Cozymeal Cooking Classes: what do users think?

Valerie Damond: Last night twelve members of my family experienced a truly remarkable Spanish dinner. Chef Greg presented us with a very relaxing and utterly delicious meal. Every course was beautifully displayed and clearly constructed with the best ingredients. He and his helper served us and left the kitchen immaculate. If you would like to experience an expertly crafted Spanish cuisine, I highly recommend Chef Greg.

D H: I had my Cozymeal event today. I have never participated in an online cooking class before, and I must say it was great! My daughter and I took the class making the Chinese dumplings with Chef Li. Chef Li was great and while making the recipes really gave good information on the Chinese culture and the different types of substitutions to use in the event you are not able to get a specific ingredient. She made suggestions regarding kitchen utensils and made sure that all of us were on track with her during her instruction. My only difficulty was with the recipes being in grams and not in US measurements. It would be nice to have both listed. I live in a very rural area and this option of online cooking classes is such a welcome experience. I would definitely take another class!!

Benjamin Bowden: Really enjoyed having Chef Tiffany cook for my girlfriend and me. Great food, great conversation, and a generally excellent evening. One note: she arrived 45 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time, when nobody was home. Her early arrival was a positive, as the meal took a few hours to prepare, but Cozymeal should communicate better with the clients about true arrival time. Bottom line: Tiffany provided an excellent French meal, all cooked from scratch, with fresh ingredients. Moreover, there were leftovers! Really looking forward to my next Cozymeal experience.

Alison Ponzi: We had an evening full of freshly made pasta, bruschetta, and bread pudding with Chef Tiffany. I bought a KitchenAid mixer last year with the pasta attachment, and she was open to teaching me how to use it. She also worked with us on our likes/dislikes allowing us to choose a different appetizer. All in all it was a successful night with great food, company, and conversation.

Grace Morrissey: I loved the class. Chef Li's technique was easy to understand. I just need to practice more. I am making the dumplings again this week. They were delicious. The cabbage salad won a big spot in my heart..., I will make it often. Looking forward to do another class with Chef Li

Steven Sacks: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueMy girlfriend and I took the Festival of Indian Flavor with Chef Manjiri. It was such a wonderful experience - she clearly explained the agenda for the class, told us about herself, explained all the ingredients, and then helped us through all four recipes with both laughter and fun. What a great time!

Theano Kampani: Really enjoyed having Chef Greg cook for my husband and me. Great food, and great conversation! We highly recommend Chef Greg and his Spanish dishes. The star of the menu was the dessert for us :)

Kathleen Norwood: This was a wonderful experience. Chef Gustavo was a delightful host and instructor He shared knife and preparation tips as well as the history of the food. The food was muy rico and we came away with many tips to make prep easier and food tastier for making a yummy paella as well as other dishes. Chef Gustavo created a welcoming, warm and relaxed evening. Thank you, Chef Gutavo!

Jeanne Liu: We took the Festival of Indian Flavors class with Chef Manjiri and it was wonderful! She explained everything and her recipe was fast and not intimidating. What we made was so delicious and I can't wait to try out one of her other classes. Do not hesitate to book one of Chef Manjiri's classes!

Niki Holmes: We had an amazing experience with Chef Judith. Her recipes were easy; we had great company; and the Chef taught us some very useful techniques. --Plus--The food tasted so delicious!

CulinAerie: what do users think?

Ryan McGorty: Culinaerie is one of, if not, the most well-known recreational cooking school in the area. They offer a lot of different cooking instruction to aspiring cooking enthusiasts of all different skill levels. They have an online calendar that shows which classes are available and when. The classes book fast, so be ready to book if you see one you like. You can take individual classes on a class-by-class interest basis, or participate in a series of classes designed to improve your skills through a structured course. If you want to take a knife skills class, learn how to make Thai food, or even make tapas, they have a wide offering of options. The actual location consists of two instruction kitchens, with one being significantly larger than the other. The instructor leads the class through the cooking demonstration and there are overhead TVs and assistants in the room to help in case you need it. The instructor usually walks around while you are cooking/preparing food to give you tips. I went here for a date night cooking class and we had a very good experience. We learned a new recipe which we’ve cooked on our own at home. It is pretty expensive, but it made for a great experience.

Michael Alexander: We came here for my fiancé’s employer’s Christmas party. It was a fantastic! I love to cook and pursue it as a serious hobby. The instructor was great. She was patient with those who did not know techniques and gave pointers to those of us with working culinary knowledge. I will be planning a family function here in future.

M. Marzulla: We did the "Date Night: Craft Cocktails & Small Plates from Mexico City" with Eliza Gonzalez and it was fantastic! The instructions were easy to follow and the dishes were delicious! It was fun learning how to make the cocktails as well, and both instructors were super friendly and helpful! I definitely recommend signing up for one of the date night courses, it turned out to be one of the best dates we have had in a while!

Joanna Claustro: Attended a daytime class with my husband and we both had a wonderful time. The class is well organized and the menu was easy to follow -- which means we can try it again at home! The wine pairings were great (and constantly refilled!) and we were impressed by how delicious the meal turned out. We felt like professionals! We can't wait to return for another class!

The Cosmetology Coach: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueI have just completed my first session of the Beginner's Series with Chef Susan Holt. I will forever use my knife the Chef way. My Wonter Vegetable Gratin was to die for....OMG...can't wait for the next session. Thanks for sharing your expertise with us.
Response: Thank you so much for your wonderful words! It was such a pleasure to have you in class, and we look forward to seeing you next week!

Mark H: We are extremely lucky to have CulinAerie here in DC. I've taken two courses--knife skills with Susan Holt, and four fabulous fish with Wendi James--and both were superb. Excellently designed, organized, and executed, with no shortage of humor and constant helpfulness. I came as a total novice and the combination of practical kitchen skills and great recipes has given me confidence to start making some of the dishes I so enjoy when made by the pros. Looking forward to the next one!

Brittany Gerig Campbell: We had a fantastic experience at the couples cooking and wine pairing class. High quality food, helpful assistants, and an instructor who was a former chef and really knew her stuff. Wine was free-flowing and we never felt rushed. Would definitely come back!

Gerrit Davis: This is a high quality service for a high quality price. I've had two really good experiences here. One suggestion (and reason for 3 stars instead of 5): do not buy a gift certificate to use if you will be in the area for less than a year. Class availability (especially in the winter) is *extremely* limited due to demand. Despite this fact, and even if your scheduled classes are cancelled, CulinAerie sticks to a rigid policy of no refunds on gift certificates.

Amanda Burkholder: We took a bread making class at CulinAerie and had a blast! The teacher was knowledgeable and clear. We made four different kinds of bread and got to take it home. The class took about three hours, which included instruction, mixing, kneading, and baking the bread. They served complimentary wine, coffee and tea during the class which was a great touch. We will definitely take a class from CulinAerie again!

Vanessa: Took a french macaron class over the weekend. It was actually a really fun experience! The macarons came out so much better than I anticipated! I thought for sure we would bomb the recipe. What makes this experience fun is sitting at the same table with fun friendly people :) The chef was good, though a bit curt. The staff that was helping was really nice. I would definitely come back to do this again. Great date night idea, or something fun to do with friends.

Tiny Chefs: what do users think?

Linda Brown: I cannot express how pleased I was with my grandson's experience with Tiny Chefs. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly at Dawson's Market. Natalia (the instructor) was bubbly and full of energy. She made the experience fun as the children cooked. My grandson is an aspiring Masterchef Junior so he had a GREAT time!! We will be going back. I appreciate the experience.
Response: Yay!! Thank you for your post and feedback!

Julya Fridman: I invited Tiny Chefs to conduct a cooking class at my home in CT for my daughter’s birthday party. She and all 11 of her 4-10 year old guests greatly enjoyed the party! In fact, after the class was over, my daughter requested to do it again next year. For 2 hours, two Tiny Chefs staff members were working with the kids, allowing adults (parents) some time to catch up and the best part was that the kids got to enjoy their own creations at the end. I would highly recommend Tiny Chefs!
Response: Awesome, thank you much!

Lauren Barber: I cannot say enough positive things about Tiny Chefs. My son came home so enthusiastic about cooking. He insisted on making an entire meal including dessert for the entire family. The employees couldn't have been more friendly and were so helpful to the children in addition, it was very well run. We will definitely sign up for another class!!!
Response: Thank you so much for your comments and will look forward to seeing your son again!!

Kristina Woo: I signed my son up for a summer camp hosted by tiny chefs. He really loved it, and he is one to do something one day and not want to return the next; but this time he kept wanting to go back!! He had confidence in the things they taught him and was excited to share! I will definitely be sending him to more classes hosted by Tiny Chefs!
Response: Yes! We love to inspire. Thank you for your post!

Suzy Ghannam: Wonderful experience! We had a birthday party for my 9 year old and it was loved by all! The girls really felt proud of their work and enjoyed every moment. I had ZERO to worry about! Tiny Chefs did an amazing job! Would highly recommend for those who want a worry-free event!
Response: Thank you very much!

Bethany Clemmons: My 7 year old daughter absolutely loved this program. She enjoys cooking, so we enrolled her in an after-school Tiny Chefs class, and ahe came home every tome bouncing-excited about what she'd made. We also get the recipes through email, so they can make their favorites again at home. Thanks!

Carolyn Fruzzetti: My daughter really enjoys the Tiny Chefs camps. The curriculum is well-planned and the staff is professional. I am a culinary school graduate and am pleased with the educational and fun cooking environment (where they clean up their own mess!).
Response: Thank you for your comments! We really appreciate the time you took to provide us with feedback. We look forward to seeing your daughter at a future event!

Elise Kohan: Tiny Chefs came into our school to teach our students how to make a healthy meal without using electricity. The students learned that they can create a meal for themselves when their parents are not home. This cooking experience fostered their creativity and teamwork skills. Our Chefs came into the classroom with experience and behavior management skills. I will definitely book Tiny Chefs again to use for our school's Cooking Term.
Response: Thank you so much for your awesome review!

Thomas Page, Jr: My 10 year old loved it- evidently one of her favorite summer camps- ever! Had to order her to bring some of her efforts home as she kept eating everything she made; and what she brought back was delicious! She now wants to go to more baking and cooking based camps.
Response: I love this, very exciting to hear and our personal goal is for our campers to be inspired. Thank you for sharing.

tom parkins: My 3 year old daughter likes pizza and chocolate pudding so I signed us for up for the Tiny Chefs "Pizza & Dirt with Dad" event at Mamma Lucia’s in Bethesda. The online ad looked good and even included a video of kids making & baking personal size pizzas at their events. So I paid the $60 event fee and went to Mamma Lucia’s on Father’s Day. We quickly learned that the ‘pizza’ was actually a small, cold, flour tortilla with raw toppings; that’s right, unbaked ‘pizza’ at an Italian Pizza restaurant. While sitting at the table in disbelief with other parents, I double checked the Tiny Chefs website on my cell phone. After scrolling thru the ad again, the word “pizza” appeared 7 times and at the very bottom of the ad in small print it did say “Pizza, Pizza Roll Up” however there was no mention of an ‘unbaked’ pizza product. My daughter took two bites and threw it away. I mentioned our dissatisfaction to the instructor at the event and she said that ‘she just works there but she would tell management.’ Not confident that would happen, I sent an email to Tiny Chefs management, not something I wanted to do on Father’s Day. Needless to say, after receiving six patronizing emails from them over the next few days, I was informed that they decided to offer an ‘unbaked’ pizza product for safety reasons but chose not to disclose that in their ads; that is misleading! So I googled images of ‘Pizza Roll Ups’ and all of the pictures show baked pizza roll ups. But management dismissed that and felt that $60 was reasonable for a cold, flour tortilla with raw toppings. Really??? So to appease me, I was offered a coupon good towards a future purchase of another Tiny Chefs event worth $30. And risk putting myself through another experience like this with misleading advertising, overpriced ‘pizza’ (or similar food product) and receive yet more dismissive communications from their corporate office? No thank you. So parents, Buyer Beware of Tiny Chefs. Read the fine print & ask questions before purchasing because they don’t offer a customer satisfaction guarantee; and once they have your credit card number, your money is gone. Avoid the disappointment, misleading advertising, overpriced food, unscrupulous business practices and aggravation in dealing with a condescending management team. I just discovered that Wegmans offers a kids cooking class for $10 where you get a large, hot pizza – imagine that! Caveat Emptor!
Response: Thanks for your review Tom. We always aim to please our kids and parents and know you were sadly disappointed with the menu option. We have implemented a customer satisfaction guarantee and hope you will return to a future Tiny Chefs event!

The Sweet Lobby: what do users think?

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: **Disclosure** I DROPPED THE CUPCAKE BOX...AGAIN!! So please pardon the pictures...I snapped what I could!! Ok I’ve slid pass this place many a day, not knowing what they sold. I’m LATE...I know!! So I slowed my role, I stopped in, and was awestruck by alluring baked goods scent, and the visually stunning set up of cupcakes & macaroons they have!! Better late than never is what they say right? Riiigghhttt!! Well I’m glad I stopped @thesweetlobby located at 404 8th St., S.E. Washington DC!! Ok this spots cupcakes are baked daily, are void of shortening, and come in too many flavors to name here!! Here’s some of the cupcakes I copped (pictured at $3.25 ea.); The Red velvet, The Boston Cream pie, The infinity chocolate, Lemon, salted caramel, The Carrot Cake, The Strawberry, The S’mores, and The Chocolate crunch cupcake!! So I smashed the Infinity cupcake before leaving the area...moist, rich, flavorful...simply decadent!! Truly what a cupcake is supposed to be!! I tried ONE macaroon whilst in store via the delightful mangers suggestion. They got me!! I wasn’t even in there for the macaroons...but again, I’m glad I snatched them up. I got a six pack at $2.10 each. Flavors included Chocolate, Birthday Cake, Lemon, Strawberry, their liquor infused Green Apple, and their uniquely flavored spicy rose macaroons. Y’all...the price for the cookies are WORTH IT!! They are that much of a delicacy. They are REALLY flavored well...if you get a Lemon macaroon...it taste like straight up lemon!! Get these...TRUST!! The my also have liquor infused cookies, and cupcakes!! Customer service was of the utmost quality (it’s a intimate space so you get a really good experience while there). Parking is rough, metered, and on a busy 8th street!! Overall this spot has got my loyalty...you can’t deny how delicious their products are!! It’s hard to chose just one flavor. I’ll be back!! That’s it!! #macarons #cupcakes #deliciousness #thesweetlobbydc #goodness #blackownedbusiness #bigschlimsreviews #flavors #deliciouseats #dcfoodie #smores #chocolate #strawberry #carrotcake #greenapple #rich #palatepleaser #musthaves #thatsit

Christopher Thompson: Rarely do i write reviews, but the macaroons and cupcakes here are superb. I’m not huge fan of cupcakes but the strawberry champagne is delicious, buttery and moist. And the macaroons - holy smokes 🤤...i wasn’t expecting such flavor. The wait was long as there were 4 customers ahead of me, but well worth it.

Lezora Arter: I ordered a dozen cupcakes for my thirty - something year old daughter . The person taking my order was very courteous and patient. The packaging was impeccable . The cupcakes were delicious ! I had to order one special cupcake for my five year old granddaughter too. It was placed in a little box & my granddaughter was super delighted. I was more than satisfied.

Raquel Snowden: I purchased cupcakes for a family members 55th birthday. When we cut into the lemon cupcake, they found what appears to be mold. I am so upset! I have been going to SL for years and this was the 1st time something like this occurred. Soooooooooo Disappointed! I would have called to share this info with the bakery directly but it appears that the phone number that was previously listed has been removed, hence the posting.

Aurelie Boissy: I was just curious to try these cupcakes because their texture and design look so yummy! I picked up a chocolate/vanilla which didn’t feel very fresh, maybe It’s because I got there right before closing and the cake was sitting there for long but it tasted like it was there all day! On the other side, the piña colada was so soft and yummy; I regret not taking 2 of this! I think price is fair for the amount!

Christina Zielke: Updated: When I finally got ahold of the owner she got my order delivered right away. The cupcakes were amazing - moist and delicious. I do wish they had labeled them in some way as we ordered a mix but they were so good. The macarons had great flavor but a couple flavors were a bit dry. Overall I’d definitely get their cupcakes again but I’d probably get macarons elsewhere and not online order/ ask for delivery. I placed an online order for delivery for a birthday several days in advance. I called the morning of to confirm the order. When it came time for delivery nothing arrived. I waited an hour, attempted to call the bakery half a dozen times and was unable to reach anyone. We paid extra for service fees to order online, delivery fee and tip but no delivery, no communication. I would not recommend online ordering especially if you need something at a specific time . I will update my review to take into account actual review of products if I ever receive a delivery.

Kiley Mccarty: DO NOT order from The Sweet Lobby! I ordered 2 dozen cupcakes for Friday, Jan 21 and when I went to pick up, no one was at the bakery! I tried to call multiple times but no one answered. I never received a phone call back or refund of my money! Beware!

M. Simone Boyd: I ordered a gift set for a friend’s birthday in February and it still has not arrived. Twice they’ve said that it has shipped. I’ve requested a refund, and I will not be ordering from them again. This coincides with what others have said about Sweet Lobby’s lack of customer service.

Olga Kashirina: I think it was the worst macarons I ever tried: overly dry, crispy and the filling inside is just a buttercream. We tried 7 different flavors but they all tasted the same. It’s not even close to French macarons. Disappointing

Jeff Bredt: The place may not look the best from the outside, but it's what's inside that counts! Top-notch product that will be my new go-to now that Ladure in Union Station is unavailable. I can't wait to try the wide selection of Macrons, and if they match the intrigue of the cupcakes, I will be re-visiting this review.

Buttercream Bakeshop: what do users think?

Megan Barnes: The cake of my dreams was created by Tiffany at Buttercream. When we did our tasting I was blown away at how I would be able to choose as every flavor was better than the last. She did an incredible job pulling our English garden vibe together for a beautiful cake on our wedding day.
Response: Thank you so much Megan!! You were such a JOY to work with. We are beyond grateful for word full clients like you!!!

Elizabeth Meltzer: These cream puffs were THE HIT for our small backyard wedding reception! We had a cake (not provided by Buttercream), but, it was overshadowed by these delicious puffs. Everyone asked where we got them, and kept going back to get more or try to choose one with a different flavor (we had mocha and vanilla). These are unlike anything I've had from anywhere else - just absolute perfection. Having something fancy and unexpected like this really made our unconventional wedding feel a little more special. I even had a friend sneak several into my car so I would be sure to have a few as we drove away (because you can be sure that there were no leftovers!) Thank you Buttercream!
Response: Wowowow! What an amazing review. Thank you for taking the time to share this. Honestly, the cream puffs are a staff favorite so I'm happy you love them as much as we do. (Pro tip - be sure to try the birthday cake cream filled puffs when we *finally* re-open)

Jane L: I ordered a Best of Buttercream Box back in August. Just catching up with my review now. Quarantine inspired me to try a lot of local businesses and discovering pastry boxes was a fun twist on ordering takeout. Buttercream's Best of box is offered every few weeks in advance online and you don't know what's in it until a day or two before pick-up. You know there will be 6-7 pieces and it costs $37. Check out my photos to see what I got. All of the pastries I got were high quality, rich, and delicious. For me, however, they were too sweet. I split each piece with my Mom and I still couldn't finish any of them in one sitting. I would have preferred a lighter touch. I think other people would be completely in heaven, though. The ordering and pick up process is super quick and I loved that the chef actually handed me my box with some tips on storing.

Chels Owens: Looooooooove their cake and cupcakes! These people are top notch and make high quality baked goods, you will not be disappointed. I got a gorgeous unicorn cake from them that was a huge hit with my friends and I got myself a cotton candy cupcake that was the absolute best.

Tina P: First, the customer service was really good. I was running late for my pick up and it was not a problem, the girl I spoke with was very nice. The cupcakes were beautifully presented and tasted great. I ordered the gluten free elderflower lemon cupcakes with blackberry jam. My boyfriend has an allergy, so we've been on the hunt for really good gluten free cupcakes. These were light, fluffy and moist. Will shop there again for our pastry needs!

nitubw: This is my go to bakery for special ordering celebration cakes! Buttercream makes it easy to order online and provide ideas for specialty cakes. My older daughter loved her Wonder Woman cake! It was honestly looked almost too good to eat. Almost. She had her favorite flavor, S’mores. They made my younger daughter’s Moana dream come true with her birthday cake which also incorporated her favorite flavor: Vanilla cake with lemon curd and strawberry buttercream (despite it not being on their menu at that time). The cake was the right amount of sweet and the buttercream was fantastic. My husband had also purchased one of their peek-a-boo cakes (Elderflower soaked lemon cake with blackberry jam and vanilla buttercream) for my birthday. Let’s just say this family of four devoured it!

Kay Chevalier: I was in DC for the weekend and my Airbnb was close to the bakery; I’m too embarrassed to admit the number of times I stopped in to get another treat. Everything I tried was amazing! Like AMAZING!!! Their savory breakfast roll was super. The one I had was filled with egg, cheese, & sausage. The Queen Bee was flakey and soft and buttery and sugary, a perfect balance. Oh my, I want one just thinking about it. Ps.- their unicorn hot chocolate is adorable!

Mackenzie Jandernoa: Super cute and friendly spot! The Reese peanut butter cup cookie bar was absolutely phenomenal and worth every bite. I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie and the half brownie/half cookie bar as well, however, the funfetti cupcake was a huge miss for me; this certainly could be due to personal preference. It just didn’t have much flavor. More specifically, the frosting was super bland. Overall, it’s still worth stopping in and checking out the variety of treats they have to offer!

Kate Morton: Buttercream was good, the gluten free snickers brownie was tasty but I did hope there would be more gluten free options. My date said the triple chocolate cupcake was good though the icing could’ve been more flavorful.

Loree Lipstein: Cake is literally my favorite food... I've been known to eat upwards of 8 pieces of wedding cake at other weddings. I'm rather famous for it actually. So for my own wedding, the cake was one of the most important things to me. I wanted it to be GOOD cake above all else -- a pretty cake that doesn't taste amazing is not really cake! Buttercream knocks it out of the park on both fronts. The cake is as delicious as cake can get -- truly insane. And they offer so many amazing flavors! We ended up with three different ones because it was so hard to choose. And then on top of the cake being absolutely amazing... their designs are gorgeous. We did both a traditional beautiful cake and a fun groomscake that we designed special. Both exceeded our expectations. If you're in the DC Metro area, you must work with Buttercream!
Response: Congratulations!!! We were so thrilled to be part of your big day and this review is the icing on the cake cake. We LOVED both of your designs ~ thank YOU for letting us be a part of such a special memory for you and your husband (!!)

All American Bakery: what do users think?

Shalette Brown: I’d like to say that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I have ppl trying to hook me up or get me to use their products and services but I typically refuse, cause I love All American Bakery and what they have to offer, from the point system, to the birthday special / complimentary offering, to the friendly and welcoming staff I’ve had the pleasure to meet and interact with. The environment is very down to earth and honestly I can go on and on. I just wish there was a location closer to where I live, but bets believe I make it work and still travel approximately an hour to visit their north capital street location.

Dion Thomas: Extremely terrible customer service. Store allegedly opens at 9 but had me sitting in the lobby for 30 mins. When the lady finally started working; mind you again, 30 mins LATE, she had a horrible attitude and acts as if she is doing me a favor that I was spending my money.. this is supposed to be a business. You’ll get better customer service from a street corner.. will never shop at this place again

Inaya Molina: This place is fantastic! It’s always reliable and has the most friendly staff. Special shout-out to Mo and Dee for being so patient and helpful with the recommendations. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Thy Neighbor: Not in the greatest location of DC but they treat you like family ! I love coming here . Ever since I found them online they have become my go to store for my needs ! Security is great! Very professional!! Staff is professional as well and they always treat you with kindness. Keep it up guys!!

Antonio Jones Special Educator: I've been coming here for years and just noticed the debit card scam that they have going on. I purchased 2 prerolls, which comes to $22 with taxes, fees, etc. Each time that I use my card, they charge $28 instead. They said it's an ATM fee. Other dispensaries have a similar policy; however, they at least give u the ATM fee back in cash. Not only does All American Bakery keep the ATM fee, they over charge you and then offer you a mask that you can get for free, anywhere in DC. BS to the max. USE CASH ONLY!!!!!

I M: Always, Always friendly staff. Love coming here the past year and a half. I usually find something good. Ok, so the past 2 times I was told something was there and when I went it wasn't. No worries, I can easily substitute. Best staff hands down. Tree I had was fire, edibles always hit.

REEL LIVE T.V: Terrible Company For Employment... I say that because I had completed a full interview process 2 zoom meeting and was sent to be tested for COVID-19 twice, paying money for parking and gas. I was offered the position and received an offer of 41,600 salary position as manager. I was told to show up at work and call HR upon arrival. I did that and was told not to enter the building, with no explanation and I wasn't able to contact anyone from the higher ups to solve this issue. Eventually someone contacted me to tell me my schedule. I showed up on time the building was closed. I think as a professional company I wouldn't give them .5 stars, Terrible communication and business ethics. Sad Sad Sad is all I can say and wouldn't recommend anyone to spend a dime with these people.

Juan McCrory: The customer service here is top notch! Perfectly convenient and courteous.

Andrew Hur (FinalWord): Sells fake products. When products do not work they will not replace. Massively over priced. Avoid, there are much better places

Upper 3 Moon: The two cashiers Dearra (probably spelling it wrong) and Nay were very helpful in helping me pick an amazing flower as well as teaching about the different vaping you guys offer, will definitely be back!

Firehook Bakery: what do users think?

Luke: I love this place. Excellent pastries, cakes, coffee, bread, and more. Seriously, DC is lucky to have this place. Staff are really nice and it's a comfy space to sit and relax. There's nice sunshine in the early morning at the sidewalk tables and window. Check it out!

Molly Cooper: I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! We both got an americano (one hot, one iced) with oat milk. It was only around $8 which for DC I was expecting way more. The people working were so nice! I also grabbed sugar to put in it but it didn’t need it at all! This is the best coffee I’ve had in ages! It made me so happy :) thanks guys!!

Trip Taker: This is a gem of a place! We went there 3 mornings in a row! Their sausage breakfast croissant is top notch. Cheese Danish is solid and their desserts are good quality. We tried what we thought was lemon meringue pie...turns out it was a passion fruit meringue. Not what we were expecting but good nonetheless. The customer service is good...right after walking in the door someone greets you and asks if they can help. Seems like a basic concept but post-covid it seems like it's not so basic with the new help or lack of help. Firehook is a must-try!

P. B.: Possibly the nicest coffee and goodies I have tasted in Washington.Excellent service, with friendly staff.Try the Almond Biscotti as treat for home.

Sonia Chlup: What a lovely bakery. Friendly staff, well priced pastries. Will be back before leaving Washington.

Mary P: Ordered two cakes here. Vanilla strawberry was very good 4/5 stars. The chocolate mouse cake- the mouse was delicious, but the cake was dry and had no flavor! Everyone agreed mouse was the only good part about that cake. Didn’t taste like chocolate at all 2/5. Easy ordering and pickup. They had no bag for two large cake boxes so bring your own. Also, one box had frosting on the bottom so we had to ask to be re-boxed so we wouldn’t get on our clothes. Would try again but not order the chocolate mouse cake.

Hanna Foreman: The coffee and pastries here are at great prices for the area. Highly recommend the lattes and cappuccinos here. The cookies are to die for and highly recommend the ginger cookies. Croissants here could be a little warmer, but the savory ones are generous with the cheese. The staff is always super friendly.

Manasi Kabadi: Love this bakery. They have so much variety. Their breads are really good too.

Maureen “SooHyunFan”: I got the lemon poppy pound cake because one of the workers said it's tasty. However, it's very dry and the texture is like that of sand! What a waste of money! Maybe some of their baked goods are good but the pound cakes are not.

Michael C: The cakes aren’t very good. Mine was soggy and tasteless

Sunflower Bakery: what do users think?

Jules Polonetsky: Lovely baked items created by very special people. Spend your money and support independence and training for the employees. Gluten free options available.

Keli Dimari: I'm truly delighted at Sunflower Bakery's mission; to me, it's admirable that people try to be kind and provide the opportunity for others to grow and refine a skill, and I understand that making a place like this bakery requires a lot of guts and a ton of grit to achieve. Even for a place with a mission, if their food isn't amazing, it isn't enough. The main reason I went today was to see if it was tasty...if it was really delicious and amazing, because all the good intent in the world doesn't make food more tasty, and I have a severely-dairy-allergic (needs epi pen) 2-year-old that I was desperately trying to find a genuinely tasty birthday cake for. I was hoping this bakery would be yummy enough that it could become the bakery I get stuff from, for my extremely allergic and pretty durn picky kiddo. I purchased several items, just to get a baseline of things. It is a great little bakery, with a ton of but free, dairy free, and vegan options. The lemon bars and chocolate crackle cookie are excellent; I tested one chocolate cookie in my car, at a stoplight, and then pulled over at a gas station to eat four more. The chocolate cracked cookies are that good. They are extremely chocolatey, really decadent, like a brownie corners on the outside of the cookie, and the middle of the softest brownie ever on the inside of the cookie....if it weren't for the calorie count, I could polish off the whole container by myself. These are the best soft chocolate cookies I've ever had. There were so few left, I migrated them to a ziplock bag to save space. There were about thrice as many a few hours ago. They are perfect for coffee or tea. The lemon bars are also beautifully balanced; I can totally see why they are a crowd favorite. It has a thin golden brown crust that's a tiny bit chewy and very crumbly, and a really good filling. Unlike regular store-bought, or even those found at most restaurants, the filling in these lemon bars was not overly sweet. I prefer my lemon bars a bit more tart, but I'm also the weirdo that tends to double the lemon and lemon zest in most recipes. It was really, really good. If you get one item from Sunflower Bakery, and you're not allergic to and rather like lemon, I would strongly recommend the lemon bars. The challah bread was light and fluffy and had a nice bounce to it, the tahini cookies are very crumbly but a bit salty (is that normal?), but had a good sesame flavor. The macarons were surprisingly really good, considering the filling had no dairy at all. If you didn't tell me it had no dairy, I couldn't have told you there was anything unusual; well flavored, nice chewy texture, they were beautiful and there were four of each flavor. I loved them quite a bit. The berry lemon loaf was flavorful but a bit too sweet, and not enough lemon....would've liked a little more lemon zest or a little more berry flavor. Overall was just sweet and sort of average; not bad, because fresh baked goods are generally delicious....but it could be so much more, you know? I wish it were more flavorful. I wouldn't mind if they bumped up the price by a bit or reduced the size, if it had more flavor. The only thing I got that I really didn't like was the Almond Berry cake. For me, personally, it was way too sweet/overly sugary and didn't taste enough like almond or berries. They needed to intensify one or both flavors, and could probably cut the sugar in the icing by half. As it was, it was too in-your-face-sugar-coma-ish. We didn't finish it and ended up crumbling bits of the cake into homemade ice-cream...(we just reduced the sugar in the ice-cream recipe, instead). However, that could just be me....maybe that cake is intended for young kids and just had a lot of sugar in it. I don't know. It seemed sort of out of place compared to the tastes and textures of the other items I got. Overall, loved the bakery and definitely will go back again. This is definitely the bakery I'm getting the birthday cake from, and I'm sure we will be back many more times before and after.

Barbi Wood: Found this bakery through a blog recommendation and I'm so glad I did. I live in Kansas and had my order plus two other orders shipped to Missouri and Tennessee. Everything was great from beginning to end. Ordering online was super easy, all three shipments arrived on time and in great shape. The cookies are delicious!!! I'm very pleased with my purchases.

Jack Luxemburg: Though out of the way in an industrial part of Rockville, it is worth the trip. The baked goods are excellent even if the selection is somewhat limited. That the bakery is also a training and employment center for people with disabilities makes buying there doubly good. There are a range of products that are gluten free, vegetarian and maybe vegan.

Michael Shuman: Very good pastries and supporting a good cause.

Sydnye White: Sunflower Bakery nailed the individually wrapped treats for the school faculty and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. Muffins on Tuesday and cute cookies on Wednesday.

Mary Eva RB: I placed an order through their website, and It came perfectly and delicious.I recommend them, not only because the bakery goods also because their mission.

Tatiana Harris: Love baking there so much fun.

Michael Palan: Excellent bakery with a great mission full of heart and deliciousness. It was Purim and needed hamantaschen, and luckily I stumbled upon Sunflower Bakery. Their ‘taschen were super soft and super yummy. They were better than my mother-in-law’s homemade ones. Shhhh don’t tell her. Can’t wait to return to try something new!

Anthony Schweiss: Amazing food and amazing people.! Give it a try

Sur La Table: what do users think?

Fonsetta Badger Brown: The cooking class was loads of fun. Pressure cooked short ribs, mushr!ooms risotto and cheesecake with caramel sauce.. The instructor was awesome!

Tatiana Padilla: Finally got to do a class in person after joining several virtual ones, we LOVED the experience! It was my Christmas gift to my mom and best friend, it was fun— delicious— and they couldn’t wait to try the recipes at home. Lots of hands on practice, PLENTY of food, and the chef+assistant we’re very engaged and kind. Excited to be back in two weeks for Italian steak night 😋 A few ways the class could be improved: —I ’ve grown up in the US since I was 5yoa, and even I had a bit of hard time understanding the prof. He spoke a tad bit fast/muffled. — offer BYOdrinks, we were sad to be drinking water with such a nice meal. — groups of 2-3 max per station so everyone has a chance to help with the prep. Our group of 3 had 2 stations and we felt that was PERFECT! Wouldn’t want to be 4 people to one station.

Erin McMenamin: The cooking class was extremely fun and informative. The staff and the chef were amazing gracious hosts. We cooked salmon, asparagus and a savory soufflé; all delicious. They took good care of us and I can't say enough good things! Highly recommend.

Rasha Sharif: Zero for customer service! The lady named Donna was terrible! She did not ask me for my email to add the amount I purchased toward my perks program. She was cold and did not hide her racism from the beginning! I love Sur la table but this was annoying. I want my perks added!! Edit: I love sure la table and I shop online ! This was my first time to stop at the store next door and I was disappointed :(

Alexis McCoy: I loved the cooking class (steak frites, 01May22) the instructor was very knowledgeable and provided tips for other meals with similar ingredients. Would love to do it again.

L. Charisse Davis: I was looking for some upscale corn holders. They did not have any like that. I started looking around at other things, like cloth napkins. They had some nice ones. But others appeared a bit shopworn (dirty) and were not marked down. I had a hard time swallowing the prices of the "new" ones, much less the shopworn ones that were the same prices. I guess made of linen in India costs more than made in China. 🤭 It is a beautiful store, both inside and out (loved the beautiful potted plants outside), and it does have some nice things--baking pans, appliances, kitchen tools, etc.--just not what I was looking for. Oh, and the staff was very pleasant and tried to be helpful.

Cynthia Davis: My friend and I came here for the pasta cooking class with Chef Scott. It was absolutely incredible we couldn’t stop talking about it all the way home. The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable and fun and all the food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our girls night out and we will definitely be back for more classes!

Nizar Farsakh: Large selection of kitchenware and utensils . Mostly the high-end stuff better quality so pricey but they often have sales which makes things reasonably priced . This location also has cooking lessons right next door which are a lot of fun if you're into cooking.

Kyle D: The staff is friendly, helpful, but will let you shop if you want to alone. You can get really high end knives and cookware ($1600+) here!

Jay Empty: So much fun learning to make sushi tonight with Chef Cacchiitti and my table partner Adele.

Baked by Yael: what do users think?

Suradee Thongkiattikul: Great place to stop by after the zoo to grab a quick bite. The bagel sandwiches are around $6 and baked goods are around $4 each. Overall a decent place with vegan and gluten-free options. Nut-free and kosher if that’s also a concern for you. They had cute zoo-themed cake pops here and if you want a cute panda pop then this is the place for you. I tried their southwestern sandwich on an everything bagel and it was tasty and big enough that you’re full but not overly stuffed. I also tried their cookie bar and it was okay, though I wish I would’ve gone with their raspberry bar instead (maybe next time).

Marie Brown: Beautiful cake pops. I wanted to get a holiday gift for my mom (who already has everything) and support local business at the same time. Online order and curbside pickup were very easy.

Matthew Henry: The best hamantaschen anywhere. Impressive, both Vegan and regular. Their vegan Reuben is an amazing experience. Even if you've never had anything vegan before, try it. And, be careful, you may never eat an animal again :)
Response: Wow, thank you! We're so happy you enjoy our hamantaschen and sandwiches. We agree with you that they're quite delicious :-)

Christen Sparago: Baked by Yael is a real hidden gem. This place feels like a neighborhood bakery but has a surprisingly extensive menu (which is almost entirely vegetarian or vegan, with gluten-free options available too). Their cake pops are delicious and really cute, but the standouts for me are their bagels -- some of the best I've ever had in my life, and definitely the best I've had in DC. They're clearly handmade and always fresh. The whole staff, Yael herself included, is super friendly and there's some nice seating outside right across from the Zoo entrance. Highly recommend the next time you're walking up Connecticut or picking up a snack to take on the Tregaron trails!
Response: What a testimonial! Thank you, Christen! We are so grateful to have amazing customers like you.

Corine Sass: I buy an assorted bag of bagels and a tub of cream cheese every saturday from the Alexandria Farmer's Market and they are something I seriously can't do my week without! I love that I can just throw them in the freezer and reheat them in the mornings, making them taste fresh out of the oven every time. They are chewy (-in the best way) and soft at the same time, some of the best bagels I've had! Definitely worth a try.
Response: Corine, thank you so much for your kind words and for being such a loyal customer!

Ryan Wee Sim: TL;DR - Food is delicious and kosher, management is bitter and not-so-kosher. Vegan faire is great! Bagels are tasty, if a bit small. But the customer service was bad enough that I won't be going back. Submitted my order at 9:28am for 10am pickup. I arrive at 10:01am, to a shop with no customers, and am welcomed by the (seemed to be) manager who couldn't be bothered to look up from her computer. I inquire about my online order for 10am, she finishes her computer task, then walks to the kitchen, where I can see the person just start making my order (2 bagel sandwiches, no modifications). I say, "I was hoping to just run in and out", holding a toddler fidgeting with their mask. The manager says, "it will be right out", again barely looking up. I step outside, and return at 10:10. Still no food in hand. I mumble my frustration, but still no apology from the manager. At 10:12, the person making my order hands me two bags and says zero words. Manager is in the kitchen, waving a paper at her staff. On my way out, I hear the manager say in an agitated voice to her staff, "you don't have your own thermometers?!" I had enjoyed getting cake balls on zoo visits, but with management like I witnessed, no thank you, not ever again.

Rowan Cloud: I love this place! They have a great variety of options, including gluten and allergen free foods. The staff is very nice and incredibly helpful, and I always feel welcomed coming in here. The decor gifted to them from the zoo across the street are an added bonus- so cute!

Pete Freeman: Typically coming to a bakery at the end of the day is a mistake, and while I missed the morning brownies there were plenty of cake pops and they were excellent! I also want to counter some of the reviews of staff behavior; the woman who helped me was friendly and quick. I’m impressed!

Toby Barg: Can’t speak for the in person experience, but we ordered breakfast and snacks to our hotel for our group and it was nicely presented, delicious, on time. Warm bagels snd cream cheese and other options. Highly recommend the Duffins (donuts crossed with muffins) which were fresh, soft and very delicious (maple glazed and chocolate glazed were our favorites).

Allison F: Now that I am back from out of town, I will share the details of my experience. Customer service was extremely lacking. Employee did not get my name correct despite repeating it twice. I figured she got the 2nd attempt, as she did not ask me again or clarify how to spell it. Didn't think "Allison" was that difficult. As a result, my order got lost and I did not receive my food for a while because they and I did not recognize the name they were calling. Once I received my "small" lox bagel, it was disappointingly ungenerous and low on the portion with the lox, not worth the pricey $10. My partner had multiple grounds in the bottom of his coffee that he was irritated with and the cake pop was "ok". In my opinion, the commercial ones Starbucks sells are better, so we wished we just went to the one next door. We were on a time limit getting to the zoo, so this sadly resulted in this review.
Response: We're sorry you didn't enjoy your visit, but we wish you had shared your feedback with us. Please email info@bakedbyyael.com so we can learn more.

Catania Bakery: what do users think?

We've Got A Lot: Best Authentic Italian Bakery in DC. Very personal family run business, they bake for restaurants or sell by the loaf. My family has been going here for 60+ years. Come out and support them.

Sue D: NOT open on Fridays. This would be a very enthusiastic 5 rating if they kept their hours updated. I took time off work to come here to get supplies for a dinner party tonight, and there was a sign on the door. Ended up driving all over the city and got in trouble with work. Also, this place is CASH ONLY.

Joe Brophy: A local and historic gem. Come on Friday or Saturday mornings from 730-1030, the rest of the time they're just for delivery / catering. The croissants are amazing, if you get there at the right time and they're fresh out of the oven, buy them all :-) Or if you get there, and they just sold out, it might be because I got there ahead of you with my coworkers (our tradition is to go every Friday morning).

t d: The best bakery in DC! All of the Italian restaurants use their bread. Open to public in Saturday.

Anna Turo: An adorable place! The owner is a very sweet person who will give you excellent food recommendations. The croissants are also pretty darn good. Try the strawberry or chocolate! I only got a pic of the blueberry muffin (yum!) and the sfogliatelle (citrus ricotta filling)..I ate the croissants too fast.

Paul Lee: Truly a hidden gem and historic treasure in DC - hard to find family run bakeries like this anywhere in the city (or in the country) these days, so go support Al! (And before the pastries run out!)

Shelbi Svoboda: Catania Bakery is a small shop only open Saturday mornings for pastry and bread (they primarily do wholesale during the week). The croissants are cheap and amazing! The cookies are handmade - a bit pricier because of the ingredients but so amazing. Their shortbread tarts taste like Christmas and joy. It’s run by a sweet, older couple who make A+ morning conversation.

Alelia Hill: I ❤ this place. Walk there every Saturday morning. Best croissants ever! Soft favorable and great!!

Charles Ryan Lowe: The only thing that gets me up early on Saturday mornings is the promise of quality bread and other pastries from Catania. The owners and the patrons are pillars of the community, and you'd be hard pressed to find a better loaf and a better way to spend your Saturday morning. My advice: go early, because they regularly sell out.

Hally P: Just took time off of work to go to the bakery but they aren’t actually open on Fridays any more. Big bummer.

Rise Bakery: what do users think?

Dumdi B.: I’m always on the hunt for good treats that are both gluten and dairy free. I was so happy to find Rise Bakery! My favorite was the vegan double chocolate cupcake and the vegan cookies and cream cupcake. Both went really well with unsweetened almond milk. Such a nice treat for date night. Thank you for the existence of this place!
Response: Thanks so much for your review! Glad to hear you enjoyed the dairy-free cupcakes! We focused on adding some extra dairy-free/vegan items to the 2022 winter and spring menus :)

Sadie Vogt: Absolutely delicious! In town for work so I had to stop here and try their gluten free options! Recommend to every gluten free person in DC who has a sweet tooth!!

Peregrine Sky: Cute, unfortunately no dine in at this time, progressive bakery. Lots of options for all kinds of dietary restrictions, soy, nut, dairy and all gluten free. 18th Street sandwich was amazing! These are certainly the best gluten free pastries I’ve ever had but they are still not delicious like normal pastries!

JT Mitchell: Both the Oreo cupcake and the apple fritter were pretty good. Both are also vegan. I’d say I like the fritter better. Had some good bite to it. The cupcake was tasty. Pretty solid.

Lauren Canaday: Loved my grilled cheese and vanilla cupcake 😋 gluten free done right! (I didn't get the ice cream or iced tea there - that's just the photo I took.) I used doordash to get delivery on a busy day of conferences.

Tee Cole: Recently gone gluten-free so I'm in search of bakeries that specialize in that option. Very friendly staff. The brioche bread was the best! Unfortunately the cupcakes were too dry for my taste and the strawberry pastry didn't taste like strawberries. We drove from NW Baltimore just to try it out. Can't say I'll take that 45 min drive again.

Anna L: Very very happy with my experience at rise. Got the 18th street sandwich - delicious bread with arugula, herbed Mayo, bacon, and tomato. I also got a cherry turnover that was amazing. Yet to try the cheddar jalapeño loaf and the strawberry cheesecake but they look great. Can’t wait to come back another time.
Response: So happy to hear you enjoyed everything, Anna. Hopefully we will see you soon

Danielle Somers: Hands down best GF bakery in the DMV. All of their baked goods are incredible and their customer service is excellent. We had our wedding cake made there and everyone sung their praises. Worth the trip!

Bad Birdi: Was traveling through DC and came upon this gem. I have celiac disease and I was literally blown away by the food here. The biscuits were the best thing I've eaten in a long time. I ended up spending oodles of dollars on baked goods and I'm so very happy I did!

LP: Cute little gluten free shop with additional egg nut and soy free options. First gluten free spot I’ve tried that is moist and flavorful. Yum! I got the raspberry danish.

Bread Bite Bakery: what do users think?

Jack Jensen: The menu is aggressively un-vegan... No vegan breakfast sandwich options, no vegan protein options for anything, of their 15 bagel spreads and additions, only peanut butter and avocado are vegan. Yum.... The one vegan sandwich (the veggie) is not good. It needs some kind of protein or vegan sauce or spread to tie it together, which bread bite disappointingly seems to just have no interest in. Just keep some hummus, vegan cream cheese, or tofu on hand to make your menu palatable! I don't want to rate it any lower because what they do do is good, but until they add options to bring their menu up to what is on par with every other good restaurant in the city, I won't be going here again.

Camille Kirsch: Great bagels and great smoothies! The cupcakes are pretty good, too. There’s a $5 credit card minimum.

Sonali Patel: A little bakery with deli for breakfast and lunch options. Service was very good. Good place for a quick bite! Chocolate croissant was amazing! Would definitely go when I visit DC again. There is not much space to sit and eat there so keep that in mind.

Chanpen Tee: The croissants are delicious. Their size is big. And bagels are good too

Brandon Barnett: A decent spot for a local bagel sandwich at an affordable price. There aren’t too many other nearby spots for bagels so this is a must have at least once. I’m not sure if I was impressed enough to go back too often but it’s a perfect place to snag a snack to take to Meridian Hill Park a couple blocks away.

Karen Clark-Reddon: Fast service and delicious cakes though the street parking is tricky.

dipika: I am so happy this bakery exists, and so close to home. Their bread loafs are delicious and also well priced, and they have yummy cupcakes with flavors that offer something for everyone. They also serve sandwiches, coffees, etc... There's no seating here, so prepare to take what you want to go, but definitely swing by to support this local business.

Clark Shurtleff: Love this place! My wife and I stop by just about every weekend for a sandwich, bagels, and bread. Their bagels and bread are awesome and the owners are lovely folks. Can't recommend them enough!

Tyler McComas: Great spot in the area for lunch or delicious pastries. They make their own bread. Highly recommend the sourdough.

Tony B: Last minute order for my wifey for her birthday as a request from our daughter for Red Velvet birthday cake. I was able to place my order at 1p.m. to be pick-up at 4p.m. same day. Freshly baked perfectly made. Also had a amazing tasting carrot cake cupcake and strawberry short for (co-worker) who also said tasted amazing. I'll see you all soon. Patisserie Poupon: what do users think?

Vikram Seshadri: Came across this nice little bakery on the way to Dumbarton Oaks. They have amazing cakes, croissants and pies. The fruit cheesecake was the best one ever.

Karla Guillen: The food was good! The bread was a little harder than what I expected but still edible. The desert was perfect!! They don't have handicap entrance but they have a little parking area in the back which I'm not sure if you can really park there but I did anyways and didn't get a ticket or complain.

Al Edmondson: Really good food. Pleasant and cozy, edged in a Georgetown space, with a nice view of Wisconsin Ave. movements on the street in the front window seating. Nice and comfy patio to sit outside. Plenty of yummy desserts, pastries and some bomb Ice Tea lemonade. Service was absolutely polite and welcoming. Nothing negative to say about this lunch outing. Can't wait to return. I just simply enjoyed it...

Dagmar: The customer service was great. They were friendly, kind and packed my cakes up with care. Cakes were delicious and not overly sweet. I went for two cakes and ended up leaving with four (my own choice) lol I bought extra to share. Coffee was good too a medium to light blend.

Sarah Millet: Had some time to kill and stopped here for some pastries and coffee ! Everything was super tasty and authentic ! The coffee was on point and to top it off, they have the cutest patio.

Matthew Henry: Amazing experience. Incredible French food, don't miss it.

Laura Delgado: I've been satisfied with everything that my family has tried here including the almond croissants, ham & cheese croissants and brie sandwiches. The relaxing atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating is also a plus.

Sarah Diligenti: The go-to place for Fraisiers cakes and for their scrumptious Hazelnut Yule Log at Christmas. I also love their Americano, which I reserve as a guilty pleasure almost once a month on Sundays, together with their almond croissant. My only regret is that the back patio is too small and shady and sitting outside in the front on the curb kills the joy of sipping an excellent coffee: noise and exhaust fumes dampen the experience.

Mark P: Great little bakery that my family and fiance explored when in georgetown. We got coffee from the espresso bar in the back, which were delicious. We got a spinach / cheese savory pastry, a pain au chocolat, and this really cool raspberry mousse/cake thing. All of it was fantastic. Service was really nice and the line moved fast. Bathrooms in the back.

Dania Ramirez: We stopped here for lunch. The coffee was really good and the fruit tarts just delightful. We also ordered a quiche and sandwiches. Everyone was super happy with their orders. I would definitely come back! Highly recommend!

Imagine Cake Studio: what do users think?

Rick Garcia: They came through last minute with an amazing cake! A company canceled on me Thursday night for a Sunday event. I emailed Imagine Studio and they came through. They are very friendly and great customer service. Their cakes were super moist and beautifully done! Love this place. They also support the military!
Response: Glad we had the opportunity to help out! Thank you for your business!

Brandi H: We’ve ordered several cakes from them at this point. One time we actually were given the wrong cake but it worked out fine in the end. Since then we have always paid the extra $25 to have the cake delivered instead of picking it up. The cakes always taste amazing and always look good. I can trust that the pic I send of the cake I want is what I will get. The only thing I will say is that my last cake was delivered in a box that smelled like smoke, so I had to immediately take it out of the box and throw the box away. It did not affect the cake’s taste thankfully.

Mariama Y.K. Smart: I ordered a CocoMelon cake 3 days before a godsons birthday party and they did not disappoint. The cake not only looked good, it tasted awesome!!! I will definitely be using their services again!!!
Response: We are so glad you were pleased! Thank you!

Tiffany Balmer: they should change their name to cupcakes and customer service. The drop off of the cup cakes was top tier. I learned how to properly unbox cupcakes!!! thanks for taking the time to bake and teach. They were so cute and yummy. Thanks!!!

Corey Marshall: Order yours today you won't be disappointed! I have one slice left in the freezer from August and don't want to take it out until I have another cake in hand.DELICIOUS 😋
Response: We're so glad you are happy!

Malcolm Scott: I ordered a custom cake for my wife for Valentine's Day and she was very pleased with how the cake and decorations turned out. The cake itself was very tasty. My wife and I are usually not a fan of the thicker frosting used on these types of cakes, but we were pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed the frosting on this cake. Their prices were affordable and the delivery was right on time. Would definitely use them again.
Response: Thank you for your business! We hope to work with you again in the future!

Tesfa Seyoum: My wife placed a Birthday cake order 2 weeks ahead, my son likes vanilla flavor cake, he does not like Chocolate cake at all, the cake was suppose to be delivered at 3:00pm. What they did was very very sad, around 3:30 pm we were worried and started calling them becouse they did not delivered as they promised, and their was no answer, around 4:00pm I decided to go to the store, when I get to the store I found out the store was a fake address, the store was a convenient store it was not a bakery and the people who were their told me the bakery use the store to delver the cake only, they have no way of contacting the baker. The cake was finally delivered around 5:25pm, after we gave up on them and went and bought a cake from Wholefoods, in addition the cake was a chocolate cake we did not ordered. My son's birthday was ruined. If you want to have a decent program please don't order anything from these people. After my wife complaint via email, they decide to give us back $25.oo. Till now no body called and apologized or gave us an explanation for what went down.

whitney hurley: Made a beautiful cake that tasted amazing! The cake was bigger than I was expecting, but that’s not a bad problem to have. The design was exactly as requested.

Maria Zenquis: I ordered the 15 cupcakes and was delivered on sept 24. The cupcakes didn’t taste fresh and also I thought that all 15 cupcakes were going to fit in one box. Would I have known that I would’ve just order 12 . It was awkward to see two boxes and one box had only 3 in them . I’m addition you guys should really work on your packaging . It’s looks generic . I may have well just bought cupcakes from store rather than ordered them . Thank you . But I will not order again and will give your company a bad review

Blain: They deliver the cake 2 and half hours late after we finished the birthday celebration. On top of that, we ordered vanilla flavor, but we received chocolate. Very disappointing.

Praline Bakery at The Wharf: what do users think?

Austin Graff: Near Hilton's Canopy at the Wharf is a Bethesda-based bakery owned by two pastry chefs who met while working at the White House. Here's our experience visiting after ice skating (located at the other end of the Wharf): 1) Food: My four-year-old daughter and wife each got a macaroon- one chocolate and one raspberry. They both really enjoyed it. One makes for a great small snack, especially for a toddler. 2) Drinks: I ordered a small hot chocolate and loved it. It's thicker hot chocolate and less sweet. However, the thickness makes it very rich so a small was more than enough. 3) Space: It's awkwardly large for a pastry shop. However, the space allows for a few tables and plenty of room to social distance during the pandemic. 4) Service: The person working was not warm, but attentive so no complaints.

Philippe Jacques Kradolfer: The Praline Bakery seems large for the few products they had when we visited them. Entering it, as it looked like an European store from the outside, we were surprise at the very simple and kind of lack of personality of the store inside. Both main displays were basically empty but had great macaroons (specially the apricot and caramel ones!). Although the price per piece was rather high for the size of the macaroons, (smaller than regular macaroons) the taste made it worth the price. The day we were there they had Italian soft nougat bars in several different flavors. Although the price was also high the quality and taste was great!!! We bought several of these bars and we enjoyed them very much!!! The girls at the counter were less than friendly!!

BRWND Butter: If you've been to The Wharf in DC then you know it's filled with culinary gems. We popped into Praline Bakery for a snack, and we were in awe of the variety they had to offer. This cute spot specializes in French pastries and they did not disappoint! Follow us on IG for more foodie pics: @BrwndButter

Malinda Hollingsworth: Customer service needs improving! Please put friendly people behind the counter. The young lady working clearly didn’t want to be there. The owners of this place clearly are not present or involved. The red velvet cupcake was awful. It tasted days old. I wish I could have written a better review.

Sue D: Gross. Soggy, tasteless, tiny macarons for $1.95 each. There were lots in the display, but I was still given broken ones in a plastic clamshell by a woman whose mask was FAR below her nose. Hideous decor with angry political posters. The only bags they had were huge. There’s no excuse for such a terrible business. I’ll be shocked if they’re still around a month from now.

Mimi: The staff wasn't friendly at all. The first thing that you notice when walking inside is how dirty the white walls are! The bathroom was HORRIBLE! I purchased cookies before going to the restroom. Had I gone in the restoom beforehand I wouldn't have purchased ANYTHING! I really wanted to get refunded for my purchase but my husband didn't want to go through the trouble. So, we just trashed the cookies. What a waste of money! I just couldn't eat anything from a place with a flithy restroom. We visited early in the day, so I'm quite sure that it was like that the day before.

Bin_aujan: The shop is clean respected crew delicious Food The price is right All kinds of sweets are delicious I loved I recommend

Summers Journey: The customer service is very poor. It seems like the workers do not enjoy their job at all. Though the baked items are ok, I will not be returning to the bakery due to the horrendous customer service. No thank you!

L. Navarro: Great location. Ok coffee . Only sells cupcakes and weak sandwiches. Needs a better product before the upcoming Starbucks takes your most of your business.

Ashley Rhame: Here’s the thing, I used to love getting their s’mores cookie. I’d get them every time I’d walk the wharf for like 3 years. Then all of a sudden they never have them in stock anymore. They said they’d be back in January and I’ve yet to see them return.

Seylou Bakery: what do users think?

Da-Wang Wu: First time buying from this bakery. The cheese scone and croissant were pretty good, but we didn’t enjoy the bird bread that much. I guess people who like nutty texture might enjoy it more. I ordered mocha, and the staff told me that I couldn’t adjust the level of sweetness because they used chocolate milk to make the mocha, which was a bit weird for me. Would look forward to trying some other breads in the future since they actually look pretty good!

Vivian Lu: This is a small local bakery, so I'm glad that we visited. Everyone was very nice. With that being said, I'm not convinced that whole grain works well for all baked goods, and I can't recommend stopping by. We had the croissant and although the crust looked properly flaky, it had the soft, wet consistency of under-baked bread inside. The quality of the bread also seems to vary day by day. The bread is good when it's good, but again, wet and under-baked on bad days.

dan altman: I really enjoy stopping by to buy bread when I'm in DC. It's great that they mill their own flour which is locally grown in some cases. A dough made with lots of water and natural leaven will require intense heat to help the bread rise. This can cause a slightly burnt crust, which I like. The reason for the 3 stars is that the bread can be inconsistent in terms of proofing or timing to be baked. This causes the dough to callapse creating pockets at the top of the bread and a dense more doughy bottom. Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to give feedback if you don't live local, so they can work on remedying the problem. I would hope for better at these prices. I think the owner may be one of the best bread bakers anywhere, but he has other doing the baking now. I will keep visiting Seylou Bakery, but next time ask they cut the loaf before buying. Hopefully they won't have a problem with my request.

Michelle Keller: Gorgeous bakery in a modern space. I had the buckwheat strawberry muffin, which was delicious. Excellent crumb, not too dense, with whole strawberries baked right in. I also had the vegetable frittata. The texture was divine, light and airy.

Christine S: Small local bakeries are all the hype nowadays, so I’d add Seylou to your list if you’re a fan of whole grain pastries and sourdough. I’m a croissant fiend, so I had to try their whole wheat almond croissant. Certainly one of the more unique croissants I’ve ever tried– if you’re expecting a flaky and buttery croissant, you won’t find it here. If you’re looking for a seemingly healthier and heartier croissant, then Seylou is for you. They could have done a better job with the frangipane filling. I also tried their savory monkey bread with spicy peppers and enjoyed the light sourdough flavor.

Ammar El-Taher: The freshness of their bakery, the mouth blowing taste & the consistency they provide each & every time you eat there is unmatchable. One great breakfast, coffee & tea place the you shouldn't miss

Mark Blanchard: Seylou more like Fail-ou. Ok I'll start with the staff. They're genuinely super nice and professional, which gets this cafe a second star. The food also looks beautiful. The rest though? Went there with a few friends and we tried several items (6 food items and coffees). Not exaggerating, but we all took a sip of the coffee and looked at each other like "this coffee is disgusting". Ok that happens, maybe a bad batch of coffee? We then dove into the pastries (6 of them). 4 of the pastries were inedible, and the other 2, we ended up eating them, but they were average at best. We literally threw out 4 pastries because they were that awful. I'm not sure who all is going to Seylou and giving it 4 and 5 stars, but have you been to other bakeries in DC? Or are we comparing to gas station pastries? Seriously we tried 6 items, and we literally dumped 4 of these pastries in the trash can. Oh, and 1 more thing... The pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) is whole wheat. What!!!!!! I'm not eating a croissant to be healthy, I don't need it to be whole wheat. Plus you should really be clear that it's whole wheat, because it tastes pretty awful. In short, the staff is absolutely nice, but the food... just... Don't.

Nicole C: Absolutely loved the almond croissant! It had the perfect balance of sweetness. The aromatics and flavor of almond was very apparent. There was also a bit of a body to the croissant that I've never encountered before at other bakeries. Definitely would recommend it!

Breana's Toast: I´ve visited renowned bakeries all over the world and Seylou offers hands down the best bread and pastries I´ve ever had. You can taste the organic locally sourced grain in every single bite! Anyone who lives in the DC area is fortunate to have this piece of grain heaven nearby... And for anyone skeptical about their deep colored loaves, let me assure you that nothing is burnt, everything is baked to perfection. Can´t wait to be back for more!

Mark Woodward: In my view Seylou is the best bakery in the US. I mean that seriously. Everything is freshly milled whole grain and naturally leavened, which is how I like my bread. Seylou entirely disproves the perception that such breads can only be bricks. The quality is the same or better than from places that use bread flour or high extraction flour, and the bread and pastries are both more flavorful and more nutritious. I also appreciate that Seylou supports local farmers, not just by buying and using their wheat and rye, but also by turning other crops (such as buckwheat), which are important parts of organic grain crop rotation, into both breads and delicious pastries. Seylou has been inspirational to me in my own bread baking. 😀

Sur La Table: what do users think?

Y Ws: I tried the cooking classes with my boyfiend and would not recommend to any friend. Where do I start? The dessert option was ice cream, which is very impractical to learn. The chef recommended an ice cream machine but honestly, who wants to keep one of those in the house when it's much more practical to buy ice cream. I would have liked to learn something more hands on. Also, the price per person was about $70!!! Ridiculous given that not each pairing of people had their own prep material. Each group gets a pairing of a cutting board and a knife and an apron. Fine, but I wanted a lesson that was more hands on instead of learning to cook with 4 other strangers. I mean, I didn't want to peel garlic and pick parsley. I also should have had my own food processor and had my own cooking materials. None of the students were allowed to touch or marinate the flank stake, which doesn't even make sense to me. The setup of the class wasn't fun and if it were $45/person it would be justifiable but +$70 not worth it at all. In addition, the chef lacked charisma and it was difficult to hear him over the din of the kitchen. Maybe he knew some technical aspects of cooking but for my partner who was an amateur in the kitchen, he didn't break things down well enough. Also, his attitude was quite apathetic and not what I expected in a cooking class. This was supposed to be fun but it turned into a drag. I would not recommend to anyone and would not go again. I wish I had saved my money and bought the material and watched YouTube instead.

Susan Null: Thank you for the wonderful macaron class. The chef was amazing with stories to tell from all the best restaurants in the nation. The directions were clear and our group worked together well. The macarons were delicious and I have confidence that we can do it at home. Thanks!!

Dave Yoon: Save your money. $75 is too much to spend to feel hungry, confused, and disappointed. We really wanted to love this experience. It sounded like a wonderful opportunity to learn how to cook something special - from the conceptualization to the ingredient prepping. Maybe it was the cooking class that we attended (South American Steak Night), but my fiance and I left feeling like we hadn't learned how to really cook anything. The steak marinade was pre-made and was prepared for the most pary by the staff. The chef called up only one participant to make the shareable ice cream and salsa leaving the rest of the class standing around doing nothing. We left somewhat confused, a bit ripped off, and definitely hungry. I did a quick scan of the room after the evening and the other participants all remarked how they were planning to get dinner afterwards because they were all hungry. The class is $75 a person so you'd think that the very least, they'd give you enough food to not be starving afterwards. The whole class felt like a giant marketing ploy for Sur La Table. The chef took every opportunity to promote the appliances that we were using. Participants receive a 10% discount on everything in store while the class is going on. Even though we didnt buy anything, that was really the only great thing about that evening.

Amy Stein: This Sur La Table is a nice size with a large selection of items. They also offer cooking classes. It is close to a parking lot so if you are going for a class parking is close and convenient. However, I cannot say that the staff was welcoming or friendly.

TD MLIBERTY: Scanpan is the best cookware you can purchase. The Alexandria store has extremely nice staff. I travel from Manassas Va to come to this store. Sales are great.

Thomas Campbell: Awful. My wife bought a so-called aluminum pie shield, made in Taiwan, on October 19 or 20. We tried it out for the first time now and it left the crust covered with flakes of silver paint. (See the attached photographs.) I wrote a longer review of the product (CRU 302083) on the Sur La Table website, but I suspect they won't post it. So I'm writing here. You need to remove this product from your shelves, because it's a health hazard.

Julie Hawk (Jewls): They have absolutely everything you could possibly want or need for your kitchen! The selection is enormous and they have reasonably priced items! The staff is knowledgeable about the products and are willing to take the time to talk with you and make sure that you are making the right purchase! If your shopping for someone and you don't know what to get them you can't go wrong with kitchen items! They get two thumbs up in my book!

Jessenia Merced: Too expensive for what it was. On Date night, there are 8 couples and you share cooking materials with another couple. So your partner, you and a random couple will share tasks in order to make the meal. The amount of food served was minimal. We paid $158 for 4 oz of steak between me and my husband and we didn't even got to cook our own steak, because the other couple did it. You are out in two hours. We will never got back. Waisted our time.

Theresa Milavec: The staff member helped me purchase my items and even let me leave it there for 15 minutes while we ran another quick errand down the street. My only complaint is that it appeared that I was the only one in the store so maybe acknowledge people a little faster. I was standing in the same area, with my 2 yr old for what felt like 10 minutes, prior to the good service.

Farrah Barton: Incredible selection of kitchen goods. The staff was very nice and helpful, and even walked me through a special order I had to make online for something they didn't currently have in stock. It is still a bit pricey, but expected for quality goods. Everything I've purchased here has lasted me a very long time.

Firehook Bakery & Coffee House: what do users think?

Jeni Partee: Took the metro and passed this place on the way to the Newseum. So glad they were open on Thanksgiving and WOW were they busy. Line went very fast. Yogurt parfait was fresh. Cookies are huge, great price. I had the oatmeal raisin and it was spectacular. Glad they had soda for those of us who don't like coffee.

Carolyn Bradshaw (PolythPam): Love Firehook! Amazing cookies, great coffees, and lovely staff at this location. They seemed to know most of the patrons, and their orders! Located at the top of the metro station it’s super easy to get to and a good stop for visiting the Smithsonian museums.

samin shokoohi: The worst experience ever. I was insisting on Chocolate cake but they somehow convinced me to get the Strawberry vanilla cake which tasted awful. Never try it

Jane L: Firehook Bakery has some amazing cookies and pastries, but on I visited this particular location for lunch when I was on jury duty. I ordered a veggie panini and it was not that great. It was ok but I wouldn't get it again. I'll just stick to baked goods and coffee next time.

Tweila-Rochelle Cauthen: It was a coooooold day. Nice friendly staff. The creamiest hot chocolate, and a welcoming portion. We copped a squat and warmed up. Our group purchased a few muffins, cookies and a fruit dish. Everything from start to finish was excellent. You gotta stop on through!

Mike K: Located close to one entrance of the Judiciary Square Metro and across the street from MPD Headquarters. Typical coffee shop. Coffee and food has always been pretty good here. Staff seems to be just doing their job to get along. Customer service not the best, appearance of employees needs to be looked at.

Mary Brody: really good coffee, other drinks and bakery. Their sandwiches and salad aren't always good but the baked goods are amazing. It's small and can get crowded, better for grab and go than sitting down.

Kerry Bresnahan: Very friendly staff. Coffee is always on point and made fresh. The pastries are a favorite within my office. Power players in the senate like to meet here and talk shop. Great little coffee house.

Darius Pringle: The coffee and baked goods were great, unfortunately the place is overun with panhandlers. I had to leave, one person after another come right to your table and ask for money. Worth going, just get it to go.

Bronwyn Proffit-Higgins: The staff here is amazing. I came with two babies and did not expect the level of attention and assistance I received. The baked goods were mediocre, thus 2 stars. But the staff? 5 stars.
