The District Fishwife: what do users think?

Sandi G in DC: Superb fish and chips..tender, juicy, crisp and so fresh. They really deserve the props for this dish....the tartar sauce is like heaven, but those chips are the BEST EVER only thing better is knowing I am can come back for more!😋😉👌🏽

Hiroko Matsuyama: Yum! I got the daily special- fried oyster poboy and a side of fries. Staff was friendly, food was delicious, and it came out quickly! Loved the sauce & the pickles that came on the sandwich. These guys are inside Union Market where there is plenty of outdoor seating. They also sell fresh seafood too!

The Market at Ivy City Smokehouse: what do users think?

Nancy Bates: Super knowledgeable and friendly staff. The salmon candy is made in house and addictive! This is my go to place for fresh oysters.

Nicholas Devine: I bought a pound of sashimi grade yellowfin tuna yesterday to make a ginger shoyu poke bowl. Not only was the customer service incredible, the fish was superb! I sliced the bloodline wafer thin and dipped it in soy sauce as an appetizer. Having eaten fresh ahi regularly in Hawaii for a couple years, my palette has become very selective, and this was by far, the best sashimi Ive had since moving to DC two years ago. You guys are the real deal!

Captain White Seafood City: what do users think?

lorena S: A must stop place in DC. What I would call local food, everything seems fresh and it’s cooked in the moment. Place smells like sea food as you may expect and captains white cooked food is in the back, fresh sea food in the front(did you see the size of those shrimps!!) We all enjoyed our crab cakes, shrimp, Mac n cheese, corn, potato wedges, lemonade. the area has changed a lot in the last few years, there’s lots of expensive hotels/restaurants, bars, people watching, etc. it’s not cheap and the lines can get long and they don’t have enough people (not their fault) but it’s definitely worth the wait and money. We will continue to return whenever we are in the DC wharf.

Best D: New location doesn’t have steamers yet.. Father’s Day they said they should have it. As a person of color, Asian and an ally, I have received bad treatment from the dc wharf location, and I knew coming in it was going to be hard dealing with the sellers. But I really want to change this stigma. If not from them from me. I stopped going there altogether and wanted to give them another chance at the new location. Asking prices doesn’t mean we are cheap. And some people actually prefer female crabs over male crabs!! But our cookout calls for catering to all various shades of people and genders- male crabs. (Happy pride month!! Androgynous crabs too!) To the sellers! Please do not make an ugly face when people ask for prices. And I hope tipping becomes more common with Asians but I do tip, so don’t generalize. If we just had consistently nice treatment as human to human, it would be more pleasant, nay, enjoyable to support local business. If we are cheap, same could be said about captain white leaving their lease at the wharf. Also know your target market. I’m sure you moved to PG county for a reason! If you are just nice and treat everyone with the same respect, rich looking, poor looking, whatever the f, I would come buy crabs every weekend in season. I call ahead cause I sound American, my American brother in law always get good prices calling ahead, I get there I ask for the prices suddenly it’s huge gap, I won’t say cause market prices fluctuate. It was completely reasonable for a customer to ask, even if someone asks to see size the crabs it’s within reason. No one likes to feel like they are getting ripped off, and I have been constantly ripped off, trying to support such business even when I come thru and engage nicely it’s just sad how we treat each other and we expect and demand to be treated better. Golden rule: treat other people the way you want to be treated..

Municipal Fish Market at The Wharf: what do users think?

Juan Garcia: Amazing seafood. Served off the pier.Wait is short during the morning...and about 20 mins during rush hour.

Cheryl J: Not as robust as it was the last time I was here but the freshness of the seafood is still the best around. In addition you now have options of various restaurants and parking garages. Gentrification has definitely taken hold of this location with apartments units on the wharf that includes parking. New places to ventures in addition to getting your fresh seafood options to take home. Fish, shrimp, octopus, scallop, lobster, and of course the variety of crabs…crabs in abundance. Live blue crabs, crab legs, Dungeness crabs and the list goes on…by the pound, bushel or case; whatever your pocket can afford is available.

Anna S: Always delectable! I have been to BlackSalt on many occasions, and the service is always fantastic. This visit was no different from my previous visits. It is the experience you expect with fine dining. From the oysters, to my entree of red snapper with truffle sauce, the food could not have been better! (And I didn’t think I would like the truffle sauce at all! I was so glad I was wrong.) I will, of course, be back again.

Floyd Le Vere II: Best tuna I ever had in my 42 years. Who knew peanut sauce went with mangos and noodles?? Dear God, praise this place, and me, so I can come BACK!

He walk us through the problem on the phone to rectified it. He told us to bring everything we have (supplies) and a water sample to the store. We stop n talk to Dustin. The staff is friendly and a delight. Dustin was very helpful, kind, knowledgeable, and perfessional. He did a water test and gave us the supplies we need to fix the problem. There is no way this restaurant/bodega passed an inspection. No way at all. I literally wanted to puke just walking in. I gave this place 2 stars because the staff is friendly. But if you are looking for soul food how in the world would you end up here??? THIS IS NOT A SOUL FOOD RESTAURANT! As for my friend who suggested this place to me. If I never see his face or this restaurant again it will be too soon.

R W: Service was a little confused, my porgi was very poor, although the perch was really good. So I think I try this place out again I received my food and it was undercooked. So I returned it and upon returning the undercooked meal I was met with a very nasty attitude. Will not be returning to this establishment buy at your own risk.

Nikki D.: Well first let me just start off by saying, I have been going to Fish n Da Hood since i was working at Howard University, over 15 years. They have been ON point since day one. NOT one time have i ever been unsatisfied. Me and my family trulyyy love this place. Everything is fresh, and fried nice and golden brown. They are so friendly and welcoming when you go there. See you all tomorrow. :)

Nicole D: Went here for brunch on a whim looking for something solid to fuel up after a long run and this was it! The crab Benedict was delicious and the Santa Fe bowl had so much flavor!! I was a little surprised that they didn’t have any more brunchy type cocktails, but I took it as a sign to just hydrate. I’m sure we’ll be going back!!

Michelle Coleman: Went on Valentines Day and the food was great! They had a special V-Day menu I had the red snapper. It was so good. My husband had the ribs they were delicious 😋 both meals came with 2 sides and everything was flavorful. Definitely going back! The price was also very good. $35 for each meal.

George Thomas Wood, III: Nice folks. We get our doggy daughters groomed there every 3 weeks or so. They are busy so sometimes it takes a while.

Cody Laliberte: Asked for a trim around the legs and back end, but our dog ended up with a shaved stomach and butt. Didn’t see the stomach until we had left the store already - obvious hack job with clippers that shouldn’t have been used in the first place. Nothing is straight or even, totally choppy.

M Thompson: I used to get drunken noodles from them all the time but Quality keeps getting worse and worse every time I visit My last time the noodles were soft and mushy like they were left over i Had to bring him back so they could make me some more which would be the last time for me I have to find another drunken noodle place

Sherman C: The sautéed rice noodles (chow Mei fun) was excellent. Compared to other chinese takeouts, this one was NOT overly salty or oily. Also the pork was sautéed from raw meat but not the pre-made ""cha siu" (roast pork) like most other shops (the latter is easier to make). Also the speed was fast and the people were super friendly! 5 stars.

Leslie Pinto: Super yummy and PRICEY!Overall experience was great. I will come back with a bigger wallet 😅As April 2022 I paid $30 for 3 tiny (2 oz) but delicious trio

Paras Suri: It is located behind department of Ecology.

Matthew Kuo: The Fishery and hatchery division permanent staffs were great people to work with. Even as a temp employee, you can still have flexible time and gets to travel to different hatcheries and do conservation-related work. You also have opportunity to work as part of conservation team for bull trout, or work in urban stream monitoring work. The downside of the place is not many permanent positions, so if you are someone fresh out the college, this place is a great place to gain experience. They hired some pretty good people as non-permanent staff, but bad apple was able to slip through from time to time. One recent temp staff goes by the name NATHAN HELMAN was such person. On the surface, he plays lip service to make himself look like an awesome employee, but in reality he avoid doing core work as much as possible and lied about the work being done. He also have no regard for the EEO policy for the office, making racist comments and treating his fellow co-worker like an inferior. This guy brought shame on govt workers and military veterans. Keep an close eye on this guy if anyone wants to hire him.

Christopher Gillespie: All about the dining experience here, they go above and beyond. Did the bottomless brunch with amazing views. Brunch at this level of execution will be very tough to match. The blue fin ahi could be best bites of 2022 to date. The scallop crudo was melt in the mouth. Worth the price of admission.

Pe Lin (Cilibluebird): A five star seafood restaurant that deserves the five star. Great for special events minimum 50 USD per per person, but well deserved. Hakan was our server and he made this experience exceptional. Pasta’s are excellent. Georgetown next to water. Outside seating is great in the evenings of hot summers.
