The Dance Institute of Washington: what do users think?

Cheri Mallory: We have had a wonderful experience with DIW's Autism Acceptance Events.

Angela Ingram: Excellent Dance Training and excellent community for dances to train. DIW cares deeply for their students, faculty and staff.

Daisy Fischer: Positive: ProfessionalismMy Grandson participated in the virtual Theater Workshop on October 3rd, 2020, and he had so much fun. The ladies of Teatro La Bolsa did an excellent job of keeping the students engaged while they provided education in language, culture, dance and geography. Thank you.

Cassie Quick: I don't recommend this school as they are really unorganized. It takes weeks to follow up with parents about questions or concerns. It's pretty ridiculous. I recommend they hire additional help.
Response: Hello, Ms Quick. We are sorry to learn about your experience. As a non for profit organization our number one priority is to have the best positive impact in our youth. Of course we can’t do this without the support of parents and guardians and we apologize for the inconvenience. We would like to share that during the summer of 2019 DIW experienced multiple staff transitions and also began exciting renovation in which we are adding a new studio and student lab to our state of the art building. Although no excuse, please consider these major occurrences as a reason to why our line of communication failed you. Again, we apologize and hope you reconsider our school in the future as we have major exciting changes and upgrades in process. All best!

Zahra Carpenter: Very good quality of dance classes. Although the founder passed away, it is in the staff and teachers heart to carrying on his legacy. Cannot wait what is next for DIW!

Star Clark: I take lessons here sometimes. It's wonderful and cheap. Say hello to Lettie and Mara. Great instructors!

Noelle Hoerrner: I love to dance and the young dancers out there in Washington D.C. I think they have an opetunity here!

claudia Moreno: If it was possible to give less than one star i would. this place is beyond unprofessional and you will get tossed around from person to person trying to get basic information. horrible. horrible. absolutely horrible. customer service is absurd.

Cheryle Crawford: Great teacher for younger " bun heads", continues to use ZOOM classes effectively.

Peter Perkins: Interested in developing skills I'll highly recommend attending The Dance Institute of Washington also I much say many opportunities are available.

The Washington Ballet: what do users think?

Adriana Nateal Hammond: As a beginner ballet student, I haven't had a bad class with Wash Ballet and I go about every week. In addition to weekly classes they offer a monthly fundamentals which help you refine in a more targeted way the areas that are so important to solid technique. Monday nights and the Saturday afternoons are both great options.

Carleigh Rockett: Nice performance of a classic story

The Washington Ballet: what do users think?

Patrick: The Washington Ballet dance studios offer the highest level of pre-professional and (like me) non-professional classes for adults and young adults. You can sense the passion for ballet when speaking to faculty and the experience is immediately noticable. Not to forget the fellow dancers in class are very friendly and take the class seriously but are not afraid to socialize afterwards over a cup of coffee!

P B: We went to see the Nutcracker, and while it was gorgeous and we loved the interpretation, the lack of a live orchestra was such a deterrent. I understand that it is expensive to hire musicians for as many shows as the company has programmed, but perhaps have fewer shows (with a fuller theater - it was pretty empty where we were) and live musicians. The result was tinny sound and it was LOUD. I had to plug my ears for most it, which was a distraction. Too bad.

Monica B: Wonderful space that's easily accessible by bus or car. Went for a special event that included a cocktail reception, viewing of a rehearsal, and discussion with the artistic directors. Would definitely take dance classes here or go back for special events.

Karina Valverde: I'm no ballerina but I came here looking for adult beginner ballet classes and was not disappointed. I was allowed to first observe a class. I was a little intimidated as the dancers did not appear to be beginner as I would be among them. They did drills for the most part. The schedule and pricing is good but I have not yet fully enrolled.

Andrea Stroud: I started ballet for the first time 5 years ago and have never stopped. My wonderful teachers, Steve and Bahare, are not only excellent former professional dancers who performed leading roles with major international ballet companies, but they are incredibly fun to work with and are patient in their teaching with those of us who had never so much as slipped on a ballet slipper. They also allow me to access joy which had disappeared from my heart after my husband died tragically in a car accident. I am blessed too, with the beautiful piano music provided for each class by Natasha and Erin and others who make each class a special experience.

Lesley Shneier: First class Ballet school for adults of all levels. Classes are offered several times a day seven days a week!!! Excellent training for children and teens too

Warren Danick: I called Washington Ballet with question regarding the different programs that they have. Keep in mind that we have not gone to the place at all. The lady on the phone starting making her own evaluation and letting me know that my child was not good enough for the program. Again keep in mind that my child have not even audition for them nor have they seem her perform in any capacity. I ended my conversation with THIS woman letting her know that she is a DEBBIE DOWNER and also letting her know that how can you draw your conclusion with out seeming her perform. I completed her attitude towards my child. They should not have someone like her answering the phone lines

Leith Weston: Love the Washington Ballet! Such a great local company, with its own unique character. I loved Septime Webre's choices as Artistic Director, and was worried about the potential loss of that character under Julie Kent, but she has been doing a great job of elevating the company's technique. Different, but still awesome!

im riogrape: it was a really nice place and friendly teachers! only went for an audition but i loved it! even the studio was really nice!

Morgan Fykes: Love the Ballet and it was so great to go back to my roots and watch a performance. This group is so talented!!

Dance Loft on 14: what do users think?

Sony Laventure: Was a tough process getting the room but we enjoyed the studio space and the sound system. Our participants also gave compliments about the room

Jake Nodar: We shot a dance sequence for a music video and were thrilled with everything about this place. Booking was easy and studio 2 was perfect for what we needed.

Darrell Duane: Great dance classes including Contact Improvisation Dance, Acro Yoga, Gaga, Ballet, Modern and more. Also has a lot of great workshops and special events!

Stephen Clapp: A great place for dance and movement classes! You can also catch a vibrant live dance concert! Also the home of Dance Metro DC!

Cameron Villanueva: My first day here was magical. Ecstatic dance with Atticus Mooney had me coming back weekly to keep the magic flowing.

Sylvana Christopher: A space for the community to train in dance arts, modalities and techniques.

Jennifer Tibbs: Open dance space is a bonus to me!

Dance Place: what do users think?

Ryan Delcher: Positive: Communication, ProfessionalismThe Dance Place Studio team is awesome to work with! I worked with Sarah G at Dance Place for a special event they hosted. She was friendly, professional, and a great communicator! Highly recommend this Studio and their team!

Kelly Paras: I came here for their Sunday evening performance and had a blast! However, I wasn't quite prepared for the drink situation...they sell glasses of wine, but you can't take it into the theater area unless you purchase an adult sippy cup (literally a plastic cup with a sippy lid on it) for an additional $5. It was weird and hilarious and I'm saving the cup for next time! The only negative about the experience was that the theater itself got really warm during the performance - everyone was sweating!
Response: Hey Kelly! Thanks so much for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed our fun travels mugs -- all the cool theaters are doing it. ;) Sorry it got toasty in the theater! We'll be sure to take a look at that for next time.

Janine Hightower: The variety of performances that pass through this place is mind-blowing 🤯! A cultural experience for all. Many of the performances offer audience participation/interaction. Tickets are reasonably priced, nice variety of snacks. Also you can often meet performance members after show! Clean bathrooms, friendly and organized staff. Be prepared to give written feedback...😉

dipika: Dance Place is one of my favorite establishments in DC, period. Their site schedule is diverse and offers something for everyone and they really focus on local talent which is special. The classes are also great, quite varied, and the space is good for beginning and intermediate class.
Response: Thank you so much for this amazing review!

Momma Boots: Dance place is awesome. Can't wait to come back in the spring. Miss Princess is the best teacher ever, our child had such a great time. We thank you so much Miss Princess.

Sydney Thom: The drop in adult dance classes are a great price and the modern class was of great quality. Dance Place offers the least expensive adult drop-in dance classes I've seen in the DC/MD/VA area. The class was really fun and challenging for all ability levels and taught by Rebecca Weiss, a substitute teacher for the class. This was my first class so I can't speak toward the regular flow of class with the normal teacher, but if it was anything like the class I attended then it's probably a class I'd recommend taking. I've danced for ~10yrs when I was younger and now about 10 years later I'm in my mid-20s and trying to pick things back up again:) This class was a great class to be in as an almost newbie to adult dance.

ife felix: Delicious!!! I took an African Dance class on May 3 at 1:45 with Sylvia and had the best time ever. The class was great. I live in New York City and take three sometimes fours classes a week and they, the classes in NY could not compare for energy. The other dancers were positive and the Sylvia one of the best. Whenever I'm in DC I will be dropping in. Thank you DancePlace.

Daniel Burkholder: Dance Place is the premier performance space for dance in the DC region with performances almost every weekend ranging from Modern to Post-Modern, World Dances to Performance Art. Highlights include annual Dance Africa, DC festival as well as its complete season of regional, national and international artists. Dance Place also offers a range of classes for adults and youth from beginning to professional. A great place!

Kate Christopherson: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, ValueGreat communication and fantastic customer service provided by Ava. I truly enjoy their professionalism and responsiveness.

Dan W: I went here for a comedy show. What a joke (and I don't mean that in a good way). The theater is fine, but the staff takes far too many liberties in trying to join the show. The staff joined in the audience to fill seats and constantly interrupted the comedian. Tried to join in the act far too many times and I had to walk out. Hint: do not go to this "Dance Place" for a comedy show as much as they advertise it!

Séber Method Academy: what do users think?

Courtney Partlow: My daughter went to Seber Method Academy just for an evaluation and we've been there ever since. The owner, Lilla, was able to quickly identify my daughter's areas for improvement and her development over the past year has been eye-opening. Great, friendly atmosphere, talented staff, and individual attention to help each dancer reach her/his potential. And flexible classes for serious to non-serious dancers. Most importantly, my daughter can't wait to get to dance each day. Highly recommend.

Nikita Rao: This dance school is a real find for drop in classes for dance for adults. I would highly recommend Adriane and Kay as they are the two teachers I use for tap classes. They are excellent teachers, thorough with their teachings and very amicable and friendly. I have also met some lovely fellow adult tappers at these classes. I love the concept of drop in classes which, maybe encourages more adults to learn a method of dance without fully committing to a session made up of many weeks. *Remaining message removed per request*

Maggie Sullivan: I spent the past 4 days in the wings photographing rehearsals and performances for Seber Method Academy's Winter Concert and I just had to share this thought I had today. These dancers are truly beautiful inside and out. Not only do they each have impeccable technique and high quality stage presence (especially for their young ages!), but they also have a refreshing and sweet love for each other. As I sat backstage, after each and every piece, I could each whispers of "Good job! Good job!" and see hugs and high fives and smiles galore. Every single piece! During each piece, their peers eagerly watched with wide eyes from the wings and silently cheered when a particularly difficult step was successfully executed. There were just so many sweet, loving moments in between each of the beautifully performed pieces and I had to share! Congratulations to all the students and faculty! I'm so grateful to have been a witness to this beauty.

Riley Lewis-Jones: I absolutely love the studio- I’ve been going here for years, everyone is very welcoming and it’s a great environment to dance in! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to take classes, regardless of experience. I especially love the Belly Dance classes and being a part of the Youth Company, Raqs Habibi

Angela Ingram: Great classes an excellent training.
Response: Thank you!

Anastasia Wass: Great teachers and a welcoming environment!

Studio One Dance: what do users think?

Pia Bacolod: Positive: CommunicationMy little girl just started a week long summer camp here and had the best first day ever! She raved on and on about how much fun she had. They've got a great Director there that was very responsive to my questions as well. I love the organic fruit they offer the kids afire snacks. Nice, clean, well ran studio for the little ones.
Response: Thank you for the lovely review, Pia! We are so glad that your dancer is enjoying camp!

Austin Graff: Our three-year-old daughter LOVES Studio One Dance. For $80 a month, we attend weekly dance classes on Saturdays from 10:15-11am (the perfect amount of time to learn dance and hold a toddler's attention span). It's a small studio space on the Hill near some great places like Little Pearl and Emilie's. The front room has cubbies for your stuff and the backroom is the large dance studio with a restroom in the way back. The instructors are kind and great teachers. Our class starts with introductions, reading a book, and then doing some ballet routines in a way that's engaging to toddlers. Our toddler is engaged the entire time and looks forward to going back the next week.
Response: Hi Austin! Thank you for your kind review. We are so happy that you are enjoying classes at Studio One!

B. Fit: what do users think?

Victoria Black: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityJust took an class outside at the Fathom Gallery. Despite the heat, the instructor was clear and upbeat. It was a great work out. I forgot how awesome in person fitness classes are. Also they gave out delicious homemade chocolate covered stuffed dates, a sweet end to the class! Will definitely be returning!

Gold Yard: I've been to many barre studios, and this one is as low key and enjoyable as it gets. Fun music, interesting variations, and inviting atmosphere. Karly was especially good with timing... I hate holding moves too long and wrecking my form, but that didn't happen in her class. The receptionist is lovely, and the boutique carries my favorite sticky socks by Shashi.
Response: We loved having you at the barre this morning. You rock those sparkly Shashi socks. Hope to see you again soon. Linda, owner b.fit

Abbey Richards: I’ve been to 10+ classes, and all of the instructors have been really nice and challenging. It’s a very good barre studio worth fair price.

Meg Smith: A cute little exercise studio in Logan Circle. It's tucked up a discrete flight of stairs; you'd never know it was there. Barre classes are held in the cozy space. Although a bit pricey, the cost is in line with other studios of its kind. A solid workout — you'll be sore!

Erin Meade: I was a loyal attendee of the amazingly challenging B.Fit classes for years. Absolutely love the teachers here, incredibly fun and will kick your butt!

Tiffany E. Collins: Horrible customer service, it took them 10 minutes to open the outside door for me, their box was broken and the lady with the gray hair upstairs was extremely snooty and rude. There are many other barre studios with friendlier staff in DC. Don’t waste your time here
Response: We're so sorry you had a bad experience at the front door. Our call box was working fine today and no one else had a problem. Your name was not on our class list and it seems from our phone log that you called 14 minutes after our class began, so perhaps you were at the wrong studio. We strive to give everyone a warm welcome. Please accept our apologies.

Pole Pressure: what do users think?

Miss Candace: I have enjoyed my pole journey here. The instructors are encouraging and knowledgeable and I have found the classes to be fun of the type of positive energy I need to get my feet off the ground. There are a variety of options for all levels & they offer private and virtual lessons as well. The price is worth it. I’d definitely recommend joining this studio if you’re looking to build your skills or your confidence.
Response: Thank you for the lovely words ❤❤

Aminah Imani: Do not book here. Poor customer service. I booked a class over a week prior to the class. Paid in full. A day before the class I was informed the class was cancelled via email. Then I get a text saying they don’t issue refunds and I have to fulfill the class with them regardless of my schedule. I just wanted to try this company out but after this experience, no thank you. To infringe inconveniences on customers shows a huge lack of regard. Customer service is very important, if you have to cancel then you should ask the customer how they was to proceed in such event. You can’t force them to rebook and still do business with you especially due to your error and change of schedule. A lot of these places have policies if you are late and if you cancel last minute but don’t uphold themselves to the same esteem. They offered to rebook but I already looked at the schedule and during the day all beginner classes are booked til end of April so there would be no use for me. This is probably why the policies are geared to their benefit because they pull stunts like this often. Save yourself the money and time.
Response: Hey Aminah I am sorry you did not have a good experience. As I stated on the phone we had an emergency that came up and had to cancel the class. I offered to assist you in rebooking a class and extending the pass out so I can get you into a class. As it states on our website and receipt we do not provide refunds. I am still MORE than willing to work with you to find an acceptable solution. If you are still interested please reach out devon@polepressure.com 202-667-7653

Frances Raybaud: Pole Pressure is full of teachers who are gracious, patient, skilled, and keep things lighthearted while putting me through the most exercise I’ve ever done in my life! I have so much fun in every class- I just hope they expand their class offerings to more in the evenings to accommodate more working stiffs like me! :D
Response: ❤️ Thank you for the lovely review

S.M. P.: Awesome pole studio! The instructors are good and there are a variety of teaching styles too. I love that I can attend classes online from the other side of the USA too! VERY reasonably priced and lots of classes to pick from. SO GLAD I FOUND THIS PLACE!
Response: ❤❤

Anndria Thomas: Best time ever, thank you all so much for helping make our bachelorette trip amazing!!! The girls, the bride and I absolutely loved it. The instructor was amazing. I will definitely recommend you guys and I will be returning!!!

Indya Heyward: Didn’t get a chance to dance. had a open session w/o instructor and due their late policy weren’t able to get in. W/o refund or credit if you are some one who is late or it’s an accident/ parking issue/ life just turn around and save the hassle as no one will be available at the locked door. May be a good experience but I wouldn’t know. Not sure if I’ll risk going back as I’ve already lost my initial amount for class. Smart. but seems like a ploy for money. Update: was given a voucher and enjoyed my open session. was able to play my own music and rock out recommend just BE ON TIME…
Response: Hey Indya! Sorry you didn't have a great experience we make our late cancel policy 110% clear in our website, class description, emails/texts (sent immediately when you book, 1 day, 24 hours, and 1 hour before class) and notices on door. We do not have additional staff to open the door for late arrivals. I will offer you the option of one time of rebooking your open practice class. I'll reach out to follow up.

Ariel Kersky: This review is long overdue. I cannot stress enough how fantastic Pole Pressure is as a business. Prior to moving overseas I was lucky enough to take a couple pole and hoop classes at the studio. Every single class was not only fun, but an incredible workout. Even in the COVID digital era I was able to take an online class, Twerkshop with Keabra. I had so much fun. Keabra is such a fabulous instructor, I highly recommend people take any of her stretch/handstand/twerk classes. Or if Keabra is in DC take one of her pole classes in the studio. You won't regret it. The owner of Pole Pressure Devon is also wonderful. Super responsive and communicative to emails. Really cares about the business and those who teach and take classes. If you are in DC take a class at the studio. If you aren't in DC take one of Pole Pressure's many online classes. I can't wait to get back and take an in-person class. Thank you Devon for giving us such a wonderful place to work hard and have fun.
Response: ❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you

Massimiliano Bissa: Before starting my experience at pole pressure I used to go to other pole studios. Pole pressure is definitely better for many reasons. I particularly appreciate the many classes available that cover all the levels, from beginner to advanced, whereas other studios have only few choices. It may be a little bit more expensive than other but you are sure to have your pole without sharing it with other 2/3 people. Instructors are amazing... Really well trained and they follow all the people in the class to help them, and also very supportive. So far my favorite studio on DC!
Response: Thank you so much for the review

Stephanie Patrice: Well all I can say is “it’s worth every penny” this is my 3rd try of trying to find a class during covid and in the past 2 weeks I’ve learned more and became a lot more confident in myself. I love the diversity of the teachers and learning different techniques and routines. The library is a plus!
Response: So glad you are enjoying the classes and on demand library :)

Cara Weathers: Amazing studio! Super fun instructors and warm welcoming students :)
Response: ❤️❤️❤️

Dance Trance DC: what do users think?

Jen Kennery: I cannot say enough good things about how much FUN Dance Trance is!! Oh man, from the teachers, to the music, to the choreo, the community…everything about DTDC Is just so welcoming and so much fun. Experienced members go out of their way to introduce themselves to new folks and after classes a few times a week a group may head to a nearby spot to grab a bite or a drink. 👌🏻 Easiest decision ever.

Chelsea Phipps: I'm so glad I found Dance Trance. It is the ONLY work out regimen I've EVER been able to be continuously excited to go to. I never have to drag myself there. I go 3-5 days a week every week. I feel healthier, happier, and my body thanks me for it!

The Kirov Academy of Washington, DC: what do users think?

Natalie Taylor: Incredibly professional and quality instruction. I took their online adult ballet, and Allison and Irina both were marvelous. Allison clearly set goals for the improvement of her students and was really knowledge about the biomechanics necessary to achieve those goals. I dramatically improved in flexibility and strength by spending mornings with Irina. The Saturday workshops (when I could make them) were informative and fun.

Kitty Al: All our family and friends were very pleased and happy to join online this year's Winter Gala Performance by students of Kirov Academy. The students have done a wonderful job training and showing their newly acquired skills. Thanks to all the teachers, choreographers, and staff members for providing families with such a wonderful opportunity to see their loved one's perform and shine, showing their latest achievements. Looking forward to see your Spring Gala Performance at the end of the academic year. Thanks a lot.

Jolissa Lybarger: The Kirov prepares not only quality Vaganova based ballet training, but also provides a supportive and kind staff. Their ability to connect with their students was apparent to me within a few days. They have high standards for instruction but also understand the importance of knowing kids. Their communication is always done with such thoughtfulness and efficiency. I never had to wait long for a response regardless of how busy the staff was at that time. I was also always treated with respect no matter how small or strange the question. I really felt valued as a parent. The best part was my daughter left The Kirov summer intensive a better and more confident dancer.

Yoonee van den eynde: My daughter loved so much her Summer Intensive at the Kirov Academy! She loved all!! She had such an incredible experience and she was so grateful to have such a hight level of training! She loved her teachers . She blossomed socially and made great friends ! The food was as well delicious and all the staff working there were incredibly sweet and helpful! So she can’t wait to be back for the year around ! She found her Ballet family and we are so grateful ❤️ Thank you Kirov Academy! Services: Jazz , Repertory ballet , Intermediate program , Classical ballet technique , Pointe ballet

Gail Kee: Kirov is a place for the serious ballet student, and few schools in the US that can match it in terms of teaching and care of full-time academy students. Kirov instructors pay attention to all students, not just the best ones. My 15-year old daughter has been in the academy for 3 years, and she has grown tremendously, not only in technical ability but in artistry and emotional understanding of her craft. Kirov, like any ballet school, has had its ups and down. But we have always appreciated the deep commitment of the teachers and staff.

Karen Cerkez: The Kirov Academy is a Great School , with a caring and loving Staff. The school has a wonderful history and a strong Alumni . Past Students and Graduates are performing in major ballet companies all over the World ,as Corp members , Soloist and Principal dancers. Many of them that have retired from there dance careers have become Doctors , Lawyers ,CEOs, Business Owners even Movie Stars. The school has had a 100% of students graduating and going onto great careers .

L D: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityKirov was the only school this summer that went through all the hoops to provide an in-person intensive. Kudos! They succeeded despite many obstacles and my daughter gained valuable skills in a classroom, where dancers need to be.

Sharon Leve: If I could give this school less than 1 star I would. My daughter attended the 2019 Summer Intensive and it was truly horrible. Her ballet teacher only spoke Russian and would become upset if no one understood her. I complained to the director and was told it was my daughters fault. This wasn't the worst of it. The teacher only taught to about 3 girls in the class, only speaking to them (in Russian) only using them to demonstrate, only using them to dance, making everyone else stand on the side to watch. These same girls were given solos in all the performances or variations they did. Again, I spoke to the director who promised me she was looking into it and the other parents had complained as well. She also told me that particular teacher wouldn't be invited back to teach, little help to my daughter this year. Nothing changed the whole 6 weeks. My daughter, who was very enthusiastic to learn, learned NOTHING here, waste of time, waste of money. DO NOT attend this SI. I can only assume the school is the same.

acarineric: Positive: Professionalism, QualityA super show from the dancers of the Kirov Academy combining ballet skills and artistic talent. Kudos to the Kirov Academy for having delivered this full length and diverse gala show under the constraint of the pandemic.

Rhonda Williams: I attended a student performance and was unexpectedly moved to tears by the purity and integrity of the artists and their transcendent presentation. The Vaganova method is not for all dancers but Kirov Academy is a brilliant light in our nation's capital, upholding the standard of this demanding art form. Every Kirov graduate blesses the world with sublime beauty honed by inestimable hours of sacrifice and discipline-not in isolation, but surrounded and supported by a team of uncommonly dedicated teachers and staff.

Greater Washington Dance Center: what do users think?

The Mills Family: GWDC is a wonderful dance home for any family. Our daughter loves her teachers and classes and they always challenge her to grow. We are thankful for the healthy attitudes about body image, strength and diversity that are present at the studio. Our daughter looks up to the older dancers who are great role models. The performance opportunities, especially the Nutcracker, are something our daughter looks forward to every year.

Dawn Tucker: My daughter, now 6, has been a part of the GWDC family for a couple years. They are inclusive, supportive, and a wonderful studio to be a part of. The owner and teachers are professional and work with children no matter the goals. We are proud to be a part of this community and feel very lucky for my daughter to have started here so young.

John Setlik: Our daughter has attended GWDC now for 3 years, entering at an awkward age with not particularly strong dance experience. Within a year, Gretchen and her staff had turned her around with noticeable improvement. They have been positive, supportive, and inclusive in such a way that our daughter LOVES attending her multiple classes each week. Being a busy high school student, Gretchen was very kind about working with difficult schedules. It’s also very clear that student safety is a top priority as training is taken very seriously before students are allowed to advance. Along with the ballet instruction, the modern and tap classes are excellent as well. If you’re looking for dance instruction at any age, we would highly recommend checking out GWDC!

C Spinney: My oldest daughter attends three dance classes per week at GWDC and she has learned more in a few sessions than she had in a year in a previous school. The instructors are top notch. This school is impressive for a newer school - it is incredibly organized, they offer a lot of guest dance instructors, varied fitness classes, and more music and performance art options are added all the time. Also - it's for both children and adults. This school is on a whole different level than some of the other local schools, but at the same time the philosophy of the owner is for kids to have fun. Highly recommend!

Meg V: This is such a wonderful studio! The quality of instruction is superb, but most importantly it is a loving, encouraging, and kind family of dancers for all ages and levels.

Caitlin Vives: GWDC is an absolute haven for my sparkly, ballet-loving son. GWDC is an inclusive, welcoming, HEALTHY dance studio that offers all dancers a place to grow and flourish on their dance journey. If you have a son who is interested in dance, THIS is the place to be. GWDC values all of their dancers, but the male dancers here are not just an afterthought. The studio has various classes devoted to helping the male dancers hone their skills. The camaraderie among the ballerinos is absolutely gorgeous. You cannot ask for a better set of role models and companions for your son. The director is warm, welcoming, and holds high expectations rooted unequivocally in love for not just dance but each dancer. The inclusive and hospitable environment at GWDC comes from the top down. Every teacher cares. Every single one. If you want to offer your child a place where they can safely be themselves and pursue/find not just their love of dance but of themselves, come to GWDC. And if you do join us, come say, "Hi!" We GWDC parents are a friendly lot :)
Response: Thank you SO much! ❤️ And, yes, the GWDC parents are the BEST!

Amanda King: GWDC has amazing teachers! We love Ms Julianne, she is patient and kind, especially with a room of 5 year old beginning ballerinas. Highly recommend this studio, especially for young dancers.

Lynne Glowacki: Edit 2019. I am attaching a screen shot of a message that the studio director sent out during Nutcracker last year. This message was sent out as a direct response to something that I did, namely, at the request of another parent, I asked some of the younger girls who were acting horribly to another girl to (1) stop taking off their costume hats and shoes; (2) stop throwing their costume hats and shoes; (3) stop trying to take costume pieces off of girls who didn't want to participate in their shenanigans. I explained to them that we were working very hard on these costumes and they needed to show some respect. One of the parents complained and instead of coming to me, the Studio Director sent out this message to the entire Nutcracker family. Most of the parents thought I was staff because I volunteered for so many hours on costumes, they had no idea I was actually just another parent and not a paid employee. I think that the message speaks for itself; however, we have since left the studio, and after half a year at a different studio, both of my kids have improved tremendously in their dancing. Perhaps the statement that we shouldn't be correcting the students extends to correcting their dancing. In case you cannot read the email, the text follows: ***A NOTE REGARDING THE BACKSTAGE AREA*** It is absolutely imperative that this remain a POSITIVE environment for all of the young dancers. While there needs to be discipline in terms of keeping the dancers quiet, protecting the costumes and following instructions, it is equally important that the young dancers are not exposed to inappropriate language and harsh, pointed words of chastisement. NO production quality should be at the expense of a young person’s feeling of value and self-worth. I understand the excitement of the impending production but as adults we need to always keep in mind that what we are feeling is only a quarter of what the young people are feeling. This is going to be the memory of a lifetime for them and they need to have only positive, wonderful feelings about their participation in our show. Thank you so much for your cooperation in this matter. Original post is below. It's astounding how much I gave to this studio. ______________________________________ My daughter has been attending GWDC since it opened, and my son has been attending for the last year. As a former dancer, I sincerely appreciate this studio, the teachers, and the entire dance philosophy. As very young dancers, students learn the love of dance and movement and dance through play. As they get older, play is reduced and more technique is brought in. That is not to say the older kids don't have any fun, though. Through Ballet 2, students still play with props, but in a way that encourages the learning of new movements (think wax on, wax off only for ballet!). Ballet is taught as the basics and foundation of other dance forms, and older students can add in other dance forms. There is also a great feeling just bringing your children to the school. You can watch your younger children dance, as they are in a classroom with a large window for parents to look through), so you never feel like you don't know what they are learning or how they are doing. The teachers will answer questions and have often stayed late to do so. I have personally taken some of the adult classes as well, and I highly recommend them! Right now, they're trying to get some of us former dancers back into form, and it's fantastic.

Diedre Smith: My daughter has loved every class she's taken her. I love the growth I'm seeing in her dance skills and I'm thankful for the time and effort the teachers give to her and the other students!

Maryland Youth Ballet: what do users think?

Carolina C: I take adult classes at MYB and my experience there has been truly wonderful. I used to go to the Washington Ballet (TWB), a place I like very much and hold dear to my heart, but since I moved to Maryland, the commute became more complicated. As it is the case with many dancers, we tend to become set on our routines, so I was a bit concerned about finding a place I liked as much as TWB. A few people recommended me MYB as the teachers, level of the classes, and live piano accompaniment were similar to what I was accustomed to. And so far, MYB has far exceeded my expectations. First, the teachers are excellent. They bring a wide array of styles so it’s very interesting to experience different classes. Not only their knowledge and techniques are impecable, but they are kind, compassionate, fun and are very skilled at teaching adults, which requires a certain level of finesse and understanding. I have been taking classes mostly with Susan Gresko, Jennifer Ferguson, Deidre Byrne and Lisae Jordan. Because I love their styles and the schedule works really well for me, I mostly take Susan Gresko and Jennifer Ferguson’s classes, and I am extremely happy with them. Susan has awaken in me that fire and excitement I recall having in my teenage years ballet classes. Her classes offer that challenge you need to see tangible improvements. Jennifer is extremely sweet and has the ability to make everyone in class feel relevant and make personalized corrections. So thank you so much to both of you! Second, most of the adult classes are scheduled at convenient times in evening weekdays and during the weekend, which are great for working professionals. Third, the pricing is very reasonable and the live music accompaniment is absolutely stellar. I recognize many of the pianists from TWB. Fourth, the studios are ample and clean, most receptionists are friendly and helpful, and the online booking system works very well. My one recommendation is to consider offering a more ample package to purchase classes. Currently there are only 2 options: a 10 class package and monthly unlimited. This is a bit limiting for people who want to buy more than 10 classes but can’t use them during a month. Lastly, please consider offering an adult summer intensive at MYB. Many of us would absolutely love attending such a program at MYB, and unfortunately no good programs are available in the area. Thanks so much again and keep the wonderful work!

Eugene Turk: It is a wonder how many stellar teachers and musicians are collected in MYB. Fantastic dedication to their craft, and such beautiful accompanying piano. My hips are more flexible now, and I feel as if dancing has given my life new meaning during this trying time of my life! Thanks MYB!

Nicole Konstantopoulos: So much talent in one place! If you are looking for exceptional ballet training, this is the place to go! The staff is amazing! They meet each dancer where they are and help them grow. They also are an amazing community. All of the teachers and alumni are always willing to help the current dancers. They are a wealth of advice and information!

Samantha Encarnacion: They could improve by: one actually listen to children concerns, not everyone learns the same. They are not even willing to listen to any accommodations especially due to covid. I inquired about a possible one day trial, I didn't state anything it absolutely being free or not. I clearly stated the facts of my child maybe not being able to virtually grasp the lessons, seeing as she is very hands on and active in learning. She is more of a in person active listener. They clearly state no Free trial classes. The email was very informal back to me, nor there wasn't any “trying to understand” the meaning of my concern. It is not a Ballet Academy I would ever considered again. It also doesn’t seem diverse & as if they would consent to other “Non Diverse” issues. Thank you all and I would really re-considered not enrolling a young child until your child can maturely verbally express themselves after the age of 8-9 years of age. This is from me a Public Education teacher. Thank you.

Luca Maro: This is a fantastic place. The studio is very nice and well kept in a very nice and convenient area. The teachers are top notch. They are very good and explaining and ensuring everyone is getting the most out of their classes. There's also a great selection of classes.

Michal Boyars: My daughter LOVES her dance classes at MYB. She is normally shy but really comes out of her shell in dance class. We can't wait to sign her up for next year, too!

Donna Reese: My daughter studied at MYB from age eight through her high school graduation. She danced in college on a dance scholarship. This is, by far, the most professional ballet school in the area. Her training was outstanding.

Hilary Hemmatipour: My daughter has been attending little dancer classes for 6 months and has learned nothing. Additionally, they don't do recitals, and the atmosphere is very stuffy, stuck up, and rude. Expensive for no good reason.

Monica B.: This is the worst ballet place i've ever been; my daughter signed up for the audition and had the time scheduled, she was so excited about that; we showed up at the studio then found out no audition. They knew this audition will not take place and not even bother to inform us. What a customer service.

linnea allison: I love this place! They always make me feel so welcome. I highly recommend this amazing ballet school.

Rendezvous Social Dance Studio & Fitness Club: what do users think?

N V: Only been to 1 class but it was so much fun! Learned a lot during one class. I love that the instructor is paying attention to everyone and giving them advice. I love that we change partners in the class to dance with everyone too, gives you experience to dance w people w different styles and cues.

Kianna Nobles: I absolutely love this place! They were like heros comming to rescue us! I won't lie, after reading some of the reviews, I was nervous. But it turned wonderful! As long as you don't cancel you should be fine :) My husband and I had our wedding here Nov 14, 2020 and it was an awesome experience. Working with Mitzi and her team was absolutely incredible and so smooth! All I did was tell what we wanted and they took care of every single thing from decorations to the cake to set up/tear down. They were super friendly and helpful! They were also much more affordable and well-priced. We looked at A LOT of venues and even booked with a different venue initially (before Covid-19) and Rendezvous proved their value. Much friendlier, more helpful, and way cooler than our previous venue! I will always recommend them and will definitely book with them for an event in the future.

Maria Lloisa Reich: Rendezvous is currently the best place to meet to learn different types of Dance like Ballroom, Swing, Hustle, Salsa and Country. It is a very fitness oriented dance studio and is a very great social dance club which holds large dance parties like Salsa, Hustle, Swing and other big events. First you learn to dance, then you use your dancing here during the socials and then be part of the huge family like network of friends, members, students and instructors at Rendezvous. People often remarked of the warm atmosphere and the nice ambience of the studio.

Reese Davis: Rendezvous was the decorator for my wedding. I can't say enough good things about it. I loved the working with Mitsy. She was so nice. Her and her team executed what I wanted for my wedding and it looked gorgeous. The decorations were simple but elegant. Everyone loved them. I would highly recommend them as we will be working with them again. Once again thanks for making my wedding beautiful.

K Smiles: I like the set up and lay out of this space. I'm sure I will be back again!

Ireland: I took my first dance class this past Friday. Instructor named Reggie. He was so nice, knowledgeable and accommodating as I do have health issues. He was very attentive to my limitations. I liked that. 👏🏾 The class was fun, challenging and exhausting. I left feeling proud👊🏽💯 I was sweating, but I had fun. I've got a long way to go😬 But I'll be back. The owner, Richard, and other attendees were nice.💃🏿

Jan Kerry Portillas: Wonderful place ,Great people ! Book your next Party at Rendezvous dance studio

Shay T: If I could give ZERO stars, I would. I booked this place a few years ago for my wedding reception. Because of my husband's occupation, we never know when plans will change; so I chose this place because there were SUPPOSED to be no non refundable fees. The owner, Richard, started out extremely friendly and willing to work with what I needed. Once I paid my security deposit and made a down payment, his attitude and willingness to accommodate our needs soon changed. In the contract it stated that if I cancelled in 14 days or less of the event, the company could keep a certain amount of the deposits. I gave several formal notices at LEAST 40 days before my event, including voicemails and certified letters. The owner denied phone calls; promised to call back and didn't and didn't reply to voice mails. When I finally got in touch with him, he offered to let me reschedule my event, but denied my refund. Rescheduling was out of the question because my husbands job was moving our family again. He then offered to give me half of my payment back, but changed his mind. Plus, I needed the full payment back. He has yet to return a penny, even though I gave more than enough notice. I feel this man was very sneaky and I'm disappointed that he operates his business in this manner. I had no event and he kept all of my money. I would never recommend anyone do any kind of business with Richard. I am so disappointed with his business ethics...

Helen Lara: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueGreat price, excellent services I highly recommend

Melanie Kurimchak: I purchased a Groupon a while back and have long since used up my allotted classes. We used to come in for Mourien's Zumba class each week. She is by far the best Zumba instructor I've ever had the opportunity to learn from. Her dance moves are amazing, her music choice is STELLAR and her booty makes me want to do squats for a living. The class is challenging--you will leave sweating and your legs will be shaky--but it's totally worth the price. Do yourself a favor and look for her on YouTube-she has posted several videos from class. My only complaints are that classes can be very full at times and the competence and skill of the instructors tends to vary. However, if you check the schedule and go on a night when Mourien is teaching (right now the site says Tuesdays at 6:30), you will not be disappointed.
Response: Hey, Melanie! We know it's been a while, but we just wanted to reach out and say thanks for the great review! We're so glad you enjoyed our classes and you felt challenged! We appreciate your feedback, and hope to see you again soon! -Richard, Owner

Lindsay Holmes: If you’ve ever contemplated taking a pole dancing class, this is your sign to do so! I took a pole 1 class with Markita and had a BLAST! You get to learn a bunch of different moves and at the end put them all together in a routine. I’d recommend bringing knee pads but if you don’t have any, they have some available to rent and to buy!
Response: Hi Lindsay. Thank you so much for your review. We’re so glad you had a great time in Pole 1 and we hope to see you back again soon.

Katie Gonzalez: I love this place!!! I tell everyone about it. The classes are fun, you can choose your own schedule, and all the instructors are amazing. I feel comfortable, and everyone is very welcoming. Best suggestion for anyone who wants to take a peak about what DDF is all about, come to a Divas night out event. You won’t regret it.
Response: Hi Katie. Thanks so much for your review. We’re so glad that you are enjoying your experience with us. We look forward to seeing you in class and thanks for recommending us.

Lynnice Brown: I started with a intro offer and have been hooked ever since the instructors are knowledgeable the facility is accommodating and they have a variety of available classes I myself was interested in pole. I have been going since the new year and since I see such a difference I am so much stronger but also proud of the fact that I’ve made a lot of progress, no matter the body you are in you will feel comfortable and sexier after going.
Response: Hi Lynnice. Thank you for your review. We’re so glad you’re enjoying your time with us. Thank you for dancing with us at DDF❤️

Jamila Green: I booked divas and dolls for a twerk class party. With the package I purchased I was able to bring my own drinks and food. Everyone who attended got a free class to book in the future and the birthday girl recived a week of classes for free! Nicole was a great instructor and it was a great experience overall! Will definitely book a other event with divas and dolls!
Response: Hi Jamila. We’re so glad you had a great experience. Thanks for booking a party with us and we hope to see you back soon.

Janet Benitez: We had a blast doing a private class with my girls. The instructor was very friendly & made us feel comfortable. We will definitely be back!
Response: Hi Janet. Thank you so much for your review and we’re glad you and your friends had a great time. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Tierra Oskay: I did the yoga class and it was nice. They should invest in more sound proofing so the varying music, playing during the varying classes, doesn't clash. I look forward to taking more classes
Response: Hi Tierra. Thank you for your review and we’re glad you enjoyed the yoga class. We will take you feedback into consideration and look forward to a seeing you back again.

Marie Brown: I really like this studio and appreciate that it's in my neighborhood. Usually you have to drive into DC and NOVA to find a great studio but that's not the case here. I've taken MixxedFit, Yoga, and Twerk. All were good.
Response: Hi Marie. Thank you for your review. We’re glad you’ve enjoyed classes with us. We hope to see you back soon.

Unbothered Ming: Liked it at first but Classes with markita starts on her time and her attitude is not so welcoming. Markita do more technical not fun or sexy moves. She rushes you out knowing we have at least 10mins of class left not cool i loved paola Pole 1 she needs to be the teacher permanently! it was sexy fun and relatable very up to date on her moves.
Response: Hello. Thank you for your feedback. We strive to teach classes that are fun, sexy, safe and give you a solid foundation of beginner moves. We will most definitely take your feedback into consideration.

nhwellness: This place is amazing! The staff is wonderful; and the camaraderie of sisterhood is obvious. It's a no judgment zone where women can come alternatively to a gym and get a good workout while discovering their sexinest. There is no other place Id rather be to workout. It's Divas & Dolls. Dr. MButler 2022
Response: Hi Michelle. Thank you so much for your review. We’re so glad you’ve found a fitness home and sisterhood at DDF.

Wanda Reid: We had the most fun and plan on coming back very soon. Very pleasant staff and clean facility.
