Goethe-Institut Washington: what do users think?

Diego Chojkier: This review is only valid for the World Cup. The Goethe Institut has been nice enough to project all of ze Germany games on a giant screen. The upstairs ampitheater holds a large crowd of (politely rowdy) German fans. Most importantly, it's BYOB. The walgreens across the street just became your best friend.

Kevin Brazda: Amazing place to learn and grow not only your skills as a German speaker but also the quintessential location to broaden your cultural understanding of Germanic anthropologies

Patrick Göbels: Building bridges.

Gamble Hayden: Great place!

Derek Lesho: (Translated by Google) Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere (Original) Freundliches Personal und gemütliche Stimmung

German International School Washington D.C.: what do users think?

Hans Loes: Our son came into K and was well able to read and write, and was looking forward to starting school. Within a year, and mainly through teacher behavior, they destroyed his motivation entirely, and caused learning disorders and behavior issues in the poor child. As a 'remedy', they put tremendous pressure on us as parents to drug the kid. The English language classes were particularly poor, and we had to tutor privately. As a result, we removed both children and enrolled them in an (excellent) public school, where he scored solid 2's in Q1. The damage was done. The teachers worked together with us to constantly address any issues, something we have always looked for at German School but could never managed to achieve. Here, it was built into the curriculum. Within the year, our son improved to 3's and is now bringing home straight 4's. After a year's worth of repair and nerves, our kids are finally back on pre-German school levels. The more people we talk to, the more we find with a similar experience. We are very disappointed how unaccommodating the school was towards any child or situation out of the ordinary. Compared to the public school we on now, we cannot understand to this day how all these fees were justified.

Jan Eichstaedt: Best school ever!

tan tai Nguyen: very good

Robro: Fantastic 👍

Berlitz Washington DC Language Center: what do users think?

Lauren L: Taking Spanish lessons at Berlitz has been a wonderful experience. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating if there are any scheduling hiccups. My teachers go above and beyond by using different learning materials or thinking of creative ideas to keep pushing me to learn.
Response: Thank you, Lauren, for your feedback!

Leticia Vasquez: Attempted to enroll in Portuguese classes and contacted several people from the facility, but no one ever helped me sign up for classes. It's been 5 months in total since I showed my interest in taking the classes, but they never took that under consideration. It's just a lack of professionalism and customer service.
Response: Thank you for your review, Leticia. It is very important that we are meeting a high standard of customer service. We understand you inquiried at the Tysons Center location and interested in taking courses at the DC center, and did not receive a prompt response. We sincerely apologize for the delay in communication. We value your feedback and it will allow us to continue to improve our processes. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the DC center directly and hope to open the lines of communication once again.

International Center For Language Studies: what do users think?

Teacher Jessie Foreign Language Instructor.: As a student and also as a former teacher I can say that ICLS exceed your expectations. Great resources, well trained and experienced teachers from different backgrounds. ICLS cares about their teachers and students. It was a wonderful experience not only to work there but also take some French lessons.

Olivia Hoffmann: Positive: ProfessionalismI loved my Spanish class at ICLS this fall. My instructor communicated well with our class. I learned conversational and professional skills. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to further their language education!

Tatyana Ariyevich: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityI took 2 tests with ICLS. The staff was professional yet friendly, and the testing process was well-organized. The instructions for both tests were clear and sent ahead of time. I received my test results in an hour. I would highly recommend ICLS for language testing.

Veronika Jerdetski: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueI really enjoyed my French evening group class w Philippe! I gained a lot of knowledge about grammar & the class was heavily focused on improving students’ speaking ability. The value I got from my studies is certainly worth the (very reasonable) tuition. Thank you!

Hongying Jia: Don't take test through this company. I should read this review before I picked this company as my tester. I'm a native Mandarin speaker who was born in China and had schools from elementary through post graduate school. I have been teaching Mandarin in US for 10 years. I just took other two Mandarin tests from other organizations and get superior level in Mandarin. But the testers of this company, ICLS, gave me a randomly low score. Same thing, they won't review my test until I pay another $200.

Brigid O'Donnell: I took an evening foreign language here. Classes are engaging and teachers are knowledgeable. The curriculum is rigorous but manageable for busy people. 5/5 experience, would recommend.

Driss Bernoussi: I took the Spanish evening group class for beginners and it was an amazing experience. This is much different than learning a language in high school or college, which was much more boring for me. At ICLS, they get you speaking Spanish from the beginning, and its highly interactive style helps you become comfortable with your classmates. My teacher, Astrid, was fantastic. Our class became so close that by the end we went out for a dinner on our last class and practiced ordering in Spanish. I highly recommend to any language learner in the DC area that is looking to take a class after work. It meets twice a week so it is perfectly manageable for my busy schedule.
Response: Thank you, Driss! We are glad that you found our teaching methodology to be helpful to your learning process.

Brent Peabody: Great school. I can say for what they lack in number of courses offered they make up for with the quality of the instruction itself. I took 30 hours of intensive Portuguese, and the instructor (Nilzelaine) made personal Powerpoints tailored to me before each session. The only downside is that during summer they don't have enough students to host group classes for less-studied languages, so be sure to confirm with them if they're actually teaching a class even if it's listed on their website. The thing that mosts distinguishes ICLS is the quality of their instructors. Mine spoke English flawlessly (so understood some of the difficulties in learning Portuguese from an English perspective) and had a background in pedagogy. Also nice is the fact ICLS classrooms have amenities like computers and projectors... this may sound basic, but I when I took classes at the International Language Institute, there was nothing but a whiteboard in each classroom. This may sound nice but for the fact it's so much easier to convey information through a prepared Powerpoint than, say, writing each conjugation over and over again on a whiteboard.
Response: Thank you Brent! We are glad that you enjoyed your class with Nilzelaine!

Berkay DEMIRKAN: I have studied English (ESL) Program in ICLS for a year and half. It was a great experience. The instructors were really friendly and they cared about our learning progress a lot. It wasn't just a language school, it was a cultural experience.
Response: Thank you, Berkay! You are a great student. We are glad that you are using your English to achieve your professional goals.

Nataliya Alekseyenko: Do not use them for language testing. I was tested in Russian<>English and neither one of the two testers were native speakers unlike me. They gave me random scores indicating I do not have competence in my native language and when I asked to explain their grading criteria they said they wouldn't but I could pay them even more money for their graders to review my scores. I have been teaching foreign language at several universities for over 10 years and I am very disappointed in their assessment and lack of accountability.

International School of Languages: what do users think?

John Wood: As a current student I can say I am a huge fan of ISL for many reasons. I have been taking Portuguese there online with a fantastic professor and support staff and am having a lot of fun learning the language. When I visited Brazil my inlaws / family / friends all were asking me how I had improved so much recently and I told them about my classes at ISL. They told me I must have a good teacher and I said I definitely do. Other benefits include the flexibility of online classes and the the very affordable cost. Overall I am extremely happy with ISL and am excited I am finally on my way to becoming bilingual.
Response: Thank you so much John for your nice review! It is great that your Portuguese classes are going well with Rosangela and that you have accomplished so much. We are very happy to have you as a student!

June Lee: My daughter worked with a wonderful tutor from middle school through her high school graduation to supplement her school French class and to improve her French speaking/listening comprehension. As her schedule became busier I would check to see if she wanted to continue the tutoring sessions and the answer was always a strong YES. Johannes' patience, warmth and natural teaching style really helped her improve her level, confidence and interest in truly learning beyond school. Johannes and the staff at ISL are invested in their students - celebrating, congratulating or showing concern as life events happen outside of class. This is a connection we will always appreciate.
Response: Dear June, thank you very much for sharing your experience at ISL. We are lucky to have such nice students!

Tatijana Pesic: I had the excellent experience with the International School oh languages. They came to my assistance when I needed them and were most prompt and expedient when I needed them. I am most happy with everything with them. I recommend them completely. The language teacher was most nice and helpful. I had the good experience with them. Thank you International School of Languages. I will use you again.
Response: Thank you Tatijana for sharing your experience. It has been a pleasure having you as a student. A presto!

Bill Geary: I started taking individual in-person French classes through ISL just before the pandemic shut everything down. Classes continued on Zoom which is a great format for one-on-one language training. Everything is captured on the whiteboard and emailed to me so I don't have to focus on taking lots of notes... instead I can focus on listening and learning. My teacher is a native French speaker and everyone involved with ISL has been friendly, flexible, and communicative. I also use Duolingo but it is not as good at teaching languages. I highly recommend language training at ISL.
Response: Hello Bill, Bill, thank you so much for taking the time to kindly share your experience with us! We are very happy that you are enjoying the French lessons at ISL. We look forward to continue helping you in your French journey :)

Bill Lustig: I have taken beginner Spanish lessons here since September 2012, and have been very pleased with my progress. My instructor was always prepared for class, and did a good job explaining confusing subjects (for me, it was grammar, while for another student in my class, it was pronunciation). The office staff was very helpful, and was great about setting up make-up classes for me whenever I had a scheduling conflict. If you're hoping to learn a new language, or brush up on one that's gotten rusty, I would definitely recommend Language Fundamentals. Also, it's nearby a pretty good burger place.

Johnnie Kenneybrew: I took both Portuguese and Hebrew at ISL for a few months and I was thrilled with the service I received. The school is very small which allows for you to get more individualized attention from the teacher and you get a chance to build good relationships with those around you as well. I really enjoyed the approaches that were used in classes. The Portuguese teacher, Rosangela, really went above and beyond and worked hard to ensure that we were really pushing ourselves in class and working outside of the classroom as well (she also brought in pão de queijo which was a delicious motivator). I had a blast refreshing my Hebrew skills with private lessons and group classes as well. The teacher, Miriam, was very supportive as we went over the alef-bet, basic vocabulary, and conversational Hebrew that I'd be able to use everyday during my trip to Israel. She was really creative and made class very interactive sometimes even with songs and coloring (2 activities that I feel are underrated when it comes to learning a new language!). The administrative team was extremely flexible with me and I could not be happier with the relationships I've made at ISL or with the language services I've received. I am taking a break for now just because I can't find the time these days but as soon as that changes I will be back in the classroom. I found their classes and lessons to be quite affordable and everyone you interact with there truly wants to help you on you goal of learning a new language. It's a really uplifting environment!

Ana Toribio: I had english conversational private lessons for 12 hours. The teacher was great, she had lots of patience, very good manners and a big constantly smile. I can say my english really improved. I would highly recommend International School of Languages to anyone who wants to improve in english speaking language.
Response: Ana, thank you so much for your kind review. We are happy that you had a good experience with us. It has been a pleasure meeting you. Hope to see you soon! Have a great trip back home!

Alpaca Paca: WORST management & irresponsible customer service! (I would rate a negative star if I could!) I've registered for the Japanese language spring classes like one month ago. ONE hour prior to the class started , I got a call from the center saying that the classes is CANCELLED due to I'm the only student where they need at least 2 pax to start the group class!! I was being recommended to wait a week or two perhaps there will be additional head count for the class, or I can switch it to private lesson ( 7 instead of 11 classes for what I've paid .) I will appreciate if they could carry on the class as I was given such a last minute notice. However, I was not being offered that . Instead , I requested for refund as I'm so disappointed with the management. Meanwhile , other language schools has started their spring classes too , means that I can't sign up at other centers too! Well, I wish you luck if you were to sign up for this school.
Response: Dear Lim, I am sorry that this has happened. We definitely did not reach our standards today when we missed the fact that there was only one student (you) enrolled in today's class and failed to call you earlier to let you know. Instead, we gave you a call an hour before the class was supposed to start so I understand your frustration. I would feel the same way. As a first time student with us, I am sorry that this is the impression we have left on you. Many of our students have been with us for several years largely because of their satisfaction with our services. We recognize our mistake and for that reason we were very prompt in refunding your entire investment. Please accept our apologies once again.

Matthew Wilson: THE place to sign up for intensive personalized training at the right level for you!
Response: Thank you Matthew for sharing! We are happy to hear that lessons are going well with Ana Maria. Very happy to have you as our student!

Nancy Shalett: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueMy professor is fabulous - and the staff is attentive and pleasant I can highly recommend them!
Response: Nancy, thank you soo much for your kind words. Students like you is what makes us want to work harder every day!

International Language Institute: what do users think?

keith o'connor: We went though Caribou for our refinancing and our experience was great thanks to Daniel Schoonmaker! He was very helpful and kept us updated on our status through email, text, and phone calls. If we had any questions he would get back to us fast with answers. He was awesome!

C D: I did not get the level of instruction I expected. While my instructor was a nice person, I expected the beginner class to build vocabulary and grammar, however we rapidly advanced beyond the basics. When discussing the class with a fellow student, he said he was having difficulty and he studied the same language in college. Ultimately, the final day of class came and only myself and another student showed up for the “final.” When I requested I discount to repeat the beginner course, I was told there are no refunds or discounts. I understand we are still working in Covid limitations and business isn’t quite what it was beforehand, but providing subpar instruction and effectively telling me to “deal with it”, is bad business. The instructor even told us the faculty told them to slow down, so they were aware it wasn’t proceeding effectively. I’ll be continuing my instruction with another provider.

Aurelia K: I've taken several Persian classes with ILI over the past 6 months and I recommend them. The Persian instructor is fantastic, as are the remote training capabilities. Classes start and end on time, and the time we do have is used to the fullest so I get my money's worth. I like that the class sizes are small enough that I get individual attention. I will say that you should be confident about the level you are signing up for - I find that some students will sign up for more advanced levels than they should, but that's not ILI's fault. Finally, the coordination is smooth and it's easy to contact Jane with issues or concerns. I'll be continuing to use ILI for my Persian learning in the future!

Monir Salim: I like the school very much. All of the teachers are very knowledgeable, friendly and cooperative. The educational environment for the international student is very positive. I miss my teachers. Jim & Jena are very good instructor for TOEFL preparation class. Bethany, Bonnie, Jennifer and Cloudia are also so good in the school management.

Fox World: Disclaimer: This is not my entire review. This is only part 1. I recently paid this organization $200 to take their Spanish proficiency exams(speaking, listening, reading, and writing). I have independently studied and spoken Spanish for almost 5 years now. I have taken 2 Spanish 1 courses. One for Freshman high school and the other for Freshman college. I received an A for both of these Courses. One of the stipulations to take the Spanish 1 course in college was to pass a Spanish Placement test and I scored off the charts. The highest class they had was Spanish 4 but the only class that was availible was Spanish 1 due to lack of enrollment. I already knew I was fluent in Spanish before I took this exam. I also speak multiple other languages, including French, Chinese, Egyptian Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Swahili, Yoruba, Seminole, Samoan, Hebrew, and Brazillian Porteguese. While none of them are as fluent as my Spanish, I am progressing towards this level of fluency and higher. I figured I would get the equivalent of at least a C1 on the CEFR scale for all of the tests I took. I was very unsatisfied with the results I received. I know for a fact that the results of my exams had been altered due to unjustified, ruthless, disgusting hatred, jealousy, and bias towards my Beautiful Rich Brown Skin, my Profundly Deep Rich Brown Eyes, my powerful royal Alkebulanian and Native American ancestery, my strong life giving, Woman gender, my Opulent Muslim Niqab, my genetic and aquired intelligence, my knowledge of other languages, my impeccable Spanish accent, my undeniable fluency, my flawless, coherent, and grammatically correct writing sample of my trip to Mexico, my desire to become an interpreter,my logical views on the worthlessness of make up, and my voluntary exit from formal schooling to pursue a 4 test GED rather than waste my precious time and intellect on 4 years of obeying rude, disrespectful unfrofessionals like the ones at ILI treating me as if I am less than then when I am more and will always be. Ever since I dropped out of highschool with a 4.33 GPA with Extra, Honors, and College credits, due to the utter lack of respect I had been receiving for years, I have been avoiding school settings. Every time I go back to one, I am reminded of why I left. Why I wake up every morning whenever I want to.Why I study what I love, not what I'm forced to. Why I live with and take care of the people that I love, not who I'm forced to sit in a classroom with. I am always so glad that I left the rat race when I did. Due to the inheret bussiness of my life, I wasn't actually planning on writing a review at first eventhough I knew she lied about my results. But when she had the audacity to send me an email in reference to my Spanish writing with a document attached to so called help me with my Spanish learning, I immeaditey decided that I had to write this review to combat the additonal blatant disrespect. I never even opened the document because I already know I need no such help conveying my thoughts in Spanish. She gave me the lowest level on Spanish writing when she knew I deserved a much higher level so she used the email and attachment to validate her lie. The only problem with my writing was a complete lack of accents, but I asked her before writing how to format the accents in Zoom and she said not to worry about them and that she'd imagine that they were there. It amuses me that she sent me an email after the fact pretending to provide resources for my supposedly poor Spanish writing skills when I was in the Zoom interview listening to her sigh loudly multiple times with an impatient look 4 minutes in to my paragraph. If you so called cared so much, then why did you sigh like I was wasting your time? That was extremely rude and highly unproffesional behavior for an instructor to exhibit in the presence of a student. This was in addition to disapproving and condescending looks and tones.

Faith Macpherson: The classes are the perfect amount of homework to class work for someone with a full time job and not too many hours to spare. The teacher is good at continuing to use the language when giving instructions and explanations, only swapping out to English when necessary. Only criticism is that I wish there could be a placement exam as levels differ greatly within a class and the guidelines aren't very helpful. Have enjoyed classes so far and would consider continuing to next levels.

Romain Devaux: I would not recommend Hindi classes. The teacher is really nice but is just not a teacher (and I am a language teacher, I can tell). No instructive approach, no teaching material but her book she followed to the letter. She kept distressing, reading chapters after chapters without taking the time to let us actually use the language. My advise - ask for a trial course to get to know the teacher before making any commitment to that school.

Leslie Shah: I really liked the International Language Institute (ILI). ILI has clear rules and expectations of teachers, staff, and students. There is a high degree of client customer service, respect and trust. ILI wants and works for student success. They offer and do as they so they do. Testing and Assessment are routine and part of progression.

Chaleeya Sri-intaranan: I had an appointment there to meet with the director name Fredrick! I really want to go to school but I have my visa situation (change of status) especially curently visa situation in the immigration is really bad and take so long. (But I have a Lawer on my side) Anyway, the way he looked at me and talked to me like I’m fresh from the boat!! And he said I’m just trying to get the visa just for staying in America !!! Not for studying!!!!!!!! I can’t believe that I heard that word from a school director!!! That’s unprofessional, but now I got acceptance from the other schools already. I definitely not recommend this school !! They should have talked to applicants better more polite and more Professional!!!
Response: I'm very sorry to hear that you feel like you were not treated fairly and professionally. That was certainly not my intention. As I explained to you when we had our meeting, your case is very complicated. Not only were you already here in the U.S. as an au-pair for two years, but you also have two B1/B2 visitor change of status applications pending for almost a full year. If you now file change of status application to be an F1 student you would have to file another B1/B2 extension application without even having a decision on your pending applications. I'm not an immigration attorney, but I'm not sure this is even possible. We have never had a case like this in my 16 years as director of ILI. As I also explained to you, if you want to be a student it would be a lot easier and quicker to travel back to your country and apply for the student visa from there. It is currently taking about one year to get a response on change of status applications. However, you stated you really wanted to stay here and wait another year to begin your studies if approved. I respectfully informed you that we are unfortunately not willing to accept your application due to the complicated nature of it, but you insisted that we should still help you. I wish you the best with your application and future plans of being a student in the U.S.

Sharon Borton: I've been at ILI for 2 years this summer and, have progressed quickly because the instructors are patient and non-judgmental, the classes are small (4-6) so there is a lot of individual attention and a great deal of expected participation and, the language is learned in every medium, i.e., conversational, reading and writing. And, finally, it is a lot of fun to learn another language and finally begin to feel confident about speaking another language. I highly recommend ILI.

Fluent City: what do users think?

Mark Johnston: I had an excellent first experience with Fluent City. My teacher was incredible! He really brought the class to life and had us practicing Spanish constantly throughout class. Our teacher used a number of engaging activities to make the class social. Besides feeling like I really made progress in learning Spanish, I felt like I got to know my classmates and my teacher. Highly recommend!
Response: Thank you so much for your review Mark! We are ecstatic to hear that you enjoyed your class! Keep up the amazing work in Spanish 3 :D - Jess, and the Student Success team

Lauren P: I loved taking classes through fluent city!! They are conveniently located near the metro in downtown DC. My teacher was great! (Thanks Ramiro!) Class size was small so it was a more personal feel. Would (and have) recommend this course to my friends!
Response: Lauren, we are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your class with Ramiro! Gracias for joining us on your path toward Spanish fluency!

Chris Pabon: Fluent City is the way to go to learn a new language. Modern classrooms, small class size, located across from Metro Center. Very reasonable class times. I have taken classes at USDA and Goethe, and feel that Fluent City has provided me with the best overall learning experience.

Matt A.: This place is not "bad", however I wouldn't recommend choosing this venue if you are serious about learning and becoming fluent in any language offered here. I work as an interpreter, so I can strongly say the once per week approach is only practical for a refresher course if you want to polish your skills for a vacation or leisure but NOT for fluency. I'd only suggest this as a way to get your feet wet. Make sure you read the policy for this business as well as others. If you see a "no money back under any circumstances" I would encourage you to look else where because it shows the business priority is monetary and not to provide a service to the patrons of the business. I would recommend GW or hiring a private tutor if you're seriously intent to commit to what it takes to learning a language fluently. Hope this helps someone make a smart decision as far as investing their time and money. Good luck folks!

Robert Stanton: Half way through my level 2 course and things have been great. Usually the instructor speaks English for the first 10 mins or so just to go over what we'll be covering or to answer any questions from the previous week. They rest of the class is in Spanish. It's really helped me get over my hesitation to speak the language.

Amenaua Foy: Class was excellent. Instructor made the material relevant and fun while getting into the nuances of French. The location was not desirable as downtown D.C. at 1830 is a challenge to navigate/park.

Reed Muhra: This review is NOT for students... it is for teachers trying to find a job at this school. I applied for a PT teaching job at this school; I was asked to send a short video introducing myself then was transferred to a hiring manager in NYC, or I should say the only hiring manager. This person apparently has a hectic daily schedule, but insists to do all the interviews by himself- the interview was supposed to be via one of the social media platforms- first appointment he did not show up at all with no explanation whatsoever, he did not even send an email to apologize for mot showing up. I sent him an email, he apologized and gave another appointment; this time he showed up after about 45 minutes- I was already gone. Again, as if nothing happened- he did not even send an explanation, not even acknowledgement! I sent another detailed email... Simply and to sum up- if is the most unprofessional language school I have experienced!
Response: Reed, I am sorry to hear about your experience applying for a position as a teacher. We're growing quickly, but strive for a high level of communication. Our Hiring Manager will be contacting you today to address these concerns!

Vitória Lima de Moraes: Overall good. I would recommend, but would ask if the professor will be able to teach all ten classes. In my class, I had three different professors, and that turned out to be inefficient. No one to blame, these things happen, but I would just make sure of that.

LuAnne Patrick: A wonderful learning experience. I think the materials are the best of any program that I looked at. The teachers are wonderful and friendly do a great job of teaching adults.

San-Eou Lan: I'm not really good at learning new languages, but I definitely learned a lot better from Fluent City than from any language classes in undergrad or even grad school

Berlitz Tysons Corner Language Center at Regus: what do users think?

Julie Harvey: I took private Spanish lessons to help with professional development. With my ever-changing work schedule, they were very accommodating in adjusting my schedule and even offered lessons online when I was not able to make it to the learning center. The instructors adapted the lessons to my language needs and I am now more confident in using Spanish to improve working relationships. Thank you Berlitz!

Julia Bergan: I came with zero experience and had a wonderful teacher who encouraged me and was patient and fun.The admin staff was always friendly and helpful. The center was clean and I liked the overall atmosphere. Can definitely recommend this language center!

Ridma Kamal: Awesome Work Environment, Great teachers from different parts of the world, very rich culturally enticing atmosphere. Students who study here always want to come back just to be part of this family.

mamdouh abu ghanam: The worst center ever, bad sales, no one answers, even if you go there they don’t have any information

FAHAD ALDUBAYAN: I took a course back in 2000It was a nice experience, lots of memories

Diplomatic Language Services: what do users think?

Aicha Bensaid: I have been working for DLS, as a Foreign Language Instructor for the past 8 years and I have enjoyed being part of their instructors team and have had a good professional experience so far. The Management team including our Language Training Supervisors (LTS) are all very professional, diplomatic and treat their employees with respect and kindness. We continuously receive recognition and support from our Managers. I can only speak highly of DLS and will recommend it to anyone who is aiming to learn any Foreign language in the best possible and effective way!

Luis Chavez: Ustada Amal made it all worth it. On-line instruction is all around but she IS the course. Great knowledge, professionalism, punctual, and cares about her students. Thank you!

PeiHsuan Chiang: Chinese language teacher has strong political biases. She berated/yelled at the student for using a different dialect of Mandarin and barely came to her private class prepared. Unprofessional and patronizing to students. You should vet your chinese teachers and see if they are Chinese communist party members before hiring them to teach your future diplomats! Bad experience about one one one classes during COVID-19. Probably the teachers are more disciplined in person but slacking online? Doesn’t worth the money when the teacher basically picked a news article and asked you to read it out loud for 3 hours (didn’t edit the article at all therefore I said the teacher isn’t prepared for the class) Any native speaker can teach in this style. The teaching quality is AWFUL. Beware! After talking to the agency, apparently the teacher they hired did not have a teaching background. They hired her because she speaks the language.
Response: We are saddened to hear this feedback and take this very seriously. However, we are unable to find a record for you as a previous student of DLS in our system. Could you provide more information so that we may address this concern - what year did you study with us, and who was your instructor? It is our priority to remedy any discontentment from our community. Without knowing who the instructor is, we cannot address this properly. To look into this directly, please contact us at care@dlsdc.com with important details such as student and instructor name. If they would prefer to keep anonymity, please contact our HR hotline at 855-449-0417. We take resolving this issue very seriously and look forward to hearing back from you.

Malik Siraj Akbar: I have had the pleasure to work with DLS as a curriculum developer. The staff is extremely professional and supportive. I would highly recommend them to people interested in foreign languages. They are very closely located outside the Rosslyn metro station in Arlington, Virginia.

VPlatium: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueI had one of the greatest instructor for Spanish language. DLS was always professional and very attentive to my needs. I recommend them highly.

Fery Farsi: The only both student and instructor friendly language school in DMV area I have taught at. If you plan on learning a language long term , DLS is the only school you can afford to choose.

Anna Byers: Did not work over there for a long time, but liked the manual : excellent idea, HR..and previous receptionists :very proper and friendly, supervisor was knowledgeable...positive memories from the short period of time..Not sure what's going on with D LS now..I am using its manual until today, thank you for such a great work...

Ebony Marafa: The most unprofessional, unorganized and disrespectful institution I have ever tried to work with. They emailed and offered a position with start date and then asked to go to their office, which is about 30 miles from my home. I went only to learn that the position has been filled.
Response: We are sorry to hear you felt your experience with DLS was negative. We do our best to keep everyone – instructors, students, staff, clients – informed and pleased with the services provided, so we take your discontentment seriously. We do realize that the temporary position about which you were first contacted was filled before you came to our office for an interview, and we apologize for not informing you of that beforehand. However, as we anticipate other, relevant opportunities arising in the near future, we felt it was still prudent for you to meet with your Language Training Supervisor. It is common practice – at least at DLS and other schools we are familiar with – for LTS’s to meet with instructors prior to giving them a first class. This ensures that the instructor is comfortable with the environment, it allows the LTS to gauge which students the instructor would best mesh with, and it allows the instructor and LTS to get to know each other. We do stand by this practice, as we find it makes our teachers feel like a part of the bigger DLS team, but we also recognize that it was not a practice that worked for you. And for that, we sincerely apologize!

Ibrat Usmanov: Best company! Professional Management! Great Staff! It is a pleasure to work with such great professionals!

Veronica Rivero: The place that speaks the languages of the world. #DLS

Washington English Center: what do users think?

sebastien salcedo: I think it's a big deal. The teachers work for free, they have 3 employees who are in charge of hundreds of students. The online system is very deficient, almost at the end of the course the person in charge connected to explain how to use the code of the books????. Some teachers are very good others are not but as they work for free there is no option to do anything. In the zoom chat explain that we are at level 2, you have to use simple words, speak slowly and articulate the words......

Annie Prusky: Positive: Professionalism, ValueI have been a volunteer at WEC for several years; this is a truly community-oriented organization that provides excellent education with care.

Alejandro Rizo: It is a very good institute and I recommend it.
