Rowan Horan: Decent subway but I don’t think it’s sanitary to have a little kid of an employee running around behind all the food.

Thomas Brablec: Service is quick and staff is friendly. Walking in is a little confusing due to the location of the Subway inside the building. Food was great and pricing reasonable.

Rhed HeadDred: This location is in the basement of an office building in Downtown DC. I like the location because it's kinda hidden even with the awning. Their main customers are the office workers which is great. Most of them took their lunch back to the office which leaves us non workers a place to sit and eat. Quiet atmosphere and cold A/C 😊

Tiff Joy: The food was good and all but the line staff was rude. My partner does not eat pork and has several food allergies. When asked to change her gloves, one of the employees (granted she complied) began making fun and complaining in Spanish to the other employees. Making my partner and I uncomfortable. I asked (in Spanish) if there was a problem to which the employee stated there was none but then moved her position to not finish our sandwich leading another employee to finish the order.

Xoxo Sugar Cosmetics: Don't be rude to their staff! A lot of tourists stop here on their way to one of the nearby hotels. Remember your manners! My food was fresh & service was prompt. The guests that came in after me were so rude.

Christian Emberton: The service was great and the restaurant looked amazingly clean and well kept. I forgot to get a bag of chips with my meal, but that's on me. Their food was good as always.

A Williams: Nice and clean but employer he has a nasty attitude and I tried to explain to him that you can't be this way serving folks food it just not right....still didn't listen rolled his damn eyes like a girl.... That was very very rude and unprofessional.

Glorie Busjahn: The food was good. The staff were stellar, very kind. TheDC mayor just lifted her prejudice vaxmandate. I am happy to report that this subway location let us dine in without asking for vax proof.

Evan Ney: The food tastes nice and fresh, not like it has been sitting out. The place is clean.Very nice staff, as well. If you need a quick bite to eat, you should go there.

Esse Darden: For some reason, the Sandwich Artist hesitated to greet me and be simultaneously ready to create my order. It was about 8 minutes before they were going to close and I was the only customer inside. Plus it was just him and I presume the manager present, so don't know why he kept going back and forth once I got to the ordering position and waited for him to greet me. One of the items I got on my sandwich was green peppers and it wasn't until I brought my food home that I noticed how large of pieces - chunks they were.

J: I had the turkey. White egg and cheese flatbread 6 in. It was $3.99 for the price it served its purpose. Aside from the more than questionable service with a hint of attitude (which could have been from working early morning). This place was cleaned and I love how the back was open and I could see them preparing for the day.

dajuan williams: The girls that work in the evening at this store are the worst! They are always on either cell phones or talking on personal calls via apple ear buds! You have to tell them several times the same things over and over because they were on a personal call while making your food! There is one nice young lady who works on the weekend. She knows how to treat customers!...... This is not the right line of work for the other two girls!

Evan Ribeiro: I always have a great experience with this particular subway shop. Friendly and efficient staff. I prefer to skip the line these days and use the subway app with curbside pickup and the order has been consistently correct, fresh, hot if toasted and always on time. Staff brings out the food quickly and at least in the half dozen times that I've used the app, I rarely have to wait longer than a couple of minutes before the food has been transferred to me. For the times that I've gone into the store without the app, it's always a smooth experience and I have a bit more flexibility on how my sandwich is made than I can do in the app. As a side note, I really recommend using the app as you can use the discounts listed, order and pay in advance along with getting reward points that add up to a couple of bucks off your order.

Darlene jackson: I had just arrived in DC, 8 am and was glad to see the Subway after emerging from the Metro. The store was clean, the food was fresh, the coffee was hot and I was happy.

Marshall (MRJ56): For the price the sandwich is not worth it. Harris Teeters makes a better sandwich for less. For the same amount of money you probably could do better at a local neighborhood sandwich shop. Subway should pay more attention to the shops and less money on their commercials!!!

Derrick Davis: This location was horrible as far as using fresh ingredients. I ordered a simple sub and became very ill from eating it. This was the only thing I ate so I’m able to pin point where I got sick from. Sorry but I won’t be eating subway again or eating out period. You just never know.

Romona Foster: I stop in the Subway in Columbia Heights often on my way to class. It is always clean and the staff is always friendly. Their vegetable subs are always fresh, but they are out of the Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing quite often. Still, I give them 4 stars.

She did that: I had to say to many times what I want, he seems to be stingy with the food when I asked for extra it didn't seem like a regular extra something. No smiley faces wasn't very welcoming

Joel Spangler: I came here right on time today as it was the beginning of their lunch time service. I was one of the early birds,because by the time I had ordered, there was already a steady stream of people coming in to place their order. I already knew what I wanted to order even before I arrived. It was the meatball marinara sub. My initial thoughts were to just get the six inch sub, but after checking out he menu, I saw that the foot long was only about $2 more, so I went with that one. For the toppings, I requested pro alone cheese, lettuce, black olives, and those delicious red bell peppers. The e sub came out to be around $8.00 which was definitely markedly higher than the price a year ago. Such is life! Once I get to my office I will start eating and let you know how it tastes. I'm sure it will be the same like all of the other sandwiches that I've ordered from this place.

Romona Foster: Strangest Subway I've been in. I ordered a vegetable 6" and had to ask for more vegetables for each vegetable I ordered. The guy (who was a little creepy) also put a half a slice of provolone cheese on my bread. When I asked for more, he said 50 cents. I just looked at him and asked him to put more on. He handed my sandwich to the cashier and said something in another language. They get two stars only because it was clean and what little was on the bread was fresh. Customer service gets zero stars. 👎

Annette Smallworth: If I could give zero stars I would. I ordered via the online app a footlong subway with free chips. The free chips showed clearly on my order. However, on collecting the order they stated there was no evidence of free chips and implied that I was lying. To make matters worse, I have complained to Subway and received an obvious 'standard' reply from the Franchisee which also implied it was my problem, not theirs. Appalling Customer Service

Emily Hernandez: Wish I could give 0 stars. The customer service here is absolutely horrible. I talked to someone on the phone about an Uber Eats order and he kept yelling the same thing saying "you don't give me money how am I supposed to change?". Could have simply said sorry miss I am not authorized to make that decision. Truly felt unsafe eating my food from here in fear that he would do something to my food. Never ordering from here again.

Angelique Turner: Fast service, fresh food. Got the steak, egg and cheese flatbread sandwich. Needed to be slightly warmer. Overall a good sandwich . Gentleman made it judt how i wanted it.

Dripp: This is the worst subway location in DC. Go here at your own risk. The workers have horrible customer service, and I ordered a sub and the bread was stale. Contacted the manager on the receipt, Amer, who promised to "make it right", and got only 1 reply saying he would "send me a gift card". Of course I never got it. Contacted him again and never heard a reply. I emailed and left voicemails...still no reply. He doesn't care at all, so beware that if you have any issue at this location, you will not have it resolved. Very unprofessional manager and employees!

Asher Silcox: Worst subway experience ever. Restroom infested with flies. The dude who took me order moved way too slow and just sloppdd things on half the sub never fully - seemed to be staring into space and didnt care. Wasnt handed reciept. Had to ask questions twice and repeat answers for the entire order. The place has no AC just box fans taking up the limited seating.

khatoutou khatouta: They stole my money. I've made an order through website, came to the restaurant and said they didn't have the product. I ask for a refund but they explained I had to ask it to the customer service. A year later, NO ONE is able to refund my money. Oh yes, they said they would give me a voucher and that there is nothing else they can do but as I told them 20 times I LIVE IN FRANCE so I can not use this voucher!! The customer service is not responding anymore. Don't go there!!

Tavon Gay: The place is very clean and doesn't have many people in it which makes it a nice place to have lunch in a quiet environment.

Kisha Shorter: I would never eat at this Subway ever in life, I went in today for lunch and when I got back to my office about to bite in my sandwich, it was mouse poop on the bottom of my bread. I went back to the store just wanting a refund and the manager told me we don't have mice period and it didn't come from that location. Then he proceeds to tell me it came from the liner of the toaster but my sandwich was cold not toasted and he had nothing to say at that point but would you like a refund. I am completely disgusted and I will never spend money at Subway again. Subway lost a faithful customer today. Please be careful and look at you food before you eat, I'm just so lucky I didn't just eat my sandwich. I dodged a bullet today. They deserve negative stars but it wouldn't allow post unless I chose 1 star.

Tabitha Thomas: I placed an order through postmates for pick up when I got back to my office I was missing items off my sandwich called to the store to let them know and the person that fixed it was telling what was on and I'm looking at the sandwich and it's clearly not on it. William Makinen: Kinda meh food but good in a pinch if you forget your lunch. It's standard subway quality, so about what most would expect.

Malcolm McCurry: Love me some Subway, but I find the staff here to be a little bit rude at times (not always!) and this is likely due to how horribly crowded it gets during lunch hours. Best time to get your sandwich is in the morning and save it for later. If you come after the lunch rush they frequently are out of certain ingredients.

Tony Mroczkowski: It's hard to get to (you need a badge to get near it). Also, it runs out many popular items like meatballs or spinach by 1pm. Also, they never have the toys, but they advertise them in the window regardless.

Sheldon Brown: This store is on the grounds of my work place. The service is always pleasant and quick.

James Miller: This subway was clean and they had all the meat and extras advertised. I wish they had more baked lays options instead of just regular. The service was good but there was a little wait to check out at the register.

Brandon Rohrbough: Very Convenient spot on 4th street. First thing I noticed was that the restaurant is immaculate. Everything very clean and in order. Greeted with a hello. Best of all the sub was very good. I had a steak, egg and cheese on Italian herbs and cheese bread. No complaints here.

Corey Neils: I think there is a problem when on two different occasions, staff there are accused of being rude to customers. In one instance that I actually witnessed, it was the manager himself who was being rude and disrespectful to a young woman who appeared to have an intellectual disability. It is not hard to believe that staff would be rude to customers if they see the same disrespectful manner demonstrated by the person who should be setting an example. The second instance, the customer said that the employee was rude, and instead of apologizing for any perceived wrongdoing and ensuring the customer was satisfied, the same manager sides with the employee. The attitude there is," Where else are you going to go?" I know Subways are individually owned and operated, but I would think as a franchise owner, you want people to want to come to your store. James Garber: Great location near the metro. This subway is my go-to when I need a quick bite. Brendan and Smurf as well as the rest of the staff are always friendly and helpful. And yeah Subway did good adding the carved turkey, A+

Swagstay Athome: The tall guy with black hair, foreign-today at 10:29 am 03/7/19 guy put his hand with his gloves on the wall and try to fix my sandwich with it and also, threw every thing back into the tray....ewww! I think he needs to be retrained-he had provided a terrible customer service food handling experience...i didn't get to eat notging because of him. He will make alot of people sick if he is not monitored!

Mario Ferrufino: I did not get my order attempted to call the store multiple times took 20 mins to get someone then refused to help in anyway told me to contact DoorDash when already did and they advised me to contact them he also stated “door dash will give you a refund” and then I asked him to be certain that’s what he said says maybe I don’t know clearly giving false information to customers said his name was Mohammad but probably gave me a fake name this person shouldn’t be working there at that store horrible customer service will be contacting corporate and reporting the store absolutely ridiculous April 22 2022

Wegene Wells-Bogue: This location is not clean. They don't disinfect the tables that other were sitting on. Employees are rude and lazy. Very disrespectful. I will never go back to this place again.

Jeff Smith: We were in our nation’s capital for a conference. My son and I were still on west coast time so lunch was breakfast. Everyday we walked down from the Madison for lunch. It was such a special memory. We were in town for a week and the staff learned our orders by the end of our trip. The staff was so nice and accommodating. If you are in DC and need a good lunch, consider Subway. It’s a memory I won’t soon forget.

On many occasions I've entered to find all the staff in the back and have had to wait several minutes for someone to even come out. They also seem understaffed and only help one customer at a time, so you better hope that the person in front of you isnt ordering a lot. And don't bother trying to go after 5. They start getting into shutdown mode for when they close at 8. I've been there at 7 and the man behind the counter told me they were out of bread. It's okay in a pinch, just don't expect much.

Dimitri Ivanoff: This Subway is on School street between 4th and L'Enfant metro station. The place is really small, just 4-5 tables to sit. The food is OK although if you want better choices L'Enfant is 5 min away. Also at lunch time the waiting could be 15 min. Overall it's one of better choices for carry out in the area.

Michael Martin: I arrived here with only euros and no credit card. I am diabetic and needed to eat so I asked the gentleman and lady at the counter if they could take euros. The man exchanged some euros for dollars and when I got my sandwich and drink they wouldn't let me pay. The sandwich was delicious. To the man and his wife, thank you so much for your kindness to me. When I come to union station I will see you again.

Ryan Zalla: I’ve been to this place three times in the last three weeks, and I have been very impressed. Their sandwiches are crafted with care, ingredients are fresh, the process is speedy, and their customer service is outstanding - courteous and customer-centric. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

Preeti Shastri: This was the WORST experience at a Subway! The guy taking our order was too rude and here comes the MOST HORRIBLE part. I am a hard core vegetarian and ordered a veggie sub. Before taking our order he kept us waiting as he was keeping some kind of round white meat with his hands from one container to other. As soon as he finished doing that he started making my sub without changing gloves or cleaning his hands. With those same gloves he made the sub for the next 1-2 customers meanwhile keeping cheese from main box to other, shifting meat from fridge to the counter etc. Really disappointing to see this. OVERALL- The sub didn't even taste good because it was made in so much hurry and I had to throw most of it away! I would recommend to eat anywhere else at the court but not at this subway.

Mœth: Not so good service. My mom wanted to order a pizza and the guy didn't ask for the toppings and just added extra cheese. The staff was also unclear.

Stephen Lohrmann: Fresh and tasty. I got the Spicy Italian cold cut and was very satisfied. They now sell small pizzas!

Marva Hobbs: Rude server, poor customer service. I would not go back to that location, ever. The server was rushing my order even though it was not busy and when I did not understand what he was saying he snapped at me and wanted to move on to the next customer. My only regret was not cancelling my order.

Imron S: I went to this restaurant a few years ago and didn't step in there again because there service and foot was stale. So today 11/15/17 I was craving some subway and this is the closest subway to me. I figured the staff might be different and since that's only location in china town, they might have stepped up their standards. I guess I was wrong. It seems me the staff likes to serve a particular clientele "not my type." I asked for 2 foot long subs. And while waiting for the toppings to be placed on the sub, the employee sprinkled a few items on the sub. I asked him to put a few extra items. He just gave me a weird stare, speaking with his coworkers in his language. As for the other customers who came after me, were clearly weren't from my background, they well properly welcomed, top notch service, well engaged with them. I'm fed up from this place. NOT GOING THERE AGAIN. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

Yinz Kno Johnny: It was ok only one employee kinda slow but the food was good. My sub was toasted to perfection though I really enjoyed it the steak and cheese provolone Jack was melted perfect! I had use the bathroom so you have to get a key to keep the crackheads out I guess but anyways the bathroom was very clean stocked with paper towels and smelled amazing. Which actually is surprising because subways bathrooms are usually dirtier than New York train stations. I just wish they would’ve had more employees working because it was kind of slow the guy did his best though so I can’t really complain so much the overall review of this place it was OK I enjoyed it and would return again. This lady argued with me that it wasn’t on the menu and persisted on making me a standard cheese steak. After I tried to point to the menu to show her it’s a new menu item that is right behind her she still argued about the sandwich saying she couldn’t do it. The guy behind me was laughing. I was being very polite with this lady simply asking her to fix the sandwich I ordered and she started saying she doesn’t understand. So I speak fluent Spanish however she spoke some language I didn’t understand. So I asked her if I could speak to someone else there and she stated that no one else is there and that it’s just her. Look I’m a patient man but when you literally tell me to pay for a sandwich that isn’t what I ordered and be rude to me then I can’t help but post a comment on here about this. The lady that worked on september 23,2018 at 1:15pm should be fired and has zero business being in a sandwich shop if she doesn’t understand basic English or understands what sandwich people state they want if it’s right there on the menu. I’m going to be talking to the manager tomorrow since this lady says no one else is onsite to talk to me. I have an average of 20 or so crew memembers that eat at this location on a regular daily basis and this lady is an absolute embarrassment to this establishment.

Michael B: Don't order online from this location. They WILL give you half the meat and skimp on veggies. It's been two times in a row now for me. Almost as bad as the subway that's down the road on U and 14th st. I ordered Jan 9, 2022 around 9:30pm and this happened to me once again.

IZ FUMBLES: Firstly, I don't know how you can situate your business on or near campus and not take that university's funds. Seems to me like it's a deliberate attempt to avoid/discourage cooperation with the local students and university, something that comes across as very exclusionary. Anyway, the service here was beyond abhorrent. The employee behind the counter had a nasty and off-putting attitude, with himself frequently rolling his eyes and screwing up my order. The only most likely reason I will come back here is that I am a student and half of the time, if not a majority of the time, I am broke and need a quick study snack late at night when the school cafeterias are closed. For those who aren't students and are just looking for a quick meal, go somewhere else. Also, to be in a black neighborhood and on a historically black university's campus and to treat customers of color seemingly as less than is very off-putting. If you can avoid this place, do so. For students looking for food during the operating hours of the dining hall, go there instead as I usually do, the service is better, it's cheaper, and they care more about you. Don't waste unnecessary money here. Deli meats looked aged as well.

Greg Witt: I ordered a chicken bacon ranch sub to go, and they didn't put ranch on it. One of literally three ingredients in the name.

Alyiah Cross: This was the worst experience of my life, I used Ubereats and not only did they completely mess up my order one of the employees argued with me for 20 minutes over the phone yelling and cussing at me. Then wouldn’t even look up my receipt so I could explain to him what was wrong with the sandwiches I ordered . Eventually we hung up on eachother and I had to Uber to the subway, then when I got there they were so rude to me about my order, rushed me and didn’t even refund my order for the hassle I had to go through.

Zachary Lampman: Staff is rude. They are super skimpy on their veggies. They charge for bags and straws and claim every subway in DC charges. I have definitely gone to more subways than the subway employees in the Madison building. What employees eat at the same franchise establishment they work at when they’re off work?? They just rudely dismissed me when I asked for a bag and they wanted five cents for it. That’s fine if they need to charge me but can you ask before you run my card like standard subway protocol is to put the sub in the bag. Just put it in the bag. Rude rude rude. And picks altercations with customers. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? Poor customer service.

S. Haskins: Convenient location, but the service and food is just mediocre. To me the toppings don't always taste fresh. The service is slow and sandwich servers always look unenthused and.spaced out. There is one lady who is really nice, she's usually at the head of the serving line, the rest are so-so.

Len Johnson: Horrible costumer service. They messed up my online lunch order they switched addresses last minute. Sent my order to this subway 20 minutes away from my office. Could not reach anyone on the phone after calling them several times. Completed their survey letting them know the situation and no one has contacted me after several days. I NEVER leave negative reviews but had to since they stole my money.

EmpressLoveofJAH: The staff is awesome. However, I don't know how they work with the manager Mr Essam. He treats the staff like trash. He's rude and very disrespectful to them and doesn't treat the customers much better.I have heard him on several occasion screaming at the employees for putting extra Mayo, lettuce and tomatoes at the customers request. I have went to many Subway 's and never have I had a problem getting an extra tomatoes. Myself and Co workers use to leave tips in the tip jar for the sandwich makers, until we learned that the manager keeps the tips . Something has got to be done. My Office will no longer support that Subway until changes are made in management and we are asking every business in the building to follow. Mr Essam management and people skills is the worst we've ever seen. We have forward our concerns to the corporate office in hopes that someone there is just as concerned as we are about equal and fair employment.

Tarren McCray: I just left from getting a sandwich here and I'm wondering why the hell I went... There weren't even a lot of people inside which is why I don't understand why they were just throwing things together. The sandwich was so thrown together it looked unappetizing just being made. When I was back in the office, I realized the lady gripped it so hard while crumpling paper around it that the bread was torn and the toppings were falling all over the place. I couldn't even eat it. Totally done with Subway as an entire brand now.

Jaxs Mill: There was only 1 employee that was upfront working and she was rude and not friendly at all. This was my first time at this particular Subway for breakfast. I could not clearly see the writing on the poster about the sizes of the flatbread sandwiches. The female staff member pushed my sandwich towards me instead of lifting up the bag and HANDING my sandwich to me and she couldn't even say, "thank you". Is common courtesy a thing of the past - is it dead? I didn't get the memo...

Dennis Bagwell: Subway is always mediocre fast food. I only eat there when there's not many better choices.

Mendokusai: Update: 7/6/19: Keeping 4/5 stars but got to sit in the dining area. Probably the smallest dining area I've ever been in (two people would have issues walking next to each other). The same area has restrooms (need key) and fountain drinks (also available in the front). If you need to access beverages, people sitting might need to move. The store arrangement is a bit bizarre; you can tell the front of the store used to be the food prep area and is presently unused space. They should remove the old counter there and make it the customer dining area while converting the existing elven dining area for staff. Original review: Has been consistently good and barely ever a line (like never really). Didn't notice there was a seating area in the rear as it's very nondescript. They're probably the fastest Subway I've been to. However, one day the AC wasn't working and it was hotter than two hells in there. I hope that never happens again because it was pretty awful on the customer's side - I can't imagine what it's like behind the counter when that (hopefully rarely) happens.

Juan Torres: It was an okay experience; the food line seem great, organized and clean. They were friendly which is great. The dining room needs more attention; tables were dirty and I saw people that weren't customers go in the bathroom multiple times from a back door so that really worried me about my safety.

Hariom Singh: This subway is just okay. If you are spending the day in the courthouse, Subway is the most economical way to grab a bite. The location is hit or miss. Sometimes the line is too long to bother entering. Other times no one is inside. The employees are polite without being that outgoing or warm. They seem automated. There aren't any "frills" that this location. The location is downtown and sometimes unusual characters hang around the entrance. My veggie delight was yummy.

Philip Raskin: This was a nice subway with nice staff. They were excited to serve us on the day of the Nationals parade. The food was how it was supposed to be. I will definitely be back the next time the Nationals win the world series and I need lunch before the parade.

Jennifer Soto: Easy and convenient to the courthouse but oddly situated. Its understandable due to location but still annoying to walk to one end through everyone touse the restroom to find you need to walk all the way back to get the key. Then one soda machine is in the "front" half and one in the "back". The back didn't work so going during lunch time was annoying getting through everyone 6 times to get what I needed.

Ken Macon: Service was not good at all! The guy didn't understand much of anything I said. He added toppings like Sunday was going out of business. To make it worse, he didn't wrap my sub properly so it fell out of wrapper as I'm taking it out and my toppings are inside the bag. Worst Subway experience EVER! This is coming from a previous employee and long time customer so I know the standard!

Jose L. Bea: Service is worst than terrible. Social resentful people serving this place. After buying sandwiches for me and my three kids, I asked for a cup for water and they said the soda machine right in the same space did not work. I went to a different room on a level three steps above and they had another sofa machine. My kid checked it and verified it worked. I went back to the cashier downstairs to let him know and he was serving water to a black lady right there. I told him that the other machine worked and he insisted it did not work. Finally I asked him again for a cup and the same water he had just served to the black young lady and he had no more option than give me one. After that, I kept serving water and ice from the machine steps above and share the only cup they gave me with my three kids. This was on a hot day on end of August, this summer 2015 These people should be fired, and if the are the owners, they are the stupidest people running a business. Avoid this place if you can.

Leo Davidson: Subway as a chain always has the best staff and this one is no different by any means. Subway represents hope for the fast food industry.
