Emily Tedesco: I had such a good experience at this store. My apartment complex had done some work on my kitchen but gave me no help in managing the noxious fumes from the paint. It occurred me to stop into the paint store. The man there let me rant a little bit (he was very kind) and gave me a solution that worked. I think it cost like $20. danceswithcars w: While the renamed store still hosts TheBikeHouse on the edge of the parking lot and tools inside, not much else has changed, afaict, still kind of unpaid day laborers in relation to a for profit store. When at Qualia it was coffee/light foods and taking over the back yard. This tools, supplies and learning some basic mechanics. How to change a flat. How a ratchet works. On up through what can be done with bikes... At times I wish TBH would takeover a foreclosed property and have a home... Until then I guess buy cold sweet liquids while baking to death in the heat without bathroom nor filtered cold water access. FWIW I was at the (original) opening with council member(s), food truck, etc. District HW (w 🚲), old Capital Hill Fragers that burned, saw deceased mayor there, etc.

Mark Pry: Excellent hardware store in the Petworth area that typically has everything I need. The staff are friendly and helpful. Chris was especially helpful when I needed to grab a few bags of mulch!

James Rayford: The service was horrible. After standing in the isle for 8 to ten minutes I had go get someone and his response was go get it bring it here. Then finally coming to help with one item only he disappeared. So I walked out.

Daniel Alexander: The first time I came to this location, I received excellent help in finding the right size nail for a small drawer. But today, despite the store not being very busy, no one offered much help in me trying to decide on plants or planters. Fine, I can do it myself. But then the plastic plate rang up for over twice the actual price. And none of the plastic planters have any prices, so I ended up returning everything and leaving with only time wasted - if I can't trust the register to ring up one item properly (aka theft) then I think the other prices might be wrong (or just way overpriced for some cheap plastic planters).

I had a coffee table done and it looks fantastic. They had so many options of paint and antiquing/patina/distressing and what layer of protection you want. VERY PLEASED

Joni Wauhop: Love this store. It's small but has a lot of great unique finds. One of the only places that sells Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in the area. The furniture is decently priced and I get a lot of inspiration from this store. The stuff is just so cute. Every Saturday they have heir sister shop open a few blocks down with even more more furniture, painted and unpainted. They offer several painting classes as well. Highly recommend.

She was very responsive, which is a must with how quickly homes go in the area, and it felt like we were able to utilize her knowledge of the local market and neighborhoods to find a home that we will be happy in for a very long time. Andrea Seiger: Tanglewood Works relocated down the road to Mt Rainier several months ago to a big studio space that is chock full of upcycled furnishings, decor, DIY kits and loads of painting supplies for you to do your own projects. Sue has also started a new pop-up maker market that occurs a few times a year featuring lesser known 'troubleMAKERS' from the area. Cool market to shop for gifts that you don't see everywhere. This colorful studio/shop is a fun place to visit and to get some great ideas and supplies to get your creativity going.

Abby Bar-Lev Wiley: This review is for the recent pop-up opening on Gallatin & Baltimore, across from Franklin's. This shop is amazing. Sue, the owner, takes care in curating beautiful, local products that support artists in our community. My husband and I stopped in last weekend after I noticed the shop from the display windows on Baltimore Ave. The boutique has such an eclectic mix of things to furnish your home, yourself, and to give as gifts, from paintings, to soaps and candles (lots of candles!), furniture, clothes, bags, jewelry, and fun trinkets. We found gifts for my mother-in-law and picked up some things for ourselves. Everything is a piece of art, and it's all local and focused on recycled materials. We had a lovely conversation with Sue, and she couldn't be kinder or more knowledgeable or passionate about the shop and the artists she supports. She's trying to keep the pop-up location permanent, and it would be a great addition to the neighborhood. Check it out!!

Emily Shaw: I love this place--such a friendly neighborhood vibe. I get all my plants here, and this one guy who works there (sorry don't remember the name) is my plant guru. They will repot your plants for a small fee if you bring them in, which is so helpful when you live in an apartment. Also--their plants are so reasonably priced!! I bought a gorgeous 7-foot fiddle leaf fig on a whim because the price was literally a quarter of what you'd pay at [unnamed nearby plant shop]. Thank you for everything you do!!

Paul Durbin: If you want service and quick check out go to True Value on 17th. Completely different experience with knowledgeable staff ready for you at the door who will help you and then check you out right away. 100% of the true value staff knows their stuff. Here it’s mainly people who will just check you out and don’t know hardware. This place has equally good inventory and later hours, but it’s not a hardware store experience. And for what it’s worth this is an Ace Hardware, which advertises on Fox News, should you want to avoid supporting Fox.

Baba Harsh: This place is great, I understand it's a mom and pop shop but man the prices are super high. The people are somewhat helpful but got a lot of short answers. Ended up at Home Depot.

Mel R.: Efficient and friendly, Juan went above and beyond with customer service to ensure I had the exact color paint and primer I needed for our contractors to finish the job. He volunteered to explain the different types of primer products and their three-tiered price points, which let me know he was concerned with me making the right decision for my budget. Talking to my contractor over the phone and extending him a contractor discount was a gesture I didn't expect, but well pleased with. He anticipated I would have difficulty getting my supplies to my car and offered curb side assistance. Thanks again, Juan for making my visit to your business a pleasant one. I will definitely be a returning customer.

a.l. rodenberg: Many things to love about this store. Personable owner who has time for every customer, great advice, a newly expanded collection of useful house-type items... But for anyone who watches furniture flippers obsessively on youtube and either thinks about trying it out or has a cheap marketplace find that you're going to tackle... These folks might become your new best friends. Their current range of chalk paint is limited to Rustoleum (though they do have tintable rustoleum chalk paint, which I didn't know was a thing) The price, if I remember, was $15 and change for a quart? But they have Benjamin Moore Advance, which is a self-leveling cabinet paint ($20ish/quart). Unfortunately, the least shiny option in Advance is Satin, but I can attest to the self-leveling qualities. They aren't currently carrying General Finishes Milk Paint, which I am eager to test out, but... they can order and have available within a day for you (I asked). They are contemplating just carrying the line on the shelves, but a day to order and be able to pick it up at a local place instead of Amazon? That works for me. I'd much rather contribute to the bottom line of an independant local than continue to line the pockets of Bezos. Who knows, if there are enough of us, we might be able to talk them into giving us a corner with waxes, brushes, stencils, and other sundries to play with. Even though they don't currently have a dedicated furniture painting corner, there is a crafty corner with metallic paints, plus a variety of top coats and finishing products, stains, paint brushes, measuring/mixing cans, sanding implements, and other useful things. Just saying. If you're into flipping furniture for yourself or others, this place is worth a visit.

Lyssa McEachern: The friendliest staff! They walked me (a first time painter) step by step through what I would need and what paint, finish, and grade would be best! I’ll come here for any painting need!

Andrew Eifert: This is a great paint store besides the fact but they have Benjamin Moore paint and other paint products they also have a fine selection of painting accessories that will help even the most hapless amateur out with their projects.they also did a very fine job of matching a paint color for me something that not all paint stores do very good job of. I'm a professional painter and owner of a painting company it's always quite a pleasure to run into a company that knows what they're doing. A lot of people would probably be surprised to know that all Benjamin Moore stores are a independently operated and owned franchise. So not every Benjamin Moore store is going to give you the same price or the same service. This store offers a competitive price on their paint and excellent service.

Jordan Kaye Colvin: THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE STORES LIKE THIS. I didn't buy anything but called to ask if they had a product I needed for a time-sensitive project. They had it in stock and I asked to put it aside for me to pick up. They called me back 5 minutes later to say, so kindly, "I think you actually mean to use it for THIS, and blah blah blah." Long story short- they went the extra mile to save the time driving there because I was mistaken about the product's use. They are awesome and I wanted to acknowledge a great small business.

GraceEagle: I bought GARDZ Problem Surface Sealer from them to fix a huge drywall tear. Product really works great! Glad they had it, otherwise I would have had to wait for Amazon to ship. Would definitely shop there again.

Heath Miller: I came here because I wanted to paint my kitchen cabinets and I had a lot of questions (the responses at a big box store were disappointing). Juan and Danny were very helpful with picking out the right primer, paint, and tools as well as giving me tips. I used the Benjamin Moore Advance paint, I love that stuff!

Could I save a little bit of cash by driving out to the deep burbs for the Home Despot or similar? Sure, but would I? Absolutely not. MAC Cover: I am rating Glover Park Ace location a 4 because the gentleman who assisted me was very nice in spite of this mean nasty new world we live in. The only issue I have was I placed my order for curbside but the store was unable to locate the order which caused me to go inside the store which I loathe. Love my Ace Hardware!

20TH Century Archivist: Disbelieve all positive reviews for the ACE Hardware in Glover Park. The staff there is rude, unhelpful, incompetent and pay absolutely no attention to customer safety. This explains why today was my last shopping trip to the ACE Hardware in Glover Park. I was walking through one of the aisles in the ACE Hardware in Glover Park and was looking at items on a shelf when I suddenly was tripped and fell to the floor: the staff left several thick and heavy sealed cardboard boxes scattered right on the floor. A store employee came to see what had happened and when she saw me rising from the floor she then promptly lost all interest. The employee "apologized" in an insincere manner and was offended when I criticized her and the store for leaving boxes scattered on the floor for customers to trip on, claiming that she was not the employee responsible. Although I haven't encountered scattered boxes previously in the in the ACE Hardware in Glover Park, the staff there does place too much merchandise in the aisles: they are totally incompetent and rude and cannot properly run the store. Placing heavy sealed cardboard boxes on the store floor for customers to trip on is absolutely the dumbest thing store employees can do: Washington, DC store employees can be among the worst, but I have never encountered such flagrant incompetence in a store in this city before today. The Yelp reviewers posting here leaving all of those five-star reviews probably have never shopped often in the ACE Hardware in Glover Park or spent much time in the store when shopping there. All of the Washington, DC area ACE Hardware stores are poorly staffed and managed, but the Glover Park location is the very worst and has been getting worse since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic: they are unable to deal with more customer demand. For your own safety and sanity, please avoid the ACE Hardware in Glover Park! You will find Lowe’s or the Home Depot to be a safer, saner, and more courteous environment!

Jessica C: I take my dog here twice a week while I browse their new plant selections. The staff are all so nice and helpful. I love that they shower my dog with attention. My dog loves it too. She always tries to drag me in for treats. They have a great plant selection. They change things up but you can usually find a good array of basics and less common plants. Roger Torres: This is a great hardware store. Ace has a little bit of everything and in some cases more than specialty store. For instance the plumbing section has more fittings than HD Lowes or Furgerson. Ace is well stock and the sales associate are super friendly. My one dislike and this is why I gave it 4 ⭐️s not the 5 ⭐️s. The prices are in most cases twice as Home Depot and Lowes. Some times triple the price. I’m in the home remodeling/handyman business and it’s time consuming to run to get one piece of 2x4x8 so I end up paying three times the price. I know it’s a convenience but they are the only once that get away with doubling the price. Anyway Indo like the if I know that they carry the item it will be in stock. This particular location has underground parking and it’s free for the first hour.

Davron Nigmatov: Very helpful staff. Good variety of tools for your home. I bought adjustable wrench and pliers. The wrench didn't fit and I returned without any problem. You'll find good quality tools for reasonable price.

John Newman: I like this Ace Hardware. I was looking for a water additive for my humidifier and they had it in stock. It is a small store. Rather tight quarters, but a large selection. Attitudes at the register can be good or not so good. Depends on who is on the schedule that day.

Stephen Schwartz: Small ace hardware store tucked away in the parking garage, but good for a quick in and out for specific items. Not going to have the largest selection, but that's probably not why you are headed here anyway! Edit: updating my review here as per the response below. They expanded the store a LOT - it's maybe 33% to 50% larger now which has a lot more stock.

BLU CHRUSH MEGA TRUCK: Staff is super , I called ahead to make sure what I needed was in stock, and when I walked in the door some 11 minutes later I was greeted as if he knew me ! In and out although I did park on the curb and ride the stairs down due to my work truck not fitting in the parking garage, PS, the stamp your ticket so ya don't pay for parking here!

Today in the afternoon, we went with my fiancé to this store to purchase the paint and tools for our new house. We were excited as this is our first home and first time painting. There was only one very rude lady in the store who was annoyed with our questions and kept pressuring us as she kept saying that she needed to close the store (half an hour before closing). We didn’t end up buying anything and decided to make our purchase somewhere else. If you’re planning on buying from this store don’t expect to get help or guidance.

Kris Juncker: Sherwin Williams recycles paint cans. This is a great service. We use SW paints for my workplace, and I switched to SW for home because of the quality. However, contractors get a price discount so definitely work with your builder if you are getting the walls painted.

koura Gibson: Disappointed to be rudely treated for “walking into store” before opening. The door was wide opened and I entered only to be charged aggressively by the 3 attending employees, shouting for me to exit. I had to calm them down of their excitement to reprimand me for entering the store. There was no indication that the store was not opened. No hours were posted ether. Then the older guy rudely and aggressively closed the door as I exited. He then snarkly stated “I guess!” When informing him that 8:00 was in 14 minutes. It was really disappointing to have to endure such rudeness in the morning.

Al Boyd: Customer service, was excellent. But I didn't appreciate being mistaken for a thief. I had the receipt was in my bag. I am a retired police officer, I don't need too steal anything from anyone.

Nathan Deunk: Very convenient location, and they've really improved the store since they moved locations. Unfortunately, Fragers employees and contractors consistently endanger the residents of the surrounding community by illegally parking on both 11th SE and Pennsylvania SE. I can't support a store that cares so little for their neighbors, especially when those neighbors are their customers.

Roshelle Veney: Love this place! When I walk in they ask my what I'm looking for and surprisingly the cashier always seem to know off hand exactly what isle it's in. The floor staff don't just show you where things are, but they often ask what you're working on to point you in the right direction. I'm a bit of a creative nut, so I always have something that takes a bit of explaining and they don't seem to mind.

Brad Moffett: Great local hardware store. Nice variety. You can get keys made here quickly. Don't forget to check out their upstairs. It is easy to miss the stairs in the store. Excellent collection of screws including stainless steel ones that you can only find limited sizes of at the big box stores.

Laurie Brandt: Discovered that every strand of LED icicle lights I purchased last year were only half-lit this year. I called to cancel an order I'd just placed for another 10 boxes. I love these lights and I've had dozens throughout the years from Celebrations without a problem. I wasn't upset; I just figured something changed at the company and didn't want to toss $20/box away on the same problem. The LAST thing I expected was to be cheerfully passed onto the manager (Marty) who chose to look up the 2020 purchase and issue a refund! What? Wait! For real?! I kid you not ~ and I am still stunned. It's been so long since I experienced retail generosity towards a customer that I forgot what it felt like. Thanks Twins Ace of Fairfax. Do the community a great favor and give Marty and your staff every reason to stay with you. I hope others will read this and order online for delivery or pickup - or find their way to the store to meet these unicorns. That's what I intend to do from now on!

Bob Lerch: I walked into the store and, as always, was quickly greeted, then referred to Marty who was the manager on duty to assist me. He rekeyed a new Weiser lockset I brought in so that it would match my existing house locks that are all "old school" 5-pin mechanisms. He quickly determined that it could be done, then repinned the cylinder to match my original old house key. I was ready to check out in ten minutes! Truly impressive even if it was basic lock cylinder stuff to Marty. Lowe's & Home Depot couldn't/wouldn't help. This was absolutely worth the ten miles driven and ten bucks spent. Once again, Twins ACE is my hero!! 😃👍👍👍

Rajasekar Kayamboo: I went there to pick up a Craftsman tool box. This is my first time going there. It is in a complex land the area is likely Fairfax downtown. Fairly large store and abundant collection of tools. They also do repairs of equipments and sharpening of blades. Staff were knowledgeable.

Mark Blanchard: Called ahead of going there to make sure they have a product on the shelf. The person on the phone put me on hold to check, and a few minutes later came back to confirm they have plenty in stock. So I drove over to the store, and when I got there I couldn't find the product. I asked an associate to help me find the product, and he told me that they don't have any in stock (that was 8 minutes after I made my phone call). Nice people, but quite incompetent.

Randy Moulton: I'm a life long civil libertarian and refuse to wear a mask. I was told to leave if I wouldn't wear a mask and couldn't buy if I didn't comply. Rather than escalate, the manager offered to shop for me if I waited outside. He got what I wanted and brought the receipt and purchases outside and said he would meet me outside if I needed to return anything. A+ for service

Adam Stryker: I hesitate to recommend this store because then folks will know where I get all the unique things in my home. Also, my family and friends will know where I got some of their unique gifts. I don't want to give it all away. Stop in and see what I'm talking about. Their buyers are geniuses. It's like going back in time to the New York City of the past where private stores reigned. I love unique gifts you could only find in NYC before they turned it into a suburban shopping mall. TWINS ACE HARDWARE IS MORE THAN A HARDWARE STORE. IT'S EVERYTHING. ( I'm already regretting that I told you. Don't buy up all my favorites!)

Scott Eltringham: One of three great hardware stores in Arlington--Cherrydale and Bill's True Value are the other two--Twins is more modern feeling than the other two. It has the widest selection of goods of the three stores and a lot of fun, not-really-hardware stuff. They also cut keys well. The staff is always friendly and fairly knowledgeable. Parking can be difficult.

Angie Whitehurst: Everything a home owner needs for those serious got to get it done now jobs, like the porch, wall Nick's, tub touch ups, brushes, cleaners, is inthe front of the store. They are almost mind readers and they have Dale prices. They are handicapped accessible and have a large parking lot. The customer service representatives, are knowledgeable, warm and friendly.

G Farm: I was mortified by the reviews I read so I decided to call in advance before walking to the store. Sure enough, my experience was consistent with the bad reviews. How do you not offer paint matching services when PAINT is supposed to be your specialty?! I'm going to ACE Hardware in Adams Morgan instead. They have a 4.5 Google rating! Do not waste your time with the numb-skulls at Sherman-Williams on 14th. With any luck, they'll close...for good.

Erik V: Outstanding! There are many places you can buy paint, but there are few places that offer the expertise and service I received here. From picking a color/finish to prepping the walls to throwing down paint, these pros know... and they're really nice!

Shahrzad Grami: On the first visit, I didn't take the advice of the knowledgeable staff about a color, and I regretted it. This time, I listened to Brandon's advice on color, sheen, paint quality, knowing it'll be a better choice. He was gracious, though I came just before the store closed causing him to stay late. I really appreciate his willingness to do that, and I can lean him to know his products and customers. I can't recommend this store and manager enough - thank you!

Sam Wice: Reviewing this as a retail client who is not a painting expert. Staff were helpful in identifying the correct paint to use. Paint is a little expensive versus places like Home Depot, but they often have 35%/40% sales so wait for one of those.

Albert Nelson: The staff here are rude and completely incompetent. I have been to many paint stores and have never had these issues. Joseph, the guy that took my order was not only rude when I was explaining that I wanted a quart of paint. Told me that they probably do not have it because it is a commercial store with an attitude. Ended up having it and he mixed it for me. When I I go to put the paint into the rooler pan I noticed that the paint wasnt even shaken. He shot the dyes into the can and did not shake it, after pouring it into the pan, I could not get the paint to mix properly. I called and he said that I can come back up there and they would give me a new one. The store what's 30 minutes away from where I was, I only went to it because it was on the way. I will not go here again that's for sure. As you can see in the picture below it is white mixed with red, yellow and green. The pigment wasnt mixed, It was supposed to be a dark pink. The paint was ruined. I had to go to Home Depot and buy a new one.

Ankur Sood: Seriously bad service, there were only two people in the store and the cashier just disappeared. I had to wait over 30 minutes just to cash out.. I would suggest going to another store, I'm pretty sure the Walmart close but has paint supplies and probably cheaper.

KB: If you have to get a correct match with quality paint, this is the only option. Don't waste your time with Home Depot or Lowes cheap paint and poor matching. You will end up paying more anyway if you do.

Jose amaya: The worst out of all the sherwin- Williams paint stores I have ever visted. Bad customer service. The employee that assisted me was the most rude person ever. No customer service skills at all. I had to wait 30 minutes for one quart of paint and I was the only customer there. The whole establishment was very filthy. If that wasn't the only sherwin Williams close by I would not set foot in that store ever again.

Michele Morgan: That the staff was friendly, helpful and respected me. Often as a woman walking into any hardware store I get talked down to, the men in your store were great to me and my wife.

hahahas lkjhgg: Well stocked. And variety of items to choose from. The staff are always friendly. Every time I go there they will assist me with smiles on their faces. Highly recommend!

Nick Ewing: I always try to do my hardware shopping in this location. Employees are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Store is always well cleaned and well stocked. Perfect location to drop off UPS packages as well!

Dure Kim: Well stocked.Would recommend moving the chainsaw files and chainsaw chains next to the chainsaws. They're currently next to the bbq/kitchen stuff. Hope this gets chained soon.

Chris Aresu: A+ neighborhood hardware store. The staff is very knowledgeable, and has provided help on a number of home projects where I’ve been stuck. Definitely recommend.

Lou Feagans (Louie): Nice selection of products, clean helpful shopping environment. However, they do not respect the Brookland neighborhood and place signs illegally on street lights and blocking sidewalks. Can not recommend supporting a business that does not respect the neighborhood within which it operates.

Sharon Winget: Another reason why I love this hardware store--amazing customer service. Today they accepted the return of a product I purchased there more than one month ago, without the receipt. Turns out if you use your Ace Rewards # on purchases they have a record of it. On multiple occasions I have turned to them after a frustrating experience at Lowe's or HD and received personalized service from one of their many knowledgeable staff to find what I needed or to get helpful suggestions or directions on how to get something done, ie paint my kitchen cabinets. Can't recommend these folks highly enough.

Stephan Roberts: Amazing service! I accidentally ordered the wrong thing for a project and Thomas and the rest of the staff made sure I got what I needed and delivered it the same day.

Conor O'Brien: A+ customer service It’s not the biggest hardware store, but they have an impressive amount of tools and supplies in the shop. Really helpful with regard to lawn care projects in particular. Great knowledge of local soil and the best grass seed for the hot summers.

Anelise Cimino: This is my go to place for any household thing I need. It always has everything and is always stocked. But what makes me give this place five stars is the customer service. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is extremely nice, helpful and neighborly. I love going in with my dogs and saying hello. It brightens up my day to go in there and THAT'S a rare thing these days.

Lisa-Marie Brandt: Wonderful experience at this Annie's. Needed some screws and the person working in that aisle really helped me a lot. He took the time to listen and find just what I needed, and I solved my furniture problem when I got home! Thanks to the staff, who are all really helpful and nice! Will be returning for any future hardware/garden issues.

Zlatica Hoke: Zero stars. Of all the area paint stores, this one is the worst and the most expensive, the service the slowest, the selection of merchandise poorest. I get a faster service at ACE or Monarch with 10 people in the store than in this SW store with one or two shoppers in the store. The staff does not show interest in your needs. I asked about the quality of the masking tape (they are not all the same) and the seller said he did not understand the question. When I tried to be more specific and wanted to know if the tape was smooth like vinyl or more like crepe paper, he said he still did not understand. The shop caters only goods wanted by contractors albeit its location in a residential street where many people have small projects and do not need huge quantities. The only reason I ever go there is because it is a block from where I live, but every time I go I get distressed. It is worth driving further to get decent service and decent and reasonably priced merchandise.

Pauly Kerins: I’ll tell you what, the customer service in this store is TOP NOTCH!! My 1st visit I was a bit lost but Jay the manager walked me through what I needed for the size of the room I was painting. All I had to do was pick out the color, my man even gave me some pointers on how to prep properly. Legit!! My 2nd visit was even smoother. Jack one of the other managers recognized me and was able to look up my color that chose last time and got me out the door in less than 5 min. TOP NOTCH!! Here’s the kicker last visit they gave me a voucher for the food truck that they had parked outback!! Whaaaat!! Taco Taco Thanks Guys, That’s What Customer Service Is All About.

Gregory Pitman: Choose another Sherwin-Williams location. I tried ordering samples online (covd-19) but one of the colors I wanted says it can't be made even though it's a Sherwin-Williams color. At that point I called the store to ask if it could be done as a "Custom Color" order since that is an option on the website. The answer I kept getting was "If it's a designer color I can't make it" which I understand but he kept repeating this instead of answering my question and I'm still not sure if the color is a "designer color" or not as he kept repeating the same answer with no further discussion. At no time did the person ask "What is the color so we can double check if that's the issue" or "what is the color?" he just kept repeating the same thing "Designer colors can't be made into a sample". I still don't know if the color I wanted was a designer color or not. I went to another Sherwin-Williams where they were told me "it's an online glitch and we can certainly help you."
