VIDA Fitness U Street: what do users think?

Benyam Ephrem: Overall: Solid gym, nothing is overtly missing. You can do everything you need to do. Summary: Basically 3 floors, cardio floor, machine + dumbbell floor, powerlifting floor (w/ dumbbell rack). Good: The ambiance and vibe is good. You feel like you are working out in a cave with a bunch of people. Bad: - Working out from 5-6/7 sucks. The gym is too small to serve the load of patrons at rush times. There aren’t enough benches & benches for presses so you find yourself waiting for major lifts. - If you go any other time that is non-rush it is a solid gym - The benches are way too close to the mirrors, you can’t do heavy lifts and drop weights. It just feels cramped. You have to maneuver around people doing heavy lifts and there are just personal space issues (when squatting I don’t want anyone near me, we have mental bubbles). - Maybe picky but the dumbbells are decent ones. I’ve used better with more grip (steel handle with a mesh pattern etched in). They are a bit narrow in grip and have plastic handles with decent grip. This nuance is kind of annoying and grip is worse so I just do few dumbbell movements now. I’d give ~3 1/2 stars but I imagine there is a huge constraint on real-estate within the city so a gym can only be so large, etc (can’t compare it to gyms I’ve been to elsewhere). But at ~$120/130/mo you’d want more space and just…more. But this was the closest complete gym option to me (.8 mile jog) and the vibes are good. Edit: Have visited all other branches. Nice to be able to switch up gyms on a day you have time to jog farther. Great branding & vibe consistency. Great value add if you want to switch things up and drop in other gyms.
Response: Hi Benyam, thank you for your review and feedback. We take great pride in our facilities and glad to hear you have overall had a great experience. I'll make sure to share the feedback regarding both the dumbbell grips and the placement of benches in relation to the mirror. I invite you to try out some of the other locations in your membership if you get the opportunity, although I can appreciate that our U Street location is less than a mile away from you and that's fantastic. Stay strong, stay well, and see you at VIDA again soon!

Smiley Sunshine: Definitely worth the money spent! My favorite is the Sweatbox Class. Lost 14 pounds within a month and a 1/2 just in time for my wedding. Took a month off, then returned and worked out until the day of my surgery. I am recovering and So far, I can only do bike and light cardio :( but safety first. Once I'm cleared to do high intensity workouts, I will go to the Sweatbox. Can wait!
Response: Wow, and thanks for this review! Glad to hear you got the results you wanted for your wedding and hope you had a great time on your big day. It sounds like you're well on your way back to Sweatbox and we can't wait to have you rejoin some classes. Take it easy on the road to recovery and we'll see you VERY soon. Stay strong, stay healthy, stay well!

Taylor Hayes: I pay entirely too much money for there to be towels in the floor from a roof leak, a scale in the locker room that has been low battery for a week so I can’t weigh myself, and RUDE STAFF. Will be canceling my membership this month.
Response: Hi Taylor, we're super bummed to hear this and our facilities team works hard to ensure these kind of issues don't happen. I'll flag this with them, as well as the management team at U Street, and see what's going on. We hope we don't lose you as a member and invite you to chat with the team there so they can actively address your concerns. Thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback. - The VIDA Team

David Gershman: In the most appropriate way, I can say that Vida does not prioritize member safety in its steam rooms and saunas.
Response: Hi David, thanks for taking the time to leave this feedback. We recently rolled out new policies regarding our steam rooms and sauna with this goal squarely in mind, so curious to hear what sort of issues you are having. Please feel free to speak to the GM at U Street privately and/or contact our DIB with your concerns. Their information can be found at www.vidafitness.com/diversityboard. We take our members safety very seriously. Thanks again.

Joe Kawly: The most decent gym in DC. But lately, they have been faking short especially when it comesTo maintenance. It feels like each day there is something not working.

Mattia Pallozzi: Honestly I have had always a lovely experience, clean fun and the staff especially has always been pretty amazing, from managers to trainers! 👌🏻👌🏻
Response: Hi Mattia, thanks so much for the 5 star review! We think our staff is pretty awesome too and glad to hear you're getting such great service. Not to mention our housekeeping team, which we truly believe is the best in the biz. Thanks again and see you at U Street again soon!

Harry Longlast: I a had meeting with Paul and all I can say is that I have never felt so uncomfortable and embarrassed before. His rude comments about my " big chunky thighs and lack of motivation " were very unprofessional. How do you even motivate someone by highlighting his/her insecurities? He was very rude and impatient. I am not an experienced lifter, however I was under the impression that the staff and culture at vida fitness were solid. The level of unprofessionalism really upset me and will for sure never come back. He was trying way too hard and pushing me to buy a membership and did not even consider my questions, concerns. I believe as a sales director or rep; you must be able to not only know your product but to hear your clients needs in order to better cater to their need. I run a local blog with over 5,000 daily readers and will for sure write about this awful experience. I understand I am overweight but I want to make the changes in my life that get me healthier; I just wish mr Paul, as a professional would be more empathetic and see me as a human being; not just a number.

Reynaldo Castillo: Positive: ProfessionalismAmazing workout experience from the membership consultation to the quality of the facility. Paul Leiby understood my fitness goals and listened to all my concerns as I came from another gym franchise. I fully endorse the quality of the experience and I guaranty you will see results in your fitness goals.
Response: Thank you for the kind and thoughtful review, Reynaldo! We're thrilled to have you as a member of the VIDA Fitness U Street community, and we're delighted to hear that Paul has been such an asset in helping you reach your fitness goals. Take care - and thank you for joining us!

Jordan Bayless: Absolutely love the gym itself. The facility is large and has a dedicated floor for compound lifts filled with squat racks and deadlift platforms. Unfortunately, personal trainers usually dominate this space and use it for calisthenics and TRX workouts. Granted, they seem very focused on ensuring their clients have a great experience, just at the cost of other members. As a result, there is almost never an open rack or platform. The locker rooms are top notch. With a sauna, steam room, and showers that have excellent bath products, there is amazing attention to detail. The rest of the facility is nice as well. Although, it is devoid of some typically essential equipment such as seated leg curls. These spaces, to include cardio rooms, are often overcrowded and only seem to be less trafficked from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Overall, the facility is great, to include the rooftop pool. However, these seem to be used as selling points to encourage new members and after joining, the organization only is invested in trying to get members to spend more money through personal trainers, nutritionists, etc. rather than ensure members spending $180/month have an enjoyable experience.

Robert Mckernan: Pros: They have an entire floor dedicated to power lifting that has squat racks and platforms so you don’t have to wait! One always opens up within 3-5 minutes even at peak hours. The roof top pool is great and so is the food as well. I love those friggin’ wings and drinks! They also never run out of sanitizer, sprays, wipes and towels. Great hours is also a plus. I have a second membership at a competitor for later hours when my schedule entails but vida is definitely my preferred location. The members are super friendly and great and I never see anyone not masked or sassy when they’re required; I’ve made many friends at the pool so keep that in mind. Value is a plus; I’m used to spending ~150-300/mo for other premium/lux gyms and I feel what they charge is very fair. Also a barber in the gym is great and they have quality cuts. Cons: Their billing department is deficient, I’ve never had a issue with a gym not being able to schedule recurring charges, and it seems they have been unable to properly due so. The $150 sign up fee that gets rolled over into credit to use at the gym, it took two months for it to get added into the barber account. I had to follow up about it several times to make that happen. Very frustrating and not a very luxurious feeling to have to deal with that as a new member. Each month billing cycle roles around and i ask them (FD) if everything is squared away and they say yup/yes you're all good. Yet for the past two months in a row they contact me weeks after it’s due saying I have late fees and haven’t paid. Even when I’ve called and spoke to them each time on the phone after the first warning they still don’t properly process it and it ends up back after 10 days in a email; you have late fees, it’s very disappointing. I know they’re able to process my card; they’ve charged that same card “no show fees” when I’ve booked for the pool and it’s canceled due to rain. So it seems sus. It took about 3 weeks of my effort of calling, emailing and talking to the front desk to get that squared away to refund the “no show fee” when they closed the pool due to weather. In that process many emails were not answered. They did however eventually reverse the charges but it wasn’t easy and the communication was absent until finally getting ahold of the billing manager in person as she was taking out trash one day. She was very kind and apologizes and seemed to be the person who gets things done. If I were the owners I’d give her more tools or people to work in her department to make their billing staff efficient, or let someone else take out trash so she can better allocate her skills to where they’re most needed. The rude front desk manager in other posts is most likely John/Jon, he doesn’t listen to guests and always responds with attitude. I tried to review my account today and was met with “well maybe you should try paying your card so it doesn’t decline”, like dude I’ve never carried a balance, and when I paid it with the same card today in person there was no issue. I definitely did not appreciate his less than helpful personality. I would like this late fee reversed but I would happily pay $10 to not have to talk to John/Jon again. **Communication** Forget about trying to leave a message anywhere, inboxes are full at their billing specialists, pool inbox, everywhere on their phone tree. Emails aren’t answered, so your only chance to have them resolve any issue is in person, provided you find someone willing. Penthouse reservations; weekend slots for premium seating are booked quickly and often occupied primarily by their employees; seems sus. If you want a spot; set a alarm for 167.9 hours before you want it and immediately book when it changes to 168 hours, else lose your chance to vibe on a daybed or cabana on the weekend. In summary: it’s a good place and I’m sure they're doing the best they can during this pandemic, but boy it can be frustrating. If it gets better I’ll be sure to update this review. Best Rob

Crunch Fitness - Chevy Chase: what do users think?

Jade Rodrigues: I’m really happy to have joined this gym. I got some sessions and my trainer Dawn was super helpful and is the sweetest person! I had never had a trainer before and she exceeded all of my expectations. When I joined the gym I wasn’t sure how to start and felt intimidated with all the equipments options. Dawn showed me a variety of exercises and created a workout plan that was tailored to me, to my needs and what I need to improve. Seeing her definitely made me feel motivated and confident to keep going regularly to the gym. Dawn is super nice, caring, and dedicated, and I would see her every day if I could!

Katerina Athena: I’m a new member of crunch and I already love it! Everyone has been super friendly so far. I’m doing personal training with Sean. He is very attentive and personalizes my workouts. I have previous injuries to my spine and he really checks in and makes sure I’m not doing anything to further my injuries and incorporates workouts that will help strengthen areas that will lessen my chronic pain. I haven’t used the showers yet but it’s super nice that they provide towel service so you don’t have to carry a soggy towel out with you. There’s a parking lot in the back and you can get validated for 100 free minutes. I got a great deal on a few personal training sessions but I will continue to go even after those are finished!

Jim Manning: I have been going to Crunch for over 5 years and couldn't be happier. Crunch acts like a "boutique" gym: the staff is very friendly; the housekeeping staff is meticulous about keeping everything clean; the equipment is well maintained. We are lucky to have Charles Foggie as our personal trainer. He is full of energy and has a great sense of humor and makes me want to do my best. We have noticed that all the trainers there are 100% focused on their clients and act like there is nothing else they would rather be doing. For anyone looking for a friendly, no drama place to work out, it would be hard to beat Crunch.

Brian Jessup: Can’t say enough good things about this gym. Housekeeping is always keeping busy making sure the gym is spotless. Management always tries to answer questions and resolve concerns as quick as possible. Front desk staff always welcomes you with a smile and most even by name. Trainers are very knowledgeable and attentive.

Zoe Watkins: I've had the pleasure of working with Selina, a wonderful fitness trainer at Crunch Fitness who is helping me reach my fitness goals. She is warm, professional and always ready to lend a helping hand. I was hesitant to work out with a trainer at first but after one session with Selina, I was hooked! I wanted to change our normal workouts a bit and add more weights and she was more than happy to adjust to my needs. If you want a trainer who is dedicated to helping you meet your fitness goals, pick Selina. The entire staff at Crunch Fitness are friendly and welcoming. I always recommend people this place if they are looking for an affordable and quality gym membership.

Scott Shay: I usually go over lunch and it's never crowded, so I'm able to get my workout in very quickly. Staff are friendly and the gym is well maintained and clean. It's a small gym but I rarely have to wait for any of the equipment, whether machines or weights. Lots of cardio choices as well. I've been going to gyms for 30 years and this is one of the better ones I've been a member of.

Mikhail Nowlin: This is by far the best gym I have worked out at since moving too Maryland. Very clean, very friendly non judge mental environment. The staff are great! And for a low monthly price compared too other gyms. Check it out!!!!

Camilo Conde: The vibe of crunch is excellent. My trainer, Sean, and other staff are extremely helpful and positive. The variety of equipment is diverse and gives gym goers the ability to train with a highly varied program structure if desired. Also a short walk from the Friendship Heights metro station.

Marie Moylan: Excellent facility. Always active but never crowded. Great range of machinery and space for exercising. The cleaning staff are of the highest quality and are always working to clean and sanitize the facilities. Covid rules were followed religiously and I have always felt ‘Covid-safe’ working out there. We’ll organized, professional and friendly.

Colton Long: I’ve been coming to this Crunch location since fall 2018, and it’s been one of the best gyms I’ve frequented in the DMV. They’ve handled the pandemic and its ups and downs like rock stars. The only main caveat I’ll add here is that they desperately need squat racks that don’t have fixed safeties. Deadlift platforms are also a huge need, but squat racks with adjustable safeties are #1 on the list in my view.

MINT health club & studio- Dupont: what do users think?

Massimiliano Santini: Terrible experience. It's incredible how a gym that prides itself with being a family-run independent business close to the customers, and part of the neighborhood community, has taken advantage of one of his customer. Here is what happened. I requested to cancel my gym membership 7 days before the renewal date, as I had an emergency and would not have been able to use the gym on the following month. They told me they had a 10 days cancellation notice, that they would not exercise any flexibility, and that they would press on and charge me for the following month despite the fact that I was not going to be able to use the gym for a single day. I am extremely disappointed about this charge. When I first joined Mint a few months back, as a long-time Adams Morgan resident, I was really excited to become a member of a community of gym enthusiasts that support a local business. In particular, I trusted the flexibility and friendliness displayed on their advertising emails. You can only imagine my disappointment in seeing that as I faced an emergency, MINT did not display any sort of flexibility and common sense. My advice -- go to any other gym in the neighborhood and avoid MINT. When you need any flexibility, they will not be there for you.
Response: Hi Massimiliano - We are sincerely sorry that you feel this way. Our liberal cancelation policy does require 10 days' notice and is clearly stated in all agreement information. The standard notice period in the fitness industry is 30 days. To allow time for our team to process and to be fair and equitable to all of our other members we apply this policy across all memberships. We wish you the best as you navigate your family emergency.

R Adebowale: Great local gym. Small building but with all the modern equipment needed for a good workout. Nice front desk staff.

Lexie Barton: I love Mint!! I have been so impressed by their ability to pivot during the pandemic and create an environment that truly feels safe for everyone. I cancelled my gym membership before the pandemic at another gym and felt unsafe returning as I have an at-risk person at home, until I found Mint! Cannot say enough good things about the team and the facility. Thank you, Mint team! Also agree with the 2nd review below 👇 I’ve been during all times of the day and have never had an issue with any of my belongings. There is ample locker space with the ability to choose your own combination so you can secure your items. I’ve never seen or encountered any issues.
Response: Hi Lexie! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a thoughtful and kind review. We really appreciate it!

Kaelah Horwath: MINT is the BEST! All of the instructors are amazing and it is such a nice place to work out.

A MM: My partner's wallet was stolen from his LOCKED gym locker at this location (which occured due to MINT's bad practices). Other reviewers below who are not familiar with the situation mention that you can set your own combination and that the locker must have been unlocked, but the locker was locked and the below reviewers don't mention the quality of the locks/lockers are so poor that someone could break into it in a matter of minutes. Following the robbery, MINT has barely apologized and does not respond to his emails about the situation. As an update, 6+ weeks later, the issue still has not been resolved and there has been no communication from management despite multiple attempts to contact them. It's telling that management chooses to respond to positive reviews below, but blatantly ignores this one. Would not recommend this gym.

Amy Carmichael Smith: This has been a great gym so far. I signed up a couple of months ago and I splurged for the membership that allows me to sign up for any class which I highly recommend. I wish I had more time in my day to take advantage of them all! But it's great to just sign up, even at the last minute, for an awesome class. Most importantly, the people at Mint are fantastic. Really down to earth, helpful, and friendly. I'm really fortunate that this is my neighborhood gym.
Response: Hi Amy, We really appreciate you taking the time to leave us this amazing review! It's so great to hear that you're enjoying our classes and the MINT team. :-) We can't wait to see you in the gym again!

Nisha Singh: MINT has been adapting their virtual and in-person offerings to maximize client experience and safety, from the start of the pandemic. I used to go occasionally to in-person classes at the Dupont location and started going to the Power Playground classes once my virtual fitness routine got stale and the virtual platform, class format (no equipment necessary!), and instructors were so great that I ended up buying a class pack. It's been great to feel challenged again in a workout!
Response: Hi Nisha! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a great review. We're so happy to hear you're enjoying our virtual classes, especially Power Playground. We'll be sure to share the feedback with the team!

Blanca Badgett: Mint is fantastic! The variety of classes is great as I lack self structure when I try to workout alone. The instructors are very motivating and work with all skill levels. They all have a good knowledge base to modify workouts for people with injuries which I appreciate. They also have a child care, full amenity locker rooms, and a coffee machine. It is rather expensive for memberships so I would suggest using ClassPass to try it out before fully committing. Their memberships do also include the 14th St location!
Response: Hi Blanca! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us such a thoughtful review. We're happy to hear you enjoy our classes, instructors and amenities! Looking forward to seeing you in the gym. :-)

Connor O'Donnell: I joined Mint when they reopened after the pandemic and the gym has been fantastic. There is plenty of space and equipment that you aren't on top of other members when you're working out. Even before the pandemic Mint took cleanliness and sanitation very seriously and have ramped up their procedures even more so now. The best thing about the gym is the windows that wrap around the whole building so that its drenched in sunlight. Very different feeling when compared to the dungeon weight room of Sport and Health NW in Tenleytown.
Response: Thanks so much for your thoughtful review, Connor! We're so happy to hear that you're enjoying your workouts with us.

Mallika Thomas: Such a great place! Really nice to go to a local, family-owned gym that is really set on delivering great health and wellness to the local community! What I especially love are the outdoor classes that are being offered in the time of Covid. They are safe, in small groups, and outdoors! And I really need the exercise after having been inside for so many months! Thank you, especially to Lauren for offering a fantastic outdoor workout!
Response: Hi Mallika! Thank you so much for leaving us such a fantastic review. We'll be sure to pass the compliment on to Lauren.

The staff their is welling to help you to reach the best comfortable workout which take the kinks out of different location of your body. Washington Sports Clubs - Glover Park: what do users think?

My Comment: Great neighborhood gym. Staff there -- Mahlape, Olga, Luis -- who are there in the mornings are friendly and quick to help if you have questions. You get a neighborhood vibe from the place as compared to the nameless big gyms. Especially during the pandemic you can see the extra effort they put in to keep the place clean, open, and welcoming. They make you feel part of a family. Glad to be a Glover Park member.
Response: Judd, We can't thank you enough for your 5-star rating of our Glover Park location. It means the world to us and lets us know we're on the right track! We are thrilled to hear that our team members are always welcoming, as we strive to deliver the best customer service. We are always happy to help should you ever need assistance in the future. You can reach us at Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com. Thanks for being a part of Washington Sports Clubs. Thanks again, Here to Help Team

Jason Yeung: Been a member for several months now. I’ve haven’t had a negative experience with team members. The people that workout here are also very respectful and friendly. In response to a negative review of a team member I wanted to share my experience with her. Towards me, she’s always been friendly and hospitable. She does her best to remember everyone by name and notices when your workout buddy isn’t with you, even to the point of asking if they’re ok. The lack of a 5th star is not because of the staff. I wish there were bumper plates, another squat rack, and high quality barbells. That’s most likely a corporate issue.
Response: Jason, We appreciate the time you took to rate our Glover Park location. Thanks for acknowledging our team members daily efforts. We would like to thank you for your constructive feedback. We are continuously working to make improvements when it comes to delivering the best fitness experience. If you would like to share any additional feedback, we are here to listen with care. You can reach us at Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com. All the best, Here to Help Team

Ricardo Martinez: I must disagree with a previous review. Malape is a value member of the gym, she is courteous, polite and nice in general. If there is a piece of equipment that is behind the desk, she would gladly point it to me so I can grab it (due to COVID). Luis is another great asset to the gym, he always looks to have everything ready and clean for us to workout early in the morning, always say hi with a smile and good attitude. I am appreciative of their work.
Response: Ricardo, We always enjoy hearing what our customers have to say. Thanks for shouting out our awesome team members Malape and Luis. We're glad we could be of service and that you had a great experience at our Glover Park location. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review, and we appreciate your kind words. We are always here to listen with care. You can reach us at Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com should you ever need assistance in the future. Thanks again, Here to Help Team

John Byrne: This is a great sports club with a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. Mahlape has always been an incredible asset -- friendly, professional and knowledgeable -- and Luis keeps everything extremely clean. The club was renovated a few years ago, and there is great equipment and a lot of space. Also, very easy to get to on Wisconsin Avenue.
Response: John, Thank you for being a loyal member of our Glover Park location. Many thanks for thinking of us and leaving a 5-Star review. We would also like to thank you for recognizing our team members Mahlape and Luis. We're grateful for your trust, confidence, and business in choosing Washington Sports Clubs as your fitness provider. We hope to continue to exceed your expectations. You can always share feedback, or should you ever need assistance; you can reach us at Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com. Thanks again, Here to Help Team

Alexandre B. Sagna: I love ❤️ being part of Washington Sport Club Glover Park. The whole staff is friendly 😊. Brought two of my buddies to train with me and they loved it. Yes it’s tiny that’s true so if you don’t like being close to each other I recommend not to come around pick time 😊.
Response: Dear Alexandre, Thanks so much for taking the time to share such positive feedback! It is truly touching to know you think so highly of us and are sharing this experience with your friends! If you ever need anything please don't hesitate to reach out to our team at HereToHelp@tsiclubs.com. Thanks again, HereToHelp Team

Joao Pedro: Very friendly staff and great customer service! I also want to kindly disagree with what was said in the latest review since I believe that the “older black woman”, as she was referred, is actually a valuable member and a very nice person who contributes a lot to the gym with her nice work. I only have great words to say about the whole team that works there. The gym is always super clean. The machines are well maintained, and there’s a good number of ergs, so I don’t have to wait to do my cardio.
Response: Thank you for the kind words, João! We’re so happy your membership experience went so smoothly. We love to provide great service to awesome members like you. If you ever need anything please do not hesitate to reach out to HeretoHelp@tsiclubs.com. Thanks again! Marc Digital Member Relations Manager

Will Wu: Great budget gym in Glover Park. Been a member for almost a year and never had any problems with them. Would recommend

Vinicio Aguirre: Wsc Glover is a gym that I highly recommend to the neighborhood or anyone looking to go have a good workout. It’s had major changes since the original Covid transitions. The people there are welcoming and enthusiastic when it comes to its members. If you are an individual that is somewhat of a germaphobe, there is an employee by name of Shanica who works hard keeping the cleanliness of the gym to its highest standards. She makes sure the antibacterial wipes are always stocked and the workout rooms as well as mats are cleaned daily. Overall I believe you come to the gym you’ll agree with my review.
Response: Hi Vinicio - thank you very much for your review of our Glover Park location! We are so thrilled to hear that you are enjoying our club. We appreciate your continued loyalty and if there is any further feedback that you wish to send us, please contact us at HereToHelp@tsiclubs.com. Thanks again, HereToHelp Team

Bernard Holland: I have not been to WSC Glover Park since the pandemic and plan to rejoin when things quiet down. Before that I was there most days for ten years. The elderly black woman Lizzie was referring to is Mahlape who has been there for more than 20 years. Mahlape is the glue that holds that club together. All the people I know that attended the club adored Mahlape. I cannot imagine her being rude undeservedly to anyone. Moreover I have seen a few altercations between staff and members in my time at the club. Invariably it was the members who were at fault.
Response: Bernard, Thank you for taking the time to rate our Glover Park location. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we take pride in delivering exceptional service. We look forward to your return and continuing to support your fitness journey. We are always here if you ever need assistance in the future. You can always reach us at Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com. Thanks again, Here to Help Team

Gretchen Whitney: Washington Sports Club in GloverPark is very convient for me, clean, cost-effective, etc.. I always appreciate being welcomed by Malape (spelling?). The yoga and exercise instructors are excellent. I don't like wearing a mask now but appreciate the club's attention to the requirement and safety. I recommend it!
Response: Gretchen, Thanks for choosing our Glover Park location and leaving such a great review! Feedback like yours reminds us why we do what we do. We are thrilled to hear that you love our group fitness instructors and that team member Malape is delivering you a great experience. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Should you ever need any help, you can always reach us at Heretohelp@tsiclubs.com. Thanks again, Here to Help Team

Balance Gym Thomas Circle: what do users think?

J: I was visiting DC and did a few CrossFit drop in classes. The coaches were excellent and welcoming, and all of the class members were very friendly. The facility is excellent. Thanks for making my visit so nice.

Somak Ghosh: Used to be a member of the foggy bottom location and liked it. Not so much this one. -The equipment is probably from the 1980s. Some of the plates are so old they’ve turned red. Yet I’ve been charged multiple enhancement fees. -A lot of the machines are breaking down and don’t get regularly fixed. -The staff is nice but not that helpful. Other locations will actually help you and they have designated staff to hell tidy the weights -Most of the good equipment is in the CrossFit area. If you just want to lift weights you’re second class in this gym. I’ll probably leave soon. I wanted to end my “annual” membership but I learned in the fine text of my contract that it’s actually 13 months. Another scummy move.
Response: Hey Somak, Thank you for bringing this feedback to our attention! I'm sorry you feel that your experience at our Thomas Circle location isn't up to par with our other locations. We really strive to be a great fitness community for all of our members. I'd love to have the opportunity to further discuss your experiences here, in hopes that we can do better. Please email me directly at chris@balancegym.com so we can work together to bring you a better fitness experience! Best, Chris General Manager Balance Gym

Alistair Perumal: Used this gym for a month in DCReally enjoyed the atmosphere and most especially the Sanitized environmentWould go again!

Jack Sykstus: Was a long time member. Went to both Thomas Circle and Foggy Bottom locations frequently. Great gym in the DC area, and live the CrossFit programming. Tons of options for fitness there. Go if you can.

Kristin Dion: The staff was friendly, the facilities seemed clean, hand sanitizer was well stocked, and the classes have been helpful!

Obi Asemota: I joined this gym with my wife about a year ago after seeing how well kept the place is, and how professional the staff and trainers conducted themselves. We’ve been doing our evening work outs ever since, and I must say, the ties we’ve made with the people here are just beyond words. One of the best gyms in DC, without a doubt.
Response: Obi- Thanks and we're fortunate to have you as part of our community. Take care and keep training!

Caetie Ofiesh: Easily the best gym in the city, reasonably priced and a great workout atmosphere - nice but not fancy, lots of people serious about fitness. Ive gotten some of my best training advice from staff there, Michael, Stacy, Aesha and others.

Libby: I never write reviews, however, given my horrible experience I decided to share. Belonged to this gym for a few months. Everything smells, needs to be cleaned / updated. You can see the machine rust / falling apart. You get what you pay for. Customer service is horrible. There is one woman who has a horrible attitude and closes the gym 15 minutes early than the actual listed closing time and rudely rushed me and other people working out at the gym on multiple occasions. I tried cancelling my membership and they made it extremely difficult and ended up charging me for 2 extra months, despite me moving more than 10 miles away. Overall, bad experience wouldn’t recommend.

Brendan Gregory: Really awesome gym! Lots of squat racks and bars on the second floor. First floor is just for cross fit but the rest of the building is for regular gym members. They also have personal training in a separate studio right on 14th Street.
Response: Thanks Brendan! PS- Is that a FD RX7?!

David Lapidus: Fantastic gym. Have been a member since 2012 (Thomas Circle location) and been happy the whole time. Plenty of squat racks and places to perform olympic lifts. GREAT membership options especially compared to the bloodsucking national chain gyms.
Response: Thank you for the review David! #balancelife

Pure Barre: what do users think?

Sonni D: Emily taught my Intro class and it was great. She was very helpful and informative about the different techniques. Great workout. I will be adding Pure Barre to my workout routine!
Response: Hi Sonni! Welcome to the Pure Barre DC community. We are thrilled to hear you have a wonderful experience at your intro class. We look forward to supporting you as you begin to make Pure Barre part of your lifestyle!

Laura Montoya: Worst ever. Lack of flexibility for busy professionals. Very quick to lure you in, but then forget it. Right after I joined I signed up for a class and was turned away because it was a "special class for non members", even though it was going to be my first class as a member and mentioned I wouldn't mind and that because of my busy schedule I need to squeeze a class that day. Next time I went back, the door was basically shut on my face, they refuse to open the door if you are a few seconds late. Perhaps if you live to make to Pure Bare your priority in life, but for those who need flexibility, better off signing up on a luxury gym membership who may also offer similar classes and are more willing to accomodate a busy lifestyle. I haven't bothered going back since, and I am stuck having to pay another month since my cancellation.
Response: Hi Laura, We are so sorry that you had this experience. We certainly do not want any of our members to ever be turned away from our studios! While that specific class is for those trying Pure Barre for the very first time and is set up specifically for first-time clients, an exception should have been made in your specific circumstance and I personally apologize that it was not. We continue to re-grow and we hope to be able to offer many more class time options very soon so that you and the rest of our members will not be faced with these dilemmas. We are strict about our classes starting on time for both your safety and the safety of other members. That said, I certainly hope you were not turned away within seconds of the class time starting and had the door shut on you. Our team and studio motto is: be kind, be confident, be thoughtful. We work hard to create an environment within which our entire team and community feels confident and strives to be kind and thoughtful in all of their interactions. I hope that all of your experiences going forward will embrace this and we hope that you'll give us another chance. If you would like to speak with me personally, please reach out to me at mdavidson at purebarre dot com. Thank you so much for giving us grace here and for your understanding. We hope you have a fantastic weekend (and maybe even another chance to visit us so that we can make it up to you!). Take care and all the best, Michelle and the entire Pure Barre DC Team

Denise Morris: Great workout! Even thought it’s tiny oilers they really work your full body
Response: Hi Denise, Thank you for the five star review! We're so glad you are enjoying your time at Pure Barre DC. The small movements may be deceiving but you're right -- translate to a full body workout! See you at the barre soon!

Elizabeth Ladwig: I've been taking classes at Pure Barre for the last 5 years and it is consistently the best workout ever, whether it's the cardio-intensive Empower class or the Classic Barre class. I started out working the front desk at the PB in Charleston and fell in love. Luckily, they are great across the board and I love the DC locations just as much! Great workout and staff are always friendly, welcoming and encouraging.

Ade A: PB Capitol Hill is an amazing and inviting studio. The teachers are lovely and attentive. This is a five star studio for sure. The pure barre classic is my class of choice but all classes are great and Challenging but in a good way. I always feel great leaving the studio after a workout. It’s definitely worth the money!!!

Erin Morris: I've been loving my time at Pure Barre. The low impact workout has been great on my joints and I also come out breaking a sweat, exhausted. Exactly what you want from a good workout. The instructors are great when helping with form and their encouragement in class helps me keep going. I'm glad to have found a workout class that is actually FUN!

Emily Perry: I've loved Pure Barre Capitol Hill so far! The location is so convenient (right by the metro). The studio is very clean and the instructors are so nice! They are always helping with adjustments to make sure we all get the best work out. I feel like I get a good work out each time; every class has been a little different which is great- nothing really repetitive which is awesome

Kirby Shultz: Every workout at Pure Barre is challenging and targets very specific muscles throughout your body! No matter how many times you have taken a class or how regularly you go, there is always a way to continue to challenge yourself and to see results. The instructors and front desk staff are friendly and able to answer any questions about classes, prices, or modifications. The studio is clean and well-kept and street parking in Eastern Market is easy or you can use the metro!

Julie Scarano: The addition of the Pure Reform and Pure Empower has been a very welcome addition to my work out routine. PB Capitol Hill has offered these classes at convenient times and with good instructors- and you can’t beat the location! I would like to see instructors interact with newer clients and learn their names as well, but I would definitely recommend this studio!

Meredith Mull: Classes are decent. You never do any one move for too long so classes feel like they go quickly which is nice. Instructors are friendly. I would say Pure Barre is somewhere in between Bar Method (I found boring and repetitive) and Barre3 (more difficult and nicer, more modern studios). Soon Pure Barre will have three class types to choose from which is nice for regulars. They also do workshops occasionally which is a great option.

Northwest Sport&Health: what do users think?

Guido Zucconi: Equipment is plentiful and in decent shape. But the place is dirty. Same layers of untouched dust, same balls of hair in the corners and on the equipment day in and day out. Showers are below average in cleanliness as well. Members and staff alike don’t bother wiping equipment after use or re-racking weights. There are weights all over the place. Needs a culture change which starts with staff and trickles down to the members.
Response: Hello Guido, We’re sorry to hear of your less than satisfactory experience and hope you will accept our sincerest apologies. Being known for our great customer service it came as a surprise, and we would like to make things right. Please give us a call to determine how we can provide you with a solution that makes you smile. We value our customers opinions and would like to thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Aaron Kahn-Bork: I've been trying to cancel my membership in writing for a year and a half and I'm still getting charged $42 every month. It's now added up to over $700. I've finally started disputing the recent charges, and plan to pursue further action over those that are to old to dispute from within my credit card app.
Response: Hello [NAME] If you’re open to discussing your experience further, please call us at (202) 244-6090. We’d greatly appreciate the opportunity to make things right and work toward earning back your business.

alessiozampetti: ...if i ask you: "Do you have sauna here at Health Center"? What do you think am i ask for? Is it pretty comprensible what am i asking for? Well, i did this question to the receptionist and she had no idea what i was asking for, ok i tryed to explain in a few words what a sauna is...nothing she stil was staring at me like i had asked how to build a rocket to reach the moon!!! She was able to says..try to ask to general manager! Please, she is a young girls and she can't ignore what a sauna is and she can't ignore what amenity thy can offer to the client!! It is a huge lack of professionality. That was my exerience...i quit with the second question about the swimming pool, i will find a better place.

Eli Geb: I would not recommend signing a contract with them at all! Rude management and 0 assets to the company with the exception of the young director Everett, who actually seems to do the work. The other manager is just a joke.
Response: Hello Eli, I’m sorry to hear about your disappointment with us, and I would like to personally assist you with making things right. Let’s get on a call and address this ASAP, we value your business. Please contact us when convenient.

Nicolas Minges: While I have no complaints about the facilities or staff, please be warned that management employs very predatory billing tactics and will stop at nothing to take your money away from you (make sure to request copies of everything you sign on the spot, they'll say that they'll send you a copy later but never actually do, and definitely read everything carefully before signing as they'll try to rush you through the process and pressure you into making a bad decision, so definitely take your time!). They are not transparent at all with their contracts nor with what you've already paid for and appear to make things purposely confusing for the client as they're solely focused on financial gain with a total disregard for customer satisfaction, service, or basic human decency (capitalism at its finest). If you have the option, my advice would be to go elsewhere, especially since you're paying for it! You want to be leaving the gym feeling good about yourself and not like you've been ripped off and scammed, which unfortunately is the case at this establishment.

Gregory Cork: FITNESS AND FELLOWSHIP IN UPPER NORTHWEST DC If you work out, every once in a while you find that memorable gym – the place where not only your fitness soared, but so did your spirits when you walked in the door. Northwest Sport&Health (NWSH) is that kind of gym. It’s a given that any quality gym will have the equipment and amenities you need to get and stay in shape. NWSH certainly has all that: two floors, with cardio equipment, a bike spin room, and studios for all kinds of classes up top (and a full and varied weekly fitness schedule); and two thoroughly-equipped weight rooms downstairs – all the machines you’ll need plus plenty of free weights, including two Smith racks. But the essential, even ineffable factor always is the fitness staff. And on this count, NWSH is terrific. Led by General Manager Moses Robinson and Fitness Director Alex Switzky, these folks are professional, knowledgeable, attentive, supportive, engaging, courteous – and not only fun, but funny. (Make sure to ask Moses about The Smolder.) Most important to me personally was that NWSH served as a haven for me through most of the COVID-19 pandemic. Working out at NWSH (yes, with a mask), and hanging with the team and the people I got to know at the gym, came to be the anchor of my day. It was what I most looked forward to, each day, in a bizarre time – a time that otherwise would have lacked air and connection, and that would have meant isolation for this active person. I always will remember and be grateful to NWSH for that critical time and for their collective generosity of spirit.
Response: Hi Gregory, Thank you for the 5-stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Serena Nangia: I love everybody at S&H in Tenleytown! The staff is amazing and always so welcoming - I feel like I'm coming home every time I work out! If you're looking for a personal trainer, Brian is awesome - encouraging and kind, but he still pushes you out of your comfort zone! I've been a member for 1.5 years since I graduated from American University, and I'm planning on staying a member in the future. Highly recommend for anyone local looking for a safe and comfortable place to workout :)
Response: Thank you for the fantastic 5 STAR review Serena! We love that you're enjoying Brian and the Tenleytown Team so much! Thank you for choosing Sport & Health! We are so happy to be your home!

Tala K: Northwest Sport and Health is the perfect gym. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The facility is always clean and has everything you need. Great instructors and all types of fitness classes and training available. The kids’ club is our favorite. The caregivers are experienced and caring, you can enjoy your workout without a worry. Love this place and highly recommend. Thank you!
Response: Thanks Tala!

Zenobia Hampton: I got a bribery call with the new manager offering a free pass to change my review! It stands! horrible concept and overpriced company! Planet fitness is bigger, better, and cheaper! In my experience with this place it's extremely easy to sign up but seemingly impossible to cancel. It's expensive and if you want to become a member of the locations that have pools the already expensive fee is even higher! This place taught me one thing! A free workout trainer app is majorly worth the download! Gyms are becoming a major rip off!
Response: Hi Zenobia, thank you for your review. We strive to keep the process for making account changes simple and quick for our members. All you have to do is email our Member Services team at memberservices@usfitnessgroup.com, and they respond within 24-48 standard business hours. If you have any further questions or concerns, our manager, Alex, would be happy to help. He can be reached directly at nwmgr@sportandhealth.com. Thank you.

Donna Rosen: I have been a member of Northwest Sport and Health for 10+ years. I like this gym for exercise because it is laid back, but has excellent equipment and a diverse membership. I have worked with several Personal Trainers at this gym. All were good, but John Vallimarescu is one of the best Personal Trainers I have ever had. He is very careful to address the unique needs of each client. He pushes you but does not exert excessive pressure -- perfect balance. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an outstanding Personal Trainer at NW S&H.
Response: Thanks so much Donna! I will pass along your compliments to the team! Thanks for being a loyal member with us and let us know if we can anything to help you. See you soon!

barre3: what do users think?

Denise Recinos: I've been going to Barre3 for almost two months now, and I've loved it! I didn't know what to expect, but it's been such a great workout experience. The class instructors keep you moving and the music pumps you up as well. If you're looking for a workout that puts your body to work and is still fun, I highly recommend Barre3!

Kathleen Schwarz: After having my first child, I had a hard time finding an exercise class that allowed me to reconnect to my core muscles, adapt moves for my current abilities and range of motion, not strain a recovering pelvic floor, and still be challenging. The classes at barre3 have checked all these boxes! I’m already noticing much more stability in my core and the glute strength I’ve been missing after only one week of attending. I’d definitely recommend this for someone returning to exercise postpartum!

Kristen Sharpe: I've taken several classes with different instructors, in-person and via zoom with Barre3 DC and each one has been great! The instructors give modifications for every fitness level and the workouts are full-body without being hard on your joints. Trust me, muscles you didn't even know you had will be sore!

Nhu Girl: If you’re new, I like to say Barre3 is a mixture of Zumba, Yoga, and Ballet techniques combined. It’s fun, upbeat and challenging. They offer a lot of time slots so it’s easy to schedule a class into your day. Parking is easy to find and love their location.

Jessica Goodman: barre3 DC studios (Clarendon, Navy Yard, Union Station) consistently provide a stellar workout and a wide variety of options to keep me engaged and successful during workouts. The staff and members are very welcoming and non-judgemental. Highly recommend.

Elizabeth Charash: Great classes!! Love an early morning workout and it is so nice to have so many options throughout the week. The instructors are great and the studio is a nice respite from a busy day.

Gwen Cummings: I love this studio! It's conveniently located, immaculately clean, and feels like an oasis after a long work day. I've been to three classes so far and have yet to be disappointed in an instructor. I'll definitely be going regularly.

Mathea Pielemeier: Barre3 instructors are always friendly, energetic, and welcoming! It’s a great low impact workout and good combo of cardio & strength work.

Abby Balmert: Barre3 is by far the best barre studio in the DMV area - much better than PureBarre or BarreMethod. I love the instructors' energy and the combination of cardio, yoga, and classic barre moves. The ball, sliders, bands and weights make for great props and an intense workout. I always work up a great sweat - and shake - while I'm here!

Cally Perkins: Barre3 Navy Yard is a great experience. Impressive studio with plenty of space and fun instructors who keep you energized and going! Highly recommend.

Dance Trance DC: what do users think?

Jen Kennery: I cannot say enough good things about how much FUN Dance Trance is!! Oh man, from the teachers, to the music, to the choreo, the community…everything about DTDC Is just so welcoming and so much fun. Experienced members go out of their way to introduce themselves to new folks and after classes a few times a week a group may head to a nearby spot to grab a bite or a drink. 👌🏻 Easiest decision ever.

Chelsea Phipps: I'm so glad I found Dance Trance. It is the ONLY work out regimen I've EVER been able to be continuously excited to go to. I never have to drag myself there. I go 3-5 days a week every week. I feel healthier, happier, and my body thanks me for it!
Response: We ADORE you Chelsea! Thank you so much for writing this review!

Chakaboom Fitness: what do users think?

Tina M: Unlike any other gym/ workout place I’ve ever been to. Instructors know your name; they are happy to see you every time you come in; and they genuinely love what they do. They offer a variety of classes from weightlifting, resistance training, stretching, but my favorite is the dance class, which I would refer to as Zumba 2.0. It’s a higher quality of Zumba with cool choreography that makes you feel like you are a professional dancer yourself. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for exercise, good time, positive vibes, and new friends all in one place.

Dana Esposito: Chakaboom Fitness is a fun, extremely effective, and amazing full body workout. The instructors at Chakaboom are extremely well trained, and highly skilled. They will help you to accomplish your goals. The classes are instructor lead, with self modification. The instructors will help you follow the class at a pace good for you. For instance in chakabar if the class is doing legs (squats) you can do abs on the step. In dance class you can go with a low impact option. In bounce class you can bounce on the boots to your comfort level. There is room for everyone in Chakaboom classes, all ages and body types can enjoy and benefit from the workouts. The atmosphere is like no other, everyone does not just come for class and leave. People get to know each other, the instructors will learn your name, and you will find encouragement. Chakaboom fitness is a very special place, many of refer to as our happy places. There is always room for more in the happy place!

Gayle Coston: I stopped by to observe first and it was amazing. I went back the next week and signed up for 20 sessions on the spot. I started that evening and it was awesome. Everyone is so friendly and the instructors are the best.

Ginger Fletcher: Love love love. Will change your life! Great energy, family atmosphere, instructors are amazing. Thank you.

Momo JuJake: The most fun dance class I've been to and I've been to alot at age 52.

C DJ: Great routines, great instructors

Chevy Chase Athletic Club: what do users think?

Kevin Sunita: I’ve recently joined CCAC since I heard about them from a fellow member. The classes looked like something I would be very interested in, but more so the stretch class. I’ve had back issues for quite a while now but after attending that class for a couple weeks, my back has never felt better. The instructor Vikky makes the class very fun and enjoyable along with the people that take it. Would highly recommend this gym!

Lallie Marita: The staff and trainers at CCAC have been some of the best. A lot of gyms feel very “money-grabber” so-to-speak and I have never once felt this way here, even though many will simply go out of their way to offer a correction or two. This gym also appears to attract everyone, but definitely leans toward a younger to middle-age crowd, all are welcome nonetheless!

Lisa Wu: I live closeby in a neighboring apartment complex and recently joined CCAC a couple months ago after touring the facility and doing a free trial. I highly recommend attending their Strong class with Hayat every Tuesday and Thursday; this has been a game changer for me and my fitness goals. It has helped me tighten up and tone my body all over - especially my core and inner thighs. This instructor is one of the best I have ever taken from and is extremely motivating and personable!

Jonathan Steele: This gym is of even greater value than what you pay for. If you want to be part of a community and actually get to know people within the facility you're signing up for, join this gym. It's a real community that motivates and supports each other. The management is great and I can attest to the fact most negative reviews occurred because people did not abide by guidelines in the contract or clear direction from management. With the current staff and employees, I can confidently say CCAC is well worth every penny. Highly recommend this club and asking to try using one of their personal trainers... I've never been so sore but made so much progress.

Tim Smythe: Just recently joined with some of my friends from AU and a couple guys interning in the area and it's been great. Awesome variety of gym equipment and the staff members are really friendly, chill, and genuine. They'll validate parking for $1 up to 2.5 hours and they have a sauna and steam room which is cool. Middle-age to younger vibe and the owner Steve White is really nice about taking the time to correct form or make things harder... you will be sore though. Check it out.

amelia brooks: I joined about a month ago with some friends and we have loved this place! Super convenient since we live in a house not too far away during the year, and now summer with internships. They just recently started offering a deal for college students in the area, so I highly recommend checking it out - and if you love a quieter time to workout with less people, I recommend the mornings here! Super spacious and the staff is so friendly and personable. Everyone pretty much knows each member by name and they're super encouraging! We've felt really comfortable in this place when it comes to COVID and everyone seems to be doing their part.

JJLindsanity: This club is amazing! It definitely meets all of my exercise needs, so much space! I love all the equipment choices that they have, every time I visit I can't help but to try something new- love at first try! I also love how the staff knows everybody who comes in by name- so nice! This is definitely the place to be (exercise)!

Pete Kaminskas: I recently 'discovered' CCAC when looking for a place to practice squash with my daughter. I was pleasantly surprised to learn about the breadth of equipment and programs beyond the 3 squash courts (which are very nice). Moreover, they recently upgraded their equipment and improved spacing to promote better distancing. CCAC is a hidden gem and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a clean, well-run gym with friendly staff.

Medhavi Bhatia: I would be very careful with this facility. The owners are very bad at managing billing. Look at my credit card statement below. I left the club in Feb and after a couple of disputes which I presumed settled this, I noticed very late that the owner kept charging me. By the time I found out, the credit card company would not refund me between March and May. I informed the club in September and after that not only they did not refund me between March and May, they also kept charging me in Oct, Nov and Dec. The owner was extremely rude and I found that they have done this with other members too. They sign members up and if the member does not meet their revenue generation criteria within a year, they kick the member out and make up the loss via such billing as much as possible. I am $500 down! Please save yourself!

Rebecca Post: Critical: Communication, ProfessionalismSimilar to a previous poster, we canceled our membership and continue to be charged months after. Despite writing several times to Claire, no response. - WOW, that response below is rich given we did all the paperwork on November 23rd and are still being charged.
Response: Hello Ms. Post, We hope you are staying healthy, but despite repeating the cancellation process *several* times over the course of *several* months, you chose to make an exception for yourself. You could have come into the business to cancel or send a certified letter and I easily and happily would have taken care of this for you - no questions asked and no problems moving forward. When you sign a contract, you are expected to abide by the rules laid out in it. We understand there is a pandemic, which is why I have made exceptions, such as meeting people outside of the building or having them send a certified letter. We have hundreds upon hundreds of members, so sticking to the cancellation policy is critical in staying organized and taking care of matters like these adequately and properly. We wish you well and wish we could have taken care of this a long time ago. Very Best, CCAC

Foundation Fitness of Cleveland Park: what do users think?

CJ Wesby: This is a great space on Connecticut Ave. The facility is always clean and inviting. The staff is top notch and very friendly. Dega is the best person to talk to. She runs the show. The are worth a visit, you'll never want to leave.

R. Montgomery: We are really enjoying the flexibility of using Foundation Fitness to get and stay in shape. The gym is convenient and friendly and we are enjoying a bonus of couples group training!

Mariana Salas: Positive: Professionalism, QualityThis gym is truly great! They have all the popular equipment you’ll need and a great space to do your own thing. The staff is incredibly friendly and the space is always clean. If you’re looking for a low-key gym this is it. I feel super comfortable and they offer a variety of classes in your membership.

Ben Rissler: This is an excellent gym with friendly staff! The facility is relatively small, but the gym has everything that you need to have a good workout. The gym is always immaculately clean, COVID-19 procedures are followed by everyone, and its online people tracker allows you to see how many individuals are at the gym at any given time. During the pandemic, this is a great feature if you prefer to limit your exposure to others. The outdoor deck is a unique addition which allows you to workout outside, which is rare to find in cities. Highly recommend this gym!

Maureen O'Brien: This gym is fantastic! I've been a member for about a decade. Everyone who works at FF Cleveland Park is friendly and professional. They know every members' name. I started training with Tony about six months ago - best trainer I've ever had. They absolutely helped me get through quarantine - not just because I could exercise, but because of the interpersonal, social atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Response: Thanks so much Maureen!!

Shahrzad RoshanZamir: If you live close to the Woodley/Cleveland area, Foundation Fitness is definitely the highest quality gym with the most convenient location!! They have a variety of equipments that can be used by both beginner and advanced lifters. Both the staff and the members are very respectful and keep all the equipment clean, which is a plus. The staff is super supportive and welcoming. They made the environment of the new gym feel very friendly and provided with any help that I needed! If you are in DC for a short time/internship, they will work with you!! Their summer deal saved me so much money!
Response: Thank you so mcuh Shahrzad!

Danielle Lee: Love this boutique style gym! Been a member for a few years and the staff is always pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. Clean gym and even an outdoor space for some socially distant fresh air workouts. Imani is my trainer and I’ve grown in strength, endurance and confidence since working out with her. Love her motivation. Keeps me on my toes. And always shares great tips for me to practice at home too. Def check it out if you’re in the area. Worth it!

Kevin Lucey: The gym has everything you need as well as a nice personal feel. The members are very friendly and nice. The workers are enthusiastic and provide a good energy to the gym. The after hours is an outstanding policy that makess it much easier for the member to fit a workout into their schedule. Overall, the gym is a great atmosphere for a workout.

Emily: Everyone at foundation fitness Cleveland park is fantastic!! Imani and Tony are great trainers, they are fun and motivating. They make working out enjoyable. I recommend coming and training with them, they are so personable and awesome. Jenee is so welcoming and friendly. I enjoy everyone here and love coming in!

Edeline D.: I have been a member at this gym for a few months and I am very pleased with my experience. While on the small side, the facility is well maintained and equipped with everything needed to help you look and feel great. The staff is great and they are always happy to help or provide guidance during visits. Another plus is that the gym is conveniently located near the metro stop and the hours are flexible for anyone with a busy schedule. Special shoutout to Jenee, Imani, and Tony who are always welcoming and kind!

Rock Creek Sports Club: what do users think?

Daniela Velasquez: I’ve been coming to RCSC for a little over a year now and it’s been the best fitness decision I’ve made thus far! From the front desk workers and personal trainers to custodial staff— they are extremely welcoming, professional, and respectful. I am also appreciative to have found a place that actually enforces their sanitizing regulations. Aside from the people, they have a wide variety of equipment to fulfill your fitness goals and is well maintained. *Updated review* Since the beginning of COVID to its most recent Omicron variant, RCSC has done a great job at enforcing rules such as updating their patrons via email with mask mandates and documentation of vaccination cards. They also continue to have disinfectant bottles, wipes, and towels in multiple spots throughout the gym. Last but not least is the real time capacity tracker through their website. For those who live a bit further, have a busy schedule, or simply want to save themselves a trip to the gym before realizing it’s a bit too packed (this has rarely happened to me by the way, but would occur at the commercialized gym I used to go to)… the real time tracker will be your best friend.
Response: Thank you for your thoughtful review Daniela.

Taiara Matos: It's a great place to workout, they have a good amount of new equipment for cardio and old school for weight lifting.Usually not too crowded. Very clean place! There is a sauna and showers too, bathrooms are always very organized.

Felix Mazza: Been going here for years love the people and environment. Not like other gyms where people expect their weights to be picked up by an employee, people respect the gym and clean up after themselves. Staff is very friendly and always happy to give tips here and there. Not to mention has a great community lots of cool and encouraging people who will spot you anytime. Also the equipment is much better than most bigger gyms in the area, they don’t waste money on things that never get used and have cool stuff that a lot of other gyms I’ve seen do not. Would recommend RCSC to any prospective gym goers they’re worth the money and time.

Rob Gilpin: I’ve been a member for a few years. They take pride in keeping the facility clean. Throughout the covid-19 crisis the club has clearly communicated the expectation that members maintain a proper face covering at all times, I think the maturity level of the members has aided in this. Powerlifting friendly, with multiple platforms, squat racks, and benches. I have never paid for training services but the entire staff has always been congenial, and helpful.
Response: Thank you, Rob for your thoughtful review. It’s a pleasure having you in the gym.

Erin O'Hagan: Legit pilates classes, specialized range of group fitness classes and the best trainers!

Jenny Smolinsky: Rock Creek Sports Club is reasonably priced, and never feels over crowded. The locker rooms are always clean, have plenty of space, and have saunas and showers. There is plenty of cardio equipment and weights, and they offer several group classes throughout the day. The staff and management are truly some of the friendliest people I've ever met - they are so helpful! No one is pushy/sales-y like at other big gyms in the area. I'm so happy I joined this gym.

Hinda'sMusic BACKUP: There is not ONE fitness trainer that is practicing what they preach and not only that, they will hate on you if you are doing your thing because it makes them look bad (especially the big stomach blonde haired ‘trainer’) watch out for that dude, he thinks he’s the coolest, will ask you to get off the machine you’re using, do everything except focus on his ab crunching, and is highly unprofessional in his demeanor. This place does not welcome people who ACTUALLY want to come and workout on an advanced level - it’s meant for stuck up people who want everyone to stay below average, so if you mix in well and never train consistently - this is the place for you.

Lydia Neher: The first thing that is great about this gym is the cleanliness. I have not been to another gym that is as clean as this one. The entire facility is spotless. I’m also very impressed with the type and quantity of equipment at this club. The basement has everything you need for weightlifting and powerlifting. This gym also has a great community feeling. The manager, Hadji is wonderful, knows everyone’s name and makes you feel very welcome. The other members are friendly and approachable. So much better than a chain gym!

Brandon Grimes: Pretty cool gym. I can say I'm a fan for the price and friendly atmosphere. No only really acts like a prick so thats always a good thing. The prices are very good for a gym of their size. The big selling point for me were the olympic weightlifting style platforms downstairs. They have two, so if your an olympic weightlifter like myself then this is a nice option if you don't like to pay for crossfit boxes (which there is nothing wrong with =D). They also have showers and a sauna in each the mens and womens bathrooms. Fitness classes of all types and all different types of cardio machines such as Concept 2 rowers! Like I said for the price, you definitely get a lot of hang for your buck.

Dr. Valaida Wise: The best gym ever! From the moment you walk in the front door you're welcomed by the friendliest front office staff on the planet-makes you feel like you're part of the family. Manager Hadji greets you by name (how does he do that anyway?). Everyone seems to know who you are and care about your progress. But, top of the list for me has to be the personal trainers. My trainer Caity Adams is sunshine on steroids while still being a serious fitness expert. Her knowledge and total commitment has helped me lose 45 lbs and get into the best shape of my life. I love this place!

VIDA Fitness at The Yards: what do users think?

Victoria Stiles: Vida is more than just a gym, it's a lifestyle. State of the art gym facilities with a seasonal rooftop pool, beauty salon, and even a spa! In my opinion, also some of the most reasonable monthly rates.
Response: Hi Victoria, thanks for your review and we completely agree - we see ourselves as a total wellness solution and are here to make our member's lives better! We're glad you enjoy the facilities and find our prices to be a great value in return for the services we provide. Thanks again and we hope to see you at The Yards again soon!

Kelly Blackwell: Is it a gym with standard equipment, yes. Is it convenient if you live in Navy Yard, yes. Are the extra perks they promise you worth the over priced membership, NO! Will you get the run around when trying to book your “complimentary training sessions”, YES! Will you get the run around when you want to stop your membership, YES! You’re an adult, make your own choice. Just know this is clearly a place with pressure on numbers so take that for what you want. Don’t go excited to start a fitness program because the trainers won’t respond and it will kill any motivation you have. Just be warned that this is probably not a place for anyone starting a new journey or looking for help. But if you just want a place to go, maybe it’s for you if you don’t mind the high cost.
Response: Hi Ron, thank you so much for the time to provide this feedback about your experience. We appreciate your business and strive to make sure all of our members have great experiences. We want to make this right! Please contact that location directly at 202-554-0444 so we can make sure your issues get resolved. Thank you for your business.

Michael Cave: Perhaps the worst gym in the entirety of DC. The equipment is rarely racked correctly, the locker room is dirty and the staff is rude and feels inconvenienced by your presence. Additionally, they are requiring boosters as entire countries (the UK) is rolling back their mandates. I guess Vida's PH professionals know more than the UK's? That is very interesting. I would encourage not joining this gym and either working out in an apt gym or if that is not available finding transportation to another gym. I changed to a gym in NoVa and it is the smartest move I have ever made.

Sandie Bonwinkor: I’m currently a new member at this gym, so far I have to say.. everyone has been super nice and the energy of the gym naked me want to go hard (harder of course). The price for the kind of “luxury” gym and energy of the gym I think is worth it. Also, I get gym shy (lol). I quickly got over that because EVERYONE is literally in their own space and world, but super nice. It feels like I’m just kinda working out and doing my thing (which I love).
Response: Thanks for the review! We are pleased that you feel comfortable working out with us here at VIDA Fitness at The Yards. We strive to create a welcoming and accessible environment, and it sounds like we've achieved this! See you again for your next workout.

Spiro Dimakas: Great gym and staff. Clean and newer equipment. Parking is very problematic after 3pm and routinely cars are double parked in the lot. Limited street parking and the larger lot at the grocery store doesn’t honor cross validation so you’ll end up missing a lot of workouts if your plan is to drive after work. If you don’t drive this is a great gym to go to!
Response: Hi Spiro, thanks for the review and glad to hear you enjoy the gym. We totally appreciate that parking can sometimes be tricky, especially during peak hours, and have tried to alleviate that with the subsidized parking in the garage under the facility. We'll keep an eye on the double parking issue down there. Thanks again and hope to see you at the Yards soon!

Hope Greenleaf: Love the pool, the actual gym is great, the classes are just okay, and my favorite part is the luxurious locker rooms complete with sauna and steam room!
Response: Hi Hope, thanks so much for this review! We're happy to hear you have been enjoying the locker rooms, as well as the steam room and sauna. The pool is one of our favorite spots as well. Please stop by the front desk let us know how we can make the classes better! Thanks again for your feedback and see you at the Yards again soon!

David Gershman: Considering VIDA - on JUNETEENTH OF ALL DAY - made a WATERMELON-based cocktail speaks to the RACISM the company possesses. Can’t imagine what it’s like to carry that much hate. I feel bad for Vida— I feel bad for those whose values are such.

Joe Edward: Amazing gym. If they ever close down, a night club could move in without changing a thing.
Response: Hi Joe, thanks so much for the 5 star review. What can we say, we like a gym that knows how to have good time! We're glad to hear you're enjoying the facilities at The Yards and can't wait to see you back again soon. In the meantime stay happy, stay healthy, and stay well! - The VIDA Team

Scott Garvey: Vida was quite nice before Covid. Since Covid they've made changes to cut corners and save money but they are still the most expensive gym membership in DC with dwindling amenities. Select cardio equipment goes months without repair with no sign of when it will be repaired or replaced. Towels have stains and still circulated to the welcome station.
Response: Hi Scott, thanks for your review. We are constantly working to make sure our equipment is the best out there, whether it's repairs, upgrades, or making new purchases. In fact we're rolling out a few new amenities, classes, and equipment in the next month or so. Please feel free to speak to a GM if there's a certain piece of equipment that seems to have been out of service for awhile, as they're the best person to give a target date as to when they'll be back up and running. Thanks again for the feedback! - The VIDA Team

Todd Marino: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityThe staff is super friendly and down to earth, they definitely took me by surprise! If you go at the right time, the gym is practically empty too; nice spacious, ridiculously clean & modern areas that you only have to share with a few others. I don’t use any of the amenities for your comparison purposes, to include the locker room.

Equinox Sports Club Washington, D.C.: what do users think?

Daniel Caroe: Almost at the end of my year membership and will not be renewing simply due to the customer service. In my experience, a good amount of the staff are hard to work with and even snobby at times and its takes multiple calls and requests to get anything changed on my account. Here are a few examples of the troubles I have had: 1) I called twice over the summer to freeze my membership for a few months while I was travelling. They said this would not be a problem and that they would do it.......I called a third time about month later to find out that they did not freeze it and were still charging me. When I told them about the first two times I called, they said they had no recollection of this happening. Kinda a waste of money for me in that case. 2) I was having some trouble with my personal training scheduling and called to get in contact with the PT Manager. I called multiple times over the course of a week and each time they told me he was busy. They assured me I would get a call back from him but this call never came. (kinda annoying he could not take the time for maybe a 15min conversation) 3) I had to cancel a PT session due to illness (strep) which they said meant I would not be charged a cancellation fee for my session. They definitely still charged me, and again, it was impossible to get into contact with the PT manager. Overall, it's a great facility but I find the staff to be pretty inadequate and kinda rude (namely a front desk person named Shaniya and one of the club managers named Dwayne). I loved my trainer Evan (highly recommend) but in the end, I feel like I could get what I need at another gym with a nicer staff.
Response: Hi Daniel, we are very sorry to hear about this experience. It's definitely not what we like to hear. Please connect with us at concierge@equinox.com. We'd love to get additional details regarding this matter and investigate, allowing us to work towards making improvements going forward. Please be sure to mention your review so we can address quickly.

David Gershman: Today I signed up and had a great experience. Mike, in membership, not only showed me around- they answered every question with full clarity, gave me far more insight than I expected, and was simply very nice and sweet. I knew I was going to get a membership going in, but it’s nice to get warmth and comfort instantly upon arrival. Felt like I was one of the regular folks
Response: Hi David, thanks for the 5 stars!

June Wade: Scheduled a spa massage for my friend’s birthday at the Ritz Carlton/ Equinox (Foggy Bottom) location. The staff was courteous and the gym was clean. I was disappointed the spa does not offer champagne or snacks for special occasions, instead we were given “swag bags” full of gym advertisements and trinkets. If you’re not a guest at the hotel, arriving early is highly recommended (parking, etc). Must walk outside to enter Equinox since elevator access to spa is for guest only. My massage therapist was (Donna) friendly, courteous but chatty. I was not interested in talking about where I live, hearing comments about my “poor”elbows🙄 or asking why my shoulders were so tight during my 80 minute massage. Unfortunately , the massage was not good (technique). Ambiance was fair in the room, there was no soothing music or waterfall fountains, just dim lights, and a cool quiet room. The warm bed with robes was a nice perk. Not a fan of the massage lotion (dry paste) used, she had to continuously spend time stepping away from the massage to reapply. I’m giving this spa 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️since my girlfriend had a positive experience with her masseuse. In addition, they provided a quiet space and champagne glasses for us to enjoy our BYOB champagne post massage. Would not recommend, lacks luxury for the price. $500+ ( 2 people)

Lauren Arquette: As all the other reviews said, horrible customer service. The club itself is fine, but don't try to bring a guest and don't try to cancel the membership because it's impossible and no one responds. I was a member for all of a week and tried to quit because I was told when signing up a guest of mine could come if I gave them that guests info. Gave them my guests info- they never put it in the system and turned them away at the door without even trying to investigate the problem/track down the person who gave my guest the ok. Was also told they hard certain equipment for rent when they didn't. If this was a planet fitness I wouldn't complain, but this is a $200+/month club that markets itself as elite. Nothing is elite about their customer service. Per the customer agreement you get 15 days to cancel and get a refund- tried emailing the manager for my refund, tried calling the concierge and nothing yet. I'd love to know if they actually even answer the emails they get when they respond to these complaints "sorry to hear about your experience! contact us as at..."
Response: Hi Lauren, please connect with us at Concierge@equinox.com. We would love to get additional details that led to this review so we can investigate closely. We would be happy to discuss this matter with you further if you'd like to share additional feedback. Please be sure to mention your review so we can address quickly.

TPMT Associates: Love it here as usual - they take care of the place and most importantly, the people who works out here take care of the place and is clean and tidy and doesn’t trash the place. As usual, it’s the people who come to gyms that are the messy/dirty and this place doesn’t have those ppl - not that I saw anyways!
Response: Thank you for reviewing!

John Heinemann: You get what you pay for. This gym doesn’t make sense for everyone, no one is a better person for going here, and a free gym in an apartment building is going to do 90% of what Equinox does. But the other 10%? I actually look forward to working out more when there’s both a sauna and a steam room, a saltwater pool, luxury bath products, memory foam floors for stretching, and refrigerators full of Eucalyptus infused face towels. I go for the amenities, and then I just decide to work out because I’m already there.
Response: Thanks for the 5 stars, John! Glad to hear you are enjoying our amenities.

Lena Fleischmann: Lots of amenities (pool, basketball court, steam room, sauna, soulcyle bikes...), good customer service, they constantly make improvements by adding products in the changing rooms like razors, hair ties, curling irons etc. What I don't like about it (apart from the price obviously): it's pretty much packed no matter what time you go which is annoying - wish they had a gadget in the app that would tell you how busy it is beforehand. Also, showers aren't always very clean.

Izabella Ritz: The club has a pool with saltwater which is very convenient, covid safety is great, the thing why I didn't join is no natural lights in a building, which is very important for me personally.
Response: Hi Izabella, we appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your experience. Thank you for the 5 stars and we will be sure to escalate your feedback to the appropriate teams.

Gelila Sebhatu: I called to inquiry about membership packages and I found the sales rep, Erica, a little rude and she did not directly answer my questions, which was irritating. Based on the reviews here, I’m not surprised I received this type of experience. I guess I’ll be looking elsewhere. I just wanted a nearby pool 🏊‍♀️
Response: Hi Gelila, we are sorry to hear you had this experience. We hope that you will give us another shot to show you we are capable of better service.

Ebony Williams: Do not work at equinox if you have living situation or just a situation period the manger Duane don’t care if you have living situation problems he even told one of the employees that mid shift is childish because we all going through something sorry if you hired people who have living situation or who gave problems and be careful of the Towels and hand towels they wash them in hot water only no solution that why the towels look a little dirty Yess I use to work their and got fired because I was trying to find a place to stay the days I called out because I was homeless the cleaning manger is horrible at his job and HR needs to send a Secret Santana to see how they clean the place

The Energy Club: what do users think?

Rebecca Rockey: Awesome gym with a huge variety of equipment needed for weight lifting, KB, TRX, battle rope, med ball and other interval training. Love getting to do my cardio on the rower, assault bike, skiurg, and on the traditional cardio deck. Couldn't be happier, and that's saying a lot as a 15-year fitness professional! Personal staff and friendly patrons make it even better. Highly recommend.
Response: Thank you for the great review, Rebecca! So glad you are getting good use of so much of the gym!

Tarica Danielle: My body felt so amazing leaving my first Zumba class with the fitness instructor Blair! I broke a great sweat and had fun while doing it. I highly recommend fitness training with Blair as well as visiting this facility!
Response: Great instructors. Fun. And a solid workout?! We love that you had a great time with Blair and enjoy The Energy Club.

Muriel Hubbard: This is simply the best gym there is. It’s more than just a place to come and get fit. It’s a community of people who care about each other and revel in each other’s successes and encourage each other to be the best you can be. I love every day I come to The Energy Club even when the work is harder than I think I can handle. And I always learn that I CAN handle it because all that requires is giving 100% whatever that 100% looks like that day.
Response: Thank you for the great review, Muriel! We appreciate you!

Jen W: Small gym with excellent equipment, great trainers, and a really nice locker room.

Sarah Humphries: I can't say enough good things about the Energy Club. The staff is amazing, Tom Tomlo, the fitness director, is unbelievable, and they are incredibly lucky to have him. The classes are awesome. I love being there; it is so much more than just a gym. I've been a member of gyms all my life, and this is the first time I've felt such a sense of community and belonging. They care so much about your progress, your fitness level, and all levels are encouraged. They work very hard to make people feel welcome, to host events that build connections, and to offer people the best in fitness. I feel so grateful to be a member- thank you Energy Club!

Stephanie Bredahl: I’ve been a member for about 2 years and can’t say enough great things about this gym. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, easy parking. Amazing classes! Love Patrick’s classes, I train with him too and if you’re looking for a personal train he is outstanding. He pushes you, makes sure you have proper form and makes each workout ‘fun’. Spin classes a great-they got new bikes recently and new gym equipment. Try the rock climbing wall!

Christian Lilakos: The Energy Club is a great value for the cost. They house any and all equipment you need to train, whether you are a competitive athlete or just looking to train for general fitness. There is everything from functional equipment to Olympic platforms. There is even a small rock wall. I’ve been in correspondence with Howard, whom made sure to show me all of the facility and amenities . He also went over and explained the different membership packages, as the club has different options to suit your needs. Highly recommended.
Response: Christian, thank you for the glowing words of endorsement. We hope to see you again real soon.

Angelo: UPDATE: Donald (GM) is a true professional. He personally reached out and worked out a plan that would be beneficial to his establishment and customer satisfaction and peace of mind. Thank you Donald. UPDATE: Stellar staff and great amenities, never a wait for machines or weights during the times I workout. Very clean and functional extremely pleased with this gym. UPDATE: Still love this gym, just a quick note, locker rooms have towels, soap, shampoo, and just about anything you can think of or need. Always stocked and clean. Staff always has a smile and ready to help.
Response: Hello Angelo, Thank you for the feedback, and the opportunity to hopefully win your business. We have several new staff learning and we do apologize if your experience was less than stellar. As the GM, the club is only as good as the experience of each person that walks through the door. I am asking for you to come back in and we will have a clear (and easy) way to discuss what the Energy Club really is - a great place to workout. My sincerest apologies for the experience. You canot make a first impression twice, so please allow us to make the second FAR better than the first. I can be reached at dbahneman@theenergyclub.com or 703.824.0600 Best, Don Bahneman - General Manager

Amelia Marple: Probably the best gym I’ve ever belonged to ever. I was a member for about 3-years and referred many people to join this gym. The staff and comradarie among the other members was unbeatable.
Response: Hi Amelia! Thank you so much for three years, five stars, spreading the word and for being a part of Energy while in the Shirlington area!

Derek Fronabarger: Horrific experience. Not only did they charge extra to leave (I’m month to month) but there were constant issues with people attempting to sell drugs in the locker room. If you want an over crowded gym, with shady people using the locker rooms, any a rude management who would not stop email - then this place is just for you. I would not recommend at all.
Response: Hi Derek, As we discussed over the phone and email, you were not charged any “extra” fees. Upon putting your membership under Freeze Status in November 2018, you agreed to abide by the Freeze Policy listed on both our website and Membership Freeze Request form. Since a Membership Freeze is offered in good-faith with the expectation that members will resume membership once the Freeze Status ends, our policy stipulates that The Energy Club has the right to collect any waived membership dues should you decide to cancel before your Freeze Status ends. While I understand that you are unhappy to honor the terms you agreed to, I’m sorry to see that you have followed through with your threats to discredit our small, community-driven business. We are also sorry that we could not close out your membership on better terms, and wish you luck with all future endeavors. Sincerely, Chris Tran Assistant General Manager, Director of Membership Services

VIDA Fitness City Vista: what do users think?

Andrew Bunting: Oh, the gym? It’s great. But the customer service is abysmal. Have an issue? Want to submit a complaint? They’ll tell you that someone will reach out but they never do. Guess they are too focused on signing up new members to give an ear to the ones who have been here for years (and paid full freight during the pandemic).
Response: Hi Andrew, thanks for taking the time to leave this review and we're glad to hear you're enjoying the facilities. If you have any issue you'd like to chat through we invite you to stop by the GM's office any time you're available. We're always happy to hear from our members and appreciate all the support you've given to us throughout the years. We certainly don't take it for granted and hope to talk through things at City Visa next time you're there. - The VIDA Team

David Gershman: Highly dissuade— steam room has been broken since July ‘21. Equipment is old, inoperable, dirty, and poorly-maintained. I had a most awful experience with two city vista employees and that led me to decide that I will not be renewing my membership with Vida.
Response: Hi David, thanks for taking the time to leave feedback although we're bummed to hear you won't be renewing your membership! We take great pride in our facilities and I will share your review with the City Vista team. We strive for excellence and hope we can welcome you back to the VIDA family again someday soon.

Michael L: Equipment is good, busy but not crowded in the mornings. I really appreciate that they don’t blare music here like some of the other Vida locations.
Response: Hi Michael and thanks for the 5 star review! Glad to hear the music is at a comfortable level and you're able to go and it's not too crowded. Please let us know if we can help in any way, now or in the future. See you around City Vista soon!

Branden Bateman: Ive been going to this gym for a bit more than half a year and appreciate that this location is less busy than other locations like the U St Vida. This gym is smaller than other locations but it also has a smaller regular customer base so it doesn’t feel too crowded, excluding the rare day where everyone in the neighborhood is fighting for a squat rack. There’s a diversity of equipment that is all in good condition - they appear to be adding in brand new machines right now also (August 2021). The gym’s air conditioning has had issues for about 2 months and is the reason I gave this a 4 star rating instead of 5. As someone with asthma, air conditioning at the gym helps me workout more effectively and avoid getting dizzy (especially with masks on). Doesn’t seem like there’s an end in sight for the lack of AC. I appreciate that VIDA management has reached out to members over email to keep us on the loop since it broke. My personal trainer is great and the reason I’d probably keep coming back to this location if I move further away. He’s friendly, kind, and knowledgable on the human anatomy. I feel like I get my money’s worth with sessions and, in addition to workout routines, teaches me the reason for doing workouts a certain way (I.e. the muscle attaches here and here so you want to rotate slightly). I would recommend personal training sessions to other people like me who struggle staying motivated. Equipment: 5/5 Staff: 5/5 Facilities: 3/5

Zachary Prinzbach: What really turned me off is that it really feels like a cash grab and not like an organization that's interested in fitness and it's members. It's not like other gyms are cheaper, but if you're paying $150 a month then you should have higher expectations. Pay attention to the other reviews. management of the gym seems to be really poor and staff have no idea what's going on. Even simple questions are met with blank stares and having to go check with someone else. Cookie cutter decor and very little authenticity.

Lesley Murray: I checked this gym out as I was visiting DC last week. My boyfriend and I were really impressed with the amount and quality of the equipment, how easy going all the patrons were even amongst the busy time of day, and how professional all the personal trainers seemed to be with their clients and with sharing space. They had plenty of free weights, Olympic lifting platforms, and lots of cardio machines in front. We didn't use the group ex rooms but they looked smooth and private, no chance of spectators! I was really impressed with the locker rooms--really clean, plenty of space, and I had the steamroom and sauna all to myself at 8am. As a gym rat myself, I would recommend this gym highly.

Ali Saad: I like that the layout is all on one easily accessible floor. I’ve been going for a month at various times in the day and haven’t had to wait on cardio or strength equipment. The new men’s locker rooms have spacious showers and large, clean sauna and steam rooms. They’re currently updating the women’s.

Christine K: It's fine, but certainly not a luxury gym. Layout is crummy, equipment is standard, and locker room is incredibly outdated. Currently they are undergoing construction and it makes working out here miserable... even if end result will be nicer locker rooms. Number 1 area for improvement is communication with members.

Dan Sugrue: If you get spoiled easy I would stay away from this gym and go settle for a less awesome experience while spending more money. I have been a member of many gyms in many different cities around the country. I have never experienced such a great bang for the buck as I have at VIDA City Vista. Just go visit the place and you will see. The equipment is all in great shape, the place is clean and most importantly it smells great. Even the locker rooms smell great, now think about that for a minute. The locker rooms smell great, the rooms that are filled with sweaty nasty guys smells normal! This is such an easy thing to take for granted until you end up paying more for a gym membership and find you have to plug your nose every time you enter the locker room. If it is classes you are into they have you covered, but be warned you will leave the classes sore and feeling like you actually accomplished something so if you are into going to classes just to be seen this may not be the fit for you. I'm a cyclist and used the gym to keep up on my off season training, If you really want to put your legs to the test take Tim and Cayley's classes during the week and take Wills spin/sculpt on the weekend. These three will put a hurting on you that will take your fitness to the next level. The rest of the staff, well they are on a whole different level especially for DC. They are nice and helpful, they will take time out of their day just to have a friendly conversation and will do everything they can to make sure you are always taken care of. Go in and talk to Travis, he will get you taken care of. Just for the record, no I do not work for the gym. I am just a member who realized how great I had it after i moved and had to pay more for far less in a different city.

Paul Ghanem: I cancelled my membership but they still charged me on the month I requested to cancel. They said you have to give a 30 days cancellation notice where they wrote it somewhere on the last page of the gym membership contract. Scammers.
