Off the Mall Tours: what do users think?

HEATHER MCMANUS: I so loved this tour and the tour guide! We did the Madams of DC tour. Completely fascinating and makes you think about what life was like for women. I highly recommend it.

Jon Psotka: We did the Madams of DC tour. As an area native I had always thought of Federal Triangle as the most boring of neighborhoods, so walking around and learning about its sordid past, right next to the Mall, was an eye-opening experience. Tour guide was fun and knowledgeable. Recommended.

Michael Terracciano: Off The Mall Tours is an informative and entertaining walk through the hidden gems of the DC area. A must for history buffs and lovers of local lore. Highly recommended.

Sex Pistoleros: Great punk tour of DC.

DC Walkabout: what do users think?

Hemwant Persaud: Walkabout is the most healthy and best way to explore Washington DC if you have the luxury of time and money for long hotel accommodation.

Casandra Newman: I have been on free tours like this in some European cities and I prefer them as my experiences have shown me they usually end up being a better tour - this one was perfect! We went on the 5pm Big Five tour, and the guide (Sean) knew how to engage the group (there were about 20 people) and how to keep the story interesting and the tour energetic. The weather was also nice at the start, although we could see rain in the distance, but the guide really stepped it up and timed it so unbelievably perfectly that at our last stop he was standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and the raindrops began to fall. Maybe it was luck, but it was still cool. The stories and facts along the tour kept everyone on their toes and it was well worth it, plus the views around the Tidal Basin are some of the best in DC!

USA Guided Tours: what do users think?

Rebekah Diaz: Did the night tour with Mr Map! It was great to stop at so many places and take photos. I do wish that the tour guide would have come off the bus to tell us about the different landmarks instead of staying on the bus. It was beautiful to see all the monuments lit up—different than the daytime sights. We chose the closed climate controlled instead of open top because it was rather cold at night (in late April!)! Would recommend.

Vanessa Losey: Thanks for making my dad bday that much more memorable! My dad a senior citizen and the pace was perfect for him, including all the bathroom breaks and patience. Thank you Terry for a tour to remember and for signing to my dad happy birthday!!! Memories to last a lifetime. His service dog loved it too!!!

Teresa Simmons: We took the DC tour on Sunday. Nick was our guide. The tour was a great way to see the sights and learn interesting facts. Nick loves his job and it shows! He was funny and informative! Highly recommend Nick and the 6 hour DC day tour. We had and amazing time!!

Suzanne: We took the dusk to dark, open top bus tour, and it was well worth it! The small group allowed for a much more personalized experience. It was obvious to us that our guide, Nick, truly enjoys his job, and that adds to the experience. He was friendly, knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor, all of which added up to a very comfortable, enjoyable tour! He made it feel like we had a long time friend showing us the many sites. Definitely recommend this tour!

Bianca Moskaitis: Nick the @tourgod was one of the most amazing tour guides I’ve ever experienced! His knowledge and charisma made us feel so comfortable. He kept us laughing and on time! He was just a delightful and I’m so glad we got to experience him today! The Mercedes’ sprinter is a beautiful site to see while traveling down Constitution ave and Pennsylvania ave. Such a luxurious site to see🎉🎊 I’m so excited to take another tour with them in the spring! Here are come Loudoun VA wine country 🍷

Tricia Barr: We had a fabulous experience with Alicia as our tour guide and Thomas as our driver. We enjoyed a very informative 6-hour tour with Potomac River cruise. The best compliment was given by my ten year old daughter who is often reluctant to join historical and sight-seeing tours and would far prefer a spring break at a theme park. She said, “I learned so much about my country and I loved learning about all of the hidden meanings of the monuments.” As a parent, I was so happy that she loved the symbolism and significance of all that DC had to offer! Thank you to Alicia for your positive energy and sharing your extensive knowledge of our Nation’s capital!

Shari S: Nick and our driver were awesome. Very knowledgeable. Highly recommend. I took borh the day and the night tour with this company. I highly recommend using this tour company. Parking can be a little difficult and further away then the tour can get you. I am so glad I signed up for these tours. I will make sure to let everyone I know going to any city they service to use them.

Joseph McIntyre: Originally scheduled the daytime tour with the riverboat cruise. Had to change due to flight delays and a mix up with rental cars. They were very accommodating and allowed us to switch the tour last minute to the night tour. Our tour guide, Nick was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Thanks so much for the memories!

Lisa Hayes: Great tour that I would highly recommend. Curtis was our driver and nick was our tour guide. Very knowledgeable and had plenty of time at all the stops. They had just taken down the fences at the capitol so we were able to go on the lawn. We did the night tour and they picked us up at our hotel which was perfect since I had just had some foot surgery and walking was difficult. Would recommend this tour to everyone and Great price.

Paula Jasinski: Our group recently took the Drinking History tour and loved it! We’d been to DC many many times before but Bo told us stories we’d never heard before. He also took us to places that we’d somehow overlooked. Great history, hysterical stories, and a slew of drinks- what more could you ask for? Do yourself a favor and sign up for one of these tours! P

Becky Trullinger: My family took the Arlington Cemetery walking tour last weekend. Bo’s knowledge of it’s history and story telling was fantastic. His Southern charm and sense of humor kept us spellbound and entertained. Just wish we had time to take all of his tours.

Lyndsay Sims: Such a wonderful experience! Bo, was informative, engaging and interactive with our group. I learned a lot of fun and interesting facts about DC. I would highly recommend this tour!

DC by Foot: what do users think?

Sindys Tavarez: My boyfriend and I took two tours in DC, and Colin’s one (Georgetown) was our favorite. He was very knowledgeable and knew his stuff. It was a mix of architecture and history which was perfect for us, because I’m into architecture/arts and my boyfriend is into history/politics. We loved it.

Joseph Neidenbach: My wife and I took the Georgetown by Foot Tour led by Rebecca. Rebecca did a great job. She was knowledgeable, energetic, friendly and a great representative of our nations capital. I highly recommend this tour. The two hour walk was comfortable. We will take one of these tours the next time we are in DC.

David Matsu: When my wife and I visit new cities we like to take the local "Free Walking Tours." We took the National Mall/Tidal Basin tour with Rebecca and were not disappointed. She took us on a three hour walk, in the rain, and told us all about the history of the monuments. She was well informed, able to answers all questions and taught us a lot. I encourage travelers to take advantage and support the "free tours" especially with a guide like Rebecca.

Lani Slonim: This tour is well planned and well timed and was given by a guide who was personable and knew her history. Ingeborg had fun antidotes and stories that enhanced the understanding of the area in an enjoyable way. Thank you for your efforts!

Jenay Rouimi: We did two great Name Your Price Tours while in Washington - 2 adults and (1) 9 year old. We started with the Arlington Cemetery Tour with Colin and it was excellent. This tour does involve a lot of walking but I highly recommend it. While Arlington does have the trams, I think this tour provides a much more up close (and far less crowded) viewing. Colin was extremely knowledgeable, and he kept us all entertained and informed. We also did the Name Your Price Tour of the Monuments by Moonlight with Emilia. It was an unseasonably cold March night, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The monuments were far less crowded then we expected, and the night time view is spectacular and far different from day time. I highly recommend experiencing both ways. Emilia had so much interesting information on the monuments that I have never heard before and I feel much more well rounded and “in the know”.

Elaine Limanek: My friend and I went to the Ghosts of Georgetown tour and we have nothing but good things to say! Our tour guide, Melissa, was charismatic and led us on a thrilling adventure through the streets of Georgetown, where we learned about the history and haunts of the most charming corner of DC. We truly loved every minute and will certainly be back again!

DC Insider Tours: what do users think?

Andrew Studenic: Bo did an Incredible job doing a bike tour of our first time in DC! He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic and made it fun. He was reliable and worth every dollar!!!! If I could give 10 stars I would! This is THE tour to take in DC

Det Ansinn: Bo has amazing historical knowledge of DC and is really entertaining. They use electric bicycles made by Pedego — well maintained, zippy, and the brakes give you confidence. Added bonus? on a hot DC summer day, the breeze on an electric bike keeps you cool.

Pakeezha: The night tour on the electrical bikes was a blast!!! The tour guide was very clear with instructions and never a dull moment! The views were the best. I’ve lived here all my life and learned and saw things I had never before! The best part were the bikes! Anyone can do it! And hardly any man power needed. Wrap up though because it can get chilly when you are going 30 mph!!!

Tisha Ooppapan: A “Wheelie” Extraordinary Tour The DC After Hours Electric Bike Tour with Bo and Becca is a MUST GO! The electric bikes are a quick, safe, and fun way to visit all the attractive sites as well as the hidden gems of DC. I have loved adventuring DC for the past 7 years, yet Bo and Becca were still able to share a ton of new fun facts and an admirable amount of knowledge with me. If you need an exhilarating and educational trip, book with DC Insider Tours.

Troy Rippere: We did the DC After Hours electric bike tour and this was by far the absolutely best way to see all of the major sites at night. In this 2 hour tour, we were able to visit the White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, MLK Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Supreme Court, and the Capitol with enough time at each spot for pictures. The electric bikes were also a blast to ride (up to 20-25 mph) and are actually fully electric, instead of just pedal-assist like other tours. On our tour, there were just 6 guests plus the tour guide. The small group was intimate and made it really easy to hear everything the tour guide said. Our particular guide was Matt and he was super friendly and seemed really knowledgeable about the different sites. All in all I had a great time and look forward to trying their other tours on subsequent trips to DC.

Custom Tours of DC - Private Tour Agency: what do users think?

Sandee Guzman: I recently organized a group activity for my work colleagues. We are a group from New Jersey and we got together for the first time in 2 years. We have about 50 people combined from the US to Europe and Brazil. Because of our time restraint, I arranged a 4 our tour of the DC area with all the important landmarks. I reached out to Custom Tours and connected with Adam and he accommodated my group. We were connected with Debbie our tour guide and I cannot say enough about how fantastic she was. She is the sweetest person, funny, thorough in her explanations of the landmarks and made sure we saw all the sites despite the time restrictions we had. It was the perfect combination of riding on a bus and walking. My colleagues were so please with the tour especially the ones that were in DC for the first time. I am grateful that this tour worked out and thankful for Debbie. Please ask for her for her if you have a trip to DC for work or pleasure. They really cater to large groups!

Pat Flora: The tour starts the Navy memorial, and our tour guide Britney started as soon as all were there....."early", which makes 100% sense, you never see common sense applied anymore however Britney was all over it. With early start Britney took her time and was informative on all points of interest along the way. You could tell she enjoyed her job and the challenge of being tested. The monuments truly have a different appearance at night. I was honored to be able to share these sites and educational memories with my family. Thank you Britney for your insight and vast knowledge of DC.

Michelle Hall: We had a great private night tour for our family group of 35. Our guide Clift was more than accommodating, helpful, nice, and knowledgeable. Would recommend this tour for anyone.

Ashley Iversen: Had a conference in DC and wanted a fun private tour of all the great memorials with our team and Custom Tours of DC fully came through. Easy booking, great price and had a fabulous and funny tour guide, Larry! Everyone left the tour very satisfied and learned a bunch!

Mackenzie Bordelon: I reached out to Custom Tours of DC for a corporate event with tons of specifics and every single request was made without hesitation. Our group of 30 was taken on an executive bus for 90 minutes for a quick version of their tour. We we able to bring wine on board and enjoy the sights for our night tour. They were very accommodating picking us up at our dinner spot and dropping us off at our hotel. Adam was the coordinator for the entire event and he made the process seamless! 10/10 recommend for any groups coming to the DC area.

Anthony Cheng: We had driver Leon, and guide Monti. Both were courteous and helpful, particularly as one in our party needed wheelchair assistance for longer walks. We enjoyed the dusk to night tour of national monuments, took lots of photos. Monti particularly knowledgeable with historical facts, shared generously with us. In 2+ hrs we saw all the major monuments and memorialized with photos. Worth the $$ as walking to all these would have been logistically impossible. I highly recommend this company and its service.

Shirley: Charles and Dave were in charge of our tour on a very hot day in DC. They made every effort and did a wonderful job to make our trip enjoyable and succeeded. Even though some of the things we wanted to see were closed they gave us alternative choices that were wonderful. Would highly recommend them.

Annie Ellis: Everything we hoped for and more! It was so wonderful to connect with Adam to help plan 3 days of 3-4 hour morning tours to maximize our time in DC with my elderly parents in the August heat. We were able to comfortably fit in everything we needed to see and enjoyed visiting the sites at our own pace after being dropped off at the closest spots to make things easier for my parents. We learned so much and had amazing conversations with our extremely knowledgeable and insightful tour guides Bob and Rebecca. Our driver was fantastic and attentive. My folks really enjoyed the VIP treatment. Thank you all for the first-rate experience and beautiful memories!

Andy Nichols: We were finally able to have our Washington DC trip after COVID canceled our trip in March 2020. Adam Plescia was great to work with as we put our trip on hold until March 2021. We were two families looking to get a great tour with all the history and we were not disappointed! Our DC tour was AMAZING! Bob was our tour guide and he was awesome! COVID-19 restrictions didn’t keep us from seeing and learning so much about our nation’s capitol! I would recommend Custom Tours of DC to any family!

DC Military Tours: what do users think?

Thankful Mom: We took a private tour today of Arlington National Cemetery with Navy veteran Tom Schultz of DC Military Tours. WOW. What we saw, did, and learned with Tom in 3 1/2 hours we NEVER could’ve done on our own. Tom and this tour were phenomenal. It was myself, my husband, and our teen son, who stayed engaged and loved it. HIGHLY recommend DC Military Tours. We will absolutely use Tom when we bring our son back to do DC. Thank you for an amazing and unforgettable afternoon.

Holly White: We have toured Washing DC in the past with a major tour company, and I can say we had a 110% better experience with DC Military Tours. Mr. Shultz is a fabulous tour guide. We enjoyed two different tour packages through him. He genuinely cares about what you wish to see and do. Mr. Schultz’s knowledge base is remarkable!

Charlie Salgado: Tom was absolutely amazing, completely catered/scheduled our tour based on what we were interested in seeing and weather conditions and had some awesome recommendations along the way. Tom kept it very interesting for the kids by keeping them engaged with age appropriate questions, stories, and interesting facts. He was able to answer all of our completely random questions along the way. Tom’s passion for American History is evident and made it fun for all. Tom also had many awesome suggestions for photo ops along the way, and was able to capture some amazing family pictures for us. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Maura Flint: Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueHad the opportunity to have Tom as our guide through Alexandria. His narrative and command of facts as well as his engaging story telling made for a wonderful experience. Definitely would take another tour soon.Services: Private tours, Group tours

Brittany Chapman: We reviewed a couple companies and settled on this one due to their flexible options and best pricing. Tom (our guide) was AWESOME! We weren’t sure what to expect but he was great- the tours he provided were top notch every single place we decided to go. He was fun to talk to and knew all the insider scoop stuff to give us the best experience in a short amount of time. Not only did he exceed expectations but he even took the time to help us plan our following day’s activities and give us tips and suggestions. We met us at Arlington, provided ice cold bottled water while he drove us to our destinations in his super clean and comfortable SUV with ease. GET this tour, we did the 6 hour and it was the highlight of our time in DC. You WONT regret it! Thanks so much!

Krista Stark: Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, QualityTom is a fantastic storyteller and really paints the mental picture of the historical events he brings to life on his tours.

DC Design Tours: what do users think?

Kristin Roberts: I took a Cleveland Park Cherry Blossom Neighborhood Tour a couple of days ago and loved it! I learned so much about the National Cathedral grounds and the Cleveland Park neighborhood, even though I lived in the District for over 10 years. There were also great connections to other areas of DC on the tour that really shows the “small town” nature of DC. On top of that, Carolyn, our guide, was friendly and welcoming making sure to engage everyone in our group in conversation and asking all of our questions! I wish I had had time to take more of their tours while I was visiting, but will definitely sign up for another next time I’m in town!

aphrodite fletcher: Beautiful walking tour of the cherry blossoms. Unfortunately we weren’t able to the splendor due to the bad weather a few days prior to the the tour. Our guide was very informative!

ANNE Goshen: Carolyn was a wonderful guide for our family group of seven. We would definitely use her on our next trip to DC. And I’ve already recommended her to several friends. Thanks for perfect experience.

Cheri Wyse: This tour is a must! Carolyn was warm and knowledgeable. The time flew by as we immersed ourselves in the history she was sharing.

Jill Smith: My husband and I are relatively new DC locals and thought a tour would be an excellent way to learn more about our new community and we were not disappointed. We had an amazing time with Sam yesterday, as our guide on the White House & Penn Ave Architecture Tour. He was informative, engaging and great fun to spend time with. An architecture tour with the rich historical context is an interesting and illuminating way to learn about DC in that it was a designed city. I will appreciate the buildings and the area in a new way and have fun stories to share with friends. Having previously enjoyed an exceptional tour with Carolyn (Dupont Circle and Embassy Row), I would enthusiastically recommend DC Design Tours to architecture and history buffs alike.

Stephen Mannino: Our family thoroughly enjoyed a DC Design Tours walking tour of historic Georgetown with our private tour guide, Sam. Sam was informative, witty, and extremely engaging over the course of our 2-hr tour. We have two teens, including one who is not easily entertained or amused and he was capable of captivating that kid for the duration. We highly recommend DC Design Tours, especially Sam!

Josh Torres: The tour was amazing. Carolyn was nice and knowledgeable. She was sincere about the good and bad of DC, very descriptive and had great suggestions. Took time to hear our story and made personalized suggestions on other tours we should take with them. We definitely will be back to take more tours with Carolyn.

Meghan Cocci: We took the evening walking tour of monuments and memorials with DC Design Tours. Carolyn was a pleasure to work with - quick to respond to inquiries and very easy to book. Sam, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and charismatic. He kept our group of 9 (that included 5 kids) engaged throughout the tour with interesting anecdotes and stories along the way. Definitely would book again!

Mel Korobkin: Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, QualityWe had a wonderful experience with DC Design Tours. Our team of real estate agents went on this tour to learn a little history and architecture about DC. We truly learned so much and had so much fun. The bus was gorgeous and our guide was so knowledgeable and personable. Highly recommend!!Services: Private tours, City tours, Group tours

Mangia DC Food Tours: what do users think?

Mo Wakefield: We went on the Georgetown Foodie Tour yesterday and it was great. Marsha was an excellent tour guide and was very knowledgeable about Georgetown history and the food we tried. I’ve been on other food tours where you have tastes/samples at a number of places. This one was different because we only went to 4 places -but had a full serving of the food we were tasting. It was wonderful really getting to experience the food - and ended up needed a bag to take leftovers!! We’ll definitely do a Mangia Tour again- can’t wait for the Italian tour!

Karen McIntosh: Love love loved our Mangia DC Food Tour! Really enjoyed the restaurant choices and the stories behind them. The food was plentiful and delicious. McKendrey was a fantastic tour guide - fun, friendly, knowledgeable! Highly recommend!

Dawn Matthews: We had the best time today, touring Georgetown’s gorgeous streets with our incredibly personable and knowledgeable hosts McEndrey and Dave! The peroski and veggie taco were the bomb! Loved seeing Julia Child’s home in this gorgeous area of DC.

Heather Wasson: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ValueWe did the Georgetown Foodie tour. I really liked the smaller group size. It was very informative and Shannon, the tour guide, kept us engaged. It was the perfect balance of learning, walking, socializing, and eating. The food choices were so yummy! We’re local (from MD) and still learned so much. Highly recommended!

Butch Gaddy: We had a great time with Marsha. She’s a very knowledgeable guide. The food was good and so many points of Georgetown history and interest. Great way to spend an afternoon!

J Shedd: Fun facts and tasty afternoon exploring Georgetown, McKendree was friendly and is clearly a big fan of her city. Come hungry, you gets lots of food (and good vegetarian options). Thumbs up!

Washington Monument: what do users think?

Erika Gardner: This monument is impressive and amazing to visit the grounds are really clean, a lot security around. Great place to walk around, ride a bike, relax, take pictures and/or have lunch from the food trucks. The structure is magnificent piece of Art, the monument is more beautiful in person, I definitely recommend it to anyone. The Washington Monument is an obelisk within the National Mall in Washington, D.C., built to commemorate George Washington, once commander-in-chief of the Continental Army (1775–1784) in the American Revolutionary War and the first President of the United States (1789–1797).

Amol More: This Monument is way bigger in actual than expected. Amazing place to visit in DC and mark it in your wish list. I visited during Cherry Blossom 🌸 festival and enjoyed kite festival as well. Couldn’t go at the top as it needs to have tickets in advanced. This is located in between Capitol and Lincoln Memorial. Flags around the monument make it more beautiful. Just visit, enjoy and make memories.

Ryan: The day we went was a bit of a bad day, but I assume the view would be amazing on a better day. I’m glad they reopened the elevator to the top, because they have an interesting little museum up there too. It surprised me when I approached it in-person, it’s much bigger when you’re up close. I had previously only seen it from afar or online.

John Myers: Dude, so good! Been a long time since I went to the top. Well worth it. Kind of exciting. Get tix at recreation.gov. look at least a few days ahead. Right now only 6 tickets at a time. Great place to make memories.

Daniel Steiminger: Enjoy the view, enjoy the elevator ride down, and good luck in getting your tickets. Wait early in the morning at the Washington Monument Lodge and cross your fingers and your toes you get there early enough to get tickets. I recommend 6:30 am if you are getting same day tickets.

Kristen Alger: You need to get tickets online. When I went to DC they were not giving tickets out. You had to get them online and they were NOT available for that day. Meaning...if you want to go, get your tickets online and in advance. Since this is new (Covid), I went through security alone, went up the elevator with 5 people and we were the only ones at the top! Great views! Plan ahead and ENJOY!

Dragan Ange: Take the elevator up there to enjoy the beautiful view. There is some info about the Washington Monument: Built in the shape of an Egyptian obelisk, evoking the timelessness of ancient civilizations, the Washington Monument embodies the awe, respect, and gratitude the nation felt for its most essential Founding Father. When completed, the Washington Monument was the tallest building in the world at 555 feet, 5-1/8 inches. Construction of the Washington Monument began in 1848 with enslaved Africans as laborers, according to several sources. Construction stopped in 1854 due to lack of funds, and then resumed from 1877 until its completion in 1888.

Mendy Henderson: If you are flying in from I know the south. You can sit on the left side of the plane and see everything. Like the Lincoln Memorial. Washington Memorial. The white house and so much more. I really enjoyed myself here.

Ashok Patel: This 555 ft marble monument was built to honor the first President of USA, George Washington. The political and military leadership of George Washington was indispensable. This is built in the shape of Egyptian obelisk. This was the tallest building in the world when it was completed. It is still world’s tallest stone structure. You need a timed ticket of an elevator for the observation deck at 500 ft to get a bird’s eye view of the capital. You have to go through the security screening. The Washington Monument is located near the west end of the National Mall, with spectacular views of the National Mall and other important memorials. This Monument has been the witness to the history that shaped our nation. Must visit if you are in Washington DC and if you can manage to get the ticket.
