Kadampa Meditation Center DC - OFFERING IN PERSON AND ONLINE CLASSES: what do users think?

Kelsang Pagma: Beautiful and very blessed! A truly incredible place to contemplate and meditate on heartfelt and practical teachings from Gen Demo and other Teachers while making connections with others traveling spiritual paths.

Robert Wolski: We had a wonderful time. Everyone was very nice, and made us feel very comfortable and welcome with it being our first visit.

Sara Blackburn: I went on a weekend retreat to KMC DC and it was wonderful. It was worth the drive down from Philadelphia. The temple is beautiful and easy to access. It is a very open place with welcoming people. The teachings and meditations were uplifting and contemporary. I was able to take what was taught and apply it to my life. It is a good place to go to heal and grow.

Amy Buttell: Kadampa Meditation Center - DC offers a quiet oasis of peace from stress and conflict. Located in the vibrant SW, near to the National’s Ballpark, KMC-DC offers a wide variety of classes, retreats and chanted prayers. Gen Demo, the resident teacher, provides profound teachings with grace and humor that directly apply to modern life. I moved to the DC area in May and found KMC-DC very welcoming. Every time I attend a class or retreat, I learn methods that I can immediately apply to my life to help reduce stress and anxiety. I’m very happy to be a part of this community and hope that thousands more in the DC area will learn about us and benefit from the timeless nature of Buddha’s teachings.

M D: Literally my new favorite place. The wisdom is life giving.

William Toriello: The Teacher, Gen Demo, gave practical teachings that opened my mind. I walked away with some profound teachings that I was able to take home and continue to use as a morning meditation. The guided meditations were very inspiring giving me the feeling of inner peace. Her teachings are light, to the point and mixed with humor.

Eli Campbell: This Meditation Center is great, and with locations across the DC Area from Capitol Hill to Adams Morgan their classes are really easy to catch any day of the week! The teachers are knowledgeable and work with you to find your personal path, and the seasonal workshops are always a treat if you can make it!

Lighthouse Yoga Center: what do users think?

Jennifer Holshue: I love Lighthouse. The teachers, the variety of classes, a ton of interesting workshops, the unpretentious vibe, and community-focused ethos have been a welcome presence in the neighborhood since coming to their Kennedy Street location. I try to practice with them at least a couple of times a week, and with online and in-person classes available, it’s convenient and fun. Everyone, teachers and students alike, have all always been kind and welcoming. The studio itself is always clean and obviously well cared for. Highly recommended!!

Kelsi Van Veen: Amazing community, tons of great classes and workshops, wonderful people. Just recently started taking classes here and I wish I wasn’t so busy because they have so many fun workshops to try! The classes I have taken have all been fantastic. It’s quite clear the studio has attracted a community of diverse, wonderful, and welcoming human beings. Pics are from an outdoor class with Jazmin a few weeks back. She was fantastic and connected with and recognized the needs of each one of her students. As someone that has only dabbled in yoga, I was glad to find a place that is unpretentious but that has extremely knowledgeable teachers to learn from!

Kelsi Van Veen: Lighthouse Yoga Center has been a wonderful find since moving to Petworth. Such a diverse community of people and they are so welcoming! I really enjoy being able to try many different types of yoga classes, and there seem to be a ton of great events on the schedule every month. Having the flexibility to take online classes from home as well has been great for my busy schedule. Highly recommend.

B C: Great Kundalini Yoga studio. Very authentic, with great teachers , feels very neighborhoody and reasonable. I just started and although a bit far for me, I look forward to coming . Just like other reviews stated , easy to register on line, friendly and true sense of sharing the art of yoga with community. Highly recommend!

Breathe Meditation: what do users think?

Mary Vargas: Breathe Meditation is my favorite way to recharge before the work week. Mahalakshmi is a brilliant teacher who engages your mind, body, and soul in quick 30 minute sessions that make you realize just how important it is to stop and breathe. I highly recommend!

Vineeth v: I came across Breathe Meditation during the midst of a challenging COVID-19 pandemic. I found the classes to be incredibly helpful. Mahalakshmi is an awesome teacher, articulate, patient and compassionate. She teaches breathing techniques in a simple manner. I highly recommend Breathe Meditation to learn the meditative nature of breath.

Soumya Devi: Mahalakshmi / the lead instructor chakra cleansing / breath exercise has helped me to overcome stress on a great extend. Highly recommended to do atleast a couple of sessions each week. Once again, thank you Maha for trying to make a change.

Resmi Capron: Positive: Professionalism, QualityI took Mahalakshmi’s pranayama class while suffering from back pain and stiffness. Listening to the ohm sounds and breathing flooded my brain with joyful thoughts and images. Her voice calmed my mind and brought me to a blissful meditative state.

Washington Yoga Center: what do users think?

Kaili Mang Jeyarajah: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityThis is a yoga studio that offers teachers plenty of creative freedom and support, so you have access to a broad range of yoga styles and many classes at different times of day. They have stayed faithfully online during the entire pandemic! We are looking forward to them carefully opening in person as well, very soon.

Susan Cooper: Positive: Communication, QualityLove, love, love this studio. I have been practicing here for 16 years. The variety of classes offered for all levels, the quality of the teachers, some who have been there as long as I have, and the low key welcoming vibe make this a perfect yoga studio. Highly recommend.

Emma Mehrabi: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityI’ve been going to WYC for several years now and absolutely love them. They transitioned flawlessly into pandemic yoga teaching online, and I’m so happy that my favorite instructor, Audrey Roxas, is still teaching for them. Can’t say enough great things!

Circle Yoga Cooperative: what do users think?

Leah Hudson: Circle Yoga is an incredible studio. The staff is very warm and welcoming, and the studio is open and clean. I was drawn to the studio because they were one of the few in the DC area that offered in-person prenatal yoga classes. I felt safe with vaccine and mask requirements in place. The instructor, Jen, is amazing and offers modifications to help each individual.

Jessica Ewers: We absolutely love Circle Yoga and have been taking classes for years! My almost 12 year old daughter has always been treated with kindness, compassion and love. The summer camp is the best! They incorporate art, movement, and positive self-awareness. I highly recommend this beautiful establishment.

Sheri Denkensohn: I began going to Circle Yoga remotely during the pandemic. I live in Virginia and would never be able to have access to the studio. It is fantastic! I specifically enjoy yoga Nidra and gentle yoga. The instructors are top-notch and class feels like a community. I would not go anywhere else! It is well worth the money.

Joan Alker: I love, love, love Circle Yoga and have been going there for years. The teachers are absolutely top notch and the studio is incredibly welcoming for people of all levels of experience. There are virtual and in person options. I have done yoga all over the country and this studio is very special.

Kristina Carson: Circle Yoga is such a special place for me and my family. I started taking their prenatal classes with my first and continued growing with their class offerings from there. So lucky to have a such a bright and happy studio close to home!

Dupont Circle Yoga: what do users think?

Erin Shea: Positive: Professionalism, QualityI miss heading to classes at DCY. The space is simple but serene. Teachers are skilled, helpful and most importantly, respectful. Having had a few bad experiences with what seem to be ego-driven yoga teachers/studios, a space like Dupont is not to be missed!

Ruizhi LIU: This yoga studio is located in a very cute neighborhood. I was visiting DC and took a deep flow class with Peter. I was deeply impressed by his teaching and really appreciate how he helped push my body just a little bit further to reach positions I wasn’t able to before. If you live in the area, or are just visiting (like me), I highly recommend you checking this place out. Plus, they have very attractive rate for first timers. There’s changing room and yoga mats you can use. So you don’t have to bring anything. P.S. their sister studio Georgetown Yoga, which I checked out during my last visit to DC was also very nice.

Demian Sanchez: My favorite yoga center in the Dupont area. The space is cozy, clean and comfortable and I like their vinyasa classes. The prices are also quite competitive, the best bang for your buck in the area

Roz R.: Beautiful space with great teachers. Love coming to this yoga studio and their sister studio, Georgetown Yoga. Also love their student discounts!

Stefanie G: Did $10 first timer class w Moriah and she slayed. This place has good vibes, mats to borrow, and a flow sequence that has me feeling so good. Get to it.

lindsay love: Gorgeous, calm space draws you away from the bustle of the city. Excellent instruction with a personal touch and attention to detail. Highly recommend

Ashley Morgan: Love this studio, great classes and one of the most scenic locations in DC.

Yoga District: what do users think?

daniel nathan: Yoga District is the perfect yoga studio. They have a wide variety of classes, and there is always something available that you would like. The instructors are incredibly clear, and sufficiently demanding. I have been taking classes from Fran at 14th St. for about 10 years, and she never fails to simulate. Her explanations are easy to follow, and she provides many options. And she’s just a great person.

eimear holton: Nice, clean, and welcoming studio. Yoga district has excellent teachers offering a wide range of classes all over the city! Plus quite inexpensive compared to most!

Stephanie Pratt: Love yoga district - very affordable compared to other studios in DC. In addition, they truly live the practice of yoga - practicing ahimsa, being kind to others, and building community. I took yoga teacher training here, and I am so happy I did. I have learned so much and have met so many wonderful people because of that experience. looking forward to spending more time with the yoga district family.

Natasha Hansen: Andreas Friday evening class is a great way to unwind into the weekend. central location and lots of natural light in the studio!

I McM: As a complete beginner this place has been super welcoming. Not absurdly expensive, chill, and a good guided class that understands that bodies have limits. Every teacher has a different vibe but they all have good skills!

Jaime Buzzeo: I attended teacher training with Yoga District and loved every minute of it. I also love the variety of classes Yoga District offers. It is the most affordable yoga in the district.

Dream Yoga Studio & Wellness: what do users think?

Donna Amedeo: This is a studio with years of experience and skill. This is not your pop up yoga studio. It is one with instructors who will guide you towards your goals. Your sessions will go beyond the typical 45 minute rush of most yoga classes as you have proper warm ups, stretches and relaxation lasting beyond an hour or more. I have been with Dream for over a decade and would not consider another studio even if it were free!

Chrissy Henderson: I love Dream Yoga! I was lucky enough to find Dream about 5 or 6 years ago - and I feel that the studio, the owner, and the community have had a strong, positive influence on my life. I was fortunate to have Luann and staff help guide me through many phases of my life so far: first, trying to become pregnant; then, through 2 healthy pregnancies; and now, into Mommy-hood! I have explored many different class options. Including Stretch and Strengthen, Restorative, Moderate, and a Toddler class with my daughter. I always leave Dream feeling like I just had an hour and a half massage at a Spa (at a fraction of the cost!). I hope to continue to go to Dream Yoga throughout many more phases of my life. And I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a great yoga studio in a supportive environment. Namaste.

Susan Youshock Pruyn: In these past 20 years I have been to many studios in several different states. When we moved to VA and I found Dream Yoga, it felt like home! A place where I am encouraged to be me and expand on my yoga practice first and foremost. Luann, the owner, has so much experience to share and a light-hearted approach to make the classes very expansive and fun. My family loves it so much that two of my three teenagers also attend. And, my husband has been to their open house and felt so at home that he is also considering a class. A must try if you live in the area!

Steve Marcom: I have been doing yoga for years, off and on taking classes. I am at the age where I qualify for senior preferences. So, I am most appreciative of a healthy body all day long. When I get up, yoga helps me stretch out everything that shrunk up or got achy during the night. Having a session with Luann once or twice a week awakens those areas of my body that need more attention. What I like about Dream Yoga is the personal attention to my individual needs and progress. Also, the spiritual element - having my body at peace during and after the practice. The props are well stocked, the room is a good size and, being in McLean, very convenient to my house. I have experienced several teachers at Dream Yoga - all praiseworthy. My wife started with Dream Yoga, and I am grateful that she encouraged me to give it a try. Now, I am a regular and grateful. My wife takes the gentle classes, and I take the intermediate. There are many opportunities for special classes to focus on different aspects. Highly recommended.

Dolly G. Mastrangelo: I have been going to Dream Yoga for about three years now. I cannot imagine life without it! The Strengthen and Stretch class is perfect! Luann is so wonderful guiding us though stretches and poses. Pushing us gently but reminding us that our body tells us what we can do. Each class explores different areas. All building on each other. It truly makes the problems of the world evaporate in the peace of the class. I look forward to increasing my abilities and I am sure that Luann and Dream Yoga will get me there!

Karrie McMillan: Love this studio. Used to go regularly and then "life" intervened. Trying to get back because it really made each day so much better.

CorePower Yoga: what do users think?

Rose D: Tyler is a great instructor. She should teach more classes. Unfortunately many get canceled. Lindsey and Tyler are also good but less intense. The studio is generally clean and the classes are comfortable in terms of spacing. Weekend classes are very packed but not as bad as the georgetown location, which is entirely unacceptable. The locker area is not particularly clean there and the overcrowding of classes is poorly managed (signing up for class won’t guarantee you a spot, nor will you want it once you walk in and see how jam packed it is). Dupont and city center are definitely better locations

Stefan Smith: I travel to DC regularly for business, and usually visit the CityCenter studio when I am in town. I decided to try Dupont Circle last Saturday because there was a great class time that really fit with my schedule (there seem to be a lot less C2 classes compared with YS). I really enjoyed my experience! The studio was easy to find and was conveniently located. I was warmly welcomed, and everything was clean and in great condition. I took C2 with Kia at 9:30. I was blown away to learn that this was her first class as a teacher! Kia was confident, poised, and easy to follow, and she definitely came across as caring and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed her flow; it was challenging, creative, and really allowed us to use and explore our space. As always, the class as a whole had a great positive energy; I have been using CP on Demand for the past year, and it has been great getting back into the studio with other people! I will definitely return to the Dupont Circle studio when I am back in DC!

Reggie Johnson: Took Kell’e class last week and it was amazing. She’s very knowledgeable and has amazing energy . I will be back again to take her class. I’m no yoga pro at all but she helped me with the tough position and I really appreciated that.

Jackie Moruzzi: My instructor was so friendly and encouraging--her 8am sculpt was packed and it was a great workout

Maria Webb: The instructors are friendly and welcoming, most importantly, they make sure you get the most of your practice.

Zae: This place is perfect! There are some great people that work here that are there to make sure you get the most out of your practice.

barre3: what do users think?

Kathleen Schwarz: After having my first child, I had a hard time finding an exercise class that allowed me to reconnect to my core muscles, adapt moves for my current abilities and range of motion, not strain a recovering pelvic floor, and still be challenging. The classes at barre3 have checked all these boxes! I’m already noticing much more stability in my core and the glute strength I’ve been missing after only one week of attending. I’d definitely recommend this for someone returning to exercise postpartum!

Nhu Girl: If you’re new, I like to say Barre3 is a mixture of Zumba, Yoga, and Ballet techniques combined. It’s fun, upbeat and challenging. They offer a lot of time slots so it’s easy to schedule a class into your day. Parking is easy to find and love their location.

Jessica Goodman: barre3 DC studios (Clarendon, Navy Yard, Union Station) consistently provide a stellar workout and a wide variety of options to keep me engaged and successful during workouts. The staff and members are very welcoming and non-judgemental. Highly recommend.

Elizabeth Charash: Great classes!! Love an early morning workout and it is so nice to have so many options throughout the week. The instructors are great and the studio is a nice respite from a busy day.

Mathea Pielemeier: Barre3 instructors are always friendly, energetic, and welcoming! It’s a great low impact workout and good combo of cardio & strength work.

Cally Perkins: Barre3 Navy Yard is a great experience. Impressive studio with plenty of space and fun instructors who keep you energized and going! Highly recommend.
