Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Simulation (MorningStar): The only reason I am giving this place any stars is because of the great customer service. But I’ve reviewed another location and almost gave this place the same energy. Honestly regret giving this place a chance based of other locations. I just don’t understand how I’ve brought several bikes with mainly the same issue… bottom bracket or lock ring. It’s like they can’t tighten bolts correctly. The only good repair I had was them making sure my handle bars didn’t move. But when it come to a lock ring. This place sucks, I mean yeah I ride fixed, yeah my bike has no brakes. But why is the rest of the bike a safety concern. Ohhh because kids working on bikes older than them. Yeah this place has seen the last of me after this last issue which was dangerous considering how and where I ride. I won’t allow this place to kill me
Response: Hi, Kamaal. First off, thank you for your kind words about our customer service. We're happy that doesn't go unnoticed. We all know that a bike messenger's bike can be put through the wringer. Things break frequently. Good quality components will help avoid this. If you would like to speak to one of our stores about installing some good quality components that can take The use that a bike messenger puts on a bike, we would love to be able to help you out. We can recommend the best products that will be the most durable for you. Hope you'll give us another chance!

Brent Nussbaum: I now know first hand why Conte’s was chosen as America’s #1 bike shop by NBDA. After attempting to work with several other bike shops in NOVA, the Falls Church Conte’s team was the only shop that invested in me as a customer and went out of their way to work with a bike manufacturer they didn’t even have a contract with at the time. The provided with with updates on their efforts and eventually successfully helped me with getting this beautiful new frame. They communicated the shipping details, checked in during the wait time and notified me the day it arrived to the shop where I was able to inspect it right away. I easily scheduled the frame swap and they finished the swap in the same day that I took the old frame in. I couldn’t be happier with this experience and the service they provided me. I now look forward to riding with the shop during their group rides. I highly recommend Conte’s if you’re considering a new purchase or in need of bike maintenance.
Response: Thank you so much, Brent! This is an amazing review and really helps our team know their hard work doesn't go unnoticed. Thanks again and see you soon!

Eric Weissman: I got a flat on my commute from Takoma Park to downtown DC this morning. I locked my bike up near Conte's until my lunch break then had them replace the tube. Turns out the front tire was worn out and needed to be replaced. Then we decided to do the rear tire, too. While my bike was up on the stand, the mechanic did a once over, tightening this, lubing that, adjusting this, fixing that, all while I waited. I rolled out of there on a nicer bike at a very fair price. Great customer service. Delighted.
Response: That's what we're here for! Happy to help and hope to see you again soon, Eric!

James Watson (Jimmy): I go there to get my bike fixed and they always do a great job. Keon is always extremely helpful and tells me what’s needed, he assist me in the most professional manner and does great work on my bicycle. Their music selection is just as good as the service. Thank you to the staff at this shop, every experience I have is a great experience!

Mike Crockett: Great experience overall. The folks working here are honest, hard-working and helpful. I just needed a tune-up on my bike and looking online I decided I needed the Annual Service. After going in and talking to one of the employees, he actually told me it was unnecessary based on how good the condition the bike was still in, so I opted for the less-expensive Semi-Annual Service. In addition, they got the bike serviced two days ahead of schedule. These are good people who actually prioritize customer needs instead of making a quick buck. Highly recommend

Reda ABOUTAJDINE: I was already using their outside installed pump, which allows customers to access it even when the shop is closed, so I already had a good opinion, but my experience replacing an air chamber further convinced me. Great service, I especially appreciated pricing the transparency (I was given an estimate beforehand). Overall, very helpful and polite staff.

Chris Marker: Stopped in on a whim because I was riding down Q st and I needed some chain lube. In the process of showing me how to properly lubricate the chain, the mechanic discovered that my back wheel was (badly) off kilter and was able to get it quickly fixed while I went and got some lunch. Fantastic service!

Estelle Dauchy: I love this shop and I feel so glad that they are conveniently located, not far from Dupont or Logan. I was helped by Emily, who is super knowledgeable and professional. She obviously knows the variety of bikes and their features, and asks the needed questions to assess how we relate to our bike, in order to provide the best and most fitting advice. This is my second nike bought at Conde (with the store service warranty). My first bike was unfortunately stolen after 8 months. Emily helped me find my new bike and advise me on the best way to protect it from theft. The whole Conde team is very professional, and helped me add the additional parts that I needed on my new bike. I highly recommend the Conde store.
Response: Thanks so much for the review, Estelle! Happy to have you as a customer.

Claudia Spain: So I'm in DC visiting a friend. We're walking around and all the sudden we notice that one of my front wheels of my manual wheelchair is missing a nut & bolt so my wheelchair tire is sideways and can't use it properly. It's Sunday so everything "medical" or "wheelchair repair" is closed and I'm like ok GREAT now what....WAIT! Let me call a bike shop!? Called Conde's and they said they weren't sure what I need but they'd be able to figure something out if I bring it in and they did!!! Amazing service and definitely helped me out in my time of desperation. I can't thank them enough!! 💜💜💜💜💜

Jesse Zukerberg: The employees at this Conte’s location we’re not knowledgeable. Further, they worked very slow and didn’t not display customer service. I do not recommend this shop if you want quality service in a timely manner. The Cathedral heights location is always good though.
Response: Hi, Jesse. We apologize for your experience with us in Logan Circle. Unfortunately you stopped in when we had just two employees working in the shop and we weren't able to stop the other tasks we had in progress to get your bike worked on and get you back out the door in a matter of minutes. We look forward to welcoming you back at any of our locations.

Bicycle Pro Shop: what do users think?

Mike Jones: Long time quality shop in DC, been going there since 1996 when I was a bike messenger and racer. Stopped in today to get some new cleats, and grabbed some energy gels, new gloves, and got a great deal on some aero water bottles from the manager Garrett. Got everything I needed for upcoming race quickly and with friendly helpful service. Thanks a lot!!

Humberto Murati: Last Saturday stopped by the shop to get the front tyre fixed. After a couple of miles the front tubeless Schwalbe had a pinched. Job was done perfectly. I was able to ride back to Old Town Alexandria, confident that the tyre will not be an issue. Thanks guys for the awesome friendly customer service and the great job fixing the tyre. Humberto Murati Owner Murati Titanium Bicycles LLC #muratibicycles
Response: I am so happy we could help you out! Let us know if you ever need anything in the future, and keep up the good work on those frames! Keep an eye on this guy folks.

Michael Kelly: Bought from Giants website, shipped to the store and they were the most professional and courteous staff. Bike was built and ready to ride the next day. I would highly recommend getting a bike here, staff was knowledgeable and were extremely professional.

Nikolay Sandev: Super knowledgeable and highly skilled mechanics. Provided me with great advice and answered al my questions. Put together my dream bike perfectly. Highly recommended shop if you're a cyclist in DC!
Response: Thanks for showing us some love Nikolay! Ride safe!

OSCAR CLONINGER: Technician Will White rocks! Friendly and didn’t lord over me with his knowledge. Don’ know about the other team members but I would go back and pay for Will’s help anyway! FYI: in and out in a jiff when I dropped my bike of: the shop wasn’t super busy when I dropped my bike off!

Alan Raeder: I stopped in the shop this past summer needing a specific chain tensioner for my single speed and Dave went above a beyond to get me set up with one. I was taking a rest day in the middle of a bike tour and working on fixing a few things on my bike. I visited/called more than 8 shops with no luck. I met Dave at Bicycle Pro Shop and after learning the shop did not have the part, he mentioned he had a used one at home. Later that evening, Dave met up with me and I got the part I needed to keep going the next day as planned. Really helpful and appreciated!

Andrew Moore: Absolutely great service from Garrett here. I’d been having an ongoing issue that another shop wasn’t able to identify or fix. It took Garrett minutes to figure it out and the bike is 100% again. Highly recommend.
Response: Andrew - Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. I look forward to your next visit at the shop. Enjoy the holidays!

Ferris Bueller: Went in as Im traveling and was looking for something in a bind. It wasnt the fact that they were unable to help me, but it was a whole vibe.... in a bad way. Can't see myself ever going back in there. And I love bike shops!

fgjewett: Best shop in the DC area, I bought a road bike and had such a good experience that I bought a mountain bike there too. The staff are easygoing and knowledgeable; they are a great shop for the mid-to-High end merchandise. They’re not snobby or elitist like other high end places can be. Every purchase comes with a free fitting, which is a $100 value. They also provided free adjustments for a year which was great.
Response: Thank you for the review! I hope you're enjoying the bike!

Jimmy Russell: We love the customer service very informative upfront and honest. Very impressed with the bike feels good rides smooth and good. Very light for a Hybrid Bicycle.
Response: Thank you for the kind words Jimmy! Please don't be a stranger if there's anything we can help you out with. Ride safe! Garrett

Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Slav Gatchev: Super friendly customer service and excellent, professional work. I have taken regular and e-bikes there for service and also bought an e-bike from them. It has all gone super smoothly. They also bill conservatively (don't overcharge and quite the opposite). Good automated and phone communication/updates re order status. A very large airy showroom with plenty of elbow room. Very disciplined about mask use by staff and customers. All around perfect.
Response: Thank you for your review, Slav!

Sergey Zvezdov: Fantastic place, people and service! I am so happy that I got this place recommended for my cycling needs. I have a very specific and not common bike fitting requirement. Team handled it super well, easy and with great amount of details. I like professionalism of the team and easy communication. Since the fitting, 2 more bike maintenance requests were handled by the team. This is my place to go now in greater Charlotte area, even though I am far away from them. Thank you Conte team and special thanks to Andrew Lerner!
Response: A good bike fit is so important to enjoying your bike. We're so happy to have helped you along your journey and hope you get miles and miles of happy riding!

John Willis: Good honest people always willing to help. My partner and I have a couple of e-bikes and Conte’s has been a fantastic maintenance hub over the last year. They keep you riding year round. Kudos Conte’s, you’ve earned a loyal customer.

Darrel Perez: Went in for a quick "squeak-out" treatment on the brake discs and they came out serviced like new and in less than 15 minutes for a moderate price. All the staff is professional, knowledgeable, and friendly but Scott is the best, he provides timely service and complete information on the work performed and maintenance tips to keep your bike tuned up and road-ready. Thank you guys!

Angela Fogg: Excellent customer service. We went to get a bike repaired and they helped us find an e-bike that was a better fit. Everyone was helpful and no one was pushy. We walked around the store for a while at our own pace and asked questions many questions. Like I said great service.

Adam Pulford: Great Shop in DC! Scott Deans is the man, but for real - everyone at Conte's in Navy Yard I've worked with has been awesome. Highly recommend brining your toys in for fixing and tune ups when they need it!

Courtney Bryan: I went to get a bike fitting for my new bike, and Liz did a phenomenal job! She took her time to explain everything she was doing, and she asked me a lot of detailed questions to ensure she addressed all my concerns. I feel confident that I'm ready for biking season now. Thank you Liz for sharing your knowledge. My back and knees thank you too. Lol

Shawn “I_DRINK_MY_JUICE” D: I don’t normally do reviews unless I had a bad experience somewhere but Liz that took care of my bike fitting @ Conte at the Navy Yard location was the absolute bomb. Not only was she the bomb but everybody in the store was great!! The Arlington Va store was great and now great service @ the Navy Yard location. Couldn’t ask for more!!!
Response: So happy to hear this. Thanks for your review, Shawn and we hope your new bike fit give you miles of happy riding!

Jordanb Barrera: Great service while I was there to fix my bike. Got a new tube installed and Jack (the person that was helping me out) was great, fast service and did a great job too. Would definitely recommend going to Conte’s Bike Shop.

Joseph Smith: This is the most incredible bike shop ever because of the staff and service that they provide. They are welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, laid-back and no pressure and patience the whole time Whether you’re the only person in the store or one of a dozen. The experience in this Bike Shop is truly Phenomenal..I thought that the pricing It’s probably the best in town. I’m sorry that I can’t remember everyone’s names but I stress remember Brian , Semba and Brian , especially ( Sorry I can’t remember other names )
Response: Thanks so much, Joseph! We love reviews like this as it's clear you noticed many of the things we strive for every day. Hope to see you again soon!

City Bikes Adams Morgan: what do users think?

Lee Jones: Went here today for what I thought was going to be an expensive replacement of my gears/cables. The tech Esteban was AMAZING. He knew exactly what to do and fixed it super fast and figured I didn’t need expensive replacement at all. Really great experience all around and would definitely recommend! Also appreciate how friendly they.

Lewis Preston: I commuted by bike for many years, year round. Regular maintenance at City Bikes has kept my bike in great working order, helped me get around reliably, and helped me get a ton of use out of the same bike. The mechanic is great and very efficient!

Spencer Barks: Esteban was knowledgeable, kind and easy to talk to. I came in after hours and he helped me get everything on my bike squared away in an efficient and timely manner. Really appreciated his help especially when they were scheduled to close.

Jennie Boocock: Great service! I came in today for a hand-me-down bike to get checked out. Esteban was so helpful and attentive, taking time between projects to help me out and answer my questions. Will definitely choose this spot for all future bike needs!

Rina Bardin: I went to City Bikes in Adams Morgan for a basic tune up and had a great experience. Really appreciated Esteban's help. He was thorough and super nice. Will definitely come back in the future!

John Kostyack: These folks always do a great job helping me keep my bike running smoothly. Mark, in particular, is really knowledgeable and friendly. Reasonable prices.
Response: Thanks, I'll pass this along to Mark, VR kyle@citybikes.com

David Morse-Gagne: I was parked nearby, and walked in on a whim to look for parts for a bike I'm working on. Staff were super helpful and knowledgeable; they found me everything I needed and were full of helpful advice. Great neighborhood bike mechanics!

Paul Challan: I had a tricky issue with my chain ring and took it in to City Bikes. Estaben and Mark were able to take care of me right away. They were friendly, and knowledgeable and were able to get it fixed right away so that I could get back on more ride in the beautiful weather. Thanks guys!

Simone: After having a lot of difficulty with the gears on my bicycle, I decided to give City Bikes in AdMo a try, and I am so glad I did! Esteban was able to help me with my issue in what felt like 5 minutes flat. Not only was he extremely helpful and approachable, but he also made sure to refresh my tires at the end of the visit. Would definitely recommend Esteban and CityBikes!

John Gracely: Visited the shop to have a headset/fork installed (crown race put on, integrated bearings dropped in, steerer tube cut). Was quoted a price from tenley town location then quoted three times that amount by the Adams Morgan location. And was told it was complicated and would take a few days. Offered to simplify it for them and just have crown race put on and steerer tube cut. They agreed to that and it could be done by the next day for the same 3x original quote price. Ultimately ended up canceling the service and just did it myself at home as the price being requested was comparable to the cost of the tools needed to complete it. I appreciate their flexibility in letting me cancel my service request. I’m sure they would have done a fine job as it’s ~ 20 minutes of work with the correct tools and not complicated. Weirded out by the inconsistent service pricing between locations as It seemed it was just being made up on the spot. Mechanic was arrogant when I asked about that and just cited “specialized bike tools” Would definitely return to get the odd tube or cable but their service prices at least for the Adams Morgan location are pretty steep and staff could try to be less arrogant.

The Daily Rider: what do users think?

Sharmarke: Had a fantastic experience getting my bike fixed at The Daily Rider! Great folks who genuinely want to help get you back on the road as quickly as possible. The wonderful no-nonsense service (no pushy sales or unnecessary add-ons) and flawless follow up means that I've found my go-to local bike shop. Thanks :)
Response: Thanks so much for this! We really appreciate your feedback. Enjoy your ride!

V. A.: Will at the Daily Rider fixed a severe flat on my electronic bike (ebike). An eight inch construction nail went through my back tire and tube in two places. Will was knowledgeable, professional and courteous. He offered great recommendations, which made the process easy and straightforward for an affordable price. I decided to upgrade my ebike's tires and tubes to better quality products than the original items. The shop's location is very convenient with plenty of street and garage parking. I was able to drop off and pick-up my ebike with no problems. My experience with The Daily Rider was great because of the quick turn-around and excellent customer service. I would recommend The Daily Rider to anyone who wants a professional and well-done repair.

Frederick Plummer: I've been going to The Daily Rider years and the staff is always helpful. They always complete my bike repairs in timely manner and will point out any other problems that I may have not noticed. I feel really comfortable going to them to have my bike repaired.

Saints Finders: Awesome service. Got my bike working like new within the same day. Also completed safety checks and offered recommendations. Fair pricing.

Simulation (MorningStar): Finally a reason to review this location. I’ve tried this location I few years back when I first started riding track bikes. Immediately upon walking through the door, I was met with where’s your helmet? No hi, no can I help you… Followed with ohh and “ no brakes” I continued to shop. Every time I asked any questions pertaining to my new effectuation with bikes all together. Grunts and one word answers. Today is the last straw and it’s crazy because out of all the DMV bike shops. This one has never even been on my radar. With so many completely better shops only 5mins bike ride away. So only reason I called was to see if they were busy, because I had a small repair that just required a tightening of a lock ring, I was standing in REI(waiting). So I called, And upon picking up the phone I had explained this to them with detail. There was a slight pause… and the guy says, hey where are you calling from. Me- Wow! Did you hear anything I just said. Why are you concerned about anything other than my question. He says your caller ID, it’s Say you’re calling from The Simulation Short story… can you do this repair… Yes im calling from the simulation He returned with No sorry we can’t do it. 3 strikes and you’re out Daily Rider . Crazy I had received a gift card from a race. Never got to even use free money at your store. 🤡

Sam Goldgeier: This is a great bike shop to purchase a new bike or have your bike repaired. They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to deal with!

Gregory Higgins: Great bike shop. They have done tune-ups and repairs repairs to my bike multiple times. They also fix baby stroller wheels/tires!

Mark Sussman: .The Daily Rider has always given me A+ service ever since I became a customer 7 years ago (when I bought my Spot Ajax). Most recently, I needed a double kickstand for my bike in preparation for carrying my daughter on my bike. Not only did The Daily Rider give me an excellent recommendation based on my needs, they installed the part based on my scheduled appointment time and at the exact quoted price. I cannot recommend the Daily Rider enough!

Karen Ramsey: I picked a bad replacement seat. They heard about it, researched saddles that would be a better fit for me, let me try them out, handled a return, and installed the new new saddle. Always prompt, polite & helpful and staff never make a casual but daily rider feel like they don’t know enough about bikes as other shops have. That’s why I go back & encourage others to shop there, too.

Robb Dooling: I'm a Deaf frequent customer since 2016 and this shop is amazingly patient/flexible in communicating with my friends and me, including through frequent texting and typing. The employees are beyond honest and helpful about what they can do and can't do - even if they can't do something I'm looking for, they know how to find it. This business is also involved in advocacy for walkability and bike-ability in the neighborhood, something I appreciate deeply. They put their heart into their work. Out of the five years I've been going here, they only made a (very small) mistake once with my partner's bike; they immediately fixed it for free AND threw in a free improvement. I'm proud of making this my neighborhood go-to bike shop!
Response: A neighborhood shop couldn't ask for a better review. Really appreciate this Robb.

BicycleSPACE- Ivy City: what do users think?

Alex Martin: Leave it up to the wonderful people of Washington DC to complain about “rude” behavior. Maybe like one dude in the back was a douche but at least he was an honest douche. If you appreciate radical honesty then this place is worth a visit. Also Justin new kid training had great insight to give when it came to my curiosity about fixed bikes. Last but not least the owner made absolute sure my bike fit my body size, far more than the competition ever did. Will send people to this location for sure.

Louise Pocock: I’ll preface by saying I’m not a bike head but went to this shop in my neighborhood after moving to DC because I wanted to make biking my primary mode of transport. These guys spent hours listening to what kind of bike I wanted and how I planned to used it and explained all my options and answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly. I not only bought a bike but learned a lot about bikes and how to take care of them. They got me set up with all the practical locks/lights/fenders etc for a very reasonable price. When I wrecked they fixed it right away and for free (no replacement part needed, just my fenders reattached). I have been back several times for other little things and they always help me right away and keep me riding. I love my bike shop!
Response: Thanks, Loise! We love taking care of folks & their bikes and glad we helped you integrate cycling into your daily life! Hope the next time we see you it'll be for a ride & not a repair!

Mike Carr: Many bike shops are plagued with pretentious staff. This is NOT the case at Bicycle Space. The employees are all super friendly and helpful. As an added bonus their location in Ivy City is easy to get to from most parts of DC and there is almost always easy parking right out front. This shop also sponsors many fun bicycle events in the area, such as the Saturday Cupcake Ramble lead by Lionel!

Patrick Macy: Unmatched Integrity. I have been searching high and low for a touring bike. I have been to many bike shops in Maryland and DC which pushed me to buy gravel bikes that didn't fit either me or my budget. Rob pointed me to the Surly Disk Trucker. But, they only had 2. One was a tad too small, the other was a tad too big. He said I wouldn't be happy with either and recommended I keep looking. Knowing the exact right size to look for I called all over the DMV and fond one. I bought it from that other store. But THIS is my new bike store. They have a customer for life because of the bike they did not sell me. Integrity matters. Thank you.

Jessica Long: I was in the market for a new bike for commuting and racing as I start to get into triathlon training. The staff there was very engaging, kind, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend it!

Julia Lo: As others have mentioned, slow service and poor communication. I came in for a quick/on-the-spot repair but halfway through the repair the bolt on my front derailleur broke off. I was told that the mechanic would take a look at it the following week to see if he could get the bolt off, or if we had to order a replacement. I checked in periodically and was often told that they would get to my bike and provide an update "later today" and "tomorrow". Long story short, my bike was at the shop a little over 3 weeks. I would have appreciated an honest and realistic time estimate from the beginning. My brakes, which were replaced during the visit, were also squeaky when It came back to me. I would return to the shop only to have the squeaking return after after a day or so. The mechanic often talked trash about REI, but in my opinion they have not proven to be any better.

Nick Webster: BicyleSPACE is a wonderful, friendly, downtown bike shop. I stopped in to look around and a knowledgeable staff member took the time to show me around in a no pressure manner. When I am in the market for a new set of wheels, I will be in.

Lee Jahnke: BikeSpace DC used to be my go-to Bike Shop. These guys worked with you and offered options to fix things. Their repair times were honest. But in the last few months, these guys have cut corners as they deal with being overwhelmed from the pandemic. I've gone by the shop for parts or quick fixes and been told flat out "No". As in "No, we can't repair anything right now". and "No, we don't think you should install that part." This attitude isn't so much "Hey, we know better." but "We just don't have the time for you. Essential repairs only" So, save your time and money from trudging out to their remote location and go to a bike shop closer in.
Response: Hi Lee- Sorry we weren't able to help you with the part you were looking for yesterday, but as discussed, we'd have to see the bike (in this case wheel) you were attempting to get the part for in order to match the compatibility as there are multiple configurations that can't be freely swapped out. Also, as discussed, we rarely stock & frequently remove the part you were inquiring about from customer's bikes as it can lead to more problems than it solves if the bike is properly adjusted. You were also referred to another potential source for the item- hope you were able to find it or feel free to come by w/the bike/wheel & we can see whether we have exactly what you need or are able to order it for you, which can also be a challenge (along w/many other things) in these covid times. Thanks & Be Well!

Marc Pulliam: Not sure how they have 4 stars. These guys are very unprofessional. No type of customer service I call and ask if they sold bike pedals the response was were a. Bike shop how rude. Ordered a bike and had it shipped to be assembled which should had only taken a minimum of two days. My bike has been there over a week and all they can tell me is that they are backed up because there mechanic was tboned. They said they would follow up but I have not received any follow ups. At this point it will be faster to cancel my purchase and have a bike shipped to a different shop. No focus on customer service here don’t say you wasn’t warned

healthy healing: They took us right away we came in with two bikes. The rechained my daughter's bike. Checked my inner tube. Gave us an estimate if we need an innertube in the future. Sent us on our way. Welcoming, reasonable, angriest service. Highly recommend these guys!

Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Emmalynn “Big Gurl Lady E” Sharf: For starters I wish I could give zero stars. I came back a week later to find out the refund from a bike I was interested in and put money down that Contes never refunded the money. Then in turn which meant I had to travel back to their store to see what was going on. Now the second time finally I got my refund. Then I went got my son a little bike as pictured below and I wanted to see how much it would cost for assemble the clerk labeled the bike as child single speed which is not correct and wanted to charge 3x times the amount then the bike being worth which is $26.99. For a parent to get this bike and then to take advantage of a women or a mother like that as a single parent is crazy when the clerks knew it would not take long to assemble. Look at google and you will see what a single speed children bike will look like. This bike below does not look like a single speed kind of bike at all. Never again shopping with or at Contes.
Response: Hi, Emmalynn. We take 100% responsibility for what happened here. We made an honest mistake in processing your return and we apologize for that. It may not look like it, but some of these children's trikes take a significant amount of time to assemble, so we have typically charged our "single speed" build rate as they both take a similar amount of time to complete. Knowing the issue you had with your return, we should have done a better job working with you on this item and again, we apologize for that. If there's anything we can do to win your business back or if you'd like to discuss this further, please reach out to d.rodgers@contebikes.com. Thank you!

Jeremiah Johnson: My bike is literally better after having had it serviced in Cathedral Heights Conte than when I got it directly from the factory. The store manager and Noah were extremely helpful and patient. They are customer service centered bike experts.
Response: Thanks, Jeremiah! Hope to see you again soon!

Fred: Wonderful service… Joe and the team are true professionals. Prompt, efficient, and very courteous - they kept me posted on the status of a repair and stayed open late so I could pick up. Best bike shop in DC hands down!
Response: Thanks so much, Fred!

Justin Miller: I bought my son’s birthday bike here. The team was very helpful and supportive. Great communication, no ego, and patient. The mechanics added customizations that I requested, and had the bike ready for me a day later. My son was so happy with his new bike. Can’t praise or thank Conte Tenley enough. And for dad, I saw a bunch of great gear I want to add to my kit, so we’ll see you again soon!

Hope Neyer: Had a great experience with a quick trip through Contes today. Both of the young men who helped me were pleasant, helpful and not condescending, which isn’t always true for women in bike shops. Reasonable prices and pretty good inventory, even with pandemic shortages. Super convenient to where I live, too. Thank you Contes!
Response: Happy to be there for you, Hope! Thanks for the review.

Bryan Underwood: I returned from a 2 year stint overseas in which my bike sat unused in my friends outdoor shed. Conte's was quick and efficient in scheduling annual service, it was less expensive than other shops, they gave solid and necessary recommendations, and did not suggest things I did not need at thee time (note: my brakes may sound squeaky but they do not need changed for a year). I had my bike back with a week turnaround-much faster than all the other shops I contacted. Excellent service! A great neighborhood bike shop!

dagboh: I had a sub-par experience at this shop when trying to get my bike assembled. I was told on two different occasions that it was ready. When I showed up the first time, my bike wasn’t assembled, and when I showed up the second time, they assembled someone else’s bike instead of mine. Beyond that, when I visited, it seemed like I was burdening the staff. Nobody came and asked me what I needed until I approached them, but they seemed fine approaching other customers. When I called about when my bike would be assembled, the person who I talked to (I think his name was Wayne?) seemed quick to silence me with an answer, which ended up being wrong. I enjoyed the service from the Conte’s Bike Shop in Navy Yard more. The person there was quick to help me fix the flat I had on my old bike and even did it the same day right as the shop was closing at 6pm. He was a friendly person (young Black male with glasses) who gave me some tips on how to maintain my bike, and even fixed the tension on my chain for free. I thought this service would be the same at the Conte’s Bike Shop on Wisconsin which I why I went there to get my new bike assembled. It seems I was wrong. When it comes to the labor, the bike was well-assembled and they installed the custom parts I ordered with the bike, which is why I’m still giving a 3-star review. They didn’t install the reflectors on my bicycle though, which is concerning. Edit: Not only did the aforementioned happen, but the pedal on the bike came undone on my first long ride! Was clearly because it wasn’t tightened enough... now the insides are stripped. Come on.

Hem Nelson: I've taken my bike to be serviced there twice. Nice staff, and efficient service. Much better (and quicker) experience than I had with a couple other local bike shops.

Killian Cervino: I really enjoyed getting my bike fixed here the employees are very fun to chat with and create a super welcoming environment!

Peter Jost: Knowledgeable, friendly and courteous staff made buying a new adult “comfort” bike a most pleasant experience.

City Bikes Tenleytown: what do users think?

Pieter Wyffels: I usually go to the store in Adams Morgan (great people, great service), but my electric bike has special tubes which they did not have. So they suggested me to go to their other store in Tenleytown. There, Carlos helped me out. He did not have the right tubes either, but fixed my tire and showed me how I can do it myself a next time, with the tools I could buy at the store, which I did. He was super friendly, solution oriented and smiling all the time. Seems like City Bikes only hires passionate, friendly employees, in Adams Morgan and Tenleytown.
Response: Thanks Pieter, kyle@citybikes.com

Rosina Teri Memolo: I needed some work on my bike and they were awesome. Super helpful. I thought I might have needed a tuneup, but the mechanic was honest and said, “not yet.” So I got a MUCH NEEDED new saddle and some handlebar lights. Left me warm and fuzzy and they did it while I waited. Worth the drive uptown. Will return. THANK YOU!

Clark Forcey Jr.: I want to give 5 stars like the last time I had a bike completely redone but I can't due to just horrible communication. Only went to this location because they downsized their Adams Morgan location. I dropped off this bike explaining what I wanted done and how important this bike is to me. Was my best friends bike that passed away. Wanted all the bells and whistles and paid for it. Dropped off the bike on 3/15 and was told that a certain part wouldn't be available till 4/15. That's more than fine. 4/15 comes around and I ask for an update. All that's said is that still waiting for the part. A month later on 5/11 I ask for another update. They are still waiting for the part. I not the store then offers to try and get the part instead. I understand the problems Amazon has made for bike shops with supply issues. I then get the bike part myself and have it on 6/1. Was then given a semi answer that the bike would be ready in 3-7 days. On 6/9 was then told that the bike is ready with a different receipt than the one I was originally given. I wanted to go in and celebrate how awesome the bike looked and what a great job they did. Instead had to explain why I was so frustrated and confused on how this all went down. Something that could have been a month long process turned into 3. Family has spent thosands with this bike shop. That will no longer be the case. 0 stars for losing a customer. Edit. It’s now the day after and my just fixed bike had its right pedal fall off. Can’t make this up…

David Happ: Great people who stand behind the product they sell. Look these electric bikes are not cheap and when they break it Is good know that City Bikes Tenleytown has staff that really care about what they do! I had a warranty repair that was completed on time and properly by great people.

Michael Franzinger: High service prices and questionable workmanship. After spending $500+ on a gear replacement and variety of other general repairs here, a spoke popped out on the very next ride. Coincidence? Maybe, but the timing is suspicious. I told the shop about this, and they proceeded to charge $135 for the spoke fix, which seems high even without considering the circumstances. About the only positive thing I can say about this place is that it’s open later than most bike shops in the area.
Response: Michael, sorry about your experience, shoot me an email when you are free. Thanks, kyle@citybikes.com

William Brent: I bought my 2021 StumpJumper Alloy at this shop last year. The mechanic who prepped it for a test ride (Carlos) was really knowledgeable and helped me find the best bike for my riding style. After a great year putting a lot of miles on the bike, I made sure that Carlos was the one to work on my bike for a tune-up. He's done a lot of racing and knows dual suspension bikes inside out. He even took the time to teach me how to tune the shocks on my own and gave me advice about options for customizing things in the future. I really appreciated the attention to detail and expert knowledge. I'll be taking it back to Carlos at this shop for all future maintenance. Many thanks!

Hannah J: I’ve purchased two bicycles in 2022 here. First, the text option to reach staff members is excellent, I used it to schedule my bicycle pickup and purchase equipment. Second, the staff are all very helpful and give their experiences as well as the stated recommendations. Finally, I arrived a minute after closing and the staff went above and beyond to give me my bicycle, even though they were closing up the store.
Response: Thanks Hannah, we appreciate you, kyle@citybikes.com

Vannya - la chikis Vanessa: Didn't have a good experience here. Long wait to repair a scooter because they don’t have the tire, at first they said it will cost $ 140.00 plus the tire. After 2 days we had a text message telling us that it will take one month and half to repair the scooter and the total cost will be more than $250 dólares. We agreed to pay that but after two weeks they haven’t done anything with the scooter: Now they want us to buy the tire. This is crazy. We ordered the parts already. Just I want the scooter back and repaired. Last time we were told that if we take the scooter back we loose 100 dollars. I am going to provide the parts, fix the scooter and we are Done. Never never come back to the shop with no ethics. Unhappy customer
Response: Good Morning, Tho I understand your frustrations and this is why we reached out to you on the 3rd. The delays on reciving the tires for your scooter are the issues. But here's some feedback. 1) These are not American made products, they require replacement parts from another continent during one of the largest supply and shipping constraints in modern history. To complicate issues we are or were in the middle of the Chinese New Year. Everything slows down for a week or two. 2) Diagnostic deposit, just like if you drop off a car at the repair shop you pay an upfront Diagnostic Deposit. If you choose to complete a repair the deposit goes towards your repair. If you decide not to, then our techs and buyer are compensated for the time spent looking at your EV and sourcing parts. 3) Rate for repair, we have been one of the few shops in the city to offer EV repairs. With that is expertise in the field of repairs and understanding the time requirements to complete simple tasks like tire replacement. Though we value you as a client, we also value our technicians, staff, and ability to have market space in a very expensive city. Ontop of myself being paid to respond to inappropriate reviews. 4) Your leaving a negative review on a business before you have even recieved your products. I understand your frustrations. But really? Common sense says this is a bit over the top!! With this being said, we value you as a client, but with your choice to own a EV and to occasionally need repairs. In lieu of adding yourself to a bad customer list, you should remain calm, keep your seat belt fastened and be prepared for a safe landing instead of this extremely aggressive review on a business that is doing its best to support your choice to own an EV. Please please feel free to contact me with further questions or concerns. VR, Kyle@citybikes.com

Nate W: To preface this review, I was looking for a reliable commuter bike that wasn't going to take months to get more in stock. I reached out to both stores to find out if they had a particular bike I was looking for and I went to check it out the next day. Overall its a nice location and the two guys I interacted with were kind and helpful. I was able to test out a similar bike as the one I wanted needed to be assembled. I ended up purchasing the bike that Sunday so I didn't miss my chance. The process was fairly simple and they didn't try to upsell other things for the bike but I asked if they recommended anything and I ended up getting some tire inserts for a little bit of insurance. They informed me it would take 3-5 days for the assembly as there is a queue and I got a text that Friday that my bike is ready to be picked up. Although I wanted to get it that day, I needed to schedule a time for handoff which I did today (Saturday). I get there and almost immediately someone asked me how they can help and they get my bike ready to give me a tour and show me important processes. The guy showing me my bike was very knowledgeable and after, we talked for a little bit and he told he was advocating to some government officials for incentives for e-bikes. Although this might seem meaningless to some, its great to see someone who works in a store that sells e-bikes, rides an e-bike himself and is pushing for more access to them. I ended up meeting the general manager, Kyle, due to a payment issue but it was resolved in a couple minute and I was able to go on my way. If you're looking for high end e-bikes I recommend taking a look at their selection. To conclude, I had an excellent experience, I just wish I could remember names. Things to note, I don't believe you can call the store unless you request a call, its all by text. This isn't an issue for me but depending on how busy they are it can take a while to respond but I found it convenient. I'll update my review once I get my 100 mile and 1000 mile tunes that came with the bike but I have high hopes.
Response: Thanks Nate, it was a pleasure helping you, both Clarke and Paul send there regards and wish you well. Thanks, kyle@citybikes.com

Ronald Steele: City Bikes fixed my e-bike, replacing it's wiring harnest. I am grateful; many shops only repair what they sell; I bought the bike on Amazon. City Bikes is pricey, charging approximately $240 to replace a wiring harness. CB was patient since replacement harness had to be shipped from China, it took months. However, the replacement part could have been achieved sooner with clear telephonic communications. Since CB almost exclusively communicates by text, I was led to believe I needed two other wires and I waited for all to ship, when I had the wiring harness and was waiting on parts I really didn't need. I rather not deal with businesses who will take your money for a service but will not speak to a customer by phone, still the most efficient way of communicating with a customer.
Response: Hi Ronald, thanks for the review. We have no policy against verbal communication. You simply need to request a phone call. I don't see that request anywhere in your emails or texts. Illustrates why we prefer text or email. Forces records of communication. We do Charge $225hr to repair all personal EVs. The more economical a bike gets the more complicated the sourcing of parts and repair gets. We are specialists in personal EVs this is a rare trade. Please keep in mind we retain the right to refuse service. Leaving less then desirable reviews makes us nervous to take on future projects. We only give our best and we expect the best out of clients. If you have further comments or questions please reach out to me, VR, kyle@citybikes.com

Gearin' Up Bicycles: what do users think?

M B (M B): Had a great experience here! I went to one of their Saturday bike sales and was able to find a nice bike with the help of the staff! They also have a shop that you can go to for bike maintenance and to learn skills from the staff. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good bike in DC.

Brandon Sousa: Really happy with my experience here. I had a flat and they addressed it immediately, I was back on the road in 5 minutes. Reasonable prices, I think I paid $40 total for the tube, the tube change, and a new tougher tire, hopefully keeping the bits and bobs out of my ride.

Grant Sexton: Had several things fixed on my old Schwinn Traveler. The price for repair was great, and the customer service was as well. They gave me a very down to earth explanation of some of the problems on my bike too, which I appreciated because I often have trouble tracking with “bike guys.”

Aurora Williams: Love that this in an option in our community. Very affordable, professional, and quick service. Was in and out with a fixed bike within 30 minutes. Very happy to make the trek and support this organization.

Bryce McKibben: Awesome place to stop in for a quick repair. Got a flat and came in around 4pm, and it was done in 30 minutes. Amazing prices, too. Will be coming back here again!

Nastacia Moore: The guys are so friendly and knowledgeable. I brought my bike in same day and they fixed it on the spot. I highly recommend this place.

Ya'ara Robinzon: Great experience. Didn't find my bike but received wonderful service. Bought my kid a bike and got the helmet for free.

Diana Nguyen: Just after moving to DC, this is where I bought my trusty bike. I was received with great energy and just overall amazing service. They helped me out on fitting me with a bike, describing the details/repairs of said bike (ie Shimano STI shifters, hieght adjustment, etc.), etc.. By far the nicest bike I ever did buy. You know I really love it here because I ended up naming my bike, Keith.

Cale Magruder: these guys are awesome. hooked my friend up with a new bike cheap, and tightened up a loosening crank on my bike for free. great people :-)

Zbigniew Kostrzewski: Fantastic shop and mission! Quick affordable and pleasant service! Highly recommended, well worth some travel easy street parking! All in on this shop and its mission.

Papillon Cycles: what do users think?

Philip DeCosse: I've been coming here now for 3 years. Always excellent work whether tune-up, or a one-time problem, or advice on biking. No hard sell (unlike some of the corporate chain bike shops). Willing to do what is needed to get you on the road in a way that suits your biking needs.

Kathryn Wiley: Highly recommend! I brought in my 4-year old Fuji road bike for a tune-up and they must have done some magic because it rides smoother than even when I got it brand new. Thank you for the amazing service!

John McVay: I don’t trust anyone else with my bike! I’ve been going here since 2010 for bike repairs and have purchased two bicycles here.

Caroline Hoffmann: I went in to discuss a bike I wanted to purchase and the shop talked me out of buying it after listening to what I was looking for in a bike. Then, they fixed up my current bike (which I’d been looking to replace), found me a better rear rack, and helped adjust all of the problem spots. It is now a joy to ride and although this isn’t the closest shop to me, I’ll be bringing my bikes here from now on.

Isaac Foley: I live down the street (so perhaps I’m geographically biased) and this is my go-to bike shop. It helps that I can walk my bikes there, but I feel lucky and privileged to have these guys mere blocks away. I’ve been cycling for over a decade and got into doing my own work a few years ago, but when I need tools and experience I don’t have this is where I go. When it comes to repairs and maintenance, I don’t think you can find better prices or more honest, up-front service in Arlington. Anyone with a bike built before 2000 I would recommend you bring it here if you need anything done.

Jeffrey D: Great location with very helpful staff - prices and bike repair services are very responsible.

Kevin Hein: Jeff was super helpful. Answered all my questions and gave me a great deal on a used Trek. Shop has a friendly atmosphere. I was able to trade in my old bike.

Stephen Lyon: Great LBS. hooked me up with my BikeFlights shipment! Support local.

Astrid Rapp: So helpful! Glad to have a local shop that's such a pleasure to do business with.

Donald Forest: The staff and management of this bike shop are exceptionally attentive and skilled. Very good service at a very reasonable price. Their advice on my many bikes has saved me hundreds of dollars and time. I will not go to any other bike shop anywhere. Papillon Cycles beats all the overpriced shops hands down - service, quality, attention to detail - six stars!!!

ElectriCityBikes Tenleytown: what do users think?

Chanpen Tee: The guy here is really nice. He gives us a lot of helpful info about the electric bike that we are looking for. The store is very clean. There are a lot of electric bicycle brands and options.

Emma K Alexandra: I’ve taken my bike in for maintenance twice and had wonderful experiences both times. First time they discovered a large issue with my bike & worked with the manufacturer to replace it under warranty. Took a bit but I got a new bike out of it. A+ Second time was for simple maintenance. They fixed up my bike quickly and it feels brand new again. Super friendly staff. Would recommend this place to anyone. I would love if they had bike rentals available when I bring my bike in for maintenance. It’s my primary transportation and I truly miss the convenience of an ebike while it’s in the shop.
Response: Thanks Emma! Kyle@citybikes.com

Matt Evans: Late last year in 2021, I decided to ride my Neo Jumper E-Bike by this bike shop since I am in the market for a new e-bike. I was stunned at how "dis-interested" the Manager and other people came across when I asked about electric bikes. They showed little or no interest in trying to sell me an electric bike! I am retired with plenty of money in the bank and I was very open to spending the $ 8,000 for the German bikes in the shop. After waiting around for over 30 minutes, I walked out. The Manager walked to the back of the shop and never returned. I was floored at the "cold shoulder" treatment that these people take. Unreal! Needless to say - I would NOT recommend this bike shop to anyone considering a purchase. I ended up ordering a DOST bike from Canada which has 5 times better range at half the cost. If you want to buy an electric bike in the DC area, go some place else. This bike shop is NOT in the business of selling electric bikes. They are in the business of turning customers away.
Response: I find most of this fictional, maybe you are posting on behalf of another brand? Idk, but odd to rant months later. Take care of your mental health, thanks, Kyle

Erin Beard: I'm getting a bit fed up with the quality of tune-ups that I receive at ElectriCity bikes. I bought a Tern from this shop in January 2021. I have taken my bike back for scheduled tune-ups, as well as other minor repairs. My main dissatisfaction is that, within a month after a tune-up, I will have other issues that should have been caught in the tune-up, such as worn brake pads or out-of-balance wheels that resulted in a spoke coming loose. My bike is my main method of transportation, and if I have to take my bike back to the shop, I'm left without transportation. It has also been difficult to communicate with the shop. I really have sympathy for all who work there, because I'm sure that they are working hard and are very busy. But I'm not getting the quality of service that helps me to travel safely and without issue. I'm going to take my bike elsewhere from now on, even if it's out of my way. This is not to mention that the shop manager is very difficult to deal with. When I first expressed interest in a Tern, I was dissuaded from buying one because they have "small wheels". This was definitely strange to hear from a shop selling Terns, which are fantastic bikes! I've gotten better service from other shops that also sell electric bikes, and I'd rather go to a shop where my bike's condition isn't neglected and where I'm treated as a member of a community.
Response: Erin, we hope you found a shop to suit your needs, take care. Thanks for the past business, kyle@citybikes.com

Hind Tazi: I live in a hilly area, and had I gotten a regular bike like I originally wanted, it would've sat in the garage collecting dust. Instead of waiting out the pandemic supply-chain issues, ElectriCityBikes Tenleytown suggested I look into e-bikes, and I'm so glad they did. They asked a number of questions about how I planned to use the bike and directed me to one that met my needs. I appreciated that they never tried to upsell me but instead clearly answered my questions about the different models I was considering and let me make my own decision. I LOVE my bike and use it regularly for commuting and taking my kid to preschool. I've gone to ElectriCityBikes Tenleytown for routine tune-ups and highly recommend them for all your biking needs.

Manuel Paniagua: I am a regular at Electric City Bikes, and that is because I really enjoy working with Paul. He is always on top of my bicycle repair requests, never failing to follow up with me on work progress or any other pending orders. The staff in general is very knowledgeable and professional. The environment at the shop is always very welcoming and relaxed. I highly recommend them!

William: Very helpful and knowledgeable staff! Not pushy at all when you're test riding in terms of trying to make a sale but very helpful in terms of educating you about all the options. Clark helped us out when we were there and he was great. I will definitely buy an ebike here when it makes sense for me.
Response: Thanks, Kyle

Cynthia O: I had a great experience with Paul. He is extremely knowledgeable about all of the bikes and suggesting what would work for me and my lifestyle. He was always available to answer questions, and help me make the right decision. He even worked out delivery to NYC.
Response: Thanks, we appreciate you!! Reach out of you need anything!! Kyle@citybikes.com

Brian Robinson: Great shop, especially Paul, who knows absolutely everything about ebikes. Over the course of several visits, he answered all of my questions, and knew about all the various ebike manufacturers, and could compare and contrast the features of their bikes. And he's dedicated--he worked to address an issue on my bike for an hour after closing. I'd definitely recommend the shop.
Response: Brian, thank you for your kind words, VR, kyle@citybikes.com

Jason Odoom: I've been here atleast four times in the past couple of weeks and have had nothing but fantastic service. Norman and Jeff were great to interact with and highly knowledgeable. Though I live three miles away I continue to bring my bike because of their professionalism and quality of service.
Response: We appreciate your business, thanks Kyle

Vélocity Bicycle Cooperative: what do users think?

Stephanie Watson: Super friendly, knowledgeable staff, and fantastic experience! After explaining my bike needs, a specific bike was suggested perfect for my height. I took it for a little spin down the block and everything worked perfectly. I got to ride my new bike home and a great way to start the weekend!

A F: I’ve been coming here off and on for a decade or so and this is just about the best shop I’ve ever been to- not just for cycling, but for anything. Great people with a great mission, knowledgeable, fairly priced and very community oriented. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to donate, to buy a bike or cycling gear, or have work done, this is the place to go. I wish every shop was more like velocity

thomas braden: Update to my original review. Returned today as my son’s bike had a flat tire and needed a new brake handle. 30 minutes in and out - on a Saturday nonetheless! All for about $60 - a wonderful organization and team running this coop!! Every neighborhood should be so fortunate!! ————— Great people - great place - best free advise I've received in years! Stopped in today to get my son's bike fixed. He only just recently told me, "Dad, I love the bike, but the brakes don't really work and well, neither do the gear shifters!?!" (WTH??) Mike at the Bike Coop told me it's be more money than the bike is worth to repair it, he said go to Target and return it - it's not right and its just not safe! So I did, even though it was more than 90 days since I bought it, and amazingly Target gave me a full refund, no complaints or questions asked. I wouldn't have done this without your advise - thanks for keeping me from throwing my good money after bad! You guys rock!
Response: Thanks Thomas! Come back again soon!

Rashawnda Watson: We came in prepared to purchase a bike today. Sadly, we were ignored. Then, to add insult to injury, we were directed outside “where the used bikes are”. Now I’m no bike salesman, but that can’t be a good sales pitch. You failed today, Velocity.
Response: Rashawnda, I’m sorry for the poor service. I understand how frustrating that must have been. Like most everyone at Vélocity, I’m one of the volunteers. I’d be interested in further discussing your experience if you’re open for a phone call. Please feel free to call me if you’d like. Lastly, in the event no one mentioned it to you, we only sell used bicycle and they our outside the shop. The bicycles inside are customers bike awaiting repairs. It's disappointing that our team didn't clarify with you that we only sell used bikes and point you in the direction of a bike shop with new bikes. Bayley Vanderpoel Velocity Board Member and volunteer tel:703-863-4464

Duvalier Hernandez: Great spot, so many cool things going on. Its a bike geek dream, parts galore. Thanks to the team that saved my ride with an allen wrench to remove my pedals.

Andrew Zembala: The team was really helpful, and encourages people to learn how to work on their own bikes. They offer great service and both new and used parts. I'll definitely be back for any tune-ups or parts I need in the future.

USofC at: Great for home mechanics in need of older parts or tools. I love coming here for odds and ends. If you know what your looking for, there's a great chance you'll something at a very reasonable price. I recently came in with a VooDoo frameset and was able to buy and install and headset, bottom bracket and a few other bits. I got a terrific deal on some cranks along with cables/housing. I was able get most of the tricky install stuff done in the shop under an hour. They have all the tools for bottombrackets, brakes, etc. I've even laced up hand-built wheels and finished tensioning them up here with their tools (15$/hour or visit which is a bargain for having full access to so many tools) The staff are knowledgable and enthusiastic to walk you through a repair. Of course, it can get busy so dont go in on a warm, sunny Saturday and expect handholding. Love this place. Please be here forever.
Response: Thanks for the kind words! Sounds like you've been able to enjoy a lot of what we have to offer. Happy trails!

M Alspaugh: I discovered this place about a year ago when I was looking for a bike that wouldn't break my bank account and 3 of the family members wanted bikes. I also later needed a reliable place to go to as I have absolutely no idea how to repair or maintenance bikes. The staff are good humored, reliable, and honest. Their repairs and advice, and overall, willingness to teach my 14 year old son how to repair his own bike ( and how to avoid breaking it more than necessary) is impressive. I have been exceedingly pleased with both their service and their products. I have gotten a (new) bike for my son as he managed to outgrow last year's bike and also break it permanently in the process. The bike he got was a considerable upgrade and is fantastic. I have never had the issues with the store like one of the reviews. They have always been open when the website says it is. A gem in our community. In a community where generally one throws things away rather than gets quality and repairs it, this store is truly important to support and value. Outstanding.

Chris Jones: This is a great bike shop - friendly, awesome prices, and a very knowledgeable staff. In my case, my bike has old, hard-to-adjust cantilever brakes. The mechanics were able to adjust them perfectly - something three other shops couldn't do - and they only charged me $15! They did it while I waited, so I had a chance to watch them interact with a bunch of customers. With each one they listened to what they wanted, did their best to find them the right bike or part, and tried to get them the best value possible. Just bear in mind that they only do used bikes and gear. It is a great place to get a practical commuter, Sunday cruiser, or cool retro ride, and is also a good source for used and tough-to-locate older parts. You aren't going to find a $5,000 carbon fiber racer, but there are plenty of other options in the area if that is what you're looking for.
Response: Thanks for the love! We really appreciate the feedback.

Mariam Gimbi: Wow highly respect well done, best customer service plus advise I saved almost a lot of money, @ the end I only paid $80.00, thanks again, for everything wish you the best, wow🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🙏👌👌👌💯💯💯💯

Griffin Cycle Inc: what do users think?

David Lipscomb: Griffin has made it easy and worry-free to own & commute via an electric bike. When I was shopping for an e-bike 2 and 1/2 years ago, I almost went the online route -- since there were/are cheaper, well-reviewed options out there. Fortunately, I realized I needed a reliable, local shop if I was going to sustain my move to bike commuting, beyond the purchase. For the past 2+ years -- even during the pandemic -- the staff at Griffin has supported me with tune-ups and tons of advice. Love walking in to that place. Great people.

Ben Landers: I bought a high-end road bike from Griffin, and I've also used them for service. My experience has been exceptional - both sales and service. Their employees are responsive and communicative. They follow up and follow through on promises made. Deadlines set have always been met. All of this is FAR above and beyond the "typical" local retail experience.

Bernard Wagman: They were extremely helpful in fitting me with a new bicycle and gave a great follow up service. I have recommended them to others and plan to bring my family back in for more bicycles. Their service department is excellent as well. Very fair and accommodating

Steven Tender: Great independent bike store. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Go there for bike service, you will not be disappointed. 💯🚴‍♂️

Anthony Lentine: Every time that I go there, I get help, good advice and quick service. Last time I was having trouble with my right shifting mechanism that I have never experienced. Bert took my bike and with the cold weather, the grease was so thick the shift would not engage; a new one for me. He quickly fixed the defect and I was on my way. The store is a true warm spot for all levels of cyclist. Thanks for being there!

Nick Eddy: Went in for the 3rd or 4th time today, never had a bad experience. Reasonable prices, capable, helpful employees. I worked as a mechanic from 1986-1997 at 3 bike shops in Northern Virginia, one in DC, and 3 in Colorado, so I have a reasonably informed idea of what goes on in a bike shop. The gentleman below who felt insulted because he was told his bike wasn't worth working on needs to understand - cheap bikes use low-quality parts and are poorly assembled, first at the factory and then at the dealer/department store before you take possession. It's actually much harder to work on such bikes, and there's no guarantee that even a highly-experienced mechanic can produce a reliable adjustment that will last a reasonable amount of time. This may have been poorly-expressed to you, but I wouldn't call it an example of toxic bike culture.

Frank Pawlicki: the bike rental was handled very professionally. the bike was prepped with the proper SPD peddles when i arrived to pick the bike up, i was fitted, and given directions regarding local cycling routes. the bike performed well through out the week averaging 40 miles a day on the local ride routes. bike return was handled equally well. One issue that did come up was the lack of a flat kit with a pump or CO2 for refilling the flat tire, turns out it was a new employee education issue. it was a great experience.

Jacques Taty: Great staff.. highly knowledgeable, patient, friendly and extremely professional.I recommend them strongly. We are a biking family of 4 and Griffin is our one stop shop for everything bike related.

Diane Weil: I have been a customer at Griffin Cycles for years. They have always had great customer service and do an excellent job with bike repair service. Recently I ordered a small top tube bag that had to be specially ordered from a store in California because the company is no longer widely distributing them, and they were "right on it !" Thanks Griffin Cycles ! Diane Weil Bethesda, Maryland

Valerie Rouxel-Laxton: Hi! I love my bike and cycling has become a second nature to me. Whenever it needs a tune-up, Griffin cycle has been my go-to for a number of years. Service is top notch, folks are extremely courteous and I always walk out with great additional advice. Way to go!

Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Matt Weiner: I love this place. The shop is well stocked with a variety of complete bikes from varied manufacturers (rather than a single company like many competitors in the area) and assorted spare parts, kit, food, and other goodies. I had my first bike fit here and Jordan went far beyond what I was anticipating to help me get a perfect fit with no discomfort. The maintenance staff are very knowledgeable and will readily offer advice and guidance to new cyclists and old pros alike, rather than just trying to sell you a replacement part. There are always other customers in the store, but never so many that you feel like you are lost in a crowd; a team member will always be available to assist you. Of all the bike stores in NOVA, this is the place I plan to continue to go to.
Response: This is what we aim for! Thank you for such a great review, Matt!

Blair Schiff: I do not typically post reviews, but I have to in this instance. I was blown away by the service and attention provided by Mike (the store manager) and T (the head mechanic). They were patient answering my questions, very informative and knowledgeable about my bike (despite having purchased it at another shop), solved my braking and tubeless tire problem with creative solutions, and taught me how to look for issues on my bike as well as how to fix them. In short, they were everything you want in your local bike shop. I cannot recommend them enough and they certainly have all of my future business.
Response: We aim to please. Thanks for noticing, Blair!

Dylan Sandlin: I’ve been to this shop close to a dozen times for both minor adjustments and larger servicing/maintenance and to shop for other cycling stuff and this Conte’s does it better than any shop I’ve been to in the greater DMV area. Their service is excellent, and T has helped me on numerous occasions. Super great, friendly guy and very knowledgeable! Also, they have a really good inventory of bikes, parts, apparel, and gels/food so I can make a quick pit stop and get anything I may need while I’m out on a ride. Highly recommend this shop!
Response: Thanks so much Dylan!

Wendy Cho: Shout out to Renee!!! As a beginner cyclist, me and my husband was so lost. We went to 5 different bike shops, and We finally ended up buying both of our bikes here. Renee is so knowledgeable and very professional. She knew exactly what we needed. She gave us good advice on how to pick a bike to how to take care of it. She’s like a mom. She knows what’s the best for you!
Response: Thank you, Wendy! We love to hear stories like this.

Spence Petersen: If you're ever not sure about a noise your bike is making or you have any kind of maintenance you need done, this is the place to go. Everyone at the store is super friendly and knowledgeable, and it's always just a pleasure going in. T and the mechanic team just helped me with a warranty replacement for a SRAM derailleur and the whole process could not have gone smoother. They got me up and riding again just hours after the replacement derailleur showed up at the shop. Thanks again guys!
Response: T is great. Thanks for trusting us and for the great review, Spence!

Sam Reale: I come in here frequently since moving to the area 4 years ago, and highly recommend it! Great staff (Sweet T lubed up my chains and tightened my water bottle holder free of charge). Has a great neighborhood feel, knowledgeable people who genuinely love bikes, and high tech resources.
Response: Thanks for the review and the kind words, Sam!

Jeffrey Piper: Best Bike Shop Around. I purchased my Cannondale from them years ago. Recently my rear wheel developed a few cracks (found by another shop who told me I needed to buy a new wheel). After a search online I found my wheel should have still been under warranty, but could not find anyway to contact the manufacturer. I went in to Conte's to see if they could help, and Mathew took over from there. He spear headed the warranty claim through the manufacturer and all I had to do was send him a few photos. A few weeks later I'm sitting on a brand new wheel and ready to roll. I feel many shops in the area would have been dismissive of my issue, but Mathew and Conte's went above and beyond even though I haven't been a customer there for years. Don't hesitate to give this knowledgeable and friendly shop your business. Ride On!

Bobby Ghadery: Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. I’ve been in several times for various reasons from questions to service. Sweet T in their shop helped me quickly fix an issue with my bike today, and I’ve also had a great experience with Mike and several others on the team both in their shop and on the floor. If you need a trustworthy, friendly and professional bike shop, come here!

Marissa Block: I had a small issue with my breaks, so I took my bike over to the shop during my lunch break and my bike was fixed within 30 minutes. I'm still learning about my bike, so I am always intimidated to ask questions, but Mathew was great! He took the time to explain the issue to me and how he would fix it. He also showed me how to lube my chain, which I really appreciated. Thanks for the great service!
Response: Thanks for the review, Marissa! Keep that chain lubed and remember we're here to help with anything else you need!

Duncan: After a lot of research and visits to many shops in search of a new road bike, I purchased my Giant Defy from Conte's in 2016. The team - both sales and service depts - was consistently outstanding, and I was able to get a very good deal on the Defy, including an upgrade to a Di2 electronic derailleur setup. Five years later, and my Defy is still going strong! Thanks, Conte's!
Response: Love to hear it! Thanks for the review, Duncan!

Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Christopher McHugh: I had a full RETUL fitting with Clark at the Falls Church location on February 24, 2022. He was very knowledgeable and carefully considered my input. He answered many questions during the process concerning my set up and how my bike interacts with the body. Also they called in their master mechanic, Bob, several times to wrench on my ride. Awesome experience and excellent results.

Doug Greene: Great thanks to Richard this morning! I arrived at the shop (first visit) thinking I had a problem with the front tire valve. Richard expertly took a look and advised me of the actual issue, which we quickly corrected. He put air in the tires to spec and I was back onto the WO&D after only five minutes. I’ll be back to Conte’s, for sure!

S N: Stopped in for a quick service today on a bike I bought here a couple of months ago. They were able to quickly fix a few minor issues that had popped up during the break-in period. Good location with knowledgeable professionals and store layout that lets you find what you need quickly. This location is just a few hundred feet from the w&od trail in Falls Church and very convenient by bike.

Louis Rother: I brought my bike in to have a flat tire fixed and it was ready in 15 minutes. I expected to have to leave it for days, but they were very fast. I will definitly go back to the Falls Church shop next time I need any work done or need any accessories. I highly recommend Conte's bike shop.

Bonnie McCloskey: 3 days ago I bought a 19fiftyseven cruiser from the Conte's in Falls Church. I love the bike, but when I shift to the the 4th, 5th, and 6th gears there is a banging sound. I brought the bike back to the Falls Church Conte's to get the gears adjusted. The guy working on my bike said that he adjusted the chain guard. I still have the same problem with the 4th, 5th, and 6th gears banging. A brand new bike should work perfectly out of the box.
Response: Our mechanics identified some play in the bike's freehub. We have ensured the bike is ridable and are currently working on a long-term solution for Bonnie.

Elspeth Payne: I came down to Conte’s from Silver Spring for a bike fitting with Becky Puritz. I’m not a performance rider, but I like to tour so I spend a lot of hours in my saddle. I was scheduled for the basic fitting. Becky started by measuring my feet - not just my shoe size, but where certain bones ended, how my weight shifts, lots of very specific measurements. She made a lot of small tweaks - made my shoes a more stable platform, moved my cleats back a bit, got the right size saddle, lowered and changed the angle of my handlebars and shifters, things like that. Becky was very thorough. One of the shop mechanics came in to help make a couple of changes too. It doesn’t feel like a new bike exactly, but it is definitely more comfortable post-fitting. I really notice that my shoulders and upper back stay relaxed now, and I’m not putting as much weight on my hands. I can reach both the shifters and my brakes much more comfortably. The fitting was worth the price and I wish I had had it done sooner!

Hugh Newcomb: Went earlier this week for a bike fitting with Becky. It seems like everybody here agrees, Becky is the BEST. She is knowledgeable, personable, and excellent at her job. The time flew by, and she made sure that she knew exactly what I was hoping to get out of our time, and that we achieved those goals and my future riding will be more comfortable and more efficient. My only disappointment is that I didn’t know about Conte’s and Becky a year ago when I started riding!

Alex Benitez: Great service! Very knowledgeable! Good place to bring your bike to repairs and nice new bikes too. My go to bike shop 👍🏼

Eli Mel: 8/26 My bike was making a clicking noise Bob did a quick once over and told me it was the peddles. I was in and out before I knew what was happened and now my bike runs more smoothly and he tighten the brakes too. Thank you Bob you're AWESOME! 7/21 I thought I need a New Cassettes (gears) for the front and back, a new chain and my back tire is starting to fall apart (according to Spokes in Vienna). Adam (bike mechanic) rode my bike and said I'm fine. He just saved me $200-600 according to various bike places around town. Thank YOU ADAM you're AWESOME!!!!! He also told me about a regular events where they show you the area. When I need work done on my bike I'm coming to you. This is the best customer services I've ever had and I've been riding for 15 years! While Adam was riding my bike I talked to Richard who told me they do fitting at the store and they have 16 stores in the area and a Warehouse in the area. They have a HUGE selection and they update their website every 12hrs! I have friends who are trying to buy bikes and can't find anything! THIS IS THE PLACE TO GET WHAT YOU NEED. p.s. Luke at the end was nice and friendly.
Response: Thank you so much for the thorough review, Eli! We are happy to have helped you out and even save you a few bucks!

Andy Johnson: This is my first time dealing with Conte's bike shop. I bought a ebike that was delivered with some issues. Long story short! Bob and Adam we're great with me and they understood my issues and had lots of patience with me and dealing with the company that made my bike and getting parts. They even help with pictures so I can send it to the Mani factor. Well it all came together very nicely and My wife and I did a 30 mile ride this past weekend and all is good.

Eric's Mobile Workshop Bike Repair: what do users think?

JuDonn DeShields: I ordered two bikes and was looking for someone local who could assemble them for me. I had a bad experience with a well-known bike store recently-- and wanted to go in a different direction. Enter Eric. Communication was on point from the start. Once he arrived, Eric got right to work and worked quickly! He completed my 2 bikes in less than 2 hours. Once complete, he walked me through all of the things he did, the parts that the company failed to include, and ways that he could help to make it right. All told, I'm really happy that I went with Eric. He's down to earth, serious and knowledgable about bikes, and looks out for his clients. Highly recommend him and his services! Happy customer.
Response: JuDonn, thanks so much for the review. Enjoy the bikes and keep in touch for further repairs!

Angela Gladue: Eric is kind and courteous and very professional. He assembled my bike in a short amount of time and provided all the tools to get the job done. I am extremely happy with the outcome and would recommend Eric's services if you're in need of a great bike assembly or repair. Thanks for your help Eric!
Response: Angela, such a pleasure meeting you. Thanks for your music recommendations! ☺️

Megan Wiegand: Eric did a fabulous job tuning up my bike after two-plus years of pandemic neglect. I haven't had the best experiences with some of the other bike shops in town, so Eric's clear communication, friendly demeanor, and straightforward explanations for what needed fixing were a very welcome change of pace. I'm now a loyal customer. Highly recommend Eric!
Response: Megan, thank you for this kind review. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you start having any issues at all.

Dallas Kiefer: After many issues of dealing with bike shops doing the bare minimum on my Kona Hybrid, I decided to reach out to Eric for a tune up, new chain, and new pedals. Eric offered extreme flexibility to bring my bike to him for repairs. I was very patient since previous reviews stated that his work is very thorough, and they were nothing but right! Eric maintained great communication along the way through text. He did an excellent job at the tune up, and chain and pedal replacements and provided me with insightful feedback of how to maintain the longevity of the bike. Best part, I paid less than what I would at some of these bike shops I have taken my bike to. Eric does honest work and is such a nice and humble person. Highly recommend using him for any of your bike's needs.
Response: Dallas, thank you for the kind review. Please reach out again in the future for further assistance!

Aimee Norwood: Eric traveled out to Loudoun County to tune-up all of our family bikes. He was super professional and clearly exceptionally knowledgeable about bikes. He knew quite a bit about each of our four different bikes. He was interesting to talk to and I appreciated the care he took with each of our bikes. I will be highly recommending him to all my friends needing bike repair and tune-up.
Response: Aimee, thanks so much for the review! Such a pleasure meeting you and your family. Keep in touch!

Saaj Visaria: Eric did a great job on my bike and also provided recommendations for future upkeep that I hadn’t considered. This convenience is so fairly priced, I’ll be sure to contact Eric for any other issues I have with my bike!
Response: Saaj, pleasure meeting you today. Glad I could take care of these issues for you. Please reach out again in the future if you have any other repair needs.

Boluwatito Oladeinde: **edited Eric deserves all the 5 stars possible. He reached out to me after seeing my earlier review and we were able to set up a quick appointment for a convenient time for both of us. He was really kind and understanding. He got my bike assembled and used some of his personal items. His price was also really fair. I had a great experience 10/10 would recommend —- I haven’t been able to utilize Eric’s service yet but from the general review, I can conclude his services must be good. I will suggest that he kindly updates the address listed on google maps because the address routes me to a residential apartment and I have come there twice now just as a waste of time. I would also suggest if he could hire someone (or other people) to manage his communications because it sucks to have to wait multiple days to receive a reply back to your text and also be never able to get in touch with him via calling within his working hours. I really want to be a regular customer at Eric’s but it’s very frustrating to be unable to get in contact with him via call or text. I will update my review (to the 5 star i believe he deserves) once he gets back to me and helps me with my bike! :)
Response: Bolu, thanks for the review! Glad I could help out.

Romeo Arahan: Eric was easy to communicate with. He regularly updated his whereabouts and arrived at the expected time of appointment. He did not mind that I was watching while doing the tune-up. In fact, he was amenable to that and started explaining how each part could affect the speed and longevity of my bike. I was very satisfied with the overall service and I will definitely book him again if I encounter issues with my bike!
Response: Romeo, thanks for the kind review! Glad I could help.

roger depaz: Eric was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional when fixing my e-bike! I would call him again in a heart beat! I would also recommend him to anyone looking to get their bike fixed! Thanks, Eric!
Response: Roger, thanks so much! Good working with you.

Carol Bruna: Eric it was such a pleasure to have you work on my E-bike! I thought it was done for and then enter Eric! He was able to fixed it and literally save my life! I highly recommend him to fix anyone’s bike. Thank you very much!
Response: Carol, thank you so much! Pleasure working with me.

Conte's Bike Shop: what do users think?

Jamie Brennan: Cole, especially, was easy to talk to about my amateur bike issues. He had an educational approach and fair from a cost perspective—my brakes just needed tightened. But he helped me realized that and showed me how to do it myself for next time. I visit every so often, and their customer service has been consistently kind and professional!

vicdn3: I am very much satisfied with the service I received at the shop. The job was done very promptly. Mechanic P. Gonzales was very professional, and pleasant to deal with. I felt like I came to a friend of mine whom I know for years. I would recommend the shop to a friend and to all the cyclists in the area!

Brenda Fleming: Thank you to Cole and Raven who organised last minute bike hire for us. The bikes were in excellent condition and came with the helmet and lock included. Staff have great customer skills and a really good sense of humour. I would certainly recommend.
Response: Happy it worked out! Come see us next time you're in town.

Bradley Saull: During this busy holiday season, I got a flat on a nice warm morning. I didn't really have time or the supplies to address that day. I took the tire to the shop on my way to my evening event. They had what I needed. I asked if they could just change it for me and I could pick up later. Within a few hours that same day, they got it done and my wife picked it up before closing. I always have enjoyed the friendly, quality service from Conte's Bike Shop - Old Town. Thanks to Cole, Pinky, and the entire staff that keep me rolling!

Adyel Duran: Visited here for the first time today. Cole immediately made us feel welcomed and helped us install a couple of items that we purchased on my bike. Will definitely be returning for anything I need for my bike. Cole is the man!
Response: Cole is great. See you again soon, Adyel!

Toby Smith: I went here to buy inner tubes. Guy at the desk asked what kind of bike I had, and then proceeded to make fun of me for getting one from a big box store. Yeah yeah, they're not the best bikes out there, I know. Not everyone has $1000+ to spend just so they can go for an occasional bike ride.
Response: Hi, Toby. We are sorry to hear of your interaction with us. We love all bikes and want everyone's journey to be as happy as possible. We're sorry we didn't give you that feeling when you were in our shop. We'd love it if you gave us another chance to win your business back. Please email d.rodgers@contebikes.com if you'd like to share more about your visit. Thank you!

Patrick Shaw: My wife and I came in on a Saturday afternoon to get our mountain bikes adjusted. We received superb immediate attention and service. The bikes were ready in about 45 minutes and off we went, riding again!

Neal ASHBY: Conte's is a great addition to the Old Town experience. I'm always greeted with a smile, the selection of bike brands are great, and they even carry Rapha gear now. Even though the bike they built for me had some technical issues, they have stuck with me and continue to do everything they can to make it right. I feel really lucky to call Conte's my LBS ("local bike shop" to non-bike addicts).
Response: Thanks for the solid review, Neal! So glad we have you as a customer!

Musil Mark: Glad to get a bike here! Very helpful and I'm happy to have gotten a new one here.

Mike “Bonjo” B: I have a Windsor knight I bought about 10 yrs ago. I use my bike to get to and from work. Well I had moved to a new position that I had to use the car to get to. The bike sat in storage for 4-5 yrs. I got offered another position and took in my bike to basically bring it back to life. It's back and running beautifully. I really appreciate what they did for my bike and my chance to ride again without having to buy a new bike. They did a level 2 tune up, changed my tires and replaced a cable. I got 13 miles in for my ride to work. It felt good. I however did not after not riding for so long.
Response: Thanks for trusting us to get your bike back in goo working condition! Hope the commute's going better after a few weeks of riding!

REI Co-op: what do users think?

Michael Brown: As a company, REI should not inflict their political beliefs onto customers. That said, they carry good gear and this particular location is fantastic. Every time I have come here they have exactly what I need. The staff are friendly and helpful and generally knowledgeable. I don’t know who makes REI branded clothes and gear, but they do a good job.

Mike R: I like this store for so many reasons. First: they have excellent customer service. Today I walked in with my bike to get my flat tire fixed. A woman approached me and signed me in. Then a man walked up to me and asked if I would like to him to park my bike. I was appalled by this gesture. Second: This establishment has everything here. I mean like… leave that bike area if you want to. You will be buying anything from energy gel to underwear. Third: conveniently located right beside the metro.

Anne Probst: Thank you Jeremy in cycling for taking care of my bike I commute on. Haley assisted and was down to earth and happy. High five to Micah in footwear who helped me find a size in a scarpa I haven’t been able to find in stores in 4 years. He’s super knowledgeable and was connecting with all the customers. Thank you REI DC!

Patrick F.: The 2 stars is not for the products, it's for the lack of service. Lord forbid you need some help. I waited forever even after pushing this button (photo) and a guy that was helping someone else acknowledged they heard me and would be coming. Still waiting as I type this. FYI, I have purched thousands from this store....sigh!!

Louisa Buatti: I visited REI for the first time since the pandemic began. My pick up of an online order went very smoothly. Every staff person I encountered was friendly and helpful--they all offered to direct me to the customer service/pick up area. I was in and out of the store in a flash.

Andrea Wu: I came here to pick up my shoes that I ordered online, and after trying them out in nature, they were too big so I came back to return and get new ones. The staff helping me was very helpful, bringing me different shoes for me to try on. I finally got a pair that fit properly, and checkout was pretty speedy too. Parking on the street might be a bit tough, but it's not too bad!

H Gill: Great store! love REI… but checking out here is always a 15 min wait. The checkout line moves at a snail’s pace, and the managers/supervisors don’t seem to care. I’ve seen customers put items down and leave out of frustration.

Rebecca Tolbert: Generally a good store, but the parking situation is currently very weird. You park in the parking deck and then have to walk all the way around a whole city block because they have blocked off the elevator and stairs. So, you drive into the parking deck and then have this surprise journey ahead of you, through a sketchy alley and everything. Just wanted to give other customers a heads up!

Ben Layton: Bike shop effectively closes at 6:30, not 7:00, since you have to get on a wait-list to get the bike checked in and the wait-list closes at 6:30. Called in advance and told them when I'd get there and they didn't mention that, so came all the way here for nothing. Turnaround on basic repairs also 9-10 days rn, which is honestly nuts.

R: Oddly enough they aren’t dog friendly yet I saw a pitbull walking around without a service vest. The area around is horrendous, good luck finding a parking spot. Really disappointed that REIs aren’t dog friendly yet their competitors REI and Bass Pro is.

Bikenetic Full Service Bicycle Shop: what do users think?

Thi Doan: I haven’t written many reviews lately but this shop definitely deserves to be notice. Brian has helped me out so much in the past week I could kiss the guy if my wife wouldn’t beat me from jealousy. First he tuned parts of the bike in minutes when I suffered trying to fix it for hours, then I brought in a bike trainer and he helped me set that up. All of this without any hesitation and world class customer service. I usually just go to the big box stores like REI and Spokes but never again. This shop was amazingly fair with their pricing and exceptionally helpful with all my crazy needs. My bike works perfectly now and so does the trainer. Thank goodness I took it to them. Everyone at the shop deserves recognition for being wonderfully helpful. Thank you so much!!!

Adam Jenkins: Super friendly, easy going staff, very knowledgeable and will give their opinion when asked. Was buying a commuter bike and knew what I was looking for, no pushy salesmanship and they put all of the gear while I waited. Definitely happy that I found a really solid shop. Also, as an added bonus there is a trail right next to the shop so test riding is super simple.

Nicco Page: Amazing service! I broke a couple spokes with my ulock by accident. I was devastated. I use my bike everyday to commute from Arlington to DC for work. My bike makes my everyday life so much easier instead of wasting money on uber or using the forever failing metro. I wasn’t trying to rush them to do my bike but I probably came off that way, sorry. But nonetheless they finished my bike in 2 days and it seems to be riding great! I really appreciate the care and welcoming energy they gave to me. I think this will be my new bike shop! Again…..I truly appreciate them helping me and getting my bike back in good working condition!

Luther Swift: A real neighborhood bike shop that is family owned and operated. The staff is integrated into the community, supporting the other local businesses as well as sponsoring a number of rides and races for the bicycle community. They love bikes and they want you to also.

Thomas Grady: These folks and this shop are great. I used them a few years back to do a full restoration on a collector bike I have--a Trek Jetta. It came out beautiful, so when I had a current problem, I contacted them. I bought an electric bike on Amazon for my wife for her birthday. They sent the "expert assembly" person to put it together. At the end of day one, he wasn't done. (This was on February 9th, my wife's birthday is the 10th). So, it wasn't ready for her birthday. He scheduled another visit for a week later. Then, he was at my house for four and a half hours, and the bike still wasn't street ready! By now I was about to explode! I called Bikenetic. They said, "Sure, we'll get it hooked up!" They did, and the first time too! For an extra charge they also picked it up and dropped it back off. The bike looks great, it works, my wife is happy, and I'm happy enough to sit here and write this review.

Suzanne Durrant: I've looked at several bikes shops in 2 states and they are the first to have exactly what I was looking for! The price beat all the other shops as well. Once he said they had free tune ups life, I was sold and bought it the same day. He was very helpful in picking out my first real bike for races. He explained things well, but didn't talk down to me (like other bike shops). Very pleased and will recommend to friends!

Robert C: I bought a Kona Mountain bike here several years ago. Had to bring it in for service today. I have an issue with the back tire popping often. Had been told at the shop before that it was bad luck and they made upgrades to and fixed the tire tube each time. Today there was some of that same talk about luck but not as much. Was shown that the tire was low even though it felt ok to the touch to me. I will start a routine as a result of my visit today of checking the exact tire pressure before every ride. 45 psi. Also that the valve stem is very straight and has not slipped. Service here is good and friendly. I hope they have solved the problem i have been having with this last visit to their shop.

Matt Kralovec: This place doesn’t need another five star review, but I’ll throw one out anyway. Incredibly personal and non-intimidating service got me riding in under an hour with my perfect (albeit not super high end) bike. Treated this relative newbie as they treat bigger spenders. Doesn’t have the same sterilized feel as most shops in the area. What a shop!

Jake Reid: I took my bike in when the derailleur bent and broke and was greeted by Helen who ensured I was set up before leaving my bike. She researched the bike, the parts needed, figured out there was one part available in the store and was able to provide an accurate estimate of time for repair which thankfully was a week. Upon returning to pick up the bike, I decided to get some shoes and I forget the guy's name who helped me, but he took 10 minutes out of his day to help me find the right shoes and fit and then set my bike up and let me test it all out before leaving. This is the definition of a local bike shop, from experts who share knowledge to putting the repair section right in front when you walk in so everyone can help customers and work on bikes. I will definitely be returning here for all my bike needs.

Catherine Im: Walked in with only rudimentary knowledge of bikes--needed something small enough to fit my short, short legs. The gentleman who helped me was professional from the start, immediately offering me an option that fit my criteria for usage and size. Though I didn't purchase anything, I would feel comfortable going back to do so in the future! For the people reading this during the pandemic, the shop requires face coverings and adheres to 6 foot social distancing guidelines. Great vibes all around!

Proteus Bicycles: what do users think?

Sarah OMalley: Absolutely amazing experience. Laurie was personable, worked with my budget, and got me on the bike of my DREAMS while educating me along the way! I cannot recommend Proteus enough. Don’t mess around with online vendors, let a professional team get you set up! Come for the bikes, stay for the in-shop coffee :)
Response: Thanks Sarah! It was an absolute pleasure working with you today! Please come back to visit!

Recon DMV: Exceptional Service. Laurie was professional and knowledgeable. Family owned business. They had everything I wanted. Also the bike I wanted and set it up for me. I will be going back and highly recommended. I even got a coffee. Most important, reasonable prices. 3/22- I went back a few more times. I even purchased another bike. The customer service is exceptional. After my 1st Trail Ride, I thought I blew the seals on the forks. They checked it out & got me back on the road. Highly recommended
Response: Thank you for the feedback and thanks for shopping at Proteus! We hope you’re enjoying your new bike!

Bethany Gresser: Excellent service! I was greeted immediately and brought me to Duncan to help me get a new red light for the back of my bike. He was very friendly and he worked with despite my not knowing all that much about bikes. He made a recommendation based on what I told him I needed, he showed me a couple different spots where it could be mounted, then he installed it right there. He also answered a couple other questions I had about about bikes that had nothing to do with my purchase. I highly recommend Proteus Bicycles in College Park, MD!
Response: Thanks for the feedback Bethany and thanks for shopping at Proteus! We hope to see you again soon!

Sreyas Sourav: I set out to buy a bike for daily use and stumbled upon Proteus since it had excellent reviews and was better than the one available near campus. My rep was excellent , he helped me out and was patient and answered my questions and even threw few perks. Highly recommend .
Response: We hope you enjoy your new bike! Thanks for your kind words. Happy riding!

Mr. G: Stopped by to get some bike wash with 5 minutes till closing time. Not only did they help me with that, but they offered and fixed my sons bike. The crew stayed late to get it done. They swapped his worn out tire and tube and fixed his brake cable. I think it was a little pricy but I'm not an everyday bike rider so what do I know. They helped me out and did it fast.

Jayid: Very courteous and professional staff member. Had a pleasant experience shopping for my bike. Highly recommend.

Terrence Sanchez: I always go here to get my bicycle needs especially when I need to get my mountain bike fixed. Bunch of cool and nice people here! The coffee shop is a great addition as well. Grab a cup of coffee while waiting for your bike to get fixed? Sure! Def recommend
Response: Thanks for your business! We’re happy to keep you riding!

Tru Blu: Since everyone's getting active on their bicycles, I decided to do the same. Heard good things from this shop and stopped in. Ben's service and knowledge of what I need was extended w/friendly expression (under face mask) and professional service. Service completed under 30'min...THANK YOU!!
Response: Glad we could help!

seancday: I purchased a road bike from Proteus. I used their website to make the purchase and went to the store to pick up. Tremendous service. Laurie was excellent. Knowledgeable and friendly. I arrived after a store group ride had finished so a lot of the regulars were out front and it was a friendly community. I live pretty far from the store or it would be my local shop (always have a local shop if you bike).
Response: Thanks Sean! It was great to meet you and Jack! Hope to see you again soon! - Laurie

Keith Baker: Great experience. Dropped my bike off for repairs/adjustments and it was ready 2 hours later. Professional service at a great price!
