Blick Art Materials: what do users think?

Sue I: I’ve been going to art stores for 40 years and in all that time, I’ve never met a more knowledgable art supply salesperson than Sean at Blick Art Materials, DC. He gave thoughtful and useful suggestions for my art project. He also taught me how to use materials I never have used before. Sean’s professionalism and experience is outstanding. His tremendous kindness is un-matched and Blick is very lucky to have Sean representing them.

vivian siebert: Shop with many varieties of professional products, good prices, friendly attendants but need more information about the products to help.Check products and price tags I ended up buying a product with twice the price exposed ...

Camille Murray: Love to come here the associates are very nice and knowledgeable. They really do have everything you need for beginners to advanced artist of all forms. My copic and prismacolor markers are cheaper here for me or anyone if your a member or not.

Ana Delmont: Very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff! Great selection of paints, canvases, brushes, and everything I needed. Just walking around the store gave me so many more ideas from their wide selection of products, and it all came out way cheaper than I expected. It’s now my go-to arts and crafts store!

Beat Ammann: Very friendly staff and a very wide variety of things, including for art projects with kids!

Jossman Garcia: Hi. Blick art materials is a nice store, I would say better than Michael’s, especially on prices. However, I went there on Saturday with my girlfriend and I left feeling very uncomfortable and unwelcome as a Latino man. I am guessing it was the manager (?), but an employee followed me as I walked through the store, asking me if I needed something/help several times even after I said “I don’t need help, thanks.” I was also taking a look at some standalone product insets (like Bob Ross products and pens) near the registers, but not going up to the registers, and I was asked by the same employee if I was ready to check out at the registers. I felt rushed to leave. It was an uncomfortable experience to feel followed around the store and alienated as a suspicious person when I would gladly pay for any product I want to purchase. Moving forward, please reflect on how you treat people who may not look like your average customer.

Michaels: what do users think?

Raymond Powell: Got charged $8 for 30 minutes of parking on a weekend day. There are other locations with free parking. The store itself is fine and somewhat busy. Staff are helpful and informative to help you find what you want. There are always sales coming and going.

Rickey Anderson: They have so many wonderful items to complete any DIY craft you have in mind

David Zeledon: The framing department is simply fantastic. I got three diplomas framed here and Sonya that helped me out was the best. She works meticulously and her attention to detail and customer satisfaction is second to none!! Thanks again, again.

HAPPY CRAFTY CAT: I was trying to find this paper pad at various locations in my area. However, online it says the stores in my area have them i go there and nothing. It has been two weeks and yet nothing. I was told to give it some days and i did. OFCOURSE nothing. I do appreciate the staff who went out of their way to look for it at the Wisconsin ave location. It seems there is a system mix up online as i found other crafty people have been looking for it too. The IT TEAM SHOULD FIX THIS. VERY MISS LEADING ONLINE WHEN IT SAYS WHAT LOCAL STORES HAVE WHAT IT IS THAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AND THE QUANTITY AND THERE IS NOTHING WHEN YOU ARRIVE TO PURCHASE IT. OTHER THAN THAT THE STORE WAS CLEAN, NICELY ORGANIZED, AND STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND READY TO ASSIST. 💞

Plaza Artist Materials & Picture Framing: what do users think?

cq ny: With Plaza Artist Materials I found a strong competitor to Blick. A great selection of notebooks for sketching, drawing and watercolor that I used to only find on Amazon but now I can buy here in person. Stop by this store for sketching, drawing and painting supplies. They also have canvases and supplies for oil and acrylic art, knitting, and other art mediums that look interesting. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Prices seem reasonable.

Will Edwards: Has frames and some basic art supplies. Nothing super special

Jon Fisher: Fantastic store with a great selection of products and very helpful and friendly staff who helped us find everything and give us advice on which materials to purchase for an art class.

Laura P: The store was bright and clean, with helpful but not intrusive or hovering staff and a very good selection of watercolor paints, paper and brushes, and many more things that I did not peruse as carefully. I had a groupon, which was awesome, since I could easily have spent much more than I did. Definitely worth checking out!

Waldo Strange: Helpful staff, good assortment of products, clean and well organized. They have a loyalty program that is free to sign up for. Dinged a star, though, because their prices are a bit high in my opinion. Would like to see better deals at least on store brand things.

Magdalene's Custom Framing: what do users think?

Brian Wilson: This is a great place. ITT offers discounted tickets to events and parks. The wood shop has everything you need for anything from making pens to a bed. Lathes, sander, drill presses, band saws....all open for free use. There is a frame shop with classes and tools on making frames and shadow boxes. And finally, there is the engraving shop. The hours of each place varies, and I have included a picture of their hours current as of this review.

John Puskar: Framing is inherently expensive but at MCF, Mary is more than willing to work with everyone with any budget. I highly recommend!

Carl Corvin: The wood shop is amazing! You just start building and next thing you know, you are finishing projects you never thought possible. It is a gem on JBAB.

Roger Sassman: Helpful staff

Michaels: what do users think?

Sam Odle: Came here to get several items framed for my mom’s birthday, the employees were extremely helpful and the end product was perfect! My initial reaction was that it was a bit pricey but she absolutely loved it so I can’t complain.

Dark Rider: It smelt like toes and pickles that were saturated for 3 years and then put into a cheese box. I thought I head Ariana grandee but it was just my mother singing. I also saw an Elmo cosplayer with a furry and the moon was up too. Maybe it was a werewolf...…guess ill never know....My dads beard disappeared like him btw....

brian ng: I have enjoyed this company lately, because my daughter is needing to get things for school projects. Use the rewards program and any coupon you can find.

L Z: BEWARE OF FRAMING DEPT! Do not have fine art pieces mounted here. They will ruin original pieces by using glue in the process which creates long term and permanent damage. If you ever wish to reframe a piece you will find that your artwork is glued to to the matting and frame rendering the piece unusable.

N.E. Coviello (necworld): Great experience at Michaels in Bradley Plaza, Alexandria. Gary in the custom framing was super knowledgeable & helpful.

Abstract Inc: what do users think?

Carla Roberts: My children are all artist and we’ve shopped at Abstract for 20 years or more easily! The owner is so kind that whenever my children are home they visit because they can always find the art supplies they need but mostly for the opportunity to converse with the owner.

Michael Berry: I wish I could say something positive about this establishment and I would if I had not left a painting of mine there to be sold with the owner only to drop in a month or so later to find out it was sold and i was not notified nor did I receive a fair cut of whatever it was sold for! I was told he forgot to call me, forgot who he sold it to and how much he sold it for...what does that sound like to you!!!

Neil B: This is a Brookland institution that has been in the neighborhood since 1972. The owner is very nice, and the atmosphere is electric. This is not a fancy store with fluorescent lights and cookie cutter labels on each product. This place has soul. Every turn is an adventure. You may never know what treasure you may find, or what will inspire you. THIS is an Art store.

Darian Rose: They weren’t open even though the hours said they should be.

Ryan Francart: Unique art store, unfortunately did not have a large diversity of supplies but overall was a good experience.

seaweed#5: It is an amazing experience and a beautiful store more people should go it is worth every dollor. The owner is so nice.

Kyle Browne: The friendly and knowledgeable elder proprietor has owned this store for decades, and I will go out of my way to shop here.

Mark Robinson: Just an amazing locally owned business with highly knowledgeable and welcoming proprietor and staff. Highly recommend this store.

Maria Miller: Stopped in on the way home from a long road trip. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable - found exactly what I wanted and prices were great! Like all ceramic supplies - low on Amaco glazes - but great supply of Mayco glazes. Very happy to have found this place!

Maliki Rockette: Best clay ceramic supply. Very helpful and gave great advice on pottery methods. Kindly loaded my car with a lot of heavy boxes of clay and bagged glaze. I really appreciate it!

John Schultz: As far as I can tell, the best/only place to buy pottery supplies in the area. Cones, glazes, clay, equipment..... It appears they have it all. Good customer service. Slightly hard to find from the street.

Rebekah: Best place to go for all things Ceramics

Benoit Mompach: Great service and knowledgeable staff

Michael Young: Great service and a wonderful selection of everything you need for pottery and ceramics. Quick to offer advice if needed, friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Jennifer Dinkelmeyer: Just wanted to say how appreciative I am for Clayworks. Especially with Ian running the store. He is very helpful with technical questions while providing a wide variety of supplies. Thank you.

Emma-Lea Jacklin Warsaw: My mom seems to like it, they have a good assortment of clay stuff. Lots of glazes and clay accessories like tools and patterns and minerals.

JOANN Fabric and Crafts: what do users think?

Life with Kia: Following clients around the store. Manager was really rude. Denied our purchase for 20 minutes. Treated people of different races differently. Locked us in the store. I will never come back to this store., there are plenty of other Joann fabrics to shop.

Brenda MujigaeSalang: Very well organized store, so many great things to look for too!

KMB: I’ve always had a great relationship with the establishment as a whole, but this store was so disrespectful to me, friends, and comrades. I want to play devils advocate for them so bad but what they did was so disrespectful! We spent thousands of dollars here and they were trying to kick us out by closing they’re cutting booth and we’re following us all around making sure we didn’t steal. Let me mind you, there was a white couple who they treated so well. Obviously I am a person of color making a comment like this, but that’s so unprofessional and disrespectful! They even locked us in the store! Who does that?! They said that it was so no body else walks in… how are we supposed to walk out then? Make it make sense. No sense = nonsense. They were even talking about my friends and comrades in a different language so we wouldn’t know what they were saying. Very disrespectful and I’m very disappointed in this store.

My-Self S: Miss Keneisha 10+ she was amazing , I drove all the way from Virginia to the store, sense that was the only store that was showing that has Cricut mugs available. When I got there I could not find any on the floor. I passed by Miss Keneisha and ask her about it she told me everything was at the front. I when to the front and the cashier said there did not have any. I when back to the website and it still was showing that there had 16 left. Miss Keneisha saw me looking around and said that she will help me after she is done with a customer. Few sec later she came and ask me to show her what I was looking for, after that she checked again and said she will look in the back sense she could not find any on the floor either. She left and few min later ,came back with a big box of all 16 mugs. I was so happy I was jumping out of the joy from inside. What I want to say thank you Miss Keneisha for going out of your way to help me find the mugs. I appreciate it so much.

Tiffani Makala: HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and extreme racist customer service reps. Very inappropriate communication that made me feel uncomfortable . They locked the doors so we wouldn’t be able to exit. Will not be returning again. Do not recommend. Was absolutely racial profiling. We not shop there again

Aurelie Boissy: You can find lots of crafts and art goods. Staff is friendly. You may find yourself waiting a bit longer in line since I often only see one cashier open.good and affordable price; they often have coupons if you sign up on their app.

Moniya Brockington: They were VERY disrespectful to me as a black person. They were very impatient and gave very poor customer service. They also were following us around the store, as if we would steal. They were EXTREMELY unorganized and tried to rush us.

Bri “The Mezzo Maven” Cooper: I started going here holiday season 2020. I ended up buying my entire holiday decor from here! The prices are great! There is always a sale! I love that the collections are very unique. I should mention the sales associates. One time I wanted to make a hat for a high tea. The sales associate asked me a few important questions "have I done this craft before?" She had the best shortcut idea and it looked AMAZING! The other day I was in therr for fall crafts and guess what? IT WAS STILL FALL!! Great selection and again the sales rep was very helpful and friendly to all of his customers.

JOANN Fabric and Crafts: what do users think?

Nathalia Morales: I really love this store because of the variety of fabrics, crafts, home decor and more. They have cute stuff 😊

Mariam Abdelgadir: Very bad service they accused me my grandmother and mother of stealing even though we paid right in front of them. Then they proceed to yell at us when we wanted to return something stuff she refused to give me back my hundred dollar bill the lady refused and said we were stealing even though we showed them the receipt. She started to have a attitude with my mom but then I came in and stop stop talking to her like that and then she said oh it’s none of your business I said she’s my mom it is my business we asked for the manager and then the lady got scared and was like OK here’s your money and I don’t recommend the store to anybody the service is trash in the cashiers in the manager or not nice at all on you guys should try Michael’s next-door to them great customer service great everything the stuff is the same but then it’s just better service

Koi Toi: Horrible customer service. I pulled my phone out to check the time, just to be accused of recording?!?! I was left standing waiting for another cut of fabric. They claim they can only make one cut per fabric ?!? It is clear that customer service and class is not available at this location. I will happily be driving the 40 min to the sterling location. This place plain and simple is a mess along with the staff.

S E: I was disappointed that the lady at the fabric cutting counter advised that the 0.333 yds left on the roll after measuring out 9 yds would be 50% off. I didn’t realize it until I got home that it wasn’t and was only given 25% off which was the sale price for it already. I also purchased 2 rolls of overlock thread and realized when I got home that I was charged two different prices for the same item. It was a noticeable difference. I wasn’t paying attention at the register and just thought the cashier would’ve noticed the price difference for the thread.

S M: Very bad customer service the manager needs training, we entered the store 5:10 and she was screaming we close at 6 unbelievable how bad is her attitude We left and went to Michael next door and we Get everything we needed Updates review Friday 12/17/2021 Every time I come I regret no customer service long wait you don’t find anything you’re looking for it very bad l will definitely not coming back even if it’s Convenience and close where i work

Asya Renee: This store is extremely unkept. There are stains all over the floor, and unraveled fabric placed in various miscellaneous places. Not to mention, the staff are poorly trained. This location defintely needs a remodel and some additional staff because there is usually only about 2-3 workers each time I go. There is a new manager, originally from CA— she is very pleasant and deserves a store worth working at.

Susan Parsons: I found this store to be messy and disorganized. They seemed to have a decent supply of most fabric stores but it was hard to find items.

Jerry Miranda: Well-stocked store. Easy checkout. Friendly employees. Great sales and coupons. Very nice craft store.

Cecilia Feng: The staff at the fabric cutting section was rude and disrespectful especially for Asian customers. I went to this store look for card but I didn’t see any. So I went to the fabric section and asking for help. There was a white, short, long hair with a ponytail female staff with glasses was cutting the fabric for another white customer. She was really nice to that white customer and talking about her dog. When I asked her where I can find the card. She gave me a very dirty look with a very bad attitude said they don’t sell any card here and she seems very inpatient. So, she gave me this nasty gross face just because I’m an Asian while she was talking nicely to another white customer there? It’s definitely discrimination and will never go back again. I will also file a report to their company.

Adria Griffin: Had an excellent experience here! The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. My husband and I needed ready-to-wear clothes for an upcoming Indian wedding and they had a large selection and many colors. Worth the trip for excellent service and fair prices.

Amrit Chohan: Great shopping experience. A lovely shop with a variety of handicrafts, scarves, stoles, jewelry etc. that make good unique gifts. The owners were very pleasant and helpful and the prices are reasonable. I would highly recommend it!

WERNER PFLEGER: BEWARE OF FALSE ADVERTISING, they sell a scarf made of polyester in china as a kashmere shawl made in nepal, far overprized for $ 40 . When I pointed that out owner got angry at me. So be sure you know what you buy, no returns once sold.

Liliana Mendez: Owners are very friendly and helpful. I bought an amazing runner which will surely enhance my home. Thank you!

Dana Rodriguez: Came to this beautiful shop, with wonderful owners. Lovely handicraft and service. We will return.

Michaels: what do users think?

Melanie Rocha: Store manager is racist. Some lady came and said the most racist remarks to 2 women of color and the owner heard, stood back and did absolutely nothing. Police were called and owner got very defensive and did not cooperate to allow them to make a complaint.

Donavan Brown: Katy came to the rescue.L’V searched and searched for my picture. He couldn’t locate it. Katy came and found the picture. Meg- Thanks for the choices to create such an awesome frame.

Ara Koh: Good location, great helpful staff. Loved the visit. Ended up getting so much stuff haha

Jay Empty: Always helpful staff; consistently find what I need for my latest project. Located in a shopping center with quite a wide variety of stores and restaurants.

Alexa Pickney: Really nice clean place customer service is an A+

Ash Espíritu libre: I would give zero stars if I could. I went to make a return without a receipt and gladly accepted the fact that I could get a store credit and that my ID would have to put into the database. My intention was to get items with the store credit that I could use. Instead I was lied to by the manager on duty Katy that Micheals “could no longer process returns without receipts”. So I checked online for the in store policy and I called the corporate office to confirm the info I was told and neither source could confirm this information. It turns out Katy told a bold face lie. I shop with Michaels very often and I chose this location specifically because of the customer service. This experience has done more than sour my thoughts of this business and location. I have filed a formal complaint with the corporate offices.

Mark Sandel: A nice and clean michaels, but every time I have been here, it seems to be understaffed. There was one cashier for a line that weaved - I got what I needed in 5 minutes, then spent 10 in line to check out. Browner Gwendolyn: My first time here was during the holidays. I was not as enthused about my visit as others. I did not find what I was looking for. The rest room was awful. My daughter paints and she did find a few things, she needed for her next painting event, she was pleased. Items were to pricey, if you ask me. Check out was great, the cashier was courteous and knowledgeable. I will visit again soon, during the off season, to see if I feel better about shopping here for crafting items.

India Art & Craft: what do users think?

Ana: This place is great, my husband and I were invited to a wedding and we decided to go to the store because of the good reviews and it did not disappoint us. The owner and his father are very helpful and nice, everyone loved our outfits and kept asking where we got them from. We would recommend them to anyone looking for high quality and affordable Indian traditional clothing.

Johlize McNeil: Great selection of Indian clothes at different price ranges! I was shopping for a wedding and was able to get everything I needed. They sell full sets as well as individual items which allowed me to complete some outfits I had. The service is incredible and they do a great job listening to determine what you are looking for. I cannot recommend this store enough!!

HippyDippy Trippy: I was looking for something affordable, pretty & bright in silk, in size 12 (US size). This shop did not disappoint! The shopkeeper was incredibly kind and helpful. I fit a size 42-44 nicely. There were plentiful options. I feel so elegant! Like a celestial fairy 🧚🏻‍♀️ Thank you Vijay 🙏

Kai Ebnother: This shop is a hidden treasure! They have jewellery, dresses, clothing for men’s and much more to discover. The shop owner was very friendly and professional, he helped out with choosing my shirts and kimono purchases. I definitely recommend this place I’ve you visiting the Woodley neighbourhood.

Amorah Shakti: WARNING: They’re Crystal jewelry is fake!!! Also most of their garments are made from very cheap material and are marked up excessively. I drove from Richmond, VA to shop for some Indian garments and was rushed through my entire shopping experience during opening hours. The owners said they wanted to close the shop and eat some lunch… I’m compassionate, but I too was under a time crunch. I regretfully paid the shop three times the amount for the garments I purchased only because I needed them. I do not recommend the shop and caution anyone who visits.

Lucy Watson: I drove an hour each way after reading the positive reviews for this store and it did not disappoint! Vijay was amazing—so friendly, patient, and extremely helpful. I am a size 14-16 US and there were plenty of options for me to try on. I left with a gorgeous outfit, shoes, and handbag for the sangeet I am attending. I can’t wait to wear my outfit! The prices were very reasonable too! If you need traditional Indian clothing, I highly recommend this store!

Hypnosis by Quatae: Amazing customer service! The two gentlemen that helped me both times I visited here were so accommodating. They helped me pick out an outfit and everything to complement it all at an affordable price! I was excited for my outfit for a gala that was hosted in DC. Thank you so very much for your customer service!

Dave Phillips: My sister wanted to have everything about her wedding here as close to traditional as possible. We were all more than overwhelmed with how beautiful she looked in her authentic lehenga set. The embroidery was stunning. You can tell family is #1 at this family-oriented establishment.

Hobby Lobby: what do users think?

Aztecmami217: This place is amazing! It is the best crafting store I have ever seen. I was here two hours and I did not finish looking at everything they have. They also have seasonal discounts. The employees are very helpful and polite. The store is super clean and organized, and if you can think it, they have it!

Audrey Lester: Blind customer: hobby lobby is accessed by utilizing indoor escalators to arrive at their entry. Once a top, shopper is greeted by a staff person then able to navigate store. I’ve made a right towards the cashiers to request staff assistance. I have visited this establishment multiple times. Most recently to have my degrees framed. Per usual, staff were kind and professional. I have been escorted through the store by staff, assisted in getting fabrics cut, and purchasing numerous craft items. Each time has been a pleasant experience at this location.

S.M. Barnes: Very clean, organized aisles. Lots of floral selections for creative minds. I did not see what I needed, so I left, plus it was closing and I did not want to belabor the staff.

Giselle Colon: I am in love with this place! The service is amazing. Everyone who works there is always happy to help. They have a huge selection to choose from. I never have a hard time finding what I need. Everything is organized and clean in the store. There are always sales going on. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is looking for supplies for a new project or if you want to spice things up in your home.

Phillip P.: This is a great, well stocked Hobby Lobby. Great deals per usual. Big parking lot. Friendly staff. Need a few more roaming associates to help customers find hard to find items. A store map would be helpful as well. Getting out the parking lot is about impossible because of location.

Felipe Umana: This store is new in this area, so I came to check it out this store and I can tell you i never seen 👀 a store like this its so big, they have everything for decorating so clean organized and the people who work there are very nice too👌 lol😆
