National Conservatory of Arts: what do users think?

Bosede: I have been learning piano 2017. Miss Jacqueline Banks has been a great teacher to me and has taught me on the piano. Everyone is very nice and I have people to talk to. Various music skills are taught to students. The director only hires certified people. If you want your child to master an instrument come here.

Ruth Birhanu: The Conservatory is a prefect place to get music lessons. My sons have been learning piano from the Conservatory of Arts with Ms. Jacqueline Banks since 2015. They started with summer camp and then continued with private piano lessons. She is a wonderful teacher who is very patient while teaching kids. My sons love her private lessons. They have improved a lot through the past 5 years. When I hear them playing the piano, it makes me happy and proud of my sons.

Ketaki Jain: My family has been learning piano from Jacqueline Banks at the National Conservatory of Arts for about 3 years now and LOVE her. My son started with her when he was 2 years old. He is almost 5, getting really good and still loves her classes. I started more recently. Jacqueline has seemingly infinite patience with the little ones, but also has a knack for knowing how to change course with lesson plan to keep them engaged and learning. With me, she has challenged me to learn pieces I would never expected to be able to play. It’s been an eye opener for me and really fun! I highly recommend their program!

Greg Sitzmann: Our daughter started taking piano lessons at the Conservatory when she was 6. It has now been four years and she loves her weekly lessons. Ms. Jacqueline is an excellent teacher who is very patient. Even when Covid made in-person learning impossible, Ms. Jacqueline pivoted to online without missing a beat. We are so pleased with our daughter’s growth and enjoyment with piano. I highly recommend.

Tanisha Wilburn: I have been taking piano lessons with the Conservatory for the past five years. It has truly been a pleasurable experience working with my teacher, Jacqueline, and I look forward to our weekly lessons. If you want to learn to play the piano, I highly recommend using the Conservatory. The lessons are engaging and fun and the instruction from Jacqueline is always encouraging and thoughtful.

Angelica Norman-Beltran: Hi highly recommend the National Conservatory of Arts to anyone, especially adultsz who are interested in learning how to play the piano. I started group adult lessons prior to th COVID Pandemic and meet Jacqueline Banks through my cousin who had started taking lessons in 2019. Group lesson rates are very reasonably priced and Jackie is great at encouraging students to find their own spin on songs we want to learn. When the pandemic limited in person classes, NCA was really quick at changing how lessons were done, switching to a virtual one-on-one format, which has worked out really well!

Jalpan Ringwala: Great Piano lessons for our 5yo. Very inviting teachers and our daughter really looks forward to the classes. Their teaching style is very positive and encouraging - love this place!!

Quartertonez Music: what do users think?

Arlene Baker: Quartertonez A Musical and Dramatic Note Above the Rest “Kids are filled with joy and wonder. Their imagination is endless and it is important for teachers and educators a like to be able to get the most out of them. With a little bit of direction and motivation kids can achieve anything they want”. As the NANA of nine years old twin granddaughters who have been students of Quartertonez since it’s original opening, our family can attest to the talents that have been unearthed and are developing in them. Whether it is piano, script writing, acting or stage set creations we have seen them develop their skills and perform with joy. The instructors at Quartertonez are revered by them. Most importantly, even though they are challenged, they have fun with these fabulous talented teachers. Our family also wants to applaud Quartertonez for the way they have adjusted to the “new normal” that we have all had to live with because of COVID 19. Quartertonez never missed a beat, or a note. They have continued to engage our children in instruction in their fields and our children have continued to excel with ZOOM instruction, and performances. Arlene Holt Baker A Happy NANA Praising Quartertonez 🎶 🎹 🎭

Iman Mostafa: I’ve recently begun taking oud lessons with Fuad, and have been really impressed by the commitment and care he puts into our sessions. Fuad is very patient, conscientious, and does all he can to ensure that our lessons are productive and enjoyable. This is my first time taking music lessons in over a decade and a half, and I can confidently say that he and Quartertonez have made my return to playing an instrument an excellent decision.

Julie Blum: A little more than two years ago, I decided I wanted to learn to play the Oud. I had no prior experience with the instrument and I was delighted to find Fuad, the founder of Qurtertonez who was willing to teach me. He teaches the stories behind the music, not just the notes. He is so patient and fun and passionate about music. He imparts culture and is dedicated to music as a vehicle for soothing the spirit. This doesn’t mean his standards aren’t high. They are very high, and I am proud of what I have learned and the skill I have developed! Qaurtertonez promotes community and teaches music in the process. Great school!!!

David Leiner: We cannot say enough good things about Fayrooz and Fuad. Our two sons enjoy and have made so much progress in their lessons for piano and Arabic drumming! Beyond their technical expertise, both have such a friendly, happy and gentle manner with kids. We cannot recommend them highly enough!

Nahla Aboutabl: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueIt’s been wonderful being a oud student at Quartertonez Music under the instruction of Mr. Fuad. He is patient and flexible and will cater to each students needs and learning styles. I highly recommend Quartertonez Music to anyone especially those interested in playing Arab instruments!!

Samar Langhorne: I love this school! My daughters and I have had instruction from their teachers for a couple of years. The teachers have always been outstanding, so patient and they have great teaching methods that kept my daughters interested in music and fostered a love for it! I would recommend this school to anyone who is serious about studying music!

Fuad Foty: Quartertonez Music is a DMV-based music school where we grow and nurture the TONEZ within. Our curriculum utilizes western classical pedagogy as well as oral, improvisation, world music and rote learning to create a unique holistic approach to teaching music. We strongly believe that every one of our students from youngest to oldest have special, creative gifts that we can cultivate, foster and hone through our unique approach. Whether you are an aspiring musical professional or a recreational learner, we encourage all our students to enjoy and fully embrace their musical passions and unlock their own special talents.

Mohammed Aljoumari: I’m glad I signed up in this school! Such happy and positive atmosphere. Family owned and operated. Great ways to learn music . I can’t believe I now play oud, it was always a dream for me and thanks to them I am on my way to be professional at it .

Dudley's B Sharp Academy: what do users think?

Lisa Jamison: A great learning experience! Being a beginner piano student, the training I received from Mr. Dudley was great especially since I didn’t know my way around the piano. He is very patient and thorough. I definitely would recommend this studio for all your musical ambitions!

fatima khambaty: Mr Dudley is patient and meets you right where you are- even as an adult student . He was able to assess me right away and we jumped right back (after my break of 25 years) into piano Lessons. He understands even though I have no jazz background how to get me to start thinking differently from my classical training. Honestly- he makes learning fun, easy and less daunting ! Thank you !

Lamia Matta: My 5-year old daughter loved taking ukulele classes with Mr. Dudley. After only a few classes, she became very enthusiastic about playing music. The classes also gave her a lot of confidence. Mr. Dudley is super kind and has a very very nice manner. I highly highly recommend the school.

HARVEY Harris: He is an excellent teacher and my 8y/o son has learned so much in a short time. He gets right down to business, and he allows him to advance at his own pace. My son looks forward to piano lessons every week. I would recommend him to anyone; a true christian demeanor on top of it all.

Bruce Britton: Working with Coach Dudley has been an amazing experience, He is very encouraging and I like that he pushes you put of your comfort zone in order for you to grow as a vocalist. I have worked with him and seen improvement as a singer. I definitely would recommend taking up his classes to anyone!

Natasha: Mr Dudley is great! My kiddos (ages 5&3) love taking lessons with him. I especially appreciate his approach in teaching younger kids.

kara taylor: Amazing, amazing, amazing. One lesson and I saw my daughter shine! She is autistic with add and Darryl was so patient with her. I am a thankful and proud mom.

Tunes 4 Tots: what do users think?

Alex Navarro: Great classes for the preschool and toddler set. Our playgroup loved the outdoor Covid compliant classes with Mr. Mike. He was always on time and very engaging with the kids, even when they didn’t always cooperate. The kids loved all the different instruments and scarves he brought to every lesson. Hope is also very responsive. She has been wonderful to work with and I would highly recommend Tunes 4 Tots to anyone. It’s been especially great to add some normalcy during this time for our little people.

Chelsea Delaney: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueUndoubtedly one of the best music classes in DC! Hope (the owner) is creative, experienced, and fun. My nanny kids loved taking her class and participating in her fun music activities. I would recommend Tunes 4 Tots to ANYONE seeking fun music classes for their little ones.

Lindsay Glaser: We just finished an 8 week series of music classes with Tunes 4 Tots and it was a wonderful experience! I’m a first time mom and was looking for an activity that was engaging and age-appropriate for my 3 month old. We organized a group of 6 families and rotated homes for class each week. It was a blast watching all of our babies grow together, but the best part was Miss Hope! Hope’s bubbly and energetic personality makes each class so much fun, all 6 babies were in love with her! My son’s favorite part of class was playing with the different musical instruments. (I especially appreciated how clean all of the instruments were.) My favorite part of class was all the unique and catchy songs that Hope introduced us to. They are still stuck in my head! I would highly recommend Tunes 4 Tots!

Alexis Zeiden Morgan: Loved working with Hope at Tunes 4 Tots. Hope tailored the class for younger babies, including multiple songs using their names, small instruments that they could grasp, and sing a long books that kept them interested. My son (6 mo) and I both loved her class!

Sarah Fulk: We had a wonderful time at Tunes for Tots! Not only was the musical instructor great with the kids, but the length of the session, the instruments involved, and the songs were all perfectly structured for toddlers!

Elizabeth Capstaff: Tunes for Tots was such a wonderful way to introduce my little guy to social settings with a fun, engaging, educational music class. Hope connected with every child and produced consistent, predictable songs and activities for the kids while simultaneously tailoring the sessions to the children involved. Really awesome class and I would highly recommend!

Greta Burrows: Both my kids really like their instructors. They are patient and knowledgeable. My son has been playing piano for over 6 years and my daughter started violin.

Karmen Armitage: My son has learned more piano in eight months of instruction then he did in eighteen months with his prior teacher. He incorporates all of the important aspects of a musical education in his lessons.

Yuriko Puryear: I would recommend her anytime for guitar lessons. My son has learned a lot considering he has only been taking lessons since the end of September.

Dorathy Conner: Not only is he damn good on the guitar, but he is a really good teacher. He knew right away what I am capable of and came up with a lesson plan that is awesome.

Lessons In Your Home: what do users think?

Michael: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityThis made getting lessons for my 3 kids a snap. I even started taking guitar lessons with them. They found Josh who can teach the kids piano and guitar for myself. Kids are having a blast and I am enjoying picking up the guitar again. Josh is great. Patient with the kids and myself. He is a real pleasure.

Christina Malekiani: We have had a wonderful experience with both of our children and LIYH. We have been clients since before covid and have been impressed with their rapid changes in protocols for covid that were simultaneously so smooth and made for easy transitions for the kids. After also taking a hiatus from one instrument for one child, LIYH was so helpful in transitioning that child back to another instrument and with a different coach that was an even better fit. Heather is extremely professional and proactive and an excellent communicator. She listens well to what each family and child needs and guides appropriately with her recommendations and seems to be spot on. Joseph has been absolutely amazing with our daughter on guitar—one of the most patient, kind teachers we have seen and knows how to keep her motivated and excited. She loves him and can’t wait for lessons each week with him! Nicole has been wonderful on piano with our son and knows how to challenge him appropriately while still keeping him encouraged. We have been extremely pleased with LIYH and will continue to work with them as long as our kids keep enjoying playing an instrument.

Tammie Dzubak: My son is a beginner at violin. Joseph has successfully taught him via Zoom (due to the pandemic). Joseph is patient, encouraging, and motivating. He truly understands how to teach children. Most importantly Joseph has instilled confidence in him and he is eager to practice daily. We look forward to a time when Joseph and my son can practice together.

Fallon McNeil: Steve Boone (Richmond VA) is so kind, patient, and fun with our two children (ages 10 and 7). Their excitement and love for music has only increased since starting lessons with him. Heather made the enrollment process effortless and answered all of our questions thoroughly. We have had a WONDERFUL experience with this company. Thank you!

Jonathan Moak: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueLiz has been such a patient and professional piano coach for our daughter. I have really enjoyed watching my 6 year old learn. Highly recommended.

Middle C Music: what do users think?

James Hurwitz: Without reservation, Middle C Music deserves the highest possible recommendation. They did a superb job of cleaning up and giving an overall tune-up to my antique guitar and repairing my antique mandolin. In the process, I saw how the staff at Middle C —Nick, Tom, Dave and Hillary — interacted not just with me but customers and students of all ages and abilities. What I appreciated most was their low key manner and the pleasure they took in enhancing the joy that others got from their instruments, music, and lessons. This is truly an excellent music store.

Gillian Edick: We popped into Middle C to have a guitar restrung and tuned. They did it quickly, but more importantly made it great fun for my aspiring but beginner guitarist. Tom was amazing - so helpful and took the time to show my son how to tune the guitar, hold it and get started. Really fantastic service. Thanks Tom and team!

Paul Myers: I purchased a piano from these fine people, and I love it. It was very competitively priced. I have also purchased a guitar, and I have had these folks restring several guitars, and they do a great job —and again, the price is right. I love supporting small businesses, and Middle C Music is one of the best!

Fernando Nogueira: Super friendly and helpful staff. We were missing a very specific guitar screw and they helped us out in no time.

Susanna Gregory: I LOVED it here! Stopped by for a new guitar and the staff was immediately willing to help and super friendly. The prices were great and I was really impressed with all the cool little things you could buy too! I didn’t get the names of the people who helped me but they were fantastic

Michelle Long: I had the best time at Middle C Music! Everyone was super knowledgeable, supportive, and friendly. I came in looking for a 3/4 size acoustic guitar for traveling and had my pick of a beautiful selection. Big fan!! Will return!

International School of Music: what do users think?

Joma A Washirapunya: International School of Music is a great school for any type of music class. My daughter has been doing a virtual class for a year now. Despite it’s still being online, she still learns a lot. Her piano teacher (Junie K.) is very knowledgeable and helps her with the fundamentals and makes sure she understands everything about playing the piano. The staff is helpful and quick to respond to all my questions. I am happy that we enrolled her at ISM.

Chong Zhang: We had a very good experience with ISM for my daughter’s violin class. Her teacher Kimia is amazing!

Linda Shiner: Young is an accomplished guitarist who is very patient and helpful with beginners. He shows you precisely how to move your fingers to get the best benefit from practice.

Erika Jorgensen: Great teachers, convenient location. We have enjoyed lessons for two kids plus me for years now. All the teachers are excellent and inspiring. Very well organized school.

Aycan Oguz: We really love our piano teacher Minji. She has a great communication with kids and gently build the foundation of music knowledge brick by brick. I strongly recommend her!

Juanita Ramkissoon: (From my 10 year old son) My instructor, Charlotte, is fun, creative, and really knows her stuff! I look forward to going to my singing classes and practicing my vocals while I play my guitar.

Claire Heffez: Great teachers, friendly staff, flexible and organized. I highly recommend, even for young children!

Carmen Bellacasa: My daughter loves meeting with her instructor weekly. I highly recommend.

Ryan John Estorninos: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueThe International School of Music has been the perfect place for my daughter to harness her natural talent. Her teacher is skilled in helping her learn fundamentals and refine her talent. We are glad to have International School of Music as our school.

Georgia Farkash: We couldn’t be happier with our experience at the International School of Music. Bach to Rock Bethesda: what do users think?

katka hazlingerova: My daughter loves piano lessons with Vicky. She is really nice to her.Recommend to everybody👍

Sue Camaione: Joe is a great teacher. We are a couple of semi-retired rock and roll drummers. He’s been very patient and encouraging. Even using boomer music to get us in the groove.

macfawlty: The teachers and instructors are very talented. Bach2Rock is such a unique experience for kids who want to learn music, even more so if they want to join others in a band, which many are encouraged to do. They offer bands many opportunities to play during the course of the year in small venues. The Battle of the Bands is an all day event with different age categories from little ones to adults reliving their youth through music. The summer programs are a great way to introduce kids to a week of music where they record a CD and have a band performance after just 5 days. My son has been going to B2R for 4 or 5 years now.

Jorge E Restrepo: I am an adult and I started taking piano lessons at B2Rock five years ago. I started from nothing since I had not studied music before. Now, thanks to the guidance of several fantastic teachers, I have had over the years, and to my effort, I am playing some nice pieces, and I can read music. I am very satisfied with my progress. Stopping at the desk and asking about lessons for adults, like me, was a great decision.

Mary O'Neill-Wood: My child has taken voice and guitar at Bach to Rock, Bethesda and it has been so beneficial. The teachers are patient, friendly and challenge their students to do their very best. My child has NO stage fright and is completely confident with performing.

They are just starting out on their musical journey and this can be a challenge for both the kids, and the teachers. We really appreciate the patience of the instructor - she is really doing a good job introducing our kids to music and is patient with them. The front desk staff is very friendly too and helps us quite a bit to set the weekly schedule. The new location is perfect for us and the facilities are really nice!

Elizabeth Clifton: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueISM has great, timely communication, especially during these days of requiring on-the-spot technical coordination and they have been excellent about providing extra time when technical struggles prevent on-time starts. About two months in and very happy with the lessons my child is receiving.

Mintons Academy of Music: what do users think?

Sarah Corwin: Both my kids have taken lessons at Minton’s. Teachers are very talented and patient. They were flexible when one of my kids wanted to switch instruments. They also allow for rescheduled lessons when conflicts arose. Quickly moved to virtual lessons once COVID hit, and continue to allow virtual lessons as an option.

Prakash Gorugantu: My Son takes piano lessons at Mintons and he loves it here. The school is a wonderful environment for music education. Their attention to detail from starting on time to communicating upcoming events, recitals, etc. is great. His piano teacher Sarah is exceptionally well trained, on time, very patient and gives 110% during the lesson.

Sonny V: Our kids take piano and flute lessons at Mintons Music. We have been going here for about three years and they really enjoy their teachers. We have found them to be extremely patient, dedicated to teaching and very professional. My belief is that a student, no matter what the subject, will learn better if he or she has developed a connection with their teacher, that is very much the case here. We are very happy with everything and most importantly, our kids are learning music while having fun. In addition, the Mintons are extremely flexible with make-up lessons which helps us tremendously given the fact that inevitably one or more after school or summer activities end up conflicting with their scheduled lesson times.

Ramya Gopal: Minton music is a great place. We have been with Minton Music for past 7 years. Mintons music is very friends and teachers are very professional. My daughter has learned to play the piano beautifully. My daughter loved going to every class. They have a wide selection of teachers to work with students of different abilities. Overall, it is a great place for learning music.

Kreda Boci: My kids began taking lessons to Mintons Academy of Music since 2009. We have had a great experience with the teachers and the school. It has been such a rewarding experience for our family to see our kids grow and make great progress every day. They are now successfully playing in the band program and love it. I would highly recommend Mintons Academy of Music to anyone.

Srinivasa Peyyalamitta: My daughter has been going to Mintons for the past 7 years. She has learned drums, violin and now she is also taking Bass lessons. Mintons Music is a very friendly environment and has great staff. When my daughter started going there, I was motivated and took drum lessons myself. Mr. Minton is very passionate about music and has a lot of experience too. Mrs. Minton is a very welcoming and friendly lady, who is very well informed and is always willing to help. We recommend Mintons Music for any one who wants to learn music.

Melinda Innis: We have been attending music lessons at Minton’s Music for over 2 years. My daughter started out with voice lessons, but decided to switch to piano after a few months. The Minton’s were very accommodating and not only allowed her to switch, but she kept her same music teacher! My son has been taking drum lessons from Mr. Minton himself. As with some 7-year old boys, it can be a challenge to keep their focus, but Mr. Minton does it with patience every week and we are truly grateful for all he has learned.

David Rodak: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueMy son is a beginner learning to play piano via Zoom during the pandemic. He loves his teacher and loves the variety of music he’s learning. Zoom is really working out. The teacher, although remote, has all the tools required to teach a new student. Plus, everyone at B2R is friendly and very professional.

Dori Morper: My kids have taken lessons at the Gaithersburg location for almost eight years. Kids & Keys, Glee Club, private drum lessons, rock band, private saxophone lessons, summer camps...in every case the teachers were top notch! The experience for our family has been outstanding- why else would we last so long? The office staff has always been warm, professional and ready to help with schedule changes and routine questions or concerns. The instructors make learning music fun and have absolutely given my kids skills, techniques and a love of music that has followed them to their middle and high school music programs. Their success at school is a direct result of their learning at Bach to Rock. I love that there are opportunities for performances both as solo performers and band members. Recently remodeled!

Heather Michaels: Kids have loved their lessons their over the past 10 years. My daughter had her first ever performance last night at Strathmore and was so proud of her accomplishment. Thanks so much to Nate for being a great teacher, and for his support and accompaniment.

Patricia B: We really had great teachers so far. My daughter absolutely adores Tess. The staff is very friendly, responsive and accommodating. We really enjoy this location.

Nicole Wyche: Great place for lessons to learn how to play an instrument, for voice lessons, and for providing opportunities in the community to perform in a safe environment. The staff is helpful and clearly love what they do at B2R.

Natalie Chernett: Very good with my children, 5 and 3, in Rock City. They had so much fun and learned a lot about different instruments!

Melissa Martinez: My daughter has learned a-lot and she enjoys her private lessons.

Lewis Nordan: Friendly staff and fun classes for small kids

Raul Heredia: Nice place to learn music. The staff is really good here
