Allison Guy: This Petco might be good for other things, but the conditions their birds are kept in are nightmarish. The parakeets do not have adequate perches of different sizes, any chewing toys, and they are fed on a cheap, unhealthy all-seed diet. I also watched as a woman pried open one of the plexiglass doors and let a budgie escape. As for the parrots, well, have a look at the photo — a tiny enclosure with no opportunity to climb, chew, fly or have social interaction. Same unhealthy seed diet, water bowls full of droppings. Their heads were full of painful pin feathers because they had no bird or human companion to groom them. Imagine sitting on the same perch in a glass box all day with nothing to do, for weeks and months on end. This is absolute torture for such a smart, social animal.

carolyn jackson: My son and I love, love, love this store. We are here every week doing a fish tank water sample test. The manager Donnell in the fish dept. Is very nice, helpful. knowledgeable, and professional. He and the staff are always ready to help you in any way. It a fun store to shop.

Dani Rios: We casually visited this store and left with the best impression. The nice cashier seemed sincerely interested in learning about our puppy and gave us some great tips about the excessive chewing. We regret not asking her name, she was a nice African American lady. Thank you!

Sarah Levine: I did a puppy training class with Jen and she is an excellent trainer. She understands dog behavior and how to use positive training to get results. My puppy started off hating going into the store and by the end she was dragging me in because she was so excited to go to class. I highly recommend taking training classes with Jen.

Courtney: Jill was so helpful and informative—just got a puppy and she helped us find the right cleaning spray for accidents in the house. The store was clean and organized. Will be coming to this Petco in DC from now on!

Summer Bryant Campell: Mr. Darnell was very knowledgeable and compassionate about the proper living space, food and bedding for the newest addition to our family our guinea pig. You can tell he loves animals and wants the very best for them. Ms. Alexis, who was at the register when we bought our guinea, gave her a check once over and reminded us to check our guinea’s ears, nails and reminded us of possible bald patches that can be caused by ring worm and / or mites. She was also very caring and showed our guinea lots of love. The professionalism, and customer we experience each time we shop at this Petco keeps us coming back.

Jn Clark: Had a GREAT experience at the PetSmart Dakota Crossing grooming salon. My puppy is 6 months so he had the big fluffy hair (which I loved) but it’s time for a change. I asked his grooming artist to take him down but leave a little. I picked him up and was in awe, he looked so handsome. I love all the staff!! Andre F was great, will be back in a few weeks.

august belt: The 2 batch of fish I got from them has literally only lasted a week max , the previous fish I had got has lasted 5 months so far ( a few passed ) , but now I am completely unsatisfied because I spend so much money with them, from dogs, Guinea pigs, fish . Water test strips are great. Ammonia everything I am so upset . One passed overnight , return home from work and here is the other only lasted 7 days literally

Queen Me: This has been one of the worst business establishment ever! I took a healthy 6 yo Puppy there. He went in for a hair cut came out with small red rashes all over his body. I took him home he did not eat or drink that night. Took him to the animal emergency room where they billed me $400 to say it was the hair cut! It was not done correctly the clippers were too hot, dirty and so on! I called the store and the grooming manger says oh the groomer is new and I will give you 40% off! I’m sick to my stomach! This is my child and all you can offer me is 40% and lies ! I’m so disappointed and sadden it’s been two days yet this is hard my puppy is not doing well! This my first fur baby! Never again! If I could rate it 0 stars I would do -100!

Algenon Walters: I took my dog in to be groomed a week ago Monday, February 21, 2022. The groomer who provided the service was Jasmyn. As a result of my visit my puppy experienced issues due in part to his cut. She shaved my puppy extremely close over his entire body and did a poor job ensuring his facial hair or his ears were cut evenly. I ended up having to take him to the Vet which resulted in a bill of $300.00 due in part to the stress caused by his haircut. I will never use this PetSmart again and certainly wouldn’t recommend her for grooming services.

Ms C.M.: I took my pup to be groomed Saturday. They butchered my baby. I notice lastnite a nick on back of his leg an his ears were still dirty an smelly. His nails were cut too low i notice blood on paw. 1st an last time using them. They charged 101.00 for what i don't know

Phyllis Harris: Groomer left a sour taste in my mouth. The whole department seemed like a “us vs them” team thing. When I had a problem they all seemed offended instead of wanting to fix the issue and suggested since I am not happy maybe I should find another groomer. Yup, I agree. ESPECIALLY when I arrived my dog was howling and cry barking and they acted like no one heard her. I know that to be the “potty cry” and they were just ignoring it. Then once I asked them to go get her so she wouldn’t be so upset while we were discussing an issue with the bill. Her eyes were still dirty and crusty and I wonder why after a bath and cut her eyes were so messy and they said it was probably from her crying and being upset without me. Goodness. I have a Standard Poodle that is spoiled and LOVES being groomed so this is just weird…they just don’t seem like they LIKE grooming.

Lizzie Sorrell: Everything in this store is way over priced. Brought some fish for my grandson woke up the next morning to find all of them dead. I guess the clean water was to much for them. Safe to say we will not be returning.

Danielle Arandia: The grooming at this location is awful. I’ve been using Petsmart for a nail trim/grind for years and per Petsmart’s website and every other location, this is a walk up service, no appt needed; in fact most other locations won’t even let me schedule an appt. Every time we go here for a nail trim, we get turned away and told to make an appt. When I call to make an appt (bc you cannot make this type of appt online) they’re “full.” It literally takes 10 min each time to get my pup’s nails trimmed so it’s quite ridiculous. My final straw with this location was finally getting an appt and then come to find out they scheduled us in Falls Church?! I’m so over this location. Go somewhere else.

Terrance Hobson: If you have a choice, NEVER come to this Petsmart for grooming. I had an appointment at 10am and they told me come back at 2pm. At 2pm, they told me to come back 3:30. I arrived at 3:30 and they haven’t even started on my dog yet! I’m never coming back to this Petsmart again.

Austin Graff: We’re not pet owners, but stopped in to but a gift for our neighbor’s dog. The space is big with everything you’d want from toys to biscuits to anything! They have a pet grooming station, a dog biscuit bar and sell small pets like fish, hamsters, birds and snakes!

bFly Young: I gave 4 star because I went to buy a ferret the cage in thr store said one price and when I got to my car to check my receipt. I was charged more then the price on the cage. The man with glasses at the register told me that was the old price but as the consumer I was to pay what you had up in the store. I don't know nor seen anything about a higher price. Acted like he didn't amend the transaction u til I told him I'll file a complaint with the BBB better business bureau because they have to honor what was up in the store. After all that back and forth my daughter got to take home our new family member Dash. He's getting along with my son Bright. Looking forward to adding more to our family but hopefully we won't have another price issue next visit. An they play do well with Chinx our kitten like they're all siblings 😆

Harlan Harris: My Daughter-in-law went to purchase a fish and tank for her elementary classroom/students. I did not go in. She returned with both items, fish food, and water treatment. The wait was extremely quick--the store must have been well-staffed with knowledgeable salespersons. I thought +$20 for a single Betta fish was ridiculous, but I'm unaware of pricing. I do know I could have feed salmon to a family of four for less...

Joey Abrams: Pretty pedestrian big box pet store. Pet enclosures and tanks seem well managed and maintained. Online pickup order was ready and waiting when we arrived.

Olgamaris Fernandez: This Petco's grooming was HORRIBLE!!! Stay away. I went to pick up my dog (a miniature schnauzer) and he was still dirty, the hair cut was done with uneven scissors all through his body and face, as if it was done by someone with NO EXPERIENCE. Therefore, DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE, EVER!!! Even though they offered a full refund, it does not repair the horrible haircut and going to pick your dog to find him in such conditions.

Father Hood: The online prices are always different from in store. Once you reach your eight bag for free they do not give you your full credit which is a rip off. Will no longer be patronizing this company.

Cody Laliberte: Asked for a trim around the legs and back end, but our dog ended up with a shaved stomach and butt. Didn’t see the stomach until we had left the store already - obvious hack job with clippers that shouldn’t have been used in the first place. Nothing is straight or even, totally choppy.

While visiting family in the DC area for a month over the holiday season, I ordered multiple times from them, as they carry the raw dog food I use back home in Arizona. So glad I did my homework and found them! They are helpful, stock quality products, and their delivery option was so very helpful to me, as I was staying in Rockville and didn’t have to drive into the city. They delivered to a local vet and I picked up my order from them. Fast delivery with great communication. Next time I travel with my two dogs out to the DC area – I definitely will return to shop with them. Thanks, again, for your fantastic service!

Monica Weeks: We’ve been coming to The Big Bad Woof for months now to get treats for our dog and have enjoyed the store and neighborhood feel. But they went above and beyond this last trip! I went in to get a jacket for my dog and really had no idea how to make sure the fit was right. I brought my dog in and that was a terrible idea. He’s super aggressive towards dogs and he was nervous. Julie offered to help me in the back of the store which was really their office and warehouse. She brought me several jackets for my dog to try on and kept coming back and forth to make sure we got one that fit and I was happy with. She never made me feel like I was being a nuisance, took time to chat with me, and showed me photos of her own dog. Several of the staff pet my dog, walked around us while they worked, and were so friendly. My husband and I originally started coming here to support a small business. We will keep coming here because of their excellent customer service, genuine love for what they do, and their commitment to helping serve the community they live in.

Chloe Flowers: Big Bag Woof is perfect for our family! We have two dogs and two cats and we can obtain everything we need from here, sometimes even delivered if we are too busy with life to stop by. They’re located right off the red line metro as well which makes picking up food and toys for our pets incredibly easy. The staff there is also very friendly and knowledgeable. Big Bad Woof is an absolute joy to have in the community, we couldn’t be happier with them!

Kelli: A wonderful local business. The staff is always friendly and helpful. There's a huge variety healthy pet foods and items. Yes, some things are super specialty and expensive, but there are just as many affordable healthy options too! I love that they regularly host adoption events and seem invested in the community. My pup loves this place so much, every time we walk by he tries to drag me inside! Must be the free treats and belly rubs!

Masha Bozmoff: Best pet store around! We came here a day before getting our first rescue kitten who I was planning to put on the raw diet. The staff members helped me pick out a suitable brand of raw blend that she took to immediately, and they have an array or organic, single-ingredient treats that I feel comfortable feeding her. Zarin B: The girls in grooming (wish i caught their names) were so friendly and helpful with my walk in nail trimming package. I saw one of them was comforting my dog, speaking softly and petting him while the other lady was professionally taking care of his nails. Highly recommend.

Stephen Griffin: I only give a one star for the grooming part of the store. I brought my dog in for a bath and they used absolutely the worse smelling, putrid shampoo ever. It smelled up the entire house, and seemed to stay on forever. They should ask one before hand if they wanted a "fragrant" shampoo used.

Chanpen Tee: The store is clean. The staff is nice. They have dog hotel and hospital here. There are a lot of dog toys and clothes. The parking is a bit difficult to find.

Deborah Vollmer: This review is going to be a bit more positive, and also a bit shorter, than the review that I almost posted yesterday. My complaint relates to the cat adoption process, which is actually run by volunteers for Last Chance Animal Rescue at the PetSmart in Bethesda. I had recently lost a dear cat to cancer, a lovely girl that I had adopted from PetSmart around twelve years ago--- and I was very eager to adopt another cat, after a few months of grieving for my previous cat. The volunteers for LCAR delayed in processing my adoption application, and after nearly a month had elapsed, notified me that they didn't see my application as being complete! It was the delay, not the objection to what I submitted, that caused me anguish, as the defects were both debatable, and easily cured at my end. Hopefully, I am now on the way to adopting a cat. What changed this post from what I was literally about to submit yesterday, was a telephone call that I received the Store Manager, Ron, at the Bethesda PetSmart. (He was responding to a phone call that I had previously made to corporate.) Ron heard me out, provided an explanation for the mix-up, and assured me that LCAR was on the way to remedying the situation, and that he believes that I am now on the way to adopting a cat. We agreed that the Covid pandemic has negatively affected the adoption process at PetSmart, in different ways. I still think that the adoption process still needs improvement overall, and that both LCAR and PetSmart can do better. For one thing, it should be easier for potential adopters to communicate with the volunteers working for LCAR at the PetSmart store, about potential adoptions--- and also that the volunteers handling the adoptions should respond to inquiries and requests on a more timely basis.

Benjamin Felz: The pets hotel has the absolute rudest staff. Zero greetings, don’t seem to even like dogs, and no customer service training at all. The person I had the unfortunate time dealing with must have hated their job and life. Extremely short with me and negative towards my dog. Glad I was missing a piece of paper to board him cause I couldn’t image what sort of abuse this women would’ve inflicted to my dog.

Justin Vazquez: Great selection, excellent stop for a long-time dog-lover, first-time dog-owner such as myself! They had a $20 new-dog guide that had coupons which helped me to save on my purchase, and it came with offers for a free grooming session, a free starter training session, and a free night of kenneling. There are great options for shopping online, but it was really great to explore the options in person and take everything home on the spot so it could be ready for us to bring home the newest addition to our family the next day 😊

Baillie Gardunia: Took my golden to the groomers at this Petsmart for the first and last time yesterday. I went to pick my dog up and when they brought her out she could not seem to get out of the store fast enough. I didn't really think anything of it because sometimes she can be anxious at the groomers. I got my dog back home and when I opened the car door there was blood everywhere. I finally figured out that it was coming from her nail that was cut too short. I understand that things happen and maybe my dog flinched and it was an accident. I wouldn't have thought it was a big deal if they told me when I picked her up, but the groomers did not say a word to me about it and did nothing to try to stop the bleeding. So my dog got blood all over herself after I just paid for her bath, and there's blood all over the backseat of my car and in my house.

Liyu He: A DISHONEST STORE . They don’t care about customer experience and be sure they don’t care about your pets’ experience either. Some stuff there are incredibly irresponsible. Items are always hung on a wrong place with a wrong price. I’ve experience this issue three times! The $3 bunch turned out to be $6, and the $2 stuff turned out to be $3.5. When I tried to tell the guy this problem. He was in a rush to go home and said he couldn’t give me the item with price on tag. Excuse me ? It’s just 1 or 2 dollars difference and I already paid for them, so I don’t need you to give me that cheap price.I told you so that you guys be aware of this mistakes. It’s not a big deal, but it’s super annoying always seeing the wrong price. And they clearly don’t care about customer experience. Never going there again!

keshieshimmer M: I work in retail so I get that customers can be out of line sometimes. I made a thoughtless purchase and went to return it, I knew it was close to the 30 day window but figured I could get store credit, bc my bad I should have done it sooner. Unfortunately, this store told me that after 30 days my item was worthless - the kicker is that the 30 days expired the previous day. The item was sealed and it cost $9.99. And they refused a store credit, I mean really? If you ever have issues just call petco online. I got a credit for the item. When I first started to work retail I used to act like the money was coming out of my check, glad I grew out of that mindset.

Cilver: This is a great store with a friendly staff. Mr. Deon, Ms. Isis, Mr. Ricardo and Ms. Alana are always ready to help and they always give great customer service. Thank you! Benjamin Dempe: I love Petco. The staff was awesome and very helpful. I do feel like their stock was fairly depleted and we only ended up getting around half of what we needed. I'm not sure if it was just a restock day or if I've just gotten too use to Chewy, but I ended up going home and getting several items online.

Jacob Hart: "Our return policy is simple – if you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can return it to any of our Petco or Unleashed by Petco stores or to one of our petco.com warehouses." - Apparently untrue, my 4 month old puppy destroyed a couple of "ultra durable" toys I bought from this location within half an hour of being given them and I was told by an employee here that Petco was not responsible for my dog's "style of chewing" even if the toy was advertised as durable on their shelves. Stick to Chewy for toys, they'll actually back up their return policy.

Kymie Pleasant: Customer Service here is EXTREMELY HORRENDOUS! Staff is very biased and discriminatory! U walk in & speak you can barely hear a mumble from the staff; no one is welcoming! Today I went in for a bath upon approaching the back I asked was a tub available I was told yes; one tub was occupied one was filthy and the other was too low. I asked if someone could come to clean the filthy tub or raise the grate that was too low on the other. An unwelcoming annoyed staff person rinsed the dirty tub. I was baffled as COVID-19 IS STILL PREVALENT that all he did was rinse the tub; NOT CLEAN BUT RINSE, A RINSE IS NOT CLEANING! I asked was there a cleaning agent to use to actually to clean the tub. ONLY AFTER ASKING did he spray a cleaning agent. He did not thank me for my patience or offer any sort of regret for the filthiness. I was going to proceed with a bath, however I gathered my things along with my dog and exited the building. THIS LOCATION & STAFF IS DISGUISTING! I would never spend another dime at this location. BEWARE!

Tamara Moss: This is the worst grooming experience I have ever had. They flag people's account that are paying customer's for leaving the truth when asked to complete their survey. I thought the purpose of the survey was for me to leave honest feedback. When leaving the feedback they decided without notice to flag my dog's account and ban him from getting grooming services at this location. To top it off, I know use a mobile groomer from one of their former employees and she does an AWESOME job. She left because of how the animals are treated by the groomers at this location. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL TO THESE GROOMERS!!

Jc See: Do Not do their training. While in training they lost my dog. Let him run out the door. The trainer did not tell me he ran out the door nor did she go out after him. They never told management about the incident. Nor did they tell the General manager. They wouldn't even give me my money back. So I paid them to loose my dog. They won't pay me for the cost of my dog, my expenses of flyers, or hiring a dog tracker. The worst place ever......

Ayanna Nahmias: It is impossible to find a cat groomer in this area. Ferme is incredible, he is kind and an expert groomer. My cat always comes back looking good, feeling happy, and purring happily. :-)

Michael Thomas: A good store, usually has everything I need for my ball python and cat in stock. Recent supply chain issues are starting to affect inventory, at least for wet cat food. But they still have way more choices than my local grocery stores.

Hailey Duncan: Mr. Sam was incredibly nice with my dog for his grooming. We had a bad grooming experience at another groomer and I was a bit nervous to leave my dog again. My dog was happy to see me and went back to give Mr. Sam a goodbye kiss. His work is great and even the other dog owners in the salon had great things to say while we waited to get checked in.

Heather Bodenhamer: I have another groomer I use, a private one and she’s amazing but was really booked up. So I naively thought let’s try petco. I get that you get what you pay for but I was shocked. My puppy had matted fur as it reaches a point of no return especially from the snow, winter, sweaters etc. So they told me they’d have to go short and I thought okay, they won’t have to make her bald right? Well I’ll post photos and let you decide. It just seems they could have kept some hair or trimmed down the matted parts and brushed them out, they had her for 4 hours. My biggest complaint though is that they shaved her eye lashes and whiskers and her face is so choppy and uneven. It really just feels this was the lazy way to cut or they don’t care. I highly recommend a private grooming place versus petco if you have a long haired dog.

Kathleen Richter: This is the 2nd time we've used Petco to groom our dog's nails, and we've been totally satisfied with the care the groomers take to make Oreo comfortable, the job they do, and the availability of time slots to come in for service.

Nicole Farrak: I have previously had good experiences with this Petco location for grooming, however, the last appointment my dog had on May 23 was by far the worst grooming experience yet. My dog is a standard poodle and was requested to be shaved down with a clean face, trimmed ears and top knot. Her body was all different lengths, her feet were just as long as her hair was before I dropped her off and completely uneven, her top knot was almost completely cut off but was also different lengths and no longer in the typical poodle rounded shape, her ears werent trimmed at all and were the original length that was dropped off and her tail had a bunch of mattes in it that was requested to be shaved down completely. Additionally, her clean face at tuffs of hair that were long throughout as well as having shaving burn on her nose when the clippers got too close or too hot. They had my dog from 8am-3pm and this is completely unacceptable. I have to take my dog to another groomers to help fix what they missed/did incorrectly. According to the receipt, her groomer was named Fermin.

Philip I.: I am extremely skeptical that they gave my dog a bath yesterday. My house is covered in shedded fur just from him sleeping overnight. The picture included is after 2 brushstrokes. I gave them a call and they said the paperwork states that a bath was given and that their hands were tied. My interactions with the employees have otherwise been excellent.

Emily Oliver: Booked the furmintaor treatment that usually takes 4 hours. They only bathed and barely brushed. They did not do a sanitary shave or clip nails. Once I called and I asked what happened, was told it was my fault for not specify want I wanted. However, upon drop off I offered specifics of what I wanted. Photo shows how much fur came off my dog less than 24hrs after grooming service that was supposed to included deshedding.

T C: Our 7 month old shepherd mix goes to doggy daycare here and loves it. They have parties and a mixed daily schedule all for a reasonable price. Only gave 4 stars because it takes about 20 minutes on hold to make a reservation, drop off takes between 5-20 and pick up takes another 20.

Elizabeth Keene: Wow!! Alex and Andrea were amazing. As a new puppy mom I was so anxious. Would my pup be scared, would he cooperate, would the groomers be nice to him and all these worries went away immediately when I met both gentlemen. Andrea answered all my questions and walked me through the process and what type of tools and cut my pup would get. Andrea gave my pup a wash and I could hear him talking to him like it was his puppy. It put me at ease right away. Alex gave Cashew his trim and it came out great!! I knew Cashew was comfortable when he was giving kisses to Alex and snuggling into him. It melted my heart.

Susan Belote: Beware!!! Horrible grooming experience - Groomer cut my dog and did nothing to seek medical attention!! It started with the groomer calling me to let know my dog was stressed and throwing up and when I asked questions to try and clarify what was wrong the woman hung up on me. When I got there the groomer had left and no one claimed to know what happened. They have me my dog half wet. Update: I got her home and noticed she was licking her rear end excessively. I found where the groomer cut her pretty bad and didn't tell me! I called the store after I discovered it and management informed me they were given a "heads up" and have promised to pay for her vet visit... Let's hope they will follow through. There is no excuse for a groomer to lie to me and neglect getting my dog medical attention as soon as she realized she was hurt. Instead she put my dog in the kennel and left her scared, wet, and in pain.

Chuck B: Customer service is not very good, I have come to this store a few times and always had to wait a long time to get assistance. In addition, at checkouts there only appears to be one person. For a big store of this size and with its very large inventory, they are understaffed. One thing that is worth noting is the amount of inventory they have is great, and that they offer purchase and/or adoption for cats and dogs.

Shelley Folk: Don’t board your pets here. Boarded my dog over the weekend she was shaking when I picked her up. As soon as we were outside, she went to the bathroom. I have never seen her pee so much, even if I’m late getting home. Poor thing must have been holding it forever. It makes me wonder if she was let out at all. She must have been in there a cruel amount of time. The store is fine, but PetsHotel is terrible.

Chiquita Smalls: This is the second time I have gotten all the way to my scheduled appointment for my puppy Just for me to be told that Chloe would not be seen. The staff is very unprofessional, rude and disrespectful. I was speaking with the front desk clerk whom was explaining to me that being though my puppy just received shots 48hrs ago I will have to reschedule Chloe appointment. While I’am explaining letting her know that when I checked yes for that question on the online check in form no one notified me nor canceled the appointment that’s why I thought it was okay. A tomboy looking female I wish I remembered her name but she was suppose to be servicing another pet who was in her care and she rudely indulge in my conversation and began to speak to me in a aggressive tone. Which I thought was very unprofessional of her and out of place. The profanity was uncalled for and totally out of line. She made me feel very uncomfortable about rescheduling another appointment with this particular petsmart. Also when dealing with someone pet I feel she was being careless instead of finishing up her job she chose to argue with a customer who was not originally talking to her while having hot clippers in her hand very unprofessional and unsafe. This incident happened on May 12th around 1pm. If you have a huge black dog not sure of the breed check you dog for anything out of the ordinary. I just remembered the tomboy name as I continue to type. I was told by the manager DeeDee that her name is PeePee not sure if I have the correct spelling but yes she very rude, disrespectful and unprofessional and should not be servicing anyone pet…

Brendan Broas: sad to say I didnt get the correct food brand for my dog while I had him and had Zero help from everyone inside to get Royal C. for Golden Retrievers wich saddens me that I was ignored to the overwhelming loss of my rehoming and easily correctable situation I had with his digestive system. Was actually advised a certain off brand for his stomach that was for adault and and upset him even more as it was pushed on me I didn't even realize that.Months later see where the brand is that I wanted and he is already rehoused, when it coulda been a easily fixed issue.Customer service Thats not personal tho just a factual talking point.

Thomas Landers: I'm torn with this location for the aquatic and avian pets. They have the backing of Petco brand power that means more verity, but the care is lacking. There where more sick and dead fish then you ever want to see in any type of aquatic pets supplier. The front glass in all the aquariums needed attention. My next trip will be to Edens or H.O.T. . Proper labeling is more of a upper level thing on pet info like adult size and tank permanents. The avians need down time. The birds looked stressed and done with it all. "Turn the light off!"(I went at 8 pm). Even with all that said the staff was helpful and polite.

Joshua Puterbugh: We have gone to PetSmart for dog grooming for three years now and have been happy up until this last time. The whole experience started with an unprofessional voicemail from one of the groomers, Justin, saying that the time we chose for the appointment " doesn't really work for him" requesting that we come in earlier instead. When we dropped him off, they said that last time, he was very difficult to work with around the face and feet. They completely shaved our long hair dog and said that there were no notes on how he was supposed to be groomed. I asked how they knew he was bad around the face and feet with no notes and they back tracked and said there were notes from prior grooming appointments, and that it said to cut his body short. When asked about how this was possible because this was completely different then past grooming appointments, the manager argued with me, was short, and very unprofessional. I asked if she could send over the notes so I could see them and she said she was not able to do that. They did offer a refund but only because we were not happy. They did not sympathize or admit any wrong doing/negligence on their end. Our long hair dog now has no hair and will take VERY long to grow out. He is now super itchy and uncomfortable. Do not go here to get your dog groomed.

David Lee: I adopted my kitty in 2007 from this Petsmart. At the time this store had just opened for business, and the store was really well managed. The shelves were well stocked, the place was clean, and friendly staffs were ready to help out. Now a decade more later, the place feels run down. The staffs are still friendly, but the shelves are emptier than ever, and the place appears to be messy. COVID-19 has hit it hard IMO.

Janay McIntosh: I like this location. It’s conveniently located next to target so you can get your pet and household needs in one trip. Highly recommend the Banfield wellness program to new pet owners. It’s saved me thousands with their monthly subscription. You’re even able to spread the cost of neutering out over a few months. It’s nice to be able to care for your pet affordably and they will share the cost of the visit with you up front and are easy to work with.

Pure Badrakh: I was just helped by Michelle at this store (she had a Schitt's Creek pin on her lanyard). I had an above-and-beyond type of request with a pick-up order and she helped me with no hesitation and absolute kindness! What a gem she is and Petsmart is lucky to have someone with such great customer service skills. Thank you, Michelle! You made my day!

Garron Combs: There's a fairly good selection of items at this PetSmart and it seems to be a popular location that is always busy. I have only used their help for finding and purchasing products; never using their other available services (e.g. grooming) or purchasing a pet from those available.

Jerry Garcia: The store is clean, well lit and organized. The staff are friendly and welcoming. During my visit there was only cashier open so there was a line.

Denise Callens: I observed a groomer really roughly trying to brush/comb out a pet today. Comb and brush your pets weekly to avoid this type of treatment. I use a pick/rake comb using slow detangling movements. If you’re pet is matted- detangling in intervals and spray detangling liquid or conditioner and most importantly- don’t stress the pet. Take your time and think about how you would feel if it was your scalp or your skin- it hurts!

Cinnamon Tucker: I used to go to the petsmart every week for my pets or at banfield. I went 2 days ago to find a sweet canary bird neglected in its care there. I am a bird owner myself and my children and I all noticed right away the nails on one canary held there. They were incredibly long, and even one or two of them were curling in a different direction because it was soooo long and the bird couldnt hold onto the branch. The bird also had trouble scratching itself as well and either couldnt care for itself or could really harm itself with nails in the kind of condition. This store should be ashamed of itself... this is a form of animal cruelty. I now feel sorry for all of the pets there. No bird, or any other animal there should be suffering like this! The employee I informed of the situation actually seemed to be shocked, like she didnt know!? And then she brought another employee there to show him and he also seemed to have no clue about it. Do you not see how long they are!?! Do you even realize it takes months and months for them to get that long!?! This was not in a matter of a few weeks, this is long term basic care 101!!

Annie Wilson-Greene: Clean, protective shield between customers and employees. Very pleasant attitudes and smile. Love it.

Tilly Lo: The employees here are very helpful. Stacey showed me some hamsters at 50% off because they have been there 4 months. They were pretty big considering I am used to Roborovskis which are very tiny. Stacey was very patient and nice, and she ended helping me with my pickup online order. I don't shop at petsmart much, and it's amazing how covid has impacted even pet stores. Looks like the winning businesses are those that contribute to political campaigns 🙄

Tony Bennett Shivers: This PetSmart injured my family member, Skittles. This is what happens when my family member gets a haircut, full bath, and nail trim. His dewclaw was chopped off and now he has to take pain and anti-inflammatory medication every 12 hours for the next 21 days. I called the store and talked to the grooming salon manager and then the store manager, Armando. The store manager never inquired about my dog's health status and never acknowledged that the incident happened. Furthermore, the store manager didn't even offer any apologies for the incident taking place regardless of whether he thought that his PetSmart was responsible. The only thing he wanted to confirm is "when did it happen?" That speaks volumes about this PetSmart location. Never again at this location and pet parents beware. Fortunately, the staffer at PetSmart Corporate acknowledged the incident, offered apologies, and provided additional guidance concerning this incident. Special thanks to Banfield Pet Hospital and the medical staff that provided awesome care. They confirmed the cause of the injury and confirmed that the injury didn't happen overnight. Special thanks to Fawn, the PetSmart Pets Hotel Team Lead, Monroeville, PA location for her empathy and generosity concerning the hospital bills. No PetSmart location is created equal. By the way, if you do board your pet at the Reston, VA PetSmart location, ask staff how often do they clean the facilities and whether any dogs there have giardia, which is highly contagious. Just a tip...

Vero C: The place is always clean and has good variety of dogs’ food. However the prices on treats and food are 90% mislabeled and shows different price at the register. I have been coming for over 5 years to this store, and I always have to proof the cashier that pricing is different or show them the location where I took the item. As long time consumer feels that I’m asking for “trust.” Then cashiers show “attitude” as if they are doing me “a favor” for fixing the price. I think this is huge issue, when prices are not aligned. Again this same issue happened to me so many times in 5 years I am forced to write a negative review. Hoping that managers take action. Thanks.

Timothy Kim: Purchase a Robo hamster last spring 2021. She just passed away Jan. 3rd due to heavy labored breathing, low stamina and very weak. Vet said likely death is because it got sick from another hamster. Please look into the quality and care from whoever they are purchased from.

Kaitlyn Doyle: The grooming department is just getting increasingly frustrating to deal with. I take my dog every 3-4 weeks to get his nails ground. Per Petsmart's policy, this is a walk in service. I'm not able to make an appointment for it, they insist it's walk in only. I also can never get anyone to answer the phone if I try to call ahead to see if they have time. However, it's becoming more common that they will either turn us away due to lack of time, or say there's some wildly long wait time. I don't know her name, but every time there is an issue, it's the same groomer. She acts like I've inconvenienced her for simply showing up and asking for a service exactly how their policy states that it's provided, and how it's been provided to my dog regularly for nearly a decade. I would love to be able to make an appointment so I can stop wasting my own time too. I'm not even trying to go during peak hours on weekends or anything - I purposely go during the weekdays to try and avoid the busiest hours for both of our sakes. I'm extremely tired of having to load the dog up, drive out there, and ultimately just ending wasting an hour of my day, for absolutely no reason, especially when the service takes at most 5 minutes on this dog. I get it if they're short staffed too, I'm not trying to be difficult. But please, allow appointments to be scheduled for this service, or at a minimum answer the phone so I can see if it's even worth the time to drive out there.

Lane Boyd: I've always had a good experience here. The staff are great, parking is a breeze, and it's easily accessible. As far as products go, it seems fairly in line with other PetSmart stores I've seen. It's really convenient for North Restonites to find pet supplies.

K P: I order a item that show in stock. I went to store to pickup item and person indicated someone called to say it was out of stock. I had no phone call or VM letting me know this. I wasted a trip too pickup items. Also I lost the hard earned points. They will not refund it. It isn't my fault that order was refund. My cats are picky eater and will not eat any substitute items. Very annoyed that I lose my hard earn points. If item was out of stock it should have shown this online if placing a pickup order. Very disappointed in PetSmart customer service. Be aware of poor service.

Kimberly Price: It was lovely; however, I don't know why their website won't allow one to purchase all of the items in stock. If there are only three remaining, only two will be sold online. I went inside and purchased the remaining third this evening.

John Daus: We love taking our puggle to doggie day camp at PetSmart. They take great picts of him on holidays and special occasions.

Amir Schur: I took my puppy for a beginner's training class. It was amazing. I learned a lot and my puppy has changed tremendously. I highly recommend.

Evelyn Nunez: It’s a nice store and I liked how organized it was. My only issue was the cashier that checked me out. He didn’t greet me or inform me about my fish. During the transaction I felt like he was rushing for me to get out of the store. It would’ve been nice if he informed me their return policy or facts about my new pet.

Hayley Loomer: Amazing petco. Small store that really takes care of most their pets. Some algae on some tanks, but the lowest mortality rate of many of the other petsmarts and petcos in Alexandria. They are also one of the only petcos nearby to offer their pets at a clearance- i saw hamsters, crested geckos, and bettas all on clearance, most likely due to them being ill or kept too long. This is actually a very good idea, as it not only gets them out faster, but can then provide medication and a proper habitat at a reduced cost to the customer. We took in a very tiny female betta, and she is thriving in a 15 gallon tank now.

Brendan Broas: sad to say I got the correct food brand for my dog while I had him and had Zero help from everyone inside to get Royal C. for Golden Retrievers wich saddens me that I was ignored to the overwhelming loss of my rehoming and easily correctable situation I had with his digestive system. Was actually advised a certain off brand for his stomach that was for adault and and upset him even more as it was pushed on me I didn't even realize that.Months later see where the brand is that I wanted and he is already rehoused, when it coulda been a easily fixed issue.Customer service Thats not personal tho just a factual talking point.
