The Lab School of Washington: what do users think?

Raba Letteri: This is our son's fifth year at Lab School. We could not have been more pleased with the progress he has made. Our son's self-esteem and confidence was boosted, and it allowed him to achieve many of his goals. I cannot speak highly enough for Lab School's staff. Outstanding school!

Daniel Herman: Its a great special ed school. Great and innovative minded students, teachers, and administration. Couldn't ask to be a 10th grader rising 11th grader in a better private High School. The High School recently moved into a new and fancy with 21st century technology like touch white boards, white board walls, among other things.

Andres Mendoza: This is a great school and I am so glad we put our boys in this school. My son received the DC opportunity scholarship a couple of years ago and we were initially going to put him in another school but we heard good things about this school and we decided to enroll him here. Best decision we could have made for our boys education. The appearance of the school can be off putting but as they say never judge a book by its cover. The principal is great and really cares about every student. She is bi-lingual at least and her Spanish accent is excellent even though she is American. During PTA meeting one time she went around and introduced all the parents from memory. The teachers are excellent and really push the students. The school is small with only one class per grade but that means your student gets more attention and love. The end of the year field trips are always great and give the kids chances to go places they wouldn't have gone otherwise plus the parents are encouraged to come. It really makes us feel like one big family. My boys love the school and are going to be sad when they graduate and leave.

Tsiyon Arega: The school is amazing but the lunch is horrible for me !

Queen Regal: I go to this school. They have great end of the year field trips. We go out of state. The graduation trip is even better. The teachers are ok and the work is a little challenging. The school has more than one building. There are other buildings behind the main building. So the pictures/photos are not accurate of where we actually have classes. The pics only show the building where we have before care, some assembly's, aftercare and lunch and breakfast. Also a few of the younger kids classes are in that building.

SLAYER the mobile player: This has to be the best school in the world even though I got bullied by eman/Amanuel Gebregiorgis it was still a fun time because I had people who were helping build up my self esteem like kaleab tekelu, David and chad brogsdale on my side I’m so glad to go to this school and have the opportunity to make friends I highly recommend to send your kids here because it will change your life forever 😉

Ermias Chelko: It is a great school for my children I released to know that when my sons woke up before me and ready when I wake up That tells me That the bridges academy.

Christian Yimam: I love this school they really real teachers help all kind of children and never let any one behind

Penny Bennett: I graduated Valedictorian from this school when it was called The Academic Enrichment Center Preparatory School and Mrs. Lillette C. Campbell was the Principal.

Maulanna Idalia: Best school ever all the teachers have potential in every student I love this school

Terminated Account: You'll love the school:) and you'll also love the teachers and students too: SIKE :)))))))))))))))))))))) Like this cause u know who u are

Thereal Me: The daycare is the worst! I saw the fire department in there rescuing a baby stuck in a toy hurting!! So so sad!😤

Alexiaa Jordan: Tangible skills are built here...more than other Ivy-league International relation schools. We all literally speak more than 1 language and can do economics and statistics in a realm where people believe pontificating is the only important thing. We do both... critically think and execute hard skills.

D L: SAIS and Georgetown are the big titans of international relations/political science/public service institutions in DC. SAIS has great faculty and talented students.

Andrew Sanders: One of the best institutions in the world for studying international affairs. Prepares students for top-level employment around the world

Alex Thorp: Excellent professional international relations school. My time as a graduate student here has been well worth it.

eva banks: Amazing school. Awesome student support team

Ryan Heckel: Can feel it but can't yet fully understand how well it has prepared me for a future in leadership in an international environment.

Masaud Ellafi: Future industry _____ the best place for international affairs

Heru Prama Yuda: The place where future global leaders are prepared for an ever-changing world

Jesse Cantrill: The new Cooper Field stadium opened in time for the Harvard football game. Lovely stands, lovely restrooms, not enough concession sites. No one selling caps or apparel. Campus looks terrific.

L. Zhǎngsūn Brown: Great study space, lots of open areas and well-lit with natural lighting. There are little rooms good for group study too but it can be hard to snag one. The Fischer Colloquium is a lovely event venue as well. The only downside is that there isn't really a food option in here unless you're okay with vending machines.

Natalia: Absolutely energetic peaceful and relaxed in cherry blossom time after quarantine 2020

Adam Faircloth: Beautiful campus and great institution

Close Up Foundation: what do users think?

Sara Gebhart: The Close-Up experience for student and teacher is a wonderful experience. I was hesitant because of covid restrictions but close-up had everything planned out with no down time for student or teacher programs. My students were able to take in the memorials and the majority of the museums with a lot of group discussion. All of my students had a good experience. As far as the teacher program went it was amazing! We went to two battle fields with guides who explained the battles so well you would have thought they were there. I have taken students four times to the program and have never had the same options on the teacher program. The close-up staff was so patient with all of my questions and concerns before and during the trip. Close-up is a great investment for students and teachers!!
Response: Thank you Sara for sharing! We are so glad that you had another wonderful and successful Close Up program!

Jackie Barrett: I Just returned from an amazing 16th trip with Students from Lawton High School. My Students always return with a newfound interest in Government and Civic Engagement. Their experience in DC is a once in a lifetime experience for my students! Close Up hands down is the best!
Response: Thank you Jackie for your kind words! It was great to see you and your students on program in DC. We are thrilled their Close Up experience made such an impact!

Kat Brown: My daughter had a wonderful time with Close Up! We are very thankful she was able to go on such an exciting trip, and was able to experience D.C. The only issue that came up was with food. They were given money to cover 4 meals, but were brought to expensive parts of the city to dine in. They were expected to use $12 per meal, but that would barely cover a decent sized meal for any teenager. She ended up having to use the small amount of spending money she had on her. Next time, I would hope you guys are able to solve issues like this and be more mindful about how expensive certain places are that you are bringing these students.
Response: So glad to hear your daughter had such a meaningful experience! We appreciate the feedback on program meals. We will be sure to pass that along to see if we can provide alternative options in the future.

Bo Krivohlavek: Our students had a tremendous experience in D.C. They saw all of the famous sites and learned the inner workings of our political system. The Close Up staff is professional and the week's itinerary is organized and full. Our kids were worn out at the end of the week but they had seen everything! I highly recommend Close Up!
Response: Thank you for the review Bo! Glad you all had a 'tremendous' Close Up experience!

Lisa Chapman: My daughter did not enjoy her DC trip in early April 2022. Be aware that Close Up greatly over scheduled these kids and had them going from 7:30am - 10:00 pm with no breaks and no downtime. From 7-10pm they were required to attend mandatory workshops on subjects that my daughter had zero interest in, and was frankly too tired from the day to care about. Every night she phoned begging us to let her come home. These workshops should be optional - or better yet, why not have an after dinner student lounge where kids can relax and get to know each other? Other red flags: Close Up was supposed to supply 3 meals a day; out of the blue my daughter was given $50 for 4 lunches which is inadequate in DC; and, they had no idea where to go for a healthy meal and had to eat fast food. She was dreaming of salads! Finally, there was an alarming report of an employee being fired on day 1. Overall we were NOT impressed and will not recommend this trip to friends/family.

BENJAMIN WARGO: I have brought students to Close Up twice, once pre-pandemic and once post-pandemic. Close Up provides students with an excellent experience in DC. They interact with kids from across the country. They don't just tour the sites in Washington, they dive deep into the meaning and significance of each one, with a focus on democracy citizenship. Also, their teacher program is excellent and flexible. I have learned something each time.
Response: Thank you Benjamin for sharing about your Close Up experiences! It is our goal to inform, inspire, and empower students when they come to Washington, DC, and going beyond tours of the sites is how we do just that. Hope to see you on program again next year!

Cassie Olson: After having taken four groups of high school students to Washington D.C., I can honestly say Close Up continues to provide our students with a wonderful experience! They come home with a much greater understanding of our government, an appreciation for our history, and new friends from across the country.
Response: Thank you Cassie for the review and for sharing about your Close Up program experiences and what your students bring home!

Sierra Breitbeil: I can't think of a week long experience more valuable than this one with close up . We all want democracy to continue and investing in kids learning what really it takes to keep representation and dialogue going, is so so important. When my husband and I were in college, we never took a us history or poly Sci course, but a great deal of our dialogue with one another and friends, has been about what has and what is going on, in the world, and what decisions the leadership of the country is committed to. My son is so interested in these subjects and I see him pursuing these subjects in college. He and we woukd not really have known how strong his interest was if he had not done this program. You guys packed so much in, in such a short time. Thank you to the teacher/ teachers who organized and went to DC with our kids. Sierra Breitbeil
Response: Thank you, Sierra, for your parent perspective of Close Up! We are thrilled that your son has taken a strong interest in the subjects we cover on our civic education programs in DC. What happens on Close Up, truly can change the lives of our young people!

Sophia Nichole: Several months ago, my junior class participated in the Close Up program, and we still talk about it all the time. It was truly a life changing experience I will never forget. Since attending Close Up I have become far more engaged in politics. I am even considering choosing a career path that relates to politics - something I never would have thought I would do before visiting Washington D.C. I highly recommend participating in the Close Up program if you are into US history or love debating, and even if you don't! There is truly something for everyone.
Response: Thanks Sophia for all your kind words! So glad you had such a great, impactful experience on program!

Courtney Ann Kenney: As a teacher who has taken students on the Close Up trip for 12 years and counting, I can confidently say that it is a life changing experience for all involved. Every detail of the program is thoroughly planned out and the safety of participants is top priority. Students come away with not only seeing all of the sites of Washington D.C, but more importantly, knowledge of foreign and domestic issues facing the nation, the experience of engaging in courageous conversations and an increased desire for civic learning and political activism. I recommend the Close Up experience with enthusiasm and without any reservations. You will not be disappointed!
Response: Thank you so much for the review! It is always great to hear from our veteran teachers about their many trips to DC with their students.

Georgetown University: what do users think?

Alex Kolkena: For the record, I didn't go to school here, but I've only heard good things. From a tourist's perspective, there's plenty of neat architecture on campus. It's in one of the older sections of Washington DC, so definitely worth checking out.

Da-Wang Wu: I have several talented colleagues who graduated from Georgetown University, so I always want to visit this school. The campus is very beautiful, especially with the fall foliage. It’s a nice half-day trip to visit the university, the shopping area (mainly on M Street), the canal and the waterfront park.

Danny L: Must place to visit if you are visiting DC. Lots of things to do around the university. Great place for photography and sightseeing. Plenty of Restaurants around that area. You would love it.

David Gilbank: I fulfilled a lifelong ambition when I came to Georgetown to see where The Exorcist was filmed. I particularly wanted to throw my self down the stairs that featured in the finale. Obviously that could cause terrible damage, so I through a soft toy down instead. See photos. Its a brilliant beautiful neighbourhood. Well worth a visit.

Mj Dillenburg: Great graduation ceremonies! Except for the 95 degree heat and humidity....it was beautiful.

Adnana K: I've had my last two kids here. They met all my needs in that time. Both C-sections were done perfectly. Two and a half days hospital stay. Recovery was very successfull. Staff was very friendly and professional. I highly recommend this hospital.

Russ Watts: Excellent university, superb perspective on the political realm, mindful about the Jesuit values.

Enric Piferrer Torres: We stopped for a quick walk around the university buildings, and it was worth it! It reminded me of Harry Potter somehow. Beautiful main building. We parked outside for free in a 2 hour parking (no meter). The neighborhood is beautiful too

Justin Ahearn: So charming and beautiful. Feel like I’m going to get culture of Washington DC and the people that I meet are great

lilian gonzalez: I do not come to school here but it's a must place to visit and see in person!!! The buildings are so beautiful and massive. It's breathtaking. The surrending place to grab food is amazing and you can bring it back and either sit in the rocking chairs or picnic tables they have or bring a blanket and lay under a tree and relax!! It's so nice!!
