A V: Ordered the raspberry swirl cheesecake and I can say that this is easily the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. Pistachio crust and the jam is such a brilliant decision! If you ever decide to come here please do yourself a favor and order this cake, you won’t regret it.
Taylor G: I've never written a bad review before, but I the cake I received is comically bad. The $70 cake I ordered had the wrong frosting, a misspelled name, and writing that genuinely looks like a kid wrote it (no offense to kids). I've ordered cakes here in the past and they've turned out great, so I have no idea what went wrong in the ordering and frosting of this cake. I went back to see if I could get at least a partial refund and they have a policy that the minute it leaves the door no refund can be issued. More than anything I just want to know how the cake I ordered turned out like that. Sorry to my friend whose birthday it is!
Tyson Haas: Came two days in a row on my DC trip. Cakes were dry both days. Don't waste your time on the cakes. The Lemon Bar was absolutely amazing, both days! The Lotus Cheesecake was also delicious, much better than the cakes. The cookies and Brookies were all delicious as well.
Ritu Upadhyay: I regularly pop into The CakeRoom to get my sweet fix, and it's always been one of my favorite spots in DC. Friendly service, great variety of treats (from cakes to pies to cookies) in a super cozy atmosphere. This year we ordered my five year old son's birthday cake from The CakeRoom and they blew me away. Ordering online was simple. They have so many design options, I found a look that integrated with the theme ("winter wonderland"). The outcome was perfection. Not only did it look beautiful, it tasted delicious. We had a lot of happy kids AND adults. Thank you, CakeRoom.
ko chanel: This is the inedible cake I paid 166 dollars for. The letters were uneven. I honestly think that they forgot about my order and did this in an hour. My dads birthday was ruined. I called these renowned “Kamala Cake Bakers” several times and got no response. When they did finally, answer they stated they give no refunds. I was in a rush to his surprise party and I couldn’t fully assess how horrible the cake was until I removed it from the box. I was placed on hold for an hour until someone finally hung up on me. Shame on you!!!! How horrible can you be! I 1000000 percent do not recommend please find someone else !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place deserves no ones money
Amirah Prince: Would you serve this cake to Kamala Harris? You posted the cake you made for her with so much pride. It looked great. I guess since I am not a vice president my money must not hold the same value. My Dad could not even eat his birthday cake. I will not rest until we get our money back. 166 dollars for this horrible cake. This business is unethical. The person hung up on me when I called to get return the cake for a refund. They said they can give me the value back in cupcakes. I was placed on hold until I was hung up on YOU PEOPLE ARE EVIL. First time in my life I have been robbed!!!!!!!!!! The cake was dry to the touch. I refused to eat it. It was so dry. WHO made this cake. Did you a hire a helper for a day. 166 dollars. Horrible
Muniba Khan: I walked in while I was waiting for my friends in the area and left with a cafe au lait and a couple of cupcakes. I loved the coffee and could tell it was made with care. And the cupcakes were delicious! My favorite of the ones I tried was the lavender lemon cupcake, although the lavender flavor was a bit overshadowed by the lemon. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a coffee or some sweets.
ƐK dela Cruz: I had a slice of Peanut butter chocolate cake. It had a great balance of both, the cake was moist and very enjoyable alongside the free coffee or tea that they have readily available. Pricing could be better but also understandable. We’re definitely coming back whenever we’re in the area to try out more from this store!

Lexi Walters: We got our wedding cake from The CakeRoom, my favorite bakery in DC. Not only does the shop smell like heaven on earth, but the cake was amazing. We wanted a simple, great-tasting cake and The CakeRoom delivered (literally, all the way to Olney MD which was fabulous). All our guests loved it, and I'm incredibly jealous because in all the craziness of the reception my husband and I only got the bites we fed each other at the cake cutting (which tasted great). I plan on going to the bakery sometime soon to get us each a big slice to enjoy!

Megan Barnes: The cake of my dreams was created by Tiffany at Buttercream. When we did our tasting I was blown away at how I would be able to choose as every flavor was better than the last. She did an incredible job pulling our English garden vibe together for a beautiful cake on our wedding day.

Elizabeth Meltzer: These cream puffs were THE HIT for our small backyard wedding reception! We had a cake (not provided by Buttercream), but, it was overshadowed by these delicious puffs. Everyone asked where we got them, and kept going back to get more or try to choose one with a different flavor (we had mocha and vanilla). These are unlike anything I've had from anywhere else - just absolute perfection. Having something fancy and unexpected like this really made our unconventional wedding feel a little more special. I even had a friend sneak several into my car so I would be sure to have a few as we drove away (because you can be sure that there were no leftovers!) Thank you Buttercream!

Jane L: I ordered a Best of Buttercream Box back in August. Just catching up with my review now. Quarantine inspired me to try a lot of local businesses and discovering pastry boxes was a fun twist on ordering takeout. Buttercream's Best of box is offered every few weeks in advance online and you don't know what's in it until a day or two before pick-up. You know there will be 6-7 pieces and it costs $37. Check out my photos to see what I got. All of the pastries I got were high quality, rich, and delicious. For me, however, they were too sweet. I split each piece with my Mom and I still couldn't finish any of them in one sitting. I would have preferred a lighter touch. I think other people would be completely in heaven, though. The ordering and pick up process is super quick and I loved that the chef actually handed me my box with some tips on storing.
Chels Owens: Looooooooove their cake and cupcakes! These people are top notch and make high quality baked goods, you will not be disappointed. I got a gorgeous unicorn cake from them that was a huge hit with my friends and I got myself a cotton candy cupcake that was the absolute best.
Tina P: First, the customer service was really good. I was running late for my pick up and it was not a problem, the girl I spoke with was very nice. The cupcakes were beautifully presented and tasted great. I ordered the gluten free elderflower lemon cupcakes with blackberry jam. My boyfriend has an allergy, so we've been on the hunt for really good gluten free cupcakes. These were light, fluffy and moist. Will shop there again for our pastry needs!
nitubw: This is my go to bakery for special ordering celebration cakes! Buttercream makes it easy to order online and provide ideas for specialty cakes. My older daughter loved her Wonder Woman cake! It was honestly looked almost too good to eat. Almost. She had her favorite flavor, S’mores. They made my younger daughter’s Moana dream come true with her birthday cake which also incorporated her favorite flavor: Vanilla cake with lemon curd and strawberry buttercream (despite it not being on their menu at that time). The cake was the right amount of sweet and the buttercream was fantastic. My husband had also purchased one of their peek-a-boo cakes (Elderflower soaked lemon cake with blackberry jam and vanilla buttercream) for my birthday. Let’s just say this family of four devoured it!
Kay Chevalier: I was in DC for the weekend and my Airbnb was close to the bakery; I’m too embarrassed to admit the number of times I stopped in to get another treat. Everything I tried was amazing! Like AMAZING!!! Their savory breakfast roll was super. The one I had was filled with egg, cheese, & sausage. The Queen Bee was flakey and soft and buttery and sugary, a perfect balance. Oh my, I want one just thinking about it. Ps.- their unicorn hot chocolate is adorable!
Mackenzie Jandernoa: Super cute and friendly spot! The Reese peanut butter cup cookie bar was absolutely phenomenal and worth every bite. I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie and the half brownie/half cookie bar as well, however, the funfetti cupcake was a huge miss for me; this certainly could be due to personal preference. It just didn’t have much flavor. More specifically, the frosting was super bland. Overall, it’s still worth stopping in and checking out the variety of treats they have to offer!
Kate Morton: Buttercream was good, the gluten free snickers brownie was tasty but I did hope there would be more gluten free options. My date said the triple chocolate cupcake was good though the icing could’ve been more flavorful.
Loree Lipstein: Cake is literally my favorite food... I've been known to eat upwards of 8 pieces of wedding cake at other weddings. I'm rather famous for it actually. So for my own wedding, the cake was one of the most important things to me. I wanted it to be GOOD cake above all else -- a pretty cake that doesn't taste amazing is not really cake! Buttercream knocks it out of the park on both fronts. The cake is as delicious as cake can get -- truly insane. And they offer so many amazing flavors! We ended up with three different ones because it was so hard to choose. And then on top of the cake being absolutely amazing... their designs are gorgeous. We did both a traditional beautiful cake and a fun groomscake that we designed special. Both exceeded our expectations. If you're in the DC Metro area, you must work with Buttercream!

Jacob Meyer: Delicious Napoleon cake. Smaller selection than maybe pre COVID but very friendly & yummy.
Robert Freeman: Spectacular dark chocolate mousse. Probably the best that I have ever had. It was moist, decadent, rich, anything that you want in a chocolate mousse. And the decorations were so professional and sharp, it was a shame to ruin them to eat the cake itself! Definitely would recommend that you try any of their delicious pastries here.

Lauren Burlason: I ordered a pineapple upside down cake with balloons and paid to have it delivered to a hotel on Capitol Hill. I was told the cake tasted good but the rest of the experience was negative. The balloons were blown up by mouth...no helium and not floating. The icing writing on the cake was lacking. The receipt was ON TOP of the box!! For $65, I expected more, a lot more.
Janis Benson-EL: My first time here. It took me 45 minutes to find parking but I really wanted to come. Upon entering the bakery the lady was in the back and came out and was not friendly. She acted like I was disturbing her. Seemed like she didn't want to help me. The bakery did not have a large selection as I thought it would have. The few cake slices they had looked leftover from the day before. I brought a pastry. It was good but I will not come back again.

Scott Goldfarb: We had the best experience with Catherine and The Bakers' Lounge! We went to Catherine to design our wedding cake during COVID and she was so accommodating. We had a great tasting and then leading up to the wedding, she was incredibly communicative and helpful. She designed a beautiful two layered cake that was vanilla bean on one layer and chocolate salted caramel. Amazing!! Her cake design was a perfect match to our citrus themed wedding. Would highly recommend Catherine and the Bakers' Lounge to anyone who needs a wedding cake.

I went back and got more delicious sausage rolls and the BBQ beef pastry, holy cow, best BBQ pastry I have had in a long time!

Grace Navas: The Baker's Lounge stands out as a British bakery in DC. I arranged for her to provide my milestone birthday cake and an assortment of individual-sized British cakes. Having seen the beautiful cakes she has made for others in the past, I gave her full creative license to create my centerpiece cake. The cake was absolutely stunning and she displayed all the cakes beautifully. I was advised by Catherine when I ordered the cakes that guests may choose not eat dessert. This was not the case at my party as I only got to scrape the crumbs and frosting from the bottom of the birthday cake platter. I was so thrilled that my guests enjoyed the cakes. I am fortunate that I can get British cakes whenever I want by visiting her shop.
Wren Chanell: Strawberry shortcake and strawberry champagne cupcakes were very delicious!!!! They were for my daughters 21st birthday and she/we loved them. Definitely would recommend and I’ll be getting all my sugary sweets from here from now on. 10stars

A. Peters: Cake was not good. Very dense and heavy. Maybe the type of flour or time of day it was baked. The flavor was off as well. My guests were highly disappointed. If you want to try them out, sample first but don't buy blindly like I did.

Am Ku: I really wanted to like this place. I was so excited that a bakery was coming to our area that had vegan options. But when I went on Saturday, they only had 1 vegan item, which they called a cake but was more like a very dense muffin (or maybe like a fruit cake without the fruit and nuts). I also bought my husband a caramel cake. The total was $11 for two, not particularly big, treats. We both thought they were fair, but not really anything better than what you can get in a grocery store these days. Just didn't really feel like it justified the price. Maybe there other stuff is better...
Response: The. Bakers’ Lounge is a British bake shop that has been in Brookland for 5 years and we pride ourselves in the products we make. We bake from scratch everyday, using wholesome ingredients unlike a grocery store. . The Arabella cake is gluten-free,Dairy Free and vegan dessert. It is not a cake, its a pudding, it’s a cross between a bread pudding and pudding. So sorry if you assumed based on the name. We are not a vegan bakery and don’t make a claim to that. Our Arabella cakes are $5 and our mini cakes are $3.50. Whilst our goal is to create an experience for our customers,allowing them to be able to “taste the difference” we know we can’t please everyone.

Rick Garcia: They came through last minute with an amazing cake! A company canceled on me Thursday night for a Sunday event. I emailed Imagine Studio and they came through. They are very friendly and great customer service. Their cakes were super moist and beautifully done! Love this place. They also support the military!

Brandi H: We’ve ordered several cakes from them at this point. One time we actually were given the wrong cake but it worked out fine in the end. Since then we have always paid the extra $25 to have the cake delivered instead of picking it up. The cakes always taste amazing and always look good. I can trust that the pic I send of the cake I want is what I will get. The only thing I will say is that my last cake was delivered in a box that smelled like smoke, so I had to immediately take it out of the box and throw the box away. It did not affect the cake’s taste thankfully.

Malcolm Scott: I ordered a custom cake for my wife for Valentine's Day and she was very pleased with how the cake and decorations turned out. The cake itself was very tasty. My wife and I are usually not a fan of the thicker frosting used on these types of cakes, but we were pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed the frosting on this cake. Their prices were affordable and the delivery was right on time. Would definitely use them again.

Tesfa Seyoum: My wife placed a Birthday cake order 2 weeks ahead, my son likes vanilla flavor cake, he does not like Chocolate cake at all, the cake was suppose to be delivered at 3:00pm. What they did was very very sad, around 3:30 pm we were worried and started calling them becouse they did not delivered as they promised, and their was no answer, around 4:00pm I decided to go to the store, when I get to the store I found out the store was a fake address, the store was a convenient store it was not a bakery and the people who were their told me the bakery use the store to delver the cake only, they have no way of contacting the baker. The cake was finally delivered around 5:25pm, after we gave up on them and went and bought a cake from Wholefoods, in addition the cake was a chocolate cake we did not ordered. My son's birthday was ruined. If you want to have a decent program please don't order anything from these people. After my wife complaint via email, they decide to give us back $25.oo. Till now no body called and apologized or gave us an explanation for what went down.

Blain: They deliver the cake 2 and half hours late after we finished the birthday celebration. On top of that, we ordered vanilla flavor, but we received chocolate. Very disappointing.

Elizabeth Dou: I love coming here on special occasions and enjoying a cupcake or two with friends and family. Every cupcake I’ve tried has been such a treat full of flavor and just so moist. They really nail the cupcake to icing ratio. They offer seasonal coffee flavors as well as cupcake flavors. It’s a fun bakery with both indoor and outdoor seating. If you plan to stop by be prepared to wait in line. The line moves quickly and it’s definitely worth the wait!

Avonlea: One of my favorite spots when in DC. The cupcakes are so moist and your definitely getting your moneys worth! Before the pandemic the line would go down the street, but since they close earlier you can walk right in. They also have other treats other than cupcakes. Their Rice Krispies are very good! If in DC I highly suggest you stop by!

Sam Buck: Baked & Wired is out of this world! The cupcakes we had here were absolutely phenomenal and some of the best desserts we've ever had! We had the Coconut, Strawberry, and Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcakes and could barely finish them they were so filling. The inside shop was packed when we went in, and they were able to get us through the line quickly. The CPB cupcake was slightly dry and being right outside DC it's a bit pricey, but everything else was fantastic. 9/10
Yuri: When we arrived in the afternoon, most flavors of cupcakes were already sold out… I really wanted to try dirty chai cupcake, but I got one of chocolate flavor.(I forgot the name, but kind of nutty chocolate) It was sweet, but not too much, moderately moist, was good! I should go again!
Marina Ekman: I went into Baked and Wired on a Saturday near mid day, and was greeted politely by staff, so that was nice. I took a look at their menu on the board, and was surprised to see that there weren’t any prices posted. I then took a look at their foldout menus, and no prices on there either. I was finally able to track down the price of their cupcakes online (they were over $6 per) yet i was unable to find prices for their drinks (but that could be my error) I decided to order the coconut cupcake and a green tea, and my food was delivered to me swiftly! The cupcake itself was very delicious and rich, yet a little lacking on the coconut flavor, and the tea was hot and scrumptious! I definitely would visit again! Edit: I was finally able to obtain a biscuit from them (thanks to the lovely staff for their help!) and it was very tasty! The biscuit is a drop type soda biscuit with the ingredients mixed into it, rather than a layered biscuit.
Da-Wang Wu: A lovely little bakery with many different flavors of cupcakes. They also sell coffee and tea on the other side of the counter. The staff mentioned that carrot cake and strawberry are two popular flavors in their cupcakes. Carrot cake is pretty delicious, but strawberry is just okay for me. Although I don’t like frosting in general, my friend said that their frosting felt freshly made and he actually enjoyed it. Overall, the drinks and cake are a bit too sweet for me, but I guess it might be just fine for others.
Devin Boe: Best cupcakes in Georgetown (best I've had anywhere), good coffee, and great service. Cute vibe and never too crowded. Don't neglect their other baked goods! A little on the pricey side but you are paying for high end quality. Seriously the BEST cupcakes... amazing frosting, moist and flavorful, and some really fun creative flavors. The Dirty Chai cupcake + a good cup of coffee = heaven.
Munera A: In love with this place’ vibes 💯, we picked the vanilla cupcake filled with dolce de lice and the chocolate topping.. it was good but not the best! But the coffee was actually good!

Will Herbst: I showed up 10 minutes before it opened and waited in line for about 20 minutes total. This was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. The bacon egg crescent was so good- the crescent itself was backed with ungodly amounts of flavor. The coffee milk tea is one of the most delicious beverages I’ve consumed. Passion fruit donut was wonderfully spongy. The passion fruit flavor really came across
Eric Finkelstein: Tried a black sesame doughnut, black sesame cookie, pandan coconut doughnut, ensaymada, and coconut mochi puffs. All excellent. The doughnuts were delightfully soft. My and my girlfriend's favorite was both the black sesame doughnut. Preorders were completely sold out, so I had this walk-in. I arrived 12 min after they opened, and waited in line 17 min to purchase.
Aisha Sees: I preordered the doughnuts on Sunday - process was smooth. I arrived after 1 on a weekday and there were plenty of street parking available. Picking up my order was easy but I did notice all the walk-ins were sold out by that time. Ordered 4 doughnuts: passion fruit, guava mousse, strawberry rose lychee, and black sesame. They were all good but the passion fruit one was my absolute favorite. Perfect balance of sweet and tangy, good ratio of filling vs doughnut (filled doughnuts are not my faves but these, I could do!). The dough was fluffy and light. I didn’t want to eat it all in one day so I refrigerated what I had left. Warmed it up a bit in the microwave the next day and it was still delicious.
Desiree Litchford-Rooney: Absolute heaven! I picked up a pre-order with Rose Ave on a vacation trip to DC so I wasn't able to try everything they had but I ordered a half dozen donuts. They were filled donuts with a tender brioche base and omg the fillings had me swooning! I got to try the black sesame (X2), strawberry rose lychee, guava, passion fruit, and pandan coconut donuts. I wasn't sure what to expect since people seem to shove any old flavor into a donut these days for the excitement, whether it works or not, but these flavors were clearly chosen with care and intentionality. My favorite was the black sesame - I had almost like a salted peanut butter flavor but more delicate, and the pandan coconut was so bright and balanced and just completely delicious, ugh I get butterflies just thinking about it lol! Also side note as someone who has worked in food, the way they packed these babies up without squishing a single one was flawless! Anyway if you're hesitant because of the preordering or the bumping crowd I'm here to let you know they're more than worth it!
Khoi Nguyen: This has become one of my favorite bakeries in the area. I'll drive into the city during the weekends just for their baked goods. Highly recommend checking their IG to check availability. I stopped by on a busy Sunday and ordered the Vietnamese coffee, matcha cookie, ube cake slice, Asian pear Kouign Amann, passionfruit, Pandan Coconut, and black sesame donuts. If you don't plan on eating it there fresh. Definitely take it home and toss it in the toaster or air fryer. If you get the donuts they are great after you nuke them in the microwave for a few secs. The Pandan and black sesame donuts were some of the best of ever had. The Kouign Amann is like a really crispy croissant with multiple layers and a fresh jam like compote inside. Really delicious, creative and definitely my favorite. The concept here is awesome like a fusion bakery. Strong French techniques and flavors from Vietnam, Philippines and other Asian countries. I'll definitely be back to try their other signature pastries.
Julia Hsia: No doubt my favorite bakery in the downtown area now… the croissant was a ma zing! 🥐The calamansi yuzu croissant was crazy. Although the egg white smell on the top was slightly strong, the taste was still good. The fruity sourness balanced the sweetness of the cream. Donut was great also, although I’m not a donut fan. I got a ube coconut one. The flavor was good! Definitely coming back again!
Kyndal Wilkie: Delicious donuts with exciting flavor profiles. Their donuts are light, airy, and not greasy. Our favorites have been the passion fruit, ube, and black sesame cookie. However, you won't find a bad thing on the menu.
Christopher Lew: The most popping establishment in The Block food hall in DC! Line was out the door, and we were wondering what everyone was in line for, and then I found out it was for the Rose Ave Bakery, which had been on my list of wanting to try forever!! Rose Ave Bakery is a local Asian American Woman owned bakery that has such a heartwarming story behind them. We ordered the Passion Fruit Donut, Coconut Ube Donut, Strawberry Rose Lychee Donut, and the Black Sesame Donut. The PFD was by far the most delicious with the passion fruit filling. It was perfect - not too sweet. We really enjoyed all the sweets we got, and we don't normally like sweets to begin with! Definitely arrive early, as the stock is limited, and by the time we got to the front, they were running out of certain items.
Kate Sutliff: Amazing bakery! Fantastic assortment of sweet and savory. Be prepared to plan ahead. Pre orders are the best way to get the items you want. Day of, the lines can be really long. Very friendly staff. We take anyone who visits us here.
Isabelle Ku: Sept 2021 This is a small place inside a small food court. There are 2-3 other places (the bar is closed due to covid), and Rose Ave Bakery's counter is very small, tucked into the far corner. The place is clean and there is a unisex bathroom by the bakery. The staff were also friendly, efficient, and the lady I talked to was a bit peppy too. All the staff wore masks. Most of the people in line were picking up preorders. It looked like the staff had all the preorders on a cart to the side behind the counter. Also, there were lots of racks of baked goods and a nice display up front of their available baked items. We ordered a number of pastries, cookies, and a slice of ube cake. The ube cake was very good, strong ube flavor, and the icing wasn't too sweet either. All the donuts were good, dense with a good amount of filling. Only complaint was too much sugar sprinkled on the donuts. The peach was also very fresh and very good. The scallion pancake bun was fluffy and tasty, but I was disappointed at the use of excessive spice which drowned out the scallion flavor. All the cookies were very good. In all, excellent food, if a bit expensive. Will most likely come back, but not regularly. I am very interested in trying more of their ube products.

Kelley Villamor: Found Lala on Instagram and knew instantly I needed to have my daughter’s birthday cake made by her. I ordered a vanilla cake with Oreo filling, as well as a few dozen cakesicles in red velvet, funfetti and cookie butter. All were delicious, but my favorite was definitely the cookie butter! I sent her an inspiration photo for the cake, but ultimately gave her creative freedom to do whatever she wanted. The cake came out so fun! Hai Nguyen: This has to be the most horrible bakery ever on the planet earth. For starters the owner all he does is watches over his parking spaces. He doesn't watch over the store but all he does is hang outside and doesn't let anyone park at his four empty parking spaces. I politely told him I'm going to go to your bakery store to look at your wedding cakes but he doesn't care. I noticed other cars are also trying to park there and he does the same thing to them too. I finally was able to find a parking space a few blocks down the street. Customer service was also pretty bad. The person cared more about playing with their phone than helping me out. Got a cake ordered and went to pick it up two weeks later. I had to wait 3 hours, seems like they forgot and wow, my cake was so embarrassing. It fell apart and the icing wasn't even dry. I think with my non-baking skills that never even baked a single cake in my life, could of done a better job than them. STAY AWAY!!!!

So she asked for help and the lady said "There's noone here to help you"...poor customer service...I see many different ways that could've gone
Solage Polanco: We order a cake there 3 day before the event. They told me to go and pick it up at 5 the party was at 8 I had to wait there for almost 2hour I guess they forgot about the cake. The color was the wrong color so the had to add more color, when I got home I placed the cake in the table went upstairs to get ready when I got back the cake felt apart. I cry ....I think they forgot about the cake and when they so me they started doing. I didn't have a cake for the event, and it tasted terrible because the cake icing was not dry.
Ethan Phung: Was a great place! I ordered a cake there was really quick to order, came by to get the cake a couple hours later and it was delicious, everyone ate a slice. Had to come back for more!
Monica Andrews: Kogibow is a small bakery in Adams Morgan. While the custom cakes look good, I go there for their avocado bubble tea. They've seemed to perfect the tapioca cooking time and have also refused to make the avocado tea when the avocados were not ripe enough, which I see as a true sign of dedication to quality. The mango tea is also quite good.

My favorite was the vegan double chocolate cupcake and the vegan cookies and cream cupcake. Both went really well with unsweetened almond milk. Such a nice treat for date night. Peregrine Sky: Cute, unfortunately no dine in at this time, progressive bakery. Lots of options for all kinds of dietary restrictions, soy, nut, dairy and all gluten free. 18th Street sandwich was amazing! These are certainly the best gluten free pastries I’ve ever had but they are still not delicious like normal pastries!
JT Mitchell: Both the Oreo cupcake and the apple fritter were pretty good. Both are also vegan. I’d say I like the fritter better. Had some good bite to it. The cupcake was tasty. Pretty solid.
Lauren Canaday: Loved my grilled cheese and vanilla cupcake 😋 gluten free done right! (I didn't get the ice cream or iced tea there - that's just the photo I took.) I used doordash to get delivery on a busy day of conferences.
Tee Cole: Recently gone gluten-free so I'm in search of bakeries that specialize in that option. Very friendly staff. The brioche bread was the best! Unfortunately the cupcakes were too dry for my taste and the strawberry pastry didn't taste like strawberries. We drove from NW Baltimore just to try it out. Can't say I'll take that 45 min drive again.
Anna L: Very very happy with my experience at rise. Got the 18th street sandwich - delicious bread with arugula, herbed Mayo, bacon, and tomato. I also got a cherry turnover that was amazing. Yet to try the cheddar jalapeño loaf and the strawberry cheesecake but they look great. Can’t wait to come back another time.

Bad Birdi: Was traveling through DC and came upon this gem. I have celiac disease and I was literally blown away by the food here. The biscuits were the best thing I've eaten in a long time. I ended up spending oodles of dollars on baked goods and I'm so very happy I did!
LP: Cute little gluten free shop with additional egg nut and soy free options. First gluten free spot I’ve tried that is moist and flavorful. Yum! I got the raspberry danish.

Abhinav: We were recommended this place by many as we were visiting DC. We waited in the line for 10 minutes to get in. The frosting of the cupcakes was great but the cupcake texture pretty average. $20 for half dozen cupcakes felt expensive. No need to try their beverages if it’s your thing. There are far better beverage places. Food4/5 Ambience 5/5 Service 5/5
Aisha C: As a tourist this place comes highly recommended but sadly I thought the cupcakes were just OK! I loved the variety of cupcakes and even opted for some vegan/gluten free selections but I was underwhelmed by the flavor and texture (which was more like a muffin). The cupcakes are very dense! happy I got to try it but would opt to go to another cupcake bakery in the future.
Carole Stewart: I would give them zero stars if I could. I ordered these on my visit to DC because I heard about them. When I opened the box this is what they looked like. I even had two vegan ones in it because of a dairy allergy. And there is no way I could tell which one was vegan. I sent two emails with pictures with NO response.$38 for a dozen cupcakes that look like this is unacceptable. This definitely is a tourist trap. NOT worth it!. Save your money.
Matthew Hsu: I heard about Georgetown Cupcakes and decided to give it a try since I was in the area. The line to get in was long. I waited for about 20 minutes. They have quite a bit of variety of cupcakes and all tasted pretty good. The packaging is quite impressive as well. The location is about an 8 minute walk from Georgetown University.
Ellen: This is based on mere preference, but I didn't like the texture of their frosting; it was too frothy. My friend liked it though. I liked the texture of the cupcake; it was dense. I was pleasantly surprised by the peanut butter frosting with chocolate cupcake. The coffee cookies n' creme cupcake had a strong coffee taste that I liked. The server could have been more helpful.
Kiki Fasbender: Georgetown Cupcake was fantastic. Our bus broke down outside (we think it was destiny!!) of their shop and they handled 33 of us like pros. I highly recommend the coffee toffee and my son loved the Dad Chocolate. We both washed them down with a big glass of Whole Milk. We love whole milk and were thrilled they had that as an option.
Wendy Gao: I've heard good things about this place but they didn't live up to the hype. The cupcakes were surprisingly dense, almost like a condensed cupcake or a muffin, definitely not light and fluffy. Taste wise, it ranged from pretty good to awful/weird depending on the flavor. The lemon blossom was the best out of the ones I tried, the cheesecake was great - although not really a cupcake it was more of a cheesecake base, and the lavender Earl grey was my least favorite. Most of the flavors was in the icing and not really the base. The buttercream frosting was really sweet to me, but the cream cheese frostings were pretty good and just the right touch of sweetness. I would consider getting them again, but wouldn't go out of my way for them again.
Renee Kar-Johnson: The best cupcakes I have ever had in my life. The new flavors really got me and made me feel some kind of way. I waited in line for a hour and a half and I would do it again. They ran out of tea so they even gave me a free cupcake. I can’t even imagine why people like baked and wired ;)
Jason Lin: Be prepared to wait if you didn’t order ahead. To us, their cupcakes were just okay/average. We visited Georgetown Cupcake on a Tuesday evening. There was a long line outside the door (as currently they only allow one party in the store at one time). It was a 50 minute wait for us (arrived ~5:35pm, got our cupcakes ~6:25pm). As they close at 7pm, and more people were still coming, one of the employees came outside a little after 6pm to announce that they only had very limited flavors left for the day. It was nice they did this. The ordering process wasn’t very efficient; the employee pretty much needed to explain to each group of customers about what flavors they still had. If this can be digitized on a display (with counts would be awesome) it would make ordering a much smoother and quicker process. As for the taste of their cupcakes, we felt they were just average. The bread part was on the dry/firm side. Their size was on the smaller end. Icing was okay; some flavors were too sweet and some were just right (we prefer not too sweet). Other than some flavors being nicely decorated, we felt overall they’re not that special and not worth $3.75 a piece. All in all, as it’s an extremely popular place, we wanted to give it a try. Now we have done it, will we go back? Maybe not, not with this type of wait line and this price - to us it’s not worth it. I’m sure a lot of people love their cupcakes, whether it’s because of their taste, decorations, or just name brand, but unfortunately they didn’t amaze us. It’s still good to see them become an iconic and successful business in this area and we still hope they continue to do well and serve many many more customers in the years to come.
Surprise Pikachu: I thought they were delicious, the strawberry was my favorite (frosting tasted like the häagan-daz strawberry ice-cream but soft and light, kind of melts in the mouth) and I enjoyed all the flavors. I waited 20 minutes and only went because I was curious to try them. I wonder if all these reviews saying they were just "ok" are just because people over hyped them and expected something magical? They are definitely better than ok, they are very good. I'm not a huge cupcake person but I do love sweets, and I would definitely get them again and recommend them. The frosting was incredibly flavorful and the ratio of frosting to cake was perfect for my taste. They also look very pretty. I think the price is reasonable, DC is an expensive area, and they are well known.

The strawberry was lacking strawberry flavor the only thing that had strawberry was the frosting. Everything else was decent. But for the price I was highly disappointed because there are so many other options in DC. I wont be returning unfortunately.

Vijay Joshi: I absolutely love Pluma. I steadily made my way through the menu after living nearby for a year. Their baked goods are fantastic (pistachio croissant and morning bun especially), but I really adore Pluma for their breakfast/lunch food. Having tried mainstays (Croque madame, avo toast, breakfast sammy's, etc.) and seasonal specialties (ramp toast, fried chicken sandwich), I was consistently enamored with the meals. Their breakfast sammy #2 goes craaaazy with the double fennel sausage, the Croque madame was the best I've ever had, and the fried chicken sandwich blew me away given the sheer proportions, herbal flavor explosions, and immaculate bread. Also, definitely try the hot sauces they keep by the utensils. Since they're a bakery, of course, their bread is top-notch, but they also source the rest of their ingredients exceptionally. While not cheap, Pluma always felt like a great use of money, unlike Union Market around the corner where everything feels overpriced. A couple of notes: they only serve food-to-go, and since the kitchen is not their main purpose, hot food can take a little while. Be patient, and good things will come.

Shelbi Svoboda: Pluma is an elegant bakery that the NE didn't know we needed! The pastries are fresh and brought out of their open kitchen to the front counters throughout your time so there's always something new and fresh to try. The latte ($4) is possibly the best I've had in DC. The breakfast sammy has port belly, pesto, and an egg open faced on delicious - if hard to cut - bread for $9.5. I highly recommend the avocado toast with an egg ($5.5 plus egg). Seating is limited so probably not wise for a group over four.
Meg Voorhis: Upscale bakery and coffee spot in the greater union market corridor. Fresh savory vegetarian options and good bread, but a bit pricy (~$50 lunch for 4 items) and service from the made to order menu was slow.
Hannah Yoo: Best pastries in the city!! Seriously I always try to stop in for a bite then end up eating the entire pastry case. I especially love the croissants and morning buns, and they also have beautiful salads and yummy pizzas. Also love that it’s a small business owned by locals. Love spending all day here drinking coffee and catching up with friends on weekends. Neighborhood gem!

Sophie: The cupcakes are very pretty and the texture of both the cake and frosting was good. That said, the flavors were lacking. We got half a dozen. The spice cake was good but beyond that...eh. If they were cheaper I'd be happy to give them 4 stars but alas, as $3+ each, it's just not worth it unless you're really craving cupcakes and don't feel like baking.
Lylah Story: Red Velvet Cupcakes is located within another establishment. Which meant that they were open earlier than 11:30am, which was a good thing but I did not like the fact that it did not smell like cupcakes when I walked in😔. My inner PhatGurl was let down!!!
Eric Knapke: Purchased one of their daily special cupcakes which looked delicious. It was a mint cake with chocolate frosting. The frosting to cake ratio was spot on and the texture of the cake was great, incredibly moist. The biggest disappointment was in the flavors. The frosting had minimal chocolate flavor and I would have never guessed the cake was mint if they hadn't said so.
Lani: My last order was bad. The cupcakes here have too much variance in quality. Sometimes the chocolate cupcake is perfect, this last time the frosting was extremely bitter. I’ve bought the red velvet- The signature - and it can taste bland some days and flavorful other times. Summertime is another favorite and it’s been dry/stale before and moist other times. These cupcakes are way too the expensive to not taste that well. This last time was a waste of money. 5/6 of the cupcakes we bought just didn’t taste right. Unfortunately the quality has gone down. I’ve been buying RVC for 4-5 years, I used to frequent the location by the arena downtown. But this location one is not as consistent. I’ve visited this one 5 times. I probably won’t shop here anymore due to that disappointment.
Donna Bruce: 1. The woman on the phone who took my order was incredibly rude and kept calling me dear. 2. The order arrived through UberEats and was WRONG. I specifically requested certain flavor cupcakes which she said she would provide and then sent what she felt like sending. Including coconut which I did not order. 3. When I called to complain, I was told she did the best she could and that they were very busy today so she sent what she could. If she had been honest, I would not have placed the order. My biggest issue is when you spend $60 for 12 cupcakes and you don't receive what you ask for and are treated like I should be lucky she sent anything, THAT IS A PROBLEM. Will not go back to this Cupcakery again. Not the only game in town.

George Washington: I ordered/pre-paid a dozen 5 days in advance with specific pick up time per their request...the order wasn't ready and the the staff was neither professional nor apologetic. Overpriced for mediocre product and shoddy service. Won't go back, Georgetown Cupcake is just down the road.
Conchita Lawrence: I'm always looking for a great cupcake place. Still searching. Saw the mixed reviews on this site and I understand why. I got 2 red velvet which were delicious the icing is all of that. But I didn't fare that well on the carrot cupcake. While the icing is the same, very delicious and creamy, the cake itself was dry, not moist at all and seemed a day old. When I walked up, it's in a restaurant the sign says that they would seat you, I wasn't trying to be seated I just wanted to see the cupcake options and not on the menu. But overall the red velvet cupcakes are good.
Christina Johnson: So I went to the Red Velvet Cupcakery and didn’t realize its nesltled inside of another restaurant. No biggie though. Staff was friendly and the decor was cute. It’s a rustic city feel and I like that, especially in Chevy Chase. After purchasing several flavors, I was delighted to take them home to my girls and enjoy them for an afternoon snack. While I actually liked the cream cheese icing (on the carrot cake and red velvet flavors), the vanilla icing was a little bland. The cupcakes were dry...like very dry. Three of us felt the same way and these girls are expert cupcake eaters so they’d know🙂. I suppose if you just need a sweet tooth fix they’ll do but the cupcakes are a solid C- in my book. Good luck!

Shalette Brown: I’d like to say that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I have ppl trying to hook me up or get me to use their products and services but I typically refuse, cause I love All American Bakery and what they have to offer, from the point system, to the birthday special / complimentary offering, to the friendly and welcoming staff I’ve had the pleasure to meet and interact with. The environment is very down to earth and honestly I can go on and on. REEL LIVE T.V: Terrible Company For Employment... I say that because I had completed a full interview process 2 zoom meeting and was sent to be tested for COVID-19 twice, paying money for parking and gas. I was offered the position and received an offer of 41,600 salary position as manager. I was told to show up at work and call HR upon arrival. I did that and was told not to enter the building, with no explanation and I wasn't able to contact anyone from the higher ups to solve this issue. Eventually someone contacted me to tell me my schedule. I showed up on time the building was closed. I think as a professional company I wouldn't give them .5 stars, Terrible communication and business ethics. Sad Sad Sad is all I can say and wouldn't recommend anyone to spend a dime with these people.

Antonio Jones Special Educator: I've been coming here for years and just noticed the debit card scam that they have going on. I purchased 2 prerolls, which comes to $22 with taxes, fees,etc. Each time that I use my card, they charge $28 instead. They said it's an ATM fee. Other dispensaries have a similar policy; however, they at least give u the ATM fee back in cash. Not only does All American Bakery keep the ATM fee, they over charge you and then offer you a mask that you can get for free, anywhere in DC. BS to the max. USE CASH ONLY!!!!!

Vi: One of the best strawberry cakes i have ever tasted. I was hosting a bridal shower for my sister and it was a task to find a baker who would meet the expectation. I had a preferred design and shared same with baker, they did promise me they would try to make a similar one but i must say !! They were beyond my expectations. Also, i ordered some cup cakes and they were AMAZING !! definitely would visit this place again.
Elizabeth and Thomas Breckenridge: Creative Cakes did a wonderful cake for our daughter's 9th birthday. They were quick to respond and very happy to brainstorm with us on a good design. The cake was more adorable than we could have imagined - they really outdid themselves. We all loved it! Everyone at the party thought it was not only beautiful but delicious. Michael Charles (Mike): I have to say the cupcakes I had (strawberry and vanilla with vanilla frosting) were the best I've ever had. The cake part was moist and delicious, and the frosting was soft and perfectly sweet (not overly sweet, and just buttery enough). I don't know what the bad reviews are for, but for me I was very satisfied and will definitely be back there. I didn't buy a cake, however, so I cannot say how the cakes are. They do look beautiful though.

Raphael Robinson: I was so disappointed with this place. I ordered a round family tree themed cake. I sent them pictures of my vision for the cake and they said no problem. My brother in law picked up the cake and brought it to my dads house. When I opened the box, I thought it was a prank. Please see pics below. Cake on the left is what I wanted. Cake on the right is what I got. The cake looked like it was done by a second grader. From the tree to the “grass” everything was just sloppy and poorly executed. Some of the writing looked like it was done by a third grader. I wanted little squirrels like the picture and the squirrels they made looked like huge rats. After all that, the cake wasn’t even good. Wasn’t worth the money at all.
Emeraude Victorin: My husband and I had a great experience with Creative Cakes. They were our first cake taste testing and we immediately fell in love with one particular flavor. However, we decided to keep our other appointments. After what felt like one hundred tours around the state we came right back to them because nothing we tasted could top what we had sampled at Creative Cakes. I'll never forget the attention to details that went into making the cake and how they matched the color scheme. They delivered to our venue on time and without a hitch and 2 years later I still get questions about the cake flavor and who made it.
MARIA CORTEZ: Got my daughters first birthday cake here. It was amazing. I love their classic Vanilla on vanilla and chocolate with vanilla so light and fluffy. Highly recommend their cupcakes.
Justin Neclos: I visited this place on 6/8/22 to see about ordering cakes for a corporate event for my job. I entered the location and let her know what company I was from and before I could inquire any further she kicked me and my coworker out using profane language and even went as far as snatching her business card out of my hands. I'm not sure what she thought I was there for but it was very unprofessional and insulting. we had a budget of $3000 for deserts so she missed out on a bunch of revenue and return business jumping to conclusions. DO NOT GET ANYTHING FROM HERE!!

Seylou Bakery: what do users think?
Da-Wang Wu: First time buying from this bakery. The cheese scone and croissant were pretty good, but we didn’t enjoy the bird bread that much. I guess people who like nutty texture might enjoy it more. I ordered mocha, and the staff told me that I couldn’t adjust the level of sweetness because they used chocolate milk to make the mocha, which was a bit weird for me. Would look forward to trying some other breads in the future since they actually look pretty good!
Vivian Lu: This is a small local bakery, so I'm glad that we visited. Everyone was very nice. With that being said, I'm not convinced that whole grain works well for all baked goods, and I can't recommend stopping by. We had the croissant and although the crust looked properly flaky, it had the soft, wet consistency of under-baked bread inside. The quality of the bread also seems to vary day by day. The bread is good when it's good, but again, wet and under-baked on bad days.
dan altman: I really enjoy stopping by to buy bread when I'm in DC. It's great that they mill their own flour which is locally grown in some cases. A dough made with lots of water and natural leaven will require intense heat to help the bread rise. This can cause a slightly burnt crust, which I like. The reason for the 3 stars is that the bread can be inconsistent in terms of proofing or timing to be baked. This causes the dough to callapse creating pockets at the top of the bread and a dense more doughy bottom. Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to give feedback if you don't live local, so they can work on remedying the problem. I would hope for better at these prices. I think the owner may be one of the best bread bakers anywhere, but he has other doing the baking now. I will keep visiting Seylou Bakery, but next time ask they cut the loaf before buying. Hopefully they won't have a problem with my request.
Michelle Keller: Gorgeous bakery in a modern space. I had the buckwheat strawberry muffin, which was delicious. Excellent crumb, not too dense, with whole strawberries baked right in. I also had the vegetable frittata. The texture was divine, light and airy.
Christine S: Small local bakeries are all the hype nowadays, so I’d add Seylou to your list if you’re a fan of whole grain pastries and sourdough. I’m a croissant fiend, so I had to try their whole wheat almond croissant. Certainly one of the more unique croissants I’ve ever tried– if you’re expecting a flaky and buttery croissant, you won’t find it here. If you’re looking for a seemingly healthier and heartier croissant, then Seylou is for you. They could have done a better job with the frangipane filling. I also tried their savory monkey bread with spicy peppers and enjoyed the light sourdough flavor.

Mark Blanchard: Seylou more like Fail-ou. Ok I'll start with the staff. They're genuinely super nice and professional, which gets this cafe a second star. The food also looks beautiful. The rest though? Went there with a few friends and we tried several items (6 food items and coffees). Not exaggerating, but we all took a sip of the coffee and looked at each other like "this coffee is disgusting". Ok that happens, maybe a bad batch of coffee? We then dove into the pastries (6 of them). 4 of the pastries were inedible, and the other 2, we ended up eating them, but they were average at best. We literally threw out 4 pastries because they were that awful. I'm not sure who all is going to Seylou and giving it 4 and 5 stars, but have you been to other bakeries in DC? Or are we comparing to gas station pastries? Seriously we tried 6 items, and we literally dumped 4 of these pastries in the trash can. Oh, and 1 more thing... The pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) is whole wheat. What!!!!!! I'm not eating a croissant to be healthy, I don't need it to be whole wheat. Plus you should really be clear that it's whole wheat, because it tastes pretty awful. In short, the staff is absolutely nice, but the food... just... Don't.
Nicole C: Absolutely loved the almond croissant! It had the perfect balance of sweetness. The aromatics and flavor of almond was very apparent. There was also a bit of a body to the croissant that I've never encountered before at other bakeries. Definitely would recommend it!
Breana's Toast: I´ve visited renowned bakeries all over the world and Seylou offers hands down the best bread and pastries I´ve ever had. You can taste the organic locally sourced grain in every single bite! Anyone who lives in the DC area is fortunate to have this piece of grain heaven nearby... And for anyone skeptical about their deep colored loaves, let me assure you that nothing is burnt, everything is baked to perfection. Can´t wait to be back for more!
Mark Woodward: In my view Seylou is the best bakery in the US. I mean that seriously. Everything is freshly milled whole grain and naturally leavened, which is how I like my bread. Seylou entirely disproves the perception that such breads can only be bricks. The quality is the same or better than from places that use bread flour or high extraction flour, and the bread and pastries are both more flavorful and more nutritious. I also appreciate that Seylou supports local farmers, not just by buying and using their wheat and rye, but also by turning other crops (such as buckwheat), which are important parts of organic grain crop rotation, into both breads and delicious pastries. Seylou has been inspirational to me in my own bread baking. 😀

Karen Laska: Love this place!! Everything is delicious, but my favorites are the chocolate zucchini bread, the egg & cheese on a honey thyme biscuit, and the chocolate chip cookies. It’s a great spot for reading or studying, and the staff members are always so nice. Highly recommend it!

Austin: OVERHYPED. The bakery is certainly tasty, however it is more of a cafe. I arrived on a Sunday morning when they were not busy and purchased both a breakfast sandwich and matcha cherry muffin. The muffin was not noticeable burnt, but it was slightly over cooked as the wrapping was sticking to the muffin and was burnt. The breakfast sandwich with the honey thyme biscuit is AMAZING which earned the three stars. The lady at the register was friendly and prompt to assist me, she spoke loud and clearly; something that is rare nowadays with the masks on. It was also $19 for an egg and cheese sandwich, muffin and a small latte… with oat milk which is like 50¢… I don’t mind paying that if it’s tasty, but it wasn’t.

Maritza Cooper: What a wonderful place to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy with a delicious desert or sandwich. Their decor is lovely. We went for a special Comedy night held by the Armed Services ARTS Partnership! The barista on duty did an amazing job of not only cleaning up for the nite, but set up the food and refreshments flawlessly. She made sure my 7 year old granddaughter was comfortable and well fed. I will be back. Love the idea of empowering Vets! And teaching them business skills to succeed after their service ! Great job Dog Tag Bakery!

Courtney Garritt: Oh my gosh! Robin saved my event! We had a cake emergency, for my other cake from any other company was cancelled literally 5 hours before the party. Jenell Rivers: I order my cake two weeks in advance. I had some back and forth on the design but finally settled on a cake with drizzle and flowers. I bought a jersey cake also. The jersey cake was good but mine was dry. In addition I asked for my name and 40th birthday to be added to the cake and it was added after I mentioned this. My pick up time was delayed to 2 hours after, when I arrived my cake was not ready. Disappointed on the presentation as black icing was placed on a pink and white cake. This was a milestone birthday for me and barely took pics of my cake. I also asked for white drizzle and it was pink. I paid for my cakes in advance will never do that again. Did not know she had a dog either, I think that should explained to customer when they call. First and last time getting a cake here.
Cindy Gray: I contact Bobbie's cake on a Monday and she said she could do my niece's wedding cake. I contacted Bobbie about 4 times during that week to make sure she could make that cake. I finally talk with her on that Thursday of the week. I agree to pick up the cake at 2pm. I arrived 1:55pm to pick up the cake. I gave her a call to let her know i was outside to pick up the cake. She was very rude and hung up the phone on me. I guess the cake was not ready at 2pm. I waited in my car 30 minutes before she brought the cake out. Very bad business.
Tika Mckissic: Ms Bobbi is really nice but it tastes like a regular cake and it was really crumbly . Also, my son’s name was spelled wrong on the cake! If I’m paying over $100 I expect it to be delicious and no mistakes . Thank you Ms. Bobbi for pleasant conversation and for squeezing me into your schedule, but it’s nothing how I had imagined and I’m disappointed. I ended up trashing MORE than half of the cake . Definitely a waste of money sadly .
