DanceSport Dupont Circle: what do users think?

Jason Janke: We found Terry with only one month until our wedding day, and over just a few classes he worked with us to choreograph an elegant, yet achievable first dance for us (we came in with no prior experience). We even changed songs after our first lesson, and he was able to quickly change the style of dance to better match the different pace of song. We had fun with the resulting dance, which impressed our guests and brought out some tears. The space could occasionally get crowded with other classes going on, but it was never an issue. We were happy with everything, and enjoyed our time learning/practicing.

Adam Abramson: Terry is very knowledgeable and has good tips. It’s a fun class that I’ll definitely use at my wedding. My only gripe is that if there’s other classes going on, he’s really soft spoken so it’s hard to hear. Would recommend though! Especially if you want a choreographed dance.

Sharon Williams: Love Earl! He is a great instructor! Also love the salsa club he took us to to apply what we have learned. Looking forward to the next class!

Sam Young: Terry was great however it was very difficult to hear with two other classes happening simultaneously in the same room with their own music.

Sarah Pearce: Terry choreographed our first dance for our wedding this past November and our guests loved it! It was one of the highlights of our reception. We never anticipated that our guests would be cheering for us! Neither one of us have taken lessons in the past, so we were anxious going into our first lesson. But Terry made us feel very comfortable and was very patient with us. He's very creative and provided a few options/moves for us to use based on what we preferred. We loved going home to practice - it was such a fun experience during the high-stress time of planning the rest of the wedding. I highly recommend!

Alessandro Ghidini: I have attended DanceSport Dupont Circle for the past 2 years. The dance area is spacious and divided by mirror screens to allow concurrent classes. I have taken ballroom lessons with Terry Chasteen with a focus on International style. Terry is the most patient and competent instructor one can desire. His own experience as competitor and judge at national and international competitions makes him perfectly suited to train and prepare a couple for the world of competitions. I was thus able to compete at a few National and one international competitions. It was a fantastic experience and Terry was there until the end to support me and my partner in our endeavor. I have also observed Terry interacting with couples who want to prepare for wedding events, and he is excellent at putting together a choreography that suits the music chosen by the bride (either for the dance with the groom or with the bride's father), as well as their dancing skills. You will not regret your decision to start dancing at DanceSport Dupont Circle!

Elsa Peraldi: Luca was our teacher for our wedding dance. He was great!!! Not only did he worked with us to have a great choreography, but he was also super patient with us and help us navigate the process at times when we would be stressed. He is really flexible and works with you to find a time that works for you. Couldn't recommend more!

Louis L.: OMG, Terry is adorable. Clearly, he eats, sleeps and breathes everything related to dancing. I have known him to dance with students late into the evening--perhaps having a power snack in between--but never skipping a beat! He is patient and accommodating. My dance partner and I won 3 silver medals after Terry choreographed four fantastic Latin dance routines in preparation for our dance competition in 2018. I am forever grateful to Terry for his training.

Jonathan Dickinson: We arrived 10 minutes early, and then waited 15 minutes after our appointment time. The instructor ignored us for the couple ahead of us. We planned our day and evening around this lesson.

John Farr: Great job of teaching the first dance wedding basics

Chevy Chase Ballroom: what do users think?

Ariel Kramer O'Brien: Dima helped us put together an amazing first dance on our wedding day. He has the perfect balance of humor and direction, and it made the whole process quite enjoyable.

Rachel Unger: My husband and I had a such wonderful experience taking wedding dance lessons this past summer at Chevy Chase Ballroom with Dmytro Churchun for our September wedding. In fact, it was our favorite part of wedding planning and one of the best parts of our wedding day. We miss CC ballroom already! With ZERO prior social dance experience together, we were able to perform a hybrid foxtrot and swing dance 2:30 min routine that was a fantastic surprise for our family and friends. Dmytro was super encouraging and the most patient with our complete lack of rhythm and synchronization. He helped create a dance that was fun and very “us.” In the three months leading up to our wedding, we ended up taking 7-9 lessons though I’m sure most couples don’t need that many, we loved having the lessons to break up the tedium of other wedding planning tasks. We felt it was excellent value and well worth the investment. Dmytro and Irina are top notch at what they do and you cannot go wrong with Chevy Chase Ballroom no matter your skill level or time constraints!

Elizabeth Bellingrath McClure: Chevy Chase Ballroom is exceptional in terms of their dancing program. The atmosphere is friendly, fun, and inviting. Inviting to dance at every level, every style of dance. Dmitriy is very patient and thorough in terms of technique, style and grace. He is a very inspiring instructor. I would recommend Chevy Chase Ballroom to all levels of ballroom dancers, especially to the novice who never danced a step. In no time, you will be gracefully dancing on the dance floor like Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers--really!

Michael B. Rubin: The ballroom and floor are very nice. The social parties have good food but typically not many very good dancers. Lessons are expensive. You can get the same lessons at other dance studios in the DC area for 25% or more less with just as good teachers. You can get group lessons through your county department of recreation for more than 50% less. If you like to attend fancy, expensive events CCB has them. I no longer attend CCB socials as I used to because the owner Irina does not understand American culture. She insulted me several times thinking I was trying to steal students from CCB, which I was not. She does not understand that a man asking a woman for her phone number so that he can invite her out to dance does not mean he is trying to take her away from CCB. I assume that Irina's paranoid behavior is due to her growing up in Ukraine under Russian domination, where people spied on their neighbors. That is not life in the U.S. By the way, there are several other ballroom dance studios in the DC area I would recommend including Hollywood Ballroom in Silver Spring, MD, Avant Garde in Rockville, MD, In Step School of Dance in Fairfax, VA, and Elegant Dance Studio in Fairfax, VA. I have been ballroom dancing in the Washington, DC area since 1985. I have NEVER been insulted at ANY dance studio by ANYONE except for at Chevy Chase Ballroom.

Ellen Coppley: My husband and I are social dancers and wanted to learn a few more moves. We signed up for ten classes and have gotten hooked. We have had three different instructors over time and each one has brought something special to the experience. We go during the day during the week so we can't speak to what it is like in the evenings or on weekends, but our experience has been excellent and we've learned a ton. We particularly love Irina, owner and champion dancer, and appreciate her natural enthusiasm and support.

Karina Valverde: Salsa Sundays! Starting at 5 the music entices to the salsa classes (rueda style). After the classes they have a social. There are many other dance styles and classes to sign up for (ballroom style) but I've only checked out the salsa.

Vahan Kharazyan: I Love CCB ballroom dance studio and there service.

Andrea Cas: (Translated by Google) Excellent dance hall, comfortable, spacious, good floor, excellent organization and good dancers to milonga! (Original) Salón de baile excelente, cómodo, amplio, buen piso, excelente organización y buenos bailarines para milonguear !!!

ALL2DANCE.com: what do users think?

Sarah Close: We came in for a dance lesson three weeks before our wedding without any clue and wanting a few tips for our first dance. Victor very quickly helped us pick out a dance and tailored his instruction to the ways that we both learn best (impressive, considering he had just met us!). Victor taught us in a very humorous and compassionate manner that made the entire experience fun. He also provided a number of helpful tips and reminders for our wedding day, beyond just the first dance, that really helped us stay calm and focused. We would highly recommend ALL2DANCE to anyone, whether or not they have a wedding to prepare for- it was a great experience!

Olivia Davis: My husband and I began taking private dance lessons with Ann at ALL2Dance several months before our wedding and loved every minute of them. We came out of our lessons feeling very confident about our rumba skills for our 'first dance' (no choreography needed!) and felt that this was generally such a fun and different way to spend time together. We'll definitely be continuing our lessons with them beyond the wedding!

scottskywalker21: Had a quick lesson before my wedding in a week! Never danced before in my life, but Vic was a true professional. He's probably the best couch or instructor I've ever had in my life, and I can tell that he really loves to teach. He makes learning to dance easy, even for someone with two left feet(me). Excellent instructor, hands down!!

Michael Koppes: Victor was a terrific instructor. He told us he would get us there and he did. My wife and I found our weekly dance classes a great stress relief while planning our wedding!

Capital Ballroom Dance Studio: what do users think?

Lindsay Ridgeway: Wonderful teachers and a wonderful dance floor. Lessons from the fine instructors all year round, and showcases several times per year. A beautiful and addictive experience

Matt Easley: Lots of great dancers but a few too many cliques and most followers are staring at their cell phones. Not sure many dancer are using cabaseo. Because of the distance and lighting most leaders walk up to within 5-10' of a follower as they glance at them. Not very subtle but it works. Great floor and good music. I prefer Eastern Market. Much friendlier vibe.

Zita Buky: Nice size floor with plenty of room to dance. Good location with public parking just around the corner. Lasca Low's drill class on Saturday afternoon is perfect for those wanting to improve all aspects of International Standard. Just started coming to this studio. Have not met all the instructors yet.

E Triscari: Whether it is group classes or private lessons, the instruction at Capital Ballroom is professional, progressive and fun. I love the location and the space is excellent for beginners and advanced students alike. The wedding couples are so wonderful to watch and I just love the kids learning how to cha cha cha for the first time. Great place.

James Coltharp: Outstanding studio. Great instructors! Large floor with plenty of spacing. Positive dance community.

Sara P: World class instruction, easy to find and beautiful ballroom to dance in. Great view of the Bethesda area looking out the floor to ceiling windows. Learn from the best!

Jing Qian: Excellent place to dance ballroom and Latin. Especially for the Saturday night dance, you get 3.5 hours non-stop dancing with only $15 per person, a great deal.

Mattias Herrfurth: Very friendly and patient instructors.

Haydar Celik: Large dance space

Adrienne Sgarlato: Yo was our instructor for our wedding dance lessons and she was the absolute SWEETEST and choreographed the perfect dance for our song. Can't thank her enough for her patience and kindness, we had a great time and our guests thought our dance was beautiful!

Art of Movement: what do users think?

Hannah Steckler: Alyssa was referred to us through a family friend, and I’m so glad we found her. My husband and I had zero dance experience and wanted just a couple lessons to have some kind of routine for our first dance. Alyssa choreographed the perfect dance to our song - not too hard for us to learn but with a couple lifts and turns that made it extra special! My friends and family were super impressed at our wedding. Highly recommend if you are looking for lessons in the DC area !
Response: Thank you for the kind words, Hannah! I’m glad we made something that fit the vibe of the song but also wowed your guests! :)

James Christian: We couldn’t imagine a better teacher as my wife, myself, and my two left feet stood in need of two months of basic ballroom dancing to in preparation for our son’s wedding dance reception. We are an older couple who had no experience with formal paired dancing. Alyssa was extraordinarily gifted in orienting us to Hustle, West Coast Swing, and a couple of other dances. Alyssa was both patient and encouraging— and an amazing encyclopedia of moves and variations. And all of our dance lessons were never tedious, but rather always the greatest fun. And finally, after only a dozen or so lessons, we were able to literally “stop the show” at our son’s wedding dance reception. The whole floor of 30 y/o’s ended up stopping just to draw around, watch and applaud us! My wife and I love Alyssa and have now signed up for another dozen lessons!
Response: Thank you, James! It has been a joy getting to know and teach you both! :)

Cait Beroza: I can’t recommend Alyssa highly enough! She taught my fiancé and I a choreographed swing dance for our wedding. In addition to choreographing an impressive dance, she was an amazing teacher. She was patient, professional, broke down complicated dance moves, and cheered us on when we needed encouragement. We would work with Alyssa again in a heart beat!
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words, Cait! You and Jeff were so much fun to work with, and I am excited to see your first dance! :)

Joel Spiro: Katie and I had such an enjoyable and productive time learning a dance routine for our wedding with Alyssa. She is an extremely patient, clear and friendly instructor. We laughed plenty and always looked forward to our next sessions. The dance turned out beautiful and we’re so excited and confident to perform it at our wedding.
Response: Thank you so much, Joel! I had a fantastic time working with you both, and I cannot wait to see your first dance! :)

Roger Cushing: My wife and I have greatly enjoyed taking a five-week introduction to single-step swing with Alyssa! It looks like we are going to be able to learn how to dance even though we started fairly late in life (almost 70) and do not have prior experience or any particular aptitude for dance or music. This is a lot of fun. Soon we plan to start dancing in public and in the meantime, we like to dance in our living room twice a day. I notice that many couples sign up to prepare for their wedding dance. But this is an enjoyable activity even if your wedding was way back in 1975. We decided to sign up for another five sessions and I imagine that this will just become part of our ongoing lifestyle. After all, most tennis players I know have taken multiple private or group tennis lessons, sometimes for many years. Incidentally, Alyssa had a great idea for an intro to dance. She taught us a 60-second dance routine which we learned over the course of five weeks. There is a lot more to learn as we turn memorized steps into true dancing, but it is an excellent way to start.
Response: Thank you for your kind words, Roger! I’m excited to continue our journey and get you guys out on the dance floor soon!

Cecilia Rodriguez-Lamas: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ValueAlyssa is such a great dance instructor. She was incredibly patient and came up with a whole salsa choreography for our first dance in only 5 sessions. I had some experience salsa dancing but my husband had zero and the dance turned out so amazing all thanks to her.
Response: Thank you, Cecilia- I am so glad that we were able to create an amazing first dance for you both!

Kristina Podesta: We had so much fun learning from Alyssa! Her choreography was the perfect combination of easy to learn and impressive to watch. When we were struggling with something, she was so quick to troubleshoot with us and find an easy solution. It is awesome to feel this confident going into our first dance. Plus it was a fun way to take a break from stressful wedding planning and just do something fun with my fiancé. I would highly recommend!
Response: Thank you, Kristina- I am so glad that our lessons put you both at ease for your first dance, with the added bonus of a weekly date night. Best of luck to you both on your big day, you will do great! :)

alizadeh1234: I always felt I had two left feet on the dance floor. When I met Alyssa, which was almost a week before my wedding, all I could do was step and tap. She gave me a sense of rhythm and taught me a variety of moves which gave me a lot of confidence for dancing. Subsequently, my then fiance and I took two Waltz dance lessons for our first dance. At our wedding reception, we surprised everyone with our first dance, and received lots of compliments afterwards. We danced most of the reception time and I felt very liberated and happy to be able to finally dance. For the first time in my life, I felt I was really dancing and not just prancing around. It was such an amazing feeling, and I'm grateful to Alyssa for making that happen.

Liam Mulcahy: Great instructor. She choreographed and helped us learn a dance for our wedding. She is patient, kind, and funny. 10/10 recommend and would do again.
Response: Thank you, Liam! You and Chelsea were fantastic to work with and I wish you the best of luck for your upcoming wedding!

Dan Flath: On vacation in DC, Laura and I took two west coast swing lessons from Alyssa. They couldn’t have been better. We learned a cool beginning move where Laura crosses in front of me before I dance forward. I had tried moves like this before but never with any success. Not only did Alyssa make it seem easy, but after we got home from the trip we could still dance it. I will schedule a lesson with Alyssa whenever I am in DC.
Response: Thank you for your feedback, Dan! I am so glad to hear that you and Laura were able to take home the moves we practiced :)

Forever Dancing Ballroom: what do users think?

Christine Heppner: I just recently had my renewal of vows and my dad and I wanted to do something special. A neighbor had worked with Forever Dancing for her mother/daughter dance and highly recommended the team. We did five evening lessons which worked so well with our schedules, and we learned different choreography to match the multiple songs I mixed together. I played the track for Fabio during our first rehearsal and he ran with it! We had a great time and everybody could not stop talking about the father/daughter dance! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!!!
Response: We are So Happy to Hear that Everything Went well and it was a joy working with you both. Thank you fir the review.

Kimberlyn Eaton: We began taking group lessons to do something fun together and didn't have any expectations. I have a ballet background and my fiancé had never danced, but our instructor Fabio is amazingly talented at presenting material for all levels of dancers in a single classroom. Since we had so much fun, we decided to do private lessons and choreography for our wedding. Fabio crafted a dance that was comfortably challenging for us, even incorporating steps we learned in group class. We haven't had our wedding yet, but we're sure that even if we misstep or stumble it will all have been worth it because we had so much fun during lessons working with each other and Fabio. Additionally, the studio is a beautiful space with great COVID precautions, a friendly staff, and personal reminders for class. Jennifer and Fabio have a built a business the whole community should give a try!
Response: Thank you Kim! It was a pleasure working with you both. We cannot wait to see your pictures and videos.

Johnny Shryock: My wife Brittany and I have had a fantastic and transformative experience dancing at Forever Dancing Ballroom! We found them at one of their open house events and immediately booked a package of lessons with Fabio for our wedding. Our dance lessons were always a fun break from wedding planning, and we left every dance lesson feeling better than we did when we walked in. It was exciting to learn new moves and choreography at every lesson. At first, we thought the techniques were difficult, but with practice and good coaching, we were able to learn the steps and perform a romantic and fun first dance at our wedding. It was thrilling to do our dance in front of such a supportive and enthusiastic crowd - we absolutely loved the magic moment of our first dance! My wife and I had a casual interest in dancing before we worked on the first dance with Fabio, but since then, we've become hooked and now we take group classes and have continued with private lessons as well. Jennifer Bonini manages the studio classes, billing, private lessons, events, and more. She is friendly, funny, and supportive, and very excellent at keeping everything organized. A talented dancer herself, Jennifer has also shared some excellent dance coaching with us from time to time. Other coaches at the studio are similarly personable and welcoming to all. The entire vibe at Forever Dancing is simply perfect for those looking for an approachable dance studio that will keep you smiling, moving, and have a blast dancing. I highly encourage you to visit Forever Dancing Ballroom as a studio: for wedding first dance lessons, group classes, cool workshops, and a fulfilling way to spend your time!
Response: Thank you Johnny! You and Brittany are simply a pleasure to teach and have the ability to take any challenge to the next level. I am looking forward to see your future in dancing. I am excited about your new dance number at our dance showcase. I know you will do another FUNtastic performance.

Gabriel Glasser: Fabio took us from zero classical dancing experience to nailing our first dance. He gave us clear and honest direction, and constant motivation. I recommend Fabio to any couple!
Response: Thank you Gabriel! It was a pleasure working with you.

Niki Ceo: My son Peter and I had two wonderful dancing lessons with Fabio. Peter's wedding is coming up and I wanted to have some instruction for our dance together. He (Peter) didn't think we needed more than one, but boy he changed his mind after the first one. It was such fun! It was a wonderful experience for the two of us. And Fabio was a Fabulous instructor!. Very patient and encouraging and full of so many great ideas to make our mother/son dance special. Thank you again Fabio. I enjoyed our lessons so much.!!!
Response: Thank you Niki! It was a pleasure working with you. Enjoy your son wedding!

Julie: I am a professional dancer--contemporary dance, improvisation, history, and dance-making. I have taught dance in universities and community schools for many years. I studied ballroom dancing many years ago and had a longing to return to ballroom dancing and learn more. I also wanted to support a local business in the dance community and I have found Forever Dancing Ballroom to be a treasure. Fabio is an amazing and gifted teacher. He is excellent in communicating both the technique and the spirit of each of the dances with passion and depth. Jennifer is attentive and thorough. She has provided great support answering questions and helping me prepare for competition. Fabio and Jennifer are a superior team of educators and are just plain nice people. Dancing is always fun when you get to do it with kind, fun, and awesome people!
Response: Thank you for your review, it is always great to have fun, dedicated students with love for the dance,

Francine Tango: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueAwesome place to learn during this pandemic. They have great instruction and if you do not have a partner , you can learn 6 feet apart from your partner. Everybody wears masks, temperature is taken, shoes changed and lot's of FUN. I feel safe and aquiring a new skill during this pandemic. Thank you Forever Dancing!
Response: We are glad to hear that you felt safe and have fun while learning how to dance.Thank you!

Joseph Smith: Anu was a wonderful instructor!! We took private lessons at Forever Dancing to learn to dance for our wedding. We are new to the world of ballroom dance and Anu took the time to make the experience fun and easy to learn. She taught us how to ballroom dance and put together a choreographed dance routine to wow our friends and family. Would definitely recommend Forever Dancing for any dancing needs!
Response: Thank you for your review, we are so happy that you both had a great experience learning something new and exciting as ballroom dancing with one of our talented instructors at Forever Dancing. Congratulations! And looking forward to seeing some pics of your special day.

Andrew White: I was totally new to salsa dancing and signed up for an 8 week beginner course with Fabio and Jennifer. They did a great job of making the class efficient, educational, and fun. They also gave me at least one piece of individual feedback every single session. I practiced at home 1x/week and I also took a 2nd 8 week class with them before moving out of the area. I would highly recommend dance classes with this business.
Response: Thank You Andrew! You are doing great with your Salsa

Cah Abdalla: We booked 10 classes for our first dance and it was amazing! Our wedding became extremely special with our Brazilian dance. Fabio was awesome and very professional! We strongly recommend it!
Response: Thanks Camila! Congratulations on your great performance. It was great working with you.

Arlington Ballroom: what do users think?

Dynahlee Padilla-Vasquez: Thank you to Mateo for being an amazing dance teacher. We began working with him since November 2021 all the way through March for a 3.11.22 wedding. How fun and personable he has been — as well as understanding of our concerns and personalities. Thank you so much for giving us the tools and confidence to slay our wedding entrance and first dance. You rock, Mateo! Couldn’t have done this without you. -Dynahlee + Joseph

judith Albarelli: For the Albarelli Family Arlington Ballroom is like a second home! We have been dancing with Dmitri and Maria for four years! We both attend group classes and take private lessons. The ballroom is run professionally yet relaxed and fun and we have met such nice people there! We never dreamed that we would enjoy dancing so much but Jennifer and Dmitri have brought out the best in us! Thank you Arlington Ballroom for the confidence you place in us to become competitive dancers! This team of professionals really care about their students!

Eric Cohen: I originally got into dancing because I just moved to the area and was looking for a new hobby. I've been to 3 different ballrooms and 1 dance club. I've taken classes at all of them, but this one is by far my favorite. I started with a private lesson since they have a new student special. I learned the basics of Bachata then moved to the class. It only took me one week to move up to Bachata 2. I've enjoyed it so much that I've started to dance every day and am improving very quickly. The ambience here is fantastic and the instructors are incredible. Jennifer is one of my favorites. She's not only really good at teaching but she's also very entertaining and makes the classes very fun. The director of the studio is one of the best dancers in the country and was even ranked. Their receptionist is also a great conversationalist and it's always a pleasure to dance with her when I have the opportunity. I've been having so much fun here that I've continued my private lessons. Big shoutout to my private instructor, Rabab, who is not only great to dance with but also knows the best dance spots in the area. If you are looking to try dancing for the first time, looking for a new ballroom, or even just want something to do, I highly recommend coming here. It's only $40 for your first lesson and $25 for a single class. If you're unsure, just try it out because you'll likely want to come back.
Response: Eric, thank you so much for your review . We are very lucky to have you at the studio . Your Arlington Ballroom Team

Michael Harvey: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ValueI went here for a date night originally and ended up booking a private lesson package to learn salsa. Great studio and even better instructors. Thanks Jennifer and Dmitri!

Laurence: I just finished my 10th private lesson and will definitely continue. If you’re looking for something new, rewarding, and challenging take up one of the various dances they offer. It is close to metro and the staff has great vibes. I feel like I have learned so much more than just actual dance - like limits to your body’s mobility and proper posture.

Nicole Cuervo: If you want to have fun and learn how to dance, then this is the perfect place. I came in without any dance experience, and took Salsa 1 (now I'm in 2) which taught everything from the beginning including how to place your feet. The classes fly by and Jennifer is a fantastic instructor, so I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking to learn how to dance

Rachel Brown: Mateo was fabulous in helping us prepare for our upcoming wedding! We loved our experience at Arlington Ballroom.

Elmer Alvarenga: The best place to learn your babysteps to latin music and swing..Demetri is the best possible instructor in the DMV area..he and his friendly staff will make u feel at home..and walk you through to become a very good dancer

Peggy Cantfil: Demetri is an excellent instructor. The group lessons are good to it is a great venue to learn to dance.

Jennifer Leider: Experienced staff, safe covid procedures, welcoming environment!

Alexandria Ballroom: what do users think?

Stanislav Gaitskii: It's very very good teachers, the most important thing. I don't know how to dance, but thanks guys now I dance like a God! I recommend to everyone! This is the best school in America

Megan Letterman: I got to check out this studio for a workshop event and loved the studio. t It's really big inside with lots of parking spaces. The floors are amazing and fun to dance on. Teachers are very knowledgeable and bring famous champions almost every month. weather you are an advanced dancer or a beginner I highly recommend Alexandria Ballroom for dance classes.

Maria Kuznetsova: The staff here is fantastic. My fiance and I took five wedding classes two weeks before our wedding and they fit us in their schedule. We had no dancing experience and Jennifer taught us so many easy to remember steps. They were very welcoming and professional ! I highly recommend taking lessons here! Thank you Jennifer.

Tim Miller: This place is great. I've been taking lessons here for about a year and a half and I'm having best time of my life! The staff is great ! They take the time to get to know you and help you in any way they can even if you a tone deaf like me. I love the encouragement I get from the dancers that are clearly have been dancing for much much longer than I have. Occasioanlly one of the instructors play music too loud but the other instructors and management handle it very well. Also it's probably the biggest dance floor in the area and when it's a lot of people there in the evening there's still a place for everyone to practice. would definitely recommend for anyone of any age and skill level to come and give it a try.

Dmitri D: the best ! All ages and all levels. Social and competitive. No partner needed to dance .

Hollywood Ballroom: what do users think?

Cheryl Maynard: 1st time there. My nephew was in town from California so I googled places to do west coast swing in the DC area. He was in heaven! Everyone was friendly and the dance lessons before the dance were easily followed. I believe that I may go back by myself as it was loads of fun!

Nicolas L.: Very clean. Good food and drink. Great staff, including dance instructors. Dancers are very friendly and nice. The music 🎶 is absolutely terrible: inconsistent, very un-inspiring, dull and un-memorable. Such a shame, because in this day, with the present technology that abounds, and the variety and rapidity of new music 🎶 coming out, there is no reason for the low quality of music that seems to plague the Hollywood Ballroom, for these many years. Maybe it's done pm purpose. I truly hope not. My two cents.

Toni Laich: Best place for dance on Friday nights! MadJam Productions! Beginner lessons every Friday.

Graciela Franco: Had my sister’s quinceañera there & it was amazing! Beautiful ballroom, great & friendly staff, & the place is so spacious & clean! 100% recommend

Dennis Tolliver: Nice large maple floor. Lots of parking. Nice people.

Alessandro Ghidini: Great location, spacious ballroom space, safe environment and interactions. My interest is international ballroom, but they have teachers also for American ballroom as well as se non-competitive dances, like salsa, merengue, bachata, night-club, hustle, etc. A great team of trainers, most with background in international and national competitions.

Warren Hall: Covid19 dancing. Good music. Great floor. Limited attendance so call to get on the list for Thursday afternoon.

The Dan Rogul: This is one of the largest (and best) ballroom dance spaces in Maryland and home to some of the largest (and friendliest) reoccurring dance parties in the USA. Their West Coast Swing on Friday nights, Mr. Mambo's dance night, and their ballroom dance parties are among the most attended social events in the country. As such, the skill levels range from brand new beginners to US Open and World Dance champions and everyone in between. Everyone always seems to have a great time, especially when they find people here who are just like them. Hollywood has many of the areas best instructors for different dance styles and dance legends from all over the world come here throughout the year to teach special workshops at reasonable prices to the local dance community. This place is a true Ballroom in size and as such, it is also available for wedding rentals. One of my best friends had her wedding here last year and the space, as well as the employees, were very accommodating. This place also has a very nice and recently renovated bar with good beers (IPAs and quality beers) and wines. It's definitely a good venue to experience for a memorable event.

Lucy J.: An enjoyable place to ballroom dance with good teachers, friendly staff and warm atmosphere.

CINDY EISELE: Friday night is a favorite with West Coast Swing dancers! Lesson included with admission so get there early. beginners learn free on the first Friday of each month! Hundreds of fun dancers.

Dance Studio Lioudmila: what do users think?

Paul Tannous: I have been a regular client at Dance Studio Lioudmila for almost three years, taking both private and group lessons. It is a beautiful facility with a warm, talented staff and a friendly clientele. The studio occupies the entire second floor of a stand-alone brick building in a quiet location with ample free parking, less than five minutes from the beltway. The entry stairs come up into the center of a remarkably large floor that is surrounded with windows and large mirrors, giving it an open, light-filled look. The wooden dance floor is in excellent condition, with great shock absorption and uniformity, and the right level of friction to support all levels of dancing. The founders of the studio, Lioudmila and her husband Serguei, were champion dancers in their native Russia before coming to the U.S. Lioudmila has engaged a cosmopolitan group of instructors with Russian, Italian, American, and Latin backgrounds. All of them are accomplished dancers and many of them compete regularly. Most importantly, they are experienced teachers who are adept at working with students of all levels, making them feel welcome and secure in their classes. The studio offers all forms of smooth, rhythm, and Latin dancing in both group classes and private lessons. It also offers monthly memberships that give you unlimited access to the group lessons and weekly dance parties at a great price. The studio caters to wedding couples as well. I have seen many of them over the past two years, and they always seem to enjoy their lessons. Lioudmila has instilled her studio with elegance and refinement, as well as warmth and laughter. She makes her students feel that they are part of a dance family, where we all support each other. Many of her students are regulars who have been coming for years. Whether you’re just a beginner or an experienced dancer, you should visit this studio. I highly recommend it.

Alexei Markel: Beautiful studio with an excellent complement of talented instructors. The atmosphere is always cozy and friendly. Group classes are perfect for complete beginners or those who just want to add some moves to their repertoire!
Response: Thank you Alexei!

Thomas Maresh: Friendly and welcoming environment for newcomers interested in enjoying a social and active lifestyle. You'll learn all the popular social dances of ballroom and salsa. Even if you feel like you have two left feet and just want to get out of the house and do something fun, you'll find that it's worth it. Plenty of free parking and close to downtown Alexandria.

Jairo V.: Great studio with lots of floor space, a variety of classes ranging from Latin to traditional ballroom, and friendly instructors.
Response: Thank you Jairo!

Meghan May: Maria was awesome! We signed up for the 5 dance package prior to out wedding to get ready for our first dance. We are super uncoordinated and my fiance was really nervous. We ended up having so much fun and feel completely prepared. Would highly recommend and sent the info along to our wedding planner as well so she could make recommendations.

Nicolaus Craig: This is a great facility, with lots of floor space. Group classes are currently in person and online. Private lessons are available in person in studio. From wedding lessons to individual lessons for competition or showcases this studio has highly experienced staff.

Samantha Benjamin: Enzo is pleasant and skilled at teaching. It always helps make things easier when your instructor loves what they do!

Randall Knol: I take lessons from Lioudmila, very professional and elegant teacher with attention to detail for people who want to get better. The floor is large and floats so easy on the feet and knees. The dance community is friendly and helpful. Great place to meet people with the same interests and have fun.

Harold McClendon: My wife and I decided to stop by on a Friday night to practice our ballroom dancing. It was a terrific dance floor and large enough to handle all of the dancing. The recorded music was excellent. And best of all, they let us dance for free.
Response: Thank you Harold!

Damian Bartholomew: I was pleasantly surprised to find an amazing schedule of dance types ongoing all week. Ballroom is the focus and instructors appear to be extremely talented from both the us and international. The classes are perfect for teacher student ratio of roughly 10:1 depending on the day and class. Moreover ask about the monthly special price -an amazing deal to allow open access to classes all month!!! Privates are available and some student are competitors at different levels. During group class there are usually on going private lessons that never seem to interfere. Other random notes... dances are every weekend and they are focused on serving am adult crowd. The music is also diverse allowing for ballroom, targentine ango, and latino styles. In other words it's not just ballroom and it's more than canned syllabus. Certainly a worthy studio to just have fun and learn some simple steps or get serious about your dance. Thanks for reading.

Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Silver Spring: what do users think?

Rachel Grossmann: The staff is amazingly friendly and patient and they have a lot of positive energy. Steve in particular is good at finding specific analogies that the students can relate to. I've improved my dancing so much in the short time I've been there. No other studio in the area that I have found offers nearly as many group classes and practice parties as Arthur Murray.

Yuan Cui: Arthur Murray Silver Spring is such a wonderful place to learn and have fun. Every instructor there is professional, encouraging, and kind. I studied here for 10 weeks over the summer, and I've become a much better dancer by participating in both private lessons, group lessons, and parties. This place is not only a dance studio, but also a heartwarming community, where you can receive and give so much love :) A special shout-out to Taylor and Ivanna for their patience with me in private lessons!

Jessica Oliver: I found a Groupon for Arthur Murray and it was an awesome deal! My (now) husband and I took a couple of private dance lessons a week out from our wedding. We worked with Sydney and she was amazing at teaching us a few steps for our first dance and making us feel a lot more comfortable about it. The classes were also a lot of fun and everyone who works there is extremely friendly and welcoming; I definitely plan on going back again some time! Thank you guys for your help!
Response: Thank you for the review! We love hearing that you had a great time!

Wendy Lukehart: I have been attending the Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Silver Spring for 3+ years and am having an amazing experience. The combination of lessons, group classes, and parties is a wonderful way to learn and practice new dance patterns and then enjoy the fruits of your labor. The teachers break information down into manageable bits and then encourage and lead as you grow in your skill. They couldn't be nicer, and the other students are friendly and kind as well. It's a great place to meet new people, learn a valuable skill, and enjoy the pleasure of moving to music. The studio immediately went virtual during the initial stages of the pandemic, so we didn't miss a beat, and they have taken all the necessary steps to safely re-open in careful stages. Join us--it's so much fun!
Response: Thank you for the glowing review Wendy! We love having you as part of the Arthur Murray Silver Spring Family!!

Megane Muluh: Sydney was amazing. I loved her energy, excitement, and patience. She definitely convinced me and my fiancé to take some more classes for our wedding.
Response: Thanks Megane! We are so happy you joined us!!

Carolyn Olsen: We love the staff and instructors at Arthur Murray, Silver Spring! Everyone is so friendly. The instructors are very skilled and do a great job of customizing our lessons to our abilities and interests. They also have helped us by making videos of parts of our lessons so that we can practice at home. Learning to dance at Arthur Murray, Silver Spring has been lots of fun. The pandemic has been a challenging time. The staff and instructors have done an amazing job of providing a safe environment...masks, hand sanitizing, socially distancing, limiting the number of people, and cleaning. For those who may prefer them, private and group Zoom lessons are available, too.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a glowing review!

Gerri Perry: I can't think of a better way to exercise, meet people and put joy into my life. Ever since I started at Arthur Murray, my experiences have been positive in every way. No only am I doing something for my health, but I am improving my skills in dancing. With each dance I learn, I gain confidence in myself and have more fun at the dance parties. The teachers are all so professional and friendly. I would recommend this studio to anyone who wants to learn to dance and do something good for their bodies at the same time.
Response: Thanks for the great review Gerri! We love having you as part of our Arthur Murray family!

Margaret Anderson: At my request, my husband bought me dance lessons as a Christmas present. We enjoyed a series of group and individual lessons from very professional and fun teachers near our home in Silver Spring. Arthur Murray Dance Studio instructors were fun and relatable that it was absolutely enjoyable. We picked up some good dance steps and like practicing dancing together at home.
Response: Thank you for your great review! It's our privilege to share our love of dancing!

Billy Patterson: If you want to learn to dance and meet new people Arthur Murray Dance Center Silver Spring is where you want to go. I have been going there for several months and the experience continues to be delightful. The facilities are first-rate. The instructors are exceptional and caring and the whole environment is welcoming. The learning experience is comfortable in that you can go to weekly group classes and practice parties to augment your private lessons. There is also a weekly dance where you can put it all together and just have a good time. You can do as little or as much as you like. If you want a comfortable, fun place to learn to dance, join me at Arthur Murray Dance Center Silver Spring.

Sol Lopez: In addition to your private lesson, there are several group lessons offered each week. Group lessons are a great way to meet other dancers and practice in a comfortable and non-judgemental atmosphere. It's easy to form friendships with students of all levels and practice parties are an opportunity you have to put into practice all that you learn in the lessons. Arthur Murray gives you a solid foundation on which you can continue to improve your dance skills.

Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Alexandria: what do users think?

Katelyn Stuver: When I first started at Arthur Murray Alexandria I did as a way to get ready for my wedding. Then it turned into my therapy…Now it has turned into my family! The instructors are super friendly and always want to make their students feel welcomed. I highly suggest AM. If it’s for a wedding, a hobby, something to do..once you start you don’t want to stop.

Nicolaus Craig: This dance studio currently moved to empty space next to their future facilities, but are expected to move into those facilities by the end of April 2022. The staff is very attentive and friendly. All levels of dancers feel welcome and students support each other.

Gregory Surh: While both my wife and I had some experience in the performing arts (my wife is a musician, and I have experience in theater, band, and dance), it was clear we needed some professional help to get our wedding dance where we wanted it to be. Rebecca at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Alexandria, VA, was excellent. She immediately was able to assess our strengths and weaknesses and helped meet us at our respective skill levels. She also listened to our song, and intrinsically knew exactly what kind of look and feel we wanted our dance to achieve. Best of all, rather than teach us a set choreography, Rebecca taught us how to properly lead, follow, and adapt to different dance floor sizes, meaning that every time we danced it ended up looking a little bit different, but also that we would be ready for anything when the actual day came. As our skill and comfort level improved, and we wanted to add a few more steps and moves into our routine, she not only incorporated more advanced training into our classes, she went out of her way to work with her studio for us to keep a “new student discount rate” for a few more classes when we asked for it (we had originally signed up for 6 lessons as opposed to 10 lessons, but she worked to keep the rate for an additional 3 lessons upon our request to give us the additional time needed). The first dance can be a stressful thing to think about prior to the wedding, but Rebecca helped us through our nerves and stumbles during practice. The day of the wedding, my wife and I walked into the reception with confidence and comfort, and not only had a lot of fun with our dance, but also looked really good doing it, at least according to our guests! None of this would have been possible with Rebecca’s skill, patience, and excellent ability to teach both how to lead and how to follow…thank you!

CStyle: The staff is Fantastic and fun to be around. They welcome you without judgement and teach you at your own pace. It's easy to get on the dance floor and act a fool. But to dance in synch is what they teach best. My Fiancée and I are just about ready for our beautiful 1st dance. Thanks Trent and the entire Staff of Arthur Murray Dance Studio. We will always be a fan .

kEN cROUSE: My wife and I have been taking lessons at the studio in Alexandria for about four years now. I had resisted taking lessons for so many years but finally decided to take the plunge. The instructors are patient and professional. When you purchase your private lessons there are group lessons available at no additional charge and there are, prior to COVID, weekly dances. The instructors are available to dance with along with other students. The total package is worth the price, if you want to learn to dance, make a new circle of friends, and have a place to go dance and be with those friends then this is the place to be.

Ryan Henderson: I’ve been attending Arthur Murray for over a year now. I appreciate their flexibility in scheduling and the protective measures they’ve taken to keep students safe and healthy during these crazy times. They’re a great, diverse, and talented crew willing to help you learn advanced styles and moves or simply be more comfortable on the dance floor. I highly recommend regardless of your skill or comfort level!

Emily Cooley: I came into Arthur Murray Alexandria from a Groupon over 3 years ago and it has honestly changed my life. I’ve always loved dancing at clubs or with friends, but it never occurred to me that I could learn how to actually dance, until I stepped foot into their studio. The instructors are amazing and truly tailor their lessons to each individual’s goal, whether it be just to learn to social dancing or even compete in amateur competitions. The group classes are challenging and fun no matter what level you are at, and the people there are warm and welcoming. I have grown such an amazing dance family there over the last 3 years, and even through challenging times with Covid, the studio and its staff have adapted to meet all safety guidelines and still make dance just as fun as ever. They have social distanced lessons, group classes, and social hours in studio as well as being able to participate in all of those through zoom. To anyone who is thinking of learning how to dance, all I can say is YOU CAN DO IT, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to try.

Michael Niner: Amazing! I was initially apprehensive because I've always been very self conscious about dancing. The staff was/is very supportive, and not just that superficial cheer from the HS gym teacher, they sincerely support the students and create a judgement free environment for all to learn. Chynna is phenomenal, she is extremely patient (even with my Goober a**) but gently pushes you forward even if you have doubts you're ready. My first event was in August, I did just 2 dances , but when i did i wasn't concerned with ANYONE IN THE ROOM. Well worth the $ and time! Micahel Niner has spoken.....

johnny tech: Arthur Murray Dance Centers are not just a place to learn to dance. It is a community in an of it self. You not only learn to waltz and cha cha, you build friendships with your instructors who are always challenging you to do your best. You build confidence in yourself and your partner. You will learn to move your body in ways you did not think were possible. There are also the friendships you build with your fellow students. You can count on them to encourage you and build you up.

Elena Yakovleva: I’ve always wanted to learn how to dance, but was afraid to start. After turning forty I decided if not now then when? I chose this place based on reviews and I’m absolutely loving it! The staff is very welcoming, they make you feel safe and supported! I love the idea of having private lessons and also access to all their group classes as well! Can’t recommend them enough!
Response: We are so happy you decided to give dancing a try and that you're having such a great time! Thank you for giving Arthur Murray Alexandria the chance to show you how fun and easy learning dance can be! =D

Our First Wedding Dance: what do users think?

Kathy Howe: Coming from two people that would literally panic over the idea of dancing, we finally feel comfortable to do so after the help from Nadege. Just after the very first lesson we learned so much. Nadege is patient, fun and very professional. I highly recommend scheduling your one on one lessons with her. Thanks again for all of your help, we're going to miss coming to your classes!
Response: Thanks Kathy! It was a pleasure knowing and helping both of you. Keep in touch

Brendan Lyons: Nadege is very good at what she does. She provided us with lots of suggestions as we were building a choreography. She'salso the most patient teacher ever! My wife is a lot better dancer than I am, but Nadege's patience at every step of the way was very reassuring. Highly recommended!

Tyson's Ballroom & DanceSport Center: what do users think?

Rokeby Farm: I had a wonderful experience with Falls Church Dance Spot. My Dad and I came here for dance lessons to practice our first dance for my August wedding. We had a lot of fun and learned a great choreographed dance that impressed our wedding guests. I would definitely recommend this location to people interested in becoming more comfortable with their dance moves or if they're preparing for a special event.

Richard Cornell: Our father daughter dance was the absolute hit at the wedding reception, and all the talk at breakfast the next morning. I wasn't much of a dancer and a bit awkward to learn at 54, but in just 6 lessons, Garry had us ready to go like it was Dancing with the Stars. We picked a 5 song medley, and Garry choreographed the whole thing with different and unique dance moves for each song. Our dance was a big success and a heck of a lot of fun! Thank you Garry for leading and teaching us and making it easy!

Tala Soufi: My teenage daughter dances here, and it is the best decision I’ve ever made. The staff is very friendly and caring, and they are all very skilled in ballroom and Latin dance. If you’re looking for a great dance studio, this is the place.
Response: Thank you, Tala!

Chandra Swope: Wonderful place to learn to dance for beginners and experienced dancers alike. The professional instructors are talented and friendly. One of the only studios that offers group ballroom classes in the International style.
Response: Thank you Chandra!

Rachael Osborne: Great dance studio! They have good practice rates and their teachers are very welcoming. Would recommend!

Nina Sahouri-Ghannam: My husband & I took dance classes here & learned more in one night then 20 classes elsewhere over a year! The new dance teachers from South Africa (Tatiana & her husband) Were so patient and helpful. There was a very small ratio and we had a wonderful time. I can’t believe I had not heard about this place earlier!

Ellen Barbieri: I took my grandson with me and he's a wonderful dancer and made me feel much better about being a beginner! Great staff and atmosphere. Thank you.

Nancy Smith: I’m a visiting student from Jersey and periodically go to the studio when I am in the area. I have had great lessons there!
Response: Thank you Nancy!

The Salsa With Silvia Dance Studio: what do users think?

Kat Cap: Was visiting DC for the weekend & felt like I wanted to do something else instead of museums and found Silvia's event on Eventbrite for their first ever Saturday morning Yoga & Salsa Social Dancing event! One can either choose to do just the yoga, or social OR best of both worlds! I had a flowy strengthening fun yoga class with Anya & enjoyed DJ Aldo's amazing music & dancing! I've started learning a bit of salsa on 2 and despite them being a salsa on 1 studio, they welcomed me so kindly! We all enjoyed dancing with each other, had met such fantabulous people with great vibes! I recommend this studio so0o much! I can only imagine how awesome their regular classes are!
Response: Omg, Kat, thank you SO much for the super kind words! This was the first time we tried this format and we’ll only be getting better! So glad you stopped by and we hope to see you again soon. We also offer classes on 2. Cheers, Silvia

Summer Brouwer: There’s a reason why they have 5 stars! I never had the luxury of attending dance classes. I just moved here cross country and wanted to try a new experience. I was very hesitant, and very nervous, but I bought the new student pass for $100. The pass allows you to attend unlimited group classes for the month. It’s about a week into the session and I am in love with dance! They have many different instructors and many different styles of dance. I felt at ease learning with other students of my skill level and the energy of my instructors helped me feel so comfortable as well. If you’re on the fence about whether you want to try it or not, GET OVER IT! I love it here and you will too!
Response: Wow, Summer! I have tears in my eyes after reading your review! It makes it all worth the hard work! Thank you so much! We are here to show people that dance heals and helps physically and emotionally. We are so happy you love dance now! Silvia

Reema Bhardwaj: Salsa with Silvia is THE PLACE TO BE. Whether you’re looking to improve your dancing, rent their beautiful studio for your private event, or bring your kids for an experience. You will leave feeling satisfied and happy that you took the step to come in. There is a reason this studio is the #1 Latin Dance studio in the DMV. You can feel the love that was put into the studio from starting out in just a basement to two studios! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The teachers are patient, understanding, and energetic. The adult dance classes are always so much fun and filled with great material you can take with you. They even allow videos to be taken so you can look back to review. And the owner Silvia, she is a boss lady. Very friendly, helpful, and fun. If you’re looking to have a great time with your friends, learn, teach your children dance, or have a private event, come here & don’t waste your time calling other studios!
Response: Much 💗 for you! Thank you so much for your support!

Margaret Houck: I have been taking classes at Salsa with Silvia for about 6 months now and I'm nothing but grateful for everything this studio has brought me! When I started I was recently out of college, new to DC, had zero dance background, and was nervous to be putting myself out there. But there was no need to be nervous because everyone at the studio provided such a welcoming, comforting, safe environment for me to learn and explore my new love for dancing. I've taken classes with multiple different instructors at SWS and have truly enjoyed them all! I tend to go to Joffre's classes multiple times per week and absolutely love them. He and his assistant, Keelin, provide such a fun, safe environment for everyone to learn and challenge themselves. I always feel welcomed in their space and am so thankful for all of the great experiences that they and everyone at SWS have given me. Can't wait to keep learning new moves, making new friends, and connecting with the salsa community through SWS :)
Response: Thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot!

Zey: Salsa with Silvia is more than a dance studio. Lots of magic happens there. You’ve got all the basics- amazing instructors, good variety of classes in style and level, a professional business, and a safe and reliable environment. In addition, you learn how dancing is about much more than just moving your body. By joining the studio you enter a community, so you meet amazing people and make new friends. The owner Silvia is always engaged and she is always willing to help. I have been going to the studio for about 2 years now, and the instructor I have taken the most number of classes with is Joffre. I always had a thing for salsa, but he is the one who really made me love it. Joffre is technically very competent, and he is also a great teacher (which is not always a given). He is also a warm and genuine person, who is very open to feedback. And as a bonus, he has the best taste in music, I learned the best songs/ artists I know from him. In short, if you are interested in entering the world of latin dancing, SWS is the place for you!
Response: Wow! ❤️ Thank you! We love our students so much! So happy that you are part of our community! People like you are the reason for us to fight and survive last year! Thank you!

Marcia de Jesus: I joined Salsa with Silvia in its Georgia Avenue location in January of 2018. During the first 5-6 months of 2018, I was at the studio pretty much every weeknight and all day on Saturday. The studio offers an unlimited-class plan, and you bet I signed up for that and took full advantage of it. My plan of taking as many classes as possible in a short amount of time to improve my dancing skills fast was one of the reasons why I was at the studio all the time when I first joined. The other reason was the people I found there – and they are the reason I keep going to this day. Incredible human beings have worked at SWS over the years, who have helped me feel comfortable as I engaged in a new and at times challenging activity. Among the front-office people, I must give a shout out to Gary. For a long time, he was the face of SWS for me, the person I reached out to if I needed anything. I miss you at the Georgia Avenue location! Among the instructors, I’m sorry for picking favorites (all instructors are great in their own way), but Joffre has always been my guy. Not only is Joffre a very good dancer, but he is also an excellent instructor. He knows how to break down and explain the moves (including teaching how to respect personal space and make sure nobody gets hurt while executing moves); he meets the students where they are (skill-wise) so nobody feels discouraged nor bored; and he tries to make sure everyone is having fun as they work on their dance skills. I felt challenged in Joffre’s classes, but also reassured whenever things got difficult and potentially frustrating. He has certainly helped me become a better dancer and I am grateful for that! Finally, SWS is the place where I found a safe, fun, open community and made very good friends. SWS has become a part of my life, a place I associate with happy things!
Response: Thank you so much Marcia! Your kind words are greatly appreciated.

Nikki Mammano: Finally after some time, I feel ready to write this review. I took Silvia's salsa teacher training course back in 2019 with an excitement to take my dancing to the next level. I have been dancing salsa since 2014 and I wasn't sure if I wanted to actually take the next leap and teach yet, but I was curious to start building a teacher foundation. After the experience however, I realized it was a mistake. And now, I cannot recommend this studio. The course itself I think was the first time Silvia and David were hosting it, it was extremely disorganized and not thought out. Some of the material was okay, but they threw so much at us in a short amount of time (7 weeks) and expected us to be experts by the end without any support. Silvia is also one of the coldest and most unsupportive people I have ever met. For the last class, she told us we were having a "test." I remember the week before I asked her who we would be teaching and how I should prepare, she did not give me very much information. When I walked in the week, I expected we would be teaching the other trainees like we were the 6 weeks prior. Nope. She threw actual student volunteers at us without informing us or letting us prepare. For me, it was very nerve-racking. She placed me to go last and by the time it was my turn, there were more students in my class than the trainees before me, which made the experience even worse. During our feedback session at the end, with both her and David, Silvia looked me cold in the face and told me I was too insecure to be a teacher. Mind you, I paid a lot of $$$ to take this "teacher training," just to be torn down as a dancer. I suggest Silvia does NOT host a teacher training again. Also, there is a lot of great dancing in DC. While you can learn some great foundations here and some of the teachers are wonderful, I do suggest looking elsewhere to become an advanced dancer.
Response: Thank you for the honest, review Nikki. I apologize if we've hurt you in any way. Teaching indeed is nerve wracking any way you look at it so it takes a certain personality to be able to be a good teacher. Teachers are always presented with difficult situations and they have to know how to handle them whether they are ready or not. Part of the training was a personality test to see if people can handle situations like that. The goal of the training was to provide the knowledge as to where the information was, the rest was on the trainees to study and prepare. As with all other trainings. You are completely entitled to your opinion of course and again, I apologize. Most of the trainees ended up teaching classes at the studio and that's the only negative review we've received. My advise would be if you really want to be a teacher, you should keep trying and working at it because it takes really hard work and it's mostly on you, not so much on the training, anywhere you get it. I, for example have never had a formal training but I've worked incredibly hard on studying, preparing and practicing so I can be ready to teach. Cold is something I haven't been called just yet but if that's what you think of me, I cannot argue. Hundreds of our students may disagree with you and I am always open to meet and talk to any of them, which is how I built the largest Latin dance studio in the DMV. Again, best of luck Nikki and I am sorry it didn't work out. Regards, Silvia

Darniesha Beach: Took my 2 year old to the babies dance class and the teacher was great. Very good with little ones and my daughter took to her immediately. The class was empty just 2 little ones including mine... but she still managed to fill the time and make it fun. Everything was very clean and location is nice if you want to make a day of it. My only complaint is the time; my daughter has to skip a nap to attend. She was super cranky so I don’t think we’ll be back until a different time slot is available or she no longer needs her afternoon nap. A class between 9&12 or at 5 would be cool.
Response: Thank you 💗 what time would work for you?

Caoilfhionn Roche: I am a former student of Mario, Joffre, and Cat's classes, and Joffre's current dance partner and assistant of 2 years now. The Salsa with Silvia studio has been my home for 2 years, as it has been home to many others. Particularly considering the global pandemic that we have collectively gone through, I think that one of the greatest lessons the last year has taught us is that we are social beings, and we need community, which is what the studio has brought to everyone that has walked through the doors. I have spent majority of my weeks over the last 2 years at this studio - truly nonstop - and I have never felt anything other than respect, care, and professionalism from Silvia as a studio owner and Joffre as an instructor and partner. His classes and teams are a joyful, fun, safe space, where I, among others have learned and laughed together. I have continuously heard from people how Joffre's classes and practices are the highlights of their days (and mine as well). Through a global pandemic and beyond it, Joffre has been a constant for his classes and teams, always respectful and responsible, cultivating a safe space for people to come, from wherever someone's day is bringing them, and be their authentic selves. This has created nothing but a community filled with honest, kind, caring people, that I have encountered. This has been my continuous experience with SWS over the last 2 years. The bottom line is: Silvia, Joffre, and the entire SWS community is a wonderful place to be, and I truly encourage you to come and see and feel it for yourself. - Keelin
Response: Thank you, Keelin!

Mia H: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueTook a private salsa lesson for 2 and it was AMAZING! Joffre was so kind and knowledgeable that he made learning to dance easy! Perfect for if you're looking to try something new or for a date night!
Response: Thank you so much, Mia! We are so glad you loved the lesson.

DC DanceSport Academy: what do users think?

Alina Trifonova: I am very pleased with the Dance Sport Academy services. My 3 y.o. daughter is taking baby ballet classes with Ms. Vera, who is exceptional in professionalism and communicating with small kids. Her lessons are diversified in the types of activities and movements and geared towards accommodating the needs of the little ones, introducing them to the world of dance and music. Great experience! If you have an active toddler, I strongly recommend classes with the DC DanceSport Academy, and especially with Ms. Vera!

Rachael Osborne: Lydia's studio is fantastic! The coaches are very talented and she offers a wide variety of group classes. I've been going to her studio for years and the classes are always fun and exciting!
Response: Thank you, Rachel! We are lucky to have the best and most dedicated students. You are our motivation and inspiration! ❤️

Sophia Jones: This studio provides some of the highest quality dance training I have ever experienced due to the expert instruction. I have trained with Lydia for many years and cannot wait to come back to classes in person! Highly recommend to anyone interested in trying ballroom or looking to advance their practice.

Monique Kramer: I absolutely LOVE this dance studio!! The group classes and instructors are top quality. Lydia, the owner, is friendly, cheerful, positive, and very patient. She is always bringing new ideas to the studio via workshops, guest instructors, special events, and show cases. Katie and the rest of the staff are always pleasant. I wish I could spend my entire day here!!

JUDY JAMES: DC DanceSport Academy provides quality instruction to all levels of dancers in a lovely and professional studio. Highly recommend this studio for all those wanting to learn to dance, regardless of age and dance experience, but especially for the serious dancers who are involved in competing and performing. Lydia organizes several elite workshops, and dance camps a year for both adult students and for her much younger students, and brings in the best world champions to teach at these workshops. The group classes offered are exceptional, ranging from basic technique classes to more advanced master classes, and practice rounds. Lydia is an amazing, encouraging, enthusiastic, technical, and talented teacher, and what I love most about Lydia, is that she never stops learning and growing as an instructor. Whether it’s a private lesson with Lydia, or participating in a group class, watching Lydia’s body movements, and her flair for styling, is inspirational for me. As a woman, learning from a woman is equally important for me. Lydia will make you feel beautiful and special, while inspiring you to move your body in ways you never thought possible.

Ksenia Peguero: Best dance studio I've ever been a part of. The instructors are top-notch, teaching lots of technique and fun moves in advanced classes. The students make a great community, it's always a pleasure to practice together with strong dances. The studio itself is beautiful, has gorgeous space, really nice floor, two walls of mirrors, and no columns! I've been dancing here since the studio opened, and it's a pleasure to see how it grows.

Denitsa R: I can't say enough good things about the studio, the coaches, the owner, the staff, and the quality of training. Truly superb experience all around! From a nice, clean studio with the highest quality dance floor, to courteous and friendly staff, to a variety of the best coaches in the world. You can expect to see world champions from any style, age, and background teaching here on a regular basis. And, if you truly want to learn how to dance and dance your best for any occasion, then you have to come to DCDA. You will be well taken care of from the very first second, and you will find a second home in this studio. Whether you are a competitor or are just looking to prepare for a social event (or wedding), give Lydia and her team a try. You won't regret it!

bob Hsieh: The very best of learning experience with a world class instructors. Additional visits for seminars by other world class dancers. I feel lucky and happy to be part of Lydia’s teaching world. My fellow students all love her and the teaching we get.

Denis Babichenko: My children have attended classes at the DC DanceSport Academy for years now. The classes are intense and instructors are demanding, but, because of that, my children's growth as dancers is absolutely tremendous. More importantly, they really enjoy dancing and look forward to advancing their skills by learning new and challenging routines.

Uttara Vaidya: The place to live and breathe dancing. Lydia's training is amazing, starting from group classes that gives helpful information for all levels (intermediate to pro) in a way that is easy to absorb to private training that has help us grow tremendously in our dancing as professionals.

The Dance Institute of Washington: what do users think?

Cheri Mallory: We have had a wonderful experience with DIW's Autism Acceptance Events.

Angela Ingram: Excellent Dance Training and excellent community for dances to train. DIW cares deeply for their students, faculty and staff.

Daisy Fischer: Positive: ProfessionalismMy Grandson participated in the virtual Theater Workshop on October 3rd, 2020, and he had so much fun. The ladies of Teatro La Bolsa did an excellent job of keeping the students engaged while they provided education in language, culture, dance and geography. Thank you.

Cassie Quick: I don't recommend this school as they are really unorganized. It takes weeks to follow up with parents about questions or concerns. It's pretty ridiculous. I recommend they hire additional help.
Response: Hello, Ms Quick. We are sorry to learn about your experience. As a non for profit organization our number one priority is to have the best positive impact in our youth. Of course we can’t do this without the support of parents and guardians and we apologize for the inconvenience. We would like to share that during the summer of 2019 DIW experienced multiple staff transitions and also began exciting renovation in which we are adding a new studio and student lab to our state of the art building. Although no excuse, please consider these major occurrences as a reason to why our line of communication failed you. Again, we apologize and hope you reconsider our school in the future as we have major exciting changes and upgrades in process. All best!

Zahra Carpenter: Very good quality of dance classes. Although the founder passed away, it is in the staff and teachers heart to carrying on his legacy. Cannot wait what is next for DIW!

Star Clark: I take lessons here sometimes. It's wonderful and cheap. Say hello to Lettie and Mara. Great instructors!

Noelle Hoerrner: I love to dance and the young dancers out there in Washington D.C. I think they have an opetunity here!

claudia Moreno: If it was possible to give less than one star i would. this place is beyond unprofessional and you will get tossed around from person to person trying to get basic information. horrible. horrible. absolutely horrible. customer service is absurd.

Cheryle Crawford: Great teacher for younger " bun heads", continues to use ZOOM classes effectively.

Peter Perkins: Interested in developing skills I'll highly recommend attending The Dance Institute of Washington also I much say many opportunities are available.
