Anna Banana Arts and Crafts: what do users think?

Melissa Nitti: My 2.5 year old and I both love and look forward to weekly art class at Anna Banana. Her light-filled, cozy studio is a delight and her projects are thoughtful, creative and age-appropriate. Miss Anne teaches art but also gently instills soft skills like listening, tidying up, independence etc. She’s also taken a thoughtful approach to Covid precautions - we felt safe and comfortable. Can’t say enough good things about our experience - thank you, Miss Anne!

Quinn Dang: I would give Anna Banana Arts and Crafts 10 stars if I could! Anne is a gifted instructor and creates incredible art lessons each week. I’m amazed with each class how creative the themes are — one time we learned about Alexander Calder and stabiles and the two year olds made impressive stabiles that looked like real works of art. It’s the activity that my daughter looks forward to the most each week. One of the best classes for toddlers and a real gem in the city.

Bronwyn Dalton Clark: My 6 year old was enrolled for one semester and the experience was delightful. She came home with art that was so impressive and fun that several pieces are framed and around the house now. Anne, the teacher, has such a joyful and creative approach to teaching, children are immediately comfortable, engaged and entertained by the experience. Highly recommend!!

Samira Sabulis: Well organized, fun and creative.

A Special Lee Sewing and Craft Cafe: what do users think?

Lauren: I recommend this class to everyone- whether you are looking to pick up a new hobby or are wanting to become someone who sews regularly. I took classes with Antoinette for several months in the beginning of 2021, and it was the most wonderful experience. I am learning to sew with the intent to make my own clothes. During classes with Antoinette, I learned to make 2 garments as well as a pillow and tote bag. Antoinette is an amazing, patient, welcoming, and highly experienced teacher-- I can not recommend her enough!!

Izy A: Ms Lee’s class was so fun! The environment is lovely, she is very thorough with her explanations, and made sure to give me space to try to figure out what I could on my own. I’ve never had a sewing class before, and now I’ve made my very own skirt and bag, and I think they came out really cute! I can’t wait to take another class with her. Highly recommend!

Nilufar Baratova: I love this wonderful oasis of creativity and fun. Ms. Antoinette is an amazing teacher, courageous entrepreneur and simply a beautiful soul who is passionate about her job. I had zero sewing skills and it is fascinating to see my transformation. I already made cool pillow covers, a cute polka dot skirt and I am working on my dress to impress project. I always look forward to my sewing classes where I can socialize with artistic people who love colors.

Paola Vidal: Took my first class today and most certainly looking forward to come back! The studio has a a great vibe, perfect to feel comfortable to work and learn. Antoinette was very nice, professional and patient. Left feeling very excited and confident about my future projects!

Renela Rucker: So thankful to have found A Special Lee Sewing Studio! I absolutely loved this sewing class. I learned so much about my sewing machine and basic sewing. With Ms. Lee’s guidance and expertise, I was able to leave the Complete Beginners Series with a handmade pillow, tote bag, my very own unique skirt, and a whole new confidence in my ability to create! I looked forward to class every week. She makes the environment very comfortable and inviting and makes sure you know that it’s okay to ask questions. Apart from the class itself, Ms. Lee is a great person. She is open, straight forward, and flexible. She shared more than sewing knowledge with me and I am grateful to have met her! I definitely plan to take more classes in the future!

Elena Butler: Great space and wonderful teacher. Ms Antoinette is attentive, kind and tailors the classes to the students’ needs. See picture of what I made during class.

B W: I absolutely love this school! I am moving soon and will greatly miss the instructors and even the new friends I’ve made. The instructors are very patient and are passionate about teaching. I have learned so much from attending workshops and several 9 week courses!! I wished I could pick the school up and move it to my new dwelling place, but since I can’t, I will leave an awesome review :) To all the instructors, Thank You! Thank you for giving of your time and knowledge to us the students! We are better artists of all kind because of you! I can only speak for myself, but I grew by leaps and bounds in my craft from being connected to this school! I am ever so thankful for the brilliant mind who was blessed by God to start this school years ago. The education I have received was just as good or better than paying high priced tuition at a university. I pray nothing but continued blessings upon this institution!

Nabil Elhalawany: I am a medical Dr. interested in Art.

Latrina Proctor-Jones: Luv Art all forms...😀

Rickey Anderson: They have so many wonderful items to complete any DIY craft you have in mind

David Zeledon: The framing department is simply fantastic. I got three diplomas framed here and Sonya that helped me out was the best. She works meticulously and her attention to detail and customer satisfaction is second to none!! Thanks again, again.

HAPPY CRAFTY CAT: I was trying to find this paper pad at various locations in my area. However, online it says the stores in my area have them i go there and nothing. It has been two weeks and yet nothing. I was told to give it some days and i did. OFCOURSE nothing. I do appreciate the staff who went out of their way to look for it at the Wisconsin ave location. It seems there is a system mix up online as i found other crafty people have been looking for it too. The IT TEAM SHOULD FIX THIS. VERY MISS LEADING ONLINE WHEN IT SAYS WHAT LOCAL STORES HAVE WHAT IT IS THAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AND THE QUANTITY AND THERE IS NOTHING WHEN YOU ARRIVE TO PURCHASE IT. OTHER THAN THAT THE STORE WAS CLEAN, NICELY ORGANIZED, AND STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND READY TO ASSIST. 💞

Sue I: I’ve been going to art stores for 40 years and in all that time, I’ve never met a more knowledgable art supply salesperson than Sean at Blick Art Materials, DC. He gave thoughtful and useful suggestions for my art project. He also taught me how to use materials I never have used before. Sean’s professionalism and experience is outstanding. His tremendous kindness is un-matched and Blick is very lucky to have Sean representing them.

vivian siebert: Shop with many varieties of professional products, good prices, friendly attendants but need more information about the products to help.Check products and price tags I ended up buying a product with twice the price exposed ...

Camille Murray: Love to come here the associates are very nice and knowledgeable. They really do have everything you need for beginners to advanced artist of all forms. My copic and prismacolor markers are cheaper here for me or anyone if your a member or not.

Ana Delmont: Very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff! Great selection of paints, canvases, brushes, and everything I needed. Just walking around the store gave me so many more ideas from their wide selection of products, and it all came out way cheaper than I expected. It’s now my go-to arts and crafts store!

Beat Ammann: Very friendly staff and a very wide variety of things, including for art projects with kids!

JewelryClassDC: what do users think?

Amy Ruddle: JewelryClass DC has been one of the best experiences of my life! I am a jewelry maker with a small business and was looking for a way to improve my skill set to expand my offerings. Dan gave me a tour of the amazing studio, and I took his introductory class to get started. I quickly realized I wanted to do the extended study program, and that has been extremely satisfying. In the six months I’ve been working at the studio, I’ve seen my skill set grow exponentially, and I’ve now found a community of jewelers and goldsmiths who are a constant source of support and creativity. Dan continues to be available any time I have a question about a project, and he is constantly doing demonstrations of new techniques and styles. Truly an invaluable experience for any level of jeweler.

Vincent: I have been taking classes here since May 2021. The studio is very well equipped, and I always feel as though I am learning the correct way to perform any given task. The classes are challenging and sometimes I get frustrated, but I always walk away knowing that I have learned something new and created a quality piece of jewelry. Even in the frustrating times, Dan is more than willing to spend one-on-one time with students to ensure they are completing the assignments correctly. Aside from group classes, I also worked with Dan to design and fabricate an engagement ring for my fiancé. This experience was great! We were both on the same page with what we wanted to achieve. Dan was very patient throughout and made sure that we made the perfect ring for my fiancé (who also takes classes from Dan). This time was invaluable to me and the development of my skillset. -Great teacher -Great equipment -Great people

Kim Hay: Best in DC for jewelry making classes. Thirty benches, wide array of tools, methods, metals and settings. Dan is way helpful to all students in his classes!

Stephanie Wong: I personally recommend Jewelryclassdc if you are interested in fabricating jewelry in precious metals, regardless if you are a beginner wanting to learn the creative skill or a practitioner wanting to hone your skill – you will agree with me that there is always something new to learn in jewelry fabrication! Dan Valencia and his assistants are highly experienced and encouraging, key to grow and sustain interest in a skill that requires long hours of practice. I was a beginner in metalsmithing when I started Metal l classes 2 years ago. After only a few classes, I was hooked on creating and making beautiful Sterling Silver pieces with gemstones – yes, all the pieces you create and make in class are in Sterling Silver! I took a few Metal ll classes and intensive workshops in soldering, flush setting and etching, before I enrolled for the Extended Study program that allows more days, flexible hours and private instructions at the studio. I was assigned a fully-equipped individual work bench and have access to a wide array of tools available at the studio. Jewelryclassdc is very well equipped with tools, acquired for professional and personal reasons, ranging from the latest laser welding machine to century-old antique anvils, hammers and punches. It is such a joy using the mix of high-tech and traditional tools to create the beautiful jewelry pieces. During my extended study program, I worked with Dan to design and create my own jewelry collection. I must say I have improved immensely from where I started, from having only vague ideas of what I wanted to create to realizing them into gorgeous pieces. Dan also organizes field trips to New York City once a semester for all extended study students to meet with the jewelry industry players such as gems/diamonds manufacturers and dealers – a valuable engagement especially for those wanting to build a viable jewelry making business.

David Lee: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueDan the Man! I went into this class thinking why? Now I know why. From day 1 Dan helped me every step of the way. The value you get from the classes is unmatched from any jewelry school I’ve researched on the east coast. I’m now taking metals II and love every second of it.

Diane Millar: I just finished the Metals I intensive class and it was GREAT! I knew nothing about metal work at all, and I finished 3 rings, 2 pairs of earrings, and a bracelet. The materials we used were all of the highest quality - so all of the end products look very professional. The whole studio is really well-equipped and the class size small - so you can get lots of help, while learning the right way to do things. Dan and Emily were both great teachers - taking us step by step and answering any/all questions as we went. I really enjoyed the creative challenge of each process. Highly recommended if you want to learn how to make high quality, professional jewelry. Many thanks!

CulinAerie: what do users think?

Ryan McGorty: Culinaerie is one of, if not, the most well-known recreational cooking school in the area. They offer a lot of different cooking instruction to aspiring cooking enthusiasts of all different skill levels. They have an online calendar that shows which classes are available and when. The classes book fast, so be ready to book if you see one you like. You can take individual classes on a class-by-class interest basis, or participate in a series of classes designed to improve your skills through a structured course. If you want to take a knife skills class, learn how to make Thai food, or even make tapas, they have a wide offering of options. The actual location consists of two instruction kitchens, with one being significantly larger than the other. The instructor leads the class through the cooking demonstration and there are overhead TVs and assistants in the room to help in case you need it. The instructor usually walks around while you are cooking/preparing food to give you tips. I went here for a date night cooking class and we had a very good experience. We learned a new recipe which we’ve cooked on our own at home. It is pretty expensive, but it made for a great experience.

Michael Alexander: We came here for my fiancé’s employer’s Christmas party. It was a fantastic! I love to cook and pursue it as a serious hobby. The instructor was great. She was patient with those who did not know techniques and gave pointers to those of us with working culinary knowledge. I will be planning a family function here in future.

M. Marzulla: We did the "Date Night: Craft Cocktails & Small Plates from Mexico City" with Eliza Gonzalez and it was fantastic! The instructions were easy to follow and the dishes were delicious! It was fun learning how to make the cocktails as well, and both instructors were super friendly and helpful! I definitely recommend signing up for one of the date night courses, it turned out to be one of the best dates we have had in a while!

Brittany Gerig Campbell: We had a fantastic experience at the couples cooking and wine pairing class. High quality food, helpful assistants, and an instructor who was a former chef and really knew her stuff. Wine was free-flowing and we never felt rushed. Would definitely come back!

Amanda Burkholder: We took a bread making class at CulinAerie and had a blast! The teacher was knowledgeable and clear. We made four different kinds of bread and got to take it home. The class took about three hours, which included instruction, mixing, kneading, and baking the bread. They served complimentary wine, coffee and tea during the class which was a great touch. We will definitely take a class from CulinAerie again!

Vanessa: Took a french macaron class over the weekend. It was actually a really fun experience! The macarons came out so much better than I anticipated! I thought for sure we would bomb the recipe. What makes this experience fun is sitting at the same table with fun friendly people :) The chef was good, though a bit curt. The staff that was helping was really nice. I would definitely come back to do this again. Great date night idea, or something fun to do with friends.

Linda Bishop: Very friendly artists. Lots of interesting artwork & history: facility where suffragettes were emprisoned. Photos taken at Occoquan Park, nearby suffragette memorial.

Petrina Lincoln: Great experience seeing the musical xanadu. My 12 year old and 2 year old both enjoyed it also

#photohoag: Work House arts center, what an amazing change from old prison to supporting the arts and giving back to the community. There really does seem to be something for everyone. You really should check out the website and find something to try.

Scott Ewing: Arches Gallery in building 9 has some beautiful pottery

Cyborg82SS: Take kids here for art class. Cool they still have the bldg the original way and setting. You can walk around and just explore.

Judith Ann Arnold: Huge spaces for a variety of gallery favorites! Wonderful positive vibe. Friendly service & enjoyed the gift shop as well

Shelly Durkee: Fascinating place and history! Worth a stop!

Cindy Romero: The coolest experience on a rainy Saturday. My toddler, mom and me had so much fun perusing the various artist galleries and it was great to see so many talented women artists especially. A good mix of diverse art mediums. The icing on the cake though was the amazingly hospitable and warm staff in the cafe in the visitors center. They had a delicious selection of food and simply perfect hot chocolate that hit the spot on a rainy day. They were so accommodating to my rambunctious toddler, even playing with her and making her special drinks. She had such a blast. The cafe is a must and will have you leaving with warm vibes.

Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum: what do users think?

Kersten Chisti Dryden: We went to see the Burning Man exhibit. Beautiful gallery, with lots of different rooms. We easily spent 3 hours in here, there was so much to take in, on all sensory levels. Lots of interactive art, including a VR experience, and a carved wooden chapel with little pieces of wood that you can write to loved ones who have passed, and add to the exhibit. Very well produced, all together.

Pakeezha: This is one of my favorite museums. It’s easy to get there and pretty small and they change their exhibitions in every few months which makes you want to go and visit more often. It’s always fascinating seeing the new designs. it can get crowded at peak times but they control the amount of people that can enter which is very nice.

Miss Guided: I visited the burning man experience. My niece and I wanted to be the simulator experience. The nasty worker said was very rude and nasty. Other than that the exhibit was amazing. I cannot take people’s action in account for how wonderful the museum is. Definitely a must see!!! It wasn’t too crowded on the Monday we went which was Labor Day. It was difficult to get some good picture of the mushrooms because of the crowds but still enjoyable. The exhibit is very tranquil and nice.

Ashton Menefee: Really cool museum to hit when in DC, awesome rotating exhibits. We saw the Burning Man, Dustin Farnsworth, and Crime Scene Diorama exhibits on a few visits. It’s an easy walk from anywhere in DC, close to the White House, and worth a stop if you want to see something different.

K A: I visited the Renwick Gallery with my family last fall and i was impressed with all the beautiful and extraordinary exhibits. The David’s best temple caught my gaze with its glow and I also love the disrupting Craft. A great museum rich in history and packed with lots of exceptional crafts. It’s a must see if you are visiting DC. I highly recommend to all tourists, locals, craft and art lovers.

H J: The burning man exhibition was on when we attended and it was a really good one. The space within the museum was used really well and the exhibits combined interactive, traditional and contemporary style pieces that appealed to the whole family. Definitely worth a visit once you are done with the White House! Recommended

cq ny: With Plaza Artist Materials I found a strong competitor to Blick. A great selection of notebooks for sketching, drawing and watercolor that I used to only find on Amazon but now I can buy here in person. Stop by this store for sketching, drawing and painting supplies. They also have canvases and supplies for oil and acrylic art, knitting, and other art mediums that look interesting. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Prices seem reasonable.

Jon Fisher: Fantastic store with a great selection of products and very helpful and friendly staff who helped us find everything and give us advice on which materials to purchase for an art class.

Laura P: The store was bright and clean, with helpful but not intrusive or hovering staff and a very good selection of watercolor paints, paper and brushes, and many more things that I did not peruse as carefully. I had a groupon, which was awesome, since I could easily have spent much more than I did. Definitely worth checking out!

Waldo Strange: Helpful staff, good assortment of products, clean and well organized. They have a loyalty program that is free to sign up for. Dinged a star, though, because their prices are a bit high in my opinion. Would like to see better deals at least on store brand things.

Ana: This place is great, my husband and I were invited to a wedding and we decided to go to the store because of the good reviews and it did not disappoint us. The owner and his father are very helpful and nice, everyone loved our outfits and kept asking where we got them from. We would recommend them to anyone looking for high quality and affordable Indian traditional clothing.

Johlize McNeil: Great selection of Indian clothes at different price ranges! I was shopping for a wedding and was able to get everything I needed. They sell full sets as well as individual items which allowed me to complete some outfits I had. The service is incredible and they do a great job listening to determine what you are looking for. I cannot recommend this store enough!!

HippyDippy Trippy: I was looking for something affordable, pretty & bright in silk, in size 12 (US size). This shop did not disappoint! The shopkeeper was incredibly kind and helpful. I fit a size 42-44 nicely. There were plentiful options. I feel so elegant! Like a celestial fairy 🧚🏻‍♀️ Thank you Vijay 🙏

Kai Ebnother: This shop is a hidden treasure! They have jewellery, dresses, clothing for men’s and much more to discover. The shop owner was very friendly and professional, he helped out with choosing my shirts and kimono purchases. I definitely recommend this place I’ve you visiting the Woodley neighbourhood.

Lucy Watson: I drove an hour each way after reading the positive reviews for this store and it did not disappoint! Vijay was amazing—so friendly, patient, and extremely helpful. I am a size 14-16 US and there were plenty of options for me to try on. I left with a gorgeous outfit, shoes, and handbag for the sangeet I am attending. I can’t wait to wear my outfit! The prices were very reasonable too! If you need traditional Indian clothing, I highly recommend this store!

Hypnosis by Quatae: Amazing customer service! The two gentlemen that helped me both times I visited here were so accommodating. They helped me pick out an outfit and everything to complement it all at an affordable price! I was excited for my outfit for a gala that was hosted in DC. Thank you so very much for your customer service!

Dave Phillips: My sister wanted to have everything about her wedding here as close to traditional as possible. We were all more than overwhelmed with how beautiful she looked in her authentic lehenga set. The embroidery was stunning. You can tell family is #1 at this family-oriented establishment.

Valerie Damond: Last night twelve members of my family experienced a truly remarkable Spanish dinner. Chef Greg presented us with a very relaxing and utterly delicious meal. Every course was beautifully displayed and clearly constructed with the best ingredients. He and his helper served us and left the kitchen immaculate. If you would like to experience an expertly crafted Spanish cuisine, I highly recommend Chef Greg.

D H: I had my Cozymeal event today. I have never participated in an online cooking class before, and I must say it was great! My daughter and I took the class making the Chinese dumplings with Chef Li. Chef Li was great and while making the recipes really gave good information on the Chinese culture and the different types of substitutions to use in the event you are not able to get a specific ingredient. She made suggestions regarding kitchen utensils and made sure that all of us were on track with her during her instruction. My only difficulty was with the recipes being in grams and not in US measurements. It would be nice to have both listed. I live in a very rural area and this option of online cooking classes is such a welcome experience. I would definitely take another class!!

Benjamin Bowden: Really enjoyed having Chef Tiffany cook for my girlfriend and me. Great food, great conversation, and a generally excellent evening. One note: she arrived 45 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time, when nobody was home. Her early arrival was a positive, as the meal took a few hours to prepare, but Cozymeal should communicate better with the clients about true arrival time. Bottom line: Tiffany provided an excellent French meal, all cooked from scratch, with fresh ingredients. Moreover, there were leftovers! Really looking forward to my next Cozymeal experience.

Alison Ponzi: We had an evening full of freshly made pasta, bruschetta, and bread pudding with Chef Tiffany. I bought a KitchenAid mixer last year with the pasta attachment, and she was open to teaching me how to use it. She also worked with us on our likes/dislikes allowing us to choose a different appetizer. All in all it was a successful night with great food, company, and conversation.

Steven Sacks: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueMy girlfriend and I took the Festival of Indian Flavor with Chef Manjiri. It was such a wonderful experience - she clearly explained the agenda for the class, told us about herself, explained all the ingredients, and then helped us through all four recipes with both laughter and fun. What a great time!

Theano Kampani: Really enjoyed having Chef Greg cook for my husband and me. Great food, and great conversation! We highly recommend Chef Greg and his Spanish dishes. The star of the menu was the dessert for us :)

Kathleen Norwood: This was a wonderful experience. Chef Gustavo was a delightful host and instructor He shared knife and preparation tips as well as the history of the food. The food was muy rico and we came away with many tips to make prep easier and food tastier for making a yummy paella as well as other dishes. Chef Gustavo created a welcoming, warm and relaxed evening. Thank you, Chef Gutavo!

Niki Holmes: We had an amazing experience with Chef Judith. Her recipes were easy; we had great company; and the Chef taught us some very useful techniques. --Plus--The food tasted so delicious!

JOANN Fabric and Crafts: what do users think?

Brenda MujigaeSalang: Very well organized store, so many great things to look for too!

My-Self S: Miss Keneisha 10+ she was amazing , I drove all the way from Virginia to the store, sense that was the only store that was showing that has Cricut mugs available. When I got there I could not find any on the floor. I passed by Miss Keneisha and ask her about it she told me everything was at the front. I when to the front and the cashier said there did not have any. I when back to the website and it still was showing that there had 16 left. Miss Keneisha saw me looking around and said that she will help me after she is done with a customer. Few sec later she came and ask me to show her what I was looking for, after that she checked again and said she will look in the back sense she could not find any on the floor either. She left and few min later ,came back with a big box of all 16 mugs. I was so happy I was jumping out of the joy from inside. What I want to say thank you Miss Keneisha for going out of your way to help me find the mugs. I appreciate it so much.

Aurelie Boissy: You can find lots of crafts and art goods. Staff is friendly. You may find yourself waiting a bit longer in line since I often only see one cashier open.good and affordable price; they often have coupons if you sign up on their app.

Bri “The Mezzo Maven” Cooper: I started going here holiday season 2020. I ended up buying my entire holiday decor from here! The prices are great! There is always a sale! I love that the collections are very unique. I should mention the sales associates. One time I wanted to make a hat for a high tea. The sales associate asked me a few important questions "have I done this craft before?" She had the best shortcut idea and it looked AMAZING! The other day I was in therr for fall crafts and guess what? IT WAS STILL FALL!! Great selection and again the sales rep was very helpful and friendly to all of his customers.
