International Center For Language Studies: what do users think?
Teacher Jessie Foreign Language Instructor.
Teacher Jessie Foreign Language Instructor.: As a student and also as a former teacher I can say that ICLS exceed your expectations. Great resources, well trained and experienced teachers from different backgrounds. ICLS cares about their teachers and students. It was a wonderful experience not only to work there but also take some French lessons.
Tatyana Ariyevich
Tatyana Ariyevich: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityI took 2 tests with ICLS. The staff was professional yet friendly, and the testing process was well-organized. The instructions for both tests were clear and sent ahead of time. I received my test results in an hour. I would highly recommend ICLS for language testing.
Veronika Jerdetski
Veronika Jerdetski: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueI really enjoyed my French evening group class w Philippe! I gained a lot of knowledge about grammar & the class was heavily focused on improving students’ speaking ability. The value I got from my studies is certainly worth the (very reasonable) tuition. Thank you!
Brigid O'Donnell
Brigid O'Donnell: I took an evening foreign language here. Classes are engaging and teachers are knowledgeable. The curriculum is rigorous but manageable for busy people. 5/5 experience, would recommend.
Driss Bernoussi
Driss Bernoussi: I took the Spanish evening group class for beginners and it was an amazing experience. This is much different than learning a language in high school or college, which was much more boring for me. At ICLS, they get you speaking Spanish from the beginning, and its highly interactive style helps you become comfortable with your classmates. My teacher, Astrid, was fantastic. Our class became so close that by the end we went out for a dinner on our last class and practiced ordering in Spanish. I highly recommend to any language learner in the DC area that is looking to take a class after work. It meets twice a week so it is perfectly manageable for my busy schedule.
Response: Thank you, Driss! We are glad that you found our teaching methodology to be helpful to your learning process.

Mentora College - Washington, D.C.: what do users think?
Linh Truong
Linh Truong: Mentora College is totally the best place in DC to study ESL. Tuition is better than other ESL schools in the area and during COVID, they provide student housing to students and even gave a discount so everyone can afford it and continue attending classes online from the dorm. The teachers and administration clearly care about their students, and they are attentive and really listen if there is any issues.
Alex Roset
Alex Roset: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueMentora College is highly recommended. Small classes, very affordable prices, several class schedules, excellent location half a block from a metro station, and upscale facilities. More importantly, a very qualified team of experienced English-speaker teachers.
C Hstreet
C Hstreet: The students, the two supervisors, and fellow teachers are amazing. It is a diverse group of people. The three stars are for the these people. However, the lower review is due to the higher administration. The environment is toxic to work in and the chances for advancement are not present. Writing this review will probably result in a search to figure out who did it and result in punishment by the higher management. This is why it is being posted with an alternative username. People are worried about keeping their job and say "yes" to the higher administration. This has caused a lack of any change to occur to make the school better for the staff.
Koray Bintas
Koray Bintas: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueGreat place to work and study! The school provides scholarships not only to its students, but also their employees so that they could continue their their professional development while working. Fantastic location in the heart of D.C!
Response: Thanks Koray!
Mustafa Aktaş
Mustafa Aktaş: If you think about studying ESL in DC, this school is the best option. They have modernized classrooms, the library and the computer lab are very convenient to spend time. They have ESL and American Experience classes which are giving you chance to choose the days you want to go to school. You also have different teacher every session. I had an amazing experience and really loved the location!
nutthaphat champasak
nutthaphat champasak: I used to study in Mentora college 3 months. In my opinion, this school is good but not all. i like teachers in this school because they are friendly and informally. On the other hand, i do not like the tuition process that you have to pay before you want to take vacation or transfer to other school.
Tiptunya Kampim
Tiptunya Kampim: Mentora College is a good international school that I have learned in USA. There are a lot of fieldtrips and activities. I have many good teachers and cute friends. My best teacher that I have studied with is Mr. Brian Murphy. He always took care students and helped students when we had some problems of learning in the class. He taught very well and applied many games and activities that is easy to remeber the words in many lessons. He is active and creative. I met him in the first time of ESL class. He made me like learning English and start intending to study English. I love ESL class so much because I can know how to write good essay and how to speak or presentation in front of many people and we always practiced to learn English so I can use English in routines very well and this school is my best for me.

keith o'connor
keith o'connor: We went though Caribou for our refinancing and our experience was great thanks to Daniel Schoonmaker! He was very helpful and kept us updated on our status through email, text, and phone calls. If we had any questions he would get back to us fast with answers. He was awesome!
C D
C D: I did not get the level of instruction I expected. While my instructor was a nice person, I expected the beginner class to build vocabulary and grammar, however we rapidly advanced beyond the basics. When discussing the class with a fellow student, he said he was having difficulty and he studied the same language in college. Ultimately, the final day of class came and only myself and another student showed up for the “final.” When I requested I discount to repeat the beginner course, I was told there are no refunds or discounts. I understand we are still working in Covid limitations and business isn’t quite what it was beforehand, but providing subpar instruction and effectively telling me to “deal with it”, is bad business. The instructor even told us the faculty told them to slow down, so they were aware it wasn’t proceeding effectively. I’ll be continuing my instruction with another provider.
Monir Salim
Monir Salim: I like the school very much. All of the teachers are very knowledgeable, friendly and cooperative. The educational environment for the international student is very positive. I miss my teachers. Jim & Jena are very good instructor for TOEFL preparation class. Bethany, Bonnie, Jennifer and Cloudia are also so good in the school management.
Romain Devaux
Romain Devaux: I would not recommend Hindi classes. The teacher is really nice but is just not a teacher (and I am a language teacher, I can tell). No instructive approach, no teaching material but her book she followed to the letter. She kept distressing, reading chapters after chapters without taking the time to let us actually use the language. My advise - ask for a trial course to get to know the teacher before making any commitment to that school.
Leslie Shah
Leslie Shah: I really liked the International Language Institute (ILI). ILI has clear rules and expectations of teachers, staff, and students. There is a high degree of client customer service, respect and trust. ILI wants and works for student success. They offer and do as they so they do. Testing and Assessment are routine and part of progression.
Chaleeya Sri-intaranan
Chaleeya Sri-intaranan: I had an appointment there to meet with the director name Fredrick! I really want to go to school but I have my visa situation (change of status) especially curently visa situation in the immigration is really bad and take so long. (But I have a Lawer on my side) Anyway, the way he looked at me and talked to me like I’m fresh from the boat!! And he said I’m just trying to get the visa just for staying in America !!! Not for studying!!!!!!!! I can’t believe that I heard that word from a school director!!! That’s unprofessional, but now I got acceptance from the other schools already. I definitely not recommend this school !! They should have talked to applicants better more polite and more Professional!!!
Response: I'm very sorry to hear that you feel like you were not treated fairly and professionally. That was certainly not my intention. As I explained to you when we had our meeting, your case is very complicated. Not only were you already here in the U.S. as an au-pair for two years, but you also have two B1/B2 visitor change of status applications pending for almost a full year. If you now file change of status application to be an F1 student you would have to file another B1/B2 extension application without even having a decision on your pending applications. I'm not an immigration attorney, but I'm not sure this is even possible. We have never had a case like this in my 16 years as director of ILI. As I also explained to you, if you want to be a student it would be a lot easier and quicker to travel back to your country and apply for the student visa from there. It is currently taking about one year to get a response on change of status applications. However, you stated you really wanted to stay here and wait another year to begin your studies if approved. I respectfully informed you that we are unfortunately not willing to accept your application due to the complicated nature of it, but you insisted that we should still help you. I wish you the best with your application and future plans of being a student in the U.S.

Thanks to your guidance and patience, I have learned and improved grammar rules. After working with Janna, my coworkers mentioned how they noticed an improvement in my writing and pronunciation. I still have a lot of work to do to enhance my English, but thanks to my tutor Janna I have great tools to continue this journey. Janna is a professional and dedicated tutor, and she is also fun, sweet, and friendly.
Response: Thank you Gina! Janna and I are so happy that you are on your way to meeting your goals and that your coworkers have noticed the difference. She thoroughly enjoyed working with you. Jialing Hou

So definitely recommend Julie to learners who are in the job search or job applying process.
Response: Thank you Jialing! I love when I can help clients reach their goals.

Lloidy Guevara: So bad there is no 0 stars. I got an interview with the Director, I explained my needs in detailed, he sent a test and a registration form, which I completed. After waiting for a response for 2 weeks, I decided to call to see what was going on. Nobody knew what was going on, the Director never made notes, never got back to me and his personal had no idea who I was. After explaining again my goal to the person I was talking with, she told me that they may not have the right teacher for me. Very disorganize place that made me waste my time. If the head of the institution is this disorganized and careless, I just cannot imagine how the rest of the personal is. Do yourself a favor and find a more professional place to learn English This place is a joke

Carolina Abrusci Quijada
Carolina Abrusci Quijada: The sessions with Marike have been excellent. She assessed my level of English and has adapted each session to my needs. We have used the sessions to prepare material I need for my work, which has been of tremendous help. It goes without saying that she is an expert when it comes to English, but I especially value the approach she has to explaining everything with perfect and very clear examples. The sessions with her have improved my English and built my confidence. I recommended her to several colleagues, and they all share my opinion. Thank you Marike for all your help. Your sessions are not only educational, but also very fun.
Helga Veigl
Helga Veigl: I had a great time with Marike and I have learnt a lot during our sessions. She always customizes the lessons to my actual needs, and she makes sure that we are making progress. I always got some homework that was tailored to my needs and interests. She always gives feedback and sends it after the lessons. I highly recommend taking her classes. It is a very unique skillset she is offering, and it is very hard to find someone like her who understands all the delicacies of the business world.
Flavia Tello Sánchez
Flavia Tello Sánchez: Marike is not a simple English teacher. She is a fabulous private coach. Marike knows about global politics, different cultures and diplomacy, so you can encourage your skills to communicate in a professional way. She is also a friendly person. If you try some classes with her, you will understand why I am saying this. 100% recommended.
ISABEL CLAVERO
ISABEL CLAVERO: When I met Marike, the founder of LinguaLink DC, I realized right away that > she was the English teacher I needed. No more exercises not tailored to > your needs, no more so-called small groups of 8 people always focusing on > the same questions without any customization! Marike has changed all this > with her unique combination of being a great conversationalist and teacher > all in one. She has really helped me a lot with diverse topics ranging from > pronunciation to complicated press articles and always adapts her approach > to my needs. Isabel Clavero. Embassy of Spain
Javiera Sandoval Quiroz
Javiera Sandoval Quiroz: I highly recommend LinguaLinkDC to improve your English. I took a 3-months course to improve my speaking, and I feel that I have improved a lot. The methodology of the teacher is useful and practical, so you can easily track your advances. In addition, the teacher is very nice and smart, so she challenges you to think beyond. I will definitely continue recommending her to my Spanish-speaking colleagues. Thanks again, Marike.

John Wood
John Wood: As a current student I can say I am a huge fan of ISL for many reasons. I have been taking Portuguese there online with a fantastic professor and support staff and am having a lot of fun learning the language. When I visited Brazil my inlaws / family / friends all were asking me how I had improved so much recently and I told them about my classes at ISL. They told me I must have a good teacher and I said I definitely do. Other benefits include the flexibility of online classes and the the very affordable cost. Overall I am extremely happy with ISL and am excited I am finally on my way to becoming bilingual.

Fluent City: what do users think?
Mark Johnston
Mark Johnston: I had an excellent first experience with Fluent City. My teacher was incredible! He really brought the class to life and had us practicing Spanish constantly throughout class. Our teacher used a number of engaging activities to make the class social. Besides feeling like I really made progress in learning Spanish, I felt like I got to know my classmates and my teacher. Highly recommend!
Response: Thank you so much for your review Mark! We are ecstatic to hear that you enjoyed your class! Keep up the amazing work in Spanish 3 :D - Jess, and the Student Success team
Lauren P
Lauren P: I loved taking classes through fluent city!! They are conveniently located near the metro in downtown DC. My teacher was great! (Thanks Ramiro!) Class size was small so it was a more personal feel. Would (and have) recommend this course to my friends!
Response: Lauren, we are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your class with Ramiro! Gracias for joining us on your path toward Spanish fluency!
Chris Pabon
Chris Pabon: Fluent City is the way to go to learn a new language. Modern classrooms, small class size, located across from Metro Center. Very reasonable class times. I have taken classes at USDA and Goethe, and feel that Fluent City has provided me with the best overall learning experience.
Amenaua Foy
Amenaua Foy: Class was excellent. Instructor made the material relevant and fun while getting into the nuances of French. The location was not desirable as downtown D.C. at 1830 is a challenge to navigate/park.
Reed Muhra
Reed Muhra: This review is NOT for students... it is for teachers trying to find a job at this school. I applied for a PT teaching job at this school; I was asked to send a short video introducing myself then was transferred to a hiring manager in NYC, or I should say the only hiring manager. This person apparently has a hectic daily schedule, but insists to do all the interviews by himself- the interview was supposed to be via one of the social media platforms- first appointment he did not show up at all with no explanation whatsoever, he did not even send an email to apologize for mot showing up. I sent him an email, he apologized and gave another appointment; this time he showed up after about 45 minutes- I was already gone. Again, as if nothing happened- he did not even send an explanation, not even acknowledgement! I sent another detailed email... Simply and to sum up- if is the most unprofessional language school I have experienced!
Response: Reed, I am sorry to hear about your experience applying for a position as a teacher. We're growing quickly, but strive for a high level of communication. Our Hiring Manager will be contacting you today to address these concerns!
Vitória Lima de Moraes
Vitória Lima de Moraes: Overall good. I would recommend, but would ask if the professor will be able to teach all ten classes. In my class, I had three different professors, and that turned out to be inefficient. No one to blame, these things happen, but I would just make sure of that.
LuAnne Patrick
LuAnne Patrick: A wonderful learning experience. I think the materials are the best of any program that I looked at. The teachers are wonderful and friendly do a great job of teaching adults.

Diplomatic Language Services: what do users think?
Aicha Bensaid
Aicha Bensaid: I have been working for DLS, as a Foreign Language Instructor for the past 8 years and I have enjoyed being part of their instructors team and have had a good professional experience so far. The Management team including our Language Training Supervisors (LTS) are all very professional, diplomatic and treat their employees with respect and kindness. We continuously receive recognition and support from our Managers. I can only speak highly of DLS and will recommend it to anyone who is aiming to learn any Foreign language in the best possible and effective way!
Luis Chavez
Luis Chavez: Ustada Amal made it all worth it. On-line instruction is all around but she IS the course. Great knowledge, professionalism, punctual, and cares about her students. Thank you!
PeiHsuan Chiang
PeiHsuan Chiang: Chinese language teacher has strong political biases. She berated/yelled at the student for using a different dialect of Mandarin and barely came to her private class prepared. Unprofessional and patronizing to students. You should vet your chinese teachers and see if they are Chinese communist party members before hiring them to teach your future diplomats! Bad experience about one one one classes during COVID-19. Probably the teachers are more disciplined in person but slacking online? Doesn’t worth the money when the teacher basically picked a news article and asked you to read it out loud for 3 hours (didn’t edit the article at all therefore I said the teacher isn’t prepared for the class) Any native speaker can teach in this style. The teaching quality is AWFUL. Beware! After talking to the agency, apparently the teacher they hired did not have a teaching background. They hired her because she speaks the language.
Response: We are saddened to hear this feedback and take this very seriously. However, we are unable to find a record for you as a previous student of DLS in our system. Could you provide more information so that we may address this concern - what year did you study with us, and who was your instructor? It is our priority to remedy any discontentment from our community. Without knowing who the instructor is, we cannot address this properly. To look into this directly, please contact us at care@dlsdc.com with important details such as student and instructor name. If they would prefer to keep anonymity, please contact our HR hotline at 855-449-0417. We take resolving this issue very seriously and look forward to hearing back from you.
Malik Siraj Akbar
Malik Siraj Akbar: I have had the pleasure to work with DLS as a curriculum developer. The staff is extremely professional and supportive. I would highly recommend them to people interested in foreign languages. They are very closely located outside the Rosslyn metro station in Arlington, Virginia.
VPlatium
VPlatium: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueI had one of the greatest instructor for Spanish language. DLS was always professional and very attentive to my needs. I recommend them highly.
Fery Farsi
Fery Farsi: The only both student and instructor friendly language school in DMV area I have taught at. If you plan on learning a language long term , DLS is the only school you can afford to choose.
Ebony Marafa
Ebony Marafa: The most unprofessional, unorganized and disrespectful institution I have ever tried to work with. They emailed and offered a position with start date and then asked to go to their office, which is about 30 miles from my home. I went only to learn that the position has been filled.
Response: We are sorry to hear you felt your experience with DLS was negative. We do our best to keep everyone – instructors, students, staff, clients – informed and pleased with the services provided, so we take your discontentment seriously. We do realize that the temporary position about which you were first contacted was filled before you came to our office for an interview, and we apologize for not informing you of that beforehand. However, as we anticipate other, relevant opportunities arising in the near future, we felt it was still prudent for you to meet with your Language Training Supervisor. It is common practice – at least at DLS and other schools we are familiar with – for LTS’s to meet with instructors prior to giving them a first class. This ensures that the instructor is comfortable with the environment, it allows the LTS to gauge which students the instructor would best mesh with, and it allows the instructor and LTS to get to know each other. We do stand by this practice, as we find it makes our teachers feel like a part of the bigger DLS team, but we also recognize that it was not a practice that worked for you. And for that, we sincerely apologize!
Ibrat Usmanov
Ibrat Usmanov: Best company! Professional Management! Great Staff! It is a pleasure to work with such great professionals!
Veronica Rivero
Veronica Rivero: The place that speaks the languages of the world. #DLS
