National Conservatory of Arts: what do users think?

Bosede: I have been learning piano 2017. Miss Jacqueline Banks has been a great teacher to me and has taught me on the piano. Everyone is very nice and I have people to talk to. Various music skills are taught to students. The director only hires certified people. If you want your child to master an instrument come here.

Malaika Hill: My 5, 7, and 8 year old children have been fortunate to take piano lessons with Jacqueline Banks. Mrs. Banks has such a caring and patient nature with the children. It's amazing what the children have able to learn in such a short amount of time. I am truly impressed and excited to see their continued progression! My 8 year old child is also taking voice lessons with Ms. Siera who takes a very nurturing and supportive approach to voice coaching. I have noticed a marked difference in my child's technique and confidence when singing, and she loves her lessons with Ms. Siera.

Ruth Birhanu: The Conservatory is a prefect place to get music lessons. My sons have been learning piano from the Conservatory of Arts with Ms. Jacqueline Banks since 2015. They started with summer camp and then continued with private piano lessons. She is a wonderful teacher who is very patient while teaching kids. My sons love her private lessons. They have improved a lot through the past 5 years. When I hear them playing the piano, it makes me happy and proud of my sons.

Ketaki Jain: My family has been learning piano from Jacqueline Banks at the National Conservatory of Arts for about 3 years now and LOVE her. My son started with her when he was 2 years old. He is almost 5, getting really good and still loves her classes. I started more recently. Jacqueline has seemingly infinite patience with the little ones, but also has a knack for knowing how to change course with lesson plan to keep them engaged and learning. With me, she has challenged me to learn pieces I would never expected to be able to play. It’s been an eye opener for me and really fun! I highly recommend their program!

Greg Sitzmann: Our daughter started taking piano lessons at the Conservatory when she was 6. It has now been four years and she loves her weekly lessons. Ms. Jacqueline is an excellent teacher who is very patient. Even when Covid made in-person learning impossible, Ms. Jacqueline pivoted to online without missing a beat. We are so pleased with our daughter’s growth and enjoyment with piano. I highly recommend.

Tamara: Conservatory is a wonderful place. My 10 year old's been there for 2 years now. He started with the summer camp and continued with the after school program. Learning is structured (but not so much the kids would notice!), and I was quite impressed that they include history of music and music theory in the after school program. As he got more serious about the piano, we got him private lessons in addition to the group ones (during the after school hours, which was very convenient). The lessons are amazing! Miss Jackie is incredibly patient and very invested in the kids she teaches.

Tanisha Wilburn: I have been taking piano lessons with the Conservatory for the past five years. It has truly been a pleasurable experience working with my teacher, Jacqueline, and I look forward to our weekly lessons. If you want to learn to play the piano, I highly recommend using the Conservatory. The lessons are engaging and fun and the instruction from Jacqueline is always encouraging and thoughtful.

Amy Bauer: Fantastic music program! The National Conservatory of Arts has served as a musical lifeline for our family. Our daughter, June started at the Conservatory through its after-school program nearly three years ago, where she participated in small group music lessons for drums, piano, and cello. For nearly two years, the Conservatory's cello instructor, Mr. Walker provided small group lessons for June and another student once a week as part of this program. His instruction and motivation helped nurture June's original interest in cello. In March 2020, the coronavirus pandemic hit and schools closed, leaving many parents scrambling to help their children cope with the stress of social isolation. I immediately reached out to the Conservatory's director, Ms. Banks to determine how we could continue cello instruction virtually, never imaging how long the school shutdown would actually last. Ms. Banks' commitment to music instruction and learning came through. She demonstrated tremendous flexibility and creativity in her efforts to make weekly lessons work, despite the uncertainty stemming from the early days of the pandemic. In less than a week, Ms. Banks arranged for virtual cello instruction with Mr. Walker. In this past year, June has flourished as a young cellist, learning scales, hand positions, and mastering more difficult pieces. We owe many thanks to Mr. Walker, Ms. Banks, and the Conservatory for making these weekly cello lessons happen through Zoom. This virtual music instruction has been an integral part of her mental health and musical growth during this most difficult year. It has served as one of the few positive and enjoyable constants in our daughter's life. As I listen to June's cello music fill our house with beautiful sound, I cannot imagine how we would have managed without the support of the National Conservatory of Arts.

Angelica Norman-Beltran: Hi highly recommend the National Conservatory of Arts to anyone, especially adultsz who are interested in learning how to play the piano. I started group adult lessons prior to th COVID Pandemic and meet Jacqueline Banks through my cousin who had started taking lessons in 2019. Group lesson rates are very reasonably priced and Jackie is great at encouraging students to find their own spin on songs we want to learn. When the pandemic limited in person classes, NCA was really quick at changing how lessons were done, switching to a virtual one-on-one format, which has worked out really well!

Jalpan Ringwala: Great Piano lessons for our 5yo. Very inviting teachers and our daughter really looks forward to the classes. Their teaching style is very positive and encouraging - love this place!!

Middle C Music: what do users think?

James Hurwitz: Without reservation, Middle C Music deserves the highest possible recommendation. They did a superb job of cleaning up and giving an overall tune-up to my antique guitar and repairing my antique mandolin. In the process, I saw how the staff at Middle C —Nick, Tom, Dave and Hillary — interacted not just with me but customers and students of all ages and abilities. What I appreciated most was their low key manner and the pleasure they took in enhancing the joy that others got from their instruments, music, and lessons. This is truly an excellent music store.
Response: Thanks so much for all your kind words, Jim! Always a pleasure working with you, and of course, you're welcome back anytime-- in fact, if you drop by on the 19th, we'll be having a 20th anniversary celebration with cake, prizes, and live performances. We're honored to be your local music store, and hope to continue serving you and maintaining your lovely instruments for years to come. -Tom F.

Gillian Edick: We popped into Middle C to have a guitar restrung and tuned. They did it quickly, but more importantly made it great fun for my aspiring but beginner guitarist. Tom was amazing - so helpful and took the time to show my son how to tune the guitar, hold it and get started. Really fantastic service. Thanks Tom and team!
Response: Thanks so much, Gillian. Helping musicians have fun getting started is one of my favorite things about working in our community. Come back anytime to show off his progress! -T

Paul Myers: I purchased a piano from these fine people, and I love it. It was very competitively priced. I have also purchased a guitar, and I have had these folks restring several guitars, and they do a great job —and again, the price is right. I love supporting small businesses, and Middle C Music is one of the best!
Response: Thanks so much! Very kind words. Glad you're enjoying the piano.

Phyllis Pierce: I had a small (thankfully) issue with the guitar I'm teaching myself to play. So I took it to Middle C in hopes they could fix it and it wouldn't be away from me too long. They fixed my issue on the spot and for free!! They are very friendly and that guy really knew his guitars. I think they have a long term customer here!!
Response: Thanks for stopping by Phyllis! We're looking forward to seeing you back at Middle C soon. If you have time this Saturday, why not drop by for our 20th Anniversary celebration? We'll have cake, prizes, and live performances happening all day long!

Christopher Tripoli: I fell in love with an instrument I found here called a "U-Bass," but I'm left-handed so couldn't use the one on display. Had them order a lefty model for me, and couldn't be happier with their service! Tom F was excellent to work with. A fun neighborhood store that I eagerly recommend!
Response: Thanks for the review, Chris! I'm really happy we were able to deliver. Come back and show off your U-Bass skills anytime! -TF

Fernando Nogueira: Super friendly and helpful staff. We were missing a very specific guitar screw and they helped us out in no time.

Ricky Webster: Amazingly friendly and helpful staff! Middle C is a great place to pick up your general music needs, but maybe isn't the best specifically for guitar equipment. They still have the basics for guitar, and will order anything you need! I have also used their guitar repair/tune-up service and everything was great. Thanks!
Response: Thank you, Ricky! We can't wait to have you back in the store.

Susanna Gregory: I LOVED it here! Stopped by for a new guitar and the staff was immediately willing to help and super friendly. The prices were great and I was really impressed with all the cool little things you could buy too! I didn’t get the names of the people who helped me but they were fantastic
Response: Thank you, Susanna! I'm glad we were able to help you find the right guitar, and we really appreciate your support. See you again! - Nick (and Tom and Dave) :)

Rebecca Brenner: I hadn't sought out new strings for my guitar since 2017. so every ~4yr when I get restrung, I only trust one music shop to touch my green guitar: Middle C Music. they do a fabulous job! I wouldn't recommend waiting 4yr for new strings -- or 10+yr for a new case -- but I highly recommend Middle C Music for all services!
Response: Thanks so much Rebecca! We'll see you in another four years!!

Michelle Long: I had the best time at Middle C Music! Everyone was super knowledgeable, supportive, and friendly. I came in looking for a 3/4 size acoustic guitar for traveling and had my pick of a beautiful selection. Big fan!! Will return!
Response: Wooo! Thanks Michelle, hope you enjoy the new guitar!

Music on the Hill: what do users think?

Maritza Cooper: What a lovely place to not only purchase an instrument but learn how to use it! We started with my granddaughter learning the violin and moved on to mommy taking guitar lessons. Very homey atmosphere and great with kids of all ages! When I finally have the time I want to learn how to play drums!

Donovan Dorrance: Aaron hooked me up with a great set-up for my telecaster. Helped fix some intonation issues. So very grateful for his expertise, efficiency, and kindness. Highly recommend coming here! They will treat you right!!!

Shawn Benson: Music on the Hill - The Hill’s own neighborhood music shop. Pretty cool. I’m a new client at Music on the Hill and I’m a very satisfied customer. My wife and I look forward to coming back, taking lessons, and recommending this neighborhood music shop to our musically-inclined or curious friends. Their prices are often just as good (and sometimes better) than their competition. The customer service/expertise is spot-on. And, you feel good knowing your money is going back to a small, local business. Frankly, it’s an investment in our community and that’s almost reason enough these days. Give them a shot. They don’t have everything, but they’ve got a lot and it was more than enough for us.

anne phelps: My whole family loves Music on the Hill! Lindy is a terrific resource on all things music related. We’ve had great experiences with lessons (clarinet and guitar) and when we wanted to upgrade to a wooden clarinet, Lindy & Luke found us a quality used instrument. If there’s something we need and they don’t have it, they’ve always been able to get it in short order. Music on the Hill is everything a local music store should be.

DAVID BAROI: On March 29th around 5 pm Me and my friend wanted to check this store out we are not from the dc area and we drove during rush hour traffic took us 40 min. But where we arrived I was keen on checking out the guitars and my buddy wanted to get a a quarter in jack. After we went in we an employee Middle Aged female was being rude as soon as we walked i; she made us feel very uncomfortable and eying us down the whole time. My friend even purchased a product and yet she was keen on getting us out the door and I was in the middle of considering purchasing the fender Stratocaster Mexico made but yet she was nudging for the door. After being in there not even for 10 min she came up and told us we had to leave. And so we abided by what she said and left. But will I go back again ? No how can i go into a music store and spend over a hundred dollar on anything without taking my time on inspecting that product.
Response: David- I'm very sorry that you felt rushed at Music on the Hill. Unfortunately, you did show up 15 minutes before our posted closing hours, and I (the middle aged women you talk about) had a family obligation that could not be put off. If you are still interested in the Fender, give us a call at the store, and we can set up an appointment to ensure that you get all the time you need.

Amaobi Otiji: I had an enjoyable experience buying a guitar here. Their shop setup is really aesthetically pleasing and their selections were all from very quality makers. The staff were very helpful in finding something that fit me by giving me a lot of options to work with. I also enjoyed them showing off the instruments with their musical skills.
Response: Amaobi- thank you for your kind words! I hope you are still enjoying your guitar!

Eric Schneider: Since this place added a guitar tech and luthier, I have taken in three guitars and received perfect setups and provided great service in general. So glad to have these folks in Capitol Hill instead of having to give a conglomerate like Guitar Center my business!

Kevin Wholihan: Had an amazing purchasing experience here and came away with a gorgeous acoustic. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, quickly found me the right size and a great fit. Very good COVID precautions. Will be back for my next major purchase.
Response: Thanks Kevin!

La Rana: I live in PA, but we were visiting DC while my daughter's school was having a 30-day music challenge of students practicing their instrument every day. Not wanting to lug a cello in our small car to and from DC, I called Music on the Hill and explained my unusual request. Luke was kind enough to set aside a cello for my daughter so she could practice for 10 minutes and get credit for playing that day. Not only that, but one of the employees helped her tune the cello. Thanks for your dedication to young musicians!
Response: Esther- thanks for your kind review! It was lovely to meet you and your family, and we are always exited to support musicians!

Allison Eriksen: Can't speak to their lessons or guitar supplies, which seem to be their mainstay. I was looking for piano music and selection was very limited so I didn't find anything I wanted. Woodwind and other marching band supplies are pretty non-existent. I play clarinet and they only had the softest reeds, a few books for learners, a cleaning kit and that was it. I know its a small space, but I would love to have a music supply store locally for all instruments.
Response: Allison- thanks for the review. The plan is to keep adding depth to all of our departments, including woodwinds. Until we are able to stock "everything"- I can special order in just about anything you might need.

TR Music & Voice Lessons: what do users think?

Greta Burrows: Both my kids really like their instructors. They are patient and knowledgeable. My son has been playing piano for over 6 years and my daughter started violin.
Response: Hi Greta, Thank you for the wonderful review! We have lots of great instructors in the Washington area but we are so glad to hear that your kids learned so much with their music lessons instructor. Keep us updated on their progress!

Karmen Armitage: My son has learned more piano in eight months of instruction then he did in eighteen months with his prior teacher. He incorporates all of the important aspects of a musical education in his lessons.

Yuriko Puryear: I would recommend her anytime for guitar lessons. My son has learned a lot considering he has only been taking lessons since the end of September.
Response: Great to hear from you. Always good to hear of more success with our music lessons instructor there in Washington. Thanks for wonderful review!

Sherryl Murr: If you need piano lessons, contact him. His price is very reasonable and he's just a great guy. I highly recommend him!
Response: Thanks for the feedback and review Sherryl! He is a phenomenal instructor and we are lucky to have him here in Washington.

Dorathy Conner: Not only is he damn good on the guitar, but he is a really good teacher. He knew right away what I am capable of and came up with a lesson plan that is awesome.
Response: Wow, good guitar instructor ever is a great compliment. I'll let her know that all is good at our Washington music lessons studio.

Gussie Levine: She is patient, makes it fun, and adheres to each individual student's needs.

Quartertonez Music: what do users think?

Mina Yuen: I've been taking private Oud classes here since August, and I love my instructor, Mr Foty. Prior to my first class I received a lovely phone call, which, allowed me to get to know my instructor. I was not disappointed and left feeling even more excited and less nervous about my first lesson. Mr Foty is a highly knowledgeable, patient, talented, kind hearted and understanding instructor. He has put me at ease from day one, which is especially important to me as an adult learner. I have heard him with is younger students too and he extends the same kind heartedness and understanding to them as well. He aims to makes his classes, fun and geared toward the students interests and abilities. I never leave a lesson feeling like I have 'bitten off more than I can chew' so to speak. He gently pushes you, but, never makes you feel stressed or that you are not good enough. I know this review is about one instructor, as I have yet to meet an other instructors and about private lessons. Perhaps I will update this in a few months as I will be taking an up an coming group lesson for Oud and an concurrent Arabic music theory class in January. I am stoked, as I hope this will give me chance to meet other Oud players and another instructor! Oh, and this should go without saying, but, might be important for someone. You do not need to be Arab or speak Arabic in order to take lessons. He is happy to share his passion for music to all who also have a passion for music.
Response: Thank you Mina for your excellent review!

Arlene Baker: Quartertonez A Musical and Dramatic Note Above the Rest “Kids are filled with joy and wonder. Their imagination is endless and it is important for teachers and educators a like to be able to get the most out of them. With a little bit of direction and motivation kids can achieve anything they want”. As the NANA of nine years old twin granddaughters who have been students of Quartertonez since it’s original opening, our family can attest to the talents that have been unearthed and are developing in them. Whether it is piano, script writing, acting or stage set creations we have seen them develop their skills and perform with joy. The instructors at Quartertonez are revered by them. Most importantly, even though they are challenged, they have fun with these fabulous talented teachers. Our family also wants to applaud Quartertonez for the way they have adjusted to the “new normal” that we have all had to live with because of COVID 19. Quartertonez never missed a beat, or a note. They have continued to engage our children in instruction in their fields and our children have continued to excel with ZOOM instruction, and performances. Arlene Holt Baker A Happy NANA Praising Quartertonez 🎶 🎹 🎭
Response: Thank you Arlene for your excellent review!

Mason Carter: Quartertonez did so much for me and getting into music. They taught me piano first which just blossomed into other instruments. I could never learn music before because everyone just taught me in the classical music theory kinda way. Fairouz and the other instructors taught me that music can really be learned by connect with the inner soul. I finally feel connected to music, it's fun, and they helped me break down a lot of barriers that held me back. I can't say enough that if you want to learn music in a way that's gonna stick, go with Quartertonez.

Iman Mostafa: I’ve recently begun taking oud lessons with Fuad, and have been really impressed by the commitment and care he puts into our sessions. Fuad is very patient, conscientious, and does all he can to ensure that our lessons are productive and enjoyable. This is my first time taking music lessons in over a decade and a half, and I can confidently say that he and Quartertonez have made my return to playing an instrument an excellent decision.
Response: Thank you Iman for your excellent review!

Julie Blum: A little more than two years ago, I decided I wanted to learn to play the Oud. I had no prior experience with the instrument and I was delighted to find Fuad, the founder of Qurtertonez who was willing to teach me. He teaches the stories behind the music, not just the notes. He is so patient and fun and passionate about music. He imparts culture and is dedicated to music as a vehicle for soothing the spirit. This doesn’t mean his standards aren’t high. They are very high, and I am proud of what I have learned and the skill I have developed! Qaurtertonez promotes community and teaches music in the process. Great school!!!
Response: Thank you Julie for your excellent review!

David Leiner: We cannot say enough good things about Fayrooz and Fuad. Our two sons enjoy and have made so much progress in their lessons for piano and Arabic drumming! Beyond their technical expertise, both have such a friendly, happy and gentle manner with kids. We cannot recommend them highly enough!
Response: Thank you David for your excellent review!

Nahla Aboutabl: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueIt’s been wonderful being a oud student at Quartertonez Music under the instruction of Mr. Fuad. He is patient and flexible and will cater to each students needs and learning styles. I highly recommend Quartertonez Music to anyone especially those interested in playing Arab instruments!!
Response: Thank you Nahla for your excellent review!

Samar Langhorne: I love this school! My daughters and I have had instruction from their teachers for a couple of years. The teachers have always been outstanding, so patient and they have great teaching methods that kept my daughters interested in music and fostered a love for it! I would recommend this school to anyone who is serious about studying music!
Response: Thank you Samar for your excellent review!

Fuad Foty: Quartertonez Music is a DMV-based music school where we grow and nurture the TONEZ within. Our curriculum utilizes western classical pedagogy as well as oral, improvisation, world music and rote learning to create a unique holistic approach to teaching music. We strongly believe that every one of our students from youngest to oldest have special, creative gifts that we can cultivate, foster and hone through our unique approach. Whether you are an aspiring musical professional or a recreational learner, we encourage all our students to enjoy and fully embrace their musical passions and unlock their own special talents.
Response: Thank you Fuad for your excellent review!

Mohammed Aljoumari: I’m glad I signed up in this school! Such happy and positive atmosphere. Family owned and operated. Great ways to learn music . I can’t believe I now play oud, it was always a dream for me and thanks to them I am on my way to be professional at it .
Response: Thank you Mohammed for your excellent review!

Washington Conservatory of Music: what do users think?

Jolie Blanchard Brown: I'm an adult piano student at Washington Conservatory of Music where I receive superior instruction from Ms. Dionne Laufman. She makes learning fun! During the COVID-19 pandemic the lessons are being taught virtually. We haven't missed a beat! I like studying at WCM where I feel part of the music community. In addition to providing individual and class instruction on a variety of instruments (and voice), WCM offers public concerts, student recitals, and master classes. WCM is a great place to study music.

Diana Rumrill: Wonderful place to take lessons, attend high quality concerts, and find a supportive community of other adult music students!

Carol Henry: I started at WCM in 2016 as an adult piano student with Dionne Laufman. I had played the piano for several years as a child in Trinidad (my home country), but I had stopped as an adult. After several decades, I decided to resume piano and found WCM where I enrolled. It has been a very enlightening AND fun learning experience, and I am sorely disappointed that the pandemic has interrupted my personal lessons with a great piano teacher whom I love! The whole point of taking lessons on any instrument is to improve one's playing and technique in order to draw the most beautiful sound out of the instrument. I learned the basics as a child, but at WCM I entered a whole new world of learning with Ms Laufman. She was able to zero in on my faults and show me exactly what to do to correct them (the hallmark of a good teacher!). She taught me about color, and nuance, and touch, and posture, and technique, and so many other things that can transform music from plain and boring to beautiful and enchanting. After 4 years with Dionne, I can actually hear the tremendous improvement in my piano-playing and I am delighted with my progress! It is worth every penny I have spent. Others who have heard me play over the years have also remarked on it. I know that this is testament to the commitment and competence of my dear piano teacher at WCM. And from what I have seen, ALL the teachers at WCM are of this caliber! I would recommend WCM highly to anyone who is thinking about taking lessons on any instrument. In addition to the wide exposure and performance opportunities it provides in this culture-rich metropolitan area, the school is well-organized, well-run, and full of highly competent teachers who obviously love what they do!

Lessons In Your Home: what do users think?

Michael: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityThis made getting lessons for my 3 kids a snap. I even started taking guitar lessons with them. They found Josh who can teach the kids piano and guitar for myself. Kids are having a blast and I am enjoying picking up the guitar again. Josh is great. Patient with the kids and myself. He is a real pleasure.
Response: Michael, we are so glad your family is enjoying music lessons with Lessons In Your Home! We appreciate you letting us bring music into your home!

Christina Malekiani: We have had a wonderful experience with both of our children and LIYH. We have been clients since before covid and have been impressed with their rapid changes in protocols for covid that were simultaneously so smooth and made for easy transitions for the kids. After also taking a hiatus from one instrument for one child, LIYH was so helpful in transitioning that child back to another instrument and with a different coach that was an even better fit. Heather is extremely professional and proactive and an excellent communicator. She listens well to what each family and child needs and guides appropriately with her recommendations and seems to be spot on. Joseph has been absolutely amazing with our daughter on guitar—one of the most patient, kind teachers we have seen and knows how to keep her motivated and excited. She loves him and can’t wait for lessons each week with him! Nicole has been wonderful on piano with our son and knows how to challenge him appropriately while still keeping him encouraged. We have been extremely pleased with LIYH and will continue to work with them as long as our kids keep enjoying playing an instrument.
Response: Christina, we can't thank you enough for the kind words about Lessons In Your Home! Your feedback is important to us and lets us know we're on the right track! Thank you for letting us be a part of your musical experience!

Tammie Dzubak: My son is a beginner at violin. Joseph has successfully taught him via Zoom (due to the pandemic). Joseph is patient, encouraging, and motivating. He truly understands how to teach children. Most importantly Joseph has instilled confidence in him and he is eager to practice daily. We look forward to a time when Joseph and my son can practice together.
Response: Thank you for your kind words about Joseph, he loves working with your son!

Fallon McNeil: Steve Boone (Richmond VA) is so kind, patient, and fun with our two children (ages 10 and 7). Their excitement and love for music has only increased since starting lessons with him. Heather made the enrollment process effortless and answered all of our questions thoroughly. We have had a WONDERFUL experience with this company. Thank you!

Dudley's B Sharp Academy: what do users think?

VJ Kapur: Daryl has been teaching my child piano since she was 4 and has done a great job of keeping her attention throughout their 30-minute lessons. He indulges her stories/distractions just enough, while keeping her on task. He has many exercises for her level of comprehension/dexterity, and covers the instrument, basics of music theory and notation, and other topics in an engaging way. I highly recommend to folks, especially ones who think their 3- or 4-year-old isn't ready for lessons!

Normajean Freeland: Having enrolled in Dudley's B Sharp Academy and having Mr. Daryl Dudley as my teacher has been enlightening and refreshing. He shows that he wants you to succeed. I am so happy I enrolled in the Academy and look forward to my weekly sessions. I recommend the Academy whenever someone expresses an interest in playing a musical instrument.

Lisa Jamison: A great learning experience! Being a beginner piano student, the training I received from Mr. Dudley was great especially since I didn’t know my way around the piano. He is very patient and thorough. I definitely would recommend this studio for all your musical ambitions!

fatima khambaty: Mr Dudley is patient and meets you right where you are- even as an adult student . He was able to assess me right away and we jumped right back (after my break of 25 years) into piano Lessons. He understands even though I have no jazz background how to get me to start thinking differently from my classical training. Honestly- he makes learning fun, easy and less daunting ! Thank you !

Lamia Matta: My 5-year old daughter loved taking ukulele classes with Mr. Dudley. After only a few classes, she became very enthusiastic about playing music. The classes also gave her a lot of confidence. Mr. Dudley is super kind and has a very very nice manner. I highly highly recommend the school.

HARVEY Harris: He is an excellent teacher and my 8y/o son has learned so much in a short time. He gets right down to business, and he allows him to advance at his own pace. My son looks forward to piano lessons every week. I would recommend him to anyone; a true christian demeanor on top of it all.

Bruce Britton: Working with Coach Dudley has been an amazing experience, He is very encouraging and I like that he pushes you put of your comfort zone in order for you to grow as a vocalist. I have worked with him and seen improvement as a singer. I definitely would recommend taking up his classes to anyone!

Natasha: Mr Dudley is great! My kiddos (ages 5&3) love taking lessons with him. I especially appreciate his approach in teaching younger kids.

kara taylor: Amazing, amazing, amazing. One lesson and I saw my daughter shine! She is autistic with add and Darryl was so patient with her. I am a thankful and proud mom.

Maryland: I went to this academy for voice lessons to build up my vocal range + to learn breathing techniques. I also took key board lessons online to help pass the time during pandemic lock down. Bro Dudley is a natural for pulling out talents that you didn't know you had. He builds up your confidence. "Come on you can do it I have confidence in you". He is very patient and a professional musician of which he loves to share his musical talents. Dudley is a great guy and a man of faith. I would highly recommend Dudley B Sharp Academy. D Whte

Levine Music - DC Campus: NW: what do users think?

Corey Newman: My 8 year old son first did one of the 3 week summer camps, and is now enrolled in group piano. His playing abilities have really progressed rapidly, and he enjoys playing. He even tolerates practicing at home most days. I'd certainly recommend Levine for both summer camp and also weekly lessons during the school year. If the weather is nice, there's a small outdoor play area for siblings.

Rojeana: I've been at Levine for four years now. My violin has improved so much because of it, it's been an amazing experience so far.

Han Chen: Administration is a mess. I was ignored by different people. I don’t know this place, but at my job, I was expected to reply and respond when asked a work-related question.

Gilles Alfandari: Music teachers at the top of their art, for all ages and levels.

Joma A Washirapunya: International School of Music is a great school for any type of music class. My daughter has been doing a virtual class for a year now. Despite it’s still being online, she still learns a lot. The staff is helpful and quick to respond to all my questions. I am happy that we enrolled her at ISM.

Chong Zhang: We had a very good experience with ISM for my daughter’s violin class. Her teacher Kimia is amazing!

Linda Shiner: Young is an accomplished guitarist who is very patient and helpful with beginners. He shows you precisely how to move your fingers to get the best benefit from practice.

Carmen Bellacasa: My daughter loves meeting with her instructor weekly. I highly recommend.

Ryan John Estorninos: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueThe International School of Music has been the perfect place for my daughter to harness her natural talent. Chevy Chase Arts Academy: what do users think?

Suz Brown: I have a 6 year old boy who has been taking piano lessons at CCAA for a year now. He loves his lessons and is already sight reading! His teacher, Miss Olivia, is positive, upbeat, and full of laughter. It is clear that Levon, the director, is very much connected in the music community and there are many talented teachers here. Best of all, the environment is warm, and we have been treated like family from day 1, even during the worst of the pandemic.
Response: Thanks so much, Suz! We really appreciate your support.

Jonathan Kula: Nearly my entire family takes lessons at Chevy Chase Arts Academy, and we could not be happier with our experience. Our youngest, 8, has been progressing and enjoying the piano for months now. Her instructor, Manuel De La Luz, is patient and inspiring, and gives perfect feedback. Our other daughter and I take guitar from Arnell Byrd, who is both effortlessly cool and also teaches theory in an accessible way. Levon Mikailean, the founder, has been extremely supportive in making our family musical. The website is easy to navigate, and the zoom lessons are very effective. Still much to learn, but we are playing together and enjoying the practice! No, really, we are! I cannot recommend these folks more highly. They are just the best.
Response: Thanks so much for the positive review, Jon! We love having you guys as a part of our CCAA family! 😊

Aram Stepanyan: My son has been learning piano for almost 5 years now. We used to change teachers a lot because of their availability and we are so glad to finally meet Mr. Levon last year. I have to say Mr. Levon is the best among our experience in the past few years. He is very patient with kids, knows the proper way to teach them. Just not sure what his magic is, but he's the only one get my son practice without complaining every night. Highly recommend Mr. Levon if anyone is interested in taking lessons in piano, guitar, vocal...
Response: Dear Aram, Thanks so much for your positive review!

Pavel Khrimian: This Academy is fantastic! Everything you want to see in art/music academy. Very talented teachers, very friendly, and convenient in terms of availability. Highly recommend piano lessons with Levon, as both my daughters are taking piano lessons with him. Any instrument you can think of they offer lessons, wide range of professional instructors, which is awesome to see in this area. Definitely recommend Chevy Chase Arts Academy Maryland.
Response: We appreciate your positive review, Pavel.

Margarita Saringulyan: My daughter really enjoys her piano classes and is excited not only to go to class but also practice at home. Music is a big part of her life now! We are thankful we found the Academy and highly recommend the piano teacher Levon!!!
Response: Thanks so much for your review, Margarita! Best, CCAA team.

Vaughn Martirosyan: Levon is phenomenal musician and a great teacher. I've never seen my kid being so excited about his art class. He takes individual approach to kids and make them feel like they are playing a game while he downloads his knowledge of music in to the children's minds. Im very pleased with his work and my sons progress!
Response: Thanks so much, Vaughn!

Tatevik Gevorgyan: We decided to join the Chevy Chase Art Academy as our last try before giving up – or at least pausing – on music. After we started our classes with Bienvenido, in only a month I saw how our child (8yo) changed completely. The teachers at the Academy are professionals, very gentle and thoughtful with kids and they make the learning process fun for them. They show individual approach to every student – key to every learning process. After only 5 months of classes, my son plays music all the time, whenever he has a free moment. I don’t need to ever remind him to practice – he enjoys it. I am so glad we gave this school a chance before giving up, because now we are looking forward to our music classes with delight and big hopes.
Response: Dear Tatevik, thanks so much for your kind words. CCAA

Ruth Trombka: As an adult I have attempted to play the piano three time in the past. Levon is the first teacher to make it feel like an achievable goal. His relaxing style, as well as his emphasis on enjoying the process of making music (while also teaching the necessary fundamentals), has helped me feel fearless and completely capable. I imagine he is equally easy-going yet effective with children. He is simply a kind and gentle person who seems to derive sincere pleasure from helping others learn, no matter their level.
Response: Thanks so much for your review, Ruth!

Lauren Theriot: Wonderful music school! Very qualified and dedicated instructors and a wonderful environment to learn!
Response: Thanks so much for your review, Lauren.

Tata M: My daughter loves these classes! I have recommended this school to our school friends as well! The teachers do such a great job of being relatable to the kids, making them want to keep going! Thank you, guys!
Response: Thanks so much, Tata!

Maria Abreu-Blanco: We have attended for a couple of years, on the early childhood program. My son participated in the group classes, he loved his teacher and it was a great experience overall. Now we hove move to private lessons, piano, the instructor is great and my kid enjoys the lessons.

Audrey Shi: ISM is great! It's well-organized, and I really enjoyed my voice lessons with Dara, who was lovely and knowledgeable. I'll be back once I have more time and means for lessons. The location is very convenient, and I had a terrific experience!

Brad Dengler: Great Place to teach kids music. Accommodating scheduling and very patient teachers that get my children excited about learning music and looking forward to their next lesson.

soomin lee: Staffs are great!! My kids love their flute teacher.

Allyson Leung: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityMy daughter has been taking violin lessons for 9 months. We are very pleased with her progress. Miss Dana is very patient with my 6 years old daughter and very knowledgeable as well.

Vishal Sinha: Our kids go to International School of Music for their weekly music sessions. They are just starting out on their musical journey and this can be a challenge for both the kids, and the teachers. We really appreciate the patience of the instructor - she is really doing a good job introducing our kids to music and is patient with them. The front desk staff is very friendly too and helps us quite a bit to set the weekly schedule. The new location is perfect for us and the facilities are really nice!

Elizabeth Clifton: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueISM has great, timely communication, especially during these days of requiring on-the-spot technical coordination and they have been excellent about providing extra time when technical struggles prevent on-time starts. About two months in and very happy with the lessons my child is receiving.

Raquel B. Saltsman: We love ISM and our ukulele teacher!

Manoela Borges: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueWe love ISM. Our eight-year old has taken violin lessons for almost two years and has progressed beautifully. The instructor is supportive and engaging, and the ISM staff are helpful and friendly. We enjoy the flexibility of ISM along with the instructor and staff’s professional approach to teaching.

7DrumCity: what do users think?

P T: Perfect little studio for shedding on your own. Big rooms are great for bands and there are also solo piano rehearsal rooms as well. All of the rooms are fully equipped with top of the line gear and all of the gear is well maintained. If a problem arises with the house gear, the staff will replace it quickly and efficiently. I witnessed this first hand. As a working drummer of almost 30 years, I love the fact that I do not have to bring any gear aside from my stick bag. You can adjust all of the kits to your specifications so that maximum playability can be obtained. The rooms are soundproofed so well that you can play as loud as you want and make as many mistakes as needed without disrupting other drummers/musicians and bands doing their thing. Each solo practice room comes with a small amp/pa combo for light jamming ,a music stand(for my charts), and finally and most important point of all, the prices cannot be beat. The happy hour special is a life saver. A special place indeed.
Response: Thanks so much PT! We love having you here.

JR Franks: 7DC is THE place to be if you’re a musician in the DMV. This space has it all: Ample rehearsal space, lessons with seasoned local musicians, open jam events, Flashband, and now full-on shows with the opening of The Pocket. Miles (the owner) has poured his time and energy into making 7DC one of the most welcoming environments in the local scene. You’re guaranteed to meet lots of really cool people no matter your reason for coming.

Angela Rivera: I just recently became a student at 7DrumCity learning how to play the drums and it's been a blast so far! My onboarding process was smooth, I discussed what I was looking for and my interests with Miles. I was paired with Isabelle who is awesome! This is my first experience learning a new instrument as an adult and I'm very impressed with the location, clean practice rooms with great equipment, COVID precautions they are taking seriously and people. The prices are also reasonable and they have many membership options for various budget ranges. Jasmine and Eman were at the front desk during my first visit and made me feel very welcome as well as gave me a thorough tour. I look forward to meeting more people in this great community!
Response: Aww, thanks Angela!! It was great meeting you virtually -- looking forward to more exciting things to come back to life as Covid eases back.

Isaac Natter: 7 Drum City is a treasure! They have *amazing* teachers that are helping my son develop a genuine love of music, and serve as mentors and role models, as well as teachers. Moreover, 7 Drum City has a great, chill vibe, with friendly, helpful staff, and is a fantastic place to practice (and more than just drums) or hang out and talk music. 7 Drum City is the best place in DC to learn an instrument, but also an integral part of the DC music scene. We're lucky to have 7 Drum City!
Response: Thanks Isaac! We love having you here

Brian Ossip: 7DL is the best. My band has been practicing there for over a year, and we've had nothing but absolutely awesome experiences. All of the available spaces and studios sound great and have top of the line equipment, and the staff that works there is great. On top of it all, Miles, the owner, does an amazing job of promoting and supporting the local music scenes. We've met and become friends with a lot of great bands and musicians through our association with 7 Drum Lessons.

John Folstrom: I have been practicing and taking lessons at 7DL for about six months now and I have been incredibly happy with my experience. The quality of lessons is great with teachers who not only know their stuff, but know how to transfer that knowledge to their students in an effective way. The staff is helpful and laid back. The variety of practice spaces is awesome and allows one to practice solo or jam with other musicians. Overall this is a fantastic stop to learn drums, practice drums or jam out.

Dan Villar: I've been taking lessons here for a little more than a month. The lessons are tailored to what the student wants to learn and so far with John I have been working on a nice mix of rudiments, fundamentals and rock beats and fills. I feel like I've progressed a lot in the time I've been here. All the teachers I've met are obviously passionate about their music and invested in making it a great experience for the student. The atmosphere is very welcoming and it really makes the lessons a lot of fun - every week I look forward to showing up a little early so I can hang out for a bit before the lesson starts. The place has a real feel of community for anyone interested in music and it makes coming in to practice something always look forward to. One of the most unique parts of the studio is the ability for students to reserve (free and easily online) practice space on a full drum set, which is nice if you don't have your own. Since the place is so welcoming I never hesitate to reserve a space and I actually look forward to coming in for practice outside my scheduled lesson. I've tried taking lessons from home, going out to an instructor and through music stores before, for both drums and guitar, and my experience here has been heads and shoulders above any other. I highly recommend 7DrumLessons Drum Studio for anyone considering taking drum lessons, it's been well worth the price of admission for me. - Dan

Carlos Vizcarra: I've used 7DL both to rent practice space and as a student on drums. The practice space component is great- it is so difficult to find anyplace in DC and not only are there drum kits but also PAs and soundboards in the rooms. The lessons are excellent- the instructors are not only amazing drummers but also good, patient teachers that work well with a wide variety of students, from kids to adults, in all genres that you might want to learn.

Hilary March: I've been taking drum lessons from Miles for almost 2 years now. Miles is a great drum instructor, and I'm really excited about this awesome new studio! I didn't know a ride cymbal from a high hat when I started, but Miles has ably taught me the basics - technique, rudiments, etc. - as well as how to play a bunch of awesome songs. Miles is very positive and encouraging and is very dedicated to helping his students learn and improve.

Ariel Davis: The coolest, chillest, most happening-est music studios to meet local musicians and practice in DC! Every time I bring a friend by, their jaws seriously drop. The team that works there (led by Miles Ryan), is super helpful, cordial, friendly, and make you feel right at home. I took drum lessons during the summer with John Heinze, who plays in a bunch of different bands throughout the city and was one of the most patient and kind teachers I've ever met for a beginner like me. It is one of the best music studios in DC, and every room is sound proof. Definitely recommend!
