City Segway Tours: what do users think?

Ian Campbell: This is a MUST if you are in the DC area. The segways are super fun and a great way to explore the sights! Our tour guide Joe made this trip extra memorable, he was super knowledgeable, down to earth and fun! Learned a lot of neat things about the city and got to see all the main sights! Joe also gave some great recommendations of things to do after the tour which led to other great experiences, can't express enough how awesome this was!

Allinton Alexander: This place was absolutely amazing, the instructor we had his name was Sam. Sam was great very attentive spoke clearly waited for us and was very knowledgeable of the memorials around the National Mall. I've been on many Segway tours around the country and this one though it was not the best, mainly because I live in DC and seen The Monuments many times. It was definitely very rememberable. It kind of sucks because of the location of the Segway store it's a great location but like DC parking is tough so that's always an issue. The store was clean the lady up front was very friendly she actually gave me a pair of sun shades because I forgot mine at the house. Much appreciated. For someone who has never been on a Subway or never experience DC on a Segway, I will definitely recommend this place because it beats walking.

Karen Colclasure: Over the 150 trips I have taken, other than snowmobiling this is my favorite thing to do ! I will always always always try to find a Segway company in any town that I go to. This is the best way to tour a city. And it was absolutely fabulous we now we'll to tour our capital city this way. Thank you thank you thank you !

Anup Rao: The staffs were friendly and our guide Rob was amazing and took care of us.Safety first and we had a great segway tour around the beautiful monuments of DC.

Cindy Harper: The tour was a blast. We did the 6PM sunset tour and I have to say this was the highlight of our trip to DC. Anna was our guide and she was super knowledgeable and funny! Yes, she definitely made the tour a 5 star! We will go with City Segway Tours next time in DC or any city we visit that they are located.

Chris VanBelle: What a fun and informational tour. I would have loved to dine a larger tour and learned more. Wear comfy shoes, and be ready to go if it rains. It was an awesome tour!!

Imran Khanji: Did the segwey tour a few years ago and now the bike tour. Highly recommend bike tour with Tom. Bike tour allows you to go to more places and get off in more places because segweys have more restrictions. Also, highly recommend doing the tour at night.

J. S.: It was our first time riding on segways. Our guide was very good in teaching us how to safely ride them. She also was very fun to communicate with. Overall the tour was very informative and interesting. In three hours we were able to see a lot of historical buildings and monuments

Kyle Hayes: So much fun will do again great guide he was very knowledgeable and funny

Emily Thompson: This was an absolutely fantastic experience! Could not recommend it enough. Not only was it a great way to see a large portion of the sites, far faster than walking it all, our guide was wonderful and his commentary gave interesting context and added backstory to the sites we saw. We did the night tour and it was perfect -- cooler temperatures in the evening, sunset and later, the nightime uplighting on the memorials, was amazing! We had plenty of time at each memorial to explore and take pictures. Overall we had blast on the Segways (it was our first time riding them, but it was so easy and so fun!) We will definitely be looking to do Segway tours in other cities we visit!

Capital Segway Tours: what do users think?

Josiah Dahlstrom: These guys were awesome. Great training in the Segways and the tour was awesome. I’ve been to DC 4 different times but haven’t done a tour. This was the way to do it. Knowledgeable tour guides. Lots to see and great spots to snap pics. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. And Erica was out tour guide. She was fabulous!

Sachin Sujir: One of the best tours I have ever been on. Thanks to the staffs and tour guide at Capital Segway tours for making my trip memorable and fun. Kind and great staffs and tour guides. They were patient during the training and the tour which made me feel comfortable and get trained faster. Special mentions to the guides are they were really friendly and polite. 10/10 for their service. I would definitely recommend!!

Tiffany Curtiss: LOVED IT! Tour guides, Alex & John, were fun and informative! They were patient in making sure All riders were comfortable on their Segway and were very attentive during the tour for any mishaps.MUST DO!

Jenica Anderson: We had such a blast on this tour! The earpieces really kept us on the Segway riding more than stopping and talking. Great pace and our tour guide was informative and funny! 10/10 would recommend. So worth it and fun.

Rebekah Diaz: Really enjoyed this tour! We went on several tours while in DC, but this one was the best! Roury and Elijah were our tour guides and they were absolutely hilarious. They provided earbuds for us to be able to hear them while they were talking and moving. We saw a lot of the monuments and traveled quite the distance to see a lot in DC. We arrived after our “arrive 30 minutes early time” because we did not see that on our confirmation. Oops. They were still accommodating to us & caught us up quick. We had already been on segways so the learning curve was easier. Great way to see DC! Thanks guys.

Sam for Short: So much fun!!!! Best way to see DC. Erica was great- very knowledgeable. They also gave us the tutorials and made us comfortable on the Segways before our departure. Best tour of DC I’ve ever been on

johanna santiago: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ValueHad so much fun and instructors take their time to teach you how to ride. I thought it would be electric and I had to do nothing but steer and stand, lol. However, after a couple minutes you get the hang of it. Great experience, lots of fun and great opportunities for great photos! Will do each time I visit DC!

Rita Jensen: This was our 2nd group visit to Capital Segway Tour. Our guide Justin was AMAZING. We were treated like family. We were able to design the your to our needs. The unseasonably cold evening tour was nonetheless enjoyable. Thanks again Justin!

Dave Doering: We were in town for lax tournament and needed something to do with boys one afternoon when one of the parents thought of a Segway tour of the monuments downtown... it was AWESOME! From the reservation process (better than others we had called) to our tour guide Ryan, who was very patient with the antics of teenage boys (and their parents). Highly recommend and would do it again if given the opportunity.

Keyia Makel: Omg!!! Our Tour guides Roy and Justin where BEYOND AWESOME, from being very welcoming, patient during train, dedicated to safety and always there for little mistake made while riding. The tour is very informative and funny due to Roy's great sense of humor. He also made sure to converse and take every one's pic. It was truly an experience and I will bee back..SOON

Unlimited Biking: what do users think?

Margaret Iannone: We took a family trip to DC in hopes to pack in all we could over Memorial Day weekend. Unlimited Biking was highly recommended and our amazing guide, Joe, did not disappoint. He tailored the tour to what our group was looking for - learning about the monuments, but having fun while doing it. Joe was super knowledgeable and kept us moving - he was the perfect fit for our group! If you are visiting DC, I highly recommend this bike tour - seeing the monuments, especially at night, was incredible. Ask for Joe - he’s the best!

Rebecca Michaele Lynch: I highly highly recommend this experience! I only had a day to take in DC and this was so perfect. I kept saying to myself I couldn’t believe it was only $54 for what I was getting. I wish I packed a snack (banana or nuts) and was happy I brought a small backpack to carry extra water and my wallet (the pouch can really only fit a phone and keys). Those were my two biggest takeaways. I also recommend making sure small children can take direction quickly and can be ready to handle street intersections. I’d absolutely do this again and am so grateful I found it! All staff were so nice and accommodating.

Maggie Blackwood: This was the best part of our trip to DC by far!! We did the night tour as a family of 5. Our tour guide James was super friendly, accommodating and phenomenal at providing a great overview of the history with interesting tid bits for adults and kids alike. It was a great way to see the National Mall in the daylight through to everything lit up! We would highly recommend to others.

Stephanie Olebara: I did the 9 am cherry blossom tour and it was great! Our tour guide Judy was very knowledgeable about the city and was also very friendly. She always made sure the group was together and safe as well. Even as a DMV native, I learned and saw a lot of new things in the city thanks to Judy! It wasn’t too crowded in the city and the weather was beautiful. The tour was thorough and punctual as well. Definitely recommend this experience!

Michele Perrell: This was our first excursion when we arrived in DC. We are so happy that we chose this first. It ended up being the highlight of our trip. John was an excellent tour guide. He is really knows his city’s history. He got us up close to many memorials and monuments. We learned so much about each site! Doing this left our other days for museums and such. Highly recommend you do this if it is your first visit to DC.

Heidi Collins: Great experience. Saw a lot around the Mall in a short amount of time and enjoyed the Segway challenge! Make sure you wear good shoes for standing. Bill, our tour guide was excellent at giving fun details and pointing out interesting buildings on Pennsylvania Ave. Did not get close up of Jefferson or FDR memorial.

Alex Nee: Beth did an excellent job with our tour of 12, including 5 children. She was patient and clear about stop times, informative with destinations and gave nice local recommendations. We had a great time riding around and seeing the sites.

Vanessa Albanesi: I joined the Memorial & Monuments 3-hour bike tour and I had the best time! That's the best way to explore DC, we took our time to visits the touristic spot whilst our super nice and prepared guide Nadia was gaving us info and local insights about the places. Amazing experience!! Highly recommended!

Dena Hayes: This was a great tour! We picked the 2 hour cherry blossom tour. I wanted to make sure my 11 year old could keep up, plus I definitely wanted to see the cherry blossoms. We got checked in quickly and on our way. Alex was our guide, and she was amazing! So friendly, accommodating, and lots of knowledge. My son asked when we come back to do the tour again, and have Alex as our guide! Highly recommend

Nichole James: We did the Segway tour with Joe and it was a great experience. He was very knowledgeable and fun. He made sure everyone was safe on the segways! We saw many different monuments and all around the mall area. We went back and visited the suggested museums. Very glad we did this tour.

Fat Tire Tours: what do users think?

Jacquelyn Disharoon: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ValueWe had an AWESOME experienceHOPE was our guide and she was WICKED SMAAAAHRT!!!!

Rita Priest: Don’t use them. I booked a day in advance. Received a text to call. When I called them they said it would would be intermittently raining and perhaps we should reschedule. We were only in DC for 1 day so that was not an option so we decided we would touch base in the morning. I woke up at 6 and it was pouring so I called a new left a message to cancel. I called again at 930 and spoke with Anna who refused to honor what was discussed the prior day. Not only was she completely rude and spoke over me the entire time, more importantly she refused to honor the cancellation as discussed the prior day. There are so many bike tours in DC do yourself a favor and utilize a company that honors your conversation and doesn’t charge you $80 to bike in torrential downpour. See screenshot for current weather conditions.

CitySights DC: what do users think?

Laurel Crespo: I was super excited to go to DC. All the history and sights. Between the awful traffic and the horrible parking. Now I wish I had just gone on an awesome cruise for the amount of money I spent in DC. I can check DV off the bucket list- but wouldn’t go back

Gabby Moreno: THIS IS THE WORST HOP ON HOP OFF EXPERIENCE EVER, NEVER AGAIN! When we purchased the tickets outside the museums the sales-man explained the buses were recurrent every 20 min which is NOT the case, we waited for one of the buses over 30 minutes, the yellow line is a joke! The "guided" night tours are a joke as well, everyone we encountered that works for the company is extremely rude and did not make an effort to compensate for the bad service. We had TWO buses break down on us in two different days, how is someone able to visit a city and actually see everything that's worth seeing if every time you get on the bus it breaks down? Again, WORST $170 EVER SPENT. UPDATE: OUR DRIVER GOT LOST, tried to drive back to the correct stop and went by some really short bridges TWICE one with no warning and the second time he "beeped" to let us know "we might get our heads chopped off"

Jennifer Carter: I have never been more appalled in my entire life when it comes to tour guides and the treatment we had to endure from tourguide JOHN. John was our 2nd tour guide of the day. The first tour guide was pleasant, the bus was on time, and we had a wonderful time. We got off at our stop (which they didn't drop us off in the front, we had to walk two blocks), and had a nice time at the attraction. We had to walk back to the City Sights stop (meanwhile Big Bus DC bus stop was right in front of the attraction); and wait for 45 minutes for John and City Sights to pull up. On a 95 degree day, we thought we would have to wait the promised 20 minutes; but as we saw the other tour bus (Big Bus go by 3 times, we still were waiting on John). John then started to state MULTIPLE INCORRECT facts about DC. Including slamming and being very political about Muriel Bowser (the mayor) talking about her neglecting her children (which she doesn't even have). Then he started explaining about the African American museum and the how the shape is after Queen Nefertiti-we googled that information and it was completely false. Because we were running SUPER late, because John mis-managed his time regarding being on time for the tour; my friend asked how much longer until we get back. John YELLED AT HER ON THE MICROPHONE in front of the whole bus and completely embarrassed her. He told her to shut up and sit down and went on and on bashing her and our entire group. Then he said that she was "ratchet and ghetto". After we got off the bus, he started yelling at everyone from the top of the bus (hence the photos). He might have been having a mental breakdown right before our eyes; I've never been more embarrassed and upset on a tour bus in my life. I've been to Greece, Barcelona, and some of the most beautiful places in this world. And John left the WORST taste of DC in my mind. DO NOT USE THIS TOUR COMPANY. Everyone on every other tour bus that was going by looked way happier than everyone on our sad bus. Thanks a lot John. Dispicable behavior.

Margaret Matthews: Terrible customer service. Took forever to exchange our vouchers for tickets (which were two feet long recycled Macy's receipts instead of actual tickets)- plus they never even asked to see our tickets each time we hopped on the bus! Apparently anyone can just hop on?? Once on the bus, the speakers didn't work on the entire right side of the bus, so we couldn't hear anything the tour guide was saying. He "pointed out" the stops, but no one knew when they could get off at each stop as the bus usually kept on driving. The route changes based on construction and bus routes in the city, but unless you ride the whole thing, you don't know which stops are available that day since they don't update their maps or cross off the ones that are unavailable that day. They overbooked the night tour by over 50 people and informed us "we had more nights to do it and to come back." It was the only night we had available to do the night tour we paid for, so we were lucky to be one of the last few who got a seat on the last bus. There was no guide for the night tour, so we had to listen to the recorded tour and it was very uninformative. Tour was supposed to start at 6:30 pm but we didn't leave until almost 8. Big bus tours had several busses and seemed much more organized for their tours... If I do this again I would choose big bus.

Sherri Miller: DO NOT USE this bus tour!!! The worst every....completely ruined our day. My friend and I took this tour bus on 1 Aug. We were informed this was a guided tour with a hop on hop off option. We selected the red and blue/purple line. We picked it up at Union Station DC. Our trip to the White House was as advertised. A knowledgeable tour guide provided a fun cometary to the sites we were seeing. We got off at a stop near the White House and returned approximately 20 min later. We were told the buses ran every 15 to 20 min. We stood....in the hot sun....for a half and hour. Finally a bus arrived. However it was only for the yellow line. We waited another 15 -20 minutes and two buses finally arrived. However they were both for the yellow line. There were a number of us waiting and we spoke to one of drivers to inform him we had been waiting on a red line bus for over 45 minutes. After approximately 10 minutes the driver we had complained to showed up with a bus for the red line. I was a little confused how he had switched bus and returned so quickly....however we were relieved to be getting on a bus to continue our day. However the bus we no longer had a tour guide and the plug in headphone option was not working either. We got off at the Lincoln Memorial to catch the blue/purple line to Arlington. We waited again for well over the 15 to 20 minutes for a bus to show. When one did it to did not include a guided tour of any kind. We were taken to Arlington and told buses were running approximately every 30 minutes. After visiting Arlington we waited for approximately 30 minutes and saw no bus. We lost faith one would show we decided to walk back across the bridge to the Lincoln Memorial. No, I am not kidding. As we walked....in the heat and sun.....we never saw a CitySights bus. At the Lincoln Memorial we were able to catch a bus to return us to Union Station. Again, this bus had no guided tour. We filed a formal complaint at the number on the map and also at the stand were we brought our tickets. We wanted a refund. Instead they opened a "file" to determine if we could get a refund, which we have not yet received. We were also ordered a free ticket to ride the next day. After telling them what a horrible day we had on their bus the best they would offer was to do it again....are you kidding me. I will never take this bus tour again and it is no my mission to save others from taking it too. My friend and I were grateful for one thing. We were grateful we did not have our kids with us. We felt so sorry for those we shared our rides with that had children who were not only disappointed about no guided tour and the broken headphone jacks but were exposed to ridiculous long waits in the sun and heat. It is also important to note that during our many wait times we saw (with jealousy) other tour buses stop a number of times. In fact Old Town Trolly was everywhere and better yet they are covered transportation. PLEASE DO NOT use CitySights DC....this bus tour needs to be shut down!!
Response: Your feedback is important and helpful. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We sincerely apologize that the tours did not meet your expectations. Once again the information you provided about our tours has been sent to our management as feedback for improvement. Feel free to contact us directly to discuss your concern.

Stephanie Stewart: We had 2 days in DC and picked the absolute worse hop on hop off bus system! They say they come around to each stop every 20 to 30 minutes but we waited at least twice as long which made it to where we didn't get to see everything we had planned. Most of the tour guides on there were good and all friendly but it really put a big damper on our trip the fact that we spent half of our days just waiting on the buses. I'll never use this company again. Old Town Trolley and Big Bus buses stopped at the stops probably 3 to 4 times if not more each time we waited for City Sights. We paid almost $400 For 4 adults and 2 children and it was a waste if money.

Cindi Resta: I did not want to give it one star either! I bought tickets on my I phone, which they would not take off the phone when we boarded the bus. We had to go to union station to get vouchers printed before we could proceed on the tour. The buses do NOT come every 20 minutes. The third (and last) bus we boarded #71448 was the worst travel experience ever! No guide, the ear phones were not in sync with the sights and no stops were announced. When we came downstairs on the bus, the driver shouted at us "NOT A STOP, NOT A STOP". And when we inquired how were we to know, she continued yelling that's what the earphones were for, and why weren't we listening! It was horrible. We exited as soon as possible and had to walk about a half mile. Do not use this tour company!!!

Rick White: Waited more than an hour at one of their "hop on" stops. No bus. Others had been waiting more than 1.5 hours. No bus in either direction as this is where two routes meet. Phoning them was a dead end. Never an answer if the call even connected which it did not several times. Even if a bus would show, it would take all day to get back to Union Station. There was a bike race Sunday which had just about all of DC blocked off so the bus could not go anywhere but circles. The bus management had no clue where to go and the race was scheduled for months. While they gave us credit for the day, we were still stuck with the parking fee at Union Station for nothing. If "no star" were a rating, they would get it. The employees were fine.

Kimberly Wilder: This was absolutely a horrible experience! Took my 11 Girl Scouts to DC. The bus was 55 min late every time while the other buses had several stopping at the drop off and pick up locations! When I called the office we were told 15 min which turned Into 55 min. The driver and another employee were yelling at each other in a fight! A lady tour guide was down right rude... Several bus drivers complain about the company. We missed the Archieves due to them being so late.. mind you we paid for a tour that they would not allow me to reset! Will never use them again! I gave 1 star because 0 was not a option!

Tom Edgar: Hopefully you are reading reviews before purchasing. Had we, it would have stopped us from making an awful decision. Bought the tickets through CitySIghts (don't make the same mistake). Tickets were printed wrong so we had trouble accessing one site. They didn't explain how to use the tickets we received at the kiosk vs the passes we had printed at home. The site depends on Big Bus which has there own issues but CitySights is garbage. If you want to tour DC, most say Old Town Trolley is the best. Look there first.
