Historic America: what do users think?

Joseph Eakle: Visited Washington DC with a family group of 9. We had the pleasure of spending 6 hours with Aaron for 2 different tours. We did a nighttime Whitehouse Neighborhood/Monument tour and a day time monument tour. We never would have covered as much ground and learned as much as we did without Aaron. He kept everyone engaged, from the adults to my 4 year old daughter. I can’t say enough about him and the tours. They were the highlight of our trip to DC!
Response: Thank you for the kind words. It was a pleasure hosting you all - so glad you had a great trip!

Evelyn Avanesian: Aaron is a spectacular guide. Fun, funny, and so knowledgeable. He kept our 8th graders engaged and well organized. Would definitely do a trip with him again! Even having lived in DC for over a decade, I saw and learned things I never knew.
Response: Thank you Evelyn! The group was lovely and we look forward to our next meeting - and a sunny day at Fort McHenry.

Tarm: Aaron took us on a 5 day trip through Washington D.C with around 25 kids. He was able to keep everyone engaged, and was able to avoid all the lines. Aaron is a great guy, super funny and very entertaining. Super knowledgeable, and had everything ready for us. Made sure we were well informed, and cared for each one of us. Our tour was awesome, visited many spots, and made sure we had the best experience. Would definitely recommend Aaron to anyone who wants a fun, entertaining and great trip!
Response: We had a blast taking Rhoades around the nation’s capital! We hope you enjoyed the steady diet of dad jokes as well.

Jessica Harrington: My husband and I attended the Sunrise Cherry Blossom Tour today and it was the perfect way to start our Sunday morning. If you want an inspiring and educational experience complete with stunning views WITHOUT the crowd and traffic, then this is it.
Response: Early bird gets the best photos! Thanks for touring with us!

Gabrielle Chambliss: Aaron was a blast to have on our 6th grade trip to Washington. He was very knowledgeable and interacted with the kids. His planning of our 4 days made everything so much easier and we saw a lot! Will definitely book with him again!
Response: Thanks Gabrielle. We look forward to seeing Regents Academy again!

Each 1 Teach 1 Foundation: Our tour guide Aaron was with us for 4 days and was phenomenal! Not only was he knowledgeable and very personable but he also was patient with our group of 61 and flexible throughout the tours. We will be rebooking him in a different city in the near future!
Response: Big groups, small groups, we love them all. Really excited to work with you all again!

Marina Mauletkali: My daughter and I took the Music & Murals tour and were not disappointed! We loved it! We learned so much about DC's musical history! Our guide Aaron kept us interested and entertained the entire time. I highly recommend this tour. I'm excited to book more tours with Historic America in the future!
Response: Thank you Marina. It was lovely to meet you and your daughter and we look forward to seeing you again on tour!

Nathan Ketchen: Aaron's work as our guide was MOST impressive. He has back up plans to his back up plans ready to go. He never shows any sign of frustration or disappointment. He was always just the person we needed for every piece of our visit to DC. He is friendly, punctual, includes the group in his teaching times, knows the best souvenir shops, and is just FUN. He himself was a highlight. He does his homework and knows the stories to tell at each sight. I also appreciated when we would come across another group with a colleague how he would interact with the colleague. He worked very hard for us.
Response: Thank you Nathan. Regents was a wonderful group and we were blessed with the opportunity to work with you!

Megan Miller: When I was planning our family trip to Washington DC, I researched tour guides. I interviewed five and picked Aaron. He accompanied us for 2 half days visiting the sites we had identified as important. He customized his approach and content for our group, our ages, and our interests. He never ran out of content and his delivery was warm, engaging, and so interesting. He shares information through telling stories and his level of knowledge is astounding. Our time with him thoroughly enriched our trip and I could not recommend him any more highly than I am. He is a 10 and will exceed your expectations.
Response: Thank you so much Megan! Truly our pleasure!

Ashley Alderfer: I have had the pleasure of experiencing 2 tours with Historic America, and both were fantastic! Aaron is a smart, engaging guide with a vast knowledge of history and a passion for his craft. He is a master story teller, and goes above and beyond to provide a rich and immersive experience. Living in Washington, it is easy to become complacent about the history that surrounds you, but Aaron is able to bring the city to life, crafting an experience that connects you with the history of the place but is also personal and intimate. I’d recommend his tour to anyone visiting Washington looking for an enriching gateway not just to the city, but to our national history.
Response: Ashley, thank you for your support and kind words about Historic America. We love touring with you.

Old Town Trolley Tours Washington DC: what do users think?

Natalia Mednikov: This tour was amazing! The guide was full of knowledge. Don’t miss out. A 1,5 hour tour that goes by fast. We stopped off to see some very impressive and important monuments. I cannot say enough about the beautiful and well planned tour. It was a perfect experience. All the staff who work for this company are very friendly.
Response: Natalia It's always great to hear from our guests. Thank you for sharing your review of Old Town Trolley Tours Washington DC. We hope to see you back again in the future.

Quynh Tran: Mike G. (From Boston) was the best tour guide I’ve ever had. He was very knowledgeable and knew everything. I he was like a human google of Washington DC (or history in general)! It was a little chilly but it was a great start to DC and knowing the general areas before the rest of your trip. Our guide was very accommodating and left no man behind. Highly recommend!
Response: Quynh We are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your day with Old Town Trolley Tours Washington DC. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us.

Connor Roberts: An excellent tour of the most important areas of DC for a fair price. The trolley ride was comfortable and the staff at the store and the tour guide were friendly and very knowledgeable. The tour we took was about 2 hours long including a half hour break at the Lincoln Memorial. If you're in DC I highly recommend checking this out, it's definitely worth it.
Response: Connor Thank so much for taking the time to write such a nice review about Old Town Trolley Tours Washington DC and we are so pleased that you had such a good time. We look forward to having you come back and visiting us again!

Miranda Oliver: "Lucky" was our driver. She was amazing! Fitting that we had a female driver during women's history month. So knowledgable and fun. She handled other driver's rudeness with grace and integrity. It truly takes a talent to be able to drive through busy city streets, conduct an informative tour and keep everyone safe. Would do this tour again and recommend to all!
Response: Miranda Thank you for making us part of your vacation. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback about Old Town Trolley Tours Washington DC and being so open with us.

M Lopez: Visiting DC and decided to take a tour to get to see all the sights without all the walking, $45 per adult for a 90 minute tour which included a 30 minute stop at the lincoln memorial, yay! Our guide was very knowledgeable and funny, I unfortunately can't remember his name 😕. Highly recommend Old Town Trolley Tours, I have used them in other cities and they never disappoint The only down side is that they discontinued the hop on hop off service in DC, hopefully they'll start it again in the future, but the 30+ stop was great.
Response: M It’s always great for our team to hear from our guests. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review of your experience on Old Town Trolley Tours Washington DC. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Laura Oliver: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueMoonlight trolley tour is fabulous! If you are short on time in DC and want to see a lot and hear a lot about the city, this is your best bet! We booked our school tour through Abe in group sales who made everything so easy! Hollywood was our tour guide and was awesome! Definitely the highlight of our visit!
Response: Laura It is always wonderful to hear from our guests and their experiences with our tours and attractions. Thank you for sharing your thoughts aboutOld Town Trolley Tours Washington DC.

Susie Anson: Hey **Mr. History" , best driver ever. So beautiful by night. And re-learning great American history while seeing gorgeous memorial at night ... Not to be missed Fall is the best to walk around and tour. 😉
Response: Susie We appreciate your positive feedback about your experience on Old Town Trolley Tours Washington DC. We take pride in serving our customers and hope to see you again at Old Town Trolley Tours Washington DCsoon!

Slem: We ran up as a night time tour was starting. We didn't have advanced tickets because we weren't sure if we'd make it in time. They let us buy tickets and hop on a bus very quickly. Our tour guide, Honest Abe, was great. Loved his commentary and Playlist.
Response: Slem Love hearing from our guests like you! Thank you for the review of Old Town Trolley Tours Washington DC! We are glad you had a fun time.

Talina McKinley: My experience with this trolley tour was not good...I booked online, when I got to the welcome center the check in attendant was not friendly, he looked high and felt like I bothered him...it was not a hop on/hop off...I paid for Arlington Cemetery and had to find my own way there...the 90 minutes ride felt like an hour of seeing nothing, drove past everything so fast you could barely get a pic...I had to go to the White House on my own... couldn't see the Martin Luther King Monument...spent 30 minutes at Lincoln Memorial
Response: We are sorry you were disappointed in our tour. We offer a satisfaction guarantee located on the customer service page of our website.

Donna Hensley: I wish there were 5 more stars I could give Old Town Trolley! The personalized narration by knowledgeable, friendly drivers are always the rule.
Response: Donna We love hearing about your experience with Old Town Trolley Tours Washington DC and hope you will share it with your friends and family back home!

KB Tours: what do users think?

Alana Brooks: Mr. Kenny is a great tour guide. He tells you the history of the area, and weaves in the Black history of everything he shows you. We went on the tour while there was major road closures for an event, and Mr. Kenny still got us where we needed to go. This tour is unique because you go through historically Black neighborhoods that most tours don’t take you to. I definitely recommend supporting this Black owned business.

Nitza Negron: Great tour! You get picked up in a very nice Mercedes Van with AC, Kenny takes you around, gives you history and also let’s you get out at a few places to take pics like Lincoln and MLK Memorial. We ended the tour with tickets to the African American Museum which was amazing!

Darlene Jefferson: Kenny is a Smart & Knowledgeable Guide of DC History. Tour Starts On Time! Yay! I've been on this tour twice & enjoy it very Much! Sites such as Franklin Douglas' home, MLK Memorial, sites around the City teaches everyone Our History in America! And the Final treat are tickets to the Beautiful African American Museum afterwards. Highly recommend this Experience!

Susan Marshall: Absolutely the best! Mr. Kenny was very professional and knowledgeable! I would do this tour again! I recommend anyone visiting DC to check out KB TOURS!

Nancy Nyberg: What a blast! Wanted to see the National Museum of African American History and Culture and no tickets for our time in DC. KB tours offers a wonderful tour of DC, by coach, that starts at the Naval Museum and ends at the AA History Museum. Also includes stops at the Lincoln Memorial, MLK memorial, Fredrick Douglass’ house (“...has done an amazing job...”), Civil War memorial. Kenny, the owner and guide, is very knowledgeable, funny and insightful. A life-long resident of DC, he knows and loves his city and his country. Definitely recommend seeing DC Kenny’s way.

Monica Williams: KB Tours is the best. They are passionate about the history of Washington, D.C. and know hidden facts about the monuments that you will not know visiting on your own. Jamal was our tour guide and he provided excellent service. Mr. Kenny Burns thank you!

Verlean Martin: This tour was absolutely wonderful. Jamal was SO knowledgeable. We were provided with so much history....not just African American History, but he explained our significance in American History hitting on the smallest of details. This tour was well worth the money and it was a Blessing to have Jamal as our guide. Take advantage of this opportunity when you're here.

DA Howard: I highly recommend this this tour. We took the day tour which culminated with convenient entry to the Smithsonian African American Museum. Eat first and bring a snack to eat along on the tour bus ( cold bottled water is provided on the tour) because you need every minute to enjoy the museum. The tour was on a comfortable, air-conditioned mini bus. Kenny was very knowledgeable and we learned new things the entire time. We stopped at the Capitol, Lincoln memorial, Mlk memorial, Frederick Douglass house, African American Civil War memorial, and White House photo stop. Soon the Mary McCleod Bethune House will be added when it reopens (instead of the white house)- we're sorry we missed that treat. There will be a fair amount of walking at each stop and in the museum - bring comfortable shoes

Jandie's Channel: My family hired KBTours for our family reunion. I have lived in the Washington D.C. area for 15 years but KBTours showed us and taught us about some many historical locations that I had never even heard of and certainly had never been to. Kenny has an encyclopedia in his head when it comes to Washington D.C. and the rich history that is here. When I had to add a lot more family members to my tour with short notice, Kenny graciously and very quickly procured an addition tour bus for us at a very reasonable price. A lot of my family said that the tour was one of the best parts of our family reunion that year. I would not hesitate to hire KBTours again. All of the drivers and tour guides were excellent!!

Eve Byford-Peterson: The Carson, Lewis Rousseau Family reunion utilized KB Tours on June 22nd and were extremely pleased with our tour. Ms. Sandra, our tour guide, was the greatest and so knowledgeable. We found the whole trip to be an uplifting, educational and enjoyable experience. Recommend it highly.

USA Guided Tours: what do users think?

Aaron Renshaw: We took the nighttime DC monument tour in a covered top Sprinter van. Our guide was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the city. We were visiting in early January so it was super cold and had recently snowed so our guide kept us warm and comfortable also by strategically parking the van or moving it for us to save steps after walking the monuments. Overall, fun and memorable. I'd highly recommend this tour!
Response: Thanks for sharing your great experience! Find us on Instagram & think of us if you ever come back or go to NYC - we offer tours there too!

Rebekah Diaz: Did the night tour with Mr Map! It was great to stop at so many places and take photos. I do wish that the tour guide would have come off the bus to tell us about the different landmarks instead of staying on the bus. It was beautiful to see all the monuments lit up—different than the daytime sights. We chose the closed climate controlled instead of open top because it was rather cold at night (in late April!)! Would recommend.

Vanessa Losey: Thanks for making my dad bday that much more memorable! My dad a senior citizen and the pace was perfect for him, including all the bathroom breaks and patience. Thank you Terry for a tour to remember and for signing to my dad happy birthday!!! Memories to last a lifetime. His service dog loved it too!!!

Teresa Simmons: We took the DC tour on Sunday. Nick was our guide. The tour was a great way to see the sights and learn interesting facts. Nick loves his job and it shows! He was funny and informative! Highly recommend Nick and the 6 hour DC day tour. We had and amazing time!!

Suzanne: We took the dusk to dark, open top bus tour, and it was well worth it! The small group allowed for a much more personalized experience. It was obvious to us that our guide, Nick, truly enjoys his job, and that adds to the experience. He was friendly, knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor, all of which added up to a very comfortable, enjoyable tour! He made it feel like we had a long time friend showing us the many sites. Definitely recommend this tour!
Response: Thanks for traveling with us Share you memories with us on Instagram @usaguidedtours!

Bianca Moskaitis: Nick the @tourgod was one of the most amazing tour guides I’ve ever experienced! His knowledge and charisma made us feel so comfortable. He kept us laughing and on time! He was just a delightful and I’m so glad we got to experience him today! The Mercedes’ sprinter is a beautiful site to see while traveling down Constitution ave and Pennsylvania ave. Such a luxurious site to see🎉🎊 I’m so excited to take another tour with them in the spring! Here are come Loudoun VA wine country 🍷

Tricia Barr: We had a fabulous experience with Alicia as our tour guide and Thomas as our driver. We enjoyed a very informative 6-hour tour with Potomac River cruise. The best compliment was given by my ten year old daughter who is often reluctant to join historical and sight-seeing tours and would far prefer a spring break at a theme park. She said, “I learned so much about my country and I loved learning about all of the hidden meanings of the monuments.” As a parent, I was so happy that she loved the symbolism and significance of all that DC had to offer! Thank you to Alicia for your positive energy and sharing your extensive knowledge of our Nation’s capital!

Shari S: Nick and our driver were awesome. Very knowledgeable. Highly recommend. I took borh the day and the night tour with this company. I highly recommend using this tour company. Parking can be a little difficult and further away then the tour can get you. I am so glad I signed up for these tours. I will make sure to let everyone I know going to any city they service to use them.
Response: We're so glad you had a great time! Share your photos with us on instagram!

Joseph McIntyre: Originally scheduled the daytime tour with the riverboat cruise. Had to change due to flight delays and a mix up with rental cars. They were very accommodating and allowed us to switch the tour last minute to the night tour. Our tour guide, Nick was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Thanks so much for the memories!
Response: Thanks for the positive feedback. We understand that the basis of travel is to embrace the unexpected. Because of this, we are always willing to reschedule. Also, if you are worried that your trip has too many variables, we offer trip insurance to cancel up to the minute before the tour for a full refund (minus the insurance cost).

Lisa Hayes: Great tour that I would highly recommend. Curtis was our driver and nick was our tour guide. Very knowledgeable and had plenty of time at all the stops. They had just taken down the fences at the capitol so we were able to go on the lawn. We did the night tour and they picked us up at our hotel which was perfect since I had just had some foot surgery and walking was difficult. Would recommend this tour to everyone and Great price.

Babylon Tours DC: what do users think?

Ha Ta: Britney and Toi were awesome, fun, exciting and very extremely knowledgeable! Definitely recommend it. A day filled with fun and fun facts and hiatorical stories.

Jill Willcox: We had the pleasure of meeting Bess, as our guide for DC National Mall and Memorials. It was not perfect weather, but we did not care as Bess was engaging, funny, and filled with exciting stories we would never have known if we did not take the tour. It's one thing to walk around by yourself, but you don't get all the backstories that make these tours fantastic. We went and saw the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, the WW2 Memorial, the Korean Memorial, and the Martin Luther King Memorial. We loved the tour so much that we booked another for the American History tour with Bess. Thanks so much for having such fantastic individuals teaching us more than we could have learned by ourselves in beautiful Washington, DC.

Nathan Hartman: Ask for Donna for a private tour of the National Archives and Supreme Court. She is extraordinarily informed about the history and meaning of our nation’s treasures. She was phenomenal with the kids and brought the stories to life.

dianne chiogna: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueRebecca was Amazing!! She was so engaging and knowledgeable it made our tour an adventure in history. Tour of the National Archives is a must and if at all possible request Rebecca!!!!

Akiva Leyton: Could not have had a better experience in DC. Our tour guide was courteous, knowledgeable, and very friendly. Can't recommend this tour group enough!

Reuben Kats: Great experience going through the historic landmarks. I will definitely use this company in the future!

Paula Jasinski: Our group recently took the Drinking History tour and loved it! We’d been to DC many many times before but Bo told us stories we’d never heard before. He also took us to places that we’d somehow overlooked. Great history, hysterical stories, and a slew of drinks- what more could you ask for? Do yourself a favor and sign up for one of these tours! P

Becky Trullinger: My family took the Arlington Cemetery walking tour last weekend. Bo’s knowledge of it’s history and story telling was fantastic. His Southern charm and sense of humor kept us spellbound and entertained. Just wish we had time to take all of his tours.

Lyndsay Sims: Such a wonderful experience! Bo, was informative, engaging and interactive with our group. I learned a lot of fun and interesting facts about DC. I would highly recommend this tour!

Andrea Janko: I've never felt so American. Highly recommend.

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History: what do users think?

Ian Bozung: The museum is a gem! It's 2 floors, tons of fun interactive exhibits, and it includes over 145 million specimens (99% of which are not visible). There's tons of halls, including mammals, dinosaurs, skeletons, ancient Egypt, human origins, pandemics, and more. Of course there's also the iconic elephant statues in the atrium. I would recommend 2-3 hours, maybe even 4 if you're going thoroughly to see everything. I would highly recommend if you're bored in DC and want something to do.

Luke Chang: Free museum. Great for kids. Lots of interesting exhibits. I went during Cherry Blossom 🌸 peak week so it was pretty crowded on a Saturday. I spent 3+ hours exploring. There’s 3 floors. Definitely recommend. There something for everyone.

Ashok Patel: This is one of the most visited and most popular museums in the world and it’s free (of course from our tax money). The museum has the largest natural history collection (145 million specimens) in the world. It is really interesting, informative and fun to delve into the story of our planet from the beginning and how the life evolved over a period of time. There are excellent exhibits for kids as well for all ages of people. Unfortunately, there is no public parking facility there. If you are lucky, you may get the metered parking otherwise you have to park in the commercial parking garages nearby. There is nice cafeteria with great food in the museum. There are lots of food trucks outside the museum serving variety of food. I loved the exhibit of minerals and gems. There are so amazing pieces of gems and rocks, I bet you have never seen before. There is so much to see that you can’t finish in one day. Some of the exhibits we even didn’t explore due to time constraints. But we will definitely go back and enjoy the same or remaining exhibits. It was busy but not too crowded, we didn’t have to fight for the space. May be it was a weekday, so it wasn’t too bad. This is a must see attraction in Washington DC.

Jennifer Crawford: We had a great time! There was no wait to get in, even with security screenings at the door. It was quite crowded both days we visited, but we were still able to see every exhibit in a reasonable amount of time. Masks are required throughout the building, but that was no issue for us. My 7 and 10yo LOVED all the exhibits and were blown away every time we rounded a corner. I highly recommend it if you're in DC!

Sassy Sauce: Great museum for kids and adults. We went on the weekend and it was packed with people but we were able to move around with moderate congestion. The gift store was reasonable and there was some unique items available. For the little ones, I would bring a stroller if you’re up to pushing it because their legs will get tired. There were places to sit but they weren’t plentiful. The food court was open but we didn’t purchase anything. You can bring your own goods and water inside the museum. There is plenty to see and read for everyone. Highly recommend for families with small kids (probably 2 and up)

Ken Miyakawa: For me was the most impressive collections of specimens from around the world I was able to see I can spend the whole day in here and not be able to watch everything. The dinosaurs bones was my favorite part this place is definitely for the whole family and I will strongly recommend to visit it! This will be in my top five favorite museums for sure. The only thing is they close at 5:30 pm I wish they close later because I will need at least Two full days to cover the whole place.

China Reese: This place is immense. Spent six hours there and still didn't get to see everything. Word to the wise? Plan ahead and tackle the exhibits you want to see the most first. The gemstone exhibit, located on the third floor, features some of the rarest jewelry in the world, including the Hope Diamond. The animal exhibit, located on the second floor, was my favorite as it featured life sized realistic replicas of wild animals. There is a cafe but forewarning, the prices are theme park rates. Food and drinks are not allowed with the exception of water and there is a security point check similar to an airport TSA check to ensure the safety of the public and artifacts. It was incredibly packed when we went so just keep that in mind if and when you decide to go. 10/10

bEp pen: Great museum, fun and informative for all ages, children and adults alike. So much to see. Give yourself a few hours to take in how much there is here. In addition to the Hope Diamond, there is an extensive gem and minerals exhibit. There is something for everyones interest. Best of all, the admission is free! We had planned on seeing both the Natural History museum and the American History Museums of the Smithsonian, but had time for just one that day. Will go back and do the same to properly explore just as we did at the Natural History Museum. It is centrally located from the other Smithsonian museums and very close walk to Smithsonian Metro Station.

Lu: First time in D.C. and loved visiting this museum. Spent 3hrs here enjoying the exhibits. Nice that it’s free so anyone can go to enjoy learning something new. Gift shop is a must too! If you do make the trip I’d say bring a snack or lunch if you don’t feel like buying food there. Unfortunately the Space and air museum was closed due to construction when I was there.

Tri Vo: No joke, one of the best museum I've visited period. There's a little something for everyone. The infos were great, the artifacts cool and beautiful. The whole place is well designed so one can just keep walking and walking without thinking that they are leaving one exhibit to another. But yeah, this place is amazing and would definitely recommend to anyone.

National Museum of African American History and Culture: what do users think?

Dani Isthebest: The amount of History is amazing. Did you know the tickets come out the first Wednesday of the month before? I figured this out Thursday and could only book a Sunday @1030a. It's about a 2' drive or on the train from DE to DC. We actually lucked up and found free parking but I did see meters other places so check the parking situation. The Museum is gorgeous. To get to the main exhibit is was about a 25 minute wait to get in there. But once in, Wow! Two hours is really not enough time to see it all but it can be tiresome to some with all the walking. This place is also handicap accessible and can provide elevators if needed. Eat before you go or they have a Cafe but it closes around 3p. You must be vaccinated to go into the cafe. NO vaccination required to visit the exhibits.

Nabou Fall: Powerful, emotional, rich, fair, i learnt so much & i really appreciated the respect for gender diversity. Women are given their place in the history of African Americans as well as the diaspora. Must see. But you need to book even if it's free.
Response: Dear Nabou, Thank you for visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture and providing your feedback. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the museum and passion for African American history. We thank you for sharing your personal experience visiting the museum and hope you plan to return! Thank you for visiting and submitting a review. Sincerely, Visitor and Guest Services National Museum of African American History and Culture

Janine Howard: It was very very informative, sad at first and then mad as you go along. It's a kuseum that needs to be visited more than once and I can't wait to go back!
Response: Thank you for visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture and providing your feedback. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the museum, and we thank you for providing your personal experience and tips for visiting the museum. We are glad you plan to return! Shaniece Heath: 1st time visiting the museum and I highly recommend viewing the Concourse exhibit if you do nothing else. The concourse is where the Emmitt Till exhibit is located and that did have the longest wait time, but more than worth it. There were so many beautiful artifacts and amazing visuals to go along with some of the images and artifacts. The 1st floor when you walk in was also overwhelming hearing the audio of the slaves saying they rather jump ship than travel to an unknown world without their families!

Tamekia Buckner: Was amazing! 2nd floor was closed, so cannot wait until we return. Got free tickets 1 month in advance from their website.
Response: Dear Tamekia, Thank you for letting us know about your recent experience with NMAAHC. The Museum remains extremely popular, and we are limiting the number of people who can enter the museum for the safety of all visitors and staff. Passes do go very quickly but a limited number of same-day passes are available each day the Museum is open starting at 8:15AM EST. Go to NMAAHC.si.edu/visit to view the availability of passes. All passes are distributed online, there will be no passes available at the Museum. We are glad you've had a great experience with the National Museum of African American History and Culture and plan to return soon! Sincerely, Visitor and Guest Services National Museum of African American History and Culture

Corey Trusty: It was a good trip to the museum. It was fast and easy to get access. I was able to get tickets the day of for the time I wanted. The museum exhibits were done very well and tastefully. The museum is absolutely huge and I would for shire come back. The only issue is the parking in the National Mall is terrible. But overall good experience. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes because you will for sure be getting your steps in and it is a must go!!!

Melvin Thomas: A great museum. Lots of history. Some of the images and artifacts cause sadness realizing the time span of the atrocities, some of them surprisingly recent. Some exhibits also celebrate black contributions, mostly in sports and entertainment. Maybe they will add more black inventors and contributors to the sciences.
Response: Dear Melvin, Thank you for visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture and providing your feedback. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the museum and passion for African American history. We thank you for sharing your personal experience visiting the museum and hope you plan to return! Thank you for visiting and submitting a review. Sincerely, Visitor and Guest Services National Museum of African American History and Culture

Monique Bonner: I really enjoyed this museum. We easily spent 3 hours in there and didn't see the whole thing. I will definitely be going again but not with a 3 year next time. 🙃
Response: Dear Monique, Thank you for visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture and providing your feedback. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the museum and passion for African American history. We thank you for sharing your personal experience visiting the museum and hope you plan to return! Thank you for visiting and submitting a review. Sincerely, Visitor and Guest Services National Museum of African American History and Culture

Valencia Brown: This museum totally captures the horrific moments in time that African Americans endored. Its about time there is a historic National museum that acknowledges that that these events in American history did indeed occur, and the role Americans had in the slave trade. The overcoming of oppression, justice and equality is still a fight, however the advances and contributions made in history from African Americans are undeniable. This museum encompass all of this and more! Highly recommend attending. Best of all, its free!
Response: Dear Valencia, Thank you for visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture and providing your feedback. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the museum and passion for African American history. We thank you for sharing your personal experience visiting the museum and hope you plan to return! Thank you for visiting and submitting a review. Sincerely, Visitor and Guest Services National Museum of African American History and Culture

Erny Prada: Very humbling experience about the history of the world and the African American suffering. There's also a lot of good reminders about the power of the people, united, to make a positive change, and the neverending battle for equality. One day is not enough to visit this museum. Thanks to those that put this all together, everyone needs to see it.
Response: Dear Erny, Thank you for visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture and providing your feedback. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the museum and passion for African American history. We thank you for sharing your personal experience visiting the museum and hope you plan to return! Thank you for visiting and submitting a review. Sincerely, Visitor and Guest Services National Museum of African American History and Culture

Capital Buddy Tours: what do users think?

Lily Cates: All white people visits DC should take this tour. I mean… everyone should but white people especially need to come to Anacostia and go for a tour with Don to just listen and take in the stories we all need to hear. Don is an expert historian and a deeply authentic storyteller. I have done a lot of tours and back in the day lots of school trips around DC and this tour is absolutely hands down the best way I’ve ever seen DC. We did the Black History Night Tour and it was legit, it was fun, it was important. Well worth the money, without a doubt.

Drk J: Our segway tour was cancelled due to the rain on Saturday, whereas my friends and I was seeking out other options. We stumble upon Capital Buddy Tours and decided to book the night tour within an hour before the available tour time. Mr. Ron called and informed us that he would pick us up since we were a small group. The tour is one that should not be missed while in the DC area. He knows his stuff and he took us to several spots outside of his normal night tour. We had plenty of time to take pictures and time to use the restrooms. The next time that I'm in the DC area, I will definitely check out his other tours.

Nina Hicks: Learned a lot about the History of Washington.
Response: Thank you

Off the Mall Tours: what do users think?

Adria Crannell: Katie and off the mall tours are great! I've taken 2 tours now - madams of DC and Harlem Renaissance. Katie does extensive research and shares all kinds of fun trivia and facts you would not otherwise learn in your standard tour. It's great for locals to get to learn about the history of their own neighborhoods and also for visitors to learn something new about the city. Will definitely tour with OTM again!

Amaury Laporte: I did all of the main tours (Madams of DC, Historic Alleyways, The Wives Who Won the Cold War, Harlem Renaissance in DC, the History of Black Georgetown, District of Punk and—last but not least—French Connections), and they're all great. Off the Mall Tours covers lesser-known aspects of our capital's history, and I learned a whole lot. Highly recommended!

HEATHER MCMANUS: I so loved this tour and the tour guide! We did the Madams of DC tour. Completely fascinating and makes you think about what life was like for women. I highly recommend it.

Jon Psotka: We did the Madams of DC tour. As an area native I had always thought of Federal Triangle as the most boring of neighborhoods, so walking around and learning about its sordid past, right next to the Mall, was an eye-opening experience. Tour guide was fun and knowledgeable. Recommended.

Jasmine Plummer: Great tours from a knowledgable and friendly host! Katie's tours are a magical learning experience. DC has a very rich history far beyond the White House, the Capitol, and the monuments, and Off the Mall Tours offers you the chance to see and feel it!

Michael Terracciano: Off The Mall Tours is an informative and entertaining walk through the hidden gems of the DC area. A must for history buffs and lovers of local lore. Highly recommended.

Sex Pistoleros: Great punk tour of DC.

Smithsonian National Museum of American History: what do users think?

M J: This was my favorite museum I've seen so far of the Smithsonian Museums in DC. Expect to spend 2 1/2-4 hours here. Note: The Museum is free but parking is EXTREMELY limited since it is near the National Mall and next door to the Museum of Natural History (I recommend visiting both of these in the same day if you can). There is no parking garage and while there is street parking, it is VERY, VERY limited and it is only allowed for 2 hours (not enough time to see everything). Use public transportation if possible. Ok- so we visited 6/2022 and the famous Wizard of Oz Ruby Red slippers are not currently on display BUT THERE IS SO MUCH ELSE TO SEE. The ACTUAL Flag that inspired Francis Scott Key to write "The Star Spangled Banner" is on display. The actual hat President Lincoln wore to the Ford's Theater the night he was assassinated was on display. The Presidential Ladies Fashion exhibit was my favorite- it is a 100+ year tradition for a First Lady to donate one of her gowns to the Smithsonian Museum. The American Red Cross Ambulance was really neat. The actual counter and chairs from Woolworth's Diner from the Greensboro Civil Rights Sit-In is on display. The Currency exhibit is exceptional. It was fun to see Julia Child's Kitchen. The Transportation Through the Ages exhibit has a lot of amazing vehicles of all kinds, and plenty of trains for my "Sheldon-like" train-loving husband. There are lots of interactive exhibits for kids and teens. I highly recommend this museum.

Jeffery Montgomery: The overall appearance of this museum is amazing! So clean, staff is courteous, the exhibits look terrific. The only downside is some of the information. I know this isn't supposed to be a 300 level history course, but some of the facts were more whitewashed than truth. Calling a slave an "indentured servant"? Not mentioning much of the racism and other acts (trail of tears, wounded knee), it seemed like it wanted to ignore the truth. I get not being too graphic, but at least mention it. Good for young kids I guess.

Frenite: Incredible museum that features nearly all facets that encompasses American history. There is so much to see and explore that you can’t even do it all in a single day. This museum includes the history of mechanical devises, food culture, transportation history, pop culture, presidential history, and so much more. This museum really has it all. Since it is owned by the Smithsonian, admission is at no charge! It is very clean, accessible, well maintained, and certainly informative and educational for people of all ages. This is a museum that everyone should experience in their lifetime and I would fully recommend going here.

Gen Bowerbank: This museum had pretty fun things to see, but my kids walked through it very quickly.. It doesn't have very many interactive exhibits, and they only last so long looking only. We loved seeing Lincoln's hat, although it is very faded. Sadly the ruby slippers have lost their luster as well. I loved seeing part of the Berlin wall. The transportation part was very cool as well.

Klau Pao: This museum is one of the greatest Smithsonian museums! It has some of the most historical artifacts such as the Greensboro 4 Woolworth counter and so much more. But, we didn't get to see Lincoln's top hat, some parts were under construction but I still loved the museum. Remember you need plenty of time for there is much to see and read.

Paul: This is great museum to visit with the family. The layout is great to appreciate all facets of American culture. Highly recommended!! There’s also an area for kids to explore and learn. In addition, they have a cafeteria so you don’t need to leave far for food. A lot of seating as well to sit down and rest. Must visit.

Kelsey Carreiro: Galleries included early and modern displays: Modes of Transportation-Food-Inventions-Military-Government- Really cool to see these objects up close to get a real sense of the times....(Went during the week--was moderately busy) ***Smithsonian Museum of American History*** Great artifacts and displays.... I thought there would be more of a variety ( in the fossil section) and more ancient artifacts.....although it was a Sunday and VERY busy....couldn't spend much time viewing each artifact on display. Try going during the week so you have more space to take your time while viewing ***Smithsonian museum of Natural History***

Ben Matthews: This place should be called The Museum of American Everything. A super eclectic collection of what makes America special - from the Star Spangled Banner, to Judy Garland’s ruby red slippers. Be aware that many exhibitions are currently closed for renovation - so if you’re going for anything in particular, do check their website first. Unexpected highlights for me were the transportation exhibits, as well as the Presidential and First Lady sections.

Luke Chang: Free museum. Lots of interesting history, baseball, war, food, ruby red slippers, currency, etc. If you love history, you’ll be here at least half the day. I enjoyed this museum quite a bit. Second time visiting, first time was 10+ years ago. 3 floors of history. Easy access from the metro. Short walk to museum from metro.

MILKOS D SOSA: This is one of my favorite places in Washington DC. If you are an American and have not visited this museum, you have a debt to cover. If you are a visitor in the US and have not visit this museum, you will lose the opportunity to see almost the entire history of this Nation in a single building. The museum is very attractive and dynamic because the rooms show history through the different elements that make up the country. You can see the history of the US through politics, culture, transportation, numismatics, technology, wars, houses, etc. There are three floors full of information about how our nation was founded and how it has developed and grown. My favorite rooms are the Transportation room, the Presidents room and the First Ladies room. I think that the most important and solemn place in the museum is the Start Spangler Banner Room. The flag that inspired the National Anthem is preserved there. It is a unique space that will make you feel great emotion and pride. Without a doubt, this museum is a place that you cannot exclude from your list if you visit DC.

Signature Tours Of DC: what do users think?

Lissa H: Tyrone and Hunter were great tour guides, very friendly and helpful. Tyrone was knowledgeable and interjected a lot of humor into the tour. We had plenty of time to get off the bus and take pictures of the different memorial sights. The water that was available when we got back on the bus was very welcome. I highly recommend taking this trip, it was enjoyable and we learned a lot. Very much worth the cost.

Debbie DelValle: First night in DC, decided to try a monuments tour under the stars. Signature Tours offered hotel pick up and drop off which was an added bonus. Thanks to the very knowledgeable and personable Sally and our excellent driver Chris, the 3 hour tour was time very well spent. I would highly recommend this tour.

Andrew Harmon (Werd69): This tour was on point. We met the bus at 800 Pennsylvania Ave NW no problem. We were loaded on a big tour bus. Our tour guide name was Charles. He was fantastic. He knew so much, I thought he was a retired teacher. We got to see quite a few monuments. When they say 3 hours they mean 3 hours. We got our monies worth and then some. Definitely do this tour if possible.

CATHERINE RALEIGH: All I have to say is we had the BEST tour guide. He was so knowledgeable and super friendly, his name was Tyrone and I will admit he was kind of handsome too☺️ loved the sights and took a MILLION pictures. We went for the night tour- we couldn't see Arlington Cemetery because it was quite dark and raining but we still circled around and went to the Iwo Jima monument and that was neat to see especially after all the lights were on.

Emily Ferguson: We did the DC Under the Stars and it was incredible. Sally, our guide, was funny and engaging, and included such interesting info about DC and had a clear speaking voice. Chris, our driver, was also great. Would highly recommend this tour-and during the Spring, everything is simply stunning! Perfect combination of photo ops, history, humor, as well as moments to reflect and remember some of our nation’s most sobering events. The only downside to the tour was that the man loading us onto the bus was terribly rude and gruff for some reason. Also, there is no hotel pickup so plan to get transportation to the National Archives and make sure to arrive early.

Melissa Coulter: Absolutely the BEST DC tour! Fun and so knowledgeable! The kind of tour that you always hope you book! I highly recommend MR.MAP!

Melanie Williamson: My grandson and I had a wonderful tour of DC from Signature Tours. The guide, Dave, pointed out almost every downtown building, history and fun facts. Arriving at the momuments via the bus was perfect! Chris, the driver, safely took us from one location to another. Our 6-hour tour allowed us to see and experience much more than we could have if we had walked.

jen zappulla: I did the all day tour and Vernon and Chris were amazing! Vernon was so knowledgeable about the monuments and had side stories that added to the richness of what we were seeing. Chris maneuvered that bus like a boss, finding alternate routes due to closures and construction. I would highly recommend!!

Michael Olson: Driver and tour guide Tyrone were awesome! Docked a few stars because company is advertising a service on TripAdvisor that they aren’t providing, pick-up at hotel. We confirmed that our hotel was included on the list on the website so that was correct. The ticket we printed off for our tour listed hotel pickup on it. When I called to confirm this prior to the tour I was told we had to find our own way to the tour departure point. This required a change in our plan, expense, and travel that was not anticipated given what we purchased. You either are or you aren’t doing it because of Covid. This makes no sense to me as we are all sitting in a packed bus for 3 hours without mask requirement so what difference does a pickup make? Feels like an excuse to not do the work to fulfill what is advertised and paid for. The other star dock was for poorly maintained brakes on the bus. Couldn’t hear the tour guide many times because of the high pitched screeching of brakes every few minutes.

N C.: I'll start with saying that the tour itself is not that bad. DC is the same DC day or night. However, your tour guide can make any tour a good one or a dreadful one. Our tour guide was the equivalent of a lounge singer on the Love Boat, but just without the singing. He went on and on and on about pointless stuff. We didn't leave the first stop until 15 min after we should've left because he was babbling to stall for the late comers. It felt like the tour was moving in slow motion. By the 3rd stop, we got off the bus and went home. I've done A LOT of tours around the world and I have only left 2. This was one of them. Cannot recommend. 👎🏽

DC by Foot: what do users think?

Megan Leinbach: Andy gave the best tour of the Washington National Cathedral I’ve ever experience! As a DC local who has taken the free tour provided by cathedral docents multiple times, today’s DC By Foot tour with Andy blew me away. His passion for history and specifically this site was contagious and I truly enjoyed every moment. He encourages questions and can adjust the information he shares to align with the guests’ specific interests and level of background knowledge. As a someone who visits the beautiful grounds here at least once a year for personal enjoyment and brings out of town visitors for a cathedral tour every few years, I will from now on only want to tour with Andy. We were having such a great time that Andy generously extended the tour for an additional hour! Suggestion: Wear comfortable shoes and bring cash to tip at the conclusion of the tour (though he said he has Venmo as well). If there was an option for ten stars, that’s what I'd give the tour I enjoyed today!

Sindys Tavarez: My boyfriend and I took two tours in DC, and Colin’s one (Georgetown) was our favorite. He was very knowledgeable and knew his stuff. It was a mix of architecture and history which was perfect for us, because I’m into architecture/arts and my boyfriend is into history/politics. We loved it.

Jamie McDonald: We love the concept of DC by Foot (pay what you experience) and previously did New Orleans by Foot a few years ago, also loved the experience. This trip we booked four tours, and they did not disappoint. Moonlight and Memorials Tour - Let's start with it was cold, unseasonably cold for DC during the end of March. Taking a walking tour while it's raining/sleeting doesn't sound fun, but it was!! The tours are always about filling your mind with history, lots of history and really getting you engaged with understanding the background and current information about the topic...on this tour, it was the memorials and the DC Mall. We visited the Lockkeepers stone house (don't recognized that one, you will!) Washington Monument, WWII, MLK, Korea, Vietnam and Lincoln Memorials. You will have plenty of time at each memorial for pictures and reading. We learned so much and our tour guide really made the best of the weather situation, laughing and keeping us moving! Our kids at the end were able to repeat so much history about how the city of Washington DC started, who the city builder was, who our Founding Fathers are and had a new appreciation for our veterans from the war memorials. Lincoln Assassination Tour - This one is really fun. If you love a good story, hearing the history, stopping at the sites where history happened...this one is for you. The tour is about telling the story of the days leading up to Lincoln's assassination and taking you back to the year of 1865. You could almost hear the horses on the old streets, smell the cigar smoke and feel the chaos after the fatal shot was fired. It was a glorious trip back in time. Arlington National Cemetery - I wouldn't miss this one. The tour is walking and the cemetery has a lot of stairs and is hilly, be prepared with good walking shoes. This was another fantastic history of information tour. You learn about the cemetery, headstones, stop at General Robert E. Lee's house for a good amount of time, visit JFK's eternal flame, Ruth Bader Ginsburg's grave, watch the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider. You have plenty of time for pictures and questions along the way. The grounds are beautiful and a place every American needs to visit. Washington National Cathedral Tour - This was a treat. We did a private tour with Andy, who is absolutely enthralled with the history and beauty of the cathedral. I was a little worried about our four kids not enjoying the cathedral tour as much, but when Andy met our kids his eyes lit up with excitement to show and teach them. No question will go unanswered and the more questions the happier Andy gets! Make sure to ask about gargoyles, (as my daughter did) and you won't be disappointed as there is a special one that kids will love to see. Plan to spend extra time after the tour at the Cathedral, you'll want to explore more by taking the elevator to the top level for pictures and walk around the grounds. The Cathedral tour was our family favorite and all the rest came in a very close second. This will not be the last of our Tours by Foot, we are planning to keep doing more in future cities we visit.

John David Suayan: Immensely enjoyed the two-hour walking tour of the National Mall I went on last week. Rebecca did a superb job with explaining the backstories of the sites we visited. She told us several things that we didn't learn in school. For example, did you know that war memorials are dedicated on Memorial Day? Or that the Washington Monument is held up not by a sturdy foundation but gravity? Or that the names on the Vietnam Memorial aren't in ABC order? I learned those facts on the tour. Rebecca was really cool for letting us explore the sites and take pictures of them for 10 minutes or so. I felt like this tour made my first time to the nation's capital complete. So, if you're looking to have someone guide you on the National Mall, get with these guys. And if you're assigned to Rebecca, prepare to be amazed.

Joseph Neidenbach: My wife and I took the Georgetown by Foot Tour led by Rebecca. Rebecca did a great job. She was knowledgeable, energetic, friendly and a great representative of our nations capital. I highly recommend this tour. The two hour walk was comfortable. We will take one of these tours the next time we are in DC.

David Matsu: When my wife and I visit new cities we like to take the local "Free Walking Tours." We took the National Mall/Tidal Basin tour with Rebecca and were not disappointed. She took us on a three hour walk, in the rain, and told us all about the history of the monuments. She was well informed, able to answers all questions and taught us a lot. I encourage travelers to take advantage and support the "free tours" especially with a guide like Rebecca.

Lani Slonim: This tour is well planned and well timed and was given by a guide who was personable and knew her history. Ingeborg had fun antidotes and stories that enhanced the understanding of the area in an enjoyable way. Thank you for your efforts!

Jenay Rouimi: We did two great Name Your Price Tours while in Washington - 2 adults and (1) 9 year old. We started with the Arlington Cemetery Tour with Colin and it was excellent. This tour does involve a lot of walking but I highly recommend it. While Arlington does have the trams, I think this tour provides a much more up close (and far less crowded) viewing. Colin was extremely knowledgeable, and he kept us all entertained and informed. We also did the Name Your Price Tour of the Monuments by Moonlight with Emilia. It was an unseasonably cold March night, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The monuments were far less crowded then we expected, and the night time view is spectacular and far different from day time. I highly recommend experiencing both ways. Emilia had so much interesting information on the monuments that I have never heard before and I feel much more well rounded and “in the know”.

Elaine Limanek: My friend and I went to the Ghosts of Georgetown tour and we have nothing but good things to say! Our tour guide, Melissa, was charismatic and led us on a thrilling adventure through the streets of Georgetown, where we learned about the history and haunts of the most charming corner of DC. We truly loved every minute and will certainly be back again!

Lydia Castillo: My boyfriend and I took the Ghosts of Georgetown tour with Emilia. Literally stop looking for a tour, and book it. Now. Okay, have you booked? Now you can read the rest of the review. Emilia was hilarious while also telling our group some great spooky stories. She was really informative of the area's history and made our trip so enjoyable. You get a taste of old Hollywood (The Exorcist), Colonial America, 60s Politics, and good ol' present day stories. We really enjoyed the tour and will definitely be booking another tour with DC by Foot on our next trip.

Private Tours of Washington, inc.: what do users think?

Matt Bilitz: Great family tour and an absolutely wonderful experience with PTW! The communication was superb and the treatment before during and after our tour was heartfelt and friendly! This is the best way to see DC!

Julie Rojas: We used Private Tours of Washington to help plan a spring break trip with our 14 y/o grandson Xavier resulting in a most enjoyable and educational vacation. We opted to take a nighttime monument tour (which was amazing) the first night and a day tour the following day. From our initial contact by telephone to our final farewell we were impressed with the level of professional service provided. After booking we were contacted by email and phone to determine exactly what we wanted to cover during our visit, particularly experiences that would be of interest to our grandson. We then received a tentative agenda to review and received several suggestions from Bill (the owner)that would further enrich this custom experience. In addition to highlighting the usual D.C.monuments, he encouraged us to include the Smithsonian’s Udvar-Hazy Center since our grandson is particularly interested in air/space engineering. As our guide for the day he provided a wealth of information, asked and answered questions and was genuinely interested in Xavier’s impression and knowledge of wartime aircraft. Bill interacted extensively with him, even making recommendations on activities/ possible summer internships related to this field. In addition to a very comfortable ride in a luxury SUV with our excellent driver Shake, my husband and I also thoroughly enjoyed conversing with Bill throughout the day. He is a writer and journalist with a keen interest and knowledge regarding the current political scene. We can highly recommend Private Tours of Washington, and would not hesitate to call upon them on future trips to D.C.

Michael Gerber: My family and I planned a trip to Washington for the first week of the new year. We wanted a tour of the city that was private and personalized, and contacted Private Tours of Washington. Bill, the owner, agreed to be our guide. He showed us more of Washington by car and subway (due to street closures) than we could have ever seen on our own. The whole experience was like a close-up view of history in the making. Something we’ll never forget. Service: Private tours

Kassidy Anderson: Exquisite Tour :) I visited D.C. last month with my mom and sister. Our trip with "Private Tours of Washington" was definitely the highlight of our time there! Bill was so knowledgable and kind, and we each felt that we left our beautiful capital city as much more informed and knowledgable people. Mr. Bill made many inquiries on our interests, and he made sure that these interests were expanded upon. He even recommended other stops along our road-trip from Mississippi to D.C., with stops in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. I have traveled to many areas of the world and taken numerous private tours; however, this tour is one of my favorite experiences. I truly feel that the service and quality are unparalleled, and I intend to recommend this company to any of my friends traveling to the area.

Vonda Livingston: What an amazing experience!!! Oh my goodness there is no better way to see Washington DC!!! The owner Bill was absolutely great to work with and Tony was our tour guide. Such an informative tour!!! PTW customized our tour specifically to us and when I told Bill my Daddy and husband were both veterans, he made sure The U.S. Air Force Memorial was included on the tour as well. We had 3 children, my parents and my husband and I and it was a fabulous tour for every one of us no matter our age. The Tomb of the Unknown Solider was incredibly sobering and watching the Changing of the Guards was something our family will never forget. If you are on the fence re going on a private tour, don't hesitate a minute longer because this was one of the highlights of our travels. This company is fabulous at communication as well. They picked us right up at our VRBO in Old Town Alexandria which was so convenient. Thank you to Tony our tour guide as well as Bill!

Janna Cone: I found Private Tours of Washington last minute once I realized I was way behind in my planning for an official tour of DC. I reached out via email with little hope they would be able to accommodate a private tour for me and 2 friends. The next morning, I got a call directly from the company's owner, Bill. We had the best conversation and he happily agreed to take us on a tour customized to our interests. He was professional, car was nice, the "insider" information was priceless, and we had FUN with him! This would be the only type of tour I would recommend in DC. 5 stars all around! Service: Private tours

Annette Arce: When my co-workers and I had a layover in Washington DC, instead of the usual routine we voted to take a nighttime tour. We went on the internet, compared different companies and picked Private Tours of Washington. I talked to the owner, and he had a driver and tour guide both waiting outside our restaurant with a nice, warm SUV. Everyone had been to DC before, but never had time to be tourists. We had the Lincoln Memorial and other famous monuments all to themselves, with our own expert along to explain everything. PTW turned a winter night in Washington into something special and a very warm memory for all of us.

Alene Cardoza: My boss and his son had a wonderful time in Washington DC thanks to Private Tours of Washington. Bill Thomas and his crew showed them the time of their lives in Washington. The entire staff was very accommodating with a few schedule changes and Irina, Tony, Bah and Bill did such a great job. If you are looking for a class act tour company, this is your best bet! Bill Thomas and his team are a Class Act! Thank you! ~ Alene Cardoza Service: Private tours

Olga Xiroyannis: I used to live in Washington and was back a few weeks go for work. Since it’s been awhile, I decided I might need professional guidance to get reacquainted with some of my favorite places. I called Private Tours of Washington, eventually talking with Bill, the owner, about what I wanted to see. He arranged a three-hour guided tour of Georgetown, DuPont Circle and some other parts of town I’ve always liked. As I hoped, the tour was a real trip down Memory Lane. A lot has changed, but happy to see some things never do, like Kramerbooks still right where I remembered it. What a fantastic nostalgia-filled afternoon. Could not have imagined anything better!

Lachezar Minchev: Amazing Night Tour! We were in Washington for a wedding and decided to stay over for the fireworks. In between we used Private Tours of Washington to see the city at night. Amazing! Bill was a fantastic tour guide. There was nothing he didn’t know. He also kept us in stitches the whole time. I’d recommend this company in a heartbeat. Great tour!

The Society of the Cincinnati: what do users think?

Hussain: Spent more than 2 hours in the home! It’s an absolute pleasure to explore this beautiful home and the history behind Cincinnati Society. Loved it all, highly recommend especially on a rainy day. Established in 1783, as the American War for Independence drew to a close, the Society of the Cincinnati is the oldest private patriotic organization in the United States. The Society is also our nation's first hereditary organization. The founders of the Society assigned their descendants the task of preserving the memory of the patriotic sacrifices that made American liberty a reality.

Caroline Maunakea-Hammonds: We stopped in after lunch for the Hamilton exhibit, we didnt even know this place was here. We stayed for the tour of the home, it was informative and delightful. This is honestly my new favorite museum in the District. Our docent, Dan, was engaging and a wealth of knowledge. Such an unexpected treat.

Bill Bahr: Great place to visit to learn about early American history. The library has a fantastic collection of books on George Washington. Especially check out "George Washington's Liberty Key!" : )

BradJill: The Anderson House is a lovely Beaux-Arts style mansion located on Massachusetts Ave. NW near Dupont Circle, which serves as the national headquarter for the Society of the Cincinnati. You can visit this National Historic Landmark building by way of free guided tours, which start 15 minutes past each hour and lasting approximately 1 hour. This mansion was built between 1902-1905 for American diplomat, Larz Anderson. Many of the precious items within the estate were received gifts or items purchased during travels or periods of service abroad. Particularly impressive are the large scale ballroom and the upstairs dining room. Both are exquisitely decorated, displaying fine portraits, chandeliers, marble flooring, Flemish tapestries and other elegant furniture. Near the end of the tour, you are shown a massive painting 'Triumph of the Dogaressa of Venice' by Spanish artist Jose Y Cordero Villegas. This is a beautiful painting, as are the Society of the Cincinnati war murals seen at the end of the tour. Other rooms and their possessions are equally delightful to view. I really enjoyed my visit to the Anderson House and would highly recommend taking the free 1 hour tour here. Its well worth your time if you enjoy private collections and small museum visits. Note: Photography is allowed throughout so feel free to snap away during your tour.

Daniel Draper: Nice free museum and toue located on embassy row. Great to check out while taking a walk through the beautiful neighborhood. Takes about an hour on the tour and you get to see the beautiful house.

Junxiao Shi: Free museum offering one-hour tours of the historic house. I found this via geocaching last year. It is worth the time.

MaryJane Burgess: A place to learn so much about our early history. Our docent, Ms. Jamieson was excellent and very knowledgeable. Enjoyed the hour tour.

Heather Wellington: Incredible historic home and museum. Such a beautiful place! A local treasure!

tripop noiwan: Excellent architectural find in Washington DC. Excellent example of the Gilded Americana. Decor rivals that of Versailles!

Ashley Rogers: This is such a cool place to visit! Lots of cool history. Bonus: IT'S FREE TO VISIT!

Grand Atlas Private Tours of DC: what do users think?

Marie Navikas: I will echo what others have written ... this is the only way to see D.C.! Having a driver and a guide made our day so enjoyable and enabled us to see so much more than if we had been on our own trying to navigate the busy streets, parking and walking! As one other customer put it, it is worth every penny ... and then some! Our fabulous guide, Nathalie, also pointed out how the SUV was more nimble moving about than the huge tour busses. Our driver, Jose, was a skilled driver and thoughtful. He met us with open umbrellas as we exited one building as it was starting to rain. His car was stocked with cold waters! We were in town from Florida and were met by long-time friends from Pittsburgh ... it was such a nice way for us to get together! We saw and learned more than we expected! Eric has a good thing going!

Donna LaWall: Exquisite packed tour. Best tour I’ve experienced stateside . From the start of each day, sharing the sites and going above everyday to ensure every has an exceptional experience. The knowledge of monuments and historical sites- was extraordinary. Our adventure started with a day tour , a night guided tour and then an additional day tour to Arlington because why would we not ! My struggle with heights and walking slower was accommodated with such grace. We had such a great experience, Run don’t walk to book your vacation adventure with Atlas .

Julie Franklin: 5 gigantic stars for our tour guide, Eric!! He was so informative and fun. He made our tour great!!! Highly recommend this private tour!! It will not disappoint!!

Khaleesi June: This company treated my brother and I like a King and Queen. Truly amazing experience! They were on time at our meet location! They both wore masks, provided hand sanitizer and wipes and also offered cold bottles of water on this very hot day. They were also very thorough with direction throughout DC. Daniel was our driver and he was dressed very professionally and even took the extra step in opening the door for me at every location we stopped at! Bob was our tour guide and man oh man was he a delight! He made it very fun and was highly knowledgeable about everywhere he took us to see! Monuments, Memorials, little unknown facts... Bob was like a walking encyclopedia!!!! We also got done a bit early so I was wondering if the time spent had any correlation with what I paid for and immediately as I spoke to Bob about this concern, he communicated with the communication rep I was dealing with named Eric and Eric immediately called me and gave me some very generous options for accommodations about my concern!! One of the best experiences I ever had!!!! I will definitely be back!!!! They were wonderful!

Lynnetta Windsor: Best Tours Ever!! I reserved a half day & evening tour with Eric prior to bringing my 13 year old grandson to DC for his fall break. He loved Eric's interesting facts and tidbits so much that we added a third tour. Each tour was customized to our list of "must-sees". I have visited & enjoyed the DC mall a dozen times, but this was the first time to have chauffeured transportation along with an expert guide and this is the ONLY way to see DC. I am planning to use Eric again when my next grandson turns 13. Erics tours are definitely worth every penny!!

SJ Dunietz: I've gone on two tours with Grand Atlas Tours and each one has been a truly fantastic experience. He started by creating a customized tour based on my needs and arranged all the details ahead of time. Eric was extremely knowledgeable and provided insight throughout the tour, including many details that even as a native, still surprised me. I'd highly recommend Grand Atlas Tours to anyone that wants a real DC experience with an expert guide.

Amber Rainey: I highly recommend this company for tours of DC. Bob was an incredible guide! He was super knowledgeable and very responsive to questions. He showed us everything on our list and more! He was super helpful in suggesting things to see and where to have both a delicious lunch and incredible afternoon snack. I feel like this was the best way to see all the monuments and important buildings. Viviana was a great driver and really helped get us everywhere safely. If you want an absolutely fantastic tour of DC, chose Grand Atlas.

stevie garcia: My family happened to be in DC at the same time as our friends, so we booked a tour in June 2021. Eric was so knowledgeable. It was humid out and he had cold water for us. We did fun trivia during the drive. He also took photos of us and gave us pointers on the best angles for the photos we took ourselves. I would recommend this tour to everyone.

Troy Schmidt: We started our visit to Washington DC on the highest note possible. Eric and Grand Atlas tours made our visit to all the monuments fun and memorable. He was a master of quizzes and could not be stumped in a number of areas. The driver provided cold water and snacks along the way. Definitely worth the price for our party of 11.

Brett M.: We've been on two Grand Atlas tours and loved them both! We first joined them on one of their public group tours around Lafayette Park at night and it was amazing! Our tour guide Eric showed a real love for what he was doing and left us feeling like we could see DC different even as people who lived there. After that, we hired Grand Atlas when my In-laws came to town. They asked what kinds of history we were into, and then designed a tour that took our Father-in-law to all of these awesome Military historical sites around DC. I can't express how much fun we had discovering all these neat places around DC. Even though my wife and I have lived in DC for years, we never went somewhere we had been before. Thanks Grand Atlas (especially Eric) for such amazing times. Can't wait to bring my family again for another round!

DC Military Tours: what do users think?

Thankful Mom: We took a private tour today of Arlington National Cemetery with Navy veteran Tom Schultz of DC Military Tours. WOW. What we saw, did, and learned with Tom in 3 1/2 hours we NEVER could’ve done on our own. Tom and this tour were phenomenal. It was myself, my husband, and our teen son, who stayed engaged and loved it. HIGHLY recommend DC Military Tours. We will absolutely use Tom when we bring our son back to do DC. Thank you for an amazing and unforgettable afternoon.
Response: Beth, David, and Luke, Thank you for the kind review. We lucked out with the weather and I enjoyed your company and insights. I trust your drive back to Richmond was safe and wish that to continue in your way home to Tennessee. Please come back. Tom

Sidney Wright: Tom was an absolute pleasure to work with and he customized an entire weekend of events for my boss's military retirement weekend. Tom helped us with transportation, pre event coordination, tour guide expertise and venue access. We had one of the best events that any of us could ever remember! No other place to look other than this wonderful Veteran owned and Veteran operated business!

Holly White: We have toured Washing DC in the past with a major tour company, and I can say we had a 110% better experience with DC Military Tours. Mr. Shultz is a fabulous tour guide. We enjoyed two different tour packages through him. He genuinely cares about what you wish to see and do. Mr. Schultz’s knowledge base is remarkable!
Response: Holly, Thank you for sharing your family with me and best wishes to Mason on this coming plebe/swab summer at USNA or USCGA.

Charlie Salgado: Tom was absolutely amazing, completely catered/scheduled our tour based on what we were interested in seeing and weather conditions and had some awesome recommendations along the way. Tom kept it very interesting for the kids by keeping them engaged with age appropriate questions, stories, and interesting facts. He was able to answer all of our completely random questions along the way. Tom’s passion for American History is evident and made it fun for all. Tom also had many awesome suggestions for photo ops along the way, and was able to capture some amazing family pictures for us. Thank you so much for your hospitality!
Response: Charlie and Amy, Thank you for your kind review and for sharing your family with me on Saturday. You are truly blessed with three daughters who are polite, composed, and thoughtful. I enjoyed our day together and am glad I was able to deliver a memorable Washington experience. - Tom

Maura Flint: Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueHad the opportunity to have Tom as our guide through Alexandria. His narrative and command of facts as well as his engaging story telling made for a wonderful experience. Definitely would take another tour soon.Services: Private tours, Group tours
Response: Maura, Thank you for your kind remarks. Perhaps on a return visit we can experience some additional Old Town attractions we did not have time for this time around. Tom

Brittany Chapman: We reviewed a couple companies and settled on this one due to their flexible options and best pricing. Tom (our guide) was AWESOME! We weren’t sure what to expect but he was great- the tours he provided were top notch every single place we decided to go. He was fun to talk to and knew all the insider scoop stuff to give us the best experience in a short amount of time. Not only did he exceed expectations but he even took the time to help us plan our following day’s activities and give us tips and suggestions. We met us at Arlington, provided ice cold bottled water while he drove us to our destinations in his super clean and comfortable SUV with ease. GET this tour, we did the 6 hour and it was the highlight of our time in DC. You WONT regret it! Thanks so much!

Krista Stark: Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, QualityTom is a fantastic storyteller and really paints the mental picture of the historical events he brings to life on his tours.
Response: Krista, Thank you for your thoughts. It was a wonderful autumn weather day in Old Town Alexandria and I’m glad we could take advantage. Tom.

White House Visitor Center: what do users think?

Jesse Enloe: We apparently were quite fortunate to be able to get into the White House on this trip as we'd put a request in for the tour less than a month before our vacation and I'd heard you'd need to request a tour several months in advance. Security is tight, as one could imagine, so be sure to follow all the prescribed rules very carefully. The security stationed around the home are quite friendly and informative, giving the history of each room in which they're stationed to all who ask. Our timing was great, as we got to see the presidential motorcade leaving right as we showed up.

Kevin Pelley: The White House was dressed up beautifully for Christmas. Our trip was easy fun and stunning. We requested our tickets three months prior through our representative. We showed up 1 hour early to the White House Visitor Center, where we discovered that the entrance is across the street. The White House Visitor Center was a great place to start, with a 12 minute informative video, models and Miniatures of the White House, and artifacts with information about the life in the White House. We also picked up several gifts for family members at the gift shop at the White House Visitor Center. 30 minutes prior to our appointed visit time we made our way to the security entrance across the street from Pershing Park. There are three separate screening areas, but all were easy and non-intrusive. The White House itself was fully decked out for Christmas. It looked and smelled like the holidays. The tour is self-guided, but there are Secret Service agents everywhere who are very friendly and willing to provide information about the room in which they're posted. We highly recommend this tour for anyone.

Ryan Barley: Very cool place and I wish it was advertised better. Once you find it it is a great museum, full of information about the beginnings of the White house. Also it tells of the evolution the building went throw over time. Cool artifacts that show the people who interacted with America, old house hold items that were used to entertain guests and old furniture the past presidents sat on. Pretty quick museum over all in comparison to all the other museums at the National Mall.

Freeman Tao: Interesting and varied displays. Not as much content as I thought there would be. Due to our group's early entrance time, we visited the White House before walking down the the visitors center. Even the hallways in the White House have been a part of history and the entire place is a museum. It would have been nice if the we could have reversed the order. We would have had more background information before stepping into the White House.

Danny Brown: I really enjoyed the tour but the only thing that disappointed me was that the tour was not long enough. It is more or less a self-guided tour but there are a Secret Service agent in each room to answer any questions you may have. Wished we could see more but we knew that was not possible because of security concerns. We would recommend this tour.

Jeff Rutherford: Today was one of the most profoundly Inspiring days of my life! It was almost overwhelming. I was in the place where everything that is our Country has been done. The Power was Incredible. I am proud of the service I gave to my country. And today I was given the honor to walk the halls and be in the rooms that have witnessed the most important decisions made in our country. And even the world. It was humbling and exhilarating, scary and wonderful, and i was Proud! It's hard to describe what it was like. Everything was perfect, and in good working order. The people working were the absolute professionals and incredibly nice. I was able to be inside the building that has seen Elvis, Abraham Lincoln, JFK, Teddy Roosevelt, Mohammed Ali, the Queen of England, the Heads of State to almost every Nation since it was built. It has been burnt to the ground and re built but the walls have always been there. The walls have heard death and children playing. Goats have lived and dogs have played. every war except one has been played out in it. Peace has been kept and won, all for a simple idea. "For the People by the People." I saw the desk that was used to sign the Civil rights act and help organize NASA. National parks were made on it and Nixon resigned. Winston Churchill was there and the room that witnessed the death of Osama bin laden and Benghazi. Terrible and Amazing things happened in it and it made me feel...everything! I was in the White House! IT WAS SO FREAKING AWESOME

DJ H: While we didn't really plan to visit the White House Visitors Center, it was an enjoyable experience. We we're actually just looking for a rest room and we were told by the White House Park staff to go to the White House Visitor Center. This place is free to visit and has many interesting item to see that once belonged inside the White House or were once gifts to previous US Presidents from other nations. I would recommend coming here.

Axel Müller: Nice visitor center with much information about the White House (presentation boards, information boards, cinema show and so on).A gift shop is also on site where you can buy a lot of souvenirs and other things. At the entrance you have to pass a security check.

Chuck: Security folks friendly but professional. Tours are self guided. Facility is amazing... as one would expect of the home of our head of state. Amazing amount of history, but you have to bring your own resources, as the secret service agents, with one amazing exception, volunteered no information.

Carlos Aguiluz: Great place to learn about the history of the White House. Really enjoyed the amount of artifacts that this center had, not too overwhelming if you have small kids.
