot but it is BEAUTIFUL decorated! I purchased another house plant as well the customer service was so great. The young woman gave me many suggestions to what I would like and showed me photos of her own personal one and I was taken back as to how polite, patient, kind and not pushy to sell a plant that was not the best fit for me. I HAD THE BEST EXPERIENCE! The Owner Mr. Tom Johnson was there and for me personally it shows the dedication he has for his staff and the great business. Kensington Johnsons is THE PLACE TO GO!

Andrea: This place is a plant haven. I would recommend going here over any other shop. The products are high quality, staff is friendly and there is a large selection. I got two small house plants and the staff had such good recommendations for my situation.

J. D. Rosenzweig: Great local flower and plant store. Much better going here than a big box store. Excellent plants inside for gifts. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.

M B: Good selection of plants and supplies. However, the cashiers, particularly the younger cashiers, aren’t very friendly. I felt as though I were imposing on their precious time by having the audacity of being a customer. No smile or friendly “Hello” or “How may I help you” for a greeting. Instead, I received an irritated “Can I help you?” from not one but both cashiers. It wasn’t packed, so I really didn’t understand the seemingly irritated or exasperated attitude. If said cashiers don’t want to help anyone, there’s a solution—QUIT! And don’t hold a position where one has to interface with the public! Needless to say, I won’t be back. I’ll do my shopping via Amazon. At least that way, I’ll be able to save time, money, and not have to deal with abysmal customer service!

Chanpen Tee: There are a lot of plants foe indoors and outdoors. Staff is friendly.

Merrifield Garden Center: what do users think?

SamLia Camacho: We had an issue early on getting them to come out and communicate. But David and Danny at Gallows made it up and sent out the best crew to take care of our entire yard. We are very happy with the workmanship and professionalism of the specific crew that did our yard. Kudos to Dan as well at Gainesville for stepping up. THANK YOU AGAIN!
Response: SamLia Thank you for the kind 5-star review! While I'm very sorry to hear that we initially didn't communicate as well as we should have, I'm glad to hear that Danny and David took care of everything, and that your landscape needs were taken care of. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

Sharon: Stopped by this place because I saw the word, "firewood." Reasonable prices. purchased birch logs and mixed oak. The fireplace is kicking! I am very pleased with my purchase & the great service I received! I will return!
Response: Sharon Sorry for the slow response, but thank you for the kind 5-star review! We're glad your firing was roaring and kept you warm and toasty. We appreciate you shopping with us and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

Raymond Mui: This review is based solely on the purchase of one christmas tree. The good: Excellent selection of trees and service. Trees were all gorgeous and fully unwrapped so you can get a full look at it. I came here on December 5th after trying multiple tree farms and Home Depot, all with questionable looking trees. The worst trees here at Merrifield looked much better than the best trees at the tree farms or Home Depot. Staff was very attentive and helpful. It was a hands off process, you pick the tree, they do everything. Well worth the slightly higher costs of trees here. The bad: I selected a gorgeous 8’ Douglas Fir, probably the most picture perfect tree I had ever purchased. After picking it, the attendant took the tree and told me he would trim the bottom branches and make a fresh cut while I went inside to pay. After I got the tree home, I immediately got the tree in water within 60 minutes. The tree drank some water within the first day and then stopped drinking water entirely. The tree had rapidly dried, and the branches all started to droop well before Christmas. I’ve been desperately trying to keep the tree hydrated and presentable just enough to make it to Christmas. Added preservatives, drilled desperation holes, lightened up ornament weight, pulled out the ribbon, etc. All of the trees I’ve had in years past drank plenty of water, had to fill every 3 days or so, and made it to Christmas and well past New Years perfectly fine. This is the first tree I’ve had that has given up on life almost immediately and will barely make it to Christmas. Not sure if maybe the cut wasn’t made or not well enough. Or maybe the tree wasn’t fresh? (I don’t know that much about trees). Also notable that this tree seems to be absent of sap. Again, would be worth the cost and would be a 5 star rating if the tree hadn’t died prematurely. Maybe I just got a lemon tree.
Response: Raymond Thank you for the review! We appreciate the kind words about our quality, selection and service, but we're very sorry to hear that your tree stopped drinking water. This is rare, but it can happen from time to time. Please contact me at Kevin@mgcmail.com and provide me your contact information. Thank you! Kevin

Kathy Bovino: Merrifield Garden Center is a place where you can find anything "plant". The grounds are large and filled with beautiful flowers, plants, herbs, trees, bushes and shrubs. Supplies from basic clay pots to watering cans to attractive pottery pots to tools ... anything you can think of to help your garden grow, you'll find it here. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable; they go out of their way to help. There is ample parking on the grounds. The only problem? It will be hard for you to limit what you want to take home!
Response: Kathy Kathy Thank you so much for the kind 5-star review! We're so glad to hear you always enjoy your shopping experiences. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

Brian Copes: It was my first time visiting this place, but I have worked with center in the past for my condo building. Both have been great experiences!Plenty of staff to help customers with random gardening questions and a lot of cashiers available to get you in and out quickly. Seems like a wide variety of flowers, shrubs, trees, soil pots, and gardening tools. It was cold spring day when I stopped by so most of the flowers were in the green houses to protect them from frost. I was able to find the quality potting soil which is what I was looking for in my trip today. I’ll be back for sure to get some flowers when it’s a bit warmer outside. Parking- plenty of spots to park. Definitely recommend checking them out for your gardening needs!
Response: Brian Thank you for the kind 5-star review! We're so glad you came to see us for the first time and that you enjoyed your shopping experience. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

David Ikeda: My local garden center, it’s my favorite because they people who work there are so nice! They also love doggos!
Response: David Thank you for the kind 5-star review! We're so glad to hear we're your favorite garden center and that you enjoy our staff. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

Chloe Zhu: The people are always super friendly and the plants are super healthy. I love this location, I’ve never been let down with the plants or the experience in general!
Response: Chloe Thank you for the kind 5-star review! We're glad to hear you enjoyed your shopping experience and that you found our staff to be helpful. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

Maria Losanto: Sooo expensive... but the selection and quality can't be beat. Also, the people that work there are very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. If money isn't an object, this is the place to go. I typically go there to ask questions and get information, which is a way better option than researching on the internet. I recently went there to buy seeds. They have a better variety of seeds than home depot down the street and all their seeds are certified organic. I also wanted to buy blueberry bushes, but, while they do have great variety, their bushes are very expensive - think $40-$50 avg for 1 gal. Ended up going to Lowes in Chantilly, which had Legacy blueberries at $27 for 3.25 gal (and could have bought 1 gal for $13). In terms of blueberries, I'd probably do Lowes -> online -> marryfield (based on selection/ price)
Response: Maria Thank you for taking the time to write a review! We're glad to hear you enjoyed the quality of our plants and that found our staff to be helpful. As for our prices, we feel we are very competitive with other local, independent nurseries, especially when you compare similar quality and selection. We appreciate you shopping with us and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

Tiglath: Over the years I've spent thousands at this place. I can say they are competent and provide a good service. They have never been inexpensive, but in the last years their prices became ridiculous, This year the gouging has skyrocketed and they are simply a RIP OFF. They charge $12.99 for a small bag of their home brand topsoil. An outrageous sum since you can get similar for less than $3 at the Home Depot, nearby. They have determined that there are enough affluent people around who don't really care if Merrifield Garden Center picks their pockets. I am not one of them.
Response: Tiglath Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Our private label topsoil is $4.49 per bag, not $12.99. We do carry a 16-qt. private label potting media called Merrifield Potting Mix, which sells for $12.99. Unlike topsoil, this potting mix is a blend of various organic ingredients, including premium, long-fiber sphagnum peat, composted pine bark, perlite, vermiculite, starter fertilizer, lime and a wetting agent. This product is great for potted plants, whether they are indoors or outdoors. If you need more information about these or any other products, please let us know. Kevin

Christina Raynor: This place is huge and has an amazing variety of gardening materials, flowers, plants, and the like. I had been there the first time and really enjoyed looking at all the different choices since gardening is new to me. I'm giving it 3 stars because I went there a second time, and both employees that helped me were condescending when I told them I was starting to garden for the first time though the guy at least was a bit nicer about it. The second employee who helped me extremely condescending and talked to me like I was a child. The first thing she said to me unfortunately was an insult to what I was wearing, which was ridiculous and unprofessional. I was a bit surprised because for one thing, that's not the type of behavior that I was expecting, but also because that hadn't been my experience the first time I went. Anyways, as beautiful and amazing as the place is, I won't be patronizing it any longer.
Response: Christina Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I apologize for the slow response, but I wanted to thank you for the kind words, but tell you I'm sorry if anyone here treated you condescendingly or rudely. If you don't mind, please contact me at Kevin@mgcmail.com so I can communicate directly with you about this. We appreciate your business and we hope to see you back again soon. Kevin

Bayles Garden Center & Nursery, Inc.: what do users think?

Natasha Kittle: Love Bayles - there is something here every season and the people are so friendly! Terrific selection of flowers, veggies, trees & shrubs, gardening supplies, indoor plants, and, in the summer, organic produce including the most delicious corn you will ever taste. Love that they can answer my questions and offer solutions after my not-so-green thumb strikes. In the winter they have fresh cut holiday trees, decorations and lights. Plus, some cool things they offer: organic mosquito spray (it's like a tea that is sprayed, doesn't smell bad & it's safe), soil testing, propane refills, and knife sharpening. Highly recommend!

Niloofar Shemtov: Excellent customer service , everyone cares and answer your questions. There is always a person to help you to your car.

Mario Madeddu: Mike and John are very helpful and so is their staff. Always get a good deal here

Andrew Wainer: Always a great selection with competitive pricing and excellent service.

Christine McMenamin: While the plants were pretty most were rootbowd and infested with bugs. The annuals were fine. However I purchased "resin " pots for $25 each, only to find beautiful ceramic pots twice the size. Lesson well learned! Unfortunately the return policy is that plants even with bugs can not be returned.

Scott Johns: Great selection, great service

Gary Book: Always pleasant, many organic solutions.

Uncle Pete: This is a family business and they've been there for generations. Very nice customer service. You pay a little more than home Depot but they are local

Alan Teitel: This is a great local garden center. During the summer they bring in local crops for wonderful farm to table cooking at home too.

jrocella: Very friendly staff and owners, good quality plants.

Bloomers Home & Garden Center: what do users think?

Mark Smith: Bloomers has been around for over 30 years and they have the experience that big box stores don't. You will pay a little more but there is a bigger selection of plants, they are healthier, and the staff is always nearby to help or answer any questions. They do have sales quite often and they put flyers in local papers so you can look for good deals. In addition to all types of garden plants and supplies, they also have water garden supplies and home and holiday gifts.

Nichole Oxendine: They are a great nursery! I have a gazillion plants from rare plants that cost 100's to cheap 2$ plants. No matter what tho they always have the hard to find soil amendments that you normally have to buy online. They carry Espoma Brand which us what I prefer cause it's organic. Their pages are also always healthy and fair priced I've bought 16 plant's in total from them, they are all anyone and healthy. I definitely recommend this place.

Sam Bergere: Nothing but a great experience at Bloomers! The staff is very knowledgeable about the plants and offer advice for what would be best for your property. The landscaping service they offer is also great!

David Houck: Bloomer's is the best. They have been helping me with my lawn and garden needs since 2000. Just bought a new house. Their advice and products have helped me transform my front and backyard.

Pugglesrule Dotcom: I always buy my vegetable plants and flower flats from Bloomers. Everything is well taken care of and great quality. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Allison Pierson: Nice selection of pansies in all kinds of colors, plugs of herbs including lots of different kinds of mints, basil, oregano, etc. Peas, lettuce, kale, strawberries, lots of amendments for soil and Bumper Crop soil bags, bird section with feeders and food, cute mini containers.

Debbie Roach: I love Bloomers! All of the plants there are beautiful and there are so many options to choose from. The staff is friendly and always there to help.

dize mal: I love this place. Have been coming for years. The plants are always healthy. They have unique decorative items, also.

Peg Urban: I have shopped there 3 times in the last month or so. Always have to limit my purchases ( oh it is so hard to do!). Best potting soil and garden soil along with the flowers and plants.

B S: Their plants are infested with mites which killed my bushes and all they did was try to sell me more. Entire job done by poor immigrant laborers , I felt so bad for them. Bloomers really needs to be reported and shut down. smh
Response: I'm sorry you must be thinking of someone else?? We do not have an immigrant work force only my son and one Nursery Crew member. Bloomers warrantee covers all woody plant purchases. If a plant should die a credit of amount is put toward a replacement. Bloomers provides plants in excellent thriving health at the time of purchase, it is the customers responsibility to make them thrive. Could the mites have come from your yard? Was what we were trying to "sell" you was an insecticide to cure the problem?

Johnson's Florist and Garden Centers: what do users think?

Pat S: This was my first trip here after my neighbor recommended it and it is really great! An outstanding selection of plants at very reasonable prices. I was looking for 2 nice Easter plants and I was able to get both for less than $30! It's my new go-to place for flowers and plants.

Sarah Brown: I was not prepared for the huge variety of happy plants awaiting me at Johnson's Olney location! I've visited their Kensington shop many times for plants and accessories (also lovely), but the Olney location offers so many more plants and planting items. I picked up several colorful annuals for spring plantings at the Olney location, but I may have to go back for a Mayapple (!) or two. I was very excited to see the houseplant selection at Olney. They keep a variety of sizes of the houseplants that I had been seeking (including a couple size.pots of Crotons of different varieties). I really wish I had known about this location sooner - I would have found the house plants I wanted here! Staff is also friendly and personable, and I always appreciate that. I'm looking forward to shopping here again in the future. I'll still visit the Kensington location occasionally as it's a bit closer to home, but I'll look forward to Olney visits, as well!

Blair Wright: Really good garden center, most of the garden centers in this area have closed and this is one of the better ones that had remained open

Matt Pflieger: Do NOT buy a Christmas tree here. Zero customer service and outrageous prices (over $170 for sub par trees). This place has really gone downhill. Prices have continued to go up, yet selection and customer service has dropped significantly. We have been regulars of Johnson's for YEARS. Not anymore

Lawrence Roffee: Helpful staff. Well stocked. Very pleasant experience

Sarah McCaines: Terrible place to shop. I used to come here often until recently where they just have new staffing constantly and none of the staff Is actually knowledgeable anymore. I was told to “read a book” and purchase it at a local library because they couldn’t help me. On multiple occasions I was not even greeted at the door of entry and some of the staff have been reluctant to even talk to us. I’m very disappointed, it used to be a lovely place. They do not even have a lot of product and when asked about it I was just given a shrug. In the decor region of the store, I have noticed items that have been around for awhile. I had been coming for years, but I am just shocked by the low quality of upkeep especially since some items are covered in cobwebs or dust or genuinely chipped or broken. Again, when I brought it to the staffs attention, they merely offered me a 10% discount. A lot of items did not have prices on them so when I went up to the counter to ask for a price, it took them nearly 15 minutes and at this point I had given up. I was told the item had been there for a while but if it had been there for awhile it should have had a price. I have had more problems than anything else the last few times that I have been and I will have to say I will no longer be shopping at johnsons. It is more of a hassle lately and a disappointment.

Roli Good: My visit to Johnson's Florist and Garden Center was very refreshing. I was looking for a particular plant as a sympathy gift and this was my first time there. Once I found the plant, Grace and Sylvia were super helpful. They potted the plant, wrapped it really nicely, placed it in a box, and put a bow on it without me having to ask. They knew it was a gift and made every effort to make it look pretty and presentable. They were very attentive and thoughtful. It's ALWAYS refreshing when one receives EXCELLENT customer service. Thank you ladies. Your help was greatly appreciated. Stay EXCELLENT 🙂 I now have a place to go when I'm looking to purchase a plant or some flowers.🙂

Erin O'Prey: Just had a wonderful experience with both the customer service and floral professionalism at Johnson's in Olney. They were "out of stock" on-line but managed to find a creative work around for a Christmas centrepiece that was a great treat for Holiday Dinner. Thanks for the special effort, it was appreciated, especially by my sister who is recovering from surgery...

Nancy Chiles Shaffer: I'm immunosuppressed and so I've been reliant on delivery services for most items during the current pandemic. A friend helped me get some herbs from one of the big name home improvement stores and they were duds. I potted them in April and most have died. I wanted to try again and came across Johnson's. I am so impressed! The delivery came faster than I expected and the quality is fantastic! I also appreciated the customer service I received. Thank you so much!

jan suit: This nursery has a wonderful gift shop! They have a lot of Christmas decor marked down for anyone who wants it! Last fall I was pleased to be able to purchase some beautiful chrysanthemum plants

Seasons Garden Center: what do users think?

Joan Arkuszewski: This company and their people are nothing short of amazing. I've had Dirk out several times to provide what turned out to be very reasonable estimates for a LOT of work. The crew each time has been remarkable - friendly, professional, hard-working, and they do OUTSTANDING work. I could not be more pleased!

Mary R: Very helpful staff and a beautiful selection of houseplants and gifts, and more outdoor plants we didn’t have time to look at:) I can’t wait to go back and check out the perennials.

Zen Traveler: Seasons Garden Center is one of the most unique garden centers. What makes it a standout is the knowledge base, and drive to help people with their gardening needs.
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words...your photos are absolutely stunning and we feel privileged to have them as part of our listing.

Marquita Keller: Nice terra cotta and great plants! Beautiful place to shop

LG Newtown PA: I have been shopping as Seasons Garden Center for four years and they are fantastic. Their plants are always in great shape, they have a good variety, and their staff is fantastic. Bill, Dirk, Kiera, Debra, and the rest of the crew are always extremely helpful, friendly and professional. This is a great place for your plant needs

brenda mondeau: We love this local garden center. They always have a seasonal decor & lovely year round greenhouse, filled with tropicals and unique succulents. When the planting season rolls around, BAM, the whole place is brimming with georgeus product. It's just a joy to visit. Glad they muscled thru the pandemic & will be here for summer 2020! 🌿

Sharon Slickis: Absolutely the most creative arrangements in the atrium along with luxury items that has that special touch to make your home extra special. Mary Ann is a true artist when it comes to floral arrangements. The warm friendly staff are very helpful when selecting the appropriate plantings to create a welcoming look for your home. My favorite place!

Manny Patole: Such a great and helpful staff. We did a container make and take class and it was very fun. Highly recommend Seasons Garden Center.

Alan Cohen: Good selection. Very helpful.

Bruce Lang: Dan is very skilled and helpful. From full new gardens to flowers for mothers day. The whole crew is on the top of their game.

Redmond's Garden Center: what do users think?

Joseph R. Pratico: Redmond's Garden Center is a hidden gem in all of New Jersey, especially around Christmas. This place has something for everyone. In the main greenhouse, there are games for kids, arts and crafts, pictures with Santa, and shopping. A separate greenhouse to take pictures with the Grinch. Another greenhouse with a petting zoo. Live band on the weeks. Beautiful trees and wreaths. We've already been twice this season. Thank you to everyone at Redmond's!
Response: Thank you Joseph we appreciate your feedback! We are family owned and operated and we try to make this a family tradition for our customers each year! We look forward to seeing you through the year! Merry Christmas from our family to yours !

Rabbi Zalman Sandhaus: A most wonderful place, they have beautiful and quality stuff, Everything you can want from a nursery, trees, flowers, plants, herbs. I stopped in while driving by and I was very impressed. To top it off the people there are friendly, nice and knowledgeable.
Response: Thank you it was very nice meeting you! Hope to see you again soon! We appreciate your comments and your business!

Jenn Black: Horrible customer service!!! We used Redmonds many times in the past for mulch delivery and to get flats and hanging baskets. This year when our soil was delivered, the driver backed into our shed, causing damage and moving it from the impact of a dump truck hitting it. When I called to speak to the owner, the owner’s sister gave my phone number to the driver to have him handle it. This is not how it works, particularly if insurance claims or reimbursement is necessary. Someone authorized to handle these things should have called me. It took the owner 3 weeks to call. As of today, they have only come out to move the shed back to its existing location. The roof, trim and siding are still not repaired. When I commented about this on Facebook they lied and said my husband said no other repairs are necessary as we are replacing the shed. This is untrue!!! We were advised they were looking for matching siding and have been waiting almost 3 months. Redmonds has since deleted my comments and blocked me from their Facebook page. They may have nice plants, but if anything goes wrong, they WILL NOT own up to it and make you whole. Beware.

Hilary Baxter: This is definitely a go to for wonderful planes and flowers. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. It’s clean and very well kept
Response: Thank you so much Hilary! We appreciate you king words and your business!

Kimberly Wolf: First time visiting today and it was awesome!! So much to do with the family! Wine tasting, pictures with Santa, tractor rides, petting zoo, cute home decor, crafts and games for kids, face painting, virtual sleigh ride, the grinch & Cindy Lou who, smores bar & BBQ. Staff was friendly. So glad we came. Will definitely be coming back each holiday!
Response: Thank you so much! It has become a family tradition for so many of our customers! We are glad you had a great time and look forward to seeing you again!

D Torres: This place was great! They have so many things happening for Christmas. Santa was there to take pictures and the Grinch and Cindy loo as well. Kids have a blast dancing to the DJ plus there is a big fire pit to make s'mores. A small petting zoo with goats and alpaca. I loved the crafts that were sold indoor. Plus did a little wine tasting with Dimatteo vineyards.

Stuart Bercun (Stuart B): Great selection. Reliable delivery. Fair prices
Response: Thank you

Jimmy Rayfield: Love their plants and mulch…..best mulch East of the Mississippi!
Response: Thank you! We appreciate your business!

M P: This is a beautiful place to go and get pictures in front of some of the displays. The staff has always been happy. I was not to excited over the selection of bedding plants or choice of veggie plants.
Response: Sorry to hear you were not satisfied, we had a much larger variety but have sold out. Prices on soil, fertilizer and the plastic for the flats have all increased. We try to keep our prices as reasonable as possible.

Samantha Michaele: Wonderful selection of items and trees. Fantastic service!

Natty Garden: what do users think?

E O: Apologies for the blurry photos. I really enjoyed speaking with the staff. He helped me understand the best setting for the plants I was considering. You could tell he was busy but at the same time cares about the craft, and ensuring customers leave informed.

Mr. Shillington: Stop in with a friend to check them out. I about to go back to pickup for my herbs garden. Great location but it’s difficult for parking.

Bryan Petcoff: I read some reviews of this place to make sure they didn't have a history of bugs or pests in their plants, and was initially a little turned off by some of the reviews. I don't know what the fuss was about. I've been here close to a handful of times and I really like the place. They carry good products at a price that makes sense given the convenience of the location. They have some great plants, admittedly not cheap, but in mostly great care from what I've seen. And I can tell their inventory isn't old, because they've recently sold out of my preferred potting soil and were able to let me know more was coming in the coming days.

Michael Center: Good selection of plants, unfortunately everything is overpriced and the staff is horribly rude and unhelpful. I have visited this place several times and would let past rudeness slide marking it up to maybe that person was having a stressful day, however, during my most recent visit an employee went out of their way to shame my wife and I for wearing a mask while inside the building. This place is so convenient for this neighborhood, but that convenience is outweighed by their hostility.
Response: "I said i thought covid was over" is that Hostility to you and your wife. You know what is hostility? your comment, your aggression towards black people and their contribution to the neighborhood. thank you for the 1 star for my 14 years of hard work. welcome to the neighborhood. It will soon be all yours.

Sabrina Beaü: I had such a good experience at Natty Gardens this week. I was helped out by a guy named David. I really appreciate someone who takes pride in the job that they do. He was very knowledgeable about different plants/ best seasons to grow/How often to water them/ best bang for my buck. And I really appreciate that. Sometimes you go into stores with a lot of dumb questions. David never once made me feel like I was dumb for the most simplest questions. I really appreciate the hard work of the Natty Garden team. They made me feel not just a priority but like family. And that's very rare for Brooklyn lol

ifaa amit: Selection is nice, but some sections won’t show prices (which mostly are quite expensive). Home Depot gave much better prices 🤷‍♀️

Ashley Tjhoi: Lots of options for common plants. Came in for potting mix and orchid bark. Surprised to see all the pests preventions and will definitely come back for emergency infestations.

Kelly Holden: Extremely crowded. Staff weren't present or much help. Paid $24 for a small cactus that wasn't tagged, which is now rotting in my kitchen - literally oozing and moldy after 2 weeks. Sad! Recommend the Sill, where I have plants that are thriving for over 2 years! And since I can't respond to the owner's reply. I just want to add why I recommend going to another store - where they take more care and warranty plants. Dying after 2 weeks is not because I am "filled with hate", it's because there was something wrong with the plant, which was my point. Right back at you Natty Garden. Nice example of customer service and "love" for the community.
Response: Hi Kelly. You sound like a person filled with hate and rage. We live in a world filled with hate and bias and plants help a lot of people find love for things that can’t speak back. My suggestion. It’s not where you buy the plant, it is how you care for it. Doesn’t matter if it’s from Homedepot or Ikea. Guess what, the got them from a grower just like me. Visit the Sill and fill your house with plants and animals and I promise they will in time make you a Better Person. Bring love to your heart.

Josh Mojica: Jay is amazing! We got there a few minutes before close and helped us decide on the perfect plant for our space. They’re always friendly and helpful at Natty. :)

Sandra Whittington: I've gotten my healthiest, happiest plants for the best prices at Natty Garden. This place beats all the fancy stores hands-down. The person working there (the owner) is hard at work tending to the store, but he was very calm, patient, and helpful with me. Can't wait to go back. :)

Every week our algorithms find new sites and we only recommend the top 20 . next update in 625 minutes.
