National Conservatory of Arts: what do users think?
Bosede
Bosede: I have been learning piano 2017. Miss Jacqueline Banks has been a great teacher to me and has taught me on the piano. Everyone is very nice and I have people to talk to. Various music skills are taught to students. The director only hires certified people. If you want your child to master an instrument come here.
Ruth Birhanu
Ruth Birhanu: The Conservatory is a prefect place to get music lessons. My sons have been learning piano from the Conservatory of Arts with Ms. Jacqueline Banks since 2015. They started with summer camp and then continued with private piano lessons. She is a wonderful teacher who is very patient while teaching kids. My sons love her private lessons. They have improved a lot through the past 5 years. When I hear them playing the piano, it makes me happy and proud of my sons.
Ketaki Jain
Ketaki Jain: My family has been learning piano from Jacqueline Banks at the National Conservatory of Arts for about 3 years now and LOVE her. My son started with her when he was 2 years old. He is almost 5, getting really good and still loves her classes. I started more recently. Jacqueline has seemingly infinite patience with the little ones, but also has a knack for knowing how to change course with lesson plan to keep them engaged and learning. With me, she has challenged me to learn pieces I would never expected to be able to play. It’s been an eye opener for me and really fun! I highly recommend their program!
Greg Sitzmann
Greg Sitzmann: Our daughter started taking piano lessons at the Conservatory when she was 6. It has now been four years and she loves her weekly lessons. Ms. Jacqueline is an excellent teacher who is very patient. Even when Covid made in-person learning impossible, Ms. Jacqueline pivoted to online without missing a beat. We are so pleased with our daughter’s growth and enjoyment with piano. I highly recommend.
Tanisha Wilburn
Tanisha Wilburn: I have been taking piano lessons with the Conservatory for the past five years. It has truly been a pleasurable experience working with my teacher, Jacqueline, and I look forward to our weekly lessons. If you want to learn to play the piano, I highly recommend using the Conservatory. The lessons are engaging and fun and the instruction from Jacqueline is always encouraging and thoughtful.
Angelica Norman-Beltran
Angelica Norman-Beltran: Hi highly recommend the National Conservatory of Arts to anyone, especially adultsz who are interested in learning how to play the piano. I started group adult lessons prior to th COVID Pandemic and meet Jacqueline Banks through my cousin who had started taking lessons in 2019. Group lesson rates are very reasonably priced and Jackie is great at encouraging students to find their own spin on songs we want to learn. When the pandemic limited in person classes, NCA was really quick at changing how lessons were done, switching to a virtual one-on-one format, which has worked out really well!
Jalpan Ringwala
Jalpan Ringwala: Great Piano lessons for our 5yo. Very inviting teachers and our daughter really looks forward to the classes. Their teaching style is very positive and encouraging - love this place!!

Middle C Music: what do users think?
James Hurwitz
James Hurwitz: Without reservation, Middle C Music deserves the highest possible recommendation. They did a superb job of cleaning up and giving an overall tune-up to my antique guitar and repairing my antique mandolin. In the process, I saw how the staff at Middle C —Nick, Tom, Dave and Hillary — interacted not just with me but customers and students of all ages and abilities. What I appreciated most was their low key manner and the pleasure they took in enhancing the joy that others got from their instruments, music, and lessons. This is truly an excellent music store.
Response: Thanks so much for all your kind words, Jim! Always a pleasure working with you, and of course, you're welcome back anytime-- in fact, if you drop by on the 19th, we'll be having a 20th anniversary celebration with cake, prizes, and live performances. We're honored to be your local music store, and hope to continue serving you and maintaining your lovely instruments for years to come. -Tom F.
Gillian Edick
Gillian Edick: We popped into Middle C to have a guitar restrung and tuned. They did it quickly, but more importantly made it great fun for my aspiring but beginner guitarist. Tom was amazing - so helpful and took the time to show my son how to tune the guitar, hold it and get started. Really fantastic service. Thanks Tom and team!
Response: Thanks so much, Gillian. Helping musicians have fun getting started is one of my favorite things about working in our community. Come back anytime to show off his progress! -T
Paul Myers
Paul Myers: I purchased a piano from these fine people, and I love it. It was very competitively priced. I have also purchased a guitar, and I have had these folks restring several guitars, and they do a great job —and again, the price is right. I love supporting small businesses, and Middle C Music is one of the best!
Response: Thanks so much! Very kind words. Glad you're enjoying the piano.
Fernando Nogueira
Fernando Nogueira: Super friendly and helpful staff. We were missing a very specific guitar screw and they helped us out in no time.
Susanna Gregory
Susanna Gregory: I LOVED it here! Stopped by for a new guitar and the staff was immediately willing to help and super friendly. The prices were great and I was really impressed with all the cool little things you could buy too! I didn’t get the names of the people who helped me but they were fantastic
Response: Thank you, Susanna! I'm glad we were able to help you find the right guitar, and we really appreciate your support. See you again! - Nick (and Tom and Dave) :)
Michelle Long
Michelle Long: I had the best time at Middle C Music! Everyone was super knowledgeable, supportive, and friendly. I came in looking for a 3/4 size acoustic guitar for traveling and had my pick of a beautiful selection. Big fan!! Will return!
Response: Wooo! Thanks Michelle, hope you enjoy the new guitar!

Music on the Hill: what do users think?
Maritza Cooper
Maritza Cooper: What a lovely place to not only purchase an instrument but learn how to use it! We started with my granddaughter learning the violin and moved on to mommy taking guitar lessons. Very homey atmosphere and great with kids of all ages! When I finally have the time I want to learn how to play drums!
Donovan Dorrance
Donovan Dorrance: Aaron hooked me up with a great set-up for my telecaster. Helped fix some intonation issues. So very grateful for his expertise, efficiency, and kindness. Highly recommend coming here! They will treat you right!!!
Shawn Benson
Shawn Benson: Music on the Hill - The Hill’s own neighborhood music shop. Pretty cool. I’m a new client at Music on the Hill and I’m a very satisfied customer. My wife and I look forward to coming back, taking lessons, and recommending this neighborhood music shop to our musically-inclined or curious friends. Their prices are often just as good (and sometimes better) than their competition. The customer service/expertise is spot-on. And, you feel good knowing your money is going back to a small, local business. Frankly, it’s an investment in our community and that’s almost reason enough these days. Give them a shot. They don’t have everything, but they’ve got a lot and it was more than enough for us.
anne phelps
anne phelps: My whole family loves Music on the Hill! Lindy is a terrific resource on all things music related. We’ve had great experiences with lessons (clarinet and guitar) and when we wanted to upgrade to a wooden clarinet, Lindy & Luke found us a quality used instrument. If there’s something we need and they don’t have it, they’ve always been able to get it in short order. Music on the Hill is everything a local music store should be.
DAVID BAROI
DAVID BAROI: On March 29th around 5 pm Me and my friend wanted to check this store out we are not from the dc area and we drove during rush hour traffic took us 40 min. But where we arrived I was keen on checking out the guitars and my buddy wanted to get a a quarter in jack. After we went in we an employee Middle Aged female was being rude as soon as we walked i; she made us feel very uncomfortable and eying us down the whole time. My friend even purchased a product and yet she was keen on getting us out the door and I was in the middle of considering purchasing the fender Stratocaster Mexico made but yet she was nudging for the door. After being in there not even for 10 min she came up and told us we had to leave. And so we abided by what she said and left. But will I go back again ? No how can i go into a music store and spend over a hundred dollar on anything without taking my time on inspecting that product.
Response: David- I'm very sorry that you felt rushed at Music on the Hill. Unfortunately, you did show up 15 minutes before our posted closing hours, and I (the middle aged women you talk about) had a family obligation that could not be put off. If you are still interested in the Fender, give us a call at the store, and we can set up an appointment to ensure that you get all the time you need.
Amaobi Otiji
Amaobi Otiji: I had an enjoyable experience buying a guitar here. Their shop setup is really aesthetically pleasing and their selections were all from very quality makers. The staff were very helpful in finding something that fit me by giving me a lot of options to work with. I also enjoyed them showing off the instruments with their musical skills.
Response: Amaobi- thank you for your kind words! I hope you are still enjoying your guitar!
Eric Schneider
Eric Schneider: Since this place added a guitar tech and luthier, I have taken in three guitars and received perfect setups and provided great service in general. So glad to have these folks in Capitol Hill instead of having to give a conglomerate like Guitar Center my business!
Kevin Wholihan
Kevin Wholihan: Had an amazing purchasing experience here and came away with a gorgeous acoustic. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, quickly found me the right size and a great fit. Very good COVID precautions. Will be back for my next major purchase.
Response: Thanks Kevin!

Quartertonez Music: what do users think?
Arlene Baker
Arlene Baker: Quartertonez A Musical and Dramatic Note Above the Rest “Kids are filled with joy and wonder. Their imagination is endless and it is important for teachers and educators a like to be able to get the most out of them. With a little bit of direction and motivation kids can achieve anything they want”. As the NANA of nine years old twin granddaughters who have been students of Quartertonez since it’s original opening, our family can attest to the talents that have been unearthed and are developing in them. Whether it is piano, script writing, acting or stage set creations we have seen them develop their skills and perform with joy. The instructors at Quartertonez are revered by them. Most importantly, even though they are challenged, they have fun with these fabulous talented teachers. Our family also wants to applaud Quartertonez for the way they have adjusted to the “new normal” that we have all had to live with because of COVID 19. Quartertonez never missed a beat, or a note. They have continued to engage our children in instruction in their fields and our children have continued to excel with ZOOM instruction, and performances. Julie Blum: A little more than two years ago, I decided I wanted to learn to play the Oud. I had no prior experience with the instrument and I was delighted to find Fuad, the founder of Qurtertonez who was willing to teach me. He teaches the stories behind the music, not just the notes. He is so patient and fun and passionate about music. He imparts culture and is dedicated to music as a vehicle for soothing the spirit. This doesn’t mean his standards aren’t high. They are very high, and I am proud of what I have learned and the skill I have developed! Qaurtertonez promotes community and teaches music in the process. Great school!!!

Christina Malekiani
Christina Malekiani: We have had a wonderful experience with both of our children and LIYH. We have been clients since before covid and have been impressed with their rapid changes in protocols for covid that were simultaneously so smooth and made for easy transitions for the kids. After also taking a hiatus from one instrument for one child, LIYH was so helpful in transitioning that child back to another instrument and with a different coach that was an even better fit. Heather is extremely professional and proactive and an excellent communicator. She listens well to what each family and child needs and guides appropriately with her recommendations and seems to be spot on. Joseph has been absolutely amazing with our daughter on guitar—one of the most patient, kind teachers we have seen and knows how to keep her motivated and excited. She loves him and can’t wait for lessons each week with him! Nicole has been wonderful on piano with our son and knows how to challenge him appropriately while still keeping him encouraged. We have been extremely pleased with LIYH and will continue to work with them as long as our kids keep enjoying playing an instrument.

Juan Pablo Risso: Beware! While the program might be interesting, the Cleveland Park location is poorly run and it will bring you more headaches than benefits.

Eugene Montague: Dr. Palçic is a fantastic teacher: sympathetic, knowledgeable, and kind. Our kids love him and have made great progress with their piano and their general musicianship. Would recommend him, and this music school, very highly!

Sinople Farm: My 8-year old and teenager both take piano lessons with Rok at Chevy Chase Music and they both enjoy it very much. Rok is an expert pianist and an educator who understands kids well and can adjust to their moods and different personalities. He is also patient and flexible which we appreciate.

Chevy Chase Arts Academy: what do users think?
Suz Brown
Suz Brown: I have a 6 year old boy who has been taking piano lessons at CCAA for a year now. He loves his lessons and is already sight reading! His teacher, Miss Olivia, is positive, upbeat, and full of laughter. It is clear that Levon, the director, is very much connected in the music community and there are many talented teachers here. Best of all, the environment is warm, and we have been treated like family from day 1, even during the worst of the pandemic.
Response: Thanks so much, Suz! We really appreciate your support.
Jonathan Kula
Jonathan Kula: Nearly my entire family takes lessons at Chevy Chase Arts Academy, and we could not be happier with our experience. Our youngest, 8, has been progressing and enjoying the piano for months now. Her instructor, Manuel De La Luz, is patient and inspiring, and gives perfect feedback. Our other daughter and I take guitar from Arnell Byrd, who is both effortlessly cool and also teaches theory in an accessible way. Levon Mikailean, the founder, has been extremely supportive in making our family musical. The website is easy to navigate, and the zoom lessons are very effective. Still much to learn, but we are playing together and enjoying the practice! No, really, we are! I cannot recommend these folks more highly. They are just the best.
Response: Thanks so much for the positive review, Jon! We love having you guys as a part of our CCAA family! 😊
Pavel Khrimian
Pavel Khrimian: This Academy is fantastic! Everything you want to see in art/music academy. Very talented teachers, very friendly, and convenient in terms of availability. Highly recommend piano lessons with Levon, as both my daughters are taking piano lessons with him. Any instrument you can think of they offer lessons, wide range of professional instructors, which is awesome to see in this area. Definitely recommend Chevy Chase Arts Academy Maryland.
Response: We appreciate your positive review, Pavel.
Margarita Saringulyan
Margarita Saringulyan: My daughter really enjoys her piano classes and is excited not only to go to class but also practice at home. Music is a big part of her life now! We are thankful we found the Academy and highly recommend the piano teacher Levon!!!
Response: Thanks so much for your review, Margarita! Best, CCAA team.
Tatevik Gevorgyan
Tatevik Gevorgyan: We decided to join the Chevy Chase Art Academy as our last try before giving up – or at least pausing – on music. After we started our classes with Bienvenido, in only a month I saw how our child (8yo) changed completely. The teachers at the Academy are professionals, very gentle and thoughtful with kids and they make the learning process fun for them. They show individual approach to every student – key to every learning process. After only 5 months of classes, my son plays music all the time, whenever he has a free moment. I don’t need to ever remind him to practice – he enjoys it. I am so glad we gave this school a chance before giving up, because now we are looking forward to our music classes with delight and big hopes.
Response: Dear Tatevik, thanks so much for your kind words. CCAA
Ruth Trombka
Ruth Trombka: As an adult I have attempted to play the piano three time in the past. Levon is the first teacher to make it feel like an achievable goal. His relaxing style, as well as his emphasis on enjoying the process of making music (while also teaching the necessary fundamentals), has helped me feel fearless and completely capable. I imagine he is equally easy-going yet effective with children. He is simply a kind and gentle person who seems to derive sincere pleasure from helping others learn, no matter their level.
Response: Thanks so much for your review, Ruth!
Lauren Theriot
Lauren Theriot: Wonderful music school! Very qualified and dedicated instructors and a wonderful environment to learn!
Response: Thanks so much for your review, Lauren.
Tata M
Tata M: My daughter loves these classes! I have recommended this school to our school friends as well! The teachers do such a great job of being relatable to the kids, making them want to keep going! Thank you, guys!
Response: Thanks so much, Tata!

Vishal Sinha: Our kids go to International School of Music for their weekly music sessions. They are just starting out on their musical journey and this can be a challenge for both the kids, and the teachers. We really appreciate the patience of the instructor - she is really doing a good job introducing our kids to music and is patient with them. The front desk staff is very friendly too and helps us quite a bit to set the weekly schedule. The new location is perfect for us and the facilities are really nice!
Elizabeth Clifton
Elizabeth Clifton: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueISM has great, timely communication, especially during these days of requiring on-the-spot technical coordination and they have been excellent about providing extra time when technical struggles prevent on-time starts. 7DrumCity: what do users think?
P T
P T: Perfect little studio for shedding on your own. Big rooms are great for bands and there are also solo piano rehearsal rooms as well. All of the rooms are fully equipped with top of the line gear and all of the gear is well maintained. If a problem arises with the house gear, the staff will replace it quickly and efficiently. I witnessed this first hand. As a working drummer of almost 30 years, I love the fact that I do not have to bring any gear aside from my stick bag. You can adjust all of the kits to your specifications so that maximum playability can be obtained. The rooms are soundproofed so well that you can play as loud as you want and make as many mistakes as needed without disrupting other drummers/musicians and bands doing their thing. Each solo practice room comes with a small amp/pa combo for light jamming ,a music stand(for my charts), and finally and most important point of all, the prices cannot be beat. The happy hour special is a life saver. A special place indeed.
Response: Thanks so much PT! We love having you here.
JR Franks
JR Franks: 7DC is THE place to be if you’re a musician in the DMV. This space has it all: Ample rehearsal space, lessons with seasoned local musicians, open jam events, Flashband, and now full-on shows with the opening of The Pocket. Miles (the owner) has poured his time and energy into making 7DC one of the most welcoming environments in the local scene. You’re guaranteed to meet lots of really cool people no matter your reason for coming.
John Folstrom
John Folstrom: I have been practicing and taking lessons at 7DL for about six months now and I have been incredibly happy with my experience. The quality of lessons is great with teachers who not only know their stuff, but know how to transfer that knowledge to their students in an effective way. The staff is helpful and laid back. The variety of practice spaces is awesome and allows one to practice solo or jam with other musicians. Overall this is a fantastic stop to learn drums, practice drums or jam out.
