BETA Academy: what do users think?

Ma D: Awesome place for beginners and advanced BJJ lovers. Very friendly people. Good technics. I highly recommended this place who visiting Washington DC also who decided to start practising Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Guys when you browsing different clubs with thoughts about what to choose please go there and you will meet really cool professional people. Good luck everyone. Oss.

Jack Cantlay: The instruction is top notch. Your instructors are amazing and follow a coherent system of training so that each week is a new thing. The gym culture is very friendly and welcoming but I still feel like I can get competitive live rolls. It really matters that your instructors are so friendly. That goes a long way. But they still push me! I love the balance.

Thuhuong Dao: - Coach to child ratio was excellent. - Coaches did a great job working the room and - working with each child/group. - Introduction/greet for my children’s first class was great and energetic. - Disciplining the students during class was thorough and appreciated. - Dismissal of students was organized (liked how the coach only let the kids go when he say the parents).

Tara Trinity: Coach Carlos, coach D, everyone is amazing. We love Beta!!!! My son has come into an environment that supports him and is compassionate as well as disciplined. The diversity is something I was personally looking for, and that’s something that is even more a bonus.

Tim .G: We were in DC on vacation and they welcomed us in for open mat, even stayed later to roll. Coach Gabriel was awesome. Awesome facility! Super friendly community! I definitely recommend!

Tyrone Calvin: I’m no strange to BETA academy and every time I go, I leave better than I arrived. Everyone is very friendly and professional. The Brazilian Ju Jitsu class is informative and state of the art in self defense.

CJ Francis: I love the welcoming culture, the high level and clarity of instruction, the daily availability of no gi classes as well as gi. Also the ample amount of time given for both drilling and sparring.

Saron Dessalegn: Friendly Coaches are willing to help and give good instructions!! Definitely recommend for a great education in Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu.

N-Flux: what do users think?

Katherine Daw: I went to self defense for women and femmes with Colleen! Amazing course! Colleen has designed the curriculum with both practicality and thoughtfulness in mind. She made sure all of us felt safe, cared for, and heard throughout the experience, even as we were tackling difficult topics and potentially triggering exercises and drills. She and the folks helping out were very knowledgeable and gave great pointers and individual attention to everyone in the class. I’ve come out of the weekend very sore, but feeling empowered and much more confident in my ability to defend myself in an emergency. This class has also inspired me to continue training in martial arts so that I continue to hone my self defense skills. Truly can’t recommend this highly enough.

Kay Tang: Colleen and her team of instruction assistants are amazing. They truly create a great space for females to voice, share, and learn the everyday challenge to their safety. I learned a lot!

Leah Wilson-Lyons: I went to self defense for femmes with Colleen and had the BEST time. A welcoming gym environment for women that you won’t find at other places. I feel strong and empowered and lucky to have taken the self defense course. Every woman in DC should take this course!! It is so worth every penny. Colleen goes above and beyond to help you outside of class and to get to know you personally. The environment is very supportive and helped with my anxiety going in. Great community at that gym. I will be back!

Sean Leonard: I was a complete beginner to martial arts classes, and N-Flux was a fantastic, welcoming environment. There was a broad range of skill levels – from completely new people to seasoned professionals. Would highly recommend for someone looking for a place with a good sense of community, wide range of classes, or even a good open gym environment.

Jaimie Nawaday: I traveled from Brooklyn to DC for the women’s self-defense intensive with Colleen Daly because I heard such great things about Colleen and couldn’t find anything comparable even in NYC. It was absolutely the best thing I’ve done for myself in years. The training, the environment, the instruction, the whole atmosphere was everything I was looking for. It was both incredibly tough and incredibly supportive. I was sore from head to toe, my knuckles were wrecked, and I had the time of my life. Will recommend to everyone I know.

Alexis Barton: I highly recommend the Guerrera workshop and Colleen that I took with N-Flux. I took the workshop with my 12 year old daughter and we both had an incredible experience - both with Colleen and the other instructors and with the group of women in the workshop with us. We were a mix of women of different ages, sizes, life-experience, and abilities but we all felt included and comfortable - which for practicing something like this is so important. Colleen made every technique and strategy accessible and straightforward but we still learned so much. Thank you!

Urban Boxing: what do users think?

Megan Eitel: This is the best boxing gym I’ve been to in DC. Coaches take every opportunity to improve individual form and technique while giving the entire class an excellent workout. Every coach provides an intense and unique workout. I especially love the attention to form and technique that are provided in both Josh and Jeremy’s classes. This gym, and all of its coaches have improved my boxing form, technique, strength and stamina.

Vanessa Salazar: 100% recommend Urban Boxing to anyone looking for a high-quality boxing gym! All of the coaches are knowledgeable and friendly. All levels are welcome! Kickboxing with Ify on Wednesday’s are awesome!

Anne Richardson: When my 14 yo son said to me “mom, I want to try boxing” I thought: “great! But how on earth do I get into the boxing world not knowing anything , and, it’s it going to be an ok place for a kid?” UB was incredible, they walked him through the into process, treated him like a kid with kindness but also as a serious athlete. They are patient, kind, and approachable. Christian and Josh in particular, are spectacular trainers and really great people. Crane is at the desk and is informed, kind, and a super friendly presence to greet you. My son is certainly challenged, and leaves the place feeling so great about himself every time:like going to church! We love UB and will continue to train there as long as we can!

Nicolette DeLorenzo: I love urban boxing! The coaches are professionals, and yet make boxing feel accessible. I started kickboxing, then transitioned to taking all classes. You get the opportunity to train, spar, develop athletically and strategically. Would recommend urban boxing to anyone looking for not only a new workout routine, but a chance to feel empowered and strong inside and out!

Gabriel Söderberg: Super professional, honest, and with awesome atmosphere. No binding multi-month or yearly contracts for training- just as it should be. Also, awesome trainers and staff - totally recommend training here.

Bethesda Boxing & Kickboxing Academy: what do users think?

Anna Breiteneder: I love BBKA! Ken is really nice and always has a smile on the face and makes jokes. You feel like a part of their boxing family from the moment you step in the room. Julie is the absolute best! She is really encouraging and always in a good mood. I only started kickboxing a short while ago but I feel as if I‘ve already made a good progress. They always take their time to talk to everyone individually and show interest in you as a person! Every lesson is different and so much fun!! Would recommend 11/10!

Kim Bohince: Bethesda Boxing is hands-down the best boxing studio for beginners, intermediate and advanced individuals who want to feel mentally and physically powerful. I attend classes three times a week, and always immediately look forward to the next. Ken, the owner, is fantastic and makes a point to know your name and you genuinely feel like part of the Bethesda Boxing family. Base is my favorite trainer, who always pushes you to your max, varies the workouts, is beyond helpful, and wants you to be your best self. You will thank yourself for signing up, I promise you!

Caitlin Caselli: Being someone who moved here knowing no one, BBKA has provided me with a community. I look forward to coming to class almost everyday and I have learned a lot. The instructors are highly qualified and genuinely care about you learning the skills. Classes start on time and get you sweating, I guarantee you’ll be sore after your first couple classes but in the best way. Instructors, owner and fellow boxers and kickboxers keep tabs on each other and make sure they are doing well outside of the gym as well. The only thing that would ever make me leave this gym is when I have to move again.

Wolf Mina: I love BBKA! I’ve been a long time member and still enjoy it. The team always welcomes you with smiles and happiness. At one point I was exercising while pregnant and Julie was excellent. She always made sure I would not hurt myself. Now I have my baby and they are SUPER ACCOMMODATING! I can workout and bring my little one with me, and everybody is nice to her. Now it’s like a family for her too because she sees them on a regular basis. This Club is great!

Le Bustiere Boutique: Excellent gym for kickboxing and boxing classes. All the trainers are motivational and will help you get that form and extra rep in. Highly recommend them for a boxing class or functional strength training class. We have been coming here for a while and love it! Great for getting those fitness new years resolutions complete.

Deirdre Angelastro: Hands down best workout for Kids and Adults-- a true Family Boxing Gym! Ken started an Autism Boxing Program that is not only a great workout but my son feels empowered and engaged! He looks forward to going every time!

Hannah: I have been coming here for about nine months, and every time I come in, I have a great time. Everyone is incredibly supportive and more than willing to provide assistance. There are many options regarding class rigor, which is perfect for those who are beginners or pros. When I was beginning, the instructor was so helpful, and I was paired with someone who helped me go through the motions. I haven’t had a single negative experience here, and I highly recommend coming here!

Estilo Jiu Jitsu: what do users think?

John Graeber: Excellent training by Estilo Jiu Jitsu. I came with no background and after 4 months I feel like I am really feeling comfortable. The training and instruction is great at all levels and the technique is extremely well taught. I love that the instruction is always followed up by questions that people may have. It makes you feel welcome. The conditioning aspect is great. I always feel like we are being pushed to go hard in sparring and take fewer breaks to build up our personal conditioning. Love coming here and cannot recommend it enough to those who are looking for strong training at all levels.

Jo Festas: Positive: ValueI have been training BJJ for a long time and across many academies throughout the world. Luis is a fantastic instructor and the quality of team is impeccable! On top of that, the environment is really really nice :)

Robert Maldonado: Great and inviting atmosphere. Luis is an experienced and great instructor. I’ve been training here a couple months and have quickly become friends with most of my training partners. There are a wide range of experience levels from people just starting to people who have been training for decades. Could not recommend Estilo Jiu Jitsu enough to anyone in the DMV who is looking to train.

Mark Russell: Positive: Communication, ProfessionalismMoved from New England and quickly found the best BJJ instruction in the DC area. Luis is always welcoming and professional and has a deep understanding of the sport. Classes are geared for all levels of knowledge and all of my training partners have been friendly!

Martin Gallardo Garrath: Great BJJ team! People are very nice and skillful. All coaches are very good instructures and approachable. Good place to both, start training and compete!

Sebastian Podesta: Excellent academy and instruction. They offer intro, advanced, standup-focused, wrestling-focused, competition-focused, gi and no-gi sessions. Friendly group that’s fun to train with, welcoming, treat each other with respect but also tough rolls.

JTR Jujutsu International: what do users think?

Maura Policelli: The instructors at JTR are exceptional! Our granddaughter is learning the art of jujutsu as well as the importance of discipline, self control, respect, and integrity. She is part of an amazing community of young athletes and dedicated teachers. We are so very grateful to Master Don and Master Mobi!

Carole Bernard: I highly recommend the Women Self Defense and Adult beginner jujutsu classes. I joined the self defense class with my 2 teenage daughters 2 years ago and the jujutsu class more recently. The training has been fantastic to build up strength, stamina but more importantly to gain skills and confidence in self defense. There is a wide choice of classes during the week - 3 weekly classes for women self defense and the adult jujutsu classes are running every day! so no excuse not to train! The instructors and masters are very caring about you and your progress.

oscar sanz-paris: A real jewel in DC. There is a wealth of knowledge in a unusually large group of masters an instructors, each bringing a deep understanding and unique knowledge to share. Mater Don and Master Andrae do an incredible job creating a caring community around the dojo. My son started training 3 years ago in the juniors class, when we moved to DC. His confidence, auto-discipline and maturity has grown enormously thanks to the engaging yet effective teaching styles of master Mobi and Master Don. He enjoyed the program so much, we all decided to join in (even me...aged 50...). One of the best decision ever!

Amma Hewitt: JTR jujutsu is an incredible place for children and families to grow. There is an emphasis on being the best you can be, and supporting others to be the best that they can be. This message is so refreshing in a world that emphasizes competition over collaboration. Children are reminded about the importance about practice, honesty and an earnest spirit. There are lessons here for young, old, and in between. We are so privileged to be part of the JTR community!

Nick P: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueMy daughter joined a few months ago as a beginner and absolutely loves it. The instructors are fantastic and she has learned so much already.

Stephen Jefferson: The instructors are great. My son loves coming here and he is learning alot.

District Martial Arts | MMA Gym: what do users think?

Drew Ehlers: Positive: ProfessionalismThe classes that I attended at District were great! BJJ, Boxing, Muay Thai- all professionally coached, and the group of men that I trained with were exceptional. Trainers and Participants all were very helpful in making sure everyone was progressing.

Rachel Wang: The community at DMA was incredibly welcoming even for beginners -- people remembered my name and gave me helpful tips from the very first class I attended. Not only do they have boxing and muay thai classes, they also have weekly yoga, which I really appreciated. Definitely recommend checking out this community, even if you’re a beginner like me!

Gerald Bryant: Pros: The gym offers a good variety of martial arts with instructors that are very knowledgeable and lead great classes.Cons: Gym is smaller so make sure to schedule classes enough ahead of time to ensure a slot in the class.

Andrew Turner: My girlfriend and I attended a free trial class the other day. At first we were both nervous and confused, but this was partly because we showed up late and without signing our waivers yet. When we jumped in we felt a bit out of place, but that changed quickly. I have a small amount of experience but my girlfriend has next to none but we both found the MMA class to be accommodating (especially with the kind and patient instructor). Overall, a wonderful environment with quality equipment, great people, and excellent instruction.

Laura Gross: Positive: QualityI really enjoy my classes at this gym, everyone is so welcoming. For a new person just getting into martial arts all my instructors were super supportive and provided clear direction. Whether you are looking to change up your workouts or learn a new skill I would highly recommend giving this gym a try.

Gori Olufon: I go to District Martial Arts for Brazilian Juijitsu, BJJ and it is excellent. The coaches are knowledgeable and encouraging and the facility is beautiful. I’m really looking forward to the new Judo class! Here’s to another amazing year!

Capital MMA & Elite Fitness | Takoma Park, MD: what do users think?

Dimitry Vesensky: I started training at Capital MMA & Elite Fitness in Takoma Park fairly late in life, in my 40 and was little worried about being injured and all but I can say that I could not find a better, safer place to train with more competent, motivated, attentive and patient teachers and comrades in arms. In few years I trained i got in probably best shape I have been. The group of people that formed in these years in the academy is fantastic, these are one of the best training partners I had...It is great to see guys grow immensely in skill and conditioning in these few years. All in all excellent place to train in authentic, battle tested system. The only warning I can give is that it gets addictive!

Hernan Guadalupe: I have been training at Capital MMA & Elite Fitness in Takoma Park for close to 4 years. Above the amazing Jiu Jitsu program they offer is the even more amazing people that belong to Capital. My growth as a Jiu Jitsu practitioner is due more to the overwhelming concern and attention giving by the instructors and other teammates than anything else. There is no ego nor individualism that exists in the academy which facilitates and accelerates your growth in the sport. I have awesome training partners and have built great friendships along the way and that, to me, is the essence of the academy. The great part is that this also extends to their other locations in Alexandria, Loudon, and Fairfax as I have had the chance to train at all. So if you want to learn quality Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu in an ego-free environment and train hard while building awesome relationships, this is the place for you.

Amy Boccardi: My 7 year old son has been training at Capital MMA/Takoma for the past year. Unlike other martial arts schools that seem impersonal and focused on making money, the folks at Capital are truly committed to building relationships with families and helping kids to grow as both young people and athletes. Kids classes are a nice size of 6-10 kids with 2-3 coaches. While active, but not really a "sports" kid, training jiu jitsu provides my son with a good balance of both physical activity and thinking for strategy.

Joe McMahon: I have been training at Capital Takoma for over three years now and I have loved every minute of it. What started as just a way to get in shape while learning Gracie self-defense and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I then added on Muay Thai on top of that to get in even better shape. The thing that has always struck me is not only is the instruction top notch but also friendly and inclusive. On top of this Jay Ferrari and company strive to make a family friendly environment where even the most die hard competitors can excel.

Ascend Institute of Martial Arts: what do users think?

Gerrit Davis: This gym becomes home very quickly. The community consists of people from all walks and the instructors are so knowledgeable! I highly recommend Ascend to anyone and think it is extremely well-suited for folks looking to try jiu jitsu for the very first time.

engelien zegers: Had a great session at Ascend with Uriel . We love that they are so supportive and instruction on self defense was greatly appreciated. This is a wonderful environment to learn Martial Arts !! Honest and supportive staff that is there when you need them.

A.J. Calbert: I have been coming to Ascend since January 2018 for fitness classes. The classes are challenging, and I can tell that I am getting stronger and can handle more cardio than before. The coaches take their time to explain the exercises and push you to keep going even when it gets tough.

Sean Wignall: Amazing instructors, and one of the nicest facilities in the area. The brazilian jiu jitsu is fantastic. The location is convenient and metro accessible off the red line. I recommend stopping in!

jokerjitsu 13: Visiting family in the area and Josh and Ascend welcomed me with open arms and made me feel comfortable and like part of the team! I highly recommend this place for great instruction and a family atmosphere. Thank you from Jodi!

Maya Olic: Amazing first experience!! loved working with Uriel! Highly recommending for all parents in Bethesda area, it will change your kids lives!

Lloyd Irvin's Mixed Martial Arts Academy: what do users think?

Will O.: 10/10 recommend to anyone and everyone of any age, shape, size. I stepped in for the first time around Nov 2017 and knew it was the place for me to be. The atmosphere of excellence is present whether you go train in the morning or evening; you’ll always see pros and world champions training. It’s a very welcoming place for people who just want to go in and lose weight, the elderly, even people who never threw one punch in their life. Master Donnie, Master Lloyd, Coach Jamal I’ve always been able to reach out and talk with them after classes. I’ve become more overall healthy since coming here, built better habits, I’ve learned self confidence here, the power of positive self affirmation, and much more. Big thanks to this amazing team.

Scott Cook: Lloyd Irvin MMA is amazing! Not only does the academy put out some of the best BJJ & MMA fighters in the world, it’s wonderfully structured for beginners and children as well. Friendly and welcoming environment where you’ll feel like family from day one. The instructors are top notch, you get to learn from champions. Even if competition isn’t something that interests you, knowing that the instructors are teaching you moves that work on the highest level gives confidence that you’re learning stuff that really works! No matter your goals, whether it’s to lose weight and get in better shape, build confidence and self-esteem, be in a goal oriented and positive environment, learn something new and make friends, fill a competitive void or you want to have a child that is happy, confident and has the tools to protect themselves against bullies... LLOYD IRVIN MMA IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!

SkyHy Consultants LLC: Best Bjj /mma gym in the state(Maryland) with a super kids program and an awesome adult program as well. And the cool thing about it is you learn with some of the best Bjj team in the world .

MOM BOSS: We come from Texas when it’s training camp time. Everyone is very welcoming. Very professional. Great facility. They have a great kids program that I can’t wait to enroll my little one soon when he’s old enough! Coach’s are all amazing! And they have a handful of CHAMPION level fighters that come out of team Lloyd Irving! So wether you are a beginner wanting to see what MMA is about or goal is to compete I highly recommend this place!

Rhiannon Odom: Lloyd Irvin’s gym is hands down the best jiu jitsu training in the DMV. I’ve hopped around a few different gyms before getting the invite to Lloyd’s gym and there’s no comparison. He takes ALL of his athletes goals seriously and puts everything into his students, even if he is out of town to coach and support his UFC fighters, he is checking in on us and letting us know what we should be working on in his absence. He pushes his athletes to reach their full potential mentally and physically. The environment is very clean, safe, and respectful. I’m glad I’ve found my gym home and I wouldn’t recommend any other gym for jiu jitsu training.

Jim K: The most successful Jiu Jitsu school run by an American. Top notch coaching and instruction that produces WORLD CHAMPIONS at every age level and every belt level. World champion kids. World champion adults. White belt through black belt. Highly structured, world class kids program. These kids are not only learning self defense, they’re learning life skills and building good habits that give them a competitive edge in school and the workplace. Lots of kids in the kids program at Lloyd Irvin’s Martial Arts Academy have not only won championships but have excelled in the classroom. Lots of kids have gone to college and thrived, and have moved forward to become upstanding citizens of their communities. Many of the kids are now giving back, teaching other kids how to be champions on and off the mat. Talk about building strong families and helping the community! It doesn’t get better than that! And sure, the competitors win. The kids win, the adult competitors win. But there is more to this program than just competing and winning. So many kids and adults that have made the smart decision to train at Lloyd Irvin’s Martial Arts Academy have achieved personal goals, like: — Shed unwanted body fat — Become more confident — Learn how to defend oneself in a fight — Do better in school — Perform better at work — Improve focus — Feel safer on the streets — Make new friends — Be part of a successful TEAM — And so much more... The list of benefits you could receive from joining a school like this can go on and on, so the best advice I could give is to call the school immediately and get started NOW. I love this place and always will and I am confident you will too.

Fort Washington United: what do users think?

Willie Hicks: Hope this review helps anyone on the fence……..our son is an energetic (kid has a lithium Ion Tesla battery), rambunctious, 100% boy. We love him to pieces but noticed his weight was slowly creeping up, his attention span, and listening skills weren’t where we wanted them to be. We wanted to be proactive and get him into a disciplined environment while also increasing his physical activity. We researched different Martial Arts Academy’s in the Fort Washington area and came across Fort Washington United. We initially called in January 2021 and spoke with Nicole. Within a week we decided to bring our son in for a trial class. The atmosphere and environment was very welcoming. The staff stopped what they were doing to invite us in, take us on a tour, and answer the zillion questions we had. Our son immediately fell in love with the class and was a participant 4-5 times a week in the evenings and on Saturday’s. Fast forward to the Spring and we were prompted with the decision to do the traditional Summer Camp for our son, or enroll him in the Summer Program offered at Fort Washington United. We are so glad we went with FWU. Our son (who turned 6 in May) has progressed immensely in the areas of reading, problem solving, communication, public speaking, water safety (swimming), and leadership. The lessons and principles instilled by the staff has turned our son into a responsible, respectful natural leader who can also throw a hell of a punch and follow with a roundhouse kick, but will also help an old lady across the street……..AWESOME STAFF! AWESOME MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM! Can’t say enough great things……wish I could give them 10 STARS!

Kisha DeSandies Lester: Earlier this spring, I was looking for a martial arts academy for my five year old son, who was about to start kindergarten. My husband and I wanted to help him get used to being about other kids, since he had been in quarantine for over a year with little to no other time to play with kids his age. We also wanted to instill confidence, respect and self-control and believe that mixed martial arts is a good way to achieve that. I had planned on starting our son in a program in the fall, but as I looked for summer camp programs, I discovered Fort Washington United (FWU). Initially, we wanted to make sure that our son could keep up with the summer program and the evening classes. The staff was great is working with us and our son to assess his ability and we were able to register him for 5-6 weeks of summer camp and the daily martial arts classes. Our son LOVES FWU! He enjoys the structure and working with the coaches and all of the moves that he learns each week. He also is making friends with the other students. Because our son doesn’t attend school nearby, we are not enrolled in the after school program, but we would if we could. Martial arts has given our son confidence and he’s excited to practice his moves at home to anyone who will watch! The summer camp was simply phenomenal! Our son loved the weekly themes, lessons and field trips they went on. The coaches taught the kids important values and taught them how to speak up, be respectful, be responsible, and be a good citizen of the academy. We also loved how the kids worked in teams, by age and presented their projects each week. We were blown away that our 5-year-old was doing PowerPoint presentations and building airplanes and coming up with business plans. There is also a wonderful education track during the summer camp week and after-school program to help keep your child learning at their grade level and beyond (if they are able to). This summer camp also prepared him for the social aspects of kindergarten (eating lunch, playing with others, transitions to different activities, keeping up with your personal items, etc.) I read a review about how this program may not be for younger kids. I would say that it would depend on the child. My son has thrived at FWU. He was one of the youngest kids in the summer program and he did great! He also is inspired and motivated by the older kids, and teens who help with the summer camp. I also think that a lot of our kids need to get a little real-world consequences for their actions when they don’t follow the rules. My son is motivated by that and the point system is an appropriate tool in the academy setting. He doesn’t like losing points because other kids on his team aren’t listening, so he tries to be a leader and example, which we like to see. Overall, I have and will continue to recommend FMU to parents. It’s a safe and nurturing place to have your kids. The staff (Steve, Nicole, Karen, Jason, Charles) are all upbeat and keep you informed on what’s going on. I love how Coaches Jason and Charles are with my son and all the kids. We love that Steve and Nicole are veterans and they have made the decision to pour into the lives of kids. Karen is always helpful, pleasant and supportive every time I see her. My husband and I have been really happy with the decision to enroll our son in this program.

Dawn Washington: I am the mom of a special needs child. I was very hesitant to put him in martial arts. I’m glad we did, best decision we ever made! Grappling and striking have boosted my sons self esteem. During summer camp, the group went on museum tours. Each week had a educational theme. They learned coding, finance principles and received points for each book they read over the summer. The points could be used for toys and games. Now that school has started, the focus is on homework. I worried the staff wouldn’t be one on one with my son for his studies so I didn’t bother sending his homework. Imagine my surprise when his teacher sent multiplication homework home and my son already knew it! He’d work with staff using Kahn academy. Great place, great staff!!!

Jazmin Simms: I highly recommend UMAA. My son Mason has attended the after school program for almost 2 years now and I could not be more thankful to the coaches and staff. Since attending, Mason has become a lot more confident, disciplined and an overall better student. The coaches and staff care a lot about the kids and always go the extra mile to help whether it’s with training or homework.

Steven Hoang: The United Martial Arts Academy has classes for the entire family! The classes are great for people of all ages that want to learn top rated self defense and get fit! The kids have a ton of fun during classes! I would recommend this gym to anyone again and again!

fairlane urbina: My son goes to UMAA to their after school program. The coach never misses a day to update us that my son got picked from school, in the van and when they’re in school. We celebrated my son’s 11th birthday at UMAA and the theme was Nerf Blast. The party was a “BLAST” all kids had a great time and the staffs did a “BLAST” job! I highly recommend this school. Not only they love what they do, but they care the well being of their students.

Jaquan Butler: United Martial Arts Academy is great environment to build a foundation for martial arts. With a diligent staff and wonderful community it is an excellent environment for learning, guaranteed to instill the calmness and confidence needed to succeed.

Pentagon Mixed Martial Arts: what do users think?

Michael “Newmie” Newman: Fantastic facilities, welcoming owners & staff, excellent initiative and follow up from highly-qualified & patient trainers. My son & i both excel (soar!) at every professionally-designed training session and class at Pentagon MMA. Teddy is my regular trainer, consistently showing up to push me, break me, lift me when my own efforts are lacking. Sifting out the weak vibes with slick music, his enabling fortitude is the exact coaching you will benefit from as well. Trust this reborn, remade 55 yr old “dad with gray hair and missing memory” — the place to find your fit self again is right here at Pentagon MMA. #[As known well, the discipline must come from within YOU. For this gym and the facilities, along with the experienced staff, and your committed presence combined is THE ONE *CATALYST* YOU need to patiently push yourself to find again once-held that holistic belief in yourself… and achieve grand, new fitness goals. Results guaranteed!]

Joshua Ogboenyiya: I have been a member at pentagon for about 3 years now and I can’t think of a better gym to train at. All the coaches take their time explaining the different techniques, and they really have an attention for detail. I can tell this is more than fitness and being in shape. Everyone at pentagon truly wants students to grow and improve as martial artists. Everyone is warm and inviting and you can immediately get the feeling of a community among the student, coaches, and staff. I would recommend training at pentagon to anyone who has thought about joining a gym but hasn’t taken the leap yet – you won’t regret it.

B: Thoroughly enjoyed my time at PMMA over the course of 3-4 years. Was a great way to keep in shape while learning self defense arts. Also a great way to keep yourself humble while sparring against other focused driven individuals. Can’t recommend enough. Coaching staff was also excellent abs they kept the place clean and tidy.

Carl Weis: After looking at several MMA gyms in the area, I decided to give Pentagon MMA a try. Their involvement in the community and kids programs are what appealed to me at first, because I was looking for a place that my 4 year old could attend, but it was everything else about this gym that convinced me to start training there as well. This place is awesome! The staff, instructors, and students are very professional, friendly, and welcoming. I have seen so much improvement with my son and his behavior after going here, and I have seen huge improvement in my training as well. I cannot say enough good things about this gym. If you are looking to get into martial arts, Muay Thai, Brazilian Ju Jitsu, or any of their other programs you owe it to yourself to try it out. I promise you won’t regret it. You will get into the best shape of your life, and will be part of a family that encourages you to be your best self inside and outside of the gym. You will make friends and above all you will build habits that last. Thank you for everything that you do. I’m proud to represent Pentagon MMA and recommend it to everyone I know.

Eleanor D: I came to Pentagon MMA after trying a few other martial arts gyms in the area and immediately liked the atmosphere, the classes, and the people. The trial program was awesome, and I signed up to start the second I finished it. While I love the Muay Thai classes, and how they push you outside your comfort zone and work every part of your body, the best thing about this place is the community they have cultivated. There’s no better place to train!

Celine Ferguson: This gym is amazing! The staff is friendly, professional, and incredible at what they do. They’ve made me feel welcome since day one and really do their best to make sure you understand the technique & train hard. In just a few months I’ve learned so much and still feel physically challenged every time I walk in. I highly recommend pentagon MMA.

Nicholas Hunter: I started at Pentagon MMA when I was only 11 years old in the young warriors program. Ever since I started the instructors there focused on teaching not only martial arts but discipline and respect too. They made sure to push everyone in the class and to make sure they learned not only martial arts but life lessons as well. I am now 18 and still attend classes at pentagon MMA however, now they are the adult classes. The instructors make the classes a lot of fun for everyone while also pushing us to become better. The environment at pentagon MMA is one of the best things about the gym. Everyone is so nice and always willing to help, it’s just one big friend group where everyone has fun.

Black Belt Martial Arts Center: what do users think?

Ernest Williams: An excellent martial arts studio for kids and adults. Extremely supportive and motivated staff with a program focused around self improvement and developing core values. Highly recommend.

Gabriella Johnson: Our family has been a part of the BBMAC community for 2 years now and we LOVE it! My son is in the Tae Kwon doe class and it has amazed me so much to see how much he has grown in confidence and discipline. When the quarantine began, they started zoom classes, it was the only consistent routine my son had, and it helped so much, emotionally, and physically. The outdoor classes for his age group are a great addition and he gets to hang out, at a safe distance, with his peers. I too knew I needed an outlet to decompress from the everyday stressors and just to stay fit and healthy during quarantine, so I began their adult program through zoom classes, and it has seriously helped me overall. With the different time slots, they offer over both adult programs, I am able to get in a daily workout. The instructors are attentive, engaging and good-hearted, I recommend BBMAC to everyone.

Maria Jones: My family has been members with BBMAC for just over two years now. My son participates in Tae Kwon Do and I take adult fitness kickboxing classes. With quarantine the last several months, BBMAC began offering zoom classes which has really helped with our routine and kept us sane. They are now offering adult outdoor Strength & Conditioning classes, which has challenged me in new ways and I really enjoy taking these classes in addition to the virtual kickboxing. My son is also able to take outdoor Tae Kwon Do classes now, and it has been great to see him smile with friends and instructors! BBMAC continues to put the safety of its students first, going above and beyond the safety guidelines including physical distancing, sanitizing, and mask wearing. The outdoor classes take place in the large parking lot outside the gym, with 12x12 ft boxes marked off. We feel very comfortable participating in these in-person outdoor classes. The workouts are great but even better the instructors and entire BBMAC team are an amazing and supportive community that is always welcoming to new students.

Ka Fl: If you are looking for a safe place to work out during the pandemic BBMAC will not disappoint you. They offer outside Strength & Conditioning classes which are great and challenging but adaptable to all fitness levels. At the beginning of each class everyone gets a cleaning caddy to clean equipment and mats, everyone wears a mask when getting equipment. You work out outside in a big space where you have your own box so you are 12 feet apart from each other. I feel safe; the workouts and the BBMAC community helps me to get through this crazy time. They also offer great Kickboxing Zoom classes.

Kelly Velinsky: In October 2019 I joined the Fitness Kickboxing class right after my 3 year old started taking their Taekwondo class. My son loved going to class and all the instructors were so great with him. BBMAC changed everything for me, both mentally and physically. Every coach puts so much time and effort helping us train and get better. It’s a wonderful community to be apart of. Even through this pandemic they provided excellent training through zoom and since June a very safe outdoor strength and conditioning classes. They have 12x12 ft boxes marked out for each person in the parking lot, practicing social distance at all times, hand sanitizer stations and required masks when leaving your area. They go above and beyond to provide a safe environment. I feel very comfortable going . I highly recommend BBMAC!

Scot Brown: Not only a Martial Arts gym. I like the Strength and Conditioning class. Great people, not an intimidating gym environment. Very significant 3 class introductory offer. The instructor was helping and easy going. Others in the class we friendly and fun to workout with. Very sanitary environment. All equipment sprayed and wiped down after use.

MJ Sivulich: My son has been attending BBMAC for 3.5 years, and it’s been an amazing experience. But I wanted to leave a review now to particularly focus on COVID. He attends class via Zoom 3 to 6 times a week (in person, small, outdoor classes are also an option) and the quality of these classes has not dropped one bit. The classes focus on fitness and form and the instructors do an amazing job of connecting with my son, even over the computer. During these times, getting enough exercise is tough and virtual can be a drag, but BBMAC has cracked the code and excelled in their TKD offering for kids.

Beltway Martial Arts: what do users think?

Leslie Rubin: I have had the opportunity to train with Nick for more than six years and have been doing jiu jitsu at Beltway Martial Arts for over two years. Nick is a fantastic instructor. He is down-to-earth, patient, and a fantastic martial artist. The atmosphere at Beltway is lively, supportive, and very welcoming. I highly recommend Beltway Martial Arts.

Zen R: I was in town visiting my family getting ready for a tournament which was rescheduled to the next day. I was so excited for the tournament and my blood pressure was getting elevated. I googled local Jujitsu places and I called beltway Jujitsu. The head instructor “Nick” picked up. On the phone he asked me the basic questions for new students which was pretty standard but at the same time. He seemed like a real down to earth person. He didn’t try hard sell or anything just a very down to earth guy. I asked about open mats and with positive energy he invited over. I said I could make it at 7 and he pretty flexible with time. I got there and there where other students there and they had already been rolling. I was welcomed in with a smile by Lynn and the rest of the student that were there. I met nick and he is a extremely friendly guy and very smart. I’ve been practicing Jujitsu for 4 years. He know his stuff and what’s more, I could tell he was matching me. Meaning he was being kind. It was my first time there, and he and his students welcomed me as If I had been for a while. I stayed afterwards for the kick boxing class because I was curious to know more about the school. His guidance was extremely appreciated and he was extremely patient with me even though internally am not patient with myself. He has a very safety oriented approach to training but that does not mean they do not train full contact. He and his students just seem very aware of how to be respectful in full contact and very controlled in they’re movements to both learn themselves but also aid they’re partners. I’ve worked as a trainer for over 4 years but his approach to the variations of bio mechanical movement in exercises far exceed some of the basic personal trainers in the industry. He mats a clean and place looks wonderfully presented with nice well maintained equipment. From what I can tell. He did not just build a school he also built a community for self improvement and guided growth. They have game nights. Would I recommend them. Absolutely! As a school in silver spring I would suggest visiting them or learning from them.

Alan S: Professor Nick is awesome with kids. We have been sending our son the for over a year now. My son was very sensory sensitive (picky about touching things and about who touched him) but now he sparing with the other kids (even new students) just fine. And my son always looks forward to class.

Nick Strocchia: Awesome community, outstanding BJJ gym!!!

Urban Anthology Clothing: I’ve been attending for a little over a year now and there’s no other place I’d rather be. The energy and people are amazing here.

Christopher Gonzales: Great group of folks!

CABRERA JIU JITSU ACADEMY: what do users think?

Jose Ramirez: Joined this gym in November of 2021 a week after moving to Maryland from out of state. Cesar Cabrera welcomed me into his gym with open arms. This is a very welcoming environment and gym culture that Cesar has carefully curated at this jiu jitsu academy. Although I’ve only been training with the people of this gym for a couple of months, I can confidently say that I feel like family here. The class sizes are the right size to ensure you get the attention you need while learning new techniques. I did my research before settling on this gym. Cesar is a Renzo Gracie black belt. His technique is solid and his instruction is clear. I cannot recommend this gym enough! This is a hidden gem you do not want to overlook. Drop in and try a class out so that you can experience how special this place is for yourself!

Henrik Stenval: Very welcoming environment filled with a great group of people. Everyone is dedicated to helping each other learn , train, and get better at the art. Also, Cesar is a Renzo Gracie black belt, so you can be assured you are attending a school with a very credible professor.

Devon Kelly: I used to wrestle in high school and wanted to get back into something. Started training with cesar and it has been awesome. The atmosphere and training partners are great and very welcoming no matter your skill level. I definitely recommend this place On top of all that cesar is a highly intelligent individual who provides good knowledge with showing techniques. Its a blessing to be able to learn from a loving and knowledgeable instructor.

Amanda M: Cabrera is a wonderful, safe and fun Jiu Jitsu academy that my seven year old daughter attends. We, as a family, cannot say enough about the welcoming environment and careful attention given to each student. In this environment, all students and parents are encouraged to look-out for each other, help each other, and to encourage and cheer for each student. We are so happy to be a part of this small welcoming community.

joe davila: I had no martial arts experience at all. I was a small wimpy kid with no confidence. As I began my journey coach Cesar helped build my confidence and was the catalyst for me to grow in my personal and physical life. I’m happy to be a part of the team

Ryan Ingram: I have trained under Professor Cesar Cabrera for many years now. With my job in Personal protection and my military Background I am very skeptical on Training. When I moved to the DC area I tried a few places and then I met Cesar. His Knowledge, method of teaching, professionalism, and skill set stood out head and shoulders above the others. I have really enjoyed training and sharpening my knowledge from the teachings of Cesar. I feel much more prepared and comfortable at work and in life. I would encourage everybody that is thinking of learning self defense visit Cesar. Your life will improve in many ways.

Xavier Agnelli: Highly recommend! I have been studying the martial arts since the age of four, and I can definitively say, as a life long martial artist, with black belts in other styles, that Cesar Cabrera, a first generation Renzo Gracie Jiu Jitsu black belt, will provide you some of the best, most practical and realistic Jiu Jitsu training you could ever hope to receive. It’s really difficult to find a good martial arts instructor, it’s even harder to find a great martial arts instructor. Well, look no further, Cabrera Jiu Jitsu, located in Hyatsville MD is your destination! Trust and put your martial arts journey and training in the hands of Cesar Cabrera, and you will not regret your decision. The journey of 1000 leagues begins with the first step, well, take my advice and take your first step into that Dojo. Caesar Cabrera is open and welcoming to new students, and he is always happy to accept people into his Dojo that have never spent a day training in their lives. This dojo is excellent for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students alike. He even has women’s specific Jiu Jitsu classes as well. You can train in Gi and No-Gi. Cesar Cabrera Jiu Jitsu offers discounts off of his already incredibly affordable tuition costs to First Responders and Military personal. Very rarely can you train directly with a first generation Renzo Gracie black belt. Don’t miss this rare opportunity!

Kelly Elizabeth: While I am just beginning my jiu jitsu journey, I can confidently say that Cesar Cabrera is a phenomenal coach. I’ve been learning from him for about 7 months, and have grown immensely. Cesar’s instruction provides safe and welcoming environment that is conducive to learning and growth- both on an individual and team basis. His attitude and teaching methods create a gym culture that pushes you to work hard while you enjoy class.

Emily Deering: 100% recommend Cabrera BJJ for all ages, body types, and exercise enthusiasts. I’ve been taking group classes with Cesar for about eight months and seen some pretty cool progress even in that short period of time. Cesar’s classes are fun, easy to follow, and never dull. I went from attending classes twice a week to five days a week just because I couldn’t get enough of it. My group classes are composed of all genders, races, ages, and body types. Cesar easily adapts moves to best fit his students and provides personal one-on-one instruction whenever possible. As a small female who frequently jogs in the darker hours, I definitely say Cesar’s training is a must. Cesar takes every opportunity to provide his female students (and anyone interested) in quick/easy self-defense techniques. I am genuinely more confident running on my own since I started training under Cesar. Cabrera BJJ itself is empowering and physically exhausting. As a runner by nature, I’ve seen my endurance, strength, and flexibility all benefit from this style of training/exercise. If you’re looking for a great way to stay in shape and have some fun, you’ve definitely just found your people.

King Khong MMA: what do users think?

Katrina M. Trompeta: Never formally studying a martial arts before, I researched different schools in the DMV area and took a few trial classes at different locations. I can confidently say that King Khong MMA is an excellent school to learn a variety of martial arts—no matter if you have prior experience, or are starting as a beginner in her late 20s like me. Under Master Bao’s guidance and leadership, I look forward to attending class and learning more each time. What makes King Khong MMA different and unique in the best way, in my opinion, is the welcoming and warm environment of coaches and students. I genuinely leave in a much happier mood and am more confident after each class, that feeling hasn’t gone away after 6 months! If you’re thinking about taking a trial class and seeing for yourself how amazing of a school this is, I promise you won’t regret it! 😊

Ben Brennan: You absolutely have to come try a class at King Khong MMA if you are considering joining a gym in the DMV. By reputation and now by my own experience it’s clear why Master Bao is the best Muay Thai instructor in the DC area. I started at 43 years old and I went from being intimidated to obsessed with fighting before my first class was over. There’s not another gym I know of with such a positive vibe, and my friend who is a fighter and trained under him and other coaches says she now refuses to train Muay Thai with anyone else but Master Bao. Get off your butt and try a class, it might very literally change your life!

Animal King: Regarding King Khong MMA and more specifically Muay Thai. My short amount of time I have been with King Khong I have not only learned that Muay Thai is not only a sport but an art, and culture. I have learned so much about the culture of Thailand along with the history and the love for Muay Thai. Both instructors are highly skilled, patient, and organized. I dedicate this review to Bao and Jack who are extremely humble. If you would like to learn to fight, this is the school to go too.

Linda Delcid: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueSo happy to have found this place! Master Bao is amazing! I have four children ages 4-12 and he works great with them all. Very patient and kind, showing great instruction also life lessons this is a great place.

wana manitpisitkul: Before learning Taekwondo, our little girl was painfully shy and bashful. Under master Bao’s guidance, she transformed into a strong and confident little girl. Master Bao is great with kids, kind, and encouraging. If you are looking for a nurturing environment for your little one to grow and become a well-rounded individual, then you have found the right place. I was lucky enough to learn Muay Thai from Master Bao for 2 years. Growing up in Thailand, I know what a real Muay Thai looks like. If you want to learn authentic Muay Thai skills, Master Bao is your guy.

Robert Arenas: Love training here with Bao Khong. I’ve been here for almost a year now and lost a ton of weight under his guidance and encouragement to lead a healthier lifestyle. He always welcomes visitors and potential new students interested in learning either Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai, and even Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Give him a shot he won’t disappoint!

U M: Master Bao provides really clear instructions on very professional level! Whether you are experienced or a beginner, I definitely recommend checking up with King Khong MMA if you are looking for an amazing Muay Thai or Jiu-Jitsu coach.

Nuboxx: what do users think?

Brian Doty: Both the H St and U St locations are top notch! Started going to Nuboxx from ClassPass and instantly got hooked and signed up for my own membership. It’s so much more than a boxing gym, it really this awesome community where the owners and coaches get to know you and are there to help you meet your goals.

Francesca Caal Skonos: I would give Nuboxx 10 stars if Google let me! Incredible family like atmosphere! Q and Moe are amazing coaches and Rachel, the owner, is AMAZING! I have been going to the H Street location weekly for 8 months and I am hooked! 10/10 would recommend!

Nate Wong: Pape, Donte, Will and team are all stars. The coaching is tailored for skill level and each coach ensures that the fundamentals are strong. I especially like having different coaches rotate since act has their own style. Donte helps me with my technique and fast punch combinations, while Pape works cardio and speed with punches. Will ties in footwork and blocks to punching combinations, so throughout a given week I feel like I’m getting a full boxing work out. There’s also a good energy and camaraderie that’s welcoming to everyone no matter if you’ve been boxing for years or it’s your first day. I’ve been coming for the past 3 years coming in with 0 experience. Kudos!

Jim McNamara: I’ve been going to this gym for the past 3 months and it is easily the most fun I’ve had exercising. I had no previous boxing experience and tried it out of curiosity. It has become my favorite hobby, as well as a consistently great workout. The coaches are both patient and motivating. The facilities are very nice. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Shannon Mehaffey: Bachelorette party at nuboxx! We had a bachelorette event at NUBOXX and the bride and bachelorette attendees could not have loved it more. Prior to the boxing class, Rachel and management were very easy to communicate with and happily answered all of my questions regarding booking, cost, other details. The cost was very affordable and more reasonable than other fitness studios in the area I had called for a private class. On the day of, the team at NUBOXX had set up a great table of NUBOXX gear for all of the ladies as well as a gift for the bride. The bride felt so special! The class itself KICKED OUR BUTTS. It was fun, lighthearted, and a great workout. Lauren was our instructor and we Would 10/10 recommend her for your class! She was awesome! Rachel and the team took pictures throughout our class for us and we are so grateful to have the afternoon’s memories documented. NUBOXX partnered with South Block juice co to offer us delish juices at the end of class and we ended up staying for an hour after the class in the lobby just enjoying the juice and good company. It made for a relaxed atmosphere and time to celebrate the bride-to-be! Thanks so much, NUBOXX! We all hope to come back soon.

Monica Puerto: This is my second boxing gym and it has been a great experience. The teachers are friendly and will go at your pace but also challenge you. The studio is really clean, elegant, and has lockers. The receptionist is always so kind and helpful and taught me how to properly wrap my hands.

Fifty/50 Martial Arts Academy: what do users think?

JohnathanBolton: I am visiting from Hawaii and wanted to train at Fifty/50. I came straight from the airport after traveling over 10 hours. The lunchtime class was great. Very friendly students and instructors. You must visit if you are in the DC area.

Jordyn Short: I used to train at Fifty/50 when I lived in the DC area. The instruction was excellent. It’s one of the best BJJ schools in the area. They do a great job teaching fundamentals so you will have a solid base as you progress. The one thing anyone should know going in is it isn’t a school for people who don’t have “thick skin.” Instructors are genuinely encouraging, but they can also be a bit heavy handed/savage if you do something stupid (e.g. unsafe rolling). Ultimately, I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to go in with an open mind, good attitude, and “no quit” mentality.

Ryan Shen: Loves all of my coaches here. Best place for jiu-jitsu and striking in the the area. The one thing that makes me reconsider relocating out of Virginia is this gym. Will keep training here for as long as I can.

Justin Rader: Absolutely phenomenal place to train!! I am a 2X No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt World Champion and have been practicing jiu-jitsu for 21 years, and I visit 50/50 Martial Arts often and continue to learn!! Ryan Hall, Jen Hall, and the entire staff of instructors are some of the best in the world, and not only that, they are fantastic teachers!! I have never once visited and left feeling I took nothing away. I have improved with each visit!! And to top it all off, everyone is super friendly and welcoming, and they truly have a fantastic family environment that helps build and promote all who are there while still keeping that "old school" mentality which is so important!! Clean academy, amazing instructors, fantastic written curriculum to follow, and a great group of people who will make you feel like family!! I could not recommend 50/50 Martial Arts academy enough!! If you live in Virginia, this is 100% the place to train!!

D C: Great place to train. Both bjj and striking program is awesome and taught by great instructors. Everyone is super friendly and the school has a very accommodating schedule

CA Babs911: Great academy! One of the best on the East Coast. My son and I have been training their for for eight months and the training/learning is awesome. The academy is very family oriented and has an outstanding after school program for the kids, plus a summer camp for them as well. Fifty/50 goes above and beyond to ensure all their students are well trained in BJJ by world class professionals!

Lauren Middleton: I trained there back when i lived in the states... its hard being a BJJ black belt and still get expert instruction.. Jen Hall was my instructor back in 2016 and boy do i miss her experience.. living in Switzerland now i find it hard to train at an elite level. Do yourself a favor and join this place it can change/Safe your life...

Relentless MMA & Fitness: what do users think?

Zack H: Where do I start. Dave Carter at Relentless MMA is hands down ( I know coach keep my hands up ) the best coach I have had in my 20 year sports career; soccer, lacrosse. I was a bit nervous going into the gym, not knowing what to expect. As soon as I walked in the door Dave was kind and welcoming and put my nerves at ease. He spoke with me on what I would like to achieve at Relentless MMA, and we came up with a plan on how to accomplish that. That plan was established after Coach Carter spent time, roughly a couple classes closely evaluating skill level and goals. Coach Carter will get the best out of you, he will push you, both mentally and physically. Great part is Coach Carter keeps it fun and fresh and presents all information and concepts in a practical and applicable manner. P.S. If you like to debate superhero powers and characters this is also the place for you. Coach Carter is currently tutoring me in developing my powers of flight and laser beams from my eyes.

Lola M: I cannot say enough about how much I love training at Relentless MMA. This gym truly exceeds expectations in every way. The coaches and everyone who trains here are very dedicated and helpful, which really makes it feel like a team. Coach Carter gives everyone very personalized attention and hones in on your strengths and weaknesses. I learn new techniques every class and continue to work on perfecting techniques from previous classes- all while getting a great workout. I personally practice Muay Thai, boxing, and Kali. I also love the boot camp classes, even at 9AM on Saturdays! Carter is an amazing coach, an honest businessman, and just overall great at what he does. There’s always some type of great deal going on for new people to try it out. You definitely won’t be disappointed!

Cameron Bradford: Fantastic gym and fantastic coach. What makes David Carter a great coach is his love of MMA, in-depth knowledge and great coaching/communication skills. He sets a great tone at his gym where both new comers and very experienced people can attend the same class and be challenged and pushed to their limits. Every class is a ton of fun and an insane workout.

Peter Naudus: I have been going to Relentless MMA for over a month now and have been loving it. Coach Dave is great at explaining things and is able to back up with he teaches with real competition and street experience. The classes are tough but have been a huge motivation for me get in shape! He is also constantly posting videos online which really helps to accelerate learning and for review at home. I recommend Relentless MMA to any interested in learning self-defence and getting in shape in the process :).

Michael Hardin: I have always hated going to the gym to work out, but training Muay Thai at Relentless has been an wake up experience for me. I have no major intentions of fighting matches, but cutting weight and building some muscle tone ARE my goals. Learning to effectively defend myself form harm is just a big plus. I have been training with Coach Carter for just about 8 months now and I have cut 40lbs and my cardio ability has gone through the roof. Coach Carter makes sweating fun. Coach Carter listens to your goals and he will help guide you there. He will work with what ever level you start from, but it is up to you to want to get better, faster, and stronger. Give a class a try and you will truly enjoy the experience. Relentless is NOT a kickboxing aerobic class. It is most definitely an MMA fighting gym.
