Ginkgo Gardens: what do users think?

Kristen Diaz: Just moved here from Miami & have been searching for a new fav plant shop. Ive explored so many & this one is definitely it! Great selection of plants at reasonable prices. They have an outdoor & indoor section plus an upstairs portion. I’ve gotten so many plants from here already. The staff is also friendly & helpful. Recommend.

a: I finally had the chance to stop by Ginkgo Gardens, and it completely exceeded my expectations. There is a WIDE variety of plants, planters, tools, and more! During checkout, I told the man I was just beginning my gardening journey and he pulled out this book to help me with the plants I bought today! Thank you so much for the amazing experience and exceptional customer service. This isn’t the closest plant nursery to me, but it is 100% worth the trip. I will definitely be back soon!

Ashley Stewart: Ginkgo Gardens is a cozy neighborhood plant store where I get almost all of my houseplants and planters. They also have a wide selection if outdoor plants. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the plants are beautiful. Sometimes I just visit the store for some pleasant browsing.

Sheree P: I was recently in an unfortunately common predicament. My husband was on a business trip and my daughter was in quarantine from Pre school. So I was limited in what I could do but was also responsible for entertaining a busy toddler. During our time together, my daughter and I prepared our garden to plant vegetables. I was able to call Ginko, talk about specifics of our plan and pay over the phone. Someone even gladly brought the merchandise to my car. The customer service representative went above and beyond in taking the time to speak with me and my daughter about our desires and even researched a topic for us. I feel valued as a customer and will always come back for my gardening needs.

Siena Dante: Reasonable prices based on my past experience buying plants in New York City. Staff was really friendly and knowledgeable and gave me good plant recommendations. They have a good and varied selection as well

Ryan Ellis: I ordered a succulent garden to surprise my wife. The arrangement was awesome, but the plants were not doing well after a couple of days. I contacted Urban Jungle. They delivered a brand new garden and let me keep the old one. The new succulent garden is doing much better. Good customer service!

Little Leaf: what do users think?

Ben Segall: Love this place. Got a rlly nice fern in a gorgeous handmade ceramic pot. The plant selection is awesome and they are rlly nice and helpful. Be aware: most of the ceramics and plants are sold separately. The ceramics are mostly handmade and therefore priced accordingly, so if you don’t want to spend extra on a planter pot I suggest you bring your own and have them repot it for you. Overall this place is a 10/10 recommend. Will definitely go back soon.

Melissa Pazornik: Eleanor was absolutely wonderful to work with! Her eye for arrangements and knowledge about each plant was phenomenal. The entire team made my experience so enjoyable and I am OBSESSED with the final product.

Holden Rhodes: Hands down the best indoor plant boutique in DC. There’s no other place like it. The selection is always excellent and the profits are high quality and extremely healthy, especially compared to other plant stores in the area. I’ve bought nearly all of my plants from here and there’s a noticeable difference in the longevity of the products purchased here versus chain stores. Staff is consistently helpful and welcoming and the aesthetic never fails!

Ms.: Nice gem in D.C. great selection of plants, all shapes and sizes. Great staff. Some items are great to give as gifts. Books, cards, pots etc. Loved the pot hangers

Lindsey Casella: Always love stopping by this gem. The plants are reasonably priced and the decor/design of the store feels like Justin’s Blakeney Jungalow come to life !!!! Here are my newest additions from the store, that I snagged for total of ~$25. (Note: care cards are included, which is ideal for beginners!)

Johnson's Florist and Garden Centers: what do users think?

Jesse Cowan: Terrific customer service today! I was greeted right away by a friendly staffer who showed me just the plant I was looking for and helped me pick one from 3 healthy specimens. Then another friendly staffer potted it for me, and when she understood it was to be a gift, wrapped it with pretty tissue paper. So grateful, and looking forward to coming back soon.

Bailey Price: Beautiful garden center that had everything I could have needed! Thanks so much to Eileen for working with me for about a half hour to pick all of the right plants and materials for what I was looking for! They turned out so nicely!

Andrea: This place is a plant haven. I would recommend going here over any other shop. The products are high quality, staff is friendly and there is a large selection. I got two small house plants and the staff had such good recommendations for my situation.

J. D. Rosenzweig: Great local flower and plant store. Much better going here than a big box store. Excellent plants inside for gifts. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Chanpen Tee: There are a lot of plants foe indoors and outdoors. Staff is friendly.

SHEENA BAILEY WILKERSO: This place is absolutely lovely. They have a variety of many plants and flowers. From the moment I stepped into the store the employees greeted me and they met my need. Honestly, the store is so comforting and so is the service here. It was worth every penny and I definitely will be back!!! The flowers are sooo beautiful; I just know my mom will love them

sherry zion: Had the best professional yet friendly experience ever! Michael and Mary are so friendly, they made me this beautiful vase with colorful and gorgeous flower arrangement for a dinner. It was last minute and they did it so elegantly yet so fast. Would be back again soon

SHAUN BAKER: M and M Michael and Mary are phenomenal. I came to House of Flowers to get birthday flowers for my dear friend Wendy. Beautiful tulip arrangement!! Go see them often! They’re the best! Thank you Michael and Mary! I will be back... Shaun

Owen Benons: Mary is incredible and extremely sweet and accommodating. The selection of flowers is top notch. They were able to expedite my order. The flower selection is second to none and the house dog is adorable. What a great place 10/10 would recommend, competitive pricing as well tell them Owen sent you!

barcemayne11: My go-to flower shop that never ceases to amaze me with their beautiful bouquets. I’m thankful for their amazing staff and the work they do. Mary is a sweetheart and gives the best costumer service while Michael and Uma are true artists! All I have to do is tell them the occasion and my budget and they create the most beautiful works of art. Gentlemen, make the right decision and get your significant others an arrangements from House of Flowers. You’re supporting a local business and you’ll be blown away

Jennifer L: Had a last-minute mission to find a boutonniere for my daughter’s prom date, and called House of Flowers since it was around the corner from my office. They could not have been nicer and were so happy to make one for me in practically no time - and it was absolutely stunning! I will definitely be ordering flowers from them in the future.

Jessica Kidane: This place has been a lifesaver for me the last few weeks when I needed to grab quick, last minute gifts. Their chocolate selection is very good and they make beautiful arrangements. Most of all, their customer service is top notch. They once delivered a last minute arrangement on Valentine’s Day for my boss’s wife with detailed instructions. They saved the day (not to mention a tremendous headache on my end) and followed the instructions to the letter. I’ve never been disappointed with them!

Amanda Cassidy: The staff at House of Flowers was incredibly patient and knowledgeable about their flowers. They walked me through different price points and arrangements, and made sure I had what I wanted at a great price when I left. Highly recommend!

J. Madison: Mary was absolutely wonderful waking me through selecting a beautiful arrangement for my Valentines Day plan. The pic below is just a starter. We’ve made arrangements to go big for actual V-Day. Thx so much!

Patuxent Nursery: what do users think?

Olivia S.O: Best nursery I’ve ever been to. Customer service is absolutely incredible, they’re happy to help + they know their stuff AND my favorite thing? When they don’t, they CHECK. No need to act like you know every single detail on every single plant, and having us customers deal with the consequences. Abby helped me pick a rubber tree plant and an aloe plant, and gave me shipping information on when I can come back for a snake plant. She also gave me a ton of information on each, types of planters, and some extra info for my stubborn calethea medallion at home. Even went outside to get me a cart when my plants became too much for my arms. Leanne was super sweet, showed me a rare plant they have coming in, and helped where she could and brought Abby over to me because she was in a different department. There was a gentleman who was walking around loading things, saw I had a rubber tree plant in my cart and just gave me a bunch of helpful information. You can tell these people love their jobs, their coworkers, and genuinely love to help. It’s refreshing!! I’m already plotting on a few more plants so I can go back!

Ashley Robertson: My friends know I love plant nurseries. One friend taking on a big landscape project asked me to recommend a nursery near DC, with fair prices, a wide selection, and knowledgable staff. I immediately recommended Patuxent. And they did not let us down. We were helped by Gabby who knew the best outdoor plants for my friend’s waterlogged yard. My friend wanted to attract butterflies and Gabby showed us the options for those as well. Several other staff members helped us protect and load up her truck with her selection. I was especially impressed because it started raining while we were shopping and Gabby grabbed her raincoat and kept on showing us around...well my friend around. I went inside the garden center to keep dry 😂. After picking her outdoor plants my friend had a question about an indoor plant that was dying and Gabby directed us to an indoor plant expert! By the end, my friend was raving about the stellar service and I was so glad to have converted another friend into a nursery lover! Thanks Patuxent!

Witchman: Fantastic customer serice and great selection!! I was looking for a half yard of topsoil, which some nurseries wont do. I sent an email and they promptly replied. She said they do and gave me the price. Checkout was quick and the loader operator was on point. Five stars all day long!

Stunna Daren: They have a wide variety of plants…bought some black mulch which the landscapers says was good quality. A little more expensive, but you do get some warranty on the expensive plants. Also, the manager will personally assist you with questions the staff are not able to. Which is understandable, not all the staff can be highly knowledgeable in plants and shrubs.

U.S. National Arboretum Azalea Collection: what do users think?

Tunam Ansok: Make sure to check out the Bonsai collection. Amazing! The grounds are very beautiful as well. No entrance fee, park where you can spend many hours. You can drive in and around the park (since it’s so big, you might want to), but some sections are blocked to cars so you’ll have to park along the side and walk. Great venue!

Alona: I’ve never seen so many azaleas!!! It’s so peaceful and beautiful here❤️

Kirsten Neus: This is one of the most beautiful sites in Washington when the Azaleas are all in bloom in the spring! There are thousands of azaleas all around the trails in this wooded area and many of them are experimental varieties not found elsewhere. It’s an incredible site!

P Ak: Beautiful Azaleas everywhere. Great for hiking and walking and enjoying the nature.

Mark Cruz: There are so many beautiful varieties of azaleas and rhododendrons. The blossoming in April each year is amazing.

Nagesh Bvrch: This is must spring time visiting place. Otherwise for bonsai plants at any time.

Lely Sunardi: Nice & quiet Place

Bartholdi Fountain and Gardens (U.S. Botanic Garden): what do users think?

Blair Finkelstein: Had tea there 6 morning in a row. Quiet in the middle of the city. The fountain was a pleasant source of music. The garden is beautiful and part of it serves as a demonstration kitchen garden. Well worth a stop b

Adriana VH: Beautiful garden to visit. Counting down to head back up to see the spring flowers in full bloom. First time in years seeing D.C. in the snow in March.

Scott Cornelius: Beautiful park and fountain! Luv these plants bbs

Kyle Hartmann: Home to the Bartholdi Fountain, designed by the same Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi as the Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World), Bartholdi Park (frequently referred to as Bart Park) has great views of the Capitol and cultivated gardens around the fountain. The kitchen garden is spectacular in summer, but cool season crops allow for interest all year. There are regional plants such as bog and carnivorous in a rill, and other ones of interest around the few thousand square-foot park. This is still open despite the pandemic, so it definitely worth checking out if around nearby. Cheers.

Bianca Baldizon: Absolutely gorgeous and cozy corner garden with a spectacular view of the US Botanical Garden greenhouse. Worth the pit stop!

Camila Botero: Really beautiful and romantic place.

Maureen Huseman: Beautiful park across the street from the US Capitol Building. Plants and flowers are marked with descriptions. When looking at the fountain in a certain side, you can see the Capitol Building in the background. Very stunning

Sam Odle: Great spot for reading outside or an outdoor meetup/picnic when the weather is nice. Created in 1932, and named after the sculptor of the Fountain of Light and Water at the park’s center, Bartholdi park is overseen by the Botanical garden and is rarely busy as it’s often overshadowed by the nearby Senate grounds.

Sassy Sauce: Great discounts on Christmas items as part of the holiday sale. I picked up Christmas stockings for under $5.00. There were fire pits on clearance as well. I like this location and they generally have the items I’m in need of for repairs or decorations, etc. The staff is very helpful as well.

Kev- keepingitreal: This location offers a variety of affordable items for your home improvement needs. I really appreciate the staff in the aisle for assisting me with finding items on my check list. At check out the cashier was welcoming and friendly. This store was very clean and offers plenty of parking.

Jessica Fullington: Today I went to the garden center for some outside plants. Yolanda was so very helpful! She was able to answer my questions, she even went and got me a cart so that it was easier for me to get the items I purchased to my car. It is so refreshing to have people who are pleasant and helpful at their jobs I will definitely come back to this location to get all the plants I need this spring! Marla was very helpful as well along with the young man who answered some of my questions about my plans. All around a wonderful experience!

United States National Arboretum: what do users think?

Eduardo Moser: We visited during cherry blossom days. They have a great variety of cherry trees and magnolias. It is a complement to know different cherry blossoms from those of the Tidal Basin. There is no proper public transportation, so the place is fairly free of tourists. We came to this place by car on the recommendation of a friend who lives in DC. The Bonsai collection is amazing. There is much to walk and explore. On a plain they have mounted the original columns of the Capitol. Bring some snacks and drinks, because there is no service in the place. Access and parking is free.

Da-Wang Wu: We came here in late April, and the Azalea blossoming was pretty amazing! Walking on the trail with the Azalea blossoming along the way was very nice. Parking inside the park can be tricky, so we parked in the lot right next to the entrance and walked 5-10 minutes to the main campus. Overall, it’s a beautiful place, and I would definitely come back.

CJ: Depending on when you visit the US National Arboretum, something different is peaking. In mid April, the fruit trees were just past peak, but the lilacs shrubs were close to full bloom. As I strolled thru the lilac grove, the soft lilac fragrance permeated the air. One of the US National Arboretum’s most prominent and a little puzzling landmarks is the old Corinthian National Capitol Columns residing on the Ellipse Meadow. The US National Arboretum was not the column’s intended home when they were quarried back in the early 1800s. Originally, the columns were built as a part of the east portico of the US Capitol Building now located about 3 miles away from the US National Arboretum. By the 1860s, when the dome of the Capitol was completed, the columns were deemed inadequate to support the new dome. It wouldn’t be until the mid 1980s before the columns would find their final home at the US National Arboretum. Twenty-two of the original 24 columns are on majestic display in Ellipse Meadow. During our trip to the US National Arboretum in mid April, the Azaleas were just starting to bud and bloom. So no good pictures this trip. Peak time for the Azalea garden at the arboretum is late April. I hear the Azaleas are a beautiful sight when the hillside is painted with splotches of different colors.

Karthikeyan Rajaram: Luck is when you run into a beautiful place like this without planning. Better luck is when you get into it in the company of a person who used to volunteer at this place. We didn’t really plan to be at the arboretum, considering that the Spring is still not Springy enough. We had seen enough of Cherry Blossoms in the Tidal basin area that we thought we could do something else. We just made it to this place on recommendation from one of our relatives, who also accompanied us. Since he was a volunteer here, he helped us navigate and gave us so much insights about the different kinds of plants, flowers, bonsais and the what the lovely people who work here, do. We drove around this place and still got to see more cherry blossoms, along with different other species of flora. The enchanting Bonsai museum is a must visit as it did take our breathes away. The old columns of the capitol and the grove of different state trees are some of the special features of this place. The flowers were not in full blossom and we definitely look forward to checking this place again in summer.

Logan Heilman: Visited for the Bonsai event they were having and had a blast. All the vendors were great and the museums bonsai and penjing exhibit was phenomenal. Will definitely be back.

Elisabeth “Beth” Ostrander: We only had about an hour and headed to the bonsai area. Wow! To see living gifts from Japan and China that were started and cared for since before the birth of our nation was truly outstanding. Befitting our National Arboretum! Will return to see more treasures!

Tam B: Take the kids, dogs, family and friends. Nice place to walk and learn about the plants and trees. Get up and get out and walk. Plenty of parking at different location throughout the park. Best part it’s FREE. Avoid the traffic of downtown DC and visit the Arboretum and enjoy the weather. Maybe wait till spring for the herbs and flowers to bloom and bonsai exhibit to open back up.

L: What a gem this place is. You can briskly jog and workout with beautiful scenery. You can casually walk and look to study all the amazing plants. A place you can visit any time of any season because there’s a story it’ll tell at any time.

Rin Wolfe: Very underrated place compared to the many museums in the city center. Lots of interesting sights to see including the famous bonsai collection, historic pillars, and the koi pond. If you have the time, you can poke around and find other interesting bits like the spice garden and state tree collection. Lots of nice paved and maintained paths to explore. Nice to visit any time to year, but most beautiful (and busy) when things are in bloom during spring. If possible, visit early on a weekday. Good place to see birds and other local wildlife too.

Laly Franka: I was impress to see so much beauty in the heart of the district. If you love nature this is the place.

Matthew Nguyen: Many beautiful little trails, sights, plants, and great places to take pictures!

Derek Wider: Nice and pretty, good place for a walk out of the city

Jonathan Zator (JZ): Beautiful escape from the city

Sean Finnegan: Such a jewel in DC. Great for leisurely strolls and/or finding a quiet spot to contemplate life.

Sinbat Siraseranant: Very nicely kept with variety of exotic plants.
