Barracks Row Main Street: what do users think?

Black Star Dust: Barracks Row is filled with restaurants and eateries to your liking. Everything from Matchbox to “Call Your Mom” cafe, La Tortuga, Ted’s Bulletin, Nooshi, A nice ramen spot and more!

Austin Graff: Barracks Row Main Street is one of the oldest main streets in all of Washington, D.C. Starting at the Eastern Market Metro, it extends down 8th Street SE passing many local businesses with many options for dining. There's also an alley across from Ambar that leads to a gin garden, murals and an art space. The main street hosts many community events, including a popular Fourth of July parade.

Whitney Jones: Popular street in Southeast DC with plenty of restaurants and bars for a variety of tastes. Near Eastern Market stop on the metro. Good alternative to Gallery Place and downtown.

Hillary S: Great restaurants, young lively atmosphere. Plenty of homeless on the streets as well. Easy walk from the metro station.

Michelle Dowsett: Great choice of high end gourmet to casual quick-bite restaurants. Large selection of retail, service shops, and dood..

Mav Beri L.: Variety bars and restaurants. Sit in and street side. Cafes. Movie Theater. Nearby subway station

Esley S: Love the area and the organization was great to work with when my band played the fall festival

Michelle Ford: I visited the Dentist there at 729 8th st SE.

Glory Smith: That was my first time going there and I'll probably go again

Sharon Godfrey: No parking. To expensive to live.

Marine Barracks: what do users think?

Kaitlyn Schnellbacher: Visited for the Evening Parade with family to watch our Marine. Had an amazing time listening to the history behind the parade and the fantastic performances of the The President's Own United States Marine Band, The Commandant's Own United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Silent Drill Platoon. From before the performance where the Marines greet and answer questions to the performances and afterwards when you get to interact with the distinguished guests, the Marines, and Chesty XVI! Definitely worth coming out on a Friday to enjoy a performance. Reserve your tickets ahead of time to choose a section but there isn't a bad seat in the house!

Kenneth Birkhofer: As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, it has been on my bucket list to visit Marine Barracks 8th & I. Today I made it happen and had the opportunity to reflect on the history and tradition of this monumental landmark. What an incredible experience; Semper Fi and God Bless my fellow Marines, all service members of our military, and the United States of America.

Arohra Lights: I loved this place. Full of culture, history, and motivation. The Friday evening ceremony was amazing and choked up during taps. Make sure to reserve your tickets in advance!! Everyone should go if you are visiting the DC area.

Dale Morrill: An amazing experience for all. The oldest active USMC post in the world. Get your tickets in advance online. Give yourself plenty of time to park and arrive. I found it just as easy and faster to walk from the parking location on M Street versus riding the bus. All of the Marines are extremely kind and helpful. The parade lasts about 2 hours. Marching band, Silent Drill team, Marine Corps mascot, honored guest(s), lowering of flag, Taps and more. A true honor to witness.

c walter: I would give this more stars if I could! If you visit DC, you have to attend this event! I can’t say enough! I wish I could post videos for you all to see how fantastic this is! I attended the event for July 4th. No better place to be than in our nation’s capital during this time of year-very patriotic.

Jason Harrold: Semper Fidelis! To all those who served in the beloved Marine Corps, to those who are currently serving and to those who will one day step onto the yellow footprints Semper Fi and thank you for your service. I was privileged and honored to attend a night at the Marine Corps Barracks. the Oldest and most prestigious barracks in the corps. The performance of the Marines was spectacular. I rode my motorcycle across the US from Los Angeles to DC for Memorial Day and this was a HUGE Highlight of the trip. If you are a Marine, you need to visit.

Isaac Holt: This base is the oldest USMC installation in the country. The Marine Barracks is the source of the name of the area it is situated in, Barracks Row. Every Friday evening during the summer try host an event called Evening Parade which lasts about an hour long. This event features lots of impressive drill movements and songs, all of which have a historical background much like the installation.

Rakim Means: Being a Marine and going to this place for the first time was a great experience. This place has a lot of tradition and history. We got to take a tour of the barracks and see the Commandants house. It is a little bit weird watching the Marine walk around in the camouflage uniform while out in town.

Gabriel Garcia: This is a great place to visit. Every Friday starting in May the Marine Corps put on a great show. This is the best of the best Marines. I know occasionally a special guest will make an appearance. On the day that I attended the VP of the US was there. Again this is a great place to see whether you are military or not. Go and support of Marines.

Austin Graff: On the south end of Capitol Hill's Barracks Row is the longest standing Marine barracks in the country built by Thomas Jefferson in 1801. Within the barracks is one of the oldest houses in the city built in 1803 to house the commandants of the entire Marines. The commandant still lives in the house. From March/April through August every year, the Marine band puts on free concerts on Fridays for the community. All are welcome!

&pizza - Barracks Row: what do users think?

Rishil P: Tina Marie was amazing!! She made the experience the best pizza I ever had. Everyone came together to make me feel welcome. I love these people!!

Audrey Lester: Blind Customer: I experienced fantastic customer service! At entry, walk right, down row, make left, and walk straight to reach ordering counter. Sitting is on row you walk down, so be careful. Two professional ladies completed my order. Both provided clear descriptions of all available sauces, toppings, proteins, and more. They were each patient and willing to repeat items as needed. I was provided a bag for easy carrying with napkins. To top it off, I was offered seating both for dining or waiting for bus. I’m grateful for such a wonderful experience. I gather staff have knowledge of supporting people living with blindness. Excellent!

Antony Coleman: What feels like a post-modern take on the pizza, done in the ever-popular fast casual style of the Chipotle's of the world, I can say that &pizza is a good pizza that can either be a personal or shared with one or two friends depending on your appetite. Now it is not quite the exquisite slice from a nice mom and pop, or any particular style of pizza (NY, Deep Dish, Sicilian, etc), it is definitely worth a visit and a good time for a chain pizzeria. This particular location is a busy one, but usually full of helpful, courteous and generally fun-loving staffer glad to serve you with a smile or joke (and I underscore usually, everyone has a bad day sometimes especially with the heavy loads they have at times and the work shortage from the pandemic)

Akira Arnold: Service here was exceptional. Compared to every &pizza I’ve been to—and I’ve been to a lot— this was by far the best. It’s clean and covid safe. And, the workers and so nice, considerate, and dedicated to their jobs. Plus, the atmosphere is super lively and nice. 10/10 recommend.

J Robinson: I’ve been coming to &pizza since it opened but this by far my favorite location. When I first entered I noticed the place was clean and the music was amazing. Like who doesn’t like Return of the Mack. The cherry on top is the amazing service we received from Kay and Camille. They both were knowledgeable on the best pizza combinations, toppings , and I could feel the love they put in making our food.

Jen Chon: The customer service has gotten better over the years here. It is the perfect spot for all eaters — vegan (pile on the veggies w tomato sauce; vegan cheese; vegan sausage, etc); vegetarians (many varieties of cheese); and meat eaters. They use different pizza cutters for different dietary restricted pizzas. One pizza at $11 lasts 2 meals (unless you’re hangry), and they don’t skimp on ingredients. All ingredients of items are listed on their website, which is extremely helpful for those w dietary restrictions / sensitivities / allergies. I’m quite impressed at the management practices of workers at this location; they exude a high morale, which is also another positive reason for me to continue patronizing (this) &pizza.

Nicki B: I love coming to this &Pizza location. The staff is friendly and they managed to make my meal quickly and efficiently. I also appreciate that everyone working was correctly wearing their masks.

t mac: Pizza was delicious!!!!!! Generous amount of toppings. Hot and fresh.com!!!!!!!

DeAndra Holmes: I always go here with my daughter, we get 1 pie each. We never had any issues prior, but the last 3 times we chose to order online and pickup (due to COVID). Each time we ordered online they left off or mixed up our toppings. Reading the comments I see I am not alone and this is a constant problem. Last time I told them about the mix up and they didnt seem to care. It's really left a bad taste in my mouth with this establishment

D Harrington: I haven't been to this location since early covid where I was unimpressed with the taste of my food. On 3/8/22 we picked up 2 pies, BOTH were missing items. But since we do not reside nearby we did not notice the items were missing until then. At this point we're not returning but chose to place a complaint about the order. I went from placing a complaint to not liking the lack of empathy I was getting for their incompetence, and yes I ordered shrimp which was extra that I did not get. You would think this would be a simple fix but without a picture of the pie I was told that I would not be compensated. So please if you did not get what you ordered before doing anything else TAKE A PIC of your food so that they can verify your order. Obviously customer service is not important to them because this could have been resolved 2 days ago. Now I have lost the desire of patronizing their business altogether.

National Community Church - Barracks Row: what do users think?

2chr 7:14: Too liberal of a church. Doesn’t teach the Bible. A Church for book promotions.

Autumn A: Love this Church. Solid message week after week. A friend brought me here several years ago and I was so impressed I kept coming back. I now live several states away and still listen over the Internet. I’ve also bought almost all of Pastor Mark‘s books in hard copy and via Audible. Like the Bible, ever time I read them, I learn something new. He’s a fabulous writer and a truly inspirational leader. Thank you for helping the Bible come to life for me and for keeping me coming back to Church.

Mary Harris: I attended service here once when I was visiting DC with my son. The Holy Spirit is definitely with this congregation! When I was visiting, I realized 10 minutes before service that I had lost my bank card and had no way of getting back home (which was over 4 hours away and required a gas stop or two). Instead of worrying, I prayed and asked the Lord to handle the situation while I focused on worship Sure enough, the messages during the worship songs we were singing spoke to me - they were all about how the Lord works all things for the good of those who love Him, not to worry but to trust in God, etc. It spoke to me so strongly. During that time, the Lord led me to ask the woman behind me for prayer because I was becoming distracted with the gravity of my situation. I did and she was so gracious and willing to pray over me. After worship, she asked me how much it would take to get me and my young son back home and gave me more than enough money after service to cover not just my travel expenses, but the excursions and meals we had planned. I was brought to tears with gratitude. Her generosity and willingness to give has stuck with me to this day. Only those led by the Holy Spirit would be willing to give that much to a complete stranger. The people here are clearly pastored well - not just hearing the gospel but living by Christ's example. The message from the pastor was on point, too. It was exactly what I needed to hear and inspired me to share my testimony with my neighbor who, soon after, came to the Lord. She's now following Christ and making disciples of others. It's beautiful to see! God certainly has His mighty hand on this church. It was a home away from home for me 😊💗

Tomi Collins: This is an anointed Spirit filled church. We were here visiting the Lord definitely showed up. It was an awesome refreshing experience. The pastor delivered a message we have continued to reflect on since Saturday evening. We were thankful for the Saturday night service it made it convenient for her schedule. There are also multiple Sunday service times.

Sean Cole: We visited from out of town and loved it. The volunteers were super nice and helpful. The worship service was rocking and full of the Spirit. And the message was authentic and from the heart. Great for those who know God and are far from God.

Corey B: Messages are great! Small groups excellent! Pastors are all on point. I like the spirit in this church the most. I also like that you can go in and not feel like you are put on the spot.

Anton Johnson: Absolutely amazing community, location is easily accessible by metro. The service is fantastic. I have been with NCC for two and a half years and as long as I live in Dc I will continue attending there service.

C Dessus: Inviting church! They serve coffee and donuts in the morning. Most of the time, the sermon in on a screen prerecorded. Worship is nice.

C.S. Griffel: National Community Church has a great vision to do something meaningful for the Kingdom of God in D.C. and I really appreciate that. They work hard to be welcoming and remain true to the Gospel.

Yulia Lama: The worship makes you feel like you're in heaven worshipping. The pastors preach the truth of the Gospel. Was weary about attending, but two years later still attend.

Extreme Pizza - Barracks Row: what do users think?

Jon Baker: Stopped by on a whim, ordered the wingin’ it and the boar’der. Fabulous. Great flavors, excellent crust, nice staff, great price. $21.89 for two 10 inch individual pizzas.
Response: Jon, it was nice talking to you. And we are pleased that you liked our food. Thanks for the kind words. Hope to see you again. :)

Mike G: Stopped by this newly reopened shop. Had the Wingin't Pizza. Service was great, staff was friendly. Pizza was REALLY good. Great crust, awesome flavor. Pretty quiet, as it has just reopened, but the place is looking good. Can't wait for them to get their beer license and service up and running. Looking forward to enjoying many more meals from here. Stop by, you will be glad you did.
Response: Thanks Mike for the review. We will have beer the next time you stop by. We look forward to see you again. :)

Mark Meader: Just came back from a pre-opening “friends and family” night at Extreme Pizza. They should be opening their doors to the public in just a day or two. My pepperoni, mushroom and olive pizza was piping hot and delicious. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are friendly and attentive. It’s also located in a great spot on Barracks Row. The interior space is perfect with a layout that can’t be beat!
Response: Hi Mark, Thanks SO much for taking the time to share your experience with the World. We are opening this weekend and every kind word is music to our ears! Look forward to seeing you again soon. All the best! The Extreme Team

Jami Studer: We had a great experience dining here with our family. Loved that we could get pizza by the (large) slice, especially for the kids! Nice atmosphere and very tasty pizza. I also had the Greek salad, which was delicious.
Response: Thank you, Jami. We are glad that you and your family had great time at Extreme Pizza. :)

Joaquin Perez-Bahloul: Here the pizza is great, with reasonable prices! The customer service is also amazing as it is clear that the employees are actually trying to get you what you need instead of rob you of your cash, as they are very generous and kind! Would totally recommend!
Response: Hi Joaquin, All I can saw is WOW and THANKS! This review just made our day and we truly do love making our guests part of our family. Can't wait to see you again!

John Velarde: They just reopened. Ate here today. They were doing a free pizza promotion and it gave me a chance to try their pizza. I had the Kicken Chicken which is a Thai style chicken pizza! Really good pizza! I recommend it!
Response: Hi John! We're so happy that you enjoyed the free pizza during our staff training week. That Kickin Chicken packs a little heat so we're glad it didn't scare you off! We've officially opened (limited hours this week) but look forward to ramping up and getting to meet all of our new neighbors! Can't wait to see you again! All the best! The Extreme Team

Tom Cymer: Went back to this place after the recent reopening under new management and I'm upping my review to 5 stars from 2. The new staff and management were fantastic. They got our order right and the food was amazing. Hands down best pizza in DC! Their vegan pizza options are amazing and customizable!
Response: Tom, you tried Extreme Pizza twice, and it failed you twice last year. We reopened two weeks ago with different owners, management and team. I can’t speak about what happened with the last owners and mangers with their shortage of vegan cheese. But, I assure you we do it better now. Please try us again, my treat. barracks.ops@eatextreme.com Thank you. Extreme Pizza Team

Mallie McDaniel: Came in on a Sunday afternoon. Staff was super friendly. Pizza was some of the best I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend.
Response: Hi Mallie, We really appreciate your kind words and strong recommendation! Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Marie J: Stopped in today to get a veggie slice...was met with a warm welcome from two ladies:) If the pizza taste as good as their customer service and I'm sure it will, this will definitely be a family stop.
Response: Thank you Marie for the review. Indeed, Extreme Pizza is a family stop place.

Tony Unger: Walked in when they were closing up and the lady offered to make us pizza anyway! Very delicious pizza and customer service second to none! Keep it up
Response: Thank you, Tony. I will forward your kind words to her. :)
