Mount Desert Island Ice Cream: what do users think?

Elizabeth Dou: The best ice cream place in the area! Super clean inside with friendly staff. Lots of fun flavors including the standard chocolate and vanilla. The ice cream was creamy and flavorful. The lemon berry poppy seed was a unique flavor that tasted amazing. There is a small outdoor seating area with a benches next door.

Bradley Farster: My daughter and I love this place! They have some very creative flavors, and their recipes have natural ingredients and flavorings. Their maple walnut is amazing, and my daughter loves the gluten-free/dairy-free blueberry basil sorbet. Be sure to check it out if you are in the area!

Jessica Long: Went there last night. We got the salted caramel, which was a little too salty. We got the coffee, which was good to me, but too bitter to my girlfriend. We got the pralines and cream, which we thought was the best. We got the pretzel and toffee, which needed more toffee to pretzel ratio and not just dark chocolate. It was weird that the single allowed for 1.5 flavors, but the double couldn’t accommodate 3 flavors with 1 full scoop and two half scoops. Hence why we got some many flavors because I had to upgrade to the triple. We got one other flavor, but unsure what it was. There is a long line at night, but they didn’t cut us off, which was nice. There’s are to sit outside the shop, which was also nice.

Alicia D: A balance between some staples and a rotation in of new flavors keep me coming back. The cones are fresh, but they may run out of the waffle cone in the evening. The first time I went, I was disappointed by the tiny scoop size, but since then, they have been more generous with the scoop. I forget to take a picture every time, but the pictures from the other reviews reflect what I have had and seen.

Amy Chiou: You can get two flavors in a single which is just so fun. I loved their buttermint which I paired with cookies and cream for a wonderful combination. My friend said her strawberry paired with lemon was fantastic. We may have gone two days in a row...

Megan Miller: Bay of Figs is my favorite ice cream flavor on the planet. I live in Colorado and I’ve tried to reproduce it at home with no luck. It’s smooth, creamy, sweet, bitter. So. Good.

J C: Came on a friday night and they didnt have waffle cones??? Besides that the ice cream was pretty average. I did not like the Kulf(?) flavor. The blueberry one was good. Im highly critical of Jeni’s and Jeni’s is better than this.

J Acharya: Very fun creative flavors! Highly recommend getting the blueberry sour cream crumble!

Hershey's Ice Cream: what do users think?

Scott O'Brien: Good ice cream selection. Friendly service. Good ice cream. Good location.

Selim Yaman: The servers, especially the Afghan-Turkish young lady, were so helpful! Thank you!

Kevin Lanes: I ordered a banana shake, was told I had to pay an additional .75 for the banana.. cool.. not really but ok… the shake was TERRIBLE!! An $8.00 glass of milk with bananas in it. I’ve gone to another Hershey location and had an amazing banana shake. This dude clearly has no idea what he’s doing. Idk why I even paid for it.. SMH

Atory: I first felt a little hesitant ordering one at here as this place seemed old, but while I was ordering and waiting for my ice cream, i saw super clean floor and counter top. I didn’t even see any dust at the corners of everything. Also staff was very friendly. My Ice cream was also good.

Michael Shallal: After spending $32 I asked for a washroom they pointed to the Starbucks across the street. 🤨

Brenda Vasquez: Smoothies aren’t sweet at all. Watered down and overpriced. Also who charges 75 cents for whip cream???

Sunil Puri: Terrible service. Overpriced. No tasting of ice cream

David Parrett: The chocolate peanut butter ice cream here is my favorite.

Misha Pazdera: The best place after a day trip in DC. Super place near Crescent Trail and C&O Cannal. We are frequent guests here and we will definitely be back. The staff is nice and helpful.

Larry's Homemade Ice Cream: what do users think?

Audrey Osburn: Larry’s is awesome! Wonderfully homemade ice cream without so many of the additional ingredients/preservatives/emulsifiers that big companies use. Not to mention Larry himself was there! He’s a gentleman and made my boyfriend I feel welcome and made us laugh. Great atmosphere and ice cream here.

Lloyd Spencer: My vanilla chocolate chip ice cream cone with a perfect ending to a very long day. Homemade ice cream that is very creamy and actually made by the owner.👍👍

Nate B: This place was great. The ice cream was really good. Service was fantastic. It is a little hidden gem that has been there over 30 years. I would definitely recommend this place.

Sophronia Vachon: This place truly is a hidden gem! The ice cream was delicious and not too sugary, prices were reasonable for the part of town (near Dupont Circle). But the best part is the owner Larry! He has a sarcastic sense of humor and had us laughing the entire time. I think some people mistake his humor for rudeness, but we loved it.

Eamon Kostopulos: Larry is a just man who has been put on this Earth to do one thing, serve delicious ice cream. His loving but firm attitude is purely for efficiency. If you have had a bad experience at this place it is purely because you didn’t live up to Larry’s standards. The ice cream is top notch in DC and I can easily say I will be going again.

Lacey LeCroy: Best ice cream. It has that homemade creamy flavor. The strawberry cheesecake flavor is amazing. My son says it is the best vanilla he has ever had. And Larry is a funny guy too.

Holly Gross: Just wrapping up our trip in DC and stopped by for ice cream. Excellent selection and so tasty! Larry kept us entertained too. Funny guy!

MATIAS STIPICEVIC ETCHEGARAY: The worst experience I’ve ever had in Washington DC. Larry was rude, disrespectful and denigrated my family because we are Latin. Absolutely shameful and disgusted by his attention. I don’t recommend this place at all. You can buy ice cream from CVS a block from here and its way better and overall will be a happier experience. Don’t come to this place.

David Goldstein: Been here before and prices were much higher than they should be, but ok it’s DuPont. Came in tonight and the gentleman behind the counter had such a rude tone and just came across grouchy. If you’re going to charge over $6 for a cookie bar the service better be top notch. There are other places more worth your dollars than this one.

Ben & Jerry’s: what do users think?

Brian Copes: Disclosure- I’m not an ice cream regular eater, but I did have it so here’s my take. Menu - honestly, I wanted a white chocolate flavor but I didn’t see that listed on the menu. I had the strawberry cheesecake (small cup) and it was tasty! Real cheesecake and fresh strawberries too. The staff was super patient with me reading the huge menu. My date got very berry sorbet that was fresh and tasty. I’ll be getting that next time. It’s a nice location for a quick cool treat to help with the summer heat. I would go back to this location again. I say try them out yourself.

Lucette Mercer: Ok. I’m a B&J’s fan, almost a groupie. So I was thrilled to see the sign and didn’t mind the line. So it sucked that my only choice was to get my fave Cherry Garcia in the pre-packed pint, but chocolate is a worthy replacement…Then I screwed up and added chocolate sprinkles. They were a bit off. I mean, it was good chocolate ice cream, but it didn’t quite live up to B&J’s. Folks were working hard and pretty efficiently but I also was a little a bit grossed out by the non-service dog in the line and the freezer case (see 3rd pic).

Matthew Fauske: Big fan of using Groupons here. Did that again today and it doesn’t disappoint. Waffle cone Sunday with m&ms, whipped cream and hot fudge and a nice cold brew coffee brownie ice cream.

Shrey Sanger: The ice cream flavour selection is pretty limited and the flavours available in the tubs and as scoops are different. Not ideal, but still ok. But the staff is the absolute worst. One guy serving was probably high and in no state to work. Asked us if we were ready three times in thirty seconds. Then his colleague came over and harassed us. Really bad experience. Get your ice-cream elsewhere.

Logan Hobbs: Super dank, get a Krazy kone for ur cream too

Sean Murphy: The line here can get a bit long during peak tourist times (especially later at night), but the staff was always friendly and fast. The flavors were plentiful and served with a smile. I’ll always go with Chunky Monkey, but it’s nice to have options.

Jessica Long: They provided good service at the end of the night staying open a little after closing time to provide us with ice cream! Only downer was that all the flavors listed were not available. But otherwise, we were glad to get what we could!

Veronica Soto: Super friendly employees! The only thing I wished for was that they had Rocky Road so I got a simple 2 scoops of chocolate and vanilla in a cone instead, and it was delicious regardless. Wait time was quick; it’s a bit pricey though which I expected because it’s located in such a nice area. There’s also a nice photo op with cow statues that you can sit on at the storefront.

Maylinn On Route: Very helpfull man behind the counter. We purchased icecream via a Groupon deal and he made sure we were served in a very neat way. Amazing icecream. We will be back!

Southwest Soda Pop Shop: what do users think?

Kristy Kairos: Mango ice cream was incredibly good. Lemonade drink to die for. Proud to say it’s black business owned. Great for your sweet tooth needs. Will be going back again.

Kris: Amazing shop! Staff is super friendly ! Not only is the ice cream options amazing the food options are good! Definitely recommend

Nick Webster: Southwest Soda Pop Shop is a cute outdoor ice cream and soda stand. Serving soft serve and scoop ice creams , floats, and sodas. A wonderful stop on the north end of the newly opened DC Wharf. Look closely for the shop since there is still a lot of construction. It is located on Maine Ave directly in front of the Seafood Market. There is ample bench seating under a shaded awning. It will be even nicer to visit once the construction is completed.

Shenita Y White: Best soft serve ice cream ever! It is so smooth and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness and vanilla! I had vanilla in a medium cup (but wish I gotten the large). There’s always tomorrow! Sorry about the photo, it was basically gone by the time I thought to take a picture.

Dondré: This is a great outdoor quick ice cream shop. The staff is cool and the smoothie I ordered was good. They offer all kinds of ice cream, banana splits, milk shakes, smoothies and more. They have ice cream sandwhiches made of real cookies and your choice of ice-cream flavor.

Roniqua Jeffries: So good! A must stop ice cream shop at the wharf on the fresh seafood side. Pictured is the cherry blossom ice cream sandwich on sugar cookies. Ask about their secret menu. This is a walk up shop with no indoor seating. There are some pub tables outside. On my last visit they were selling hotdogs and half smokes as well as ice cream.

Margie Nguyen: Waited in line for about 20 minutes around 2:00 on a Saturday. Very nice people and great treats! Can’t wait to come back and try other flavors! Wanted to come out to support a local black owned family business!

Raiana Berman: Heard some great reviews and always ready to support a B.O.B., I decided to try it out for myself a few weeks ago. My friend got a chipwich and really enjoyed it. I ordered the cake explosion and immediately saw a hair baked into the brownie sitting right on top. The line to address this was over 30 min wait so I threw it out and took a loss. Customer service could be better and possibly more seating to accommodate all the customers in their long line.

Sequoia DC: what do users think?

Zuleirys Santana Rodriguez: Amazing customer service! The outdoor dining is just soo extremely gorgeous, spacious and clean in every way. You have a lovely view of the water, the Sweden Embassy, and just the river! The food was just next level, specially the octopus that was cooked to perfection and I will certainly have it again when I come back to bring my boyfriend.

IamJoedie S: This was my first time and the experience was awesome. We came for a birthday dinner. A party of 12 arriving at 5 PM on a Sunday. We had two servers they were on top of everything. There was never a moment a glass was empty. Food service was quick hot and absolutely delicious. I had the steak was absolutely surprise when the potato came out with macaroni and cheese…must order if, no when you come. If you’re looking for a sexy restaurant to have a brunch, lunch and or dinner this is definitely the spot it overlooks the water great date spot. I will definitely come back again. Next time for the brunch. I hear that it is phenomenal. Come. Eat. Drink. Enjoy!

jen w: I gave this 3 stars because of a couple reasons first we had a reservation Saturday at 1:30 pm for their tapas brunch. They were super slow getting our food to us at the beginning. We ordered two rounds of food before the waitress came back and told us it was last call. We were barely there an hour. There is a 2 hour limit, I feel that if they have reservations till a certain hour they should allow the two hour minimum for people. It’s 64.95 per person they aren’t doing a favor for anyone. Next we chose to sit inside and it was obnoxiously loud. There was a group of people that were talking and screaming to each other, while I’m glad they were having a good time management should have asked them to simmer down because all the rest of us could to was watch them because u couldn’t talk for the noise. Having said all that, the food was very good. We opted for Bellinis and Mimosas. They were very good. The waiters walked around with carafes of Champagne and refilled you. My glass never got empty. I would go back here but make an earlier reservation and in cooler weather where I could it on the patio so I don’t have to deal with the noise.

John Varkey: We came for an anniversary dinner. The hostesses were a bit surly and disinterested but our waiter was great. The views are fabulous. My wife had the crab cakes and I had the lobster scampi. They were both fabulous but according to my wife the lobster had the edge. We went for a nice stroll along the water and around Georgetown after dinner. A very nice evening was had.

Kat B: Loved this place so much. My partner and I came here for our anniversary, not only was the view beautiful but the energy/service of the staff was amazing . The food was spectacular, definitely get the burrata if they have it ! We were pretty full but still made room for dessert and an espresso which was also delicious . Definitely recommend for a date night/ celebration . Prices were in line with the portions/ambiance .

Crystal Sings: Beautiful simply Beautiful 💜My daughter and I brought my mom to last Saturday’s brunch for her 80th birthday and we really enjoyed the service, food, and ambiance of the restaurant. George, our waiter was awesome and made our experience so memorable! Thank you George!

elizabeth rose: Visiting from florida and this restaurant was highly recommended by locals and im delighted i took their advice! The atmosphere was great, very inviting and scenic, indoor and outdoor seating offered with a nice view of the river. food was really good and exceeded expectations and the server Dominique went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our experience :)

Dolci Gelati: what do users think?

A.J. Carlson: Fantastic gelato, especially the sorbet. Had a mind-opening, out-of-body experience with the passion fruit sorbet. Highly recommend.

Heidi Liou: The lady working was so kind and let me sample a lot of flavors! I ended up going with one scoop fig marscapone and another scoop of birthday cake. Loved the vibe of the store even, but you have to get lucky to snag the indoor seating (fits 2 people). They did bring out outdoor seating as well (two tables, two chairs for each table).

Saint Eloise: I have been here before. Today I got the blueberry mint, almond coconut, and strawberry something. It was great per usual.

Christina Redden: The dark chocolate was hella dark and delicious! I also had the honey/marscapone/fig and it was unique and amazingly good too! The staff was happy, helpful, and patient as we made the incredibly difficult choice between flavors. They also had these adorable mini-cones and frozen dog treats!!!

Raymond Jordan: We visited Dolci Gelati at DC Zoo in early April. The ice cream topped funnel cakes were a must have for us adults as the zoo was closing. The baby girl wanted the Italian Ice. Great way to end our day trip ! Thank You

Yer Yang: Great flavors and variety. The espresso was potent, which I loved! The chocolate was rich and creamy. The white chocolate raspberry was delicious too. We got the macaroons and the lemon was not fresh. Unlike the other two, it was very chewy and tough. For that reason, I rate this place a 4-star.

Adesh Saxena: Great locally crafted Gelato to Die for. Not to be missed if you are in the area. Croissants are baked fresh. Now they also sell dry pasta, olive oils and balsamic 00 pizza flour Imported from Italy..

Lulabelle's Sweet Shop: what do users think?

Jessica Long: I had the single scoop of coffee Oreo and pistachio with the combo colorful sprinkles. It was very tasty. I would say a regular sized compostable spoon would be nicer than a wooden sample spoon.

Bianca S: What a cute place! The decor is adorable and the ice cream is delicious. I loved the peanut butter which I am normally not a fan of and the watermelon. The watermelon was very refreshing, perfect for a hot summer day. I also had a iced dirty chai which I thoroughly enjoyed! They also have lots of cute nick nacks and sweets throughout out the store which are reasonably priced.

Stephanie King: Stopped in for a ice cream and the flavors looked delicious. Caramel crunch was perfect for the hot weather

Tom Hertz: Great pastry. Try the pistachio ice cream. Great meats and cheeses. Not cheap, however...

Ellen Conover: This is such a sweet neighborhood ice, cream place. While flavor selection is limited, what the have is tasty. The staff is friendly and they always have fun merch to peruse while you wait or eat. Very glad they made it through the pandemic & are happy to see them open their doors again.

Paul Krysiak: Cute place , amazing ice cream, do yourself a favor and treat yourself 😁

Kelly G: Super cute shop. Ice cream is delicious!! And at a reasonable price (for dc standards). Unique small business, nice staff.. i’ll definately be back.. yummm😊🍦 🍨

Roof Terrace Restaurant: what do users think?

Ron Milkowski: I have never been to the Kennedy Center and had no idea that there even was a restaurant. What a very nice dining experience. Santo our waiter was very knowledgeable with the food and drinks. It is a bit pricey but worth it. Even if you are not going to an event I highly recommend checking it out.

Anusha Chatterjee: Wonderful bar service! The food was so good. Had the tuna carpaccio and the salmon. Both were absolutely perfect! Lovely seasonal Cocktails. Perfect stop before or after the show. The bar has the full menu, so no reservations were needed. Lovely intimate vibe.

Craig Herrick: We’ve been here a number of times over the years though this was the first visit in two years. The Terrace has upped their game. My lamb chops and wife’s fillet would go over well in any finer local venue. The service was prompt and professional and based around our show time. Terrace maintains most of its vintage (60’s) vibe which is what I like about it.

Myrna Linzy: Very good. Waitress was very good in helping me with which meal. Picked my drinks. Awesome place.

Catina Carter: The food and service was outstanding. Wonderful place to have a beautiful experience of class. The views were wonderful as well.

Mary Robinson: Wonderful dinner before a show. Cant beat the views! Professional service throughout the meal.

Veronica Coleman: Wonderful evening at the Kennedy Center and dining at the Roof Terrace Restaurant. Great food. Great music.

Phil Cooke: Great setting at the Kennedy Center, ideal for pre show dinner. Service was excellent; overall, food was very good. Our party of four got fish, with the bass being the best, by far. Others, trout and salmon, were just okay. It is a little pricey, but the setting, service and convenience make it worth it.

Founding Farmers DC: what do users think?

Tyler Davis: Quality food and drinks! Stopped by while out and about visiting DC with the family. Short walk from several metro stations. Reserved a table during lunchtime the morning we went and was seated minutes after we showed up. Staff was attentive and my drink was never empty. Reasonable prices for the quality food you get considering the location and love the bar menu. Was recommended this place by several people and it was quickly apparent why. Will definitely visit again next time we are in DC!

Jon Schemanske: Really fresh, delicious breakfast! We tried the waffle, pancake, and egg scramble. Obviously made in house - really delicious. Pancakes and waffles were exceptional. Egg scramble was very savory. The coffee is way better than your average breakfast place. Service was quick and friendly. Recommended!

Konstantinos Rizakos: We were seated promptly at our reservation time. The hosts and servers were polite and effective, albeit the food and drinks took a while to come out. Everything was very very tasty. The meat in particular. Try the prime rib, and the pork chops - but you may want to ask that they cook less than you usually like because ours were slightly over cooked.

Kimberly Giang: Omg so yummy. Visited DC for the first time and found this restaurant for breakfast. It definitely did not disappoint! It was so yummy we came back the next morning. We reserved a table online and good thing we did because it gets crowded fast. Our table was ready when we arrived and all of the staff was very friendly. Food came out fast. The French toast was so unique and tasted amazing. I loved the Eggs Benedict and how crispy the hash browns were! Definitely would come back!

WooDo Jedi: Good service! Our server was outstanding. (Front hostess and host didn’t make us feel welcome though - we felt like cattle coming through the door). Our orders came our timely and had that flavor profile that spoke of home. We would definitely return here!

Frankie Painter: This is our 3rd time here and WOW, everything we’ve ever ordered has been amazing! We always start with the honey cornbread and this time I got Scallops Meunière with butternut squash risotto and my husband got catfish with grits and green beans. My scallops were cooked to perfection - they cut like butter. The atmosphere here is warm and cozy but lively, although there were way less people this time because of social distancing restrictions. Our waiter was super! We had to show an ID and proof of vaccination. Highly, highly recommend!!

Ying Liang: Friend took me here for dinner when I visited DC. We went on a late weekday evening. Definitely call for reservations ahead of time because it was incredibly crowded. I’m not sure how long we would’ve had to wait if we didn’t plan for that. Our waitress was very nice, food took a while, probably because it was so busy! So plan some time to catch up and relax. It was sort of dark and loud but the restaurant still had nice ambiance. I got the chicken and waffles… and oh my goodness, it was the best fried chicken and the best waffles I’ve ever had. So freaking good. The green beans were crunchy/fresh and the mac and cheese was decent. Not sure what sauce it came with but I was enjoying it! I would probably try to get here for early brunch next time instead. Definitely recommend you stop by if you get the chance.

Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse: what do users think?

Vy H.: LOVE THIS PLACE!! My work company had our holiday lunch gathering here recently! The restaurant has a nice and fancy vibe, and surprisingly was packed for a weekday lunch. Their salad bar is awesome—with a huge selection of choices. Their meats (that come around your table) is so delicious and well flavored. In addition, staff is very friendly and attentive. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have the chocolate cake as a dessert option for our meal, but the cheesecake with strawberry sauce was really good!

JennyLovesGogi 제럽고 (제니럽스고기): Especially, the lamb was fantastic. They provide fresh salad, salmon, soup, and fruits at the self corner. And they gave us a fantastic cheesecake for our birthday! 💯💯Thank you for nice food and service!

Morgan: Fantastic service. The employees here really work well as a team. The food is always great. I took my boyfriend here when we first started dating and he loved it. Took him again along with my grandparents, who were in town visiting… I didn’t tell our server, but we were also celebrating my grandma being cancer-free. Our server went out of his way to give my grandma a free dessert that said “Welcome to DC” (see picture)… That was really nice. Thanks for many great experiences.

Steffon Greatness: Danie Magalhes & Staff are super accommodating. They understand customer service. Daniel kept a smile on his face as if he wanted to be at work. The Service, QUICK, Efficient, & Friendly. It’s as if they want you to ask question. 🤣 The Food, Fresh, Hot, Tasty❗️I’ve been to hole in the wall Brazilian spots and I’ve been to Texas de Brazil… the food tastes better thank all of those I’ve experienced. Pro Tip, They get busy quick, they have a full dining area. Tables fit 2, 4 & round tables that must fit about 8. They fill up pretty quick. (And this was a Thursday) Try the bottom steak & lamb. It’s the best. I wasn’t a fan of the beer marinated chicken however it wasn’t bad. Last thing get the soda in the picture it’s AMAZING. I want a case of them lol. *** Please mark this helpful if it helped you***

Naturally E: The food and service was top notch! I really enjoyed all of the selections & the quality of the meat. The market table was my favorite! Soooo many options to choose from. The drinks were fantastic! Surprisingly, they have Happy Hour all day! Our server, Ryan, was ahhhmazing! He was super cool! Really enjoyed our meal.

John Kurton: Great place for meat lovers. Great quality meats and good size cuts just kept on coming. The salad bar was great too. Some how even managed to find room for dessert.

Autumn Bishop: We went for the first time for my birthday, everything was amazing. Our server Denzel was overall a 10/10 super attentive even though it was crazy busy he made sure our needs were met and even offered to have specific meats brought to us if we hadn’t tried them yet. He also had great recommendations and accommodations. The food was all fantastic. We will be definitely coming back the next time we are in DC !!

India Gate Restaurant & Bar: what do users think?

Janet Gonzalez: My friend and I had food poisoning from this place on our last night at DC. Everything we ordered had no taste. Tandoori chicken was not half chicken as described on menu but 4 drumsticks - tasted old and salty. The rice, bread, samosa all had old taste ( something that’s been sitting out for a while). I kept hearing the microwave in the background. Do not go there.

Katina Harkins: The owners were very friendly, the rice was fluffy, and the chana was very flavorful. It was very empty the weekday that I visited during lunch. If you want to avoid a crowd at lunch and enjoy Indian food, I recommend India Gate.

Shawn Dietz: Food was cold , owner is a real piece of work , this is not a place where u get Indian food , disgusting!

Capitol Bistro: what do users think?

Denise Walker: Very disappointing. The service was good, however it was extremely expensive. For one slice of toast and half an avocado it was 15.00. I was outraged. It was 21.00 for a Caesar salad with one thin slice of grilled chicken. I don’t mind paying for good food, but I couldn’t get passed the 15 dollar avocado toast and the puny Caesar salad. If you are going to serve food, go all the way and do it right.

Paul Zhang: I have breakfast over here. It was very nice. I choice breakfast buffet. Breakfast buffet time 06:30-10:30. The food was delicious 😋! It’s very nice convenient restaurant! A lot of people come here ate breakfast!!! Good service!!! Flavorful salads. Home - made soups. Traditional bistro entree’s with imaginative twists. Desserts 🍨 and wines to savor.👍👍👍👍👍

Milana K: Good breakfast! Sweet employeesFood was fresh and was a good variety

P C: Good restuarant in the Holiday Inn - Capitol. Food is good. Try the salmon. There is also a bar area. Good prices and large menu

Dustan D: Breakfast Buffet was excellent, service was amazing, made to order omelets and otherwise great selection. Was a bit pricey at $17 per person

Vickie Credeur: Breakfast was extremely overpriced, we had pancakes and juice/coffee for 3 and was over $70

Clydine Stanley: This place is so disorganized. 😡😡😡😡 All we got sorry this sorry that. Not enough workers or we were just plain being ignored.

The Occidental: what do users think?

Al Ectric: Everything is really excellent about this location: the service, the decor, the history, you name it, just top notch. However, the food 🥘 with all honesty was average. The quality, taste, an flavor were okay with both the half chicken platter and the salmon platter we ordered. Not worth the price. They were cooked/served without salt and I don’t care what secret recipe you have, if you don’t use salt when you cook, might as well head to the nearest senior living buffet (no offense). But hey, I guess you’re only there for a piece of history and service.

Hilda Kroll: A nice, quiet place to have lunch and a challenge to remember the names of the famous people whose portraits are hanging everywhere. The short rib grilled cheese sandwich had lots of tender meat and was oozing with cheddar and Bel paese cheese. What made it unique and special was the radicchio-citrus marmalade. Reasonably priced with great service thanks to Chanel.

antoinette rodney: Food was good. Pleasantly surprised by the cornbread. I was expecting the usual starter bread. The cornbread was served in an iron skillet so it stayed warm longer! I had the pasta special which was pasta made on site with lobster and clams. It was not heavy at all! I also had the Occidental salad which was also light and good. Normally with a meal this size I walk out of the restaurant feeling like I had a ton of bricks in my stomach because I was so full but not here. Decor is interesting. Many pictures on the walls of influential people in Washington. Waiter was attentive!

Khoi Nguyen: Came here for lunch with some coworkers. We had some oysters, angus burger, crab cake sandwich and the fried green tomato BLT. Everything here was delicious. Oysters were so good we had to order another dozen. The burgers and sandwiches are a must order. The crunch from the thick cut bacon and fried tomato in the BLT was definitely the highlight. The crab sandwich was cooked perfectly and the added water crest added some great texture. This is a great place to people watch. The outside patio is perfect when the sun is out. Food and ambience here is great. If you want seafood and American food this is one of the best spots around the mall.

Karen L: We took advantage of restaurant week to revisit an old friend, the Occidental. The food is still great. The seating arrangement does not crowd the room and allows for conversation. We enjoyed all the dishes we had as they were interesting and well done. Will definitely put the Occidental back on the list for lunch rotations given our pleasant dining experience. If the ice cream cookie sandwich is on the menu, get it! the cookie was fab! SUCCOTASH: what do users think?

Rachel Murphy: Ordered the taste of the south. The food was overall pretty good, plentiful and the sampler was a nice way to try many things. Full orders at other tables looked very large. Sadly the overall experience was not great and I’d probably not return. A couple small things combined were disappointing. A raw piece of chicken replaced with a piece way over cooked (clearly the kitchen was mad) - we never ever send food back but raw chicken we did. The manager seemed to place blame on us (a lucky chicken vein). I have a shellfish allergy and asked if possible to get a scoop of the grits(without shrimp) just to taste and that was ignored. Wasn’t looking to substitute but it would have been nice (or told not possible if the shrimp was cooked in). Then a 4 top was placed at a table next to us when the restaurant was fairly empty with many open tables in the same server section. In covid times seemed odd. Plenty of brunch places in dc so I’ll try others instead of returning

K R: Succotash kinda sucked…. The atmosphere was great, our waiter Mike was patient and kind and we loved his service! When it came to the food it was disappointing- sticky buns: dry, waffles: hard, hang over special: salty, with gravy on a fried egg instead of the biscuit… why?… If you’re coming for food lower your expectations. If you’re coming to feel sophisticated yet comfy you’re in the right spot. I also noticed the people next to us not finish their food. Worth noting.

Bryan Mroz: Went on a Friday evening. It was full but we had reservations and we were seated quickly. Service was a bit slow but our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was perfect. We had Shrimp and Grits and Catfish. Great ambiance. There was love music mostly soul and jazz.

Vin D Sr.: Amazing menu and a fine meal. Staff was great and we enjoyed the atmosphere! Chicken and waffles outstanding as was the smoked steak! Sides were awesome too! So good we had to take a few orders to go! Highly recommend. Make a rez to secure a table at this hot spot.

Chris Taylor: Amazing space with comfy booths. They had live music which was a nice touch. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was good, I enjoyed some food came as starters. Loved the milk punch cocktail and the honey old fashioned. A good spot.

Hard Rock Cafe: what do users think?

Kelvin Ofula: A typical Hard Rock Cafe in the heart of DC. Strategically positioned. Loved the interior deco and their food. The staff were once again as amazing as always and very helpful. The lady at the souvenir shop was very very helpful and friendly. I loved every single bit here. The ambiance was great and so was the music. Hard Rock is just pure positive vibrations and I always try to visit one when in an area with one. I would totally recommend.

Matt Daniel: A classic Hard Rock Cafe in the heart of DC. A great layout within what appears to be a old fashioned restaurant or bar. The rock n roll decor is seamlessly integrated into the Art Deco along the walls. The staff were very hospitable and I recommend making a reservation as you can ask for better seating up stairs or in the back. There was one tv above the bar featuring music videos of various famous rock n roll bands. The pricing was reasonable for the area and the options for food were good with large portions. I’d recommend to stop by if you haven’t been, hope this helps!

Yogis Dogie: Nice place to visit in DC. Extremely busy but very nicely decorated. Unfortunately the food is very mediocre. Looks great, tastes bland and almost always served cool or cold. The hamburgers have an odd seasoning in them that can be off putting. Fries are good but the portion is pretty small (in relation to the price). The gift shop is well stocked. The rewards program changes its guidelines too frequently and dumps points out too often to be useful. Basically, it’s a nice place to visit, but one visit is plenty.

Bailey Alexander: This was my third time eating at this particular Hard Rock Cafe! This location really stands out. It’s in the heart of the city so it’s really nice to tour monuments an things and then ride electric scooters to here and park them. Then you can relax and unwind, ride scooters back around to tour more things in DC. The food is always very flavorful and good. The drinks are always perfect. This location has an excellent modern style with lots of arts and things on the walls. I highly recommend checking this place out while in DC.

David Arrimadas: Very good Hard Rock restaurant. I have been in lot of them all over the world and this is a very good one. I love the open kitchen concept and the kindness of all the staff. The brownie is delicious and soooo big. Difficult to finish it even when sharing!

WorldofDaph: I try to go to hard rock in every city I visit and usually it is a pleasant experience but not today. I came to this location and sat down in the bar area waiting 10-15 minutes for someone to take a drink order. Considering how tired and hungry I was I had no energy to even leave. One of he waitresses at the bar looked at me and my fiancé multiple times and never came over. She was behind the bar scratching her back under her shirt and didn’t even wash her hands. When she finally came to our table she pulled out her cellphone to text someone. Having been a service manager in restaurant for years I was completely dumbfounded at the disrespect. I’m a pretty mild mannered fair person but this Waitress was awful. I will say the kitchen staff was doing a great job. They were pushing food out but the servers just weren’t running food which caused it to just sit in the window. The receipt said the waitress name was Sara. All I know is Sara needs to be demoted to hostess or let go. Upon leaving I brought these things to the managers attention but I could tell she didn’t really care. She offered to give me her card. That’s won’t do much at all. I watch the manager stand on the expo line and watch plates die in the window. Saturdays can be quite tough and she was probably tired and over it herself. All in all I will never return to this location.

Rachel Cook: We had a very large group with reservations. They were not prepared. Some of the staff was great, but others were not. The food, for those who actually got food, was mediocre. If this continues, the DC Hard Rock will suffer the same fate as others around the country...permanently closed. It is disappointing 😞

Magic Gourd Restaurant: what do users think?

Carson Robb: I got egg drop soup, steamed pork dumplings, and the orange chicken. The soup and the chicken were great (know that you have to pay $2 extra for white meat). The dumplings did not fit my fancy. The breading almost tasted raw. For reference, my total was $33.48. Not unfairly priced 👍

Rachel Huynh: Good food. On the day we came, somehow the whole restaurant only had 1 waitress and 2 runners. Poor the waitress she gotta do everything from serving food, taking order, bringing beverages, making table etc... We were on the rush so we almost canceled our order. The waitress immediately took actions: with lightning speed food was served and surprisingly, with very good quality. My parents kept asking to come back.

Marissa Bacino: Came here before a show at the Kennedy Center. Dated interior, but the food is great. Fairly quick, lots to chose from. We ordered: pork dumplings, crab Rangoon. Mongolian beef, triple delight, Thai basil chicken and the boiled fish. All was really good, I wish I lived closer to DC, this would be a regular spot.

Anna Tarnavchyk: Not bad food. Old school style interior. The reason of 3 ⭐ because the check that we received was not very clear. Just hand writing one and I feel like 18% service fee was already added, but all manually.

George Haws: Mapo Tofu is authentic. Ginger, garlic, scallions and doubanjiang. Angry red chillies swimming in red broth. Delicious.

Kamal S Ravi: Friendly staff and very good food. My default option for chinese food in DC now.

Emil Potersnak: Service was excellent, staff very friendly. Food was fantastic. I highly recommend this spot.

Lisa Heilbronn: DanDan noodles delicious as always, spicier than I remember. Good service.

hao zhang: The best Chinese food near school, staff are super friendly and food was good.

Chick-fil-A: what do users think?

Munera A: First time trying the famous chick-fill-A! , it was good not my type of food though

Kiara Jackson: This food is absolutely delicious. The customer service is always inviting and the drive through line goes very fast. The breakfast is one of my favorites. I like to eat here at least once every two weeks.

christopher Pintado: Was relatively hard to find at first. Even more difficult to find parking. End up finding it in what seems to be the basement college cafeteria. The food was good and had other restaurants like sushi and Mexican food. Having multiple options at the same spot made it worthwhile for a quick bite to eat

Sam Odle: It’s an express location so it’s a Chick-Fil-A that’s been shrunk down to fit in a food court. Long lines at peak hours is the only negative and you’ll quickly see why - fast and friendly service and delicious chicken sandwiches and nuggets!

Paxton Patey: Poor customer service. Dirty tables. Charged me 50 cents for each chick fila sauce. And didn’t get us forks for our grilled chicken, which was actually more like shredded chicken. The 12 piece and 8 piece we ordered had the same amount of chicken. And when we asked for forks the employee looked like we inconvenienced her. I love chick fila. But won’t come back here again.

BrANdIe LyNn: Love the comfy environment. Food tasted great and fresh. Staf was very nice and respectful.

Katie Johnson: Great CFA, open to the public. Check for hours though and avoid noon during the semester to avoid VERY long lines of students.

Matthew Ostin: Amazing food, always busy so that makes it a little tough to go here when in a rush. Employees are really kind and make quality food. Personally recommend the spicy checker sandwich. Also make sure to get sauce or you are missing out.

Whole Foods Market: what do users think?

Win Anderson: This great review is solely because of the wonderful barista at the coffee shop. I was in town for a conference and went to whole foods three days in a row for coffee in the morning. Each day Tom provided wonderful coffee and friendly service. He is polite and personable and efficient. (This was in stark contrast to some of the register checkout clerks, who were downright rude.). The police officers were very friendly!

Cyndy Nguyen: I came here for the coffee bar and had a wonderful experience. The barista, Tom, was friendly and helpful. He gave me some information about the decaf coffee (doesn’t contain any chemicals). He gave me a sample of one of their green smoothies and made me a delicious brown butter cookie latte. I’ll come back for the great customer service.

Barry Bub: I am usually willing to pay more at a Whole Foods market because I generally enjoy the shopping experience there. This particular store not, for a number of reasons. Here’s one. When I asked the checkout person, politely, to tape the lid of the soup container to prevent it coming off - I had a long walk home - she yelled at me and stormed off. She was replaced by male who told me they no no longer tape or rubber band lids. I guess the few seconds it takes to do so eats into their profits. And what has happened to customer service? I agree with the previous reviewer, it’s a management or corporate problem.

Melissa Colón: I love stopping by the coffee bar for my daily fix. My drink is always perfectly made and the conversation is great! I’m hoping that eventually the hot bar breakfast will work its way back up to how great it was pre-pandemic.

Natalia Delgado: Had a really had experience at this location. We were accused of stealing by the manager just because we had our own cart with groceries from trader joes. The grocery store is 15 minutes from where we live and we go walking so we have no other option than to go to both stores in one trip. He made us feel very uncomfortable the whole time and followed us throughout the store. Another person had their own cart and was putting groceries in there but it didn’t seem like he said anything to them while we had our whole foods items in a separate basket. He approached again at checkout (after making it very obvious that he was talking about us with another employee) and said we couldn’t bring our own cart because “it confuses the employees”. I explained that we had a receipt for the groceries we had in our cart but he didn’t seen to care. We don’t have the luxury of a car or leaving nearby the store and we had never had any problems with going to two stores in one trip with our cart.

Caroline McGuire: Tom makes the best smoothies at the coffee & smoothie bar! The whole staff is amazing and the store is always so well organized. Cannot recommend this spot enough!

Purple Patch: what do users think?

India Lindsay: We LOVE this restaurant. Recommend catching the happy hour that’s until 7 on weekdays Every dish and drink is so yummy. Waiters are friendly and offer great service. Atmosphere is nice but relaxed. You don’t need reservations and very affordable with big portions. My Filipino friend said it was some of the best spicy fried chicken he’s had Celebrated my birthday here and they gave us a delicious serving of ube bread pudding, best bread pudding I’ve had!

Betsy W: First off the staff here is AMAZING...when dining in ask for: Jose, he will definitely take good care of you. Alex, their General Manager, is super knowledgeable especially with the history of the restaurant. I ordered the Pancit Mahal to go and me and my husband enjoyed it so much that for my birthday ( Dec 16) my husband surprised me with a delivery from Purple Patch. Plus, Jose made sure I enjoyed my birthday with a dessert and a personalized note to me with best wishes. I highly recommend Purple Patch if you want to try authentic traditional Filipino food. 👍👍👍

Alexis Colon: Went to the Purple Patch after a day at the zoo! It was so great! We sat outside and the food was very flavorful with good portions. Our waitress was super nice and the service overall was great

James Wang: A quaint little restaurant that makes the most of its space in a small underground hallway. The staff are very attentive and caring and go above and beyond. They are known for their hot cocktails (their hot apple cider is incredible) and their brussel sprout starter that is superb. I quite enjoyed their pork belly adobo, however the portion size was smaller than I had expected and the sauce slightly saltier than I would have liked. However, the meat was very tender and the rice was well cooked. To end the meal, I would recommend their Halo Halo dessert (Filipino version of a shaved ice) or any dish served with Ube ice cream since it tastes delicious. Overall, great dining experience but the main entree left me wanting more.

Jonathan Ng: As a tourist to DC, I had heard of the famous Purple Patch restaurant from many of my fellow Filipinos (or kababayan), and I sought it out on my last night at DC. It took a moment to find the restaurant in the dimly lit streets of suburban DC, however I was pleasantly surprised to find Purple Patch well-staffed. As a Filipino food traditionalist, I decisively ordered Arroz Caldo (as an appetizer), Pork Belly Adobo & Garlic Rice (as a main), and Brazo De Mercedes (as dessert), paired alongside a Frozen Dalandan shake. Without a shadow of a doubt, I was thoroughly delighted by the wonderful tastes of home as I completed my meal. The Arroz Caldo was a perfectly calibrated recipe that accentuated the ginger and the meat stock. The Pork Adobo was a fantastic callback to my home with its generous serving of cubed pork and vegetables. And finally, the Brazo De Mercedes was a creative innovation of traditional Filipino dessert and a fruity presentation.
