Ajay Kori: Deeba was incredible! Hired him to capture a surprise proposal and he went above and beyond. The week leading up to the event he helped brainstorm locations for the best photos and opine on strategy. Walking up to our chosen proposal spot, I was initially worried because someone was sitting near where I was going to propose and would be in the shot. Turns out, it was Deeba making sure nobody else got in the area for the perfect proposal. He was so clandestine my fiancee had no idea anything was about to happen until I was on one knee. She was so surprised she never took off her glasses during the actual proposal and he noticed and right after we were done kissing had us quickly re-enact the moment without glasses or her purse. The shot speaks for itself. Would highly, highly recommend for anything important you want to capture in the most beautiful way possible.
Lauren Kuhlik: I would highly recommend Deeba as a wedding photographer! He was extremely easy to work with and very responsive. My partner and I had a very small wedding and did not want too much focus on the formal photographs. Deeba was able to set up a perfect "first look" before the ceremony, got through the formal portraits/family photos quickly, and was able to quietly take photos of the ceremony and post-ceremony celebration, without being in the way at all. All of the photos are extremely "us." He was able to really capture the joy and laughter as well as get some beautiful intimate shots of us and took great photos of our families.

Lisa L: WOW! Just WOW! Had to schedule a graduation photo shoot from Texas for my daughter in DC. Not only did Damon make every step so easy but after talking with him on the phone and getting to know him a bit I was even more excited to work with him. He is exceptional...Literally, no other way to describe him. His work style, sense of humor, creativity, patience, you name it are all incredible. The pics we received were outstanding too! Keep in mind that we had no easy task for him... juggling a blended family, a morning when bad weather threatened and a senior pup, he juggled it all effortlessly and made for one of the best and most fun photo sessions I have ever been a part of. I had initially chosen Damon based on the ratings on here and boy they did not let me down. If you are looking for someone with imagination, great communication and a fantastic eye for capturing a special moment in your life book Damon now!!! You will NOT regret it! I only regret that he is so far away from us in Texas..... :)
Margie Dwight: Damon Bowe is an incredibly talented photographer! I arrived for my headshot session and he was friendly, accommodating and explained the whole process to me as this was my first headshot experience. Although admittedly self conscious, Damon talked me through as he was taking photographs. We looked at photos together and decided whether to take more or whether we had winners. He was encouraging and enthusiastic. He captured my image and most of all, captured my essence. I felt really good after the session and felt confident that the photo we decided upon was the best to present to the world. I cannot recommend Damon highly enough. Lauren Vorisek: Although I was initially a bit skeptical about getting professional headshots taken as I embarked on a career change, I quickly realized how valuable a good photographer is. Damon was not only friendly and professional, but he has great advice about angles and how to pose. He was able to help me pull off that illusive mix of appearing confident without seeming cocky, and serious yet approachable. Damon has a great eye for detail and he has the patience to help steer you to the perfect look. I couldn’t be happier with the results. The hardest part was picking my favorite look.

dekayla johnson: It really doesn’t get any better. I have the upmost respect for the company they are amazing. So very professional and organized two of the vest things a company can be in my opinion. They are very respectful as well and made me feel so comfortable. Nafa was my photographer she was so professional and easy going she made everything so perfect help me through my poses and posture just everything, she made me feel so beautiful like I was a model!! The assistants Sarah and there was another one I forgot her name they were so helpful and professional as well. Every penny I paid was worth it. The experience was amazing so fun. They provided literally almost everything from wardrobe, accessories jewelry, props, etc. They are so patient and understanding I had to take a small break from getting overwhelmed and exhausted and they were so understanding and waited till I was ready I was shooting for 2 hours which was great because I was able to get so many pictures. My time at Judah Avenue was perfect and I would recommend anyone to book an appointment with this company. I can go on and on but I will leave it here. Thank you so much for the experience I can’t wait to get my photos!!!

The girls she works with for hair and makeup are a ton of fun and set the right tone for a chill shoot- even if it’s something you’ve never done. The WHOLE time, Lauren guides you through the poses down to facial expressions so you never have to feel like you don’t know what you’re doing. Robert Kwiat: Tim and Carla are incredibly friendly and talented. I recently graduated college and decided to give modeling a shot. I booked a portfolio shoot with Tim, and Carla did my hair and makeup. At this point, I had never been in a professional shoot, and I was out of my comfort zone. They were very friendly, and they helped me pose and get some good shots. The pics at the end of the shoot (after they helped me get the hang of it) were so much better than the ones at the beginning. I had a lot of fun with them. After, I used the pics to start working with an agency near me, and I have my first paid shoot coming up. Such a great team highly recommend.

Inna Mikhailova: Working with Tim exceeded all my expectations. In addition to a phenomenal artistic talent, Tim has a broad range of experience. Whatever industry you work in, he has probably photographed people in it. His advice on wardrobe, background, posing and all other details is based on genuine knowledge of what it takes for you to put your best foot forward in your field. Also, I really liked how incredibly efficient he was time wise without making me feel rushed at all. I felt incredibly comfortable and heard throughout the entire shoot. The vibe was “take all the time you need to get a picture you like.” But, Tim being an amazing photographer gave me pictures I LOVED nearly right away. I added the hair and make up service. Although, I’m pretty good at daily makeup, good photo make up and hair takes knowledge I simply don’t have. Carla was fantastic and very detail oriented. Bring pictures of what you like and she takes it from there. Warning: she’s so good you might never want to do your own make up and hair again. Not worrying about sweating my foundation off or my hair going flat/frizzy during the drive there was already 100% worth it. Someone standing by behind the scenes to fix anything I didn’t like the look of in the picture right away was a great bonus. Overall, fantastic experience that produced top notch headshot pictures!

Ashlee Whitmire: Working with Carol was one of the best decisions I’ve made. She photographed my husband’s Marine Corps promotion at the reflecting pool and the entire process was more than I could have hoped for. All of her emails were professional, transparent, and made me excited to work with her. Everyone that attended/participated in the ceremony talked about how great she was and that having her was a great addition. She processed the photos quickly and they were each stunning. I would work with her again without any hesitation. She is worth it!
Josh Tarrant: Carol was perfect! I reached out a few months prior to a ceremony in the National Archives Museum of DC. It’s a low-light room where historical documents are displayed and no personal photography is allowed for their protection (no flash). Carol was easy to work with, engaging with my guests, and I am thrilled with the end result. Her price was fair, and although I can buy prints through her site, she did not require me to. She was very responsive, friendly and captured beautiful images of a treasured memory I can hold on to forever. Highly recommend!

Jenny Pozinsky: Let me begin by saying that we could not have made a better decision than to have Potok’s World Photography capture our wedding day. Pete and Anji checked off every single box for us… quality of work, responsiveness, likeability, etc. We fell in love with their style as soon as we laid eyes on their online portfolio. Their quality of work was apparent, so we were already more than interested… and this is before we got to know them. Pete and Anji’s work is nothing short of remarkable, but we were so happy to find out that as good of photographers that they are, they are even better people! We got to know Pete and Anji through a number of zoom meetings before the wedding and they just made us SO comfortable. They are easy to talk to, and their banter with one another is charming. They are such a fun and loving couple, and they work very well together. They acted as an extension of our wedding party, and were so effortless in their ability to capture all our special moments, we didn’t even know they were there! Total pros. We were blown away when we received our album, and our families went nuts about every single picture. What we love most about our photos is that Pete and Anji capture FEELINGS. Sure, there were plenty of “posed” photos (couples, family pictures, etc.) but their action shots are pure gold. Check out their website, you will see for yourself. To sum it all up, we went out looking for a photographer, and we are so proud to say that we came back with BEAUTIFUL photos, and a pair of lifelong friends.

After our initial consultation we were immediately impressed with their presentation, knowledge, and organization of their information. We began planning a destination wedding and wanted to have them as part of our special day. They were able to capture all of the photos we wanted without being asked and even enjoyed the reception with us as we danced the night away! Anita Paredes: We booked Natasha for our engagement photos, and also to celebrate crossing the 10 year mark of being a couple! Working with Natasha was such a dream. Felt so supported and informed throughout the whole process. Also really am in love with her photography style (documentary/photojournalist), it is just so gorgeous!! I really wanted those intimate moments to be captured, and she nails it. Our session was fantastic, it was filled with laughs and was such a fun time. We felt comfortable and at ease. Caroline Leverett: I hired Erin for my wedding photographer and she did such an amazing job! The pictures came out fabulous! She had the exact look I was going for and the pictures truly looked like they were suppose to be on the cover of a bridal magazine! She also did a great job with direction and getting everyone who was getting their picture taken to take her direction. I would definitely recommend her!

We got her on contract after receiving our engagement photos, and we’re so glad we did. Working with her directly meant she had flexibility to work with us on all the details. She knew going into the wedding exactly what we wanted, and delivered. She made sure we stood up straight, that we were where we needed to be at all times, and the pictures came out better than we could have hoped. She worked quietly in the background all night, pulled us aside when needed, and was just constantly professional. We’ve received a number of unprompted compliments from family members on Erin. Not just on the pictures, but on the way she worked during the wedding itself. While we’re still waiting on the final set of pictures, I would definitely recommend Erin.
Stephanie Halsne: We hired Erin for our engagement photo session right DC opened back up after COVID. She was able to schedule us quickly despite dealing with a ton of reschedules. The day of the shoot she was super accommodating and patient working with us as we brought along our two dogs. She even brought a squeaky toy to hold their attention! The price was super reasonable, and Erin was able to get our photos back to us 9 days before we expected. Would recommend!
Chelsea S: Erin was great! We used her for our engagement photos first, and then signed on for our wedding photos. She was incredibly responsive and easy to work with. We were very unaccustomed to being in front of the camera, especially for formal/professional pictures. She gave us excellent directions and made us feel much more at ease. We loved how our engagement photos turned out, but (almost) more importantly, they showed us what poses worked best and what we liked and didn’t like. We met with Erin to discuss all we’d learned during the engagement shoot, and she was really receptive, and excited that the first photo session had served its purpose of being a test run for the wedding. For the big day itself, Erin was amazing! She was, of course, prompt, and prepped and ready to go. She had visited our venue a few days prior and knew exactly where she wanted to photograph us. I (the bride) was running late, so she used this time to snap pics of my accessories, flowers, and dress. But she was also so much fun to chat with, and helped me stay calm! She remembered all the things we mentioned from our engagement session, and gave us lots of posing cues, and reminders to stand up straight and turn this way or that way, to make us look our best and most natural. With so many other things to remember on our big day, it was a huge weight off to have her take care of all that! We don’t have our full gallery of wedding photos yet, but the ‘sneak peek’ she sent out is awesome. It’s a really nice touch that she sends you a quick sample after your photo session, and has enabled us to share some beautiful memories with family and friends. We’re so excited to see the rest!

Dusky: The PERFECT Wedding Photographers! Tatiana and Bryan are fabulous. Tatiana took the time to make sure that she surveyed the winery/outdoor venue where my daughter, Brooklyn and her now husband, Levi, were married last summer. It was an evening wedding so the colors of the sky were ever changing; she had all the special equipment for this. The photos are stunning. There are so many perfect ones to choose from! We Are still in awe of the artistic details that Tatiana was able to capture. A year later and we cannot stop smiling! Our family has used Freed Photography twice for Weddings - 2010 (Bryan) and 2018. I recommend them to every bride and groom! Thank you for turning my daughter’s wedding into a tangible moment. ReCreate Artworks: This is the best art gallery in DC in my opinion. It’s beautiful, unique and calming. There’s an atrium in the center that provides a dreamy place to sit and rest. My favorite thing about this gallery, however, is that there’s conservationists you can watch at work. When you walk into this museum it’s like being in a different world. Each space creates such a unique atmosphere and is breathtaking to say the least.
Klau Pao: The Gallery is amazing, you will probably spend 2 hours there. It has very beautiful portraits, one of my favorites was Gilbert Stuart painting of George Washington and everything related to Abraham Lincoln as well as the amazing portrait of the Supreme Court Justices! Wow what a place to put on my memory box! I loved it!
M J: I really enjoyed the National Portrait Gallery which shares buildings with the American Art Museum (they each have a side on both buildings). The Hall of Presidents was excellent. I really enjoyed seeing the 2022 Potrait Contest and enjoyed voting for my favorite Portrait. There is a 50 year Anniversary exhibit for the Watergate Scandal and we almost visited on the actual anniversary so that was cool. There are a lot of different portraits of Americans on display and they are pretty randomly spread out between the rooms. All in all, expect to spend 1 1/2-2 hours at this part of the museum. I will say, some teens and kids who are not the most intellectually driven may find it boring as there are not interactive exhibits.
Ukvayat Hanak: The National Portrait Gallery gets 4/5 for all the exhibit areas that are closed right now. Many renovations going on! So many varied exhibits though. A great place to host a catered event. Check em out!
Kathy W: Museum is really big and has so much to see. We spent a good amount of time at kogot courtyard which happens to have orchids displays. Beautiful and fun place for people of all ages. Parking was somewhat challenging but really worth the trip.
Joshua Russell: This is one of our favorite museums in DC by far. You get a wide array of art here on three floors. This is located right in Chinatown across the street from Capital One Arena with two entrances. One thing to note if you are being a bag it has to be worn in front of you at all times. We recently came here and I would say my favorite areas were the special exhibition of the dual artists and their stories. They show one piece of art from the artist and tells the story of their connection. They have a Jackson Pollock called Heading West which was really neat to his art before the drip style. Another favorite was the Hung Liu portraits, the way she did them is nothing I’ve seen before and really showed great expression. I also enjoyed the social Justice exhibition as it covered a wide variety of areas and include very moving stories. I highly recommend coming here and spending a couple hours browsing.

Kate Shoemaker: We chose Amanda to take our newborn photos after seeing her amazing gallery and good reviews, and she exceeded every expectation we had. Amanda captured truly special and extremely high quality photos of our new baby. The experience in her studio was so fun and stress-free. Amanda absolutely has “the touch” to make both newborns and their parents 100% comfortable. Haein Davis: We booked Carl and his assistant photographer was Chuck. Where do I begin… from our engagement shoot in DC to our wedding day they captured everything so beautifully. We hired him to shoot our engagement shoot and wedding photos and we were beyond honored to have him capture the most magical day of our lives. Carl is professional, easy going, and has an eye for angles and light. During our engagement shoot we laughed the whole time and he gave us photos that not only wowed everyone but also perfectly encapsulated our relationship. On wedding day, Carl and his second shooter Chuck were on time and worked nonstop all day capturing all the moments, big and small. He was able to give us amazing sneak peeks within two days and our wedding album in approximately one month. Even the candids were beautiful and just showed the story of our day. Another plus is that Carl was able to direct our Chinese guests in Mandarin, which was super helpful when it came to taking group pictures. I cannot hype him enough, thank you Carl for the best wedding photos I could have every dreamed of!

We decided early on that we wanted to focus on getting a good photographer for our wedding, and booking Carl was hands-down the best decision we made for our wedding. Carl was incredibly prompt when responding to our emails, and both he and Charles did a great job keeping us smiling and laughing throughout the night so that they could capture more genuine smiles. Our guests are still talking about what a great job they did. In addition, Carl sent us our final photos a mere three weeks after our wedding, and we received our photobook one month after our wedding. This was substantially earlier than Carl originally quoted us, which was fantastic because we couldn’t wait to see the photos after Carl sent us a sneak preview. If you are looking for a highly talented team that is very prompt and personable, look no further!
