Forever Dancing Ballroom: what do users think?

Christine Heppner: I just recently had my renewal of vows and my dad and I wanted to do something special. A neighbor had worked with Forever Dancing for her mother/daughter dance and highly recommended the team. We did five evening lessons which worked so well with our schedules, and we learned different choreography to match the multiple songs I mixed together. I played the track for Fabio during our first rehearsal and he ran with it! We had a great time and everybody could not stop talking about the father/daughter dance! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!!!
Response: We are So Happy to Hear that Everything Went well and it was a joy working with you both. Thank you fir the review.

Kimberlyn Eaton: We began taking group lessons to do something fun together and didn't have any expectations. I have a ballet background and my fiancé had never danced, but our instructor Fabio is amazingly talented at presenting material for all levels of dancers in a single classroom. Since we had so much fun, we decided to do private lessons and choreography for our wedding. Fabio crafted a dance that was comfortably challenging for us, even incorporating steps we learned in group class. We haven't had our wedding yet, but we're sure that even if we misstep or stumble it will all have been worth it because we had so much fun during lessons working with each other and Fabio. Additionally, the studio is a beautiful space with great COVID precautions, a friendly staff, and personal reminders for class. Jennifer and Fabio have a built a business the whole community should give a try!
Response: Thank you Kim! It was a pleasure working with you both. We cannot wait to see your pictures and videos.

Johnny Shryock: My wife Brittany and I have had a fantastic and transformative experience dancing at Forever Dancing Ballroom! We found them at one of their open house events and immediately booked a package of lessons with Fabio for our wedding. Our dance lessons were always a fun break from wedding planning, and we left every dance lesson feeling better than we did when we walked in. It was exciting to learn new moves and choreography at every lesson. At first, we thought the techniques were difficult, but with practice and good coaching, we were able to learn the steps and perform a romantic and fun first dance at our wedding. It was thrilling to do our dance in front of such a supportive and enthusiastic crowd - we absolutely loved the magic moment of our first dance! My wife and I had a casual interest in dancing before we worked on the first dance with Fabio, but since then, we've become hooked and now we take group classes and have continued with private lessons as well. Jennifer Bonini manages the studio classes, billing, private lessons, events, and more. She is friendly, funny, and supportive, and very excellent at keeping everything organized. A talented dancer herself, Jennifer has also shared some excellent dance coaching with us from time to time. Other coaches at the studio are similarly personable and welcoming to all. The entire vibe at Forever Dancing is simply perfect for those looking for an approachable dance studio that will keep you smiling, moving, and have a blast dancing. I highly encourage you to visit Forever Dancing Ballroom as a studio: for wedding first dance lessons, group classes, cool workshops, and a fulfilling way to spend your time!
Response: Thank you Johnny! You and Brittany are simply a pleasure to teach and have the ability to take any challenge to the next level. I am looking forward to see your future in dancing. I am excited about your new dance number at our dance showcase. I know you will do another FUNtastic performance.

Gabriel Glasser: Fabio took us from zero classical dancing experience to nailing our first dance. He gave us clear and honest direction, and constant motivation. I recommend Fabio to any couple!
Response: Thank you Gabriel! It was a pleasure working with you.

Niki Ceo: My son Peter and I had two wonderful dancing lessons with Fabio. Peter's wedding is coming up and I wanted to have some instruction for our dance together. He (Peter) didn't think we needed more than one, but boy he changed his mind after the first one. It was such fun! It was a wonderful experience for the two of us. And Fabio was a Fabulous instructor!. Very patient and encouraging and full of so many great ideas to make our mother/son dance special. Thank you again Fabio. I enjoyed our lessons so much.!!!
Response: Thank you Niki! It was a pleasure working with you. Enjoy your son wedding!

Julie: I am a professional dancer--contemporary dance, improvisation, history, and dance-making. I have taught dance in universities and community schools for many years. I studied ballroom dancing many years ago and had a longing to return to ballroom dancing and learn more. I also wanted to support a local business in the dance community and I have found Forever Dancing Ballroom to be a treasure. Fabio is an amazing and gifted teacher. He is excellent in communicating both the technique and the spirit of each of the dances with passion and depth. Jennifer is attentive and thorough. She has provided great support answering questions and helping me prepare for competition. Fabio and Jennifer are a superior team of educators and are just plain nice people. Dancing is always fun when you get to do it with kind, fun, and awesome people!
Response: Thank you for your review, it is always great to have fun, dedicated students with love for the dance,

Francine Tango: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueAwesome place to learn during this pandemic. They have great instruction and if you do not have a partner , you can learn 6 feet apart from your partner. Everybody wears masks, temperature is taken, shoes changed and lot's of FUN. I feel safe and aquiring a new skill during this pandemic. Thank you Forever Dancing!
Response: We are glad to hear that you felt safe and have fun while learning how to dance.Thank you!

Joseph Smith: Anu was a wonderful instructor!! We took private lessons at Forever Dancing to learn to dance for our wedding. We are new to the world of ballroom dance and Anu took the time to make the experience fun and easy to learn. She taught us how to ballroom dance and put together a choreographed dance routine to wow our friends and family. Would definitely recommend Forever Dancing for any dancing needs!
Response: Thank you for your review, we are so happy that you both had a great experience learning something new and exciting as ballroom dancing with one of our talented instructors at Forever Dancing. Congratulations! And looking forward to seeing some pics of your special day.

Andrew White: I was totally new to salsa dancing and signed up for an 8 week beginner course with Fabio and Jennifer. They did a great job of making the class efficient, educational, and fun. They also gave me at least one piece of individual feedback every single session. I practiced at home 1x/week and I also took a 2nd 8 week class with them before moving out of the area. I would highly recommend dance classes with this business.
Response: Thank You Andrew! You are doing great with your Salsa

Cah Abdalla: We booked 10 classes for our first dance and it was amazing! Our wedding became extremely special with our Brazilian dance. Fabio was awesome and very professional! We strongly recommend it!
Response: Thanks Camila! Congratulations on your great performance. It was great working with you.

Caminito Amigo Argentine Tango Studio: what do users think?

Bharati Mitra: Attended a Milonga performance by the Masters of Tango and Milonga and loved every moment! I recommend Caminito Amigo to all aspiring Tango and Milonga dancers.
Response: Thank you for your review Mitra! We're glad you enjoyed the performance!

Tango-dancers: Julia Elena, the artistic director of the studio, is a terrific tango dancer that learned the traditional milonguero style from masters like Carlos Gavito. She is the most friendly person you can meet, you will find at ease in the beginner classes she teaches, she will help you through the initial difficult times everyone had when started to dance tango. The studio is in the back of her home, s very intimate, cozy place where you can have your first experience with the “milonga”, the social dancing. Experienced dancers come to her milonga for the special friendly and intimate atmodphere that is unique in the Washington DC area.

Francesca D: While Julia is the kindest person you'll ever meet, her and her son never seem on the same page during the lesson. Lessons consistently begin late. And the lessons are poor in quality. Any instructor worth paying knows that constantly harping on technique to beginner dancers is useless. I learned very little and would not go back. The floor is also not level.

Carlos Cruz: Positive: Quality

The Salsa With Silvia Dance Studio: what do users think?

Kat Cap: Was visiting DC for the weekend & felt like I wanted to do something else instead of museums and found Silvia's event on Eventbrite for their first ever Saturday morning Yoga & Salsa Social Dancing event! One can either choose to do just the yoga, or social OR best of both worlds! I had a flowy strengthening fun yoga class with Anya & enjoyed DJ Aldo's amazing music & dancing! I've started learning a bit of salsa on 2 and despite them being a salsa on 1 studio, they welcomed me so kindly! We all enjoyed dancing with each other, had met such fantabulous people with great vibes! I recommend this studio so0o much! I can only imagine how awesome their regular classes are!
Response: Omg, Kat, thank you SO much for the super kind words! This was the first time we tried this format and we’ll only be getting better! So glad you stopped by and we hope to see you again soon. We also offer classes on 2. Cheers, Silvia

Summer Brouwer: There’s a reason why they have 5 stars! I never had the luxury of attending dance classes. I just moved here cross country and wanted to try a new experience. I was very hesitant, and very nervous, but I bought the new student pass for $100. The pass allows you to attend unlimited group classes for the month. It’s about a week into the session and I am in love with dance! They have many different instructors and many different styles of dance. I felt at ease learning with other students of my skill level and the energy of my instructors helped me feel so comfortable as well. If you’re on the fence about whether you want to try it or not, GET OVER IT! I love it here and you will too!
Response: Wow, Summer! I have tears in my eyes after reading your review! It makes it all worth the hard work! Thank you so much! We are here to show people that dance heals and helps physically and emotionally. We are so happy you love dance now! Silvia

Reema Bhardwaj: Salsa with Silvia is THE PLACE TO BE. Whether you’re looking to improve your dancing, rent their beautiful studio for your private event, or bring your kids for an experience. You will leave feeling satisfied and happy that you took the step to come in. There is a reason this studio is the #1 Latin Dance studio in the DMV. You can feel the love that was put into the studio from starting out in just a basement to two studios! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The teachers are patient, understanding, and energetic. The adult dance classes are always so much fun and filled with great material you can take with you. They even allow videos to be taken so you can look back to review. And the owner Silvia, she is a boss lady. Very friendly, helpful, and fun. If you’re looking to have a great time with your friends, learn, teach your children dance, or have a private event, come here & don’t waste your time calling other studios!
Response: Much 💗 for you! Thank you so much for your support!

Darniesha Beach: Took my 2 year old to the babies dance class and the teacher was great. Very good with little ones and my daughter took to her immediately. The class was empty just 2 little ones including mine... but she still managed to fill the time and make it fun. Everything was very clean and location is nice if you want to make a day of it. My only complaint is the time; my daughter has to skip a nap to attend. She was super cranky so I don’t think we’ll be back until a different time slot is available or she no longer needs her afternoon nap. A class between 9&12 or at 5 would be cool.
Response: Thank you 💗 what time would work for you?

Melody Bowles: Everyone should go! We did the romantic kizumba class and it was amazing
Response: Much appreciated! We are so happy you liked the class! We can't wait to see you again soon!

Mia H: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueTook a private salsa lesson for 2 and it was AMAZING! Joffre was so kind and knowledgeable that he made learning to dance easy! Perfect for if you're looking to try something new or for a date night!
Response: Thank you so much, Mia! We are so glad you loved the lesson.

Nikki Mammano: Finally after some time, I feel ready to write this review. I took Silvia's salsa teacher training course back in 2019 with an excitement to take my dancing to the next level. I have been dancing salsa since 2014 and I wasn't sure if I wanted to actually take the next leap and teach yet, but I was curious to start building a teacher foundation. After the experience however, I realized it was a mistake. And now, I cannot recommend this studio. The course itself I think was the first time Silvia and David were hosting it, it was extremely disorganized and not thought out. Some of the material was okay, but they threw so much at us in a short amount of time (7 weeks) and expected us to be experts by the end without any support. Silvia is also one of the coldest and most unsupportive people I have ever met. For the last class, she told us we were having a "test." I remember the week before I asked her who we would be teaching and how I should prepare, she did not give me very much information. When I walked in the week, I expected we would be teaching the other trainees like we were the 6 weeks prior. Nope. She threw actual student volunteers at us without informing us or letting us prepare. For me, it was very nerve-racking. She placed me to go last and by the time it was my turn, there were more students in my class than the trainees before me, which made the experience even worse. During our feedback session at the end, with both her and David, Silvia looked me cold in the face and told me I was too insecure to be a teacher. Mind you, I paid a lot of $$$ to take this "teacher training," just to be torn down as a dancer. I suggest Silvia does NOT host a teacher training again. Also, there is a lot of great dancing in DC. While you can learn some great foundations here and some of the teachers are wonderful, I do suggest looking elsewhere to become an advanced dancer.
Response: Thank you for the honest, review Nikki. I apologize if we've hurt you in any way. Teaching indeed is nerve wracking any way you look at it so it takes a certain personality to be able to be a good teacher. Teachers are always presented with difficult situations and they have to know how to handle them whether they are ready or not. Part of the training was a personality test to see if people can handle situations like that. The goal of the training was to provide the knowledge as to where the information was, the rest was on the trainees to study and prepare. As with all other trainings. You are completely entitled to your opinion of course and again, I apologize. Most of the trainees ended up teaching classes at the studio and that's the only negative review we've received. My advise would be if you really want to be a teacher, you should keep trying and working at it because it takes really hard work and it's mostly on you, not so much on the training, anywhere you get it. I, for example have never had a formal training but I've worked incredibly hard on studying, preparing and practicing so I can be ready to teach. Cold is something I haven't been called just yet but if that's what you think of me, I cannot argue. Hundreds of our students may disagree with you and I am always open to meet and talk to any of them, which is how I built the largest Latin dance studio in the DMV. Again, best of luck Nikki and I am sorry it didn't work out. Regards, Silvia

Caoilfhionn Roche: I am a former student of Mario, Joffre, and Cat's classes, and Joffre's current dance partner and assistant of 2 years now. The Salsa with Silvia studio has been my home for 2 years, as it has been home to many others. Particularly considering the global pandemic that we have collectively gone through, I think that one of the greatest lessons the last year has taught us is that we are social beings, and we need community, which is what the studio has brought to everyone that has walked through the doors. I have spent majority of my weeks over the last 2 years at this studio - truly nonstop - and I have never felt anything other than respect, care, and professionalism from Silvia as a studio owner and Joffre as an instructor and partner. His classes and teams are a joyful, fun, safe space, where I, among others have learned and laughed together. I have continuously heard from people how Joffre's classes and practices are the highlights of their days (and mine as well). Through a global pandemic and beyond it, Joffre has been a constant for his classes and teams, always respectful and responsible, cultivating a safe space for people to come, from wherever someone's day is bringing them, and be their authentic selves. This has created nothing but a community filled with honest, kind, caring people, that I have encountered. This has been my continuous experience with SWS over the last 2 years. The bottom line is: Silvia, Joffre, and the entire SWS community is a wonderful place to be, and I truly encourage you to come and see and feel it for yourself. - Keelin
Response: Thank you, Keelin!

Margaret Houck: I have been taking classes at Salsa with Silvia for about 6 months now and I'm nothing but grateful for everything this studio has brought me! When I started I was recently out of college, new to DC, had zero dance background, and was nervous to be putting myself out there. But there was no need to be nervous because everyone at the studio provided such a welcoming, comforting, safe environment for me to learn and explore my new love for dancing. I've taken classes with multiple different instructors at SWS and have truly enjoyed them all! I tend to go to Joffre's classes multiple times per week and absolutely love them. He and his assistant, Keelin, provide such a fun, safe environment for everyone to learn and challenge themselves. I always feel welcomed in their space and am so thankful for all of the great experiences that they and everyone at SWS have given me. Can't wait to keep learning new moves, making new friends, and connecting with the salsa community through SWS :)
Response: Thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot!

Zey: Salsa with Silvia is more than a dance studio. Lots of magic happens there. You’ve got all the basics- amazing instructors, good variety of classes in style and level, a professional business, and a safe and reliable environment. In addition, you learn how dancing is about much more than just moving your body. By joining the studio you enter a community, so you meet amazing people and make new friends. The owner Silvia is always engaged and she is always willing to help. I have been going to the studio for about 2 years now, and the instructor I have taken the most number of classes with is Joffre. I always had a thing for salsa, but he is the one who really made me love it. Joffre is technically very competent, and he is also a great teacher (which is not always a given). He is also a warm and genuine person, who is very open to feedback. And as a bonus, he has the best taste in music, I learned the best songs/ artists I know from him. In short, if you are interested in entering the world of latin dancing, SWS is the place for you!
Response: Wow! ❤️ Thank you! We love our students so much! So happy that you are part of our community! People like you are the reason for us to fight and survive last year! Thank you!

John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts: what do users think?

Amanda Turcotte: I love being a member of the Kennedy Center. I joined during the pandemic because I wanted to support the arts and because a friend told me how much they enjoyed being a member. Fast forward a couple years later and I am finally able to enjoy both indoor and outdoor events at the center. The mission of the Kennedy Center really speaks to me and the community events as well as amazing performances throughout the year definitely make the membership worth while. My husband and I attended our first opera this year. We have also attended a few National Symphony Orchestra performances and a members only rehearsal. It was really special to watch the orchestra rehearse and see how the players and conductor come together to perform beautiful compositions. The Hall of States and Hall of Countries are really something to behold as well. There is so much history to learn about. The Reach is another building on the campus that is also full of great historical moments and an active work area for artists. The grounds have an amazing view of the Potomac River as well. There is parking on site for $25 and members receive a $5 discount on parking if you book in advance. We have not tried the on site restaurant yet, but plan to soon. Definitely check out an event and grounds of the Kennedy Center, if you are in the area. You will want to come back for sure. Thanks! :-)

Joana Ward: Lunar New Year Lanterns. Beautiful Display and family friendly. During COVID everyone was wearing masks even outside. Recommending you go early to park and although the line was long it moved quickly for how long it was (40 minutes). There was a free station for activities the kids could do. Bring two adults for kids so someone can stay in line while the other one has the kids exploring.

Jessica Isbell: We had an absolutely amazing time! The entire experience was just wonderful. My 6 year old thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Venue was incredible, staff exceptional. Weather was a perk too, perfect day. The outside area for intermission with views of DC is fabulous. We will absolutely be back. Thank you for adhering to masking and vaccination policies as well while bringing the arts back into these hectic times.

preservefootprints: We visit there on last 2 days of the Reach Winter Lanterns Festival. It was a huge area filled with lanterns displays celebrating 2022 Lunar New Year, it was so beautiful and bright. They have benches with heater around the open space. The organizer has worked excellent to manage the guests flow!

David Morar: A true home for the performing arts, the Kennedy Center has numerous stages from the Opera House to a black box theater and everything in between. Created for DC residents and tourists alike, the Center brings or originates amazing shows, events and workshops. It’s both the institutional house for the National Symphony Orchestra and the place that has daily free shows (of all types) at 6pm. It’s truly got something for everyone, and with the recent addition of The Reach its uhm, reach has broadened even further! You can never go wrong with the KC. Highly recommend visiting on a random day even if you’re not going for a show: having just celebrated 50 years, the center is proud of its history and showcases it among other revolving pieces in its vast and airy halls. Check out the terraces (ground level and “terrace” level) and enjoy sweeping views of the city. A true gem in the nation’s capital!

Greg Zillgitt: Our visit to the Kennedy Center a few years ago is one of my fondest memories. Attended a performance of Mendelssohn' violin concerto in E minor, with Hillary Hahn as the soloist. A near-perfect experience, acoustically and visually. A striking venue. Walking distance from the Watergate (also highly recommended).

Mark Capriotti: Arrive early, grab a drink, and walk along the roof top. Perfect way to start the evening looking at many views of DC. Masks are required for the theater.

C F: Beautiful performing arts center with amazing friendly staff. Our family loves to attend shows as well as grab some snacks and walk the grounds. Some beautiful views of the river, some monuments and Georgetown. Also 2 gift shops, a cafe, and multiple snack stations. Underground parking also available or you can grab the shuttle which picks up and drops off at the GW metro station.

spellman1224: Went to see the play "Ain't too proud" it was awesome. We had the last row in Tier 2 and the seats were comfortable. The staff was great and courteous and eager to assist. Was able to take Metro and take the Kennedy Center Bus to get there. Even the bus driver was friendly 😊

Grey TheCat: This place is a lot of things, historic, classy, artsy, fun, accessible, it offers a ton of free activities and events and variety. This is a cultural epicenter and one of the East coast best venues. Spacious, easy parking and overall inexpensive events make it accessible to most people even those on a small budget.
