Tropicalia Lounge: what do users think?

Melissa Sky: Great location, vibes, cocktails and music (Live and djays). Diversity is the spice of life and Tropicalia takes you outside the "bubble". Mix up the music! Irie!

Bin “habesh times” Fi: It’s an okay club seen. Bouncer asked me for money as a bribe because my friend forgot her Id. The music is a C+ not very good or bad. Drinks are fair priced considering the area and the time.

Karoll William Visual Arts: Learn to pronounce I just got mistreated by the person at the door. I visited this bar as part of the artists that performed that night, at a time when I went out to smoke a cigarette on the sidewalk in front, he tells me with an attitude that I had to go to the corner. I replied that I was on the street, that it is a public place and told me that then my night was "over" and that he would not let me in again. Of course I went to another friendlier place. I attach the picture of the stupid.

Alex Lima: This venue tend to have very good bands. But, they cut the shows off too early to give the stage to the house DJ that is nothing more than average. The venue does nit sell food and the drinks are somewhat overpriced.

scott g: Fun place. Went for a charity event and had a band playing. Great atmosphere

Edward Eilers: Open later and good atmosphere, decent drinks. Well lit areas plus spaces to sit and also less light in some areas. Overall as a small club it is good for the area, another way to unwind.

frank swyca: Topicalia Lounge is a really cool night spot. Eclectic live music and decent DJ later at night keeps the vibe popping. I took a friend from out town there and they loved it! My favorite spot in that 14th St. club area. Worth checking out if you have not.

CLUB ELEVATE: what do users think?

Kristal “Kick it With Kristal” Bartley: This was a very nice vibe for Poetry on a Wednesday night in DC.I love the lights and hookahs! Limited parking.Street Parking.Security.Clean.Limited Seating. Multilevel. Art. Outside seating. I’d come back.

erik rodriguez: I was traveling to see a old friend of mine from high school I had big expectations for the capital of the United States, being that I was only gonna be in town for only 2 nights I was hoping the one night we could go out would be a blast, unfortunately the could be further from the truth. First the bouncers were VERY rude to us and for most of the people in line to the point were there could’ve been an altercation between us, but we tried to not let that ruin our night, thinks only got worse from there. We requested a table before hand and pay a good bit to get it, turns out they couldn’t give us the table because they apparently already gave it to another group, things could’ve be fine if we simply got our refund but unfortunately that wasn’t the case, after pleading our case over and over with to the management we decided to leave CLUB ELEVATE to go to some bar down the road before heading back home with this bad taste in our mouths. Would not recommend this place even to my enemies. Thumbs down

terry: When I was 10 years old I had a dream. A dream so vivid that I woke up frantically from my bed, and ran to my mothers bedside crying. When asked what’s wrong all I could muster was “they robbed me”. To my surprise, it almost seemed like dejavu when I realized Club Elevate refused to refund me for a section I never used. $600 is what I paid. $600 is what I will never get back. All I can ask is that as someone reading this review, as someone who is considering attending such a terrible establishment, please “elevate” your standards and go elsewhere. I leave you with a quote by Winston Churchill and he said “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Even without the $600 in my bank account, I will continue to live, I will continue to prosper. But I will never, and I mean never, stop hating on Club Elevate. In other words, DONT COME HERE.

Shukriyyah Greaves: This place desperately wants to be an upscale club but for the amount of money I rather go to echo stage or 9:30 club . They want you to pay 5 star prices just so they can serve you drinks out of red solo cups. The booths are falling apart dingy like an old dennys. The door person or whomever they are was in sweat pants collecting payment like she rolled out of bed. Can’t enforce a dress code if your staff looks homey. The bottle service girls are cute , bartenders are great and can make a decent cocktail. The owner is oblivious cheap so this club reads cheap which is unfortunate. Don’t plan on going back here, this felt like a last stop for minors or a place for kids because they didn’t really card and the standards are appropriate for such . We had fun dancing. It was a good crowd, felt safe, the woman to man ratio was about 4-1 which is a bonus anywhere ! Just had the plastic cup situation and the cheap furniture…like come on, and of course the bathroom was disgusting and probably only gets cleaned in the morning.

Malick Dakama: A bit disappointing 😞. The place is a bit expensive for the overall quality of the place. The DJ was all over the place and letting people down in the middle of good songs; not if he was noticing the empty dance right after each time he does that. But the staff was very nice. Elevate can do better!

Byron Medina: Absolutely worst establishment in the DC area, stole $600 from me and after being promised a refund has been terrible to communicate with as he hasn’t responded to me. Wish I could leave zero stars and never come back ever again.

Decades DC: what do users think?

Alex Vlad: I’ve been coming to this spot for years now, and it never fails to deliver that one-of- a kind retro timeless experience. The floors are all unique with their own theme— from 2000s to 90s to hip-hop/ and an EDM rooftop, music and DJs are always on point, and the staff and security are always very friendly and helpful. The venue is clean and hand sanitizer stations are offered; the staff wears masks, and considering we are in hard times with COVID im happy I can still enjoy clubbing, and a night out with friends safely. Overall, I would highly recommend Decades to anyone as its gives you a little bit of everything and more!

Kim & Ben: We were a little nervous to visit decades after reading the reviews, but we ended up going for a bit to celebrate a friend’s birthday and actually had a great time! The line to enter was long, but moved quickly. They did a thorough check point where they pat you down, check bags and check jacket pockets. You get carded at the door and have to pay a $20 cover if you don’t have a VIP pass. We all got the free VIP pass off their website and, so we didn’t have to pay the cover fee. Once inside, you can visit each floor of the club to get a different music experience. The top floor was the most crowded, and it was very hot, but our group still had a good time dancing. One of the middle floors (I think it was the 90’s floor) was less crowded, and you could feel the air conditioning, so we stayed there most of the time. Our friends said the bartenders were nice, and we didn’t have any negative experiences with bouncers either. We had a ton of fun at Decades and would love to visit again sometime! If you haven’t been, I’d stop by and give it a try!

Itzel Trejo: I used to love this place but friends and I went to a day party after Sunday brunch and saw a rat right on the rooftop bar. We notified staff and they did not care. We decided to leave because the rat was right next to the bottles so we felt uncomfortable getting drinks. Staff response was that we live in a city and rats are everywhere and although I understand there’s still expectations when it comes to rats near what costumers consume. I would have expected a better costumer service response. Go at your own risk.

Niyah Baptiste: I would definitely recommend, me and my sisters celebrated our birthday here and it was on point!! Music was amazing drinks were decent priced. I’d definitely suggest getting there early so you don’t get caught in the rush of people tryna get to the “good”floors. It was definitely the vibe 10/10 totally going back.

Ali Hamza Dar: I have the worst experience in this club. First we almost spend over 1500 on Thursday night on my friend birthday. Towards the end of it I wanted to use the bathroom and this one security guy did not let me use the bathroom. After I insist I really need to use it badly than he told me that if I give him 100 dollar and the other security guy 100 then he will let me use the bathroom. What a worst service is that. I ask him who is the owner of this place let me speak to him and he refuses me and told me get out of here. Is this how you treat with the customer. It was so terrible. There many other people standing and watching this incident.

Deanna Joan: You’ll have a good time, but be prepared to spend a lot of money! $20 cover charge and pricey drinks. But it’s spacious and clean, it doesn’t get too crowded, and they play some GREAT throwback music. Pick your battles!

Steven Fernando: Overpriced and crowded. Rude staff. Was being charged $14 for Coronas and other cheap beer pre covid, can only imagine what it’s like now. Paying that much for drinks youd atleast expect to be treated with some respect

Drew Inge: If you’re an LGBTQ person do NOT come here. First of all, aside from the fact that this bar is not lgbt friendly it’s absolutely disgusting. The first floor of decades smells like a portopotty. The drinks are ridiculously overpriced compared to any other comparable “club” in DC. The cover is $20 which would be fine if it had any redeemable qualities worth the cover. As far as it being not LGBTQ friendly, the staff is not trained on how to handle LGBTQ people, the bathrooms are labeled All Gender but they have staff guarding them(even though they are single stall) allowing only females into one and “men”(those they deem visible men) into the room with only urinals available(on the rooftop) My personal experience on the rooftop after entering the “all gender” restroom was I was pulled out by the staff and then told I was not allowed to use that facility and I could enter the mens room because that room was for women only. I politely informed them I did not want to use the room with the urinals and the straight men and was then yelled at by security and told that I had no choice. IF YOU ADVERTISE ALL GENDER RESTROOMS THEN YOU STAND BY THAT STATEMENT. Will not return after this. I’ve visited numerous times and had multiple bad experiences but returned because I have so many straight friends who visit and want to experience different decades of music. If you want to experience the cliche of every decade and it be absolutely horrible then by all means please visit Decades DC but I’d spend my money at other establishments that cater to their clients much better; lgbtq or not.

Sophie Wophie: Me and my friends used to love to come to decades but each time we get some sort of mistreatment. The guards are rude and RACIST. One time one of the guard told us ‘this ain’t your s**t, when we try to get to our VIP table. Ever time we go there it feels like they assume just because we’re black we can’t afford VIP. I’m tired of this racist treatment, I will take my money somewhere where it’s appreciated.

Union Stage: what do users think?

Tricia Alletzhauser: We had a great time here. We saw Niko Moon. It was an excellent show and the bar is a decent venue to watch a show. The bar staff was very nice. Overall, we had a great time.

Dave Nemetz: Great little joint to hear some live music. Easy to get to, just a short walk from the L’Enfant Plaza Metro stop. Saw Will Hoge, and was right up next to the stage. Looking forward to seeing more shows here soon.

Oooma L.: A most excellent venue if standing (as in NO seating for regular ticket holders) amid a sea of mostly unmasked bipeds on a concrete floor in dark, windowless dungeons excites you. Featured music acts are one or two steps above what is offered at local suburban coffee houses. Meh. Most of the staff were polite.

Ann Brennan: Great venue for music. Very intimate without being too crowded. Clean. Easy to park. Good beer selection and attentive staff.

Business type: Live music venue

Flash: what do users think?

Michael Jaffee: Unlike any venue in DC and unlike majority of lounge style intimate clubs you’ve been to in the US. The music is incredibly unique for DC as they play deep house, tech, tech house, and other amazing sub-genres and the initiate dark setting with the [flash]ing lights is like nowhere you’ve ever been. It’s an absolute must if you’ve never been or are visiting DC and are trying to go vibe/dance the night away.

Aránzazu Ascunce: State of the art with a massive function one sound system. Multiple levels. Amazing lights, service, hospitality, staff. Global deejays regularly. Shout out to the booking agent. Come as you are. Not pretentious. The only rule is no flash at Flash. Highly recommend it to get your dance on and a pulse on the global underground. See you soon!

Ayesha SH: This is a hardcore EDM club. They have the rooftop, second floor and ground floor. The night I was there, all three areas had different DJ’s. You have to buy tickets on the website to get it - reasonably priced. Very decent crowd. The manager is Boris and he is awesome! Please visit and you will love it.

Denonte McKinney: I hope management reads this because coming to Flash was absolutely the worst experience ever. First of all, they made us stand outside in the drizzling rain until nearly 1:30am because we didn’t purchase a ticket online. The security guards rationale was, “Because of Covid we have to monitor the number of people coming in.” This does not make sense because masks are NOT required for admission, people with tickets are able to walk in without proof of vaccination, and they let everyone in anyways. Making a crowd of paying customers wait 1-2 hours for admission into a BAR is ridiculous. Also, they only have a CASH admission. In 2022, I need for this venue to upgrade and get a card reader, outside ATM, or cash app because the ATMs in the area are closed after 5pm. Yes, the bank ATMs (BOA & WF) close their doors at 5pm. You have to walk BLOCKS to grab cash and to come back. Lastly, the security guards are rude. They were shouting out, “If you have a tickets you can come right to the front, and if you don’t then IDK what to tell you” to the 50+ people waiting in line in the drizzling rain, this was inconsiderate & inappropriate. Mind you the security guards at the entrance are eating pizza, smoking cigarettes, and completely disregarding the crowd. My suggestions for management are: 1. Allow ALL paying customers admission into the venue. Do NOT make them wait in the drizzling rain for 1-2 hours when there are BARELY people going inside with a ticket. 2. Let customers pay via CashApp OR allow paying customers to use their cards/Apple Pay to purchase tickets at the door. It’s 2021. 3. Do not use Covid as an excuse to not allow people in when you’re going to let them in regardless. 4. Hire new security guards. I am very disappointed in this venue. Hopefully by next week they’ll at least have CashApp.

Charles P.: I love this place but the girl working the ticket booth at about 10:45 on 3/25 couldn’t believe that I didn’t realize it was an offsite ticket for Pot-Pan. She was pretty rude. I get being worn down by the end of the night, but to be in such a way 45 minutes into her shift was impressive. Or depressive? Muuuuust be rough. Not for her. But for the people who have to work with her.

Louis V: Great place to go out and dance. I met a lot of nice people and had a lot of fun. Music was awesome, drink was excellent and not so expansive.

Fern M: During this pandemic time, Flash has turn its rooftop space to a sit down place for Electronic music lover. Reservation is required for seats with 90 mins time limited. Same regulation of wearing mask, remain seated etc. are applied. Sandwiches menu are added along with drink menu. It seems like drinks were customized for fall season, we tried all the cocktails on the menu but only 2 we like( don’t remember the name.) It was ok, we were happy to help support the place and at the end of the night, we ordered our favorite drinks out of menu instead. The staff are super nice and attentive, ask them question regarding to the venue if you want to know more. The merchandise downstairs is for purchase helping support the place. Ask staff for the website or if you have problem access it like I did, they accept cash. They said they might open for brunch with live DJ on set. If we all keep supporting this business, I’m sure we will get to have one of the coolest brunch place in DC soon. Review as of 09/2020

Nicholas Caudill: Maybe it’s my fault for showing up too late, but if the doors open at 10PM and the headliner is already gone by midnight that isn’t a real party. Cool building though

Cloak & Dagger: what do users think?

Katrina Marie: This bar has a cool vibe! Good music and lots of dancing 10/10. The bartender was exceptional! However, towards the end of my night, my friends and I returned to this bar after going next door and we were met with a security guard (who said his name was Kyle) who took it upon himself to throw his arm around me and tell me that he would let me back in based on if I was to give him my number……cringy I know After going back and forth with him about why I could come back in and my two friends couldn’t, he put his hands on my back and gently shoved me out the door. I understand closing times and not being able to accommodate people if there’s only 20-30 minutes left in the night, but NEVER has any male security guard thrown his arm around me and then shoved me out the door. Unprofessional and super uncomfortable energy. It was the WORST way to end a great night here

Aminah Imani: DJ was lit. I came for a comedy show hosted by Rallo, it was a good vibe. The venue is nice. I would come back for sure!

Sharetta King: Cloak & Dagger made my VIP birthday party an experience to never forget! Everyone had an amazing time and we have future plans to celebrate there again. Sonny and his staff were phenomenal. A member along with security checked on us often. The service was great and always on time and they knew what we wanted before having to ask. The atmosphere was really fun and the DJ could not have been better. Sonny also took the time to hang out with the party and conversed with each of us much longer than other club owners had.

C Lee: Fun and casual nightlife with a great DJ and good music! We got table service and it was perfect. The area is small but it worked out well for our group. Service was excellent - she was present without being overbearing and was accommodating about splitting the check. The dance floor was packed with people ready for fun and dancing. It was cozy and comfortable - definitely not a pretentious spot. We went for a bachelorette and they did everything to make it a fun night for our soon-to-be bride. The owner was friendly and helpful. And the DJ and host were friendly and really good at getting the crowd going.

Christina Tang: One thing I love about Cloak & Dagger is that you will always have a great time. The music is always hype, the crowd is filled with positive vibes and high energy. The dj at Cloak & Dagger really knows what type of music to play to please a diverse crowd. The bartenders always makes my drinks perfectly! Out of all the clubs on U st. , I know that if I want to go somewhere that has good music, good alcohol, and a good crowd, Cloak & Dagger is the place to go. Not to mention, the owners are super sweet and genuine. They will always take care of you and make sure you have a fun time. Anytime I have been to Cloak & Dagger, I would stay until 2-3am without realizing it, because I would be having such a great time that I would forget to check my phone. 10/10 would recommend!

Rajit Sarkar: This is a bar on U St. The drinks are expensive, but not very good. Would not recommend to anyone.

Royce Glover: Ya I have to give it up to my man John ,his club is great good vibes. I have done alot of work for him in the past electrical, floor tile, paint, put in new fans

nia harley: Came here for NYE and won’t come back . The advertised dj was not there and the bartenders are lazy and rude .Shots are over priced and gratuity is automatically included which the bartenders did not deserve .

Yvonne Truong: I NEVER write reviews but let me tell you the place is amazing! Filled with good energy and a lovely atmosphere. Every time I am there the owner (Sonny) always makes sure I have a good time.

Eighteenth Street Lounge: what do users think?

Love Lacy: Been here several times before. Great to see the transformation into the Bacardi Rum Room. I love the vintage feel of it. Lots of modern hacks but it gives you vibes of a time that has passed.

Le Mont Bennett (Mr Monte): As I topped the stairs I was transported to a magical space, Victorian parlor meets speak easy, with a few sprinkles of rave. The vibe was chill and but energetic, like meeting friends one has not seen in awhile. I met new people and had my soul filled with good music.

Will Sullivan: My favorite spot in DC. I love the different rooms and vibes in each. From live bands, DJ’s, an outdoor bar, to a nice relaxing lounge; this place has it all. I heard the owners are pretty cool too 🤙

Cary Owsley: Sweet night spot in downtown DC. There are four separate dancefloors that all place different music. On the top floor, they had a live jazz band playing as well. Reasonably priced drinks and a coat check as well. Keep in mind there is a $10 cover charge after 11.

Sharde McQueen: Loved it!!! Everything was Fabulous drinks 🍸 people and vibes! The music was definitely a delight all the varieties were amazing 😉 will return! Our server was excellent and the atmosphere couldn’t have been better !

Ella T: Incredible bar. Beautiful, smells great, and adorable bartenders. I wish I lived here. You should come and visit for sure

Rosebar Lounge: what do users think?

Lane McCall: Pros - Clean environment - Beautiful aesthetics - Great lighting effects - I got compliments lol Cons - Most bartenders are rude - $20 cover (cash only) - Venu is small and cramped - Music was severely lacking

Carson Goff: Come to this bar if you want to fear for your life. Worst crowd of any bar in DuPont. Avoid at all costs.

Tracey Hart: i fly down to dc once in a while to visit friends and family and was very disappointed to learn this place was boring and colorist. They apparently dont hire women of deeper complexions and their waitresses are online arguing, being fatphobic, and unprofessional. I could never do that and expect to keep my job but of course this place has no standards so im not too surprised. Spend your money somewhere else.

Google User: Guess you gotta be a somebody to get a table or section here, I reached out way in advance before my birthday letting them know I was interested in getting a table for when I come celebrate my birthday. Someone responded asked for my contact info, left me on read and never heard from them again. It would’ve been my first time in DC and my first time going here.

Shaneaka R.: The music was great in the room all the way to the back. Loved the decor on the ceiling. You must have to reserve the hookah because it was sold out.

soccerqueen181: Not professional! From the hiring process to the social media presence they do not know how to conduct business. They also refuse to hire women of color which is confusing because DC is referred to as chocolate city. Definitely take your business elsewhere because they need to actually learn how to run an establishment properly.

Ed E: This place is a waste of time and money. Bad music, overpriced drinks, they want to charge a lot of money to get in, bully bouncers pushing people because they feel less in their small brains, small space. There are many other options in DC than this awful place.

Brandon Jones: It might very well be awesome, but when I went, it was deadlocked in the back bar.

9:30 Club: what do users think?

Brian Copes: I believe it was my second time at this club and it was a great time! Context - I went to a pride/DJ/ drag show event, but I believe it’s a concert venue in the DC area. Security - I believe they have a metal detector and they check your bags so be prepared and consider that from a time management standpoint. Venue- it’s huge with multiple levels including bars, bathrooms and places to stand/dance/watch. I heard there’s a lower level, but last night I was just on the balcony and main floor near the stage. Vibe - loved the mood and energy. It was packed around 11PM EST even though it started at 10PM. There’s was free water, disco ball, alcohol, lights, go-go dancers and people in the mood to have a fun night. Overall, I would recommend this place for a night out.

Ian Pitts: Cozy venue with multiple bars and some food options. Parking is only a block or two away and there are options for food right nearby within walking distance. The ticket checking process was smooth and they even checked a camera that was deemed "professional" for free during the show.

Anna S: I just took my daughter and her friends to this venue for the first time for an all ages show last night. I am so glad that I did! She and her high school friends had a great time! My friend and I had a nice view from the balcony bar and were able to enjoy ourselves and have our eyes on the girls at all times. We called the club earlier in the evening and the woman who answered the phone gave us great instructions on where to park as well! They take the mask and vaccinations proof seriously as well, which made me feel more comfortable about safety. Bathrooms were clean at the beginning and f the night. Overall, for a place to get 4 decades of people all enjoying the same music and scene, the 9:30 Club did a great job.

Michelle: What an awesome venue! I recently saw one of my favorite bands here and was blown away! The sound in this club is amazing! You can feel every beat and note. Also, great staff! Keeping it safe, but fun. 👍🏻👍🏻

Tori Barker: We barely waited in line and we showed up 15 minutes before the show began which in my opinion was fantastic. When I say barely waited I mean the staff greeted us immediately, looked at our vax cards and IDs and because my boyfriend had lost his mask we had to wait 1 minute so the staff could grab us one. The staff were so kind and even though it was super cold they had such a great attitude and welcoming vibe. So thankful for everything at the venue. The people inside were also great and of course the Bartender, fantastic. I could not ask for more from this venue. The set up inside is stunning and our show was amazing! I am from NC but came up to D.C. to see Misterwives and I am so glad it did. A night to remember from start to finish, thank you 9:30 for all you do to keep entertainment alive during these times.

Nathan Faneuf: Amazing venue, been here twice so far. Would definitely see a show here. Bring ear plugs, very loud, but good sound. Drinks are expensive, 9 dollars for a shot of Jack Daniels. Friendly staff.

Osaurus G: This is a pretty good venue. Love all the bars and the openness of the floor. The balcony area offers some great views of bands (Bob Mould for me)

Aida mary: Absolutely fantastic venue for a live show! I watched Saint Paul and the Broken Bones plus Thee Sacred Souls play here. The energy was lit! Great location. Great customer service! Would definitely go again. Highly recommend

Echostage: what do users think?

Brian Copes: First time checking out this music venue space in DC. I loved the big space for DC standards. Multiple levels with plenty of bathrooms and attendants working the bathrooms too. Went to DC capital pride event and it was nice. Overall, plenty of staff to ensure your safety and good lighting along with DJs. It’s a great place to have a club night in the area.

Gavin Chen: Spectacular venue for electronic music. Strict security (goes through wallets). Free water if you walk up to the security near the stages. A lot of bathroom space available. Great audio quality and open space for dancing.

Charlie Butchko: It was awesome! I got to see DJ Diesel (Shaq) perform life. The bathrooms are very clean, with attendants there to soap your hands and hand you paper towels. As well as that, was close to the front during the performance and there was staff handing water bottles out to the crowd. I got a few drinks at the bar (tequila sunrise and 2 shots of vodka,) each were $10. By the end of the show it got pretty crowded, so if you’re claustrophobic make sure to mentally prepare yourself, or stay further away from the stage. All else aside, for sure gather a group of buddies and find a show you like to check out echostage!

Brian Keith: Great time. The staff were really professional and caring. I liked seeing how they were treating everyone. Make me feel welcome. I would definitely go back.

So Maryn: The dress code here for DJ events seem to gravitate toward “less is more” or think “beach attire”. Pants optional in the sense that bikini bottoms are acceptable as minimum bottom half. Shirt optional for some men. Beware of “bikini trains” moving quickly through a crowd. Noticed an innocent couple who got divided instantly by a train of arrogant bikini wearing club goers. If you don’t pay attention such bikini trains can step on your foot as they stampede you by. Forgot to bring my glow sticks but it was nice to see some colorful glow shoes and even glow fingertips. First level has an open wide space and second level has table service. Restrooms are easy to find and each stall has a note to remind those that only one person per stall is allowed. Once you get in past thorough security it’s not easy to get out as although exit signs are marked, where to actually exit from a lane perspective is hard to find. Parking is challenging near the venue and expect to pay $40-60 right next door. Echostage I thought you were a top notch global venue but you fell short when it comes to servicing your global clientele. An Asian bartender refused to serve us drinks at the bar even when we were standing right in front of her with no one else around. She did however serve others who approached after us asking them what they want. She seemed to be racially profiling my friend who was wearing a religious head covering. We found another bartender who was much more friendlier and we still had fun.

Aaron Shenk: This was my first time at this venue, and I was so so impressed. We saw Chelsea Cutler, and the venue and staff were so great. For starters, there were so many staff on hand to answer any questions and there was plenty of security to keep everyone feeling safe. For the actual experience, the sound system was phenomenal, the security guards passed out water bottles to the crowed between performances (!!!) and just went above and beyond the entire time. I will definitely plan on returning to this venue!

Colvin Run Dance Hall: what do users think?

Dennis Tolliver: Nice dance floor, can accommodate 50 people on dance floor with another 40 sitting at tables. Pretty, historic location.

Donna Reid: If you love charm, ambiance, a great dance floor, friendly people, great dancers who dance with their hearts and souls, this is your dancing destination! Music is always wonderful! Plenty of delicious snacks and soft drinks to keep the energy level up if you need that. The happiest place to dance in the entire metro area. Come join the fun!

Denise Ludden: Finally! A Country-Western dance in Northern Virginia! Tim Bowker does a great job as teacher and DJ. What a fun evening!

Jan Overvold: Started dancing at Colvin Run six years ago and just love it! The music is great, the dance floor is wonderful and the people are so friendly! The hall is a historic and quaint little gem tucked into the Virginia countryside. A real must see!

Conrad Heer: On January 31, 2018 I accidentally gave Colvin Run Dance Hall a two star rating. I intended to give Colvin Run Dance Hall a FIVE star rating. I have been trying to delete or edit the 01-31-2018 rating but have not been able to do so. I have been dancing at Colvin Run Dance Hall since 1998 and have always truly enjoyed the charm of the dance hall, the pleasant personalities of the dancers and the great music.

Steve Tenzer: The Tuesday night event offered a one hour west coast swing dance lesson and two hours of open dancing to recorded music. Light refreshments were offerd. The lesson was very instructive, offering a few intermediate moves and variations. The instructors were good and the dancers friendly and collegial. The mix of music offered was heavy on WCS and country 2 - step numbers, with an occasional waltz; light on core dances like cha-chas, fox trots, east coast swings and tangos; and songs for dances like samba, quickstep and merengue were not played. The building itself is very quaint and charming, being a converted 1905 vintage schoolhouse. The dance floor is a good wooden floor, but a bit on the small side. All in all a very pleasant venue for the types of dances offered, but too cramped for travelling dances like waltz and fox trot in my opinion.

Black Cat: what do users think?

Nick Pascale: performed there with my band, The Missing Peace (check us out) and the staff was extremely nice to us and treated us with utmost respect despite opening for a huge artist. Also music venues normally carry a stigma of being stingy with their alcohol in their drinks but Black Cat served great tasting, well mixed drinks - best venue i’ve experienced in the DMV area!

Ramiro Pena: My past two experiences have been dreadful. They pack the place so full of people it is really concerning. I straight up got panic attacks from just how many people are packed in post pandemic. God bless them but I guess it’s just not for me anymore. It’s so hard to ascertain when the events held here arent packed with a huge huge group of people because besides that I’m sure there are worthwhile acts to watch. I remember one group that did a really cool interpretive dance I’m sorry for the low score but thats me and I think I’m going to add some keywords so that a certain audience can understand. If you have autism or anxiety this might not be the most accesible place for you. The last two times I have been here getting a drink or even approaching the bar has been impossible. The place was so packed inevitability people were rubbing up against me CONSTANTLY. Personally I can’t stand that. This place has pinball which is nice but last time the one machine had a flipper broken. I wish I could enjoy being inside this place but theres no where to sit most of the time I feel awkward walking in and just standing around, I can’t feel comfortable dancing because theres no room to move without brushing up against someone. I just can’t stand that. This is a personal problem but if you have sensory issues like that consider this an advisement

kevin jenkins: Had a great time seeing Flobots. Bartenders are great. Tip them. Well.

JW Francis: I played here on 4/19 and had a wonderful experience! Very cool room with checkered floor. Very kind people behind the bar and working production. Two thumbs wayyyy up!

Robert Cardoni: Mid size music venue hosting indie and punk acts. Space is long and narrow - so sight lines and sound can be off near the back but it’s still a great space. They recently downsized from 2 levels to one. Kind of sad but at least they weren’t forced out of the neighborhood due to gentrification. Bring cash. No credit cards accepted They no longer have food :(

Ultrabar: what do users think?

Angela Mendoza: I went to ultra bar recently and had a much better experience than before COVID. This club has really stepped it up, it’s not over crowded by 18+ and the music has an actually updated set. I love that I can choose the music I want to hear based on the floor. Be sure to visit them all to get the full experience and if you want a really good time you might as well get a table, they have decent bottle pricing for the area. Bottle girls there are really nice, we had Katie and she made sure we had fun.

Fernando Bernardus ABT: Love Ultrabar! Great music and atmosphere throughout the multiple levels of the club. The mixed drinks and their first-rate line of imported beers are top notch and fairly priced, considering the fact that this establishment is located in the heart of the nation’s capital. Getting a table is extremely affordable and I would recommend it if you come with a big group of friends. Security is on point inside and outside the club. It’s simply the best 18+ club in DC. Special thanks to Jimmy, Giuseppe, Galen, for always providing my friends and me with courteous customer service.

Alexander Zacapa Centenario: Ultrabar happens to be among the best clubs to party in DC. The establishment has four floors with different music genres played by talented DJs, and the overall atmosphere is always entertaining. My friends and I have enjoyed table service on multiple occasions and we’ve always had a fun time. The customer service from Jimmy Mar is absolutely exceptional, I consider him a tremendous asset to Ultrabar for many reasons, as well as the entire staff who are always very welcoming, friendly, and professional. This place also has outstanding security inside and outside the club in order to ensure the safety of its patrons. It is well situated near the Verizon Center and Constitution Avenue. Check out their pictures online showing how crowded and lit this place is. It is truly amazing on so many levels. Just make sure to look your best by following their dress code. Be ready to have a good time! In conclusion, I strongly recommend Ultrabar to anyone looking to have an enjoyable night out.

Alex Gonzalez: Perfect place for those who want a bit of everything. Sometimes I get tired of hearing the same type of music so it’s nice to be able to just switch floors to get a different atmosphere instead of having to go to completely different clubs and wait in line again. It gets packed but the bartenders are really friendly so they make the wait for a drink enjoyable

Angel Long: Went there Saturday for one of my buddies birthday. The stairs are a killer but the top floor is jumping. VIP service the way to go the floor was a bit crowded for me. Our waitress took care of us she was cool and brought girls to our table.

Brittney Vo: Always a good time when you come here! I’ve always had a good night coming to ultra. The music is up to date and I love the variety they have. Each floor is such a different vibe and my favorite are the latin and hip hop floors.

Tianna Chantel: This club is super cool! It has multiple floors and they each play different music so there’s a vibe for everyone! The service is fast and all of the bartenders are hot! Highly recommend!

Stephanie Trelles: I came to visit Washington DC for the weekend for Easter. My husband and I went to Ultrabar waiting in line for a little over 30 minutes just to get to the door and staff checking ID told my husband he was not allowed in because he had sneakers on. When I asked how come if every other male there had sneakers on and it was never mentioned in the dress code online. He responded very rudely and very unprofessional. The experience would have been a lot better if staff would have treated us fairly. I would think twice about attending this nightclub.

Xinyi Yin: The atmosphere, drinks, and music are great! They have a variety of different music on each floor, so you will not get bored of the place. Love the bartenders, they are super friendly and fun to talk to.

Abigail: what do users think?

DJ TankBeats: The bar is nice looking and really modern, but there is one staff member who believes he is GOD and kicked me out of the DJ booth after 3-4 hrs of rocking the joint then tell me to see him outside and had My Wife, Friends and other staff members get my DJ equipment out of the club! Oh and he works at the door at St. Yves!

Serguel Akiti: DON’T GO To THE ABIGAIL! As Howard Students we decided to patronize a local black venue. We arrived in a group of 12, 5 gentlemen and 7 ladies. Security let the first 2 ladies in for free. From there, the night went down hill. Although we arrived while the venue was still empty, the older gentleman at security decided after the 2 ladies, “everybody is paying $20.” When we asked if we could use a card or if they had an atm, we were directed to the bank across the street. One member of the group pointed out how the policy makes no sense, if we have to pay, there should be a way to pay on site. We were told at that point, “you don’t have to come in then.” The policy felt sketchy and very discretionary. Please patronize black venues, however save your money, time, and energy. DON’T GO TO THE ABIGAIL!

Ryan R: Abigails was decent. First time going there this past weekend and unless you have a table reserved its nothing more than a straight walk from the entrance to the bar. The space to socialize is the path along the bar and straight towards the back to the restrooms. To the right after entering is more spacious but reserved for VIPs and blocked off by ropes. Still a decent spot to hit up for a night out

Miguel Castro: Buyer beware. Tickets bought through Eventbrite is a scam. Cover charge is overpriced. Venue is a joke.

Emmet Devlin: Came for a holiday party costing $50 a head, venue cut off the open bar half way through in an announcement then service proceeded to be terrible. Wouldn’t suggest booking this place in the future

Living Room DC: what do users think?

Sara O'Day: If I could give this place zero stars I would. Went to a show they were hosting (didn’t go during club hours). Their ATM inside was broken and I needed cash so I was instructed by a security member inside and the bartender to go to the ATM right next door and I would be allowed back in. The bouncer at the door stopped me and told me I would only be allowed to go back inside if I hooked up with him later and then kissed me without my consent. When I was able to get back in (with a little help from a kind stranger) I went to tell the security member what happened and he took me to the manager. The manager said he would “review” the tape but there was nothing else he could do. Upon returning to my friends the party sitting next to us told me this isn’t the first time this has happened at this spot and management does nothing. I had to have a security member walk me out at the end of the show because I was freaking out.

Laura Murgas: My review if for the bar part. The bartender was a blond woman, no idea of her name but she was not nice at all. We got tequila shots and we got charged a 20% mandatory tip (which is insane when there is literally no preparation in a plan shot) and I ask her for salt and she responded super rude and never got me the salt.

Justin David Kondrat: HOMOPHOBIC atmosphere within lack luster costumer service. I was shocked that places like this still exist in D.C. With blatant tokenizing of people of color for bridal parties I felt extremely uncomfortable. I felt bad for the Drag performers since they were wonderful but not sure why/how an art form such as Drag matches with such backward thinking , services and atmosphere. It was very odd to say the least. If Zero stars were an option I would follow other Google reviewers. I discourage supporting places like this as their outward disrespect justify racist, homophonic and poor business practices. Yikes!!! There are plenty of other places in DC that can fit your needs while respecting all of the communities in our society. I need some sage and a long shower.

J A: First red flag: There were no people in line and we entered through the lane that was most direct of our walking path. The security said if we didn’t have a table we have to walk to the other lane that was LITERALLY 5 STEPS AWAY WITH NO LINES IN EITHER LANES. Second red flag: I ordered five shots and the old women bartender automatically added a $10 tip to the tab. Third red flag: the Dj had ZERO sense of good music. He played gasolina and danza Kuduro OVER THREE TIMES. One time is enough. The dj played oldddddd 2000s songs like bed rock. Fourth red flag: Males at this place are truly disgusting. They cannot keep their hands to themselves. They get angry if you deny yourself to speak to them. Security sees males harassing females and turn a blind eye until you have to approach them and tell them you’re being harassed. Bottom line: I do not recommend this place if you want an eventful night. DC has a lot of night life and this is by far my worst experience. Females, save yourself from disappointment.

Milan Mittra, Esq.: Worst DJ that exists in DC. Terrible music, all night. He has no skill. Just the worst, most boring music you can imagine…..ALL NIGHT LONG…. Painful experience…..avoid this DJ!! Stay away from the Living Room!

LaShondra Graham: Went here for a show. The drinks were overpriced and the club was very small. I enjoyed the show, but the club was just...meh 🤷🏾‍♀️

miranda raney: Paid a $20 cover for each of my (4) friends and I this past Friday night and was told mine was taken care of because it was my birthday. Just checked my bank account and was actually charged $120 ($40 over what I was told). Poor experience on top of being lied to and over-charged at the door. Super disappointed in this place.

edward adams: Great place to have a get together awesome DJs wonderful visual attractions the staff was incredible I can’t wait to go back and have a party with all of my friends and meet some new ones

State Theatre: what do users think?

Daniel W: Lots of fun. Comedy show. Service was good. Show was good Got the grilled wings and blue moon beers. Doors opened at 1900 show started at 2030. Got there at 1930. Place was setup for comedy show specifically. Tables on first floor (half reserved (2 days in advance) half first come first serve with food minimum purchase) upstairs had balcony, movie theatre seats and high chairs with drink rail. The balcony had about 20 seats along rail but is mostly for standing. Bathrooms clean and venue were old (1920s movie theatre) but clean. Will definitely be returning. Configuration is different for different show types (like concerts). Parking was easy (hospital parking garage across street).

N. Moore: Nice Venue! Friendly staff. Enjoyed food and drink, plus comedy show a little over 20 bucks.

Chloie French: I was having a great time. Then a waitress yelled at me to be quiet during a comedy show…….. the people behind me were also laughing very loud. Then when I went to the bar to order a drink she gave me very ugly looks. I felt very uncomfortable and will not be coming back. I really do not understand what I did to deserve this behavior. Other than that the drinks and food were having good. I just felt so uncomfortable from her being nasty to me I will not be coming back. I will also be posting about this on all my social media.

Anthony Shoraka: Good food ... full bar ... attentive and friendly service ... and FREE live music in an outdoor setting ... what more can you possibly ask for?

Ramiro Marquez: We had our wedding reception here and are absolutely thrilled with how everything turned out. The staff was super helpful and really went above and beyond. The communication was great during planning. For the event, we really felt like they were happy to be there. Everything went without any issues whatsoever. If you’re considering this as a venue for a reception, I would highly encourage you to do so.

Adam Grafton: Visited during the Demonatized Tour.A thoroughly excellent venue with a variety of seating, a fantastic menu and wonderful service! I do advise getting the steak & cheese with fries~

Dustin R: Surprisingly spacious inside. Food was good, we has the loaded tots with chili and the tots were crispy even though it was covered in cheesy chili goodness, was definitely enough for 2. Also had the chicken tender and they were good also. Mixed drinks were like $8 but considering the location and that its an entertainment venue i guess thats not too bad. Would definitely attend events here again

Opera Ultra Lounge: what do users think?

Denise Morris: Fun place the music selection is a nice mix of hip hop r&b Afro beats and a bit Latin but def they feel the audience .. bathroom ls are typical for the club… we had a section and it was cool

Eboni: Definitely enjoyed myself for my sisters bday party!! The place was JUMPING🙂

Jayla Green: I got a table here about 3years ago & paid over $800. The bouncer came to kick us out of the section because we wasn’t keeping bottles coming. I would never support this club again.

Nicole Johnson: Went here on Saturday and it was sooo packed you couldn’t even see the lay out of the venue! And it was $40 per person for a cover charge!!! I have been to WAY better clubs in Vegas & Miami and never paid that for a cover in my life! Not worth it!

April: First time partying in DC this place is amazing I definitely recommend for a great night out

K B: Service is terrible. Bouncers are rude. Hookah is electronic. I will never come here by choice, just when invited. I only gave it two stars because the inside looks nice.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater: what do users think?

Sara Borgeson: The shows at Arena Stage are absolutely outstanding on so many levels! Give yourself a gift and get to one (or all) of their shows. I especially love all of the different stages they have at their disposal! The diversity they bring to the DC theatre scene is needed and absolutely wonderful. 5 stars, highly recommend!!

Andrea Wu: I came here to watch Seven Guitars on a Friday night recently, and the venue was quite awesome. I got under 30 tickets right a few hours just before the show, and they checked for covid vaccination and ID at the door. The venue was really clean and so were the bathrooms. The stage was unique as the audience sat all around the stage, really cool! The show itself was just alright as the story was slow in the beginning but picked up at the end. Cool spot though!

MJ Bryant: Always entertaining! Plays cover historical events, places and people. Casts are extraordinary, realistic and take time to listen to audience after the plays. Awesome venue. Covid safety precautions.

Capital Turnaround: what do users think?

Kristen Fagley: We rented The Capital Turnaround for our wedding and would highly recommend it to any couple looking for a unique and memorable venue. Eddie and the team at IMPACT Collective are true event pros who understand how to manage all details to ensure a smooth production. They worked with us to handle challenges with COVID procedures and mandates required by the D.C. government. They provided the peace of mind we needed to feel completely at ease and excited for our big day!

Austin Graff: Locals call this historic blue building in Navy Yard the “Blue Castle.” It’s a quirky looking building with a rich story. In the 19th century, the building was a car barn for one of the busiest trolley lines in Washington, D.C. Since then, it’s been many things. Recently, National Community Church restored the building and turned it into an impressive music venue, event space, community space. My family visited for the first time for their Christmas Village event for the neighborhood complete with santa photo ops, train rides, a hot cocoa and cider bar and more. It’s one example of free events for the community. The space itself is beautifully restored maintaining its industrial feel. The ceilings are high and brick exposed. There are multiple venue rooms, a spacious lobby and a play area for kids with a rock climbing wall. If you have a chance to go to one of their community events, make it a priority.

Madeline Tucker: We held a welcome party for our wedding guests at Capital Turnaround the night before our wedding. It was an amazing experience and our guests loved it! The space itself is really cool and set with beautiful furniture, so it requires very little extra decoration. Eddie and the Impact Collective team made our party run so smoothly. Also, using their preferred vendors made it so easy on us. It was the perfect way to kick off our wedding weekend!

Carter Leach: I saw Kings Kaleidoscope here May 28th 2022. The venue is AWESOME. The air temperature was super comfortable, friendly staff, and the live mixing was probably the best I have ever heard. Will definitely be back.

Deniece Laurent-Mantey: The capital turnaround and the impact team are great! They were extremely flexible and accommodating, especially because we hosted our event during the surge of the pandemic! They made things easy and less stressful. Beautiful venue, modern and exciting.

Cale Jr: Saw my first show there last night (Altin Gun) and was very impressed with this venue. The relatively steep incline on the floor and different levels meant sight lines were great. Chairs are comfy with drink holders and are more spacious than Lincoln/Lisner/Warner. Sound was excellent. Staff was efficient and nice.

Junipa Suslu: Great venue! There are nice lounge space, a decent amount of bathrooms and friendly staff. But the stage needs some help. The lighting for the musicians was set up so they only shine behind them and several times the lead musicians face couldn’t even be seen. Sometimes the light was full white / not easy on the eyes. Then there’s the sound. While the instruments were audible and perfect volume for the venue, the vocals were turned down, not distinguishable, so the harmony of sound was lost. For these reasons I’m taking one star off. The sound needed some improvement and focus. While I enjoyed many aspects of the venue, this is a pretty important one to improve upon. I’d definitely come back though.

Michaela: Beautiful inconspicuous venue for any event. They do a great job turning an auditorium into an engaging space for a wedding. The open hall has plenty of space for tables and a dance floor. There was beautiful use of uplighting that made this place magical. Plenty of little nooks to explore and an amazing bathroom mirror for selfies. :-)

Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Silver Spring: what do users think?

Jessica Oliver: I found a Groupon for Arthur Murray and it was an awesome deal! My (now) husband and I took a couple of private dance lessons a week out from our wedding. We worked with Sydney and she was amazing at teaching us a few steps for our first dance and making us feel a lot more comfortable about it. The classes were also a lot of fun and everyone who works there is extremely friendly and welcoming; I definitely plan on going back again some time! Thank you guys for your help!

Megane Muluh: Sydney was amazing. I loved her energy, excitement, and patience. She definitely convinced me and my fiancé to take some more classes for our wedding.

Carolyn Olsen: We love the staff and instructors at Arthur Murray, Silver Spring! Everyone is so friendly. The instructors are very skilled and do a great job of customizing our lessons to our abilities and interests. They also have helped us by making videos of parts of our lessons so that we can practice at home. Learning to dance at Arthur Murray, Silver Spring has been lots of fun. The pandemic has been a challenging time. The staff and instructors have done an amazing job of providing a safe environment...masks, hand sanitizing, socially distancing, limiting the number of people, and cleaning. For those who may prefer them, private and group Zoom lessons are available, too.

Margaret Anderson: At my request, my husband bought me dance lessons as a Christmas present. We enjoyed a series of group and individual lessons from very professional and fun teachers near our home in Silver Spring. Arthur Murray Dance Studio instructors were fun and relatable that it was absolutely enjoyable. We picked up some good dance steps and like practicing dancing together at home.

Billy Patterson: If you want to learn to dance and meet new people Arthur Murray Dance Center Silver Spring is where you want to go. I have been going there for several months and the experience continues to be delightful. The facilities are first-rate. The instructors are exceptional and caring and the whole environment is welcoming. The learning experience is comfortable in that you can go to weekly group classes and practice parties to augment your private lessons. There is also a weekly dance where you can put it all together and just have a good time. You can do as little or as much as you like. If you want a comfortable, fun place to learn to dance, join me at Arthur Murray Dance Center Silver Spring.
