Eye Physicians of Washington: what do users think?

Michael Goodman: Worst ever. They charged me several hundred dollars for an eye test that you get for free at any place that sells eyeglasses. They did NOT fix my problem, perform any sort of scanning as requested. Their response: wait, it will get better. No, it hasn't. Going to another doctor soon.

Nia Spencer: The eye care has been fine. Similar to what I've gotten other places. I would give it about 4 stars. But the administrative aspect is so unbelievably awful that it drags down the entire practice. Because of that, I strongly suggest you avoid this practice. Unless you have spare time to waste going back and forth with people who bill inaccurately, misapply your payments, give you receipts that cause your insurance company to deny your claims, order your contacts in the wrong strength, don't read carefully AND are terribly argumentative and unhelpful after THEY mess something up. Example: Once when the office staff ordered me contact lenses that were -.75 instead of -.50, an office staff member said that it wasn't that big of a difference and why didn't I just wear the wrong ones, instead of them placing a corrected order. So...I should wear a lens that's 150% the strength that my eye needs just so that you don't have to do your job properly? I don't think so. Another example: I contacted the office and requested receipts for services and purchases so that I could submit an out of network claim to my insurer. What they sent me did not contain enough specifics so the claim was rejected. Trying to get corrected receipts from this office staff was like pulling teeth. First they sent receipts that "would be exactly what FSA/HSA needed”. It took 3 more emails to get them to understand that I asked about *insurance*, not FSA/HSA. Then, they sent me receipts that still failed to itemize the service charges, and showed the wrong year for my contact lens purchase. All the while, the staff had a nasty attitude and reacted to my request for accurate documents as if I’d asked them to donate organs or climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. When I simply wanted administrative staff to do administrative work accurately. Two days later, I still don’t have corrected documents, but I have an inbox overflowing with useless, obstinate emails. It’s truly absurd and I would never want anyone else to waste their precious time in dumb, unnecessary argumentative exchanges with Eye Physicians of Washington’s office staff like I have. Spare yourself the headaches and have your eye health handled elsewhere.

Casey P1400: Cataract surgery with Dr. Pluznik was seamless. Doctor is great, very caring, very patient, excellent doctor in every way. Staff was great, techs always proficient and courteous. Very comprehensive pre-op visits and follow-ups. If you need cataract surgery, you want a surgeon who has done thousands of these procedures. This is the place to go.

Chaturbhuj bhojwani: First time I visited Dr.Newell Hargett, MDWonderful experience.👍👍

Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons: what do users think?

Pat Cinelli: I had sudden vision loss and required surgery. I evaluated several Ophthalmology practices prior to making my selection. At every juncture, from reception to technicians, to nurses, scheduling, and Drs. Martin and Schwartz, it was apparent that this practice is without peers. Each person was more knowledgeable, experienced, thorough, caring, and professional than the other ophthalmology practices I visited. Thanks to Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons, my condition was properly diagnosed and treated. If you are searching for the best eye doctors in the DC region, look no further. Top notch!
Response: Hi Pat! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We are happy to hear that your experience with everyone in our office was positive. -Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons

Randy Fajotina: After 38 years of glasses and contacts I am finally able to enjoy great vision after having PRK performed by Dr Flanders. The office and staff were extremely supportive throughout the entire process. I highly recommend them!
Response: Hi Randy! Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear about your positive experience with our staff and Dr. Flanders. -Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons

Sandy Greer: I have been a patient in this practice for over 27 years and through all my eye surgeries, lasers, treatments, appointments I have always been treated with respect and care from each of the doctors involved in my care. They have work together to retain as much possible for a multi complex eye problem. I cannot speak more highly of Arthur Schwartz’s and Marwa Adi’s, superior care and expertise on my behalf. I feel privileged to be a patient in their care.
Response: Hi Sandy, We can’t thank you enough for the kind words about your relationship with Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons. Your review means a lot to us! -the doctors and staff of Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons

Anne Henderson: I have had two procedures by the great doctors at Washington Eye. My cataracts were removed and my eyelids lifted to restore my peripheral vision. Both procedures went well, with no complications and quick healing. Dr. Marwa Adi and Dr. Mehta were both superb. I recommend them highly and without reservation.
Response: Hi Anne, thank you so much for your five-star review. We are delighted to hear that you had a positive experience with us at Washington Eye Physicians and Surgeons!

Nd Ch: Dr.Schwartz is great. Prompt, thorough, never a wait, courteous staff. ( FIVE stars). I wish I could say the same thing about other doctors in this group!Dr.Cherry
Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We will be sure to share your feedback with the group.- Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons

David L. Craig: After cataract surgery in my left eye by another practice, they referred me to Dr. Adi following a Fuchs Dystrophy diagnosis. Thus far as a patient of Dr. Adi I have experienced a corneal transplant in my left eye four months ago, then cataract surgery in the right eye a week ago, plus in-office laser and eye rebubbling procedures, as well as a second rebubbling procedure at the surgery center. To date I am exceptionally pleased with the competence and demeanor of everyone involved and highly recommend this practice.
Response: Hi David, we’d just like to thank you for taking the time to write this review of Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons.

Richard Schiripa: I had an eye exam for cataracts. The doctor and all the technicians were excellent. Everyone was very professional and courteous. Everything was explained in detail and they answered all my questions. I plan to go back to have my cataract surgery.

Patricia Mitchell: I made an appointment with Dr. Gorman who was recommended by the Doctor I had been seeing for 40 years.I took the prescriptions to Apex and spent almost $700.00. I picked them up today and all three pair project blurred vision. I would like a recommendation of another Dr. in your practice asap to correct the problem Pleas call or email me. Numbers in my file with you. My apology ,the Dr, wasDawson. She also forgot to include the prisms in the prescriptions. Fortunately Apex caught it and called her. I would like to see someone else in the practice.
Response: Hi Patricia, thank you for your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear about your recent experience. A manager will reach out to you shortly to resolve this issue. -Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons

heather pinckney: Dr. Flanders and his staff are OUTSTANDING!! I found him after 2 urgent care drs, another optamologist and the ER failed to diagnosis or treat my eye issue. Eye Doctors of Washington: what do users think?

Ms Ma: Second visit, since my long-time ophthalmologist retired. My primary care physician highly recommended Dr. Jacobson. He, and his assistant Christopher, give thorough exams, and detailed explanations. Don't hesitate to make an appointment.

Michael Orenstein: Through my visits with Dr. Jacobson I feel confident in saying he is a caring practitioner, one who actually listens to patient concerns and symptoms, develops a game plan, and then carefully explains the testing and his diagnosis and treatment options. He also welcomes your questions if his answers get a little blurry (pun intended). And just today, he wasn't quite happy with an image of a muscle(??) around the eye, so he took additional time with me for a re-shoot. I would hope ALL doctors operate this way.

Kecia Reynolds: Dr. Luckie is great! I highly recommend her. The assistant was also good. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because neither the receptionist nor the glasses person in the lobby said hello when I walked in and either was helping anyone.

Amin Shaheen: One of my most time efficient visits to Dr. Jacobson. He is very thorough and has a great bedside manner. His staff was very friendly, courteous and professional! Keep it up guys!

Chris O'Flinn: Dr. Jacobson is the most thorough ophthalmologist I've ever seen. He inspires confidence. The office is very well equipped and well run by pleasant people.

Mark Jacobson: Dr. Howard Jacobson has been my ophthalmologist for at least 20 years. He is extraordinarily thorough, professional and conservative in his examinations, treatments, and recommendations. I have never hesitated to accept and follow his advice. Definitely a "top doc" in his field.

Nick S: I totally trust my eyes to Dr Jacobsen and his staff. They are knowledgeable, courteous, efficient and great in emergencies as well as routine checkups. The best.

tamika sujuane: Dr. Luckie was very attentive and informative, answering all of my questions and adressing my concerns in detail with patience and grace! I consider myself lucky to have found such a wonderful, insightful and caring ophthalmologist!

sophie DiBIase: specially asked if i could be fitted for contact lenses when making my appointment over the phone was told yes and then came in and was told i would have to make another appointment to see a different doctor to get fitted for lenses completely ridiculous to not be fitted for contacts when getting an eye exam. really disappointing. super frustrating to have to make another appointment when i was told over the phone that would not be an issue. EDOW is bad.

Allyson Terry: Dr.Jacobson is the best eye doctor I have ever been to. He is thorough. Takes his time. Nobody better.

The Retina Group of Washington: what do users think?

Angel Jackson: I have really bad anxiety when it comes to medical procedures of ANY kind. They were patient with me, even when it almost seemed like I couldn't get it under control. They gave me time, water & thoroughly explained the procedure that was going to take place. Dr. Huang was really nice & thorough. Don't think I'll be as anxious my next visit

princess abudabah: The office staff are friendly and typically greet you by name as you enter the door. I miss Dr. Spellman’s personal touch though. Even though he was always busy he took time to speak with you and remember things about you. Since he is retired I now see Dr. Venkat. I have no complaints about the excellent service she provided. I do wish she were more personable. After waiting for over 45 mins for the office visit, her actual examination felt rushed and perfunctory.
Response: Princess, thank you for sharing your feedback with our physicians and staff.

roderick johnson: The assistants were helpful and courteous. The time at the clinic has improved from 3 hours down to an hour and a half. Superior service would be in and out in one hour.

Jacqueline Hancock: My experiences here are truly outstanding. Dr. Sonya is the best ever. Staff is constantly cleaning to keep clients safe. Thanks for caring.

Xenon Booth: The wait is always quite long, but everyone is very friendly. Dr. Bryant is amazing and as well as all the nurses.

Dab B: The staff was very personable and professional. Dr. Bryant was very patient explaining the issues and provided options as necessary. Very professional.

Richard Greene: An overall good experience. The reviews indicating that there is a wait time are true. I had a 2pm appointment and did not leave until 4pm. That said they have a lot of patients, which means there’s a slight delay in appointment times. That aside I felt the staff was professional, courteous, and had a good bed side manner as they explained everything they were doing and answered all my questions. The doctor (can’t recall her name at the moment) was also good and gave me confidence that she knew what she was doing, which is what you want when someone is messing around with your eyes!

Laura Scharfenberg: I am uncertain how to rate my visit today. I had to leave the office after waiting for approximately two hours. When I asked when I might expect to be seen, the receptionist said it may still be another 30-45 minutes and that when coming in for an appointment, I should plan on allowing 3-4 hours. I have high regard for Dr. Spellman, and appreciate his willingness to be thorough with his patients as well as the fact that he has a number of emergency patients each day. However, I do not appreciate spending 3-4 hours in the office, the vast majority of which is in the waiting room. There must be a better system. That said, his staff is very considerate and professional and I have great respect and confidence in everyone I have encountered in the office. I am considering making a follow up appt with his colleague for whom I was told the time in the waiting room is not nearly as long.

Brian Niemiec: Had a really great experience. They were able to see me the same day, which was awesome. Dr Huang did a thorough exam and helped me understand what was happening. It alleviated my fears. I would highly recommend Dr Huang at RGW.

F Slacum: Great customer service from the start! Thank you Dr. Bryant! And thanks to your entire team!!

The Retina Group of Washington: what do users think?

David Tu: The staff are super friendly and professional and never missed a beat. The doctor is very knowledgeable, attentive to details and explained everything clearly and precisely. I'm so lucky to have such a great doctor!

Walt Bogdanow: I had an emergency retina issue while traveling from Florida to Boston. I was able to get an immediate appointment during my layover in McLean, an excellent diagnosis, and immediate treatment on the only day I was to be on the area. The staff was personable, accommodating, and most importantly professional and thorough.
Response: Walt, thank you for your kind words. Our physicians and staff take great pride in providing our patients with high quality care.

Eugenia Vaseneva: Front office is horrible. My appointment was at 3pm but they called and asked to come at 1pm. Had to re-arrange my ride for this but agreed. After waiting for 40 min in the lobby I cancelled my appointment and left, not even 'sorry' from them. Avoid and go someplace that respects patients.
Response: Eugenia, we appreciate your feedback and will be sure to share your feedback with our team members. Patient care and satisfaction are our number one priority. If you wish to speak to someone directly, please feel free to reach out to Cynthia Soto at (703) 564-4300.

Abdulrazzak Aldhobhani: Dr. Dal Chun is a professional ophthalmologist. He knows what to do, listen to the patient and prescribe the right medicine and approach to treat any issue in eyes. I strongly recommend him.

Kathy Rubis: All I can say is I wish every Dr was like Dr Do. He is personable and caring and gives so much thought to your problem. He makes you feel like you’re his only patient.

Chhay Lim: The service was excellent. Because there was no cell phone reception in the building, it would be nice for the Retina Group of Washington to provide WiFi while patients waiting.

Penny Harrison-Latham: I have complete confidence in them. Dr. Chun is such a caring doctor. I highly recommend them.
Response: Penny, thank you for sharing your feedback. Our physicians and staff will be happy to hear that we were able to meet your expectations.

Susan Quinn: The care and professionalism at The Retina Group of Washington is outstanding! Dr ChunIs exemplary in every respect. He is extremely knowledgeable and patient with all of my questions and concerns. I am very fortunate and privileged to call him my doctor.

robert bossard: Very professional, close attention to details and friendly. I always enjoy my visit.

mona Mona: good luck being even close to your appointment at this office ! i had a 9 am appointment and i finally was seen and i left at 12:30! un acceptable

The Retina Group of Washington: what do users think?

Robert Perry: I would highly recommend Dr. Brian Do! He is smart, empathetic, great bedside manner. He talks to you and has time to listen. He really makes me feels taken care of. Plus he really cares. Fantastic Doctor. He is the reason that I had a great experience with the Retina Group of Washington. Kudos!

Bradley Garness: Dr. Bernstein saved the vision in my right eye. I am terrified of needles; however, the staff and the kind Doc somehow put me at ease. Thanks for your kindness and compassion. Getting an injection in my eye is rough, but the good humor of the team makes up for it. 5 Stars.
Response: Bradley, thank you for sharing. Our physicians and staff are dedicated to ensuring a great experience.

DC Kolb: My experience with RGW has been nothing but the best. Appointments are usually on time, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and Dr. Reilly provides compassionate care.

Mark Koper: Dr.Do and the staff where great. Dr. Do was very helpful. He took the time to explain what was going to take place with the surgery as well as what to expect during the recovery.
Response: Mark, thank you for your feedback. Our physicians and staff strive to provide word class retina care.

Lisa Romero: I was seen my the very 1st time by the practice, let me just say the entire staff is amazing, sweet helpful & a happy bunch! Dr Berinstein is a God send & just all around anazing, bedside manner, professionalism is so awesome! Id recommend this practice
Response: Lisa, our team strives to provide the best experience possible; we appreciate your feedback!

Alice Sykes: Both the associates and my ophthalmologist were efficient and pleasant in spite of a crowded waiting room which was arranged for appropriate COVID distancing. I have been a patient at RGW for many years and have been pleased with their service.

Sue Thompson: The front office is very friendly and professional and is always ready to help you if needed. The technicians are always very friendly and pleasant and are spot-on with your eye problems. Dr. Brian Do is a caring, pleasant, outstanding doctor. He takes the time to explain all procedures and what to expect from them. He never seems to be in a hurry, but sits and listens to your questions. I so value his opinion and suggestions. RGW is an outstanding office and I'm so pleased to be able to be treated by these doctors and their staff.

Richard Suisman: Please advise Dr. Bernstein that the usual black dot 'floater' did not appear that day or after my appt. on Wed, Feb. 23.

sara smith: Doctor is 5 star but the clinic over-books resulting in long wait times. Always have to wait 30+ minutes just to get the treatment.

Joni Daniels: I was taken on time. I was treated with Karen concerned. The doctor was excellent at explaining results and next steps.
Response: Joni, thank you for sharing. Our physicians and staff are dedicated to ensuring a great experience.

The Retina Group of Washington: what do users think?

Alyssa Gurley: What an incredible team. The front desk staff welcomes you with a smile, even if the waiting room is full. I thank God for Justin’s skill and positivity in his work. I typically get extensive eye imaging each visit, but he makes it a smooth, friendly process. I have been with this team for several years now, treated by Dr. Alexander Melamud for my diabetic retinopathy. His expertise and kind demeanor are a reason to never leave. Thank you all.

Raphy Kedar: I had an appointment with Dr. Berinstein at 10:15. Arrived at the office at 10AM. I completed all the paperwork online, the day before, in order to save waiting time. I left the practice at NOON! I waited about 30 minutes to be called in. Spent about 15 minutes with an admitting person to respond to some basic questions, measure eye pressure and administer dilating drops. Spent another 30 minutes waiting. Has my retina scanned for about 5 minutes. Was taken to the doctor's waiting room. Waited another 20 minutes. Doctor Berinstein walked in and spent about 8 minutes with me. Didn't say anything or mention the retina scan. Suggested I double the drop dosage given to me by another doctor and that's it. Am not going back.

Kathleen Berlin: I have had the privilege of seeing Dr. Brian Do twice now. I appreciate his expertise, his caring attitude and his ability to tell me the facts about my eye conditions in terms that I can understand! Before going to Dr. Do, I saw 5 other eye specialists, all of whom incorrectly diagnosed my condition. Dr. Do had the knowledge to accurately surmise what the problem might be and to order the proper test to prove his diagnosis. I now know the truth, all thanks to Dr. Do!

Samuel Boglio: Arrived early, was promptly treated and actually left the office just a minute or two after my scheduled appointment time - office is well run and smoothly checks and treats patients efficiently.

Wafaa Sorial: My appointment was 8:30, I was at the office at 8:15 .I done the paperwork and the measurements of my eye pressure and so by 8:40.I waited for doctor area until 10:00 , I have to go without seeing the doctor with dilating eyes , very very bad experience with Fairfax office.
Response: Wafaa, we appreciate your feedback and will be sure to share your feedback with our team members. Patient care and satisfaction are our number one priority. If you wish to speak to someone directly, please feel free to reach out to Holly Cruz at (703) 698-9335.

S R: Great docs; horrific appointment system. Nearly two hours past my appointment time I was seen by a doc for a total of 10 minutes. A simple follow up test was another 30 minute wait. Need to come back in six months? Sorry, their appointment system doesn't go out that far. I can appreciate that doctors get busy and emergencies arise. I'm busy too. So if I need to plan a half day with dilatated eyes to enjoy uncomfortable chairs in dim lights and the animal channel on TV while waiting to see a doc, just tell me up front.
Response: We appreciate your feedback and will be sure to share your feedback with our team members. Patient care and satisfaction is our number one priority. If you wish to speak to someone directly, please feel free to reach out to our office manager, Holly Wright Cruz, at (703) 698-9335. Thank you, The Management Team at Retina Group of Washington

M Day: I would give the doctor and the staff my husband sees at the Fairfax location 5 stars if we did not have to wait two or more hours for about 20 minutes of actual person to person interaction every appointment. The scheduling really needs to be better organized

Carmen James: This place is wonderful!! Dr John, Dr Pack, and Doctor Hasam. I felt as if I was their only patient. Thank you so so muchCarmen James
Response: Carmen, thank you for sharing your feedback. Our physicians and staff aim for every patient that walks through our doors to experience exceptional care.

Sandy Chernin: I was seen immediately for an eye emergency (was a current patient of the practice). Front staff and physician assistant were competent and supportive. Saw Dr. Minarcik for the first time and was very happy with his care. He was thorough, patient and kind. He explained his findings clearly and has an excellent communication style. Have seen two other doctors here - everyone in this practice is terrific. Also would note that the new office is beautiful and spacious, easily allowing for social distancing. Covid precautions followed. I felt very safe in this office.

Robert Sacchi: Staff was friendly and efficient. Gave detailed answers to my questions. Dr. gave me easy to understand explanations about my situation. Reassured me about an upcoming eye surgery. The appointment was on a Saturday, which fit my work schedule.

Columbia Eye Associates: what do users think?

J Fehrenbach: I have had great experiences with Dr. Luthra. He is thorough, approachable, professional, and explains things cogently. I am especially satisfied with his cataract surgery on both of my eyes. The surgical procedures and the results have been excellent. Based on the information he provided, I decided to go with the multi-focal lenses, which was a wise decision.
Response: Thank you Mr. Fehrenbach for your kind comments! We’re so happy that you had such a great outcome after cataract surgery and the multi-focal intraocular lenses!

Bob: Excellent care over the past ten years. Dr. Luthra virtually changed my life when -- during cataract removal surgery -- he inserted permanent lenses that allow me to see 20/20. (I was legally blind and had an astigmatism prior to the brief surgery.) In addition to having top technical skills, he is that rare doctor who cares about his patients, explains all options, and doesn't push. His office staff has been helpful throughout, even when I called from a trip in Central America.

Dennis Chong: Dr. Luthra has been my primary eyecare doc for many years now. He is engaging and personable so visits aren't overly clinical and dry. He recently performed Epi-Lasik for me (my eyes were so bad I couldn't get standard lasik) and it has been an utter miracle. I'm pretty much at 20/20 now most of the time and honestly I didn't expect that level of success. Would totally recommend.
Response: Thank you Mr. Chong for your kind comments! Congratulations on your excellent outcome!

Susan Rodgers: Dr. Luthra performed my cataract surgeries last August and October. I had the basic lenses covered by Medicare, and was so excited about my 20/10 vision after healing. I have the upmost faith in Dr. Luthra, and especially enjoy his quirky sense of humor. The surgery clinic he uses is top notch.

Deborah Siluk: This doctor is awesome! Through his expertise and talent, he saved the vision in my eye and probably the eye itself. His calm nature and sense of humor helped so much in keeping my stress level down. He is extremely informative and writes down all my instructions for me and makes himself available if any issues arise. I can't say enough good things about him. I even found out one of my other doctors goes to him and she had the same view. I think that says a lot. His staff are wonderful.
Response: Thank you Deborah for your kind comments!

Fallon O'Brien: I made an emergency last-minute appointment at Columbia Eye Associates last year, for (what I would find out to be) a corneal ulcer. While I was very nervous and uneducated on the issue, Dr. Luthra took quick action on an aggressive treatment plan and made me feel at ease. He provides excellent care and takes his patients’ health very seriously. He does not sugar coat things and provides his patients’ with thorough information. He saw me every single day for a week, and multiple times per week for months after that, and gave me his cell phone in case of emergency. Fast forward 13 months and I have 20/20 vision and no ulcer, thanks to Dr. Luthra. He performed epi-LASIK surgery on me in March and I could not be happier. If you are in the Washington, D.C. area and need an ophthalmologist, Columbia Eye Associates is where you need to go.
Response: Thanks so much Fallon for your kind comments!

Donna Barnes: Aftercare from cataract surgery went downhill after such a successful surgery. During my 24 hour checkup, Dr. Luthra's mood and attitude changed towards me after asking questions and repeating my vision rating that one of his assistants had told me weeks ago during a pre op exam. She was relatively new and was giving me an exam that included staring at a light for 5 seconds and repeating it 3 times for each eye. She said my vision was fine and that I had 20/25 vision. I remember this because I never heard those numbers before. During this post operation visit, I asked him about the 20/25 rating and he said no it's 20/40. Then proceeded to tell me he was not going to do my second eye and that he has a right to refuse a patient. He accused me of making numbers up and that he did not like my line of questions. I felt totally humiliated because all I could think of was who would do my second eye and how I would have to find another dr...etc,etc. He totally disrespected me and abused his authority as my doctor. I went home feeling stressed. He had indicated that after eye surgery that it is important not to get stressed. His dismissing me for asking questions and repeating a vision rate that was told to me - was unprofessional. He never asked where I got the numbers. He was answering my questions as though I was a child and made me feel inferior for asking. I couldn't sleep that night trying to figure what went wrong and why was he so short with me, as well as, contemptible and unpleasant. I honestly feel he was already having a bad day and took it out on me because there was no excuse. I even felt he should have called me and apologized. When I left his office I asked him to please reconsider and he said he would think about it. When I got home I made several calls and found out it would be no problem switching doctors and that I should be fine. The following day I cancelled my 1 week follow up and the appt to do surgery on the 2nd eye. He must have changed his mind because I was still on the books, which tells me he realized his actions were uncalled for. All I could think of was what if he has one of those moods while working on my second eye!!!!!

Kim Wilson: After a frustrating month seeing multiple other doctors, Dr. luthra was the only one able to properly treat and heal my reoccurring styes. I moved but continued driving 45 mins to see him. Thank you!
Response: Thank you Ms. Wilson for your kind comments!

Scott Cooper: I have been a patient of Dr Luthra for nearly 8-years now, and I highly recommend. Besides coming in for annual eye exams, I also had Dr Luthra perform my Lasik surgery two years ago (it’s been life changing - and I wish I had done it sooner!). Dr Luthra’s knowledge, professionalism, and demeanor have made him one of my top doctors in DC. Highly recommended.
Response: Thanks Scott!

Elizabeth Nelson: I had a very pleasant experience at columbia eye associates. I had seen another doctor before coming to Dr. Luthra and the service I received at Columbia eye associates was way better. Dr. Luthra was recommended to me by a co-worker and I am so glad I decided to see him. Dr. Luthra took time to listen to my concerns and patiently explained me the diagnosis. I had eye issues since my childhood, Dr. Luthra is the one doctor that who seemed to be genuinely concerned about the health of my eye. He is very knowledgeable, no wonder the co-worker who recommended him spoke so highly of him. I even called Dr. Luthra on the weekend for some issue and he told me exactly what would help me. I am so happy with the care that I received. The place was clean and everyone followed the protocols. I would any day recommend Columbia Eye Associates to my friends and family.
Response: Thanks Elizabeth for your kind comments!

The Retina Group of Washington: what do users think?

Adrienne Washington: I've been a patient with The Retina Group for over 13 years. And I would have to say with regards to service and professionalism, I've never been disappointed. I especially appreciated how the staff and patients were scheduled during the heightened "Covid" pandemic. Everything continued to flow smoothly and efficiently. And kuddos to Dr Vu, he is one of the Best!!
Response: Adrienne, thank you for sharing your feedback. Our physicians and staff will be happy to hear that we were able to meet your expectations.

Erin Weaver: The office is wonderful! The nurses and receptionist are so kind and great with my daughter. The Dr. was also wonderful, very thorough and he did a great job answering my daughters tough questions. My only complaint is that, after testing, we were in our room waiting for the doctor for almost 30 min. No one came in and checked in and let us know how much longer... We just kept waiting and waiting. Follow up: 1/27/2022. I had to take some stars off from my last review. Again, the staff is amazing! The nurses where brilliant with my daughter and the Dr. was excellent. But the appointment took 2 and half HOURS. There were so many people there. As much as I love this office, we will have to find another Dr. It just takes too long and that seems to be the norm there and they really don't seem too worried about how long it takes. It's not Ok.

Treasure Paschall: Mother had a 9:30 Appt & we’re STILL WAITING to see doctor @11:15. My mother said she always has to wait a long time to see doctor. Apparently RGW HAS a scheduling problem at the Silver Springs MD office I see other reviews where people are complaining about wait times At this office. Please fix your system. Maybe you only have 1 doctor in the office, please schedule more or adjust patients so they don’t have to wait hours. Or at least call in advance & give option to reschedule if you know they will have a loooong wait. The people that were waiting were all elderly. One lady had to call & explain she was going to be late for another appointment. I’m sure she’ll be waiting at least another hour if not more. This is my moms doctor. If it was mine & I had to always wait. It wouldn’t be any longer! Elderly people shouldn’t have to wait this long. Many take Metroacess, how are they suppose to tell them what time to pick them up if you always have people sitting around for hours. I saw at least 5/6 staff members. With this large facility & the number of staff floating around I would expect excellent service. Won’t be recommending you all to any of my friends. I gave 2 stars because Dr Katira was nice & took time to address my mothers questions & concerns. Lady who checked us in was nice enough to offer the waitin patients a drink & snack…sure she knew everyone would be waiting a long time

Hillegonda Hartley: Everybody i dealt with at this Silver Spring practice was extremely friendly and helpful but doctor Katira is absolutely fabuleus. If you have eye problems and need surgery I highly recommend you go see her.

yolanda hill: I had a pleasant experience at my appointment. I appreciated the professionalism, warmth/friendliness from the staff that met with me.
Response: Yolanda, thank you for sharing your feedback with our physicians and staff.

Pam Shakoori: Clean, neat, organized, extremely kind, and extremely competent. I went for the first time last week and I am more than happy with my experience.

Maria Merkowitz: While I think Dr. Katira is fabulous - I did not appreciate the lengthy wait I experienced in the office. I arrived on time for a 12:30 pm appointment - but waited at least 15 minutes before the first person could examine me and approximately 30 minutes before Dr.Katira saw me. There should be no reason for this - as I was the only person in the waiting room when I arrived.

RoseAnn Davis: All was good with the check in process and the pandemic protocols. While the staff is friendly and courteous, it is especially comforting to have confidence in the physician that I saw. Parking is the only issue with using this site.Thank you.

Mercedes Santos: I have a lot of confidence in Dr. Katira's medical knowledge and expertise, and can recommend her as a retina specialist. But unfortunately my experience at the office is consistently unsatisfactory. So much so that I am going to find another doctor. I arrive on time but always have to wait for at least 2 hours before seeing the doctor. The patient flow in this office really needs some work.

Diana Christine: The Retina Group of Washington has been a lifesaver for me (certainly saving my vision), and the customer service and bedside manner are just as exceptional as the medical care I receive there. Even when I have had emergencies after hours, I have been given the best care. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Katira, her doctor colleagues, and all the medical staff who have worked with me.

Visionary Eye Doctors: what do users think?

Alison M. Hecimovich: Arrived the day of the appointment and the fire alarms were being tested for the whole building. No fault of the practice, but it was difficult to concentrate and hear with the alarms going off every few minutes. Technician was kind. Saw the doctor for all of 3 minutes. Optical department was horrific. Didn’t read my prescription correctly for contacts the first time, charged the incorrect amount three different times to correct that error. Was told contacts would arrive between 7-10 days after appointment. 10 days go by and still no contacts. Messaged the office; no response. Called the office and left a message; no response. When I finally get a person on the line three weeks after my appointment, they say that it shows my contacts should be delivered by that Saturday (a month after my appointment). When I finally receive my contacts, the invoice says the order was placed the day I called and actually spoke to someone. Not sure if I’ll be returning.

Linda Sugiarto: I have never seen even by the technician on time. I have never left this doctor office in less than an hour. Typically I waited for about an hour just to get the technician just to see me then I had to wait again to see the doctor. They need to stop over booking patients so that they could make more money. They need to respect their patient's time.
Response: Hi Linda, we’d like to apologize for your negative experience. At Visionary Eye Doctors, we prioritize client satisfaction and customer service, so we would like to speak with you further about your situation and how we may be able to rectify it. Please give us a call at (301) 896-0890 x 148 to further discuss your review.

Stephanie Thomas: Beautiful office and amazing staff. I took my son to get an exam and he had his glasses in like a week and a half.
Response: Thank you for the great review, Stephanie. We are incredibly happy to hear that you were satisfied with our services. Looking forward to seeing you at your next visit.

Mark Magellan: Very professional. And the doctor couldn't have been kinder / more empathic. They made an otherwise tough experience much more human and manageable.
Response: Hi Mark, thank you so much for taking the time to supply feedback. We are so delighted that you rate our service as 5 Star as we strive to provide just that for all our patients. We Look forward to seeing you again soon. Best Wishes.

Felicia A Lightfoot: I would like to express my gratitude to all the staff, most particularly to Francois. I appreciate his quiet manner; his patience; the way he communicates my eye care needs; the ways he cares for the patients. My last visit was outstanding! thanks to him and the rest of the staff!
Response: Thank you Felicia for your kind words. Our team of professionals at Visionary Eye Doctors, are dedicated to providing you and all our patients the very best in eye care. It is so nice to hear that your experience was such a positive one. We'll share this with our team, to let them know to keep up the amazing work. Thank you for choosing us as your eye care provider. We look forward to seeing you again.

Andre Perret: Bad service all around. The main issue was that even though there were respectful and good customer service, they cancelled an appointment surgery after we show up the same day. They didn't call or inform us about the cancellation, and they still charged $180 for that day. I have tried to communicate with them and show evidence but they still don't remove the charges. The ophthalmologist clearly stated no charges for that day, but still they counted and well I won't pay it, but it seems collection disagrees. It is what it is, but there was no fair communication. This is for the Washington DC reviews, it seems the other agency works for efficiency with paperwork.
Response: Hello Andre, we apologize for any negative impressions we may have created during your experience with us. It is never our intention to leave our customers feeling dissatisfied. As we continue to strive for complete customer satisfaction, we would love to take this opportunity to speak more with you about your negative experience. Please call us at (301) 836-3165 at your earliest convenience so we can work to correct this situation.

Elisa Ferrara Gunduz: I very much like the doctors and recommend going for a doctor visit. This review is mainly about their optical department that you are funneled to after your doctor visit. Overall they are not the most organized or service oriented, but this latest interaction was very frustrating. I made an appointment to pick up a box of contacts - one would think that would about 5 minutes, but it took about 25 - there's just no reason that it should take so long to pick up a purchase.

Roxana Gonzales: During the services for Visionary Eye Doctor, we had services on Dec 2nd and then on Dec 23rd for a Stye eye for my daughter. The doctor had a consultation on the 2nd but then on the 23rd we went to the office waited 1.5-2 hours and when we enter with Doctor Nima Moainie, MD, he apologized that he kept us waiting but he was not going to be able to perform the surgery that day for which we cancelled our jobs to go and be with out 10yo daughter. Therefore he said he would cancelled the previous consultation since we didn't have the surgery for the consultation and the work performed for that consultation. We got charged out of pocket $180 and out jobs cost us mine and my wife that day of work. I'm reporting this also because we try to negotiate with Visionary Eye Doctor, and they were confrontation, and disrespectful.
Response: Hi Roxana, we’d like to apologize for your negative experience. At Visionary Eye Doctors, we prioritize client satisfaction and customer service, so we would like to speak with you further about your situation and how we may be able to rectify it. Please give us a call at (301) 836-3165 to further discuss your review.

Meira Neggaz: I have come here twice, once for a particular eye issue and once for an opthamology check up. Both times the service and medical expertise were great. The doctor I saw was friendly, knowledgable and thorough. I would highly recommend this office for opthamology needs.

Corinne Plough: Great first experience! Dr. Saaed was so nice and helped give me options to find the contacts that are the best fit and comfort for me. She also asked Dr. Sarezky to pop in, and he gave me the best explanation about pros/cons to surgically treating my cataract that I’ve ever gotten. Beautiful facility, lots of high-tech instruments (not sure what they all do but they seem cool), and great staff from reception to the doctors. I didn’t realize at first that I had been scheduled with an optometrist not ophthalmologist for a dual vision/medical appointment, but it all worked out in the end. Overall great experience and will certainly be coming back.

Lustbader Jay M MD: what do users think?

Jory H: Dr. Lustbader is everything you want in a physician – vast experience and knowledge, and a personal and caring manner. I went to him when my former ophthalmologist appeared to be uneasy with performing my cataract surgery due to a complication. My surgery and follow-up with Dr. Lustbader could not have been a better experience. His communication skills are superb. In view of his many responsibilities as a diagnostician, surgeon, and professor, you may have to wait to get in to see him. However, it’s worth the wait.

metromed13: Dr. Lustbader is the finest ophthalmologist in the DC Metro area. I am a physician and have referred him literately hundreds of patients. He also performed my LASIK procedure with perfect results! 20/20 no more glasses...

MsLemonade2010: They canceled 2 appts two days prior to each appt(roughly took SIX months to see him) and also when I finally visited his office, I had to wait an HOUR without any explanation or apology. I was meeting interns prior to seeing Dr. Lustbader for less than 5 minutes and the whole process took me TWO and HALF hours... What a joke! When I mentioned about 2 cancellations prior to seeing him, he seemed offended and didn't even say anything. They couldn't even proceed all the required testings because of their tardiness and asked me to make another appt. Not to mention a receptionist forgot to send my refer to the insurance company and now I have to clean up their mistake. If I could, I would give NEGATIVE five stars!

Jorge A. Bustamante: Dr. Lustbader and his staff are very professional and friendly. Getting an appointment isn't easy, due to Dr. Lustbader busy schedule. But all good things are worth waiting for, I wouldn't trust my eyes in anyone else's hands.

Sebastian Roa: I scheduled a visit with Dr. Lustbader's office three months prior to my appointment date. Two days before I was supposed to be seen, I get a call from his office saying they need to reschedule. The next date they gave me was another month away, and when I mentioned how upset I was about this, they immediately said they actually had an opening on an earlier date. Take what you may from this review.

Kyungsoon Yoon: Very happy with the surgery outcome. I had a traditional surgery. Did not pressure me to premium lenses nor laser surgery like some doctors. I am happy of my choice.

Zoey Qaradaghy: My best doctor, he is a very knowledgeable, patient, and smart doctor I have been going to his office for more than 5 years he is a super kind doctor I am ready to do my laser eye surgery soon many thanks to his assistant Megan she is very kind.

James Smalhout: Efficient, thorough, authoritative,

The Retina Group of Washington: what do users think?

Ludria Pitts: The Retina Group was very detailed in the examination of my eyes. They explained every step and made me feel very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend them for any eye concerns you might have,

Jackie Jackson: My Initial visit was a long wait. Several patients had the same appointment time. My second visit was uncall for,had to wait 48 minutes to see Dr. Khalifar to complete the retina imaging procedure after the eye pressure check. Not acceptable. My third visit was a 30 minute wait. Arrived at 12:30 and I left at 2pm and did not see Dr. Khalifar due to the number of patients with the same appointment time. His staff was nice and professional . Will not return.
Response: Jackie, we appreciate your feedback and will be sure to share your feedback with our team members. Patient care and satisfaction are our number one priority. If you wish to speak to someone directly, please feel free to reach out to Alisha Stevenson at (301) 868-8747.

Judith Spalding: Have been seeing Dr. Khalifar for almost a year. He and his staff are efficient and very caring. When I experienced an irrational the night after my procedure and called the emergency number, I received a callback very quickly. I was very impressed. And I love how Dr. Khalifar use “slight of hand” to keep me unaware of when he actually does thr shot in my eye.
Response: Judith, thank you for your kind words. Our physicians and staff take great pride in providing our patients with high quality care.

Albert Chatmon Jr: I am so very grateful to have Dr. Aziz Khanifar as my eye doctor. He and his staff are always so professional and very knowledgeable. He has been my Doctor for over 6 years and each challenge that I have faced, he has been right there by my side, as a caring friend. Thank you Dr. Khanifar, you are a true blessing.

Tonie Boswell-Green: Courteous and friendly always! Dr Khanifar is very pleasant and encouraging. The staff is always efficient!

Stanley Tweedy: My experience with the RGW Group was a good one.The staff is pleasant and efficient in their examinations.

Amelia Peregoy: I had a non-normal happening with my eyes and was able to get an appointment the next day for it to be checked out. I am already a patient of the practice, so that may have helped, but getting an appointment so quickly and getting an answer to my issue put my mind at rest.
Response: Amelia, your kind words make us feel proud of what we do. Thank you!

Debra Pierce: The checkin took a few minutes but the wait wasn’t long to be taken in the back. Everybody was nice and pleasant. I passed all test and Dr. Phillips has great manners and skills. He is thorough and willing to answer questions. When I went to checkout the regular girl was not at her desk so a lady in one of the offices assisted me with checkout. I felt like people cared and it was nice to see a little bit of teamwork going on. My visits are usually good but this was great. Thanks to everyone for making me feel special during my visit.

Olivia: I have been to this office twice in the past 2 years and both times I left very satisfied. Dr Geoffrey Kaplan is a very professional, knowledgeable, and caring doctor. He made me feel at ease and gave me all the information possible regarding my eye issue. I plan to undergo surgery and am very confident I am in good hands. The receptionist was very polite and scheduled me to see the doctor fairly fast. The only thing I didn't care for was the parking BC it was a long walk to the building. They also have your records available through an online site, which was convenient. Definitely recommend this office!

Michael Freeman: I have never given a business one star before, but I can't think of one that deserves it more. I went to an appointment there four years ago because of severe floaters, flashes and discomfort in my eyes I believed at the time was caused by trauma to the eye, which had gotten so bad it made it impossible to read out of my left eye. I was told (at age 32) that this was normal and I should just use eye drops and take allergy medication. I asked about a vitrectomy to remove the floaters, and the doctor said he wouldn't recommend it or perform it on me as it involves some small risk. Fast forward 4 years later, after living in constant discomfort the whole time, I see an opthomologist in my home state of NY, and the doctor instantaneously noticed swelling and inflammation in my eye, prescribes me steroidal eye drops, and refers me to an inflammation specialist and a retinal specialist. They believe I have an auto immune issue causing this, and the opthamologist was amazed that none of the other doctors noticed any of this. This problem should have been noticed four years ago by this office, instead I spent them genuinely terrified that I was going blind and no one could do anything for me. On top of that, their inept receptionist has been sending me bills for over $800 for one visit that involved a basic dilated eye exam, even though I've told her countless times that it was to be billed through my old jobs insurance. I am beyond mad that because of their lack of knowledge, I was tortured by this condition to the point where I was considering suicide to not deal with it any more. So if you have an appointment here in regards to floaters of flashes, I'd recommend just asking a magic 8 ball, it will give you more of an answer than any doctor in this practice will, and it won't cost almost a grand.

The Retina Group of Washington: what do users think?

Robert Lewicki: Great service, very conscious of Covid-19 precautions, rapid and timely appointment schedules, friendly staff, and of course excellent equipment with knowledgeable doctors to translate / relate results from the examination. I have been going for years and have always appreciated their quality experienced personnel as a patient.

Alexander Pierce: My experience with Retina Group started April 2018 My first surgery to attach my retina lasted about a week.. My second attempt only lasted about two days .So I was told that I need a scleral buckle had no idea how painful this was going to be.. third attempt to attach my retina also failed..Even after all these failure I still believe in my doctors.. The 4 operation was a success they also added Silicone Oil.. which later turned out to be a bad decision. The fifth operation was to remove the silicon oil and add a gas bubble with the possibility of regaining some eyesight. Well after all the unsuccessful surgeries I ended up with optic nerve damage which leads to glaucoma.. Four years later that’s what I live with day to day. Loss of vision in my right eye .. once the damage is done there’s no reversal’s.. Please take retina detachment Seriously try to find a doctor that has many successful operations..

lizzie a: I absolutely feel so very blessed to be cared for especially by Dr. Reilly. Dr. Reilly listens and explains everything that is happening. Not once have I felt rushed or left an appointment without learning answers to my questions! Dr. Reilly treats me with dignity and such KINDNESS! Truely a remarkable physician and human being! The staff at Retina Group is also amazing! Each and every staff member from the front desk to all the Techs! Fantastic! Thank you!

John Trent: The first work station at the fornt desk was quite military-like. She was in control of the line, but could be more customer friendlywhen she tells the incoming person to stand one way or another. The inside tech and doctor were jus tfine than you,.

Alex Hershaft: The visit took two hours, which I anticipated from reading other reviews. Only 5 minutes of that time was allotted to my interaction with Ophthalmologist Cuong Vu. He informed me that I had "dry" macular degeneration (fully expected at my age) and handed me an introductory booklet, a pale shadow of the information available on the internet. The booklet suggested the so-called Amsler grid test that was not administered and that I failed upon getting home. After our interaction, Vu's assistant handed me the copy of a letter addressed to an ophthalmologist who removed my cataract a decade ago. The letter contained additional cryptic information that Vu never brought up. I hope it wasn't important, as I will never know, unless I do another cataract removal someday. By the way, the practice demands on-site payment of the insurance copay, which they never mentioned before the visit.

andrew dubroff: I have the highest respect for Dr. Johnson, and I feel fortunate to have him as my physician. He is knowledgeable, deeply concerned about his patients, thoughtful in his approach to my medical issues, and always sure to be clear in his communications. I couldn't asked for anything more.

Jason: This place is an absolute scam! Waited 4 hours for my wife to get a simple exam, they dilated her eyes and looked in them with a flash light. 10 minutes of service after 4 hours of waiting and they charged $515. Don't give these crooks money!

Jo Grossheim: the office is run very efficiently.Dr. Reilly also works fast and efficiently.but always takes time to ask about my family. She makes the unpleasant injections seem like nothing at all.

Hank Males: The technician was great. I appreciated Dr. Johnson , he was friendly and knowledgeable.
