Lighthouse Yoga Center: what do users think?

Jennifer Holshue: I love Lighthouse. The teachers, the variety of classes, a ton of interesting workshops, the unpretentious vibe, and community-focused ethos have been a welcome presence in the neighborhood since coming to their Kennedy Street location. I try to practice with them at least a couple of times a week, and with online and in-person classes available, it’s convenient and fun. Everyone, teachers and students alike, have all always been kind and welcoming. The studio itself is always clean and obviously well cared for. Highly recommended!!

Kelsi Van Veen: Amazing community, tons of great classes and workshops, wonderful people. Just recently started taking classes here and I wish I wasn’t so busy because they have so many fun workshops to try! The classes I have taken have all been fantastic. It’s quite clear the studio has attracted a community of diverse, wonderful, and welcoming human beings. Pics are from an outdoor class with Jazmin a few weeks back. She was fantastic and connected with and recognized the needs of each one of her students. As someone that has only dabbled in yoga, I was glad to find a place that is unpretentious but that has extremely knowledgeable teachers to learn from!

Kelsi Van Veen: Lighthouse Yoga Center has been a wonderful find since moving to Petworth. Such a diverse community of people and they are so welcoming! I really enjoy being able to try many different types of yoga classes, and there seem to be a ton of great events on the schedule every month. Having the flexibility to take online classes from home as well has been great for my busy schedule. Highly recommend.

B C: Great Kundalini Yoga studio. Very authentic, with great teachers , feels very neighborhoody and reasonable. I just started and although a bit far for me, I look forward to coming . Just like other reviews stated , easy to register on line, friendly and true sense of sharing the art of yoga with community. Highly recommend!

Kadampa Meditation Center DC - OFFERING IN PERSON AND ONLINE CLASSES: what do users think?

Kelsang Pagma: Beautiful and very blessed! A truly incredible place to contemplate and meditate on heartfelt and practical teachings from Gen Demo and other Teachers while making connections with others traveling spiritual paths.

Robert Wolski: We had a wonderful time. Everyone was very nice, and made us feel very comfortable and welcome with it being our first visit.

Sara Blackburn: I went on a weekend retreat to KMC DC and it was wonderful. It was worth the drive down from Philadelphia. The temple is beautiful and easy to access. It is a very open place with welcoming people. The teachings and meditations were uplifting and contemporary. I was able to take what was taught and apply it to my life. It is a good place to go to heal and grow.

Amy Buttell: Kadampa Meditation Center - DC offers a quiet oasis of peace from stress and conflict. Located in the vibrant SW, near to the National’s Ballpark, KMC-DC offers a wide variety of classes, retreats and chanted prayers. Gen Demo, the resident teacher, provides profound teachings with grace and humor that directly apply to modern life. I moved to the DC area in May and found KMC-DC very welcoming. Every time I attend a class or retreat, I learn methods that I can immediately apply to my life to help reduce stress and anxiety. I’m very happy to be a part of this community and hope that thousands more in the DC area will learn about us and benefit from the timeless nature of Buddha’s teachings.

M D: Literally my new favorite place. The wisdom is life giving.

William Toriello: The Teacher, Gen Demo, gave practical teachings that opened my mind. I walked away with some profound teachings that I was able to take home and continue to use as a morning meditation. The guided meditations were very inspiring giving me the feeling of inner peace. Her teachings are light, to the point and mixed with humor.

Eli Campbell: This Meditation Center is great, and with locations across the DC Area from Capitol Hill to Adams Morgan their classes are really easy to catch any day of the week! The teachers are knowledgeable and work with you to find your personal path, and the seasonal workshops are always a treat if you can make it!

Erin Doolin: I went to the studio for the first time and it was a great experience! The yoga class was very good and the instructor did a great job with assists and helping me improve different stances and poses.

Ka'ila: Gopi is an amazing instructor. She embodies the true practice of yoga, and brings to her students a way to implement yoga not only through the asana practice, but in our daily lives.

Ezra Jay Kottler: Positive: QualityBhakti Yoga is such a great studio! Beautiful and calming ambiance, caring and knowledgeable instructors who are experts in the holistic practices of yoga - not just the physical asanas but also the mental and spiritual components.

Shelley Cazares: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityBhakti’s livestream classes are always fantastic, especially when I’m traveling away from DC! The video and audio are strong and clear, and it’s easy to connect. Thanks!

Ingrid Duran: It is one of the best yoga studios in the area with really great teachers who are connected to the spirit. Bhakti feels like home. I have been coming to this studio for two years and I absolutely get so much out of the yoga classes, the philosophical discussions at satsang, womens circle, yoga lunch, and a history of so many different workshops that Bhakti offers. I highly recommend this studio and all of the teachers there.

532YOGA: what do users think?

Dustin Phillips: What I love about Yoga 532 is the instructors do an amazing job of providing clear and simple instructions. They suggest modifications to each pose so that the classes always feel challenging for any skill level, while not overwhelming anyone who is still learning (like me). Even when the class is somewhat full, the instructors still offer personalized attention and help you get the most out of your stretches/poses. I have only been to classes by Suzanne, Maia, and Jon so far, but they have all been a pleasure to work with and I can’t wait to experience classes with some of the other instructors as well! Highly recommend!

Chloe Loving: This studio fosters community, self-care, growth and love in a time where all of that and more is needed! The teachers all deliver high quality instruction while coming from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Suzanne has done an impeccable job allowing even virtual students to feel present during class time. Her artistic taste and eclectic style keeps you coming back for more of that same energy. Great location, easy to walk to a local restaurant for an outdoor meal or consider wandering a few blocks to the river front for an evening in Old Towne.

Brittany Grant: I took the Sunday night candlelight flow with Aleasa and it was a fantastic first experience with the studio. Great atmosphere in a beautiful space and the instructor’s energy was phenomenal. I’ll definitely be returning when I’m back in town!

Asiha Grigsby: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality532 Yoga is a wonderful welcoming community of all walks and yoga experience. As soon as you cross the threshold you feel accepted into the space and encouraged to move through your practice exactly how your body leads you. I love this place. I am happy in the space. It is worth your time. Honor yourself by practicing here.

Priscilla Totten: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality532Yoga is like my second home. Working at home and having no commute has freed me up to take more classes, so I try to be at alignment, ashtanga, yin and flow classes each week. The instructors are excellent; I value the fellowship within the studio and the depth that my yoga practice has gained.

Yoga District: what do users think?

daniel nathan: Yoga District is the perfect yoga studio. They have a wide variety of classes, and there is always something available that you would like. The instructors are incredibly clear, and sufficiently demanding. I have been taking classes from Fran at 14th St. for about 10 years, and she never fails to simulate. Her explanations are easy to follow, and she provides many options. And she’s just a great person.

eimear holton: Nice, clean, and welcoming studio. Yoga district has excellent teachers offering a wide range of classes all over the city! Plus quite inexpensive compared to most!

Stephanie Pratt: Love yoga district - very affordable compared to other studios in DC. In addition, they truly live the practice of yoga - practicing ahimsa, being kind to others, and building community. I took yoga teacher training here, and I am so happy I did. I have learned so much and have met so many wonderful people because of that experience. looking forward to spending more time with the yoga district family.

Natasha Hansen: Andreas Friday evening class is a great way to unwind into the weekend. central location and lots of natural light in the studio!

I McM: As a complete beginner this place has been super welcoming. Not absurdly expensive, chill, and a good guided class that understands that bodies have limits. Every teacher has a different vibe but they all have good skills!

Jaime Buzzeo: I attended teacher training with Yoga District and loved every minute of it. I also love the variety of classes Yoga District offers. It is the most affordable yoga in the district.

Radiance Yoga: what do users think?

Synamon: I love this studio! The staff is nice/accommodating and the space itself is welcoming. The instructors all have their own style but make you feel comfortable and confident in their own way. The Gentle-Restorative Yoga is my favorite so far. I also like radiance because it’s super close to my house and they have classes available throughout the day (during the week and weekends) which makes it easier for me to take classes before or after work. They offer a variety of classes (Beginner, Kundalini, Prenatal, Yin, Flow, Strength&Core, etc,.) there’s something for everyone! They’re also probably the cheapest in the area - I’m currently using the new member pass which was $29 but Im def going to switch over to monthly once it runs out - at $99 a month. So happy I found Radiance!

Annette Antonelli: The thing about Radiance Yoga is all in the name. I’ve been a regular for 2 months now and have yet to see a day where the staff and teachers are not radiant. And regardless of how I arrived, I always feel radiant after class. I can’t think of a way they could be doing a better job at any of it. The classes are superb (with Kundalini offerings twice a day seven days a week!) the ease of scheduling with the app is awesome, and the boutique and tea bar and all the finishing touches are just right. I wish I could give 6 out of 5 stars!

Naomi Duff: I was totally impressed with this place. The studio is beautiful and quite spacious. There is a wide variety of classes including Yin and Kundalini. The teachers have varied styles but all are quite good and very instructive... lots of helpful adjustments!

Sean: Excellent instructors in a nice space. There are several rooms - sometimes accommodating several different classes going on at the same time. This place has a variety of different styles of classes. Kundalini was an interesting first experience here.

Colby Cooper: Radiance Yoga is such a beautiful and inviting space to practice yoga. The teachers here are knowledgable and friendly and there are a variety of class offerings to choose from. I feel renewed each time I leave Radiance - this studio holds a special place in my heart!

Hanna Schmittat: Love the space!! I fully recommend Claudia’s class!!! She’s so in tune and lovely to listen to! Such a smooth class! Plenty of modifications to poses, different levels of challenges. I loved it!

Flo Lavaran: They offer a nice variety of classes, as well as 6 week series.

Sarah Kushnir: Great studio with a ton of options and times!

Kerry Bray: Beautiful space. Beautiful class!

The Mindfulness Center: what do users think?

aneesa hameed: Walking on the path of healing Personal Notes from London, England. Sitting in Regent’s Park last week on a glorious summer evening I checked in with myself, asked how I felt in the immediate now and sensed a beautiful stillness. How different this was to the anxiety, tension, pain, despair and agitation I felt seven months ago. This feeling of warmth and ease nudged me to remember with deep gratitude, The Mindfulness Center in Bethesda. This haven with its beautiful studio and highly accomplished teachers, mentors and therapists. As Dr. Debbie Norris, the Founder explained, that The Mindfulness Center, wellness and alternate therapy, is more than just a place of healing, it is an intervention or Interception to prevent future ill health and mental conditions. She is one of the most inspiring and exhilarating teachers with a grand personality, that I have met. Special thank you to all the teachers I was fortunate to be taught by; to Tania and her inspiring discussions of Spring and earth energies during our yoga sessions, to Robin for her therapeutic approach to yoga with ease, her beautiful voice chanting mantras of universal love and peace, to Ashira whose empathy, gentleness and softness overwhelmed me in her gentle yoga classes, to John King with his delightful guided meditations that unchained the imagination, to the supremely gifted Reiki Grand Master Aurora Hutchinson whose passion for Mary Oliver’s poetry I share, to James Foulkes whom I met once at a workshop conducted by Aurora and himself, but sensed the healer in him - but - most of all to Michael Basdavanos. Mike reduced the pain from my ankle and foot almost to nothing with his Traditional Chinese Medicine Therapy. I learned balance and grounding in his QiGong and Tai Chi classes and special breathing techniques during his Meditation hour. Most of all with his quiet but very powerful energy healing, he brought me back my feelings and sense of self-worth and self-acceptance. Much love, light and blessings to all and may success always ride alongside The Mindfulness Center.

Joan Hurley: The Mindfulness Center has improved my outlook on life. I had no idea that I would be able to separate myself from thoughts that weren’t helpful to me by taking several deep breaths. Then I make the choice about how much attention I will pay to the thought. It’s a choice I can make. It’s also helpful when I have procedures like taking staples from my head. The last five years of my life have been full of joy from this practice.

Alexandra C: Absolutely thankful for their continued and consistently high-quality services. The owner, Dr. Norris, has profound knowledge on all subjects pertaining to alternative medicine, as well as all services offered at TMC. I have partaken in both the SOMA Meditation Teacher Training, as well as the Yoga Alliance 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training programs. As much as I am looking forward to in-person sessions again, I am privileged to participate in various classes, courses and workshops, via Zoom.

nirupama sista: The Mindfulness Center is a wonderful place and has many yoga classes at all levels. Teachers are superb, especially Dave, and the community is very friendly. I have attended their meditation classes and would like to attend more, if my schedule permits. They also have massage services which I have been meaning to take advantage of. Highly recommend it for anyone who wants to be practice mindful yoga.

Robin Glantz: The Mindfulness Center has a wonderful array of yoga, meditation, tai chi and chi gong classes - to fit every level - plus many personalized services we can tap into. It is a terrific partner in a wellness or healing journey.

james alder: The Mindfulness Center provides such a wonderful experience. I have so enjoyed the Meditation class that they have on Saturday Mornings! It is a terrific way to kick off my Weekend and center myself after a busy week. The instructors are absolutely amazing!

Virginia Hill: The Mindfulness Center is a gem! I enjoy their yoga and meditation classes. I also went through the Meditation Teacher Training program and would highly recommend it to those who want to deepen their practice and teach others. Thanks to Debbie and the team for this wonderful mission!
