Erin Wagner: I’ve gotten so many high quality items from Miss Pixie’s over the last several years, but today I’m finally leaving the five star review they’ve always deserved! We had scheduled a delivery for them to bring a table we purchased, and Miss Pixie herself rolled up in a pickup truck this morning right on time. It turns out the delivery drivers were stuck in an elevator, but somehow that didn’t stop them at all! We gave her a hand and she didn’t charge us the usual delivery fee to make up for the trouble (what trouble?!). We look forward to continuing to shop at Miss Pixie’s as we furnish our home.

India Lindsay: Store has a variety of furniture, art, and random decorations. Everything is laid out artistically while still being easy to walk around. Majority of items are on the pricier side, though you can find a few steals. I snagged a painted medium-sized pot hand painted in Italy for $12.

Alexandra Goodman: Lovely antique store with some really nice pieces. Prices for some of the larger items were reasonable, but pricing was kind of all over the place. Obvious sets of items (chairs, side tables, glasses, etc.) were priced individually which was weird for an antique store. Other pieces were priced way too high, like $95 for an IKEA mirror or $250 for a simple basic wooden console table (which would have been $50 anywhere else but DC). Overall, I enjoyed this store and walking around inside, but I probably won’t buy here due to the pricing.

Jim Michaels: While the design offerings are attractive, I cannot do business with a store that has no interest in their clients. I have experienced being ignored in many of their store locations but the Washington DC store takes the prize. Not one person greeted me or offered help in the 25 minutes that I wandered the store looking for what I had received an email for that very morning. When I did finally ask someone and show a photo of the item, I received a perfunctory, “sorry” that it was not in stock. I was sorry to interrupt him from typing on his laptop and sorrier yet that I had imagined actually receiving some assistance from a salesperson. How silly of me!

Jessica Nazarova: We have been in this store a couple of times ordering furniture and taking our time deciding between things. Jonathan has been extremely patient and kind with us. My husband and I have vowed to stop shopping online after this in-store experience! :) Even our 5 year old, who typically would hate being in a furniture store, enjoys being at Design Within Reach because he gets to play with the spinning kids chair and globe lights. We also spoke with four or five other designers in their store and everybody was extremely helpful and kind when we had questions about something. The atmosphere here is great!!!

I. David Shocket: Worst customer service ever in the Georgetown store. Longtime customer of DWR and have never had a bad experience previously. We ordered 6 Bacco chairs during the March sale which were in stock. We received 4 chairs in a timely fashion; two chairs lost en route. Replacement chair was wrong color. Multiple emails to the store manager with no response. Visits to the store on several occasions with reassurances that we would have a response in 48 hours - no response. The corporate office resolved our issues in 48 hours, and we finally received our sixth chair in August (5 months later). Order online and avoid the aggravation.

Response: Hi Josef, thank you for the comment. This is actually a common misconception about the company name, so we’re happy to address it. Design Within Reach started out (more than 20 years ago) with the mission to make authentic modern design accessible. Back then, customers simply weren’t able to buy the classics (Eames, Saarinen, Le Corbusier, etc.) at retail, meaning those pieces were “out of reach” for anyone who wasn't a professional interior designer, working with middlemen or visiting Europe to do their furniture shopping. DWR began forming relationships with renowned design manufacturers around the world to stock classics and newly designed pieces, all with the idea to make design “within reach.” Over the years we’ve continued to expand our assortment with new products at a variety of prices. hansel tan: The Herman Miller sale sign invited my wife and I to check out Eames lounge chair inside the clean and well designed store of Design Within Reach. Both of us came inside the store with a cup of coffee in hand, we politely asked if it’s ok to bring beverage indoor and the staff answered politely that it was ok. The staffs were very polite and helpful to both my wife and I, definitely a great selling point for furnitures shop. We checkout out the multiple different lounge chairs they have on display with great caution and loved all of them.

Brandon Gaimari: Customer service is actually good but products are over priced junk. Bought a bedroom set and the design of the bed causes it to squeak every time you roll over. Customer service had Dr. Furniture come out twice - one time screws were missing in the bed, the next time installed slat pads (why were these not installed originally?). For the price you pay, the quality is not what it should be. Beware.

Would not recommended the people that work here. Service is below expectations for the money you spend and management should do a better job. Seems like they do not care or engage with clients. Kathryn Adamcik: I ordered a couch from here in August and it was to be delivered at the start of December. It was delayed until the end of December and I waited for it to arrive. 1 day before it was supposed to arrive in the warehouse I got an email saying it would be delayed for 2 more months. I waited for 2 months and days before it was supposed to arrive in the warehouse after the 2 month delay I got an email saying it was delayed again. I have called customer service and they have been of no help. They have no idea when the couch will arrive or what the progress is on it. They will not give a discount for this long delay. I am stuck in a pattern where I expect the couch to arrive any day, and then it gets pushed back. This is not okay. I paid over 3k for my couch and am just getting brushed off by customer service, the managers that I have spoken with, and the associates who we spoke to in the store we shopped at. I was planning on purchasing a side table, coffee table, and lamp after the couch arrived, but I will no longer be using room and board in the future. I ask you all to be wary of purchasing from here. I paid for the couch in full and now it looks as if it will never arrive. I expect more from this company, and am highly dissapointed.

Catie Kemp: Love love love. They were a bit too pricey for me to consider when I was living in my apartment, but since buying my place last November I have become a very loyal customer. I started working with Daren to get an idea of what I wanted in my living room- just having the sounding board was so helpful. I have since outfitted my entire living room with them- probably went to the store at least ten times before making my order and never felt harassed or pushed into buying immediately. My mom bought her first house in over a decade this summer and I’ve encouraged her to buy with them too (which she has and has had an equally good experience). The biggest thing for me when I’m spending money on furniture is knowing that a) it will last and b) having confidence in my purchase. I most recently ordered a set of four dining chairs which arrived on Friday and the color just isn’t quite right in my space. I went into the store yesterday and discussed the issue with an associate (didn’t catch her name)- they are very up front about wanting to make things right if you’re not happy. She gave me a sample swatch to take home and test in my space and this morning I called customer care who was happy to facilitate an exchange for me. They are back ordered until February so they even offered me the option of keeping the current chairs (so long, of course, as they are kept in excellent condition). Even speaking to their central customer service center is a personalized experience- I don’t have the same concern with other businesses that my order or request is going to get lost in the shuffle. You can get just about anything in any color/fabric/wood stain/finish that they have and the quality is outstanding- I really wish they were in the kitchen cabinet business because their wood quality, in my opinion, is unmatched by any other business I’ve explored at their scale. Everything is made in the US (Minnesota I believe). Of course with the pandemic things (especially custom items) can take a couple or a few months to come in, but this is far from specific to R&B and well worth the wait. I’ve had three or four delivery experiences with them and each time the employees were punctual, communicative, and, most importantly, careful with my home and furniture! In summary I can’t recommend them enough. They have found a customer for life in me and I am happy to scream my unsolicited appreciation from the rooftops any time! Edited to add- forgot to mention they are dog friendly (with treats!). If this isn’t the sign of a good business I don’t know what is.

Renee Davis: Don’t get me wrong, I love this furniture store. The customer service is great. Delivery service (workers) is great. It’s the actual product, the furniture quality that deserves 1 star (none if I could) our last purchase was the Reese sectional sofa. The buttons pick you when you sit on it and the cushions are cheap. No Cush whatsoever! It’s like sitting on the floor. The entertainment center has no wire outlets in the back for cord management and it scratches easily. And even though the only rerun policy listed is for mattresses I was told (Ginny) that if it was a couple weeks past they would be able to take it back? Do not be fooled by the pretty picture. It’s not worth the price!

It is not an antique store, rather a salvage store that sell second hand and used construction, home improvement, kitchen cabinets, doors and windows, and electric appliances etc for decent prices. Friendly staff and plenty of parking spots.

Jennifer Ibrahim: What an amazing community resource that i bet most people aren’t even aware is here. This is the goodwill of home renovation. They will pickup things you don’t need anymore (they recently came to my home in dc to pick up an old toilet and vanity for donation). They have such gorgeous stuff and lots of awesome antiques and all at great prices. Love the idea of shopping here since it’s environmentally friendly to recycle and reuse instead of buy new!

So I asked for help and he said “im on break” and walked away. I understand people need to eat but dang there are better ways to speak to people and offer them help. Tim Tousey: Quality of the furniture is great, but the product availability and hassle of actually getting what we paid for was quite the opposite. After getting half of what was purchased a couple weeks after it was promised, we cancelled the remaining items save for an umbrella. When we heard the umbrella was ready for pickup (couple of months and a different fabric later) we called to confirm that we could come get it, only to learn that it hadn’t made it to the store from the warehouse after all. So we wait another week…. Just really unimpressed and inconvenienced with the delivery aspects of the operation.

Clifford Crittenden: Two stars — one star for being open and one for selling outdoor furniture. Other than nailing their basic business function, we found Offenbachers in Rockville to be a suboptimal experience. We arrived on a busy Saturday and waited for 30 minutes before an associate looked our way. We understood the constraints of being short staffed and patiently waited our time. Once helped, our sales associate seemed less than interested in us as customers, and as I was asking for pricing information he expressed an interests in talking to other customers. We had spent less then five minutes with him. My wife and I left and 90 minutes later spent a great deal of money at another outdoor furniture store, and feel great about our purchase and never having to consider Offenbachers again.

Lisa Sarnovsky: Great experience overall. We visited the Rockville store a few weeks ago and had Steve as our salesperson. Steve was patient and knowledgable, explaining the differences in patio furniture options (construction, fabrics, anticipated customer order waiting periods, etc.). After about an hour of asking questions and testing things out, we decided to order a mix of items in stock and floor models. We received a phone call a few days ahead of delivery and again that same day with the confirmed delivery time. Everything showed up in good condition and the delivery service was highly professional. We are going to be enjoying our high quality patio furniture for years to come.

Ann Yetter: My husband and came to Offenbachers to checkout new outdoor furniture after a family member broke through the seat of our outdoor chairs. The outdoor furniture we were using was purchased from Offenbachers well over 15 years ago. It has sat out on our deck, uncovered, through every imaginable weather and held up exceptionally. It was time to get new, so we traveled to the Offenbachers store, just to look around. Brenda greeted us and told us to feel free to look around and asked if we had questions. We explained what we wanted, and she worked with me and my indecision for over an hour. She gave us suggestions, and then gave us time to contemplate. When we decided to buy, she sat with us, and helped us with size, shape, and color of the deck furniture. It was delivered before the estimated date, placed on my deck, and the trash removed. It is beautiful! The service, delivery (we didn’t have to be home) and follow up have been exceptional. Although the furniture is pricey, we know it will last years and will still be beautiful.

Jessica Kropf: This is a good store to visit if you like solid wood furniture. They have some items available to carry away same day, and offer custom orders as well. They also have a lot of large wood slabs on hand to select and custom finish for live edge tables. The location at 2936-B Prosperity Ave. is scheduled to close and consolidate with the Alexandria location (possibly by July 2022?). They have live edge wood slabs there still, along with rustic reclaimed cabinets and furniture, tansu style chests, and tables and chairs. Items are discounted at that location currently until the move, or visit the main location in Alexandria for a wider selection of furniture and decorative items.

After we used the table daily for a year, we noticed the wood started to separate at one end-- we contacted the owner (Bram) and he happily fixed the table, free of charge. Even gave us a loaner for the days it was in their shop. They picked it up and dropped it off around our schedule. It looks and works great now. Talk about standing behind your products. Would definitely shop here again.

Knowing lead times are stretched, we ordered some outdoor furniture well ahead of when we’d need it. When we approached the date that we thought we’d take delivery, we learned there had been some miscommunication about how/when the delivery would occur. Warehouse Showrooms really bent over backwards to address the situation and make it work for us. Super helpful and responsive customer service. Furniture delivery guys were great too, very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to enjoy our Polywood rockers!

Regina Mock: I love thrifting at stores like this for odd pieces of glassware or furniture. The store layout is not the best for shopping. Quite disorganized in the back with just general groupings of different types of glasses. It’s a bit like a scavenger hunt, to sift through everything. There are lots of construction materials like tiles, faucets, sinks, piping, power tools, and large cabinets and statement pieces. During the pandemic there was a large amount of good priced office furniture from local businesses closing. The location is kinda far from everything else in the middle of all these industrial buildings.

Tee Cee: Came here back in summer of 2021, and was so pleasantly surprise by the prices and variety of the furniture, tile, and faucets. Came back today to buy again--walked out empty-handed. They are now WAY overpriced. $300 faucets, used water lines for $5 that you can buy new at Home Depot for $6--and the list goes on. Also, I saw something troubling in the store. There was a sign for the volunteers that noted they are not allowed to lounge, that if they need something to do to ask the manager, and that they are only allowed a 15 min break if working at least a 4 hour shift. Wow! The last time we came they were rife with volunteers but this time there were barely any--and I see why! Not coming back.

Geneva: I was wary of buying from this store based on some of the reviews here; however, after a year of searching for the right sectional, I found the perfect one for me at West Elm. I received good service from the store. The sales person was very clear that my sectional - which I bought in November for a nice discount - would not arrive until early January. As promised, I got calls and emails from the delivery department the second week of January and was able to schedule a date that worked for me. The two delivery guys were amazing - they had to maneuver their big truck down a narrow alley to get to the loading dock. They were professional and efficient and out of my apartment in less than 15 minutes. The sectional is exactly what I wanted and so comfortable.

Annapurna Mitra: The worst delivery experience I have encountered. I ordered a dining table and four chairs, with in-home delivery. The chairs were sent via UPS, not assembled, and with no explanation despite paying $250 for in-home delivery. I live alone, and there are 7 pages of assembly instructions requiring two people. I have no way of doing this, and am left with a living room like a furniture warehouse. On the other hand, the dining table, which was ready 10 days ago, and I had asked the customer service to wait and schedule an appointment for all items together is yet to arrive. I cannot find a way to schedule anything on the website, and on the phone I can not find a way to talk to a human being. I have received no response to my email. If I could give zero stars I would.

Jamie X: I am a huge fan of the CB2 brand. I visited the store to see some of the contents in my online cart in person. I loved every piece just as much as I did online. The showroom itself is okay. Georgetown is always busy. One plus is the complimentary validation of parking if you visit the store for 1 hour. They did have floor models of a lot of the more featured pieces. I felt the rug selection was a little lacking. And the selection of lighting was also lacking. Overall if you know what your looking for you trip will be worth it. The sales staff was friendly and helpful with out being pushy...another plus.

She could have handled the situation with a lot more grace. I won’t be back

The associate checking us out asked her for help, she came over obviously annoyed with him then ignored us standing directly in front of her. This male associate was kind, friendly and helpful. He went out of his way to help us. It bothered me that she would treat him this way, especially in front of customers. Maybe she was having a day or was exhausted but it was off putting.

However lately I find that the prices are stupid expensive for the used everything they are selling. You can find some reasonably priced items but way to little and to far in between. Not sure what happened to the store.. They have used pictures priced at $175 dollars with half off. Not worth it. The appliances are not tested or guaranteed to work. You can bring them back within 7 days for store credit. I did that once, not again.

Response: We are a shop run completely by volunteers who sacrifice their time to serve the community and the many ministries that are supported by the thrift shop. We are also open on Saturdays from 10 to 4.

Barbara McLean: I used to love this store but since it came Prime it’s changed. The racks are so jammed it’s hard to see the clothing. So many employees putting out merchandise the aisles are blocked. Checkout people are busy chatting with each other in Spanish it’s hard to get their attention. Prices have increased as well.

N: Not a great selection of items and only two fitting rooms with a line that takes forever because there’s no enforcement of the “5 item limit” policy.If you are hoping for housewares, don’t shop here. They write the prices on the glass and items (I included photos). The marker doesn’t appear to rub off.

Keith L: Some interesting finds, most of the stuff is priced near retail and not usually in good shape. The worst thing is prices are marked in grease pen and almost impossible to get out on a lot of material, found some interesting pottery but was ruined with a price written in grease pen that will never come out of Terra Cotta, very foolish of management to do this.

Richard Hunter: Always lots of people and looks like lots of donations all the time. I have left lots and lots of stuff there myself. But the thing that gets me is the dumpsters in the back. They throw away lots and lots of stuff. I think their decisions on what is salable and what is not is not great. But the turnover of merchandise is what makes it a worthwhile stop on the thrift store circuit. It is not super organized and not super clean. Wear your mask.

Abi Maghamfar: A place to donate unwanted items and buy used items from furniture to toys to kitchenware, clothes, shoes, books, DVDs, etc at reasonable prices. If you buying toys, puzzles and games or anything that have multiple pieces, makes sure all pieces are there as this has been one of the disappointing aspects of buying stuff here. The other disappointment is the lack of organization and cleanliness of the facility. Love the idea of recycling and reusing rather than sending them to the wasteland and Unique provides that opportunity.

Alice L.: Unique Thrift is a for-profit enterprise owned by Savers, which is owned by a private equity firm in the Seattle area. It is NOT a charity shop and does not donate its profits to charity. Their website clearly states: "Shopping in our stores does not support any non-profit." The company says it purchases donated items from some local non-profits; however, it does not release details on these buying deals. The company is large and owns many thrift stores around the country. I mention this because there are true charity shops in the area--including Goodwill, Urban Thrift, Salvation Army, church shops, etc.--that are actually charities and donate their profits to charity. Some of the real charity shops are even run by volunteers working for no pay in order to help the cause. A lot of people seem to think Unique is a charity and the attorney general in Minnesota has in the past accused this company of misrepresenting how much it gives to charity. So if you have lovely and near-new items to donate, I highly suggest donating them to authentic charity shops. I frequently shop the charity shops, but I also shop at Unique. Unique Thrift is still a worthwhile place to shop and I have found many nice items for good prices. It is pretty well managed and prices are marked clearly. The merchandise is generally clean and not damaged, although you have to examine your items carefully. There are 7-day exchanges but only for clothing and shoes. Be very careful buying anything else that might have defects, such as luggage, electronics, furniture, etc. Some items do have hidden damage so you have to look carefully. There are discounts here on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays only so those days tend to be crowded.

JJ Edwards: Its a huge thrift store, as afar as I know and for so many thrift store I had visited this is my favorite one. They have huge selection of clothes, shoes, toys, books, furniture, kitchen ware and many more. Worth to check out!

Sara O'Brien: I have been going to this place for years and always felt welcome, but today was the worst experience of my life. We were in line for self checkout, when I saw that register 18 was open, as I proceeded with my daughter to the register the woman that was in charged of self checkout named Charika told us, "come here because I cannot see what you ring there." We walked to the register that she told us and as I scanned this woman stands there staring at us scan each item. I was already getting upset because she was staring at us scan as if we were the only customers there or as if we were thieves. After scanning 7 items this woman proceeds to approach my bag and count the items that I had placed inside the bag to make sure it matched the amount of items on the screen. I felt that we were being treated as thieves. I got so upset, I asked for the manager, but she said no one was available, so I took a picture of her ID card. This woman stood staring at our register until we finished ringing every item as if we were thieves. People go to the thrift store for many reasons, but in no moment should they be harassed by anyone. This store needs to train its employees to be courteous and not target people

li garcia: Good thrift store. Nice selections of everything. All staff and personnel are nice and friendly except for the old lady at the register. Very mean ! Unfriendly! And the voice specially when she’s on the speaker. She’s always mad and unhappy person. I’m sure I’m not the only one noticing it!

Ariel S.B.: My favorite thrift store! Yeah, some of the prices are just a little bit higher than your average goodwill, but the quality of items is so much better. I’ve seen brand new items from designer stores, sometimes with the tags still on them. Stuff is actually trendy and cute and not dated. They have clothes in every size, the selection is huge! Definitely visit if you’re looking to revamp your wardrobe.

I was having issues with my card while checking out and getting pretty flustered over it, and he was so so nice and helped me fix the problem. Value Village is always the best but Romeo was fantastic and made my day!

Pascale Lemaire: Value Village is a great place for used or vintage clothing. Things are organized by categories and well marked to make searches for specific items much easier. They also offer senior discounts and other discounts on special days if you register!

Loretta Claye: Value Village is my go to for donations. The receivers work very hard with a polite demeanor. The department is organized and I get unique items that suit my need. I love the non fiction books which I then recycle at work or donate. Nery is a excellent cashier. I was questioning him about my coupons that I take serious. He remained customer ready and accommodating. Lastly, the manager is always hard at work as if he is the only one at the department working.
