The District Fishwife: what do users think?

Taquasha Redfield: Salmon Donbooboo… very disturbing once I arrived home to this as dinner. Makes me regret leaving a tip. My boyfriend’s salmon burger was also not appetizing. I’ve had the salmon cheesesteak before and was eager to try more items but I think we definitely will move on at this point. Best option is the fries. So disappointing!!

Dave Anderson: Fries are the real winner... the oyster Po-Boy was pretty meager, really small oysters compared to what's in the fresh case... it was tasty. But the oysters were non present in proportion to the rest of the sandwich and for the price.

Kelly M.: I’m obsessed with their salmon burger and their fries. I also recently bought their sushi grade tuna and salmon so that my husband and I could make our own sushi at home, and it was delicious.

Hiroko Matsuyama: Yum! I got the daily special- fried oyster poboy and a side of fries. Staff was friendly, food was delicious, and it came out quickly! Loved the sauce & the pickles that came on the sandwich. These guys are inside Union Market where there is plenty of outdoor seating. They also sell fresh seafood too!
Response: Thanks Hiroko, we are so glad you enjoyed your meal with us. Hope you come back soon!

Hui Min Cao: Made poke bowls at home with the salmon and seaweed salad I got here, which reduced the total cost of a very filling and healthy bowl to less than $10. I need to do this more often! Note that the cashier suggested finishing the salmon within 2-3 days.

Ronald Gravitz: We came here after visiting the Postal Museum, based on its menu. Lunch was delicious and reasonably priced. We had the tuna poke and the shrimp po’boy. Highly recommend.

Fatima Mansaray: Fire time trying and it wasn’t tasty at all. I tried the shrimp taco, fish taco and dog fish w/fries and coleslaw. Literally everything was bland, not a hint of seasoning not even salt. The coleslaw was sour and not good at all. Literally the only ok thing were the fries. Paid $30 for lackluster food. I won’t return again.

Sandi G in DC: Superb fish and chips..tender, juicy, crisp and so fresh. They really deserve the props for this dish....the tartar sauce is like heaven, but those chips are the BEST EVER only thing better is knowing I am can come back for more!😋😉👌🏽
Response: Thank you Sandi! We look forward to when you come back!! :)

d adams: I tried the salmon donbori bowl. It was okay, but a little dry with no sauce. Just 2 pieces of salmon, some other stuff and white rice. I am giving 5 stars because it's a unique shop and I bet the fish tacos are good, next time!

Frances Whalen: Wanted to support local businesses..I am really impressed. Had a great selection of seafood/fish. Will come back. Had Shrimp pupusas, great! Surprisingly best part was the pickled slaw. Am now a huge fan!!

The Market at Ivy City Smokehouse: what do users think?

brian madeley: Learned about this place recently dining at a friend's house. Found ourselves in the area and stopped in. Gator (manager) welcomed us with open arms. He is full of energy, passionate about the products, and even gave us a taste. Very knowledgeable guy and this place is worth a visit. We look forward to visiting again next time fish is on the menu!

Jason LaGarde (stefien): Went in to get some sushi grade fish and the man there was extremely helpful and patient with me as I had no idea what I was doing. Will definitely return for my future fish monger needs

Nicholas Devine: I bought a pound of sashimi grade yellowfin tuna yesterday to make a ginger shoyu poke bowl. Not only was the customer service incredible, the fish was superb! I sliced the bloodline wafer thin and dipped it in soy sauce as an appetizer. Having eaten fresh ahi regularly in Hawaii for a couple years, my palette has become very selective, and this was by far, the best sashimi Ive had since moving to DC two years ago. You guys are the real deal!

E Harrison: Service was great, clean, fast, the Manager was very Informative about what to look for in freshness for fish and other seafood and Smoked Chicken and ribs, that I purchased. I will be going back and plan on being a regular customer.

B Ford: I HIGHLY recommend this place. They are open 7 days a week. I've never had any thing bad from them and their prices are on par with other fresh seafood places in the area. The people that work there are friendly and knowledgeable. They don't keep a lot of seafood on display to preserve freshness, but I guarantee they have it. Try them!!

Stafford Ritchie: Risky. The two women behind the counter aren't covering their mouth and nose with a mask, wearing their mask over the chin instead. The woman at the register vigorously wiped her exposed nose on her finger before handling my food. I won't be going back to the Market, will try profish.com instead.

Nancy Bates: Super knowledgeable and friendly staff. The salmon candy is made in house and addictive! This is my go to place for fresh oysters.

Linda Brolis: Gator, the manager of the fish market, is super knowledgeable and always goes above and beyond! Definitely recommend.

Hagai M: Just what you need when you are looking for sorts or special seafood and fish options, with knowledgable fishmongers and great price point.

Harry Newson: My mistake I loved it was 16 of us.Everything was wonderful. I highly recommend this place.

Captain White Seafood City: what do users think?

Best D: New location doesn’t have steamers yet.. Father’s Day they said they should have it. As a person of color, Asian and an ally, I have received bad treatment from the dc wharf location, and I knew coming in it was going to be hard dealing with the sellers. But I really want to change this stigma. If not from them from me. I stopped going there altogether and wanted to give them another chance at the new location. Asking prices doesn’t mean we are cheap. And some people actually prefer female crabs over male crabs!! But our cookout calls for catering to all various shades of people and genders- male crabs. (Happy pride month!! Androgynous crabs too!) To the sellers! Please do not make an ugly face when people ask for prices. And I hope tipping becomes more common with Asians but I do tip, so don’t generalize. If we just had consistently nice treatment as human to human, it would be more pleasant, nay, enjoyable to support local business. If we are cheap, same could be said about captain white leaving their lease at the wharf. Also know your target market. I’m sure you moved to PG county for a reason! If you are just nice and treat everyone with the same respect, rich looking, poor looking, whatever the f, I would come buy crabs every weekend in season. I call ahead cause I sound American, my American brother in law always get good prices calling ahead, I get there I ask for the prices suddenly it’s huge gap, I won’t say cause market prices fluctuate. It was completely reasonable for a customer to ask, even if someone asks to see size the crabs it’s within reason. No one likes to feel like they are getting ripped off, and I have been constantly ripped off, trying to support such business even when I come thru and engage nicely it’s just sad how we treat each other and we expect and demand to be treated better. Golden rule: treat other people the way you want to be treated..

Sunil Prajapati: Best place to buy fresh fish , crabs and seafood. They have raw and cooked seafood. A lot of variety of crabs and fresh water fish. They have place to cook the crabs and clean the fish. Usually very busy and can be hard to find parking , but private parking available. A lot of seafood restaurants around as well. Also very strong smell of fish and seafood. Must visit if you are in the area.

Karimah “Remi” B.: My experience was good. Not at all like some of these reviews. I actually question their validity. Anyway, food was clearly marked and clearly priced. No need to haggle because the prices were cheaper than the regular grocery store (and the seafood is fresh, not frozen). I do wish that all of the seafood advertised on the website was in stock. Maybe the wholesale cost would have been too high... I really wanted oysters though. All that was available to purchase was crab bushels (whole crabs), boxes of crab legs, and four varieties of shrimp. Also, the smell of seafood wasn't overpowering like some places. It helps that the market is outdoors. This is my new favorite spot when I come through on 95. I look forward to my next visit.

lorena S: A must stop place in DC. What I would call local food, everything seems fresh and it’s cooked in the moment. Place smells like sea food as you may expect and captains white cooked food is in the back, fresh sea food in the front(did you see the size of those shrimps!!) We all enjoyed our crab cakes, shrimp, Mac n cheese, corn, potato wedges, lemonade. the area has changed a lot in the last few years, there’s lots of expensive hotels/restaurants, bars, people watching, etc. it’s not cheap and the lines can get long and they don’t have enough people (not their fault) but it’s definitely worth the wait and money. We will continue to return whenever we are in the DC wharf.

Karla Sanchez: Great to eat fresh seafood. We travel from NJ to eat great food and have a great time. People that work there are very kind and friendly.. I recommend to anyone that wants to visit.

Laura Alexandra (Lulu): The fresh fish market side looks really good, but the “cooked food” area is overpriced and not good at all. This is a picture of a crab cake. It comes with one side and packaged sauces (tar-tar and ketchup) that are not tasty at all. The crab cake itself was a bit soggy inside too. There are no chairs or anything and the wait is also pretty long. If you can cook your own sea food definitely recommend the shop, but if you are a tourist wanting to experience the food, this is not the right place.

anthony danks: There is parking but you pay. Its convient Its not cheap but its fresh and the guys work hard and have a sense of humour. Service is fast. Stores float in the river. Very clean. Near buy i had some fish filed. It use to be possible to get it cooked and french fries but they dont do it any more. You can get crabs steamed.

Devon Mungro: Captain White, I am extremely disappointed. The crabs are very small and have no meat. The mediums are really small and should be sold as small. It seems as if they are trying to sell small crabs at the price that the large ones would be. I purchased a half of bushel, Over half of them went in the trash because we did not want to waste time trying to pick these baby crabs that had no meat, I will stick with the crab legs at Giant and Safeway in the seafood department, they are always nice size. Captain White has lost me and my family as a customer. I would not recommend them to others.

Darrett Gorham: Had a taste for seafood and wow this place had it all a one stop shop brought it home to cook sitting back listening to some good music and enjoying the seafood

Angela Huyghue: This boat used to dock at the Nation's Capital The Wharf! We miss them! And I am proud that they housed in a new environment close to home to deliver the best blue crabs 🦀 in the DMV!

Municipal Fish Market at The Wharf: what do users think?

Shriya Amit: Though I miss Captain White’s Seafood place, it’s still a great visit to the Fish Market at The Wharf. Since the time we started eating raw oysters, we visit this place quite often and have oysters shucked right in front of your eyes. Miss the mango lemonade from Captain White and the waterfront seating area where we used to enjoy having crab legs. Shoutout to the guy in red who was so amazing & was putting in so much effort looking for the right oyster.

* dnainsb: Great place to get fresh crab and seafood! Some of the stalls will steam the crab for you. There's another stall that will shuck the oysters you buy for you and there are some stalls that sell fresh fish for you to cook at home. The whole area doesn't smell fishy and is clean and well kept all of the stall owners obviously have pride in their product.

Cheryl J: Not as robust as it was the last time I was here but the freshness of the seafood is still the best around. In addition you now have options of various restaurants and parking garages. Gentrification has definitely taken hold of this location with apartments units on the wharf that includes parking. New places to ventures in addition to getting your fresh seafood options to take home. Fish, shrimp, octopus, scallop, lobster, and of course the variety of crabs…crabs in abundance. Live blue crabs, crab legs, Dungeness crabs and the list goes on…by the pound, bushel or case; whatever your pocket can afford is available.

Edward Amartey-Tagoe: Went to Hank’s and Chopsmith for dinner. We also went through the sea food stalls to see the variety of fresh sea food they served. I will come back to get some fresh tilapia and shrimps for home cooking. Definitely worth a visit if you are visiting DC or live here. Parking could be hard to find, so consider using public transport.

Hilda Kroll: Worth a visit even if you're not buying anything. If you do want fresh fish or seafood and you don't live nearby and parking is a problem, the neighborhood shuttle runs every ten or fifteen minutes and is a short ride to the Metro.

JAM Esteban: Beware when you buy cook crabs. Some are old and light. Even we ask for all female crabs they put more than 8 male out of 2 dozen.

A V: Super fresh and tasty seafood. Raw to take home of cooked to eat there.

Juan Garcia: Amazing seafood. Served off the pier.Wait is short during the morning...and about 20 mins during rush hour.

Devonne Knight: The crabs I got were quite meaty. 👌🏽 The service on the uncooked side was really fast. The oyster guy was a bit rude but the oysters received were superb. You'll definitely get great value for your money.

Angus Bennion: The fresh seafood looked great, the hot food we got were ok (crab cakes and Maryland crab soup).

BlackSalt: what do users think?

Anna S: Always delectable! I have been to BlackSalt on many occasions, and the service is always fantastic. This visit was no different from my previous visits. It is the experience you expect with fine dining. From the oysters, to my entree of red snapper with truffle sauce, the food could not have been better! (And I didn’t think I would like the truffle sauce at all! I was so glad I was wrong.) I will, of course, be back again.

JustHereForTheKarma: This was hands down the best seafood I've had in the metro area, it's pricey, but definitely worth it. Only downside was the waiter service was next to non-existent, but the was only one waiter for a while, so that can be forgiven. The folks cleaning up the tables were super fast though, so it was more a matter of putting the order in and dessert ordering. Still worth it.

Christina: Wonderful seafood place! Fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked. We’re just visiting from overseas but would definitely come back if we lived in the area.

Joyce Y: First day in DC , we were hungry and excited to try this place. The oyster selection is good and I would come for oysters alone! The dishes are decent too but my seabass tasted very different from any other seabass I’ve had. The texture was so firm that I felt it was a disappointment. We didn’t like the menu selection for the entree but they pretty much did whatever fish my kids asked for, very flexible with us.

cesarnews4: Customer service at its best. This place has it all. Amazing food, great atmosphere, attention to detail, clean and cozy. My wife loves this place. I made a reservation for her birthday. The restaurant printed out a special menu with the date and a line saying “happy birthday” for our table .. Customized menus for us. How special is that??? After COVID many restaurants lost customer service , attention to detail. It seems like most restaurants are running short staff and it shows on the service level. NOT BLACKSALT This place has it together. Another example. When they brought our food, the ladies on the table get their plate 1st , then everyone else after. We noticed those details. That’s why they deserve 5 starts . Simply put, quality with taste. I highly recommend it . Plus the food is amazing

A. Manka: Well executed food with great flavor! Also received teamwork approach who met our needs and made our experience smooth and relaxing. We have been coming for years.

Meme Smith: It was nice last min plan, first time having Caviar. Would had been nice to know the key notes of the Caviar before I had ordered....the drink was not great I had ordered Cocgnac cocktail that was ruined with a lemon. But over all it was nice I would try it again

David Hosey: Friendly atmosphere. Food was decent but the petit tower wasn’t as fresh as we would have hoped. Overall good experience

Floyd Le Vere II: Best tuna I ever had in my 42 years. Who knew peanut sauce went with mangos and noodles?? Dear God, praise this place, and me, so I can come BACK!

Steve O: The host was great and our waitress started off as a little cold but, then we found out she was the only one there. The calamari was Grrrreeeeaaaattt, especially the bread it was served on

Jessie Taylor Seafood: what do users think?

Paul LaVigne: If I lived anywhere near the wharf in Washington DC, I would definitely come here for all of my seafood shopping. Amazing selection of obviously fresh seafood. Additionally the fishmongers there are delightful and super willing to help you with your selections.

Chanpen Tee: We get the streamed crab here. Crabs are fresh. It takes about 35 -45 minutes for steaming. It depends on how busy they are. The also sell all kinds of seafood such as fish, clam, shrimp etc. The parking is a bit difficult on the weekend.

Damien Goines: Small crabs. They give you old black crabs. Called in half dozen Medium females. This is there Medium females. $50/half dozen female. Don’t go here. Very disappointed

Steve “Steevo” Morrison: Wow!!!!! Just Wow! What a selection! I had nowhere to cook anything, so I grabbed a cooked Maine Lobster and zipped back to my hotel on my scooter. Just tore it apart by hand and it was absolutely delicious!!!! Best money spent today!!!

Barry Yen: Fresh and delicious, but we bought six crab and after they cooked and putted in the bag, we found only five crabs when we left there

Ian N.: It was an interesting experience, tasted fresh but the people were not extremely friendly. The food was not super amazing either but it was seafood.

May Zhan: Bought a dozen large Male for $55, and cooked at home. Very disappointed with their quality.

I SLAY ALL DAY TRAVEL The Solo Traveler: Born and raised in Washington, DC and stepped away from the city for a while… little would I know the wharf is not the same. They moved some of the fishing boats to the harbor. Wow. I ❤️ my city!!!

JOANN PARKER: I telephoned Jessie Taylor Seafood this morning 06/16/22 and I spoke to Dana. She told me that she was the owners wife and she was so nice and polite to me. I called and asked her questions about the prices for their Alaskan king Crab Legs. And she told me about the 2 different sizes Large and Jumbo 5pound box & 10pound box.So I decided too drive over there from Arlington, VA and see what they look like and meet Dana in person. So when my fiancée and I arrived there I asked to speak to Dana. She came out from her back office and I introduced myself as JOANN. Then Dana said I remember speaking to you this morning.I said yes that was me I just wanted to meet the very nice lady that I spoke to on the telephone. And I came to see what size Alaskan king Crab Legs are the biggest and the Best Buy.And what they look like. So Dana said I’ll let him show you them so you can decide it was nice meeting you. So we looked at them and decided to get the Jumbo Alaskan king crab Legs for $215.00 which I think was a very good price. And I’ll be back ! Because of her kindness to me and respect and the price. Thank U ! I’ll Be Back Again !

Stephen Perry: These guys always treat us right. Hot crabs and shrimp, everything perfect for spreading out newspaper and having at it.

Fishery Seafood Market: what do users think?

ll Porter: This place is wondeful. Always fresh fish, great slection. There are fresh veggies, good pasta, etc so you can skip the grocery store for dinner. Best crab cakes in town. Nice famuky who owns an ru dinner

M planetmike: Wonderful local sea food shop. Fresh as always! Buy your oysters here. My only wish is they sold unagi. They also offer many dry goods like pasta and rice. Some basic Asian sauces can also be found here like soy sauce, fish sauce, and oyster sauce.

Sam Maruca: We absolutely love this market!! The fish offerings are varied and fresh. We frequently buy multiple dinners worth and freeze some for later, and for weeks it is still excellent. There is always a good variety of fresh veggies and other ingredients so it's a one stop shop. Whether risotto with leeks or swordfish with broccolini, you can procure it here. Together with a range of delicious starters.

Jim Higgins: Superb quality of the seafood merits the high prices, but I ding Fishery a star because of the pricing of their non-seafood items. I was shocked to find I'd paid $6 for a bundle of dill (whose price wasn't listed on the shelf) that would've cost less than half that anywhere else. Such gouging leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and makes me less likely to go back so quickly.

Lanning Moldauer: The fish here is the very freshest, the prices high but it's a small shop with personal service and a superb, very wisely chosen selection of other foods that will tempt you. No more Whole Foods where we've several times gotten fish that wasn't edible. Excellent crab cakes as well as fish salads such as squid, whitefish spread, great cooked and uncooked shrimp, fish clearly marked as farm or wild, many other good things, zip complaints.

Kitchen Boy: This is a great seafood market. The fish and seafood is fresh and good quality. They cut it any way you want and are very knowledgeable. The market has a good selection of dry goods and pasta seasonings, even some cooking tools and a few fresh vegetables. Never had a bad experience.

TheDarkChemist: A conveniently located shop to obtain fresh seafood, The Fishery - being a pretty small storefront - has a decent selection of seafood, and an unexpectedly large variety of other grocery items (veggies, rice, spices, etc.). The prices of the seafood seem to be pretty fair and comparable to most large grocery chains, which is nice. While larger stores might have a somewhat more expansive selection seafood-wise, it's nice to see a free-standing seafood shop these days (large chains have undoubtedly withered their numbers down). Overall, if you're in the area and looking for fresh seafood, check out The Fishery and support a friendly, locally-owned business.

William Lewis: If you’re looking for a great place to pick up some fresh seafood look no further, their selection of fish is always fresh and the staff is always friendly and very helpful. The crab cakes that Sue makes are the best I’ve ever had, give them a try, you won’t be disappointed. William Lewis

Michael DiDomenico: I tried this place when staying with a friend who lives nearby. I get whole fresh fish every week, so it's not a novelty for me. I was surprised how much prices were marked up here given pretty common fish that you can get fresh other places. I usually get my fish from whole foods or the wharf. Both are much better options at better prices.

Scott Pearson: Fresh and very high quality fish selection complemented by a small well-curated gourmet grocery and produce store.

Tropical Lagoon Aquarium: what do users think?

Jan: Not just a great variety of fresh and saltwater fish, also shrimp, crabs, frogs, coral. They seem to be in good health, fed premium food (I watched), and well-displayed. Tanks aren't over full, and tank sizes fit the fish, including several gorgeous giant tanks. Enjoyed an hour there despite only getting a few fancy shrimp and some endlers, which have been healthy and happy. Staff was helpful and super gentle with my fish. Definitely returning to set up my next community tank. Best fish store near DC.

Melissa Luke: This shop is just over any hour away from me, and I was reluctant initially to make the trip. But wow, was it ever worth it! Their tanks appear well kept and the fish look healthy. I picked up about 7 cichlids and they are all doing well! The staff was extremely nice and helped me identify some species I couldn’t make out. They had unique varieties that I hadn’t come across before, and that was a really nice surprise. I’m already looking forward to my next trip! (Bring change so you can feed the parking meter 🙃)

Christopher M: Without a doubt the best fish store I've ever been to. In terms of the practical matters - the prices are very good, especially for the auxillary items like airline tubing or gravel or decorations, and of course the fish. The fish plants and inverts have all been in good health, no disease or anything, which unfortunately I've run into from other local shops. But more importantly, you really get a good dynamic with the people at Tropical Lagoon, they love to help and give good sound advice. You can look up anything online but experience is worth more than any reddit post, and miles ahead of what you'll get at PetSmart/Petco. Steve knows what to do in pretty much every situation, and he'll figure out how to get things sorted, he's unbelievably knowledgeable and personable. I was thumbing through a magazine by the counter and he not only let me take it, he gave me a brand new sealed copy on nano fish to take home. Two weeks later I asked if he had celestial pearl danios and he remembered that the CPD was on the cover of the magazine he gave me. Really an unbelievably great guy, can't be more happy with the place. Thank you for everything you do and provide. It's such a cool spot, I'm always excited to go back and see what's swimming about :) - CM
Response: Thanks!

carolyn jackson: I love this place. My son n I was there on Wed. We called 1 wk ago we call the store and talk to Dustin. We talk about a on going water problem n the fish tank. He walk us through the problem on the phone to rectified it. He told us to bring everything we have (supplies) and a water sample to the store. We stop n talk to Dustin. The staff is friendly and a delight. Dustin was very helpful, kind, knowledgeable, and perfessional. He did a water test and gave us the supplies we need to fix the problem. My son call him when we got home to ask more questions. He was polite and patience. We was very pleased and happy. 😁

Clara M: Such a friendly atmosphere. Love the shop have been going here for almost 3+ years. Beautiful fish that are actually healthy (unlike most big retail) Small store but so much personality. Always used come here for my crickets and mice. Still come for the fish. Staff are so helpful and welcoming, they always remember faces. Can't think of anything to complain about. Staff are also very quick to help you out can't think of a time where I had to wait over 2 mins or so. They practically have everything and a very cute tortoise in the back during the winter. Will always recommend this store to friends with new reptiles, amphibians, etc for feeders. Just remember not to sit in Lucas' Chair :)))

Keith El Grande: Really interesting fish store. There have a great selection of fish both fresh and salt water. Customer service could be better, however I really enjoyed the varieties of fish and products.

Bricks: Just got stocked up with everything I wanted. Really nice new purple clean rock, 4 corals, 3 fish, frozen food, and 10 gallons of the magic store water. Really cool store!

Chloe Flowers: I stop here occasionally to pick live plants and other materials for my fire bellied toad paludarium. The plants are always healthy and the livestock in my paludarium enjoy the plants I get from here. The only fish I’ve ever gotten from here were some cherry shrimp who were healthy and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and gives fantastic advice about everything you purchase here. I’m not super knowledgeable on fish, but they carry some beautiful little guys along with axolotls, tadpoles, and various pond fish. If you’re new to the hobby or have been doing the aquarium hobby for years, this is probably the best place to go in the DMV area.

K MeiLee Dozier: My daughter and I actually get a kick reading the bad reviews of this place. Someone complained about humidity...really?? Others seem to be disappointed that their emotional needs aren't met by the service.... perhaps these folks got lost? This is a family owned fish store that's been in our neighborhood for-EVER, which speaks for itself. They painted an army of bright orange Nemos all over their entryway so you can find it under the church - where else can you find fish next to Godliness? Or shop for tetras among well loved family pups and a giant turtle? If you want a colorless, odorless, sterile, Big Box Store experience or need counseling services, you may want to go elsewhere. If you would like bottomless patience from super nice, young fish enthusiasts willing to answer your noobie questions hired by honest, legit, no-nonsense store owners who offer great advice and manage to stock an innocuous underground space with everything you could possibly need for your aquarium at competitive prices, then you've come to the right place.
Response: Thank you so much. That was awesome

David Garcia: This is an awesome tropical fish and aquarium store. It has 100 aquariums of topical marine animals. It also has four walls of diverse aquarium supplies. The store worker is very friendly.

Shrimp Boat Plaza: what do users think?

Lady J: The greens are excellent, the potato salad was on point, and the ribs nice and tender. Overall the food was absolutely excellent ‼️. I would purchase again.
Response: Hi Lady j Thank you for your great support. Thanks again

Cassie: Ordered two meals and the flavors were immaculate😩 Lo-mien was so good

Jamilla: Honestly guys… palms face** how could anyone eat here?? This is not soul food. I am trying to be as polite as possible . But Jesus Christ! There is no way this restaurant/bodega passed an inspection. No way at all. I literally wanted to puke just walking in. I gave this place 2 stars because the staff is friendly. But if you are looking for soul food how in the world would you end up here??? THIS IS NOT A SOUL FOOD RESTAURANT! As for my friend who suggested this place to me. If I never see his face or this restaurant again it will be too soon.

stkmon1: Time says close 9:00 pm they always close 7 to 8 mins before, leaving people outside wanting food. They use to much salt in the food, leaving you with a headache. Myself along with other customers outside we agreed we done. The thrill is over.
Response: Hi I am sorry for what happened on ur experience but we have to close at 9 pm and clean the inside. So please try to came on time so we can serve you. Thanks

Madeline Ferrell: Great 10's across the board. If something is wrong, they will gladly rectify the issue.

Christopher Covington: This place is hit or miss. When you cat h the food fresh it's pretty good but other times its subpar. Also the tea that they sell tastes artificial and synthetic! It's horrible.

LaurieAnn White: I love the PEACH COBBLER!!! Staff is wonderful and friendly. Unfortunately, the location is scary.

T. Dixon: Although they started late, the food is delicious.

Marsha Bass: Shrimp Boat is a DC landmark and food experience. It has Soul Food, The BBQ chicken wings are the best. They sell baked fish, chicken, turkey wings, etc. Anything you could think of. I love their vegetables. The mixed vegetables and the cabbage are my favorite. They sell breakfast throughout the day, It is a popular landmark for Benning Road and East Capital Street. East Capital Street crosses into MD. Shrimp boat also has the outside vendors on the East Capital side during the late spring and summer. It also sits next to the Benning Rosd subway station on the Benning road side of NE.

Mark Butler: Food wasn't good waste money on something that looked good and tasted like.. garbage

Petco: what do users think?

Allison Guy: This Petco might be good for other things, but the conditions their birds are kept in are nightmarish. The parakeets do not have adequate perches of different sizes, any chewing toys, and they are fed on a cheap, unhealthy all-seed diet. I also watched as a woman pried open one of the plexiglass doors and let a budgie escape. As for the parrots, well, have a look at the photo — a tiny enclosure with no opportunity to climb, chew, fly or have social interaction. Same unhealthy seed diet, water bowls full of droppings. Their heads were full of painful pin feathers because they had no bird or human companion to groom them. Imagine sitting on the same perch in a glass box all day with nothing to do, for weeks and months on end. This is absolute torture for such a smart, social animal.

carolyn jackson: My son and I love, love, love this store. We are here every week doing a fish tank water sample test. The manager Donnell in the fish dept. Is very nice, helpful. knowledgeable, and professional. He and the staff are always ready to help you in any way. It a fun store to shop.

Dani Rios: We casually visited this store and left with the best impression. The nice cashier seemed sincerely interested in learning about our puppy and gave us some great tips about the excessive chewing. We regret not asking her name, she was a nice African American lady. Thank you!

Sarah Levine: I did a puppy training class with Jen and she is an excellent trainer. She understands dog behavior and how to use positive training to get results. My puppy started off hating going into the store and by the end she was dragging me in because she was so excited to go to class. I highly recommend taking training classes with Jen.

Courtney: Jill was so helpful and informative—just got a puppy and she helped us find the right cleaning spray for accidents in the house. The store was clean and organized. Will be coming to this Petco in DC from now on!

Wayne HarRell: I would give this location 4 stars. Clean out the dead fish in the tanks. But, the employee who helped me deserves 5 Stars! Miguel was great! He was eager, enthusiastic and knowledgeable! He went out of his way to help with my purchase AND it was 15 minutes before closing! Thanks Miguel!

Michael Johnson: It was a big store and had all pet goods and the sales people are nice

Brian Diem: Shop here all the time for our kitty. The cashier lady is always friendly and making sure we take advantage of all the coupons available. She definitely cares about us and it shows!

Catherine Carter: Some gaps in inventory. I did, though, find what I sought and so much more. The staff is friendly, knowledgable.

Summer Bryant Campell: Mr. Darnell was very knowledgeable and compassionate about the proper living space, food and bedding for the newest addition to our family our guinea pig. You can tell he loves animals and wants the very best for them. Ms. Alexis, who was at the register when we bought our guinea, gave her a check once over and reminded us to check our guinea’s ears, nails and reminded us of possible bald patches that can be caused by ring worm and / or mites. She was also very caring and showed our guinea lots of love. The professionalism, and customer we experience each time we shop at this Petco keeps us coming back.

Fish in the Neighborhood: what do users think?

Lorenzo Holmes: Glad this establishment is still around even with all the fancy changes in the area. Nice to have a taste of real cooking that serves up food that reminds me of grandma's. Fried fish always on point. Simply put, if you're uptown and want to get some good food, can't really go wrong here at all. I didn't even get a chance to post any photos because the food was that bomb. Quick Update, was so good that we had to go back again. This time for fried Catfish and fried Trout. Pictures added from 2nd visit.

Reshawner Benjamin: The owner gives great customer service and the food is quite delicious. We now buy both grilled and fried fish when we go because we can't choose. I'm don't even eat shrimp but theirs are fried so beautifully I had to try them at least once, I was not disappointed. This is definitely one of DC's best hidden treasures and his fish is even fresher than the wharf!

Gary Wiggan: I'm a Cook, living, working, and have fed a plethora of mouths here in the DMV for more than 35 years, I have prepared some the best Seafood for my Family, friends and clients, but, when I don't feel like cooking, and I want the best Seafood around, I go to Fish in the Hood. Always on their Game. A bit pricey, but worth it. Love You Guys!!! 2 Thumbs up!!!!😀

Ruthette Jackson: First you now have to call in or order at window from outside and wait outside as well, then they only except cash which is very inconvenience and not good to be handling cash outside in the area. Way over priced for 3 pieces of fish with mac&cheese, and greens for $24 !!!! The Mac & cheese was very salty and bland with only cheddar cheese dried up through out the Mac. Green was soft but know flavor. I’m saying this to say, not good for business and wasn’t worth the money I paid. Never again ✌🏾

Kevin Sneed: The fish was great and the sides of mac & cheese and greens were good. The cashier was very patient with me when ordering. The only drawback was that you had to pay in cash but this was not a problem for they had a ATM at the establishment.

Gordon Gent: Great neighborhood spot for fresh seafood that you can have fried or broiled. The catfish was great and the onion rings were really good and fresh. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Limited seating and most orders are carry out.

R W: Service was a little confused, my porgi was very poor, although the perch was really good. So I think I try this place out again I received my food and it was undercooked. So I returned it and upon returning the undercooked meal I was met with a very nasty attitude. Will not be returning to this establishment buy at your own risk.

Tanya R: Mango sauce. Never heard of this and it should be bottled and sold:) Whiting and fries were my menu choices and I enjoyed it (with the mango sauce)! Friendly owner and staff. First time customer; won't be my last visit to Fish In the Hood!

Nikki D.: Well first let me just start off by saying, I have been going to Fish n Da Hood since i was working at Howard University, over 15 years. They have been ON point since day one. NOT one time have i ever been unsatisfied. Me and my family trulyyy love this place. Everything is fresh, and fried nice and golden brown. They are so friendly and welcoming when you go there. See you all tomorrow. :)

ViewsMagazine andTV: Ol' Bill. Been eating here for at least close to 20 years and haven't had a bad meal yet. Try the broiled porgy, half pound of broiled shrimp on top with a side of collard greens. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

ProFish Seafood: what do users think?

Silvia Mariani: The best managed wholesale seafood company on the east coast of the United States. Profish also offers home delivery with a variety of delicious prepared and semi-prepared items. Beautiful refrigerated trucks and logos also. They also sell caviar and lobster.

Meredyth Makris: Excellent quality at an amazing price. So glad I found profish. Making restaurant quality meals at home. Most recently, enjoyed the Opah, the stone crab claws and the king crab legs. We’ve had luck with all of the shellfish (at bargain prices, no less) and many of the wild caught fish options. Very highly recommend!!!

Sig Behrens: I see the Profish trucks all the time and know they were a wholesale seafood delivery. But then I heard they were selling $17 lobsters direct to the public so I gave them a chance. It's amazing, you can get large 1.5 large lobsters for $17 and 25 count little neck clams for $6 if you preorder and go to their trucks. Best deal in town! The quality of the seafood was amazing. I will keep coming back.

Dure Kim: Bought two bags of oysters. When i got home and opened the box, realized that they gave me oysters that were harvested a month ago. Ok, i guess some could last if stored properly.. these weren't stored properly. Half were already open, while the other half were dry or smelled fishy when shucked. None could be eaten. I requested a refund by email and have not received a response. Sad!

Larry Lai: Have bought from the delivery truck in our neighborhood. Excellent quality seafood. Friends and I have joined together and tries scallops, lobster, mussels, oysters, and halibut. Hope they keep selling direct to the public!

David Harris: We were able to order fish from here through their website for our home... So so amazing!!!! Really great how they've pivoted during COVID

L W: Thank you Profish for feeding my family during COVID-19 and having pick-up locations to the public. Great quality and service!

Lizzy Molina: GREAT QUALITY SEAFOOD a lot of D.C restaurants I've been to buy from them!

Daniel Obrien: Knowledge staff & great fresh selections

Joseph McNelis: Needs more ketchup

Ivy City Smokehouse: what do users think?

Naturally E: Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to love this place, I couldn't. The food had no seasoning and the drinks were blah. The outside environment has a great vibe! But, everything else was wayyyyy below standards. I wouldn't recommend this place.

D P: This is my first time at this spot. Look it was some good food. The only the Lox and bagel is better at another local place but that's here nor there right now. However the price for the food is amazing. The portion sizes are good enough to fill you up and it had me full. I did try the wings, salmon burger, po boy, and chicken sandwich. This far I'm liking it. So I have to come back for more. The staff was really friendly and the ambience is nice as well. There's a fire pit outside that people can sit at. Also the parking was not too bad. Remember it's DC and parking will always be an issue. I'm definitely going to go back and update my review.

Sasha J: This is my third or fourth time at this restaurant and I will say the food is amazing and consistent with taste & portion size. At times the service is a little bit hectic but if you’re patient it’s worth it. My go to dish are the garlic shrimp which is phenomenal and the Bronzino stuffed with crab meat. The cob salad is humongous!

Tracey H.: I enjoy this place after work. I only sit at the bar so I'm not sure how the waiters are but the bartenders are great. The food is always good. I usually get the fried shrimp, crab cake sandwich or fish tacos. My coworkers enjoy the spot too.

Nicole D: Went here for brunch on a whim looking for something solid to fuel up after a long run and this was it! The crab Benedict was delicious and the Santa Fe bowl had so much flavor!! I was a little surprised that they didn’t have any more brunchy type cocktails, but I took it as a sign to just hydrate. I’m sure we’ll be going back!!
Response: Thank you Nicole. We appreciate your taking the time to write such a nice review. Please come again!

Bella H: Super friendly server great music nice atmosphere salmon was cooked to perfection. I really didn’t care for the potatoes but the asparagus was amazing presentation was everything food and drinks came out fast on time & super HOT and exactly how we ordered them Thanks Gator for the recommendation also Ivy city market has Maryland blue crab ask for Gator

Tim Jacox: Delicious! Had a reservation but it didn't seem necessary although ymmv. Service was quick and friendly I had the smoked Hot Turkey breast sandwich - pictured - and my wife had the smash burger - not pictured. Both were presented excellently on arrival and were scrumptious. We also ordered the smokehouse fish board - 5 of their s oked fish dishes, 2 bagles, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, capers, cream cheese spread- for a snack after the Dropkick Murphy's show which was perfect for a late night treat. Prices were nominal and fair for the DC area - we spent about $75 US. I definitely recommend.

Christina Zizzo: Holy smokes. The crab cake... So insanely delicious. By far the best I've ever had. Good cocktail options and the food tastes so fresh. Had the crab cakes (obviously) with brussel sprouts (also the best!) And the fish sandwich with blue catfish, so so good. Even the french fries tasted fresh! Can't go wrong here. Unless you don't even come and then you're doing life very wrong. PS our server William was so attentive and caring and deserves all the raises #williamformanager

Jennifer Thomas: 4-stars is solely based upon the portion size of the salmon sandwich, salmon portion was tiny. Dined here on Saturday 9/26, we wanted to sit outside but was told that no tables were available, no biggie we sat inside. Just when we thought we had been forgotten our waiter swooped in and gave us EXCELLENT service. As previously mentioned I had the salmon sandwich with a side of spinach instead of the fries, hubby had the po-boy with fried oysters (bread was too thick to actually bite like a sandwich and it is half size), fries and a side of mac n' cheese. Friends had the fish tacos, then fish and chips, we all had rum punch to wash it down. All of the food was very tasty, seasoned well, cooked just right, temperature on point. The rum punch was sooooooo good we had 2 a piece. Definitely would recommend this spot and will be back when we're in the neighborhood.

Michelle Coleman: Went on Valentines Day and the food was great! They had a special V-Day menu I had the red snapper. It was so good. My husband had the ribs they were delicious 😋 both meals came with 2 sides and everything was flavorful. Definitely going back! The price was also very good. $35 for each meal.
Response: Thanks so much Michelle. Happy to hear you had a nice Valentine's with us!

Petco: what do users think?

Austin Graff: We’re not pet owners, but stopped in to but a gift for our neighbor’s dog. The space is big with everything you’d want from toys to biscuits to anything! They have a pet grooming station, a dog biscuit bar and sell small pets like fish, hamsters, birds and snakes!

bFly Young: I gave 4 star because I went to buy a ferret the cage in thr store said one price and when I got to my car to check my receipt. I was charged more then the price on the cage. The man with glasses at the register told me that was the old price but as the consumer I was to pay what you had up in the store. I don't know nor seen anything about a higher price. Acted like he didn't amend the transaction u til I told him I'll file a complaint with the BBB better business bureau because they have to honor what was up in the store. After all that back and forth my daughter got to take home our new family member Dash. He's getting along with my son Bright. Looking forward to adding more to our family but hopefully we won't have another price issue next visit. An they play do well with Chinx our kitten like they're all siblings 😆

George Thomas Wood, III: Nice folks. We get our doggy daughters groomed there every 3 weeks or so. They are busy so sometimes it takes a while.

Harlan Harris: My Daughter-in-law went to purchase a fish and tank for her elementary classroom/students. I did not go in. She returned with both items, fish food, and water treatment. The wait was extremely quick--the store must have been well-staffed with knowledgeable salespersons. I thought +$20 for a single Betta fish was ridiculous, but I'm unaware of pricing. I do know I could have feed salmon to a family of four for less...

Joey Abrams: Pretty pedestrian big box pet store. Pet enclosures and tanks seem well managed and maintained. Online pickup order was ready and waiting when we arrived.

Olgamaris Fernandez: This Petco's grooming was HORRIBLE!!! Stay away. I went to pick up my dog (a miniature schnauzer) and he was still dirty, the hair cut was done with uneven scissors all through his body and face, as if it was done by someone with NO EXPERIENCE. Therefore, DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE, EVER!!! Even though they offered a full refund, it does not repair the horrible haircut and going to pick your dog to find him in such conditions.

Chanpen Tee: The store is nice and clean. The staff is friendly

Father Hood: The online prices are always different from in store. Once you reach your eight bag for free they do not give you your full credit which is a rip off. Will no longer be patronizing this company.

Cody Laliberte: Asked for a trim around the legs and back end, but our dog ended up with a shaved stomach and butt. Didn’t see the stomach until we had left the store already - obvious hack job with clippers that shouldn’t have been used in the first place. Nothing is straight or even, totally choppy.

Linda Roe: Staff K’Vina is outstanding. Her care for Chloe was phenomenal. Chloe responded very well to her

One Fish, Two Fish: what do users think?

Michael Purscell: My Singapore noodles were perhaps the saltiest thing I’ve ever (partially) eaten. The beef in it just tasted like a chunk of salt. The amount of MSG in it has made me physically ill. The pork dumplings were good. Serving sizes were very adequate; just wish I actually wanted to eat it.

Bettina Wallner: I am beyond disappointed. This place used to be so good and I just now ordered some sushi and upon opening the bag it just smelled like the fish has been sitting on the counter for the past 3 days. Called the place and they said they could send me something else instead. No thank you - I hope they are changing vendors and update their menu

M Thompson: I used to get drunken noodles from them all the time but Quality keeps getting worse and worse every time I visit My last time the noodles were soft and mushy like they were left over i Had to bring him back so they could make me some more which would be the last time for me I have to find another drunken noodle place

JP Love (HRH Wildflower): Large variety. Love the String Beans with Shrimp...add Water Chestnuts and Spring Onions. Nice portions for price.

m tanner: Ordered the Kung Pao chicken and shrimp. The food is not bad, seems fresh enough. But there is no chili pepper in the dish whatsoever, so there is absolutely no heat. Plus the single vegetable in the dish zucchini, nothing else. I know a dozen places in Tulsa that do Kung Pao better than this.

Victoria Hardin: REVOLTING. Waste of money. Warmed over leftovers. I should've taken a picture because the "food" looked old. I tried to eat it, but it should've gone right in the garbage. I ordered the Combination Thai Basil Fried Rice. First off, the menu didn't mention eggs as one of the ingredients, but there it was - in huge, inedible clumps. Some of the smallest cuts of chicken and beef I've seen (and few of them). A FEW shrimps. TWO pieces of red bell pepper. Maybe some onions? A few twigs of (maybe) fresh basil. The rice was definitely reheated (and clumpy) - nothing at all fresh about the rice. Smelled peppery (basil?) but tasted of nothing except salt and a bit of the FOUR thinly sliced jalapeno. Oh, I was charged almost $3 for a 0.99 Arizona Green Tea. Dishonest as well....People are really taking advantage of the pandemic and supply chain crisis. While waiting for my "food", I sat next to a table set up for dining but was dirty. NEVER AGAIN!

Skye Eason: This place must have changed ownership sometime in the summer of 2021. A real loss; used to be a solid Chinese place (not amazing but not awful) but now everything tastes like it came out of the freezer. Everything changed for the worse, from the dumplings to the carry out containers. I used to get carry out 1-2 times a month but won't be going back. Happy to change my review if they go back to the old recipes.

Sherman C: The sautéed rice noodles (chow Mei fun) was excellent. Compared to other chinese takeouts, this one was NOT overly salty or oily. Also the pork was sautéed from raw meat but not the pre-made ""cha siu" (roast pork) like most other shops (the latter is easier to make). Also the speed was fast and the people were super friendly! 5 stars.

Caleb Lilley: Got some late take out and loved it! Generals Tso's, Pad Thai and delicious Crab Rangoon!

Sarah Boyer: I have been getting food from here for the 6.5 years I have lived in DC and it has always been delicious! The portions are generous, the sushi lunch special is a great deal, and the staff has always been consistently so wonderful and kind (one time I was running late getting home and the delivery man beat me to my apartment, but then he bicycled over to where I was!). I am glad to see that they are still open, and that even from the start of COVID their policies have been great to keep everyone safe. I will seriously consider if I am still in the delivery radius the next time that I have to move

Luke's Lobster Penn Quarter: what do users think?

Angela Edwards: Family and I were visiting from Texas and all of us wanted to try out first lobster roll. Luke’s did not disappoint. Lots of lobster on all of our rolls. Derek was our cashier who suggested the lobster butter trifle roll. So yummy! Derek was polite and patient with us crazy Texans. We have not met many people like that here in DC so far unfortunately. We will have to go grab another roll before we leave. Yummy!
Response: Thank you so much for the great review! We are happy you all enjoyed your food!

Kitty L: Loved the lobster, the bisque and the refreshing poppyseeds slaw. Everything was perfect. We'll I didn't like the oyster biscuits that came with the soup but I thought the soup was perfect on its own anyway. Highly recommended! Will definitely go whenever I'm back in the US!
Response: Thank you so much for choosing Luke's as your meal!

A.C.: Delicious lobster rolls, I got the lobster roll flight. The spicy mala one was my favorite. The clam chowder was pretty average; I would pass next time. The staff were helpful and friendly. There is minimal seating so a large group might be better getting it to go.
Response: Afternoon A.C. , Thank you for the 5 star love on Google!!!! Mala has become our favorite as well here . I would suggest maybe the lobster bisque next time versus clam chowder. We wish were a bigger shack too.. Have an amazing week !!!!! Thank you, Team Luke's Lobster at Penn Quarter

Leslie Pinto: Super yummy and PRICEY!Overall experience was great. I will come back with a bigger wallet 😅As April 2022 I paid $30 for 3 tiny (2 oz) but delicious trio
Response: Hey Leslie!! Thank you for your great review! We look forward to welcoming you back next time to try some of our other delicious menu items! Thanks again!

Chris Dalton: Was craving a lobster roll since I can't get them where I live. This did not disappoint. I got Luke's trio: a crab, a shrimp and a lobster roll. It really hit the spot. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A little small, so if you are going with a big group may have to get it to go.
Response: Chris, thank you for your great review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the trio! We love suggesting that to our first time guest. Great way to sample our menu. Thank you again and we hope to see you in the future!

David Porter: Lobster was excellent and clam chowder was really good. Wish I would have ordered more of the clam chowder. It is pricey but the price is very comparable to market price for lobster. Only recommendation would be to add a sour dough bowl option for clam chowder. Staff was super helpful and friendly.
Response: Thank you so much for choosing Luke's as your meal!

JG Mash: Unlike Connecticut lobster roll, Luke’s lobster meat is chilled giving contrast to the warm bread. Overall, really superb lobster roll. Definitely going back
Response: JG, thank you for taking the time to leave us this great review. I strongly agree with everything you said. The contrast of the buttery toasted bun to the chilled seafood is wonderful! We look forward to seeing you again!

Alex Karayan: Great tasting trio!3 great flavors in a nice snack bite size.Fresh lobster (delivered Tues & Thurs), shrimp and crab. They add butter on the side and i asked for seasoning on the dide as well.
Response: Thank you so muck Alex .. It was great meeting you and talking over everything you wanted to know. Looking forward to you both stopping in again .. Team Luke's Lobster Penn Quarter

Brandy Honeycutt: My lobster roll was pretty good but I don’t prefer my lobster to be chilled I prefer it warm, maybe next time I ask for them to heat it up if possible. The employees did not seem very friendly or polite but I guess everyone has a bad day sooner or later.
Response: Good morning. Unfortunately, here at Luke's we sell Maine style rolls. That mean that the seafood is served between 50 and 55 degrees. We do not heat up the seafood as it has already been cooked and chilled. If we were to heat it up again, the seafood would not be good quality. i do apologize about the guest interaction and will have a talk with the staff.

Ashlee Olson: Tonight just husband and I tried this place for the first time. We instantly felt welcomed by Darrick (sp?) and Ashley. We couldn’t decide on soups so we were instantly given samples (we purchased one of each). We orders the trio rolls and it was the best decision ever! They were DELICIOUS!! We had a fantastic experience because of Ashley and Darrick! When we come back to DC, we will be visiting them first!!! Thank you both for the wonderful hospitality and great food!!!
Response: Afternoon Ashlee Olson , Thank you for the 5 stars on Google!!!! They are a dynamic duo and we are happy they we there to show you the Penn Quarter love !! Not sure who won the card game , but we are looking forward to your next visit to DC... Stay safe !! HAPPY SATURDAY!!! Thank you, Heather Jones AGM DC/MD Luke's Lobster

US Fish & Wildlife Service: what do users think?

Matthew Kuo: The Fishery and hatchery division permanent staffs were great people to work with. Even as a temp employee, you can still have flexible time and gets to travel to different hatcheries and do conservation-related work. You also have opportunity to work as part of conservation team for bull trout, or work in urban stream monitoring work. The downside of the place is not many permanent positions, so if you are someone fresh out the college, this place is a great place to gain experience. They hired some pretty good people as non-permanent staff, but bad apple was able to slip through from time to time. One recent temp staff goes by the name NATHAN HELMAN was such person. On the surface, he plays lip service to make himself look like an awesome employee, but in reality he avoid doing core work as much as possible and lied about the work being done. He also have no regard for the EEO policy for the office, making racist comments and treating his fellow co-worker like an inferior. This guy brought shame on govt workers and military veterans. Keep an close eye on this guy if anyone wants to hire him.

Paras Suri: It is located behind department of Ecology.

Kensington Market: what do users think?

T S: A much needed butcher and fishmonger in Kensington with bonus gourmet groceries to boot. Poké bowls were really quite good as well and the limited (by space) wine and beer selection have a nice range of quality and price. Definitely a place I will visit many times.

Kayla Lopez: Honestly, I’m blown away. We purchased multiple things for a Mother’s Day celebration and I was impressed with everything. The crab bombs/crab cakes were some of the best crab cakes I’ve had. The clams were fresh, twice baked potato was delicious, and the flan was yummy. So happy and will constantly return.

Matthew O'Reilly: Small market specializing in meat and seafood, with dry goods and wine leaning towards a Spanish taste. Prepared soups, sides, and sauces. A favorite of mine.

Elisa Ferrante: This place ROCKS! Checked out the market, which is fully stocked with awesome goods (lots of Spanish food) and meats. We had poke bowls for lunch and they were great. Really glad to have this place near by!

David Bowen: Fantastic. One of those places where you're tempted to post a bad review so that you can keep the place to yourself. Great meat, seafood, sides, fresh pasta, modest amount of groceries and veggies (just the right stuff) and ice cream (!!!). Thank you, Kensington Market, for opening in "no man's land." I no longer have to drive all the way to Hemps in Jefferson to get great meat! PS - I hope you succeed - the space you occupied had a number of failed antique stores. Hopefully you are here to stay, and hopefully the community will support you.

Gretchen Auer MacNeill: We grabbed some lunch, empanadas and tortilla espanola, both of which were delicious! We can't wait to grill the Denver steak for dinner. Everyone was very helpful! Can't wait to go back!

Dory Halbe: Great selection and really nice staff! Prices were fantastic. Cannot wait to come by regularly. A real gem in Kensington.

Lucy Swartz: Chicken Dijon - excellent!! Gazpacho - best I've ever had. I will be a routine customer.

Ray: Delicious poke bowls. Really kind and helpful staff. Check this place out!
Response: Thanks for visiting Kensington Market Ray!

Nicholas Sammons: Nice little gourmet market. Good seafood. Sorta hidden.Update : The sausages at this place are crazy good.
Response: Thanks for the review! We are excited to be open & you'll definitely see more of us soon.

Wagshal's Market: what do users think?

travelswithadiplomat: I really like Wagshals. Two shops, the market and the deli. Their sandwiches on-site are awesome, full of flavor. The bread is well made without additives and a friend is who gluten-free says it's in the top 3 gluten-free breads they've ever had. The market section has high quality fish and meat, their fruit pies are so good you could eat far too many in one go. They have a wine and spirits selection to rival any alcohol-dedicated store. But....all this gourmet excellence comes at a very high price. Expensive, expensive, expensive. So pick and choose. Unless money is no object for you, then a weekly shop here isn't for the financially faint-hearted. 😃

Ethan Boyd: Deli sandwiches, the finest cuts of meat freshly sliced. All of the finest cheeses, wines and spirits one would expect a stones throw away from Embassy Row and the VIce President's residence at the Naval Ovservatory and the National Mosque. You must try the freshest Bellevitano Merlot cheese moderately priced and wedged to any size, and other than Zanetti, the imported Agriforma Parmigiana Reggiano "Cheese of the Kings". Restaurant indoors , café, and, a wonderful menu with all of the pordicts as ingredients. Pair any wine and stop by around noon or in the morning to bump elbows with Diplomats at their favorite walking distanced haunt from their Embassies. Have a seat outside and watch them come and go. Prices are very fait, very busy but never a wait. If you spot an embassy intern or diplomatic staffer, start a conversation, and ask how you might visit their embassy. They are happy to oblige. There is a gas and full service station directly beside sharing parking which is ample and free (rare here) and have that oil changed or your tire patched while you enjoy.

Angie Stone: We had pastrami sandwiches for lunch on a Sunday. Service was OK, definitely not friendly. We watched the sandwiches being made, microwaved meat on hard rolls. My husband asked for extra meat and he was satisfied but mine & my daughters was 50% chewy fat that we couldn’t eat. Disappointed. Not sure if it’s overpriced or it’s just in a high dollar area?

Barbara Silberman: Everything in my Passover order was excellent. The gefilte fish was outstanding. Who would ever eat any other gefilte fish after tasting the one prepared for Passover at Wagshal’s? Anyone eating jarred gefilte fish clearly does not know about the traditional dish made for generations and prepared at Wagshal’s. What a great recipe! We order often from Wagshals and the freshness of fish, seafood and quality of meat is outstanding. Customer service is also terrific. I am an appreciate customer.

Annika Glennon: I have been coming here for years, the food and service is unparalleled. Came in today and they didn’t have any lamb kebabs prepped so a Julia, a member of staff personally took the time to make one for me. Julia (and the other staff) are amazing, I can’t explain the impact they have on our shopping experience. Thank you to the team! Pro tip: their crabcakes are beyond reproach

Dae Holley (Roselle Dae): I love coming into this location for basically everything they have to offer! I particularly LOVE their breakfast sandwiches and pizza. They also have a great wine selection, along with perfect ingredients, throughout the market, to make beautiful hors d'oeuvres. This is definitely an all around great spot!

Susie Baer: Pam the butcher is the best! Everyone there is very nice and the food is very fresh. I got sushi grade fish, and scallops that Pam said would make my knees weak. Can’t wait to try em!

janet: Best meats and fish in DC. Pam the Butcher is great! We have shopped here for years and consider it our go-to store for quality food

Lisa Huang-North: A wonderful local deli that has been here over 20years! We had a Reuben sandwich toast and the pastrami was out of this world! Succulent, tender and complexly flavorful, one of the best Reuben I’ve ever tried! Will be back again, now I’m dreaming of dinner...!

Tim Jurasevich: They have a nice selection of exotic meat. Kangaroo? Don't mind if I do! The more domestic products from the butcher are very good as well. The lamb sausage or burger (I can't remember which it was!) was excellent and I would highly recommend

Fiola Mare: what do users think?

Richard Holst: Elegant and delicious. Everything is gears towards an excellent experience. The staff is very friendly and ready to help. The restaurant has many quiet and corners with the perfect atmosphere. It is well organized and very clean, every inch has amazing details. The food and drink selection is extensive and everything we had was prepared to perfection. The views of the water are amazing and there are plenty of things to walk to in the area. We will be back here often.

Keana Williams: This was an enjoyable food experience from the appetizer breads and jelly, to the Prawn appetizer dish all the way to the lightest and fluffiest pancakes I possibly have ever had! No extra syrup needed!!! Not to mention, the bottomless Mimosas (or other drinks) weren't that bad either... I'm sure you will enjoy this place, just make sure you bring your check book! 😄😄

Dario Camilo Barros Viñas: 5 stars for real in every aspect. It has both a very fancy area indoor and a fancy yet relaxed area in the patio. The service was amazing, the food was superb, the cocktails were delicious and generous. Canver the manager was very kind and served us the calamari complementary make us feel even better served! I didn’t know the Branzino taste this good until I tried it here. We were only two so we couldn’t try more plates but do yourself a favor and try Fiola Mare!

Christopher Gillespie: All about the dining experience here, they go above and beyond. Did the bottomless brunch with amazing views. Brunch at this level of execution will be very tough to match. The blue fin ahi could be best bites of 2022 to date. The scallop crudo was melt in the mouth. Worth the price of admission.

Pe Lin (Cilibluebird): A five star seafood restaurant that deserves the five star. Great for special events minimum 50 USD per per person, but well deserved. Hakan was our server and he made this experience exceptional. Pasta’s are excellent. Georgetown next to water. Outside seating is great in the evenings of hot summers.

Roz Manning: Fabulous venue for our intimate wedding dinner with family. The Mermaid Room and adjoining patio were perfect. The appetizers were delicious, dinner was delectable and service superb.

Vannora Hawkins: We dined here for my husband's birthday. The food, service and ambience was A+. He got the Wagyu and it was cooked to perfection. My branzino was light, flaky and simply delicious. The oysters were AMAZING! The Brussels Sprouts is a must try! After trying to decide over 8 restaurants, we were glad we ended up at Fiola Mare.

Mike: Easter brunch was amazing. Staff, as always, is fantastic.Intro: watercress soup and the other dish white asparagus.Mains: blue crab omelette and Australian lamb.Glad to see that a packed restaurant. Make reservations!

Alemselam Tekeba: So delicious food. Everything is gears towards an excellent experience. The staff is very friendly and ready to help. The restaurant don’t have an Apple Pay, since me and my wife use’s almost everywhere and one additional thing wore if you don’t have an ID card you can’t be served alcohol even if we look adults we felt uncomfortable but we used other credit cards to pay and we cancel my wife’s wine order. The views of the water are amazing and there are plenty of things to walk to in the area.

Tash M: Had a private dinner here and it was an exceptional experience. The food was lovely, so was the service. Special thanks to Darina for being so attentive and providing an especially memorable experience.
