Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Brent Nussbaum: I now know first hand why Conte’s was chosen as America’s #1 bike shop by NBDA. After attempting to work with several other bike shops in NOVA, the Falls Church Conte’s team was the only shop that invested in me as a customer and went out of their way to work with a bike manufacturer they didn’t even have a contract with at the time. The provided with with updates on their efforts and eventually successfully helped me with getting this beautiful new frame. They communicated the shipping details, checked in during the wait time and notified me the day it arrived to the shop where I was able to inspect it right away. I easily scheduled the frame swap and they finished the swap in the same day that I took the old frame in. I couldn’t be happier with this experience and the service they provided me. I now look forward to riding with the shop during their group rides. I highly recommend Conte’s if you’re considering a new purchase or in need of bike maintenance.

James Watson (Jimmy): I go there to get my bike fixed and they always do a great job. Keon is always extremely helpful and tells me what’s needed, he assist me in the most professional manner and does great work on my bicycle. Their music selection is just as good as the service. Thank you to the staff at this shop, every experience I have is a great experience!

Mike Crockett: Great experience overall. The folks working here are honest, hard-working and helpful. I just needed a tune-up on my bike and looking online I decided I needed the Annual Service. After going in and talking to one of the employees, he actually told me it was unnecessary based on how good the condition the bike was still in, so I opted for the less-expensive Semi-Annual Service. In addition, they got the bike serviced two days ahead of schedule. These are good people who actually prioritize customer needs instead of making a quick buck. Highly recommend

Reda ABOUTAJDINE: I was already using their outside installed pump, which allows customers to access it even when the shop is closed, so I already had a good opinion, but my experience replacing an air chamber further convinced me. Great service, I especially appreciated pricing the transparency (I was given an estimate beforehand). Overall, very helpful and polite staff.

Chris Marker: Stopped in on a whim because I was riding down Q st and I needed some chain lube. In the process of showing me how to properly lubricate the chain, the mechanic discovered that my back wheel was (badly) off kilter and was able to get it quickly fixed while I went and got some lunch. Fantastic service!

Estelle Dauchy: I love this shop and I feel so glad that they are conveniently located, not far from Dupont or Logan. I was helped by Emily, who is super knowledgeable and professional. She obviously knows the variety of bikes and their features, and asks the needed questions to assess how we relate to our bike, in order to provide the best and most fitting advice. This is my second nike bought at Conde (with the store service warranty). My first bike was unfortunately stolen after 8 months. Emily helped me find my new bike and advise me on the best way to protect it from theft. The whole Conde team is very professional, and helped me add the additional parts that I needed on my new bike. I highly recommend the Conde store.

Bicycle Pro Shop: what do users think?

Mike Jones: Long time quality shop in DC, been going there since 1996 when I was a bike messenger and racer. Stopped in today to get some new cleats, and grabbed some energy gels, new gloves, and got a great deal on some aero water bottles from the manager Garrett. Got everything I needed for upcoming race quickly and with friendly helpful service. Thanks a lot!!

Humberto Murati: Last Saturday stopped by the shop to get the front tyre fixed. After a couple of miles the front tubeless Schwalbe had a pinched. Job was done perfectly. I was able to ride back to Old Town Alexandria, confident that the tyre will not be an issue. Thanks guys for the awesome friendly customer service and the great job fixing the tyre. Humberto Murati Owner Murati Titanium Bicycles LLC #muratibicycles

Michael Kelly: Bought from Giants website, shipped to the store and they were the most professional and courteous staff. Bike was built and ready to ride the next day. I would highly recommend getting a bike here, staff was knowledgeable and were extremely professional.

OSCAR CLONINGER: Technician Will White rocks! Friendly and didn’t lord over me with his knowledge. Don’ know about the other team members but I would go back and pay for Will’s help anyway! FYI: in and out in a jiff when I dropped my bike of: the shop wasn’t super busy when I dropped my bike off!

Alan Raeder: I stopped in the shop this past summer needing a specific chain tensioner for my single speed and Dave went above a beyond to get me set up with one. I was taking a rest day in the middle of a bike tour and working on fixing a few things on my bike. I visited/called more than 8 shops with no luck. I met Dave at Bicycle Pro Shop and after learning the shop did not have the part, he mentioned he had a used one at home. Later that evening, Dave met up with me and I got the part I needed to keep going the next day as planned. Really helpful and appreciated!

Andrew Moore: Absolutely great service from Garrett here. I’d been having an ongoing issue that another shop wasn’t able to identify or fix. It took Garrett minutes to figure it out and the bike is 100% again. Highly recommend.

fgjewett: Best shop in the DC area, I bought a road bike and had such a good experience that I bought a mountain bike there too. The staff are easygoing and knowledgeable; they are a great shop for the mid-to-High end merchandise. They’re not snobby or elitist like other high end places can be. Every purchase comes with a free fitting, which is a $100 value. They also provided free adjustments for a year which was great.

Jimmy Russell: We love the customer service very informative upfront and honest. Very impressed with the bike feels good rides smooth and good. Very light for a Hybrid Bicycle.

Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Sergey Zvezdov: Fantastic place, people and service! I am so happy that I got this place recommended for my cycling needs. I have a very specific and not common bike fitting requirement. Team handled it super well, easy and with great amount of details. I like professionalism of the team and easy communication. Since the fitting, 2 more bike maintenance requests were handled by the team. This is my place to go now in greater Charlotte area, even though I am far away from them. Thank you Conte team and special thanks to Andrew Lerner!

John Willis: Good honest people always willing to help. My partner and I have a couple of e-bikes and Conte’s has been a fantastic maintenance hub over the last year. They keep you riding year round. Kudos Conte’s, you’ve earned a loyal customer.

Darrel Perez: Went in for a quick "squeak-out" treatment on the brake discs and they came out serviced like new and in less than 15 minutes for a moderate price. All the staff is professional, knowledgeable, and friendly but Scott is the best, he provides timely service and complete information on the work performed and maintenance tips to keep your bike tuned up and road-ready. Thank you guys!

Angela Fogg: Excellent customer service. We went to get a bike repaired and they helped us find an e-bike that was a better fit. Everyone was helpful and no one was pushy. We walked around the store for a while at our own pace and asked questions many questions. Like I said great service.

Shawn “I_DRINK_MY_JUICE” D: I don’t normally do reviews unless I had a bad experience somewhere but Liz that took care of my bike fitting @ Conte at the Navy Yard location was the absolute bomb. Not only was she the bomb but everybody in the store was great!! The Arlington Va store was great and now great service @ the Navy Yard location. Couldn’t ask for more!!!

Jordanb Barrera: Great service while I was there to fix my bike. Got a new tube installed and Jack (the person that was helping me out) was great, fast service and did a great job too. Would definitely recommend going to Conte’s Bike Shop.

Joseph Smith: This is the most incredible bike shop ever because of the staff and service that they provide. They are welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, laid-back and no pressure and patience the whole time Whether you’re the only person in the store or one of a dozen. The experience in this Bike Shop is truly Phenomenal..I thought that the pricing It’s probably the best in town. I’m sorry that I can’t remember everyone’s names but I stress remember Brian , Semba and Brian , especially ( Sorry I can’t remember other names )

City Bikes Adams Morgan: what do users think?

Lee Jones: Went here today for what I thought was going to be an expensive replacement of my gears/cables. The tech Esteban was AMAZING. He knew exactly what to do and fixed it super fast and figured I didn’t need expensive replacement at all. Really great experience all around and would definitely recommend! Also appreciate how friendly they.

Lewis Preston: I commuted by bike for many years, year round. Regular maintenance at City Bikes has kept my bike in great working order, helped me get around reliably, and helped me get a ton of use out of the same bike. The mechanic is great and very efficient!

Spencer Barks: Esteban was knowledgeable, kind and easy to talk to. I came in after hours and he helped me get everything on my bike squared away in an efficient and timely manner. Really appreciated his help especially when they were scheduled to close.

Jennie Boocock: Great service! I came in today for a hand-me-down bike to get checked out. Esteban was so helpful and attentive, taking time between projects to help me out and answer my questions. Will definitely choose this spot for all future bike needs!

John Kostyack: These folks always do a great job helping me keep my bike running smoothly. Mark, in particular, is really knowledgeable and friendly. Reasonable prices.

Paul Challan: I had a tricky issue with my chain ring and took it in to City Bikes. Estaben and Mark were able to take care of me right away. They were friendly, and knowledgeable and were able to get it fixed right away so that I could get back on more ride in the beautiful weather. Thanks guys!

Simone: After having a lot of difficulty with the gears on my bicycle, I decided to give City Bikes in AdMo a try, and I am so glad I did! Esteban was able to help me with my issue in what felt like 5 minutes flat. Not only was he extremely helpful and approachable, but he also made sure to refresh my tires at the end of the visit. Would definitely recommend Esteban and CityBikes!

John Gracely: Visited the shop to have a headset/fork installed (crown race put on, integrated bearings dropped in, steerer tube cut). Was quoted a price from tenley town location then quoted three times that amount by the Adams Morgan location. And was told it was complicated and would take a few days. Offered to simplify it for them and just have crown race put on and steerer tube cut. They agreed to that and it could be done by the next day for the same 3x original quote price. Ultimately ended up canceling the service and just did it myself at home as the price being requested was comparable to the cost of the tools needed to complete it. I appreciate their flexibility in letting me cancel my service request. I’m sure they would have done a fine job as it’s ~ 20 minutes of work with the correct tools and not complicated. Weirded out by the inconsistent service pricing between locations as It seemed it was just being made up on the spot. Mechanic was arrogant when I asked about that and just cited “specialized bike tools” Would definitely return to get the odd tube or cable but their service prices at least for the Adams Morgan location are pretty steep and staff could try to be less arrogant.

The Daily Rider: what do users think?

Saints Finders: Awesome service. Got my bike working like new within the same day. Also completed safety checks and offered recommendations. Fair pricing.

Sam Goldgeier: This is a great bike shop to purchase a new bike or have your bike repaired. They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to deal with!

Gregory Higgins: Great bike shop. They have done tune-ups and repairs repairs to my bike multiple times. They also fix baby stroller wheels/tires!

Mark Sussman: .The Daily Rider has always given me A+ service ever since I became a customer 7 years ago (when I bought my Spot Ajax). Most recently, I needed a double kickstand for my bike in preparation for carrying my daughter on my bike. Not only did The Daily Rider give me an excellent recommendation based on my needs, they installed the part based on my scheduled appointment time and at the exact quoted price. I cannot recommend the Daily Rider enough!

Karen Ramsey: I picked a bad replacement seat. They heard about it, researched saddles that would be a better fit for me, let me try them out, handled a return, and installed the new new saddle. Always prompt, polite & helpful and staff never make a casual but daily rider feel like they don’t know enough about bikes as other shops have. That’s why I go back & encourage others to shop there, too.

BicycleSPACE- Ivy City: what do users think?

Alex Martin: Leave it up to the wonderful people of Washington DC to complain about “rude” behavior. Maybe like one dude in the back was a douche but at least he was an honest douche. If you appreciate radical honesty then this place is worth a visit. Also Justin new kid training had great insight to give when it came to my curiosity about fixed bikes. Last but not least the owner made absolute sure my bike fit my body size, far more than the competition ever did. Will send people to this location for sure.

Louise Pocock: I’ll preface by saying I’m not a bike head but went to this shop in my neighborhood after moving to DC because I wanted to make biking my primary mode of transport. These guys spent hours listening to what kind of bike I wanted and how I planned to used it and explained all my options and answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly. I not only bought a bike but learned a lot about bikes and how to take care of them. They got me set up with all the practical locks/lights/fenders etc for a very reasonable price. When I wrecked they fixed it right away and for free (no replacement part needed, just my fenders reattached). I have been back several times for other little things and they always help me right away and keep me riding. I love my bike shop!

Mike Carr: Many bike shops are plagued with pretentious staff. This is NOT the case at Bicycle Space. The employees are all super friendly and helpful. As an added bonus their location in Ivy City is easy to get to from most parts of DC and there is almost always easy parking right out front. This shop also sponsors many fun bicycle events in the area, such as the Saturday Cupcake Ramble lead by Lionel!

Jessica Long: I was in the market for a new bike for commuting and racing as I start to get into triathlon training. The staff there was very engaging, kind, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend it!

Nick Webster: BicyleSPACE is a wonderful, friendly, downtown bike shop. I stopped in to look around and a knowledgeable staff member took the time to show me around in a no pressure manner. When I am in the market for a new set of wheels, I will be in.

Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Jeremiah Johnson: My bike is literally better after having had it serviced in Cathedral Heights Conte than when I got it directly from the factory. The store manager and Noah were extremely helpful and patient. They are customer service centered bike experts.

Fred: Wonderful service… Joe and the team are true professionals. Prompt, efficient, and very courteous - they kept me posted on the status of a repair and stayed open late so I could pick up. Best bike shop in DC hands down!

Justin Miller: I bought my son’s birthday bike here. The team was very helpful and supportive. Great communication, no ego, and patient. The mechanics added customizations that I requested, and had the bike ready for me a day later. My son was so happy with his new bike. Can’t praise or thank Conte Tenley enough. And for dad, I saw a bunch of great gear I want to add to my kit, so we’ll see you again soon!

Hope Neyer: Had a great experience with a quick trip through Contes today. Both of the young men who helped me were pleasant, helpful and not condescending, which isn’t always true for women in bike shops. Reasonable prices and pretty good inventory, even with pandemic shortages. Super convenient to where I live, too. Thank you Contes!

Killian Cervino: I really enjoyed getting my bike fixed here the employees are very fun to chat with and create a super welcoming environment!

Peter Jost: Knowledgeable, friendly and courteous staff made buying a new adult “comfort” bike a most pleasant experience.

City Bikes Tenleytown: what do users think?

Pieter Wyffels: I usually go to the store in Adams Morgan (great people, great service), but my electric bike has special tubes which they did not have. So they suggested me to go to their other store in Tenleytown. There, Carlos helped me out. He did not have the right tubes either, but fixed my tire and showed me how I can do it myself a next time, with the tools I could buy at the store, which I did. He was super friendly, solution oriented and smiling all the time. Seems like City Bikes only hires passionate, friendly employees, in Adams Morgan and Tenleytown.

Rosina Teri Memolo: I needed some work on my bike and they were awesome. Super helpful. I thought I might have needed a tuneup, but the mechanic was honest and said, “not yet.” So I got a MUCH NEEDED new saddle and some handlebar lights. Left me warm and fuzzy and they did it while I waited. Worth the drive uptown. Will return. THANK YOU!

David Happ: Great people who stand behind the product they sell. Look these electric bikes are not cheap and when they break it Is good know that City Bikes Tenleytown has staff that really care about what they do! I had a warranty repair that was completed on time and properly by great people.

Hannah J: I’ve purchased two bicycles in 2022 here. First, the text option to reach staff members is excellent, I used it to schedule my bicycle pickup and purchase equipment. Second, the staff are all very helpful and give their experiences as well as the stated recommendations. Finally, I arrived a minute after closing and the staff went above and beyond to give me my bicycle, even though they were closing up the store.

Gearin' Up Bicycles: what do users think?

M B (M B): Had a great experience here! I went to one of their Saturday bike sales and was able to find a nice bike with the help of the staff! They also have a shop that you can go to for bike maintenance and to learn skills from the staff. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good bike in DC.

Brandon Sousa: Really happy with my experience here. I had a flat and they addressed it immediately, I was back on the road in 5 minutes. Reasonable prices, I think I paid $40 total for the tube, the tube change, and a new tougher tire, hopefully keeping the bits and bobs out of my ride.

Grant Sexton: Had several things fixed on my old Schwinn Traveler. The price for repair was great, and the customer service was as well. They gave me a very down to earth explanation of some of the problems on my bike too, which I appreciated because I often have trouble tracking with “bike guys.”

Aurora Williams: Love that this in an option in our community. Very affordable, professional, and quick service. Was in and out with a fixed bike within 30 minutes. Very happy to make the trek and support this organization.

Bryce McKibben: Awesome place to stop in for a quick repair. Got a flat and came in around 4pm, and it was done in 30 minutes. Amazing prices, too. Will be coming back here again!

Nastacia Moore: The guys are so friendly and knowledgeable. I brought my bike in same day and they fixed it on the spot. I highly recommend this place.

Diana Nguyen: Just after moving to DC, this is where I bought my trusty bike. I was received with great energy and just overall amazing service. They helped me out on fitting me with a bike, describing the details/repairs of said bike (ie Shimano STI shifters, hieght adjustment, etc.), etc.. By far the nicest bike I ever did buy. You know I really love it here because I ended up naming my bike, Keith.

Cale Magruder: these guys are awesome. hooked my friend up with a new bike cheap, and tightened up a loosening crank on my bike for free. great people :-)

Zbigniew Kostrzewski: Fantastic shop and mission! Quick affordable and pleasant service! Highly recommended, well worth some travel easy street parking! All in on this shop and its mission.

Papillon Cycles: what do users think?

Kathryn Wiley: Highly recommend! I brought in my 4-year old Fuji road bike for a tune-up and they must have done some magic because it rides smoother than even when I got it brand new. Thank you for the amazing service!

John McVay: I don’t trust anyone else with my bike! I’ve been going here since 2010 for bike repairs and have purchased two bicycles here.

Caroline Hoffmann: I went in to discuss a bike I wanted to purchase and the shop talked me out of buying it after listening to what I was looking for in a bike. Then, they fixed up my current bike (which I’d been looking to replace), found me a better rear rack, and helped adjust all of the problem spots. It is now a joy to ride and although this isn’t the closest shop to me, I’ll be bringing my bikes here from now on.

Isaac Foley: I live down the street (so perhaps I’m geographically biased) and this is my go-to bike shop. It helps that I can walk my bikes there, but I feel lucky and privileged to have these guys mere blocks away. I’ve been cycling for over a decade and got into doing my own work a few years ago, but when I need tools and experience I don’t have this is where I go. When it comes to repairs and maintenance, I don’t think you can find better prices or more honest, up-front service in Arlington. Anyone with a bike built before 2000 I would recommend you bring it here if you need anything done.

Jeffrey D: Great location with very helpful staff - prices and bike repair services are very responsible.

Kevin Hein: Jeff was super helpful. Answered all my questions and gave me a great deal on a used Trek. Shop has a friendly atmosphere. I was able to trade in my old bike.

Stephen Lyon: Great LBS. hooked me up with my BikeFlights shipment! Support local.

Donald Forest: The staff and management of this bike shop are exceptionally attentive and skilled. Very good service at a very reasonable price. Their advice on my many bikes has saved me hundreds of dollars and time. I will not go to any other bike shop anywhere. Papillon Cycles beats all the overpriced shops hands down - service, quality, attention to detail - six stars!!!

Chanpen Tee: The guy here is really nice. He gives us a lot of helpful info about the electric bike that we are looking for. The store is very clean. There are a lot of electric bicycle brands and options.

Emma K Alexandra: I’ve taken my bike in for maintenance twice and had wonderful experiences both times. First time they discovered a large issue with my bike & worked with the manufacturer to replace it under warranty. Took a bit but I got a new bike out of it. A+ Second time was for simple maintenance. They fixed up my bike quickly and it feels brand new again. Super friendly staff. Would recommend this place to anyone. I would love if they had bike rentals available when I bring my bike in for maintenance. It’s my primary transportation and I truly miss the convenience of an ebike while it’s in the shop.

Manuel Paniagua: I am a regular at Electric City Bikes, and that is because I really enjoy working with Paul. He is always on top of my bicycle repair requests, never failing to follow up with me on work progress or any other pending orders. The staff in general is very knowledgeable and professional. The environment at the shop is always very welcoming and relaxed. I highly recommend them!

Cynthia O: I had a great experience with Paul. He is extremely knowledgeable about all of the bikes and suggesting what would work for me and my lifestyle. He was always available to answer questions, and help me make the right decision. He even worked out delivery to NYC.

A F: I’ve been coming here off and on for a decade or so and this is just about the best shop I’ve ever been to- not just for cycling, but for anything. Great people with a great mission, knowledgeable, fairly priced and very community oriented. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to donate, to buy a bike or cycling gear, or have work done, this is the place to go. I wish every shop was more like velocity

Griffin Cycle Inc: what do users think?

David Lipscomb: Griffin has made it easy and worry-free to own & commute via an electric bike. When I was shopping for an e-bike 2 and 1/2 years ago, I almost went the online route -- since there were/are cheaper, well-reviewed options out there. Fortunately, I realized I needed a reliable, local shop if I was going to sustain my move to bike commuting, beyond the purchase. For the past 2+ years -- even during the pandemic -- the staff at Griffin has supported me with tune-ups and tons of advice. Love walking in to that place. Great people.

Bernard Wagman: They were extremely helpful in fitting me with a new bicycle and gave a great follow up service. I have recommended them to others and plan to bring my family back in for more bicycles. Their service department is excellent as well. Very fair and accommodating

Steven Tender: Great independent bike store. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Go there for bike service, you will not be disappointed. 💯🚴‍♂️

Anthony Lentine: Every time that I go there, I get help, good advice and quick service. Last time I was having trouble with my right shifting mechanism that I have never experienced. Bert took my bike and with the cold weather, the grease was so thick the shift would not engage; a new one for me. He quickly fixed the defect and I was on my way. The store is a true warm spot for all levels of cyclist. Thanks for being there!

Frank Pawlicki: the bike rental was handled very professionally. the bike was prepped with the proper SPD peddles when i arrived to pick the bike up, i was fitted, and given directions regarding local cycling routes. the bike performed well through out the week averaging 40 miles a day on the local ride routes. bike return was handled equally well. One issue that did come up was the lack of a flat kit with a pump or CO2 for refilling the flat tire, turns out it was a new employee education issue. it was a great experience.

Jacques Taty: Great staff.. highly knowledgeable, patient, friendly and extremely professional.I recommend them strongly. We are a biking family of 4 and Griffin is our one stop shop for everything bike related.

Diane Weil: I have been a customer at Griffin Cycles for years. They have always had great customer service and do an excellent job with bike repair service. Recently I ordered a small top tube bag that had to be specially ordered from a store in California because the company is no longer widely distributing them, and they were "right on it !" Thanks Griffin Cycles ! Diane Weil Bethesda, Maryland

Valerie Rouxel-Laxton: Hi! I love my bike and cycling has become a second nature to me. Whenever it needs a tune-up, Griffin cycle has been my go-to for a number of years. Service is top notch, folks are extremely courteous and I always walk out with great additional advice. Way to go!

Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Matt Weiner: I love this place. The shop is well stocked with a variety of complete bikes from varied manufacturers (rather than a single company like many competitors in the area) and assorted spare parts, kit, food, and other goodies. I had my first bike fit here and Jordan went far beyond what I was anticipating to help me get a perfect fit with no discomfort. The maintenance staff are very knowledgeable and will readily offer advice and guidance to new cyclists and old pros alike, rather than just trying to sell you a replacement part. There are always other customers in the store, but never so many that you feel like you are lost in a crowd; a team member will always be available to assist you. Of all the bike stores in NOVA, this is the place I plan to continue to go to.

Blair Schiff: I do not typically post reviews, but I have to in this instance. I was blown away by the service and attention provided by Mike (the store manager) and T (the head mechanic). They were patient answering my questions, very informative and knowledgeable about my bike (despite having purchased it at another shop), solved my braking and tubeless tire problem with creative solutions, and taught me how to look for issues on my bike as well as how to fix them. In short, they were everything you want in your local bike shop. I cannot recommend them enough and they certainly have all of my future business.

Dylan Sandlin: I’ve been to this shop close to a dozen times for both minor adjustments and larger servicing/maintenance and to shop for other cycling stuff and this Conte’s does it better than any shop I’ve been to in the greater DMV area. Their service is excellent, and T has helped me on numerous occasions. Super great, friendly guy and very knowledgeable! Also, they have a really good inventory of bikes, parts, apparel, and gels/food so I can make a quick pit stop and get anything I may need while I’m out on a ride. Highly recommend this shop!

Wendy Cho: Shout out to Renee!!! As a beginner cyclist, me and my husband was so lost. We went to 5 different bike shops, and We finally ended up buying both of our bikes here. Renee is so knowledgeable and very professional. She knew exactly what we needed. She gave us good advice on how to pick a bike to how to take care of it. She’s like a mom. She knows what’s the best for you!

Sam Reale: I come in here frequently since moving to the area 4 years ago, and highly recommend it! Great staff (Sweet T lubed up my chains and tightened my water bottle holder free of charge). Has a great neighborhood feel, knowledgeable people who genuinely love bikes, and high tech resources.

Bobby Ghadery: Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. I’ve been in several times for various reasons from questions to service. Sweet T in their shop helped me quickly fix an issue with my bike today, and I’ve also had a great experience with Mike and several others on the team both in their shop and on the floor. If you need a trustworthy, friendly and professional bike shop, come here!

Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Christopher McHugh: I had a full RETUL fitting with Clark at the Falls Church location on February 24, 2022. He was very knowledgeable and carefully considered my input. He answered many questions during the process concerning my set up and how my bike interacts with the body. Also they called in their master mechanic, Bob, several times to wrench on my ride. Awesome experience and excellent results.

Doug Greene: Great thanks to Richard this morning! I arrived at the shop (first visit) thinking I had a problem with the front tire valve. Richard expertly took a look and advised me of the actual issue, which we quickly corrected. He put air in the tires to spec and I was back onto the WO&D after only five minutes. I’ll be back to Conte’s, for sure!

S N: Stopped in for a quick service today on a bike I bought here a couple of months ago. They were able to quickly fix a few minor issues that had popped up during the break-in period. Good location with knowledgeable professionals and store layout that lets you find what you need quickly. This location is just a few hundred feet from the w&od trail in Falls Church and very convenient by bike.

Elspeth Payne: I came down to Conte’s from Silver Spring for a bike fitting with Becky Puritz. I’m not a performance rider, but I like to tour so I spend a lot of hours in my saddle. I was scheduled for the basic fitting. Becky started by measuring my feet - not just my shoe size, but where certain bones ended, how my weight shifts, lots of very specific measurements. She made a lot of small tweaks - made my shoes a more stable platform, moved my cleats back a bit, got the right size saddle, lowered and changed the angle of my handlebars and shifters, things like that. Becky was very thorough. One of the shop mechanics came in to help make a couple of changes too. It doesn’t feel like a new bike exactly, but it is definitely more comfortable post-fitting. I really notice that my shoulders and upper back stay relaxed now, and I’m not putting as much weight on my hands. I can reach both the shifters and my brakes much more comfortably. The fitting was worth the price and I wish I had had it done sooner!

Hugh Newcomb: Went earlier this week for a bike fitting with Becky. It seems like everybody here agrees, Becky is the BEST. She is knowledgeable, personable, and excellent at her job. The time flew by, and she made sure that she knew exactly what I was hoping to get out of our time, and that we achieved those goals and my future riding will be more comfortable and more efficient. My only disappointment is that I didn’t know about Conte’s and Becky a year ago when I started riding!

Alex Benitez: Great service! Very knowledgeable! Good place to bring your bike to repairs and nice new bikes too. My go to bike shop 👍🏼

Eric's Mobile Workshop Bike Repair: what do users think?

Aimee Norwood: Eric traveled out to Loudoun County to tune-up all of our family bikes. He was super professional and clearly exceptionally knowledgeable about bikes. He knew quite a bit about each of our four different bikes. He was interesting to talk to and I appreciated the care he took with each of our bikes. I will be highly recommending him to all my friends needing bike repair and tune-up.

Saaj Visaria: Eric did a great job on my bike and also provided recommendations for future upkeep that I hadn’t considered. This convenience is so fairly priced, I’ll be sure to contact Eric for any other issues I have with my bike!

Boluwatito Oladeinde: **edited Eric deserves all the 5 stars possible. He reached out to me after seeing my earlier review and we were able to set up a quick appointment for a convenient time for both of us. He was really kind and understanding. He got my bike assembled and used some of his personal items. His price was also really fair. I had a great experience 10/10 would recommend —- I haven’t been able to utilize Eric’s service yet but from the general review, I can conclude his services must be good. I will suggest that he kindly updates the address listed on google maps because the address routes me to a residential apartment and I have come there twice now just as a waste of time. I would also suggest if he could hire someone (or other people) to manage his communications because it sucks to have to wait multiple days to receive a reply back to your text and also be never able to get in touch with him via calling within his working hours. I really want to be a regular customer at Eric’s but it’s very frustrating to be unable to get in contact with him via call or text. I will update my review (to the 5 star i believe he deserves) once he gets back to me and helps me with my bike! :)

Romeo Arahan: Eric was easy to communicate with. He regularly updated his whereabouts and arrived at the expected time of appointment. He did not mind that I was watching while doing the tune-up. In fact, he was amenable to that and started explaining how each part could affect the speed and longevity of my bike. I was very satisfied with the overall service and I will definitely book him again if I encounter issues with my bike!

roger depaz: Eric was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional when fixing my e-bike! I would call him again in a heart beat! I would also recommend him to anyone looking to get their bike fixed! Thanks, Eric!

Carol Bruna: Eric it was such a pleasure to have you work on my E-bike! I thought it was done for and then enter Eric! He was able to fixed it and literally save my life! I highly recommend him to fix anyone’s bike. Thank you very much!

Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Jamie Brennan: Cole, especially, was easy to talk to about my amateur bike issues. He had an educational approach and fair from a cost perspective—my brakes just needed tightened. But he helped me realized that and showed me how to do it myself for next time. I visit every so often, and their customer service has been consistently kind and professional!

vicdn3: I am very much satisfied with the service I received at the shop. The job was done very promptly. Mechanic P. Gonzales was very professional, and pleasant to deal with. I felt like I came to a friend of mine whom I know for years. I would recommend the shop to a friend and to all the cyclists in the area!

Brenda Fleming: Thank you to Cole and Raven who organised last minute bike hire for us. The bikes were in excellent condition and came with the helmet and lock included. Staff have great customer skills and a really good sense of humour. I would certainly recommend.

Adyel Duran: Visited here for the first time today. Cole immediately made us feel welcomed and helped us install a couple of items that we purchased on my bike. Will definitely be returning for anything I need for my bike. Cole is the man!

Patrick Shaw: My wife and I came in on a Saturday afternoon to get our mountain bikes adjusted. We received superb immediate attention and service. The bikes were ready in about 45 minutes and off we went, riding again!

REI Co-op: what do users think?

Michael Brown: As a company, REI should not inflict their political beliefs onto customers. That said, they carry good gear and this particular location is fantastic. Every time I have come here they have exactly what I need. The staff are friendly and helpful and generally knowledgeable. I don’t know who makes REI branded clothes and gear, but they do a good job.

Mike R: I like this store for so many reasons. First: they have excellent customer service. Today I walked in with my bike to get my flat tire fixed. A woman approached me and signed me in. Then a man walked up to me and asked if I would like to him to park my bike. I was appalled by this gesture. Second: This establishment has everything here. I mean like… leave that bike area if you want to. You will be buying anything from energy gel to underwear. Third: conveniently located right beside the metro.

Anne Probst: Thank you Jeremy in cycling for taking care of my bike I commute on. Haley assisted and was down to earth and happy. High five to Micah in footwear who helped me find a size in a scarpa I haven’t been able to find in stores in 4 years. He’s super knowledgeable and was connecting with all the customers. Thank you REI DC!

Louisa Buatti: I visited REI for the first time since the pandemic began. My pick up of an online order went very smoothly. Every staff person I encountered was friendly and helpful--they all offered to direct me to the customer service/pick up area. I was in and out of the store in a flash.

Bikenetic Full Service Bicycle Shop: what do users think?

Thi Doan: I haven’t written many reviews lately but this shop definitely deserves to be notice. Brian has helped me out so much in the past week I could kiss the guy if my wife wouldn’t beat me from jealousy. First he tuned parts of the bike in minutes when I suffered trying to fix it for hours, then I brought in a bike trainer and he helped me set that up. All of this without any hesitation and world class customer service. I usually just go to the big box stores like REI and Spokes but never again. This shop was amazingly fair with their pricing and exceptionally helpful with all my crazy needs. My bike works perfectly now and so does the trainer. Thank goodness I took it to them. Everyone at the shop deserves recognition for being wonderfully helpful. Thank you so much!!!

Adam Jenkins: Super friendly, easy going staff, very knowledgeable and will give their opinion when asked. Was buying a commuter bike and knew what I was looking for, no pushy salesmanship and they put all of the gear while I waited. Definitely happy that I found a really solid shop. Also, as an added bonus there is a trail right next to the shop so test riding is super simple.

Nicco Page: Amazing service! I broke a couple spokes with my ulock by accident. I was devastated. I use my bike everyday to commute from Arlington to DC for work. My bike makes my everyday life so much easier instead of wasting money on uber or using the forever failing metro. I wasn’t trying to rush them to do my bike but I probably came off that way, sorry. But nonetheless they finished my bike in 2 days and it seems to be riding great! I really appreciate the care and welcoming energy they gave to me. I think this will be my new bike shop! Again…..I truly appreciate them helping me and getting my bike back in good working condition!

Luther Swift: A real neighborhood bike shop that is family owned and operated. The staff is integrated into the community, supporting the other local businesses as well as sponsoring a number of rides and races for the bicycle community. They love bikes and they want you to also.

Robert C: I bought a Kona Mountain bike here several years ago. Had to bring it in for service today. I have an issue with the back tire popping often. Had been told at the shop before that it was bad luck and they made upgrades to and fixed the tire tube each time. Today there was some of that same talk about luck but not as much. Was shown that the tire was low even though it felt ok to the touch to me. I will start a routine as a result of my visit today of checking the exact tire pressure before every ride. 45 psi. Also that the valve stem is very straight and has not slipped. Service here is good and friendly. I hope they have solved the problem i have been having with this last visit to their shop.

Matt Kralovec: This place doesn’t need another five star review, but I’ll throw one out anyway. Incredibly personal and non-intimidating service got me riding in under an hour with my perfect (albeit not super high end) bike. Treated this relative newbie as they treat bigger spenders. Doesn’t have the same sterilized feel as most shops in the area. What a shop!

Proteus Bicycles: what do users think?

Sarah OMalley: Absolutely amazing experience. Laurie was personable, worked with my budget, and got me on the bike of my DREAMS while educating me along the way! I cannot recommend Proteus enough. Don’t mess around with online vendors, let a professional team get you set up! Come for the bikes, stay for the in-shop coffee :)

Recon DMV: Exceptional Service. Laurie was professional and knowledgeable. Family owned business. They had everything I wanted. Also the bike I wanted and set it up for me. I will be going back and highly recommended. I even got a coffee. Most important, reasonable prices. 3/22- I went back a few more times. I even purchased another bike. The customer service is exceptional. After my 1st Trail Ride, I thought I blew the seals on the forks. They checked it out & got me back on the road. Highly recommended

Bethany Gresser: Excellent service! I was greeted immediately and brought me to Duncan to help me get a new red light for the back of my bike. He was very friendly and he worked with despite my not knowing all that much about bikes. He made a recommendation based on what I told him I needed, he showed me a couple different spots where it could be mounted, then he installed it right there. He also answered a couple other questions I had about about bikes that had nothing to do with my purchase. I highly recommend Proteus Bicycles in College Park, MD!

Sreyas Sourav: I set out to buy a bike for daily use and stumbled upon Proteus since it had excellent reviews and was better than the one available near campus. My rep was excellent , he helped me out and was patient and answered my questions and even threw few perks. Highly recommend .

Jayid: Very courteous and professional staff member. Had a pleasant experience shopping for my bike. Highly recommend.

Terrence Sanchez: I always go here to get my bicycle needs especially when I need to get my mountain bike fixed. Bunch of cool and nice people here! The coffee shop is a great addition as well. Grab a cup of coffee while waiting for your bike to get fixed? Sure! Def recommend

seancday: I purchased a road bike from Proteus. I used their website to make the purchase and went to the store to pick up. Tremendous service. Laurie was excellent. Knowledgeable and friendly. I arrived after a store group ride had finished so a lot of the regulars were out front and it was a friendly community. I live pretty far from the store or it would be my local shop (always have a local shop if you bike).

Keith Baker: Great experience. Dropped my bike off for repairs/adjustments and it was ready 2 hours later. Professional service at a great price!
