Savanna Nikole: Best nails ive ever had! We made appointments arrived earlier than expected (traveling) by about 30min they took us and the lady i had was magnificent! She took her time, explained everything, and NOT one nail was Crooked!!!! She never tried to pressure me into "better products" she offered, i said no thank you and she kept on with her work. If i lived in the area i would never go elsewhere. Fyi: its a very small tight space but they honestly do make the best of it, when i first walked down there my anxiety went crazy but they offered wine and everyone was very organized and polite.

Rikki Miller: Had the great luck of getting Sam on my first trip to Dupont Nails. Have now seen her twice and am absolutely in love with her attention to detail and sunshiney personality. I loved the color on her nail when I visited this weekend, and she was kind enough to go find the bottle to paint my nails the same color instead of what I had picked out. I also had the misfortune of two broken nails- one broken down the center, and she knew exactly how to fix them and make them look beautiful despite the short length. I have my next appointment scheduled and cannot wait to see her again. She is truly the best!

Maddiw215: The SNS selection was only maybe 50 colors, and the manicure was the worst I’ve had in DC. Multiple nails are different lengths and the polish is uneven at the base on multiple nails. The reason I give them two stars is because the nail technician was willing to try and make it right but really it was unsalvageable.

Pamela Agava: The technician was nice and courteous and did a great pedicure but was horrible at shaping and doing overlay for my hands. When I asked for a new person she begged me to let her finish and assured she was going to make it right. End of story, I left with her drawing blood through careless use of the tools on three different fingers and a nail overlay that looks like a five year old did it. All I can say is beware here—there are qualified techs and obvious novices. This place takes the relaxation out of services because you have to watch everything until you’re certain what kind of tech you have.

Diana Moreno: The only place where gel nails have lasted up to 4 weeks! Have visited other places and getting my nails done have not been the same. All the girls and the gents are great but my very most favorite has been Jessica. She can give the best manicure Ever! All are very friendly and you can get wine to drink while getting your nails done. No better place in DC.

My best friend and I came to her salon for gel pedicures and and they turned out pretty good to say the least .First of all, We wasn’t offered any drinks or refreshments and I kinda started to get the feeling she didn’t want us there, We had a bit of a scuffle with Ms.Amy about her prices and ask her why her prices on her menu outside are different from the prices she wanted to charge us, she responded with “ It was because of COVID”; but we came to an agreement of 45$ per person; which I thought was pretty pricey for a gel pedicure but it turned out good and lasted 3 weeks it. Tassia Stewart: 5 Stars!! I visited Amy's Nail Salon in September 2020 as a 1st time customer and I was very impressed by their services. Firstly they open at 9am which allows me to have a service done then go about my full day. They have Plastic Screens up to separate the Customer from the Nail technician and I did not have an appointment but they accepted this walk-in. I arrived minutes after 9AM and was out the Door by 10:30 on a Saturday. In under 90 minutes! Priceless! I got a great pedicure by a male technician and a Dip Powder Manicure by Amy! Wow She did an amazing job! My nails lasted 4 weeks no chipping. It just grew out! The Space is clean and the Service is Fast! They also have some nice colour choices to suit many tastes! I highly recommend this place! And plant to return any chance I get!

The barbicide used may not be clean and changed as often as it should - being that tools are shared far too quickly once put into the barbicide. The overall upkeep is messy and unprofessional. I truly enjoy supporting small businesses. After being a customer with Amy’s for many years, I ignored her tendencies of being friendly with selective customers and her disingenuous attitude. As I enjoy supporting small businesses, I tried to ignore my experience and discomforts but I will not be silent. Amy appears to be kind but truly shes a bitter rude woman. I had an appointment for 10:30 AM today and I showed up 6 minutes late (15 minute grace period) she spoke rudely to me trying to convince me that my appointment was for 10AM. I tried to effective communicate with her and clarify the misunderstanding but Amy continued to lie, yell and be rude. Amy and her niece her, employee but were sitting on their phones - could have serviced me. Could have compromise with accepting may be there was a misunderstanding. But if you don’t need the money that bad to lose a customer then maybe invest in - proper plexiglass, barbicide, tools, clean up your salon and certainly hire another employee. Such a joke - I definitely saw mice droppings near the restroom - next to your mini kitchen- foul. Get it together Amy. Services: Pedicures , Manicures

Bill Lane: Had a pretty average experience. To clarify, it wasn't bad. It just was pretty basic. You're mostly just paying for the aesthetic of the place. I had a pedicure and the tech was very nice. Best part overall was her paint job, which was phenomenal. My issue is really just with the services provided for a $48 pedicure, especially when you compare it to some of the small local places around DC. It's a basic scrub, pumice, lotion application, and polish. Seating is in chairs that look nice, but are really uncomfortable. For $45 you can go to Sun Nail & Spa on U street and their pedicure has aromatherapy, a whirlpool tub, deep exfoliant and filing, hot wax treatment, massage, lotion, massage chairs, and the standard polish. No cut to this spot though, it's a beautiful space, has friendly staff, and is in a good location in the neighborhood. Just think you can get more for your money at some other places. Genesis Cisneros: Wanted to love this location, I usually go to the one in Capitol Hill. I got a gel manicure and it’s already begun chipping, not even a week in. Also, it’s clumped by the cuticles and to be honest the space between the polish and the nails looks as if I’ve already had them done for a week. I didn’t notice until after and didn’t have time for her to remove it all and do it over. Pretty disappointed and will not be back to this location.

Nathalie Denham: The whole staff is so friendly, the salon is so clean, i can’t say enough good things! Ask for Yvonne and tip her well!! They do not skimp on any part of the treatment. I get gel nail polish here now but i used to only do regular organic polish and i swear it lasted almost as long as gel! Totally worth every penny. Space is also beautiful and you’ll never have a more luxurious pedicure chair (it’s literally personal leather couches!)

Smita Jacob: This is a “toxic free” type nail salon, so they don’t offer gel manicures. The nail polishes are displayed in 3 baskets on the front counter. The receptionist was friendly and the reason I stayed. They were able to remove my old gel manicure ($10) and I chose the speedy manicure $22. The receptionist offered me something to drink. My manicurist on the other hand, wasn’t friendly at all, and she didn’t like my feedback during the session (when a bubble appeared on one of the nails) but in the end it turned out okay. It’s hard to wait for a regular nail session to dry once you’ve done gel polish, but that’s personal preference. My manicurist tended to a gentleman after me, and didn’t come back to check if mine were dry after about 20 minutes, so I asked the receptionist if I could leave. Again, very nice service from the receptionist. The ambiance is pretty, although the chairs are not comfortable. They do sterilize the nail equipment and package the utensils individually before attending to each customer. I like that they wear scrubs as a uniform, makes the place look nicer. They took me in without an appointment, which I appreciated.

Melissa Mason: I love this salon! The atmosphere is so clean, calm, modern, and relaxing. The front desk ladies are also so nice and accommodating! For example, if you book a pedicure but once you're there realize you also need a mani they will fit you in, no problem. Also, if you're booking an appointment for you and a friend on their website and once you have one booked realize the other spot has already been taken, call them and they will do their best to find a place for you, and let you sit by your friend as well. Such great customer service! They also have a variety of beverages to pick from while you're treating yourself and very comfy chairs (not the tacky massaging ones that are typical at most salons). The technicians also do a great job and every one I have had has been very meticulous, which I appreciate. They also never gyp you on the massages, they take their time and it feels amazing! The only thing worth noting that is somewhat on the negative is that they do not offer gel manicures. However, I suppose that a regular polish is healthier anyway. Needless to say, I def recommend this nail salon!

Paris C: Excellent gel manicure and pedicures here. Mimi does a beautiful job! She is very detail-oriented and has great technique. I don't usually do anything fancy, but Mimi's paint job is perfect, and she really shapes the nail well (which is basic, but not everyone is good at this). I first came in on a busy holiday Monday, and lucked out with her as my technician. In an hour, I was in and out with a great pedicure and a perfect gel mani. They have options to pay for longer massages, but I go to nail salon for nails. I did see others getting full on spa pedicures which looked nice. Because the other technicians on my first visit looked to be doing a great job, I didn't request anyone specific my second time which was a mistake. Didn't get her name, but she was a little older and super aggressive. I left with red cuticles that were inflamed the next two days. She also cut me with the coarse file when breaking the gel seal, and scraped a lot of the top layer of my nail bed off when removing the polish. She didn't ask my preferred nail shape and gave me oval when I came in with square. Anyway, most others I've seen appeared to yield great results, and Mimi did another excellent job when I requested an appointment with her. Will continue to return!

Gabrielle Doria Rhoads: The employees and the space is nice, but I got a pedicure and gel manicure a week ago and the gel started chipping off almost immediately and then a large portion of it just peeled off out of nowhere. It felt like they were rushing us through and it didn’t cure long enough. The nail tech also made both my feet and hands bleed when cutting the cuticles and my toe was very swollen and painful for about 2 days afterwards. I don’t find the quality to match the price.

Natalie Mack: I went there to just get 1 broken nail fixed since I was only not even a week ago and I waited almost an hour. I eventually just walked out. Meanwhile there are people in the back who could have easily assisted in helping since they said they could take me Roberto- My nail was completely all soaked and taken off within the first 20 minutes. Your workers are very nice, but have no regards to people’s time. It does not take nearly an hour to remove one nail, as it was already taken off with just one wipe of a towel that I did. J3rric3 _: To start off, the lady who did my nails kept cutting my cuticles which caused me to bleed. They do not have prices for dip powder nails unless you specifically ask. I ended up getting gel polish with tips, and my nails came out bulky and uneven. This place is good for a quick pedicure, but not full sets. My roommate also had a horrible experience.

Caitlin Earle: I live right around the corner so convenience-wise this nail salon is the best option. There are multiple other salons within a 5 minute walk and I never go to those places because this is a great salon! I get gel manicures and pedicures and have been happy with every nail technician who has worked with me. I want to particularly shout out Julie who did a flawless job for me the first time she helped me and since then I have asked for her every time. Her gel manicures have lasted 3+ weeks every time and she also never hurts me when she trims my cuticles, which is a big concern for me! All of the ladies who work here are meticulous and the atmosphere and customer service is great.

We were attended pretty fast, showed them what we wanted and the results were great. The price was reasonable as well. Only reason it’s 4 and not a 5 was because I had to wait a bit for another lady to attend me to finish my nail design that I wanted. But they came out beautiful!

Sebli Deju: I got my eyelashes done on Friday may 13. I explained to the lady that I wanted my eyelashes to the certain way. The answer she gave me was ‘ Don’t worry’ which I thought was real and I thought she really understood what I meant. The place is all about money. They don’t care about the customer’s needs. All they tell you is not to worry which means you should worry more than ever because they are going to make you look something you don’t like or something they think would cost you more, but not your choice. After taking more than 2 hours on my eyelashes I told the lady that I didn’t like the look. It wasn’t the way I wanted it or the way I explained it to her in the beginning. Her answer was still ‘don’t worry don’t worry I’ll fix it and I’ll charge you less’. This isn’t about the money woman. I could have payed better if the service was the way I wanted it. You guys should start Caring about satisfying your customer’s needs not your benefit from doing wrong. I hate the experience and I’ll never try to get it back again at this place. Monica Reyes: At my job, it’s critical that I don’t wear vibrant colors; including pink. I showed them this reference picture multiple times, and emphasized multiple times that I want a clear or tan-like base. They completely ignored my wishes and use the language barrier as an excuse as to why they didn’t go with what I asked for. On top of ignoring my wishes, and proceeding to paint my nails pink, due to them not being organized and trying to take as many customers as possible they messed up this very simple design and tried covering it up instead of fixing it. I have long nails and work with my hands so they tend to chip easily but it’s been a few days and they are still perfect! I’m so amazed. The artist was very sweet, made sure I was happy with the finished looks and really helped the pain in my feet from the callous remover sugar scrub. Krystyna Graham: I have been coming to persimmon nail salon for years. I typically get gel pedicures; a select few times in the past I’ve gotten gel manicures. I am always pleased with my results, it doesn’t seem to matter who I see. I like that they offered different levels of service beyond just the standard pedicure. I typically go for the deluxe or spa pedicure for the extra exfoliating scrub, foot and leg massage with oil, and hot stones. I also love that they serve mimosas/champagne! The nail techs are always friendly and accommodating. And I’ve been pleased with how long the polish lasts. And other salons, due to their rushed techniques, I’ve had gel polish actually come off within 36 hours which is totally unacceptable! That’s never happened here. So if you’re looking for a solid gel Mani and Pedi, this is a great option. My only gripe is that street parking can be difficult to find in this location! Services: Pedicures , Gel manicure

Jenna Alves: I was hesitant to write this and I’m not even a review person, but I want to save someone some money. I will say they were very nice but the manicure was bad. I came here after looking for a while and read a decent amount of very good reviews, but I will not be back. I got a gel manicure that started to crack and lift after 1 week! Not to mention I paid $57 for it!! Not including tip. The design I asked for was simple lines with a French tip and it was messy and not symmetrical. My nails are uneven and very thick he did not take the time to file them correctly. They initially asked more $99 which did not make any sense for short nails. I have gotten longer nails at that place for less. They have offered drinks for all the to guests in the salon but me. I felt racially profiled they even refused to give me a hand massage after the service. As a fourth year student in DC, I have been there many times and recommended friends. a: I made a last minute appointment, and I was taken care of right away. The man who did my acrylic nails was amazing, from the conversation to his work. He knew that I don’t get my nails done often, so he took time to help me pick out colors and didn’t rush even when the store had closed. He gave me extra at home care for my terrible cuticles, and decided last minute to add the gem on my finger. I didn’t pick it out, but he told me that he wanted me to feel like a princess for my birthday coming up. Wow, I’ve never had such a great interaction with a nail tech! Thank you for making me feel so special! I’m still smiling about how much he uplifted me.

Meghan Chaney: This was my second time here. The first time was amazing and my gel manicure lasted 3 weeks. Second time not so much. Got my gel manicure on a Wednesday afternoon as of Friday morning all but two nails are completely gone. Gel is supposed to last minimum 2 weeks without chipping and this has never happened to me anywhere else. Worst part is this happened right as I’m leaving town for a wedding. Don’t trust this place!

Lourdes Rnc: Terrible work. I ordered french. The white lines are not straight nor at the same level. The nails are not well covered with polish, but my fingers are. If you see them close, you can see every layer of coat wrongly placed. I kindly asked the girl to fix them, but she end up doing them worst. 12 hours later, the polish is already falling. My friend ordered regular manicure. Hers was awful too and started falling an hour later. We are not coming back.

My nails aren’t even, and are shaped on an odd slope. Topcoat is caking and cracking on my cuticle beds. Yesterday—Wednesday the gel started to get hairline cracks and fractures at the top. They pay attention to detail including trimming cuticle, filing shapely nails, and polish application. They are sensitive to customer preferences - cut versus file nails, etc. The team works quickly but does not skip steps or make one feel rushed. Sarah Norton: I come here frequently and have held off on leaving a review until now. There have been some issues in the past, but I have tried to be understanding and forgiving. I made an appointment weeks ago for a fill today with Pink. I come in today on time for my appointment and am told Pink is not here, and can I wait for Tony to do my nails? I agree thinking it will be a cpl of minutes, and I go to the bathroom. While in the bathroom I’m called by Jenny, the business owner, and told it will be 30+ minutes until Tony arrives. Honestly, I should have left then. When I came out of the bathroom, Tiffany offered to take off my acrylic in order to get things started until Tony arrives. While doing this, another customer arrived for her noon appointment with Jenny who is also not here. So now Pink, Tony, and Jenny are not here. Tiffany asked the customer to wait 40 minutes, then Jenny called and spoke to this customer as well. At this point, the polish has been filed off of 4 of my nails. A walk in comes in to have her nails done and Tiffany leaves me to do this woman’s nails. I don’t begrudge this other customer having her nails done, but really?? The person I’m booked with isn’t here. The business owner isn’t here. Tiffany gets me started, then leaves me minutes into the process to take care of someone else. Since I am waiting 30+ minutes for my appointment to start (even though I booked ahead and was on time) then why couldn’t this walk in customer have waited for a few minutes until at the very least, all 10 of my nails had been filed, instead of just 4?? I can’t very well leave now with 4 nails filed, even though I am thoroughly frustrated. When I expressed this frustration, Tiffany was very defensive saying that I had agreed to wait. And she’s right, I did agree to wait because she was at least getting me started. But now she’s not even helping me. I am one of two customers who made an appointment at noon that is not being seen on time, and not because the salon is running late, but because the employees aren’t even present. What is the point of making an appointment at all if this is the result? Apparently, Pink no longer works here. Jenny should have gone through Pink’s appointment calendar and made arrangements for her customers instead of waiting until I was at the salon to call me. It’s just so disrespectful of her customers time and shows a lack of planning and leadership. Very disheartening. I’m sad to even be writing this because I like this salon a lot, it’s very clean and relaxing and I’m always happy with my service (except the one time I had Tiffany do my nails; big mistake), but this is just no way to do business. I don’t want to leave this place because as I said, there’s a lot to like here and Jenny and Tony are very sweet people. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens when they get here. Update! It’s several hours later. Jenny and Tony arrived roughly 25 minutes after my appointment time. They were very kind and gracious, I said they’re sweet people! Tony took a lot of time on my service and made sure I was happy. He then took a percentage off of the price. Jenny also reached out this afternoon after I got home and apologized again. I’ll stay with this salon for now, as I said it’s very clean and relaxing. The french tip itself is pretty uneven and my nails are extremely thick and bumpy. I also asked for almond and got round. In addition, while my nail tech was drilling and trimming my nails, my cuticles started to bleed. She felt really bad and was really nice about it and got Neosporin. She also told me if I had any issues in the next two weeks that I could come in and she’d fix it for free which is really nice. Their prices are pretty standard, you could go somewhere else and pay the same price for much better service. As nice as my nail tech was, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Aliyah Moñet: I came here yesterday and yesterday will be my last day EVER coming to this establishment. I found this nail salon because I used to go to Wilson and let them do my wax service. So yesterday I went to get a wax the wax was fine no problems with that. The problem is my nails! I had Nom and she was kind of rough and doing my nails fast it was 7 and the store closes in a hour so I guess she wanted to rush doing my nails. Prior to her starting she asked me what length I wanted I told her long but she cut them short. On top of that I told her I wanted coffin shaped nails but she just gave me almond shaped and crooked nails. When she put on the black polish that was also rushed because they are not fully polished. When I told her I didn’t like the length she kept complaining she’ll have to take the whole set off. Like I know ! But I really was annoyed because she went around the shop telling everyone instead of doing what I requested. I already spent $72 and on top a extra $30 for nails you’ll think she’ll be more understanding. However she did take $5 off the set but I’m still not returning and I’m taking these nails off ASAP!!

Jane Vander Poel: I go to Tenley Nails every 2 weeks and have Silk wraps, pedicure and waxing of my eyebrows. I have been going for at least 8 years. They have a clean ambience, they are welcoming and proficient. I have never had any problem with their waxing, in fact it is MUCH better than Elizabeth Arden, where my mother went! I cannot imagine who could have written those scathing reviews that I read! Not to mention that Amy gives the best shoulder rub in town! She also does massages for a very reasonable sum.

I got a gel full set with Ann, it was her first day today and she did amazing - it comes with a two-week warrantee and a punch card to get rewards. My grandma also comes in, she is 89, they help her at the door, help me get her and her things to the car and make her feel like a queen anytime we are there. I love the massage chairs! Christina Ospina: This place was perfectly acceptable for a quick and affordable ($17 regular nail polish manicure) and the service is friendly, though I'm not sure this will be my go-to establishment. The interior felt like it could really use a little TLC (it was decently clean but had no real style and looked rough around the edges). COVID-wise, they have clear paneling between you and the manicurist. Perhaps more importantly, my nails chipped within the next day, and I've had longer lasting non-gel polishes from other locations.

Janna Hagey: Extremely Rushed, rude, didn’t take me at appointment time, couldn’t do basic French. had an appt at 10, didn’t take me until 10:40. When he was finishing the paint job (regular French) it was totally crooked and I asked him to fix it in which he painted OVER the mistake and then was upset when I asked him to correct it the right way (by removing the polish on that nail and re painting) rushed work, rushed results. Dr. Joy Dangerfield: Solid place to get your nails done and a mimosa... or two 🤭. They have a ridiculous amount of nail colors lol! At least three walls dedicated to gel. My nail tech did a great job on my nails and I have no complaints. They did take a decent amount of time (~ 2 hours for me and 2.5 for my sister... we were the first ones in the store) so don’t make any plans after. Check them out!

Gabrielle Rice: Mimosa Nails is THE place to get your nails done in Northwest DC! I got a full set with a combination of gel polish and encapsulation. It took my nail technician about 2 hours, but the results were great! She did a great job shaping and was gentle on my nails. There was a chill, nice vibe about the salon, but it was very busy--definitely call and make an appointment before you come in. I did this the day of and was fine.

Shane S.: My new favorite nail salon! Have a refreshing mimosa while you get your nails done in the most artistic way. They offer SNS in ombré! Not many salons offer that technique yet so I was happy to find one that executed it well. Little pricey, but most decent salons around here are and you get what you pay for. I’ve tried going to cheaper salons and they have either cut my skin or the nails looked awful. I’d much rather pay more to be satisfied. Also the SNS job here is done so well it last for about a month.

jamelle Rush: I was there for a manicure and a pedicure on veterans Day and I feel that I was being rushed lied to and cheated out of my money I asked for gel but I didn't receive gel nails instead he gave me pink powder I washed him do the whole process and I pretend like I never had gel before and he told me this was jail and I know that it was not he never use the heat and lamp he used pink powder and a drill... The whole time I wasn't allowed to soak in the water for my nails nothing to strengthen my nails up you just threw us on with all my permission and this was not what I came for . I was unable to pick the pedicure that I wanted he told me we were going to use basic and hurry up and get it out the way and that's what that was not what I wanted

Crosby: I have been going to this particular mimosa location for <1 year and i unfortunately had the worst experience last week. I got my nails beautifully done but unfortunately they popped off and were lifting less than a week later. The lady who was at the front desk was incredibly rude over the phone and scoffed when I insisted i did nothing since i have been getting acrylics for more than 5 years so i know how long they last, esp. @ this salon. After a lengthy convo when I walked in she finally said they could redo my nails and said i NEEDED i full set since they were lifting at the top. I assumed they would be comped because i explained to here i payed 100$ for my acrylics the week prior. i said if they wouldn’t comp them i wanted to take them off. It wasn’t until after my nail person finished my nails that I found out i would still have to pay 45$ for my nails (i was going to tip regardless but then another 10 for tip) so not only did I have to spend three hours of my time but I had to repay for my nails because they charged me for removal + a full set + shape and 20 $ in design for french nails. This experience was highly unfortunate and i would never go here again. Definitely only going to be using the one in navy yard from now on.

Simply Satisfied: I was referred there by a neighbor. Nice location. I brought my mother as well. She got a pedicure and I wanted my nails done. After we left? I looked at her feet, they didn’t have that fresh salon look to them to me. Weren’t polished with precision either. She explained that the woman used water that was barely warm and used zero soap in the water. Then took her feet out so quick and moved forward with the pedi. She didn’t use a base coat so her nail bed is dark right now since she removed the polish. As for myself, I wasn’t satisfied, I was asking questions because I only had acrylic nails once and I know they changed the process. This woman acted as if she was patient initially but she began talking about me and my Mom in a derogatory fashion in her language with other techs, so much so till the other ladies beside me that were getting their nails done became uncomfortable. You could see it. I said nothing, I just let them talk but they must remember that just because a person doesn’t look like them, does not mean they can’t speak even a portion of their native tongue. They should stop this practice before the offend the wrong person one day. And no, I didn’t like my nails. Had to file down more because they were too wide. Services: Acrylic nails , Pedicures

Jenn Richman: No appointment needed on Friday afternoon. $43 for gel set with French tips. Nails were not as long as I would have liked when I arrived but they managed to preserve the length. French tips are a bit wider than I’d like but overall nice manicure.

Nicole Romano: I don't like what gel does to my nails, but wanted to have nice looking nails for my wedding. A friend told me that they have a long lasting gel alternative that happens to be vegan. One week later (regular week dishes, activities, etc) and they still look great! Minimal chips on my right hand. Well worth the additional $15 in my opinion! Will be making this a more regular self-care activity! Update: photo is from two weeks after the manicure very few chips even on my dominant hand

Genevieve Kettleson: I visited Pure In Heart nails while traveling in the area on a business trip, I got a dip manicure and a pedicure. Both were excellent! The salon is clean, the technicians were professional. The pedicure was very relaxing, with many additional perks like hot towels, hot stone massage, etc. The dip manicure turned out beautifully and Jean put a lot of time into making sure it was perfect! I would highly recommend this salon.

Judy -: Have to say that I was left very disappointed after paying $50 for a gel manicure. A strong start with positive, friendly customer service, but one nail had a bubble, and when I pointed it out and suggested it be redone, my nail technician insisted it was fine and just applied an extra coat. Not even 12hrs later, it peeled. When I came back the next day (today), having called ahead that I would come at 1740 (which they said was fine), they were locked with no one in sight. Poor (and expensive) experience, will not come back.

I think it might have to be my favorite manicure I have ever gotten (I’m not even that picky, he just did such an amazing job). First of all, I called Sunday Morning and he was willing to fit me in right then which was very flexible of him. At each step of the manicure process he would make sure I was happy with the shape, color, etc. He also even added jewels to my nails when I asked halfway through the appointment! So accommodating and such a reasonable price point (especially for being in Georgetown)!! Even a week later my nails still look flawless, I am getting compliments, and all the baby jewels are intact! The tech did not offer any options for pedicures like usually, they only performed I’m guessing the basic pedicure, it was was very poor service. Danielle G.: I had the most wonderful experience at this salon. They are very professional and kind, and I was able to get a walk-in appointment for a pedicure last minute. The pedicure was amazing; I chose the Casabella Pedicure which included a mud mask and massage, and was offered a drink during the service. Leshia Cushing: My appointment elsewhere fell through, so popped to the nearest place. This place is in a cute location with lots of people-watching but is not one to visit by choice. While I was appreciative of the closely-monitored glass of white wine (served in a champagne flute), the tech was quick to advise owner allows only one. She walks around constantly overseeing the techs and is quick to reinforce mask usage. I’m vaccinated and also want to feel comfortable and pampered at a salon. I was charged more than what is advertised via the website but still tipped 40%. It’s flighty and not as indulgent an experience as should be a nail salon. Won’t be returning but “Kay” did a good job with my nails. Did I file when I got home? Yes. Eh. The search continues. Service: Acrylic nails

Mattie Curry: Good for pedicures, not for acrylics/manicures/nail art. Went in with a picture of exactly what I wanted (a basic, thin, black French tip), and got uneven, thick lines that went halfway down from the nail tip. My nails aren’t even properly glued to the acrylics! I can see the space between my real nail and the acrylic. Had to get them repainted at another salon, and I can’t wait to get the set replaced. It makes me sad, because i had great pedicure experiences here. Service: Acrylic nails

NIKKI HARRIS: Need to listen to customer requests and do exactly what that is. When you charge extra for callous remover there should be no callous when the pedicure is complete. Eye lash service should be done without getting glue into the customer eyes. Lashes had glue all over them making it unable to brush and clean the lashes properly during face washing routine. The lashes were stiff from the glue. Overall spent money on services that I was not completely satisfied with. Services: Eyelash extensions , Pedicures , Dip powder

Laurin Thompson: Let me start off by saying I get my nails done almost religiously every two to three weeks. I know a good job when I see one. This place is rated an overall 4.5 stars and I don’t believe it deserves that high of a rating. I went in with a picture of what I was wanting and everything and nobody who helped me was able to give me what I wanted. Fair enough everyone was very polite, but being nice and friendly doesn’t equal a good job. I don’t think the nail techs are used to people being as watchful and maybe that’s why the stars are so high, but if you want really good quality nails done I’m sorry to say this is not the place for you and I just don’t recommend it.

Elizabeth Skora: I had a fabulous experience with the nail technicians at Eastern Market Nails. The location is a little difficult to find (up the stairs!) but is in a quaint little space that is very clean. I had the best pedicure I've gotten in a while, and it lasted for over three weeks in summer. I suggest calling ahead to make an appointment, especially for a pedicure, as space is tight.

Dana Peterson: Relaxing spa like salon with a peaceful waterfall and great selection of pedi options. The wonderful atmosphere and my world famous hair person in the back makes it one of my favorite places in DC!!

Teya Schneider: Scam. Way overcharged. Got what was supposed to be a $25 basic manicure, but was instead charged $45 and I didn’t even get polish, which comes with the basic manicure because I was told it would be extra money. He charged me $45 just to remove my 3 acrylic nails. Literally so rude and so terrible.Service: Manicures

Laura and Chris Harmon: Not bad, but not great. The prices and atmosphere are spa-like, but the male service provider is more like what you'd find at the cheap salons on every corner. The woman might be better: she had the only customer when I arrived, my guy answered the phone (yes, while doing my pedicure) and setup several appointments for her and she had people waiting for her when I left.

Carolina Aclan: Had an appointment for nail dipping and fifteen minutes later the technician had not shown up. Very disappointing!

Jessica: I had a gel manicure and regular pedicure done in the evening the night before a flight for my friends wedding across the country. Nick who did them seemed to struggle and then he knocked a fan on to my toe nails while doing my manicure. I asked him to check my nails he said stated they were fine. When I arrived home at 8:01 pm and noticed that both my feet were very smudged and air bubbles in my gel manicure I called to see if I could get them fixed the answering machine picked up. In between flights the next day I called to explain what happened and they said come in to get it fixed I explained I’d be away for a week the women who claimed to be the manager stated no problem come back when you return we will fix it. To late for the wedding but fine. Reasonable. Flash forward to the day after I returned when I arrived at the salon the man who also claimed to be the manager stated it was grow out and wouldn’t fix it. I was not asking for the grow out to be fixed just the smudges poor business. Disrespectful and people on different pages. I strongly do not recommend this place as they are very untrustworthy and simply did not want to fix their own mistakes.

Christy Brock: I was really iffy about going here after reading wishy washy reviews but decided to give it a try today. I stopped in and said I'd like to come back in an hour, so technically I made an appointment. I returned after some errands and they were ready for me as soon as I picked out my color. I did a basic pedicure with Anna to see what their services are like and had a great experience. She asked me my preferences as we went along and did a beautiful job overall. I'll be returning to Anna for upgraded future pedicures.

sarah emadeldein: The lady who did my nails did a very bad job. She seems new and clueless. I asked her to cut my toenails, she cut them in different shapes and left them uneven and no shaping and she couldn’t understand what am saying. I am very unsatisfied

Sarah Seagrave: Changing polish to gel is $20 up charge and not listed on menu. Terrible pedicure. Gel is over the cutical so in a week it will be jagged and fall off. I called them and told them about it, and they are going to re do the nails for free. All good in my book

Lindsay Paulen: I wanted to like Varnish Lane so much, especially since I've heard great things! Unfortunately, while my nail technician was diligent/super nice , my gel manicure started chipping/peeling within less than a week (slight chipping at 2-3 days; full nails peeling off at 4-7 days). I love the concept of Varnish Lane and had a pleasant experience during my appointment, but unfortunately the gel manicures are at much too high of a price point to be chipping at 2-3 days.

Natasha Orehowsky: I wanted to like this place, and I really enjoyed my experience while I was there. It was clean, the staff was friendly and the chairs are very comfortable. However, it hasn't even been a week and my gel manicure is already peeling off. For how much I spent, I'm pretty annoyed. I would maybe go back if I was just getting regular polish or a regular manicure, but it definitely isn't worth it if you want your gel manicure to last. Under a week and already peeling off is definitely not acceptable. Services: Pedicures , Gel manicure

Darrah Joy Clay: I live in the Navy Yard and was hopeful this new salon would be a great experience offering a calm and luxurious experience with a quality gel mani and pedi. Unfortunately the quality of their products is terrible. The average gel mani lasts one week at best. The services are upwards of $100 and do not last at all. I’ve been to the salon twice. My first experience someone came in with a similar complaint. My second experience I unfortunately was the person who returned with chipped nails - not just one but 5/10. I encourage anyone who is going for gel to look elsewhere and save your money. Other salons like NailSalon and Cosmopolitan have better longer lasting gel or SNS. It may be that the waterless feature doesn’t fully remove the oils from the body which reduces the effect of the gel. I’ve actually had regular polish last longer. Lastly the customer service is a 6/10 the team is cordial and responsive but not incredibly accommodating given the price and poor quality of their gel materials. They canceled my rescheduled appointment last minute and only offered to fix the damaged nails and not redo the manicure. That would have made it look worse. They weren’t concerned about the quality of the work but rather slapping more peeling gel on my nails. Save your time, your money and find another option. It should be called “Vanishing Lane” because the polish vanishes in days.

Stephanie Ferguson: I really want to like Varnish Lane, but in my experience the salon is over priced and quality is lacking. When I received a gel manicure, it only lasted one week before it started chipping and peeling. Also, I came in for a gel mani/gel pedi. I asked if I could make it out at a certain time and was told no because there weren’t enough technicians, but that I could receive a simple manicure with no polish. I had two technicians servicing me but one technician left after my ‘fast lane’ manicure to join a second technician to service a client who came in after me. It seems that I could’ve received my polish and the tech could still service the other, later client once finished with my polish. In all, the ambiance is nice and the salon is clean, but the quality is subpar. Services: Pedicures , Gel manicure

They did repair three fingers but the other nail specialist was too rude… ok, good things - music is good, chairs are comfortable but which is the main thing for nail bar- PROFESSIONALISM, in my case below zero… first and last time there…

Natalie Clark: Maria (front desk) was super pleasant, warm, helpful & inviting from the moment that I walked in. The place was super clean & open. And Ari (nail tech) was very kind, polite & friendly. And she gave me a great pedicure! Hayley Andrews: Terrible customer service. We called in advance to say we were arriving 10 minutes late and they said it wasn’t a problem. When we arrived, we were told we were only getting a 5 minute manicure due to another appointment and that we had to pay full price and we had no option to cancel. I cannot believe I just paid $28 for a regular 5 min manicure because I arrived 10 minutes late. Super inflexible policy - the worst nail salon I’ve ever visited and the manicure will definitely not last more than a day. We will never be coming back. Service: Manicures

Evan Phinney: I visited the Varnish Lane Mt. Vernon location the day it opened! Two weeks later and my gel manicure is still going strong! I walked into an amazingly clean and calming atmosphere with the most beautiful wall of nail polish options I’ve ever seen! I was offered a complementary drink and could wait in one of their comfy chairs due to there being space. I had seen a nail design on their Instagram page that I showed my stylist, and she was more than willing to recreate It with the colours I chose! She even improvised for one nail that wasn’t shown in the picture and It looked amazing. My only hesitation is when I go for my next manicure I will be charged to remove gel the polish. Though their base prices are on the higher side, It is worth It for the cleanliness, care and quality of their services! Already booked my next appointment to try their pedicures out!

Hannah Trinh: I am seriously in love with these nails and could not have gone to anywhere better. The variety of colors and how hard the workers are is amazing. Jessica did an incredible job with my friend and at the same time helping me with my nails. After that, Andy did my paint coat and he was so incredibly fast and efficient. Three of my nails were really short because of ripping and his precision in adding a fake nail to makeup for the height was so amazing. The conversations with them is super friendly and they know how to choose colors to suit your skin tone. Will probably go again to have flowers added onto these nails.

I wanted funny bunny gel color with a French white line for pedicure and a gel manicure. They were efficient at accommodating me, professional, and respectful which I appreciated especially because I was in a rush for a flight. Samantha Pearl: DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME OR NAILS. I've been getting my nails done for 7+ years and this was the WORST experience I've ever had. First off, I'm bleeding in 3 places. His response was to put glue on my finger. I made an appointment for 6. Needed a soak off and new set for Valentines Day because they were lifting. The owner told me it would be 20 minutes to soak off.. turned into over an hour. I sat with my thin nails in acetone for 45 MINUTES while the owner did a WALK IN's nails, right after telling her to get a pedicure while she waited. Instead, he did an entire gel fill with 10 finger design while I sat there. Then, he tells me, "I don't have time for design"..... Why didn't you tell that to the walk in who took up an hour of my appointment? THEN, he fought with me to charge for two little rushed dot hearts AND $15 for the soak off plus extra for long/ombre/whatever whatever. Also, another poor girl who walked in right behind me with 3 nails needing FIXED (not even done), sat for OVER TWO HOURS. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME FOR TERRIBLE, UNAPOLOGETIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. Chloe Oxley: I had a pleasant experience during my recent visit- I was able to walk right in. Everyone was warm and welcoming! I loved the complimentary beverage options they offered and the salon itself was bright and stylish. I was excited to try this salon out, especially when I realized they just opened. I really loved the herbal spa pedicure! Some minor logistics and timing can be improved. For example, my services did take almost 4 hours. On a positive note, I did feel so relaxed and comfortable that I didn’t notice how quickly time had gone by. One of the main reasons I give 4 stars is because my actual nails were filed down underneath the acrylic overlay, which is very upsetting/doesn’t look great— (before and after photos included). All in all, the final product looks nice and natural, which is key for me. Given they are a new shop, many of these logistics should quickly improve. I’d definitely check them out!

Michelle: This was my fifth visit to Glamour Nails and safe to say I found my go to nail spot in DC. The entire staff is professional and experienced, and I enjoy the complimentary beverages and ambiance. I always get gel refills, sometimes with or without designs, and Andy and Leo never disappoint! Nav Sandhu: The staff is super friendly but not everyone is trained. Andy is the person to see cause he seems to know his stuff. I got a liquid gel refill with gel polish and wanted a snowflake design, opted for the sticker but it never got put on properly. Literally got this done at 5:30 and two hours later it’s coming off. I would come back for a basic service but anything beyond that seems difficult for the staff (however Andy appeared experienced) but they are really nice.

Brittany: Andy did an amazing job on my ombré dip nails. I would highly recommend him. He is very detailed and made sure that everything was done to my liking. Also, all of the tools were very clean and there was no wait time for me to be seen. I was lucky to find this place.

Aimee Faulkner: I hate to be this person but this was the worst pedicure I've ever received. My nails were bleeding by the end of it. There was nail polish all over my toes and i asked them to fix it. The woman doing my nails yelled at me that the color I picked will get on my toes no matter what, took the nail polish off and told me to pick a new one. I stated I was uncomfortable and just wanted to pay and leave. When I got to the front I asked to pay half because I'm going to have to go somewhere else to get them done now and the woman came over and started yelling at me to the point that I was in tears and legt. I do not recommend you ever go to the place.

Crystal Banks: There is always a seat ready for me when I visit! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the various methods of nail care. Although you have to hunt for parking, this place is awesome and clean. I have no complaints and honestly didn't want to share my hidden gem with the world. I got a SNS dip that lasted so long even though my hands are always in bleach or lifting multiple heavy items daily.

Anna Kovalenko: In terms of moderately priced nail salons, this is the best one I’ve found in DC. I have been going here on and off for about three years now. I haven’t had anyone hurt me, or make my nails look bad. Although, I have had some Techs apply gel polish way too thick, causing it to peel off within a week. I’ve also noticed Techs are better at dip powder and regular polish than they are with gel. Sure, I’d love for the ambience to be a bit more posh, and less hectic (it’s a small space). However, if you are looking for a clean nail salon where you can walk in, and have decent work done without breaking the bank, this is your place. Services: Dip powder , Acrylic nails , Pedicures

The services I’m getting are expensive and I never minded tipping l’ami 20% for the service. Before I left I told him that I was disappointed of the work he did ( very thick nails and not even filed properly) and he just ignored it because he’s got a client waiting for him. It is very busy and a small salon so be patient - but everyone is nice and does a great job. Bc the dip polish works so well I’ve been able to grow my nails out and try different shapes - love it! My pedicures have been very neat and clean as well.

Mara Franklin: Came as a walk-in and couldn’t be happier! After taking the very stressful DC Board of Nursing Exam, my appointment at another salon was pushed back by 45 mins, and I decided to try my luck elsewhere. Not only did I get a full set of acrylics and pedicure last minute, but they were super sweet, friendly, and went the extra mile. TMI: I have chronic feet problems after years of ballet, and my tech took the extra time, without being asked, to shape my nails nicely, fix ingrown nails, and pumice callouses. Most places charge a higher fee! Only wish my acrylics were a little closer to my cuticle.
