The Pub & The People: what do users think?

Ethan Z: Great Restaurant!! This Restaurant is in the city area and offers indoor and outside seating!! The menu is rather small but the food and drinks were great!! The wait staff were friendly and professional!! The restaurant was also clean and well presented. The bathrooms are coolly decorated too with people sending pictures in of there family pets in to be featured on the wall. Overall great!

Becky Gomez: Such a great spot for a lonely, taveling vegetarian! 😂 Bar service was superb and a delightful vibe. Great beer selection. Perfect shishitos 🌶️ and tempura cauliflower!

AJ Hendricks: Pub and the People is our favorite outdoor spot in Bloomingdale. The beers they have on tap are great, and the food (specifically, the Black Bean burger and "The Heidi" Fried Chicken sandwich) is very solid. The tempura cauliflower sauce is also amazing. Matt, the manager, is very friendly and just a welcoming face to see when you come in. This radiates through the whole staff. The happy hour specials are awesome, and run for most of the day on the weekends. Enjoy!

Parker Kelley: Very great experience here ! We’ve passed this place numerous times and I’ve always said I wanted to try it. So, we finally did ! I ordered the Heidi chicken sandwich which was very tasteful. It came with a side of fries which were also very good. The service was great - 3 or 4 people continuously came to check on us. I’d definitely eat here again.

Bobbi DeAnda: Such a great brunch spot! The outdoor patio is pup friendly (and the bathroom inside is a must see for dog lovers haha). The biscuits and gravy with fried chicken was TO DIE FOR. So yummy! Staff was super friendly and helpful.

Callum Wayman: A great local pub for people in Eckington and Bloomingdale. The pub offers a great selection of beers, wine, and cocktails as well as an excellent food menu (try the tempura cauliflower, chicken sandwich, and the fries). In the winter they offer group seating around large fire pits for small gatherings. I found that to be a huge boon when trying to gather friends outdoors while being mindful of COVID during the winter. The staff are nice and helpful.

Amy Burdon: Had dinner and played trivia - food menu was fairly short but with lots of tasty items - I enjoyed the curry wings and gazpacho. Staff were friendly, happy hour drinks were a good deal. All positives!

Daniel Albert: Not sure what happened to this place. The drinks we got were fine, but the food was pretty subpar. Got the Cuban sandwich and the fries that came with it were way too peppered and salty. The food used to be great here. The vibe is still good - cozy and perfect for winter time.

Round Robin Bar: what do users think?

Caitlin Cordova: The Round Robin Bar is the perfect place to have a cocktail during the holidays when you’re downtown to see the National Christmas Tree. Located inside the Willard Hotel, which is a work of art in itself, the circular Bar serves cocktails and a full menu of classic options. Cocktails ~$20 apiece. Happy hour is crowded, but there are plenty of standing options around the bar itself, and additional seating options in the hallway of the hotel’s lobby. Our bar table service was quick and efficient. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Annie Wilson: Attentive service, beautiful warm atmosphere and classic drinks - a delicious experience. The mint julep is spectacular, not fussy, and the staff are cheerful, knowledgeable and enjoyable to watch keeping bar. We went here to celebrate an occasion but we also went to see the national Christmas tree - great location for this. The historical aspects of the bar make a great addition to the experience.

Paul Terry Services Lawn Care & Landscaping: Christina and her staff are - in a word - AMAZING. Kind, caring and beyond gracious. Special requests are a not a problem for this crew. For the most unique and special celebration, look no further. Grateful for this staff.

Hue Tran: Went to the place for a drink and dessert. Service was horrible. I was eating on my dessert and the lady walking passed my table and just grabbed my dessert plate without saying anything, none of the " are you done with this? Or can I take this? Was happened.

Alex Holston: Fantastic. In the 1800’s Henry Clay brought the Mint Julep to Washington DC featuring it at this bar. Rich in history they still make this favorite May drink the same way. Makers Mark. Rose Simple Syrup. Muddle mint. Crushed ice. Our bar tender was fantastic. One of the best. We will return.

Patsy Agpalza: The Round Robin Bar at the Willard Hotel in D.C. is quickly becoming a favorite spot to have a drink and soak up the atmosphere. The Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon is absolutely delicious. I have ordered it twice now and have been very happy each time. The Bartender, Elias has worked there for 30 years and is absolutely phenomenal. Ask him to make you any drink and you will not be disappointed.

Matthew: A classy bar in a historic hotel only steps away from where Ulysses S Grant coined the terms lobbyists. Great bartenders who know how to serve a proper glass of whiskey.

Morris American Bar: what do users think?

Martin Schmidt: nice atmosphere, slightly too much air-con , or we as European are not use it ?.. We ordered 2 espresso martini, they were average, So much vodka , and coffee was not strong enough. For my taste But their original cocktail were Bom !!! Jamaican twist on Manhattan super tasty . La Reina was soooo good , if you live tequila try this . Overall i would definitely go back
Response: Hi Martin! We are ecstatic to hear you found us all the way from Europe-- it was our pleasure having you! Thank you for taking the time to try our selection of cocktails and for this detailed review (we know a cocktail connoisseur when we meet one)! Looking forward to seeing you in the future !

Bradley Popkin: Swanky and cozy bar with two floors. Spent some time here with family and friends. Great cocktail selection and service. We were greeted quickly and everyone was friendly. I really appreciated the full-size Johnnie Walker figure outside lol.

Neil Patel: The staff are super friendly and accommodating. We ordered off the menu and were pleasantly surprised at how much we liked our drinks. The mocktails and zero proof drinks were great too!
Response: Neil, thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that you had a great experience and we hope to see you again soon!

Andrea Martin: Good drinks, good service. It’s across the street from where Google currently shows. Has an outdoor patio that feels much different than the indoor vibe
Response: We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your experience with Morris! Thank you for this great review!

Nirupa P: Good experience. We did the Halloween special & the drinks were good. We both got 3 drinks each & they were great. Our favorite was Noche de sueno & dia de muertos. Food menu were also limited. We got the devil eggs & they were good.

Rachel Lipton: The space was thoughtfully designed with a great bar but the drinks were a bit of a letdown - certainly not bad but I was expecting something a touch more exciting (I know they rotate monthly so I’ll be back to try some new ones soon) The vibe was also a touch quiet/empty which was a bit of a bummer since we were celebrating but perhaps it would have been better if we were there earlier or later

Adam Pusateri: Morris is without a doubt an absolute gem of a cocktail bar and my personal favorite. The bartenders are not only inventive but also thoroughly well-versed in classics and contemporary drinks. You can tell the whole team is proud of their bar, and it really shows. The seasonal menu is their own impressive creation, but make no mistake, they gladly take requests and offer new suggestions. Inside is a time capsule of a classic bar. The colors, décor, lighting, music – it is the perfect place for relaxing drinks. Outside is shaded and casual, exactly what you want for a group of friends. Other bars even the often lauded “Bests in DC” have fallen short of what Morris is consistently doing here in terms of quality, knowledge, skill, and service. You get way more than what you pay for here. As amazing as it all is, it is not at all stuffy. Everybody is friendly, easygoing, and enjoys what they are doing. This review is long overdue and could not be more well deserved. Morris often surprises, never disappoints, and after all their extra hard work during the pandemic, I cannot wait to sit at the actual bar again. Until then, cheers!
Response: Thank you so much Adam! So glad you enjoyed your experience.

Mohan Sun: Our favorite cocktail joint in town! The drinks are top-notch and reasonably-priced. We’ve been to other “good” places that charged $16 for a to-go cup. Morris beats that in so many aspects and it never disappoints. Everyone works there are super nice and knowledgeable. Doug, Ian and Rhine are skillful bartenders who can fix you up with almost any requests. They usually have seasonal cocktail menus and recently added low & non-alcohol drinks which is perfect for a person like me who can’t drink too much. I got Strawberry Kitty last time and it’s sooo good! If you want something refreshing, you NEED to get it! Please support their business. They work hard to stay afloat while continue to innovate great drinks during this difficult time.
Response: Thank you for your review and your support Mohan!

Exiles Bar: what do users think?

Molly Crabb: Exiles has been the go-to UNC bar during the tournament (and hopefully forever?) and going to all the games has been a BLAST. The waiters were SO accommodating and pushed through a packed room to deliver food with a smile. We had tech issues with the TV and they had multiple people come and try to fix and figured it out quickly! My 64 year old mom even had a good time and said she’d go back.

Shaina Eckles: Great drinks, fantastic atmosphere & super rad bathroom art.
Response: Thanks for the kind words Shaina. We really appreciate it!

Brian Webster: Loved this DC area Buffalonian bar! Exiles is a great location with awesome service, great food, and impressive drink selection. I got the wings (crispy and great) paired with a couple of Labatts, as well as a Catalonian Spritz that was refreshing. This place would be amazing to watch the Bills this fall!
Response: Cheers Brian, fingers crossed for a big year for the Bills

Amit S: The 5th best bar on u street apparently. I still have to find the first four. The whole team is rocking. Good time guaranteed. Love you all!!!

Christopher Williams: A wonderful neighborhood bar. The owners and staff will make you feel at home. Nice outdoor patio with a “hook game.”

Shahnaz Punjani: Nice atmosphere. Friendly with great service. Just what I was looking for. A place to have a drink and chill.
Response: Thank you very much Shahnaz. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Alain Parcan: As a sworn Stetsonite, I never wanted to admit I liked exiles as much as I did but if it isn’t one of the best bars in dc to get a beer and decent bar food, I dunno what is

Doyle: what do users think?

Justin Leach: The servers were very friendly but 4-5 different people visited my table through the night, I wasn’t sure who my server was and who was just there to refill waters because everyone seemed to be switching roles. Even the host refilled my wine. They weren’t even too busy. I never got my salad, which in my situation was fine because I wasn’t too hungry anyway and really just wanted a couple drinks but normally would not be okay, and when I asked for the desert menu it took 20 minutes because they apparently only had one copy and all the tables were sharing it. Again, very friendly but confusing service. Can’t speak to the food because I never ended up getting mine.
Response: Thank you for sharing feedback on your recent experience at Doyle. While we're pleased to learn you found our staff to be friendly, we are disappointed to learn we felt short on delivering a memorable experience. Please know I have shared your comments with our team to ensure the high service standards we have set for our team are consistently upheld. Should your travels bring you back to Doyle, please let me know so I can personally ensure we have the opportunity to make amends for your recent experience. Regards, Julian Enright Senior Bar Manager

Alyssa Miller: I usually love the Doyle however - after over a month of not setting foot in the establishment I was charged over $85.00. Let me be clear - I have not lost my card, it has been in my possession the entire time. It has been impossible to get this resolved and incredibly disappointing in that the likely cause of this was a staff member running my card information and pocketing the money. My goal has been reversed and that has been not only incredibly difficult to do - I have been promised call backs from the manager that have never materialized. At this point I don’t see myself ever going back to what was one of my favorite places to enjoy a drink and wonderful atmosphere and I cannot in good conscience recommend it to anyone because they might be stolen from.
Response: Good Afternoon, Alyssa. We are deeply concerned to learn of this issue. After further review, it appears there was a delay of charge from the credit card processing company from your original visit. A member of our team would like to be in touch to provide additional details surrounding this charge. Please be assured that credit card details are never stored in our systems. When convenient, please send us an email with your contact information so we have the opportunity to make amends for this inconvenience. Regards, Julian Enright Bar Manager Hello@doyle.bar

Lina G: The best spot to kill your vibes. I felt disrespected. My taste buds felt disrespected. The three days old burger buns were offensive to my very culinary enthusiastic existence. The pickle wouldn’t take in the knife or teeth. The cocktail tastes like slushy. The bartender attends to customers not in the order of first come first serve, but in the order of shades - of course white to black. The manager looks like he hit the loto making management in the midst of lack of labor in covid era. If you came in ravenous, you’ll leave mortified or else you’ve simply lost your taste. What a shame it’s in the heart of DC. Sat June 25th, 2022. 11pm
Response: Thank you for your review. We are extremely concerned to learn of your recent experience at Doyle. We would like the opportunity to speak with you further to learn more about your visit, address any shortcomings, and see how we can make amends for your experience. Oceanie De Silva: What an Amazing Whiskey Collection!! We had a night out of drinks here with our friend who was visiting us and we absolutely loved the place and the collection of whiskeys and bourbon and so many other stuff! The bar tenders are so friendly and knowledgeable about everything! I said I love fruity cocktails with either Gin or Vodka and instant cocktails were created! Must visit in DC

Meg Salocks: One of the best collections of Scotch Malt Whisky Society on the east coast, along with lots of other unique bottles with a real range in prices. The staff are eternally nice and thoughtful, and will happily help you find the right pour for your tastes. A date night favorite if whiskey is your thing.

Anindita Barman: This is a very popular place I could tell from the crowd that was in the restaurant even after the kitchen had closed. We had the "Jack Rose Barrel Picks" flight, the "Time in a Bottle" cocktail, whiskey Wings and fries. The whiskey selection in the flight was great, the cocktail and the wings were good as well, however, the fries were not seasoned or salted at all. Service was good but the host could have done better. He just stood there without greeting or anything so we were not sure if he was part of the staff. Upon asking if he worked there, he said he did after which we asked for a table and he led us to one. :/ Parking can be a hassle as the restaurant is in the heart of DC. There is street parking but finding a spot is up to luck.

Gregg Caldwell: Have been here two times and the service has been excellent and the bourbon knowledge has been on par. Not sure how long it would take a server to know what liquor they have and the ability to speak about each bottle? Place gets loud as it gets later in the night. Make sure to check out the upstairs area.

Kevin Raisch: As a whisk(e)y fan, I had to visit Jack Rose while in DC and it was awesome. Kyle, our whisky advisor, perfectly crafted a whisky flight based on my preferences and provided very detailed and interesting facts about the story and science behind each bottle. In addition to the 3,000 unique bottles of whisky they have food, beer, cocktails and two floors of space (including outdoor space) so it’s perfect even for those who don’t want whisky.

Larry Miller: Over 2600 different Whiskies in their inventory. Great selection of rare whiskey. Great cocktails, service and food. This was a busket list bar for me. Itcwas the worth the trip.

Michael McDaniel: Truly a must-go place for bourbon and whiskey lovers. For starting at only $28, you’ll get to experience 3 bottles tasting with an excellent background on each bottle by well-knowledgeable and passionate servers. The second floor is open air with different corners to experience.

Christopher Yuen: I was in town for a business meeting and I took a few friends out to this bar on a whim and we had a blast! The bartenders were friendly and the drinks were unique and delicious! I had so much fun I ended up leaving my blazer at the bar. I called the manager Graham a few days later and he mailed it back to me all the way to Connecticut. He’s awesome and this place is too!!!!!
Response: Thanks Christopher, it's our pleasure to host you and your friends!

Annie: Cool bar with a chill vibe. Came here on a Monday night at 630 and there were only 2 other groups. Not the typical DC bar. There are a few tables and the bar to sit at. The cucumber mule was really good!
Response: You can always count on us for good vibes and great drinks, Annie. We're happy to hear you enjoyed your cucumber mule. Come back and see us for more cocktails in the future! -Cheers, The Crown & Crow

Corey Nolan: Always have a great time in this nostalgic Bar. Brian "Bar Man" has done an outstanding job building his dream. Staff is super friendly and they have stepped up their cocktail game since I last visited. Glad I was able to ring in 2022 in such good company! Thanks C&C team! Stay safe!
Response: We're glad to hear you always have a great time with us, Corey. Our friendly staff is always here to take care of you and treat you to a cocktail. We hope you'll be back to celebrate with us sometime soon. -Cheers, The Crown & Crow

A Sabbagh: A very cool rooftop bar just overlooking the marina! The vibes were amazing, staff super friendly and prompt. We were a group of 7 and we just walked in (first come first serve). The views are amazing! They serve a quite good variety of drinks with not so much options of food as it’s not a restaurant, but we had flatbread pizza, marinated olives, ahi tuna salad and they were great. Recommended!

Corrin Fleming: Delicious mezcal cocktail and a lovely view! Friendly, skilled bartenders. A nice place to stop after the theater.

Katze Love: This is a fun rooftop bar with a beautiful view. The drink menu had a lot of variety and the food was good. Not a ton of food choices but that’s because it’s primarily a bar, not a restaurant. We got wings, flatbread pizza, marinated olives, and cheesecake. All very delicious! Cool spot to grab food and drinks after a day on a boat :)

Casey: Absolutely loved coming here! The drinks were fantastic and the bartenders were so kind and helpful. It is self seat and first come first serve, which I loved. Beautiful views of Virginia and the Potomac river. Definitely would come back here again ☺️

Sincere Johnson: The view from the rooftop is beautiful. Great vibe, good food, good drinks.

pooria riahi: This bar in my opinion has one of the top ten rooftops in DC. The view to the wharf waterfront and beyond is amazing. You can catch a nice sunset here. As far as the quality of food and cocktails go, this place serves you something good. The prices however are above average in DMV area.

Joveria Javed: We went for happy hour Friday night and the bartender was extremely unprofessional. He spilled the drink he gave me and then was tending to other people, which is fine. But every time he was free, we would raise our hands. We were not belligerent. Then he YELLED at us about stopping and then finally came to help us order. Please teach your bartenders to not yell at just anybody. Maybe don’t drink on the job.

Emma Rentz: A great addition to Admo! The staff is stellar, the food and ambiance are also great, and they have fun drinks. The all you can drink happy hours sounds super intriguing.

Christina Y: We went today for the Miracle bar and it was great despite the rain and outdoor only seating. They have a little patio area set up with a tent and heater with delicious Christmas themed drinks. Try the Naughty shot and the Christmas Carol Barrel. It tastes like the spirit of Christmas and made the season bright for me! We also tried the Koji Chicken and california roll. The koji was delish ! I hope to come back soon to try their other items.

Jesseca Makeup: Okay so..this was pretty disappointing, the pop ups prior to this one so far has been phenomenal. The decor this time around was kinda cheesy and uncomfortable compared to previous pop ups. But , I could deal with that because it was still festive nonetheless. What I couldn’t deal with was the expensive prices! I was honestly shocked at the prices after ordering. The drinks were meh , the food was “ok” . We ordered gingerbread cupcakes that were dry and tough. And walked out of there unimpressed after paying 180.00! They sneak a service charge in there and then expect for you to leave a additional tip. Think I’m good on this pop up for years to come.

Dani Brown: Had made a reservation to enjoy a nice dinner outside in an igloo with a few friends. While booking the reservation resy specified that we would have our own igloo and server. When we arrived for dinner the seating was just general tent seating outside with other guests. Our server took a bit of time to get over to us to take our drink orders, and with that being said she was extremely out of it. We had a group of ten and yes that is a lot of people to serve but everyone’s drinks came at different times and some people didn’t get there drinks till 30 minutes after they had ordered. The food came before most of our drinks and we had to remind our server we ordered drinks a couple of times. The owners were very nice and another server helped us out with a few things. The food was good. I understand they had a Christmas pop up bar inside the venue but either way it was a bit of shame our experience was what is was. Hopefully they can do something about the speed of drinks and other than that food was good.

Natasha Hansen: Enjoyed a delicious cocktail. Their streetry is nice and warm! With friends we shared the fried chicken, dragon roll, peppers and edamame. The fried chicken was amazing! Everything was delicious and service was great! I do wish they had more winter-y cocktails!
Response: Thank you! Miracle, our Christmas themed pop up bar starts next week 11/26-12/31! Be sure to come back and try any or all 10 holiday cocktails!!

J Foodgeek: Good whiskey bar with good service and they have their own unique cask of filibuster whiskey. We had a little straight and old fashions, which were really good. The barbecue chips were great but they just come in a bag. The popcorn, they make there, but it was very stale. Popcorn comes in several different flavors and we tried the old bay. The first photo is an old-fashioned with filibuster whiskey. The second photo is of the filibuster rep and one of the bartenders.

James Palumbo: If you are looking for a nice place that has a great selection of high quality liquor to sip, this is it. We both had rum as it was a warm night. We look forward to coming back in the winter and having a scotch. Service was solid.
Response: Thanks so much for the kind words. We’re glad you had a good time and we look forward to your return. We also have a boatload of Bourbon 😉

Paul Harkins: Absolutely love this place. Great bourbon list and very affordable pours and great recommendations by the bartender Chris.

Steven V: Great atmosphere. Whiskey selection is incredible. Small, intimate bar

Jessica C: Great date place because of the variety of drinks. Great cocktails and great vibe

Edwige (sipsavorslay): Went here for a private event. Bartenders are awesome and super friendly. Cocktails are fun but a little sweet. Super casual. [Instagram @sipsavorslay]

Yigit Can Yoruk: McClellan’s Retreat was my favorite place in DC till today. Not sure who made this decision but they hired this bouncer/doorman who walks around like cartman from south park yelling “respect my authoritaa!!” She was on a powertrip, saying “you cant do this and that in MY bar” while all I asked to see if my friends can sit with us. She refused to let them in and potential customers(we had EMPTY SEATS!) She was very rude, disrespectful and aggresive. Can you please chill a little bit? Oh and thanks for ruining our night
Response: We are so sorry to hear of this interaction. As I'm sure you're aware finding good help is hard these days and not everyone can be a great fit. We'll address this with the staff in question and hope you'll give us another chance.

Tim Horton: Awesome vibe in a cozy bar with cool cocktails and cheap shots. Very friendly waitstaff as well :)

Mysiki X Valentine: First let me start with the best part—the restroom. It’s very clean and cute. If the bathroom isn’t clean, you cannot expect the bar, or glasses to be clean. The drink selection is small but tasty. There are 9 drinks for all types of folks. I did not see a wine of beer list but there maybe one. On the night we visited, there was a live jazz band. It was nice to have live music but it was entirely too loud for a speakeasy. In addition, the center tables (circles) are a bit small with the decorative candle on the middle. Overall this is a nice bar to go to on U street. Do not forget to make a reservation..oh and they charged us $10.00 for just showing up (Repeal Day) this was unclear and not friendly.

Kevin George: Classic coctails and very unique cocktails of there own, this basement bar has amazing atmosphere and great employees. The cocktails are worth the wait as the bartenders cut all the ingredients fresh.

Ricardo M Gonzalez: Super cozy cocktail bar. Great service, even better drinks. Its great to visit in small groups and have fun. Great location and close tho other places in case you need food after.

Meenu Singh: The coziest semi-hidden bar with a beautiful attention to detail, from the fresh herbs and flowers in the cocktails to the wood paneling to the roaring fireplace. The drinks were delicious and special. The whole service team was so kind, and my table of three felt so cared for. Thanks for making an evening with friends feel magical!

Rachel U: First time here and loved it! Very unique, tasty cocktails, excellent service. We had a reservation for Friday night, there is a two hour window for seating.

Natalie Pirrone: Hands down my favorite bar in DC. Patio is super awesome, staff is really friendly. Cocktails have so much flavor. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

Henrry Palacios: I believe this is our third or fourth time coming here. All the cocktails we’ve had have been great and it’s one of our all time favorite cocktail bars. The service is always great, the vibe is always very calm and comfortable, and the drinks always impress. If you make a trip to DC, you’ll have to make this place a priority and be sure to make reservations beforehand!

Mathew Crichton: A wonderful little speakeasy tucked away on U Street. They have some amazing old fashioneds and shaken cocktails! The sweet potato donuts are also freaking fantastic!

Blake Arrington: Very good drinks and even better customer service. Even is you dont like a drink they will switch it out for you Definitely the best old fashioned I ever had and the martini was very good with an extra drink Also if you want something sweet the sweet potato donuts are very good

Lola's: what do users think?

Mike Laarry: Stopped by last week to grab some dinner and watch the games. Ordered the short rib entree w/veggies, I really didn’t like it. When I order short ribs I don’t expect for it to be on a tomahawk size bone, the glaze was flavorful but It just wasn’t for me. The bartender Tristen was cool. I’ll come back another day and try something different.

Moses Grossman: I proposed to my sweetheart here and the entire experience was wonderful. The staff was absolutely amazing and so helpful. Thanks for the beautiful experience!

Nina Mcrae: Only gave it one star b/c I had too. PLEASE stay away from this place. Food is disgusting. Manger is homophonic and a racist. He charged us for food we didn’t eat and food we didn’t ask for. It’s no life in the place. BEWARE.

Vanessa Long: Popped into this bar a couple weeks ago because the pride flag outside caught my attention, I was instantly greeted by Tristan the bartender GM and was made feel welcome. This weekend I had to bring my family in to meet Tristan and enjoy their delicious baked mac and cheese, satay skewers, and ribs!! Will be back again to enjoy their pool table, lounge area, and of course Tristans welcoming energy!

Deegant Adhvaryu: Great Mac and cheese, drinks are solid, and Ali is the nicest bartender. He made us feel very welcome and chatted with us frequently.

Sarah Bartholomew: Bartender was insanely rude. I walked in with a friend and said we just wanted some drinks and she rudely replied well you’re at the bar what do you want? I thought perhaps maybe there was table service and mentioned that and she laughed. I am a bartender and have been working in the industry for around 10 years. I have NEVER spoken to a patron the way she spoke to me and it would have never been tolerated by any company I have worked for. I asked my friend if it was me being over sensitive or if she thought the woman was rude and she said yes she was rude. I then went online to look at reviews and it seems almost everyone else feels that way as well. I am appalled. Especially during COVID as an industry worker I respect and value my guests so much and could never imagine treating people this way and expecting them to tip me or ever return. I NEVER write reviews, but thought this woman was so awful she deserved to be called out. There are so many good workers in the industry, you should maybe consider cleaning house and hiring people who genuinely care about your company and value guest experiences.

David Handler: Food is pretty good and the vibe is cool, though kind of pricey and staff is very overworked.

Dave Donahue: We found this place as it was one of very few places open late after a rain delayed Nats game, while waiting for uber prices to drop. The lady who was the bartender was extremely rude and acted like she had a chip on her shoulder the whole time - seemingly to everyone. I heard one person ask if she had a beer list, she replied “over here honey” and pointed at the tap handles, then walked away. Another customer asked if she had a menu, she said “no” and then walked away. Basic mixed drinks with well liquors were a little on the high priced side, but not out of the normal range for DC. It could be a cool little place if they had a half friendly or helpful bartender.
Response: Mr. Donahue, Thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry to hear that your time at Lola's was less than ideal. Please email me at alejandra@hillrestaurantgroup.com to discuss in more detail.

Samantha Kahn: Great food! the pork sliders are a must , the meatball flatbread was so yummy! Service was amazong and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming.i really enjoyed their playlist and it might make me seem old but I really enjoyed that I could hear the music enjoy it but not have to scream over it 😁. Tristen was super welcoming and we will def. Be back
Response: Samantha, thank you for the 5 star review and amazing feedback. We look forward to hosting you again soon!

The Lucky Bar: what do users think?

Saif Al-Alawi: This is the official supporters bar for Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United. They offer some local IPA and I recommend the 3 Stars if you love your simcoe hops. The bathroom upstairs is a work out but clean. Glad I hit it early before those United fans stunk it up.

Joe Joemer: The breakfast was excellent, the staff was very nice, and the rates were fair. Fantastic collection of draft beers chosen by a beer expert.

Samantha Elizabeth: After being rejected by Decades nightclub, my boyfriend suggested Lucky Bar for drinks. I liked how dices of different sizes were mounted within the bar counter. When we sat at the bar, at first we had to wait to place a drink order. I asked for a drink menu and the bartender Shannon asked what kind of drinks I liked. They had three types of ciders - Magners, Woodchuck, and Angry Orchard. I ended the night with an Angry Orchard.

Geoffrey Fleming: Excellent bar, good atmosphere for sports and good on prices for both food and drink. Ordered a Philly cheese steak and it was delicious. Great selection of beers and food. Definitely recommend for anyone around the area looking for a good sports bar and excellent service. The bar staff were excellent, especially the lady Shannon who took care of us all night.

Michael Wiredu: The atmosphere is electric win lose or draw. Great place for Gunner fans. And the food is very good.

Todd Boppell: Great place to catch an Arsenal game! Staff is super friendly, breakfast was great, and prices are reasonable! Awesome draft beer selection curated by someone who knows beer.

Skanbass: Good sport bar. I went there a lot during the African soccer cup. One of the only bar that passes the games.

Silver Lyan: what do users think?

Marissa P: Extremely well priced cocktails for this area and the caliber of the drinks/service. You can go to a dive bar down the street and still be paying $14 for a drink out of a plastic cup! The ambience is lowlight speakeasy style, perfect for a date night. Bases loaded was the best we tried, the cherry float was delicious! I’m not even much of a whiskey fan either. If you’re a fan of good service and attention to detail, Silver Lyan should be on your list.

Rebecca Carmeli-Peslak: worth every penny. such a cool classy experience. the staff is all amazing and goes out of their way to help you pick the perfect drinks for your celebration. we really enjoyed the fruit jell-o shots project apollo champagne espresso martinis and french martini. my party and i will definitely be returning soon! bonus they have a giant gumball machine

Ryley Thompson: Modern space with an interesting vibe in the basement of the St. Riggs. The cocktails are unique, which honestly is hard to do these days. Prices were fine but higher than average If that matters to you. Very friendly staff was a highlight. Definitely worth a stop on your DC cocktail adventure.

Natalia P: Best cocktail bar in DC. Service was quick and everyone was friendly. Chairs were cute and comfortable. Definitely will be back next time I’m in the area.

Blvknative: Nice underground world to step into inside the Riggs, a bunch of different drinks curated perfectly with every drink. The ambience of the place is to die for. Great way to end your night!

byron subero: Nice spot to grab a drink and relax. Very crowded cause they had special guests from NYC for the cherry festival but definitely will go back......aaaaand I went back

Quill at The Jefferson: what do users think?

Georgia Hensley: What a great experience visiting The Quill. When we arrived there was no place to sit at the bar or restaurant, so our waitress let us go in a little room with a couch and TV, she brought our drinks while we waited. They treated us so special! The drinks are the very best, served with olives and a variety of nuts. We left happy and elated. We will def. return on our next visit to DC The Quill is located at 1200 16th St. NW in Washington DC 20036
Response: Thank you for the kind words! We’re so glad you enjoyed your visit to Quill and hope we can welcome you back again soon.

Linzee Ott: Extraordinary vibes, really friendly staff, and supremely tasty cocktails. Sat at the bar and a different time at a table, and thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. Really professional but also creative cocktail menu. Upscale but approachable. A favorite tucked-away spot in DC.
Response: We're so glad you enjoyed your visit to Quill!

Patrick Young: Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and great cocktails. Quite pricy though, but after looking around the hotel you’ll understand why. They give cashews and pickled vegetables to you while you wait that are very much appreciated. Type of place you’d want to frequent if you want to run into politicians or others with power

Karen Koller: Outstanding cocktails and service. The kitchen closes at 10pm so I didn’t get a chance to try and food but the complimentary nut mix and pickled vegetables were delicious. Prices were reasonably.

Matthew Brown: The bartenders are fantastic. The level of professionalism and craftsmanship is second to none. You cannot get a better drink than the ones made by Meghan and Katie.

Amanda Cropper: Spot on cocktails and service. Charcuterie board is excellent and easily feeds 2-3 people. Worth every penny.
Response: We’re so glad you enjoyed your visit to Quill!

Matthew Wilding: Beautiful bar styled after a glass bar the owner apparently saw in France. Cocktails were great, ambience was perfect. Meghan the bartender was an excellent conversationalist and really knew how to work a room. One of the best hotel bar experiences I’ve had.
Response: Thank you for the kind words about your recent visit to Quill and your positive experience with Megan!

Gabriel Lopez-Bernal: One of the best cocktail bars in DC. Spectacular.
Response: Thank you for the kind words!

VictoriaVenturing: Beautiful hotel and restaurant, loved the cherry blossom drinks!

Izabelle Monique: Great experience as always. I miss the live piano jazz, though. Peter was wonderful and made The Quill’s nights even better before the pandemic.

Ellipse Rooftop Bar: what do users think?

Morris Jones: The good - This is a nice place to enjoy time with a friend...great views. Food offerings were on par for a roof top bar. The "beef" - The bar area is small...enough for hotel guests to enjoy and groups of two. The bar size and the bar service are not satisfactory for handling a group or a table with more than 3. Do not go expecting table service (none). You must go to the small bar to order everything...paying for a table or a round of drinks was a challenge. Paying for a $40 shot of whiskey served in plastic glassware (?)...I did enjoy my table guests, the view and the weather. I expected better service...

Donovan Craig: Nice rooftop with a bit of a view, the atmosphere was very relaxed, just wish they were open to the public more as we saw multiple days where they were closed for private events.

Rich Opalinski: Weather was perfect while we stayed, both bartenders were attentive, great views

M planetmike: (Update 2022 June) Arrive early if you want a seat. Conveniently located to McPherson Square. There is a happy hour. However due to its relatively small footprint and its connection to the hotel it is often reserved and unavailable. Recommend calling ahead to verify it is open. It is a refreshing spot on summer days.

Rachel Cipkins: Perfect place to unwind after a day at the national mall

Adara Ney: A perfect place for an after work drink to watch the sunset and soak up nice weather. Great for group events too! I hosted a team happy hour with 20-30 and had a great experience. Great food (and prices!) on the catering menu and Brittany did a fantastic job coordinating the event.

David Cuevas: they never used real tequila on my tequila cocktai, I got a headache before I finished it.

Brenda-renee Vance: I enjoyed myself. The bartender was amazing. My drinks was good beginning to end.

Mike Rucki: Overpriced drinks, very limited bar selection, and not enough bartenders on a cramped rooftop. A decent view earns an extra star, but I cannot recommend this spot.

Off the Record: what do users think?

Ariel Aviles: We loved this hidden bar, just a perfect "speak easy" located in front of the White House. Decor is very fancy, lighting is dark, all red walls with caricatures of politicians. Bartender was friendly, and we got some great cocktails. Perfect the end of a date, nice cousy space for great conversation and drinks.

Kimberly Giang: Came here for a light snack and drink before dinner. It was very crowded during Presidents Day weekend but we managed to find a 2 top table. Loved the cozy old fashioned lounge atmosphere. Even though it was insanely busy, our server managed to be very helpful and attentive. He did a great job running around the whole bar by himself. I did not get his name but the receipt said Vlad on it. He definitely deserved a shout out! My husband enjoyed his drink and I liked the soup!

Karen Riegler: What can I say? Amazing, amazing, amazing!Daughter took us on our visit to DC. Pear martini is oh so yummy! Lobster rolls. Potato croquettes , wedge salad! The staff is incredible! Can’t say enough about the experience! Must go

Paola Pritchard: Very old school vibes and men in suits. The drinks are good and the staff is friendly. Had the potatoes coquette with red pepper sauce that was so good.

Sylvia P: Iconic bar. The drinks were outstanding! The waiter placed coasters based on our political preferences, these are cartoon images of iconic government figures seen on the walls.

Sagar Wadgaonkar: Great bar. Cozy underground feel right across from the White House. Bartenders are very skilled and make great drinks. Drinks are expensive but that comes with the territory.

Steve Otten: My wife and I visited this place as a potential “speak easy” bar with some historical context connected to the Hay-Adams on Saturday 5/28/22 at approximately 10:30pm. We sat at the bar closest to the door. Eventually, we were given menus without any greeting or pleasantries. I ordered a Blanton’s straight and my wife a glass of wine. We advised the bartender it was my wife’s birthday and asked if he wouldn’t mind snapping a quick photo. He told us “he didn’t have time for that, and will get to us when he has a chance”. Mind you, this is a bar in DC during a holiday weekend and we easily walked in and found seats because of the lack of patrons. This clearly is of no surprise given the service. We actually happened to see his POS Home Screen and noticed 6 total tabs…. Six. The bartender eventually asked some wait staff behind us to take our photo which we declined. I asked for my check and the bartender told the other bartender “see this is what I’m talking about” and the took the next 10 minutes getting our bill in a folio. We both left our full drinks in disgust. From this point forward, I will advise all of my colleagues, friends, and family to never visit this venue. This was easily my worst experience of any caliber location and that bartender was a disgrace at best. I’m sad I wasted my time to visit, and even more so to type this review. I hope to whomever comes across it, that I saved you the time and money from the looming disappointment.

MEVR3E: Pricey but you get what you pay for. I like the ambiance— would recommend this spot to catch up w friends or couples. I felt comfortable spending a few hours here, and enjoyed the personalities and service of the bartenders. I will be back again to make use of the happy hour specials.
Response: Thank you for leaving a thorough and honest review!! We are a new bar and intend to keep on improving , feel free to email us with any suggestions at therooftopdc@gmail.com! Our happy hour is the best in the area!

Epic Work: Nice setup and ambience aesthetic wise but bartender service is trash with non friendly attitudes. Therefore management of it is trash for allowing it. They walk back and forth ignoring you as if they have better things to do even with only 2 people there. Not ever again

Lindsay Peters: The view and atmosphere was great for an early spring day! There is limited seating at the rooftop edge. The prices are slightly higher though happy hour cocktails are 50% off (4-7pm). I had the pork tacos and they were super delicious. There is an automatic 20% gratuity applied.
Response: Thank you Lindsay for taking the time to leave a review! Come back for our new 50% off happy hour on Sundays from 1PM to 7PM!

Zahra Amiji: Literally the worst rooftop experience of my life. Went during the so called "happy hour" where drinks are supposed to be 50% off and was charged full price for multiple drinks ($18+). Also, had to wait 45 minutes to be served at the bar. Would not recommend this rooftop at all. Try a different place for a better DC experience.
Response: Zahara was refunded** Hello Zahara, so sorry to hear of this mistake. We would like to make this right— please email your name to therooftopdc@gmail.com so we can correct your bill. We are a new bar and intend to keep on improving. We are making sure there will not be a long wait in the future. Thank you for letting us know, once again we would like to make this right.

Daniel X. Bandong: Great vibe! Staff was very attentive and a great menu. Had a great work Happy Hour with a fantastic space. However, no beers on draught; hopefully that changes soon!
Response: Love to hear you enjoyed our staff and overall vibe! Hope you and your coworkers come again soon! Thank you for the recommendation, we are a new bar and intend to keep on improving!

The Next Whisky Bar: what do users think?

carlos lopez: Overpriced and with close to 30 people still sitting around and drinking, they decided to close early because the manager had left for the evening.Makes no sense, they could have probably sold a good amount of drinks, specially because a wedding had just ended and a large group came up to hang out.

Gal Mesika: They charged $300 dollars to rent an outdoor igloo. They don’t offer any other outdoor seating so this is predatory in my opinion if you don’t feel comfortable sitting inside. I’d highly recommend you go somewhere else. Charging to sit outside is the most absurd thing I’ve seen. Especially when your igloos aren’t even being used.

Viviana Shanks: Waited 15min for a waiter, even though there was two bar attenders. We ended having to order our drinks at the bar. The Sri is ended up extra sweet. Up until the end of our night cap, we have seen the bar attenders chatting and no one caring about us or anyone else for that matter. Not great for a lobby bar, but great looking bar
Response: Dear Viviana, Warm greetings from all of us at The Next Whisky Bar. It was a pleasure to have you join us and we thank you for sharing your review. We are warmed to read that our innovative design featuring golds and reds captured your attention and we thank you for sharing your rave comments for the benefit of our Design Team. Your added comments regarding the service delays leave us concerned and we hope you can accept our sincerest of apologies for any inconvenience. The details of your review will be shared with our team in an effort to ensure others do not experience a similar delay and on behalf of all of us, we look forward to provide a more treasured experience the next time you join us. Until then. Warm Regards, The Next Whisky Bar at The Watergate Hotel

Johnny Dollar: We came in to see the safe that gets you a rare bottle of whisky if you succeed in unlocking it. And stayed getting guided by Ben true their incredible whisky selection. Trieng a Black Manhatten before a show at the KC and enjoy the chat with him over our drinks. Highly recommended this very stylish bar for a good whisky or even a ultra expensive one, a classic drink or one of their own creation.
Response: Dear Johann-Sebastian, Greetings from the Next Whisky Bar. We are thrilled that you enjoyed a pre-theatre drink with us and we appreciate you taking the time to share such a wonderful review. Your recommendation means the world to us and we hope ours is a bar you and yours will visit time and again for many years to come. Warm Regards, The Next Whisky Bar at The Watergate Hotel

Matt R: Quite pricey as you’d expect given the location. Good drinks and service. Nice surroundings. A good choice for pre-show drinks.

Dmitry Finkler: At 11:30pm on a Saturday night (when listed as open til 12am), this lame, overpriced bar told us that they can’t sell us another drink cause they’re closed. Disappointed!

Kimberly Young: Very nice. Good selection of bourbon.

Bek Ergashev: The Watergate Hotel and the Next Bar used to be one of our favorite places in DC. We have a tradition of having several staycations there every year and decided to do it again this year, even though the pandemic is still quite present. We wanted to support the hotel and bar that we love so much. This turned to regret as soon as we checked in and decided to go the bar. First glance at the menu, it was clear that looked their main goal was to price gouge and exploit their clientele. Cocktails that were $15 a year ago were now $25-35. A glass of wine was $25. And a bottle of Jameson that you can buy from a liquor store for $20 was - I kid you not - $325. Oh and not to mention the fact that they require you to pay $27+ for an appetizer before you can order drinks. A $25 appetizer that would cost $7-12 elsewhere. We promptly stood up and left. Not because we could not afford the menu, but because they are clearly exploiting their loyal customers who choose to give them business during a pandemic. We understand the hotel and bar are in the high-end but come on, exploiting your most loyal customers to this degree during a pandemic is just as low as you can get. We are completely turned off from this experience and won’t be giving the bar, nor the hotel, our business in the future.

barmini by José Andrés: what do users think?

Natalie Caldwell: We were in DC for the weekend, looking for a place to get drinks before our later dinner reservation. There is a reason barmini has the reputation it does, and our experience was more than we could have hoped for. The attention to detail was both expected and impressive - the care and perfection that went into each crafted concoction was amazing. We described to our waiter what our flavor profiles were and he made us both personalized (and perfect) cocktails. We topped off our before dinner drinks with the brioche. *Chefs kiss* and that butter…I’d eat a whole loaf. Can’t wait for the chance to come back.

Kennith “Conley” Coleman: We were able to enjoy the cocktail flight. The experience was amazing and all the cocktails were so delicious. The service was excellent. We also tried the grilled cheese appetizer and it was beyond good.

Triloka Shanbhag: For those of you wondering if the long waitlist and tough-to-get-in reservation system renders this place worth going to or not, I’m here to tell you it is utterly and absolutely worth the wait. The experience of being at Barmini and having their cocktail flight is unparalleled. From the sophisticated palette displayed in the variety of cocktails to the servers that pay you copious amount of attention, every little detail is planes to the tee. At times you may feel you are transported to be amidst a lab experiment but the drinks made at your table using liquid Nitrogen are delicious and a spectacle to watch. We also tried the brioche bun, it absolutely melts in your mouth. Having been to a few other Jose Andrés restaurants in the DC area and always being pleasantly surprised with my experiences, this certainly keeps the streak going. Can’t wait to try Minibar by Jose Andres too.

Mukesh Bhakta: Just Wonderful. Vegetarian food paired with drink for me and a la crate for my wife. The dishes can be substituted with non vegetarian. We had 6 small plates and were full by the end of 2 hours. Each item was superb and we did add Australian Truffels to 4 dishes which elevated them substantially. It is definitely worth it for the experience. It is expensive but we enjoy these throes of restaurants very much. Staff was precise and excellent. Cocktails were unique and superb.

DeJuae: Food presentation was some of the best I’ve seen here in DC. It has 2 Michelin Stars. The intimate setting and couches make for a nice date night!

James King: Amazing food. Fantastic service. Highly recommended.Presentation is very elegant. Decor is intimate. Call ahead.
