Capital Photography Center: what do users think?

Mo: I decided to take a class on how to use external flash. It was a last minute decision and they were able to accommodate me. The class was great and very informative. Corey the instructor took our questions and guided us through different exercises. I learned a lot and feel more confident in my skills!

Washington Photo Focus: what do users think?

Carolina Franco: I took Eliot’s introductory DSLR course online via zoom and it was very convenient to be able to attend the lessons from my own living room. I had a little experience with slr photography several years ago but not much experience with my new dslr camera. Other people in the class had no photography experience at all. The small class size gave lots of opportunities to ask questions, and Eliot also gave feedback on the photographs of each of the students. Overall I learned a lot about how to use my camera, and don’t think I’ll be using the auto exposure anymore. Hope to take other courses with Eliot in the future.

Maria Peña: I stumbled upon Eliot´s photography classes through another website and I decided to give it a try. I´m glad I took the class, as Eliot took the fear out of using the many features on my camera, past the auto or program modes! He has a great ability to explain complex processes in a very simple manner, blending in personal anecdotes and amazing artistry. From the very first class, he shows great passion for this craft, which is very contagious! I´ll sign up for more classes down the road, and I´d recommend that you do, too!

Cynthia Corio-Poli: My three session class with Eliot of Washington Photo Focus was just what I needed to clear up some of the mystery of digital photography. Eliot is a terrific teacher, very patient, and always answering questions to make the experience a worthwhile pleasure. I look forward to continuing.

Peter Foiles: I have worked with Eliot for over a year and he has a wonderful way of blending artistry and technique in an understandable way, a great mentor.

David Spanburg: Eliot is a great instructor and photographer.

Lincoln Photography: what do users think?

District Biscuit: I hired Rachel for my company last weekend and am so glad I choose her. I was shopping around and had different options but Rachel was responsive and had a portfolio that impressed me. She communicated before and after the shoot, was on-time, professional and friendly. The photos are outstanding and I plan to use her again. As a small business owner, I know that finding the right people and be hard, I am lucky to have a great photographer in my network.

Nicholas Battaglia: My fiance found Rachel for our engagement photos. Her prices are very reasonable, she was a joy to work with for the actual shoot, and promptly got our pictures back to us, not to mention the photos were wonderful.

Dan Goodman: I chose Lincoln Photography for my professional head shot because of the outstanding reviews on Google and Yelp and reasonable rates. It was a great decision. Rachel is really easy to work with and takes fantastic pictures. I chose the mini session, which was perfect for me. In a surprisingly short amount of time, she was able to guide me through a wide variety of angles and perspectives for me to choose from, and she took the time to arrange the proofs with her favorites on top.

justmejune22: Rachel is the best photographer you can find. She is energetic, very professional and she takes fantastic pictures. Our family had a photo session with her and despite the fact that we have a very energetic toddler and a 4 months old, she managed to capture some awesome, spontaneous pictures. Highly recommend!

Rachel Gonçalves: Rachel Lincoln is one of the best photographers I worked with. She is very sensitive to subtly changes on facial expressions and/or the environment. Great professional!

Billy R: Rachel has a talent for capturing the right moment. She is flexible and patient. Her knowledge of the Washington D.C. area saved me a lot of time when deciding where to shoot. I will certainly do business with her again!

Damon Bowe Photography: what do users think?

Lisa L: WOW! Just WOW! Had to schedule a graduation photo shoot from Texas for my daughter in DC. Not only did Damon make every step so easy but after talking with him on the phone and getting to know him a bit I was even more excited to work with him. He is exceptional...Literally, no other way to describe him. His work style, sense of humor, creativity, patience, you name it are all incredible. The pics we received were outstanding too! Keep in mind that we had no easy task for him... juggling a blended family, a morning when bad weather threatened and a senior pup, he juggled it all effortlessly and made for one of the best and most fun photo sessions I have ever been a part of. I had initially chosen Damon based on the ratings on here and boy they did not let me down. If you are looking for someone with imagination, great communication and a fantastic eye for capturing a special moment in your life book Damon now!!! You will NOT regret it! I only regret that he is so far away from us in Texas..... :)

Margie Dwight: Damon Bowe is an incredibly talented photographer! I arrived for my headshot session and he was friendly, accommodating and explained the whole process to me as this was my first headshot experience. Although admittedly self conscious, Damon talked me through as he was taking photographs. We looked at photos together and decided whether to take more or whether we had winners. He was encouraging and enthusiastic. He captured my image and most of all, captured my essence. I felt really good after the session and felt confident that the photo we decided upon was the best to present to the world. I cannot recommend Damon highly enough. I will definitely call upon his talents in the future. He also couldn’t have been nicer! You are in very capable, experienced and gifted hands with Damon!

Lauren Vorisek: Although I was initially a bit skeptical about getting professional headshots taken as I embarked on a career change, I quickly realized how valuable a good photographer is. Damon was not only friendly and professional, but he has great advice about angles and how to pose. He was able to help me pull off that illusive mix of appearing confident without seeming cocky, and serious yet approachable. Damon has a great eye for detail and he has the patience to help steer you to the perfect look. I couldn’t be happier with the results. The hardest part was picking my favorite look.

Freed Photography: what do users think?

Dusky: The PERFECT Wedding Photographers! Tatiana and Bryan are fabulous. Tatiana took the time to make sure that she surveyed the winery/outdoor venue where my daughter, Brooklyn and her now husband, Levi, were married last summer. It was an evening wedding so the colors of the sky were ever changing; she had all the special equipment for this. The photos are stunning. There are so many perfect ones to choose from! We Are still in awe of the artistic details that Tatiana was able to capture. A year later and we cannot stop smiling! Our family has used Freed Photography twice for Weddings - 2010 (Bryan) and 2018. I recommend them to every bride and groom! Thank you for turning my daughter’s wedding into a tangible moment. Bryan and Tatiana’s talent are unmatched!

Brooklyn Crouse: Tatiana was my wedding photographer, and she was amazing! She is very hardworking, and my photos turned out gorgeous! It’s been two years since my wedding, and I’m still obsessed with my photos! They capture my husband and I’s love for each other perfectly. I cannot say enough good things! My mom gifted the photos to me, and she loves them too! Worth every penny. 👰🏻🤵🏼

Micaylah Loebig: I had such a wonderful experience at Freed Photography. The staff is so lovely as well as the owners Carla and Neil. The photographer who took my senior photos, Bryan, did such an amazing job. I truly felt confident and more beautiful after the photo shoot, he was creative with each shot and made sure I was happy with each set of photos after they were taken. Freed is definitely a great place to get your photos taken at! I highly recommend!

Imagery by Erin: what do users think?

Caroline Leverett: I hired Erin for my wedding photographer and she did such an amazing job! The pictures came out fabulous! She had the exact look I was going for and the pictures truly looked like they were suppose to be on the cover of a bridal magazine! She also did a great job with direction and getting everyone who was getting their picture taken to take her direction. I would definitely recommend her!

Elizabeth Crunk: My fiance and I had the pleasure of working with Erin for our engagement photos and had a wonderful experience all around. In fact, he and I both agreed that our engagement session with Erin was one of our favorite things we did during wedding planning! Erin is very professional, responsive, and talented -- our engagement photos were stunning. I especially appreciate how she helped us pose for photos and created a fun environment for our photo session. As an added bonus, she loves working with dogs -- even our energetic Boston Terrier! We highly recommend Erin and would work with her again in a heartbeat.

Tom V.: Hiring a photographer for our wedding was a decision that we took incredibly seriously. We read tons of reviews, but without working with someone or getting recommendations from friends, how can you really know? Erin worked with us to make sure we were comfortable, and let us do our engagement shoot before signing a wedding contract. She’s incredibly professional, and we were so happy with the photos. We got her on contract after receiving our engagement photos, and we’re so glad we did. Working with her directly meant she had flexibility to work with us on all the details. She knew going into the wedding exactly what we wanted, and delivered. She made sure we stood up straight, that we were where we needed to be at all times, and the pictures came out better than we could have hoped. She worked quietly in the background all night, pulled us aside when needed, and was just constantly professional. We’ve received a number of unprompted compliments from family members on Erin. Not just on the pictures, but on the way she worked during the wedding itself. While we’re still waiting on the final set of pictures, I would definitely recommend Erin.

Stephanie Halsne: We hired Erin for our engagement photo session right DC opened back up after COVID. She was able to schedule us quickly despite dealing with a ton of reschedules. The day of the shoot she was super accommodating and patient working with us as we brought along our two dogs. She even brought a squeaky toy to hold their attention! The price was super reasonable, and Erin was able to get our photos back to us 9 days before we expected. Would recommend!

Chelsea S: Erin was great! We used her for our engagement photos first, and then signed on for our wedding photos. She was incredibly responsive and easy to work with. We were very unaccustomed to being in front of the camera, especially for formal/professional pictures. She gave us excellent directions and made us feel much more at ease. We loved how our engagement photos turned out, but (almost) more importantly, they showed us what poses worked best and what we liked and didn’t like. We met with Erin to discuss all we’d learned during the engagement shoot, and she was really receptive, and excited that the first photo session had served its purpose of being a test run for the wedding. For the big day itself, Erin was amazing! She was, of course, prompt, and prepped and ready to go. She had visited our venue a few days prior and knew exactly where she wanted to photograph us. I (the bride) was running late, so she used this time to snap pics of my accessories, flowers, and dress. But she was also so much fun to chat with, and helped me stay calm! She remembered all the things we mentioned from our engagement session, and gave us lots of posing cues, and reminders to stand up straight and turn this way or that way, to make us look our best and most natural. With so many other things to remember on our big day, it was a huge weight off to have her take care of all that! We don’t have our full gallery of wedding photos yet, but the ‘sneak peek’ she sent out is awesome. It’s a really nice touch that she sends you a quick sample after your photo session, and has enabled us to share some beautiful memories with family and friends. We’re so excited to see the rest!

crystal young: C: My Fiancé had been talking about wanting to get pictures done. We live in separate states, so the planning was extremely last minute. Erin made it work for my schedule and when he was going to be in town. She responded so quickly and provided so much information so that I was able to surprise my fiancé. The photos were amazing and showed her abilities to make us both move so the photos come out perfect! Thank you! K: I would highly recommend Erin. She is a constant professional. She takes her time and really listens to what her customers want. Erin arrived with a game plan when my beautiful fiancée surprised me with engagement session. She took the time to understand what we were looking for and figured out how to capture our special moment. The photos came out amazing!

Shony R: UPDATE 3/24/19: Long story short- we never received our "free prints" for the "positive reviews" we were requested to leave BY Erin, the photographer. After multiple attempts and paying for additional prints, Erin has dropped off the face of the earth, will not respond to any questions regarding what happened, and we still have not received our wedding photos (after providing 2 separate addresses)or a refund. While she did seem a bit impatient during our shoot, I assumed it was because of the humidity and time crunch we were under for the location. Now I believe that it was a part of her nature in that she did not want to put forth max effort to ensure her clients were satisfied with their results. Mostly beautiful photos, but not a professional experience overall. In my opinion, the experience before, during, and after contribute to the review. _______________________________ From beginning (planning a wedding in 2 months) to end, Erin was great! She made herself available to our special day and helped me be at ease with not knowing how this whole thing was supposed to go. She gave my husband and I exactly what we wanted (candid/depth/classic shots). And although she worked alone, based on our photos you would think there were two of her. She withstood the humidity with us, seemed mostly patient with our not so co-ordinated guests and wedding party, and let us know that she was there for us....not just to do a job. I would recommend Erin to anyone looking for an experienced, versatile, and timely photographer for their special day! She truly captures the moments that capture your heart. Thank you so much Erin!! - The Rocketts

Rachel Phoebus: We are very happy not just with how our pictures turned out, but also with the whole experience. Erin will make you feel comfortable and confident. She is able to discern with just a little feedback what types of shots you will prefer (and she welcomes and seeks out this feedback). Her photos are natural yet romantic. As one of our friends described, “they look so fairy tale.” We definitely would consider asking her for other photography services in the future.

Kate Shoemaker: We chose Amanda to take our newborn photos after seeing her amazing gallery and good reviews, and she exceeded every expectation we had. Amanda captured truly special and extremely high quality photos of our new baby. The experience in her studio was so fun and stress-free. Amanda absolutely has “the touch” to make both newborns and their parents 100% comfortable. Not to mention the endless selection of props and cute outfits, which she helped us narrow down but allowed us to make our own choices on. We received the final photos on time and will treasure them forever!

Dominion Camera: what do users think?

Sherry Garay: I am an amateur photographer and I used to drive out to Burke to another local camera shop. I decided to give Dominion a try, and I am so glad I did! This is a locally owned “mom and pop” business and it feels good to support a small local business, instead of putting more money in the pocket of a man who wants to play around in outer space. The staff at the store are super knowledgeable. One of them used to work for Canon and can tell you everything you need to know about Canon gear. They helped me make my decision on moving to a new mirrorless camera. I believe they are the only local shop that does their film developing on site. They also do black and white developing by hand. My prints look better than they have in years! They also sell an array of cool films to play around with. I picked up a roll of Dracula film from Romania. They also take passport photos and guarantee them as acceptable by the State Department. I also just found out their classes have started back up and they have a studio space upstairs they rent out. Seriously, if you are a pro photographer or just an amateur like me, then support this local business. This is a great camera shop, with just about anything you could possibly need, including a used gear bargain shelf!

Jessica Border: Who ever said the customer service was good is delusional. I went in to get my film developed. He asked me if I wanted prints or digital and I said both. He told me that he can’t do both and if I wanted it, I need to do prints first, then when I come to pick up, I can order the digital copies. He was so rude to me. I won’t ever come hear again, I was literally about to walk out from the horribleness if this experience, which is a real shame.

Mike Tike: Gary is the best. I was looking for ZV-E10 ( sold out everywhere you can check that right now) but I swore it was sold out. He told me hd actually had one and the color I wanted. He looked all over the store and finally found it. That’s customer service you won’t find at Best Buy. I’m so happy with my purchase this is the only place I’m going to for camera equipment and vlogging gear.

W Russell: I found this place by walking around Falls Church. For a photographer or anyone interested in any level of photography, this place has it all! Prices are reasonable and the customer service is 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!! Gary, the owner, is super friendly and knowledgeable in his products. GREAT PLACE!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Keep up the great work Dominion!

Michael Ryan: Really good experience over several visits to Dominion Camera. The team, especially Gary, are really knowledgeable and helpful. Some highlights: - Fixed my film camera for free after taking it in - Good film development and quick turnaround - Spent several days and hours going over a new camera to purchase. They were helpful and patient to make sure I got what would fit my needs. Highly recommend.

sahra ahmad: I’ve been meaning to write this review for a while now. I love supporting small businesses, and this one is one of my favorites. It is right near my office and taking my film to get developed and print is so nice. I appreciate that unlike the big corporations (CVS, Walmart, etc) they only make you pay for the photos that they found, so if a piece of film was bad, they don’t charge you for a print of that. I also enjoy that it is so quickly done! Unlike the big corporations that take up to like 2 weeks, they took only a fraction of that time. The quality of the picture paper was nice too- I always go with a matte finish. Nicest people ever work there, and overall I would highly recommend! I know this sounds like a fake review, but I promise this is 100% legit. I can’t wait to take more of my film to get developed.
