Arepa Zone: what do users think?

Carol C: Cute place and great food! I got the patacon (12$) and a caramel macchiato (4.75$). They also had a whole bunch of Venezuelan snacks and drinks at the counter. I highly recommend this place!

Anakarenina Pérez: Amazing place! I love the food, it's like taking a quick trip to Venezuela, and all the memories come back like it was yesterday!
Response: Thanks for your kind review!

Jonathan Allen: I love them! Their food tastes authentic and is ready quickly. Staff is always very friendly. It reminds me of food I’d eat back home.

Victor Wang: Went with the mini arepa flight trio. Got to try the chicken, pork, and beef options. Quite delicious and a little more variety than one larger arepa. Also ordered the Tequeños Queso Fritos Party which was a nice appetizer with the sauce and cheesy inside.

Steph D: This is a great restaurant to try out arepas with different fillings. I ordered the meat lovers flight mini arepa trio which included Chicken & Avocado, Shredded Beef and Shredded Chicken arepas. The arepas look really small so you think it's but going to be very filling but the arepas are stuffed to the max so I was very full after having the 3 small arepas The Shredded Chicken and Shredded Beef arepas were by favourite. The Shredded Chicken & Avocado was ok but if I had a choice I wouldn't order that one again.
Response: Thanks, Steph!

Carlos Perez: ArepaZone is a great place, great authentic Venezuelan food, clean space and fairly priced. The cachapas con Queso are CRAZY GOOD

Chetan Katakia: This place is great. The portion size was good. However the flavors were top notch. I had ordered the mini arepa trios and wasn't disappointed. The desert was also fantastic. This had anise, so if you're not a favor of licorice, you might not enjoy it. All in all I had a great time and the food was so good, I'll be back.

udoy datta: Awesome food! We really enjoyed the authentic taste of South American food.
Response: Thanks so much for your review!

Patrick O'Leary: OMG just leave me here to eat, go on without me.Arepa Zone also have a food truck, I just want to live closerThe cheese, plantains, meats are to die for

Darragh Joyce: Great spot adored by locals. This spot was targeted by groups of nazis from West Virginia who left unfair 1 star reviews for asking them to wear masks. This location has been a staple in the community for years and is adored by residents of DC. Great food, great staff, and convenient location just south of Thomas Circle. Great place to go to cure your hangover too! ;)
Response: Thanks Darragh! Your review made us chuckle. We're glad we've been able to cure your hangovers - haha!

Firehook Bakery: what do users think?

Luke: I love this place. Excellent pastries, cakes, coffee, bread, and more. Seriously, DC is lucky to have this place. Staff are really nice and it's a comfy space to sit and relax. There's nice sunshine in the early morning at the sidewalk tables and window. Check it out!

Molly Cooper: I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! We both got an americano (one hot, one iced) with oat milk. It was only around $8 which for DC I was expecting way more. The people working were so nice! I also grabbed sugar to put in it but it didn’t need it at all! This is the best coffee I’ve had in ages! It made me so happy :) thanks guys!!

Trip Taker: This is a gem of a place! We went there 3 mornings in a row! Their sausage breakfast croissant is top notch. Cheese Danish is solid and their desserts are good quality. We tried what we thought was lemon meringue pie...turns out it was a passion fruit meringue. Not what we were expecting but good nonetheless. The customer service is good...right after walking in the door someone greets you and asks if they can help. Seems like a basic concept but post-covid it seems like it's not so basic with the new help or lack of help. Firehook is a must-try!

P. B.: Possibly the nicest coffee and goodies I have tasted in Washington.Excellent service, with friendly staff.Try the Almond Biscotti as treat for home.

Sonia Chlup: What a lovely bakery. Friendly staff, well priced pastries. Will be back before leaving Washington.

Mary P: Ordered two cakes here. Vanilla strawberry was very good 4/5 stars. The chocolate mouse cake- the mouse was delicious, but the cake was dry and had no flavor! Everyone agreed mouse was the only good part about that cake. Didn’t taste like chocolate at all 2/5. Easy ordering and pickup. They had no bag for two large cake boxes so bring your own. Also, one box had frosting on the bottom so we had to ask to be re-boxed so we wouldn’t get on our clothes. Would try again but not order the chocolate mouse cake.

Hanna Foreman: The coffee and pastries here are at great prices for the area. Highly recommend the lattes and cappuccinos here. The cookies are to die for and highly recommend the ginger cookies. Croissants here could be a little warmer, but the savory ones are generous with the cheese. The staff is always super friendly.

Manasi Kabadi: Love this bakery. They have so much variety. Their breads are really good too.

Maureen “SooHyunFan”: I got the lemon poppy pound cake because one of the workers said it's tasty. However, it's very dry and the texture is like that of sand! What a waste of money! Maybe some of their baked goods are good but the pound cakes are not.

Michael C: The cakes aren’t very good. Mine was soggy and tasteless

Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats: what do users think?

Christina S: Such a variety of vegan desserts. Loved their donuts (although not better than Dottie's donuts in Philadelphia). Texture's great, maybe a bit better flavoring. Tasted great, but the strawberry and cream didn't taste like strawberry. I also tried the triple chocolate, maybe it could use a glaze, but I'm really not complaining. Next time I'll try the vanilla glaze and any other new flavors they might have. I LOVED their fudge brownie! Not too fudge-y, not too cake-y. Perfect chocolate chip cookies! Excellent cinnamon buns too. We also bought their cookie mix we'll bake at home. I will definitely go back when I'm in D.C.

Dwayne Martin: Customer service was absolutely great. I was purchasing some treats for my vegan roommates birthday and they gave great recommendations and he loved it. Definitely will be coming back.

Jessica Williams: Love, love love! I’m severely allergic to milk. So this is really my only option if I want dairy free cupcakes from a bakery. The carrot cake cupcakes, coconut, and red velvet cupcakes are AMAZING!!!!! I know red velvet are around all year. I wish the other two were as well. I’ve been in heaven since picking up my order.

B Fletcher: I've tried various bakeries and sweet shops around DC since I moved here about a year and a half ago. For sweets, this one has impressed me the most. I never buy cookies from a bakery, because it's pretty hard to impress me with a cookie, but I just love the cookies from this place (s'mores cookie is my favorite!). The cupcakes are super tasty, too. I found the vanilla cake a little lackluster, but the red velvet and chocolate were some of the best I've had in a long time. When I want sweets, this place has become my go-to.

Megan: Customer service was poor. The employees didn't greet anyone or say hello, and seemed disinterested during the ordering process. I think we received a "what do you want" when it was our turn at the register. We ordered four cupcakes and a chocolate chip cookie. The cupcakes were average, not overwhelmingly delicious. The cupcakes had chunks of cocoa that hadn't been properly incorporated into the batter. Both the red velvet and yellow cake was sweet and super soft/moist! The chocolate cupcakes were super dry though. The frostings were flavorful with a nice thick consistency and really saved the cake. The chocolate chip cookie was amazing! This was the highlight of the items we tried. I would give the cookie alone 5 stars. Pricing was also very fair! $3.00 for most cupcakes can't be beat.
Response: Thank you for your feedback, Megan. Hope to see you back soon to try some of our other items.

Queen Afua: It was a treat in itself omg I had the matcha tea and an apple cupcake it was Heavenly and everything is vegan which is a plus for me

Risa Lewis: Can't speak to all the treats there, but the devil cake ganache thing that was suggested to me tasted almost entirely of baking soda :( The cake was moist and the sweet frosting in the middle was okay, but even the ganache was bland and sad. Maybe other stuff is better, but it was overall a flavor bummer.

Maria I: I had high hopes for this place and ordered a dozen cupcakes for work. I only tried the red velvet and the frosting was too sweet and the cake was not flavorful.

Carla Godoy: I have lived in Columbia heights now for over 10 years and have always seen sticky fingers bakery but have never actually been there. But now since I am a vegan, let me tell you this is the perfect place. The cupcakes are to die for, and so is the rueban with sweet potato fries. My favorite is the sticky buns on my way to college.

Edward Parsons: Was super excited to visited Sticky Fingers. I fondly recall watching the owner on Cup Cake Wars and pulled for her because of her vegan values. After a year of living in DC, I took my family to the store. My wife was given a piece of the double chocolate cake, and we had to experience the shop for ourselves. Expectations were high for Sticky! When we walked in I initially thought that the neo look was interesting...but after looking around the store it seemed to be randomness that I found difficult to connect with. When I order, the employee seemed to be rushed and somewhat annoyed. The store was not very clean. The products that I bought were tasty, but the entire experience left me wondering...is this the true Sticky Finger experience...? I hope not. I will be giving Sticky another try, but sometime you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Arepas Pues: what do users think?

MB Official: The food was TERRIBLE tonight. 🤢 The first few times I came here it was pretty okay but the food was absolutely terrible tonight & the service has CONSISTENTLY been declining. I will not recommend any longer. The food looked & tasted like they just THREW IT together. I absolutely did NOT appreciate the service tonight. Prior to coming in I wanted to place an order over the phone to pick up & pay for upon arrival & was told that I have to give my credit card number over the phone. Who trusts giving their card over the phone? Not me. That's pure madness. I told the girl that I'd be coming in & I'd wanted my order prepared before my arrival. When I entered she whispered something to the only two women cooks present who looked at me & presented me with food that I (& my family) absolutely hated. I've patronized this business several times but it looks like they're no longer worth the investment from me or my family. The food tonight was bad.

Luisa Romaña: The services has changed a lot! Today I just got a picada and honestly it was 80% arepa and yuca and no to much meat. The arepa taste old. I don’t recommend the picada for a $19.08 you can see the picture

Natasha Shokouhi: We had been wanting to try this spot since their grand opening. Arepas Pues has such great reviews and high Yelp rating, so we were surprised to see that they were so dead on a Friday evening. Especially when all the restaurants in the area were packed. The restaurant is on the smaller side. The dining room isn't very big and it isn't an open layout. There are two small areas with some tables. Not the best layout for a restaurant. It feels a little stuffy and doesn't seem very handicap accessible. We had... Fried Egg Arepa Baked Chicken, Egg & Cheese Arepa Carne Asada Entrée Arroz con Pollo Everything was decent. We weren't impressed. The best things were probably the Arepas. The main entrées weren't as good as we expected. The presentation was great. Portions were very generous. Prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. Service was good but a tad slow, especially for being not busy. Another table was seated a good 10 minutes after us but got all their food before us. We don't plan on coming back. Nothing really screamed out to us.

Miguel Pacheco: Food is good just not a fan of the sausage and ground beef a little dry. Do we tip to get service? You don't know what to do with the dirty dishes at the end and they don't bother to take them from the table or tell you what to do with them (Comfusing) and no thank you nothing so service ain't great.

Eddy Sur: I am so sad about this place to know that it's going down hill ever since it started, it was customer service with table service and the food was fresher. As you can see in the pictures the chicken is dry it was 6:44pm when I got served and I asked when was the chicken made the server told me it was made 5pm this just let's me know that they aren't making many things fresh. They don't have dressings for salads ready. I am sad to say that this might be one of those places that will close soon. Since its losing a lot of the original origin of Colombian roots. It went from a quality service to serve yourself type of scenario this could have been a great restaurant with very promising future to even franchise out like arepa zone, and let's look at aroma cafe in Virginia its improved 10 times more than this place. I am sad to say that this will be the last time I will be coming here I would rather go to any other restaurant in the area for fresh food. Maybe this place should just stick to arepas and that is it. This is my honest review. You can definitely judge for yourself.

Alexandra & Jeremy: The food here is really good. Every once in awhile you get an arepa that's dry or doesn't have much flavor, but overall the combinations are excellent, and some of their other dishes are delicious too. The chicharron is yummy and decadent, the tostada with guacamole is tasty, the sweet corn arepa with salty cheese is awesome ( I mean, honestly we ordered it for our daughter, and we ate more than half of it ourselves), the Cubano sandwich is the real deal (no cold cuts here!) However, if you're in a hurry, don't bother. The service is extremely slow. They've also gotten my order wrong a couple times for carry out. So, if we were just rating on service, we'd give it one star, but because the food is so good and it's a nice little restaurant located in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, we give it 4!

Carolyn Frank: My friend and I enjoyed lunch here, as she had recently returned from a trip to Columbia. She drank an Agua Panela con limon, explained as hardened sugar cane juice made into a lemonade-like drink. I enjoyed a glass of guava juice watered down with water. We split an order of Tajadas, fried plantain slices, which were served piping hot and perfectly tender. Arepas are related to tortillas but are made from a finely ground precooked corn dough in Coumbia and Venezuela. She enjoyed an Arepas Pabelion, an Arepas split into a pocket filled with black beans, shredded beef and fried sweet plantain. I liked all of the four options in my mini Arepas tasting basket: chicken, shredded beef, roasted pork and avocado.

Alex Melgar: Pretty good arepas, i liked the Postobon. I liked the little items on display. Very quiet night

Paul Meirthew Jr: The place is small but all the food is big in flavor. Don't be put off by the size of this place! Just walk up to the counter ask for a menu, order your food have a seat wherever you can find one and enjoy. All the staff was extremely friendly and willing to help with any questions. The accept Cash and Credit.

W Chen: Portion is huge. Salad in the picture comes with fish entree. Plantain chips are thick, not greasy and crispy. Super delicious! Will definitely visit again.

Rose Ave Bakery: what do users think?

Will Herbst: I showed up 10 minutes before it opened and waited in line for about 20 minutes total. This was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. The bacon egg crescent was so good- the crescent itself was backed with ungodly amounts of flavor. The coffee milk tea is one of the most delicious beverages I’ve consumed. Passion fruit donut was wonderfully spongy. The passion fruit flavor really came across

Eric Finkelstein: Tried a black sesame doughnut, black sesame cookie, pandan coconut doughnut, ensaymada, and coconut mochi puffs. All excellent. The doughnuts were delightfully soft. My and my girlfriend's favorite was both the black sesame doughnut. Preorders were completely sold out, so I had this walk-in. I arrived 12 min after they opened, and waited in line 17 min to purchase.

Aisha Sees: I preordered the doughnuts on Sunday - process was smooth. I arrived after 1 on a weekday and there were plenty of street parking available. Picking up my order was easy but I did notice all the walk-ins were sold out by that time. Ordered 4 doughnuts: passion fruit, guava mousse, strawberry rose lychee, and black sesame. They were all good but the passion fruit one was my absolute favorite. Perfect balance of sweet and tangy, good ratio of filling vs doughnut (filled doughnuts are not my faves but these, I could do!). The dough was fluffy and light. I didn’t want to eat it all in one day so I refrigerated what I had left. Warmed it up a bit in the microwave the next day and it was still delicious.

Desiree Litchford-Rooney: Absolute heaven! I picked up a pre-order with Rose Ave on a vacation trip to DC so I wasn't able to try everything they had but I ordered a half dozen donuts. They were filled donuts with a tender brioche base and omg the fillings had me swooning! I got to try the black sesame (X2), strawberry rose lychee, guava, passion fruit, and pandan coconut donuts. I wasn't sure what to expect since people seem to shove any old flavor into a donut these days for the excitement, whether it works or not, but these flavors were clearly chosen with care and intentionality. My favorite was the black sesame - I had almost like a salted peanut butter flavor but more delicate, and the pandan coconut was so bright and balanced and just completely delicious, ugh I get butterflies just thinking about it lol! Also side note as someone who has worked in food, the way they packed these babies up without squishing a single one was flawless! Anyway if you're hesitant because of the preordering or the bumping crowd I'm here to let you know they're more than worth it!

Khoi Nguyen: This has become one of my favorite bakeries in the area. I'll drive into the city during the weekends just for their baked goods. Highly recommend checking their IG to check availability. I stopped by on a busy Sunday and ordered the Vietnamese coffee, matcha cookie, ube cake slice, Asian pear Kouign Amann, passionfruit, Pandan Coconut, and black sesame donuts. If you don't plan on eating it there fresh. Definitely take it home and toss it in the toaster or air fryer. If you get the donuts they are great after you nuke them in the microwave for a few secs. The Pandan and black sesame donuts were some of the best of ever had. The Kouign Amann is like a really crispy croissant with multiple layers and a fresh jam like compote inside. Really delicious, creative and definitely my favorite. The concept here is awesome like a fusion bakery. Strong French techniques and flavors from Vietnam, Philippines and other Asian countries. I'll definitely be back to try their other signature pastries.

Julia Hsia: No doubt my favorite bakery in the downtown area now… the croissant was a ma zing! 🥐The calamansi yuzu croissant was crazy. Although the egg white smell on the top was slightly strong, the taste was still good. The fruity sourness balanced the sweetness of the cream. Donut was great also, although I’m not a donut fan. I got a ube coconut one. The flavor was good! Definitely coming back again!

Kyndal Wilkie: Delicious donuts with exciting flavor profiles. Their donuts are light, airy, and not greasy. Our favorites have been the passion fruit, ube, and black sesame cookie. However, you won't find a bad thing on the menu.

Christopher Lew: The most popping establishment in The Block food hall in DC! Line was out the door, and we were wondering what everyone was in line for, and then I found out it was for the Rose Ave Bakery, which had been on my list of wanting to try forever!! Rose Ave Bakery is a local Asian American Woman owned bakery that has such a heartwarming story behind them. We ordered the Passion Fruit Donut, Coconut Ube Donut, Strawberry Rose Lychee Donut, and the Black Sesame Donut. The PFD was by far the most delicious with the passion fruit filling. It was perfect - not too sweet. We really enjoyed all the sweets we got, and we don't normally like sweets to begin with! Definitely arrive early, as the stock is limited, and by the time we got to the front, they were running out of certain items.

Kate Sutliff: Amazing bakery! Fantastic assortment of sweet and savory. Be prepared to plan ahead. Pre orders are the best way to get the items you want. Day of, the lines can be really long. Very friendly staff. We take anyone who visits us here.

Isabelle Ku: Sept 2021 This is a small place inside a small food court. There are 2-3 other places (the bar is closed due to covid), and Rose Ave Bakery's counter is very small, tucked into the far corner. The place is clean and there is a unisex bathroom by the bakery. The staff were also friendly, efficient, and the lady I talked to was a bit peppy too. All the staff wore masks. Most of the people in line were picking up preorders. It looked like the staff had all the preorders on a cart to the side behind the counter. Also, there were lots of racks of baked goods and a nice display up front of their available baked items. We ordered a number of pastries, cookies, and a slice of ube cake. The ube cake was very good, strong ube flavor, and the icing wasn't too sweet either. All the donuts were good, dense with a good amount of filling. Only complaint was too much sugar sprinkled on the donuts. The peach was also very fresh and very good. The scallion pancake bun was fluffy and tasty, but I was disappointed at the use of excessive spice which drowned out the scallion flavor. All the cookies were very good. In all, excellent food, if a bit expensive. Will most likely come back, but not regularly. I am very interested in trying more of their ube products.

Corner Bakery: what do users think?

Hilda Kroll: I usually start my day when I'm in DC with hot chocolate, but today I couldn't resist something from the bakery too. The chocolate chip cookie was great, but next time I've got to get a mini chocolate Bundt. The staff is especially nice and prices are very reasonable.

Donovan McKenzie: If you want dry food and feel completely unwelcomed by the staff, this is the place for you! The couple of times I have visited this location, I was met by rude employees with little to no customer service. I'm not asking for a red carpet, but at least care enough that I am someone who is looking to grab lunch, not the attitude. You can keep that.

Pablo Parada: The staff doesn't really care of the customers. When we got there, they were chatting between them and they made eye contact with us and nothing, no even like "hey, what can I get for you?" And when I talked to them to ask for my order, they were like "ohh what do you want?" With some attitude. Then I noticed that the manager was playing with one of the girls in a very unprofessional way, touching each other like they were kids. Not cool at all!

Cory Laws: Corner Bakery is a favorite, though it's been quite awhile. I was happy to see one across the street from our hotel. Good food fast. We had the farmers and Anaheim scrambles. I usually don't cook with salt, so it was a rare pleasure to get unseasoned eggs. A nice treat.
Response: Cory Thank you so much for writing in to let us know! We’re so glad we were able to provide you with great service! We love it when you stop by!

Stephanie Ratajczak: Wonderful crew, delicious food. They have shortened hours because covid, but it's a great weekday lunch spot!
Response: Thank you for the excellent Google review. We are so happy you enjoyed your recent visit to our cafe in Washington. Don’t forget, you can cater your next event with all your Corner Bakery favorites!

Clayton Russell: The employees here are simply above and beyond on their customer service. Yes, the food is good and the selection is fantastic (you can get everything from perfectly baked snacks to a full plate breakfast special) , but where Corner Bakery really shines is its people. They treat you like family here and really care about the quality of their product and service. It is much appreciated by this customer and I’ll certainly be returning again and again because of this!
Response: Clayton, thank you so much for writing in to let us know about our wonderful employees! We’re so glad we were able to provide you with great service! We love it when you stop by!

Lisa Heilbronn: Bagel and coffee were fine, service seemed a bit disjointed but they were trying hard.

Luis Garza: Expectations were disappointed. Limited menu, not a problem. Prices and service are adequate. Quality of food and portions were substandard to what you see in the pictures and people’s reviews. I found a small fruit fly buried under my salad but because I ate outside couldn’t tell if it came like that or landed in there from being outside. Didn’t bother to investigate to be honest.
Response: Thank you very much for letting us know and I am very sorry for your poor experience. In order for our Guest Relations team to follow up with you directly, please visit http://bit.ly/2odGMuG and fill out the feedback form. Thank you!

DAMIAN PERLA: Great tasting food, very spacious, amd very friendly staff!

Briana Provost: Lunches here are quick and the food is ok. Good in you are in a hurry, but the portions are a little small for what you pay.
Response: Briana, thanks for the great rating and feedback! Are you part of our eClub? If not, you can join here : https://www.cornerbakerycafe.com/eclub. We send great offers throughout the month.

Corner Bakery: what do users think?

Millicent Stokes: I wish I could give Corner Bakery on K St 0 stars. I went there today for my lunch break and ordered the shrimp scampi. I was given a number and then sat and waited for my food. I watched as the staff brought everyone their food as their numbers came up yet when my food was ready I did not receive the same service. It's quite disheartening to be in a restaurant and you're the only one being treated differently. I'll be sure to tell everyone I know that great customer service comes with stipulations with this establishment.

jon garner: We ate here two days in a row and remembered my daughter's order from the day before. Friendly staff and restaurant. Great coffee and my daughter loves the strawberry Lemonjade. Next time we are in the area we will stop again.

Adriana Figueiredo: The picture of the plate is well different from the one I got. The apron of the waitress that brought the food was very dirt. The food is so-so

Jason Morris: Nice place, good food, staff not the friendliest (lot of grunts and hand motions). Despite all that I would still come back here and eat and I do recommend.
Response: Jason, we are sorry to hear this and we'd like to learn more so our Guest Relations team may follow up with you on this issue. Would you please visit http://bit.ly/2odGMuG and complete the form located there? Thank you!

Kayode Yussuf: Lovely meal and tasty soup. Enjoyed every bit of it
Response: Thank you so much for writing in to let us know! We’re so glad we were able to provide you with great service! We love it when you stop by!

Judith George: Some of the buttermilk pancakes I've ever eaten. . . And I've eaten a lot. Friendly, helpful staff. Lots of good choices for breakfast.

Jakey Low: Food and ambience here are ideal for a quick bite. They have pretty delicious sandwiches here for sure. Atmosphere : 4/5 Food : 4/5 Drinks : 4/5 Price. : 4/5 Service : 4/5
Response: Jakey Low - Thanks for the rating and review of our service, sandwiches and prices.

Ryan Malloy: Food was not the best. There are a lot better places nearby for breakfast or lunch.

Tou Mama: They ran out of bacon who runs out of bacon? The service was so slow we didn't even get out our drinks for over 30 min and it was so crowded we were on top of everyone. Do not reccomend.

sugandha agarwal: We went there on a hot summer morning in July. We were a mixed group of adults and kids and all of us were vegetarian. Ordered all that was veg- the wrap, the pancakes and bagels. While the food was good ( the wrap was nice and we added avocado) the service could do with some improvement. Our order was for veg pancakes and initially our plates had bacon, on being reminded by the server the cooks were trying to scrape the bacon off. I was watching at the counter and asked for them to redo the pancakes as we are vegetarian and wouldn't eat the pancakes that had been in touch with the bacon. They didn't seem apologetic instead were not happy to do it all over again but grudgingly did it. I continued to stand by the counter even though the lady told me they could bring it to our table as I didn't want any such thing happening. Another's customer had a similar altercation which had the cook walk out and confront him. Seems like the employees here are stressed and can do with a cool head. The food was good, pancakes were huge and filling, almost 2 adults and 1 kid can share those pancakes!
Response: sugandha We are very sorry to hear this and we'd like to learn more so our Guest Relations team may follow up with you on this issue. Would you please visit http://bit.ly/2odGMuG and complete the form located there? Thank you!

Junction Bakery & Bistro: what do users think?

Johnnie Barrett: The gourmet salads and assortment of baked goods for our military medic appreciation event was beyond expectations! The salads were fresh, unique, and delicious. The sweets were not only beautiful to the eye but also flaky and decadent to the palate. Everyone raved about the food, and Junction Bistro and Bakery made our luncheon an overwhelming success! I will definitely go to the restaurant to try other menu items, and many staff members have asked for their information, too! Thank you for your excellent service and donation!
Response: Thank you for the lovely review. We have passed your compliments along to the team and they were so thrilled to hear the event was a success. We love knowing your team enjoyed the donation. Please stop by and see us soon. Cheers!

Sarah E: Had a hard time deciding on what to get because it all looked SO good. Ended up getting the Cubano and was not disappointed. The location is super cute and my iced latte was also to die for. A little on the higher cost side but totally worth it!
Response: Thank you for the kudos on the Cubano and your latte! We hope to see you again soon. Please take care!

J Ruffin: Stumbled upon this cute bakery and so glad I did. I grabbed a Caramel Apple Latte (to-go), a Blueberry Cinnamon Roll (sounds great, right?), and French Onion soup. I haven't had a good French Onion Soup in a while, so when I saw this on the menu, I HAD to try it. (In case you're wondering how ordering this trio came to be) The set up inside is nice and it's more of a 'serve yourself' concept. You order and pay at the counter and if dining in, you sit wherever you want and they give you a number display stand so they know where to bring your food. There's also a water canister for cups of water while dining in. Although there's not much interaction with staff in the grab & go style here, AJ, a member of the team, was very helpful and welcoming. I'll definitely come by when I'm in the area for a tasty latte, a unique bakery item, or have lunch.
Response: J Ruffin- thanks for the great review! We will pass along your compliment to AJ and let the team know you enjoyed the food and drinks. Please come back and see us again soon. Cheers!

s n: Chai chia pudding was good, so are the pastries and coffee. For non dairy alternatives they have almond milk and soy milk. The chive cheddar biscuit was particularly tasty. Not too dry and doesn’t fall apart, good mouthfeel. We got the veggie burrito which was pretty bland. The home fries feel like they’ve been sitting under a warmer all morning, and there was a piece of plastic in them. I’d return for the pastries but not for the kitchen menu because it’s not really worth the price.
Response: Thank you so much for your feedback- we are glad to hear the pudding, pastries and coffee were a hit. We have shared your feedback on the hot food with the team, and appreciate the opportunity to improve. Thank you again for coming in and for your review.

Jensen Whitmore: What a wonderful find! They were very busy but our food came out quickly and they were so helpful and kind. The pot roast was delightful. The beet salad was the star of the show. Junction Burger was fine but I'd order again, especially for the fries. We took our desserts to go. Blueberry cheesecake was divine. The coconut cake was perfectly light and flavored nicely. We cannot wait to come back again to try brunch!
Response: Many thanks for the positive review, Jenson. Please take care and come back and visit soon. Cheers!

J Leung: Delicious!! Shared a hamburger and a cubano sandwich!! Boy!! I was blown away by the flavors of that cubano. At first I was worried that I’d have a chunk of dried pork but I was mistaken. Flavorful and juicy!!! Best Cuban sandwich ever !! Also bought some croissant!! Almond and chocolate was very good!! Will definitely try to go back!!

Shelrethia Battle-Siatita: We were so fortunate to have Junction Bakery and Bistro’s support during our Nurse/Tech appreciation week festivities at Bolling Air Force Base! The salads and pastries were absolutely stunning and insanely delicious. The strawberry lemon filled pastry was a clear standout. It was almost too pretty to eat…after one bite we were all in HEAVEN! Amazing! Can’t wait to enjoy more menu selections. Thanks so much!
Response: Thank you for the kind review! We were so happy to support Nurse/Tech Appreciation Week. Please take care and stop by and see us soon!

Adil Bari: While walking in the area, I was looking for a place to get some work done. Found this inviting corner cafe and went in. Got myself an iced vanilla latte on a hot, muggy afternoon. Also had a sweet craving, so tried their almond danish. Both items were really good. Plenty of tables to sit inside and outside (on good weather days). Del Ray has a lot of great cafes and Junction is definitely one of them.

Mike: Not many people here has reviewed their wood fired bone in beef short ribs. The ribs are scorched before serving and the meat was falling off the bones and moist. The Korean BBQ sauce was nice and spicy. I would get it on the side next time we order this This dish definitely serves 2 adults or more. We had left overs. The salad was basic greens however the salad dressing made them flavorful. It was a carrot vinegar based dressing served on the side. The burnt ends fried rice was ok. It had a bit too much scrambled eggs. The pickles and super hot red peppers that came with it were a nice addon. The garlic Texas toast were great.
Response: Mike- thanks for the awesome feedback on the short ribs. We can't wait to pass the kind words along to our awesome executive chef, Shelby. We hope you stop by for some more ribs soon!

Klara Cheung: Small parking lot but there is some street parking available. Busy breakfast spot. You order up front and they give you a number to take to your table. If you order any hot beverages, you pick it up at the front. I ordered the seasonal cruffin which was apple seasoning flavored and a chicken Chorizo Burrito. The food did take awhile to come out. My friend ordered the Brisket Biscuit. Not a very well organized system as with both our foods, they walked past our table and was walking around the restaurant and outside before we had to either flag them down or go to the front with our number to get our food. The burrito was disappointing unfortunately. It had a lot of avocado and not a lot of the chicken Chorizo and was lacking in flavor. The home Fries were well seasoned but they were Roasted potatoes. The cruffin on the other hand was delicious but when they gave it to me at the front, there wasn't any silverware and waited for my food to come to have silverware to try it. Great apple flavor and warming it up would have made it even better. I'm sure other things on the menu are good and they do serve sandwiches and things as well.

PAUL Franklin Square: what do users think?

Kelly M.: Love, love, love this place. Is it a little pricey? Yes. But this is DC and the quality is fantastic!! Seriously…best almond croissant I’ve ever had. The sandwiches rival what I ate when I lived in Germany and the coffee is very good. There’s also seating available both inside and outside. I would go here every day if I could! It’s probably for the best that I don’t live nearby but I wish I did!

Melissa Buckingham: The selection of baked goods and sweets drew me in but the overall experience left me underwhelmed. The atmosphere is appealing but the ordering experience was unpleasant. I felt rushed and questioned at every turn. I walked up to the counter with my vaccine card and ID ready based on what I had seen from customers that were in line before me. She seemed confused and asked if I planned on dining in. After ordering my vegetable quiche, chocolate almond croissant, and amaretto hot chocolate with almond milk, I found a table near the barista. She brought me my drink and for the cost, I would have rather had some instant hot chocolate mix poured into warm milk. It was nothing to write home about. If you are in a pinch and want to grab a sandwich or salad, I would say this is your place. If you want a nice warm drink and baked good, I might consider looking into other options. I would go back to try out other sweets but only if I was with someone else that insisted we go to this location in particular. Tl;dr PAUL Franklin Square is pricey and underwhelming but it will satiate your desire for a niche meal and drink.

LP: Lots of baked goods and French style cafe items. I got the croque monsieur. Tasty. I’ll be back! Friendly staff. Covid vax card required to eat inside. No cash excepted.

Michelle Diane: Had a lovely breakfast at PAUL'S that included a veggie quiche with salad and a delicious mocha!! The mocha was certainly the highlight of it all. I want to go back just to have another one.

A.: Hard to pick a rating for this location. Many of the times I’ve come here, the staff is incredibly slow, even when there aren’t many people. On the flip side, I’ve been here when it’s busy and they’re much faster, but the warm food is rushed and isn’t warm after they heat it up. My first exposure to Paul’s was in Belgium, so you can imagine what it’s like to eat at a French cafe in a French-speaking country. The locations around DC just aren’t the same. I appreciate when I go in and the staff are more attentive, but it’s hit or miss sometimes

Lena T: Beautiful cafe with plenty of sweet/savory options. Quiche was lovely, as was my cappuccino!

Chili Palmer: Good coffee except for one day when they have this lady who thinks a cappuccino has to be cooking hot with all flavours killed and got pretty aggressive when we asked for another one. The correct answer is not „ Ima make ya a cold one baby uhuuum“. Rude, should not work in any service job.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about our recent visit. We strive to present our guests with the best quality and value possible, from food to service. We sincerely apologize for your poor experience and hope you'll give us another chance. Please contactusat Feedback@pauldmv.com, and share more details about your recent visit, we'd like the opportunity to resolve your concerns and earn your continued trust. Thanks Sarah kian Operation manager

Dan Handel: Consistently out of certain items. Every time I have placed an order with them, they have called to cancel part or all of my order. They have good pastries but having to go back and forth with them every single time is a hassle I can go without

Calum Black: I live this place. The pastries are crispy, buttery and delicious. The staff are incredible, they're so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

A Weaver: The place has low lighting, bistro atmosphere, bar chairs and tables, sofa and cushiony chairs, and "wooden" floors. Upon walking in you are greeted with an array of pastries and smiling faced employees. A breakfast and everything else menu is hung on the walls. When I was here there was a short line of 4 people. I ordered the smoked salmon salad and a glass is water (right out the tap), never offered a choice of dressings or even extra napkins as other people within the same line who ordered drinks or was told where to obtain a straw. I was presented with a table number, a tray and 1 silverware. Waiting for my food to come, the ambient noise of music filled the room as I found a place to sit. Food arrives shortly after. The plate was will presented as if The chefs really care about presentation. The bread was hard as stale bread that's been baked art 6 am and left out in open air. The salmon was flavorful and the tomatoes actually tasted as if it was garden grown with plenty of sunlight. Since I had tap water, I put a cucumber into it, to balance the pH. I know it is going to take longer than me eating, but it made me feel good. After pointing out the hard bread, they were nice enough to warm up a new piece. I will return one day.

PAUL Farragut North: what do users think?

Héctor Arduz: Between medical appointments I took my wife to have breakfast. My wife ordered eggs Benedict w/avocado. The avocado wasn’t ripe. In fact it was hard and tough. Inedible. Sorry to report this. I do love the pastries, but will never again order something more complex, like Eggs Benedict chez Paul, Again… pity. Feeling disappointed

J Acharya: I got 3 pastries and a coffee. Everything was fresh and delicious. Can’t wait to go back and try their sandwiches and salads.

Celine Aka-Koffi: The mille-feuilles (napoleon) is fresh and tasty. We enjoyed chamomile and mint tea on a cold spring afternoon. Service was excellent.

Alok Sinha: Want to give a shout out to this place. I came in a few minutes before they were about to close and the staff were so helpful in getting me some last second pastries. I ordered a cheese danish and a few other pastries. They were all delicious. The prices were fair. Would recommend stopping by here for a pleasant dessert.

Nitzan Ainemer: Great french boulangerie! The service was great, we’ve ordered two special breakfast, including bread, butter, jam, eggs benedict, coffee and orange juice for 50$ total, with taxes. The food was great! Would recommend!

Jamie K: I thought PAUL was a European only place til I moved to dc and it still gives me those vibes, except with american efficiency. Plus, I think PAUL has the best black coffee in the city. And the pasties are all ::chefs kiss:: but don’t miss the Gourmandise or if you like citrus, the citrus tart.

Kaiser Baam: Honestly the seating outside with a good cup of coffee and a three layer moose and relaxing great place to relax and converse with friends. The staff are wonderful. Coffees good.

anthony danks: Slowly Paul's is opening up It has a few customers and weekends people arrive for take out. It's still expensive and has serious competition for pastries by je ne sais quoi. There sandwiches are good as is their bread but they could be better filled for the price. The Napoleon is big and taste also palmera my favourites. The Croke missure is good looking but expensive and not as taste as I was expecting. Still a good location to sit outside and watch lack of traffic or a 20 veichel car cade of the president coming back from McDonald's. Relaxing atmosphere and helpful service doing everything to please.

mustafa Suwaylih: Amazing bakery. I had the chocolate croissant. It was perfect. Paul always surprise us with they amazing decorations. It was the first time I try the macaron and the taste wasn’t as I expected. It was bigger than the normal size. My friend who knows the taste of the macaron said it was great.

Azza T: Ordered omelette and chocolate deluxe croissant. Their latte was very good! Not a busy place and friendly employees.

Baked & Wired: what do users think?

Elizabeth Dou: I love coming here on special occasions and enjoying a cupcake or two with friends and family. Every cupcake I’ve tried has been such a treat full of flavor and just so moist. They really nail the cupcake to icing ratio. They offer seasonal coffee flavors as well as cupcake flavors. It’s a fun bakery with both indoor and outdoor seating. If you plan to stop by be prepared to wait in line. The line moves quickly and it’s definitely worth the wait!

Aminah Imani: You won’t be disappointed. Order them to go and enjoy them down by the water front. Great location, friendly staff and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Thank you!

Avonlea: One of my favorite spots when in DC. The cupcakes are so moist and your definitely getting your moneys worth! Before the pandemic the line would go down the street, but since they close earlier you can walk right in. They also have other treats other than cupcakes. Their Rice Krispies are very good! If in DC I highly suggest you stop by!

Jacqueline Telljohann: I'm really not a big cupcake fan, but a friend said I needed to come here, so I gave them a shot. My husband and I shared: - Razmanian Devil Cupcake - Strawberry Cupcake - Fig Newton These are hands down the best cupcakes I've ever had. my only regret is that we didn't get more. Make sure to check them out!

Sam Buck: Baked & Wired is out of this world! The cupcakes we had here were absolutely phenomenal and some of the best desserts we've ever had! We had the Coconut, Strawberry, and Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcakes and could barely finish them they were so filling. The inside shop was packed when we went in, and they were able to get us through the line quickly. The CPB cupcake was slightly dry and being right outside DC it's a bit pricey, but everything else was fantastic. 9/10

Yuri: When we arrived in the afternoon, most flavors of cupcakes were already sold out… I really wanted to try dirty chai cupcake, but I got one of chocolate flavor.(I forgot the name, but kind of nutty chocolate) It was sweet, but not too much, moderately moist, was good! I should go again!

Marina Ekman: I went into Baked and Wired on a Saturday near mid day, and was greeted politely by staff, so that was nice. I took a look at their menu on the board, and was surprised to see that there weren’t any prices posted. I then took a look at their foldout menus, and no prices on there either. I was finally able to track down the price of their cupcakes online (they were over $6 per) yet i was unable to find prices for their drinks (but that could be my error) I decided to order the coconut cupcake and a green tea, and my food was delivered to me swiftly! The cupcake itself was very delicious and rich, yet a little lacking on the coconut flavor, and the tea was hot and scrumptious! I definitely would visit again! Edit: I was finally able to obtain a biscuit from them (thanks to the lovely staff for their help!) and it was very tasty! The biscuit is a drop type soda biscuit with the ingredients mixed into it, rather than a layered biscuit.

Da-Wang Wu: A lovely little bakery with many different flavors of cupcakes. They also sell coffee and tea on the other side of the counter. The staff mentioned that carrot cake and strawberry are two popular flavors in their cupcakes. Carrot cake is pretty delicious, but strawberry is just okay for me. Although I don’t like frosting in general, my friend said that their frosting felt freshly made and he actually enjoyed it. Overall, the drinks and cake are a bit too sweet for me, but I guess it might be just fine for others.

Devin Boe: Best cupcakes in Georgetown (best I've had anywhere), good coffee, and great service. Cute vibe and never too crowded. Don't neglect their other baked goods! A little on the pricey side but you are paying for high end quality. Seriously the BEST cupcakes... amazing frosting, moist and flavorful, and some really fun creative flavors. The Dirty Chai cupcake + a good cup of coffee = heaven.

Munera A: In love with this place’ vibes 💯, we picked the vanilla cupcake filled with dolce de lice and the chocolate topping.. it was good but not the best! But the coffee was actually good!

Seylou Bakery: what do users think?

Da-Wang Wu: First time buying from this bakery. The cheese scone and croissant were pretty good, but we didn’t enjoy the bird bread that much. I guess people who like nutty texture might enjoy it more. I ordered mocha, and the staff told me that I couldn’t adjust the level of sweetness because they used chocolate milk to make the mocha, which was a bit weird for me. Would look forward to trying some other breads in the future since they actually look pretty good!

Vivian Lu: This is a small local bakery, so I'm glad that we visited. Everyone was very nice. With that being said, I'm not convinced that whole grain works well for all baked goods, and I can't recommend stopping by. We had the croissant and although the crust looked properly flaky, it had the soft, wet consistency of under-baked bread inside. The quality of the bread also seems to vary day by day. The bread is good when it's good, but again, wet and under-baked on bad days.

dan altman: I really enjoy stopping by to buy bread when I'm in DC. It's great that they mill their own flour which is locally grown in some cases. A dough made with lots of water and natural leaven will require intense heat to help the bread rise. This can cause a slightly burnt crust, which I like. The reason for the 3 stars is that the bread can be inconsistent in terms of proofing or timing to be baked. This causes the dough to callapse creating pockets at the top of the bread and a dense more doughy bottom. Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to give feedback if you don't live local, so they can work on remedying the problem. I would hope for better at these prices. I think the owner may be one of the best bread bakers anywhere, but he has other doing the baking now. I will keep visiting Seylou Bakery, but next time ask they cut the loaf before buying. Hopefully they won't have a problem with my request.

Michelle Keller: Gorgeous bakery in a modern space. I had the buckwheat strawberry muffin, which was delicious. Excellent crumb, not too dense, with whole strawberries baked right in. I also had the vegetable frittata. The texture was divine, light and airy.

Christine S: Small local bakeries are all the hype nowadays, so I’d add Seylou to your list if you’re a fan of whole grain pastries and sourdough. I’m a croissant fiend, so I had to try their whole wheat almond croissant. Certainly one of the more unique croissants I’ve ever tried– if you’re expecting a flaky and buttery croissant, you won’t find it here. If you’re looking for a seemingly healthier and heartier croissant, then Seylou is for you. They could have done a better job with the frangipane filling. I also tried their savory monkey bread with spicy peppers and enjoyed the light sourdough flavor.

Ammar El-Taher: The freshness of their bakery, the mouth blowing taste & the consistency they provide each & every time you eat there is unmatchable. One great breakfast, coffee & tea place the you shouldn't miss

Mark Blanchard: Seylou more like Fail-ou. Ok I'll start with the staff. They're genuinely super nice and professional, which gets this cafe a second star. The food also looks beautiful. The rest though? Went there with a few friends and we tried several items (6 food items and coffees). Not exaggerating, but we all took a sip of the coffee and looked at each other like "this coffee is disgusting". Ok that happens, maybe a bad batch of coffee? We then dove into the pastries (6 of them). 4 of the pastries were inedible, and the other 2, we ended up eating them, but they were average at best. We literally threw out 4 pastries because they were that awful. I'm not sure who all is going to Seylou and giving it 4 and 5 stars, but have you been to other bakeries in DC? Or are we comparing to gas station pastries? Seriously we tried 6 items, and we literally dumped 4 of these pastries in the trash can. Oh, and 1 more thing... The pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) is whole wheat. What!!!!!! I'm not eating a croissant to be healthy, I don't need it to be whole wheat. Plus you should really be clear that it's whole wheat, because it tastes pretty awful. In short, the staff is absolutely nice, but the food... just... Don't.

Nicole C: Absolutely loved the almond croissant! It had the perfect balance of sweetness. The aromatics and flavor of almond was very apparent. There was also a bit of a body to the croissant that I've never encountered before at other bakeries. Definitely would recommend it!

Breana's Toast: I´ve visited renowned bakeries all over the world and Seylou offers hands down the best bread and pastries I´ve ever had. You can taste the organic locally sourced grain in every single bite! Anyone who lives in the DC area is fortunate to have this piece of grain heaven nearby... And for anyone skeptical about their deep colored loaves, let me assure you that nothing is burnt, everything is baked to perfection. Can´t wait to be back for more!

Mark Woodward: In my view Seylou is the best bakery in the US. I mean that seriously. Everything is freshly milled whole grain and naturally leavened, which is how I like my bread. Seylou entirely disproves the perception that such breads can only be bricks. The quality is the same or better than from places that use bread flour or high extraction flour, and the bread and pastries are both more flavorful and more nutritious. I also appreciate that Seylou supports local farmers, not just by buying and using their wheat and rye, but also by turning other crops (such as buckwheat), which are important parts of organic grain crop rotation, into both breads and delicious pastries. Seylou has been inspirational to me in my own bread baking. 😀

Firehook Bakery & Coffee House: what do users think?

Jeni Partee: Took the metro and passed this place on the way to the Newseum. So glad they were open on Thanksgiving and WOW were they busy. Line went very fast. Yogurt parfait was fresh. Cookies are huge, great price. I had the oatmeal raisin and it was spectacular. Glad they had soda for those of us who don't like coffee.

Carolyn Bradshaw (PolythPam): Love Firehook! Amazing cookies, great coffees, and lovely staff at this location. They seemed to know most of the patrons, and their orders! Located at the top of the metro station it’s super easy to get to and a good stop for visiting the Smithsonian museums.

samin shokoohi: The worst experience ever. I was insisting on Chocolate cake but they somehow convinced me to get the Strawberry vanilla cake which tasted awful. Never try it

Jane L: Firehook Bakery has some amazing cookies and pastries, but on I visited this particular location for lunch when I was on jury duty. I ordered a veggie panini and it was not that great. It was ok but I wouldn't get it again. I'll just stick to baked goods and coffee next time.

Tweila-Rochelle Cauthen: It was a coooooold day. Nice friendly staff. The creamiest hot chocolate, and a welcoming portion. We copped a squat and warmed up. Our group purchased a few muffins, cookies and a fruit dish. Everything from start to finish was excellent. You gotta stop on through!

Mike K: Located close to one entrance of the Judiciary Square Metro and across the street from MPD Headquarters. Typical coffee shop. Coffee and food has always been pretty good here. Staff seems to be just doing their job to get along. Customer service not the best, appearance of employees needs to be looked at.

Mary Brody: really good coffee, other drinks and bakery. Their sandwiches and salad aren't always good but the baked goods are amazing. It's small and can get crowded, better for grab and go than sitting down.

Kerry Bresnahan: Very friendly staff. Coffee is always on point and made fresh. The pastries are a favorite within my office. Power players in the senate like to meet here and talk shop. Great little coffee house.

Darius Pringle: The coffee and baked goods were great, unfortunately the place is overun with panhandlers. I had to leave, one person after another come right to your table and ask for money. Worth going, just get it to go.

Bronwyn Proffit-Higgins: The staff here is amazing. I came with two babies and did not expect the level of attention and assistance I received. The baked goods were mediocre, thus 2 stars. But the staff? 5 stars.

Bread Furst: what do users think?

Leslie Williston: this place is so cool! fun to be able to watch people make fresh bread. The pastries we fabulous. i would love to see a lemon scone. overall wonderful inside and out. cool market vibe inside too

Sedona Reilly: Stopped here on my way home from American University and it was hands down the best breakfast place I have been to in the city thus far. The store is so cute, there’s everything you could imagine in stock. The employees were so warm and welcoming, and the food was delicious. My mom and I left with 2 gourmet bagel sandwiches and a few pastries for the road. I will be making this a regular spot when I move to the city!

Tan Sav: Ordered online for pickup. It was easy and my order was ready quickly. This was around 9am on a Saturday. The croissants were buttery, flaky and delicious. It was bit smashed, but that didn't take away from the taste. I got the gravlox bagel. It was salty, savory and tangy. I had never been inside before so it would have been nice to know where the pickup orders were located.

Mark Blanchard: It was my first time at Bread Furst, and I'm impressed. Their baguette is top notch, the second best baguette in the DMV area, which is a bold statement. We tried a few pastries that were also delicious. I love the open area and how you can see them making the baguettes from scratch - great experience. The only downside is that around noon, they had run out of multiple items that we wanted to try, and also several pastry items were not labeled (no name or description) so had to ask multiple times what each thing was (they weren't obvious items, or if they were, the flavor wasn't obvious). Other than that, the patio is pretty, but you unfortunately inhale car exhaust from the car wash that's adjacent to the cafe.

Sticks Forks & Others: Stopped by today for the first time - a 30+ minute drive. Well worth the trip. Very impressed overall. Main goal was to get some canele, which is very hard to come by, especially the good ones. Wasn’t disappointed. Picked up a bag full and a chocolate croissant. All very, very good. The canele was firm and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside - just the way it should be. The same goes for the chocolate croissant - perfectly done with the perfect amount of chocolate. There is so much to see at the store. From pasta to peanut butter, you could spend hours eye shopping. There is parking behind the back and few outdoor seats in front and back of the store. Definitely worth the trip and worth revisiting.

Y B: Do you like the taste of burned toast? This is what the crust tasted like as I discovered the condition of the bread in the paper bag. Additional worth noting that not posting prices is a basic form of economic discrimination.

Dondré: Bread furst is a different type of bakery. Not only do they have fresh bread but they also offer a plethora of local pastas, sauces, dried fruits plus more. The staff is friendly and the options are plenty. There are options for outdoor dining as well which is always nice when the weather is great.

V Rossi: Their sourdough bread is incredible! 🍞 They sell sourdough starter for $3.50. I bought some and fed it once home and it tripled in size. A nice healthy starter. I did have to ask few people the first person I asked didn't realize they sell starter...

dwayne gulley: Late review but it was a must. Breakfast here is amazing. Very busy but worth the wait as everybody in here is visibly working hard. Manager or owner was walking the floor and stocking and recommended the mixed jars to mix alcohol with. That was a solid recommendation and a hit with my holiday crew.

Blake Ellis: I've never written a Google review before, and I don't want to sound like a total Karen, but I feel like I've gotten to the point where I have to add something here. I live close to Bread Furst, so I come here a lot, and every time I visit, I tell myself not to come back. Then of course I'm lured in by the great smelling bread, and I get frustrated all over again, so I guess I'm doing this to myself. I've probably been here between 10-15 times and I don't think they've ever gotten the order correct. This is just in reference to brunch food. When I've ordered online, they've forgotten to make the order completely (both times) and I had to order it again in person, which defeated any efficiency. When I've ordered in person, many times they've gotten the order wrong or have forgotten to put all the ingredients on or have forgotten to make it completely even though I've just put it in. The past few times I've visited, I waited for a while, and then someone looked over at me and asked what I was waiting for before explaining to me that they must gotten their wires crossed or something because no one had started making it. I wouldn't review with such vehement frustration if Breadfurst wasn't so expensive. But it's become a bit of a running joke in our house that the order will always go wrong when we come here. The pastries are great. I just don't think it's worth this whole ordeal--the mistakes, the very hectic lines, the insultingly pretentious staff--just for an overpriced and reliably cold breakfast.

Buttercream Bakeshop: what do users think?

Megan Barnes: The cake of my dreams was created by Tiffany at Buttercream. When we did our tasting I was blown away at how I would be able to choose as every flavor was better than the last. She did an incredible job pulling our English garden vibe together for a beautiful cake on our wedding day.
Response: Thank you so much Megan!! You were such a JOY to work with. We are beyond grateful for word full clients like you!!!

Elizabeth Meltzer: These cream puffs were THE HIT for our small backyard wedding reception! We had a cake (not provided by Buttercream), but, it was overshadowed by these delicious puffs. Everyone asked where we got them, and kept going back to get more or try to choose one with a different flavor (we had mocha and vanilla). These are unlike anything I've had from anywhere else - just absolute perfection. Having something fancy and unexpected like this really made our unconventional wedding feel a little more special. I even had a friend sneak several into my car so I would be sure to have a few as we drove away (because you can be sure that there were no leftovers!) Thank you Buttercream!
Response: Wowowow! What an amazing review. Thank you for taking the time to share this. Honestly, the cream puffs are a staff favorite so I'm happy you love them as much as we do. (Pro tip - be sure to try the birthday cake cream filled puffs when we *finally* re-open)

Jane L: I ordered a Best of Buttercream Box back in August. Just catching up with my review now. Quarantine inspired me to try a lot of local businesses and discovering pastry boxes was a fun twist on ordering takeout. Buttercream's Best of box is offered every few weeks in advance online and you don't know what's in it until a day or two before pick-up. You know there will be 6-7 pieces and it costs $37. Check out my photos to see what I got. All of the pastries I got were high quality, rich, and delicious. For me, however, they were too sweet. I split each piece with my Mom and I still couldn't finish any of them in one sitting. I would have preferred a lighter touch. I think other people would be completely in heaven, though. The ordering and pick up process is super quick and I loved that the chef actually handed me my box with some tips on storing.

Chels Owens: Looooooooove their cake and cupcakes! These people are top notch and make high quality baked goods, you will not be disappointed. I got a gorgeous unicorn cake from them that was a huge hit with my friends and I got myself a cotton candy cupcake that was the absolute best.

Tina P: First, the customer service was really good. I was running late for my pick up and it was not a problem, the girl I spoke with was very nice. The cupcakes were beautifully presented and tasted great. I ordered the gluten free elderflower lemon cupcakes with blackberry jam. My boyfriend has an allergy, so we've been on the hunt for really good gluten free cupcakes. These were light, fluffy and moist. Will shop there again for our pastry needs!

nitubw: This is my go to bakery for special ordering celebration cakes! Buttercream makes it easy to order online and provide ideas for specialty cakes. My older daughter loved her Wonder Woman cake! It was honestly looked almost too good to eat. Almost. She had her favorite flavor, S’mores. They made my younger daughter’s Moana dream come true with her birthday cake which also incorporated her favorite flavor: Vanilla cake with lemon curd and strawberry buttercream (despite it not being on their menu at that time). The cake was the right amount of sweet and the buttercream was fantastic. My husband had also purchased one of their peek-a-boo cakes (Elderflower soaked lemon cake with blackberry jam and vanilla buttercream) for my birthday. Let’s just say this family of four devoured it!

Kay Chevalier: I was in DC for the weekend and my Airbnb was close to the bakery; I’m too embarrassed to admit the number of times I stopped in to get another treat. Everything I tried was amazing! Like AMAZING!!! Their savory breakfast roll was super. The one I had was filled with egg, cheese, & sausage. The Queen Bee was flakey and soft and buttery and sugary, a perfect balance. Oh my, I want one just thinking about it. Ps.- their unicorn hot chocolate is adorable!

Mackenzie Jandernoa: Super cute and friendly spot! The Reese peanut butter cup cookie bar was absolutely phenomenal and worth every bite. I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie and the half brownie/half cookie bar as well, however, the funfetti cupcake was a huge miss for me; this certainly could be due to personal preference. It just didn’t have much flavor. More specifically, the frosting was super bland. Overall, it’s still worth stopping in and checking out the variety of treats they have to offer!

Kate Morton: Buttercream was good, the gluten free snickers brownie was tasty but I did hope there would be more gluten free options. My date said the triple chocolate cupcake was good though the icing could’ve been more flavorful.

Loree Lipstein: Cake is literally my favorite food... I've been known to eat upwards of 8 pieces of wedding cake at other weddings. I'm rather famous for it actually. So for my own wedding, the cake was one of the most important things to me. I wanted it to be GOOD cake above all else -- a pretty cake that doesn't taste amazing is not really cake! Buttercream knocks it out of the park on both fronts. The cake is as delicious as cake can get -- truly insane. And they offer so many amazing flavors! We ended up with three different ones because it was so hard to choose. And then on top of the cake being absolutely amazing... their designs are gorgeous. We did both a traditional beautiful cake and a fun groomscake that we designed special. Both exceeded our expectations. If you're in the DC Metro area, you must work with Buttercream!
Response: Congratulations!!! We were so thrilled to be part of your big day and this review is the icing on the cake cake. We LOVED both of your designs ~ thank YOU for letting us be a part of such a special memory for you and your husband (!!)

Gwenie's Pastries: what do users think?

Jackie D.: There was so much hype from my lady friends about how this Filipino dessert place would take my life to new heights and make me glow like a Queen that imagine my disappointment when I actually tasted the pandan doughnut, and Ube cheesecake. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I didn’t get it. For the $3.18 for a donut and $8 for a sliver of cheesecake, I expected at least some gold leaf on top. No need to return. This box has been ticked.

Jessica Sun: Expensive, but so so good. The ube flavor is super unique and delicious! The ube cheesecake is creamy and light, and the cream cheese and ube flavors are so well integrated. The ube pie also has a delicious ube whipped frosting with a rich filling and flavorful crust! I loved all the layers :)

June G.: I got the ube and pandan donuts. The donuts themselves are fine, but they had basically no filling. They were just sugar donuts––which are good, but not what I ordered. I would rather drive downtown to Rose Ave Bakery and get a properly filled ube or pandan donut. I'm not that upset, I'm just sad :(.

Nancy C: The mango donut is the best. Almost reminded me of one of those stuffed malasadas that you get from the legendary Leonard's in Hawaii. I know it sounds weird but it does! It's really good. I will def go back to try more baked goods there.

Vishal Sinha: I recently read about Ube and the various desserts that are based on Ube. I wanted to bake some desserts using Ube but wanted to get a taste for this food item before I went down the cooking rabbit hole. Yelping for "Ube near me" led me to Gwenie's! And Thank the stars for that recommendation! The store is located in a warehouse location and has no storefront other than a heavy metal door! I thought we were at the wrong place, but I did venture ahead and opened the door. That action revealed a store behind the doors and we went right in! The display shelves is packed with all kinds of desserts and other items. I was amazed with the variety of items available here. We got a good introduction to all the goodies on sale and ended up purchasing a whole bunch of items! Ube Cheesecake Ube Loaf Ube Cupcake Mango Cupcake Cassave Cake All the items were epic! And we are instant fans of Ube! Even the non-ube desserts were really awesome! We have been to Gwenie's many times since our first visit and have even introduced our friends to desserts from this store. Gwenie's is definitely on our go to list for dessert in the area!

Ni Hao Garden Indoor Plants: When my mother in law gave bought us a cake for our wedding it was so delicious but when I bought one it looks different. Macapuno or what ever string it was is gone on the cake, taste is different, texture and cake is dry. I was told by this lady that icing is soft so keep it cool. So I did but it looks sloppy. I took this photo after putting it on the fridge for few hrs. It’s not worth it spending over $60 for small cake that’s is dry and yucky taste. Their kunchinta is even hard it’s doesn’t have that soft jelly texture. It’s like jelly that was placed of fridge for few hrs. Never going back to them.

Kemah Zinnah: Although I went to purchase donuts 🍩. I met a lovely lady who told me the days for sales was Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I was able to buy delicious Ube cake, cookies and milk candy. Very delicious 😋 😍

Amanda Turcotte: Several foodies in my community have raved about Gwenie's; so naturally, I had to check it out for myself. I love ube and there are so many ube options on their menu...I walked in and was like, yes, I am in ube heaven! We purchased ube cheesecake, ube custard pie, pandan and ube filled doughnuts, sapin, ube/cheese filled roll, and sweet coconut filled roll. All the desserts were amazing. The ladies are so friendly and answered all of our questions. This is a great family business tucked away in Rockville. I plan to comeback and definitely recommend it to all my friends in the area. Thank you! :-)

Anna Turo: Absolutely delicious ube! I had never tried it before, but I am so happy I did. The doughnuts are perfect. The dough is not too sweet and perfectly fried.

Christina Chang: Great unique Filipino bakery desserts & pastries, especially the pandan, mango or Ube flavored cakes, & cheesecakes & pies. You can buy individual portions directly from the store from Fri-Sundays only, pre-order pickup for larger portions only for the rest of the week. The doughnuts are especially good since they’re unique in being only sold in this store (unlike the other products sold at Filipino stores or on Amazon), BUT you may have to ask for extra filling if you order individual ones since they’ve definitely cut down on the amount they normally put inside so that only a measly 1/8 or less of the inside of the doughnut has cream, compared to the more generous 3/4 of the doughnut amount they used to have years ago. Hopefully they would not skimp out on the filling this much for preorders.

Firehook Bakery: what do users think?

Sahar Bayounis: A great local bakery in Alexandria! 🥐 One of the freshest croissants/pasties you’ll ever try! ♥️✨ Staff were really nice and welcoming. The place is a little small and there’s not many seats inside, but it’s very cozy. You can enjoy your cup of coffee while working and listening to some awesome tunes (they have good taste in music). 🎶 See pictures! 📷

H: Reasonably priced bakery with a wide selection of pastries, cookies, cakes, and assorted small packaged treats to go. $5 cake slices and $3+ for most individual items. They have outdoor seating but the view is of the gas station and traffic. Decently made treats for the price although on this day the indoor seating felt like it was heated for a very warm day.

Kira Yeary: Very impressed! Pricing was great. Got a ham & cheese croissant which was delicious. Cafe mocha which was rich/tasty and a chocolate croissant which was good but could’ve used a bit more chocolate. Overall would definitely go again, enjoyed very much.

Alfred Jones: Gorgeous bakery! Impressive selection. I got a zatar croissant, it was flakey and perfect. The daily quiche was delicious! Highly recommend.

Sarah Lucas: I've bought 3 cakes from this local bakery within 2 years and each time they get better and better! The staff are always friendly, the baked goods are always fresh with quite an assortment to choose from, and my oh my, is their strawberry & crème cake delicious! It's my favorite cake ever and one I buy every time it's either my partner's birthday or mine - we love it! I love going to firehook bakery and hope they thrive as a local business so I can keep buying more cakes from them!

Sarah Ali: Amazing local place with fresh pastries I ordered Zatar croissant, feta cheese with spinach, banana muffins and drip coffee All is delicious 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

N.E. Coviello (necworld): Great location with parking and outdoor tables. The treats at Firehook Bakery are delicious. When I lived in DC I loved to get an oversized gingersnap cookie & today I had one & it was exactly as I remembered it! Yummy!

Allen Juda: Small space with big flavors. Coffee, pastries, breads, and sandwiches are all delicious. Seating inside and outdoors. This is the kind of coffee shop every community wants. Small parking lot, but plenty of on street parking.

Hilda Kroll: My birthday surprise today was the delivery of two bags full of delicious pastries that just had to be shared with friends. All arrangements were made over the phone from Massachusetts, and everything was perfect. Great customer service and made-from-scratch pastries that melt in your mouth.

Cody B: Was not impressed with the coffee here and they had no milk substitutes. It is almost April and they still have their Christmas decorations up.... I can’t help to think if they are neglecting taking down some simple decorations they are probably neglecting cleaning certain parts of their kitchen

Tatte Bakery & Cafe: what do users think?

Amy Workman: Pastry perfection. So many options we had to come two days in a row on our DC visit. The croissant breakfast sandwich was excellent. The house latte absolutely delicious, sweet but not too sweet. Their regular iced latte too is perfect. I saw almost everyone grab a house juice, so we picked up a pear juice and it was like pear cider, so good. Wonderful service, they really focus on it and it shows. The line can get long and it moves fast, but probably not the place to come if you're in a hurry in the morning. Lots of great seating outside. Great spot to pick up a gift, wish we had more room in our luggage.

Vince Granado: Walking around the area and we stumbled across this gem of a cafe/bakery. The savory scone and the breakfast sandwich was outstanding. The flat white coffee was also very lovely. Highly recommend this joint.

Ellen: Food and latte were great! We got their sweet french toast, traditional shakshuka, and their roasted mushroom, spinach & potato bowl. The roasted mushroom bowl was so creamy and good. I also got their gingerbread tile cookie which is full of spices and not too sweet. The line moved quickly and we easily found a seat. Metered parking wasn't too hard to find. I went on Saturday morning.

Kevin Chen: This place remind me of some old Europe bakery shop. I must say they are very familiar. The americano is so so, latte is good but a bit sweet I think too much sugar. You can also come here for brunch. It has both inside and outside seating, inside about 40+ tables outside about 20+ tables Street parking no free.

Linda Yang: This place is a great plus to the city. If there wasn't a little unanticipated missing order, I would've given 5 star for the food with no doubt. We ordered 3 at the usual busy morning time so the pastry box started off just right until we found our 2 other orders didn't exactly go through so later we had to double check. After all, it was a good experience. The staff is super nice and friendly though.

Val Z.: Great place, I always walk away with more than what I come in for. The food is mostly healthy but if you’re on a diet please avert your eyes from the counter with all those delicious croissants and other delights. Coffee is really good here also. I like the service, I didn’t ever feel rushed even when I ordered a lot of items to go. The servers come to your several times despite this not being a full restaurant. Everyone is always nice and I love the deco. All their locations have a similar concept which is very refreshing and I’m glad they are opening more spots.

Black Star Dust: Sunny and bright Ambience is delightful. The service is usually fast. Pastries and breakfast offerings are pretty good. Diverse food offerings. Everything from American, African, Arabic, French and other tasty options. They offer brunch all day. Only thing, the lattés could be a little richer; oatmeal options are quite watery. Maybe try another oatmilk brand?

citygirldc: This may be my new favorite place for a lunch delivery. Ordered the roasted mushroom spinach and potato bowl, chicken salad sandwich. They have really amazing bread. Also had a latte that was packaged perfectly and still hot. Everything was delicious 😋

TPMT Associates: Such a fantastic hip cool joint with lots of people, long lines but definitely worth the wait. This is what every brunch place in the world should model themselves after. Good energy, healthy choices and lots of selection. The food was so tasty and reasonable in price. Even if it’s self serve the service by the people there was still great. Will definitely come back again n again to try their delicious treats

Danielle S: Great atmosphere, great menu and all the yummiest bakery goods! Definitely a place to check out. The only issue I had was ordering food and a coffee but my coffee beverage came out, had to track down where to get it 😄 but other than that, good location with outdoor seating & the staff is friendly. Can't wait to go back and try more items.
