nitubw: This is my go to bakery for special ordering celebration cakes! Buttercream makes it easy to order online and provide ideas for specialty cakes. My older daughter loved her Wonder Woman cake! It was honestly looked almost too good to eat. Almost. She had her favorite flavor, S’mores. They made my younger daughter’s Moana dream come true with her birthday cake which also incorporated her favorite flavor: Vanilla cake with lemon curd and strawberry buttercream (despite it not being on their menu at that time). The cake was the right amount of sweet and the buttercream was fantastic. My husband had also purchased one of their peek-a-boo cakes (Elderflower soaked lemon cake with blackberry jam and vanilla buttercream) for my birthday. Let’s just say this family of four devoured it!

Kay Chevalier: I was in DC for the weekend and my Airbnb was close to the bakery; I’m too embarrassed to admit the number of times I stopped in to get another treat. Everything I tried was amazing! Like AMAZING!!! Their savory breakfast roll was super. The one I had was filled with egg, cheese, & sausage. The Queen Bee was flakey and soft and buttery and sugary, a perfect balance. Oh my, I want one just thinking about it. Ps.- their unicorn hot chocolate is adorable!

Mackenzie Jandernoa: Super cute and friendly spot! The Reese peanut butter cup cookie bar was absolutely phenomenal and worth every bite. I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie and the half brownie/half cookie bar as well, however, the funfetti cupcake was a huge miss for me; this certainly could be due to personal preference. It just didn’t have much flavor. More specifically, the frosting was super bland. Overall, it’s still worth stopping in and checking out the variety of treats they have to offer!

I ordered a vanilla cake with Oreo filling, as well as a few dozen cakesicles in red velvet, funfetti and cookie butter. All were delicious, but my favorite was definitely the cookie butter! I sent her an inspiration photo for the cake, but ultimately gave her creative freedom to do whatever she wanted. The cake came out so fun! Since then we have always paid the extra $25 to have the cake delivered instead of picking it up. The cakes always taste amazing and always look good. The only thing I will say is that my last cake was delivered in a box that smelled like smoke, so I had to immediately take it out of the box and throw the box away. Chrissy Farmer: Very good! There is a gluten free option which is incredibly delicious. I’m a huge fan of allergen friendly menus. My family was pleased. The cakes are moist and the icing is perfect. It’s fun for kids because mine got to build their own cupcake. Expect to pay $6 a cup cake, but worth it.

Avonlea: One of my favorite spots when in DC. The cupcakes are so moist and your definitely getting your moneys worth! Before the pandemic the line would go down the street, but since they close earlier you can walk right in. They also have other treats other than cupcakes. Their Rice Krispies are very good! Marina Ekman: I went into Baked and Wired on a Saturday near mid day, and was greeted politely by staff, so that was nice. I took a look at their menu on the board, and was surprised to see that there weren’t any prices posted. I then took a look at their foldout menus, and no prices on there either. I was finally able to track down the price of their cupcakes online (they were over $6 per) yet i was unable to find prices for their drinks (but that could be my error) I decided to order the coconut cupcake and a green tea, and my food was delivered to me swiftly! The cupcake itself was very delicious and rich, yet a little lacking on the coconut flavor, and the tea was hot and scrumptious! I definitely would visit again! Edit: I was finally able to obtain a biscuit from them (thanks to the lovely staff for their help!) and it was very tasty! The biscuit is a drop type soda biscuit with the ingredients mixed into it, rather than a layered biscuit.

Da-Wang Wu: A lovely little bakery with many different flavors of cupcakes. They also sell coffee and tea on the other side of the counter. The staff mentioned that carrot cake and strawberry are two popular flavors in their cupcakes. Carrot cake is pretty delicious, but strawberry is just okay for me. Although I don’t like frosting in general, my friend said that their frosting felt freshly made and he actually enjoyed it. Overall, the drinks and cake are a bit too sweet for me, but I guess it might be just fine for others.

Matthew Hsu: I heard about Georgetown Cupcakes and decided to give it a try since I was in the area. The line to get in was long. I waited for about 20 minutes. They have quite a bit of variety of cupcakes and all tasted pretty good. The packaging is quite impressive as well. The location is about an 8 minute walk from Georgetown University.

Kiki Fasbender: Georgetown Cupcake was fantastic. Our bus broke down outside (we think it was destiny!!) of their shop and they handled 33 of us like pros. I highly recommend the coffee toffee and my son loved the Dad Chocolate. We both washed them down with a big glass of Whole Milk. We love whole milk and were thrilled they had that as an option.

Renee Kar-Johnson: The best cupcakes I have ever had in my life. The new flavors really got me and made me feel some kind of way. I waited in line for a hour and a half and I would do it again. They ran out of tea so they even gave me a free cupcake. I can’t even imagine why people like baked and wired ;)

Jason Lin: Be prepared to wait if you didn’t order ahead. To us, their cupcakes were just okay/average. We visited Georgetown Cupcake on a Tuesday evening. There was a long line outside the door (as currently they only allow one party in the store at one time). It was a 50 minute wait for us (arrived ~5:35pm, got our cupcakes ~6:25pm). As they close at 7pm, and more people were still coming, one of the employees came outside a little after 6pm to announce that they only had very limited flavors left for the day. It was nice they did this. The ordering process wasn’t very efficient; the employee pretty much needed to explain to each group of customers about what flavors they still had. If this can be digitized on a display (with counts would be awesome) it would make ordering a much smoother and quicker process. As for the taste of their cupcakes, we felt they were just average. The bread part was on the dry/firm side. Their size was on the smaller end. Icing was okay; some flavors were too sweet and some were just right (we prefer not too sweet). Other than some flavors being nicely decorated, we felt overall they’re not that special and not worth $3.75 a piece. All in all, as it’s an extremely popular place, we wanted to give it a try. Now we have done it, will we go back? Maybe not, not with this type of wait line and this price - to us it’s not worth it. I’m sure a lot of people love their cupcakes, whether it’s because of their taste, decorations, or just name brand, but unfortunately they didn’t amaze us. It’s still good to see them become an iconic and successful business in this area and we still hope they continue to do well and serve many many more customers in the years to come.

For me, the carrot cake flavor was next level amazing. Fluffy Thoughts also recreated my husband’s racing shoes for his 40th bday cake. It was a hit. They were unbelievably detailed…even including the insole! My husband got out his shoes to compare…he loved the whole thing. The almond flavored cake with a crunch layer did not disappoint. Even though we had actively discussed the design and seen drawings made by Lara, we were not prepared for how beautiful it would be in-person. Fluffy Thoughts was phenomenal to work with from day 1, when setting up a consultation. They worked with us when we had to downsize our wedding from a 200 person wedding to a small 5 person elopement. Amazingly, they were able to capture the essence of the design for our cake and transform it into a petite beauty. We got the strawberry lemonade flavor and it was delightfully light (especially after a heavy dinner). I am a fan of fondant and the fresh-made fondant was light and delicious.

Andrew: Great for people with multiple food allergies. Be very careful when telling them your allergies as the color coding is very specific. One particular lady there told us that we could use blue and green but it turns out she did not hear that. My kid was allergic to egg so one of those colors was incorrect. Once you know what colors are good, you can stick with those knowing it will be fine

Kim: Thank you thank you thank you! Once again you all have never ceased to amaze me with something different and new every birthday every year for me and my other half-lef! My Wonder Woman“themed” cake with the subtle red white and blue with the stars (A fun living clue I was supposed to figure out what it represented ) was a hit! Delicious vanilla and lovd the pineapple filling! You make the best gluten-free cakes around and taste is absolutely phenomenal!

Jared Alvarado: Friendly people, tasty pastries. I get to come here a few times a year and it’s always a treat to look forward to. I always get the vegan pastries, but I’m guessing the conventional ones are tasty as well.

Robert smith: Great vegan options! Loved the sugarless blondies and chocolate brownies. Good black bean burger and got. Vegan peach muffin for breakfast next day. Just wish they were open earlier as I would have visited again before my meeting! Only bottled water to drink…

Taunia Stevenson: This place is amazing! I was more than impressed with the service and blown away when I received my order! Jaimie (and staff) are the best! Did an outstanding job on my 40th birthday cupcakes! Almost didn’t want to eat them because they looked so beautiful! These were the best gluten free cupcakes I’ve had to date. I will most definitely order from this bakery again. If you have gluten (dietary) restrictions (or just want some good cakes and baked goods) I highly recommend this bakery. They also have a good menu of other gluten free eats when you visit the bakery! Outstanding!

Chanpen Tee: The place looks so nice and clean. The staff is friendly. And chocolate croissants is good. I will tey their coffee next time.

Celestino Garcia: This coffee shop is dope. The coffee is a great and the pastries are A1. Breakfast sandwich is pretty good too.

Meg Voorhis: Upscale bakery and coffee spot in the greater union market corridor. Fresh savory vegetarian options and good bread, but a bit pricy (~$50 lunch for 4 items) and service from the made to order menu was slow.

Hannah Yoo: Best pastries in the city!! Seriously I always try to stop in for a bite then end up eating the entire pastry case. I especially love the croissants and morning buns, and they also have beautiful salads and yummy pizzas. Also love that it’s a small business owned by locals. Love spending all day here drinking coffee and catching up with friends on weekends. Neighborhood gem!

Alex: This breakfast sandwich is honestly one of the best in DC. Freshly made bun + tender, sweet, salty pork belly + perfectly cooked egg. Amazing.
